Carroll jammed his left knee into an outfield wall in Colorado on April 29, and the Diamondbacks have eased him back at a measured pace. He served as a DH upon his return to the lineup and was not used on consecutive days initially. This week, Carroll played three consecutive days as an outfielder before Thursday's rest day. He remains an instrumental part of the offense and is 5-for-22 (.227) with a double, a home run, two RBI, three walks and four runs scored since the injury.

Carroll won't necessarily be deployed exclusively as a strong-side platoon player moving forward, as he made his MLB debut Monday against Phillies southpaw Ranger Suarez.

Carroll went 2-for-5 with a double, three RBI and two runs scored in Tuesday's 12-3 win over the Phillies.

It only took Carroll two games to earn a multi-hit effort. The top prospect has gone 3-for-10 with five RBI, two doubles and four runs scored through those two contests since earning his first big-league promotion. He's already showing enough with the bat to command a starting role, though he'll have to stay sharp to fend off the hot-hitting Jake McCarthy for playing time in left field.

Carroll grounded out in his first big-league at-bat, but he reached on an error in his next plate appearance and doubled home two runs in his third. This certainly qualifies as a successful debut for the organization's top prospect after he slashed .307/.425/.610 with 24 homers and 31 stolen bases in the minors this season. Carroll should see ample opportunity down the stretch for an Arizona team that is essentially out of the playoff picture.

Carroll will start in right field and hit eighth in Monday's game against the Phillies.

Carroll was called up by the Diamondbacks on Monday afternoon, and he will jump right into the lineup and make his debut the same night. While Carroll will hit lower in the order to start, his .426 career OBP and his standing as perhaps the top prospect in all of baseball suggest he will not stay there for long.

Carroll's contract was selected from Triple-A Reno on Monday.

Carroll is one of the top prospects in baseball and will be available to make his big-league debut Monday against the Phillies. The 22-year-old consistently impressed in the minors after being drafted out of high school in 2019, and he slashed .287/.408/.535 with seven homers, 25 runs, 22 RBI and 11 steals over 33 games at Reno after being promoted in mid-July, and he should see regular playing time in Arizona's outfield over the final month of the 2022 season.

Carroll has been on a tear in the minors this year, slashing .303/.422/.604 with 23 homers, 87 runs, 61 RBI and 31 stolen bases over 91 games between the Double-A and Triple-A clubs. The 22-year-old rose quickly through the Diamondbacks' farm system after being drafted out of high school in 2019, and he should have plenty of chances to carve out playing time -- and provide fantasy value -- over the final month of the regular season.

Arizona general manager Mike Hazen said Thursday that Carroll will make his major-league debut before the end of the season, Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic reports.

Carroll looks ready as evidenced by his .316/.430/.590 slash line in parts of three seasons, including a 1.047 OPS between Double-A and Triple-A this season. The general manager stressed he wants Carroll to stay in the majors once he arrives while noting his amount of practical experience is relatively low. "I would be hard pressed to go back and find a player who has probably climbed through the system as a high school kid in 130 games (and be) on the precipice of the big leagues," Hazen said. Carroll has just 625 plate appearances in the minors since being drafted out of high school.

Carroll went 2-for-4 with an inside-the-park home run for Triple-A Reno on Thursday.

the home run was Carroll's third in 10 games since being promoted to Reno. He hasn't slowed down at all since his promotion from Double-A Amarillo, batting .278 (10-for-36) with six extra-base hits, eight RBI, 13 runs, five stolen bases and 11 walks. Arizona's starting outfield in 2023 is shaping up to be a trio of young prospects, featuring Carroll, Alek Thomas and Daulton Varsho.

Carroll (illness) was promoted to Triple-A Reno on Saturday.

