His minutes appear to be on the rise and while the Wizards do only have two games next week, he might still be worth grabbing, even in 12-team leagues.

Gafford drew his fifth consecutive start Wednesday and was efficient from the floor en route to his second-highest scoring total of the season. Over his five appearances since taking on a starting role, he's averaged 10.6 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.4 blocks in 22.6 minutes per game.

Gafford provided eight points (3-3 FG, 2-2 FT), six rebounds, one block and one steal over 19 minutes during Tuesday's 116-111 victory over Philadelphia.

Gafford started his fourth straight game Tuesday night, including two alongside Kristaps Porzingis, but he hasn't really seen a bump in minutes. His value mainly comes from blocks and rebounds, both of which have increased in the month of December. Since joining the starting lineup, the 24-year-old center is averaging 5.0 rebounds and 1.0 blocks per game.

Gafford is in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Suns, Josh Robbins of The Athletic reports.

The double-double was Gafford's third of the season. With Kristaps Porzingis exiting Monday's contest early due to back tightness, Gafford could see his role increase even more in the short term.

Gafford logged in excess of 20 minutes for the second straight game, piquing the interest of fantasy managers the world round. Even more promising was the fact that he shared the court with Kristaps Porzingis once again, something that is certainly a positive when it comes to his fantasy upside. While he isn't necessarily a must-add player, taking a flier on him just to see what happens isn't the worst decision in the world.

Gafford racked up 10 points (3-8 FG, 4-10 FT), 12 rebounds, one assist and six blocks in 24 minutes during Friday's 117-116 loss to the Hornets.

Gafford had one of his best games of the season. Friday night was the most minutes he had seen in almost a month and other than his shooting, he put up solid numbers. His 12 boards and six blocks were both season highs, and the 24-year-old center proved once again that he can produce when given the opportunity.

Gafford did not accumulate any stats in just five minutes of action in Friday's 107-106 victory over the Heat.

Days after recording a double-double in 25 minutes of action, Gafford was kept mostly out of the rotation. The primary reason is that Kristaps Porzingis was rolling and on the floor for 39 minutes. Overall, Washinton kept their rotation to just eight players. The big man does not hold much fantasy value as long as Porzingis is healthy.

Gafford ended with 11 points (3-3 FG, 5-6 FT), 10 rebounds and four blocks in 25 minutes during Thursday's 113-105 win over the Mavericks.

Gafford had his best game of the season on Thursday, connecting on all three of his field goal attempts while going 5-of-6 from the free-throw line for 11 points. He added a season-high 10 rebounds, four of which came in the fourth quarter to help the Wizards maintain the lead down the stretch. Six of Gafford's 12 points also came in the final quarter to give him his first double-double of the season. The Washington center played a season-high 25 minutes and did not disappoint, also adding a game and season-high four blocks.

Gafford provided four points (2-2 FG), one rebound and one block in 10 minutes during Friday's 128-86 loss to the Nets.

Gafford was barely visible in the loss, failing to produce anything remotely close to fantasy value. He has now played fewer than 12 minutes in four straight games, registering a grand total of just six rebounds and three blocks during that time. While there is a path to minutes should Kristaps Porzingis miss time, at this stage, he is simply doing far too little to even be considered in deeper formats.

Gafford totaled 10 points (3-4 FG, 4-5 FT) and four rebounds in 15 minutes during Friday's 127-117 loss to Indiana.

Gafford was efficient and productive in a small workload. While the Wizards opted to stick with small ball, Gafford still co-led the bench unit in scoring. Friday marked his first contest without a block this season, but he'll look to return to the swats column versus Boston on Sunday.

Gafford recorded four points (2-3 FG), three rebounds and five blocks across 26 minutes in Friday's 105-89 preseason loss against the Knicks.

Gafford got the start with Kristaps Porzingis (ankle) out, and while he's expected to hold a bench role if the Latvian is healthy, Gafford might end up having decent value if given enough minutes, which is completely likely given Porzingis' injury history. Gafford looked impressive defensively in this one, but he can also contribute on offense if given enough touches.

