Will miss 3-4 weeks
An MRI revealed a Grade 1 soleus strain in Nance's right calf and he is expected to miss the next 3-4 weeks of action.
ANALYSIS
Jarrett Allen (finger) is also going to miss at least the next week, leaving Cleveland thin at the center spot. Evan Mobley will likely spend more time at the five, which should open up some more minutes for Nae'Qwan Tomlin, Dean Wade and Jaylon Tyson.
Nov 29, 2025
Out Sunday
Nance (calf) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Celtics.
ANALYSIS
Nance will miss the first leg of the team's back-to-back set due to a right calf strain, and his next chance to play will come Monday against the Pacers. With Jarrett Allen (finger) also ruled out, Thomas Bryant, Dean Wade and Nae'Qwan Tomlin are candidates for increased playing time.
Nov 28, 2025
Reverting back to bench
Nance is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against Atlanta.
ANALYSIS

Nov 24, 2025
Enters first unit
Nance is starting in Monday's game against the Raptors, Serena Winters of FanDuel Sports Network Ohio reports.
ANALYSIS
The Cavaliers are without De'Andre Hunter (rest) on Monday, enabling Nance to draw his second start of the season. Nance has averaged just 3.6 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 15.1 minutes per contest over 14 games this season, but his minutes should enter the 20s against Toronto.
Nov 15, 2025
Logs season-low five minutes
Nance posted zero points (0-2 FG, 0-2 3Pt) over five minutes during Saturday's 108-100 win over Memphis.
ANALYSIS
Nance continues to play a muted role, having now logged single-digit minutes in two straight games. Outside of a couple of somewhat intriguing performances, Nance has been a non-factor thus far, averaging 3.8 points and 3.2 rebounds in 15.1 minutes per game through his first 12 games.
Nov 12, 2025
Set to face Heat
Nance (knee) will play in Wednesday's game against the Heat, Chris Fedor of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance has been upgraded to available for the opening end of a back-to-back set. He had been listed as questionable due to a bruised left knee. With Evan Mobley resting, Nance should see an increased role.
Nov 11, 2025
Questionable for Wednesday
Nance (knee) is questionable for Wednesday's game against Miami.
ANALYSIS
A knee contusion continues to bother Nance, who has missed consecutive outings with the issue. Should Nance return to action Wednesday, the veteran big man would be a potential replacement in the starting lineup for Evan Mobley (rest) at power forward.
Nov 10, 2025
Out Monday
Nance (knee) has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Heat, Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance will miss his second consecutive game due to a left knee contusion, and his next opportunity to play will come in Wednesday's rematch against the Heat. With the veteran big man sidelined, Dean Wade and Thomas Bryant are candidates for increased minutes.
Nov 9, 2025
Iffy for Monday
Nance (knee) is questionable for Monday's game against the Heat.
ANALYSIS
Nance missed Saturday's matchup against the Hawks with a left knee contusion and is uncertain to play in the Cavaliers' next game against the Heat. The veteran has come off the bench in eight of nine appearances this season, averaging 16.7 minutes per game, and if he remains sidelined, Dean Wade is a candidate to see an uptick in playing time.
Nov 8, 2025
Won't play vs. Chicago
Nance (knee) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Hawks, Spencer Davies of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance will miss his first game of the season due to a left knee contusion. His next chance to play will come Monday against the Heat. With the veteran big man sidelined, Dean Wade and Thomas Bryant are candidates for increased minutes against Atlanta.
Nov 8, 2025
Iffy for Saturday
Nance (knee) is questionable for Saturday's game against the Bulls.
ANALYSIS
Nance is dealing with a bruised left knee, which could keep him sidelined. If he's ruled out, the team will likely turn to Chris Livingston and Thomas Bryant to help shoulder the load in the frontcourt.
Nov 5, 2025
Slides back to bench
Nance isn't part of the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the 76ers.
ANALYSIS
Nance drew the start in Cleveland's previous contest due to the absence of Jarrett Allen (finger). However, Allen is available for Wednesday's tilt and will re-enter the first five. In the five games Allen has been healthy, Nance has averaged 5.4 points and 4.0 rebounds across 15.4 minutes.
Nov 2, 2025
Starting vs. Atlanta
Nance will start in Sunday's game against the Hawks.
ANALYSIS
The veteran big man will get the starting nod over Dean Wade with Jarrett Allen (finger) sidelined for a second consecutive game. Over six regular-season appearances, Nance has averaged 4.5 points and 3.7 rebounds while shooting 36.7 percent from the field in 16.0 minutes per contest.
Oct 27, 2025
Sees limited run
Nance closed with five points (2-3 FG, 1-1 3Pt), five rebounds, one assist and one steal across 12 minutes during Sunday's 118-113 victory over the Bucks.
ANALYSIS
Nance has been highly effective in limited run through three games for the Cavaliers. He's averaging 8.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 0.7 steals in 14.9 minutes through three regular-season contests, proving that he still has plenty left in the tank. His low workload makes him difficult to trust, but if the Cavaliers are ever shorthanded, Nance would be an appealing streamer.
Oct 14, 2025
Back to bench in preseason finale
Nance is coming off the bench in Tuesday's preseason finale against Detroit.
ANALYSIS
Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley will take over their usual duties in the frontcourt for Tuesday's final tune-up. Nance is set to open the new season as Allen's top backup at center, and the former's streaming appeal will likely be limited in that role.
Oct 12, 2025
Nearly double-doubles
Nance posted 11 points (2-10 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 6-7 FT), nine rebounds, one assist and three steals across 23 minutes of Sunday's 138-107 preseason loss to Boston.
ANALYSIS
Nance drew the start Sunday with the Cavaliers sitting their key players, and that included Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen. Nance was a key free agent acquisition for the team and projects to be the first big off the bench, and it helps that he can fill in at the four and five in the frontcourt.
Oct 12, 2025
Starting preseason game
Nance is part of the starting lineup for Sunday's preseason game against the Celtics.
ANALYSIS
With several anticipated starters seemingly resting, Nance will draw a start Sunday. Craig Porter, Tyrese Proctor, Jaylon Tyson and Dean Wade make up the rest of the first unit.
Jul 1, 2025
Inking deal with Cleveland
Nance (knee) is signing with the Cavaliers, NBA reporter Marc Stein reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance is set to embark on his second tenure with the Cavaliers, as he spent parts of four seasons in Cleveland earlier in his career. The veteran big man will likely serve as Jarrett Allen's top backup at center, also supplying the Cavs with frontcourt depth at power forward as well. Nance was fairly effective when healthy in a reserve capacity during 2024-25, closing with averages of 8.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 0.8 steals and 1.4 three-pointers in 19.3 minutes across 24 regular-season games.
Mar 26, 2025
Out for season
The Hawks announced Wednesday that Nance (knee) will miss the rest of the season while recovering from a right medial femoral condyle fracture.
ANALYSIS
Nance has officially been ruled out for the rest of the 2024-25 campaign due to his knee injury. The veteran big man played in only 24 games for the Hawks, averaging 8.5 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game, shooting 51.6 percent from the floor and a career-high 44.7 percent from beyond the arc.
Feb 12, 2025
Re-evaluated in six weeks
Nance (knee) will have a non-displaced fracture in his right knee re-evaluated in six weeks.
ANALYSIS
After suffering a right knee injury in Tuesday's win against the Magic, Nance will miss a considerable amount of time with a non-displaced fracture. The veteran forward's injury will be re-evaluated in six weeks, and it could eventually result in being ruled out for the season. The 31-year-old is averaging 8.5 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game for the Hawks while shooting a career-high 44.7 percent from beyond the arc.
Feb 11, 2025
Ruled out for Wednesday
Nance (knee) won't play in Wednesday's game versus the Knicks.
ANALYSIS
Nance will miss Wednesday's contest after suffering a right knee injury Monday. The 31-year-old big man will have the entire All-Star break to recover before Atlanta returns to action against Orlando on Feb. 20.
Feb 10, 2025
Officially ruled out
Nance (knee) has been ruled out for the rest of Monday's game versus Orlando.
ANALYSIS
Nance played 19 minutes before leaving the game with his knee injury. Nance's status for Wednesday's game against the Knicks is up in the air, meaning if he and Clint Capela (undisclosed) can't go, Dominick Barlow might get some extended run backing up Onyeka Okongwu.
