Resting in finale
Guerrero is not in Sunday's lineup against the Rays.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero, who was once again near the top of the MLB leaderboard in games played this year (156), will get a breather in advance of the postseason. Cavan Biggio picks up the start at first base, batting fifth.
Sep 30, 2023
Crosses plate three times in win
Guerrero went 3-for-4 with a walk, two doubles and three runs scored in Friday's 11-4 win over the Rays.
ANALYSIS
The 24-year-old slugger continues a late-season surge that has helped push the Jays to the verge of the playoffs -- they need one more win, or a Mariners loss, to lock up a wild-card spot. Over his last 12 games, Guerrero is slashing .302/.423/.628 with two doubles, four homers, eight RBI and 10 runs.
Sep 24, 2023
Homers twice in win
Guerrero went 2-for-5 with two homers in Sunday's win over the Rays.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero looks to be back on track after going 1-for-13 in his previous five games after smacking three homers in three games prior to that. The 24-year-old Guerrero is up to 26 homers and 94 RBI on the year while batting .266 with a .793 OPS through 660 plate appearances.
Sep 22, 2023
Returns to lineup
Guerrero (knee) is starting at designated hitter and batting third Friday against Tampa Bay.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero missed two consecutive starts due to discomfort in his right knee, but he'll return to the lineup Friday after making a pinch hit appearance during Thursday's loss. Guerrero had been enjoying a five-game hitting streak before getting injured, going 7-for-18 with three homers and six RBI in that span.
Sep 21, 2023
Enters as pinch hitter
Guerrero (knee) entered Thursday's game against the Yankees as a pinch hitter, Mike Wilner of the Toronto Star reports.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero has been out of the lineup for two consecutive games due to right knee discomfort. He had an MRI done Thursday which came back clean and also gave Toronto confidence to put him on the field. Guerrero beat out a groundball for a base hit, and his ability to run down the line is another good sign for his potential return.
Sep 21, 2023
MRI clean on right knee
An MRI on Guerrero's right knee showed no structural damage and he might be available off the bench Thursday against the Yankees, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero was scratched from the Blue Jays' lineup Wednesday -- and is not starting Thursday -- because of lingering right knee discomfort, but this latest round of imaging scans have confirmed that he is merely dealing with inflammation and won't require an extended break. Spencer Horwitz will get the start at first base in Thursday's series finale at Yankee Stadium, but it sounds like Guerrero could be a full-go for the Jays' three-game weekend set versus Tampa Bay.
Sep 21, 2023
Out again with knee issue
Guerrero (knee) remains out of the lineup Thursday versus the Yankees.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero was scratched from the lineup Wednesday due to right knee discomfort and promptly sent for an MRI, the results of which are still being evaluated. Spencer Horwitz will play first base and bat sixth for the Blue Jays on Thursday at Yankee Stadium as Davis Schneider fills the DH role and hits cleanup.
Sep 20, 2023
Undergoes MRI
Guerrero received an MRI on his right knee Wednesday, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports.
ANALYSIS
Right knee soreness caused Guerrero to be scratched from the Jays' lineup ahead of Wednesday's contest. The results of Guerrero's MRI are expected to come back Thursday prior to Toronto's game against the Yankees, and he should be viewed as day-to-day until then.
Sep 20, 2023
Scratched with sore knee
Guerrero was scratched from the lineup Wednesday versus the Yankees due to right knee discomfort, Kaitlyn McGrath of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
This knee discomfort has been a lingering issue for Guerrero, but it's only soreness -- nothing structural -- and he is considered day-to-day. The 24-year-old slugger was slated to serve as the Blue Jays' designated hitter Wednesday night at Yankee Stadium. Spencer Horowitz will now fill that role as Cavan Biggio covers first base.
Sep 17, 2023
Homers in third straight game
Guerrero went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and two runs scored in Saturday's win over the Red Sox.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero walked in each of his first two trips to the plate before crushing a leadoff homer to open the bottom of the seventh to bring the Blue Jays back within one run of Boston. It marked the first baseman's third consecutive game with a home run and his second game in a row with two hits. He's now hit safely in four straight, driving in six runs over that stretch to go along with four runs scored.
Sep 15, 2023
Slugs 22nd homer
Guerrero went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Thursday's loss to the Rangers.
ANALYSIS
The first baseman gave Toronto an early lead when he took Nathan Eovaldi deep in the first inning, but Texas surged ahead in the top of the second and never looked back. Guerrero is scuffling again in September, slashing .224/.333/.388 through 13 games with two of his 22 homers, but with 86 RBI on the season and 15 games left on the Blue Jays' schedule, he still has an outside shot at his second career 100-RBI campaign.
Sep 3, 2023
Homers in win
Guerrero went 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored in Sunday's 7-5 win over the Rockies.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero's 21st home run came in the third and provided the Blue Jays with their initial run of the contest. He later just missed another home run by rocketing a single off the left field wall in the fifth to drive in another run. Guerrero has now hit safely in 13 of his last 14 games, batting .283 with three homers, 10 RBI, and nine runs over that stretch. He is slashing .266/.341/.439 on the season over 583 plate appearances.
Aug 29, 2023
Could see late-game action at 3B
The Blue Jays are open to using Guerrero at third base late in games following the injury to Matt Chapman (finger), Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.
ANALYSIS
The team doesn't plan to give Guerrero any starts at the hot corner, but he could be used there on occasion should late-game substitutions dictate it. Guerrero, who hasn't played more than two innings at third base in a season since 2019, has begun taking grounders there pregame. For fantasy purposes, there might be an outside shot that he gains eligibility there, depending on your league's specifications. Davis Schneider started at third base on Monday in the Jays' first game without Chapman, who is without a timetable as he nurses a sprained right middle finger.
Aug 28, 2023
Belts homer No. 20
Guerrero went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Sunday's extra-innings loss to the Guardians.
ANALYSIS
The 24-year-old slugger gave the Jays an early lead by taking Noah Syndergaard deep in the first inning on a changeup that stayed up in the zone, but Toronto eventually fell 10-7 in the 11th. Guerrero has hit safely in eight straight games and gone yard in two of the last three to get to 20 homers on the season, and the late August hot streak offers some hope he can regain his swagger in September -- his .784 OPS on the season is a long way from the 1.002 mark he delivered in 2021.
Aug 26, 2023
Ends homer drought
Guerrero went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 5-2 loss to the Guardians.
ANALYSIS
The first baseman snapped a 16-game power outage when he took Tanner Bibee deep in the sixth inning, a stretch in which Guerrero has slashed .279/.353/.328 with only four RBI. After slugging a combined 80 homers over the prior two seasons, the second-generation star has only 19 in 125 games in 2023, and the Jays will likely need Guerrero to heat up in September if they're going to make the playoffs.
Aug 22, 2023
Starting Tuesday
Guerrero (finger) is batting cleanup and starting at first base Tuesday against the Orioles.
ANALYSIS
He exited Sunday's game against the Reds with left middle finger discomfort, but after Monday's off day, Guerrero is back in the mix. The 24-year-old first baseman is having his least productive season since at least 2020, depending on the metric. He is hitting .238 with one home run, six RBI and four runs in 17 games this month.
Aug 20, 2023
Exits with finger discomfort
Guerrero was removed ahead of the bottom of the fourth inning of Sunday's game against the Reds due to left middle finger discomfort. He went 1-for-2 with a walk and a run scored prior to his departure.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero's injury may not be a major concern, as the Blue Jays took a 9-2 lead into the bottom of the fourth and might have chosen to pull the first baseman from the contest early as a matter of precaution. The Blue Jays are off Monday, so Guerrero will get some extra time to heal up from the finger injury before the team opens a crucial three-game series in Baltimore on Tuesday.
Aug 6, 2023
Takes seat Sunday
Guerrero is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Red Sox.
ANALYSIS
The Blue Jays haven't provided any word that Guerrero is dealing with an injury, so his absence from the lineup Sunday looks to be nothing more than a routine maintenance day. Guerrero had started in every game since May 19.
Aug 5, 2023
Crushes 18th homer
Guerrero went 2-for-5 with a double, a home run and two RBI in Friday's 7-3 win over the Red Sox.
ANALYSIS
The first baseman took James Paxton deep in the first inning for a solo shot, one of five Blue Jays homers on the night. Winning the Home Run Derby during the All-Star break has perked up Guerrero's power output, as five of his 18 long balls this season have come in the 20 games since, but his .230/.341/.473 slash line during that stretch remains something of a disappointment.
Jul 24, 2023
Goes yard again Sunday
Guerrero went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Sunday's win over the Mariners.
ANALYSIS
