Keep up with the latest injuries from the Kings vs Trail Blazers game on Thursday with our National Basketball Association injury report.Dec 8, 2025
Will play Monday
Murray (trap) is available for Monday's game against the Pacers, James Ham of ESPN 1320 Sacramento reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray is nursing right trapezius soreness, but the issue isn't enough to prevent him from suiting up. The sharpshooter should be able to handle his normal workload. On the campaign, Murray has averaged 16.4 points, 7.1 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.5 blocks in 37.9 minutes per game through eight appearances.
Dec 7, 2025
Questionable for Monday
Murray is questionable for Monday's game in Indiana due to right trapezius soreness.
ANALYSIS
Murray is dealing with a sore shooting arm, but we'll have a better idea on his availability for Monday's game based on his activity level at shootaround. If Murray can't give it a go, Precious Achiuwa and Nique Clifford would have the opportunity for some extended minutes.
Dec 4, 2025
Tough shooting night Wednesday
Murray notched five points (2-11 FG, 1-5 3Pt), 11 rebounds, one assist, two blocks and one steal in 37 minutes during Wednesday's 121-95 loss to the Rockets.
ANALYSIS
After scoring in double digits in six straight games (five starts) following his belated season debut due to thumb surgery, Murray couldn't get his shot to fall against the Houston defense. The fourth-year forward still pulled down double-digit boards for the third time in the last five games while recording multiple rejections for the third time in the last four, and since rejoining the starting five Nov. 22, Murray is averaging 17.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.3 steals, 1.8 assists, 1.7 blocks and 1.7 threes.
Dec 1, 2025
Big night on defensive end Sunday
Murray notched 12 points (5-12 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 2-4 FT), two rebounds, one assist, three blocks and five steals across 36 minutes during Sunday's 115-107 loss to the Grizzlies.
ANALYSIS
The five steals, and the eight combined stocks, were career highs for Murray, although the rest of his production lagged Sunday. The fourth-year forward is still trying to find his footing after missing the first month of the season while recovering from thumb surgery, but in his first five starts of 2025-26 he's averaging 19.8 points, 7.8 boards, 2.6 steals, 2.0 assists, 1.8 threes and 1.6 blocks while seeing a massive 40.0 minutes a contest due to the absence of Domantas Sabonis (knee).
Nov 29, 2025
Double-doubles with three steals
Murray logged 23 points (9-18 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 4-4 FT), 10 rebounds, three assists, one block and three steals across 45 minutes during Friday's 128-119 loss to the Jazz.
ANALYSIS
Murray tied his career-high in steals in this one, and he's now recorded multiple steals in three of his past four games. He's been locked in over that four-game stretch, posting averages of 21.8 points, 9.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 2.3 triples, 2.0 steals and 1.3 blocks per game, and he hasn't committed a single turnover across 163 total minutes.
Nov 27, 2025
Strong all-around showing
Murray amassed 19 points (7-16 FG, 2-9 3Pt, 3-4 FT), eight rebounds, three assists, one block and two steals in 38 minutes during Wednesday's 112-100 loss to the Suns.
ANALYSIS
Murray finished just two rebounds shy of a double-double, and he also co-led the Kings in scoring with Russell Westbrook. The forward has made just four appearances this season, and given that he's scored 19 or more points in each of the last three, he seems set to have a significant role on offense for a struggling Kings team.
Nov 25, 2025
Excels with double-double in OT win
Murray notched 26 points (10-19 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 3-3 FT), 14 rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal over 44 minutes during Monday's 117-112 overtime win over the Timberwolves.
ANALYSIS
Any doubt about Murray's preparedness following his return was erased Monday night, as he took a huge leadership role in a frontcourt that desperately needed his help. Drew Eubanks has been a disappointment as Domantas Sabonis' (hamstring) fill-in, and although Precious Achiuwa has had some promising moments, Murray's insertion provides the offensive punch the Kings need, accompanied by proficient work under the basket. Murray's 14 rebounds marked his best total since November 10 of last year, when he had an identical total against Phoenix.
Nov 23, 2025
Scores 19 in return to first unit
Murray totaled 19 points (7-14 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds, one assist, one block and two steals over 37 minutes during Saturday's 128-123 win over Denver.
ANALYSIS
Murray made his season debut Thursday night, but he logged his first start in Saturday's dramatic win. His 33 minutes on the floor during Thursday's game were a true test of Murray's durability following offseason thumb surgery. His promotion to the starting five indicates all systems are go for Murray to play maximum minutes moving forward.
Nov 22, 2025
Starting vs. Denver
Murray will start Saturday's game against the Nuggets, Sean Cunningham of Fox 40 Sacramento reports.
ANALYSIS
After coming off the bench during his season debut in Thursday's loss to the Grizzlies, Murray will supplant Precious Achiuwa in the starting lineup Saturday. Over 33 minutes Thursday, Murray posted 11 points (5-13 FG, 1-6 3Pt), three rebounds and one assist.
Nov 21, 2025
Scores 11 points in blowout defeat
Murray closed Thursday's 137-96 loss to the Grizzlies with 11 points (5-13 FG, 1-6 3Pt), three rebounds and one assist over 33 minutes.
ANALYSIS
It's hard to highlight many Sacramento players following a 39-point loss like Thursday's, but Murray was one of the few players who posted a solid line across the board despite his shooting struggles. This was the first appearance of the 2025-26 season for Murray, and he made the most of his minutes off the bench. Murray should eventually return to the starting lineup in place of Precious Achiuwa, which might happen as soon as Saturday on the road against the Nuggets.
Nov 20, 2025
Coming off bench Thursday
Murray will be deployed off the bench in his 2025-26 debut Thursday against the Grizzlies, Chris Biderman of The Sacramento Bee reports.
ANALYSIS
The Kings will presumably ease Murray back into the swing of things after missing the first month of the season recovering from thumb surgery. Precious Achiuwa will remain the starter at power forward for now, but expect Murray to take back over once he acclimates over the next few games.
Nov 20, 2025
Cleared to play Thursday
Murray (thumb) will play Thursday against the Grizzlies.
ANALYSIS
Murray will officially make his season debut Thursday after missing the first 15 games of the campaign recovering from thumb surgery. With this being his first game back, Murray could face restrictions, but his upside going forward should be really solid in category formats as a source of points, rebounds, three-pointers and defensive stats.
Nov 18, 2025
Expected to play Thursday
Murray (thumb) is expected to make his season debut against the Grizzlies on Thursday, Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee reports. He was also recalled from the G League's Stockton Kings on Tuesday, according to Marc J. Spears of ESPN.com.
ANALYSIS
Murray joined Stockton for practice Monday and is now expected to suit up for the parent club against Memphis. The 25-year-old forward underwent surgery in October to address a torn UCL in his left thumb, and he could face restrictions in his first handful of games. If Murray is ultimately cleared to play, Russell Westbrook, Precious Achiuwa and Nique Clifford are candidates to see a dip in minutes Thursday.
Nov 17, 2025
Assigned to G League
Murray (thumb) has been assigned to the G League as he prepares to make his season debut.
ANALYSIS
Murray has been out for the start of the regular season with a thumb injury, but is progressing in his eventual return as he will practice with the Stockton Kings of the G League. While a time table for his return has yet to be established, Murray is expected to make his season debut in the comnig weeks, where he would slide into the starting lineup presumably over Keon Ellis.
Oct 15, 2025
Receives contract extension
The Kings signed Murray (thumb) to a five-year, $140 million rookie contract extension Wednesday, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray is recovering from a torn UCL ligament in his left thumb, which will keep him sidelined into the middle of November, at least. The 25-year-old forward has averaged at least 12 points per game in all three of his professional seasons, and he set a career high in 2024-25 in rebounds with 6.7 per game. He's started in 231 of 233 games since being selected by the Kings in the 2022 NBA Draft. Murray's efforts have earned him a significant extension, locking him in Sacramento for the long term.
Oct 12, 2025
Out 4-6 weeks
Murray (thumb) will undergo surgery and will be sidelined for four-to-six weeks, Frankie Cartoscelli of KHTK Sactown Sports 1140 reports.
ANALYSIS
This is a tough blow for Murray and the Kings. Based on this timetable, Murray will likely be sidelined until at least Nov. 14 against the Timberwolves. That's the front end of that timetable, however, and that means a minimum of 10 regular-season games on the shelf. In Murray's absence, the Kings could roll with a smaller lineup by moving DeMar DeRozan over to the four, and it could create more opportunities for guys like Nique Clifford, Malik Monk and Keon Ellis.
Oct 10, 2025
Exits game with thumb injury
Murray exited Friday's exhibition with a left thumb injury and he will not return, Marc J. Spears of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hopefully, this is just a minor thumb issue, but the timing isn't ideal, with the regular season just a few weeks away. The Kings don't play again until Wednesday against the Clippers, but don't be surprised if Murray skips that one to ensure his thumb can fully recover. His absence would open up some minutes for Dario Saric and Isaac Jones.
Apr 12, 2025
Scores nine points in return
Murray amassed nine points (3-9 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT), eight rebounds, one assist and two steals over 32 minutes during Friday's 101-100 loss to the Clippers.
ANALYSIS
Murray returned to the hardwood following a three-game absence due to a back injury, but his performance wasn't eye-popping by any means. In fact, Murray only made 33.3 percent of his shots and struggled to get into any kind of offensive rhythm all game long. Murray should remain in the starting unit as long as he remains healthy, which should translate into fewer minutes for Trey Lyles going forward.
Apr 11, 2025
Cleared to play
Murray (back) is available for Friday's game against the Clippers.
ANALYSIS
Murray was able to shake off a questionable tag and will be returning from a three-game absence. With Murray back in the mix, Trey Lyles is likely to lose a considerable amount of playing time for the Kings.
Apr 10, 2025
Could return Friday
Murray (back) is questionable for Friday's game against the Clippers.
ANALYSIS
Murray has been sidelined for three straight games due to a back issue. The team will presumably monitor how the Iowa product feels during shootaround before releasing another update on his availability for Friday.
Apr 9, 2025
Won't play vs. Denver
Murray (back) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Nuggets, Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray will miss a third straight game for the Kings on Wednesday as he continues to deal with a back issue. Sacramento will likely lean on Trey Lyles to help shoulder the load against Denver.
Apr 8, 2025
Iffy against Denver
Murray (back) is listed as questionable for Wednesday's game versus the Nuggets.
ANALYSIS
Murray is in danger of missing his third straight contest Wednesday due to lower back inflammation. If Murray is downgraded to out yet again, Trey Lyles should continue to start in his absence.
Apr 7, 2025
Ruled out Monday
Murray (back) is out for Monday's game against the Pistons, Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray was initially listed as questionable, but the Kings aren't going to take risks with the big man, as back injuries can become problematic in no time. Trey Lyles should take his place in the lineup Monday, whereas Murray's next chance to return to action will come against the Nuggets on Wednesday.
Apr 7, 2025
Iffy for Monday
Murray (back) is questionable for Monday's game against Detroit.
ANALYSIS
Murray missed Sunday's game against the Cavaliers, and he's not a guarantee to suit up for the second leg of this back-to-back set. If Murray misses another contest, Trey Lyles would be on the streaming radar again after logging 40 minutes Sunday.
Apr 6, 2025
Won't play Sunday
Murray (back) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Cavaliers, Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray won't be available for the Kings on Sunday due to a back issue. Jake LaRavia (thumb) will also miss this game in Cleveland, which means the team will probably lean on Trey Lyles, Issac Jones and Doug McDermott to pick up the slack in the frontcourt.
Apr 5, 2025
Iffy against Cleveland
Murray is listed as questionable for Sunday's game versus the Cavaliers due to a left thumb bone contusion.
ANALYSIS
Murray is in danger of missing his first game since Jan. 3 due to a bone bruise in his left thumb. If Murray is downgraded to out, Trey Lyles will likely receive increased playing time.
Apr 3, 2025
Fills stat sheet vs. Washington
Murray chipped in 18 points (7-14 FG, 4-10 3Pt), five rebounds, three assists, one block and two steals in 35 minutes during Wednesday's 116-111 loss to Washington.
ANALYSIS
Even though Murray holds a secondary role on offense for the Kings, there's no question he's been trending in the right direction with his play over the last few weeks. He's scored in double digits in all but one of his last 11 appearances, a stretch in which he's averaging 14.8 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.2 blocks per game while shooting 48.8 percent from the floor and 42.3 percent from three-point range.
Mar 26, 2025
Pours in 28 points
Murray chipped in 28 points (9-15 FG, 9-13 3Pt, 1-2 FT), six rebounds, three blocks and one steal across 37 minutes during Tuesday's 121-105 loss to Oklahoma City.
ANALYSIS
Murray scored a season-high 28 points in the losing effort, and his nine makes from beyond the arc was the second-highest mark of his career -- he made 12 three-pointers in a game back on Dec. 16 of 2023. Murray has been on a heater for the Kings lately, averaging 14.1 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 0.9 steals, 1.1 blocks and 3.3 three-pointers over his last eight games.
