Officially starting Game 2
Peralta will start Game 2 of the Brewers' NL Wild Card Series matchup against the Diamondbacks on Wednesday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
With Brandon Woodruff nursing a shoulder injury and out indefinitely, Peralta will be bumped up to start Wednesday. Resting on final turn
Peralta will not pitch this weekend against the Cubs, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Peralta appeared lined up for Saturday's game versus Chicago, but the NL Central-champion Brewers will instead give him extended rest leading into the playoffs. The 27-year-old right-hander finishes with a 3.86 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 210:54 K:BB in 165.2 regular-season innings.

Mashed in loss
Peralta (12-10) took the loss Sunday, allowing four runs on nine hits and no walks over three innings against Miami. He struck out four.
ANALYSIS
The Marlins peppered Peralta for nine hits, equaling his season-high last given up April 15 against San Diego. The results Sunday were highly unusual as the Brewers starting pitcher had produced a 2.42 ERA, 0.79 WHIP and 99:16 K:BB over 70.2 innings in the second half before this outing. Perhaps the Marlins were able to take advantage of Peralta's average fastball velocity sitting at 93.5-mph, down a tick from its normal 94.5-mph. He looks to bounce back in his final start of the season, currently scheduled to be at home against the Cubs.

Sharp in losing effort
Peralta (12-9) took the loss Monday, allowing one run on four hits over six innings against the Cardinals. He struck out six.
ANALYSIS
Peralta's now allowed just one run in three of his last four starts while working to a 1.89 ERA in his last eight outings (47.2 innings). However, Willson Contreras' solo home run proved enough to stick Peralta with the loss Monday in a 1-0 defeat. Overall, the 27-year-old right-hander sports a 3.71 ERA with a 1.08 WHIP and 206:54 K:BB across 29 starts (162.2 innings) this season. Peralta's currently lined up for a road matchup with the Marlins this weekend in his next outing.

Dazzles in 12th win
Peralta (12-8) earned the win Tuesday, allowing one run on two hits over 6.1 innings against the Marlins. He struck out nine.
ANALYSIS
For the fourth time in his last five starts, Peralta fanned at least nine batters, giving him the sixth most K's in baseball with 200. He's been especially dominant across his last nine starts (53.2 innings), boasting a 6-0 record to go along with a 2.01 ERA and an 82:11 K:BB. The 27-year-old is tentatively scheduled to make his next start in St. Louis against the Cardinals early next week.

