Elder will start Wednesday in Game 3 of the NLDS in Philadelphia, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

The decision came down to Elder and AJ Smith-Shawver and Atlanta has opted for the more experienced hurler. Elder posted a 3.81 ERA over 31 starts this season, but he held a 5.11 ERA in the second half and allowed 13 runs over 12.1 innings covering his last three regular season outings. There will be a short leash for Elder in this one, with Smith-Shawver looming as an alternative if a quick hook is required.

Elder is scheduled to pitch in an intrasquad game Thursday in Atlanta, lining him up for a potential NLDS Game 3 start next Wednesday at Philadelphia, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

Spencer Strider and Max Fried (finger) are pretty much locked into Games 1 and 2 at Truist Park in Atlanta, and the NL East champs will probably then turn to Elder to handle Game 3 at Citizens Bank Park. The young right-hander struggled over his final three regular-season starts, yielding 13 earned runs in 12.1 innings, but he delivered a solid 3.81 ERA across 174.2 total frames for the year and earned his first NL All-Star nod.

Elder won't start as originally scheduled Sunday against Washington, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

With Elder already well past his career-high innings total (180.2), Atlanta will skip his next turn in the rotation heading into the postseason. The 24-year-old has given up 13 runs in 12.1 innings over his last three starts, so perhaps the extended rest period will help him return to form in the NLDS. The team has not yet named a replacement starter for the final game of the season.

Elder did not factor into the decision Tuesday, allowing five runs on seven hits and four walks over 3.2 innings against the Cubs. He struck out two.

Elder's rough stretch continued against the Cubs -- he's now allowed 13 runs in his last three starts (12.1 innings) while failing to make it through four innings in his last two outings, issuing nine walks in that span (7.1 innings). Overall, Elder's ERA is up to 3.81 with a 1.28 WHIP and 128:63 K:BB across 31 starts (174.2) innings this season. He'll look to bounce back and end his year on a high note as Elder's currently lined up to face the Nationals in Atlanta's final regular season game this weekend.

Elder did not factor into the decision Wednesday, allowing four runs on three hits and five walks over 3.2 innings against the Phillies. He did not record any strikeouts.

Elder got off to a rough start, issuing three walks in the first inning, including back-to-back walks to open the frame, which led to one run coming home for Philadelphia. The right-hander would then surrender two home runs to Nick Castellanos on the day, with the first one coming in the leadoff at-bat to begin the second inning. Elder has now allowed four runs in back-to-back starts, though it marked the first time since July 18 that he failed to make it through at least four frames. He also issued a season-high five walks in the contest while not recording any strikeouts for only the second time this season.

Elder allowed four earned runs on nine hits and no walks while striking out six across five innings Friday against the Marlins. He did not factor into the decision.

The Marlins got to Elder early as three of his earned runs came in the first inning. He managed to settle in thereafter and tallied 14 swinging strikes on 92 total pitches and also induced six groundball outs. After a rocky stretch in the immediate aftermath of the All-Star break, Elder has maintained a 2.97 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and a 29:12 K:BB across 36.1 frames in his last six starts.

Elder (12-4) allowed two runs on four hits and a walk over seven innings Friday, striking out nine and earning a win over the Pirates.

Elder fired five scoreless innings before serving up a two-run homer to Jack Suwinski in the sixth. Elder's nine punchouts set a new season best and it was his first time with more than five strikeouts since June 22. He's gone 4-0 with a stellar 2.30 ERA over his last five starts, lowering his season ERA to 3.38 through 162.1 frames. Elder is currently lined up for a start in Philadelphia next week.

Elder allowed a run on five hits and four walks while striking out four over six innings in a no-decision versus the Dodgers on Saturday.

Elder was able to secure his second quality start in six outings since the start of August despite not having his best command Saturday. The four walks matched his season high, and he's failed to record more than five strikeouts in a start since June 22. The 24-year-old is at a 3.42 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 111:53 K:BB through 155.1 innings across 27 starts. Elder is tentatively lined up for a home start versus the Pirates next week.

Elder (11-4) earned the win over Colorado on Monday, allowing four runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out four batters over six innings.