Gafford is in the starting lineup for Friday's preseason finale versus the Knicks.

It was his eighth one of the season and first once since March 9 against the Clippers. Gafford has scored in double digits in three of his last six outings.

The 23-year-old is averaging 16.4 points, 10.3 rebounds and 2.6 blocks a night per 36-minutes. Although unlikely to tap into such a role down the stretch, Gafford's metrics flash serious potential

As expected, Gafford will return to the rotation following a one-game absence due to a neck issue. During the six previous games before his absence, he averaged 8.7 points and 3.8 rebounds in 17.3 minutes.

Fantasy managers will want to monitor how coach Wes Unseld distributes minutes amongst his centers, but as long as they are both healthy, they'll likely hinder each other's overall potential.

Gafford is starting Friday's game against the Spurs.

Unseld said Saturday that he intends to keep Bryant in the starting five for at least a few more games, so Gafford doesn't look as though he'll be rejoining the rotation at any point in the near future.

For now, he still appears to have the upper hand at center, but both Bryant (15 points, five rebounds) and Hachimura (11 points, five rebounds) played well Monday, so it wouldn't be a surprise if the trio splits minutes relatively evenly going forward. Bryant, who missed more than a full calendar year with a torn ACL, could even reclaim his starting designation at some point.

Although Bryant's impact was minimal in Saturday's loss, he's expected to get his starting role back when he is at 100 percent, and Harrell has outperformed Gafford in a reserve role on a regular basis.

It wasn't an overly remarkable game for Gafford, who provided fantasy managers with two more blocks, but it's worth noting that he saw only 16 minutes -- his fewest in any game since Dec. 5 -- as Thomas Bryant (knee) made his long-awaited return from a torn ACL. Bryant saw only 11 minutes of action off the bench, but that number figures to gradually creep up as he builds up his confidence and conditioning. With Rui Hachimura also back from an extended personal absence, Gafford's workload will be worth monitoring closely over the next several games. If he ends up in the 15-to-20-minute range on most nights, fantasy managers may have to consider cutting bait.

Gafford continues to provide fantasy managers with lower-end points and rebounds, but shot-blocking is his calling card. On the season, Gafford is up to 1.9 blocks per game, and he has at least one block in six straight contests.

Gafford was extremely efficient since he missed just one shot throughout the entire game, and he also grabbed at least eight boards for the fourth contest in a row. The 19-point output also represented Gafford's second-best scoring mark of the current campaign. The former Bulls big man is averaging 10.5 points per game since the beginning of December, but he's doing it at a very efficient rate since he's made 69.1 percent of his field-goal attempts in that span.

Gafford ended with 11 points (5-6 FG, 1-2 FT), nine rebounds, one assist, five blocks and one steal in 32 minutes during Thursday's 110-93 victory over the Cavaliers.

Gafford shot an efficient 5-of-6 from the field and grabbed nine boards, but his biggest contribution was as a shot blocker. The big man swatted five shots in the victory, which amounted to more blocks than he had racked up in his previous eight games combined. Gafford also has contests with six and eight blocks this season, so his ability to produce in that category is evident. Fantasy managers who roster Gafford would probably like more consistency, however, as prior to Thursday he hadn't notched multiple blocks in a game since Dec. 8.

Gafford finished with 16 points (7-7 FG, 2-2 FT), 11 rebounds, three assists and one steal across 36 minutes during Tuesday's 119-112 loss to the Heat.

Aside from recording his third double-double of December and his fifth of the campaign, it's worth noting that Gafford had an impressive performance from an efficiency standpoint since he didn't miss a single shot in the entire game. Through 13 games in December, Gafford is averaging just 9.8 points and 7.8 rebounds per game, but he's also shooting 65.4 percent from the field. He might benefit from more touches going forward, but the lack of consistency has really hurt his upside.

Gafford finished Saturday's 109-103 victory over Utah with 12 points (5-10 FG, 2-3 FT), nine rebounds, two assists and one block across 28 minutes.