Allows three runs in no-decision
Peralta did not factor into the decision Wednesday, allowing three runs on four hits and one walk over 5.1 innings against the Pirates. He struck out four.
ANALYSIS
After surrendering a solo homer to Ke'Bryan Hayes in the first inning, Peralta held the Pirates scoreless over the next four frames. However, the right-hander would go on to be charged with another two runs in the sixth before being relieved by Trevor Megill. Peralta recorded just four strikeouts in the contest, the fewest he's posted in a start since June 1 and he's now allowed a home run in three consecutive outings. Through two September starts he holds a 3.18 ERA to go along with a 14:1 K:BB.
Sep 1, 2023
Dominant versus Phillies
Peralta pitched six innings, surrendering one run on two hits while striking out 10 batters in Friday's 7-5 win over the Phillies. He did not factor into the decision.
ANALYSIS
Outside of a leadoff homer by Kyle Schwarber in the top of the first inning, Peralta was flawless Friday. The right-hander recorded at least 10 punchouts for the fourth time over his last seven outings, posting a 1.71 ERA with 69 strikeouts over 42 innings in those starts. Peralta's season-long numbers now sit at a 3.85 ERA and 1.14 WHIP with 187 punchouts over 145 frames in 26 outings.
Aug 27, 2023
Continues strong stretch
Peralta (11-8) earned the win over San Diego on Saturday, allowing two runs on two hits and three walks while striking out nine batters over 5.1 innings.
ANALYSIS
Peralta had to work for it -- he needed 94 pitches to get through 5.1 frames -- but the right-hander extended his win streak to five outings. He had his strikeout stuff working again in the victory, racking up 17 swings-and-misses and nine punchouts. Peralta has been dominant over his past six starts, posting a 59:10 K:BB over 36 innings along with a 1.75 ERA and 0.86 WHIP. He's been vaulting up the strikeout leaderboard and now ranks eighth in the majors with 177 punchouts on the campaign.
Aug 20, 2023
Earns fourth straight win
Peralta (10-8) earned the win Saturday, allowing one run on four hits and two walks over 5.2 innings against the Rangers. He struck out 11.
ANALYSIS
Peralta was mostly dominant Saturday, striking out four of the first six batters he faced before surrendering two hits and two walks in the third, which would lead to one run coming home for Texas. He allowed just two singles from that point on while racking up double-digit strikeouts for the third time in his last five starts. The right-hander has won each of his last four starts and now owns a 1.82 ERA in August to go along with a 37:7 K:BB.
Aug 14, 2023
Continues run of dominance
Peralta (9-8) threw six shutout innings against the White Sox on Sunday to earn the win. He allowed four hits while walking three batters and striking out six.
ANALYSIS
Peralta is on a torrid four-game stretch at the moment. Since July 26, he is 3-0 with a 1.44 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 39:5 K:BB in 25 innings while throwing four quality starts. He also has recorded 64 whiffs over that span which is the most in all of baseball. When Peralta is at his best, he can be downright elite and has the potential to be a league winner down the stretch, but he'll have his work cut out for him when he faces the Rangers on the road his next time out.
Aug 7, 2023
Cruises to win
Peralta (8-8) allowed a run on one hit while striking out 13 without walking a batter over seven innings to earn the win Monday over the Rockies.
ANALYSIS
Peralta had an excellent the start, with the lone blemish being Ezequiel Tovar's solo home run in the first inning. This was the second time in Peralta's last three starts that he dialed up 13 strikeouts, and four of his last five outings have been quality starts. He's now at a 4.28 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 151:45 K:BB through 122 innings over 22 starts this season. The right-hander is projected to face the White Sox on the road over the weekend.
Aug 1, 2023
Picks up seventh win
Peralta (7-8) earned the win Tuesday at Washington after he allowed three runs on six hits and two walks across six innings. He struck out seven.
ANALYSIS
The right-hander was mostly able to keep the Nationals in check, though they struck for three runs on three hits and two walks during the second inning. There was also an out at the plate in the third to preserve the quality start, which is Peralta's third in four outings since the All-Star break. The 27-year-old has a 3.52 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 31:7 K:BB across 23 innings during that stretch after he finished the first half with a 4.70 ERA in 17 starts.
Jul 26, 2023
Punches out 13
Peralta did not factor into the decision Wednesday, allowing four hits over six scoreless innings against the Reds. He struck out 13.
ANALYSIS
Peralta was dominant against the Reds, matching a career high with 13 strikeouts, but was ultimately stuck with a no-decision as the Brewers were held off the scoreboard until the seventh inning. Still, it's certainly an encouraging performance from Peralta after he allowed six runs in his last start against Atlanta. The 27-year-old right-hander lowered his ERA to 4.46 with a 1.25 WHIP and 131:43 K:BB across 20 starts (109 innings) this season. Peralta will look to build on Wednesday's outing in his next start, currently lined up for next week in Washington.
Jul 21, 2023
Tagged with six runs
Peralta (6-8) allowed six runs on six hits and three walks over five innings Friday, striking out five and taking a loss against Atlanta.
ANALYSIS
Peralta stumbled against Atlanta's strong lineup and was taken deep twice, accounting for four of the six runs. He had given up three or fewer runs in five straight outings prior to Friday's ugly outing. His ERA spiked to 4.72 with a 118:43 K:BB through 19 starts. Peralta's next appearance is projected to be at home against the Reds next week.
Jul 15, 2023
Blanks Cincinnati
Peralta (6-7) earned the win Saturday, allowing one hit and two walks over six scoreless innings against the Reds. He struck out six.
ANALYSIS
Peralta fired off six scoreless innings Saturday, marking his first shutout since April 3, and set a season low in hits allowed. Though the 27-year-old has struggled this season compared to years past (4.41 ERA in 2023), Peralta has maintained his strikeout arsenal, owning a 10.38 K/9 through 98 innings (18 appearances). Peralta will look to continue his post-All-Star break success in his next start, which is tentatively scheduled to come against Atlanta at American Family Field next week.
Jul 7, 2023
Racks up 10 strikeouts
Peralta did not factor into the decision Thursday, allowing three runs on four hits and three walks over 5.1 innings in a 6-5 victory over the Cubs. He struck out 10.
ANALYSIS
Peralta allowed the leadoff man to reach base in three of his 5.1 innings of work and the Cubs made him pay to the tune of three runs, with the latter two coming off a Cody Bellinger home run in the sixth. Still, the right-hander was able to limit the damage on the afternoon thanks to his 10 strikeouts, which matched his season high. Peralta has now allowed at least three runs in three straight starts and in eight of his last 10. He's also walked at least three batters in three of his last four appearances.
Jul 1, 2023
Fans eight in no-decision
Peralta didn't factor into the decision in Friday's 8-7 loss to the Pirates, giving up three runs on three hits and two walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out eight.
ANALYSIS
It was a strong performance from the right-hander, who generated 31 called or swinging strikes among his 108 pitches, and he exited the game in line for his sixth win of the season before the Brewers bullpen made a mess. Peralta continues to be a consistent source of strikeouts, but not much else -- through six starts and 32.1 innings in June he posted a 4.73 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 39:12 K:BB while going 0-3. He'll take the mound one more time before the All-Star break, an outing likely to come at home next week against the Cubs.
Jun 25, 2023
Takes another loss
Peralta (5-7) took the loss Saturday, allowing three runs on four hits and three walks over five innings against the Guardians. He struck out five.
ANALYSIS
Peralta picked up his seventh loss of the campaign, marking six starts since recording his last victory. Though he owns the seventh-most losses in MLB, Peralta has given up more than four earned runs in just two of his 16 starts thus far. After 81.1 innings, Peralta holds a 4.65 ERA and 1.33 WHIP to go along with a 1.5 HR/9 and a 2.7 K/BB. He'll have a solid chance to pick up a win in his next start, which is expected to come against a Mets team that has lost 14 of its' last 19 contests.
Jun 19, 2023
Strikes out nine in no-decision
Peralta did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing two runs on two hits and three walks over six innings in a 5-2 victory over Pittsburgh. He struck out nine.
ANALYSIS
Peralta recorded at least nine strikeouts for just the third time this season and notched his eighth quality start of the year. Despite the strong outing Sunday, the right-hander continues to struggle with the long ball, allowing at least one home run in seven straight appearances (10 total). During that stretch, Peralta holds a 6.06 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 4.0 BB/9, but he's still been striking batter out at high rate, totaling 38 strikeouts over his last 35.2 innings (9.6 K/9). Peralta remains a steady part of Milwaukee's rotation, and his next start is lined up for a road matchup against the Mets.
Jun 12, 2023
Gives up pair of homers
Peralta (5-6) took the loss Sunday, allowing four runs on three hits and two walks over five innings against Oakland. He struck out five.
ANALYSIS
All of the damage against Peralta came in the fourth, giving up back-to-back homers to Seth Brown and Brent Rooker as part of a four-run, three-hit inning. Outside of the fourth frame, Peralta retired 12 of the 13 batters he faced. Peralta has struggled in his last six starts, tallying four losses with a 6.67 ERA to go along with a 2.7 HR/9 and an 8.8 K/9.
Jun 7, 2023
Nine strikeouts in no-decision
Peralta allowed two runs on six hits and no walks while striking out nine over five innings of work Tuesday against the Orioles. He did not factor into the decision.
ANALYSIS
The only damage done against Peralta was a second inning two-run homer by Aaron Hicks. Overall, he had one of his better performances in a while. He generated 20 whiffs, and his nine strikeouts were his highest total since he had 10 on May 2. He also did not give out any free passes for just the second time this year. Peralta has given up a home run in five straight starts and has surrendered 11 total on the season, which is something that has not been an issue for him over the duration of his career. The 27-year-old now owns a 4.55 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 70:25 K:BB across 65.1 innings and lines up to face Oakland over the weekend.
Jun 1, 2023
Struggles early in quality start
Peralta (5-5) took the loss Thursday in Toronto after he gave up three runs on six hits with three strikeouts and two walks over six innings.
ANALYSIS
Peralta surrendered a solo shot and a two-run homer during the opening frame, which was enough to pin him with the loss since the Brewers offense managed just a single run. The 26-year-old held the Blue Jays scoreless from there, but it's the second straight start he's allowed multiple long balls. He's also failed to record more than five strikeouts in any of his past five outings. Peralta has yet to find much consistency this year with a 4.62 ERA and 61:25 K:BB through 60.1 innings.
May 27, 2023
Early exit in rout
Peralta (5-4) took the loss Friday as the Brewers fell 15-1 to the Giants, coughing up 10 runs (but only four earned) on eight hits and a walk over 2.1 innings. He struck out four.
ANALYSIS
The entire Milwaukee club lost focus early in the game after Willy Adames was struck in the head by a foul ball while in the dugout and was taken to the hospital, and Peralta's own error helped contribute to the six unearned runs on his line. The 26-year-old had four quality starts in his five prior outings, so given the circumstances he can get a mulligan on this performance. Peralta will take a 4.80 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 58:23 K:BB through 54.1 innings into his next start, likely to come on the road next week in Toronto.
May 21, 2023
Snares fifth victory
Peralta (5-3) earned the win Sunday, allowing three runs on five hits and three walks over six innings against Tampa Bay. He struck out four.
ANALYSIS
Peralta did a fantastic job slowing down one of MLB's top offenses, giving up all three of his earned runs on one swing of the bat with Josh Lowe swatting a three-run home run to plate Randy Arozarena and Harold Ramirez in the fourth inning. After opening up the season with seven or more strikeouts in four of his first six starts, Peralta has struggled to replicate his swing-and-miss numbers over his last three appearances, striking out five or fewer in each start. After tough matchups against the Rockies at Coors Field, the Dodgers and the Cardinals prior to playing the Rays on Sunday, Peralta and his fantasy managers should expect a more productive outing in his next projected start, which will likely come against the Giants.
May 16, 2023
Stumbles to third loss
Peralta (4-3) took the loss against St. Louis on Monday, allowing six runs on six hits and five walks while striking out four batters over 5.1 innings.
ANALYSIS