The outing was far from Elder's best, but that's hardly a surprise given that he was pitching at Coors Field. The right-hander nonetheless fared moderately well, giving his team six frames and departing with a 5-4 lead. That more than held up the rest of the way, as Atlanta used a late offensive surge to turn the contest into a rout. Elder thus recorded his third straight win, and he's posted a 2.45 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 10:7 K:BB over 18.1 innings during that stretch. Among qualified NL starters, he ranks eighth with a 3.50 ERA and 12th with a 1.21 WHIP on the campaign.

Elder (10-4) picked up the win Tuesday in a 3-2 victory over the Mets, allowing one run on two hits and three walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out three.

The lone run charged to the right-hander scored after he'd left the mound, as Elder blanked the Mets for five frames before Pierce Johnson relieved him with one on in the sixth and promptly served up a homer to Daniel Vogelbach. Elder continues to offer little in the strikeout department -- he hasn't fanned more than five batters in a start since June 22 -- and since the All-Star break he's posted a 4.58 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 23:14 K:BB through 37.1 innings. With the Atlanta offense at his back he's won three of his last five outings, but he'll be a ratio risk in his next start, which is likely to come early next week at Coors Field.

Elder (9-4) picked up the win in Tuesday's 5-0 victory over the Yankees, scattering one hit and three walks over seven scoreless innings. He struck out three.

What few baserunners Elder allowed got erased by double plays, and only one Yankee even reached second base while the right-hander was on the mound. It was an impressive rebound after the 24-year-old has coughed up 12 runs (10 earned) over his prior two outings, but since the beginning of July, Elder still carries a 5.79 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 21:17 K:BB through 42 innings. He'll look to stay on track in his next start, which is likely to come at home early next week against the Mets.

Elder (8-4) took the loss Thursday, allowing five runs on six hits and two walks over five innings against the Pirates. He struck out five.

Elder began struggling in the bottom of the third, allowing three runs on two hits and a walk, while also hitting Josh Palacios with a pitch. The right-hander managed to avoid any further damage over the next two frames but was again victimized by the Pirates' offense in the sixth, this time for two runs, before being relieved by Joe Jimenez. It was the fourth time in his last six starts that Elder allowed at least five runs and he's now lost three of his last four decisions. He's surrendered 10 runs and 13 hits over 9.1 innings of work to open the month of August.

Elder (8-3) took the loss Saturday, allowing seven runs (five earned) on seven hits and three walks over 4.1 innings against the Cubs. He struck out three.

Elder struggled with his command from the jump, issuing walks to Mike Tauchman and Nico Hoerner in the first two at-bats before then surrendering home runs off the bats of Dansby Swanson and Jeimer Candelario. The right-hander would only be charged with three of the five runs that came across in the frame, thanks to a fielding error by Matt Olson, though he would allow another run in both the fourth and fifth innings. Elder has now allowed five or more runs in three of his last five starts, registering a 12:10 K:BB over that stretch.

Elder (8-2) earned the win over Milwaukee on Saturday, allowing one run on four hits and no walks while striking out three batters over seven innings.

Elder was both efficient and effective in the outing, needing just 86 pitches (59 strikes) to get through seven innings. The right-hander pitched to contact, notching just six swinging strikes and three punchouts, but picked up his 13th quality start of the campaign -- tied for fourth-most in the majors. Elder looked like he could be hitting a wall when he allowed a combined 14 runs (12 earned) across a pair of starts in mid-July, but he's since bounced back to finish the month with consecutive strong outings during which he's yielded just three runs over 13 frames.

After allowing seven runs in each of his last two starts, Elder was able to get himself back on track. He allowed a solo home run to Brice Turang in this contest, which was the fourth homer Elder's given up in his last three outings. He's surrendered just 12 long balls all season. The 24-year-old is at a 3.30 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 86:37 K:BB through 114.2 innings over 20 starts this season. Elder is projected for a rematch with the Brewers in Atlanta in his next start.

Elder didn't factor into the decision in Tuesday's 16-13 loss to the Diamondbacks, surrendering seven runs (five earned) on seven hits and a walk over 2.2 innings. He struck out four.