Gafford posted a goose egg in the scoring column in his previous contest, but he bounced back with a strong effort against Rudy Gobert and the Jazz. Gafford fell one board shy of notching a double-double in the win, and he hoisted double-digit shot attempts for the first time since Dec. 1. The big man is averaging just 9.3 points per game in 10 contests this month, but he has established some low-end fantasy value with 7.6 boards and 1.5 blocks over that span.

Gafford had an excellent shooting night and was able to grab a season-high 11 board despite going up against the twin towers of Rudy Gobert and Hassan Whiteside. He did go quiet on the defensive end, however, failing to record a blocked shot after he had six Wednesday night against the Pistons. The 23-year-old still did manage to pick up his fourth double-double of the year and his first since Dec. 1 and figures to continue splitting time with Montrezel Harrell on the floor.

Gafford registered seven points (2-4 FG, 3-4 FT), 10 rebounds, two assists and six blocks in 27 minutes during Wednesday's 119-116 overtime win over the Pistons.

Gafford called in the swat team and moved to fifth in the league in blocked shots (2.1 per game). Advanced metrics have been fond of Gafford's work defensively, as well as offensively, fueling his top-25 rank in player efficiency rating. Given the boom value, he should be rostered in category leagues and is usable in most formats.

Gafford (ankle) returned to Wednesday's contest against the Pistons after heading to the locker room in the first half, Kareem Copeland reports.

The young center has also been very effective defensively as he has now recorded a block in nine consecutive games and is averaging 2.4 blocks per game over that span.

Gafford ended with 11 points (5-7 FG, 1-2 FT), 10 rebounds, three assists and one block in 22 minutes during Monday's 116-99 loss to the Spurs.

Teams have manhandled the Wizards' frontcourt throughout the season, so the double-double by Gafford is an encouraging sign for potential improvement. With no clear timetable for Thomas Bryant's return, it will be up to Gafford and Montrezl Harrell to stabilize the interior in the short term.

Gafford returned to the lineup against the Heat but was unable to have any sort of tangible impact. His lack of versatility does prevent Gafford from being a positive on the court at all times. The starting role appears to be his, for now, but the playing time is certainly not reflective of a typical starter. With that being said, he has enough upside in blocks and rebounds to remain a viable 12-team asset.

Gafford recorded 11 points (5-6 FG, 1-2 FT), eight assists and two blocks across 22 minutes in Sunday's win over the Bucks.

Gafford missed two games at the end of October, but he's been starting every time he's been available and has produced back-to-back double-digit scoring outputs in his last two contests. He also ended just two boards shy of what would've been his first double-double of the season, showing he can do more than just being a complementary offensive alternative for Washington.

Gafford ended with just four points (2-6 FG), five rebounds and three blocks in 15 minutes during Monday's 118-111 loss to the Hawks.

Gafford returned to action Monday, perhaps a little earlier than we might have expected. He moved straight back into the starting lineup but saw just 15 minutes of playing time. The Wizards will likely take a somewhat cautious approach here but he should be back to his normal playing time quite quickly.

After bumping knees with Jaylen Brown in the second quarter, Gafford remained on the floor holding his right leg before he was eventually helped off the court. It has been declared a right quad contusion, but the fact that he may be able to return to this game is a great sign after what appeared to be a very serious injury. If the third-year center cannot return to the floor tonight, he could have a quick turnaround with a game against the Hawks on Thursday.

Gafford agreed to a three-year, $40.2 million contract extension Monday night, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.

Gafford arrived in Washington via trade in March of 2021 and obviously impressed the front office down the stretch of the regular season. He averaged 7.0 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.4 blocks across 54 games during the 2020 campaign and has shown that he's capable of starting at center for this Wizards squad.

Gafford finished Friday's preseason game against the Knicks with 12 points (4-8 FG, 4-8 FT), 10 rebounds, one assist and four blocks.

Making another start with what looks to be the Wizards' Opening Night lineup, Gafford put up another double-double and showed off the shot-blocking that propelled him to fantasy relevance near the end of the 2020-21 regular season. Until Thomas Bryant (knee) is back up to speed, Gafford -- a 2019 second-round pick by the Bulls -- will have a good chance to be Washington's every-night starter at center.

