Strikes out eight in losing effort
Glasnow took the loss in Tuesday's 4-0 defeat against the Rangers in Game 1 of the AL Wild Card Series, allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits and five walks across five innings. He struck out eight.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow had his ups and downs in his tenth career postseason start, but ultimately struggled to keep runs off the board. The blame cannot be placed solely on the right-hander, however, as the team also committed three errors behind him. While the 16 whiffs Glasnow compiled in the contest speak to some level of dominance against the Rangers lineup, he also struggled with his command, most notably throwing a wild pitch in the fifth inning that allowed Corey Seager to score. He now has a 5.72 ERA and 1.49 WHIP with 61 strikeouts across 45.2 postseason innings in his career.

Starting Game 1
Glasnow is starting Game 1 of the AL Wild Card Series against the Rangers on Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow struggled in a few starts in September, but he still struck out 48 batters in 33.1 innings over his six starts last month. Zach Eflin will start Game 2 on Wednesday.

Blanks BoSox for 10th win
Glasnow (10-7) picked up the win in Wednesday's 5-0 victory over the Red Sox, allowing two hits and a walk over five scoreless innings. He struck out nine.
ANALYSIS
The southpaw left the mound after just 70 pitches (45 strikes) with the postseason in mind, but Glasnow was dominant before his exit, generating an incredible 31 called or swinging strikes. Whiffs have come easily for him in September even if nothing else has, and Glasnow has a 4.86 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 48:10 K:BB through 33.1 innings on the month. The 30-year-old figures to start the first game of the playoff for the Rays, but as yet it's not clear when that will happen or who their opponent will be, as they could still catch the Orioles for the AL East title and a first-round bye.

Shaky in loss
Glasnow (9-7) took the loss Friday, allowing four runs on three hits and four walks over 5.1 innings against the Blue Jays. He struck out seven.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow struggled with his command Friday night as he issued four walks, equaling a season-high last registered on June 14 against Oakland. Since returning from a back injury on Aug. 14, the 30-year-old pitcher has made eight starts, going 4-4 with a 4.46 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 57:14 K:BB over 46.1 innings. Glasnow looks to bounce back in his final start of the season, currently scheduled to be at Toronto.

