Makes roster for NLDS
Hernandez (forearm) will be part of Atlanta's roster for the NLDS against the Phillies, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hernandez allowed three earned runs over just 3.2 major-league innings during the regular season and finished out the year on the 60-day injured list due to right forearm inflammation. Bowman notes, however, that the 27-year-old reliever "made a great impression" during Atlanta's pair of intrasquad games this week at Truist Park to secure a bullpen spot for the best-of-five National League Division Series versus Philadelphia. Michael Tonkin also made the cut. Jesse Chavez and Kyle Wright did not.

Beginning rehab assignment
Hernandez (forearm) is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment Tuesday with Triple-A Gwinnett.
ANALYSIS
Hernandez is currently on the 60-day injured list with right forearm inflammation and isn't eligible to be activated until the final weekend of the 2023 regular season. He had allowed three earned runs through 3.2 innings of relief with Atlanta prior to the IL stint and could simply finish out the year in the minors.

Transferred to 60-day IL
Hernandez (forearm) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Monday.
ANALYSIS
Hernandez apparently has not made much progress since landing on the 15-day injured list in early August, and Atlanta moved him to the longer of the two injured lists to open up a spot on the 40-man roster for the returning Kyle Wright.

Shelved with forearm inflammation
Atlanta placed Hernandez on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with right forearm inflammation.
ANALYSIS
Hernandez's move to the IL clears a spot on the 26-man active roster for left-hander Brad Hand, whom Atlanta acquired from Colorado on Tuesday. After receiving his first call-up to the big leagues July 23, Hernandez gave up three earned runs on six hits and three walks while striking out six over 3.2 innings across his four relief appearances for Atlanta before hitting the shelf.

Nabs win in big-league debut
Hernandez (1-0) picked up the win during Sunday's victory over the Brewers, allowing one hit and striking out three in a scoreless inning of relief.
ANALYSIS
Making his big-league debut in the seventh inning, Hernandez flashed overpowering stuff with a fastball that topped out at 97.3 mph and a nasty slider that he used to carve up the bottom of Milwaukee's batting order. The right-hander hadn't allowed a run since May 3 for Triple-A Gwinnett prior to his promotion, posting a 29:5 K:BB in 17.2 innings during that shutout streak, and while he's no threat to take the closer job away from Raisel Iglesias, Hernandez could quickly work his way into a high-leverage role for Atlanta.