Feb 10, 2025
Exits early Monday
Nance exited to the locker room after sustaining an apparent right leg injury in Monday's game against the Magic, Lauren L. Williams of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance required assistance walking off the floor after checking out with 8:01 remaining in the fourth quarter. In the likely event that the veteran big man is unable to return, he'll finish the game with eight points (4-6 FG, 0-1 3Pt), three rebounds and one assist across 19 minutes.
Feb 8, 2025
Provides spark off bench in win
Nance posted 14 points (6-11 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 0-1 FT), six rebounds, one assist and one block over 22 minutes during Saturday's 125-111 victory over the Wizards.
ANALYSIS
It was Nance's highest scoring output since the Dec. 19 loss to the Spurs. The veteran big man is still working his way back from December right hand surgery, as he's shooting only 38.2 percent from the field over his last eight games. Nance is averaging 6.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 19.1 minutes during this period.
Feb 4, 2025
Double-doubles off bench
Nance ended with 12 points (5-8 FG, 2-4 3Pt), 10 rebounds, two assists and one steal across 20 minutes during Monday's 132-130 win over the Pistons.
ANALYSIS
Nance recorded his third double-double of the campaign in the win. He's been quiet in previous outings, but he's a name to monitor in deeper formats in case he can take advantage of his newfound minutes with Jalen Johnson (shoulder) out for the season and Clint Capela rumored to be on the trade block.
Jan 28, 2025
Available to play
Nance (hand) is available for Tuesday's game against the Rockets.
ANALYSIS
Nance missed the first leg of Atlanta's back-to-back set Monday against Minnesota, presumably to be ready for Tuesday. He recently returned from a 12-game absence Saturday against the Raptors, finishing with four points, four rebounds and one assist in 20 minutes.
Jan 27, 2025
Won't play Monday
Nance (hand) has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Timberwolves, Brad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance had missed 12 games while recovering from right hand surgery, but he managed to return Saturday against the Raptors and finished with four points, four rebounds and one assist in 20 minutes. He'll be sidelined for Monday's contest, but he could be available for Tuesday's clash against the Rockets. Dominick Barlow and Mouhamed Gueye could see some playing time behind Onyeka Okongwu and Clint Capela due to Nance's absence.
Jan 26, 2025
Iffy for Monday
Nance is questionable for Monday's game against the Timberwolves due to right-hand injury management.
ANALYSIS
Nance returned from a 12-game absence Saturday and he finds himself on the injury report again as he continues to ease back into play from a right hand injury. Nance could see a substantial role if he is able to suit up due to Jalen Johnson (shoulder) being sidelined.
Jan 26, 2025
Struggles as starter in return
Nance scored four points (2-10 FG, 0-4 3Pt), grabbed four boards and dished one assist in 20 minutes during Saturday's 117-94 loss to the Raptors.
ANALYSIS
The big man had missed 12 straight contests with a hand injury prior to Saturday's outing, but looked rusty in his return to say the least. He got thrust into a spot start with Jalen Johnson (shoulder) and De'Andre Hunter (illness) both sidelined, but failed to make the most of his volume, putting up a paltry line from the field and failing to make a real impact on either side of the ball. Although Johnson is out indefinitely, Hunter is expected to return soon, which would likely send Nance back to the bench.
Jan 25, 2025
Officially good to go
Nance (hand) is available for Saturday's game versus the Raptors.
ANALYSIS
Nance has been upgraded from probable to available Saturday after missing Atlanta's previous 12 outings due to recovering from right hand surgery. The 31-year-old big man is averaging 9.7 points, 5.1 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.0 blocks in 21.5 minutes across his last 10 outings.
Jan 25, 2025
Participates in shootaround
Nance (hand) went through shootaround ahead of Saturday's game versus the Raptors, Kevin Chouinard of the Hawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance hasn't played since Dec. 28 after undergoing right hand surgery. However, the 31-year-old big man is deemed probable against Toronto, and all signs point toward him suiting up Saturday.
Jan 24, 2025
Upgraded to probable
Nance (hand) has been upgraded to probable for Saturday's game against the Raptors.
ANALYSIS
After undergoing right hand surgery back on Jan. 2, Nance appears to be on the verge of returning to Atlanta's lineup sooner than originally anticipated. With the veteran big man likely to play Saturday and Jalen Johnson (shoulder) ruled out, Nance's return would likely eat into the playing time of Dominick Barlow and David Roddy in the Hawks' second unit. That said, Nance could be facing a minutes restriction if he's indeed upgraded to available against Toronto.
Jan 17, 2025
Will be re-evaluated in one week
Nance (hand) will be re-evaluated in one week after undergoing hand surgery on Jan. 2.
ANALYSIS
Nance was initially expected to return after the All-Star break, but the fact that he'll be re-evaluated in a week suggests the big man could be progressing quicker than expected. In any case, don't expect Nance to be a factor in the rotation even if deemed available, so his return shouldn't have a lot of fantasy implications.
Jan 3, 2025
Has surgery on hand
Nance underwent surgery Thursday to repair the fractured fourth metacarpal bone in his right hand and will be re-evaluated in two weeks, Brad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance suffered the injury during the Hawks' 120-110 win over the Heat this past Saturday, and imagining confirmed that the 31-year-old fractured his right hand. He'll begin the rehabilitation process immediately and his evaluation in two weeks will provide a better picture on his timeline to return. Nance averaged 19.4 minutes per game before his injury, and that playing time will be absorbed by Onyeka Okongwu and Dominick Barlow for as long as Nance is sidelined.
Dec 30, 2024
Will undergo surgery on hand
The Hawks announced Monday that Nance will undergo surgery on Thursday after imaging confirmed a fractured fourth metacarpal bone in his right hand.
ANALYSIS
A timetable has yet to be provided, but there will likely be an update following the procedure. With that said, fantasy managers should brace for a multi-week absence. Nance had a terrific stretch to end December, so this is a big blow for Atlanta. Fortunately for the franchise, Onyeka Okongwu returned from his knee injury on Sunday.
Dec 29, 2024
Won't play Sunday
Nance (hand) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Raptors, Brad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance sustained the right hand injury in Saturday's win over Miami, during which he played through the issue and produced 10 points (4-6 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 10 rebounds, two steals and one assist in 27 minutes. Further specifics on a treatment plan will be shared once available, and while there is no clear timetable for his return, the veteran big man's next chance to suit up will come Wednesday against Denver.
Dec 28, 2024
Suffers hand injury Saturday
Nance sustained a right hand injury in Saturday's 120-110 victory over the Heat. He finished with 10 points (4-6 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 10 rebounds, one assist and two steals in 27 minutes.
ANALYSIS
It's unclear when Nance suffered the injury, but there aren't additional details outside of the fact that he suffered a problem in his right hand. The Hawks' next game will come against the Heat on Saturday, but given that Nance doesn't have a timetable to return, he's expected to miss at least a few games at a bare minimum.
Dec 20, 2024
First double-double of season
Nance supplied 21 points (8-13 FG, 5-6 3Pt), 13 rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal in 31 minutes off the bench during Thursday's 133-126 overtime loss to the Spurs.
ANALYSIS
The journeyman big didn't even get onto the court in either of the prior two games, but Nance was ready to step back into the frontcourt rotation with Onyeka Okongwu (knee) sidelined by a knee issue. Nance led the Hawks in rebounding on the night while playing a season high in minutes and producing his first double-double of 2024-25. Okongwu is expected to at least three more games, putting Nance firmly on the fantasy radar potentially through to the end of the month.
Dec 11, 2024
Returning to bench Wednesday
Nance will come off the bench Wednesday versus New York.
ANALYSIS
Nance sliding to the second unit corresponds with Jalen Johnson (shoulder) returning to health for Atlanta. Nance is averaging 7.6 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 15.6 minutes across his last five contests off the bench.
Dec 9, 2024
Solid outing in loss Sunday
Nance amassed 16 points (6-11 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, three assists and two steals over 24 minutes during Sunday's 141-111 loss to the Nuggets.
ANALYSIS
Prior to Sunday's matchup, the veteran big man hadn't seen the court since Nov. 17, though he stepped into the starting five in place of Jalen Johnson (shoulder) and played valuable minutes. Nance was efficient while delivering a solid performance, though it remains to be seen if he'll stick in the rotation when Johnson returns. In 10 regular-season appearances, Nance has averaged 8.7 points, 2.6 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 0.9 steals across 16.5 minutes per contest.
