Sent back to minors
Marinaccio was optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Marinaccio tossed a scoreless innings against the Brewers on Saturday but needed 32 pitches to do so. The Yankees will announce a corresponding move prior to Sunday's contest, and it seems likely to be a reliever.

Recalled from Triple-A
Marinaccio was called up by the Yankees on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Marinaccio owns a 4.08 ERA in 46.1 major-league innings this season, with a 27.6 percent strikeout rate more or less cancelling out an inflated 12.6 percent walk rate. He'll give the Yankees an extra bullpen option, taking the roster spot which had belonged to Luis Severino, who landed on the injured list with a side injury.

Sent to Triple-A
Marinaccio was optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Monday.
ANALYSIS
Marinaccio came into the year looking to build on a breakout 2022 campaign, but he has given up eight earned runs on eight hits and five walks over his last eight appearances (7.1 innings), so he will get a reset at Triple-A. Jhony Brito was recalled to take Marinaccio's place in the bullpen.

Notches second save
Marinaccio gave up a hit and a walk while striking out two in a scoreless ninth inning Saturday, recording his second save of the season in a 1-0 win over the Rangers.
ANALYSIS
Clay Holmes got the final two outs of the eighth inning after Wandy Peralta had created a bit of a mess, and with Michael King struggling of late, Marinaccio was summoned in the ninth instead to close things out. The second-year righty has earned his spot in the Yankees' high-leverage crew by not allowing an earned run in nearly a month, and over his last 12 appearances, Marinaccio has a 1.32 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 17:6 K:BB through 13.2 innings.

Secures first save
Marinaccio picked up the save with a clean inning Thursday against the Blue Jays.
ANALYSIS
Marinaccio needed just seven pitches to retire the Blue Jays in the ninth inning and pick up his first save of the season. The Yankees closer role is up for grabs as six different players have converted a save. Wandy Peralta gave up a walk-off homer Wednesday. Michael King converted a save earlier this week, but threw 21 pitches Wednesday. Clay Holmes pitched in each of the previous two games. The more rested Marinaccio got the call and delivered. Marinaccio has a 4.74 ERA and 1.26 WHIP and would presumably not get regular save opportunities.

Making spring debut Thursday
Marinaccio (shin) will make his Grapefruit League debut Thursday against the Red Sox, Erik Boland of Newsday reports.
ANALYSIS
The Yankees are bringing along Marinaccio slowly this spring, as Boland notes, as he's coming off a stress reaction in his right shin that caused him to miss the end of the 2022 season as well as the postseason. The right-hander was one of the team's best relievers when healthy with a 2.05 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 56 strikeouts over 44 innings of work. Assuming good health, he'll pitch in the middle innings for New York again in 2023.

Faces live hitters
Marinaccio (shin) faced live hitters on Tuesday, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Marinaccio was able to strike out Aaron Judge during the session. The right-hander was very effective in 2022 with a 2.05 ERA in his 40 relief appearances with the Yankees, but missed the postseason because of a stress reaction in his right shin. He's expected to be ready for Opening Day, and should be a high-leverage option for the Yankees in 2023.
Feb 16, 2023
Facing hitters Tuesday
Marinaccio (shin) will face hitters Tuesday and believes he's on track to be ready for Opening Day, Greg Joyce of the New York Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Marinaccio was unavailable for the playoffs last season because of a stress reaction in his right shin. He's being eased into things this spring but it sounds like he should be fine for Opening Day, barring setbacks. The right-hander posted a 2.05 ERA over 40 relief appearances for the Yankees in 2022.