Gafford accumulated 14 points (6-10 FG, 2-4 FT), 17 rebounds and one block in 27 minutes during Tuesday's 113-108 preseason loss to the Raptors.

Gafford has put together a strong preseason, and Tuesday's performance continues to confirm many fantasy managers' belief that he'll be productive as the Wizards' starting center. Things become complicated once Thomas Bryant (knee) returns in December, but Gafford could easily return top-100 value until then.

Thomas Bryant (knee) won't be ready until around December, so the team's starting spot was up for grabs between Gafford and newly-acquired Montrezl Harrell. It appears the team will go with Gafford, who provides upside as a lob finisher and shot-blocker while Harrell can generate some offense by himself with the second unit. In games where Gafford saw at least 24 minutes last season, he averaged 13.0 points, 6.8 rebounds, 3.3 blocks and 1.2 steals.

Gafford registered eight points (3-4 FG, 2-4 FT), seven rebounds, two steals and two blocks in 28 minutes during Wednesday's 129-112 loss to the 76ers.

The 22-year-old upped his streak of at least one blocked shot to six games in Wednesday's series-clinching loss. Gafford had a successful playoff debut, averaging 11.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.0 blocks on 85.4 percent field-goal shooting through five postseason games. The second-year center is a strong candidate to start for Washington in the 2021-2022 season.

Gafford produced 12 points (4-4 FG, 4-7 FT), five blocks, four rebounds and one steal in 26 minutes Monday in the Wizards' 122-114 win over the 76ers in Game 4 of the series.

After playing between 20 and 22 minutes in each of the first three games of the series, Gafford saw a mild uptick in playing time while he joined the starting five in place of Alex Len, who was limited to just one minute of court time. He finished a team-best plus-nine while he was on the floor, with Gafford making his biggest impact as a rim protector. The 76ers lost Joel Embiid early to a knee injury that could end up sidelining him for Wednesday's Game 5, so Gafford may have to match up head-to-head with Dwight Howard more frequently as the Wizards look to stave off elimination.

It's worth noting Gafford has also scored 10 or more points in seven of his last eight appearances, reaching the 15-point mark three times in that span.

Gafford has now scored in double figures in four straight games -- and six of his last seven -- while quietly emerging as the Wizards' most productive option at center. He's still coming off the bench behind Alex Len, but as was the case in Game 1, Gafford (20 minutes played) won the minutes battle over Len (12) and Robin Lopez (10). The Wizards' season will likely be over within the next week, but Gafford will be a player to monitor as a potential late-round steal in 2021-22 fantasy drafts.

Gafford proves to be the best center on the roster regularly, so it's still a mystery as to why coach Scott Brooks remains intent on giving the start to Alex Len, who has suffered through an abysmal collection of stat lines. Although they boast one of the weaker frontcourts in the playoff field, Gafford and Robin Lopez will remain the preferable options at the five.

Gafford continues to perform well in relatively limited action as Washington rolls with Alex Len as the starting center, while Robin Lopez is also in the mix off the bench. Gafford's 21 minutes Friday were his most in any game since May 1, and he outpaced both Len (11 minutes) and Lopez (16). That may not be the case every night, but when the workload is there, Gafford has proven capable of providing serious books production.

Gafford had an efficient offensive performance, as he needed just 17 minutes to score in double figures for the third time in his last six games. The center has averaged 8.8 points (on 73.3 percent shooting from the field) over that stretch and has also added 4.3 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game.

Gafford had 12 points (4-6 FG, 4-7 FT), 10 rebounds, two assists and a block across 14 minutes off the bench in Wednesday's loss at Milwaukee.

Gafford hasn't been able to crack the starting lineup since joining the Wizards, but he seems to be moving in the right direction of late and has scored in double digits in three of his last four contests. He's averaging 10.9 points and 6.2 rebounds per contest over his last 15 outings.

Gafford closed with 15 points (7-7 FG, 1-2 FT), three blocks, two rebounds and one assist in 15 minutes during Monday's 154-141 victory over the Pacers.