Roughed up by Orioles
Glasnow (9-6) took the loss Saturday, allowing six runs on eight hits and two walks over four innings against the Orioles. He struck out four.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow turned in his worst performance of 2023 on Saturday, tying his season worsts in earned runs allowed and strikeouts while failing to go deeper than four frames for the first time all year. The 29-year-old was also tagged for a two-run home run in the second inning by Gunnar Henderson. Glasnow has allowed four or more runs in back-to-back appearances and is slated to take on the Blue Jays for his next start.
Sep 11, 2023
Coughs up four runs
Glasnow (9-5) allowed four runs on six hits and two walks over six innings Monday, striking out eight and earning a win against the Twins.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow gave up just one run through five frames before serving up a three-run shot to Royce Lewis in the sixth inning. Glasnow yielded just four runs over his previous three starts before Monday's hiccup. Since the All-Star break, he's gone 7-2 with a stellar 78:14 K:BB and 2.53 ERA through 64 innings. He'll carry a 3.15 ERA into his next outing, which is currently lined up to be in Baltimore this weekend.
Sep 7, 2023
Ties career high with 14 Ks
Glasnow (8-5) picked up the win in Wednesday's 3-1 victory over the Red Sox, allowing one run on three hits and a walk over six innings while striking out 14.
ANALYSIS
The 14 strikeouts tied his career high, a mark he set in April 2021 against the Rangers. Glasnow generated a dazzling 22 swinging strikes among his 103 pitches as he fanned double-digit batters for the third time this season. It was also his third straight quality start and eighth in nine trips to the mound since the All-Star break. With Shane McClanahan (elbow) done for the season, Glasnow has stepped up as Tampa Bay's ace, posting a 2.33 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 70:12 K:BB through 58 second-half innings. His next outing lines up for a road series in Minnesota to begin next week.
Sep 1, 2023
Stumbles late in loss
Glasnow (7-5) allowed three runs on seven hits over seven innings Friday, striking out six and taking a loss against the Guardians.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow gave up one run through six innings before coughing up a pair in the seventh. He's given up eight earned runs over his last 19 innings, raising his season ERA from 3.01 to 3.17 in the process. However, he owns a 2.50 ERA across 68.1 innings in his last 11 outings. Glasnow will carry a 120:27 K:BB into his next appearance, which is lined up to be at home against Boston.
Aug 26, 2023
Brilliant against Yankees
Glasnow (7-4) earned the win Saturday, allowing one hit and two walks over six scoreless innings against the Yankees. He struck out four.
ANALYSIS
The only hit Glasnow allowed was a sixth-inning single, as the 30-year-old righty needed just 85 pitches to secure a quality start and win. He now owns a 5-1 record in seven starts since the All-Star break, posting a 2.20 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 50:11 K:BB across 45 innings during that span. Glasnow is projected to make a road start against Cleveland next weekend.
Aug 20, 2023
Labors through rare poor outing
Glasnow (6-4) took the loss in Game 1 of a doubleheader against the Angels on Saturday, allowing seven runs (five earned) on eight hits while striking out seven batters over six innings.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow wasn't exactly knocked around in the start -- of the eight hits against him, three didn't leave the infield -- but his final stat line nonetheless reflected one of his worst outings of the campaign. It was just the second time in 14 starts that the right-hander has allowed more than three earned runs, and the eight knocks against him were a season-high mark. Glasnow did manage to extend his streak of starts with at least seven strikeouts to 10, and his season ERA still looks good at 3.35. He'll try to bounce back in what is projected to be a favorable matchup at home against Colorado in his next start.
Aug 15, 2023
Cruises to victory Monday
Glasnow (6-3) earned the win over San Francisco on Monday, allowing one run on three hits and three walks while striking out seven batters over six innings.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow hadn't pitched since July 31 due to a back injury, but the issue appeared to be a non-factor Monday. The right-hander received plenty of run support and was pulled after a modest 87 pitches but still managed to record six innings to finish with his fifth straight quality start. Over that span, Glasnow has posted a dominant 1.64 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 39:9 K:BB over 33 frames while picking up four wins. The veteran hurler has allowed more than three runs just once in 13 starts this season.
Aug 11, 2023
Pushed back to Monday
Rays manager Kevin Cash announced Friday that Glasnow (back) will make his next start Monday at San Francisco, Ryan Bass of Bally Sports Sun reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow had been aiming to start Saturday versus Cleveland and threw a successful 15-pitch bullpen session Friday afternoon at Tropicana Field, but the Rays will play it safe here and delay his return a couple additional days. The 29-year-old right-hander hasn't pitched since July 31 due to back spasms.
Aug 11, 2023
Still aiming for Saturday
Glasnow (back) threw a 15-pitch bullpen session Friday and is aiming to start Saturday against the Guardians, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow was scratched from his last scheduled turn in the Rays' rotation due to back spasms, but he told reporters after Friday's workout he has "been getting better and better every day." He'll likely be something close to a game-time decision Saturday, but indications are good that the 29-year-old right-hander will indeed be able to take the mound versus Cleveland.
Aug 9, 2023
Remains on track to start Saturday
Manager Kevin Cash said Glasnow (back) played catch Wednesday, and the Rays remain "optimistic" that the right-hander will be ready to make his next start Saturday versus the Guardians, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
At the same time, the skipper noted that he won't know for certain that Glasnow will be able to pitch this weekend until Saturday morning, so fantasy managers planning on activating him should keep a close eye on his status leading up to the game's 4:10 p.m. ET start time that day. Glasnow was scratched ahead of his most recent scheduled start this past Sunday after experiencing back spasms, but he seems to making good progress in his recovery from the injury.
Aug 8, 2023
Could return Saturday
Rays manager Kevin Cash expressed hope Tuesday that Glasnow (back) will be able to return to the rotation Saturday against the Guardians, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow was scratched from his last scheduled turn in the rotation Sunday versus the Tigers due to back discomfort, but he got an injection Tuesday to aid the healing process and will attempt to throw a side session Thursday. When healthy this season, the 29-year-old right-hander has worked to a strong 3.15 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 96:22 K:BB in 12 starts covering 68.2 innings.
Aug 8, 2023
Being examined Tuesday
Glasnow (back) will visit with team specialist Dr. Tom Tolli on Tuesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow had to be scratched from his scheduled start Sunday against the Tigers due to back spasms, and while the Rays aren't concerned about it being a long-term issue, more will be known following Tuesday's exam. The hope is that the big right-hander will be ready to take the ball as soon as this week versus the Cardinals.
Aug 6, 2023
Back issue downplayed
Manager Kevin Cash said Sunday that Glasnow (back) could be ready to make a start for the Rays during the club's upcoming three-game series with the Cardinals, Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Sun reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow had been in line to start Sunday's series finale with the Tigers, but after he experienced back spasms late Saturday, the Rays scratched him and had reliever Erasmo Ramirez make a spot start in his stead. According to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times, Glasnow will likely meet with a doctor Monday, but at this stage, Cash doesn't believe the big right-hander is at risk of going on the IL. If the doctor agrees with Cash's assessment and Glasnow responds well to treatment, he could be back on the mound as early as Wednesday or Thursday.
Aug 6, 2023
Scratched from Sunday start
Glasnow has been scratched from his scheduled start Sunday against the Tigers due to back spasms, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Right-hander Erasmo Ramirez will pick up a spot start in place of Glasnow, who reportedly experienced the back issue late Saturday. The Rays are likely still gaining information on the extent of Glasnow's injury, so at this stage, the team is hoping that he'll miss only one turn through the rotation and won't require a trip to the injured list.
Jul 31, 2023
Punches out eight in win
Glasnow (5-3) earned the win Monday, allowing a run on three hits and two walks over seven innings against the Yankees. He struck out eight.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow now has eight or more strikeouts in six of his last seven starts while pitching to a 2.08 ERA in that span. The 29-year-old right-hander has returned to elite form after missing the first two months of the season with an oblique injury. Overall, Glasnow's ERA is down to 3.15 with a 1.08 WHIP and 96:22 K:BB across 12 starts (68.2 innings) this season. He's currently lined up for a road matchup with the Tigers this weekend in his next outing.
Jul 26, 2023
Dominant in win
Glasnow (4-3) earned the win Tuesday, allowing a run on two hits and two walks over seven innings against Miami. He struck out eight.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow's now held opponents to just one run in three of his previous four outings while racking up 55 strikeouts over his last six starts (36.1 innings). The 29-year-old right-hander lowered his ERA to 3.36 with a 1.12 WHIP and 88:20 K:BB across 11 starts (61.2 innings). Glasnow will look to keep rolling in his next start, currently lined up for this weekend against the Astros.
Jul 21, 2023
Keeps racking up punchouts
Glasnow allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits and no walks while striking out nine batters over seven innings in a no-decision against Baltimore on Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow struck out the first three batters he faced and cruised through three perfect frames before Baltimore got to him for three runs on four hits in the fourth. The veteran was able to recover, however, tossing three more scoreless innings to notch his second straight quality start. Glasnow ended up completing seven innings for the first time this season, and his nine punchouts were the third-most he's tallied in an outing thus far. Glasnow got a late start to the campaign due to an oblique injury, but he's been one of MLB's top strikeout pitchers since his return. On the season, his 35.1 percent strikeout rate ranks second among MLB starters who have faced at least 200 batters.
Jul 16, 2023
Cruises to third win
Glasnow (3-3) earned the win over Kansas City in Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader, allowing one run on six hits and two walks while striking out seven batters over six innings.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow was originally slated to start Friday but had his outing pushed back a day due to inclement weather. The adjustment didn't appear to bother the veteran hurler, as he notched his second quality start of the season and picked up his first victory since mid-June. Glasnow departed his previous start against Atlanta early due to cramping in his hands and legs, so it was reassuring for those who roster him in fantasy to see him go a full six frames and toss 95 pitches. The right-hander has been a valuable asset since making his season debut May 27, compiling a 3.78 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 71:18 K:BB over 47.2 innings.
Jul 14, 2023
Rays at Royals postponed Friday
Glasnow's next start will be pushed back to Saturday after Friday's game between the Rays and Royals has been postponed due to inclement weather, Ryan Bass of Bally Sports Sun reports.
ANALYSIS
The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader Saturday. Alec Marsh -- who had been slated to oppose Glasnow on Friday -- will also have his start pushed back a day.
Jul 13, 2023
Gains clearance to start Friday
Glasnow (hand/legs) is scheduled to start Friday's game in Kansas City.
ANALYSIS
In his most recent start July 7 versus Atlanta, Glasnow exited midway through the sixth inning while battling cramps in his hand and legs, but the extended time off due to the All-Star break provided ample time for the 29-year-old to recover. He'll lead off the Rays' second-half slate and look to continue to the momentum he had carried into the break. In his final three starts of the first half, Glasnow went 0-2 but submitted a 2.76 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 31:3 K:BB over 16.1 frames.
Jul 7, 2023
Had cramps in hands, legs
Rays manager Kevin Cash said Glasnow battled cramping in his hands and legs Friday right Atlanta, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
That's what led to Glasnow's exit in the top of the sixth inning. Cash noted that the 29-year-old right-hander has dealt with similar types of cramps before and that he was probably done for the night anyway at 88 pitches. He should be able to take his next scheduled turn in the Tampa Bay rotation coming out of the All-Star break. Glasnow racked up eight strikeouts Friday versus Atlanta while yielding two runs -- one earned -- on two hits and one walk across 5.2 frames.
Jul 7, 2023
Pulled due to cramps
Glasnow exited his start Friday against Atlanta due to cramping, Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Sun reports.
ANALYSIS
There are no specifics, but Glasnow could be spotted massaging and stretching his left (glove) hand as he departed in the top of the sixth inning. If it is indeed just a non-throwing-hand cramp, the 29-year-old righty should be able to avoid the IL and slot back into the Rays' rotation the weekend after the All-Star break. He finished with eight strikeouts against only one walk Thursday while scattering two runs -- one earned -- on two hits over 5.2 frames.
