Ramirez went 1-for-4 with a walk, a stolen base and a run scored in Tuesday's 11-7 loss to the Reds.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez has collected six steals while batting .338 (23-for-68) over his last 17 games. The third baseman's now at 28-for-34 on the basepaths this season, in addition to his 24 home runs, 80 RBI, 87 runs scored and .281/.355/.479 slash line through 152 contests.

Tallies three hits Sunday
Ramirez went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Sunday's 5-1 loss to the Orioles.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez accounted for more than half of the Guardians' five hits in the game. He's hit well in September, batting .304 (28-for-92) with five stolen bases, three home runs and nine RBI over 23 games. For the season, the 31-year-old is up to a .281/.355/.481 slash line with 24 homers, 80 RBI, 86 runs scored, 27 stolen bases, 36 doubles and five triples through 151 contests.
Sep 22, 2023
Nabs steal Thursday
Ramirez went 2-for-4 with a walk, one RBI and a stolen base in Thursday's 5-2 win over the Orioles.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez has multiple hits in seven of his last 14 games, going 20-for-56 (.357) in that span. He's added three home runs and five steals in that span as he continues to be a true five-category factor in fantasy. The third baseman is slashing .279/.354/.481 with 24 homers, 27 thefts, 79 RBI and 84 runs scored across 148 games this season, and it's fair to say that's a bit of a down year for the 31-year-old.