Mar 23, 2025
Flirts with double-double in loss
Murray accumulated 13 points (5-12 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 1-1 FT), nine rebounds, one assist and two blocks in 33 minutes during Saturday's 114-108 loss to the Bucks.
ANALYSIS
Murray came one rebound shy of a double-double, marking his second consecutive game with nine rebounds. Although Jonas Valanciunas is holding down the fort in place of Domantas Sabonis (ankle), Murray's frontcourt responsibilities have sharply increased since the team lost their marquee center. The Iowa product has recorded five consecutive double-digit scoring totals and has experienced a significant uptick in rebounds. The third-year pro is certainly worthy of fantasy consideration while Sabonis is out.
Mar 18, 2025
Notches 16 points
Murray registered 16 points (6-14 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 1-1 FT), 10 rebounds and two steals in 33 minutes during Monday's 132-122 victory over Memphis.
ANALYSIS
Domantas Sabonis (ankle) left this game early, and it's not clear if he'll miss additional time. The Kings have a back-to-back set coming up Wednesday, and Murray could have more usage coming his way with Sabonis' status in jeopardy. Murray has been pretty quiet lately, averaging 12.1 points on 42.0 percent shooting over his last seven outings.
Mar 11, 2025
Struggles in blowout loss
Murray chipped in nine points (4-11 FG, 1-6 3Pt), two rebounds and one steal over 30 minutes during Monday's 133-104 loss to the Knicks.
ANALYSIS
The Kings were blown out of this game and did not get much offense out of Murray and DeMar DeRozan as they combined to score 20 points. This was just a bump in the road for Murray, however, as he's been solid over his last 10 games. In that stretch, Murray has been a seventh-round value in nine-category formats with averages of 14.2 points, 5.4 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 0.6 steals, 0.7 blocks and 2.6 three-pointers.
Mar 8, 2025
Flirts with double-double in win
Murray racked up 19 points (7-14 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT), nine rebounds, one assist and two blocks over 35 minutes during Friday's 127-109 win over San Antonio.
ANALYSIS
Murray and DeMar DeRozan have stepped up during Domantas Sabonis' (hamstring) absence. They've pitched in with interior defense to assist Jonas Valanciunas, with Murray looking especially solid off the glass. He's logged 17 rebounds over three games since Sabonis' exit and has recorded double-digit scoring totals in seven of his last eight games.
Mar 4, 2025
Records 18 points in win
Murray amassed 18 points (6-10 FG, 4-8 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds and three assists across 25 minutes during Monday's 122-98 win over the Mavericks.
ANALYSIS
With Domantas Sabonis set to miss some time with a hamstring issue, Murray could offer a bit more offensive upside in the short term. He's been trending up in recent games as well, posting top-60 value in nine-category formats over his last 10 games with averages of 14.1 points, 6.1 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 0.9 steals, 0.8 blocks and 2.5 three-pointers.
Feb 27, 2025
Strikes for season-high 26
Murray racked up 26 points (9-16 FG, 5-10 3Pt, 3-4 FT), six rebounds, two assists and two blocks over 33 minutes during Wednesday's 118-101 win over the Jazz.
ANALYSIS
The third-year forward led all scorers on the night while setting a new season high in points. Murray hadn't even reached 20 points in a game since Nov. 24, and his complementary role in the Kings' offense didn't change much when De'Aaron Fox was swapped out for Zach LaVine. Over 11 games in February, Murray is averaging 13.5 points, 6.3 boards, 2.4 threes, 1.5 assists, 0.9 blocks and 0.8 steals.
Feb 25, 2025
Notches 10 points
Murray recorded 10 points (4-9 FG, 2-6 3Pt), five rebounds and two steals over 25 minutes during Monday's 130-88 victory over Charlotte.
ANALYSIS
This was a quiet showing for Murray, but he saw limited minutes because of how quickly the Kings ran away with this contest. Over his last 10 games, Murray has been pretty reliable with eighth-round value in nine-category fantasy leagues. In that stretch, Murray produced 12.2 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 0.9 steals, 0.8 blocks and 2.1 three-pointers.
Feb 14, 2025
Nears double-double in loss
Murray provided 13 points (5-11 FG, 3-9 3Pt), eight rebounds, three assists and one steal over 36 minutes during Thursday's 140-133 overtime loss to the Pelicans.
ANALYSIS
Murray nearly recorded his 12th double-double of the season Thursday, though he struggled from beyond the arc in the loss. The 24-year-old has struggled with efficiency for most of the season, and he has shot only 30.0 percent from three-point range in his last five outings. Murray is on pace to shoot a career-low 32.2 percent from downtown to go along with a career-low 43.5 percent from the field.
Feb 9, 2025
Makes impact at both ends of court
Murray recorded 19 points (7-15 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 3-3 FT), eight rebounds, three blocks and two steals over 36 minutes during Saturday's 123-118 win over New Orleans.
ANALYSIS
The third-year forward produced multiple blocks and steals in the same game for the first time since Jan. 25 while posting his best scoring effort since Jan. 10. Murray may end up seeing his shot volume decline a little more once Zach LaVine is fully integrated into the Kings' lineup, but he should still be a force at the defensive end. Over the last 10 games, Murray is averaging 13.1 points, 6.4 boards, 1.8 threes, 1.2 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.0 blocks while shooting 50.0 percent from the floor.
Feb 4, 2025
Hits for 19 in Minnesota
Murray closed with 19 points (7-11 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 3-4 FT), seven rebounds, one assist and one steal over 40 minutes during Monday's 116-114 win over the Timberwolves.
ANALYSIS
The third-year forward posted his best scoring effort since Jan. 10, but Murray hasn't been able to reach the 20-point mark since Nov. 24. His shot volume has fallen this season as he tries to find his place alongside ball-dominant players like DeMar DeRozan, and the trade that swapped De'Aaron Fox out for Zach LaVine isn't likely to open up more looks for Murray.
Feb 1, 2025
Efficient night from deep in loss
Murray registered 14 points (5-10 FG, 4-5 3Pt), five rebounds, one assist and one block in 28 minutes during Saturday's 144-110 loss to the Thunder.
ANALYSIS
Murray enjoyed an efficient night shooting the ball from deep Saturday, hitting at least four three-pointers for the first time since burying five threes in the Jan. 10 win over Boston. The 2022 first-rounder has averaged 12.3 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.3 steals, 1.0 blocks and 1.8 three-pointers per game across his last eight outings. Murray is shooting 50.0 percent from the field and 34.1 percent from downtown during this period.
Jan 26, 2025
Stuffs stat sheet in loss
Murray posted 12 points (5-11 FG, 2-7 3Pt), eight rebounds, four assists, three steals and two blocks in 39 minutes during Saturday's 143-120 loss to the Knicks.
ANALYSIS
The third-year forward delivered a nicely balanced stat line despite the loss, contributing in every facet of the game along the way and fell just two boards short of what would've been his 12th double-double of the season. Although Murray has struggled to score efficiently this season, he looked to turn a corner in January, shooting 40.9 percent from three compared to 28.6 percent from October through December. He'll look to keep building Monday against the Nets.
Jan 23, 2025
Bounces back against Golden State
Murray notched 13 points (6-11 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 0-1 FT), three rebounds, one assist, two blocks and one steal in 34 minutes during Wednesday's 123-117 win over the Warriors.
ANALYSIS
Murray scored single-digit points against Washington but responded with a solid out against Golden State. Murray is averaging 11.3 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 34.8 minutes across his previous 10 outings.
Jan 7, 2025
Double-doubles in win
Murray ended Monday's 123-118 double-overtime victory over the Heat with 14 points (5-10 FG, 4-6 3Pt), 12 rebounds, one assist and one block across 43 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Murray got back to form in the win over the Heat, filling up the stat sheet with a double-double while hitting his second-highest total from deep (4-for-6) this season. It was the 11th time this season that Murray has posted a double-double, which is a good sign after missing two of the last four games for the Kings due to an ankle injury.
Jan 5, 2025
Back in starting lineup Sunday
Murray is in the Kings' starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Warriors, Anthony Slater of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray missed the last two games due to left-ankle soreness. He will return for Sunday's game and be inserted into the starting lineup due to the absence of De'Aaron Fox (hip). Since Dec. 1, Murray has averaged 10.3 points, 6.6 rebounds, 0.9 assists and 0.9 blocks over 33.5 minutes per game.
Jan 5, 2025
Good to go Sunday
Murray (ankle) is listed as available for Sunday's game against the Warriors.
ANALYSIS
Murray will return to action following a two-game absence due to left ankle soreness. The 24-year-old has struggled with efficiency of late, and in his last five outings, he has averaged 8.0 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.0 assists while shooting 31.8 percent from the field across 31.4 minutes per contest.
Jan 5, 2025
Expected to play Sunday
Murray (ankle), who's officially listed as questionable, is expected to play Sunday against the Warriors, NBA reporter Mark Haynes reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray missed two straight games due to left ankle soreness but should be back in the starting lineup Sunday, though De'Aaron Fox (hip) is unlikely to suit up. Across 12 December outings, Murray averaged 10.3 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.7 steals-plus-blocks in 33.5 minutes per game.
Jan 4, 2025
Questionable for Sunday
Murray (ankle) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Warriors, Frankie Cartoscelli of KHTK Sactown Sports 1140 reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray has missed the past two games for the Kings, but he appears to be trending in the right direction -- he was able to do some individual work at Saturday's practice. If Murray isn't able to suit up for the first leg of this back-to-back set, Keon Ellis and Trey Lyles could see extended run.
Jan 3, 2025
Won't play Friday vs. Memphis
Murray (ankle) has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Grizzlies, James Ham of ESPN 1320 Sacramento reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray will miss his second straight game due to left ankle soreness, and his next opportunity to play will be Sunday against the Warriors. Trey Lyles and Keon Ellis will each see their roles expand Friday due to Murray's absence.
Jan 2, 2025
Unlikely to go vs. Grizzlies
Murray (ankle) is doubtful for Friday's game against Memphis.
ANALYSIS
Murray appears in line to miss his second straight game while dealing with left ankle soreness. Keon Ellis and Trey Lyles would be in line for more opportunities assuming Murray is ultimately downgraded to out.
Jan 1, 2025
Won't play due to ankle soreness
Murray (ankle) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the 76ers, Brenden Nunes of KHTK Sactown Sports 1140 reports.
ANALYSIS
Initially listed as doubtful to play, Murray will miss his first game since Dec. 16 due to left ankle soreness. With Joel Embiid (rest) sidelined on the other side for Philadelphia, the Kings could opt to go small and move either Keon Ellis or Kevin Huerter into the starting lineup Wednesday, but Trey Lyles is also a candidate to join the first unit. Friday's matchup with Memphis marks Murray's next opportunity to play.
Dec 31, 2024
Nursing ankle issue
Murray is listed as doubtful for Wednesday's game against the 76ers due to left ankle soreness, Brenden Nunes of KHTK Sactown Sports 1140 reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray hasn't looked quite himself lately, averaging 8.0 points on 31.8 percent shooting from the field over his last five games, though it's unclear how long he's been dealing with this injury. Doug McDermott would be a solid candidate to start in Murray's place Wednesday, assuming he's ultimately ruled out closer to tipoff.
Dec 31, 2024
Back-to-back poor performances
Murray accumulated four points (2-8 FG, 0-3 3Pt), six rebounds, one assist and two steals over 36 minutes during Monday's 110-100 victory over the Mavericks.
ANALYSIS
Murray is currently shooting a career-low 41.3% from the floor this season. He can't seem to get his shot to drop, which has become an ugly trend for the young guard in Sacramento.
Dec 27, 2024
Logs double-double in loss
Murray totaled 11 points (4-11 FG, 1-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 12 rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal over 37 minutes during Thursday's 114-113 loss to Detroit.
ANALYSIS
Murray needed to step things up without Domantas Sabonis (illness) in the lineup, and he gave the team the rebound boost it needed during a poor shooting night. Absorbing Sabonis' production is no easy feat, and Murray's errant shot, coupled with tepid numbers from Alex Len diluted Sacramento's potential. The Kings stuck with Detroit despite Sabonis' absence, and his eventual return will shift Murray back into a more customary role.
Dec 22, 2024
Available Sunday
Murray (ankle) is listed as available for Sunday's game against the Pacers.
ANALYSIS
Murray will give it a go Sunday after receiving a questionable tag due to left ankle soreness. The 24-year-old should be able to shoulder his normal workload against Indiana, and over his last five outings, he has averaged 12.4 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.0 blocks across 30.8 minutes per contest.
Dec 22, 2024
Iffy to face Indiana
Murray (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Pacers.
ANALYSIS
The 24-year-old will join Domantas Sabonis (ankle) and Trey Lyles (calf) on the injury report due to left ankle soreness. If Murray is sidelined, Doug McDermott, Keon Ellis and Isaac Jones could see an uptick in playing time Sunday.