Jul 7, 2023
Exits start with injury
Glasnow was removed from his start Friday versus Atlanta due to an apparent injury, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow seemed to be having some trouble with his left (glove) hand, as he was rubbing and stretching it as he walked off the field with a trainer at his side. The 29-year-old right-hander had allowed two runs -- one earned -- over 5.2 innings prior to his departure in the top of the sixth. He issued only one walk and struck out eight.
Jul 1, 2023
Strikes out 11 in loss
Glasnow (2-2) allowed three runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out 11 over 5.2 innings, taking the loss Saturday versus the Mariners.
ANALYSIS
This was his second-longest outing of the season, and Glasnow has racked up double-digit strikeouts in each of his last two starts. He's also winless in his last three outings, as the Mariners took the lead for good in the sixth inning. Glasnow's posted a strong 56:15 K:BB over 36 innings so far, but his 4.50 ERA and 1.33 WHIP remain relatively pedestrian as he continues to settle in after missing the start of the season with an oblique injury. The right-hander's last start of the first half is tentatively projected to be a challenging home start versus Atlanta.
Jun 26, 2023
Punches out 12
Glasnow allowed one earned run on four hits and a walk while striking out 12 across five innings Sunday against the Royals. He did not factor into the decision.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow didn't have a particularly efficient performance, but he induced an impressive 26 swinging strikes across only 89 total pitches. He's completed more than five innings in only three of his starts on the season, though he has still managed to pick up two wins and rack up 45 punch outs across 30.1 frames. While he's struggled to prevent runs in a few of his starts, Glasnow has now also allowed only one earned run in half of his appearances.
Jun 20, 2023
Hit hard in loss
Glasnow (2-1) took the loss Tuesday, allowing six runs on six hits and two walks over 4.1 innings against the Orioles. He struck out seven.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow surrendered a three-run homer to Aaron Hicks in the first inning before Anthony Santander piled on with a two-run shot in the second. Glasnow would settle down, retiring eight of the final nine batters he faced, but the Rays couldn't climb out of the early hole. In five starts (25.1 innings) since his return from an oblique injury, Glasnow has a 4.97 ERA with a 1.38 WHIP and 33:13 K:BB. He's currently lined up for a favorable home matchup with the Royals in his next outing.
Jun 15, 2023
Six strikeouts in win
Glasnow (2-0) earned the win Wednesday, allowing three runs on six hits and four walks over 5.1 innings against the Athletics. He struck out six.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow allowed season highs in walks and hits allowed, but he still completed five innings for a third straight start and recorded his second consecutive win. The right-hander has surrendered 10 walks over his past three starts, but his command issues haven't come back to haunt him yet. Given he missed the first two months of the season with an oblique injury, Glasnow's overall numbers (3.43 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 26:11 K:BB) across his first four appearances are solid, and as long as he's getting regular starts, he should be utilized in basically every fantasy format.
Jun 10, 2023
Earns first win
Glasnow (1-0) earned the win Friday, allowing one run on one hit and three walks over six innings against Texas. He struck out six.
ANALYSIS
The only hit Glasnow allowed was a solo home run, as he cruised through a season-high six innings en route to his first win. The right-hander is still ramping up after missing the first two months of the season, but he's been relatively sharp across his first three outings, posting a 2.87 ERA and 1.09 WHIP. Glasnow has walked six batters over his past two starts, and while he's been able to limit the damage, his command is certainly something to watch moving forward. Regardless, Glasnow is one of the best pitchers in MLB when healthy, so as long as he's taking the mound on a regular basis, he should be utilized in basically every fantasy format.
Jun 8, 2023
Pushed back to Friday
Glasnow will make his next start for the Rays on Friday against the Rangers, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow had been on turn for Thursday, but the Rays have elected to bring up Yonny Chirinos for that outing and give Glasnow an extra day of rest. The tall right-hander has posted a 3.72 ERA and 14:4 K:BB through 9.2 innings in his two starts since returning from the injured list.
Jun 4, 2023
Fans six in no-decision
Glasnow didn't factor into the decision in a 4-2 win over the Red Sox during the second game of Saturday's doubleheader, allowing one run on four hits and three walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out six.
ANALYSIS
Making his second start of the season after a spring oblique strain cost him the first couple months of 2023, Glasnow looked sharp as he tossed 88 pitches (54 strikes). The right-hander has a 14:4 K:BB through 9.2 innings since his return, and the ace-level upside he's flashed since coming to Tampa Bay seemingly remains intact. Now all he has to do is stay healthy, but that's easier said that done -- since making his big-league debut with the Pirates in 2016, Glasnow has thrown triple-digits innings in a season only once, and his career high in starts is only 14.
Jun 2, 2023
Start moved back after rainout
Glasnow's start against the Red Sox on Friday was postponed due to inclement weather.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow was supposed to face off against Boston and Garrett Whitlock on Friday, but the rain will see that game rescheduled for Monday. Both Glasnow and Whitlock should both be on the bump for Saturday's game.
May 28, 2023
Fans eight in 2023 debut
Glasnow did not factor in the decision against the Dodgers on Saturday, allowing three runs on five hits and one walk while striking out eight batters over 4.1 innings.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow spent nearly the first two months of the season recovering from an oblique injury before making his regular-season debut Saturday. The right-hander had mixed results -- four of the five hits he allowed went for extra bases, and the Dodgers put up three runs on him, but Glasnow also racked up an impressive 17 swinging strikes and eight punchouts in the short outing. Considering the quality of the opponent, this was by most measures a promising return for the oft-injured veteran. He'll try to build upon it in his next outing, which tentatively lines up to take place in Boston next week.
May 27, 2023
Officially activated for debut
Glasnow (oblique) was reinstated from the injured list as expected Saturday ahead of his scheduled start against the Dodgers, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
The oft-injured righty couldn't make it to the end of February before suffering his first injury of the season, a left oblique strain. His frequent absences are typically sandwiched between outstanding performances, as he's recorded a 2.75 ERA and 36.0 percent strikeout rate in 39 starts across his four years in Tampa. His 0.68 ERA across four rehab starts suggests there's reason to expect the same this season, though the Dodgers will be a difficult first test.
May 25, 2023
Season debut set for Saturday
Glasnow (oblique) is listed as the Rays' probable pitcher for Saturday's game against the Dodgers, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.
ANALYSIS
That's the day where Glasnow's name had been written down in pencil and it appears now it can be written in ink. Glasnow was superb during his rehab assignment while coming back from an oblique injury, yielding just one run while posting a 20:5 K:BB over 13.1 innings covering four starts. He got his pitch count up to 67 in his final rehab outing, so he won't be available for a full workload Saturday.
May 22, 2023
Likely to debut Saturday
Glasnow (oblique) is expected to make his season debut with the Rays on Saturday versus the Dodgers, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
He would be on regular rest Friday, but Glasnow and the rest of the Rays' rotation will get an extra day as Cooper Criswell serves as a bulk reliever that day. Glasnow allowed just one run while posting a 20:5 K:BB over 13.1 innings covering four rehab starts. He threw 67 pitches in his last rehab outing Sunday, so he should be available for 90 or so pitches this weekend.
May 22, 2023
Dazzles in fourth rehab start
Glasnow (oblique) covered six innings and struck out six while allowing an earned run on two hits and two walks Sunday in his rehab start for Triple-A Durham.
ANALYSIS
Making the fourth start of his rehab assignment, Glasnow built up to 67 pitches and once again looked sharp during his time on the mound. The hard-throwing right-hander has been on the shelf all season with a left oblique strain, but he looks like he could return from the 15-day injured list later this week to make his 2023 debut for Tampa Bay. If activated, Glasnow would tentatively line up to make his first start for the Rays either Friday or Saturday versus the Dodgers at Tropicana Field.
May 21, 2023
Making another rehab start Sunday
Glasnow (oblique) is making his fourth rehab start with Triple-A Durham on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
The right-hander delivered four scoreless frames in his previous start with Durham last Tuesday, and he should continue to build up his workload Sunday. It could be Glasnow's final rehab outing -- assuming he avoids any setbacks -- which potentially puts him on track to make his season debut next weekend against the Dodgers.
May 17, 2023
Another rehab start likely
Glasnow (oblique) is likely to make another rehab start before rejoining the Rays' rotation, Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Sun reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow was excellent in a rehab start with Triple-A Durham on Tuesday, striking out nine over four scoreless innings. While that seems to have put any concern over his minor setback in his previous outing to bed, he still needs to be built back up a bit. Glasnow's season debut should come next week, likely at home against the Dodgers.
May 16, 2023
Impressed in rehab outing
Glasnow (oblique) hurled four scoreless innings with nine strikeouts in a rehab start for Triple-A Durham on Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow allowed just three hits with a walk in an impressive outing for the 29-year-old. It's a positive development after the right-hander was forced to leave his start last Wednesday with tightness in his left side after just an inning and 11 pitches. Glasnow will likely need to make at least one more rehab start before he returns, but he's on track to return to the Tampa Bay rotation before the end of May.
May 11, 2023
Slated to resume rehab Tuesday
Glasnow (oblique) is expected to resume his minor-league rehab assignment Tuesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow was pulled after throwing just 11 pitches Wednesday at Triple-A Durham with what was labeled as mild left side tightness, but Rays manager Kevin Cash said Thursday that there is no new injury. The 29-year-old is slated to pitch twice more on the farm before hopefully hopping into Tampa Bay's rotation around the end of May. He suffered a left oblique strain back in late February.
May 10, 2023
Exits with mild side tightness
Glasnow (oblique) was removed from Wednesday's rehab start with left side tightness that is very mild in nature, Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Sun reports.
ANALYSIS
He was supposed to go four innings or 60 pitches but was pulled Wednesday after just 11 pitches. Given that he is coming back from a left oblique strain, it makes sense for the Rays to be careful with Glasnow, but this should still be considered a setback.
May 10, 2023
Pulled early from rehab start
Glasnow (oblique) was removed from Wednesday's rehab start with Triple-A Durham after just one inning, Patrick Kinas of Westwood One Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow needed just 11 pitches to get through a scoreless frame before being lifted. He had been slated for four innings and/or 65 pitches, so it's possible he suffered some sort of setback. Glasnow was making the second of what was expected to be three rehab starts.
May 7, 2023
Three rehab starts likely
There's a "good chance" Glasnow (oblique) will make a third rehab start with Triple-A Durham following his second rehab start Wednesday, Rays manager Kevin Cash told Kristie Ackert of the Tampa Bay Times.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow struck out four and walked two over 2.1 scoreless frames in his first rehab outing Friday, throwing 46 pitches. "He's going to throw four innings, 60 to 65 pitches I think on Wednesday in Charlotte. Then we'll talk," Cash said. "I think in fairness and to get ahead of it, there's a good chance he's going to make another start after this upcoming one, just to kind of get him closer to normal build-up. Similar to a spring training (build-up)." Assuming Glasnow does indeed make a third rehab start, he would tentatively be lined up for his season debut with the Rays during their May 19-21 series at home versus the Brewers.
May 5, 2023
Making first rehab start
Glasnow (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Durham on Friday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow is slated for three innings in the first of what's expected to be 2-to-3 rehab outings. The big right-hander has been working his way back from a strained oblique which he suffered in late February. Glasnow made two late regular season and one postseason start last season after making it back from Tommy John surgery.
Apr 29, 2023
Could make rehab start next week
Glasnow (oblique) threw a two-inning live bullpen session in Tampa Bay on Saturday, and could make a rehab appearance for Triple-A Durham within the next week, Ryan Bass of Bally Sports Sun reports.
ANALYSIS
Rays manager Kevin Cash called the two innings (encouraging) after getting a report from pitching coach Rick Knapp. Glasnow is aiming for a return in the middle of May, but that timeline could be pushed up if he continues to receiving encouraging reports. Just keep in mind that the right-hander has to build up his arm strength as he's been out with his oblique injury since the middle of the Grapefruit League in Florida.