Smacks homer on birthday
Ramirez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional RBI in Sunday's 9-2 win over the Rangers.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez celebrated his 31st birthday with a fourth-inning solo shot, which sparked the Guardians' nine-run rally in the frame. He also contributed an RBI on a groundout in his second at-bat of the inning. Ramirez is batting .292 (19-for-65) in September, and he's at a .278/.352/.486 slash line with 24 homers, 78 RBI, 83 runs scored and 25 stolen bases through 144 games overall.
Sep 17, 2023
Earns 25th steal
Ramirez went 2-for-5 with a stolen base in Saturday's 2-1 win over the Rangers.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez has six multi-hit efforts over his last nine games, and he's added three steals in that span. The third baseman is up to 25 thefts on the season, a mark he's achieved in 31 attempts. He's also slashing .279/.352/.482 with 23 home runs, 76 RBI and 82 runs scored over 143 contests.
Sep 14, 2023
Another two hits in loss
Ramirez went 2-for-5 with a double and a two-run home run in Wednesday's 6-5 loss to the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez wasted no time in getting the Guardians on the board, launching a two-run shot off Kyle Harrison in the first inning to score Steven Kwan. The third baseman also added a double in the contest and has now recorded two hits in back-to-back games and in five of his last seven. He's batting .288 in the month of September with two homers, four RBI and four runs scored.
Sep 10, 2023
Homers in loss
Ramirez went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 6-2 loss to the Angels.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez ended an 11-game homer drought with the first-inning blast. In that span, the third baseman hit just .205 with three extra-base hits. He's up to 22 homers, 73 RBI, 79 runs scored, 23 stolen bases and a .275/.349/.479 slash line through 137 contests this season. Ramirez continues to bat in the heart of the order as Cleveland's most dangerous hitter.
Sep 8, 2023
Collects three hits
Ramirez went 3-for-5 with a double and a run scored in Thursday's 3-2 loss to the Angels.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez had been in a slump, going just 3-for-26 over his previous seven games. His power's also been down lately -- the third baseman hasn't hit a home run since Aug. 27, a span of 10 contests. For the season, he's at a .273/.347/.474 slash line with 21 homers, 33 doubles, 72 RBI, 78 runs scored and 22 stolen bases through 135 games. While Ramirez has been a little quiet, the dry spell is unlikely to jeopardize his near-everyday role in the lineup.
Aug 28, 2023
Homers, steals base in win
Ramirez went 2-for-5 with a home run, two RBI, two runs scored and one steal in Sunday's 10-7 win over the Blue Jays.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez' two-run homer in the third was the 21st for the five-time All-Star. He entered the game in a 4-31 slump but he's showing signs of breaking out of it as he's now homered in back-to-back contests. Ramirez is the lynchpin for the Guardians offense and will look to finish the season on a high note. He's now slashing .279/.353/.489 in 487 at-bats.
Aug 27, 2023
Socks homer No. 20
Ramirez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 8-3 loss to the Blue Jays.
ANALYSIS
He opened the scoring in the top of the first inning by crushing a Hyun Jin Ryu fastball deep to left field, but it was the last lead the Guardians would have on the afternoon. Since returning from his two-game suspension, Ramirez is slashing a tepid .233/.298/.442 over 11 contests, but his two homers during that stretch have gotten him to 20 on the year -- the third straight season, and the sixth time in his career, he's reached that mark.
Aug 24, 2023
Shines in Wednesday's game
Ramirez went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and two stolen bases in a 6-1 loss to the Dodgers in Wednesday's suspended game.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez was about the only bright spot for the Guardians in the contest, which was suspended due to rain after two innings Wednesday before finishing Thursday. The third baseman then went 0-for-4 with a walk in the nightcap, ending the day at a .278/.350/.472 slash line through 122 contests overall. He's up to 19 home runs, 18 steals, 68 RBI and 72 runs scored, and he's gone 8-for-36 (.222) over nine games since returning from a suspension stemming from an incident versus the White Sox earlier in the month.
Aug 14, 2023
Reinstated from suspension
Ramirez was reinstated from his suspension Monday.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez served a two-game suspension over the weekend for his fight with the White Sox' Tim Anderson earlier this month. The Guardians are off Monday, but Ramirez will be available for the start of their two-game set in Cincinnati on Tuesday.
Aug 12, 2023
Begins serving reduced suspension
Ramirez will begin serving a two-game suspension for fighting White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson on Saturday, Tom Withers of the Associated Press reports.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez was initially suspended for three games for his role last Saturday's brawl, but the ban has been reduced to two games on appeal. He'll miss both weekend contests against the Rays but will be available when the Guardians head to Cincinnati on Tuesday.
Aug 11, 2023
Picks up 17th steal
Ramirez went 0-for-2 with a pair of walks and a stolen base in Thursday's 4-3 win over the Blue Jays.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez struggled during this week's four-game series against Toronto, going 1-for-13 with two walks. His steal was his fourth in his last 10 games and his 17th theft of the year. The third baseman is at a .283/.356/.487 slash line with 18 home runs, 65 RBI and 67 runs scored through 112 contests. His appeal for a three-game suspension stemming from an incident Saturday versus the White Sox remains pending, so it's possible he could be unavailable to fantasy managers for a brief time in the near future.
Aug 7, 2023
Gets three-game ban, will appeal
Ramirez received a three-game suspension Monday for his role in an on-field brawl that occurred in Saturday's game against the White Sox, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports. He's appealing the suspension and will be eligible to play in Monday's game against the Blue Jays.
ANALYSIS
Major League Baseball issued suspensions for three players for their roles in the brawl, with Ramirez and Chicago's Tim Anderson (six games) getting bans for throwing punches, while Cleveland reliever Emmanuel Clase drew a one-game ban. It's unclear when Ramirez's appeal will be heard or if he'll drop the appeal at any point, so the 30-year-old could still be at risk of missing time during the Guardians' seven-game week.
Aug 7, 2023
Swipes two bags Sunday
Ramirez went 1-for-3 with two steals in Sunday's 5-3 loss to the White Sox.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez is now 16-for-20 on stolen base attempts this season, with six steals coming in his last 16 games. The 30-year-old third-baseman has swung the bat well recently, boosting his slash line to .289/.361/.500 with 18 homers, 67 runs scored and 65 RBI through 479 plate appearances this season. However, Ramirez seems likely to face a suspension following Saturday's melee with Tim Anderson.
Aug 5, 2023
Ejected following melee
Ramirez was ejected from Saturday's game against the White Sox for his actions in a brawl during the seventh inning.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez and Chicago's Tim Anderson exchanged blows after the former slid into second base in the seventh frame, and both were removed from the contest. MLB will review the matter, and suspensions could be in the cards.
Jul 31, 2023
Homers twice Sunday
Ramirez went 2-for-4 with two homers, a walk and three RBI in Sunday's win over the White Sox.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez went deep in the fifth and seven innings to stretch the Guardians' lead to 5-0. It's his second time in the last week he's had multiple home runs in a game, and he's also recorded three multi-hit efforts in his last five games. Ramirez hasn't struck out more than once in a game since July 16 and is one of three players who are currently striking out less than 10 percent of the time. The 30-year-old is enjoying another productive campaign, as he's slashing .292/.361/.510 with 18 homers, 63 RBI, 67 runs and a 46:45 BB:K over 457 plate appearances.
Jul 26, 2023
Two homers, stolen base in win
Ramirez went 3-for-4 with two homers, three RBI and a stolen base in Wednesday's 8-3 victory over the Royals.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez did it all in the Guardians' win, opening the scoring with a two-run homer in the first inning before adding a solo shot in the third. He also added a walk and a base hit while swiping his 13th bag of the year. Ramirez has been swinging the bat well of late, going 14-for-38 (.368) in his last nine games. The 30-year-old third baseman is putting together another strong season -- he's now slashing .292/.362/.501 with 16 homers, 60 RBI and 64 runs scored across 439 plate appearances.
