Kwan went 2-for-4 with a double, a walk and a stolen base in Friday's 7-5 win over the Tigers.

Kwan had gone just 1-for-17 over his last four games before breaking out of the short slump. The steal was his fifth of the month and 21st of the year, two more than he had last season. Kwan has hit .271 with a .718 OPS, five home runs, 54 RBI, 93 runs scored, 36 doubles and seven triples over 156 contests as the Guardians' near-everyday leadoff hitter in his second big-league season.

Kwan is out of the lineup Wednesday versus the Royals.

Kwan has started in every game since Aug. 26, so this will be a rare appearance on the bench. In the 22 games since then, the outfielder has slashed .303/.396/.393.

Kwan went 2-for-2 with three walks, a double, a triple, a run scored and two RBI in Tuesday's 7-6 loss to the Royals.

It was a huge night from the leadoff spot for Kwan, who is having a blistering finish to the season even as the Guardians fade out of the playoff picture. Over his last 20 games, the 26-year-old is slashing .329/.427/.418 with four steals, 10 RBI and 12 runs, and Kwan has reached base multiple times in five of the last six contests.

Kwan drew a walk to open the contest before coming around to score on a Jose Ramirez home run in the next at-bat. He would come home a second time in the very next inning after reaching via single and stealing second. The left fielder finished with two hits in the contest, marking his fourth multi-hit performance this month and he's now hit safely in three of his last four games. Kwan has also swiped four bags already in September after stealing a combined three bases over the previous two months.

Kwan was on the front end of a double steal with Jose Ramirez in the fifth inning. This was Kwan's third steal in September and his 19th of the season, matching his total as a rookie from last season. He's added five home runs, 49 RBI, 84 runs scored, 32 doubles and six triples through 141 contests.

Kwan also struck out two times in the contest. That's a rare misstep for the well-disciplined leadoff hitter -- he has done that just 10 times all year while posting a 10.6 strikeout rate and 8.7 walk rate. The steal was his first since Aug. 4, and Kwan hit a decent .258 over 22 contests between thefts. For the season, he's at a .271/.337/.378 slash line with five home runs, 17 steals, 45 RBI and 78 runs scored through 132 contests.

Kwan did a good job of setting the table atop the order, but the Guardians couldn't bring him home in this contest. He's produced six multi-hit efforts over his last 16 games, going 19-for-67 (.284) in that span. It's a little better than his .270/.337/.376 slash line through 130 contests this season. Kwan has added five home runs, 16 stolen bases, 44 RBI and 78 runs scored as the Guardians' primary leadoff hitter.

Kwan is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Tigers.

Kwan will not start in his second game within eight days. This comes after he started every game from June 2 through Aug 9. Brayan Rocchio will start at third base with Andres Gimenez being elevated to the leadoff spot.

Kwan has logged multiple hits in six of his last 13 games, batting .364 over that span. He's even tallied seven extra-base hits in that span, no small feat for a contact hitter. The Guardians' leadoff man is slashing .276/.347/.378 with four home runs, 15 stolen bases, 36 RBI and 69 runs scored through 104 contests.

Kwan went 4-for-5 with a solo home run and an additional RBI in Sunday's 8-5 extra-inning loss to the Phillies.

Kwan started the scoring with a leadoff homer in the first inning, and he continued to make an impact from there. He also had an RBI single in the 10th, though the Guardians' rally stalled out. The outfielder is batting .385 (15-for-39) since the All-Star break, and he's hit two of his four homers this season over that nine-game span. For the season, he's slashing .275/.346/.378 with 15 stolen bases, 34 RBI and 67 runs scored over 98 contests as Cleveland's primary leadoff hitter.

Kwan's five-game hitting streak came to an end, but he was able to pick up his second steal of the month. The outfielder has gotten back to his reputation as a contact hitter in July, batting .311 with a 5:3 BB:K over 15 contests this month. For the season, he's slashing .269/.343/.366 with 15 steals, three home runs, 31 RBI and 65 runs scored over 95 games.

Kwan has started to get back to his contact-hitting ways, collecting seven multi-hit efforts over his last 14 contests. This was arguably his best game of the season to date. The outfielder lifted his slash line to .270/.341/.364 with three homers, 30 RBI, 60 runs scored, 14 stolen bases, 22 doubles and two triples through 92 games.

