Best NHL Player Prop Bets Today
Connor McDavid Over 0.5 Assists (-110) at Caesars
Calgary Flames vs. Edmonton Oilers – 10:00 PM EDT
The most feared player in the NHL these days, Connor McDavid, will look to open his points scoring tally in the opening game of the season as the Stanley Cup runner-ups face their Canadian rivals, Calgary.
McDavid might have had the 4th most assists last season, but he ranks number 1 among the top 50 in terms of assists per game ratio, coming in with 1.10 per game last season and 1.01 throughout his NHL career.
For our first player prop, we like McDavid to provide an assist in this home game. He has 29 in 42 games against the Flames throughout his career and has had 12 assists in his previous 12 games against the Flames. At -110, this is a fair set of odds, bettable down to -120.
Nazem Kadri Over 3.5 Shots (+100) at Caesars
Calgary Flames vs. Edmonton Oilers – 10:00 PM EDT
Somewhat surprisingly, Nazem Kadri had a hot season last time out with the 6th most shots on net in the NHL and the most he has had in a single season, with a total of 279 in 82 games, an average of 3.40 per game.
Kadri comes into this game tonight having had 4+ shots in all 11 career games against the Oilers, and we love his +100 odds for over 3.5 shots on net in tonight’s game. You won’t get value better than this tonight, and don’t be surprised to see this go off around -120.
Throughout his career, Kadri has averaged 4.8 shots per game against the Oilers. Expect more of the same tonight.
David Pastrnak Over 3.5 Shots (-125) at Caesars
Boston Bruins vs. Washington Capitals – 7:30 PM EDT
Boston’s David Pastrnak is one of the last good pieces remaining of a once-great Boston Bruins team who are now in a rebuild. Pastrnak has stayed solid throughout, having had the 2nd most shots in the NHL last season, with 3.89 shots per game.
For the Bruins’ opening game, Pastrnak faces the Washington Capitals, a team he has enjoyed facing in recent years, having had an average of 4.5 shots per game in his previous 9 games against the Capitals. Despite laying -125, we like his chances of hitting 4+ shots in this game tonight, bettable down to -140.
Anytime Goalscorer Props Today
Alexander Ovechkin Anytime Goalscorer (+100) at Caesars
Boston Bruins vs. Washington Capitals – 7:30 PM EDT
The Russian Sniper, Alexandr Ovechkin, had a sure last season, putting up 44 goals (the 3rd-most in the entire NHL regular season) after a somewhat down season with just 31 goals the year prior. Although 31 goals is very respectable, it was Ovechkin’s worst goal per game ratio since 2016-17.
It’s opening night of the season for the Capitals, and their opponents are not as strong as they used to be in years gone by. The Capitals should be stronger this season, so we expect a strong performance from their team leader, Ovechkin. Let’s take him to get on the scoreboard in this one at some nice plus money, although we expect this one to go off at minus money.
Cole Caufield Anytime Goalscorer (+125) at BetMGM
Montreal Canadiens vs. Toronto Maple Leafs – 7:00 PM EDT
Montreal’s Cole Caulfield had a career-best goals return, with the 13th most in the league last season (37 goals in 82 games). This was a huge jump for the 24 year old who’s previous best was 28 goals the prior season.
We like the +130 odds for Caulfield to find the back of the net against their Canadian rivals. Caulfield has impressive numbers against Toronto, having had 10 goals in 16 career games.
He has failed to score in his previous three games against them. This feels like a good spot for Caulfield to open his account at some nice plus money.
Goalie Saves Props Today
Darcy Kuemper Under 29.5 Saves (+100) at Ceasars
Los Angeles Kings vs. Vegas Golden Knights – 10:00 PM EDT
Darcy Kuemper was hot last season, having allowed only 2.02 goals per game, the second-best in the NHL. He featured in 50 games, which was a respectable number.
With the LA Kings on a back-to-back to start this season, we expect to keep things conservative, especially tonight when facing the Golden Knights. This could be a Golden Knights bombardment on net, but we don’t think so, given the Kings’ conservative approach.
Kuemper has seen fewer than 29 saves in 9 of his previous 12 games against the Golden Knights, and we expect more of the same tonight. This is really good value at +100, and we would even bet the under 30.5 line for -115.
Place Your NHL Player Props Today
With six NHL player prop bets on tonight’s card, we advise locking in these bets as early as possible, as odds and lines could shift come puck drop. Connor McDavid had the 4th most assists last season, so don’t be surprised to see his odds drop even lower come game time to pick up an assist on home ice.