Jul 22, 2023
Busy on basepaths Friday
Ramirez went 4-for-5 with two runs scored and two stolen bases in Friday's 6-5 win over the Phillies.
ANALYSIS
All four hits were singles, but Ramirez made the most of his trips around the bases. The veteran third baseman has three multi-hit performances in the last four games, boosting his slash line on the season to .294/.366/.499 with 14 homers, 12 steals, 54 RBI and 61 runs in 93 contests.
Jul 15, 2023
Registers 10th steal
Ramirez went 1-for-5 with a stolen base in Friday's 12-4 loss to the Rangers.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez's steal was his 10th of the season and his first since June 29. The third baseman has hit safely in six straight games, going 7-for-23 (.304) in that span, though he has just one RBI on a solo home run in that span. He's maintained a strong .287/.362/.501 slash line with 14 homers, 53 RBI, 55 runs scored, 23 doubles and four triples through 87 contests.
Jul 7, 2023
Hits first homer in July
Ramirez went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in a 6-1 win against Kansas City on Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez launched a solo shot to left field in the sixth inning to give Cleveland its first lead of the game. The long ball was his first in what has been a quiet start to July, as he's slashing .217/.333/.391 without a steal so far this month. Ramirez started June off quietly as well, but he picked things up with a .392/.462/.772 slash line, seven homers, 22 RBI and four thefts over his final 20 games of that month.
Jun 30, 2023
Steals home in extra-inning loss
Ramirez went 1-for-3 with a walk, one RBI, one stolen base and one run scored in Thursday's 4-3 extra-inning loss to the Royals.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez was the initial runner in the 10th inning and moved to third on a groundout before making a straight steal of home for the go-ahead run. The Guardians couldn't keep the lead, with Emmanuel Clase blowing the save in the bottom of the frame. Nonetheless, Ramirez has stolen a base in three straight games after logging just one theft in the previous 45 contests. The third baseman is up to nine steals, 13 home runs, 52 RBI, 50 runs scored and a .298/.367/.525 slash line over 76 games, which includes him slashing a stunning .340/.405/.649 in June.
Jun 29, 2023
Enjoys big night at plate
Ramirez went 2-for-3 with a grand slam, a double, two walks, three total runs, five total RBI and a stolen base in Wednesday's 14-1 rout of the Royals.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez stuffed the stat sheet in a massive performance that included a third-inning grand slam and a seventh-inning RBI double. The star third baseman reached base four times in total, finishing a triple shy of the cycle and adding icing on the fantasy cake with a stolen base. Ramirez has been one of the game's top hitters in June, slashing .340/.406/.660 with seven long balls, 22 RBI, 21 runs, three thefts and an 11:10 BB:K through 23 games.
Jun 28, 2023
Logs seventh steal
Ramirez went 1-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Tuesday's 2-1 win over the Royals.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez saw a six-game hitting streak end with an 0-for-4 effort Sunday. He hasn't gone hitless in consecutive contests since June 2-4. The third baseman is slashing an excellent .294/.360/.512 with 12 home runs, seven steals, 47 RBI, 46 runs scored, 20 doubles and four triples through 74 contests. Ramirez has logged two of his thefts in June, though he remains behind the pace that saw him swipe 20 bags in 2022.
Jun 24, 2023
Stays warm with homer
Ramirez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 7-1 loss to the Brewers.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez has gone 26-for-65 (.400) with six homers and 16 RBI over his last 15 contests. The third baseman provided the Guardians' lone run with his blast off Peter Strzelecki in the seventh inning. Ramirez's June surge has lifted his season numbers to a .293/.355/.519 slash line, 12 homers, 46 RBI, 44 runs scored and six stolen bases through 71 contests. He remains the biggest star in Cleveland's otherwise inconsistent offense.
Jun 22, 2023
Rips triple in three-hit effort
Ramirez went 3-for-4 with a triple and a run scored in Wednesday's 7-6 win over the Athletics.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez has eight multi-hit efforts, including four three-hit games, over his last 13 contests. In that span, he's gone 24-for-58 (.414). His streak of five games with an RBI came to an end Wednesday, was it was still a productive performance. Ramirez is slashing .293/.355/.514 with 11 home runs, 44 RBI, 43 runs scored, 20 doubles, four triples and six stolen bases over 69 contests this season.
Jun 17, 2023
Homers in Friday's loss
Ramirez went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 5-1 loss to the Diamondbacks.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez was the only Guardian to log multiple hits in the contest. It's his sixth multi-hit effort during his nine-game hitting streak, a span in which he's gone 18-for-39 (.462) with five homers and 11 RBI. The third baseman's recent surge has him up to a .292/.359/.510 with 11 long balls, 41 RBI, 40 runs scored, six stolen bases, 19 doubles and two triples through 65 contests overall. While there was little wrong with his start to the season, this is much more like the level of production Ramirez is known for.
Jun 16, 2023
Enjoys productive offensive game
Ramirez went 3-for-4 with a double, a run, two RBI and a stolen base in an 8-6 win against the Padres on Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez twice came up with a run-scoring hit, notching an RBI double in the second inning and plating another run on an infield single in the fourth. The star third baseman finished with his sixth three-hit game of the campaign, three of which have come over his past six contests. During his current eight-game hitting streak, Ramirez is slashing .457/.513/.886 with four homers, 10 RBI, nine runs and one theft.
Jun 11, 2023
Gets breather Sunday
Ramirez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez earns a day off after picking multiple hits in his last three games, and the 30-year-old is slashing .282/.349/.641 with four homer runs through his first 10 games in June. Gabriel Arias will start at third base in the series finale while Ramirez rests.
Jun 10, 2023
Power surge continues
Ramirez went 3-for-4 with three walks, a solo home run and a second run scored in Friday's 10-9 extra-innings win over the Astros.
ANALYSIS
Houston tried its best not to let Ramirez make a difference after he'd hammered three long balls the night before against Boston, but he still launched a game-tying homer off Rafael Montero in the seventh -- kicking off a wild finish to the contest that saw Cleveland set a record for the modern era by coming back from five separate deficits in the seventh inning or later. Ramirez has found a groove at the plate after a sluggish start to the season, and over his last 14 games he's slashing .302/.343/.587 with four homers, 11 runs and 12 RBI.
Jun 9, 2023
Smacks three homers in victory
Ramirez went 3-for-5 with three home runs and five RBI in Thursday's 10-3 win over the Red Sox.
ANALYSIS
This was Ramirez's first three-homer game of his career. The third baseman is now on a three-game hit streak, and has nine long balls on the season. This display of power was good to see for fantasy managers, as the veteran hadn't gone yard since May 21 against the Mets.
Jun 1, 2023
Knocks three hits
Ramirez went 3-for-6 with two doubles, one RBI and two runs scored in Wednesday's 12-8 win over the Orioles.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez remains one of the Guardians' top hitters. He's gone 10-for-29 (.345) with four doubles and four RBI during his active six-game hitting streak. With the team around him struggling, he's taken a slight knock to his counting stats with 29 RBI and 28 runs scored this season. He's added six home runs, five stolen bases, 16 doubles, two triples and a .277/.348/.465 slash line through 52 contests. While Ramirez's .813 OPS is his lowest since 2019, he's more than capable of a strong stretch of power hitting to get him back in line with his career norms.
May 22, 2023
Homers again in nightcap
Ramirez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a 2-1 loss in Game 2 of Sunday's doubleheader versus the Mets.
ANALYSIS
The Guardians struggled against the Mets' pair of aces, Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander, in the twin bill. Ramirez was able to take the latter deep for Cleveland's lone run in the nightcap after going yard off reliever David Robertson in the day game. Ramirez has at least one extra-base hit in five of his last six contests, perhaps a sign of him coming out of his early power slump. He's slashing .280/.365/.478 with six homers, 25 RBI, five stolen bases and 25 runs scored through 43 games this season.