Peralta fell behind early, surrendering a three-run homer to Nolan Arenado in the first inning. He rebounded to allow just one more run over his following four frames, but his outing ended after putting on two of the first three batters in the sixth, with both runners eventually coming around to score. Peralta had been pitching well coming into the contest, notching three straight quality starts during which he allowed just five runs while posting a 23:5 K:BB over 18 innings. He'll look to get back on track in his next start, which is tentatively slated to be a tough road matchup against Tampa Bay this weekend.
May 9, 2023
Yields one run in victory
Peralta (4-2) allowed one run on three hits and two walks over six innings against the Dodgers on Monday. He struck out five and earned a win.
ANALYSIS
Peralta cruised through five scoreless innings with little issue before a Max Muncy groundout finally put the Dodgers on the board in the sixth. Over his last three starts, Peralta has given up five runs over 18 innings (2.50 ERA) while recording a 23:5 K:BB. He's allowed two or fewer runs in five of his first seven starts, resulting in a 3.32 ERA. Peralta is projected to take the mound in St. Louis next week.
May 3, 2023
Racks up strikeouts
Peralta did not factor into the decision Tuesday, allowing two runs on seven hits and three walks over six innings in a 3-2 loss against Colorado. He struck out 10.
ANALYSIS
Peralta diced up the Rockies and set down a season-high 10 batters on strikes. He worked through some traffic, as he stranded six runners. The righty is delivering another solid season for the Brewers with a 3.63 ERA and 41 strikeouts in 34.2 innings. His WHIP is at 1.27, which would be his highest mark since the 2019 season.
Apr 26, 2023
Strikes out eight in third win
Peralta (3-2) earned the win Wednesday, allowing two unearned runs on four hits and zero walks over six innings in a 6-2 win over the Tigers. He struck out eight.
ANALYSIS
The only blemishes on Peralta's ledger came in the fourth. Nick Maton led off the inning by reaching on an error by Brian Anderson, and after the right-hander retired back-to-back hitters, Akil Baddoo and Jake Rogers posted two-out, run-scoring hits. However, both runs were unearned due to the leadoff error, and Peralta cruised through two more innings, lowering his ERA from 3.97 to 3.14. His eight strikeouts and zero walks were both season-best marks, and he currently sports a 31:9 K:BB over 28.2 innings. Wednesday's outing was certainly a bounce-back performance for Peralta, who had given up nine runs over his previous two starts, and he'll look to maintain the momentum during his next outing, which is tentatively scheduled for Milwaukee's upcoming three-game set in Colorado.
Apr 22, 2023
Tagged for loss
Peralta (2-2) took the loss Friday, allowing four runs on five hits and two walks over 5.2 innings against Boston. He struck out four.
ANALYSIS
Peralta nearly delivered a quality start as he recorded the first two outs of the sixth inning before walking consecutive batters. Peralta was lifted, and Hoby Milner allowed both inherited runners to score, ruining Peralta's chance at a win. The 26-year-old only allowed one earned run over his first 12 innings of the season. But his last two starts have seen nine earned runs come across in 10.2 innings. Peralta is lined up to face the Tigers in his next outing.
Apr 15, 2023
Ineffective in loss to Padres
Peralta (2-1) took the loss Saturday while allowing five runs on nine hits and one walk over five innings in a 10-3 loss against the Padres. He struck out five.
ANALYSIS
Peralta was staked a 2-0 lead in the first inning, but he almost immediately blow that cushion by giving up a pair himself and another run in the second. He was able to get through the next pair of innings unscathed but a two-run homer by Jake Cronenworth gave the Padres the 5-3 lead and Peralta his first loss of the season. The 26-year-old was oustanding over his first two starts of the season while allowing just a single run over 12 innings, but he didn't have his best stuff against a tough San Diego lineup. He'll take a 3.18 ERA into a start that's lined up for the weekend against the Red Sox.
Apr 9, 2023
Picks up second win
Peralta (2-0) earned the win during Sunday's 6-1 victory over the Cardinals, allowing one run on four hits and three walks over six innings. He struck out seven.
ANALYSIS
Peralta tossed three shutout frames before allowing an RBI single to Jordan Walker in the fourth, but he got out of the frame by retiring back-to-back batters. The right-hander's line Sunday was nearly identical to his first start, and he now has 14 strikeouts through 12 innings. Peralta is tentatively scheduled to pitch next against the Padres.
Apr 3, 2023
Six shutout frames
Peralta (1-0) earned the win Monday, allowing no runs on two hits and three walks over six innings against the Mets. He struck out seven.
ANALYSIS
Peralta was given plenty of run support in his first outing of the year, but he didn't need it. The 26-year-old right-hander threw 51-of-85 pitches for strikes, and while he did battle some control issues, he was able to work around them while picking up the win in his first outing of 2023. Peralta will try and match this success in his next scheduled start Sunday when he squares off against the Cardinals.
Mar 28, 2023
Fires 4.2 scoreless frames
Peralta tossed 4.2 scoreless innings in Tuesday's exhibition season finale. He allowed four hits and posted a 5:1 K:BB.
ANALYSIS
Peralta was locked in during the spring, posting a 3.21 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 17:3 K:BB in 14.0 innings over four starts. He is lined up to start the Brewers' home opener, which will come Apr. 3 against the Mets.
Feb 9, 2023
No injury concerns for spring
Peralta has "no injury concerns" leading into camp, a Brewers source told Adam McCalvy of MLB.com.
ANALYSIS
McCalvy grabbed this quote in relation to Peralta's absence from the Team Dominican Republic roster for the upcoming World Baseball Classic. The 26-year-old will instead spend the entire spring with the Brewers as he aims to bounce back in 2023. Peralta was limited to 78 innings last season because of lat and shoulder issues.
Oct 2, 2022
Four scoreless innings Sunday
Peralta struck out four and allowed two hits in four shutout innings in a 4-3 extra-innings loss Sunday against Miami. He did not factor into the decision.
ANALYSIS
Peralta was excellent in his third appearance since returning from a shoulder injury Sept. 25. He faced just one batter over the minimum and did not allow any baserunner to reach scoring position. The 26-year-old has been building his endurance after the injury and Sunday's four innings was his longest outing since tossing five frames Aug. 31. The Brewers are battling for the final Wild Card spot in the National League and, should they make it, Peralta could be their Game 1 starter as Brandon Woodruff and Corbin Burnes are likely to pitch over the final three games of the regular season.
Oct 1, 2022
Starting Sunday
Peralta will start Sunday's game against the Marlins, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
Peralta has worked two and 1.2 innings in two appearances since returning from the injured list Sept. 25. That said, it's unclear how deep into Sunday's game he'll be able to work, though the Brewers may be willing to push him a bit as they face a near must-win scenario to keep their postseason hopes alive.
Sep 29, 2022
Surrenders grand slam in relief
Peralta (4-4) blew the save and took the loss in Thursday's 4-2 loss against Miami. He allowed four runs on three hits and one walk while striking out three over 1.2 innings.
ANALYSIS
Peralta entered Thursday's game up 2-0 in the seventh inning as a reliever and set down the side in order but cost the Brewers the game with a mistake to Avisail Garcia in the eighth. The 26-year-old loaded the bases on a couple of hits and a walk, and then Garcia tagged him for a huge grand slam to put the Marlins up 4-2 and saddle Peralta with his fourth loss of the season. When asked about it post-game, manager Craig Counsell defended his decision to use Peralta out of the bullpen, indicating that Peralta may remain a reliever to close the season. He now has a 3.77 ERA over 74 innings.
Sep 25, 2022
Two innings in return Sunday
Peralta (shoulder) allowed two hits and a walk while striking out three in two innings in a 2-1 loss Sunday in Cincinnati. He did not factor into the decision.
ANALYSIS
Peralta was activated before Sunday's game after spending time on the injured list with a shoulder issue. Since he did not have any rehab outings, it's no surprise that he lasted just two innings and tossed only 44 pitches. With nine games to go for Milwaukee, the lefty is likely to get one more start, next weekend against Miami.
Sep 25, 2022
Activated ahead of Sunday's start
Peralta (shoulder) was activated from the 15-day injured list prior to his start Sunday against the Reds.
ANALYSIS
Given that Peralta last threw two innings Sept. 8 and has not gone on a rehab assignment, he may not be able to go deep enough to qualify for the win Sunday. If he stays on turn, Peralta should make one more start this season next weekend at home against the Marlins.
Sep 23, 2022
Returning Sunday in Cincy
Peralta (shoulder) will start Sunday's game against the Reds, Will Aldrich of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
He last threw two innings Sept. 8 and has been throwing off the mound for only a few days, so Peralta may not go deep enough to qualify for the win. If he stays on turn, he will line up for a final start next weekend at home against the Marlins.
Sep 22, 2022
Could return against Reds
Manager Craig Counsell said Peralta (shoulder) could be involved in the Brewers' upcoming series in Cincinnati, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
Peralta last pitched Sept. 8 against San Francisco when he exited the game early due to fatigue in his throwing shoulder. The Brewers currently have no starter listed for Sunday's contest against the Reds, so it is possible that Peralta could make his return then.
Sep 19, 2022
Cleared for mound work
Peralta (shoulder) threw off a mound Monday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Peralta took a key step forward by throwing off a mound, the first time doing so since hitting the injured list Sept. 9 due to shoulder fatigue. He'll likely need to prove his health in another side session or two, but he remains on track to return before the end of the regular season.
Sep 17, 2022
Throws off flat ground
Peralta (shoulder) threw off flat ground Saturday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Peralta has been on the injured list for just over a week due to shoulder fatigue, but he's now been cleared to begin a throwing program. Manager Craig Counsell said Saturday that he "absolutely" expects the right-hander to return prior to the end of the regular season, but he'll need to make several more steps in his recovery process before he's cleared to be activated.
Sep 9, 2022
To IL with shoulder fatigue
Peralta (shoulder fatigue) will be placed on the 15-day injured list, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
This is the same shoulder that Peralta strained in late May, causing him to miss 10 weeks. He also had Thursday's start pushed back a few days due to shoulder soreness. Peralta had an 11.6 K/9 before the initial IL stint and while he was effective (2.27 ERA, 0.82 WHIP) after returning Aug. 3, his K/9 plummeted to 7.4 in 31.2 innings before going back on the IL. Eric Lauer (elbow) had encouraging MRI results Thursday, but if he can't make a swift return to the rotation, the Brewers may have to go with a bullpen game for Peralta's next turn in the rotation.
Sep 8, 2022
Exits with shoulder fatigue
Peralta left Thursday's start against the Giants with right shoulder fatigue, Sophia Minnaert of Bally Sports Wisconsin reports.
ANALYSIS
There is no timeline for when Peralta might return to the rotation, but given that he missed 10 weeks with a shoulder strain and had this start pushed back a few days due to shoulder soreness, he will likely head for tests. Peralta struck out three and walked two over two scoreless innings Tuesday before exiting.
Sep 8, 2022
Exits with injury
Peralta left Thursday's start against the Giants in the top of the third inning with the Brewers winning 3-0 and a runner on first base with zero outs, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic noted that Peralta seemed to shorten up noticeably on his last pitch, suggesting that he likely suffered an arm or shoulder injury. Peralta had his start pushed back three days because his shoulder wasn't bouncing back as it should.
Sep 4, 2022
Won't start Monday
Peralta won't start Monday's game against the Rockies, Sophia Minnaert of Bally Sports Wisconsin reports.
ANALYSIS
Peralta was initially listed as Monday's starter, but he hasn't recovered well enough after his last start and will ultimately have a few more days to rest prior to returning to the mound. Adrian Houser will take his place as Monday's starter, while Peralta is expected to start one of the two games during Thursday's doubleheader against the Giants.
Sep 1, 2022
Suppresses runs against Pittsburgh
Peralta allowed one earned run on two hits and no walks while striking out three across five innings Wednesday against the Pirates. He did not factor into the decision.
ANALYSIS
Peralta didn't get many strikeouts and instead relied upon nine flyball outs to shut down the Pittsburgh lineup. He has allowed two earned runs or fewer in all six of his starts since returning from the injured list, though he has surprisingly only punched out 23 batters across 29.2 innings in that span. Even so, the stretch has helped him lower his ERA to 3.56 on the season.