Dec 21, 2024
Cleared to face Lakers
Murray (ankle) is available for Saturday's game against the Lakers, Deuce Mason of NBC Sports California reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray will suit up Saturday after being labeled questionable due to left ankle soreness. The third-year forward is averaging a career-high 7.7 rebounds per game this season but is averaging 2.9 fewer points per game than he did in 2023-24. However, Murray would be in line for more usage Saturday if Domantas Sabonis (back) is sidelined.
Dec 20, 2024
Questionable to play Saturday
Murray (ankle) is listed as questionable for Saturday's game against the Lakers, Frankie Cartoscelli of KHTK Sactown Sports 1140 reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray was sidelined for this past Monday's game against the Nuggets due to left ankle soreness. He was able to return Thursday against the Lakers and finished with 10 points, seven rebounds, one assist, two steals and one block over 35 minutes. Keon Ellis and Kevin Huerter would be the top candidates to enter the Kings' starting five Saturday if Murray is unable to play.
Dec 19, 2024
Officially good to go
Murray (ankle) is available for Thursday's game versus the Lakers, Sean Cunningham of Fox 40 Sacramento reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray has been upgraded from questionable to available Thursday despite missing Sacramento's previous contest with left ankle soreness. The 24-year-old forward is averaging 112.0 points, 7.1 rebounds, 1.2 blocks and 1.0 assists in 35.2 minutes across his last 10 outings.
Dec 19, 2024
Tabbed questionable
Murray (ankle) is listed as questionable for Thursday's game against the Lakers.
ANALYSIS
Murray didn't play in Monday's game due to left ankle soreness and was absent from practice Wednesday. His availability for Thursday's tilt remains up in the air, and he may need to test out the ankle pregame before being ruled in or out. If he doesn't suit up, Doug McDermott and Keon Ellis could see more opportunities.
Dec 18, 2024
Sits out practice Wednesday
Murray (ankle) did not practice Wednesday, Brenden Nunes of KHTK Sactown Sports 1140 reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray missed his first game of the 2024-25 regular season Monday due to left ankle soreness, and he's still less than 100 percent. Murray's status for Thursday's game against the Lakers is up in the air, but there should be more clarity when the Kings release their injury report Wednesday evening. If Murray misses more time, Keon Ellis and Doug McDermott could both benefit from a fantasy perspective.
Dec 16, 2024
Won't play Monday vs. Denver
Murray (ankle) has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Nuggets, Frankie Cartoscelli of KHTK Sactown Sports 1140 reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray will miss his first game of the 2024-25 regular season Monday due to left ankle soreness, and his next opportunity to play will be Thursday against the Lakers. He had scored in double digits in four of the Kings' last five games and averaged 13.2 points and 7.4 rebounds across 34.4 minutes per contest over that span. Murray's absence Monday should mean more minutes for Colby Jones and Jae Crowder.
Dec 16, 2024
Iffy against Denver
Murray is questionable to play against the Nuggets on Monday due to left ankle soreness.
ANALYSIS
Murray was a very late addition to the injury report, and that's a concerning sign for fantasy managers. The Kings will already be without Kevin Huerter (shoulder) as well. If Murray is unable to suit up, the Kings could potentially turn to Jae Crowder or Doug McDermott.
Dec 13, 2024
Efficient in victory
Murray contributed 18 points (7-14 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 1-1 FT) and nine rebounds in 34 minutes during Thursday's 111-109 win over the Pelicans.
ANALYSIS
Murray's 18 points were his most since Nov. 24. The 24-year-old guard has struggled with his efficiency from behind the arc this season, converting just 29.9 percent of his 5.5 three-point attempts per contest.
Dec 6, 2024
Records double-double
Murray notched 11 points (4-12 FG, 1-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 11 rebounds, two assists and two steals in 40 minutes during Thursday's 115-110 loss to the Grizzlies.
ANALYSIS
Murray struggled from the field, as he ended with more field goal attempts than points scored, but he produced enough to deliver his eighth double-double of the season. However, given that he's gone six straight games without reaching the 15-point mark, and knowing he holds a secondary role in an offense led by the likes of DeMar DeRozan, De'Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis, Murray isn't likely to post big numbers on a regular basis. The role he has in the Kings' offensive scheme certainly conspires against his fantasy upside.
Nov 25, 2024
Comes close to double-double
Murray logged 21 points (7-14 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 6-8 FT), eight rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal over 36 minutes during Sunday's 108-103 loss to the Nets.
ANALYSIS
Murray was a consistent performer on both ends of the court for the Kings in this one, and he finished just two boards away from recording a double-double. This was just the third game in which Murray reached the 20-point mark, however, and his lack of consistency on a game-to-game basis, as well as his reduced role in an offensive scheme that also features Domantas Sabonis, De'Aaron Fox and DeMar DeRozan, limit his upside in most formats.
Nov 19, 2024
Fouls out in 22 minutes
Murray amassed seven points (3-9 FG, 1-3 3Pt), seven rebounds, one assist and two steals across 22 minutes before fouling out of Monday's 109-108 loss to the Hawks.
ANALYSIS
Murray saw a season-low 22 minutes as a result of fouling out in the loss. He's had a tough season for the most part, particularly with his perimeter shooting. Through 15 regular-season games, he's hitting just 29.9 percent from beyond the arc.
Nov 16, 2024
Double-double in OT loss
Murray notched 14 points (6-15 FG, 2-7 3Pt), 10 rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal over 45 minutes during Friday's 130-126 overtime loss to the Timberwolves.
ANALYSIS
The third-year forward has taken a big step forward in 2024-25 when it comes to his production on the glass. Murray has pulled down double-digit boards in six of nine games to begin November, averaging 13.7 points, 8.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.7 threes and 0.8 blocks on the month, and Friday's double-double was his sixth of the season.
Nov 12, 2024
Quiet in loss
Murray ended with five points (2-7 FG, 1-5 3Pt), three rebounds and one assist across 29 minutes during Monday's 116-96 loss to San Antonio.
ANALYSIS
This was Murray's second dud over his last three appearances, as he couldn't find his rhythm from the field. He's had a bit of a rough start to the campaign so far, averaging 13.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.7 three-pointers in the opening 11 games. He's been particularly cold from beyond the arc, hitting 27.9 percent of his attempts.
Nov 11, 2024
Season-high 14 boards
Murray amassed 14 points (5-11 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 14 rebounds and one assist in 43 minutes during Sunday's 127-118 overtime victory over the Suns.
ANALYSIS
Murray's 14 boards were a season-high mark. He's grabbed double-digit rebounds in three straight, five of his last seven games and six times overall this season. The addition of DeMar DeRozan hasn't impacted Murray's ability to rack up stats, though the latter has been ice-cold from deep to start the campaign. Murray is shooting 28.6 percent from deep through 10 games after posting a 35.8 percent clip from downtown last year and a 41.4 percent mark as a rookie.
Nov 7, 2024
Records 22/12 double-double
Murray closed Wednesday's 122-107 win over Toronto with 22 points (9-17 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 1-2 FT), 12 rebounds, three assists and one block across 35 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Murray has taken a significant leap forward this season, most notably as a rebounder. He averaged only 5.5 rebounds per game during his 2023-24 campaign, a stark contrast to his average of 8.3 boards over the first eight games of the season. Although DeMar DeRozan was expected to cut into Murray's production, the exact opposite has occurred, with Murray enjoying a prolific start in an adjusted role.
Nov 2, 2024
Records double-double Friday
Murray amassed 14 points (6-12 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 1-1 FT), 10 rebounds, three assists and one block in 39 minutes during Friday's 123-115 victory over the Hawks.
ANALYSIS
Murray has been relegated to being the Kings' fourth option on offense behind De'Aaron Fox, DeMar DeRozan, and Domantas Sabonis. However, the forward should occasionally put in strong performances. This was his second double-double of the season across five outings, and the third-year forward has opened the campaign with averages of 14.2 points and 7.6 boards across 37.4 minutes per tilt.
Oct 25, 2024
Debuts with double-double
Murray posted 23 points (8-17 FG, 5-10 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 11 rebounds and two assists over 43 minutes during Thursday's 117-115 loss to Minnesota.
ANALYSIS
Murray only had eight double-doubles last season, with a lack of rebounding opportunities providing the primary barrier for more. Murray took a big leap forward as a scorer in 2023-24, increasing his nightly average three points from his rookie season. His three-point volume in the opener suggests that the perimeter game will be a greater focus after averaging 6.6 attempts per game beyond the arc during his sophomore season. The rebound increase could be due to the departure of Harrison Barnes, who was often at Murray's position but did not rebound as effectively.
Oct 16, 2024
Heavy shot volume in loss
Murray produced 21 points (8-19 FG, 5-11 3Pt), five rebounds, two steals and an assist across 37 minutes in Tuesday's 117-114 preseason loss to the Jazz.
ANALYSIS
Although Murray is an effective shooter, his shot volume from the perimeter was uncharacteristic compared to his first two seasons with the Kings. He averaged 6.6 three-point attempts per game last season and made 10 or more attempts just 14 times. It's an encouraging sign for Murray, who could still be negatively affected by the arrival of DeMar DeRozan. If preseason results are any indication, the current combination is working well between the two wing men.
Oct 12, 2024
Busy at defensive end Friday
Murray scored 17 points (5-11 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 6-8 FT) while adding five steals, two assists, one rebound and one block in 26 minutes during Friday's 109-106 preseason loss to the Warriors.
ANALYSIS
The Kings' new-look starting lineup with DeMar DeRozan appeared to be just about in midseason form, as all five players scored in double digits. Murray made his biggest impact on the defensive end though, and encouraging sign after he averaged 1.0 steals and 0.8 blocks over 77 regular-season games in 2023-24. The third-year forward may have more to offer in those categories this season, especially with DeRozan on board to handle more of the offensive load.
Oct 3, 2024
Team option picked up
The Kings exercised Murray's team option for the 2025-26 season Thursday,Brenden Nunes of KHTK Sactown Sports 1140 reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray is now set to remain in Sacramento for at least the first four seasons of his career. In 2023-24, the 24-year-old forward averaged 15.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.0 steals in 33.6 minutes across 77 appearances, all of which were starts. Murray is set to start at power forward for the Kings once again this season.
Apr 20, 2024
Poor shooting display Friday
Murray closed with 11 points (4-12 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 1-2 FT), seven rebounds, three assists, one block and one steal in 38 minutes during Friday's 105-98 Play-In Game loss to New Orleans.
ANALYSIS
Murray had to leave the game in the second quarter due to a hip problem, and even though he returned in the second half, he didn't look at his best -- and he was certainly not as good as he was against the Warriors in the previous round of the Play-In Tournament. Murray has scored 15 points or more in five of his last seven appearances and will be asked to play a prominent role on offense in the first-round series against the Thunder.
Apr 19, 2024
Cleared to return
Murray (hip) has returned to Friday's Play-In Game against New Orleans, Anthony Slater of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray went to the locker room at the end of the first half with left hip soreness, but he's been cleared to return for the final two quarters of play. He'll be asked to play a big role down the stretch with the Kings facing a nine-point deficit.
Apr 19, 2024
Heads to locker room
Murray went to the locker room with an undisclosed injury during the second quarter of Friday's Play-In Game against the Pelicans, Will Guillory of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray appeared to slip on a wet spot on the court, and he was reportedly favoring his hip on the way to the locker room, per Sean Cunningham of Fox 40 Sacramento. Trey Lyles and Colby Jones would likely be asked to step up if Murray can't return.
Apr 17, 2024
Leads all scorers in win
Murray ended with 32 points (10-20 FG, 8-13 3Pt, 4-4 FT), nine rebounds and two steals over 39 minutes during Tuesday's 118-94 Play-In Game win over the Warriors.
ANALYSIS
Murray torched the Warriors to the tune of 32 points, including eight three-pointers. The Kings led from start to finish, sending Golden State home in emphatic fashion. They will now head to New Orleans where the Pelicans await, with both teams trying to secure the eighth and final playoff spot.
Apr 13, 2024
Drills five threes again in loss
Murray contributed 23 points (9-19 FG, 5-12 3Pt), seven rebounds and three steals across 43 minutes during Friday's 108-107 loss to Phoenix.
ANALYSIS
Murray was efficient from downtown for a second consecutive game and broke the 20-point barrier for the first time in seven games. The second-year Iowa product has improved in almost every major category as a starter in the 2023-24 campaign, averaging 15.3 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists over 76 games.
Apr 11, 2024
Available for Thursday's matchup
Murray (calf) is available for Thursday's game against New Orleans.
ANALYSIS
Murray was a full participant in Thursday's shootaround and will officially be available once again despite his lingering calf soreness. However, the Kings are playing the first half of a back-to-back set Thursday, so the team could monitor the forward's playing time against the Pelicans.
Apr 11, 2024
Full participant in shootaround
Murray (calf), who is questionable for Thursday's game against the Pelicans, was a full participant in the Kings' morning shootaround, Brenden Nunes of KHTK Sactown Sports 1140 reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray was able to suit up for Tuesday's matchup against the Thunder despite his calf injury, and his participation in Thursday's shootaround is encouraging for his status against New Orleans. If he's available, it's unclear whether his playing time will be monitored since Thursday's game is the first half of a back-to-back set.