His defense did him no favors, but Elder also wasn't sharp and need 76 pitches (49 strikes) to record just eight outs. The 24-year-old right-hander has been tagged for 12 earned runs in six innings during his two starts bracketing the All-Star break, pushing his ratios up to a 3.31 ERA and 1.24 WHIP. He'll look to get back on track in his next outing, likely to come this weekend in Milwaukee.

Elder (7-2) was charged with the loss Sunday in Tampa Bay after he gave up seven runs on six hits and four walks across 3.1 innings. He did not record any strikeouts.

The rookie right-hander generated just four swinging strikes on 69 pitches as the Rays struck for four runs in the first inning and three more in the fourth. It's the first time in 18 starts this season Elder failed to pitch at least five frames, and the seven runs allowed are also a season worst. The 24-year-old still finished the first half of the campaign with a 2.97 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 80:34 K:BB in 106 innings.

Elder (7-1) earned the win over Cleveland on Monday, allowing two runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out one batter over 6.2 innings.

Elder retired the side in order in just one of the innings during which he pitched, but the Guardians failed to score through six frames. They finally broke through with a pair of runs off the right-hander in the seventh, which ended his outing after 92 pitches. Nonetheless, Elder pitched well enough to notch his seventh win and record his fourth straight quality start. He's posted an uninspiring 15:8 K:BB over 25.2 innings during that stretch but has still managed an excellent 1.75 ERA and 1.01 WHIP.

Elder (6-1) picked up the win Tuesday, giving up two runs on four hits and four walks over six innings in a 6-2 victory over the Twins. He struck out four.

The right-hander also hit a batter and tossed a wild pitch as he threw only 59 of 98 pitches for strikes, and his defense committed four errors on the night. Fortunately, Atlanta's offense out-slugged the mistakes, backing Elder with five homers in the first two innings. The quality start was his third straight and 10th of the season in 16 outings, and the 24-year-old rookie will take a 2.44 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 79:28 K:BB through 96 innings into his next start, likely to come early next week in Cleveland.

Elder took a no-decision in Thursday's extra-inning win over the Phillies after he allowed three hits and two walks across seven scoreless innings. He struck out six.

The young right-hander generated just 11 swinging strikes on 99 pitches but consistently worked from ahead in the count and held Philadelphia without an extra-base hit. Elder struggled in his first two starts of June with nine runs allowed, but he's now given up just one run on seven hits in his past two outings. The rookie has taken advantage of the injuries to Atlanta's starting rotation and has a 2.40 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 75:24 K:BB over 90 innings this year.

Elder (5-1) earned the win over Colorado on Saturday, allowing one run on four hits and no walks while striking out four batters over six innings.

Atlanta staked Elder to a 9-0 lead through three innings, so it was a relatively stress-free outing for the rookie. He surrendered a solo homer to Mike Moustakas in the fifth but otherwise cruised to his fifth win and eighth quality start. Elder had hit a rough patch in his previous two outings, surrendering nine runs over 11.1 frames, so this was a promising bounce-back performance. The right-hander has established himself as a key part of Atlanta's rotation, posting a 2.60 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 69:22 K:BB over 83 innings on the campaign.

Elder (4-1) took the loss Sunday, allowing five runs on eight hits and one walk over 5.1 innings against the Nationals. He struck out one.

Elder couldn't get through the sixth inning, snapping a four-game streak, and surrendered a season-high five runs during his first loss. The right-hander has allowed three home runs over his past two starts after giving up just four long balls across his first 11 appearances. Overall, the 24-year-old still boasts solid numbers (2.69 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 65:22 K:BB) through 13 starts (77 innings), but he's currently in a two-game slide. Elder will look to get back on track next time out, which is tentatively scheduled during a four-game set versus the Rockies.

Elder (4-0) picked up the win Tuesday, giving up four runs on four hits and two walks over six innings as Atlanta downed the Mets 6-4. He struck out eight.

A pair of two-run homers in the third inning by Francisco Lindor and Pete Alonso accounted for all the Mets' offense, but Elder settled down after that and gave his team a chance to come back. The eight K's were a season high for the 24-year-old righty, and Elder will take a sharp 2.26 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 64:21 K:BB through 71.2 innings into his next outing, likely to come at home this weekend against the Nationals.