Throws six no-hit frames
Peralta issued one walk and did not allow a hit over six innings in a 4-3 extra-inning loss to the Cubs on Friday. He struck out five and did not factor into the decision.
ANALYSIS
Peralta had his second-best start of the season, dominating the Cubs lineup over six scoreless innings on 82 pitches. He only allowed one batter to reach base and left the game in line for the win before the bullpen coughed up the one-run lead. Peralta has looked good since coming back from a lat injury in the first week of August. He lowered his season-long ERA to 3.69 with the performance and has struck out 73 batters in 63.1 innings this year. He is expected to make his next start in a favorable matchup at home against the Pirates.
Aug 21, 2022
Strikes out five batters
Peralta did not factor into the decision against the Cubs on Saturday, allowing two runs on four hits while striking out five and walking three over six innings.
ANALYSIS
Peralta earned a quality start in Saturday's contest, but with the game going to extra innings, he did not factor into the decision. He threw 54 of 95 pitches for strikes allowing two runs to score on a Willson Contreras homer in the fifth inning. The effort was his third quality start of the year and lowered his ERA to 4.08.
Aug 16, 2022
Goes four innings in loss
Peralta (4-3) took the loss against the Dodgers on Monday, pitching four innings and allowing one run on two hits and four walks while striking out three batters.
ANALYSIS
The only run against Peralta came on Freddie Freeman's first-inning solo homer, and the righty hurler allowed just one more hit while he was in the game. However, Peralta also tied a season high with four walks and needed 92 pitches (only 51 of which were strikes) to get through four frames. He's still working his way back from a lengthy absence due to a lat strain, but the short outing was more a result of inefficiency than any sort of innings limit. Peralta has given up five runs over 12.2 innings across three starts since his early-August return to the rotation.
Aug 9, 2022
Pitches well in win
Peralta (4-2) earned the victory Tuesday over Tampa Bay, striking out four in five innings while allowing two runs on two hits.
ANALYSIS
Peralta allowed a single and a two-run homer in the third inning to account for the only baserunners against him. He retired every other batter he faced and got through the five frames while throwing 65 pitches. It was his second start since coming off the injured list after losing two-plus months with a lat injury. His pitch count will likely rise for his next start, early next week against the Dodgers.
Aug 4, 2022
Pulled in fourth inning
Peralta gave up two earned runs on four hits and two walks while striking out three over 3.2 innings in an 8-7 loss to the Pirates on Wednesday. He did not factor into the decision.
ANALYSIS
Peralta made his first start since May 22 due to being sidelined with a lat injury. It didn't go as smoothly as he had hoped, since he was pulled before making it through the fourth inning after giving up a triple to Tucupita Marcano. However, Peralta did throw 67 pitches without any discomfort. It is a positive sign that he could be on his way to recapturing the success he found in 2021 when he posted an excellent 2.81 ERA and 0.97 WHIP with 195 strikeouts in 27 starts. Look for him to try and increase his workload in his next expected start against the Rays.
Aug 3, 2022
Comes off IL
The Brewers reinstated Peralta (lat) from the 60-day injured list ahead of his scheduled start in Wednesday's game in Pittsburgh.
ANALYSIS
Peralta stretched out to only 3.1 innings and 52 pitches over the course of his two minor-league rehab assignment, but the Brewers were satisfied enough with his results and with how he looked from a pure stuff standpoint to bring him back from the IL slightly sooner than originally expected. Though he'll pick up the start Wednesday, Peralta is unlikely to work more than five or six innings, but that could be enough for him to qualify for the win if the Brewers are able to get out to an early lead. The newly acquired Dinelson Lamet was designated for assignment to open up a spot on the 40-man roster and 26-man active roster for Peralta, who will be making his first start for the Brewers since May 22.
Aug 2, 2022
Rejoining rotation Wednesday
Peralta (lat) will rejoin the Brewers' rotation Wednesday against the Pirates, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The Brewers clearly did not trade for Peralta, but he has not appeared in a game with the big club since May 22, so he can partly be viewed as a big post-deadline addition. Peralta threw only 52 pitches in his last rehab start, so he probably is not ready for a full workload just yet. However, he figures to be back at full strength within a matter of weeks.
Jul 31, 2022
Return from IL imminent
Manager Craig Counsell said Peralta (lat) will return from his rehab assignment and join the Brewers during the upcoming series in Pittsburgh, which begins Tuesday, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
The 26-year-old made his second minor-league rehab start with Triple-A Nashville on Friday and threw 52 pitches across 3.1 innings, and the team has apparently seen enough to bring him back to the major-league club. Peralta isn't fully stretched out and may not immediately reclaim his spot in the starting rotation, but he could work in tandem with another pitcher for his first outing or two as he continues to build up his workload. He had a 4.42 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 50:13 K:BB across 38.2 innings (eight starts) before suffering the lat strain in late May.
Jul 29, 2022
Fans five in 3.1 rehab innings
Peralta (lat) gave up one run on three hits and zero walks while striking out five and touching 96 mph with his fastball Friday for Triple-A Nashville, Sounds announcer Jeff Hem reports.
ANALYSIS
He built up to 52 pitches, leaving with a runner at third who came around to score. Peralta threw two innings and struck out three his last time out, so he is trending in the right direction. It's unclear how many more rehab starts he will require.
Jul 23, 2022
First rehab start Sunday
Peralta (lat) will begin his rehab assignment Sunday, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
There hasn't been a setback, per Hogg, the Brewers just got their days mixed up when announcing that Peralta's rehab assignment would begin Saturday. It's unclear how many rehab starts Peralta will need, but he is tracking toward a mid-to-late August return if he avoids setbacks.
Jul 22, 2022
Starting rehab assignment Saturday
Peralta (lat) will make his first rehab start with Triple-A Nashville on Saturday, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
There wasn't an exact workload disclosed, but manager Craig Counsell did say that Peralta would work multiple innings. He'll work on a starter schedule and will build up an inning per outing. Assuming no major setbacks, Peralta could return in mid-to-late August.
Jul 22, 2022
Nearing rehab assignment
Brewers team president David Stearns said Friday on 620 WTMJ Radio that Peralta is expected begin a rehab assignment "sometime within the next week."
ANALYSIS
The right-hander landed on the shelf May 22 with a right late strain, and he resumed a throwing program in mid-June. Peralta has built up his arm over the past month, and he's now closing in on a minor-league rehab assignment. The 26-year-old will likely require multiple rehab outings given the length of his absence, but if all goes well he could rejoin Milwaukee's rotation around mid-August.
Jul 11, 2022
Completes bullpen session
Peralta (lat) threw a bullpen session Friday and told Sophia Minnaert of Bally Sports Wisconsin that he felt good following the workout.
ANALYSIS
Peralta said he will throw one more bullpen session during the upcoming week before likely graduating to throwing live batting practice, if all goes well. After that, Peralta could head out on a rehab assignment at some point during the upcoming All-Star break, and he'll likely need at least two or three outings to get stretched back out for starting duty because he's been sidelined since late May with a strained right shoulder. Peralta is seemingly tracking toward an early-August return from the 60-day injured list.
Jun 15, 2022
Resumes throwing
Manager Craig Counsell said Wednesday that Peralta (lat) has resumed throwing, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
Peralta has been working out at the Brewers' extended spring training facility in Arizona over the last several days, but it's encouraging that he's now playing catch. The right-hander still faces a lengthy recovery process, as he was transferred to the 60-day injured list Tuesday and will be ineligible to return until at least late July.
Jun 14, 2022
Shifts to 60-day IL
The Brewers transferred Peralta (lat) on Tuesday from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL.
ANALYSIS
The transaction ensures that Peralta will be sidelined through the All-Star break, a development that was expected after Will Sammon of The Athletic reported earlier Tuesday that the right-hander recently resumed working out in Arizona but is still a month away from being ready to rejoin the Brewers' active roster. With Peralta being removed from the 40-man roster as a result of the move to the 60-day IL, the Brewers opened up a spot for right-hander Chi Chi Gonzalez, who was claimed off waivers from the Twins.
Jun 14, 2022
Likely to miss another month
Peralta (lat) recently resumed working out at the Brewers' extended spring training facility in Arizona, but he's not expected to make his return from the 15-day injured list for at least another month, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Peralta has been on the shelf since exiting his May 22 start with a right lat strain. At the time Peralta was shut down with the injury, the Brewers were bracing for a long-term absence, so the news that he'll likely remain sidelined through the All-Star break shouldn't come as a major surprise. Until Peralta resumes facing hitters and is cleared for a minor-league rehab assignment, the Brewers likely won't offer a potential target date for his return from the IL.
May 23, 2022
To miss significant time
Peralta (shoulder) will miss "significant" time but is expected to pitch again this season, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
Peralta was placed on the injured list Monday with a strain in his shoulder, and he will now be in line for a lengthy absence. Aaron Ashby is the likeliest candidate to enter the rotation while Peralta remains sidelined.
May 23, 2022
Officially placed on injured list
Peralta was placed on the 15-day injured list with a right lat strain Monday.
ANALYSIS
Peralta was removed from Sunday's start against the Nationals in the fourth inning, and he'll land on the injured list after being diagnosed with a right lat strain. It's not yet clear whether Peralta will be forced to miss more than the minimum of 15 days, but Aaron Ashby seems to be a likely option to take his place in the rotation.
May 22, 2022
Heading to IL with shoulder injury
Manager Craig Counsell said Sunday that Peralta (shoulder) will require a trip to the injured list, Sophia Minnaert of Bally Sports Wisconsin reports.
ANALYSIS
Peralta exited Sunday's start against the Nationals in the fourth inning due to right shoulder tightness, and he'll undergo an MRI on Monday while remaining in Milwaukee. While a better idea of the right-hander's recovery timetable will likely come into focus based on his MRI results, it appears as though he'll miss at least a couple turns through the rotation. Aaron Ashby is a strong candidate to fill in as a starter while Peralta is sidelined.
May 22, 2022
Injury labeled shoulder tightness
The Brewers announced that Peralta was removed in the fourth inning of his start Sunday against the Nationals due to right shoulder tightness, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
Before he exited without recording an out in the top of the fourth, Peralta was on his way to being dealt his second loss of the season after he was charged with five earned runs on six hits and one walk while striking out two in three innings. The greater concern for fantasy managers rather than the ratio damage he inflicted is whether Peralta's shoulder issue forces a trip to the injured list. The Brewers will likely send Peralta in for an MRI later Sunday or early Monday, which should offer more clarity on his status. If Peralta is shut down for a period of time due to the injury, Aaron Ashby would be the next man up to replace him in the rotation.
May 22, 2022
Leaves start with injury
Peralta was removed Sunday's start against Washington with an apparent right shoulder injury, Sophia Minnaert of Bally Sports Wisconsin reports.
ANALYSIS
The right-hander gave up two singles and a double to open the fourth inning before gesturing toward the back of his right shoulder and exiting the game. Overall Peralta gave up five runs on six hits with two strikeouts and one walk over three innings, and he's set to see his record fall to 3-2 with the Brewers facing a significant deficit. The specifics of the injury remain unclear, and he should be considered day-to-day as he continues to be evaluated.
May 17, 2022
Fans season-high 10 in Monday's win
Peralta (3-1) picked up the win in Monday's 1-0 victory over Atlanta, giving up two hits and a walk over seven scoreless innings while striking out a season-high 10.
ANALYSIS
Two of the three baserunners Peralta allowed reached in the first inning, but after he snuffed out that threat he dominated Atlanta the rest of the way. The right-hander fired 67 of 102 pitches for strikes as he won his third straight start and produced his second quality start of the year, and he'll take a 3.53 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 48:12 K:BB through 35.2 innings into his next outing. Peralta also reached 500 strikeouts for his career with the performance, and among active pitchers who have pitched at least as many innings as him, only Max Scherzer and Gerrit Cole have a better lifetime K/9 rate.
May 11, 2022
Fans eight in second win
Peralta (2-1) picked up the win Tuesday, allowing one run on four hits and a walk over 5.2 innings while striking out eight in a 5-4 victory over the Reds.
ANALYSIS
The right-hander fell just short of his second quality start of the season, leaving after 96 pitches (58 strikes) with two runners on in the sixth inning and the Brewers holding a 3-1 lead. Peralta has turned things around after a bumpy start to 2022, and over his last four outings he boasts a 2.08 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 28:5 K:BB through 21.2 innings -- although it's worth noting he faced the Reds twice and the Pirates once during that stretch.
May 5, 2022
Notches first win of season
Peralta (1-1) picked up the win Wednesday after he pitched five innings, giving up three runs on five hits and two walks while registering seven punchouts against the Reds.
ANALYSIS
Peralta surrendered two runs in the top of the first inning on a Mike Moustakas single and Colin Moran sacrifice fly. The final run on his line came in the fifth frame when TJ Friedl scored on a Brandon Drury sacrifice fly. The 25-year-old notched his first win of the 2022 campaign Wednesday while also matching his season-high with seven strikeouts. Peralta has now allowed three or less runs in four of five starts this season, posting a 5.09 ERA and 1.35 WHIP with 30 punchouts over 23 innings.
Apr 28, 2022
Tosses six scoreless innings
Peralta tossed six scoreless innings on three hits and zero walks during Thursday's 3-2 win over the Pirates. He struck out seven and did not factor in the decision.
ANALYSIS
After a bumpy start to the campaign, Peralta has allowed just six hits and one run over his last 11 innings. He currently sports a 5.00 ERA and a 23:8 K:BB across 18.0 total innings. His next start is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, May 5 against the Reds.