Tracking toward mid-May return
Glasnow (oblique) is projected to return in mid-May, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow started throwing bullpen sessions a week ago and continues to progress well. We're seven weeks into an initially-projected 6-8 week timetable for Glasnow, so it looks like it's going to wind up being closer to 11 weeks that he's sidelined. He's doing well, though, and should be ready to face hitters soon.

Throws bullpen session
Glasnow (oblique) threw a 15-pitch bullpen session Tuesday, Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Sun reports.
ANALYSIS
It's the first time he's thrown off a mound since he suffered a Grade 2 strain of his left oblique back in late February. That was six weeks ago, so it doesn't seem like Glasnow is going to make it back within the intially-projected 6-8 week timetable. The talented right-hander is doing well, though, and just needs to rebuild stamina.

Could throw bullpen next week
Glasnow (oblique) threw again before Sunday's game against the Athletics and told reporters that he expects to throw a bullpen next week, Kristie Ackert of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow also said he's been long tossing for "a while" now and throwing out past 120 feet. The right-hander has been out since the middle of spring while recovering from a left oblique strain. Glasnow will need several bullpens and rehab starts before joining the Rays rotation, but this is all positive news for the 29-year-old right-hander.
Mar 29, 2023
Placed on 15-day IL
The Rays placed Glasnow (oblique) on the 15-day injured list Wednesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow was diagnosed in late February with a Grade 2 strain of his left oblique and is expected to miss at least the first month of the 2023 regular season. He had just resumed throwing on flat ground when spring camp came to a close.
Mar 26, 2023
Throwing on flat ground
Glasnow (oblique) is throwing on flat ground from 75 feet Sunday, Kristie Ackert of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
The 29-year-old is about a month removed from suffering a Grade 2 left oblique strain, and his return to throwing is an indication that his rehab is going well. Glasnow's initial recovery timeline was 6-to-8 weeks, and he appears to be trending toward the long end of the timeframe given he has to fully build up his arm after missing spring training. A return in early May should be possible if he can avoid any setbacks as he ramps up his workload.
Mar 11, 2023
Still in treatment phase
Rays manager Kevin Cash told reporters Saturday that Glasnow (oblique) has not started throwing as of yet, Kristie Ackert of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
"Just treatment," Cash said on Saturday before their Grapefruit League game. The right-hander was diagnosed with a Grade 2 left oblique strain on February 27 while throwing to hitters during a live batting practice session. He's expected to miss at least six weeks with the injury, but it could progress longer with Tampa Bay sure to be cautious with the 29-year-old hurler.
Feb 28, 2023
Expected to miss 6-8 weeks
Glasnow is expected to miss 6-8 weeks after an MRI revealed a Grade 2 left oblique strain, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.
ANALYSIS
The projected 6-8 week timetable is for Glasnow's return to game action, although it's not clear whether that would be a return to the Rays or the start of a rehab assignment. Either way, it's going to be a pretty lengthy absence for the talented right-hander. Glasnow, of course, was limited to just two abbreviated starts late in the 2022 season following a long rehab from Tommy John surgery.
Feb 28, 2023
Cash expects injured list stint
Glasnow (oblique) will begin the season on the injured list, Rays manager Kevin Cash told Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times on Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Topkin speculated as much when reporting on Glasnow's oblique injury Monday and Cash says of an IL stint that "I would book that right now," adding that the pitcher has "typical soreness, bothers him to sneeze, cough, whatever." The Rays are still waiting on Glasnow's MRI results and more should be known about a potential timetable once those are in.
Feb 27, 2023
Sustains oblique injury
Glasnow suffered an oblique injury on Monday during a live batting practice session, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow reportedly threw about six pitches before he left with a trainer. The right-hander will undergo an MRi on Tuesday to determine the severity of the injury, but Topkin believes that the right-hander will miss time. Just how long Glasnow will be out will be determined at least in part by those image results. Fantasy managers will want to keep a close eye on the situation, and there should be more clarity by Wednesday.
Feb 19, 2023
Steps back on mound
Glasnow (illness) completed a bullpen session Sunday, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow had been scheduled to take the hill Saturday, but the Rays scratched him from the side session while he battled a stomach illness. As anticipated, Glasnow was cleared to get back on the mound Sunday, with manager Kevin Cash noting afterward that it was the best bullpen session that he had seen the right-hander throw. Glasnow was able to make two abbreviated starts for the Rays late in the regular season following his recovery from Tommy John surgery, and after a long winter to continue resting up, the 29-year-old appears poised to enter the 2023 campaign without any notable workload restrictions.
Feb 18, 2023
Battling stomach bug
Glasnow missed his scheduled bullpen session Saturday due to a stomach illness, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow's health is worth watching this spring, but a brief stomach bug isn't likely to be the sort of thing which makes a significant impact. Other than the illness, Glasnow enters camp healthy, having returned from Tommy John late last season to throw 11.2 innings, including five in the playoffs. He struck out 15 batters while allowing just six hits and one run, indicating that he remains as good as ever on a per-inning basis. Exactly how many innings he'll throw remains a mystery, however, as he's only once reached triple digits in that category and has never made more than 14 starts in a major-league season.
Oct 3, 2022
Pitches into fourth
Glasnow pitched 3.2 scoreless innings, allowing two hits and walk while striking out seven in Monday's loss to the Red Sox. He did not factor into the decision.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow was stretched out a little further Monday, tossing 64 pitches while blanking the Red Sox over 3.2 frames. The right-hander returned from the 60-day injured list to make his season debut Wednesday and will now be a significant part of the Rays' pitching staff in the postseason. Over his two outings, he's allowed one run on four hits and two walks while striking out 10 batters over 6.2 innings.
Oct 3, 2022
Gets another start
Glasnow is scheduled to start Monday's game in Boston.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow made his return from the 60-day injured list last week and covered three innings in a no-decision against Cleveland, striking out three while allowing one earned run on two hits and one walk. With his surgically repaired elbow checking out fine following that 50-pitch outing, Glasnow will likely look to build up to around four or five innings Monday in his final start of the regular season. The Rays haven't yet determined if Glasnow will be a part of their postseason rotation, but at the very least, the right-hander should be in line to fill a key role out of the bullpen.
Sep 29, 2022
Sharp in return
Glasnow allowed one earned run on two hits and a walk while striking out three across three innings Wednesday against the Guardians. He did not factor into the decision.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow made his first appearance of 2022 after recovering from Tommy John surgery and threw 50 pitches. He maxed out at 99.4 mph on his fastball and averaged 98.1 mph -- which would be his highest velocity across an entire season. Glasnow lines up to make another start prior to the close of the regular season and figures to serve a prominent role in the Rays' postseason run.
Sep 28, 2022
Reinstated from injured list
Glasnow (elbow) was reinstated from the 60-day injured list ahead of Wednesday's start in Cleveland, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow will make his season debut Wednesday after recovering from Tommy John surgery, but he'll be limited to approximately 45 pitches during his start against the Guardians. However, if all goes well, he'll likely have a chance to make a second start sometime next week, and he should be an option to pitch during the postseason.
Sep 25, 2022
Starting Wednesday in Cleveland
Glasnow (elbow) is scheduled to start Wednesday in Cleveland, where he will be limited to about 45 pitches, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow is throwing a light bullpen session Sunday in preparation for his activation. He could be excellent on a per-inning basis, but he won't be able to go deep enough to qualify for a win in his 2022 debut. However, it's possible Glasnow could log four or five innings if he stays on turn and pitches the following week in Boston.
Sep 20, 2022
Could pitch next week in Cleveland
Glasnow (elbow) could make his 2023 debut next week in Cleveland, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
If all goes well for Glasnow in Friday's rehab start for Triple-A Durham, his next appearance would likely come either Sept. 28 or Sept. 29 in Cleveland. Glasnow struck out four over two perfect innings in his most recent rehab appearance. The best-case scenario in standard fantasy leagues would probably be for Glasnow to follow an opener in his return to the majors so that he can realistically qualify for the win.
Sep 19, 2022
Progressing nicely in rehab
Reports on Glasnow (elbow) following Sunday's rehab start are "very good," Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow has made three starts during his rehab stint in Triple-A Durham and boasts a 2.08 ERA and 0.98 WHIP over 4.1 innings during that span. He hasn't seen major-league action since June 2021, but that could change soon depending on how he feels following his next start in Durham on Friday.
Sep 14, 2022
Requires more rehab outings
Manager Kevin Cash said Wednesday that Glasnow (elbow) performed well during Tuesday's rehab start at Triple-A Durham but will require "multiple" more minor-league appearances prior to returning from the injured list, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow has made a pair of rehab appearances at Durham over the last week, allowing a run on a hit and three walks while striking out four in 2.1 innings. While he's felt good following the outings, he'll need to spend some more time in the minors prior to rejoining the Rays. However, if he continues to fare well following his upcoming rehab appearances, it's possible the right-hander is utilized out of Tampa Bay's bullpen late in the regular season.
Sep 9, 2022
Next rehab start set
Glasnow (elbow) will make another rehab start Tuesday with Triple-A Durham, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow came through his first rehab outing without issue, and he will throw again six days after that appearance. Glasnow threw only 19 pitches his last time out, so he is a ways from being stretched out. However, there has been talk that Glasnow could work in relief for the Rays before the season ends, and that could allow for an earlier return.
Sep 2, 2022
Will begin rehab Wednesday
Glasnow (elbow) is slated to begin a rehab assignment in Triple-A Durham on Wednesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow will throw a bullpen session before he joins Triple-A Durham on Wednesday. Once he gets there, they will take his rehab process slowly and have already determined he will throw just one inning in his first game.
Aug 29, 2022
Throws another live BP
Glasnow (elbow) faced Triple-A Durham hitters in live batting practice Sunday and is expected to repeat the activity again Wednesday before beginning a rehab assignment, Patrick Kinas of Westwood One reports.
ANALYSIS
According to Kinas, Glasnow threw approximately 23 pitches in the session, which came two days after he and the Rays reached an agreement on a two-year, $30.35 million contract extension. Glasnow, who is making his way back from the elbow surgery he underwent Aug. 4 of last year, is expected to make his return from the 60-day injured list in September in a relief role.
Aug 26, 2022
Signs short extension
Glasnow (elbow) signed a two-year extension with the Rays on Friday, keeping him under contract until 2024 instead of 2023 as previously expected, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow had been due for one more year of arbitration before hitting the open market, but he'll now remain a Ray for two more seasons. The fact that the Rays agreed to the deal now, rather than over the offseason, seemingly indicates they feel good about his recovery from Tommy John surgery, which is nearly complete. Glasnow is expected to begin a rehab assignment soon, which would give him time to pitch in the majors before the end of the regular season, albeit potentially as a reliever. The extension means Glasnow will remain in a good pitcher's park with the team that helped him break out for one year longer than expected.
Aug 23, 2022
Rehab assignment coming soon
Glasnow (elbow) threw his second live batting practice session Tuesday and will face hitters once more before likely beginning a minor-league rehab assignment, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow reiterated after Tuesday's workout that his surgically repaired right elbow feels good, and he remains optimistic that he'll return from the 60-day injured list this season. According to Topkin, Glasnow's fastball topped out at around 97 miles per hour Tuesday, and while he appears to have recaptured his pre-surgery velocity, regaining command of all of his pitches may prove to be the greater challenge. If Glasnow does meet his goal of pitching for the Rays in 2022, it'll almost certainly come as a reliever, given that he doesn't seem to have enough time at this stage of the season to build up a starter.
Aug 21, 2022
Throws first live BP session
Glasnow (elbow) threw 20 pitches in a live batting practice session Saturday at the Rays' complex in Port Charlotte, Fla., Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Manager Kevin Cash noted that Glasnow felt good while facing hitters for the first time since undergoing Tommy John surgery just over a year ago. The right-hander will likely repeat the activity at least one or two more times before the Rays map out a rehab assignment for Glasnow, who will likely be deployed out of the bullpen if he makes his way back from the 60-day injured list this season.
Aug 8, 2022
Potential for 2022 return
Glasnow (elbow) hasn't yet been ruled out for the remainder of the 2022 season, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Topkin notes that Glasnow still has at least a few important hurdles to clear before getting the green light, but he's looked strong in recent side sessions and the club is entertaining the idea of a return in 2022. "The chance is not zero," said pitching coach Kyle Snyder. "Let's say that much. It's pretty remarkable just to see where he is." Glasnow has been throwing off a mound for more than a month now, and Snyder mentioned that the right-hander is throwing 98-99 mph and successfully executing his breaking pitches. Despite this, he would still need to see significant action in the minors pitching against live hitters before gaining clearance to return even in a bullpen role.
