ANALYSIS
Stott had gone 4-for-34 over a nine-game stretch without a multi-hit effort before putting the slump to rest in the regular-season finale. This season was a breakout year for the second baseman. He posted a .280/.329/.419 slash line with 15 home runs, 62 RBI, 78 runs scored and 31 stolen bases over 151 games, and he should be the starter at the keystone for the Phillies in the playoffs.

ANALYSIS
Rodolfo Castro will start at second base and bat sixth as the Phillies face off against left-hander MacKenzie Gore. Stott has been on fire since the All-Star break, hitting safely in six straight games and batting .417 (10-for-24) over that stretch to boost his slash line on the season to .307/.344/.440 with nine homers, 16 steals, 36 RBI and 47 runs in 91 contests.

Jul 8, 2023
Sitting against southpaw
Stott isn't in the Phillies' lineup Saturday against the Marlins.
ANALYSIS

Jul 1, 2023
Hits bench Saturday
Stott will sit Saturday against lefty MacKenzie Gore and the Nationals.
ANALYSIS
The Phillies have been going away from Stott against southpaws recently, as he's now sat against four of the last five the team has faced, with Josh Harrison getting the nod each time. Stott has actually fared better against same-sided pitching in both of his MLB seasons thus far, slashing .289/.355/.417 against lefties for his career and just .249/.294/.370 against righties, a fact which could see him return to a true everyday role down the line.
Jun 28, 2023
Sitting against lefty
Stott is not in the lineup Wednesday versus the Cubs.
ANALYSIS
Philly will roll out a right-heavy lineup with left-hander Drew Smyly on the bump for Chicago. Josh Harrison is playing second base and batting seventh.
Jun 24, 2023
Swipes 12th bag
Stott went 1-for-3 with a run scored, an RBI and a stolen base in Friday's 5-1 win over the Mets.
ANALYSIS
The 25-year-old infielder added to a strong June that has seen Stott slash .313/.351/.493 with two of his seven homers and four of his 12 steals on the year. He's been mainly hitting fifth or sixth in the order lately after spending much of the first part of the season in the leadoff spot, but as long as Stott is producing, manager Rob Thomson isn't likely to move him back up.
Jun 16, 2023
Out versus lefty
Stott isn't in the Phillies' lineup Friday against Oakland.
ANALYSIS
With the left-handed JP Sears starting Friday's game for the A's, the left-handed bat of Stott will retreat to the dugout. Josh Harrison will play at second base instead and bat seventh.
Jun 16, 2023

Stott went 2-for-5 with a solo homer, one RBI and two runs scored in Thursday's 5-4 win over Arizona.

He's also homered in two of his last three and has multiple hits in four of his last six.

Homers as part of three-hit day
Stott went 3-for-5 with a solo home run and two RBI in Tuesday's 15-3 win over the Diamondbacks.
ANALYSIS
Stott added on to the Phillies' lead with a solo blast to right center to make it a 7-0 ballgame. He also notched his third multi-hit effort over his last four games and is slashing .364/.429/.500 with five RBI, six runs and a 4:9 BB:K in 12 games since May 31. Stott has maintained a healthy average throughout the course of the season thus far but was replaced in the leadoff spot earlier this month by Kyle Schwarber with Manager Rob Thompson looking to spark the offense. Schwarber has picked things up lately, but Stott could be given another shot to lead off if Schwarber's struggles return.
Jun 12, 2023
Takes seat versus southpaw
Stott is absent from the lineup for Monday's contest in Arizona, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS

Stott went 2-for-3 with a triple, two RBI and two runs scored in Sunday's 7-3 victory over the Dodgers.
ANALYSIS
Stott drove in a pair of runs with a two-out single in the third inning, giving the Phillies a 3-0 lead. He'd later rope his first triple of the season in the seventh. The 25-year-old Stott is now 10-for-28 (.357) with a .919 OPS in his last eight games. He's had a solid sophomore campaign, slashing .292/.336/.403 with five homers, 26 runs scored, 23 RBI and nine steals.

