Undergoes shoulder surgery
Pasquantino underwent surgery Wednesday to repair the torn labrum in his right shoulder, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Pasquantino was diagnosed with the season-ending labrum tear a couple weeks ago. He is aiming to be ready for the beginning of the 2024 campaign, though there probably won't be a clearer picture on his overall recovery timetable until the winter months. The 25-year-old first baseman finishes at a .247/.324/.437 slash line with nine homers and 26 RBI over 61 games in 2023.
Jun 18, 2023
Transferred to 60-day IL
Kansas City transferred Pasquantino (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Pasquantino will miss the rest of the 2023 season after undergoing season-ending shoulder surgery, so this is just a procedural move that clears room on the 40-man roster. The Royals used that created room to select the contract of Matt Beaty from Triple-A Omaha.
Jun 14, 2023
Needs surgery, done for season
The Royals announced Wednesday that Pasquantino (shoulder) will undergo surgery to repair a torn labrum and is expected to miss the remainder of the 2023 season.
ANALYSIS
The 25-year-old was diagnosed with right shoulder discomfort Friday and was placed on the 10-day injured list a day later before follow-up tests evidently revealed a more serious injury. Pasquantino will inevitably be moved to 60-day IL in the near future, which will open a spot on the 40-man roster. He finishes his 2023 season having produced a .247 batting average with nine home runs, 26 RBI and 24 runs scored over 259 plate appearances in 61 games.
Jun 10, 2023
Placed on injured list
Pasquantino landed on the injured list Saturday with what the Royals described as right shoulder instability.
ANALYSIS
Pasquantino left Friday's game against Baltimore with what was originally called right shoulder discomfort. His updated diagnosis remains somewhat vague, but he'll undergo an MRI on Monday, per Jaylon T. Thompson of The Kansas City Star, at which point a clearer timeline for his return may emerge. Nick Pratto will likely spend more time at first base until Pasquantino returns, which would open up at-bats in left field for Edward Olivares, who was activated off the restricted list to take Pasquantino's spot on the roster.

Exits with right shoulder injury
Pasquantino left Friday's game against the Orioles with right shoulder discomfort, Jaylon T. Thompson of The Kansas City Star reports. He went 0-for-3 before exiting.
ANALYSIS
Pasquantino was replaced by Matt Duffy at first base. It's likely Pasquantino will likely undergo further testing on the shoulder to determine the severity of the injury, but at this point the 25-year-old should be considered day-to-day.

Gets Monday off
Pasquantino is out of the lineup for Monday's game in Miami.
ANALYSIS
After going 0-for-10 with two walks in the Royals' weekend series with the Rockies, Pasquantino will get a mental day off in the series opener with the Marlins. Nick Pratto will pick up the start at first base, while shortstop Bobby Witt gets a day out of the field and serves as the Royals' designated hitter.
May 29, 2023
Three hits, two RBI in win
Pasquantino went 3-for-5 with a double and two RBI in Monday's 7-0 win over the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
Pasquantino's RBI double in the third inning was ultimately all the Royals needed. The first baseman has hit safely in four of his last five games, going 8-for-23 (.348) in that span. While it's a small sample, it's also an encouraging return to form after he struggled at the plate for a couple of weeks in May. For the season, Pasquantino is slashing .262/.341/.466 with nine home runs, 26 RBI, 22 runs scored and 15 doubles through 54 contests.
May 25, 2023
Gets aboard four times in loss
Pasquantino went 3-for-4 with a double, one RBI and a walk in Wednesday's 6-4 loss to the Tigers.
ANALYSIS
Pasquantino had gone 11 games without a multi-hit effort entering Wednesday, a span in which he hit an awful .095 (4-for-42) with two home runs and a 3:9 BB:K. In terms of breaking out of a slump, Wednesday was a solid first step for Pasquantino, who was one of the Royals' most consistent hitters early in the season. He's still slashing .262/.347/.481 with nine homers, 24 RBI, 22 runs scored and 14 doubles through 50 contests.
May 23, 2023
Swats ninth homer, fans thrice
Pasquantino went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run Monday in a 10-inning loss to the Tigers.