Apr 22, 2022
Fans six in no-decision
Peralta allowed one run on three hits and two walks over five innings in Friday's loss to the Phillies. He struck out six and did not factor in the decision.
ANALYSIS
Peralta yielded a walk and two hits in the first inning, including an RBI double off the bat of Bryce Harper. He then settled in and tossed four shutout frames. It was a promising outing after he entered Friday having given up nine runs through seven innings in his first two starts. Peralta will carry a 7.50 ERA into his projected start in Pittsburgh next week.
Apr 16, 2022
Rough outing in loss
Peralta (0-1) took the loss, allowing six runs on seven hits and two walks with four strikeouts in three innings in a 10-1 loss Friday against St. Louis.
ANALYSIS
After getting the first two batters out, Peralta allowed the next six to reach safely in the four-run first inning. The Cardinals added two more runs in the second as the 25-year-old needed 77 pitches to complete three innings. The 2021 All-Star has gotten off to an inauspicious start to the season, failing to make it past the fourth inning in either outing and allowing more than a run an inning. His next start is scheduled for Friday in Philadelphia.
Apr 10, 2022
Strikes out six in 2022 debut
Peralta allowed three runs on three hits and four walks while striking out six in four innings during Sunday's win over the Cubs. He didn't factor into the decision.
ANALYSIS
Peralta struggled with command during his season debut, as he threw just 46 of his 88 pitches for strikes. He gave up a three-run homer in the bottom of the first inning but escaped a jam in the bottom of the second before retiring six of the final seven batters he faced. The right-hander had a career-best year in 2021, posting a 2.81 ERA and 0.97 WHIP in 144.1 innings during 28 appearances (27 starts). He tentatively lines up to make his next start at home against the Cardinals on Friday.
Apr 5, 2022
Makes final spring start
Peralta allowed five earned runs over 4.1 innings in his final start of the spring Monday. He allowed six hits and posted a 5:1 K:BB in the contest.
ANALYSIS
Peralta was not particularly sharp during the exhibition season, giving up 15 hits over 14.1 innings and posting a 6.28 ERA. However, he did strike out 15 batters and only walked three, so it doesn't seem there is anything to be overly concerned about. Coming off a season in which he posted career bests in both the ERA (2.81) and WHIP (0.97) departments, Peralta will be a strong third starter in a rotation headlined by Corbin Burnes and Brandon Woodruff.
Oct 2, 2021
Done for regular season
Peralta will not pitch in Sunday's season finale against the Dodgers, Sophia Minnaert of Bally Sports Wisconsin reports.
ANALYSIS
Peralta has not taken the mound since Sep. 26, when he tossed 5.1 innings against the Mets. Instead, the team will focus on getting him ready for the postseason, and he'll conclude the regular season with a 2.81 ERA and 0.97 WHIP with 195 strikeouts across 144.1 frames. The Brewers have not announced Sunday's starter, though manager Craig Counsell also ruled out Brandon Woodruff from consideration.
Sep 27, 2021
Pitches well enough for win
Peralta (10-5) allowed four runs on five hits and a walk while striking out five over 5.1 innings as he got the victory over the Mets on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Peralta started off a little rocky after giving up a solo home run to Francisco Lindor in the opening frame. He ran into some more trouble in the fourth after a single and two doubles to kick off the inning scored two more runs for the Mets. A walk and a base hit with one away in the sixth would cap his day at 91 pitches. He was charged with one more run before it was all said and done after one of the inherited runners came in to score. Peralta has taken a bit of a step back over the final two months of the season. He owns a 4.71 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 50:9 K:BB over eight starts since Aug. 4. He's still been magnificent overall, as he now sports a 2.81 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 195:56 K:BB over 144.1 innings. The Brewers could choose to rest some of their starters over the final week of the season in preparation for the playoffs, Peralta included. However, he has a chance to make one more regular-season start next weekend against the Dodgers.
Sep 21, 2021
Stuck with loss Monday
Peralta (9-5) allowed three runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out nine over six innings as he took the loss against the Cardinals on Monday.
ANALYSIS
Peralta made quick work of the first two batters he faced with two strikeouts but then gave up a single to Tyler O'Neill and a two-run home run to Nolan Arenado. He would blank the Cardinals until the sixth inning when Yadier Molina singled home a run to regain the lead and then struck out the final two batters in the inning before his day was done. Peralta has now put together back-to-back quality starts after struggling earlier in the month while coming back from a shoulder injury. The 25-year-old now has a 2.65 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 190:55 K:BB over 139 innings and is set to appear again at home this weekend.
Sep 15, 2021
Fans nine in no-decision
Peralta fired seven shutout innings during Tuesday's no-decision against the Tigers. He allowed two hits and no walks while striking out nine.
ANALYSIS
Making his third start since returning from a shoulder injury, Peralta looked back in strong form after surrendering eight earned runs over his previous three starts (7.2 innings). The 25-year-old displayed impeccable command, failing to issue any free passes for just the third time this year. The successful outing lowers Peralta's season stats to a 2.57 ERA and 0.95 WHIP. The right-hander will look to get into the win column during his next projected start Monday against the Cardinals.
Sep 9, 2021
Pulled in fourth inning
Peralta pitched 3.2 innings and did not factor into the decision of Wednesday's victory over the Phillies. He allowed three runs (one earned) on four hits and a walk while striking out four.
ANALYSIS
The 25-year-old was tagged for a solo home run by Bryce Harper in the first inning prior to allowing two unearned runs in the third inning. He was pulled in the fourth inning after only 81 pitches. It was Peralta's second start since returning from a shoulder injury and he has allowed five earned runs over 5.2 innings. His next start is expected to come Wednesday in Detroit.
Sep 4, 2021
Struggles in return to rotation
Peralta (9-4) took the loss against St. Louis on Friday, completing two innings and allowing four runs one three hits and two walks while striking out four.
ANALYSIS
Peralta returned to action after missing over two weeks with right shoulder inflammation. He wasn't sharp in the brief appearance, as he needed 53 pitches to retire six batters and surrendered four runs for the first time since early May. The right-hander ended his outing on a high note, striking out the final two hitters he faced with a pair of runners in scoring position, but this was otherwise a disappointing outcome both for Peralta and for fantasy managers who roster him. The 25-year-old will look for better results his next time out, which is likely to come at Cleveland late next week.
Sep 3, 2021
Activated for Friday's start
Peralta (shoulder) was activated from the 10-day injured list to start Friday's game against the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
Peralta will rejoin the rotation as expected Friday after missing just over two weeks with inflammation in his right shoulder. The 25-year-old may face some minor workload limitations as the Brewers may attempt to ease him back into the rotation.
Aug 31, 2021
Trending toward Friday return
Brewers manager Craig Counsell said he expects Peralta (shoulder) to return from the 10-day injured list to start Friday's series opener versus St. Louis, Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
Peralta was placed on the 10-day injured list Aug. 19 with right shoulder inflammation, but the injury was never considered overly serious. The shutdown may have in part been motivated by the Brewers' desire to cap Peralta's innings count; he's already covered a career-high 121.1 frames in 2021, nearly 100 more than his 2020 total. The Brewers were seemingly satisfied with how Peralta's shoulder checked out during a pair of bullpen sessions Friday and Monday, clearing the way for him to return to action this weekend.
Aug 27, 2021
Impresses during bullpen
Peralta (shoulder) impressed during Friday's bullpen session, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
The Brewers have been hopeful that Peralta will be able to return by late next week or sometime next weekend, and he drew praise from manager Craig Counsell following Friday's throwing session. The right-hander will likely throw another bullpen in the coming days before the team doctors determine his return date.
Aug 26, 2021
Throwing bullpen Friday
Peralta (shoulder) will throw a bullpen session Friday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Peralta felt good after playing catch Thursday, and he'll be able to resume mound work Friday. Following Friday's throwing session, the right-hander is expected to take a few days off before throwing another bullpen. If he feels good after each bullpen session, Peralta hopes to rejoin the Brewers' rotation late next week or sometime next weekend.
Aug 24, 2021
Returning to mound soon
Manager Craig Counsell said Peralta (shoulder) will likely throw off the mound at some point this week, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
The 25-year-old has been on the injured list with right shoulder inflammation since Thursday, but he won't need a rehab assignment before returning. Counsell said he Peralta should be activated by the start of Milwaukee's Sept. 3 homestead. More details about the righty's recovery should become available by end of this week as he progresses to mound work.
Aug 22, 2021
Plays catch Sunday
Peralta (shoulder) played catch Sunday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Peralta's throwing session Sunday was the first time that he had thrown since he was placed on the 10-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation Thursday. Manager Craig Counsell said Sunday that he's pleased with the right-hander's progress so far, and he's optimistic that Peralta will be able to return following a minimal stay on the 10-day IL.
Aug 19, 2021
Moves to IL
The Brewers placed Peralta (shoulder) on the 10-day injured list Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Peralta was pulled in the third inning of his start during Wednesday's win over the Cardinals after experiencing shoulder inflammation, but Brewers manager Craig Counsell suggested after the contest that the right-hander's removal was mostly precautionary in nature. Though the Brewers are still classifying Peralta's shoulder injury as inflammation, the team will err on the side of caution and deactivate him for at least one turn through the rotation. Given that Milwaukee was looking to manage Peralta's workload down the stretch anyway since he's pitched nearly 100 more innings than he did in 2020, his move to the IL isn't necessarily a major red flag. Assuming Peralta is cleared to resume throwing in the next few days, he should be in line for a minimum-length stay on the IL, or close to it.
Aug 19, 2021
Expects to make next start
Peralta (shoulder) said after Wednesday's game against the Cardinals that he expects to make his next start, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Peralta said his shoulder issue has nothing to do with his swinging strike in the third inning, after which he exited the game. The righty's next scheduled start is Wednesday against the Reds.
Aug 18, 2021
Dealing with shoulder discomfort
Peralta left Wednesday's start against the Cardinals after two innings with right shoulder discomfort, Sophia Minnaert of Bally Sports Wisconsin reports.
ANALYSIS
The righty may have hurt himself on a swinging strike in the top of the third, although there's been no confirmation that was the cause of injury. It's unclear whether he will miss his next start or if an injured list stint will be necessary, but the likely playoff-bound Brewers figure to exercise caution with Peralta.
Aug 18, 2021
Exits with apparent injury
Peralta was removed from Wednesday's game against the Cardinals after two innings due to an apparent injury, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Peralta had thrown 43 pitches and allowed three runs in the first two innings. He appeared to grimace after a swinging strike in the top of the third, but it's unclear whether that was the cause of his injury. Hunter Strickland entered the game, and more details about Peralta's condition and why he exited should become clear shortly.
Aug 10, 2021
Fans eight in ninth win
Peralta (9-3) picked up the win in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Cubs, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks over 5.1 innings in a 4-2 victory. He struck out eight.
ANALYSIS
The right-hander fired 61 of 89 pitches for strikes before exiting two outs shy of his third straight quality start. Peralta continues to impress, giving up more than two earned runs just once in his last 15 outings, and he'll take a 2.26 ERA and 162:51 K:BB through 119.1 innings into his next start.
Aug 9, 2021
Monday's contest postponed
Peralta and the Brewers won't play against the Cubs on Monday after the game was postponed due to inclement weather, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
Peralta will get an extra day of rest prior to pitching the first game in Tuesday's doubleheader, while Aaron Ashby will start Game 2. The righty has been effective recently with a 1.13 ERA and 0.88 WHIP in 16 innings across his last three starts.
Aug 4, 2021
Fans nine in no-decision
Peralta allowed two runs on six hits and two walks while striking out nine in six innings in a no-decision versus Pittsburgh on Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Unfortunately for Peralta, it took Milwaukee's offense until the seventh inning to take the lead for good, but he avoided taking a loss. The 25-year-old has collected a win and three no-decisions in his last four starts. Peralta continues to be a pleasant surprise this year with a 2.21 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 154:49 K:BB through 114 innings across 21 appearances (20 starts). The right-hander is projected to make his next start versus a depleted Cubs team next week.
Jul 29, 2021
Fires six scoreless
Peralta (8-3) picked up the win Thursday after blanking the Pirates across six innings. He allowed two hits and a walk while striking out five.
ANALYSIS
Peralta continued his nearly unhittable season by allowing two or fewer hits for the 13th time. The 25-year-old displayed strong command to get the job done while needing only 68 pitches to complete six innings during the blowout victory. Peralta will bring a stellar 2.17 ERA and 0.87 WHIP into a projected rematch against Pittsburgh on Wednesday.
Jul 23, 2021
Pitches four scoreless innings
Peralta allowed a hit and two walks while striking out five over four scoreless innings versus the White Sox on Friday. He did not factor in the decision.
ANALYSIS
It took a week for Peralta to make his first start since the All-Star break, and the right-hander only threw 51 pitches (32 strikes) Friday. He was followed by Adrian Houser, who earned the win after completing the fifth inning with Milwaukee leading. Innings management could be a factor for Peralta the rest of the way, but he's been excellent when on the mound with a 2.29 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 140:46 K:BB through 102 innings. The 25-year-old tentatively lines up to face Atlanta next weekend, but he could move into a more favorable matchup versus Pittsburgh if Houser doesn't receive a start next week.