Not brought back for ALCS
The Yankees didn't activate Marinaccio (lower leg) from the 15-day injured list Wednesday ahead of Game 1 of the team's American League Championship Series with the Astros.
ANALYSIS
Though Marinaccio has resumed throwing bullpen sessions and facing hitters, the Yankees apparently didn't see enough progress from the rookie reliever to justify adding him to the ALCS roster. Marinaccio has been on the shelf since Oct. 2 due to a stress reaction of his right shin.
Oct 14, 2022
Could return for ALCS
Marinaccio (lower leg) is expected to return if the Yankees advance to the ALCS, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Marinaccio has pitched a bullpen session and is now travelling to Tampa Bay to face live batting practice. The reliever posted an impressive 2.05 ERA and 1.05 WHIP with 56 punchouts over 44 innings in 40 appearances in the regular season and could provide a boost to New York's bullpen if the team is able to advance to the next round of the playoffs.
Oct 4, 2022
Lands on injured list
Marinaccio was placed on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with a stress reaction in his right shin.
ANALYSIS
Marinaccio has had a strong rookie season, posting a 2.05 ERA and a 30.9 percent strikeout rate in 44 innings of work. The injury means he'll end the season with those numbers and will remain unavailable for the ALDS, but it's possible he returns for the ALCS should the Yankees get that far.
Oct 2, 2022
Departs with shin soreness
Marinaccio was removed from Sunday's game against the Orioles due to shin soreness, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Marinaccio didn't allow any baserunners while recording three outings between the seventh and eighth innings, but he was dealing with a shin injury that prompted his removal with one out in the top of the eighth inning. Manager Aaron Boone didn't sound too concerned about the issue after the game, so Marinaccio should be considered day-to-day for now.
Aug 17, 2022
Recalled by Yankees
Marinaccio was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday, Jack Curry of YES Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Marinaccio spent a week and a half in the minors but will rejoin the big-league club after Clay Holmes (back) was placed on the 15-day injured list Wednesday. Marinaccio has made six appearances in the majors since the All-Star break and has posted a 1.23 ERA and 0.82 WHIP in 7.1 innings.