ANALYSIS
Pasquantino plated the first runs of the contest for Kansas City with a 424-foot, two-run shot to right field in the first inning. The first baseman struggled from there, however, striking out three times in his remaining four plate appearances. That extended an uncharacteristic four-game stretch in which Pasquantino has struck out seven times over 16 at-bats. Prior to that span, he had fanned just seven times over his previous 24 games covering 97 at-bats.
May 21, 2023
Breather Sunday
Pasquantino is not in the starting lineup Sunday versus the White Sox.
ANALYSIS
Pasquantino will get a breather as he continues to struggle at the plate, batting just .088 with a homer and two RBI with five strikeouts over his last 34 at-bats in nine games since May 11. Bobby Witt will start at designated hitter while Matt Duffy enters the lineup at third base and bats ninth in the series finale with Chicago.
May 17, 2023
Crushes homer
Pasquantino went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's win over the Padres.
ANALYSIS
Pasquantino helped knock Yu Darvish out of the game with a two-run shot in the sixth inning. The first baseman has delivered some power to the Royals lineup. He has eight homers in 193 plate appearances after posting 10 big flies in 298 plate appearances last season. Pasquantino has been excellent in multiple categories with 21 runs and 21 RBI this season.
May 12, 2023
Out of lineup Friday
Pasquantino is not in the lineup Friday against the Brewers.
ANALYSIS
Pasquantino went 7-for-18 (.389) with a homer and two doubles during the Royals' last series versus the White Sox, so this is presumably just a scheduled day of rest. Salvador Perez is taking a turn in the designated hitter role and Nick Pratto will cover first base against the Brewers and right-hander Corbin Burnes.
May 11, 2023
Stays hot Wednesday
Pasquantino went 3-for-5 with a double and two runs scored in Wednesday's 9-1 win over the White Sox.
ANALYSIS
Pasquantino has gone 7-for-14 with three extra-base hits over his last three games. He has five multi-hit efforts in his last 10 contests. The 25-year-old is up to a .298/.383/.539 slash line with seven home runs, 19 RBI, 20 runs scored and 13 doubles in 38 games this season. While most of his profile resembles what he did in 72 contests as a rookie last year, he's added 89 points to his slugging percentage, showing a sizeable increase in power.
May 10, 2023
Continues monster season
Pasquantino went 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBI in Tuesday's 4-2 loss to the White Sox.
ANALYSIS
Pasquantino drilled a slider 430 feet to open the scoring. The first baseman singled home Bobby Witt in the sixth inning to get Kansas City within a run. But that was all the scoring the Royals could muster. Pasquantino hit 10 homers in 258 at bats last season. He already has seven in 136 at bats in 2023. The 25-year-old has a .905 OPS.
May 4, 2023
Drives in three runs Wednesday
Pasquantino went 3-for-4 with a home run, two doubles and three RBI in a 6-0 win over the Orioles on Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Pasquantino got the scoring started for Kansas City with a solo homer to right field in the fourth inning, and he added an RBI double in each of the sixth and seventh frames. It was the second three-hit performance for Pasquantino over his past three games, and Wednesday also marked the first time this season the slugger has racked up three extra-base hits in a single contest. Pasquantino has seen his season average jump from .260 to .292 in the three-game stretch, and he's slugged six homers while knocking in 14 runs on the campaign.
Apr 30, 2023
On base four times in loss
Pasquantino went 3-for-4 with a double, a walk, two RBI and a run scored in Sunday's 8-4 loss to the Twins.
ANALYSIS
Pasquantino paced the Royals' offense Sunday with his third three-hit game over the first month of the year. The 25-year-old plated two runs the ninth and came around to score in the sixth after leading off the frame with a double. He has been the Royals' most impactful hitter thus far, slashing .279/.375/.500 with five homers, 10 RBI, 13 runs and a 15:16 BB:K over 120 plate appearances.
Apr 28, 2023
Hits fifth homer of year
Pasquantino went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's 7-1 loss to Minnesota.
ANALYSIS
Pasquantino's homer was the lone bright spot for Kansas City's dormant offense yesterday. The second-year first baseman is now slashing .283/.371/.522 with five homers and eight RBI so far this year. The 25-year-old is well on pace to pass his total of 10 home runs from his rookie season last year.
Apr 25, 2023
Strong effort in loss
Pasquantino went 3-for-4 with a double, a walk and a run scored in Monday's 5-4 loss to the Diamondbacks.