The first baseman took Bryan Woo deep in the fourth inning to get the Blue Jays on the board. Guerrero's bat might be heating up again -- the 24-year-old has homered in back-to-back games and three times in the last four contests, giving him 17 long balls on the year, but he still carries a disappointing .242/.311/.515 slash line through 17 games in July.
Jul 23, 2023
Slugs 16th homer
Guerrero went 2-for-5 with a double, a solo home run and a second run scored in Saturday's 9-8 loss to the Mariners.
ANALYSIS
He took Logan Gilbert deep in the fifth inning as part of a four-run outburst that gave the Jays their first lead in a back-and-forth affair. Guerrero has gone yard three times in eight games since winning the Home Run Derby during the All-Star break, and on the season he's up to 16 homers and 62 RBI in 96 contests to go along with a .272/.342/.457 slash line.
Jul 15, 2023
Stays locked in after break
Guerrero went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and a second run scored in Friday's 7-2 win over the Diamondbacks.
ANALYSIS
After winning the Home Run Derby during the All-Star break, Guerrero kept right on slugging to kick off the second half as he took Ryne Nelson deep in the first inning. The 24-year-old first baseman is up to 14 homers and 59 RBI on the season through 89 games with a .276/.344/.451 slash line, but he's more than capable of accelerating that pace down the stretch.
Jul 4, 2023
Clubs go-ahead homer
Guerrero went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the White Sox.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero restored the Blue Jays' lead with an eighth-inning blast for the final runs of the game. He's gone 11-for-37 (.297) with four homers and 12 RBI over his last 10 games. The first baseman has just 13 homers and a .455 slugging percentage in what's been a down power year, but he's batting a steady .277 with 54 RBI, 39 runs scored, four stolen bases and 18 doubles through 83 contests. Guerrero's recent play suggests his power may be coming around again.
Jun 30, 2023
Powers team to victory
Guerrero went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run in Thursday's 2-1 win over San Francisco.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero broke a scoreless tie in the sixth inning with a 413-foot two-run shot that gave the Blue Jays all the offense they needed to pull out the win. The long ball was the third in the past five games for the slugger, who has gone 8-for-22 with six extra-base hits and nine RBI over the hot stretch. Prior to the impressive run, Guerrero had been batting .243 (18-for-74) with just one homer over his first 20 contests in June.
Jun 25, 2023
Crushes 11th homer
Guerrero went 2-for-3 with a walk, a home run and three RBI in Saturday's 7-3 win over the A's.
ANALYSIS
One day after launching his first long ball of the season at the Rogers Centre, Guerrero did it again by belting an Austin Pruitt curveball to straightaway center field in the sixth inning, emphatically ending his mysterious home power outage. Guerrero is slashing .272/.366/.432 through 22 games in June with three of his 11 homers and 13 of his 48 RBI on the year, numbers that would be impressive for lesser hitters but which represent something of a disappointing month for the 24-year-old.
Jun 24, 2023
Mashes homer No. 10
Guerrero went 2-for-4 with a double and a three-run home run in Friday's 5-4 loss to the A's.
ANALYSIS
The first baseman snapped a 16-game power drought when he took James Kaprielian deep in the third inning, a stretch in which Guerrero had slashed just .220/.303/.254 with two doubles and five RBI. While Friday's homer was only his 10th of the year, the 24-year-old has kept his fantasy value afloat with 45 RBI in 74 games.
Jun 5, 2023
Smacks ninth homer
Guerrero went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and two runs scored in Sunday's victory over the Mets.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero extended the Jays' lead to 3-0 in the third inning with a homer off Kodai Senga, his first since May 23. Guerrero has hit safely in his last four games while going 8-for-24 (.333) with a .907 OPS in his previous six contests. The 24-year-old first baseman is having another strong season, slashing .289/.356/.467 with nine homers, 37 RBI and three stolen bases.
Jun 4, 2023
Smacks go-ahead double
Guerrero went 1-for-4 with one double, one RBI and one steal in Saturday's victory over the Mets.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero came through in crunch time, plating George Springer in the top of the ninth to give the Blue Jays a 2-1 lead. Though it was his only hit of the day, he managed to steal a base in the first inning after reaching base on a fielder's choice. The swipe was his third of the season but it was his first since April 24, snapping a 33-game drought.
May 23, 2023
Drives in six
Guerrero went 3-for-6 with a homer and six RBI in Tuesday's 20-1 victory over Tampa Bay.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero got Toronto's offensive explosion started with an RBI single in the first inning before cranking a grand slam off Luke Raley in the Jays' nine-run ninth. It's an encouraging display from Guerrero after he went 2-for-17 without driving in a run over his previous four games. Overall, the 24-year-old first baseman is slashing .300/.368/.500 with eight home runs and 33 RBI through 204 plate appearances this year.
May 19, 2023
Back in lineup Friday
Guerrero (knee) is back in the Blue Jays' lineup for Friday's game against the Orioles, Mike Wilner of the Toronto Star reports.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero missed two games with right knee discomfort, but he ran the bases pregame Friday and is ready to roll. He'll be the designated hitter in this one, with Brandon Belt handling first base.
May 19, 2023
Running bases pregame
Guerrero (knee) ran the bases at Rogers Centre pregame Friday, Rob Longley of the Toronto Sun reports.
ANALYSIS
Longley added that Guerrero was running the bases "aggressively." The Blue Jays have not released their lineup for Friday's game versus the Orioles yet, but between this and Vlad Jr. serving as a pinch-hitter Thursday, he would seem to have a good shot to be back in there.
May 19, 2023
Drives in run as pinch hitter
Guerrero (knee) was brought on as a pinch hitter in the seventh inning of Thursday's loss to the Yankees and drove in a run with a sacrifice fly.
ANALYSIS
The first baseman sat out Wednesday's game after tweaking his knee Tuesday while attempting to field a bunt, but the fact that the Blue Jays were willing to let Guerrero hit a day later is a strong sign his absence should be brief. He's slashing .312/383/.516 on the year with seven homers and 27 RBI in 41 games.
May 18, 2023
Takes swings Thursday
Guerrero (knee) participated in batting practice and did some running Thursday, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero is out of the Jays' lineup for Thursday's contest, but it's possible he's available for a pinch-hit opportunity. The 24-year-old slugger was pulled from Tuesday's game against New York due to right knee discomfort, but a trip to the injured list now seems unnecessary.
May 18, 2023
Out again Thursday
Guerrero (knee) remains out of the Blue Jays' lineup for Thursday's game against the Yankees.
ANALYSIS
An MRI on Vlad Jr.'s right knee came back negative, but he remains a bit sore so he'll get at least one more day of rest. Brandon Belt is at first base and Alejandro Kirk will be the designated hitter.
May 17, 2023
MRI comes back clean
The MRI on Guerrero's right knee came back negative, Kaitlyn McGrath of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero had to leave Tuesday's game against the Yankees after feeling soreness in the knee. He's not in Wednesday's lineup, but the good news is it appears he's avoided anything serious. Brandon Belt is playing first base Wednesday.
May 16, 2023
Leaves with right knee discomfort
Guerrero will undergo an MRI on his right knee after leaving Tuesday's game against the Yankees with right knee discomfort, Mike Wilner of the Toronto Star reports. He went 1-for-4 before exiting.
ANALYSIS
It appears Guerrero tweaked his knee while attempting to field a bunt in the eighth inning, and Brandon Belt replaced the first baseman to begin the ninth inning. Guerrero should be considered day-to-day, but the infielder told reporters he's unsure on his status going forward. The results of the MRI will obviously help determine how quickly he gets back in the lineup.
May 9, 2023
Returns to lineup
Guerrero (wrist) is back in the Blue Jays' lineup for Tuesday's game in Philadelphia, Rob Longley of the Toronto Sun reports.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero missed the previous two contests with a sore left wrist but is feeling well enough to give it a go Tuesday. He will be at first base and batting second against Aaron Nola.
May 7, 2023
Gets another day to rest wrist
Guerrero (wrist) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates.
ANALYSIS
With an off day looming Monday to afford Guerrero an additional day to rest his aching left wrist, the Blue Jays won't rush the star slugger back into the lineup for the series finale in Pittsburgh. While Guerrero sits for the second day in a row, Brandon Belt will draw a start at first base. Guerrero is still expected to return to the lineup for Tuesday's series opener in Philadelphia.
May 6, 2023
Likely available off bench
Guerrero (wrist) is likely available to pinch hit Saturday against the Pirates, but he may be held out of Sunday's game as well since Toronto has an off day Monday, Mike Wilner of the Toronto Star reports.
ANALYSIS
This is just the fourth game Guerrero has missed since the start of the 2020 season. It would be a good sign if he at least appears as a pinch hitter this weekend. The Blue Jays only play five games next week, with a two-game series in Philadelphia starting Tuesday.
May 6, 2023
Scratched with wrist discomfort
Guerrero was scratched from Saturday's lineup against the Pirates with left wrist discomfort.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero is hitting .412 with two home runs and six RBI over his last four games, and it's unclear how serious the injury is or when he sustained it. Cavan Biggio is starting at first base in his absence.