Not starting Saturday

May 27, 2023
Runs wild in Friday's win
Stott went 2-for-3 with two walks, two runs scored and three stolen bases in Friday's 6-4 win over Atlanta.
ANALYSIS
It's the first time in the 25-year-old infielder's career he's swiped multiple bags in a game, but Stott was able to exploit Travis d'Arnaud's presence behind the plate for Atlanta -- the veteran catcher has caught only one of 10 attempts base stealers this year. Stott is up to eight pilfers on the season, and he's hit safely in 12 of his last 13 games while slashing a blistering .346/.397/.558 with two doubles, three homers, eight RBI and nine runs.
May 21, 2023

ANALYSIS

Stott has now hit safely in eight consecutive games, going 11-for-32 with two home runs in that span. The 25-year-old shortstop is slashing .288/.321/.397 with four home runs, 16 runs scored, 18 RBI and five stolen bases through 196 plate appearances this season.
May 21, 2023
Takes seat on bench to open Sunday
Stott is not in the starting lineup against the Cubs on Sunday, Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

May 17, 2023
Ends homer drought
Stott went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's loss to the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Stott tied the game with a fifth-inning solo shot, as the Phillies erased a 4-0 deficit only to lose 7-4. It was the second baseman's first homer since April 23, as he has hit a slump. After slashing .319/.347/.429 in April, Stott's slash line is .192/.259/.269 in May. He should even out and could flirt with a .700 OPS.
May 14, 2023
Earns fifth steal
Stott went 2-for-5 with a stolen base in Sunday's 4-0 loss to the Rockies.
ANALYSIS
This was Stott's second straight multi-hit effort, and he's picked up two steals over his last four games. The second baseman hit safely in 17 straight contests to begin the season, but he's cooled dramatically in May, batting .179 (7-for-39) through 10 games this month. He's still at a solid .284/.316/.370 slash line with two home runs, five steals, 12 RBI and 12 runs scored through 38 contests overall.
May 12, 2023
Not in Friday's lineup