Elder allowed a run on five hits and three walks while striking out five over 7.1 innings in a no-decision versus Oakland on Tuesday.

Elder continues to be a victim of a lack of run support -- Atlanta has scored a total of 16 runs over his last five starts, all of which have been no-decisions. He's done his part in that span by allowing just seven runs over 29.2 innings. The 24-year-old right-hander trimmed his ERA to 1.92 with a 1.16 WHIP and 56:19 K:BB through 65.2 innings overall. Elder will look to keep his strong pitching going at home versus the Mets next week.

Elder tossed six innings against the Dodgers on Wednesday, allowing one run on seven hits and one walk while striking out six batters. He did not factor in the decision.

Elder allowed six batters to reach base through his first three frames but prevented Los Angeles from notching any runs. The Dodgers finally got to him in the fifth on a Mookie Betts solo homer, though that was all the run production they managed against the rookie over six innings. An eighth-inning LA rally kept Elder winless for the fourth straight outing despite the fact that he hasn't yielded more than two runs in any appearance during that stretch. The 24-year-old has been a revelation for both Atlanta and fantasy managers this season, as he's registered a 2.01 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 51:16 K:BB through 10 starts covering 58.1 frames.

Elder was dominant for most of Friday's outing, tossing six shutout frames while just one baserunner reached scoring position. He was then charged with two runs after putting three straight batters on base without recording an out in the seventh. Elder forced a career-high 14 whiffs, his first time hitting the double-digit mark in that category since April 26. The second-year righty now owns a 2.06 ERA and a 45:15 K:BB through nine starts. Elder is lined up for a home outing against the Dodgers next week.

He'll look to get back in the win column in his next outing, likely to come at home next weekend against the Mariners.

While he's due for some regression, Edler's been able to limit damage throughout the year thanks to a 57.6 percent ground ball rate.

Elder (3-0) earned the win Tuesday, allowing no runs on three hits over seven innings against the Marlins. He struck out six.

The Marlins had no answer for Elder on Tuesday. The 23-year-old right-hander held Miami to just three hits (all singles) in a season-high seven scoreless innings. Elder lowered his ERA to 1.75 with a 1.06 WHIP and 32:9 K:BB through 36 innings. While an 88.4 percent strand rate indicates that Edler is likely due for some regression, he's been able to limit damage thanks to a 55 percent ground-ball rate.

Elder was plagued by the long ball Wednesday, giving up solo homers to Jesus Sanchez, Jazz Chisholm and Avisail Garcia in his time on the mound. Leading up to the outing, Elder hadn't allowed a home run through 23.2 innings and hadn't allowed a run in three of his four starts. The 24-year-old boasts a 2-0 record to pair with a 2.17 ERA and 8.07 K/9.

Elder allowed one unearned run on five hits and a walk through six innings during Friday's loss to Houston. He struck out six and did not factor in the decision.

After the Astros tallied a run in the first frame, Elder settled in for another great performance. He worked around a few small threats throughout the rest of the contest and was in line for the win before Atlanta's bullpen fell apart late. The 23-year-old righty lowered his ERA to 1.14 with a 23:7 K:BB through four starts. He's already turned in three outings without allowing an earned run. Elder is lined up to face Miami at home next week.

Elder (2-0) earned a victory over Kansas City on Saturday, allowing three runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out four batters over 5.1 innings.

Elder wasn't nearly as successful as in his first two outings of the campaign, when he hurled 12.1 scoreless innings. The right-hander nonetheless managed his way to a win, holding the Royals to just one run over his first four frames and departing in the sixth with a three-run lead. One of the runs charged to him came after he departed, and Elder again showed a solid arsenal in racking up 13 swinging strikes. He has forced his way into Atlanta's rotation by winning two of his first three starts while posting a 1.53 ERA over his first 17.2 frames.

Elder allowed six hits and a walk over 6.1 innings during Monday's win over the Reds. He struck out seven and did not factor in the decision.

Elder was in line for his second win before Atlanta's bullpen blew a lead in the ninth inning. He worked out of a few potentially-dangerous situations to keep the Reds off the board. Elder forced 14 swinging strikes on 103 total pitches, including seven with the slider. He's fired 12.1 shutout frames with a 13:4 K:BB through two starts. Elder is currently lined up to start in Kansas City this weekend.