May 4, 2023
Homer, double in loss
Guerrero went 2-for-5 with a home run, a double and two RBI in Thursday's 11-5 loss to the Red Sox.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero got the Blue Jays on the board with a fourth-inning solo shot and added an RBI double in the fifth. It's his second straight game with a homer and his third straight contest with multiple hits. The first baseman is up to a .320/.393/.539 slash line with seven long balls, 20 RBI, 23 runs scored, seven doubles and two stolen bases through 32 games this season.
May 4, 2023
Slams sixth homer
Guerrero went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's loss to the Red Sox.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero gave Toronto a 2-0 lead with a 450-foot bomb to left field in the third inning, but Boston mounted a comeback to take the victory. The long ball broke an eight-game homerless streak for the star first baseman, and he had batted just .235 over that stretch. Guerrero nonetheless has registered a standout .317/.393/.512 slash line on the season, adding six homers, 18 RBI, 22 runs and two stolen bases.
Apr 27, 2023
Doubles twice Wednesday
Guerrero went 2-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI and a run scored in Wednesday's win over the White Sox.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero extended Toronto's lead to 3-0 with a two-run, two-out double in the third inning. The 24-year-old first baseman has hit safely in six straight games, going 8-for-25 with two homers and four doubles in that span. Guerrero is off to another fast start this season, slashing .333/.407/.535 with five home runs, 15 RBI and 18 runs scored through 113 plate appearances.
Apr 23, 2023
Opens scoring with homer
Guerrero went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 5-1 win over the Yankees.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero broke a scoreless tie in the sixth inning with a two-run homer, a 112.7 MPH line drive off Clarke Schmidt. It's Guerrero's fifth home run of the season and his third in his last five games. The 24-year-old first baseman is off to a hot start, slashing .341/.424/.541 with 13 RBI and 16 runs scored through his first 99 plate appearances this season.
Apr 22, 2023
Gives Toronto early lead with homer
Guerrero went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and an additional run scored in Friday's 6-1 win over the Yankees.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero opened the scoring with a two-run homer off Domingo German in the first inning, marking his fourth long ball of the year. Through 20 games (91 plate appearances), Guerrero is slashing .346/.429/.513 and has almost as many walks (nine) as strikeouts (10).
Apr 19, 2023
Mashes third homer
Guerrero went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's win over the Astros.
ANALYSIS
The first baseman took Jose Urquidy the other way in the fourth inning for his third homer of the season. Guerrero has been collecting plenty of hits to begin the year, batting .357 (25-for-70) through 18 games, but Tuesday's blast was only his fourth extra-base hit and the 24-year-old has a somewhat disappointing nine RBI and 13 runs, although he's more than capable of heating up in a hurry and racking up counting stats in a high-powered Blue Jays offense.
Apr 7, 2023
Blasts second homer
Guerrero went 3-for-5 with a solo home run and a second run scored in Thursday's win over the Royals.
ANALYSIS
The first baseman has been locked in to begin the season. Guerrero's .407 batting average (11-for-27) through seven games is impressive and comes with two homers, a steal, five runs and six RBI, but he also boasts an eye-popping 5:1 BB:K. With hits in five straight games and homers in two straight, the 24-year-old seems poised to put together a massive month of April.
Apr 6, 2023
Goes deep for first time in 2023
Guerrero went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored against Kansas City in a 3-0 win Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Toronto clung to a narrow 1-0 lead through seven innings before Guerrero gave the team a little breathing room with his 389-foot solo shot in the eighth. The slugger managed two other hits in the contest, and he's now reached base in all six of the Blue Jays' contests to start the campaign. Guerrero is rolling right along as one of the league's top hitters in 2023, slashing .364/.483/.545 with five RBI and a stolen base through 29 plate appearances.
Apr 4, 2023
Swipes bag Monday
Guerrero went 1-for-4 with a walk, an RBI and a stolen base in Monday's loss to the Royals.
ANALYSIS
It's a little wild that Guerrero stole his first base of the season before hitting his first home run, but his fantasy GMs know the latter will be coming soon enough. The 24-year-old first baseman has gotten on base at a .450 clip through Toronto's first four games, going 4-for-14 with a double, four walks and a HBP while collecting four RBI. Guerrero did still a surprising eight bags in 11 attempts last year, and MLB's rule changes to boost the running game might allow him to reach double digits in 2023.
Mar 31, 2023
Drives in three against Cards
Guerrero went 2-for-4 with three RBI in a wild 10-9 Opening Day win over the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
The first baseman did all of his damage late -- Guerrero drove home two with a single to right field in the eighth inning on a 102.9 mph fastball from Jordan Hicks, setting the stage for a dramatic ninth-inning at-bat against St. Louis closer Ryan Helsley that resulted in a game-winning sacrifice fly. Guerrero came three RBI short of 100 in 2022 after bringing home 111 the year before, but the 24-year-old could easily top those numbers this season given his talent and the stacked lineup around him.
Mar 16, 2023
Doubles in return
Guerrero went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI in Wednesday's Grapefruit League game against the Pirates.
ANALYSIS
Making his return to the lineup after dealing with some knee soreness, Guerrero crushed a JT Brubaker pitch off the wall in left field to bring home Whit Merrifield in the third inning. Guerrero's minor injury cost him a chance to play in the WBC, but he doesn't seem to need much more work to be ready for Opening Day -- he's gone 4-for-13 this spring with two homers, plus Wednesday's double.
Mar 15, 2023
Open to rejoining Team D.R.
Guerrero said Wednesday that, with his knee injury behind him, he's open to rejoining Team Dominican Republic should they advance in the World Baseball Classic, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports.
ANALYSIS
A decision will be made after Guerrero has a conversation with Blue Jays general manager Ross Atkins and manager John Schneider. It seems unlikely Toronto would clear Vlad to leave camp given that he just returned from a knee injury which cost him nearly two weeks of action. It could also be a moot point, as the Dominican Republic needs to defeat Puerto Rico on Wednesday in order to advance.
Mar 15, 2023
Rejoins lineup Wednesday
Guerrero (knee) is starting Wednesday's Grapefruit League game against the Pirates, Rob Longley of the Toronto Sun reports.
ANALYSIS
The young slugger hasn't seen game action since March 3 due to knee inflammation, but he's been cleared to take the field after ramping up his running program over the past couple days. Guerrero will now have two weeks of exhibition games to get ready for Opening Day versus the Cardinals on March 30.
Mar 13, 2023
In line to return to lineup soon
Guerrero (knee) is expected to be ready to return to Grapefruit League action in a few days, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero ran the bases on Sunday without issue and is almost ready to test things out in a game. The slugger has been dealing with right knee inflammation since early March but seems to have mostly put the injury in the rearview mirror. Those with fantasy drafts this week should feel safe to draft Guerrero where you normally would.
Mar 12, 2023
Runs bases Sunday
Manager John Schneider said Guerrero (knee) "felt good" after running the bases Sunday and will do so again Monday before the team re-evaluates for his potential return to game action, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports.
ANALYSIS
The slugger, who will turn 24 years old Thursday, was forced to pull out of the World Baseball Classic after he experienced knee inflammation in early March, but he appears to be nearing full health. Guerrero may be able to return to Grapefruit League games later in the week if all goes well on the bases again Monday.
Mar 11, 2023
Nearly ready to run bases
Guerrero (knee) will run the bases Sunday, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero had to pull out of the World Baseball Classic due to knee inflammation, but the injury doesn't seem to be too significant. He's continued to make steady progress, including hitting and fielding grounders. Once he shows that he can run without issues, his Grapefruit League debut should soon follow.
Mar 9, 2023
Likely to face live pitching Sat.
Guerrero (knee) is likely to face live pitching Saturday, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero hit in the batting cage and fielded grounders Thursday for the second day in a row as he works his way back from right knee inflammation. He'll need to test out the knee with some lateral movements and running on the bases, but if all continues to go well it's possible the slugger will be ready to return to Grapefruit League play sometime next week.
Mar 8, 2023
Hits in cage Wednesday
Guerrero (knee) hit in the cage Wednesday and did some light running and fielding work, Rob Longley of the Toronto Sun reports.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero continues to make progress from inflammation in his knee, and while Longley notes that the slugger has no timetable for a return, it's possible that he could return to game action at some point next week. As long as there are not setbacks for the 23-year-old, it's very likely that he'll be ready for Opening Day and hitting in the middle of the Toronto lineup.