ANALYSIS
Stott will take a seat against left-handed Austin Gomber. Josh Harrison is handling second base.
May 7, 2023
Hitting leadoff Sunday
Stott is starting at second base and batting leadoff Sunday against the Red Sox.
ANALYSIS
The 25-year-old dropped from the leadoff spot Tuesday but will return to the top of the order after he went 1-for-12 with two RBI and a run over the past four games. Stott has hit leadoff 19 times this season and has a .261/.301/.375 slash line in 93 plate appearances during those contests. Kyle Schwarber will drop back to fifth after filling in atop the lineup.
May 5, 2023
Not in lineup Friday
Stott is not in the starting lineup Friday against the Red Sox.
ANALYSIS
This looks to be a routine day of rest for Stott, who drove in two runs in Wednesday's series finale at Dodger Stadium. Josh Harrison will cover second base and bat eighth Friday versus Boston. Kyle Schwarber is hitting leadoff.
May 2, 2023
Dropped to fifth spot in order
Stott will bat fifth for the Phillies on Tuesday against the Dodgers.
ANALYSIS
Stott has been occupying the leadoff spot against both righties and lefties over the last couple of weeks, but the reigning NL champs will switch things up Tuesday at Dodger Stadium as they welcome Bryce Harper (elbow) back into the fold. Kyle Schwarber is at the top of the order with lefty Julio Urias on the mound for Los Angeles. Trea Turner will hit second and Harper is batting third.
Apr 22, 2023
Not starting Saturday
Stott will sit Saturday against Kyle Freeland and the Rockies.
ANALYSIS
Stott filled the large side a platoon for much of last season, but he's been an everyday player this year. Saturday marks the first time he's been absent from the lineup, and given that he's off to a .344/.365/.452 start, he's unlikely to suddenly find himself regularly sitting against southpaws. Josh Harrison will fill in for him at second base.
Apr 16, 2023
Leadoff homer to extend hit streak
Stott went 3-for-7 with a solo home run and an RBI single during Sunday's 14-3 win over the Reds.
ANALYSIS
Stott leadoff the game with a solo blast against Luis Cessa, which marked the shortstop's first homer of the season and extended his hit streak to 16 games. He added an RBI single in the the ninth and now has 10 multi-knock outings this year.
Apr 13, 2023
At leadoff still against lefty
Stott is batting leadoff again Thursday against the Reds.
ANALYSIS
And this time he'll do so against a tough lefty in Nick Lodolo. Stott has quickly taken on a prominent role this year for the defending NL champions while slashing .420/.431/.500 with three stolen bases across his first 12 games. He's hit leadoff in three of the last four, with Trea Turner occupying the No. 2 hole.
Apr 11, 2023
To get more leadoff chances
Phillies manager Rob Thomson said Stott will return to the leadoff spot Wednesday, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Stott drew a look at leadoff in Monday's series opener versus the Marlins and right-hander Sandy Alcantara before dropping down to the eighth spot in the order for Tuesday night's game against left-hander Jesus Luzardo. Thomson has suggested that Stott might get more chances at leadoff against righties moving forward, with Trea Turner likely sliding into the No. 2 hole on those occasions.
Apr 3, 2023
Sits against southpaw
Stott is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Yankees.
ANALYSIS
With the Phillies facing off against a lefty (Nestor Cortes) following a Sunday night game, manager Rob Thomson may have viewed Monday's contest as an opportune time to give the lefty-hitting Stott his first breather of the season. Though Josh Harrison will cover second base in his stead, Stott may not necessarily be stuck in a platoon role all season. Stott started against Texas southpaw Martin Perez on Sunday and went 2-for-3 with a walk, bringing his on-base percentage up to .500 through the Phillies' first three games.
Mar 15, 2023
Slow start to spring
Stott has hit just .143/.172/.286 through his first nine Grapefruit League games this spring.
ANALYSIS
Stott will move from shortstop to second base this season due to the arrival of Trea Turner and the departure of Jean Segura. His role as the primary second baseman is unlikely to come under serious threat, but it remains to be seen whether he's a true everyday player or merely on the large side of a platoon. Edmundo Sosa (who has a 1.758 OPS with four homers this spring) started over Stott against southpaws in the playoffs, and the Phillies added another right-handed option in Josh Harrison in late January.
Nov 5, 2022
Out against lefty
Stott will sit for Game 6 of the World Series on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Stott will sit against lefty Framber Valdez, just as he did in Game 2. Edmundo Sosa will get the start at shortstop. batting ninth.
Oct 29, 2022
Hits bench against lefty
Stott will sit for Game 2 of the World Series against the Astros on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Stott hits the bench against lefty Framber Valdez, with Edmundo Sosa starting at shortstop. He could be an option off the bench against a right-handed reliever or as a defensive replacement.
Oct 22, 2022
Two doubles in Game 3 win
Stott went 2-for-3 with two doubles and a run scored during Friday's 4-2 win over the Padres in Game 3 of the NLCS.
ANALYSIS
Stott entered Game 3 only 2-for-19 in the postseason with one extra-base hit, but he was able to smack two doubles in his first two at bats against Joe Musgrove. After his double in the fourth inning, he was plated by a Jean Segura single to give the Phillies a 3-1 lead, and they would hold on for the crucial victory. The 25-year-old rookie played in 127 games during the regular season, and he is gaining valuable experience in the postseason while being able to contribute for his team.
Oct 19, 2022
Resting against lefty
Stott is out of the lineup Wednesday for Game 2 of the Phillies' National League Championship Series with the Padres.
ANALYSIS
The Phillies will send two of their lefty-hitting regulars (Stott and Brandon Marsh) to the bench with southpaw Blake Snell on the hill for San Diego. Edmundo Sosa will check in for Stott at shortstop.
Oct 11, 2022
Not starting Game 1
Stott will be on the bench for Game 1 of the NLDS against Atlanta.
ANALYSIS

