Optioned to Triple-A
Francis was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo on Friday, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.
ANALYSIS
This is all about getting a fresh arm for a tired Blue Jays bullpen after Francis pitched the last two days. He certainly didn't deserve to be sent down, having posted a 1.73 ERA in 20 appearances this season.

Earns three inning save
Francis picked up the save Sunday against the Reds. He allowed one run on two hits and zero walks while striking out four over three innings.
ANALYSIS
With the Blue Jays up big, Francis was called upon to pitch the final three frames, earning his first career save in the process. Though working mostly in low-leverage situations, the reliever has been effective when called upon with a 2.03 ERA and 0.83 WHIP in 26.2 innings.

ANALYSIS
The 27-year-old righty has a 2.63 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 12 strikeouts in 13.2 innings across six relief appearances this season. He had been working as a starter at Triple-A, but should work in low-leverage situations while up with the big club.

ANALYSIS
Both Francis and Ernie Clement were sent down by the Blue Jays, with corresponding moves slated to come later this week. Francis has pitched well in his brief time with the big club this season, collecting a 2.63 ERA and 12:4 K:BB over 13.2 relief innings.

Collects first big-league win
Francis (1-0) was credited with the win in Wednesday's 6-1 victory over the Giants, allowing one run on four hits over four innings. He struck out two without walking a batter.
ANALYSIS
The 27-year-old rookie took the mound in the fourth inning with the Jays ahead 5-0, after Trevor Richards had spun three shutout frames, and aside from an Austin Slater solo shot, Francis was effective over 47 pitches (32 strikes) en route to his first career win in the majors. The right-hander has worked multiple innings in four of his five MLB appearances, often serving as the back half of a tandem with Richards, and Francis has delivered a 2.92 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 10:4 K:BB through 12.1 innings. The role does afford him some fantasy upside as a source of further wins, but he's already been optioned back to Triple-A Buffalo twice since making his season debut in early June as Toronto juggles its pitching staff while trying to cover the fifth spot in its rotation.

Back in Toronto
The Blue Jays recalled Francis from Triple-A Buffalo on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
After Adam Cimber (shoulder) landed on the 15-day IL on Saturday, Francis will come up from the minors to take Cimber's spot in Toronto's bullpen. The 27-year-old righty has appeared in three games for the Jays this season, surrendering three earned runs over 7.1 frames while striking out seven batters.

ANALYSIS
Toronto will swap Francis out of its bullpen for a fresher arm in Trent Thornton, who was called up from Buffalo in a corresponding move. Francis had most recently covered 2.2 scoreless innings out of the bullpen Saturday against the Rangers, striking out two while allowing four baserunners. As he returns to the minors, Francis will likely get stretched back out for starting duty.

ANALYSIS
Francis provided 2.2 innings of relief work for Toronto against the Twins on Saturday, and since he likely wouldn't be available for the next few days the Blue Jays recalled a fresh arm in Thomas Hatch to take his place on the roster. Francis will likely be back with Toronto at some point this summer.

ANALYSIS
Francis has been excellent with Buffalo this season, posting a 3.45 ERA and 23:4 K:BB over 15.2 innings covering four starts. The Blue Jays haven't revealed their plans for the 27-year-old, but he would seem to be a candidate to slide into the rotation spot vacated by Alek Manoah.

The 26-year-old will return to Triple-A, where he has a 4.11 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 17:5 K:BB over 15.1 innings this season.

Solid in MLB debut

ANALYSIS
Francis was called up by the Blue Jays on Monday and made his MLB debut Wednesday. He entered the game with runners on first and third and immediately gave up an RBI double, but the run was charged to Andrew Vasquez. However, Francis bounced back against the subsequent hitter -- Enrique Hernandez -- and recorded his first MLB strikeout and finished the outing by inducing an inning-ending groundout.

ANALYSIS
Francis has yet to make his major-league debut. He's made three starts so far this season for Triple-A Buffalo, striking out 27.0 percent of opposing batters while posting a mediocre 4.11 ERA. He'll likely serve a multi-inning relief role for now.

Heads to minors
The Blue Jays optioned Francis to their minor-league camp Monday, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports.
ANALYSIS
Francis has yet to reach the majors, but the Blue Jays thought highly enough of the 25-year-old right-hander's potential to protect him from Rule 5 draft this winter by adding him to the 40-man roster. After being acquired from the Brewers last July, Francis made 14 appearances (13 starts) for Triple-A Buffalo, recording a 4.19 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 71:31 K:BB across 73 innings.

ANALYSIS
The 25-year-old righty had a 4.19 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 71 strikeouts in 73 innings at Triple-A after getting dealt from Milwaukee along with Trevor Richards in the Rowdy Tellez trade. Francis could get his feet wet as a big-league reliever in 2022.

Traded to Blue Jays
Francis was traded from the Brewers to the Blue Jays on Tuesday in exchange for Rowdy Tellez, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.
ANALYSIS
Francis spent the final month of the 2020 campaign at the Brewers' alternate training site in Appleton, and he was promoted to Triple-A Nashville in 2021. The right-hander made seven starts with the Triple-A club and posted a 3.49 ERA and 0.99 WHIP in 38.2 innings. He'll likely report to Triple-A Buffalo going forward but could be considered for a major-league roster spot at some point in the second half of 2021.