May 21, 2023
Launches fifth homer
Ramirez went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk during Game 1 of Sunday's doubleheader against the Mets.
ANALYSIS
The 30-year-old put Cleveland ahead 4-3 with two-run shot to center field during the eighth inning, though the lead didn't last for long. It's just the fifth homer of the season for Ramirez, whose .465 slugging percentage would be his lowest since 2016.
May 19, 2023
Returns from bereavement
Ramirez was activated from the bereavement list by the Guardians on Friday, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez missed the team's series against the White Sox but is back for the weekend set versus the Mets. He's at third base and batting third against Carlos Carrasco.
May 16, 2023
Placed on bereavement list
Ramirez was placed on the bereavement list Tuesday, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez can miss up to seven days while he tends to much more important matters. Brayan Rocchio was called up from Triple-A Columbus in a corresponding move.
May 9, 2023
Hits fourth home run of season
Ramirez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's 6-2 loss against the Tigers.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez opened the scoring by grounding into a double-play in the first inning, but he wasn't credited with an RBI. His fourth home run of the season came in the fourth and cut Detroit's lead to 4-2, but he was retired his next two times up, including in the sixth when he accounted for the game-tying run. Ramirez has hit safely in seven straight games and is currently slashing .281/.361/.452 across 35 outings (155 plate appearances). Given his standards, the third baseman is struggling in the power department to start the year, but he has more walks (18) than strikeouts (13), which suggests the power numbers will come eventually.
Apr 30, 2023
On base four times Saturday
Ramirez went 3-for-4 with a walk, an RBI and a run scored in Saturday's 8-7 extra-inning loss to the Red Sox.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez provided the game-tying RBI single in the ninth inning. The third baseman is 7-for-13 with four walks over his last four contests. That small surge has lifted his slash line to .291/.380/.485 with three home runs, 17 RBI, 14 runs scored and five steals in seven attempts through 27 contests.
Apr 29, 2023
Logs fifth steal Friday
Ramirez went 1-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base and a run scored in Friday's 5-2 win over the Red Sox.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez went 14 games without a steal after logging four thefts in his first 11 contests this season. The third baseman has a solid .273/.362/.475 slash line with three home runs, five steals, 16 RBI, 13 runs scored, nine doubles and a triple through 26 games in his usual everyday role.
Apr 26, 2023
Gets aboard four times
Ramirez went 2-for-2 with a double, two walks and a run scored in Wednesday's 4-1 win over the Rockies.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez is 5-for-16 (.313) over his last four games, and four of his hits in that span have gone for extra bases. He also drew his first walks since April 15. The third baseman is slashing a solid .271/.357/.479 with three home runs, 16 RBI, 12 runs scored and four stolen bases over 25 contests.
Apr 23, 2023
Drives in four
Ramirez went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run and four RBI in Sunday's win over the Marlins.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez gave the Guardians the lead with a two-run blast in the third inning before driving in another two runs with a sacrifice fly and an RBI double. The switch-hitting third baseman is slashing .267/.350/.477 with three home runs, 16 RBI, 11 runs scored and four stolen bases through his first 100 plate appearances this season.
Apr 19, 2023
Supplies offense in Wednesday's win
Ramirez went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Tigers.
ANALYSIS
His sixth-inning shot off Spencer Turnbull gave the Guardians their only offense on the afternoon, but it proved to be enough. It's Ramirez's second homer of the season, both of which have come in the last five games, but despite the early power outage he's batting a solid ,270 (20-for-74) with four steals, 10 runs and 12 RBI through 19 contests.
Apr 16, 2023
Ends power drought
Ramirez went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 6-4 win over the Nationals.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez put the Guardians ahead with his fifth-inning blast, and they held on the rest of the way. It took 15 games, but the third baseman finally swatted his first homer of the season. He's hit no fewer than 23 long balls in a full-length season over the last six years, so it was only a matter of time before his power returned. Ramirez has added a solid .310/.423/.500 slash line with nine RBI, eight runs scored, four stolen bases, six doubles and a triple.
Apr 11, 2023
Nabs steal as hitting streak ends
Ramirez went 0-for-4 with a stolen base in Monday's 3-2 win over the Yankees.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez's season-opening hitting streak ended at 10 games, but he was able to pick up his fourth steal in as many attempts through 11 contests. The third baseman is still looking for his first home run, but he has five extra-base hits and is slashing .273/.377/.409 through 53 plate appearances.
Apr 10, 2023
On base three times
Ramirez went 1-for-3 with a pair of walks, a stolen base, an RBI and a run scored in Sunday's extra-innings win over the Mariners.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez has recorded a hit in all 10 of the Guardians' games this season, though he has just one multi-hit effort. He's yet to hit a home run, but he's managed three steals, five RBI, six runs scored, four doubles and a triple. The third baseman continues to be a fixture in the No. 3 hole, and his .300/.408/.450 slash line through 49 plate appearances is pretty solid, though his power should rise while the average is likely to dip a bit.
Apr 4, 2023
Reaches base four times
Ramirez went 3-for-5 with a triple, two runs scored, two RBI, a steal and a walk in Monday's win against the Athletics.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez did most of his damage in the eighth inning by scoring a run after smacking an RBI triple. He later singled in a run and swiped second base in the 10th. It was his first multi-hit game of the year after tallying exactly one hit in each of the first four contests. Ramirez has gone 7-for-22 with two steals and three extra-base hits.
Apr 2, 2023
Nabs first steal
Ramirez went 1-for-4 with a stolen base Saturday in a 2-0 win over Seattle.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez has gotten off to a somewhat slow start in 2023 -- through three games, he's batted 3-for-13, though two of the hits have gone for extra bases. Fantasy managers who drafted the star third baseman early in the first round this season likely did so for his ability to steal bases, and Ramirez came through in that regard Saturday with his first theft of the campaign. He's looking for his third straight campaign of 20-plus steals, and that streak extends back to 2018 if excluding the dramatically shortened 2020 season.
Mar 16, 2023
Fine work in spring games
Ramirez is batting .364 (8-for-22) through nine Cactus League games.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez is coming off of offseason thumb surgery. The one concern from his spring numbers is a lack of power -- he has one extra-base hit, a home run. He's also logged two stolen bases. Ramirez offers one of the most enticing power-and-speed combinations in fantasy, especially since he's a third baseman. He slashed .280/.355/.514 with 29 homers, 20 steals, 126 RBI and 90 runs scored over 157 games a year ago, and it would be fair to call that a slightly down year by his standards.
Feb 18, 2023
Feeling great
Ramirez feels great following offseason thumb surgery, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez recorded a respectable .766 OPS after injuring his thumb in mid-June, but his 1.039 OPS prior to the injury demonstrates what he's capable of. It will be good to see the four-time All-Star back up his words with some strong spring performance, but it looks as though there's every reason to believe he'll be fully healthy heading into the year.
Nov 9, 2022
Undergoes thumb surgery
Ramirez (thumb) underwent thumb surgery Wednesday, Tom Withers of the Associated Press reports.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez required a procedure to repair the ulnar collateral ligament in his right thumb, undergoing the surgery Wednesday. The 30-year-old is expected to be able to return to baseball activities in 6-to-8 weeks, placing little doubt on his availability for Spring Training in February. After he saw a drop off in production while playing through the injury for the second half of the 2022 campaign, Ramirez will look to return to form in 2023 and remains a top fantasy option at third base.