Oct 3, 2022
Perfect at plate Monday
Stott went 3-for-3 with a solo home run and a double in Monday's 3-0 win over the Astros.
ANALYSIS
Stott reached base in all four of his plate appearances Monday, just the second time that he has reached base four times in his young career. The home run, a solo shot which came in the top of the eighth, was his 10th of the season and first since Sept. 3. The rookie is heating up to close the season, as he is now 9-for-17 over his last five games with three steals, four runs scored and five RBI.
Oct 2, 2022

On the year, the rookie infielder is slashing .232/.292/.348 with 12 steals and 29 extra-base hits through 124 games.
Sep 29, 2022
Sitting out Thursday
Stott is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Cubs.
ANALYSIS
Stott went just 2-for-31 (.065) over his last nine games, so he will be held out for the first time since Sept. 7. Nick Maton will start at shortstop in Stott's place.
Sep 9, 2022

The 24-year-old rookie has been great all around in his last 16 games, recording a .931 OPS over 61 plate appearances.
Sep 7, 2022

Stott isn't starting Wednesday against the Marlins.
ANALYSIS

Aug 17, 2022
Sits after 0-for-6 performance
Stott is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Reds.
ANALYSIS
Stott will take a seat for the day game after he was one of the few Phillies hitters who failed to produce in Tuesday's 11-4 win, as he went 0-for-6 while batting out of the leadoff spot. Second baseman Jean Segura will fill the table-setting role Wednesday, while Edmundo Sosa fills in at shortstop for Stott.
Aug 16, 2022
Steals base in three-hit night
Stott went 3-for-5 with a stolen base in Monday's 4-3 win over the Reds.
ANALYSIS
Stott has now extended his hitting streak to eight games, and he's batting a blistering .455 with six runs, five RBI and two stolen bases over that stretch. He's been rewarded for his red-hot hitting with a promotion into the leadoff role, though his run atop the lineup could come to an end as soon as Kyle Schwarber (calf) is ready to go. Schwarber will remain out for Tuesday's game, however, so Stott will pick up another start at shortstop and as the Phillies' table setter.
Aug 9, 2022
Day off Tuesday
Stott is not in the starting lineup Tuesday versus the Marlins.
ANALYSIS
Stott will sit for the first time since July 29, going 9-for-32 with a double, a triple, six RBI, three runs scored and a stolen base over eight straight starts Edmundo Sosa will take over at shortstop and bat eighth against Miami.
Aug 4, 2022
Takes over as primary shortstop
Stott will start at shortstop and bat eighth in Thursday's game against the Nationals.
ANALYSIS
Stott picked up each of his past six starts at the keystone, but second base will be Jean Segura's (finger) domain moving forward after the 32-year-old was reinstated from the 60-day injured list Thursday. The rookie won't be out of the mix for an everyday role in the middle infield, however, as the Phillies released the struggling Didi Gregorius on Thursday to clear the way for Stott to play regularly at shortstop. The righty-hitting Edmundo Sosa could still poach the occasional start from the lefty-hitting Stott when the Phillies oppose southpaws, but Stott's playing-time outlook for the rest of the season generally looks promising.
Jul 29, 2022
Resting Friday
Stott isn't starting Friday against Pittsburgh.
ANALYSIS
Stott started the first seven games after the All-Star break and slashed .250/.357/.458 with a homer, two doubles, five RBI and four runs. Yairo Munoz is starting at the keystone and batting seventh.
Jul 26, 2022
Plates career-high five runs
Stott went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and a two-run double in Monday's 6-4 win over Atlanta.
ANALYSIS
The five RBI were a new career-high total for the rookie, who had previously driven in three runs on two other occasions this season. Stott's two-out homer in the bottom of the eighth inning allowed the Phillies to take their first lead of the night and eventually put an end to a three-game losing streak. Though Stott is still under the Mendoza Line for the season (.196 average), he's slashing a more palatable .234/.312/.426 since the beginning of June.
Jul 17, 2022
Out against lefty
Stott is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins, Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
The lefty-hitting Stott will retreat to the bench with southpaw Trevor Rogers taking the hill for Miami. Yairo Munoz will step in at the keystone as a replacement for Stott, who went 2-for-5 with a pair of doubles, an RBI and a run in Saturday's 10-0 victory.
Jul 6, 2022
Drops to ninth in order
Stott will start at second base and bat ninth in Wednesday's game against the Nationals.
ANALYSIS
Stott had started at shortstop the past three games and was moved into the No. 7 spot in the order for Tuesday's 11-0 win, but he'll shift over to the other middle-infield position and drop to No. 9 in the lineup with Didi Gregorius (knee) checking back in. The rookie hasn't provided an extra-base hit in any of his last nine starts, but he's gotten on base at an impressive .455 clip and has chipped in two stolen bases, six runs and three RBI during that stretch.
Jun 26, 2022
Records steal, scores twice
Stott went 1-for-3 with an RBI, a stolen base, two runs scored and a walk in Sunday's 8-5 win over the Padres.
ANALYSIS
Stott tied the game at 1-1 with an RBI single in the second inning. He stole second and scored on a Kyle Schwarber double. Stott hadn't gotten on base multiple times in a game since June 12, going 2-for-34 with a walk and seven strikeouts in his last 11 games before Sunday. The infielder is slashing .164/.223/.274 with four home runs, 20 RBI, 19 runs scored and two steals across 157 plate appearances. Given his poor hitting, Stott should be concerned about losing playing time to Yairo Munoz and Johan Camargo at second base, particularly against southpaws.
Jun 25, 2022
On bench Saturday
Stott isn't starting Saturday's game against the Padres, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Stott hit just .059 with a double, a run, an RBI, a walk and seven strikeouts over his last 11 games, and he'll take a seat for the second time in the last five matchups. Yairo Munoz is starting at the keystone and batting ninth.