Hits off tee on Tuesday
Guerrero (knee) hit off a tee Tuesday and continues "to feel better," Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports.
ANALYSIS
A report earlier Tuesday suggested that Guerrero could get in some cage work by this weekend, but evidently he didn't need that much time. There's no timetable for when he might be cleared to run the bases and return to game action, but the slugger is trending in the right direction. He should be fine for Opening Day, barring any setbacks.
Mar 7, 2023
Could resume hitting this weekend
Guerrero (knee) could be ready to hit in the batting cage by this weekend, Rob Longley of the Toronto Sun reports.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero continues to receive treatment on his sore right knee and is making steady progress each day. The injury is considered minor, but the Blue Jays will take things slowly with their star first baseman. Guerrero figures to be ready to return to Grapefruit League play by next week and has plenty of time to get tuned up by Opening Day.
Mar 5, 2023
Won't rush back to game action
Guerrero (knee) told reporters on Sunday that he's making progress, but won't rush back to game action, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero said that he's thankful that the injury is not worse. The star first baseman wanted to play for the Dominican Republic in the upcoming World Baseball Classic, but said that the Blue Jays are his priority. The 23-year-old will likely sit out a few more games in the Grapefruit League, but it does appear likely he'll be ready for the start of the regular season.
Mar 4, 2023
Dealing with inflammation
Guerrero (knee) underwent an MRI which revealed nothing more than minor knee inflammation, Mitch Bannon of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The lack of structural damage is a great sign for Guerrero and his ability to get back on the field shortly. That said, his status for the World Baseball Classic remains in doubt - if there's any question about Guerrero's health, the Blue Jays seem unlikely to send their star first baseman to the tournament.
Mar 3, 2023
Injury not considered serious
Blue Jays manager John Schneider was optimistic that Guerrero (knee) will be fine after leaving Friday's game during the second inning, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero will be evaluated by the club Saturday, but they do not plan on running an MRI. The 23-year-old slugger will leave Blue Jays camp for the World Baseball Classic on Sunday.