Thumb surgery scheduled
Ramirez will undergo thumb surgery Wednesday, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez injured his thumb in mid-June, and while he played through the issue the rest of the way, his .766 OPS post-injury was well below his 1.039 pre-injury mark. The injury affected his power most notably, as he slugged .642 before getting hurt but slugged a merely decent .437 after the injury. He's expected to have time to fully recovered by the start of next season, so the Guardians will be hoping for a return to his early-season form.

Requires hand surgery
Ramirez is scheduled to undergo surgery on his right hand in the coming weeks after the Guardians lost to the Yankees in Game 5 of the ALDS on Tuesday, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez suffered the injury in mid-June and missed two games, but he opted to play through the issue rather than immediately go under the knife and miss a chunk of the season. The 30-year-old was putting together a potential MVP campaign with a 1.039 OPS and 16 homers in 60 games prior to the injury, and he had a .766 OPS the rest of the way while playing through the injury. Ramirez is expected to be fully recovered for spring training in February, per Mark Feinsand of MLB.com.

Ramirez went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Friday's 6-3 win over the Royals.
ANALYSIS
Every Guardian hitter had exactly one hit Friday, but Ramirez made his count the most as a three-run, go-ahead blast in the sixth inning. The third baseman struggled a bit in September, batting .229 with three homers, four steals, 16 RBI and 15 runs scored across 29 contests. He's still slashing an impressive .274/.351/.512 with 29 homers, 122 RBI, 87 runs scored and 18 steals in 153 contests overall. For the season, he's notched 18 steals in 25 attempts while adding 28 homers, 115 RBI, 84 runs scored and a .277/.356/.519 slash line through 145 games.