Sitting Tuesday
Stott Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer against Texas.
ANALYSIS
Stott's playing time seems to have taken a slight hit since the Phillies called up Yairo Munoz last week. The team has faced four lefties since Munoz's arrival, including Tuesday's starting Martin Perez, and Stott has sat against three of them. Munoz will make another start at the keystone here.
Jun 16, 2022
Out of lineup versus lefty
Stott is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Nationals.
ANALYSIS
Stott appears to be locked in as the Phillies' primary second baseman, but the lefty-hitting rookie is still expected to sit regularly versus southpaws like Washington's Patrick Corbin. The righty-hitting Yairo Munoz will pick up the start at the keystone and should serve as a short-side platoon mate for Stott until Johan Camargo (knee) is back from the 10-day injured list.
Jun 14, 2022
Heads to bench
Stott will sit Tuesday against the Marlins.
ANALYSIS
Stott started the last 11 games, with four of those games coming against southpaws. Yairo Munoz was called up Tuesday and will start against lefty Trevor Rogers, though that isn't necessarily a sign that Stott will slip into a platoon role going forward.
Jun 12, 2022
Two-run homer in win
Stott went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Saturday's victory over Arizona.
ANALYSIS
Stott launched a two-run blast in the second inning that scored Matt Vierling, adding to the Phillies' early lead. The young shortstop struggled in April and May, but has been on fire in June with hits in six of nine games. Stott also has four home runs this month to go with a .333 June batting average.
Jun 9, 2022
Four hits including homer
Stott went 4-for-4 with a two-run home run, a double and three runs in Wednesday's 10-0 win over the Brewers.
ANALYSIS
Stott launched a two-run homer off Adrian Houser in the top of the third before later adding a double, two singles and scoring two more runs. The home run was his third of the season, all of which have come in the last five games. Since the beginning of June, Stott has gone 9-for-23 with three long balls, eight RBI, 10 runs and a stolen base over six contests. With Johan Camargo (knee) on the 10-day injured list, the shortstop will continue to have a shot to showcase his skills on a daily basis.
Jun 7, 2022
Regular role opens up
Stott will start at second base and bat eighth in Tuesday's game against the Brewers.
ANALYSIS
Coming off a big weekend series against the Angels in which he started in all three games of the sweep while going 3-for-11 with two home runs, two walks and six RBI, Stott might have already been in good shape to open the week in a starting role in the middle infield. However, Stott's path to regular duties at second base became clearer Tuesday, when the Phillies placed his main competition for starts, Johan Camargo (knee), on the 10-day injured list. Philadelphia called up Scott Kingery from Triple-A Lehigh Valley to offer additional depth in the infield, but expect Stott to get a long look in a full-time role while Camargo is out of the picture.
Jun 4, 2022
Pops first MLB homer
Stott went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run in Friday's 10-0 win over the Angels.
ANALYSIS
The rookie shortstop took Cole Silseth deep in the second inning, giving the Phillies an early 4-0 lead in the rout. In back-to-back games Stott has produced his first career homer and first career steal, but he's still only slashing .160/.209/.222 through his first 26 MLB games.
Jun 2, 2022
Swipes first bag
Stott went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a stolen base in Wednesday's 6-5 win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
The steal was his first in the majors, while the multi-hit performance was his first since May 13. Stott has a miserable .143/.195/.169 slash line through his first 25 games in the big leagues, but with Jean Segura (finger) potentially out for the next three months, the rookie will be in the mix for playing time at second base.
Jun 1, 2022
Added to Wednesday's lineup
Stott was added to the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Giants.
ANALYSIS