Exits early Friday

Feb 26, 2023
Starts spring with bang
Guerrero went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run in Saturday's Grapefruit League game against the Pirates.
ANALYSIS
Facing Pittsburgh closer David Bednar in the fourth inning, Guerrero annihilated a hanging curve up in the zone and lined it deep to left-center field. The 23-year-old slugger didn't ascend to superstardom last season as many predicted, but it speaks to his upside that an .819 OPS with 32 homers and 97 RBI was considered a bit of a disappointment. Don't be surprised if he rebounds to something closer to his breakout 2021 campaign.
Jan 13, 2023
Inks deal
Guerrero signed a one-year, $14.5 million contract with the Blue Jays on Friday, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.

Notches second stolen base
Guerrero went 1-for-2 with a walk, a stolen base and two runs in Saturday's 5-3 win over the Tigers.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero is now up to two stolen bases on the season, both of which have come within the past week. Since the beginning of July, Guerrero has left the yard just three times, but he hasn't been too much of a disappointment for fantasy managers, considering he's hitting .340 with 16 runs and 16 RBI in addition to two steals on the month. Guerrero will be in the lineup once again for Sunday's series finale with Detroit, manning first base and batting second.

Jul 17, 2022
Three-hit day
Guerrero went 3-for-4 with an RBI double and a run scored in a 6-5 extra-inning win over the Royals on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero came up big with the Blue Jays down two runs in the bottom of the 10th by doubling in George Springer from second and then racing in to score on a Raimel Tapia single to tie the game. The three-hit performance for Guerrero lifted his average to a healthy .268 on the season to go along with 20 home runs. The 23-year-old's numbers are still down from his incredible breakout season last year but he is just a second-half hot streak away from his stat line looking more like those of his elite peers.
Jul 13, 2022
Homers, drives in two in win
Guerrero went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and two RBI in Wednesday's victory over the Phillies.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero launched a solo shot off Zack Wheeler in the bottom of the fourth inning before later adding another RBI on a sacrifice fly in the following frame. Jul 5, 2022
Receives rare day off
Guerrero is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game at Oakland.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero started the past 34 games and will step out of the lineup Tuesday for only the third time all season. He's riding a five-game hit streak during which he's gone 7-for-22 with a home run, three doubles, seven RBI and seven runs, and it's likely just a maintenance day for the young slugger. Cavan Biggio will shift to first base while Santiago Espinal starts at the keystone.

Jun 27, 2022
On base three times in loss

Jun 19, 2022
Reaches base four times
Guerrero went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer, two runs scored and two walks in Sunday's 10-9 win over the Yankees.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero set the tone for Sunday's offensive outburst with his two-run shot off of Luis Severino in the first inning. He would reach base three more times and score another run in the seventh. Over his last 10 games, Guerrero is 16-for-41 (.390) with four homers and five multi-hit performances. After a poor May (.681 OPS in 26 games), the 23-year-old has brought his slash line back to .267/.355/.510 through 279 plate appearances.
Jun 15, 2022