Gafford was once again the most impactful big man for the Wizards and yet, the playing time remains frustratingly low. The Wizards are playing winning basketball at the moment and so while we would love to see Gafford step into an increased role, that seems unlikely and so he should be viewed as more of a streamer, as opposed to a must-roster player.

Gafford finished with eight points (4-5 FG) and six rebounds in 13 minutes during Wednesday's 116-107 victory over the Lakers.

Gafford was limited once again and it is beginning to look as though his role may not reach significant heights, at least not on a regular basis. Alex Len had arguably his best game for the Wizards and given they have been winning plenty of games of late, head coach Scott Brooks is unlikely to change things up too much.

Gafford had six points (1-3 FG, 4-6 FT), four rebounds and two blocks in Monday's overtime loss to the Spurs.

With Robin Lopez (ankle) sidelined, there was hope that Gafford would see extended run, but due in part to foul trouble he was limited to 15 minutes of action, while starter Alex Len played 23 minutes. Gafford still found time to block two shots, extending his streak of consecutive games with at least one block to eight.

Gafford recorded 12 points (5-7 FG, 2-3 FT), six rebounds, four steals, four blocks and two assists in 27 minutes off the bench Sunday in the Wizards' 119-110 win over the Cavaliers.

Gafford was all over the place defensively Sunday, with Zach Rosen of the Wizards' official site noting that the center forced six turnovers, deflected four passes and recovered two loose balls during his time on the floor. The Wizards' three-man center rotation makes predicting Gafford's minutes a difficult endeavor on any given night, but coach Scott Brooks may at least have one fewer option at his disposal Monday against the Spurs with Robin Lopez (ankle) listed as questionable for the contest. Gafford has outpaced starter Alex Len in minutes in all but one of Washington's last six games.

Gafford posted 19 points (7-11 FG, 5-9 FT), 10 rebounds and three blocks in 24 minutes during Wednesday's win over the Warriors.

The 22-year-old has been on a roll lately, averaging 14.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.0 blocks while shooting 68.9 percent from the field over his last four games off the bench. Gafford should continue hovering around 20 minutes a game while providing high-end blocks and field-goal percentage along with decent points and rebounds. The second-year center will look to make it five games in a row with at least one block on Thursday against the Thunder.

Gafford had 18 points (7-11 FG, 4-6 FT), seven rebounds and four blocks in Friday's win over the Pelicans.

Gafford came off the bench in the overtime win, but he played more minutes (26) than starter Alex Len (16). The ex-Bull had easily his best game since coming over from Chicago, and he'll be a name to monitor -- especially in deeper leagues -- over the next few games.

Gafford (shoulder) is not on the injury report ahead of Wednesday's game in Sacramento.

Following Monday's win over the Jazz, Gafford admitted to being bothered by a right shoulder issue, but he downplayed the injury and implied that he did not expect to miss any time. It looks like that will, indeed, be the case, and Gafford will look to pick up where he left off after tying his season high with 15 points Monday.

Gafford said after Monday's 125-121 win over the Jazz that he was bothered by his right shoulder late in the contest, Chase Hughes of NBC Sports Washington reports. "It wasn't too fatal," Gafford said of the injury. "I'll be good [Tuesday]."

Gafford appeared to pick up the injury in question while pursuing a rebound in the fourth quarter, but he doesn't appear to have gotten dinged up too badly. Consider Gafford probable for Wednesday's game against the Kings, and he could be in store for an increased role after playing a key part in Monday's upset win. He tied his season high with 15 points on an efficient 6-of-8 shooting from the field and 3-of-4 shooting from the free-throw line while adding four boards and a steal over his 18 minutes on the court.

Gafford scored 15 points (6-8 FG, 3-4 FT) with four rebounds and one steal in a 125-121 victory over Utah on Monday.

Gafford was very efficient in his 17 minutes of action, matching a season-high point total. The center was forced to miss six games due to an ankle injury but has been solid in his first two games back, averaging 12.0 points and 4.5 rebounds across 17.4 minutes. Despite the recent production, Gafford isn't someone to target in most fantasy leagues.