The 24-year-old has been out of the lineup in each of the last four games, but he'll be a late addition to Wednesday's lineup after Bryce Harper (forearm) was scratched. Stott is starting at shortstop and batting ninth.
May 29, 2022
Retreats to reserve role
Stott is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets.
ANALYSIS
The Phillies handed Stott three consecutive starts from Wednesday through Friday, but the rookie went 0-for-9 over those contest to squander any hope he had of wresting the shortstop job from Johan Camargo while Didi Gregorius (knee) is on the shelf. Now slashing a lowly .114/.173/.129 through his first 75 plate appearances in the majors, Stott finds himself on the bench for the second game in a row.
May 23, 2022
Back on bench
Stott is out of the lineup for Monday's game in Atlanta.
ANALYSIS
Stott made four starts during the Phillies' recent six-game homestand but didn't take advantage of the opportunity, going 1-for-9 in Philadelphia to bring his season-long slash line to .131/.185/.148. The rookie will stick around with the big club while Didi Gregorius (knee) is on the shelf, but Johan Camargo may still be ahead of Stott in the pecking order for playing time at shortstop.
May 17, 2022
Third start in four games
Stott will start at shortstop and bat eighth in Tuesday's game against the Padres.
ANALYSIS
Stott will be awarded his third start in four games, but he still looks like he may be stuck in a timeshare at shortstop with Johan Camargo until Didi Gregorius (knee) returns from the IL. The rookie recently turned in a career-best performance at the plate in Friday's 12-10 win over the Dodgers, going 2-for-3 with two walks, three RBI and two runs. In his first 13 big-league games, Stott hit .111 with two walks, four RBI and one run.
May 12, 2022
Not in Thursday's lineup
Stott isn't starting Thursday against the Dodgers.
ANALYSIS
Stott has gone 0-for-12 with a walk and six strikeouts over his last three games. He's started just once against a left-hander this season, and he'll get a breather for the second time in the last three games since southpaw Tyler Anderson is starting for the Dodgers on Thursday. Johan Camargo will start at shortstop and bat eighth.
May 7, 2022
Back in big leagues
Stott was recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Stott's strong spring earned him an Opening Day roster spot, but he struggled to a .133/.161/.167 line in 31 plate appearances and was demoted in late April. He's back again less than two weeks later with the Phillies needing another shortstop as Didi Gregorius (knee) hits the injured list. If part of Stott's struggles can be attributed to the fact the he was playing irregularly and bouncing around the infield, there's a case to be made that he'll look better this time around if he's given a temporary everyday role at his natural position of shortstop. Whether or not he'll actually have that role is unclear, however, as manager Joe Girardi may prefer veteran utility man Johan Camargo in that spot.
Apr 25, 2022
Optioned to Triple-A
Stott was optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Monday.
ANALYSIS
Stott earned an Opening Day roster spot following an impressive spring, but he failed to do enough to stick around. He hit .133/.161/.167 with a 32.3 percent strikeout rate in 31 trips to the plate and had fallen from favor to the point that he hadn't appeared in a game since last Tuesday. He'll get regular at-bats at the Triple-A level while awaiting his next chance in the majors, with Johan Camargo emerging as manager Joe Girardi's preferred utility infielder.
Apr 24, 2022
On bench for fifth straight
Stott remains out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Brewers, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Stott will stay on the bench for the fifth game in a row and appears to be clearly behind Alec Bohm for playing time at third base. Even with Didi Gregorius (hand) sidelined for the fourth straight game, Stott hasn't been able to crack the lineup at shortstop either, as Johan Camargo has served as Gregorius' primary replacement. If Gregorius avoids the injury list and rejoins the lineup at some point during the upcoming week, the Phillies could send Stott back to Triple-A Lehigh Valley to pick up some consistent at-bats.