Carroll appeared in a pair of rehab games on his way back from the COVID-19 injured list, but he'll head to Reno rather than Double-A Amarillo now that he's ready to go. The 21-year-old center fielder is one of the top prospects in baseball and has performed like one so far this season, hitting .313/.430/.643 in 58 Double-A games while adding 16 homers and 20 steals. Judging by talent alone, it's not hard to make the case that Carroll already deserves a spot on the Diamondbacks' major-league roster, but the team is nowhere near the playoff hunt and may wait to start his clock until next season.

Carroll, who is currently on the Double-A Amarillo's COVID-19 related injury list and hasn't played since June 24, is hitting .313/.430/.643 with 16 home runs and 20 steals over 58 games for the SodPoodles. The outfielder has also been selected to participate in the 2022 All-Star Futures Game. A potential five-tool player, Carroll has blossomed in his first full season in the minors, although he's exhibited dramatic home/road splits in the Texas League. The 21-year-old has a 1.248 OPS (.769 slugging) at home and an .887 OPS (.509 slugging) on the road.

Carroll was placed on Double-A Amarillo's COVID-19 related injured list Tuesday, Jose M. Romero of the Arizona Republic reports.

News about Carroll's placement on the IL came to light Wednesday but details were sketchy. The outfielder had been away from the team to undergo dental work but wound up testing positive, which delayed the procedure, according to Arizona farm director Jesse Barfield. It's uncertain when Carroll can return or the exact nature of the dental procedure which could extend recovery time.

Carroll, who is on the 7-day injured list at Double-A Amarillo with an undisclosed injury, won't skip over Triple-A on his way to the majors, according to assistant general manager Amiel Sawdaye, Alex Weiner of Arizona Sports 98.7 FM reports.

There is no public news for why Carroll is on the injured list, but this interview seems to rule out the possibility that Carroll could pull a Michael Harris and bypass Triple-A on his way to the majors. He is hitting .313/.430/.643 with 16 home runs and 20 steals in 58 games at Double-A.

Carroll hasn't slowed down since beginning the season with a seven-game hit streak. On Thursday, his fourth-inning RBI single extended a hitting streak to seven games and an on-base streak to 21. Two innings later, a three-run homer stretched a mutli-hit streak to three contests. The highly regarded outfield prospect is slashing .331/.459/.717 over 159 plate appearances during in his introductory season at the Double-A level.

Carroll is sporting a 1.126 OPS with four home runs, nine RBI, five steals and 11 walks for Double-A Amarillo.

Carroll is one of two Arizona prospects -- Jordan Lawler the other -- that are coming off significant shoulder injuries. It hasn't taken the 21-year-old long to return to form, as the lefty-swinging outfielder has hit safely in 11 of 15 games. While Amarillo is known as a hitter-friendly environment, Carroll's OPS is nearly 300 points higher than the team's. Given that he lost a year to the pandemic and nearly a full year to injury, the 2019 first-round draft pick's performance is impressive and raises the question of how long will it take for a promotion.

He only played seven games at High-A last year before suffering a season-ending right shoulder injury, but Carroll looked so good this spring that he's going straight to Double-A to open the year. Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reported last week that Carroll is already big-league ready, according to one AL scout, but there's no reason to expect the Diamondbacks to rush him to the majors this year. He could enter next year as the game's top prospect and on the big-league roster.

Carroll made changes to his swing mechanics after injuring his right shoulder during an at-bat last May, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.

Carroll sustained a posterior capsular avulsion and a labrum tear in his right (non-throwing) shoulder while hitting a home run last May and did not play for the rest of the season. The injury happened on the follow-through of his swing, which at the time featured the release of his left hand. He worked during the offseason to switch from a one-handed to two-handed follow-through. "I love it," Carroll said. "I think it forces my direction to be better. And so even if I do go back to a one-handed swing, I think I'll be better for it. But I'm just noticing, you know, I think maybe even [being] a little bit more balanced in the swing, as well." It's a change similar to the one Fernando Tatis Jr. made last year after experiencing issues with his left shoulder during the follow-through of one his swings.