Kwan tied the game at 4-4 with his RBI single in the seventh inning. With multiple hits in four of his last six games, the outfielder's contact-based approach seems to be working for him again after a slow start to the season. He's slashing .268/.343/.357 with 14 steals, two home runs, 26 RBI and 58 runs scored through 84 games.

Kwan went 3-for-5 with a run scored in Monday's 4-2 loss to Atlanta.

Kwan had some shoulder soreness Sunday that kept him out of the lineup versus the Cubs. The outfielder returned in a big way, delivering his third multi-hit effort in his last five games. Kwan hit just .257 in June, and he's batting .266 with a .699 OPS through 83 contests overall. He's added two home runs, 25 RBI, 56 runs scored, 13 stolen bases, 20 doubles and two triples while routinely working out of the leadoff spot. Assuming the shoulder issue doesn't flare up again, he should remain in a near-everyday role.

Kwan will start in left field and bat leadoff in Monday's series opener versus Atlanta.

After starting in all but two of the Guardians' first 80 games of the season, Kwan was on the bench twice over the weekend during Cleveland's three-game set with the Cubs. Kwan's absence from the lineup Friday was believed to be a rest day, but according to MLB.com, he sat out Sunday's 8-6 win after he experienced lingering soreness in his shoulder, stemming from a collision with the left field wall Saturday. Fortunately, the day off appears to be all that Kwan needed to overcome the shoulder issue, so he'll most likely start all seven of Cleveland's games this week before the Guardians head into the All-Star break.

Kwan is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cubs, Joe Noga of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

Kwan is on the bench for just the fourth time all season, though he's now been out of the lineup twice this weekend alone. The Guardians haven't indicated that Kwan is dealing with an injury, though it's fair to wonder if that's the case, given that he's performed well enough of late to continue warranting everyday at-bats. Fantasy managers will probably want to check back in on Kwan's status when Cleveland opens a series with Atlanta on Monday.

He's weathered a slow start to the year and should continue to be an on-base machine going forward.

Kwan went 1-for-6 with a triple, three RBI and four runs scored in Sunday's 12-3 win over the Diamondbacks.

While Kwan didn't hit all that well, he was able to get on base in a variety of ways, and the Guardians had no trouble bringing him home. It was the first time he scored four runs in a game this season, and just the second time he's knocked in three. The outfielder is up to a .261/.339/.352 slash line with 24 RBI, 48 runs scored, two home runs and 12 stolen bases through 71 contests.

Kwan had collected a total of four hits over his last six contests before Saturday's strong showing. The outfielder still went a fifth straight game without an extra-base hit. He's up to a .263/.342/.349 slash line with two home runs, 21 RBI, 12 stolen bases and 44 runs scored through 70 contests as the Guardians' primary leadoff hitter.

Kwan isn't in Cleveland's lineup for Thursday's game against San Diego.

The Padres will begin the game with southpaw Ryan Weathers on the mound, meaning the left-handed bat of Kwan will remain in the dugout Thursday. Will Brennan will shift over to cover left field, allowing Gabriel Arias to start in right and bat sixth.

Kwan's still struggling to make the same kind of consistent contact in 2023 as he did a year ago. He's 9-for-39 (.231) through his first nine games in June, though three of those hits have gone for extra bases. Overall, the outfielder is slashing .258/.341/.348 with two home runs, 11 steals, 20 RBI and 43 runs scored over 64 contests. Despite the flaws in his game, he remains the Guardians' leadoff hitter.

Kwan put the final run on the board in the ninth inning with a solo shot to right field. The long ball was was his second of the season and eighth of his career through 205 major-league games. Any homers he produces should be seen as a bonus by his fantasy managers, as Kwan's contributions are mostly limited to using his solid on-base skills to swipe bases and score runs.

Kwan notched multiple hits for the third time over Cleveland's past four games and recorded his fourth three-hit outing of the season. The second-year outfielder is one of the best contact hitters in MLB, and his speed makes him an instant threat whenever he's on base. He's slashing .263/.345/.346 across 55 games, which is down from his superb rookie season last year, but he's still locked into the leadoff spot on a regular basis.