Dec 8, 2024
Starting Sunday
Nance will start Sunday's game against the Nuggets, Kevin Chouinard of the Hawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance hasn't played since Nov. 17, but he'll slide into the starting lineup due to Jalen Johnson's (shoulder) absence. In his only start this season (Nov. 1 against the Kings), Nance posted two points and three rebounds in eight minutes.
Nov 13, 2024
Strong production Tuesday
Nance contributed 19 points (7-10 FG, 5-6 3Pt), two rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal in 27 minutes during Tuesday's 117-116 win over the Celtics.
ANALYSIS
Nance tallied a season-high 19 points in the win, demonstrating what he can do when afforded significant playing time. While this was certainly an encouraging performance, it should be noted that he had played fewer than 15 minutes in six of the previous seven games. He is someone to monitor should he step into a consistent role but for now, this is possibly an outlier.
Nov 4, 2024
Plays well off bench
Nance supplied 14 points (6-8 FG, 2-3 3Pt), six rebounds and one steal across 25 minutes during Sunday's 126-111 victory over the Pelicans.
ANALYSIS
Despite moving back to the bench, Nance supplied a versatile fantasy line in limited action. However, with Onyeka Okongwu (toe/rest) expected back Monday, Nance isn't guaranteed to see much action against the Celtics.
Nov 3, 2024
Back to bench
Nance won't start Sunday's game against the Pelicans, Brad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Network reports.
ANALYSIS
With Dyson Daniels back in action, Nance will shift to his usual reserve role. In two appearances off the bench this season, Nance has averaged 8.5 points, 2.0 assists, 1.5 rebounds and 1.0 steals in 15.0 minutes, but the majority of that production came in one game.
Nov 1, 2024
Making first start of season
Nance will start Friday's game against the Kings, Brad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance will make his first start of the season and will be joined by Trae Young, Zaccharie Risacher, Jalen Johnson and Clint Capela. He played 23 minutes against the Wizards on Monday, posting 15 points (6-9 FG), three rebounds, four assists, one block and two steals.
Oct 29, 2024
Productive off bench
Nance accumulated 15 points (6-9 FG, 3-5 3Pt), three rebounds, four assists, one block and two steals over 23 minutes during Monday's 121-119 loss to the Wizards.
ANALYSIS
Onyeka Okongwu was rested, and the Hawks were shorthanded elsewhere as well. Nance has a history of being productive in category leagues when the minutes are there, and Monday night was no different. He wasn't in the rotation in the opening three games of the season, however, but he did make a case to the coaching staff that he'll be ready when his name is called.
Oct 22, 2024
Good to go
Nance (rest) isn't listed on the injury report for Wednesday's regular-season opener against the Nets, Brad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance rested during the Hawks' preseason finale but is cleared to play during the regular season. The veteran will be a key depth piece for Atlanta's frontcourt this season after being traded to the Hawks in the deal that sent Dejounte Murray (personal) to New Orleans.
Oct 17, 2024
Rested for preseason finale
Nance (rest) won't play in Thursday's preseason game against the Thunder, Brad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Network reports.
ANALYSIS
The Hawks are resting several players for the preseason finale, and Nance is among several frontcourt players who won't see action here. The veteran is expected to open the 2024-25 season as Jalen Johnson's backup at the power forward position.
Jun 28, 2024
Shipped to Atlanta
The Pelicans traded Nance, Dyson Daniels and two first-round picks to the Hawks in exchange for Dejounte Murray on Friday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance averaged 5.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.0 steals in 19.9 minutes across 61 bench appearances for the Pelicans in 2023-24. His role in Atlanta is unclear, as Clint Capela and Onyeka Okongwu will likely both feature ahead of him in the frontcourt rotation. Regardless, Nance has displayed versatility on the defensive end as well as an improved outside shot, converting 41.5 percent of 1.1 three-point attempts per contest last season.
Apr 26, 2024
Good to go Saturday
Nance (ankle) isn't on the injury report for Saturday's Game 3 against the Thunder.
ANALYSIS
Nance was held to just 14 minutes of action in Game 2 due to an apparent right ankle injury. However, Nance should be available to continue serving as one of New Orlean's primary frontcourt options off the bench in Game 3.
Apr 26, 2024
Practices Friday
Nance (undisclosed) was a full participant in practice Friday, Jim Eichenhofer of the Pelicans' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance left Wednesday's Game 2 loss to the Thunder in the third quarter favoring his right leg and grabbed at his ankle as he walked to the locker room. He didn't play at all in the final frame. On Friday, coach Willie Green said that despite the soreness, Nance "went through a full practice." This is good news for the Pelicans, who are still without Zion Williamson (hamstring).
Apr 24, 2024
Returns from locker room
Nance (leg) has rejoined the Pelicans bench after a brief trip to the locker room during Wednesday's Game 2 against Oklahoma City, Andrew Lopez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance went back to the locker room late in the third quarter but returned to the Pelicans bench to open up the fourth quarter. He should be considered good to go for the final period.
Apr 24, 2024
Heads to locker room
Nance went back to the locker room during Wednesday's Game 2 against the Thunder with what seems to be a right leg issue, Christian Clark of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance exited the contest late in the third inning and went back to the Pelicans locker room. While he's absent, Jonas Valanciunas could see more of the center work while Naji Marshall and Dyson Daniels could slide into larger roles. Nance should be considered questionable to return.
Apr 13, 2024
Available for Sunday
Nance (personal) will be available for Sunday's game against the Lakers.
ANALYSIS
Nance will return from a two-game absence. He's appeared in five April contests, averaging 5.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.2 steals.
Apr 12, 2024
Remains out Friday
Nance (personal) won't play in Friday's game versus the Warriors.
ANALYSIS
Nance will miss his second straight game Friday due to personal reasons. Jonas Valanciunas, Cody Zeller and Jeremiah Robinson-Earl will likely continue to receive increased playing time in his absence. Nance's next chance to suit up is Sunday's matchup with the Lakers.
Apr 11, 2024
Ruled out Thursday
Nance won't play in Thursday's game versus the Kings due to personal reasons.
ANALYSIS
Nance will miss his first game since March 16 on Thursday due to personal reasons. Jeremiah Robinson-Earl and Cody Zeller are candidates to receive increased playing time in his absence. Nance's next chance to suit up is Friday's matchup with Golden State.
Apr 4, 2024
Good to go against Spurs
Nance (undisclosed) isn't on the injury report for Friday's game versus San Antonio.
ANALYSIS
After leaving Wednesday's contest against Orlando early due to an undisclosed injury, Nance is available Friday. The 30-year-old forward is averaging 6.9 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 23.5 minutes across his last 10 appearances.
Apr 4, 2024
Sustains injury Wednesday
Nance exited with 51 seconds remaining in the third quarter and didn't return to Wednesday's 117-108 loss to the Magic due to an apparent injury, Will Guillory of The Athletic reports. He finished with two points (1-2 FG, 0-1 3Pt), one rebound and one assist in 13 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Head coach Willie Green didn't provide any further details behind what resulted in Nance's removal from the contest, but Guillory notes that the veteran big man was able to return to the Pelicans bench after a brief trip to the locker room. The fact that Nance wasn't able to return at any point in the fourth quarter makes his status worth monitoring heading into Friday's game against the Spurs, particularly after Zion Williamson sustained a left middle finger contusion in the closing minutes of Wednesday's loss.
Mar 27, 2024
Logs 33 minutes off bench
Nance provided four points (2-4 FG), two rebounds and one steal across 33 minutes during Tuesday's 119-112 loss to the Thunder.
ANALYSIS
While Nance continues to come off the bench in New Orleans, he's averaging more minutes (23.5) through March than the Pelicans' starting center, Jonas Valanciunas (18.4). JV saw just 10.5 minutes of floor time Tuesday night and finished with six points, six rebounds and one assist to his credit.
Mar 20, 2024
Double-double off bench Tuesday
Nance registered 13 points (6-8 FG, 1-3 3Pt), 10 rebounds, two assists and one steal in 28 minutes off the bench during Tuesday's 104-91 win over Brooklyn.