ANALYSIS
Pasquantino has hit safely in five of his last six games, going 9-for-24 (.375) over that span. He has three extra-base hits in that span. The first baseman's impressive start to the year -- a .291/.391/.532 slash line with four home runs and seven doubles -- has earned him an everyday role. He's added seven RBI and 11 runs scored over 23 contests.
Apr 24, 2023
Clubs fourth homer
Pasquantino went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Angels.
ANALYSIS
Pasquantino took Reid Detmers deep in the sixth inning, briefly giving the Royals a 2-1 lead. This was the fifth multi-hit effort of the season for Pasquantino, who has been a steady presence in the heart of the order. The first baseman is slashing .267/.368/.507 with four homers, seven RBI, 10 runs scored and six doubles through 22 contests.
Apr 17, 2023
Goes deep Sunday
Pasquantino went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in Sunday's 5-4 loss to Atlanta.
ANALYSIS
Pasquantino tied the game at 4-4 with his seventh-inning blast off reliever Michael Tonkin. Over his last six games, Pasquantino has gone 6-for-21 (.286) with two homers, three RBI, four runs scored, five walks and two doubles. The first baseman has been a relative bright spot in an otherwise weak-hitting lineup, slashing .269/.387/.538 through 62 plate appearances.
Apr 13, 2023
Slugs second homer
Pasquantino went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, an additional run and a walk in Wednesday's 10-1 rout of the Rangers.
ANALYSIS
Pasquantino knocked a 388-foot homer in the third inning for his second long ball of the campaign. The first baseman extended his on-base streak to eight games, and he's slashing .385/.500/.769 over that stretch. As he did as a rookie last year, Pasquantino has demonstrated elite command of the strike zone in 2023 -- he has a 16.3 percent walk rate that matches his 16.3 percent strikeout rate through 49 plate appearances.
Apr 12, 2023
Gets aboard four times
Pasquantino went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a walk and a run scored in Tuesday's 8-5 loss to the Rangers.
ANALYSIS
Pasquantino did his part out of the cleanup spot, but Nos. 5 and 6 hitters Edward Olivares and Michael Massey went a combined 0-for-8 with one walk. This was Pasquantino's third multi-hit effort in his last five games -- he's one of the Royals' few batters who seems to be turning things around. For the season, he's slashing .289/.400/.500 with a home run, three RBI, five doubles and four runs scored through 12 contests.
Apr 8, 2023
Clubs homer in win
Pasquantino went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Friday's 3-1 win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Pasquantino put the Royals ahead for good when he took Giants starter Alex Cobb deep in the fourth inning. The Royals' offense has been anything but consistent so far, and Pasquantino has struggled, hitting .208 (5-for-24) with three RBI and two runs scored, though he also has a 5:4 BB:K. While it's not an ideal start to the campaign, no one else has stepped up to challenge the young first baseman for playing time yet, so he should continue to play regularly.
Apr 4, 2023
Sitting out Tuesday
Pasquantino is absent from the Royals' lineup for Tuesday's game against the Blue Jays.
ANALYSIS
The Jays are throwing left-hander Yusei Kikuchi, so Pasquantino will receive his first day off of the season. Hunter Dozier will shift over to first base and Matt Duffy will handle third. Pasquantino is off to a slow 2-for-14 start this season.
Mar 15, 2023
Doing fine at WBC
Pasquantino has gone 4-for-17 across four games for Italy at the World Baseball Classic.
ANALYSIS
Those are just fine numbers for Pasquantino, who is projected to be the Royals' primary first baseman this season. The 25-year-old was a bit better in four Cactus League games before leaving for the WBC, going 4-for-9 with a home run, four RBI, three runs scored and two walks. Overall, there's nothing to discourage fantasy managers from selecting Pasquantino in the later rounds of drafts after he slashed .295/.383/.450 with 10 home runs, 26 RBI and 25 runs scored across 72 games as a rookie a year ago.
Oct 5, 2022
Caps rookie year with bang
Pasquantino went 2-for-4 a solo home run in Wednesday's loss against the Guardians.
ANALYSIS
The rookie capped off a solid start to his career with a two-hit effort, including a solo home run in the first inning. The homer, his 10th of the season comes as he is on fire at the dish. Over his last 19 games dating back to Sept. 14, Pasquantino is batting .408 (29-for-71) with two home runs and a 6:11 K:BB, demonstrating his hitting ability as well as his plate discipline.