Apr 10, 2024
Snares questionable designation
Murray (left calf soreness) is questionable for Thursday's game against the Pelicans.
ANALYSIS
Murray will be tabbed questionable for a second consecutive contest due to a left calf issue. He played through the injury Tuesday, generating 15 points and 10 rebounds across 38 minutes but the Kings could be more inclined to rest Murray with Thursday's game being the first of a back-to-back. If he were to miss, Trey Lyles, Sasha Vezenkov and Kessler Edwards would likely benefit.
Apr 10, 2024
Double-doubles in loss
Murray closed with 15 points (5-16 FG, 3-10 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 10 rebounds and two assists in 38 minutes during Tuesday's 112-105 loss to the Thunder.
ANALYSIS
Murray was on the injury report leading up to Tuesday with left calf soreness, but it was likely a minor issue. This was the eighth double-double of the season for Murray, and his second in his past three games.
Apr 9, 2024
Good to go Tuesday
Murray (calf) does not carry an injury designation in advance of Tuesday's game against Oklahoma City.
ANALYSIS
Murray's presence on Monday's injury report can likely be attributed to routine maintenance. The second-year forward is averaging 18.2 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.6 blocks while launching 16.6 shots per game over his last five contests.
Apr 8, 2024
Joins injury report
Murray is questionable for Tuesday's game against Oklahoma City due to left calf soreness.
ANALYSIS
Murray launched 18 shots in Sunday's blowout victory over Brooklyn with no in-game injury being reported, but his status is nonetheless uncertain for Tuesday's contest. Sacramento currently holds the eighth seed in the Western Conference, but the team can still ascend to fifth or drop to the 10th seed in the final week of the season.
Apr 5, 2024
Scores 18 points in loss to NYK
Murray notched 18 points (7-14 FG, 4-10 3Pt), two rebounds and one block in 32 minutes during Thursday's 120-109 loss to the Knicks.
ANALYSIS
Perhaps surprisingly, Murray finished this game as the Kings' second overall scorer, even ahead of Domantas Sabonis and only trailing De'Aaron Fox. Murray has now cleared the 15-point mark in seven of his last eight appearances, and the second-year forward is embracing more touches -- and a bigger role -- on offense since the team has had to adjust to the absence of Malik Monk (knee).
Apr 3, 2024
Posts 19 points in win
Murray contributed 19 points (8-18 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 1-1 FT), five rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal across 38 minutes during Tuesday's 109-95 victory over the Clippers.
ANALYSIS
Murray is popping at the right time, as the Kings have suffered numerous key injuries down the stretch. Murray should approach 40 minutes nightly aa the Kings make a final playoff push, so the second-year pro will be given every opportunity to succeed. He's averaged 19.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.2 assists over the past five games.
Apr 1, 2024
Steps up with 25 points
Murray registered 25 points (10-18 FG, 5-12 3Pt), four rebounds, three assists and one block in 35 minutes during Sunday's 127-106 victory over the Jazz.
ANALYSIS
It's all hands on deck for the Kings as they added Malik Monk (knee) to the injury report, joining Kevin Huerter (shoulder) as inactive for the foreseeable future. After a scoring slump that lingered into March, Murray has started to come alive again, and it couldn't come at a better time. The Kings are in a battle to the finish as they try to stay in the best possible play-in position in the West.
Mar 26, 2024
Logs another 20-point game
Murray supplied 23 points (9-20 FG, 3-11 3Pt, 2-3 FT), three rebounds, four assists, one block and one steal across 38 minutes during Monday's 108-96 win over Philadelphia.
ANALYSIS
Murray suffered through a 10-game streak where he failed to exceed 20 points, but he kept the production going after breaking the slump Saturday night against Orlando. Although his numbers since the All-Star break have been less than ideal, the Iowa product can pop with a decent number occasionally. The Kings' stock has dropped due to a lack of support for Domantas Sabonis and De'Aaron Fox in recent weeks, but Murray's solid effort was an encouraging sign of progress.
Mar 24, 2024
Pops for 22 points in win
Murray ended with 22 points (8-12 FG, 6-7 3Pt), seven rebounds, two assists and two blocks over 38 minutes during Saturday's 109-107 win over Orlando.
ANALYSIS
Murray found some rhythm on the offensive end, scoring at least 20 points for the first time in almost a month. It was a welcome sight for fantasy managers, especially those who have been holding him through his recent struggles. He should continue to play heavy minutes, providing him an opportunity to build on this performance.
Mar 14, 2024
Double-double in win
Murray produced 19 points (7-13 FG, 5-10 3Pt), 11 rebounds, three assists and two steals in 39 minutes during Wednesday's 120-107 victory over the Lakers.
ANALYSIS
Murray continues to rain in threes while playing at home, with his three-point efficiency rising to 42.5 percent on 6.5 triples per game when the Kings are in Sacramento. Wednesday represented his fifth double-double of the season and his first since Feb. 11.
Mar 13, 2024
Cleared to face Lakers
Murray (ankle) will play in Wednesday's game against the Lakers, Sean Cunningham of Fox 40 Sacramento reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray missed his first game since November on Tuesday due to a sprained left ankle. However, he's received the green light ahead of Wednesday's closing end of the back-to-back. Murray should reclaim his starting spot alongside Domantas Sabonis in the frontcourt.
Mar 13, 2024
Questionable for Wednesday
Murray (ankle) is listed as questionable for Wednesday's game versus the Lakers.
ANALYSIS
Murray is in danger of missing his second straight contest due to a left ankle sprain. Kevin Huerter (leg) is also questionable, so Keon Ellis, Chris Duarte and Davion Mitchell would be candidates for increased playing time if the Kings are shorthanded.
Mar 12, 2024
Ruled out Tuesday
Murray (ankle) won't play in Tuesday's game versus the Bucks, Frankie Cartoscelli of KHTK Sactown Sports 1140 reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray has been downgraded from questionable to out Tuesday due to a left ankle sprain. Trey Lyles, Kessler Edwards and Chris Duarte are candidates to receive increased minutes in his absence. Murray's next chance to suit up is Wednesday's matchup with the Lakers.
Mar 12, 2024
Active at shootaround
Murray (ankle) is listed as questionable for Tuesday's game against the Bucks, but he was active during the team's morning shootaround, Brenden Nunes of KHTK Sactown Sports 1140 reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray has appeared in 46 straight games and appears on track to continue that streak Tuesday night, though his official availability will likely come down to a game-time decision. Given Tuesday's matchup is the front end of a back-to-back set, the Kings may proceed with caution.
Mar 11, 2024
Added to injury report
Murray is questionable for Tuesday's game against Milwaukee due to a left ankle sprain.
ANALYSIS
Murray is at risk of snapping a streak of 46 consecutive starts, and his status will need to be monitored with Sacramento commencing a back-to-back set Tuesday and Wednesday. Harrison Barnes logged just 21 minutes in Sunday's loss to Houston, but he and Trey Lyles would see enlarged workloads if Murray can't suit up Tuesday.
Mar 11, 2024
Fully participates in practice
Murray twisted his left ankle during Sunday's loss to the Rockets, but he was a full participant during Monday's practice, Sean Cunningham of Fox 40 Sacramento reports.
ANALYSIS
It's been a rough start to March for the second-year forward, who's averaged just 10.2 points on 37.0 percent shooting over his last five appearances. Murray has missed only four games this season and has made 46 straight appearances. That streak will likely continue Tuesday versus Milwaukee, but the Kings have yet to release their official injury report for that contest.
Mar 5, 2024
Good all-around effort in loss
Murray closed Monday's 113-109 loss to Chicago with 11 points (3-8 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 4-4 FT), six rebounds, four assists, three blocks and one steal in 39 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Murray contributed in every major category during the defeat and matched a season high with three blocked shots. Murray will still occasionally disappoint with low shot volume, but he's averaging 33 minutes per game as a starter and is almost always in the running to finish as the Kings' third-best scoring option.
Feb 29, 2024
Fades following hot start
Murray had 21 points (9-17 FG, 3-7 3Pt), four rebounds, one block and one steal across 33 minutes during Wednesday's 117-96 loss to the Nuggets.
ANALYSIS
Murray burst out of the gates with 11 first-quarter points but was held to just four points over the ensuing two periods. He added six points in garbage time to finish with a team-high 21. Murray had a more prominent role on offense Wednesday with De'Aaron Fox (knee) out of action, and he's likely to continue to get more usage if Fox misses additional time. Even when Fox is healthy, Murray has done enough to establish himself as a useful fantasy asset this season, averaging 15.1 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 2.3 three-pointers and 1.1 steals through 54 games.
Feb 27, 2024
Wakes up with 28 points
Murray posted 28 points (10-14 FG, 6-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds, one assist, one block and three steals across 36 minutes during Monday's 121-110 loss to the Heat.
ANALYSIS
Murray drained six three-points during one of his best performances of 2024. Murray has a knack for displaying his incredible upside but he's struggled to hit double-digit scoring eight times since the beginning of the year. The All-Star break seemed to have a positive effect on his numbers, averaging 18.3 points. 5.7 rebounds and 1.3 steals over the last three games.
Feb 15, 2024
Posts six in win
Murray put up six points (2-8 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds, an assist and a block over 35 minutes in Wednesday's 102-98 victory over the Nuggets.
ANALYSIS
Murray has been ice cold from three recently, averaging a meager 17.6 percent from beyond the arc in his last eight games. Sacramento has had no hesitation pulling some minutes from him in favor of players like Trey Lyles if he performs poorly, and this may be the case if he continues to do so after the All-Star break.
Feb 8, 2024
Scoreless in loss
Murray notched zero points (0-4 FG, 0-3 3Pt), four rebounds, four assists, one block and one steal over 20 minutes during Wednesday's 133-120 loss to the Pistons.
ANALYSIS
Murray's terrible February continued Wednesday, and he quickly gave way to Trey Lyles after failing to make an impact. Murray's recent inability to sustain consistent totals is worthy of concern, and his sharp decrease in shot volume appears to be the primary culprit. A dip in scoring is understandable after logging his third-lowest minute total of the season, but it's a noticeable trend that's persisted throughout the month.
Feb 3, 2024
Rough night Friday
Murray totaled five points (2-7 FG, 1-6 3Pt), one rebound and one assist over 28 minutes during Friday's 133-122 victory over the Pacers.
ANALYSIS
Murray managed just five points in 28 minutes, producing arguably his worst performance of the season. Coming off a 33-point effort against the Heat, Murray has bookended that performance with two rough shooting nights. He remains a clear must-roster player but managers need to be prepared for ups and downs, especially with Murray relying heavily on points and threes to sustain value.
Feb 1, 2024
Erupts for 33 in Wednesday's loss
Murray supplied 33 points (12-18 FG, 7-11 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds, two assists, two blocks and one steal in 38 minutes during Wednesday's 115-106 loss to the Heat.
ANALYSIS
After failing to produce more than 15 points in any of the prior four games, Murray broke out with his best scoring effort since he poured in 47 points against the Jazz on Dec. 16. The second-year forward averaged 17.7 points, 5.8 boards, 2.4 threes, 1.6 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.0 blocks through 15 games in January while shooting 51.2 percent from the floor, and he's establishing himself as one of the Kings' foundational pieces alongside De'Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis.
Jan 28, 2024
Still battling cold spell
Murray chipped in 15 points (5-13 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 4-6 FT), four rebounds, two assists and three blocks across 40 minutes during Saturday's 120-115 win over the Mavericks.
ANALYSIS
Murray is slumping from beyond the arc, posting 6-for-25 shooting across his last four games. The 23-year-old compensated by contributing defensively and finding points elsewhere, but he has posted just seven games with at least four free-throw attempts this season. He continues to possess a gigantic workload and can be considered a bounce-back candidate moving forward.
Jan 19, 2024
Tallies 27 points in defeat
Murray ended Thursday's 126-121 loss to the Pacers with 27 points (11-18 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 4-5 FT), nine rebounds, one block and two steals over 38 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Murray couldn't keep up his recent pace from three-point range (he was averaging 2.8 triples on 46.7 percent shooting over his previous five games heading into Thursday), but that didn't stop him from putting up a big offensive performance. The second-year forward finished second on Sacramento in scoring in the loss, and he chipped in nine boards to fall just shy of a double-double. Murray is prone to the occasional dud on offense, but he's also capable of putting up explosive performances, as he's recorded 25-plus points on seven occasions during the campaign and is shooting a collective 64.6 percent from the field in those outings.
Jan 16, 2024
Will play Tuesday
Murray (hip) will play in Tuesday's game against the Suns.
ANALYSIS
Murray was carrying a questionable tag prior to this update after suffering a right hip issue during Sunday's game versus Milwaukee. He made it through Tuesday's warmups without any setbacks and there's no word of any restrictions ahead of tipoff.
Jan 15, 2024
Questionable for Tuesday
Murray (hip) is questionable to play Tuesday against Phoenix.
ANALYSIS
Murray is dealing with right hip irritation. He exited early and was unable to return in Sunday's loss to Milwaukee, making his status murky for Tuesday. Trey Lyles logged 33 minutes in Sunday's contest and likely profiles as the primary fill-in if Murray can't suit up.