Won't start until next weekend
Brewers manager Craig Counsell suggested Friday that Peralta won't make his first start of the second half until next weekend's three-game series with the White Sox, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
After Peralta struck out the side over an inning of relief in Tuesday's MLB All-Star Game, he was already scheduled to open the second half near the back of the Brewers' pitching schedule. With Counsell apparently planning to keep a six-man rotation intact and a pair of off days coming July 19 and July 22, Peralta should get ample time to rest before he presumably picks up a start July 23. Since Peralta was deployed as a full-time reliever in 2020, the Brewers are likely eager to monitor his innings carefully the rest of the way, even though he's shown no signs of slowly down while working as a starter. Peralta headed into the All-Star break with a 2.39 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 135:44 K:BB across 98 innings.

Fans six in no-decision
Peralta didn't factor into the decision Saturday against the Reds after giving up three runs on two hits and two walks while fanning six across five innings.
ANALYSIS
Peralta gave up a three-run homer to Nick Castellanos in the sixth inning before departing the contest, but he was excellent the rest of the way and was just three outs away from recording another quality start. The veteran right-hander ended a streak of four straight quality starts, but he still owns an excellent 2.39 ERA across 98 innings on the season. That would be a new career-best ERA if Peralta is able to sustain it over the second half of the season.

Delivers quality start Monday
Peralta allowed two earned runs on two hits and four walks while striking out eight across six innings in the win over the Cubs on Monday. He did not factor into the decision.
ANALYSIS
Peralta allowed a two-run home run to Ian Happ in the first inning. After settling in, he fired five scoreless innings and left the game through six frames with a 4-2 lead. He ended up not getting the win, but it was his fifth quality start in his last six outings. The 25-year-old has a 2.17 ERA and a 0.87 WHIP in 87 innings. He offers premium strikeout rates, with a 12.6 K/9 that is good for fourth in all of baseball.