Jun 28, 2022
Gets back on mound
Glasnow (elbow) threw a bullpen session Tuesday, his first since undergoing Tommy John surgery last August, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow's ability to get back on a mound represents an important milestone in his recovery from elbow surgery, but he'll still face an uphill battle to make a return from the 60-day injured list in 2022. Slowly but steadily, he'll likely increase the intensity and frequency of his bullpen sessions before advancing to the next stage of his rehab program: facing live hitters.
Apr 28, 2022
Throwing from 90 feet
Glasnow (elbow/ankle) has progressed to throwing from 90 feet, CJ Haddad of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow is recovering from both ankle and elbow surgeries, though he is feeling well in both regards. Glasnow is still a minimum of several months away from returning to a big-league mound, but it's a positive that his recovery from Tommy John surgery remains on track.
Mar 22, 2022
Steers clear of arbitration
Glasnow and the Rays agreed Tuesday on a one-year, $5.1 million contract to avoid arbitration, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Though he's expected to miss most, if not all, of the 2022 season, Glasnow will get a $1.1 million pay increase after he had performed at a Cy Young-worthy level (2.66 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 123:27 K:BB over 88 innings) through 14 starts in 2021 before he eventually required Tommy John surgery for his right elbow. Glasnow, who also underwent surgery last week to remove loose bodies from his right ankle, is expected to rest for the next 2-to-3 weeks before restarting his throwing program. Before having his ankle scoped, Glasnow had been playing catch off flat ground from about 75 feet three times a week, according to Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network.
Mar 20, 2022
Recovering from ankle procedure
Glasnow (elbow) underwent arthroscopic surgery to remove loose bodies from his right ankle Friday and is expected to resume his throwing program in 2-to-3 weeks, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow is recovering from Tommy John surgery in early August, and the ankle procedure should only push back his throwing program by a few weeks. The 28-year-old officially landed on the 60-day injured list Thursday and could make a return late in the season, though it's not guaranteed he'll pitch in 2022.
Mar 17, 2022
Returns to 60-day injured list
Glasnow (elbow) was placed on the 60-day injured list, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.
ANALYSIS
The move was an inevitable one, as Glasnow is still recovering from Tommy John surgery, a procedure he underwent in early August. He has a chance to return in 2022, but that won't happen until very late in the season if it happens at all. His 40-man roster spot will be taken by new signing Jason Adam.
Mar 7, 2022
Throwing again
Glasnow's (elbow) agent, Joel Wolfe, said in late February that his client has began a throwing program, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Due to the MLB lockout, Glasnow is unable to train with the Rays or have his rehab monitored by team doctors, so updates from the pitchers and his agent regarding where he stands in his recovery from his Tommy John surgery may be all the news that fantasy players will have available until labor peace is reached. Even though Glasnow's Aug. 4 procedure to address a partially torn UCL was characterized as more of a hybrid surgery that could shorten his recovery timeline compared to typically Tommy John cases, he's still expected to miss most, if not all, of the 2022 season.
Aug 4, 2021
Undergoes successful surgery
Glasnow underwent successful Tommy John surgery Wednesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow was initially hoping that he'd be able to return in 2021 after he suffered a partial UCL tear in mid-June, but he'll likely be sidelined until 2023 following Wednesday's procedure. Prior to his injury, the 27-year-old put up a 2.66 ERA and 0.93 WHIP in 88 innings across 14 starts in 2021.
Aug 3, 2021
Tommy John surgery scheduled
Glasnow (elbow) will undergo Tommy John surgery Wednesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
It was reported over the weekend the right-hander was expected to require the procedure, and that's now been confirmed after one final evaluation. Glasnow will go under the knife Wednesday, which will end his 2021 campaign and sidelined him for most, if not all, of 2022.
Jul 31, 2021
Likely requires Tommy John surgery
Glasnow (elbow) will likely require Tommy John surgery next week, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow suffered a partial UCL tear in mid-June, but he threw off a mound Friday and was optimistic that he would be able to return sometime in 2021. While Passan reports that there's a "small chance" doctors will find a path toward rehab rather than surgery, the right-hander would miss most or all of the 2022 campaign if he ultimately undergoes the procedure.
Jul 30, 2021
Throws off mound
Glasnow (elbow) threw off a mound Friday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow's session came while he was in Texas for a follow-up visit regarding his elbow. He's been optimistic for a while now that he'll return before the end of the season, and he's making steady progress, though when exactly he'll make it back is not yet clear.
Jul 19, 2021
Continues to feel good
Glasnow (elbow) continues to feel good after playing light catch, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow was able to resume playing light catch last week after he was shut down for approximately four weeks, but he still doesn't have a timetable to return to mound work. The right-hander is optimistic that he'll be able to return in 2021, and his return timetable could come into focus when he resumes throwing off a mound.
Jul 15, 2021
Playing light catch
Glasnow (elbow) has resumed playing light catch, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow was diagnosed with a partial UCL tear and a flexor strain in his right elbow in mid-June, and he was shut down for approximately four weeks while he received treatment. However, the right-hander has been optimistic about his status, and it's encouraging that he's now resumed light throwing after his shutdown. Glasnow doesn't yet have a timetable to return, but a better idea of his status could come into focus once he's able to increase his intensity.
Jun 26, 2021
Expresses optimism about '21 return
Glasnow (elbow) expressed that he was "pretty optimistic about being able to come back sooner than later" based on how his arm is currently feeling in an appearance on Chris Rose's Rotation podcast Friday, the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
While it's naturally only Glasnow's opinion, the sentiment is nevertheless encouraging for fantasy managers and the Rays alike. The right-hander added that he felt he would "probably be back before the playoffs and then be able to play in the playoffs" based on his current condition, but a much more tangible prognosis will likely be possible once Glasnow starts the process of throwing again sometime in July.
Jun 18, 2021
Receives encouraging timeline
Manager Kevin Cash said Friday that Glasnow (elbow) will be shut down for four weeks while he receives treatment, Steve Carney of Sports Radio 620 WDAE reports.
ANALYSIS
The skipper seemed encouraged by the latest update for the club's ace right-hander, as it looks like Glasnow could resume throwing in a month's time. If that timeline holds, he'd need about four more weeks to get all the way stretched out before returning to the rotation. Obviously, a lot of developments will take place between now and mid-July, but given Cash's update, a mid-to-late August return is not out of the question for the 27-year-old.
Jun 17, 2021
Transferred to 60-day IL
Glasnow (elbow) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Thursday, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow's move to the 60-day IL is simply procedural after he recently underwent an MRI that revealed a partial UCL tear as well as a flexor strain in his right elbow. The right-hander is currently planning to rest rather than undergoing a surgical procedure, but he'll still miss extended time due to the injury.
Jun 15, 2021
MRI reveals partial UCL tear
Glasnow was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday after an MRI revealed a partial UCL tear as well as a flexor strain in his right elbow, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
UCL tears frequently lead to Tommy John surgery, though the plan for now is for Glasnow to attempt to heal through rest rather than a surgical procedure. The timing of the injury makes that a sensible plan for the Rays, as undergoing the surgery now would already have a fairly high chance of ruling their ace out for all of next year, so they can afford to wait a few months to see how the rest and rehab plan goes without costing him any more games. The injury is a huge blow to Tampa Bay and to those with Glasnow on their fantasy teams, as the righty owns a dominant 2.66 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 36.2 percent strikeout rate through 14 starts.
Jun 15, 2021
Getting MRI
Glasnow (elbow) is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Tuesday, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow was diagnosed with right elbow inflammation when he was pulled after the fourth inning of his start Monday against the White Sox. Though Glasnow noted after the game that he didn't feel any "crazy pain" in his elbow before departing, the Rays will send him in for an MRI to ensure he's not dealing with a more significant injury that anticipated. Glasnow tentatively lines up to make his next start Saturday in Seattle.
Jun 14, 2021
Diagnosed with elbow inflammation
Glasnow left Monday's start against Chicago due to right elbow inflammation, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
This is concerning news for one of Tampa Bay's top hurlers, though it remains unclear if he'll require a trip to the injured list. The team should know more about a timetable for his return after further evaluation.
Jun 14, 2021
Exits with potential injury
Glasnow was removed from Monday's game against the White Sox after just 53 pitches, Steve Carney of Sports Radio 620 WDAE reports.
ANALYSIS
The team has yet to disclose an injury, but Glasnow was spotted flexing and stretching out his right arm before being removed. It's also concerning that he was shut down for the night after just four innings of work. The Rays likely won't offer up an explanation until after the contest.
Jun 8, 2021
Tallies fifth win
Glasnow (5-2) allowed one earned run on six hits and one walk while striking out 11 across seven innings to earn the win Tuesday against the Nationals.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow allowed his lone run in the third inning, but otherwise dominated the Nationals. He induced an exceptional 27 swinging strikes on 114 total pitches while on his way to posting double-digit strikeouts for seventh time in 13 starts this season. Also impressive has been Glasnow's ability to work deep into games, as he's worked at least seven innings in four of his last five outings. For the season, Glasnow has maintained a 2.57 ERA with 117 strikeouts across 84 total frames.
Jun 5, 2021
Start pushed back
Glasnow will start Tuesday against the Nationals instead of Sunday against the Rangers, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow is not dealing with any injury, but the Rays are just attempting to manage his workload. The move should also allow another day of rest for Ryan Yarbrough, who threw a complete game Thursday. Sunday will be a bullpen game for the Rays, with the starter yet to be announced.
Jun 2, 2021
Racks up eight more strikeouts
Glasnow allowed three earned rune on four hits and two walks while striking out eight across seven innings Tuesday against the Yankees. He did not factor into the decision.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow battled wildness in the third inning, as he walked two and also threw a wild pitch to force in two runs. However, he otherwise turned in another strong outing, generating 15 swinging strikes on 100 total pitches. Through 12 starts, Glasnow has completed seven or more innings on five occasions while striking out eight or more in nine outings. Overall, he has maintained a 2.69 ERA with 106 strikeouts across 77 frames.
May 27, 2021
Punches out 11
Glasnow allowed three hits and two walks while striking out 11 across eight scoreless innings Wednesday against the Royals. He did not factor into the decision.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow dominated the Royals and began his outing by retiring 13 consecutive batters. He's now racked up double-digit strikeouts in six of his 11 starts this season, with his effort Wednesday backed by 25 swinging strikes across 102 total pitches. Glasnow now owns a 2.57 ERA with 98 strikeouts across 70 innings for the season.
May 22, 2021
Escapes with no-decision
Glasnow didn't factor into the decision in Friday's 9-7 extra-innings win over the Blue Jays, coughing up five runs on nine hits and a walk over 4.2 innings. He struck out two.
ANALYSIS
The Jays jumped on Glasnow for four runs through the first three innings, but the Rays were able to tie it up after he exited and get the right-hander off the hook for the loss. The two strikeouts were his lowest total of the year by far -- he hadn't fanned fewer than seven in any of his previous nine outings -- while the five earned runs tied his season high. Despite the speed bump, Glasnow will take a 2.90 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 87:21 K:BB through 62 innings into his next outing.
May 14, 2021
Fans 10 in no-decision
Glasnow allowed two runs on five hits and a walk while striking out 10 over eight innings in a no-decision versus the Mets on Friday.
ANALYSIS
The only damage against Glasnow came in the form of a two-run home run by Jonathan Villar in the fifth inning. Friday was the fifth time in nine starts Glasnow has racked up double-digit strikeouts. Unfortunately, he's given up seven long balls in his last five outings. For the season, the right-hander has a 2.35 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 85:20 K:BB across 57.1 innings. He remains at 4-2 heading into next week's start versus Baltimore.
May 9, 2021
Takes loss against Oakland
Glasnow (4-2) was tagged with the loss Saturday against the Athletics after allowing three runs on two hits and four walks while fanning 11 across 5.2 innings.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow couldn't complete the sixth inning and while the 11 strikeouts were nice, he still issued at least four walks for the third time over his last five starts. Glasnow has slowed down a bit after an excellent start to the campaign and has given up three or more runs in three of his last four starts, but he's still posted a strong 39:12 K:BB during that four-game stretch. He's tabbed to take the ball next week at home against the Mets.
May 4, 2021
Fans eight in victory
Glasnow (4-1) yielded three runs on four hits and four walks over six innings Monday, striking out eight and earning a win over the Angels.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow rolled through five scoreless innings before he coughed up two homers in the sixth to Shohei Ohtani and Anthony Rendon. After he issued just three walks in 19.2 innings to begin the season, the flamethrowing righty has now walked 12 batters in 24 innings over his last four starts. Still, he's sporting a strong 2.06 ERA and 64:15 K:BB. Glasnow is projected to face the Athletics on the road this weekend.