Oct 4, 2022
Records first steal
Pasquantino went 0-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Monday's 5-2 extra-inning win over the Guardians.
ANALYSIS
Pasquantino's sixth-inning steal was the first of his big-league career. The rookie first baseman has a much stronger reputation as a slugger, but he picked up nine steals across 189 minor-league contests in the last two years. He's done well in the majors this year, posting a .288/.379/.436 slash line with nine home runs, 25 RBI and 23 runs scored in 70 contests, and he should have the inside track to be the Royals' starting first baseman in 2023.
Oct 2, 2022
Gets aboard four times
Pasquantino went 3-for-4 with a walk, an RBI and a run scored in Sunday's 7-5 loss to the Guardians.
ANALYSIS
Over his last 14 games, Pasquantino has produced eight multi-hit efforts while going hitless only once. He hadn't driven in a run for five games prior to Sunday. The rookie first baseman's impressive surge of late has lifted his season slash line to .291/.381/.441 with nine home runs, 25 RBI, 23 runs scored and 10 doubles through 286 plate appearances. He'll look to keep up the hot hitting with three more games against Cleveland to end the campaign.
Sep 25, 2022
Snaps homer drought Saturday
Pasquantino went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in a loss to the Mariners on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Pasquantino entered the contest with no long balls over his previous 19 games, though he had recorded a healthy .302/.400/.365 slash line during that stretch. The big first baseman snapped the homer drought in the first inning, belting a two-run shot to right field to put the Royals on the board. Pasquantino has 27 total homers between the minors (18) and majors (nine) this season after hitting 24 between High-A and Double-A last year.
Sep 18, 2022
Knocks in three in win
Pasquantino went 3-for-5 with three RBI in Saturday's 9-0 victory over the Red Sox.
ANALYSIS
Pasquantino knocked in Bobby Witt on a fifth-inning double, then singled home MJ Melendez in both the sixth and eighth innings. The Italian Nightmare has extended his hit streak to three games, boosting his batting average from .253 to .261 in the process. He has a .346 OBP and a .422 SLG to round out his slash line.
Sep 11, 2022
Pausing Sunday
Pasquantino is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers.
ANALYSIS
Pasquantino started back-to-back games after being activated from the injured list, but he will get a chance to take it easy Sunday. Salvador Perez will serve as the designated hitter with Pasquantino opening the game on the bench.
Sep 9, 2022
Reinstated from IL
Pasquantino (shoulder) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Friday.
ANALYSIS
The 24-year-old was placed on the injured list in late August due to right shoulder discomfort and began his rehab assignment in Triple-A Omaha on Saturday. Pasquantino went 3-for-14 with three RBI in his four rehab games. Brent Rooker will be sent down to Omaha in a corresponding move to open a roster spot for Pasquantino.
Sep 3, 2022
Rehab assignment on tap
Pasquantino (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Omaha on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Pasquantino hit on the field prior to Friday's matchup against Detroit and will return to game action in the minors a day later. Assuming he feels good after playing at the Triple-A level, it wouldn't be surprising to see him return from the injured list early next week.
Sep 2, 2022
Hits on field Friday
Pasqualino (shoulder) hit on the field ahead of Friday's game against the Tigers, Joel Goldberg of Bally Sports Kansas City reports.
ANALYSIS
Pasquantino has been on the injured list since Aug. 23 due to right shoulder discomfort, but manager Mike Matheny said Friday that the 24-year-old is getting closer to a return. It's not yet clear whether Pasquantino will require a rehab assignment prior to rejoining the Royals.
Aug 23, 2022
To IL with shoulder discomfort
Pasquantino was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with right shoulder discomfort.
ANALYSIS
The Royals won't mess around with this injury to one of their best young players. As it is still being labeled as discomfort, this could be a short-term absence. He is eligible to return Sept. 2 in Detroit.
Aug 22, 2022
Managing right shoulder discomfort
Pasquantino was removed from Monday's game against the White Sox due to right shoulder discomfort, Joel Goldberg of Bally Sports Kansas City reports.
ANALYSIS
Pasquantino appeared to be in pain while swinging his bat in the bottom of the second inning Monday, and he was replaced defensively in the top of the third. The 24-year-old will be further evaluated before the Royals determine his status for the team's upcoming two-game series against the Diamondbacks.