The third baseman has struggled a bit in September, going 12-for-47 (.255) with three extra-base hits and only five RBI. For the year, Ramirez has sustained a .282/.356/.531 slash line with 27 homers, 111 RBI, 79 runs scored and 15 stolen bases through 137 games.

Productive in Saturday's win
Ramirez went 3-for-4 with a walk, an RBI, a stolen base and two runs scored in Saturday's 6-4 win over the Twins.

Ramirez will start at third base and bat third in Wednesday's series finale, per Joe Noga of The Cleveland Plain Dealer.

The solid performance adds to a 9-for-25 stretch with four home runs across his last seven games that's upped Ramirez's season line to .285/.356/.553 with 26 home runs, 71 runs and a second-best 106 RBI.

He's struggled a bit in August, batting .242 with one home run, though he's added 14 RBI and six runs scored in 17 contests. He put the slump to rest with a three-run home run in the fourth inning after previously contributing a sacrifice fly in the third. The third baseman's recent cold stretch hasn't done much damage to his season stats -- he's slashing .285/.355/.551 with 22 homers, 92 RBI, 63 runs scored and 14 stolen bases through 108 contests.

Swats solo homer
Ramirez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's loss to the Red Sox.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez produced the first run of the game with his solo shot to right field in the fourth inning, but Cleveland wasn't able to muster much additional offense. The long ball was the 20th of the season for the All-Star third baseman, and he has now reached that mark in five of his past six campaigns, with the exception being the shortened 2020 season. Ramirez is on pace for the fourth 20/20 campaign of his career.

Ramirez went 2-for-5 with two home runs, two runs and five RBI in a 10-0 win against the Tigers on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez opened the scoring with a three-run shot off Michael Pineda in the first inning and tagged Pineda again for a two-run home run during his next at-bat in the second. The pair of long balls matches the 29-year-old's total from his last 33 games and as his slugging dropped nearly 100 points from .647 to .558 during the dry spell. The successful performance increased his season line to .288/.368/.576, with his slugging and OPS both ranking among the 10 best in MLB.

Swipes 13th base
Ramirez went 1-for-4 with a stolen base Sunday in a 5-1 loss in Kansas City.
ANALYSIS

While the veteran has an impressive 38:34 BB:K, he has struck out more recently, fanning 11 times and walking just three times in his last 10 games. With 13 stolen bases and 17 homers, he has a chance to record his second career 30-30 season.
Jul 9, 2022
Crushes three hits, homer
Ramirez went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, two runs and three RBI in a 13-1 win against the Royals on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez was the driving force behind Cleveland's resounding victory with an RBI single in the first inning, two-run home run in the second and double in the fourth. The 29-year-old had been struggling through his first seven games of July with a .160/.222/.280 line and the long ball was his first since June 10. Through 79 games, Ramirez is slashing .291/.372/.585 with 17 home runs, 50 runs and 66 RBI.
Jul 3, 2022
On bench Sunday
Ramirez is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Yankees.
ANALYSIS
This looks like nothing more than a rest day for Ramirez after he started both games of Saturday's doubleheader. Gabriel Arias slots in at third base and as the No. 3 hitter against lefty Jordan Montgomery. Ramirez has uncharacteristically struck out six times in his last three games, so he could probably use the day off to sit back and observe.
Jun 26, 2022
Two doubles in loss
Ramirez went 3-for-4 with two doubles and a run scored in Sunday's 8-3 loss to the Red Sox.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez hadn't posted a multi-hit effort since June 15 -- the seven-game stretch without such a performance was his second-longest of the year. Despite the third baseman's good game, his teammates couldn't provide enough offense to make the contest competitive. Ramirez is slashing .303/.388/.618 with 16 home runs, 63 RBI, 45 runs scored, 12 stolen bases, 23 doubles and four triples in 66 games overall.

Jun 21, 2022
Back in action Tuesday
Ramirez (thumb) will start at third base and bat third in Tuesday's game in Minnesota.
ANALYSIS
According to Paul Hoynes of The Cleveland Plain Dealer, Ramirez wasn't on the field for the Guardians' early batting practice session, but the veteran must have put in enough work behind the scenes for the coaching and training staffs to clear him to rejoin the lineup. Ramirez's return from a two-game absence due to a sore right thumb is a major boon for a Guardians squad that enters Tuesday's series opener trailing the Twins by just one game in the American League Central standings.
Jun 19, 2022
Remains on bench Sunday
Ramirez (thumb) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez was withheld from Saturday's starting nine due to soreness in his right thumb, and he'll be out of the lineup for a second consecutive game Sunday. The Guardians have a scheduled day off Monday, so the 30-year-old will have an extra day to recover ahead of Tuesday's series opener in Minnesota. Ernie Clement will man the hot corner in place of Ramirez.
Jun 18, 2022
Battling sore thumb
Ramirez's absence from the lineup for Saturday's game against the Dodgers is due to right thumb soreness, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez reportedly originally jammed his thumb approximately 10 days ago, and the issue got worse on a swing Friday. He won't be available Saturday but will be checked out Sunday, though the Guardians have an off day Monday and could elect to keep him on the bench for Sunday's series finale in order to secure three consecutive days of rest for their star hitter.
Jun 18, 2022
Not starting Saturday
Ramirez isn't starting Saturday's game against the Dodgers.
ANALYSIS