Apr 17, 2022
Moves to bench
Stott is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Stott had started in each of the Phillies' previous five games, making four of those starts at second base while going 2-for-19 at the plate. Primary second baseman Jean Segura (hand) is back in action after a three-game absence, while shortstop Didi Gregorius and third baseman Johan Camargo form the left side of the Phillies' infield. Entering the season, Stott appeared to be battling Alec Bohm for the primary job at the hot corner, but both look to be behind Camargo in the pecking order at the moment.
Apr 11, 2022
On bench Monday
Stott will sit Monday against the Mets, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Stott and Alec Bohm have alternated starts at the hot corner through four games. Stott's previous day off came against lefty Cole Irvin, but he'll sit here against righty Taijuan Walker, suggesting the situation isn't necessarily a true platoon. It may take a few more games to get a full sense of how often the rookie will be in the lineup this season.
Apr 9, 2022
Gets breather Saturday
Stott isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Athletics, Jim Salisbury of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
ANALYSIS
Stott went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI in his major-league debut Friday, but he'll take a seat a day later. Alec Bohm will start at the hot corner and bat eighth.
Apr 8, 2022
Two hits in debut
Stott went 2-for-4 with a double and a RBI in a 9-5 win Friday over Oakland.
ANALYSIS
Stott batted eighth and played third base in his Major League debut. The heralded prospect singled and scored in the sixth and added a RBI double in the eighth. After a monster spring, hitting .419/.514/.581, Stott was given the Opening Day start over Alec Bohm. The 24-year-old is capable of playing both middle infield positions and likely will find a way into the lineup, albeit at the bottom of the order.
Apr 7, 2022
Contract officially selected
Stott's contract was selected by the Phillies on Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Stott impressed in the minors last year, and he won a spot on the Opening Day roster by slashing .406/.513/.563 with a home run, two doubles, six runs and three RBI across 14 Grapefruit League appearances this spring. The 24-year-old has defensive versatility that will allow him to see time at third base, second base and shortstop early in the 2022 campaign.
Apr 5, 2022
Wins roster spot
Stott will break camp on the big-league roster, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Stott was competing for time at shortstop this spring but also emerged as a potential option at third base. After posting a 1.261 OPS with more walks than strikeouts in Grapefruit League action, the Phillies seemingly had no choice but to call him up. His expected role isn't totally clear, as third baseman Alec Bohm has also made the team, leaving the Phillies with seemingly one too many infielders. He and Bohm could potentially platoon at third, with the left-handed Stott seeing the majority of the starts in that setup, though he could also start in either middle infield spot to give veterans Didi Gregorius and Jean Segura the occasional day off.
Apr 5, 2022
Tough out this spring
Stott owns a ridiculous .480/.581/.680 line with a homer, two doubles and a 6:4 BB:K this spring.
ANALYSIS
He's been in competition for the starting shortstop role with Didi Gregorius, and while the veteran has had a credible spring himself, Stott's numbers are jumping off the page. While nothing official has come out yet, all signs point to Stott making the team. This comes after a big-time 2021 in which Stott rocketed from High-A to Triple-A and posted a composite .299/.390/.486 line across 112 games. If there's a note of caution here for fantasy managers, it's that Stott doesn't have big-time power or speed, so his value will largely hinge on his ability to deliver batting average, RBI and runs.
Mar 27, 2022
Getting reps at third
Stott is starting at third base and hitting eighth in Sunday's Grapefruit League game against the Blue Jays.
ANALYSIS