Blanks A's for third win
Glasnow (3-1) picked up the win in Wednesday's 2-0 victory over the A's, giving up five hits and two walks over seven scoreless innings while striking out 10.
ANALYSIS
It was another dominant performance for the 27-year-old right-hander, who threw 67 of 97 pitches for strikes while fanning double-digit batters for the third time in his last four starts. Glasnow will take a sparkling 1.67 ERA and 56:11 K:BB through 37.2 innings into his next start.
Apr 24, 2021
Whiffs 10 in loss
Glasnow (2-1) allowed five runs on five hits and two walks while striking out 10 in six innings to take the loss against the Blue Jays on Friday.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow struck out the first two batters he faced Friday, but he allowed the Blue Jays to put up four runs in a two-out rally in the first inning. While the Rays brought the game within one run in the bottom of the fifth inning, Glasnow gave up a solo home run in the top of the sixth and was ultimately charged with his first loss of 2021. The righty has posted a 2.05 ERA and 0.75 WHIP with 46 strikeouts in 30.2 innings across his first five starts of the season. He lines up to make his next start at home against the Athletics on Wednesday.
Apr 18, 2021
Notches second victory
Glasnow (2-0) earned the win Saturday against the Yankees after allowing one run on two hits with seven strikeouts and four walks over five innings.
ANALYSIS
The 27-year-old was a bit wild and required 105 pitches for 15 outs, preventing him from working deeper into the contest. Still, it was another strong performance from Glasnow, who has surrendered only two runs over 24.2 innings to open the season. The right-hand should match up with the Blue Jays next weekend.
Apr 13, 2021
Dominates Rangers in win
Glasnow (1-0) picked up the win Monday, allowing two hits and a walk over 7.2 scoreless innings while striking out a career-high 14 in a 1-0 victory over the Rangers.
ANALYSIS
Per Adam Berry of MLB.com, the right-hander produced a stunning 27 swings and misses, the most of any Tampa Bay hurler in a game since pitch tracking began in 2008, and Glasnow's 7.2 innings was also a career high. He'll take a dazzling 0.46 ERA and 29:3 K:BB through 19.2 innings into his next outing, set for Saturday on the road against the Yankees.
Apr 7, 2021
Punches out nine
Glasnow allowed one earned run on four hits while walking two and striking out nine across six innings Tuesday against the Red Sox. He did not factor into the decision.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow allowed a run to score in the first inning on a wild pitch, but mostly dominated the Red Sox from there. While his ability to generate whiffs is well established, Glasnow was able to stay in the strike zone effectively by beginning 14 of the 24 batters he faced with a strike and racking up 60 strikes on 97 total pitches. Though he has yet to get in the win column, Glasnow has a strong 15:2 K:BB across 12 innings and two starts to begin the campaign. He's projected to draw his next start Monday at home against the Rangers.
Apr 1, 2021
Dominate in no-decision
Glasnow took a no-decision during Thursday's Opening Day win after holding the Marlins scoreless over six frames, striking out six while allowing just one hit and no walks.
ANALYSIS
In what turned into a pitcher's duel with Sandy Alcantara, Glasnow was nothing short of brilliant in his first start of the year. The 27-year-old had a new weapon on display, adding a slider into his arsenal. In fact, his newly acquired slider accounted for 26 of his pitches, allowing him more versatility while cranking up the speed and hitting over 100 mph on his fastball. The right-hander, who finished spring action play with a solid 27:7 K:BB across 14.2 innings, will take the mound again Tuesday at Boston.
Mar 28, 2021
Dominates in final spring start
Glasnow compiled 10 strikeouts while allowing three hits, two walks and uncorking a wild pitch over five innings in a Grapefruit League win over the Twins on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow worked up to 79 pitches in his final spring start before taking the ball Opening Day against the Marlins on Thursday and put forth what may have been his most dominant of his four spring outings. The right-hander finished Grapefruit League play with a stellar 27:7 K:BB across just 14.2 innings and has added a slider to an already highly effective fastball and curveball, laying the foundation for what might be his best season yet.
Mar 23, 2021
Slider effective in intrasquad game
Glasnow utilized the slider he's been working on developing this spring with great effectiveness during an 85-pitch outing in an intrasquad game Monday, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports. "Today was by far the best day my slider's been -- like, by a million," Glasnow said. "So I'm super comfortable with it. ... And it was just easier to throw for strikes, too. Just like a little shift, pretty easy, so I'm encouraged by it."
ANALYSIS
The Opening Day starter also received accolades from pitching coach Kyle Snyder, who oversaw the outing, for his fastball, changeup and curveball, but the slider stood out due to the low 90s velocity Glasnow achieved with it following a tweak on his grip. The pitch also displayed more horizontal movement on it Monday than it had during a recent start against Atlanta, and Glasnow will have one more chance to refine it ahead of the regular season Saturday in his final Grapefruit League start.
Mar 18, 2021
Seven Ks for second straight start
Glasnow recorded seven strikeouts but also allowed four earned runs on six hits and a walk over four innings in a Grapefruit League win over the Pirates on Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
The newly minted Opening Day starter biggest mistake came in the form of a two-run home run by Bryan Reynolds, but he was able to miss plenty of bats for the second straight start. Glasnow also stretched out to 76 pitches (50 strikes), keeping him right on track to open the regular season spearheading the Rays' rotation.
Mar 17, 2021
Gets Opening Day nod
Manager Kevin Cash announced Wednesday that Glasnow will start Opening Day against the Marlins, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
It was expected that Glasnow would start the Rays' first game of the regular season, and Wednesday's announcement confirms he will do just that. Glasnow looked plenty ready to go in his last spring start, punching out seven batters over four scoreless frames. He will take the ball again Wednesday and likely once or twice more before the exhibition season comes to a close.
Mar 12, 2021
Dominates in Thursday start
Glasnow recorded seven strikeouts and allowed just a hit, a walk and a wild pitch over four scoreless innings during a Grapefruit League loss to the Braves on Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Adam Berry of MLB.com reports the right-hander was as dominant as his line implies, with Glasnow utilizing his four-pitch mix to retire 11 batters in a row at one point against a Braves lineup replete with regulars. The presumptive staff ace heading into 2021, Glasnow stretched out to 52 pitches (34 strikes) Thursday while consistently dealing his fastball in the 97 mph-99 mph range and keeping hitters off balance with the rest of his arsenal. "I felt really good. Timing was good. I think just incorporating the slider and the changeup made everything a lot easier," Glasnow said.
Mar 6, 2021
Saturday's matchup canceled
Glasnow will no longer start Saturday's spring game against Atlanta after the game was canceled due to inclement weather, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow's fastball touched 100 mph multiple times during his Grapefruit League debut Monday, but his second start of spring training will be pushed back due to rain. It's not yet clear when the right-hander will make his next appearance.
Mar 2, 2021
Pleased with spring debut
Glasnow came away pleased with his overall performance during his Grapefruit League debut against the Twins on Monday, an outing during which his fastball touched 100 mph multiple times, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports. "I'm a relatively slow starter. I just think it's more of getting a rhythm and getting back to that competition aspect," Glasnow said. "It was honestly just really good to be out there again, to feel that again and then kind of figure out what you need to build on and then just go out and do i
ANALYSIS
Glasnow's final line was far from sparkling, as he gave up two runs on two hits with three walks across 1.2 innings. However, with his first pitch already clocking 99 mph and the towering right-hander proceeding to hit 100 mph on four occasions in the first inning alone, Glasnow had the look of the staff ace he's projected to be this coming season. He also reported encouraging results from the new hybrid cutter/slider he's been developing that was averaging 86-87 mph in Monday's appearance, and manager Kevin Cash wasn't fazed by some of Glasnow's second-inning control issues considering he was still locating the majority of his pitches around the strike zone.

