It’s Monday and we have a loaded slate. After breaking down the MLB odds at the top betting sites, we have selected our favorite computer picks.

The AI Model believes the Cardinals and Athletics will go Under the total of 8 with just seven runs. The Cardinals might look like the better team on paper.

However, the Athletics and Cardinals both have 7-9 records. The pitching has held up for the Athletics so far. That’s one of the many reasons to take the Under in this game.

St. Louis Cardinals vs. Oakland Athletics

Monday, April 15, 2024 – 09:40 PM ET at Oakland Coliseum

Sonny Gray’s Second Start For The Cardinals

The Oakland Athletics were expected to be the worst team in baseball. The team’s payroll is a joke this season. However, the Athletics are 7-9 and would be a series win away from being at .500.

The Athletics will face Sonny Gray of the Cardinals. This will only be his second start of the season. In his first start, he went 64 pitches and allowed an ISO of .000 with a wOBA of .247. He was electric and performed just as the Cardinals hoped he would when they signed him in the off-season.

Same Ol’ Sonny?

Last year, Gray held teams to a .098 ISO and .278 wOBA in nearly 800 plate appearances. Therefore, this is nothing new. Gray is as advertised and should be able to hold it down against an Oakland lineup that has hit a .281 wOBA against righties since last season.

Meanwhile, Ross Stripling will take the hill for the Athletics. The veteran righty has allowed a wOBA of .372 and has only earned 17.9% of strikeouts. However, he’s still limited fly balls to 16.7% and has allowed a .110 ISO when on the mound.

MLB Computer Pick

The runs will come from St. Louis in this game. But don’t expect a hit parade against Stripling. After all, the Cardinals have only hit a .318 wOBA against righties since last season using their projected lineup.

Take the Under.