Stott has been in competition with Didi Gregorius for the starting shortstop role in camp. However, he'll now get a look at the hot corner, where Alec Bohm is currently penciled into the starting lineup. Stott has appeared in only seven games at third base during his pro career, so this could just be an exercise to get him more reps at the position in case of an injury. Though he's in camp as a non-roster invitee, Stott has reached base in seven of his 13 plate appearances this spring.
Mar 13, 2022
In competition for starting job
Manager Joe Girardi said Sunday that Stott will compete with Didi Gregorius for the starting job at shortstop during spring training, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Stott isn't on the 40-man roster but receive an invite to big-league camp, and he'll apparently have a chance to secure a starting job outright. Gregorius is under contract for $14.5 million and should be the favorite to start, but the veteran is coming off a poor season in 2021. The Phillies seem likely to bring up Stott for his major-league debut later in the season, though there's a small chance he unseats Gregorius and opens 2022 as the starter.
Mar 12, 2022
Joins major-league camp
Stott was invited to the Phillies' big-league camp Saturday, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
Stott looks like the shortstop of the future in Philadelphia, as he's coming off a year in which he hit .299/.390/.486 across the three highest levels of the minors before posting a .318/.445/.489 line in the Arizona Fall League. He may not get full consideration to break camp with the team, which could use the fact that he's only played 10 Triple-A games to justify keeping him in the minors long enough to delay his free agency by a year, but he's likely to spend a substantial portion of the season in the majors. He may not be as exciting of a fantasy option as you'd expect given his prospect pedigree, however, as his appeal is based more on the fact that he's roughly average at all facets of his game rather than any one standout tool.
Nov 13, 2021
Impressing in fall ball
Stott has hit .320/.450/.493 with 20 walks against just 12 strikeouts through 21 games in the Arizona Fall League.
ANALYSIS
Stott is an interesting but fringy prospect, as he might not have quite a good enough glove to stick at shortstop and may not have quite a good enough bat to profile as an everyday player elsewhere. There's a chance he's good enough on both sides of the ball, however, giving the Phillies a capable everyday shortstop for years to come. His fall numbers cap a strong season for the 24-year-old, who hit .299/.390/.486 with 16 homers and 10 steals across the three highest levels of the minors. Just 10 of those games came at Triple-A, so he may be a long shot to crack the Opening Day roster, but if the Phillies don't acquire anyone better than Didi Gregorius at shortstop this winter it could be a sign that they expect Stott to take over sooner rather than later.
Sep 22, 2021
Goes to Triple-A for stretch run
The Phillies promoted Stott from Double-A Reading to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Stott will join the Triple-A affiliate for the final week of the regular season along with two of the Phillies' other more highly regarded prospects in catcher Logan O'Toole and right-handed pitcher Francisco Morales. Over 351 plate appearances at Double-A this season, the 23-year-old shortstop slashed .301/.368/.481 with 10 home runs and six stolen bases.
Jun 1, 2021
Promoted to Double-A
Stott has been promoted to Double-A Reading, Tom Housenick of The Morning Call reports.
ANALYSIS
Scott got off to a strong start this season with High-A Jersey Shore, slashing .288/.453/.548 with five homers and 10 RBI across 95 plate appearances. His solid play has earned him a promotion to Double-A Reading, where he will debut Tuesday.
Feb 16, 2021
Joining team for mini-camp
Stott will join the Phillies at spring training as part of the team's minor-league mini-camp.
ANALYSIS
Stott won't technically be part of big-league camp but will get to be around the major-league team for a few weeks. He's still a year or two away from joining the team on a permanent basis, however, as he's played just 48 professional games, none of which have come in full-season ball.