Aug 22, 2022
Suffers arm injury Monday
Pasquantino was removed in the top of the third inning of Monday's game against the White Sox with an apparent right arm injury, Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports. He went 0-for-1 with a walk and a run scored prior to departing.
ANALYSIS
Pasquantino appeared to sustain the injury in question in the bottom of the second, when he looked to be in pain while swinging the bat and flying out to end the inning. Nick Pratto was summoned from the bench a half inning later to replace Pasquantino at first base. The 24-year-old can viewed as day-to-day until the Royals provide more specifics about his injury.
Aug 15, 2022
Stays hot with homer
Pasquantino went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Monday's 4-2 loss against the Twins.
ANALYSIS
For the second game in a row, the rookie slugged a home run to bring his total on the season to eight. Pasquantino has been on a tear since the beginning of August, slashing .356/.388/.711 with a 10.2% strikeout rate after slashing .219/.322/,324 with a 15.7% strikeout rate up to this point. The recent surge is likely a product of him getting accustomed to the big league, and he should continue to contribute to fantasy lineups the rest of the way.
Aug 15, 2022
Slugs another homer
Pasquantino went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, a double, two RBI and two runs scored in Sunday's 4-0 win over the Dodgers.
ANALYSIS
Pasquantino factored in on three of the Royals' scoring plays as they avoided a sweep. His eighth-inning homer was his fourth in his last six games, and his seventh of the campaign. The first baseman has added 12 RBI, 16 runs scored and six doubles while slashing .260/.341/.440 through 170 plate appearances. He appears to have a near-everyday role between first base and designated hitter, and considering he slugged .574 through 242 games in the minors in his career, the power shouldn't come as much of a surprise.
Aug 13, 2022
Resting Saturday
Pasquantino will sit Saturday against the Dodgers.
ANALYSIS
Pasquantino has had a near-everyday role since his promotion in late June. His .247/.331/.404 slash line is good for a merely good 109 wRC+, but his combination of a 14.5 percent strikeout rate and a 10.6 percent barrel rate suggests his numbers could improve going forward. Nick Pratto will be the first baseman saturday while Brent Rooker serves as the designated hitter.
Aug 12, 2022
Showing consistent power
Pasquantino went 1-for-2 with a solo home run and a walk Thursday against the White Sox.
ANALYSIS
Pasquantino continued his recent power surge, taking Dylan Cease yard in the second inning to tally his third homer in his last four games. He has at least one hit in eight of his last 10 starts, maintaining a .324 average with five RBI and four runs scored in that span. After taking some time to adjust to the big-league level, Pasquantino has six homers across 162 plate appearances and a .246/.333/.408 line.
Aug 10, 2022
Homers twice in twin bill
Pasquantino went 3-for-7 with two home runs, a walk and three RBI as the Royals split Tuesday's doubleheader against the White Sox.
ANALYSIS
The 24-year-old delivered a two-run shot during the matinee and a solo homer during the nightcap, providing half of Kansas City's six total runs on the day. Pasquantino made his major-league debut in late June and is a lineup regular at designated hitter with a .237/.325/.385 slash line, five home runs, nine RBI and a 16:23 BB:K through 37 games.
Aug 7, 2022
Goes to bench Sunday
Pasquantino is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Red Sox.
ANALYSIS
The rookie will sit for the first time since July 27, ending a stretch of 10 consecutive starts at either first base or designated hitter. Salvador Perez will serve as the Royals' DH on Sunday, while Nick Pratto gets the starting nod at first base.
Aug 6, 2022
Posts three hits in loss
Pasquantino went 3-for-5 with a run scored in Friday's 7-4 loss to the Red Sox.
ANALYSIS
Pasquantino had gone 3-for-14 across four games to begin August, with all of those knocks being doubles. He doubled his hit count for the month with a trio of singles in Friday's contest, making this his first multi-hit effort since July 30. The 24-year-old has had a relatively quiet start to his major-league career, clashing .234/.324/.347 with three home runs, six RBI, 10 runs scored and five doubles through his first 142 plate appearances. He's settled in as the Royals' primary designated hitter with some time at first base, though he shares that position with fellow prospect Nick Pratto.
Jul 28, 2022
Returns to lineup
Pasquantino (thumb) is starting Thursday against the Yankees.