ANALYSIS
It's only the second double-double of the season for Nance, with the other coming Dec. 31 against the Lakers. The 31-year-old big has begun seeing a bigger role in the New Orleans frontcourt in March, however -- he's played at least 27 minutes in four of his last five games, averaging 8.4 points, 5.0 boards, 2.4 assists and 1.6 steals in 25.8 minutes a contest during that stretch while shooting 59.3 percent from the floor. If that workload holds up, he might put himself back on the fantasy radar.
Mar 18, 2024
Not listed on injury report
Nance (illness) isn't listed on the Pelicans' injury report for Tuesday's game against the Nets.
ANALYSIS
Nance and Herbert Jones (back/hip) are expected to play after missing Saturday's win over the Trail Blazers. In six March appearances, Nance has averaged 6.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.3 steals in 22.0 minutes per game.
Mar 16, 2024
Won't play against Portland
Nance is out for Saturday's game versus the Trail Blazers due to a non-COVID illness.
ANALYSIS
Nance will miss his first game since Feb. 2 on Saturday due to an illness. Jonas Valanciunas, Cody Zeller and Naji Marshall are candidates to receive increased playing time in his absence. Nance's next chance to suit up is Tuesday's matchup with Brooklyn.

Makes strong impression
Nance posted 10 points (4-4 FG, 2-3 FT), two rebounds, three assists and four steals across 29 minutes during Sunday's 116-103 win over the Hawks.
ANALYSIS
Nance started the second half in place of a struggling Jonas Valanciunas, playing 29 minutes compared to Valanciunas' 19. This was Nance's second game in a row with a minutes workload in the 20s, so this is certainly a trend to watch.
Feb 27, 2024
Passive performance Tuesday
Nance logged four points (2-3 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 0-1 FT), six rebounds and three assists in 19 minutes during Tuesday's 115-92 win over the Knicks.
ANALYSIS
Nance was quiet on both ends of the floor, continuing his underwhelming production of late. Despite playing at least 19 minutes in eight of the past 10 games, Nance has topped double-digits only once, adding a combined 11 steals and blocks in that time. As a player who is outside the top 200 for the season, Nance can be safely left alone outside of deeper formats.
Feb 13, 2024
Flirts with double-double off bench
Nance chipped in eight points (3-4 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 1-2 FT), nine rebounds, three assists and one steal across 30 minutes during Monday's 96-87 victory over the Grizzlies.
ANALYSIS
Nance led all bench players in Monday's contest in rebounds while hauling in a team-high-tying rebound total and ending one board and two points shy of a double-double in a bench-leading minute total. Nance has tallied at least eight points and eight boards in five games this season, his first such outing since Jan. 23 against Utah.
Feb 5, 2024
Good to go Monday
Nance (ankle) has been cleared to play Monday versus Toronto, Erin Summers of Bally Sports New Orleans reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance was a full participant at practice Sunday, so this is the expected outcome. He returns from a one-game absence to slot into a fully healthy Pelicans' frontcourt.
Feb 4, 2024
Listed as questionable
Nance (ankle) is questionable for Monday's game against Toronto.
ANALYSIS
Nance sat out Friday's game against the Spurs due to his ankle injury but was a full participant in Sunday's practice session. While he appears to be trending in the right direction, it's not yet clear whether he'll be able to suit up against the Raptors.
Feb 4, 2024
Full go at practice
Nance (ankle) was a full participant during Sunday's practice, Will Guillory of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance missed Friday's one-point win over the Spurs, marking his first absence since Dec. 26. It appears he'll return to action Monday versus Toronto, but his official status for that game will be revealed Sunday night.
Feb 2, 2024
Out Friday
Nance (ankle) has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Spurs, Andrew Lopez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance will be sidelined for the first time since Dec. 26. His next chance to suit up will come Monday versus Toronto. In Nance's absence, Cody Zeller and Naji Marshall are candidates for increased roles.
Feb 1, 2024
Iffy for Friday
Nance is listed as questionable for Friday's game versus the Spurs due to left ankle soreness.
ANALYSIS
Nance is in danger of missing his first game since Dec. 26 on Friday due to a sore left ankle. If Nance is ruled out, Cody Zeller and Naji Marshall would be candidates to receive increased playing time.
Feb 1, 2024
Fails to score in 15 minutes
Nance provided zero points (0-3 FG, 0-2 3Pt), five rebounds, three assists and one steal over 15 minutes during Wednesday's 110-99 victory over the Rockets.
ANALYSIS
Nance was a non-factor in the win, scoring fewer than five points for the fourth time in the past six games. While he does have a somewhat fantasy-friendly game, Nance typically struggles to play more than about 20 minutes on any given night. Outside of deeper formats, he should be viewed as nothing more than a streaming consideration.
Jan 24, 2024
Approaches double-double in win
Nance finished with 12 points (5-6 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 1-1 FT), eight rebounds, three assists, one block and one steal in 20 minutes during Tuesday's 153-124 win over the Jazz.
ANALYSIS
Nance scored in double figures for the fourth time in the last six games Tuesday, and he came within two rebounds of a double-double in the blowout win. Over 11 appearances this month, he's averaged 8.4 points and 6.0 rebounds in 19.6 minutes per game.
Jan 15, 2024
Top rebounder in near double-double
Nance closed with 14 points (5-11 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 3-3 FT), eight rebounds, two assists and three steals over 26 minutes during Monday's 125-120 loss to the Mavericks.
ANALYSIS
Nance led all Pelicans in rebounds while finishing as one of six players with a double-digit point total and ending two boards short of a double-double. Nance has hauled in at least eight rebounds in five games this year, pairing it with 10 or more points in two of those contests.
Jan 13, 2024
Strong two-way effort
Nance ended with 13 points (5-6 FG, 3-4 3Pt), two rebounds, one assist, one block and two steals across 20 minutes during Friday's 125-113 loss to Denver.
ANALYSIS
Nance produced on both ends of the floor, hitting a season-high three triples en route to 13 points to go with three combined steals and blocks. Despite playing just 19.7 minutes per night over the past two weeks, Nance has been able to churn out top-100 value, putting up averages of 7.6 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.0 three-pointers. He isn't someone who needs to be rostered but his proven ability to contribute on both ends of the floor at least puts him on the 12-team radar.
Dec 29, 2023
Brings defensive stats in return
Nance (ribs) tallied nine points (4-6 FG, 1-2 3Pt), seven rebounds, five steals and one block across 25 minutes in Thursday's 112-105 win over the Jazz.
ANALYSIS
Though Nance had missed the Pelicans' previous 13 games with a right rib fracture, he ended up seeing his most minutes of the season in his return and came through with what was probably his best fantasy line of the campaign. He finished a team-best plus-16 during his time on the court and ended up cutting into starting center Jonas Valanciunas' playing time (23 minutes) as a result. Nance often proved to be a better fit alongside Zion Williamson than Jonas Valanciunas on the rare occasions last season all three were available, so it wouldn't be surprising if Nance ended up working his way into a near-even timeshare at center with Valanciunas.
Dec 28, 2023
Says he'll play Thursday
Nance (ribs) said he'll play in Thursday's game against the Jazz, Christian Clark of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance hasn't suited up since Nov. 27 due to his rib injury but will be able to return to action Thursday after being deemed questionable. He averaged 3.5 points and 4.1 rebounds in 15.1 minutes per game over his first 14 appearances of the season, but it wouldn't be surprising to see him face a minutes restriction against Utah.
Dec 27, 2023
Questionable for Thursday
Nance (ribs) is listed as questionable for Thursday's game versus Utah.
ANALYSIS
Nance hasn't played since Nov. 27 due to a right rib fracture. However, his upgraded injury status is a good sign that the 30-year-old forward is nearing a return.
Dec 26, 2023
Will not play
Nance (ribs) will not play in Tuesday's game against the Grizzlies, Will Guillory of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
No surprise here, as Nance was previously considered doubtful. Nance has been sidelined since the end of November, but he's due to be re-evaluated any day now. His next chance to play will be Thursday against Utah.
Dec 25, 2023
Listed as doubtful
Nance (ribs) is doubtful for Tuesday's game against the Grizzlies.
ANALYSIS
Nance aggravated his right rib fracture in late November and was expected to miss 4-to-6 weeks. While he'll likely remain sidelined Tuesday, it appears the backup big man could return closer to the front end of his timetable, barring a setback. Following Tuesday's contest, the Pelicans play two more times this week, Thursday versus Utah and Sunday against the Lakers.