While none of his contact resulted in a hit, Kwan was still able to contribute when he did reach base. The 25-year-old offers no power, but he's got more walks (18) than strikeouts (15) once again to help fuel a .269/.360/.319 slash line that comes with 11 RBI, 15 runs and eight steals in 30 games.

While Kwan's modest four-game hitting streak came to an end, he notched steals in consecutive contests for the third time already this season. The outfielder is up to seven thefts in eight attempts through 25 contests. While he's hitting a pedestrian .258, he's getting on base at a .357 clip, aided by a 13.9 percent walk rate. It appears he's in little danger of losing his spot atop the Guardians' order any time soon.

Kwan went 1-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base in Tuesday's 5-1 loss to the Rockies.

The 25-year-old has taken full advantage of MLB's rule changes to boost the running game, swiping six bags in seven attempts through 25 games after going 19-for-24 in 147 games as a rookie in 2022. Kwan has yet to hit a homer this season though, and his .266/.355/.319 has been kept afloat by a 12.7 percent walk rate, giving him a limited fantasy profile.

Kwan isn't having quite the same success on balls in play so far in 2023 that he did last year, but he's still reaching base at a strong clip, slashing .267/.358/.322 with five steals, 10 runs and 11 RBI through 23 games.

Kwan, serving as the DH Sunday, tied the game 2-2 with an RBI single in the third inning before stealing second and scoring on a Josh Bell double. Kwan would add a second RBI in the seventh, driving in Will Brennan with another base hit. The two-hit game snapped an 0-for-8 stretch for the 25-year-old Kwan. He's now slashing .259/.362/.310 with five RBI, eight runs scored and five stolen bases early in the season.

It's still early in the season, but Kwan appears to be in a sophomore slump. He's gone just 2-for-18 over the last five games, dropping his season average to .246 through 15 contests overall. Despite the lackluster hitting, Kwan remains in the leadoff spot. He's picked up four steals in five attempts while adding eight RBI and seven runs scored. With Myles Straw both hitting and running well to start the season, Kwan may need to get things turned around quickly to stay at the top of the order.

Kwan picked up his second steal of the season in the 10th inning after getting aboard with an intentional walk. The outfielder has hit safely in eight of 10 games so far. He's slashing .302/.360/.495 with eight RBI and four runs scored while serving as the Guardians' leadoff hitter.

Kwan has been very productive from the leadoff spot this season, as he extended his hitting streak to six games with Wednesday's performance. It was his third straight multi-hit game and fourth overall through seven contests this season. Perhaps the only disappointing aspect of Kwan's performance thus far is that he hadn't attempted any thefts prior to Wednesday, but he was active on the basepaths in the victory, stealing one base and getting picked off on another occasion. The outfielder tallied 19 thefts in 24 attempts last season, and though he has minimal power, his ability to get on base and collect steals gives him some appeal in most fantasy leagues.

The Guardians' leadoff hitter was at his pesky best, seeing 38 total pitches across his six plate appearances and putting his team in the lead for good in the fourth inning with a two-run double that he slashed just inside the foul line past third base. He also chipped in a sacrifice fly and a two-run single. Kwan's .298 batting average last season was buoyed by a .323 BABIP, but given his contact-heavy approach, those numbers seem eminently repeatable in 2023.

There's little reason to worry about Kwan's performance at the plate in the spring. He posted a 62:60 BB:K last year while slashing .298/.373/.400 and stealing 19 bases across 147 games. He could regress a slight amount from his .323 BABIP as a rookie last year, but his sharp eye at the plate and contact hitting should keep him in the leadoff role barring a significant slump.

The 24-year-old has hit very well lately with an .873 OPS in 54 at-bats during his last 14 games.

That said, Kwan projects as an excellent source of batting average and runs, making him an ideal pickup in leagues where he's available for fantasy managers in need of help in those categories.

He doesn't have much power, as he's only hit 15 homers as a professional, but he should be able to hit for a solid batting average right away and could score a fair amount of runs if his strong on-base skills eventually earn him a spot at or near the top of the lineup. Such a role may not come early in the season, however, as it's not even guaranteed that he'll start on a regular basis.

Myles Straw is likely to patrol center field, which is Kwan's natural position, but the 24-year-old could get a promotion if Josh Naylor, Bradley Zimmer or Oscar Mercado struggle with the bat while covering the corner outfield spots.