Jan 14, 2024
Ruled out for game
Murray won't return to Sunday's game against the Bucks due to right hip irritation, James Ham of ESPN 1320 Sacramento reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray had an inefficient first half, totaling four points (2-9 FG, 0-2 3Pt), a rebound and a block in 19 minutes. The Kings ruled him out for the remainder of the matchup at halftime, so Trey Lyles could see increased playing time during the second half. Whether Murray will be available Tuesday against the Suns remains to be seen.
Jan 11, 2024
Goes for 25 points Wednesday
Murray notched 25 points (11-18 FG, 3-7 3Pt), six rebounds, three assists and one block over 32 minutes during Wednesday's 123-98 victory over Charlotte.
ANALYSIS
Murray has started the new year on an absolute tear, and while his eight-point outing against the Pelicans on Jan. 7 was a subpar outing, he's been very good overall. Through six January appearances, Murray has reached the 20-point mark three times, reaching double-doubles twice and averaging 20.2 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.2 steals per contest.
Jan 9, 2024
Hits five three's versus Detroit
Murray recorded 32 points (13-17 FG, 5-9 3Pt, 1-1 FT), five rebounds, two assists, two blocks and one steal across 35 minutes during Tuesday's 131-110 victory over the Pistons.
ANALYSIS
Murray shot 76.5 percent from the field in Tuesday's win. He's scored in double-digits in four of his last five games since the New Year. Over that span, Murray is averaging 19.2 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.4 steals over 35.7 minutes per game.
Jan 6, 2024
Double-double in win
Murray posted 18 points (6-11 FG, 4-4 3Pt, 2-4 FT), 12 rebounds, one assist and one steal across 35 minutes during Friday's 135-130 win over the Raptors.
ANALYSIS
Murray registered his second straight double-double in Friday's win and the seventh of his two-year NBA career. He doesn't contribute much outside of scoring, rebounding and steals, but he's provided a steady presence for the Kings alongside stars De'Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis. Murray is averaging 15.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.2 steals over 33.1 minutes per game over his last 10 appearances.
Jan 4, 2024
Leads starters in scoring in win
Murray ended with 28 points (13-21 FG, 2-6 3Pt), 12 rebounds, one assist and one steal across 46 minutes during Wednesday's 138-135 double-overtime win over the Magic.
ANALYSIS
Murray led all Kings starters in scoring while surpassing the double-digit rebound mark in a double-double performance. Murray, who played in a team-leading and season-high 46 minutes, has tallied 25 or more points in four games this year. His 28-point total was the second-highest of the season behind only his season high of 47 points which occurred Dec. 16 against Utah.
Jan 3, 2024
Records three steals in loss
Murray closed with 10 points (4-12 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 1-2 FT), three rebounds, two assists and three steals in 37 minutes during Tuesday's 111-104 loss to Charlotte.
ANALYSIS
Murray has improved in every major statistical category since his rookie season, but his efficiency has dropped, as he's shooting just 44.0 percent from the field and 35.6 percent from deep. The Kings have recently moved Kevin Huerter to the bench in favor of Chris Duarte, but Murray's spot remains secure despite a recent cold stretch -- 8.5 points on 31.8 percent from the field over his last four appearances.
Dec 24, 2023
Strong outing in loss
Murray provided 20 points (8-16 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 1-2 FT), seven rebounds, one block and three steals over 40 minutes during Saturday's 110-98 loss to the Timberwolves.
ANALYSIS
Murray's contribution to the Kings has been a recently, as the regression from Kevin Huerter has had a negative effect on the team's production. The Iowa product increased his double-digit scoring streak to 10 games in the loss.
Dec 23, 2023
Scores 21 points Friday
Murray ended with 21 points (8-13 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds and two assists in 33 minutes during Friday's 120-105 win over the Suns.
ANALYSIS
Murray has been on fire in recent weeks, highlighted by his career-best 47-point performance against the Jazz on Dec. 16, and he has scored at least 15 points in six of his last seven contests. Over that seven-game stretch, the second-year forward out of Iowa is averaging 23.1 points and 4.6 rebounds per game while shooting an impressive 57.6 percent from the field.
Dec 19, 2023
Stays hot in win
Murray ended Monday's 143-131 victory over the Wizards with 25 points (9-17 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 3-3 FT), five rebounds, four assists and one steal in 32 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Murray has buried 16 of 22 three-point attempts over his last two games, which have represented his two largest scoring outputs of the season. He's arguably the hottest shooter in basketball, but a tougher task awaits on Wednesday against the Celtics, who limited Murray to just three points when these two teams met last season.
Dec 17, 2023
Scores career-high 47 points
Murray closed with 47 points (16-23 FG, 12-15 3Pt, 3-4 FT), eight rebounds, two assists and two steals in 36 minutes during Saturday's 125-104 win over the Jazz.
ANALYSIS
Murray drilled twelve three-pointers, flirting with Klay Thompson's record of 14 threes in a single game. Murray's place in the starting lineup this season is indicative of the team's investment in the Iowa product, and Saturday's performance was the best glimpse of his potential since joining the Kings. Although Murray's floor is much lower, his shot volume could increase somewhat after this confidence boost.
Dec 13, 2023
Scores team-high 17 points
Murray ended with 17 points (6-14 FG, 0-5 3Pt, 5-6 FT), seven rebounds, one assist and three steals in 31 minutes during Tuesday's 119-99 loss to the Clippers.
ANALYSIS
If the Kings' top scorer only netted 17 points, it's likely a pretty bad night for the Kings, and especially unlikely since it was Murray who turned in the number. The starting lineup sputtered for most of the game, and the Clippers were in command throughout the contest. Murray played quite well during Sacramento's stint in the In-Season Tournament and frequently posts double-digit scoring totals to complement solid games off the glass.
Dec 12, 2023
Efficient in win over Nets
Murray contributed 24 points (9-13 FG, 4-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds and three assists across 34 minutes during Monday's 131-118 win over the Nets.
ANALYSIS
Murray had quite a few ups and downs to start the season, but he seems to be trending in the right direction -- he has scored in double digits in three straight contests, and this 24-point output was his second-best mark of the entire campaign. Despite the uptick in numbers, Murray hasn't been able to improve substantially on his rookie year, but the recent signs suggest he's trending in the right direction.
Dec 7, 2023
Available for Friday
Murray (back) is available for Friday's game against the Suns.
ANALYSIS
Murray was held out of Wednesday's practice, but he did return to full practice Thursday. The Kings completely removed him from the injury report ahead of Friday's game, and there's been no word of any restrictions.
Dec 7, 2023
Practices fully Thursday
Murray was a full participant in Thursday's practice, Deuce Mason of NBC Sports California reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray returned to practice Thursday after missing Wednesday's practice due to lower back soreness. The second-year forward's availability for Friday's matchup with Phoenix is expected to be announced later Thursday.
Dec 6, 2023
Doesn't practice Wednesday
Murray (back) missed Wednesday's practice and is considered day-to-day moving forward, Sean Cunningham of Fox 40 Sacramento reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray has played in Sacramento's last two contests but continues to deal with lower back soreness. The second-year forward's status for Friday's matchup with Phoenix is uncertain. However, the King's injury report should be released Thursday, which will provide clarity on Murray's availability.
Dec 3, 2023
Light role in return
Murray (back) played 23 minutes and finished with eight points (3-10 FG, 2-5 3Pt), five rebounds and one assist in Saturday's 123-117 win over the Nuggets.
ANALYSIS
Making his return from a four-game absence due to joint irritation in his lower back, Murray took back his spot in the starting five, but he wasn't particularly effective during his time on the court and saw his playing time suppressed as a result. Murray may need a few games to shake off the rust, but he should eventually reclaim a steady 30-plus-minute role. However, expect some inconsistency with his production, which has been a familiar refrain through Murray's first two seasons in the league.
Dec 2, 2023
Suiting up against Denver
Murray (back) is available for Saturday's game versus the Nuggets, Sean Cunningham of Fox 40 Sacramento reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray has been upgraded from questionable to available Saturday after missing the previous four games with back soreness. The second-year forward will likely replace Chris Duarte in the starting five against Denver.
Dec 1, 2023
Officially questionable
Murray (back) is officially listed as questionable for Saturday's matchup with the Nuggets, Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray has missed the Kings' four previous games, but it looks like he will have a chance to return Saturday. He logged a full practice Friday, which indicates he is trending in the right direction. Still, more clarity on his status is unlikely to come until closer to game time. Chris Duarte, Sasha Vezenkov and Tre Lyles are all candidates to see increased run should he ultimately sit again.
Dec 1, 2023
Full go at practice
Murray (back) was a full participant during Friday's practice, James Ham of ESPN 1320 Sacramento reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray has missed four straight games due to joint irritation in his lower back, but it appears he'll have a chance to suit up Saturday versus Denver, though his official status for that contest won't be known until Sacramento releases its injury report Friday afternoon. If Murray returns, he may be subject to a minute restriction, but his presence would mean reduced playing time for Chris Duarte, Sasha Vezenkov and Trey Lyles.
Nov 29, 2023
Remains out Wednesday
Murray (back) won't play in Wednesday's game versus the Clippers.
ANALYSIS
Murray's absence streak will extend to four games Wednesday due to joint irritation in his lower back. He will have extra time to recover ahead of Saturday's matchup with Denver.
Nov 28, 2023
Officially out Tuesday
Murray (back) will not play Tuesday against Golden State, Sean Cunningham of Fox 40 Sacramento reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray was initially listed as doubtful Monday and he's missed Sacramento's last two games, so his inactive status Tuesday isn't surprising. Chris Duarte has logged two starts in his absence, while Trey Lyles will also help fill Murray's void in the frontcourt.
Nov 27, 2023
Doubtful for Tuesday
Murray (back) is listed as doubtful to play Tuesday against Golden State.
ANALYSIS
Murray is dealing with irritation to the sacroiliac joint in his lower back. Despite fully practicing Monday, Sacramento appears to be erring on the side of caution with Murray's back. If he misses his third consecutive game Tuesday, Trey Lyles will likely absorb the majority of his usage. Kessler Edwards could see increased run as well, although he and Sasha Vezenkov have been inconsistently incorporated of late.
Nov 27, 2023
Fully participates in practice
Murray (back) was a full participant in Monday's practice session, Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray has missed the last two games due to lower back soreness, but his return to practice Monday suggests that he's close to being cleared for game action. The Kings haven't yet revealed his status for Tuesday's matchup against the Warriors, but it certainly seems possible that his two-game absence will come to an end.
Nov 23, 2023
Ruled out Friday
Murray (back) has been ruled out for Friday's matchup against the Timberwolves, Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray will miss a second consecutive game due to the injury, and the Kings are going to be cautious with their starting power forward. Sasha Vezenkov and Trey Lyles are candidates to absorb some of Murray's minutes, and his next chance to play will come next Tuesday against the Warriors.
Nov 22, 2023
Downgraded to out
Murray (back) has been ruled out for Wednesday's matchup against the Pelicans.
ANALYSIS
As expected, Murray will miss his first game of the season due to a back injury he picked up during Monday's loss to New Orleans. Chris Duarte (thumb) has been cleared to suit up, so he'll presumably take Murray's spot in the starting lineup. Sasha Vezenkox (thumb) and Trey Lyles are also candidates to absorb some of Murray's missing minutes.
Nov 22, 2023
Not spotted at shootaround
Murray (back), who's listed as questionable, wasn't spotted during the Kings' morning shootaround ahead of Wednesday's matchup in New Orleans, Chris Biderman of The Sacramento Bee reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray exited Monday's blowout loss to the Pelicans due to lower back soreness and is trending in the wrong direction ahead of Wednesday's matchup. Chris Duarte (thumb), Sasha Vezenkov (thumb) and Trey Lyles (calf) are also listed as questionable, but they participated in the team's shootaround and are expected to play in the rematch versus New Orleans.
Nov 21, 2023
Questionable for Wednesday
Murray (back) is questionable to play Wednesday against New Orleans.
ANALYSIS
Murray is dealing with lower back soreness. He exited Monday's contest against the Pelicans and was unable to return for the second half. Kessler Edwards finished the game in his place, so he and Harrison Barnes would likely be tasked with enlarged roles if Murray is unable to suit up Wednesday.
Nov 20, 2023
Shut down with back injury
Murray has been ruled out for the remainder of Monday's game against the Pelicans due to a lower back injury, Deuce Mason of NBC Sports California reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray didn't come out of the locker room to begin the second half, and the team announced shortly after that he'll miss the rest of the contest while tending to a back issue. With Sasha Vezenkov (thumb) also out, expect the Kings to count on Kessler Edwards, Harrison Barnes and Colby Jones down the stretch.
Nov 20, 2023
Decent output vs. Dallas
Murray posted 17 points (7-13 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 1-1 FT), three rebounds, four assists and one steal over 33 minutes during Sunday's 129-113 win over the Mavericks.