Elder (1-0) picked up the win in his season debut Wednesday, allowing two hits and three walks over six scoreless innings in a 5-2 victory over the Cardinals. He struck out six.

The 23-year-old right-hander threw only 47 of 79 pitches for strikes but kept St. Louis' hitters from making much hard contact, and Elder made a strong case to remain in the Atlanta rotation while pitchers like Max Fried (hamstring) and Kyle Wright (shoulder) are on the shelf. At the very least, Elder should make one more start next week at home against the Reds, before Wright's projected return April 11.

Elder was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett by Atlanta on Tuesday.

Elder will slide into Atlanta's rotation on Wednesday versus the Cardinals in place of the injured Max Fried (hamstring). He could get at least one additional start as Fried recuperates, although that will depend on how he and Dylan Dodd perform and also when Kyle Wright (shoulder) returns.

Elder is the most likely candidate to get called up when Max Fried (hamstring) is placed on the injured list, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

Ian Anderson was the other option, but he got hammered for three home runs in two-thirds of an inning Sunday for Triple-A Gwinnett. Elder didn't have a great beginning to his season either, allowing four runs over six innings for Gwinnett on Friday, but he'll be on schedule to step into Atlanta's rotation Wednesday against the Cardinals.

Elder was optioned Tuesday to Triple-A Gwinnett by Atlanta.

Both Elder and Ian Anderson were optioned to Triple-A by Atlanta, so it will be interesting to see what the plan is for the club in terms of a fifth starter. Elder was bidding for a spot in that rotation, but it appears the right-hander will begin the season in the minors. It seems likely that Elder will still make starts for Atlanta at some point in 2023.

Elder gave up one hit and struck out three over three scoreless innings in Friday's Grapefruit League game against the Astros.

Facing a Houston lineup that contained the likes of Jose Altuve, Kyle Tucker and Alex Bregman, Elder fared much better than he had in his first spring start. The 23-year-old righty is very much in the mix for an Opening Day rotation spot, and he might even be the favorite at the moment with Mike Soroka (hamstring) still having trouble staying healthy and Ian Anderson scuffling so far in camp.

Elder has posted a 0.65 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 28:8 K:BB over 27.2 innings in four spot starts dating back to mid-August, but it should be noted all four outings came against Miami or Washington.

He should have a good chance to work five innings -- pending his effectiveness -- as a result. Elder was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett ahead of the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Marlins, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Elder spent a week in the minors but will rejoin Atlanta's bullpen to provide assistance during Saturday's nightcap. He should be available as a multi-inning reliever after he posted a 5.48 ERA and 1.73 WHIP in 21.1 innings over his first five appearances (four starts) in the big leagues.

Atlanta returned Elder to Triple-A Gwinnett following Saturday's doubleheader with the Mets.

Back in the majors for the first time since late April, Elder appeared in long relief in Atlanta's 8-5 loss in Game 1, covering 2.1 innings and striking out two while allowing three earned runs on five hits. He'll settle back into a starting role as he returns to Gwinnett, but he's unlikely to pick up additional starts with Atlanta this season unless the big club loses multiple rotation members to injury.

Elder is up as Atlanta's 27th man for Saturday's doubleheader against the Mets, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

Elder had a 2.48 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 24:9 K:BB in 32.2 innings over five July starts at Triple-A. Jake Odorizzi and Max Fried will start the two games, with Elder serving as a potential long reliever if one of the starters exits early.

Elder tossed eight shutout innings Monday against Triple-A Louisville, allowing just two hits and a walk with eight strikeouts. He now has a 5.10 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 33:10 K:BB across 30 innings for Gwinnett.

Elder was masterful, as he had a no-hitter going through six before settling for a merely excellent outing rather than a legendary one. He mostly struggled through four starts in the majors this year and has had a couple of blowups in the minors as well, but Elder still has intriguing potential. It all comes down to his control -- when it's there, he's dominant, but when it isn't, the wheels can come off quickly. Elder has issued three-plus walks in five of his nine starts this season between Triple-A and the majors; he's posted a 1.97 WHIP and 15:21 K:BB in those outings. In the other four, he's put up a 0.68 WHIP and 30:3 K:BB. That's about as stark as it gets in terms of game-to-game variance. If Elder can find a way to locate his pitches more consistently, the upside could be tremendous, but there's obviously a lot of volatility here.