Nov 30, 2023
Set to miss 4-6 weeks
The Pelicans announced Thursday that Nance aggravated his right rib fracture and is expected to miss approximately 4-6 weeks, Andrew Lopez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance missed Wednesday's game due to a non-COVID illness and was slated to miss a second consecutive matchup Friday, but he'll now be forced to miss extended time after aggravating his rib injury. Cody Zeller and Naji Marshall are candidates to see increased run while Nance is sidelined.
Nov 30, 2023
Won't play Friday
Nance (illness) has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Spurs, Erin Summers of Bally Sports New Orleans reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance was a late addition to the injury report for Wednesday's game against the 76ers, and he'll be forced to miss a second consecutive game due to a non-COVID illness. His next chance to suit up will be in the second half of a back-to-back set Saturday against Chicago, while Cody Zeller could see a slight uptick in playing time once again Friday.
Nov 29, 2023
Late scratch Wednesday
Nance is out for Wednesday's game versus the 76ers due to a non-COVID illness.
ANALYSIS
Nance was a late addition to New Orleans' injury report and will be held out of Wednesday's contest. Cody Zeller, Naji Marshall and Jeremiah Robinson-Earl are candidates to receive extended minutes in his absence. Nance's next chance to suit up is Friday's matchup with the Spurs.
Nov 24, 2023
Handles light role in return
Nance (ribs) played 12 minutes off the bench in Wednesday's 117-112 win over the Kings, scoring four points (2-4 FG, 0-1 3Pt) and adding four rebounds and one steal.
ANALYSIS
Nance was back in action after missing the Pelicans' previous four games with a right rib fracture. He saw only limited run as New Orleans' backup center and will likely struggle to crack 20 minutes in most games so long as Jonas Valanciunas stays healthy and avoids foul trouble.
Nov 22, 2023
Good to go against Sacramento
Nance (ribs) is available for Wednesday's game versus the Kings, Will Guillory of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance has been upgraded from questionable to available Wednesday after missing the previous four games with a right rib fracture. Nance will likely continue to serve as New Orleans' backup center behind Jonas Valanciunas.
Nov 21, 2023
Listed as questionable
Nance (ribs) is questionable for Wednesday's game against the Kings.
ANALYSIS
Nance was diagnosed with a right rib fracture Nov. 13 but returned to practice Tuesday and may be able to suit up Wednesday. Before suffering the injury, Nance played at least 15 minutes in nine straight games to start the season, averaging 4.2 points and 4.6 rebounds in 16.6 minutes per game during that stretch.
Nov 21, 2023
Practices Tuesday
Coach Willie Green said Nance (ribs) fully participated in Tuesday's practice, Christian Clark of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance was diagnosed with a right rib fracture Nov. 13 and was expected to miss 10-to-14 days. His return to practice is a positive sign, but it's unclear when he'll be cleared for game action. Following Wednesday's matchup against the Kings, New Orleans begins a three-game road trip against the Clippers on Friday.
Nov 13, 2023
Diagnosed with fractured rib
The Pelicans announced Monday that Nance has been diagnosed with a right rib fracture and will be re-evaluated in 10-14 days.
ANALYSIS
Nance played single-digit minutes for the first time this season during Sunday's loss to the Mavericks, and his injury helps explain his decreased role. The 30-year-old will now be forced to miss at least a week and a half, which could lead to an uptick in minutes for Cody Zeller and Naji Marshall. Nance came off the bench in his first 10 appearances of the season and averaged 3.8 points and 4.4 rebounds in 15.7 minutes per game.
Nov 13, 2023
Plays seven minutes
Nance registered zero points (0-2 FG, 0-1 3Pt) and three rebounds in seven minutes during Sunday's 136-124 loss to the Mavericks.
ANALYSIS
Nance hasn't been listed on recent injury reports, but he's been grabbing at his right shoulder during the past couple games. The Pelicans gave Cody Zeller a bit more run than usual Sunday, so hopefully Nance will be fresh for Tuesday's game against Dallas.
Nov 2, 2023
Efficient against Oklahoma City
Nance provided nine points (4-5 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 0-2 FT), seven rebounds, two assists and two steals in 23 minutes during Wednesday's 110-106 win over the Thunder.
ANALYSIS
Nance dealt with an ankle injury during the preseason and has ramped up his playing time over the first four games of the regular season. The 30-year-old has secured at least five rebounds in every matchup, but Wednesday's performance was one of his best of the young season, as he played over 20 minutes while racking up multiple steals for the first time this year. Nance averaged 6.8 points and 5.4 rebounds in 21.2 minutes per game over 65 appearances last year, so his playing time may remain around where it was Wednesday.
Oct 20, 2023
Good to go for regular season
Nance (ankle) said Friday that he'll be ready for the Pelicans' regular-season opener against the Grizzlies on Oct. 25.
ANALYSIS
Nance didn't suit up this preseason due to a left ankle injury but has returned to practice. It appears that the Pelicans were just being cautious with the veteran big man so that he could be ready for the regular season. Nance is expected to be New Orleans' backup center behind Jonas Valanciunas.
Oct 19, 2023
Fully practices Thursday
Nance (ankle) fully participated in practice Thursday, Erin Summers of Bally Sports New Orleans reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance has missed the preseason due to an ankle injury but has been targeting an Opening Night return. With just under a week remaining until the regular-season opener against the Grizzlies on Wednesday, his full participation in practice is encouraging.
Oct 2, 2023
Targeting opening night
Nance could be ready in time for opening night, Will Guillory of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance was given a timetable of 2-3 weeks back on Sept. 28, and Opening Night is still a few weeks away. With the Pelicans likely to deploy a lot of smaller lineups, Nance could see a lot of run at center this season behind Jonas Valanciunas.
Sep 28, 2023
Out for 2-3 weeks
Nance received a biological injection to stimulate the healing process in his left ankle and is expected to return to basketball activities in approximately 2-3 weeks, Andrew Lopez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance's ankle injury could cause him to miss most, if not all, of the preseason. However, he is expected to be fully healthy once the regular season rolls around. Nance will likely compete with Cody Zeller for the backup center position behind Jonas Valanciunas this season.
Apr 12, 2023
Will miss Play-In
Nance (ankle) will not play in Wednesday's Play-In Game against the Thunder.
ANALYSIS
Although Nance was able to make it through practice Tuesday, he was downgraded to out for Wednesday's contest after initially being tabbed questionable. Nance's absence should allow for Jaxon Hayes, Naji Marshall and WIlly Hernangomes to see more minutes. However, the Pelicans will likely trot out a tightened rotation for the win-or-go-home matchup. If New Orleans manages to defeat the Thunder on Wednesday, Nance will have another shot at playing Friday against Minnesota.
Apr 11, 2023
Listed as questionable
Nance is listed as questionable for Wednesday's Play-In matchup against the Thunder due to left ankle soreness.
ANALYSIS
Per Andrew Lopez of ESPN.com, Nance was able to practice Tuesday, but New Orleans continues to monitor his injury. If he's unable to suit up, Willy Hernangomez, Jaxson Hayes and Naji Marshall would be candidates for increased roles behind Herbert Jones and Jonas Valanciunas in the Pelicans' frontcourt.
Mar 28, 2023
On outskirts of rotation
Nance posted two points (1-1 FG) and three rebounds in 11 minutes during Monday's 124-90 victory over the Trail Blazers.
ANALYSIS
Nance played his fewest minutes since his return from a six-game injury absence in mid-March and played 15 or fewer minutes for a fifth straight game. It's unclear if the Pelicans are opting to work the versatile big man back up to speed, or if Nance is simply just not playing well enough to carve out the role he had earlier in the campaign. Either way, fantasy managers can safely ignore Nance while he's operating in his current role.
Mar 18, 2023
Offers little in loss
Nance posted two points (1-2 FG), one rebound, two assists and one steal over 14 minutes during Friday's 114-112 loss to Houston.
ANALYSIS
Nance barely troubled the scorers, continuing what has been a rough six-week period. He is well outside the top 250 over the past month, falling well off the radar, even in slightly deeper leagues. He is someone to keep an eye on given what he can do, even in limited minutes, although based on what we have seen recently, an uptick in production seems unlikely.
Mar 13, 2023
Gets light run in return
Nance (ankle) played eight minutes and finished with two points (1-1 FG) and two rebounds in Sunday's 127-110 win over Portland.