This was the first baseman's fourth multi-hit effort in his six-game hitting streak, a span that's seen him go 13-for-27 (.481) with three long balls, eight RBI and eight runs scored. The hot stretch has his season slash line up to .271/.355/.511 with 16 homers, 39 RBI, 34 runs scored and seven doubles through 61 contests. His .866 OPS is his highest mark since May 11.
Jun 13, 2022
Homers in blowout win
Guerrero went 3-for-5 with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored in Monday's 11-1 win over the Orioles.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero supplied RBI singles in the third and fifth innings before going yard on a solo shot in the eighth. It was his third multi-hit effort in his last four games as he continues to show signs of breaking out of his early-May slump. Eight of his 15 homers this season have come in his last 18 contests. The first baseman has added a .258/.341/.493 slash line with 37 RBI, 31 runs scored and seven doubles across 252 plate appearances as he rounds back into something resembling All-Star form.
Jun 13, 2022
Belts 14th homer
Guerrero went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run in Sunday's win over the Tigers.
ANALYSIS
The young slugger got the Blue Jays on the board in the fourth inning by taking Tarik Skubal deep. Guerrero's numbers in 2022 have been disappointing compared to his sky-high preseason expectations, but he's at least found his power stroke in June, slashing .255/.314/.617 through 11 games on the month with five of his 14 homers on the year.
Jun 11, 2022
Two-run double in win
Guerrero went 2-for-5 with a two-run double and two runs scored in Friday's win over the Tigers.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero's 2022 campaign has arguably been disappointing after nearly winning the MVP award last season. The two-hit outing on Friday brought the star first baseman's batting average up to just .246.
Jun 7, 2022
Wielding hot bat in June
Guerrero went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Monday's 8-0 win over the Royals.
ANALYSIS
After a disappointing May in which he slashed .217/.333/.348 with six extra-base hits, eight RBI and eight runs in 26 games, Guerrero has rediscovered his power stroke with the calendar flipping to June. Through the Blue Jays' first six contests of the month, Guerrero has already slugged four home runs while getting on base at a .370 clip. With both Guerrero and Bo Bichette beginning to heat up again, the Blue Jays offense is finally beginning to resemble the formidable force many predicted in the preseason.
May 31, 2022
Cleared to start Tuesday
Guerrero (wrist) will start at first base and bat third in Tuesday's game against the White Sox.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero was on the bench for Sunday's 11-10 win over the Angels while he contended with a sore left wrist, but he felt well enough to make a pinch-hitting appearance in the Blue Jays' victory. With the benefit of an off day Monday, Guerrero's wrist no longer looks to be much of a concern as the Blue Jays kick off a six-game homestand.
May 29, 2022
Nursing sore wrist
Guerrero is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels due to soreness in his left wrist, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero was originally slated to serve as the designated hitter in Sunday's series finale, but he's instead absent from the lineup due to the wrist issue. The 23-year-old is 4-for-16 with two home runs, a double, three walks and three RBI over his past four contests, and it's unclear when the injury first surfaced. He should be considered day-to-day while Cavan Biggio starts at first base in his place.
May 23, 2022
Power outage continues
Guerrero went 0-for-3 with a walk Sunday in the Blue Jays' 3-2 loss to the Reds.
ANALYSIS
Since smacking his seventh home run of the season May 5, Guerrero has gone without an extra-base hit, but a 15-game hitting streak from May 2 through 18 at least allowed him to bring value for fantasy managers in the batting-average category. He wasn't able to keep up that pace in the Blue Jays' weekend series with Cincinnati, however, as he finished the three-game slate with a 0-for-11 mark at the plate. Now sitting on a .262/.347/.434 slash line for the season, the struggling Guerrero could be in line for a day off in the near future.
May 6, 2022
Slugs seventh homer
Guerrero went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run and two runs scored Thursday against the Guardians.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero took Aaron Civale yard in the first inning to record his seventh home run of the season. He has gone yard only twice in his last 18 starts, and he has just five extra-base hits in that span. Despite the slow stretch, Guerrero still has an impressive .290/.364/.559 line to go along with 14 runs scored and 19 RBI across 107 plate appearances.
Apr 30, 2022
Crushes three-run shot
Guerrero went 1-for-5 with a three-run homer in Friday's 11-7 loss to Houston.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero had a day off Thursday with a minor foot issue but he looked plenty healthy Friday, launching a three-run shot off Jose Urquidy in the third inning. The 23-year-old slugger is slashing .301/.369/.575 with six homers and 16 RBI through 84 plate appearances. He was 10-for-38 (.263) without a home run in his previous 11 contests.
Apr 29, 2022
Back in action Friday
Guerrero (foot) is starting at first base and batting third Friday against the Astros.
ANALYSIS
The 23-year-old sat out Thursday's series opener after fouling a pitch off his right foot Wednesday against the Red Sox, but his absence will be limited to just one game, as expected. Guerrero initially played through the injury and had X-rays come back negative, so there shouldn't be any lingering concern now that he's retaking the field.
Apr 28, 2022
Expected to be available Friday
Guerrero (foot) is expected to be available for Friday's game against the Astros, Scott Mitchell of TSN.ca reports.
ANALYSIS
Manager Charlie Montoyo said Guerrero was set to pinch hit late in Thursday's win over the Red Sox, but he didn't end up appearing in the game. However, he received treatment Thursday after fouling a ball off his right foot Wednesday, so he's expected to be available following a one-game absence.
Apr 28, 2022
X-rays negative
Guerrero underwent X-rays on his right foot Wednesday which were negative, but his foot is still sore enough that he won't be in the lineup for Thursday's game against Boston, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero fouled a ball off his foot Wednesday, and while he remained in the game, he evidently didn't escape entirely without injury. His issue does seem to be a minor one, as he could be available off the bench if he responds well to pregame treatment, but it will be Gosuke Katoh serving as the first baseman for now.
Apr 28, 2022
Not starting Thursday
Guerrero isn't starting Thursday against the Red Sox.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero fouled a ball off his right foot in Wednesday's loss to the Red Sox but remained in the game. It's not yet clear whether he's dealing with a foot issue Thursday or whether he'll be available off the bench. However, Gosuke Katoh will take over at first base and bat eighth.
Apr 16, 2022
Launches fifth homer
Guerrero went 2-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Friday's 4-1 win over the A's.
ANALYSIS
He took Daulton Jefferies deep in the first inning as the Blue Jays never trailed in the game. Guerrero appears intent on making sure he doesn't come in second in the MVP race this time around, and through his first eight games of the season he's slashing .367/.406/.900 with five homers and nine RBI.
Apr 14, 2022
Starting, as expected
Guerrero (finger) will start at first base and bat third in Thursday's game against the Yankees.
ANALYSIS
As anticipated, the stitches Guerrero required for his finger after he was spiked during a play at first base in Wednesday's 6-4 win over New York won't prevent him from sticking in the lineup for the series finale. Even after suffering the injury in question, Guerrero still produced a pair of home runs and a double in his final three at-bats Wednesday to finish with 14 total bases.
Apr 14, 2022
On track to play Thursday
Guerrero (finger) will be included in the Blue Jays' lineup for Thursday's game against the Yankees, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports.
ANALYSIS
Those planning on using Guerrero in DFS and/or season-long leagues with daily moves will still want to confirm upon the release of Toronto's lineup that the 23-year-old is starting, but he appears to be good to go after he had a finger spiked while playing first base early in Wednesday's 6-4 win. After sustaining the injury in question, Guerrero hit his second and third long balls of the night to give him the second three-home run game of his young career. Guerrero required stitches after the game to seal the wound on his finger, but he doesn't appear to be experiencing any major discomfort while throwing the baseball or swinging the bat.
Apr 13, 2022
Clubs three homers, needs stitches
Guerrero received two stitches on his finger after going 4-for-4 with three home runs, a double and four RBI during Wednesday's 6-4 win over the Yankees, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.
ANALYSIS
The 23-year-old was bleeding a decent amount after being accidently spiked at first base by a baserunner, but he got patched up and crushed New York pitching the rest of the evening. Guerrero was 0-for-8 through the first two games of the series but came alive Wednesday and put on a one-man show against the Yankees. The injury isn't expected to affect his status going forward, and he already illustrated it shouldn't impact his performance.
Apr 10, 2022
Smacks mammoth homer
Guerrero went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Sunday's loss to the Rangers.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero got a cement mixer from Spencer Howard and did not miss. The ball traveled 467 feet, and as Sarah Langs notes on Twitter, the long ball was the Blue Jays' hardest-hit homer of the Statcast era at 117.9 mph. Guerrero has hit safely in all three games so far (.455 average) and is locked into the three hole in one of baseball's best lineups.
Mar 22, 2022
Settles for $7.9 million
Guerrero agreed to a one-year, $7.9 million contract with the Blue Jays on Tuesday, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero will earn a strong figure in his first year of arbitration eligibility after making about $605,000 during 2021. He'll remain at first base for Toronto this season after breaking out with a 1.002 OPS, 48 homers and 111 RBI last year.
Mar 20, 2022
Launches first homer of spring
Guerrero went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in Saturday's Grapefruit League game against the Phillies.
ANALYSIS
The 23-year-old slugger pulverized an Aaron Nola offering to left-center field in the first inning. Guerrero tied for the major-league lead in homers last season with 48 and finished tied for sixth with 111 RBI to go along with his stellar .311/.401/.601 slash line, and he appears on track to be ready to keep raking Opening Day in the heart of Toronto's potent lineup.
Oct 3, 2021
In Sunday's lineup
Guerrero (ankle) is batting third and playing first Sunday against the Orioles.
ANALYSIS
As expected, Guerrero is good to go after following his ankle and exiting Saturday's game. He enters an enticing matchup against left-handed starter Bruce Zimmerman.
Oct 2, 2021
Fine after injury scare
Guerrero exited Saturday's win over the Orioles after rolling his ankle but is feeling fine, Mike Wilner of the Toronto Star reports.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero was taken out of the game late after rolling his ankle rounding first base in the sixth inning. Manager Charlie Montoyo clarified that there was no serious injury, and that the team would have had more concern had it been a knee or hamstring issue. Prior to his exit, Guerrero went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run to bring his homer total on the season to 47.
Sep 19, 2021

He's lifted his impressive slash line to .321/.411/.617 with a major-league-leading 46 homers, 105 RBI and 119 runs scored across 642 plate appearances overall.
Sep 17, 2021
Bright spot in loss
Guerrero went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Friday's 7-3 loss to Minnesota.

If Guerrero can also maintain the improvements in his launch angle he showed this spring while slashing .421/.511/.737 through 47 plate appearances, the 22-year-old could become one of the breakout stars of 2021.

Scorching spring continues
Guerrero crushed a double with an exit velocity of 110 mph during Monday's Grapefruit League game against the Tigers, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
It's far from the first time this spring the 22-year-old had reached triple digits in exit velocity. Guerrero has erupted for a .520/.613/.840 slash line this spring over 12 games with five extra-base hits (three doubles, a triple and a homer) and a stellar 6:2 BB:K. Perhaps more importantly, he's shown an improved launch angle when he has made hard contact, which has been viewed as the key to him unlocking his full potential at the plate. It's taken a couple of years, but Guerrero seems poised to start matching his massive minor-league numbers in the majors.

Launches first spring homer
Guerrero hit his first Grapefruit League home run of the spring Friday against the Tigers, crushing a line drive 412 feet to center field that left his bat at 111.2 mph, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports. "He just feels good about himself right now," said Blue Jays manager Charlie Montoyo after the game. "He's in great shape. He had a great offseason. Not only that, in the intrasquad game we had yesterday, he hit two home runs. His last five at-bats have been hard-hit balls like that. We know what he can d
ANALYSIS
The 21-year-old came to camp in much better physical condition in an effort to prove he can handle third base defensively, but a slimmed-down Guerrero has looked great at the plate as well, going 5-for-12 so far with four walks and only one strikeout. Friday's homer was his first extra-base hit in Grapefruit League action however, and it remains to be seen whether improved fitness will help him solve the launch-angle issues that have prevented him from blossoming as expected in the majors.