Excels in first live BP
Glasnow was impressive during his first time facing hitters this spring Wednesday, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow threw 29 pitches overall to Ji-Man Choi, Joey Wendle, Yandy Diaz, Austin Meadows, Manuel Margot and Willy Adames, taking a simulated inning break after the first three batters. Glasnow came away particularly pleased with his comfort level and grip when deploying the new cutter/slider he's been working on and is looking forward to continuing to tweak it as spring training progresses. Meanwhile, manager Kevin Cash also noted how good the big right-hander's tempo and velocity was during the session, emphasizing he looked as good as he had during the postseason.
Feb 18, 2021
Working on new pitch
Glasnow has been working on a new pitch which he described as a slider or cutter, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow has almost exclusively used a fastball and a curveball over the last two seasons, throwing the two pitches over 95 percent of the time in both years while turning to his changeup very infrequently. He's turned into a very strong pitcher using mainly just those two offerings, but another option to keep hitters guessing could elevate him to a new level. Of course, the mere fact that Glasnow is working on the pitch doesn't imply that it will turn into a high-quality weapon.
Jan 15, 2021
Avoids arbitration
Glasnow signed a one-year, $4 million deal with the Rays on Friday to avoid arbitration, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
The 27-year-old is now officially under contract for 2021 after posting a 4.08 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 91:22 K:BB over 57.1 innings last season. Glasnow is Tampa Bay's clear ace entering spring training following the departure of Blake Snell.
Oct 26, 2020
Another postseason dud
Glasnow was the pitcher of record Sunday in the Rays' 4-2 loss to the Dodgers in Game 5 of the World Series after giving up four runs on six hits and three walks while striking out seven over five innings.
ANALYSIS
As per usual, the hard-throwing righty was able to miss bats at a decent clip with 16 swinging strikes among his 102 pitches, but command was once again an issue. That has been a recurring theme for Glasnow this postseason, as he's given up a home run in all but one of his six outings during the Rays' playoff run. Joc Pederson and Max Muncy took Glasnow deep Sunday, with the later long ball providing Dodgers starter Clayton Kershaw and the Los Angeles bullpen all the cushion they would need. Should the Rays extend the series to a Game 7 on Wednesday, Glasnow could be available to pitch an inning or two out of the bullpen.
Oct 20, 2020
Fans eight in loss
Glasnow (0-1) recorded the loss over 4.1 innings of work Tuesday, allowing six runs, three hits and six walks while striking out eight in a loss to the Dodgers in Game 1 of the World Series.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow fanned eight, yet he was unable to escape the fifth inning. His first mistake came on a two-run homer to Cody Bellinger and then he began to lose command in the fifth inning, allowing four more earned runs. The 27-year-old threw 58 of his 112 pitches for strikes and recorded a first-pitch strike on 13 of the 23 batters that he faced. The right-hander struggled in his World Series debut and will likely see action again as the series progresses.
Oct 15, 2020
Fails to complete sweep
Glasnow took the loss in Game 3 of the ALCS against the Astros on Wednesday, allowing four runs on eight hits while striking out five and walking two over six innings.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow wasn't terrible, though he was clearly below his usual standard. Half of the damage was done by Jose Altuve, who hit a solo homer in the first inning and an RBI double in the third. George Springer followed with a two-run shot in the fourth. Glasnow was called upon to throw 2.1 innings on just two days' rest in Game 5 of the ALDS and could theoretically be asked to do something similar in Game 7 of this series should the Rays fail to win either of the next two games.
Oct 8, 2020
Starting on short rest
Glasnow will start Game 5 of the ALDS against the Yankees on Friday, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow recorded 10 strikeouts in his start during the second game of the series against New York on Tuesday. Blake Snell was in line to start Game 5, but manager Kevin Cash instead elected to go with Glasnow. However, Snell should be available along with the rest of the bullpen if Glasnow runs into trouble Friday.
Oct 7, 2020
Fans 10 in win
Glasnow (1-0) allowed four runs across five innings of work. He gave four hits and three walks while striking out 10 recording the win Tuesday over the Yankees in Game 2 of the ALDS.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow looked sharp as he struck out 10 Yankees in Tuesday's victory. The 27-year-old's two mistakes were both on account of Giancarlo Stanton as he hit a solo shot in the second inning and a towering three-run homer in the fourth inning. The right-hander threw 58 of his 93 pitches for strikes and his next chance at taking the mound would be if the Rays can advance to the ALCS.
Oct 1, 2020
Cruises to Game 2 victory
Glasnow earned the win over the Blue Jays on Wednesday in Game 2 of the AL Wild Card Series. He allowed two runs on six hits and one walk while striking out eight over six innings.
ANALYSIS
Danny Jansen got to Glasnow for a pair of solo homers, accounting for all of Toronto's scoring in the loss. It's easy to forgive Glasnow for easing up a bit against the No. 9 hitter, especially considering the Rays got out to a 7-0 lead after two innings. Glasnow will get an extra day of rest before likely starting Game 2 of the American League Division Series.
Sep 26, 2020
Named Game 2 starter
Glasnow will start Game 2 of the Rays' Wild Card Series on Wednesday, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The right-hander is likeliest to face the Blue Jays, which he did not pitch against during the regular season. Glasnow will come into the postseason in good recent form, considering he posted a 2-0 record, 2.45 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 18:3 K:BB across 11 innings over his last two regular-season starts against the Orioles and Mets.
Sep 23, 2020
Wins third straight start
Glasnow (5-1) allowed two runs on three hits and a walk and struck out eight over six innings in a win over the Mets on Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow allowed solo shots to Andres Gimenez and Dominic Smith, but was otherwise dominant against the Mets. The right-handed Glasnow has won three straight starts and five of his last six outings. He now has a respectable 4.08 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 91:22 K:BB across 57.1 innings this season. Glasnow will look to keep up the solid work as a likely key member of the Rays' rotation in the playoffs.
Sep 19, 2020
Strikes out 10 in win
Glasnow (4-1) allowed one run on four hits (one home run) and two walks while striking out 10 across five innings as he earned his fourth win of the season Friday against the Orioles.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow came into Friday's contest averaging 14.2 K/9 and raised it to 14.6 by the time his night was over. He struck out the side in the first and the fourth en route to his second double-digit strikeout effort of the season. The hard-throwing righty's only mistake of the night was allowing an Austin Hays solo home run to begin the bottom half of the fourth. Glasnow seems to struggle a bit with keeping the baseball in the park as he's let up a homer in eight of his 10 starts but still sports a 4.21 ERA and an impressive 83:21 K:BB across 51.1 innings this season.
Sep 13, 2020
Hangs on for third win
Glasnow (3-1) picked up the win in Saturday's 5-4 victory over the Red Sox, giving up four runs on six hits and a walk over seven innings. He struck out seven.
ANALYSIS
It wasn't the sharpest outing of the year for the 27-year-old, but Glasnow got just enough offensive support to get the win. Part of the problem was his inability to control the running game -- the Red Sox went 6-for-6 on steal attempts against the battery of Glasnow and Michael Perez, a weakness other teams are sure to exploit down the stretch if they get the chance. The right-hander will take a 4.47 ERA and 73:19 K:BB through 46.1 innings into his next start Friday in Baltimore.
Sep 6, 2020
Fans nine in no-decision
Glasnow allowed three runs on four hits and three walks across 5.1 innings in Sunday's 5-4 win over the Marlins. He struck out nine and did not factor in the decision.
ANALYSIS
Despite throwing 105 pitches, Glasnow fell two outs short of tallying his third consecutive quality start. Although he certainly would have preferred to work deeper into the game, the right-hander was able to punch out nine Marlins. He has now fanned at least eight in each of his last five outings and will take a 4.35 ERA into his start against Boston on Friday.
Aug 31, 2020
Blanks Yankees in Monday's win
Glasnow (2-1) picked up the win Monday, allowing two hits and a walk over six scoreless innings in a 5-3 victory over the Yankees. He struck out nine.
ANALYSIS
The right-hander didn't give up a hit until his final inning of work, and even then Willy Adames nearly made a spectacular play in the hole to throw out DJ LeMahieu and keep the no-no alive. Glasnow tossed 55 of 87 pitches for strikes, and over his last three starts he's posted a stellar 1.93 ERA, 0.75 WHIP and 30:5 K:BB through 18.2 innings. He'll look to keep rolling in his next outing at home against the Marlins.
Aug 26, 2020
Dominates O's for first win
Glasnow (1-1) picked up the win Tuesday, allowing two runs on five hits and a walk over seven innings in a 4-2 victory over the Orioles. He struck out a season-high 13.
ANALYSIS
The right-hander settled down quickly after serving up a solo shot to Renato Nunez in the first inning, and Glasnow recorded his first quality start of the season in addition to his first win and first double-digit strikeout performance. He threw a whopping 72 of his 96 pitches for strikes in the dominant outing, and the 27-year-old seems to be righting the ship after a shaky beginning to 2020. Glasnow will carry a 5.14 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 48:14 K:BB through 28 innings into his next start Sunday in Miami.
Aug 19, 2020
Eight strikeouts
Glasnow allowed two earned runs on two hits and three walks while striking out eight across 5.2 innings Wednesday against the Yankees. He did not factor into the decision.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow turned in his longest start of the season, needing 88 pitches to retire 17 hitters. The major damage against him came on a solo home run by Luke Voit in the third inning, though Glasnow largely stymied the Yankees' lineup on the strength of 23 called strikes and nine swinging strikes. Walks were still a problem for Glasnow, and he now owns a 5.6 BB/9 for the season. Still, he'll look to build on this relatively positive outing in his next start, currently projected to come Monday against Toronto.
Aug 13, 2020
Another short outing
Glasnow allowed five earned runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out eight across four innings Thursday against the Red Sox. He did not factor into the decision.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow was given 10 runs to support his endeavor to earn his first win, but he failed to pitch efficiently enough to qualify. Positively, he kept the ball in the yard and racked up strikeouts. However, he surrendered five extra-base hits and regularly worked deep into counts while racking up his pitch count. Glasnow has an incredible 15.9 K/9 through 15.1 innings this season, but that is balanced by a 5.9 BB/9 and 1.8 HR/9. He has also yet to complete five innings of work in any of his four outings, but he'll look to change that his next time through the rotation Tuesday at the Yankees.
Aug 8, 2020
Fails to finish third inning
Glasnow (0-1) took the loss in the first half of Saturday's doubleheader against the Yankees, allowing four runs on five hits in just 2.2 innings of work, striking out five while walking three.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow has failed to pitch long enough to earn a win in any of his three outings this season, though this time that was due to poor performance rather than by design. He matched Gerrit Cole with a pair of scoreless innings to start the game, getting out of a bases-loaded jam in the second, but he allowed a two-run homer to Mike Ford and a two-run double to Gio Urshela in the third, forcing him out of the game. He now owns a 5.56 ERA through his first three starts, with his 37.3 percent strikeout rate being offset by 15.7 percent walk rate and a 30.0 percent HR/FB rate.
Aug 2, 2020
Among toughest matchups in majors
Glasnow, who allowed two earned runs on three hits and three walks while recording five strikeouts over 4.2 innings in a no-decision against the Orioles on Saturday, is developing into one of the most uncomfortable pitchers for hitters to face, Matt Kelly of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
As Saturday's line indicates, Glasnow still has some work to do on his control, which has often been an albatross for his first four seasons coming into 2020. However, Kelly points out the combination of Glasnow's 97 mph fastball with his towering 6-foot-8 frame and expansive wingspan make him quite the intimidating sight from a batter's box view. The right-hander's 7.6 feet of average extension from the pitching rubber to the plate before uncorking a pitch ranked tops in the majors last season by a comfortable margin, and his four-pitch arsenal, which includes a fastball that can either ride high in the zone or cut to his glove side, makes life all that more difficult on hitters. Glasnow's struggles Saturday largely stemmed from poor location, but he offered a glimpse of how dominant he can be by racking up nine strikeouts and allowing just an earned run on a solo home run over four innings to the Braves in his first start of the season Monday.
Jul 27, 2020
Dominant in short outing
Glasnow didn't factor into the decision in Monday's 14-5 romp over Atlanta, allowing one run on one hit and two walks over four innings while striking out nine.
ANALYSIS
The Rays gave him plenty of run support, but Glasnow was on a restricted pitch count and got pulled after 72 pitches (45 strikes), denying him the win despite his dominance. The right-hander had similar issues last season when he was healthy, averaging barely five innings over his 12 starts, but the 1.78 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 11.3 K/9 he posted in 2019 highlight his sky-high upside.
Jul 26, 2020
Ready for Monday's start
Glasnow will take it one inning at a time in Monday's home start against the Braves, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
He threw three innings in his final exhibition start in camp and was just so-so, as he struck out five but walked four. It sounds like Glasnow could theoretically go five-plus innings if he's on, but it also wouldn't be surprising if he didn't go deep enough to qualify for a win in his first start of the season. He lines up for a two-step, with his second start of the week coming in Baltimore over the weekend.
Jul 22, 2020
So-so in final camp start
Glasnow allowed two hits and four walks over three innings while recording five strikeouts during Monday's intrasquad start, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. "The feel for things just wasn't there today. I just couldn't get my curveball over, and it let guys sit on the heater," Glasnow said. "But I'm pleased with where I'm at."
ANALYSIS
As his line implies, Glasnow was a mixed bag in his intrasquad duel versus Blake Snell, with the big right-hander clearly fooling some of his teammates but also experiencing some trouble with location. One of the misplaced offerings resulted in the hardest-hit ball of the contest, a home run by Ji-Man Choi to right field. Glasnow lines up to start either the third or fourth game of the season against the Blue Jays next Sunday or Monday, and manager Kevin Cash attributed some of Glasnow's control issues Monday to the "workload restraints" of the shutdown and summer camp.
Jul 14, 2020
Reveals past positive test
Glasnow clarified Tuesday that his late arrival to camp was in fact due to COVID-19, which he tested positive for during intake testing, Josh Tolentino of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow didn't arrive at camp until Tuesday but was already able to throw 49 pitches in a simulated game. He told reporters that he didn't experience much more than mild cold symptoms and was able to keep throwing while quarantined. He expects to be ready for the start of the season, though it's likely that he'll be on an least a slightly limited workload in his first outing or two.
Jul 14, 2020
Throws 49 pitches in sim game
Glasnow threw 49 pitches in a simulated game Tuesday, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow wasn't able to report to camp until Tuesday for undisclosed reasons, but it doesn't appear as though he's fallen behind while away from the team. He struck out four batters in his 3.1 innings of work, throwing 28 of his 49 pitches for strikes. If he ramps up by about 15 pitches per outing, he could be ready to throw approximately 80 pitches in his first start of the year.
Jul 14, 2020
Arrives at camp
Glasnow (undisclosed) was spotted on the field Tuesday at the Rays' summer camp workout, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow's appearance is his first at Rays camp since the team resumed training July 3. A reason behind his absence was never provided, but now that he's back with the team, Glasnow will have 10 days to get his arm conditioned for starting duty before the Rays begin their season July 24 versus the Blue Jays. While Glasnow is expected to serve as the team's No. 3 starter in 2020, his delayed arrival at camp could prompt the Rays to push him to the back of the rotation schedule or skip one his turns entirely as he looks to build up his pitch count.
Jul 7, 2020
Not yet seen at workouts
Glasnow has not been observed at any of the Rays' summer camp workouts at Tropicana Field, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow was reported to be ready to take on a regular-season workload already in the days leading up to summer camp, but he's now apparently been a non-participant for four days. The towering right-hander is due for a prominent rotation role in the coming season, although it remains to be seen if his ongoing absence is ultimately illness-related.
Jul 2, 2020
No limitations expected in '20
Glasnow shouldn't be limited in terms of his workload during the truncated 2020 season, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow has reportedly been one of the Rays' most diligent players during the shutdown of spring training, throwing regularly in the Arizona area. The big southpaw had declared himself "ready right now" for the regular season back in early June, and he reiterated last week that he could "pitch five or six innings right now". While there certainly seems to be a bit of embellishment at play in that proclamation, Glasnow could well be one of the better-conditioned pitchers that's evaluated first-hand by the Rays coaching staff when summer camp opens Friday, and the shortened regular season should also help ensure Glasnow is unleashed during his starts once the regular season begins.
Jun 25, 2020
On way back from Arizona
Glasnow is in the process of returning to the Tampa area from his Arizona home ahead of the Rays' upcoming summer camp, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow has been working out on his own in Arizona and apparently doing a very good job of it, considering pitching coach Kyle Snyder described the towering southpaw as "ready right now" for the regular season weeks ago. While there might have been at least a slight degree of embellishment in Snyder's comments given the restricted conditions players have been subjected to, Glasnow should have plenty of time to further condition himself for a late-July start to the 2020 campaign.
Jun 7, 2020
Considered regular-season ready
Glasnow is "ready right now" to begin the regular season according to Rays pitching coach Kyle Snyder, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow was not one of the pitchers who had a chance to throw off a mound at Tropicana Field on Friday under Snyder's supervision. However, the towering southpaw has been able to throw regular bullpen sessions in his local area while spring training has been suspended and has kept in regular contact with his pitching coach. Snyder is evidently impressed with the ongoing work Glasnow has been putting in to make such a proclamation, and the coach's optimism seems supported by the 26-year-old's on-field results. Glasnow followed up a stellar 1.78 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 76:14 K:BB across 12 starts last season with a pair of scoreless appearances in Grapefruit League action before play was paused.
Apr 5, 2020
Considered ace-caliber arm
Glasnow is tabbed as a potential future ace of the Rays' staff by team beat writer Juan Toribio, Bill Ladson of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow was once considered the top prospect in the Pirates' organization, and his performance in an injury-shortened 2019 served as a tangible reminder of why. The towering right-hander posted a 1.78 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 76:14 K:BB across 12 starts and followed it up with a pair of scoreless appearances in Grapefruit League play this spring before play was suspended. Naturally, southpaw Blake Snell is also considered top-of-the-rotation material for the Rays, but Toribio notes Glasnow was arguably the AL's best pitcher over the first six weeks of last season and could ultimately be the team's most effective pitcher over the long term if he remains healthy.
Mar 13, 2020
Works sim game Tuesday
Glasnow threw 50 pitches across three innings in a simulated game Tuesday, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow worked with Mike Zunino as a battery mate and faced Nate Low, Kevan Smith and Daniel Robertson during his three frames. The right-hander threw 27 pitches for strikes in what would turn out to be his final tune-up for the regular season now that the remainder of spring training has been cancelled due to concerns over the COVID-19 virus. Glasnow finished Grapefruit League play with 2.2 scoreless innings during which he allowed three hits and posted a 5:1 K:BB across a pair of starts.

