MLB Home Run Props Today: Aug. 26

Trent Grisham #12 of the New York Yankees hits a single in the fifth inning against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Today’s MLB slate has 15 games taking place across the board with some exciting matchups to consider, so let’s take a look at the best MLB home run player props and predictions ahead of tonight’s action.

All five of the league’s players to hit 40+ Home Runs this season are in action tonight, but will the juice be worth the squeeze when it comes to their odds, or will we see better value elsewhere?

MLB Best Home Run Props Today

Trent Grisham has been solid when it comes to home runs this season. Averaging one every 4.3 games, he is the Yankees’ second-highest home run scorer this season and is good value to hit one out of the park tonight.

Wilson Contreras might only have 19 home runs this season, but he leads the St. Louis Cardinals and has averaged a home run exactly once every four games. He should be able to get the better of Pittsburgh starting pitcher Mitch Keller, who has a poor record this season.

Justin Verlander has not been good this season, going 1-10. Michael Busch steps up to the mound tonight and hopes to smack one out of the park as the Chicago Cubs’ second-highest home run scorer this season. Busch has scored 75% of his home runs this season when playing on the road.

Our best value bet on tonight’s cards will be Michael Busch at +400 at Caesars. Although he is available with other top-rated sportsbooks, his best odds elsewhere are currently at around +380.

Place your bets with Caesars; they have some of the best lines available in the industry and have more player prop markets than most other books.

Trent Grisham Over 0.5 HR (+350)

Trent Grisham has performed incredibly well thus far against the Washington Nationals this season. With just 6 plate appearances, he has had 3 hits and already knocked a ball out of the park.

Mackenzie Gore is the Nationals’ starting pitcher facing Grisham tonight, and he has faced Grisham already this season with 4 plate appearances. Although Grisham has failed to score a home run against Gore thus far, he comes into this game red hot, having banged in two home runs against the Boston Red Sox last time out.

Grisham is a nicely priced +350 here, and we like his odds to score a HR on home turf tonight.

Willson Contreras Over 0.5 HR (+470)

Contreras has faced 9 pitchers on the Pittsburgh team this season, and has scored 2 home runs, with one of those two coming against tonight’s starting pitcher, Mitch Keller. The Pittsburgh SP has been very poor this season, going 5-12 with an ERA of 4.34 this season.

Keller has allowed 7 hits and allowed a BA of .292 when facing Contreras this season, as well as a 0.542 slugging percentage. Contreras comes into tonight’s matchup on fire, having scored a HR in 3 of his previous 4 MLB games, including 3 games in a row with a home run. At +470, we like Contreras’ odds to make it 4 in 5.

Michael Busch Over 0.5 HR (+400)

We are hoping Michael Busch can end his cold streak tonight against Justin Verlander. Busch has been cold lately, having gone 12 games now without a HR. Prior to that, he had scored 3 in 4 games.

The left-handed batter has been the Cubs’ second-highest HR scorer this season, and we like his chances of going deep tonight against Justin Verlander. The Cubs have been hot lately, going 10-2 in their previous 12 games.

Busch has started to heat up lately, with at least one hit in each of his previous 7 games.

Tips for Home Run Props

  • Check out what ballpark the game is taking place in, as some stadiums are more prone to home runs than others.
  • It’s always wise to factor in the wind direction and speed, as this can help the ball travel much further depending on the wind.
  • Certain players have certain pitchers’ numbers, as in they always seem to light up when facing a certain pitcher, so it’s always worth checking out who is hot against who.
  • Barrel rate and launch angle are two lesser-known but well-worth-checking-out stats when it comes to predicting whose smacking one out of the ballpark.