Slims down for 2021
Guerrero revealed Wednesday that he lost 42 pounds during the offseason, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports. "It was fun...wasn't difficult," Guerrero said of his physical transformation. "I feel quicker on all aspects of my game, right now...defensively and offensively."
ANALYSIS
Reports had surfaced throughout the offseason indicating that Guerrero had made a commitment to improving his conditioning, but it wasn't until Wednesday that he detailed the extent of his weight loss. The lighter frame should help Guerrero in his efforts to be a usable option at either corner-infield spot in 2021, after he was used exclusively at first base and designated hitter in 2020. Guerrero is still likely to be a below-average defender at third base, but if he can at least play enough at the position to regain eligibility in fantasy leagues, it would be a nice boost to his value. More importantly, though, Guerrero must show some growth as a power hitter to justify his draft-day price; he produced a modest nine home runs in 60 games last season, with an inability to consistently get loft on his swing (54.6 percent groundball rate) being the main culprit.

Working at third base
Guerrero is hoping to prove in the Dominican Winter League that he can still be an option at third base for the Blue Jays in 2021, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
He has reportedly lost 40 pounds since July and 20 since the end of the season, down to 245 pounds. Guerrero moved to first base this past season, but it would give the Blue Jays some extra versatility if he could play both corner infield spots. Typically players don't move back up the defensive spectrum, but it's possible in this case if Guerrero is diligent about staying in better shape.

To play winter ball
Guerrero was granted permission to play in the Dominican Winter League, Yancen Pujols of El Caribe reports.
ANALYSIS
There's really no downside here for Guerrero. It will be easier for him to stay in shape and it gives him a chance to get into a groove at the dish ahead of spring training.

Blasts eighth homer
Guerrero went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and a second run scored in Thursday's 4-1 win over the Yankees.
ANALYSIS
His second-inning blast opened the scoring as the Jays clinched a playoff berth. Guerrero is heating up in the regular season's final days, collecting nine hits in the last four games including three doubles, a triple and Thursday's long ball, and on the season the 21-year-old is hitting .263 with eight homers and 32 RBI through 57 games.
Sep 23, 2020
Three RBI in win
Guerrero went 2-for-5 with three RBI and a run scored in Wednesday's 14-1 rout of the Yankees.
ANALYSIS
Despite leaving four runners on base, Guerrero was productive in a game where five Blue Jays' starters recorded multiple hits. With the second American League wild-card nearly clinched, Guerrero will look to continue his hot hitting through the end of the season and into the first playoffs of his career.

Logs three extra-base hits
Guerrero went 3-for-3 with two doubles, a triple, a walk and three RBI in Monday's 11-5 win over the Yankees
ANALYSIS
Guerrero belted a two-run double in the bottom of the third and added another run-scoring two-base hit an inning later. The third-baseman also had a triple, giving him seven total bases in the tilt. The 21-year-old has 28 RBI to go along with a .249/.324/.434 slash line on the campaign.

Back in action Sunday
Guerrero (dizziness) is starting at first base and batting sixth Sunday against the Phillies.
ANALYSIS
The 21-year-old was withheld from Saturday's starting nine since he was feeling "a little dizzy" after a pitch grazed his helmet a face Friday, but he's good to go for Sunday's series finale. Guerrero has a .203/.282/.328 slash line with two homers through 19 games in September.
Sep 19, 2020
Feeling slightly dizzy
Guerrero is "a little dizzy" Saturday and is being held out of the starting lineup as a result, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.
ANALYSIS
A pitch grazed Guerrero's helmet and face Friday, and manager Charlie Montoyo said that he's being held out because he's experiencing dizziness. Montoyo didn't sound too concerned about the issue, but Travis Shaw could continue to serve at first base with Joe Panik playing at third if Guerrero is forced to miss any additional time.
Sep 19, 2020
Not starting Saturday
Guerrero isn't in the lineup Saturday against the Phillies.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero made 13 consecutive starts for the Blue Jays, but he'll take a seat after going 1-for-10 with one run, one RBI and one strikeout over the past three games. Travis Shaw will shift to first base with Joe Panik starting at third Saturday.
Sep 16, 2020
Blasts seventh homer
Guerrero went 3-for-5 with a double, a solo home run and a second run scored in Tuesday's 20-6 loss to the Yankees.
ANALYSIS
The 21-year-old was dialed in, collecting hits on the first pitch in each of his first three at-bats before the Yankees were finally able to retire him in the eighth inning. Guerrero is slashing .251/.328/.440 through 47 games with seven homers and 24 RBI, as he continues to struggle to find his minor-league form.
Sep 6, 2020
Smacks three-run homer
Guerrero went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run, an additional run scored and a pair of walks in Saturday's 9-8 loss to the Red Sox.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero's big hit Saturday came in the sixth inning off Red Sox reliever Josh Taylor. The 21-year-old Guerrero also walked in the seventh and scored on a Lourdes Gurriel single. In 39 games, Guerrero has six homers, 20 RBI and 20 runs scored while slashing .259/.338/.455 across 160 plate appearances.
Sep 4, 2020
Not starting Game 2
Guerrero isn't in the lineup for Game 2 of Friday's doubleheader against the Red Sox.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero will take a breather after going 1-for-4 with a run and two strikeouts in Friday's matinee. Rowdy Tellez will take over at first base.
Sep 2, 2020
Gets day off Wednesday
Guerrero isn't in Wednesday's lineup against the Marlins.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero tallied two hits Tuesday, and he'll take a breather for Wednesday's contest. Rowdy Tellez will start at first base in his absence.
Aug 29, 2020
Drives in two
Guerrero went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored Saturday against the Orioles.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero put the Blue Jays up 2-0 with a two-RBI single in the bottom of the first inning. He later led off the fourth frame with another base knock, coming around to score two batters later. Guerrero now has an 11-game hitting streak, driving in 10 and scoring 10 runs in that span. Overall, he's hitting.271/.344/.483 across 131 plate appearances with five home runs, 17 runs scored and 16 RBI.
Aug 27, 2020
Records multi-hit game
Guerrero went 2-for-4 with two doubles, three RBI and two runs scored as he helped guide the Blue Jays to a 9-1 win over the Red Sox on Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero doubled once in the fourth and a second time in the seventh where he was able to clear the bases for a three-RBI double. Wednesday's effort extended Guerrero's hitting streak to nine games as the young third baseman is now hitting .255/.333/.445 on the season with four home runs and 13 RBI as he continues to pick it up at the plate following a slumping start to the campaign.
Aug 23, 2020
Triples in loss
Guerrero went 1-for-4 with a triple and run scored in Sunday's loss to the Rays.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero tripled in the fourth inning and scored on Travis Shaw's single two batters later. It marked the 21-year-old's first triple on the season and the third of his career. Guerrero has underwhelmed a bit thus far in 2020, slashing a modest .245/.321/.429 on the season.
Aug 22, 2020
Smokes fourth homer
Guerrero went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's extra-inning win over the Rays.
ANALYSIS
The young slugger has had some trouble so far in his career getting enough loft on the ball to fully take advantage of his power, but Guerrero demonstrated Friday that he doesn't need much launch angle to go yard -- his frozen rope into the seats in left field left his bat at a stunning 115.6 mph, but at an angle of only 16 degrees. On the season, the 21-year-old is slashing a mediocre .242/.317/.418 with four homers and seven RBI, but three of those long balls have come in his last 10 games, a stretch during which he's slashing a more impressive .270/.372/.514.
Aug 13, 2020
Goes yard
Guerrero went 2-for-5 with a solo home run Wednesday against the Marlins.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero ended his home run drought at nine games, as he took James Hoyt deep in the seventh inning. It was second home run of the season, though he has also recorded four doubles in his last eight contests. Overall, Guerrero is hitting a disappointing .237/.286/.407 across 47 plate appearances to this point in the campaign.
Aug 5, 2020
Two doubles in Tuesday's loss
Guerrero went 2-for-3 with a walk, two doubles and a run scored in Tuesday's 10-1 loss to Atlanta.
ANALYSIS
The 21-year-old has struggled to make hard contact to begin the season, so this performance was encouraging -- especially on a night when the Jays only managed five hits in total. Guerrero is hitting .219 (7-for-32) through eight games as he searches for a way to translate his dominant minor-league numbers to the majors.
Jul 29, 2020
Snaps homer drought
Guerrero went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Tuesday's win over the Nationals.
ANALYSIS
The blast to left-center field was Guerrero's first homer since last August, but it very nearly wasn't -- Victor Robles got his glove on it at the top of the wall but then collided with Emilio Bonifacio, and lost both ball and glove over the fence. Guerrero has gone 5-for-21 (.238) through five games to begin the season, but Tuesday's good fortune might have been just what the 21-year-old needed to get into a groove.
Jul 10, 2020
Moving to first base
Guerrero will primarily play first base and designated hitter this season, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero was widely expected to most to first base eventually, though it wasn't clear that he'd move so soon. He'll still be considered a possibility at the hot corner, but his defense graded out very poorly there according to both DRS and UZR, so the move is hardly a surprise. He should pick up the additional eligibility early in the season, though he'll likely lose third-base eligibility for 2022, which could affect owners in dynasty formats. Travis Shaw is expected to be Toronto's primary third baseman this season.