ANALYSIS
Murray has failed to surpass the 10-point mark in five of his nine outings this month, and his numbers have not been the expected ones following a solid rookie season, but he might be trending in the right direction of late. Murray has scored at least 17 points in three of his last five outings and is averaging 16.2 points while shooting 48.4 percent from the field in that span. Maintaining those numbers through a prolonged stretch is the challenge for the second-year forward, however.
Nov 14, 2023
Excels from deep with 25 points
Murray supplied 25 points (9-13 FG, 5-8 3Pt, 2-2 FT), eight rebounds, one assist and one steal in 38 minutes during Monday's 132-120 win over the Cavaliers.
ANALYSIS
Murray drilled a season-high five three-pointers against the Cavaliers. He's only shooting 39.1 percent from the field over nine games, but Murray should occasionally show up with a hot hand. His shot volume has definitely gone up from his rookie season.
Nov 11, 2023
Logs first double-double of season
Murray posted 24 points (8-17 FG, 3-10 3Pt, 5-5 FT), 11 rebounds, three steals, a blocked shot and an assist across 40 minutes during Friday's 105-98 win over the Thunder.
ANALYSIS
The Kings desperately need role players like Murray and Kevin Huerter to succeed, and they both logged their best numbers of the season Friday night. If they can keep producing when De'Aaron Fox returns, the Kings will make some noise in the Play-In Tournament.
Nov 7, 2023
Scores 12 points in loss to HOU
Murray ended Monday's 122-97 loss to Houston with 12 points (5-11 FG, 2-6 3Pt), five rebounds, one assist and one steal across 28 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Murray struggled once again and failed to provide the Kings with a scoring punch in the absence of De'Aaron Fox (ankle), though at least he cleared the 10-point mark after not doing so in his previous two outings. The second-year forward is struggling after an impressive rookie year, and he's averaging just 12.8 points per game while shooting a meager 35.8 percent form the floor. Perhaps even more worrisome is that he's been downright poor when the Kings have needed him to step his game up.
Nov 4, 2023
Struggles massively in loss
Murray finished with seven points (3-12 FG, 1-8 3Pt), two rebounds and one assist over 33 minutes during Saturday's 107-89 loss to the Rockets.
ANALYSIS
Murray had a golden chance to be the Kings' go-to scorer in a game where De'Aaron Fox (ankle) was absent and Domantas Sabonis struggled, but he struggled badly and delivered another uninspiring performance. Murray posted a single-digit scoring performance for the first time in 2023-24 and will aim to bounce back Monday in a rematch against the Rockets.
Oct 30, 2023
Delivers solid game
Murray produced 17 points (6-14 FG, 3-9 3Pt, 2-3 FT), eight rebounds, five assists, one block and two steals across 33 minutes during Sunday's 132-127 overtime win over the Lakers.
ANALYSIS
Although his shot was a bit erratic, Murray was an excellent source of defensive production and was a great complement to Domantas Sabonis in the frontcourt. His stat lines have been very consistent to begin the season, cementing his foothold on a spot in the starting lineup.
Oct 28, 2023
Tallies 16 points in loss
Murray racked up 16 points (6-16 FG, 3-11 3Pt, 1-2 FT), seven rebounds, one assist, one block and two steals across 40 minutes during Friday's 122-114 loss to the Warriors.
ANALYSIS
Murray finished third on Sacramento in scoring in the defeat, though he struggled with a 3-for-11 mark from behind the arc and four turnovers. The Iowa product did make up for those poor marks to some extent with his seven boards and two steals, with three of his rebounds coming on the offensive glass. Murray figures to be the third or fourth offensive option for Sacramento in most games, but he's locked into a starting role and should get plenty of opportunity to build upon last year's strong rookie campaign.
Oct 24, 2023
Off injury report
Murray (illness) has been removed from the injury report ahead of Wednesday's game against the Jazz.
ANALYSIS
Murray's illness sidelined him for a preseason game on Oct. 19, but his status for Opening Night wasn't in any real doubt. Murray has high expectations in 2023-24 and looked sharp in the preseason, averaging 14.7 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.3 three-pointers in 24.4 minutes.
Oct 21, 2023
Sticking with Sacramento
The Kings have elected to exercise Murray's (illness) third-year team option for the 2024-25 season, Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray will stick with the Kings at least through the conclusion of the 2024-25 campaign following Saturday's transaction. The Iowa product showed a lot of promise during his rookie season, putting up 12.2 points on 45.3 percent from the field to go along with 4.6 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 29.8 minutes per game (80 contests).
Oct 19, 2023
Out with illness
Murray (illness) will not play in Thursday's preseason game against the Jazz.
ANALYSIS
The Kings are sitting several starters for rest, but Murray has a legitimate illness. Hopefully he'll be recovered in time for Opening Night on Oct. 25 against Utah.
Oct 19, 2023
Logs 24 points in loss
Murray posted 24 points (10-18 FG, 3-9 3Pt, 1-1 FT), eight rebounds, two assists and two steals across 35 minutes in Wednesday's 116-115 loss to the Warriors.
ANALYSIS
Murray started right away in his rookie season, and the Iowa product is poised to have a breakout campaign in his second year with the Kings. Murray averaged 12.2 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.2 assists last season, and his role in Wednesday's game is a sign that these numbers will rise significantly, especially if his three-point volume stays high.
Oct 15, 2023
Not listed on injury report
Murray (thumb) isn't listed on the Kings' injury report for Sunday's preseason matchup against the Warriors.
ANALYSIS
Murray missed Wednesday's exhibition with a sore right thumb, but it looks like he'll return to his usual starting role Sunday. The Iowa product was solid as a rookie, averaging 12.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.3 steals-plus-blocks in 29.8 minutes, but the Kings are hoping he can take a big step forward in Year 2.
Oct 13, 2023
Back at practice
Murray (thumb) returned to practice Friday, Deuce Mason of NBC Sports California reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray was sidelined for Wednesday's preseason game due to a sore right thumb, but it appears the issue was minor. While his return to practice is a good sign, Murray's status for Sunday's exhibition versus Golden State remains to be determined.
Oct 11, 2023
Won't play against Lakers
Murray won't suit up for Wednesday's game against the Lakers due to right thumb soreness, James Ham of ESPN 1320 Sacramento reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray logged 11 points across 16 minutes during the Kings preseason opener, but he'll be relegated to the sidelines Wednesday after picking up a thumb injury. His next chance to play will come Sunday against Golden State
Jul 6, 2023
Pours in 41 points
Murray logged 41 points (11-20 FG, 6-11 3PT, 13-15 FT), five rebounds, one assist, one steal and four blocks in 31 minutes of Wednesday's 95-83 Summer League win over Miami.
ANALYSIS
Murray once again was the best player on the floor Wednesday, following up a 29-point outing in Sacramento's Summer League opener with a 41-point outburst. After two outstanding showings in the California Classic, the Kings could opt to preserve Murray's health for the regular season and prevent him from playing in the NBA 2K24 Summer League in Las Vegas. However, if Murray continues to play, he will likely be one of the league's top performers over the next two weeks.
Jul 4, 2023
Dominates in Summer League opener
Murray posted 29 points (8-17 FG, 3-9 3Pt, 10-11 FT), one rebound and two steals in 31 minutes during Monday's 100-94 Summer League win over Golden State.
ANALYSIS
Just a few months ago, Murray was playing major minutes in Sacramento's playoff series against Golden State, so it's not surprising to see him dominate the lesser competition during Summer League. The 2022 lottery pick started 78 of his 80 regular-season appearances as a rookie last year and averaged 12.2 points (45/41/76 shooting splits), 4.6 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.3 steals-plus-blocks in 29.8 minutes per game. He struggled to make an impact in his first three postseason games, but he averaged 14.5 points and 8.0 rebounds in 35.3 minutes per game over the final four matchups. Murray figures to be a key piece for Sacramento for years to come, but he may be pushed for playing time by reigning EuroLeague MVP Sasha Vezenkov, who signed a three-year deal with the Kings this offseason.
Apr 29, 2023
Double-doubles in win
Murray registered 15 points (5-17 FG, 4-13 3Pt, 1-2 FT), 12 rebounds, two assists and one block across 45 minutes during Friday's 118-99 victory over the Warriors in Game 6 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals.
ANALYSIS
Murray didn't have a good shooting performance and ended with more field goal attempts (17) than points scored (15), but the rookie still salvaged his fantasy line by posting a double-double, his first of the series. He has also scored in double digits in three outings in a row.
Apr 24, 2023
Finally finds form
Murray ended with 23 points (9-13 FG, 5-7 3Pt), seven rebounds and one assist over 33 minutes during Sunday's 126-125 loss to the Warriors in Game 4 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals.
ANALYSIS
Murray had his best game of the playoffs, dropping in 23 points including 5-of-7 from the perimeter. Sadly, he was unable to round out his evening with any peripheral production of note, something that's been an ongoing issue for the rookie. With the series now tied at 2-2, the Kings will return home for a critical Game 5.
Apr 21, 2023
Struggles continue Thursday
Murray posted six points (2-7 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 1-2 FT), five rebounds, one block and one steal across 22 minutes during Thursday's 114-97 loss to the Warriors in Game 3 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals.
ANALYSIS
Murray continues to play poorly for the Kings, ending with just six points in 22 minutes. After an encouraging end to the regular season, the rookie has been a no-show across all three playoff appearances. Despite leading the series 2-1, the Kings would love to see Murray turn things around, providing them with a viable offensive option as opposed to a dud.
Apr 7, 2023
Good to go
Murray (foot) will play in Friday's game against the Warriors, John Dickinson of 95.7 The Game San Francisco reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray was questionable due to a sore foot, but that does not look to be serious. With several other starters sidelined, the rookie will have a rare opportunity to be more of a focus in the Kings' offense.
Apr 6, 2023
Questionable Friday
Murray is questionable for Friday's game against the Warriors due to right foot soreness.
ANALYSIS
Murray has only missed two games this season, but it appears there's a chance that number will hit three Friday. If he's not able to give it a go, Trey Lyles could get a spot start and there would be more minutes available for Kessler Edwards. Check back for another update on Murray closer to Friday's tip.
Apr 3, 2023
Puts up 18 points in OT loss
Murray amassed 18 points (7-10 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, one assist and one steal across 35 minutes during Sunday's 142-134 overtime loss to the Spurs.
ANALYSIS
Murray has had a fair share of ups and downs in his first year in the league, but he seems to be finding consistency right when the Kings will need him the most. He's scored in double digits in all but one of his last 10 outings, averaging 15.6 points and 4.4 rebounds per game in that span.
Apr 1, 2023
Strong outing in win
Murray provided 20 points (8-14 FG, 4-7 3Pt), three rebounds, three assists, three blocks and one steal across 27 minutes during Friday's 138-114 win over Portland.
ANALYSIS
Murray notched his third outing of March with at least 20 points and set a new career high with three blocks. The rookie has been prone to inconsistent play to start his NBA career, as evident by his three-point performance (1-8 FG) two games prior, but he's certainly capable of solid production when he's at his best. Over his last 10 appearances, Murray has averaged 14.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.4 steals-plus-blocks with 47/43/37 shooting splits.
Mar 28, 2023
Falls flat in loss
Murray closed with three points (1-8 FG, 1-6 3Pt), six rebounds and one steal over 28 minutes during Monday's 119-115 loss to Minnesota.
ANALYSIS
Coming into the contest, Murray had averaged 18.2 points on 50.7 percent shooting over his previous five games, but the rookie has certainly been susceptible to disappointing shooting nights to start his career. However, his overall averages are still solid, so as for now, he appears to be more trustworthy in season-long leagues as opposed to daily fantasy.
Mar 21, 2023
Goes for 22 points in loss
Murray closed Monday's 128-120 loss to the Jazz with 22 points (8-16 FG, 6-14 3Pt), six rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal across 32 minutes.
ANALYSIS
The ups and downs are quite common in rookies, and Murray has had a fair share of those over the last few weeks. He has six double-digit scoring performances this month and four in which he didn't even reach the 10-point mark, including two games in which he went scoreless. That said, Murray is firmly entrenched as the Kings' starting power forward and should continue to see steady first-unit minutes even if he struggles form time to time. He's averaging 10.6 points per game in March.
Mar 19, 2023
Bounces back against Wizards
Murray closed Saturday's 132-118 victory over the Wizards with 19 points (7-15 FG, 5-10 3Pt, 0-2 FT), five rebounds, two assists, one block and two steals over 35 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Murray scored in double digits for the second game in a row and surpassed the 15-point plateau for the first time since Feb. 26. The rookie is fully entrenched as a starter for the Kings, but his performances remain inconsistent. He's averaging 9.3 points per game while shooting 40.3 percent from the field across nine March outings.
Mar 14, 2023
Struggles from field Monday
Murray racked up seven points (2-7 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT) and two rebounds over 22 minutes during Monday's 133-124 loss to the Bucks.
ANALYSIS
Murray's role in the starting lineup is safe, but there's no question he needs to start producing better. He's now scored in single digits in three of his last five games and is averaging a meager 10.3 points per game since the All-Star break.