Sent down Saturday
Marinaccio was optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Marinaccio allowed just one earned run and struck out 26 batters over his last 22.2 innings, but he will be the pitcher who cedes his roster spot to trade deadline acquisition Frankie Montas. Given his success, Marinaccio will likely be the top option the next time the Yankees need to bring up a reliever from the minors.
Jul 24, 2022
Reinstated from IL
Marinaccio (shoulder) was reinstated from the 15-day injured list Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Marinaccio will return to the Yankees' bullpen after missing three weeks while nursing right shoulder inflammation. The right-hander pitched two innings on his rehab assignment with Double-A Somerset and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, surrendering a solo home run while striking out five batters. Marinaccio will look to build off the 2.33 ERA and 0.88 WHIP with 23 punchouts that he produced over 19.1 innings in 17 appearances this season before getting hurt.
Jul 22, 2022
Rehab transferred to Double-A
Marinaccio's rehab assignment was transferred from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to Double-A Somerset on Friday.
ANALYSIS
The move is likely based on geography, as Somerset plays at home this weekend while SWB is on the road in Lehigh Valley. Marinaccio logged one inning in an appearance Friday, striking out the side on 17 pitches, and he has struck out five batters in two rehab innings thus far. Per sdfaf, the righty reliever could rejoin the Yankees as soon as Sunday.
Jul 17, 2022
Starting rehab assignment Sunday
Marinaccio (shoulder) is set to commence his rehab assignment with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barres on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Marinaccio has been out since July 2 while dealing with right shoulder inflammation, but it appears possible that he will return to the team following the All-Star break after he starts his rehab assignment Sunday. The right-hander owns a 2.33 ERA and 0.88 WHIP with 23 strikeouts over 19.1 innings in his first 17 career appearances this season.
Jul 12, 2022
Set for side session
Marinaccio (shoulder) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Tuesday, Kristie Ackert of the New York Daily News reports.
ANALYSIS
Marinaccio will advance to mound work after his inflamed right shoulder responded well to long toss. The rookie reliever noted that his time on the 15-day injured list has allowed him to adjust some flaws in his mechanics, so he's hopeful that he'll remain effective upon returning from the shelf, likely at some point after the All-Star break. Marinaccio produced a 2.33 ERA and 0.88 WHIP in 19.1 innings before landing on the IL on July 2.
Jul 5, 2022
Could start throwing by weekend
Marinaccio (shoulder) is currently shut down from throwing but could begin tossing lightly this weekend, Randy Miller of NJ Advance Media reports.
ANALYSIS
Marinaccio was placed on the injured list Saturday, so it's not surprising that he's currently not throwing. The fact that he could resume tossing a baseball this weekend suggests that he may not be facing an extended absence. Yankees manager Aaron Boone seemed to suggest that scenario Sunday, stating, "Ronnie's obviously a younger guy and going through the grind of the major-league season for the first time. Instead of just kind of pushing through this right now and maybe have it be a lingering issue, it's best to give him a few days and try to keep him as strong and fresh as possible."
Jul 2, 2022
Heading to injured list
Marinaccio will be placed on the 15-day injured list with shoulder inflammation, Erik Boland of Newsday reports.
ANALYSIS
Manager Aaron Boone described the issue as "dead arm" earlier Saturday. The diagnosis has changed, but either way, Marinaccio's excellent rookie season will be put on hold for at least a couple weeks. Marinaccio threw a scoreless inning in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader and now has a 2.33 ERA and 0.88 WHIP in his first 17 MLB appearances.
Jul 2, 2022
Experiencing dead arm
Manager Aaron Boone said Saturday that Marinaccio has been experiencing dead arm recently, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Marinaccio tossed a perfect relief inning during the first game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Guardians but is apparently dealing with an arm injury afterward. It's not yet clear when he'll be able to return to the mound or whether the issue will force him to spend time on the IL.
Jun 29, 2022
Continues strong campaign
Marinaccio earned a hold against the Athletics on Monday, striking out the only batter he faced.
ANALYSIS
The right-hander was called upon in the sixth inning to face Ramon Laureano, who represented the potential tying run. Marinaccio struck out Laureano on four pitches to preserve New York's 2-0 lead. The rookie reliever has pitched mostly in lower-leverage situations, but he has been very effective, registering a 2.60 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 21:9 K:BB over 17.1 innings.
Jun 11, 2022
Claims first big-league victory
Marinaccio (1-0) earned the win over the Cubs on Friday, pitching a scoreless inning during which he allowed one walk and struck out one batter.
ANALYSIS
Runs were tough to come by for both teams in the contest -- so much so that neither the Yankees nor the Cubs were able to score through three extra frames despite starting off each of those innings with a designated runner. Marinaccio was responsible for fending off Chicago in top of the 13th, and he did so successfully by retiring three straight batters after issuing a walk to begin the inning. The rookie right-hander was then credited with his first win in the majors when the Yankees walked off with a victory in the bottom of the frame. Marinaccio also has one hold this season, but he has been used primarily in low-leverage situations.
Jun 8, 2022
Fans three in relief
Marinaccio pitched two scoreless innings against Minnesota on Tuesday, allowing one hit and striking out three.
ANALYSIS
Marinaccio entered in the eighth inning with New York ahead by four runs. The right-hander kept the Twins from mounting any sort of a comeback, allowing just two baserunners on a single and hit-by-pitch. Marinaccio encountered some struggles near the end of April, but since returning to the majors May 21 he has pitched 5.1 scoreless frames while notching an 8:2 K:BB.
May 21, 2022
Recalled by Yankees
Marinaccio was recalled by the Yankees on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
The right-hander spent a week and a half in the minors after being sent down May 11, but he'll provide additional bullpen depth after Chad Green (elbow) was placed on the 15-day injured list Saturday. Marinaccio has made four relief appearances for the Yankees this year and has allowed five runs in four innings.
May 11, 2022
Back to farm
The Yankees optioned Marinaccio to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre following Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Blue Jays.
ANALYSIS
Marinaccio didn't see any usage out of the bullpen following his call-up from Triple-A on Sunday. The Yankees haven't announced an immediate replacement for Marinaccio on the 26-man active roster, but the team now has an opening to bring aboard Luis Gil from Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in advance of his scheduled spot start Thursday against the White Sox.
May 8, 2022
Called up from Triple-A
The Yankees recalled Marinaccio from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
He'll join the 26-man active roster as a replacement for outfielder Tim Locastro (back), who was placed on the 10-day injured list Sunday. After surprisingly winning a spot in the Yankees' Opening Day bullpen, Marinaccio gave up five earned runs on six hits and two walks while striking out six in four innings over his four relief appearances before he was optioned to Triple-A on April 28.
Apr 28, 2022
Optioned to Triple-A
Marinaccio was optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Marinaccio tossed 2.1 scoreless innings during his first two appearances of the season, but he allowed five runs in 1.2 innings during his last two outings. The right-hander posted a 2.03 ERA and 0.93 WHIP in 66.1 minor-league relief innings last year and will attempt to turn things around at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Apr 6, 2022
Gets spot on Opening Day roster
Marinaccio will make the Yankees' Opening Day roster according to manager Aaron Boone, Greg Joyce of the New York Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Boone previously indicated that Marinaccio was likely to break camp with the club, and that appears to be the case given Boone's statement Tuesday. The 26-year-old's first appearance with the Yankees during the regular season will mark his big-league debut. Marinaccio pitched 4.2 innings for New York this spring, giving up five unearned runs and registering a 4:2 K:BB.
Apr 5, 2022
Likely to break camp with Yankees
Yankees manager Aaron Boone indicated Monday that Marinaccio has an "excellent shot" of making the Opening Day roster, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Marinaccio has given up five runs over 4.2 innings this spring, but none of those runs have been earned. He has allowed only three hits while posting a 4:2 K:BB. The right-hander registered a 2.36 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 41:8 K:BB across 26.2 innings at the Triple-A level last season.