During that time, he's hit .432 with two homers, eight doubles, nine RBI, eight runs and three stolen bases. Ernie Clement is starting at the hot corner and batting seventh.
Jun 16, 2022

ANALYSIS
Ramirez is now 14-for-29 (.483) during his seven-game hitting streak. In that span, he's added two home runs, three stolen bases, nine RBI and seven runs scored. The third baseman is contributing across the board, but this recent surge has put his batting average over .300 for the first time since May 13. He's slashing .307/.402/.651 with 16 homers, 62 RBI, 41 runs scored, 11 steals, four triples and 19 doubles through 254 plate appearances overall.

Overall, the star third baseman has a .280/.386/.608 slash line with 14 homers, 53 RBI, 33 runs scored, four triples and 12 doubles in 51 contests. It's safe to assume his current mini-slump at the plate won't last much longer.

The star third baseman is now slashing .287/.380/.588 with nine home runs, 20 extra-base hits and 37 RBI. However, he's hit just two homers with a .211 average through 15 contests in May.
May 20, 2022
In Friday's lineup
Ramirez (lower leg) is in the lineup for Friday's game against the Tigers, batting third and playing third base.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez was pulled from Thursday's game against the Reds after fouling the ball off his right shin, but the injury apparently won't cost him any games. That's great news for the Guardians, as Ramirez is hitting a typically excellent .280/.377/.553 on the year.
May 19, 2022
Getting leg checked out
Ramirez will receive an MRI after he was removed in the eighth inning of Thursday's 4-2 loss to the Reds when he fouled a ball off his right shin, Tom Withers of the Associated Press reports.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez initially stayed in the game and completed the plate appearance with an RBI single for his lone hit on the day, but Ernie Clement came off the bench to pinch run for him and then replaced him in the field in the top of the ninth. The MRI may just be out of an abundance of precaution, but Ramirez's fantasy managers will nonetheless want to keep an eye on his status heading into the Guardians' three-game weekend series with the Tigers.
May 16, 2022
Blasts eighth homer

On base thrice, swipes bag
Ramirez went 1-for-3 with two walks, a run and a stolen base in a 7-3 victory over the Athletics on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez reached base in each of his first three plate appearances, walking in the first and third innings and singling in the fourth. The theft was his first of the season as the 29-year-old has been less active on the bases due to a scorching start at the dish, evidenced by a .341/.421/.707 slash line through 22 games. Ramirez's career average of 25 steals per 162 games is a better indicator of his capabilities, though it's a real possibility that he's slowing down with age.

Agrees to $124 million extension
Ramirez and the Guardians agreed to terms Thursday on a five-year, $124 million contract extension, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports. The deal includes a full no-trade clause.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez will still be paid $11 million in 2022 and will automatically have his existing $13 million team option for 2023 picked up as part of the extension, which won't go into effect until the 2024 season. Though Ramirez may not be able to justify a nearly $25 million salary in his age-36 season during the final year of the deal, he's already more than overdelivered on the five-year, $26 million extension he signed with Cleveland in March 2017. In the five seasons since that deal, Ramirez has produced a collective 139 wRC+ while playing 150-plus games in three of those four years, not counting the pandemic-shortened 2020 campaign. Though he now looks to be part of a Cleveland club teetering toward a rebuild, Ramirez still had a compelling case for a top-five selection during fantasy drafts earlier this spring after he finished the 2021 season with a .266 average, 36 home runs, 27 steals, 111 runs and 103 RBI.
Mar 31, 2022
Slow progress on extension talks
Ramirez and the Guardians have made little progress on negotiating a long-term contract extension, Paul Hoynes of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez's option was exercised by Cleveland in November, so he'll earn $12 million for this season. There's one more option on his current contract, but both sides would great benefit by locking in a strong five-tool player long-term. Ramirez hit .266/.355/.538 with 36 home runs, 103 RBI, 111 runs scored and 27 stolen bases in 152 games last season, and he enters 2022 as the everyday third baseman as he has for the last six years. He figures to be a bright spot in the heart of the lineup even if the Guardians struggle again this season.
Nov 4, 2021
Option picked up for 2022
Cleveland exercised Ramirez's $12 million team option for 2022 on Thursday, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports.
ANALYSIS
The five-year, $26 million contract extension Ramirez signed in March 2017 includes options of $12 million for 2022 and $14 million for 2023, making it one of the more club-friendly deals in baseball history. Ramirez has already turned in 28.0 WAR over the first five years of the contract, and he continued to dazzle even in the midst of a rebuilding year for Cleveland in 2021. He finished with a .266/.355/.538 slash line, 36 home runs, 111 runs, 103 RBI and 27 stolen bases across 152 games, with his combination of on-base skills, power, speed and durability making him a major value for those who grabbed him in the first or second round of drafts. He'll likely be a consensus first-round choice in 2022 drafts as he enters his age-29 season.