Mar 12, 2023
Disappears in win
Murray contributed zero points (0-3 FG, 0-3 3Pt), one assist and one block in 15 minutes during Saturday's 128-119 victory over Phoenix.
ANALYSIS
Despite starting Saturday's game, Murray failed to do anything substantial and ended up with nothing to show for his 15 minutes of court time. Saturday marked the second time in a week that Murray failed to score, and while there have been so impressive totals in the interim , his variance makes him a risky fantasy option.
Mar 1, 2023
Sneaky double-double Tuesday
Murray notched 13 points (5-10 FG, 3-7 3Pt), 10 rebounds, four assists and one steal across 36 minutes during Tuesday's 123-117 victory over the Thunder.
ANALYSIS
Murray continues to play his best basketball of the season, scoring double-digits for the fourth straight game, chipping in what was the fourth double-double of his young career. It appears as though the game is starting to slow down for him, allowing him to play more within his comfort zone. While he remains outside the top 100 for the season, he has been able to put up top-30 value over the past week. He won't be this good every night but based on his current trajectory, he should be added in all formats.
Feb 15, 2023
Woeful again in loss
Murray had six points (2-7 FG, 2-6 3Pt), five rebounds, six assists and one block over 20 minutes during Tuesday's 120-109 loss to the Suns.
ANALYSIS
Murray played just 21 minutes in the loss, struggling to have any sort of impact on the game. Coming into the season as a prized rookie piece, it's basically been one disappointment after another. He is barely a top-120 for the season, although savvy managers will know that rankings don't always tell the whole story. His overall value is reliant on his ability to score from the perimeter and not turn the ball over, both of which are categories that can be streamed across competitive leagues. At this point, he should be looked at as nothing more than a possible streaming candidate.
Feb 7, 2023
Shines against Houston
Murray finished with 30 points (11-17 FG, 8-12 3Pt), six rebounds, one assist and two steals over 33 minutes during Monday's 140-120 win over the Rockets.
ANALYSIS
The rookie had one of his performances of the season Monday, missing just six of his 17 shots en route to posting one of his best scoring outputs. This was a huge bounce-back performance for the former Iowa standout, who was coming off three straight games in which he couldn't score more than three points while shooting a combined 2-for-21 from the field in that span. Murray has struggled with his consistency levels on a game-to-game basis, but he's still averaging 13.0 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game since the start of the new year.
Feb 3, 2023
Ugly night Friday
Murray registered three points (1-6 FG, 1-4 3Pt), seven rebounds, one assist and one block across 25 minutes during Friday's 107-104 loss to the Pacers.
ANALYSIS
Murray made just one field goal in the loss, ending with three points and very little else. While he has shown significant improvement over the past month, he remains on the fringe when it comes to standard formats. His value is built on efficiently hitting three-pointers, as well as solid rebounding numbers. When his shot isn't falling, his value takes a big hit, making him a hard player to trust, especially in highly-competitive leagues.
Feb 2, 2023
Inefficient against Spurs
Murray provided two points (0-8 FG, 0-6 3Pt, 2-4 FT), seven rebounds and two assists across 27 minutes during Wednesday's 119-109 victory over the Spurs.
ANALYSIS
Murray was a consistent scorer for most of January, but he matched his lowest scoring total of the season Wednesday while failing to convert any of his field-goal attempts. The rookie has had some lackluster performances mixed in with his glimpses of promise to begin the year, but he's maintained plenty of playing time and will have a chance to bounce back during the Kings' packed schedule ahead of the All-Star break.
Jan 31, 2023
Notches third double-double
Murray provided 13 points (5-12 FG, 3-8 3Pt), 13 rebounds, one assist and one steal in 39 minutes in Monday's 118-111 overtime win over the Timberwolves.
ANALYSIS
The double-double was Murray's third of the season, all of which have come within the past two weeks. During his past seven games, Murray is averaging 15.6 points, 8.1 rebounds and 3.4 three-pointers in 36.1 minutes per contest, a level of production that's in line with what fantasy managers might have expected after the rookie enjoyed a brilliant run in the Las Vegas Summer League. However, Murray has offered little in the peripheral categories during that seven-game stretch (1.0 assists, 0.3 blocks and 0.1 steals per contest) and is shooting an unsustainable 55.9 percent from the field, 51.1 percent from three-point range and 100 percent from the free-throw line, so managers should expect a downturn sooner rather than later.
Jan 29, 2023
Rough night Saturday
Murray recorded eight points (3-8 FG, 2-6 3Pt) and four rebounds in 32 minutes during Saturday's 117-110 loss to the Timberwolves.
ANALYSIS
Murray was nowhere to be seen in the loss, highlighting the fact that recent performances can mask a player's true value. Despite being a top 60 player over the past month, Murray offers upside in basically two categories only, those being three-pointers and turnovers. As we saw in this game, when his shot isn't falling, he has very little to fall back on. Of course, he will be better than this on most nights, at least from a scoring standpoint. With that said, he is better looked at as a streaming option, as opposed to a must-roster player, despite what his ranking might say.
Jan 24, 2023
Flirts with double-double
Murray ended with 20 points (7-11 FG, 5-7 3Pt, 1-1 FT), nine rebounds and one block over 34 minutes during Monday's 133-100 victory over the Grizzlies.
ANALYSIS
Murray notched his seventh career game with at least 20 points and fell one rebound shy of his third double-double over his past four appearances. During that stretch, the rookie has averaged 18.0 points and 9.3 rebounds in 37.3 minutes per game, but his shooting percentages (63.2 from the field and 57.7 from deep) suggest his strong production will be difficult to maintain. Nonetheless, the No. 4 overall pick in the 2022 Draft is off to a great start with the Kings and playing a vital role in Sacramento's turnaround this year.
Jan 21, 2023
Career-best performance
Murray closed with 29 points (10-12 FG, 5-7 3Pt, 4-4 FT), 14 rebounds and one assist in 37 minutes during Friday's 118-113 win over the Thunder.
ANALYSIS
The points and boards were both new personal bests, as Murray flashed the upside that made him the fourth overall pick in this year's draft. He's posted back-to-back double-doubles, the first two of his career, and through 10 games in January he's averaging 14.0 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.1 threes and 1.3 assists while shooting 51.6 percent from the floor, 50.8 percent from the beyond the arc and 91.7 percent from the free-throw line -- dazzling efficiency for a rookie.
Jan 19, 2023
Posts first career double-double
Murray finished with 10 points (3-6 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT) and 10 rebounds in 37 minutes during Wednesday's 116-111 win over the Lakers.
ANALYSIS
Murray wasn't very active on offense Wednesday, but he did just enough to hit double-digit scoring for the fifth time in his past six games. The rookie also tied his season high with 10 boards, giving him the first double-double of his NBA career. Though that is certainly a meaningful accomplishment, Murray failed to notch any assists or defensive stats in the win, emphasizing his limited skill set. With per-game averages of 11.7 points, 4.0 boards, 0.9 assists, 2.4 three-pointers, 0.8 steals and 0.6 blocks across 28.8 minutes on the campaign, Murray's value in fantasy is largely dependent on his ability to knock down shots from deep.
Jan 4, 2023
Drills three triples Tuesday
Murray finished with 16 points (6-12 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 1-1 FT), five rebounds, one assist and one block in 37 minutes Tuesday in the Kings' 117-115 win over the Jazz.
ANALYSIS
Though he still isn't living up the big expectations he created during his splashy performance in the Las Vegas Summer League, Murray at least came through with a solid line Tuesday after averaging just 7.2 points on 36.8 percent shooting from the field over his previous five outings. The heavy playing time was a welcome sight after Murray had fallen below the 30-minute mark in each of his last three appearances, but head coach Mike Brown may have just elected to stick with the rookie since he was sporting a hotter hand than normal. At this stage, Murray hasn't produced well enough to be a startable option in most 12-team category and points leagues, but there's some reason to think that his numbers will improve as he becomes more acclimated to the NBA game.
Dec 29, 2022
Emphatically unsatisfying in win
Murray registered five points (2-7 FG, 1-5 3Pt), two rebounds and one assist across 21 minutes during Wednesday's 127-126 win over the Nuggets.
ANALYSIS
Murray struggled again in the win, continuing what has been an underwhelming rookie campaign thus far. Despite being a standout during both Summer League and the preseason, it's been nothing but low points for Murray. He currently sits outside the top 150, providing very little other than some three-point upside. Of course, he will be better than this as we move through his career but for now, he is a tough player to hold outside of deeper formats.
Dec 22, 2022
Posts career-high 23 points
Murray totaled 23 points (7-17 FG, 6-12 3Pt, 3-4 FT), three rebounds, one assist and one steal over 35 minutes during Wednesday's 134-120 victory over the Lakers.
ANALYSIS
Murray rode six three-pointers to the best scoring total of his career. The rookie has been a mainstay in Sacramento's starting five for most of the season, and although he weathered some growing pains along the way, the Iowa product is turning into a solid fantasy contributor. He's now scored 20 or more points in two of his last three games.
Dec 20, 2022
Scores 11 points, adds little else
Murray ended Monday's 125-119 loss to the Hornets with 11 points (4-9 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 0-2 FT), one rebound, one block and one steal across 31 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Murray tied for fourth on Sacramento with 11 points in the loss, with all but two of that total coming from three-point range. However, he missed both of his free-throw attempts and notched only one board along with zero assists, though he did record a steal and a block. Murray has shown done some good things this season with 11.9 points, 4.3 boards and 2.2 three-pointers per game, though he's a fringe top-150 performer due to a 43 percent shooting mark from the field and modest peripheral stats.
Dec 11, 2022
Will play Sunday
Murray (thumb) is available for Sunday's matchup against the Knicks, James Ham of ESPN 1320 Sacramento reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray was listed as questionable due to a thumb injury, but he'll ultimately suit up Sunday. Over his past six appearances (all starts), the rookie first-round pick has averaged 15.3 points and 4.2 rebounds in 26.3 minutes per game.
Dec 10, 2022
Questionable at New York
Murray is questionable for Sunday's game against the Knicks due to left thumb soreness.
ANALYSIS
Murray has turned his play around, and he's scored in double figures in each of the past six games with percentages of 52/49/89. If he sits out Sunday, more minutes could be in store for KZ Okpala, Trey Lyles and Terence Davis (back).
Dec 8, 2022
Strong defensive showing
Murray notched 15 points (6-10 FG, 3-6 3Pt), four rebounds, one assist, two blocks and one steal over 27 minutes during Wednesday's 126-113 loss to Milwaukee.
ANALYSIS
Murray tied for his career-high in blocks Wednesday while also adding a steal. The rookie forward scored the ball efficiently, converting 60 percent of his field goals and 50 percent of his three-pointers.
Dec 5, 2022
Crashes back to earth in win
Murray closed with 11 points (4-7 FG, 3-5 3Pt), four rebounds and one block across 24 minutes during Sunday's 110-101 victory over Chicago.
ANALYSIS
Coming off arguably his best game of the season, Murray was unable to maintain his momentum, reverting back to mediocre production. Despite sticking in the starting lineup, he often sees fewer minutes than the rest of the opening five. Malik Monk has been a revelation off the bench and is typically on the court when the game is on the line. There is obviously an element of upside here but given the Kings are pushing hard on most nights, he is simply not going to be afforded the same opportunities as a number of other promising rookies.
Dec 4, 2022
Scores career-high 23 points
Murray finished Saturday's 123-96 win over the Clippers with 23 points (8-15 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 4-5 FT), seven rebounds, one assist and two steals in 28 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Murray busted out of his slump with an efficient shooting performance, knocking down 53.3 percent of his field goals. He'd averaged 7.3 points and 4.3 rebounds over his last seven contests entering Saturday's clash, so this bounce-back night was an encouraging sign for fantasy managers.
Nov 26, 2022
Slump continues
Murray finished with three points (1-8 FG, 1-6 3Pt), 10 rebounds, one block and one steal in 23 minutes during Friday's 122-104 loss to the Celtics.
ANALYSIS
Murray is now 2-of-21 from beyond the arc across his last five games. The rookie logged double-digit rebounds for the first time in his career, but his cold spell offensively overshadows his supplementary stats. Through 16 contests, Murray is shooting 39.9 percent from the field on 9.6 shots per game.
Nov 20, 2022
Scores 13 points in return
Murray had 13 points (4-10 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 4-5 FT), two rebounds and one assist across 35 minutes during Sunday's 137-129 win over the Pistons.
ANALYSIS
Murray returned to the court after missing Thursday's game with a back issue. The rookie scored in double-digits in each of his first five games but Sunday was just his third time with at least 10 points in his last eight contests. For the year, he's scoring 12.1 points per game while making 44.7 percent of his shot attempts.
Nov 20, 2022
Will play Sunday
Murray (back) is available for Sunday's game against the Pistons, James Ham of ESPN 1320 Sacramento reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray sat out Thursday's game against the Spurs due to a back injury but returned to practice Saturday and, as expected, will be available Sunday. Across 12 appearances (10 starts), the rookie first-round pick has totaled 12.0 points, 3.7 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.0 steals in 30.3 minutes per game.