ANALYSIS
Playing for the first time since Feb. 25 after missing the previous six games with a left ankle sprain, Nance received his second-fewest minutes of the season. Considering that Nance racked up three fouls during his limited time on the court before the game devolved into a blowout by the end of the third quarter, head coach Willie Green likely made a deliberate choice to restrict the big man's minutes. Nance should see his playing time pick up in future games, but he'll likely need a consistent 25-plus-minute role before he re-emerges as a pickup in most 12-team leagues.
Mar 12, 2023
Available to play
Nance (ankle) will be available to play Sunday against Portland, Will Guillory of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance will be returning from a six-game absence, so he may not see a full workload in this one. However, with Nance back in action, Jaxson Hayes could see his minutes dip.
Mar 12, 2023
Questionable for Sunday
Nance (ankle) has been upgraded to questionable for Sunday's game against Portland, Andrew Lopez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance could make his return and has missed the last few weeks with a left ankle sprain, an injury that has kept him sidelined since Feb. 25. He's averaging 7.7 points and 5.9 rebounds per game across 50 appearances (one start) this season.
Feb 28, 2023
Out at least two weeks
Nance (ankle) will be re-evaluated in two weeks, Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance was helped to the locker room during Saturday's loss to the Knicks, and he was spotted on crutches after the game. Unsurprisingly, he'll be out for an extended period. In his absence, with Zion Williamson (hamstring) also out, Naji Marshall, Herbert Jones, Trey Murphy and Jaxson Hayes are all candidates to see more action.
Feb 26, 2023
Out Monday
Larry Nance (ankle) has been ruled out for Monday's game against Orlando.
ANALYSIS
Nance was spotted exiting the arena on crutches Saturday, so it's not surprising to see him ruled out a full day in advance of Monday's tip, and this could certainly extend into a multi-game absence. The Pelicans haven't released a timetable just yet, but at this juncture in the fantasy season, it's risky to roster injured players outside of an injury reserve spot. Expect more minutes for Naji Marshall and Willy Hernangomez while Nance is out.
Feb 26, 2023
Spotted in crutches after game
Nance, who exited in the second quarter of Saturday's 128-106 loss to the Knicks with a sprained left ankle, was spotted using crutches and wearing a walking boot in the locker room after the game, Andrew Lopez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Though Nance's use of crutches might just be precautionary and not necessarily an indication that he's dealing with any structural damage to his ankle, it's nonetheless a sign that he's likely to miss some time on account of the injury. The Pelicans are expected to provide an update on Nance on Sunday, but for the time being, he looks doubtful to be available when New Orleans opens a three-game week Monday versus Orlando. Willy Hernangomez stepped in as the top backup to starting center Jonas Valanciunas following Nance's early exit Saturday.
Feb 25, 2023
Will not return Saturday
Nance (ankle) won't return to Saturday's game against the Knicks, Jim Eichenhofer of the Pelicans' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The veteran forward has been diagnosed with a left ankle sprain, and the fact that he is not returning shouldn't surprise anyone, given he was helped off the court while looking unable to put on any weight on his ankle. Nance's next chance to play will come Monday against the Magic. In the meantime, more minutes could be given to Herbert Jones, Jaxson Hayes, Naji Marshall and others.
Feb 25, 2023
Helped to locker room
Nance turned his ankle during the second quarter of Saturday's game against the Pelicans and was helped off the floor, Christian Clark of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
It would be shocking if Nance returned to Saturday's game, but official word should arrive shortly. If the big man misses any time, more minutes could be given to Herbert Jones, Jaxson Hayes, Naji Marshall and others.
Feb 24, 2023
Limited in return Thursday
Nance recorded three points (1-3 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 1-2 FT), six rebounds and three assists across 19 minutes during Thursday's 115-110 loss to the Raptors.
ANALYSIS
Nance returned after missing the final game prior to the break but failed to deliver anything of note. With Zion Williamson (hamstring) likely to miss at least another few weeks, Nance's ceiling is going to be capped moving forward. He can still have limited value in certain builds but in terms of overall appeal, he should be viewed as more of a streamer in nine-category formats.
Feb 23, 2023
Available Thursday
Nance (groin) is available for Thursday's game against Toronto.
ANALYSIS
Nance was probable for the Pelicans' first game after the All-Star break and will officially be able to suit up following a one-game absence. Over his eight appearances prior to the layoff, he averaged 9.4 points and 8.6 rebounds in 23.1 minutes per game.
Feb 22, 2023
Probable for Thursday
Nance (groin) is considered probable to take the floor Thursday against the Raptors.
ANALYSIS
Nance was a late addition to the injury report and ultimately missed the final game of the first half against the Lakers. Following the All-Star break, it appears he should be back in the fold for his usual workload. Nance finished the first half averaging 8.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.9 assists over 22.7 minutes per game.
Feb 15, 2023
Downgraded to out
Nance (groin) will not play in Wednesday's game against the Lakers.
ANALYSIS
Nance was a late addition to the injury report Wednesday with soreness in his left groin and will end up missing the contest. Willy Hernangomez and Jaxson Hayes figure to see the majority of backup center action behind Jonas Valanciunas. Nance's next chance to play will come against the Raptors on Feb. 23.
Feb 15, 2023
Late addition to injury report
Nance is questionable for Wednesday's contest against the Lakers due to left groin soreness.
ANALYSIS
Nance was a late addition to the injury report and is in danger of missing his first game since Jan. 7. If he is ruled out, Willy Hernangomez and Jaxson Hayes would be candidates to work their way back into the rotation as backups behind Jonas Valanciunas.
Feb 7, 2023
Returns to the bench
Nance will return to the bench Tuesday against the Hawks.
ANALYSIS
Naji Marshall is also moving to the bench, as both Jonas Valanciunas and Brandon Ingram are back in the starting lineup. Even in a reserve role, Nance has been very productive over his last five games and has been scooped up in a lot of fantasy leagues as a result.
Feb 1, 2023
Records another double-double
Nance contributed 13 points (6-7 FG, 1-2 FT), 11 rebounds, one assist and two steals in 21 minutes during Tuesday's 122-113 loss to Denver.
ANALYSIS
Zion Williamson's (hamstring) injury continues to reap benefits for several role players on the Pelicans' roster, and Nance's spike is the most recent and noteworthy production increase. He followed up his first double-double of the season with a similar total against the Nuggets, but his shot was far more accurate in Tuesday's effort, nailing six of his seven shot attempts.
Jan 30, 2023
Records double-double in loss
Nance produced 10 points (4-10 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 1-2 FT), 12 rebounds, one assist and one steal across 24 minutes during Sunday's 135-110 loss to the Bucks.
ANALYSIS
The Pelicans ran with a tight rotation due to the number of injuries ion the roster, and it helped out Nance as he notched his first double-double of the season. Nance has struggled to stay healthy during his tenure in New Orleans, but if he can stay off the injury report, he'll have fantasy relevancy while Zion Williamson (hamstring) is out.
Jan 29, 2023
Increased role Saturday
Nance closed with eight points (4-6 FG, 0-1 3Pt), eight rebounds, three assists and one block over 28 minutes during Saturday's 113-103 loss to the Wizards.
ANALYSIS
Nance saw a few extra minutes in the loss, a result of Jonas Valanciunas being ejected in the second quarter. Despite the uptick in playing time, Nance failed to bring the goods, continuing what has been a rough couple of weeks. After establishing a solid role alongside Zion Williamson (hamstring) earlier in the season, Nance has since been shuffled down the rotation. His production could increase when Williamson returns but until that point, he is better suited for deeper formats.
Jan 22, 2023
All-around showing off bench
Nance logged 12 points (5-7 FG, 2-2 FT), seven rebounds, four assists, one block and four steals across 26 minutes during Sunday's 100-96 loss to the Heat.
ANALYSIS
Nance was one of six Pelicans players to score in double figures Sunday, posting a season-high-tying mark in steals while leading the bench in rebounds and assists. Nance recorded his first double-digit scoring total since scoring 13 points Dec. 15, having scored 10 or more points with five or more rebounds on 12 occasions.
Jan 16, 2023
Non-factor in Monday's loss
Nance supplied four points (2-3 FG), three rebounds, three assists and one steal across 15 minutes during Monday's 113-103 loss to the Cavaliers.