Atlanta optioned Elder to Triple-A Gwinnett on Sunday.

He'll return to the minors one day after he took his third loss in as many starts, this time falling to the Rangers. After limiting the Nationals to three earned runs over 5.2 innings en route to capturing the win in his MLB debut April 12, Elder has failed to get out of the fifth inning in each of his subsequent three turns. Over those outings, he's submitted a 4.73 ERA, 1.95 WHIP and most troublingly, an 8:14 K:BB in 13.1 innings. Atlanta will replace him in the rotation with Kyle Muller, who was called up from Triple-A to start Sunday's series finale in Texas.

Elder (1-2) allowed two runs on five hits and six walks while striking out four in 4.2 innings to take the loss Sunday against the Marlins.

Elder threw just 54 of his 96 pitches for strikes Sunday, but he was relatively effective at limiting runs. He held Miami scoreless for the first four innings before giving up a pair of runs with two outs in the fifth frame. The right-hander has now been charged with back-to-back losses, and he has a 4.30 ERA and 1.70 WHIP in 14.2 innings. He tentatively lines up to make his next start on the road against the Rangers on Saturday.

Elder (1-1) took the loss during Sunday's 2-1 defeat against San Diego, allowing two runs on three hits and five walks with three strikeouts.

Making his second career start, Elder labored through the first two innings -- allowing seven baserunners and both runs between the two innings. The five walks are a bit concerning, though he didn't allow a free pass during his first start and didn't have an especially high walk rate in the minor leagues. He's currently set to face off against Miami on Sunday.

Elder will start Sunday's game against the Padres, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

Elder was initially expected to start Monday's series opener against the Dodgers, but he'll now move up to pitch on normal rest in Sunday's matchup against a more favorable opponent. The right-hander made his major-league debut Tuesday against the Nationals and allowed three runs on six hits and no walks while striking out four in 5.2 innings. Huascar Ynoa will now be pushed back to start Monday.

Elder (1-0) recorded the win in Tuesday's 16-4 rout of the Nationals, giving up three runs on six hits over 5.2 innings. He struck out four without walking a batter.

Making his major-league debut, Elder was sharp overall and threw 50 of 85 pitches for strikes, but he faded in the sixth inning, serving up back-to-back homers to Juan Soto and Josh Bell before a Yadiel Hernandez ground-rule double sent the right-hander to the showers. If Atlanta elects to stick with a six-man rotation for another turn, Elder has likely done enough to earn a second start, but he'd face a tough matchup Monday on the road against the Dodgers.

Elder's contract was selected by Atlanta on Tuesday ahead of his scheduled MLB debut against Washington.

Elder will step in for a spot start with Atlanta looking to give Max Fried an extra day of rest prior to his second outing of the year. The 22-year-old righty was merely a fifth-round pick in the 2020 draft, but he looked good across the three highest minor-league levels last season. In 25 starts, he cruised to a 2.75 ERA and 1.10 WHIP, with a strong 27.7 percent strikeout rate offsetting his 10.2 percent walk rate.

Atlanta is expected to call up Elder from Triple-A Gwinnett to start Tuesday's home game against the Nationals, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

Tucker Davidson was initially in line to start Tuesday, but he won't be available after covering 2.2 innings out of the bullpen in Monday's 11-2 loss in the series opener. Though Opening Day starter Max Fried would be available to take the hill on his normal four days' rest, manager Brian Snitker said after Monday's contest that the southpaw wasn't an option, according to Bowman. With Atlanta seemingly committed to using a six-man rotation to begin the season, Elder, one of the organization's top pitching prospects, will step in to fill the void. The 22-year-old righty won't be guaranteed any starts beyond Tuesday, but if he pitches well in his MLB debut, it's possible that Atlanta considers keeping him in the fold as the sixth starter ahead of Davidson, who was hit hard in relief Monday. Across stops at High-A Rome, Double-A Mississippi and Gwinnett in 2021, Elder posted a 2.75 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 155:57 K:BB over 137.2 innings.
