That said, he's almost certain to see his rostership creep up in fantasy -- especially in deeper leagues -- after his second straight excellent start.

Freeland limited the damage to just one run on eight hits and a walk. He tossed 63 of 92 pitches for strikes across 5.2 frames. The only score he allowed was a solo shot to Spencer Steer in the fifth before he was pulled. Freeland has had an up-and-down season, with 10 games of four or more earned runs and 12 games of two or fewer earned runs. That has resulted in a 4.75 ERA for the lefty to go along with a 1.41 WHIP and a 7-9 record.

The Rockies rallied ahead in the bottom of the sixth inning to put the southpaw in line for the win, and the bullpen preserved the two-run advantage. This was his second straight quality start and win, and he's turned in eight quality starts this year. For the season, Freeland owns a 4.63 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 82:33 K:BB across 114.2 innings in 20 starts. His next appearance is tentatively scheduled to be a road start in San Diego next week.

The Rockies will likely send Freeland in for further tests Wednesday to determine the severity of his groin strain along with a projected timeline for his return. Colorado will first require a replacement in the rotation for Freeland on Sunday in St. Louis.

Freeland was pulled with one out in the sixth inning and appeared to be limping when he was looked at by the athletic trainer. He gave up five runs (three earned) on five hits with two walks and two strikeouts prior to leaving the contest.