Nov 19, 2022
Logs full practice Saturday
Murray (back) was able to get through all of Saturday's practice and is likely to play against the Pistons on Sunday, Sean Cunningham of ABC 10 Sacramento reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray sat out Thursday's game against the Spurs due to a back injury but he is on track to return to action on Sunday. His return will likely push Terence Davis back to the bench while also reducing Trey Lyles' workload.
Nov 17, 2022
Officially ruled out
Murray (back) will not play Thursday against the Spurs, Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee reports.
ANALYSIS
As expected, Murray will not take the floor against the spurs due to a back issue he suffered in Tuesday's game. In his stead, Trey Lyles and KZ Okpala are expected to see expanded roles while Murray's next chance to suit up comes Sunday against the Pistons.
Nov 17, 2022
Unlikely to play Thursday
Murray (back) has been downgraded to doubtful for Thursday's game versus the Spurs, James Ham of ESPN 1320 Sacramento reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray suffered a back injury during Tuesday's game versus the Nets. KZ Okpala and Trey Lyles are likely candidates to see increased playing time Thursday. Murray's next opportunity to play will be Sunday's game versus the Pistons if he can't go against San Antonio.
Nov 16, 2022
Questionable for Thursday
Murray (back) is considered questionable for Thursday's game against the Spurs, James Ham of ESPN 1320 Sacramento reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray exited Tuesday's win over the Nets early due to a back issue, so the designation isn't much of a surprise. While the injury isn't considered to be serious, the rookie will have to be reassessed after shootaround before his status is determined ahead of Thursday's contest. If Murray ends up being limited in any way, KZ Okpala could see increased run in the Kings' frontcourt Thursday.
Nov 15, 2022
Won't return Tuesday
Murray (back) won't return to Tuesday's contest against Brooklyn, Sean Cunningham of ABC 10 Sacramento reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray suffered the injury sometime during the first half of Tuesday's matchup. Officially ruled out for the remainder of the game, the rookie will presumably be considered questionable for the team's next game Thursday versus the Spurs.
Nov 15, 2022
Questionable to return Tuesday
Murray is questionable to return to Tuesday's game against Brooklyn due to a back injury, Jared Greenberg of NBA on TNT reports.
ANALYSIS
Although the injury doesn't appear to be serious, the rookie may watch the remainder of the game from the sidelines. Murray posted four points and three rebounds in 12 minutes before exiting with a back injury.
Nov 14, 2022
Back on track Sunday
Murray finished Sunday's 122-115 victory over Golden State with 21 points (8-15 FG, 5-9 3Pt), four rebounds and three steals over 37 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Murray finally found his footing, turning in his best performance in quite some time. While he has been able to play through some personal issues, Murray had been struggling prior to Sunday, with this effort certainly a set in the right direction. As with most rookies, there are going to be plenty of bumps in the road moving forward. With that said, the upside is quite obvious and so he should be able to reward managers who demonstrate patience.
Nov 12, 2022
Vanishes despite win
Murray had two points (1-4 FG, 0-3 3Pt), one rebound, one block and one steal over 26 minutes during Friday's 120-114 victory over the Lakers.
ANALYSIS
Murray's four shot attempts marked a season-low and a quiet stretch of games continues. He'll look to get back on track Sunday against Golden State. It's worth noting that Murray has been dealing with family health issues in recent days.
Nov 8, 2022
Another quiet effort in close loss
Murray racked up six points (2-7 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 1-2 FT), seven rebounds, two assists and two steals in 27 minutes during Monday's 116-113 loss to the Warriors.
ANALYSIS
The rookie got off to a hot start but has now scored in single-digits in three straight games. He's notched at least one steal in all three of those contests, but he's struggling shooting the ball, hitting just 3-of-13 attempts from beyond the arc. Even with the mini-slump, Murray is still shooting 35.3 percent from deep on the year, and he'll continue to hold plenty of fantasy appeal going forward.
Oct 30, 2022
Strong showing offensively
Murray provided 22 points (8-13 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 3-4 FT), one rebound, three assists and two blocks over 36 minutes during Saturday's 119-113 victory over the Heat.
ANALYSIS
Murray has played only four games in The Association, but he already earned a starting role with the Kings and has never scored under 16 points in any of his appearances. The former Iowa standout plays with the poise and maturity of a veteran, and while he's likely to find bumps on the road sooner than later as soon as opposing defenses get a read on what he does offensively, there's no question he's been thriving and should stay as a go-to player for the Kings as long as he remains healthy.
Oct 28, 2022
Drops 18 points in start Thursday
Murray totaled 18 points (7-15 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 1-1 FT) and six rebounds across 39 minutes during Thursday's 125-110 loss to the Grizzlies.
ANALYSIS
Murray moved into the starting lineup, a role that is now his to lose. After a delayed start to the season, he appears to be figuring things out a bit. He led the team with 39 minutes and so it does seem as though he has the trust of the coaching staff. As with most rookies, his production could be a bit up and down but based on what we have seen thus far, he should push to be a solid top-100 player this season.
Oct 26, 2022
Set to start Thursday
Murray will be in the starting lineup for Thursday's game versus the Grizzlies, Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee reports.
ANALYSIS
While Murray has come off the bench in his last two games, it is unlikely he will receive more minutes than he already has. The 2022 No. 4 pick has averaged 17.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.0 blocks in 35.5 minutes over his first two games. Murray's insertion into the starting lineup indicates that the Kings already feel confident in his abilities.
Oct 23, 2022
Coming off bench again Sunday
Murray will come off the bench Sunday against the Warriors, Anthony Slater of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
After missing the opener due to COVID-19 protocols, Murray made his debut Saturday against the Clippers and looked good in 33 minutes. The Iowa product posted 19 points on 7-of-10 shooting (3-6 3Pt) to go with five rebounds, two assists and two blocks. At some point, it's expected that Murray will move into the starting lineup over KZ Okpala, but for the time being he appears to be the Kings' sixth man. Despite starting Saturday's game, Okpala played only 18 minutes.
Oct 23, 2022
Excellent line in debut
Murray amassed 19 points (7-10 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds, two assists and two blocks across 33 minutes during Saturday's 111-109 loss to the Clippers.
ANALYSIS
Murray contributed 33 minutes from the bench and looked free of any injury concerns. The Kings may play it cautiously with Murray, so it'll be crucial to watch for late scratches on back-to-backs. It will be intriguing to see how the lineup changes once Murray is playing full-time. Harrison Barnes could be in for a sharp decrease in playing time if Murray keeps posting decent totals.
Oct 21, 2022
Set for debut Saturday as expected
Murray will make his NBA debut Saturday against the Clippers, James Ham of ESPN 1320 Sacramento reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray was expected to join the action after clearing protocols and practicing the last couple of days, and that is confirmed to be the case. The rookie big man lit it up in Summer League and posted a strong pair of preseason efforts prior to being placed into protocols. He will be a major factor for the Kings in 2022-23 and figures to be among the favorites in the Rookie of the Year race.
Oct 21, 2022
Expected to play Saturday
Murray has cleared the health and safety protocols and will likely make his NBA debut Saturday, Marc J. Spears of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray should make his highly anticipated debut against the Clippers on Saturday following a bout with Covid-19. The fourth overall pick is expected to slide into the starting power forward slot, and after booking a full practice on Friday should face little to no restrictions.
Oct 21, 2022
Practices again Friday
Murray (COVID-19 protocols) practiced Friday, Frankie Cartoscelli of Sactown Sports 1140 reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray appears to have a strong chance of debuting Saturday after missing the opener due to protocols. He's expected to start this season, and with minimal help at forward behind him, it shouldn't surprise anyone if he sees 30-plus minutes per game.
Oct 20, 2022
Practices Thursday
Murray (COVID-19 protocols) participated in Thursday's practice session, Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray participated in Wednesday's shootaround after clearing the league's health and safety protocols, but he was unavailable for the Kings' regular-season opener against the Trail Blazers. He continues to trend in the right direction ahead of Saturday's game against the Clippers, and it certainly seems possible that he'll be cleared to make his season debut during that matchup.
Oct 19, 2022
Rejoins team, won't play Wednesday
Murray has cleared the league's health and safety protocols but remains out for Wednesday's regular-season opener against the Trail Blazers, Sean Cunningham of ABC 10 Sacramento reports.
ANALYSIS
Although Murray will be unable to make his NBA debut Wednesday, he's back with the team and participated in Wednesday's shootaround. Terence Davis, KZ Okpala and Trey Lyles should see increased roles against Portland, while Murray's next chance to suit up will be Saturday against the Clippers.
Oct 18, 2022
Ruled out Wednesday
Murray (COVID-19 protocols) is listed as out on the injury report for Wednesday's season opener versus Portland.
ANALYSIS
Murray is still in the league's health and safety protocols ahead of Wednesday's game. The 2022 No. 4 pick will have to wait until at least Saturday versus the Clippers to make his NBA debut. With Murray out, Terence Davis, KZ Okpala and Trey Lyles are all in contention for his starting spot.
Oct 18, 2022
Doesn't practice Tuesday
Murray (COVID-19 protocols) wasn't present at practice Tuesday, Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray tested into the league's health and safety protocols last week after missing the Kings' final two preseason games due to what was originally thought to be a non-COVID illness. The rookie first-round pick has remained away from the team since entering protocols and will likely be sidelined for Wednesday's regular-season opener after not practicing Tuesday. Murray's next chance to suit up will come Saturday, but even if he's cleared ahead of the game, he'll likely have to log at least one full practice before making his NBA debut.
Oct 15, 2022
Enters health and safety protocols
Murray (illness) is at home and resting Saturday as he entered the league's health and safety protocols, Sean Cunningham of ABC 10 Sacramento reports.
ANALYSIS
While Murray has missed the last two preseason games due to a supposed non-COVID illness, it is unclear if he has now tested positive for the virus. Regardless, the 2022 No. 4 pick's status for Wednesday's regular-season opener versus Portland is in question.
Oct 14, 2022
Out Friday
Murray (illness) will not play in the Kings preseason finale versus the Lakers.
ANALYSIS
Murray has been battling an illness and will not play Friday as a result. The issue does not figure to impact his status entering the season, as Sacramento is presumably exercising caution with their first-round pick.
Oct 13, 2022
Resumes practicing
Murray (illness) returned to practice Thursday, James Ham of ESPN 1320 Sacramento reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray missed Wednesday's preseason matchup with the Suns due to a non-COVID illness. It is unclear if Murray will play in Friday's preseason finale against the Lakers. However, the 2022 No. 4 pick returning to practice is a good sign of his availability for the team's regular-season opener against Portland on Oct. 19.
Oct 12, 2022
Won't play Wednesday
Murray (illness) has been ruled out for Wednesday's preseason game against the Suns, Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray missed Tuesday's practice due to a non-COVID illness, and he'll remain sidelined Wednesday as the Kings face the Suns in their penultimate preseason game. Murray's next chance to return to the court will be for Friday's preseason finale against the Lakers, but if he doesn't feel better by then, he will likely be considered questionable ahead of next Wednesday's season opener against the Trail Blazers.
Oct 11, 2022
Doesn't practice Tuesday
Murray didn't practice Tuesday due to a non-COVID illness, Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee reports.
ANALYSIS
Murray has been stellar during his first preseason action, but it appears he may be sidelined for Wednesday's exhibition against the Suns due to an illness. Teammate Richaun Holmes recently missed about a week with a non-COVID illness as well, so that seems like a reasonable timetable for Murray too. If that's the case, the rookie first-round pick's availability for the Kings' season opener against the Trail Blazers on Oct. 19 may be in jeopardy.
Oct 10, 2022
Paces Kings in preseason win
Murray ended with 16 points (5-6 FG, 5-6 3Pt, 1-2 FT), three rebounds, two steals, one assist and one block in 23 minutes during Sunday's preseason win over the Trail Blazers.
ANALYSIS
Murray continues to shine for the Kings, pacing the team with 16 points. His trajectory is pointing firmly in the right direction and despite the fact he may very well come off the bench, his fantasy outlook is bright. The strong play has come on both ends of the floor, resulting in his ADP slowly creeping up, meaning prospective managers are having to reach a little to secure his services.
Oct 4, 2022
Leads all scorers in debut
Murray logged 16 points (7-11 FG, 2-4 3Pt), six rebounds, two steals and an assist across 21 minutes in Monday's 105-75 exhibition win over the Lakers.
ANALYSIS
Murray continues to impress after a stellar Summer League. The first-round pick out of Iowa came off the bench in his preseason debut, but space in the starting lineup may be available if his play sticks at this level. Murray's potential is high on this roster, as the Kings will look quickly for the best solution to outdo last year's 30-52 record.
Oct 4, 2022
Leads all scorers in debut
Murray logged 16 points (7-11 FG, 2-4 3Pt), six rebounds, two steals and an assist across 21 minutes in Monday's 105-75 exhibition win over the Lakers.
ANALYSIS
Murray continued to impress after a stellar stint in the Summer league.