He'll likely remain in his usual No. 3 spot in the order, as he's started in 27 straight games -- the elbow soreness that bothered him in late July seems to be behind him now.

Getting Thursday off
Ramirez is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Blue Jays.
ANALYSIS
Ernie Clement will fill in at third base for Ramirez, who looks to be getting a maintenance day after staring each of Cleveland's last 11 games. Shortly before manager Terry Francona announced in late July that he was leaving the team to focus on his health, he mentioned that Ramirez could be subject to more frequent days off in the second half of the season while the 28-year-old manages a lingering elbow issue. Ramirez isn't expected to be shut down for the injury, but it wouldn't be surprising if he received one day off a week by the time September rolls around, especially with little at stake for a Cleveland team that currently finds itself out of the American League playoff picture.

Out of Sunday's lineup
Ramirez is not in the lineup Sunday against the Rays.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez started the past three games after missing a couple contests while managing elbow soreness, and he'll receive the day off Sunday. It's not a surprise to see the 28-year-old back on the bench, as manager Terry Francona indicated the third baseman is expected to require more maintenance days during the second half to help deal with the issue. ANALYSIS
Ramirez's hitless skid ran to 0-for-11, but he was able to draw a pair of walks that ultimately helped him salvage some productivity. He's slashing .252/.342/.500 with 19 home runs, 52 RBI, 63 runs scored and 10 stolen bases through 357 plate appearances. Ramirez will likely continue to play through his injury, but expect manager Terry Francona to take a cautious approach with the 28-year-old until he's back to full health.

Rejoins lineup
Ramirez (elbow) will start at third base and bat third Thursday against the Rays.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez will check back into the starting nine after Cleveland elected to keep him on the bench for Wednesday's 5-4 win over the Astros due to a sore left elbow. While Cleveland isn't expected to shut Ramirez down as a result of the injury, manager Terry Francona suggested the veteran could get more frequent maintenance days in the second half as the club looks to preserve his health for the balance of the season. Ramirez has been one of the few bright spots this season in an otherwise lackluster Cleveland lineup, batting .254 with 19 home runs and nine stolen bases on the season.

May require periodic rest
Manager Terry Francona said Ramirez has not fully recovered from his left elbow soreness and will get occasional days off in the coming weeks, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Cleveland's skipper explained that Ramirez's elbow flares up if the slugger overextends on a swing. The team will certainly exercise caution when dealing with the health of its best hitter, so future days off for Ramirez should be considered normal, barring any other indication.

There's been no indication that it's anything but a regular day off for Ramirez, who will be heading to Denver for the All-Star game Tuesday. The 28-year-old homered in a 2-for-4, three-run performance Saturday, snapping out of a four-game hitless streak and improving his average to .208 in seven July contests. Ernie Clement is playing third base and batting ninth in Sunday's series finale.

ANALYSIS
Ramirez returned to Cleveland's lineup after missing a few games with an elbow issue and didn't skip a beat. He hadn't stolen a base since swiping a pair on May 19 and is now up to eight on the year. The 28-year-old infielder is 8-for-20 (.400) with seven runs scored and five extra-base hits over his last six appearances. Ramirez improved his slash line to .268/.349/.536.

Still sidelined with elbow soreness
Ramirez (elbow) is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros.
ANALYSIS
The team has provided no further update regarding Ramirez and his left elbow, so he should still be considered day-to-day at this time. Until Ramirez is good to go, Ernie Clement figures to continue starting at third base for Cleveland, which doesn't have a day off until the All-Star break.

Returns to lineup
Ramirez (face) is starting Thursday's game against the Astros.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez fouled a pitch off his cheek in Wednesday's matinee and had his face evaluated at the hospital following his departure. However, he apparently isn't dealing with a serious injury, as he'll start at the hot corner and bat third in Thursday's series opener.

Getting looked at by doctors
Ramirez won't start Game 2 of Wednesday's doubleheader against Detroit and will go to the hospital to have his face evaluated, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports. Manager Terry Francona said that Ramirez is expected to be "fine" after fouling a pitch off his face during Game 1 of the twin bill.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez was initially able to remain in the game after he fouled a pitch off his cheek in the fifth inning. He was later replaced by Owen Miller in the top of the seventh, but it sounds like that was mainly a precautionary move with Cleveland trailing 7-4. Ramirez won't start Game 2 as he gets evaluated by doctors, but based on Francona's initial update, he doesn't appear likely to face an extended absence.

Leads offense with five RBI
Ramirez went 3-for-5 with a three-run homer, a double, five RBI and two runs scored in Monday's 13-5 win over the Tigers.
ANALYSIS
Ramirez had a season-high five RBI in Monday's beatdown over the Tigers. He brought a run home in the first on an RBI groundout and had his biggest hit of the night in the fourth when he connected on a first-pitch fastball and sent it over the wall in right for a three-run homer. The 28-year-old then doubled and scored in the sixth and singled home a run in the seventh. Ramirez is slashing .264/.347/.528 with 17 homers, 49 RBI, 52 runs scored, six stolen bases and a 31:38 BB:K over 303 plate appearances. His averages are all down from 2020 and his OPS is more than 100 points off last year's, but he still is producing solid numbers and remains on of the top players in the American League and one of the top third basemen in baseball.