Has access to batting cage
Guerrero has been able to hit at a batting cage near his home in the Dominican Republic to try and stay sharp while MLB is on pause, Kaitlyn McGrath of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Based on pics posted to his Instagram feed, Guerrero has not only been hitting but has been able to stay in good shape, something that was a concern after his weight and general fitness level came into question towards the end of his rookie campaign. Expect the young slugger to be ready to go once training camps open up again, and the potential for a breakout 2020 from the second-generation player remains high.
Feb 20, 2020
Tabbed for cleanup role
Manager Charlie Montoyo said Thursday that he plans to use Guerrero as the Blue Jays' cleanup hitter this season, Kaitlyn McGrath of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Heading into spring training, Guerrero appeared likely to slot in as the Blue Jays' No. 3 hitter, but the 20-year-old expressed a desire to drop down a spot in the order. Instead, Toronto plans to use Lourdes Gurriel out of the three hole, as Guerrero told Montoyo he feels he can benefit from observing Gurriel's at-bats beforehand since pitchers tend to attack both hitters the same way. Guerrero's fantasy outlook won't change much whether he bats third or fourth, as he should benefit from plenty of run-producing chances regardless while a pair of high on-base batters in Bo Bichette and Cavan Biggio occupy the top two spots in the order.
Feb 17, 2020
Slated to hit third
Guerrero is expected to begin the season hitting third, following Bo Bichette and Cavan Biggio, Gregor Chisholm of The Toronto Star reports.
ANALYSIS
It's a little unusual for a manager to be setting his regular-season batting order this early, but given the nature of the Jays roster it's no surprise that Charlie Montoyo plans to put his trio of talented youngsters right at the top. Hitting third behind two players adept at getting on base in Bichette (.358 OBP in 2019) and Biggio (.364) could allow Guerrero to challenge for 100 RBI in his second MLB season after he drove in 69 in 123 games as a rookie.
Feb 16, 2020
Working on launch angle
Guerrero has been working with hitting coach Guillermo Martinez to refine his swing plane and improve his launch angle, Gregor Chisholm of The Toronto Star reports.
ANALYSIS
The 20-year-old is coming off a solid rookie season, but Vladito didn't meet the inflated expectations attached to him in the minors thanks in large part to a 6.7 percent launch angle and groundball rate north of 50 percent. Guerrero demonstrated in the Home Run Derby that he can crush a baseball; the trick now is to do it more consistently during game conditions. If he can add more loft to the ball and make better contact, the sky is the limit on his power potential.

Sitting season finale
Guerrero (knee) is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero was scratched from Saturday's lineup with right knee soreness, so it's not much of a surprise to see him held out Saturday. The 20-year-old figures to finish his rookie campaign with a .272/.339/.433 slash line, 15 home runs and 69 RBI in 123 games. Breyvic Valera will start at the hot corner in the season finale.
Sep 18, 2019
Exits with rib injury
Guerrero left Wednesday's game against the Orioles with a left rib injury, Rob Longley of the Toronto Sun reports.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero went 2-for-6 with one run and one strikeout before being replaced by a pinch runner (Jonathan Davis). The injury occurred during a collision at second base with Jonathan Villar. He is being evaluated by Toronto's medical staff.
Aug 21, 2019
Reaches base four times in return
Guerrero (knee) went 2-for-2 with a pair of walks Tuesday in the Blue Jays' 16-3 loss to the Dodgers.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero's inclusion in the lineup was somewhat surprising after he was diagnosed with inflammation in his left knee over the weekend, but Monday's team off day apparently remedied the matter. The rookie re-entered the lineup for Tuesday's series opener and showcased his usual elite plate approach, seeing 19 pitches on the night and reaching base in all four of his plate appearances. The Blue Jays could choose to give him a maintenance day in the near future but Guerrero's knee otherwise doesn't appear to be a concern moving forward.
Aug 20, 2019
Returns to action
Guerrero (knee) is starting at third base and batting third Tuesday night against the Dodgers, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero will rejoin the starting nine after missing just one contest with knee inflammation. He was able to take groundballs prior to Tuesday's matchup and evidently checked out OK. Guerrero is batting .229 with five extra-base hits and five RBI over his last 10 games.
Aug 20, 2019
Takes part in fielding work
Guerrero (knee) was spotted taking groundballs prior to Tuesday's game against the Dodgers, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.
ANALYSIS
Guerrero appears unlikely to play in Tuesday's matchup, but it's good to see that he's getting some fielding work in. An update on his availability may come after the rookie completes his workout.
Aug 20, 2019
Not ruled out for Dodgers series
The Blue Jays view Guerrero (knee) as day-to-day and believe he'll be able to return to the lineup at some point during their three-game series with the Dodgers that begins Tuesday, Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Heyman's report more or less aligns with what Guerrero had to say about his left knee injury Sunday, when the rookie labeled his bout with inflammation as "nothing major." Guerrero has already missed one game with the injury and seems unlikely to be ready to go for Tuesday's series opener, but the fact that the Blue Jays aren't considering the 20-year-old as week-to-week implies some level of optimism that he'll avoid a stint on the injured list. Brandon Drury will likely handle most of the action at the hot corner for however long Guerrero is ultimately sidelined.