Fans 10 in dominant performance
Peralta (7-2) earned the win Tuesday against the Diamondbacks after tossing six scoreless innings, giving up one hit and four walks while fanning 10.
ANALYSIS
Peralta tied his season-high mark in strikeouts and posted another quality start -- his eighth of the campaign -- while looking absolutely dominant on the mound. Peralta has given up two or fewer earned runs in eight straight appearances and has lowered his ERA to an impressive 2.11 on the season. He's slated to take the ball next week at home against the Cubs.

Quality start in loss
Peralta (6-2) allowed two runs on five hits and struck out six over seven innings, but he took the loss Wednesday versus Cincinnati.
ANALYSIS
Two of the five hits Peralta allowed were RBI doubles, which accounted for the runs he gave up. The right-hander hasn't allowed more than two runs in a start since May 5, a span of seven straight starts. He has a 2.28 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 104:29 K:BB across 75 innings this year. Peralta lines up for a favorable road start in Arizona next week.

Fans six in no-decision
Peralta did not factor into the decision during Thursday's win over the Reds despite allowing one run on two hits and a pair of walks while striking out six across four innings.
ANALYSIS
A 37-minute rain delay put the hammer in Peralta's successful outing. The right-hander left the game with the score tied, 1-1, with his only damage of the day coming from a solo homer by Joey Votto in the second inning. Unfortunately, Peralta snapped his streak of seven-plus punchouts to begin a season at 11 starts. Regardless, over his last six outings, Peralta has collected 45 strikeouts while allowing just five runs over 36 innings. The 25-year-old lines up for a rematch with the Reds at home Tuesday.

Flirts with no-hitter
Peralta (6-1) allowed one run on one hit and three walks over 7.1 innings Friday, striking out nine and earning the win over Arizona.
ANALYSIS
Peralta completely dominated the Diamondbacks on Friday, carrying a no-hitter into the eighth inning before yielding a single to Nick Ahmed. He was charged with a run after Josh Reddick came in to score with Brad Boxberger on the mound. Over his last five starts, Peralta has racked up 39 strikeouts while allowing just four runs over 32 innings. He'll carry a 2.25 ERA into next week's projected start in Cincinnati.

Goes distance in Game 1
Peralta (5-1) earned the win in Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader at Washington after allowing one run on four hits with seven strikeouts and one walk over seven innings.
ANALYSIS
The 24-year-old took advantage of the shortened game as part of the twin bill and delivered the first complete game of his career. The right-hander surrendered a solo homer to Kyle Schwarber during the fourth inning but otherwise kept the Nationals off the board. Peralta has a 2.38 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 83:24 K:BB across 56.2 innings through 11 starts this season.
May 24, 2021
One out away from win
Peralta didn't factor into the decision after giving up two runs on three hits and four walks while fanning seven across 4.2 innings.
ANALYSIS
Peralta might have ended just one out away from recording his fifth win of the season, but he showed swing-and-miss stuff once again -- he's fanned at least seven in nine straight appearances and owns what would be a career-best figure of 13.8 K/9 through his first 10 appearances of the campaign. He has also posted a 2.54 ERA in that span -- that would also be a career-best figure for the 25-year-old right-hander. Peralta's next turn to pitch is slated to come Friday on the road against the Nationals.
May 16, 2021
Tosses six shutout frames
Peralta (4-1) yielded two hits and a walk over six scoreless innings Sunday, striking out eight and earning the win over Atlanta.
ANALYSIS
Peralta picked up a victory despite Milwaukee's bullpen coughing up nine runs in just three innings thanks to a 10-run outburst by the offense. He allowed just two singles and only one Atlanta runner reached scoring position against him. Over his last two starts, the 24-year-old has struck out 18 batters while allowing three hits over 13 shutout frames. He's now sporting a terrific 2.40 ERA and 69:19 K:BB across 45 innings this season. Peralta is currently lined up to take the mound in Cincinnati next weekend.
May 12, 2021
Dominant seven innings
Peralta allowed one hit and one walk while striking out eight across seven scoreless innings Tuesday against the Cardinals. He did not factor into the decision.
ANALYSIS
Peralta dominated the Cardinals by piling up 17 swinging strikes across 97 total pitches in his longest outing of the campaign. Despite working at least six innings only three times, Peralta has punched out at least seven hitters in all seven of the games he's started this season. The result is a strong 2.77 ERA with a 61:18 K:BB across 39 innings. Peralta currently lines up to make his next start Sunday against Atlanta.
May 6, 2021
Stuck with first loss
Peralta (3-1) took the loss Wednesday as the Brewers fell 5-4 to the Phillies, coughing up five runs on four hits and three walks over four innings. He struck out eight.
ANALYSIS
All five runs crossed the plate in a rough first inning, and while Peralta was able to steady the ship afterward, Milwaukee's offense couldn't climb out of the hole. The right-hander threw 44 of 73 pitches for strikes, and he'll take a 3.38 ERA and impressive 53:17 K:BB through 32 innings into his next outing.
May 1, 2021
Pick up win No. 3
Peralta (3-0) allowed one run on one hit and a walk while striking out seven over six innings in a 3-1 win over the Dodgers on Friday.
ANALYSIS
Peralta was absolutely dominant Friday. The 25-year-old allowed his only hit of the night when A.J. Pollock homered off him to begin the fifth and managed to issue just one walk for a second straight start. The right-hander was battling for a rotation spot during spring training and has undoubtedly run away with the opportunity as he currently owns a 2.25 ERA and 45:14 K:BB over 28 innings. He's next expected to pitch on the road against the Phillies next week.
Apr 25, 2021
Seven whiffs in no-decision
Peralta didn't factor into the decision in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Cubs, allowing two runs on five hits and a walk over four innings while striking out seven.
ANALYSIS
The right-hander checked out after throwing 81 pitches (52 strikes) and was in line for the loss until the Brewers' bats got rolling in the fifth inning. Peralta has struck out at least six batters in all five of his starts but has lasted longer than five innings only once, and his inefficiency does put a cap on his wins potential and fantasy value. He'll take a 2.45 ERA and 38:13 K:BB through 22 innings into his next outing Thursday at home against the Dodgers.
Apr 18, 2021
Whiffs seven in no-decision
Peralta allowed three runs on three hits and three walks with seven strikeouts in five innings versus the Pirates on Sunday. He did not factor in the decision.
ANALYSIS
All of the runs against Peralta came on a three-run blast by Colin Moran in the third inning. The 24-year-old Peralta hadn't allowed multiple runs in an appearance this season prior to Sunday. He has a 2.00 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 31:12 K:BB in 18 innings overall. The right-hander's next start is expected to be Saturday against the Cubs.
Apr 13, 2021
Strikes out 10 in dominant outing
Peralta (2-0) gave up one run on two hits and two walks while fanning 10 across six innings in Monday's win over the Cubs.
ANALYSIS
Peralta has looked absolutely dominant in his first two starts of the campaign, allowing just one run while fanning 18 across 11 innings. The fact that he walked just two in this outing was a positive sign as well, as he allowed four free passes in his previous start against Chicago last week. Peralta is lined up to make his third start of the season at home against the Pirates on April 18.
Apr 6, 2021
Punches out eight
Peralta (1-0) allowed one hit and four walks while striking out eight across five scoreless innings to earn the win Tuesday against the Cubs.
ANALYSIS
Peralta appeared as a reliever on Opening Day, but Tuesday marked his first start of the campaign. He flashed tremendous swing-and-miss stuff, racking up 17 swinging strikes across 91 total pitches and also limited the Cubs to just one extra-base hit. The only downside to his performance were the four free passes, which helped to balloon his pitch count and limit him to five frames. Nevertheless, the outing was overwhelmingly positive for Peralta, who lines up to make his next start Monday in a rematch against the Cubs.
Mar 25, 2021
Named fifth starter
Peralta has been named the Brewers' fifth starter to begin the regular season, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Peralta made just one start for the Brewers last year, but he'll begin the year in the rotation after a strong spring performance. The right-hander has made three Cactus League appearances (one start) and allowed one run on eight hits and three walks while striking out 15 in 8.1 innings.
Mar 12, 2021
Making case for rotation spot
Peralta tossed 2.2 scoreless innings in Thursday's spring game against the Royals. He allowed two hits, struck out seven batters and walked one.
ANALYSIS
Peralta shined in a relief role last season, but the Brewers are giving him a chance to start this spring. He has done just about all he could do up to this point, giving up no earned runs over 3.2 innings while recording 10 of the 11 outs he has tallied via the strikeout. It likely won't be known until late in the spring season if Peralta will open in the rotation or in the bullpen, but his fantasy stock would undoubtedly get a boost should it be the former.
Feb 24, 2021
Getting stretched out
Manager Craig Counsell said Wednesday that Peralta will be stretched out during spring training as the Brewers prepare to have him handle a larger innings load in 2021, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
While Counsell didn't suggest that Peralta will be competing for a spot in Milwaukee's rotation, the team seemingly wants to maximize his use as a primary pitcher or multi-inning relief arm after he pitched effectively out of the bullpen in 2020. Over his 29.1 innings, Peralta posted a 3.99 ERA (2.40 FIP) to go with an exceptional 28.0 K-BB%. Since he doesn't have a starting role and likely won't be considered for save situations, Peralta will likely slide under the radar in fantasy, but he could have some sneaky value in the ratio and strikeout categories if he ends up approaching 100 innings over the course of a full season.