ANALYSIS
Pasquantino sat out Wednesday's series finale against the Angels due to right thumb discomfort but is serving as the designated hitter and batting third Thursday. Over his five games since the All-Star break, he's gone 4-for-18 with a double, a run, three walks and three strikeouts.
Jul 27, 2022
Dealing with thumb discomfort
Pasquantino is dealing with thumb discomfort, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Pasquantino won't start Wednesday and can be considered day-to-day going forward. Manager Mike Matheny said the first baseman felt the discomfort on a swing Tuesday, but is already feeling better, so this seems like a precautionary absence. The Royals open a four-game road series versus the Yankees on Thursday.
Jul 27, 2022
On bench Wednesday
Pasquantino is not in the starting lineup Wednesday versus the Angels, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Pasquantino will get a breather after he went 2-for-7 with a double, a run scored and two walks over the first two games of the series. Andrew Benintendi will slide into the designated hitter spot while Kyle Isbel enters the lineup in left field and bats seventh in the series finale.
Jul 17, 2022
Mashes third homer
Pasquantino went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run in a 6-5 extra-inning loss to the Blue Jays on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Pasquantino went deep off Blue Jays closer Jordan Romano in the top of the 10th inning with a two-run blast off the foul pole that cashed in the automatic runner from second. The two-hit game lifted Pasquantino's average to .206 on the season. The 24-year-old rookie has had some difficulty adjusting to the big leagues since being called up from Triple-A on June 29, but he has begun to show some signs of life by hitting two home runs over the past week. The highly-touted prospect is expected to play first base every day for the Royals over the second half of the season and there could be plenty of more power production awaiting in his bat.
Jul 12, 2022
Four hits across twin bill
Pasquantino went 4-for-7 with a home run, two RBI, two runs scored and two walks as the Royals swept Monday's doubleheader against the Tigers.
ANALYSIS
Pasquantino delivered a solo home run and an RBI single in the matinee, giving the Royals enough for a 3-1 win. He reached base four additional times in the nightcap, though he wasn't directly involved in any run production in that contest. These were the first baseman's first two multi-hit games in his big-league career. He boosted his slash line to .213/.362/.362 with two homers, three RBI, five runs scored and a double through 58 plate appearances across 14 games overall. He's often hit between fourth and sixth in the order -- though he batted third in Monday's second game -- and he should continue to see steady playing time as he adjusts to major-league pitching.
Jul 1, 2022
Goes deep in win
Pasquantino went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 3-1 win over the Tigers.
ANALYSIS
Pasquantino ripped a line-drive homer off of Michael Pineda in the fourth inning for his first big-league hit. He's now 1-for-9 with two walks to begin his MLB career but he's yet to strike out. The highly-touted prospect smacked 18 long balls while registering a .948 OPS with Triple-A Omaha prior to joining Kansas City.
Jul 1, 2022
Batting cleanup against Detroit
Pasquantino will serve as the designated hitter and bat cleanup against the Tigers on Friday, Joel Goldberg of Bally Sports Kansas City reports.
ANALYSIS
Dave Holtzman of Bally Sports Kansas City notes that, per Sportradar, Pasquantino will become the first Royals player to bat cleanup within his first three starts since Joe Vitiello in 1995. Pasquantino is hitless through his first two big-league games (0-for-5), but he showed off his eye at the plate and patience with a couple walks Wednesday. He slugged .576 with Triple-A Omaha prior to his call-up.
Jun 29, 2022
Hitless in debut
Pasquantino went 0-4 in an 8-3 loss to the Rangers on Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
The highly-touted top-100 prospect had a tough first game against big-league pitching, going hitless and grounding into a double-play while slotted in as the designated hitter. Pasquantino should see plenty of at-bats with Salvador Perez (thumb) out of the lineup due to injury and Carlos Santana having being traded to the Mariners. The Royals are not in a competitive state this season, so it looks like they will let their young players get plenty of at-bats.
Jun 28, 2022
Batting sixth in MLB debut
Pasquantino will bat sixth and serve as the designated hitter in his major-league debut Tuesday against Texas.
ANALYSIS
Pasquantino was called up Monday but didn't appear in the series opener, though that was reportedly due more to his late arrival at the stadium than the fact that the Royals were facing lefty Martin Perez. He'll get his first taste of the big leagues here against righty Jon Gray but is expected to face both lefties and righties going forward.