Solid in first start
Glasnow started Thursday's Grapefruit League split-squad win over the Tigers, firing a scoreless first inning during which he allowed a hit and a walk while recording two strikeouts.
ANALYSIS
Manager Kevin Cash came away impressed with his young right-hander's performance, particularly the command Glasnow displayed with his fastball. Marc Topkin and Mari Faiello of the Tampa Bay Times report the only other pitch in his repertoire the 26-year-old utilized Thursday was the curveball, as Glasnow stayed away from both the changeup and splitter across his 19 pitches. Glasnow was pleased with his time on the mound, including some slight tweaks to his delivery he's been working on this offseason. He'll have a chance to stretch out to multiple innings in his next start, which is likely to come in the early portion of next week.

Impresses in batting practice
Glasnow impressed in his first time facing live hitters Wednesday, a session where he threw 25 pitches, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports. "He's worked hard," said manager Kevin Cash. "I was impressed. The effort level was good but it also was under control. You could tell by the way he was throwing so many strikes and his misses were just, just misses. You could tell by the hitters reactions that the stuff was coming out really, really hot."
ANALYSIS
Glasnow mostly threw four-seam fastballs while facing Joey Wendle, Yoshitomo Tsutsugo and Hunter Renfroe during the session, but he also included a couple of changeups. Glasnow had reportedly decided to eliminate the pitch this coming season due to discomfort when throwing it, but after tweaking his mechanics this offseason, the right-hander is ready to deploy it once again. Glasnow has also been working on a splitter, and although he didn't utilize the pitch Wednesday, there appears to be a strong chance Glasnow enters the regular season with a four-pitch arsenal that also includes his four-seamer and curveball.

Shaking up pitch mix
Glasnow (wrist) has scrapped his changeup and has been working on a splitter as his new third pitch, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow almost exclusively used his fastball and curveball last season, throwing his changeup just 3.5 percent of the time. It would be premature to alter Glasnow's projection based purely on the news that he's learning a new pitch, but an altered pitch mix certainly brings the potential for a new level of performance. It's not effectiveness but rather health that's the worry for Glasnow, however. He posted an incredible 1.78 ERA and a 33.0 percent strikeout rate last season, but that came in just 12 starts. There's already some cause to worry about his health for the upcoming season, as he underwent a wrist procedure in November, but he's expected to be on schedule for the start of camp.

On schedule after wrist procedure
Glasnow underwent a median nerve decompression procedure on his right wrist in November but has been throwing without issues and isn't expected to miss any time at the start of spring training, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Any surgery is a potential worry, and that's doubly true for a procedure on a pitcher's arm, but this particular surgery doesn't appear to be a major issue. Glasnow's health can't be fully trusted after forearm problems limited him to just 12 starts last season, and while this news adds at least a bit of extra risk, the righty can calm any potential fears by looking normal at the start of spring training.

Reaches deal to avoid arbitration
Glasnow and the Rays agreed to a one-year, $2,050,000 contract Friday, avoiding arbitration, freelance baseball writer Robert Murray reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow showed his promise in his first full season with the Rays in 2019, posting a 1.78 ERA and a 33.0 percent strikeout rate in 12 starts. A forearm strain cost him more than half his season, adding plenty of injury risk heading into the 2020 campaign, though he came back from it in September and looked as good as ever, striking out 21 batters while allowing just two runs in 12.1 innings of work.

Emerges healthy from first start
Glasnow's previously sore forearm tolerated a 41-pitch workload in his first start well and he tentatively lines up for his next turn Saturday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow ultimately only got through two frames on that pitch count due to some modest location issues, but of overriding importance is the fact he's experienced no residual issues in the aftermath. That sets up Glasnow to continue building up his arm, with a report earlier in the week indicating the Rays ideally hope to have him back to a conventional starter's workload by the time the regular season concludes.

Returns from injured list
Glasnow (forearm) was activated off the 10-day injured list as expected Sunday, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow was in the midst of a breakout season before being shut down with a forearm strain in mid-May, recording a 1.86 ERA and a 0.91 WHIP in eight starts. He struck out 30.1 percent of opposing batters while walking just 4.9 percent. He hasn't had the time to build up to a true starter's workload, but he's expected to open Sunday's game against the Blue Jays and throw two or three innings before handing the ball to the bullpen.
Sep 6, 2019
Ready to return Sunday
Glasnow (forearm) will be activated to start Sunday's game against the Blue Jays, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports. Glasnow is expected to pitch 2-to-3 innings.
ANALYSIS
The Rays were thinking about sending Glasnow for one more rehab start with Triple-A Durham, but they will instead activate Glasnow for the final game of the homestand. Trevor Richards, who was also a candidate for that start, could follow Glasnow in a piggyback role. Glasnow was on a brilliant run to start the year, posting a 1.86 ERA and 0.91 WHIP in eight starts before going down with the forearm strain.

Bullpen to determine next step
Glasnow (forearm) will throw another bullpen session Thursday, Josh Tolentino of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
General manager Erik Neander said the team will make a decision regarding Glasnow's next step after seeing how he looks during Thursday's session. He worked up to 33 pitches in a rehab appearance Tuesday with Triple-A Durham, and it sounds like if Glasnow looks good during Thursday's bullpen session he could be activated from the injured list. It is unclear what role Glasnow will occupy upon his activation, but he could be used as a primary pitcher following an opener.

Feels good after latest rehab game
Glasnow (forearm) was in the Rays' clubhouse prior to Tuesday's doubleheader and reported feeling "really good" following Monday night's rehab appearance, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow worked up to 33 pitches in the appearance, which was a high-water mark for him since going down with his forearm strain May 10. The right-hander remains unsure whether activation or another rehab appearance with Triple-A Durham or Double-A Montgomery is his next step, but the fact his arm seemed to have tolerated the increased activity well is certainly a positive. "Really encouraged by his performance," manager Kevin Cash said. "We haven't decided yet, we're still talking through it. We were just thrilled Glas got in the two innings or whatever it was [Monday]. [He] felt good. Everybody said the stuff looked good."

Misses bats in latest rehab outing
Glasnow (forearm) fired 1.1 scoreless innings in which he allowed two hits and two walks while recording three strikeouts in Triple-A Durham's loss to Gwinnett on Monday.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow was making his second and likely rehab appearance for the Bulls, and due to some control issues, he stretched his arm out to 33 pitches. Glasnow's forearm seems to be back to full strength, with Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reporting the right-hander's fastball was consistently in the 97-99 mph range. Glasnow is expected to serve as a multi-inning asset at the big-league level for the remainder of the campaign, although whether that work will come as a primary pitcher following an opener or as a traditional starter on an innings limit remains to be seen.
Aug 31, 2019
Next rehab outing coming Monday
Manager Kevin Cash said Glasnow (forearm) will make his next rehab appearance with Triple-A Durham on Monday, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow is scheduled to pitch two innings for Durham after breezing through an inning of work during his first outing with the Bulls on Friday. It sounds like the right-hander could rejoin the Rays as early as next weekend, depending on how he emerges from his upcoming rehab appearance. Once healthy, Glasnow is expected to work as a starter, though likely in shorter stints given he won't be fully stretched out.
Aug 31, 2019
Solid in first rehab appearance
Glasnow (forearm) fired a scoreless first inning in Triple-A Durham's win over Gwinnett on Friday, allowing no hits and one walk.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow needed a scant eight pitches to get through the one frame, so his first rehab appearance wasn't much of a litmus test. However, an uneventful return to the mound is certainly a positive after such a long layoff, and Glasnow will continue to build his arm up in subsequent appearances until he's ready to return to the majors as a reliever for the balance of the campaign.
Aug 29, 2019
Rehab appearance moves to Durham
Glasnow (forearm) will make a rehab appearance at Triple-A Durham on Friday, Josh Tolentino of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow was originally scheduled to make his first rehab appearance with High-A Charlotte, but weather prompted the Rays to move him to Durham, where he'll pitch one inning (or 20 pitches). The right-hander is scheduled to make another two or three appearances in the minors following Friday's before hopefully rejoining the Rays. Once healthy, Glasnow is expected to be deployed as a starter, though seeing as he won't have enough time to build up to a normal starter's workload, he'll likely be in store for abbreviated outings on days he pitches.
Aug 27, 2019
Rehab appearance coming Friday
Glasnow (forearm) will make a rehab appearance at High-A Charlotte on Friday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow's live batting practice session Tuesday apparently went well, and he's set to take the next step in his recovery from a forearm strain. He's expected to have time to return to the Rays in a multi-inning relief role but won't be able to build up to a starter's workload before the end of the season.
Aug 27, 2019
Tosses live batting practice
Glasnow (forearm) threw 15 pitches of live batting practice Tuesday, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow is making progress in his recovery from a forearm strain he suffered back in mid-May. It doesn't appear that he'll have time to build up to a proper starting workload by the end of the season, but he'll be able to fill a multi-inning relief role if his recovery continues to move forward without setbacks.
Aug 25, 2019
Live batting practice set for Tuesday
Glasnow (forearm) is scheduled to throw a live batting practice session Tuesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
ANALYSIS
The Rays' decision to clear Glasnow to face hitters signals that the right-hander checked out well after tossing a pair of bullpen sessions within the past week. If all goes well when he throws Tuesday, Glasnow could be cleared to begin a short rehab assignment before potentially returning from the 60-day injured list in the second week of September. Since Glasnow won't have enough time during his rehab program to build up for a starter's workload, he'll prepare to fill a multi-inning relief role once reinstated from the IL.
Aug 22, 2019
Throws second bullpen
Glasnow (forearm) threw his second bullpen session Wednesday, the Associated Press reports.
ANALYSIS
Glasnow has now thrown a pair of bullpens in the last three days, certainly an encouraging development. The right-hander is slated for at least one more session off the mound before progressing to live batting practice and a subsequent rehab assignment and appears to be on track for an early-September return as a reliever.
