For the season, he's at a .267/.304/.535 slash line with six homer, 16 RBI, seven runs scored and two stolen bases over 30 contests.

Entering as a pinch-runner in the second inning for an injured Nolan Gorman, Palacios took advantage of the opportunity, blasting a pair of solo home runs. After going deep just once in his first 150 career at-bats, the 26-year-old outfielder launched homers in back-to-back plate appearances Tuesday. In limited action since getting promoted from the minors Aug. 16, Palacios has posted a slash line of .317/.349/.585 with two doubles, three home runs, eight RBI and one steal across 16 games.

Palacios is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Padres.

Palacios will hit the bench after he started in center field six of the previous eight games while going 6-for-21 with a home run and five RBI over that stretch. Tommy Edman will patrol center field Monday, but both he and Palacios could see their opportunities in the outfield become more limited in the near future, as Lars Nootbaar (groin) could be a candidate to return from the 10-day injured list as soon as later this week.

Palacios has seen regular playing time in center field over the last week, and he's made the most of it, going 7-for-18 with three extra-base hits and six RBI through seven games. The rookie outfielder was recalled from Triple-A Memphis on Aug. 17 after slashing .297/.315/.456 over 40 games following a trade from the Cleveland organization, where he held a .217/.348/.313 slash line over 56 contests with Triple-A Columbus this year. Palacios' hot bat has kept him in the lineup, but the impending returns of Nolan Gorman (back) and Lars Nootbaar (abdomen) could cause enough of a lineup shuffle to send him to the bench in the near future.

St. Louis recalled Palacios from Triple-A Memphis on Thursday.

Palacios was acquired from the Guardians two months ago in exchange for cash considerations and had since registered an .876 OPS with five homers and three steals in 40 games with Memphis. The 25-year-old will step in as the Cardinals' fourth outfielder with Dylan Carlson (ankle/oblique) needing at least a couple more weeks of rest and rehab.

Palacios has yet to appear in a major-league contest this season, posting a .217 average with three homers, 28 RBI, 41 runs and six stolen bases over 217 at-bats in 56 games with Triple-A Columbus.

Cleveland designated Palacios for assignment Sunday, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.

Palacios is now off the 40-man roster, and Cleveland needed the room for Cody Morris after Morris was reinstated off the 60-day injured list. In 217 at-bats with Triple-A Columbus, Palacios has hit .217 with a .669 OPS, and the 26-year-old will now be subject to the waiver wire with a chance to return to the Guardians' organization if he goes unclaimed or isn't dealt.

Palacios was optioned to Triple-A Columbus on Saturday, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.

Palacios didn't make a strong case for a bench spot this spring, posting a .618 OPS. His .232/.293/.286 line in his 54-game debut last year didn't make a compelling argument either, but he hit .279/.371/.458 at the Triple-A level and doesn't have much left to prove there.

Palacios has gone 3-for-6 with a walk and a run scored over three Cactus League games.

Palacios will be away from the Guardians while representing the Netherlands at the World Baseball Classic. A strong showing in the international event could help his case as a potential fourth outfielder this season, though he'll likely have to battle with Will Brennan for that spot. Palacios is best suited to left field, but with Steven Kwan in that position for now, Palacios may need to add more versatility to get a longer look in the majors.

The Guardians optioned Palacios to Triple-A Columbus on Wednesday.

Cleveland will swap Palacios off the 28-man active roster for another rookie outfielder in Will Brennan, whose contract was selected from Triple-A. Palacios had started just once in the Guardians' last 12 games, so he'll get the chance to pick up regular at-bats at Columbus before the International League season wraps up.

He's slashing .241/.303/.296 with two steals, 10 RBI, seven runs scored and six doubles through 119 plate appearances.

The lefty-hitting Palacios is projected to see an uptick in playing time after everyday right fielder Oscar Gonzalez (abdomen) was moved to the injured list Saturday, but Palacios will take a seat for the series finale with southpaw Jordan Montgomery on the hill for New York. The righty-hitting Ernie Clement will instead start alongside Myles Straw and Steven Kwan in the Guardians outfield. Clement and Palacios could end up forming a platoon while Gonzalez is out, with Clement set to benefit from the larger share of starting chances as the left-handed hitter.

Palacios is hitting .188 (6-for-32) with four walks since the start of June.

With Oscar Gonzalez (abdomen) on the injured list, it wouldn't be surprising to see Palacios pick up a little more playing time in the short term. He's started two of the last three games, but he'll need to hit to keep himself in the mix in the corner outfield. Palacios' primary competitor for starts is likely to be Ernie Clement. Palacios is slashing .253/.313/.320 with no home runs, a stolen base, 10 RBI and five runs scored through 82 plate appearances.

Palacios has started just four of 13 games in June.

While he occasionally comes off the bench, he's gone just 4-for-15 (.267) with two doubles, four RBI and a run scored in eight games in June. The 25-year-old outfielder has simply been crowded out of the regular mix, as Myles Straw and Oscar Gonzalez have grabbed everyday roles while Steven Kwan and Oscar Mercado have functioned as a platoon in left field. Palacios' playing time is likely to be limited to the odd start versus right-handed pitchers -- he's yet to start against a southpaw all season.

Monday's contest was Palacios' big-league debut -- he filled in for fellow rookie Steven Kwan (hamstring) in left field. The Guardians ran into a stingy performance from Michael Lorenzen and the Angels' bullpen, with Palacios the only batter to rack up multiple hits for the visitors. The 24-year-old should get a chance to play at least semi-regularly as long as he's in the majors, though he may be limited to hitting in the bottom half of the order.

Palacios was called up from Triple-A Columbus and is starting in left field Monday against the Angels.

Palacios has a .749 OPS through 14 games with Columbus this season and will make his way to the big-league club after missing out on the Opening Day roster. Steven Kwan exited Sunday's game with a hamstring injury and is out of the lineup Monday, and playing time could be available for Palacios until Kwan is able to return.

Palacios joined Cleveland's 40-man roster in November but was unable to make the Opening Day roster. He finished 2021 at Triple-A Columbus and hi .289/.431/.412 in 37 games and could make his major-league debut this season.