ANALYSIS
Nance continues to play limited minutes, logging fewer than 21 minutes for the third straight game. He has struggled to build any momentum since returning from injury, sitting outside the top 250 over the past two weeks. We saw him putting up 12-team value earlier in the season but really struggles when Zion Williamson (hamstring) isn't on the floor. Until Williamson returns, Nance is unlikely to be anything more than a possible stream candidate.
Jan 9, 2023
Good defensive effort in return
Nance finished Monday's 132-112 win over the Wizards with six points (3-6 FG), six rebounds, three assists, one block and two steals across 26 minutes.
ANALYSIS
After missing last game (shoulder), Nance returned with some better production compared to his previous game. He only took six shots in 25 minutes of action, but he added solid value with his rebounding and defensive stats. If he can get back to these kinds of minutes, the veteran forward provides great stream potential at the very least.
Jan 9, 2023
Available Monday
Nance (shoulder) is available Monday against Washington.
ANALYSIS
Nance was unavailable Saturday against Dallas due to a sore right shoulder, but he'll be back in action against the Wizards after being listed as probable. He returned from a four-game absence Friday against Brooklyn and was held scoreless with eight rebounds and a block in 21 minutes.
Jan 8, 2023
Probable for Monday
Nance is listed as probable for Monday's game against the Wizards due to right shoulder soreness, Andrew Lopez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
This is certainly a step in the right direction after Nance missed Saturday's game against Dallas with the same injury. The veteran is averaging 6.3 points and 6.5 rebounds per game since the start of December.
Jan 7, 2023
Sitting out Saturday
Nance will miss Saturday's game versus the Mavericks due to right shoulder soreness, Andrew Lopez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance rejoined the action following a four-game absence Friday, but he will be back on the sidelines Saturday in the second game of a back-to-back set. Nance's next opportunity to suit up arrives Monday against the Wizards.
Jan 7, 2023
Eight boards in return
Nance (shoulder) recorded zero points (0-4 FG, 0-1 3Pt), eight rebounds and one block across 21 minutes in Friday's 108-102 loss to the Nets.
ANALYSIS
Nance was back in action after a four-game absence, but the lack of production on the offensive end rendered his return a rather uneventful one. Now that he's healthy again, the 30-year-old may see a slight uptick in playing time while Zion Williamson (hamstring) is sidelined, though Naji Marshall and Jaxson Hayes seem more likely to benefit from Williamson's absence.
Jan 6, 2023
Will play Friday
Nance (shoulder) is available for Friday's matchup against the Nets.
ANALYSIS
Nance has missed four straight games, three due to a neck contusion and one with right shoulder soreness. He was initially listed as questionable for Friday due to the shoulder injury, but it appears the versatile big man has moved past both issues and will return to game action against Brooklyn. Across 29 appearances, Nance is averaging 8.6 points, 5.6 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.0 steals in 22.8 minutes, but given his extended time off, he may see limited playing time Friday.
Jan 5, 2023
Questionable against Brooklyn
Nance is questionable for Friday's game versus the Nets due to right shoulder soreness.
ANALYSIS
Nance is questionable Friday due to shoulder soreness after missing the last four games with a neck contusion. He was considered doubtful for Wednesday's contest, so his upgraded status is a good sign that he will return soon. If Nance can't suit up Friday, his next chance to play will be Saturday's matchup with Dallas.
Jan 3, 2023
Officially ruled out
Nance (shoulder) has been ruled out for Wednesday's matchup against Houston.
ANALYSIS
Head coach Willie Green said earlier Tuesday that Nance would "probably" miss Wednesday's game due to neck injury, and the team's official injury report later in the day confirmed that notion, though he's now being listed with right shoulder soreness. With Zion Williamson (hamstring) also out, Naji Marshall, Jaxon Hayes and others in the frontcourt should be in store for increased minutes during Wednesday's matchup against the Rockets.
Jan 3, 2023
Unlikely to play Wednesday
Coach Willie Green indicated Tuesday that Nance (neck) did not practice, and Nance is "probably out" for Wednesday's game versus the Rockets, Erin Summers of Bally Sports New Orleans reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance continues to work his way back from a neck contusion and doesn't appear to have a particularly positive outlook leading up to Wednesday's game. Assuming he sits again, Naji Marshall, Jaxson Hayes and others in the frontcourt will likely see expanded minutes, especially with Zion Williamson (hamstring) already ruled out.
Jan 1, 2023
Ruled out Monday
Nance (neck) is out for Monday's game against the 76ers, Jim Eichenhofer of the Pelicans' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance is one of four players out for the Pelicans ahead of Monday's game, meaning they'll be short on their depth again. This will be Nance's third straight absence and sixth across New Orleans' last eight games. His next chance to feature will come Wednesday at home against Houston.
Dec 31, 2022
Unavailable Saturday
Nance (neck) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Grizzlies, Jim Eichenhofer of the Pelicans' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance suffered a neck contusion Wednesday against the Timberwolves and will be sidelined for a second consecutive game. Willy Hernangomez and Jaxson Hayes are candidates to see increased run once again.
Dec 30, 2022
Won't suit up
Nance (neck) is out for Friday's game against Philadelphia, Erin Summers of Bally Sports New Orleans reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance has been downgraded from doubtful to out Friday with a neck contusion. His next opportunity to play is Saturday's matchup with Memphis.
Dec 29, 2022
Unlikely to play Friday
Nance (neck) is doubtful for Friday's game versus the 76ers.
ANALYSIS
Nance will likely miss Friday's game after missing Thursday's practice due to a neck contusion he suffered against Minnesota. Willy Hernangomez and Jaxson Hayes are candidates to see extended minutes if he can't suit up versus Philadelphia.
Dec 29, 2022
Doesn't practice Thursday
Nance (neck) didn't participate in Thursday's practice session, Erin Summers of Bally Sports New Orleans reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance sustained a neck contusion during Wednesday's game against Minnesota, and the issue prevented him from practicing a day later. It's unclear whether he'll be available for Friday's game against Philadelphia or Saturday's matchup against the Grizzlies.
Dec 28, 2022
Won't return Wednesday
Nance won't return to Wednesday's game against Minnesota due to a neck contusion, Will Guillory of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance logged 16 minutes of action and posted no points (0-1 FG), two rebounds, one assist and one steal before exiting early with an apparent neck injury. The forward will presumably be deemed questionable heading into the team's next contest Friday against the 76ers.
Dec 27, 2022
Quiet in Monday's return
Nance accumulated four points (2-4 FG), four rebounds, two assists and one steal across 19 minutes during Monday's 113-93 win over the Pacers.
ANALYSIS
Nance logged just 19 minutes off the bench Monday, making his return after missing three straight contests due to an Achilles issue. While it was great to see him back on the floor, his playing time and subsequent production were both a little underwhelming. Chances are he was on a minute restriction and given the fact the game was a blowout, he was simply not required to log heavy minutes. He remains a hold in standard formats despite having a somewhat inconsistent role from one night to the next.
Dec 26, 2022
Will be available Monday
Nance (Achilles) will be available Monday against the Pacers.
ANALYSIS
This is great news for New Orleans, as having Nance available means they'll have 10 players in total for Monday's contest. The veteran big man is averaging 9.0 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.9 assists across 23.2 minutes per game this season, but don't be surprised if he ends up having a bigger workload due to how shorthanded the Pelicans will be in the frontcourt.
Dec 25, 2022
Questionable Monday
Nance (Achilles) is questionable for Monday's game against Indiana, Jim Eichenhofer of the Pelicans' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance has been unavailable for the last three matchups but will have a chance to return against the Pacers. If he remains out, Jonas Valanciunas, Jaxson Hayes and Willy Hernangomez are candidates to see increased playing time.
Dec 23, 2022
Remains out Friday
Nance (Achilles) will not suit up for Friday's game against the Thunder.
ANALYSIS
Nance will miss a third consecutive contest due to the injury. Willy Hernangomez and Jaxson Hayes should receive more run in his stead. Nance's next chance to play will come Monday against the Pacers.
Dec 23, 2022
Questionable against Thunder
Nance (Achilles) is questionable to play in Friday's game versus the Thunder.
ANALYSIS
Nance has missed the previous two games due to right Achilles soreness. If Nance isn't able to suit up Friday, his next opportunity to play is Monday's matchup with Indiana.
Dec 22, 2022
Officially out
Nance (Achilles) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Spurs.
ANALYSIS
Nance will miss his second straight contest while tending to right Achilles soreness. Expect Willy Hernangomez, Jonas Valanciunas and Jaxson Hayes to see more opportunities Thursday evening in Nance's absence.
