- Oilers vs. Ducks: Over 6.5 Goals (-115) at Bet365
Tampa Bay Lightning vs. New York Rangers
Wednesday, April 05, 2023 – 07:30 PM EDT at Madison Square Garden
How Invested are Tampa Bay
Right now Tampa Bay trail the N.Y. Rangers by 5 points in the Eastern Conference, with the Rangers 5th and Lightning 6th.
Both teams have five games remaining this season, so it’s likely at the very least Tampa Bay will need to win here to be in with a chance of catching the Rangers. With this said, Tampa Bay are already guaranteed to make the playoffs and surpass the Wild Card round.
At the minute the Lightning are currently facing the Toronto Maple Leafs in the first round, but that could change to either the New Jersey Devils or N.Y. Rangers come the end of the regular season.
N.Y. Rangers Finishing Season Strong
Having surpassed the 100 points mark this season against the Washington Capitals in their previous game, the N.Y. Rangers become the 7th team this season to score 100 or more points.
With the playoffs on the horizon they have ramped up the peace towards the end of the season having now won 10 of their previous 15 games. The Rangers will likely play New Jersey Devils in the first round of the postseason, but it also could be Toronto or tonight’s opponents, time will tell.
The Pick
The Tampa Bay Lightning have not been as strong on the road this season, going 18-19-1 overall and have lost six of their previous ten games. Although the N.Y. Rangers struggled at home for long parts of the season, they have since gone 7-3 in their previous 10 games and scored an average of 5.6 goals in those seven victories.
Out OddsTrader computer predicts a 3-2 home win and we were originally leaning the Rangers in this spot so we are more than happy to lay the -110 juice with New York in this NHL Eastern Conference matchup.
Tampa Bay have lost 5 of their previous 6 games at Madison Square Garden.
OddsTrader Score Prediction: Tampa Bay Lightning 2 – New York Rangers 3
OddsTrader NHL Pick: New York Rangers ML (-110) at FanDuel
Edmonton Oilers vs. Anaheim Ducks
Wednesday, April 05, 2023 – 10:00 PM EDT at Honda Center
Oilers Push For Conference
It’s amazing to think Edmonton seems to have finally put the pieces together, having flirted with the top brass in the Western Conference for much of the season, their recent 9-1 and 12-3 record has seen them move to within second place in the Western Conference, trailing 1st placed Las Vegas Golden Knights by three points.
With just four games remaining, the Oilers are in with a chance, as three of the four games are very winnable, whilst Las Vegas have four very tough games.
Edmonton come into tonight’s road game on a back-to-back having beaten the LA Kings 3-1 last night.
Ducks Can Almost See the Light
By light, we mean the end of the season as things have not been exciting on the Anaheim front these days. As we all know the Ducks are shockingly bad defensively, allowing 4.10 goals per game and have seen the second most amount of shots against, the second worst powerplay and the worst penalty kill.
To top it all off they are just 3-12 in their previous 15 and 1-9 in their last 10. The end of the season can’t come quick enough.
The Pick
Many expected the Oilers and Kings matchup last night to produce goals, it ended with only four, but we see tonight’s game against the Ducks almost guaranteeing goals as we have the top goalscorer’s in the NHL facing the worst defense.
7 of the previous 8 head to heads have ended on 7+ goals and the one under ended with six goals, which was last time out when the Oilers won 6-0.
Our computer is predicting 8 goals tonight, and we see seven being scored at the very least, take over 6.5 goals at -115, the Oilers have seen the most amount of 7+ goal games in the league on the road this season.
OddsTrader Score Prediction: Edmonton Oilers 5 – Anaheim Ducks 3
OddsTrader NHL Pick: Over 6.5 (-115) at Bet365