Reinstated from paternity list
Peralta was reinstated from the paternity list Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Peralta spent two days on the paternity list, but he'll be available out of the bullpen once again for the final two games of the regular season. Southpaw Eric Lauer was optioned to the alternate training site to make room on the active roster.
Sep 24, 2020
Placed on paternity list
Peralta was placed on the paternity list Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Peralta has pitched well recently as he's allowed just one run over his last five appearances while earning two wins during that time. However, he'll now be sidelined after the birth of his child. Players usually spend approximately three days on the paternity list, so it's unclear whether he'll return during the regular season. However, he could be available out of the bullpen if the Brewers qualify for the postseason. Left-hander Eric Lauer was recalled in a corresponding move.

Earns win in Game 2
Peralta (3-1) pitched two perfect innings and struck out three to earn the win in Game 2 of Wednesday's doubleheader versus the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
Peralta followed opener Brent Suter in the contest. The 24-year-old Peralta was particularly impressive in the fifth inning, striking out the side on 14 pitches. He's posted a 3.51 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 43:11 K:BB across 25.2 innings this season. Peralta also has two holds in 13 appearances.
Sep 14, 2020
Picks up second win
Peralta (2-1) picked up the win in Game 1 of Monday's doubleheader against the Cardinals, allowing one unearned run on one hit while pitching the eighth inning.
ANALYSIS
Tyler O'Neill started the inning on second base and later came around to score on Tommy Edman's two-out single. Peralta was not charged with an earned run and the Brewers rallied for a pair of runs in the bottom half of the inning to give him his second win of the season. The right-hander holds a 3.80 ERA across 23.2 innings on the campaign.
Sep 6, 2020
Racking up punchouts
Peralta threw 1.2 scoreless innings in Saturday's loss to Cleveland. He did not allow a hit, struck out four batters and walked three.
ANALYSIS
Peralta had some command issues Saturday, but he was able to prevent the opponent from putting any runs on the scoreboard. Peralta has allowed multiple runs on four separate occasions this season, but since giving up a season-high four tallies in his first outing he has posted a 3.06 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 35:8 K:BB in 17.2 innings over nine relief appearances.
Aug 15, 2020
Rewarded with first win
Peralta (1-1) picked up the win in Friday's 4-3 victory over the Cubs, allowing only one hit over two scoreless innings of relief while striking out five.
ANALYSIS
Entering the game in the fifth inning with the bases loaded and one out, Peralta needed only eight pitches to strike out Javier Baez and Kyle Schwarber to end the Chicago rally. A three-run blast by Christian Yelich in the top of the sixth then made Peralta the winner. The right-hander has been incredible in long relief lately, reeling off nine shutout innings with an absurd 19:2 K:BB over his last three appearances, but whether that run of dominance will encourage the Brewers to give him another look in the rotation remains to be seen.
Aug 11, 2020
Stellar in relief
Peralta struck out eight batters over four scoreless innings of relief in Monday's loss to the Twins. He allowed just one hit and walked just one batter in the outing.
ANALYSIS
The Brewers moved Peralta from the rotation into a long-relief role last week, and he has been dominant since the switch, tossing seven scoreless frames over two outings while allowing just five hitters to reach base and punching out 14 of them.
Aug 5, 2020
Likely shifting to bullpen
Peralta seems set to move to the bullpen with Eric Lauer starting Friday's game against the Reds, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Peralta started July 26 against the Cubs and was pulled after allowing four runs over three innings, and he aleardy appeared to be the top candidate to exit the rotation with Brett Anderson returning from the injured list earlier this week. The Brewers didn't play any games last weekend due to the Cardinals' COVID-19 outbreak, so the team positioning Lauer in the rotation Friday is a solid indication of where Peralta currently stands in the pecking order.
Jul 26, 2020
Yanked early in loss
Peralta (0-1) allowed four runs across three innings Sunday, striking out three batters and taking the loss against the Cubs. He allowed three hits and two walks.
ANALYSIS
Peralta had allowed just one run through three innings but issued two walks and yielded a double to start the fourth innings before he was sent to the showers. Prior to Sunday's start, the 24-year-old right-hander wasn't guaranteed a regular spot in the rotation and his poor outing definitely didn't help his case. If he gets another turn, Peralta could face the Cardinals at home next weekend.
Jul 22, 2020
Confirmed as Sunday starter
Manager Craig Counsell said that Peralta will start the Brewers' third game of the season Sunday against the Cubs, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Just a few days earlier, Peralta looked on track to make his 2020 debut next week in Pittsburgh, but Brett Anderson's (finger) move to the injured list resulted in the former being moved up in the pitching schedule. According to Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Counsell told the media to not "get stuck" on traditional starting roles, so Peralta won't necessarily be guaranteed turns through the rotation every fifth day, nor can he be counted on to push toward 100 pitches in each start. Over his 22 career MLB starts, the 24-year-old has posted a 5.27 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 11.3 K/9.
Jul 22, 2020
Lines up for Sunday start
Peralta lines up to start Sunday in Chicago, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
He pitched Tuesday while Josh Lindblom pitches Wednesday, so that confirms the order of the Brewers' rotation. Peralta has a 5.27 ERA, 4.23 FIP, 1.31 WHIP, 29 percent strikeout rate and a 10.6 percent walk rate in 109.1 innings as a starter. He has had some spectacular starts when he is commanding his fastball, but has also been susceptible to short outings. If he struggles early, Brett Anderson (blister) or Eric Lauer (COVID-19) could step into the rotation once they are physically ready.
Jul 6, 2020
Competing with Burnes, Lauer
Peralta is one of three options to win the Brewers' fifth starter job, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
He will be competing with Corbin Burnes and Eric Lauer. The Brewers could conceivably go with a six-man rotation where it's a tandem start on the sixth day, or they could just be very conservative with how deep they let the non Brandon Woodruff starters go. Peralta signed a five-year, $15.5 million contract extension in February, which should make it easier for him to accept any role the Brewers assign him for 2020.
Mar 20, 2020
Will have big-league role
Peralta will have a spot on the Brewers' MLB roster when play resumes, according to Adam McCalvy of MLB.com.
ANALYSIS
It remains to be seen if Peralta will open in the rotation or in a relief role, but the five-year contract he signed with the Brewers in late February all but guarantees he will pitch for the big club when the action gets underway. Peralta allowed six earned runs over 12 innings (4.50 ERA) this spring, but opposing hitters had a tough time making contact against him, managing just six hits while being rung up 15 times (11.3 K/9).
Feb 26, 2020
Signs five-year extension
Peralta agreed to a five-year extension with the Brewers on Wednesday, Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
Peralta will make $15.5 over five seasons, with the Brewers receiving two additional club options worth a total of $14.5 million more. The 23-year-old is now under team control through the 2026 season. Peralta's long-term role is unclear, and he's yet to put everything together at the big-league level, but he's undoubtedly talented. He's made 22 starts and 33 relief appearances in the majors. His 4.79 ERA isn't particularly good, but he's struck out 30.0 percent of opposing batters. He's been held back thus far by a high 11.0 percent walk rate and a low 31.3 percent groundball rate.
Feb 26, 2020
Nearing extension with Milwaukee
Peralta is working to finalize a long-term contract extension with the Brewers this spring, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The 23-year-old is receiving the opportunity to audition for a rotation spot this spring, but he proved to be a dependable bullpen piece late in 2019, holding opposing hitters to a .298 wOBA and posting a 32.6 percent strikeout rate across 49.1 relief innings. With that in mind, Milwaukee is using the five-year, $16 million deal recently signed by White Sox reliever Aaron Bummer as a starting point in their negotiations with Peralta, whose deal could be worth around $30 million if two club options are exercised. Expect the exact details of the contract to be known within the next few days, when the extension will likely be made official.
Feb 24, 2020
Competing for rotation spot
Peralta is competing with Eric Lauer for the fifth starter spot in the Brewers' rotation, according to Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
ANALYSIS
Peralta spent most of last season in the Brewers' bullpen, but the team wants to give him another opportunity to snag a spot in the starting rotation. Peralta struggled as a starter last season but found success in that role in his rookie season of 2018, so he could have some intrigue in deeper leagues should he come away with a rotation spot.
Feb 15, 2020
Bringing slider back
Peralta started using his slider again to great success in the Dominican Winter League, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. "I knew that I could make the slider great, but not that fast," Peralta said. "I took two or three weeks during [Dominican Winter League] games, and when I saw those moments, down in the count or in 3-2 [counts] a lot of the time, 0-2 when you're behind in the count, I was like, 'Oh my God.' I can feel it like I feel the fastball. I can throw it whenever I want."
ANALYSIS
The Brewers encouraged Peralta to work on that pitch in the offseason. He had 20 innings including the Dominican regular season and playoffs, and posted a 1.35 ERA with 34 strikeouts, allowing six hits and three walks. He's got an outside shot to win the fifth starter's job, but it's a good bet to pitch out of the bullpen as the long man if that doesn't work out.
