NFL Odds for Week 6: Oct 9-15

Derrick Barnes #55 of the Detroit Lions celebrates after getting a sack for a safety against the Cincinnati Bengals

Parity has once again forced itself upon the NFL standings. Philadelphia and Buffalo lost their Week 5 battles, leaving us with zero undefeated teams for 2025; looking at the early NFL odds, Week 6 should see both the Eagles and Bills get back on the good foot, although the sharps appear to be much more comfortable laying wood on the defending Super Bowl champions.

All will be revealed in our latest NFL betting preview. We’ll focus on the prime time matchups, starting with Thursday Night Football and wrapping up with the first of two Monday nighters on this week’s schedule.

Philadelphia Eagles vs. New York Giants (+7.5)

Thursday, October 9 – 8:15 PM EDT

The Eagles (4-1 SU, 3-2 ATS) had things well in hand this past Sunday, taking a 14-point lead over Denver into the fourth quarter, but it was the Broncos prevailing 21-17 as 4-point road dogs. Meanwhile, the Giants (1-4 SU, 2-3 ATS) fell back into the Loss column, dropping a 26-14 decision to the New Orleans Saints (-2.5 at home).

That difference in opponent quality might explain why early reports show sharp action and big money on Philadelphia. They’ve already pushed their way up from -6.5 at the open, despite 77% consensus on Big Blue at press time; that number at OddsTrader will likely swing back toward Philly as the sample size increases. The Under has also pulled in enough wiseguy money to move Thursday’s total from 43.5 to 41.5.

Detroit Lions vs. Kansas City Chiefs (-1)

Sunday, October 12 – 8:20 PM EDT

There’s still no point in panicking just yet for Kansas City (2-3 SU and ATS). But they’re in a tight spot this Sunday, playing on a short week after their see-saw 31-28 loss to Jacksonville on Monday Night Football. The Lions (4-1 SU and ATS) look more like Super Bowl contenders after winning their fourth straight this past Sunday, albeit against very soft opposition; they’ve moved from +2.5 at the open to as high as -1 at press time.

Reports suggest the sharps were on Detroit at +3 when the first overseas NFL lines were posted. Action has been fairly light thus far; the preliminary consensus is 100% on Kansas City, but that’s a very small sample size – and the Lions are still available at +1, or even +1.5 (-120) at some locations. We’re seeing significantly more moneyline action for Detroit +100 (down from +130), and the total is up from 48.5 to 50.5 points after considerable interest in the Over.

Buffalo Bills vs. Atlanta Falcons (+4)

Monday, October 13 – 7:15 PM EDT

Note the earlier start time for the first of our two Week 6 Monday night contests. The Bills (4-1 SU, 2-3 ATS) are coming off a disappointing 23-20 loss at home to New England, dropping the cash as 8-point faves; the Falcons (2-2 SU and ATS) enjoyed the bye after their 34-27 win over Washington (+2.5 away) in Week 4.

That extra rest isn’t quite as important this early in the season as it would be in December, but it’s enough for the sharps to jump on the Falcons. They’re down from +5.5 at the open to as low as +3.5 at press time, with 100% support on the initial consensus reports, and interestingly enough, the total has dipped from 50.5 to 48.5 despite 71% consensus and heavy action on the Over.