Gafford will be on a minutes limit in Monday's game against Utah, Ava Wallace of The Washington Post reports.

Gafford returned Saturday from a six-game absence and went for nine points, five rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block across 17 minutes. He'll likely be looking at a similar workload for Monday's game as the team eases him back into the rotation after an ankle injury.

Gafford (ankle) is available for Saturday's matchup against the Suns.

A sprained right ankle has cost Gafford the past six games, but he'll be back in action Saturday. In his two appearances with the Wizards, he played well, posting a combined 24 points, 11 rebounds, five blocks and one steal in 29 minutes. His return could reduce the workloads of Robin Lopez and Alex Len.

Gafford was diagnosed with a right ankle sprain and will be reevaluated in 10 days after undergoing an MRI on Tuesday.

The 22-year-old suffered the injury during Monday's matchup with the Pacers and will be sidelined for the immediate future. Gafford could be back on the court in mid-April if all goes well in his recovery.

Gafford was dealt to Washington from Chicago on Thursday but it already appears that he will be active to make his Wizards' debut Saturday. The second-year center out of Arkansas averaged 4.7 points and 3.3 rebounds in 31 games played with the Bulls this season.

The Wizards acquired Gafford and Chandler Hutchison from the Bulls on Thursday in exchange for Moritz Wagner and Troy Brown, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.

The two teams will both exchange a big and a wing who had previously been on the fringe of the rotations for their respective squads for much of the season. Gafford was at least able to enjoy an 11-game run as the Bulls' starting center from late January to mid-February while Wendell Carter was sidelined with a quadriceps contusion, but the Arkansas product wasn't used extensively, averaging 14.9 minutes per contest. Gafford's use had been on the decline since Carter returned to action, but the 22-year-old could see new life in Washington, where head coach Scott Brooks has cycled through three different centers (including Wagner) since Thomas Bryant sustained a season-ending ACL tear in early January. Gafford will be competing for playing time with Alex Len and Robin Lopez, neither of whom the Wizards are likely overly attached to in the long term.

Gafford didn't score in three minutes of action during Monday's win over Houston.

Gafford has all but fallen out of the rotation after starting 11 straight games from Jan. 22 to Feb. 12. Since his last start, Gafford has played a mere eight total minutes in two appearances while being kept sidelined for three.

Gafford will come off the bench Monday against the Pacers, Chuck Swirsky of the Bulls Radio Network reports.

The 22-year-old will return to a bench role with Wendell Carter (quadriceps) retaking the court for the first time in nearly a month. Gafford averaged 5.3 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in 14.9 minutes while starting the past 11 games, so he'll likely have a minor role off the bench now that Carter is back in action.

Gafford has also stepped up his defensive stats of late, as he has at least one block in four consecutive contests -- including five in his last two games combined.

Gafford has been in the starting lineup during each of the last seven games, but he's topped 20 minutes just once during that time. His modest shot volume has limited his scoring output, but he's been somewhat productive on the boards, averaging 4.9 rebounds per game across the past seven contests.

Gafford scored 13 points (6-8 FG, 0-1 FT) to go along with nine rebounds across 22 minutes in Monday's win over the Knicks.

It was hardly a standout stat line from Gafford, but he topped 20 minutes for the first time since Wendell Carter (quadriceps) has been sidelined. He also improved his level of play, scoring double-digit points for the first time since Jan. 3 and recording a season-high nine rebounds. While there's no guarantee Gafford will maintain this role moving forward, he showed the capability of filling in for Carter at any reasonable level for the first time.

Gafford is starting Friday's game against the Hornets, Sam Perley of Hornets.com reports.

With Wendell Carter (thigh) out Friday and likely Saturday, Gafford should start both contests. In games where Gafford has seen more than 15 minutes this season, he's averaging 7.3 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.2 blocks, 1.2 steals and 1.2 assists.

Gafford should continue to operate as Chicago's backup center, and his opportunities will remain limited while Carter is healthy.