Dec 21, 2022
Officially questionable Thursday
Nance (Achilles) is questionable to play in Thursday's game versus the Spurs.
ANALYSIS
Nance missed Monday's game and was a limited practice participant Wednesday due to right Achilles soreness. Willy Hernangomez, Jonas Valanciunas and Jaxson Hayes are all candidates to see extended minutes if he's unavailable Thursday.
Dec 21, 2022
Limited in practice, status TBD
Coach Willie Green said Nance (Achilles) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice, but the big man's availability for Thursday's matchup against the Spurs remains to be determined, Christian Clark of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance was sidelined for Monday's loss to Milwaukee due to soreness in his Achilles, but it appears the issue isn't too severe. However, the reserve big man could be sidelined for at least one more contest. Further clarity on the situation will likely be available when the Pelicans release their next injury report, which should occur sometime Wednesday afternoon.
Dec 19, 2022
Officially out
Nance (Achilles) has been ruled out for Monday's matchup against the Bucks.
ANALYSIS
Nance was initially deemed doubtful due to right Achilles soreness, so it's not surprising to see him ruled out. In his stead, Jaxson Hayes, Willy Hernangomez and Naji Marshall are candidates for increased roles behind Jonas Valanciunas.
Dec 18, 2022
Unlikely to play Monday
Nance is doubtful for Monday's game against the Bucks due to right Achilles soreness, Andrew Lopez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance was held scoreless across 22 minutes Saturday and appears to have suffered an Achilles injury as well. If he's sidelined, Jaxson Hayes, Willy Hernangomez and Naji Marshall will emerge as candidates for increased roles off the bench.
Dec 16, 2022
Teases double-double in loss
Nance notched 13 points (6-9 FG, 1-2 3Pt), nine rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal in 29 minutes during Thursday's 132-129 overtime loss to the Jazz.
ANALYSIS
Nance fell one rebound short of a double-double in the loss, putting together another balanced performance. Despite continuing to come off the bench, Nance is clearly the preferred option when the going gets tough. He is now the 62nd-ranked player on the season, scaling the heights of the top 15 over the past week. While there will be some ups and downs along the way, Nance's ability to contribute across multiple categories makes him a must-roster player in all formats.
Dec 12, 2022
Provides another huge line vs. Suns
Nance produced 15 points (6-7 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 2-2 FT), seven rebounds, four assists, four steals and two blocks across 34 minutes in Sunday's 129-124 overtime win over Phoenix.
ANALYSIS
Nance enjoyed a big weekend in back-to-back home matchups against the Suns, generating a combined 32 points, 16 rebounds, nine assists, eight steals and three blocks between those contests. His playing time was up Sunday in part because starting center Jonas Valanciunas was battling foul trouble, but Nance had already been cutting into Valanciunas' playing time even in games where fouls haven't been an issue. Nance should be a strong pickup in 12-team category leagues if he can consistently get around 25 minutes.
Dec 10, 2022
Solid all around in win
Nance finished Friday's 128-117 victory over the Suns with 17 points (7-10 FG, 3-4 FT), nine rebounds, five assists, one block and four steals across 24 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Nance made his only three field goal attempts in the first half for seven points, adding three assists and three rebounds to help New Orleans get out to a 55-52 lead at the break. He went 4-of-7 from the field for another 11 points in the second half while also grabbing six boards and three of his game-high four steals over the final two quarters. The Pelicans forward had gone three straight games without scoring in double figures prior to Friday's win over Phoenix and matched a season high with nine rebounds in the contest.
Nov 30, 2022
Set to play Wednesday
Nance (shoulder) indicated Wednesday he will play in the evening's game versus the Raptors, Erin Summers of Bally Sports New Orleans reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance will miss just one game because of shoulder soreness that surfaced following Friday's game versus the Grizzlies. He should resume his duties as a double-digit minutes contributor off the bench, averaging 9.4 points and 5.3 rebounds over 22.4 minutes per game.
Nov 29, 2022
Questionable Wednesday
Nance (shoulder) is questionable for Wednesday's game against Toronto, Andrew Lopez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The forward was unavailable for the Pelicans on Monday due to right shoulder soreness, but Nance may be able to return to the floor come Wednesday. Nance has averaged 9.4 points and 5.3 rebounds across 18 appearances.
Nov 28, 2022
Unavailable Monday
Nance (shoulder) is out for Monday's contest against Oklahoma City, Jim Eichenhofer of the Pelicans' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance will officially miss his second game of the season as he tends to a shoulder injury. The high-flying big's next chance to return to the court comes Wednesday against the Raptors.
Nov 27, 2022
Might not play Monday
Nance (shoulder) has been listed as questionable for Monday's game against the Thunder, Jim Eichenhofer of the Pelicans' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance has had three straight underwhelming performances, scoring six or fewer points and logging less than 20 minutes in each contest. If he ends up being available Monday, Nance is not expected to play a big role for New Orleans. He's averaging 9.0 points and 5.0 rebounds across 21.9 minutes per game over his last 10 appearances.
Nov 26, 2022
Struggles in Friday's loss
Nance produced four points (2-4 FG, 0-1 3Pt), one rebound and one block in 15 minutes during Friday's 132-111 loss to Memphis.
ANALYSIS
Nance managed just 15 minutes in the loss, delivering managers another subpar performance. After a string of productive games, things have gone south for Nance who has been unable to maintain 12-team value of late. He remains a backend hold for those who can ride the ups and downs. However, for anyone in need of immediate production, his upside is limited enough that moving on shouldn't come back to bite you later in the season.
Nov 18, 2022
Double-digit showing to lead bench
Nance produced 16 points (7-8 FG, 2-2 FT), eight rebounds, one assist, two blocks and three steals over 27 minutes during Friday's 117-109 loss to the Celtics.
ANALYSIS
Nance led the Pelicans second unit in scoring along with a team-high rebounding mark, notching his seventh game of the season with at least 10 points and five rebounds. Nance has scored in double figures eight times for New Orleans this year.
Nov 16, 2022
Strong showing off bench
Nance chipped in 19 points (8-10 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 2-2 FT), seven rebounds, two assists and two blocks across 31 minutes off the bench during Tuesday's 113-102 victory over the Grizzlies.
ANALYSIS
With Zion Williamson tending to a bruised foot, Trey Murphy moved into the starting lineup, but it was Nance who took the biggest advantage of the opportunity. The veteran forward has posted back-to-back impressive performances after hanging 22 points and nine boards on the Rockets on Saturday, and Nance will be an intriguing DFS option Wednesday against the Bulls if Zion is sidelined again.
Nov 13, 2022
Tallies season-high 22 points
Nance produced 22 points (8-10 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 4-5 FT) and nine rebounds over 28 minutes during Saturday's 119-106 victory over the Rockets.
ANALYSIS
Among Pelicans players, only Zion Williamson (26 points) outpaced Nance in scoring, and the latter also led the team with nine boards. The performance was quite a turnaround from Nance's previous game, when he went scoreless over 23 minutes. The scoring inconsistency has been a trademark for Nance this season -- he's scored 15 or more points three times but has been held to under four points on four occasions. He has the ability to contribute in other categories, but it's hard to roster a player in fantasy who is prone to such fluctuations.
Nov 11, 2022
Scoreless in return
Nance finished Thursday's 106-95 loss to the Trail Blazers with zero points (0-2 FG), six rebounds and one assist over 23 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Nance returned to action after missing the Pelicans' previous game with a knee injury, but he didn't do much in his 23 minutes. The veteran failed to score for the first time this season, though he didn't get many chances since he took only two shots. Nance did do decent work on the boards, but he's not providing much in terms of fantasy value lately -- since a nice 20-point, eight-rebound performance Nov. 4, he's scored a combined 11 points over his subsequent three contests.
Nov 10, 2022
Officially active Thursday
Nane (knee) will take the floor against the Trail Blazers on Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Nance has been dealing with a left knee hyperextension and was waiting to see how his knee would react during pre-game warmups before being officially designated as active. Nance will slide into his usual role as backup center for Thursday.
Nov 10, 2022
Game-time call Thursday
Nance (knee) is a game-time decision but Coach Willie Green is optimistic he will play Thursday against the Trail Blazers.
ANALYSIS
Nance's status will be determined based on how he feels pre-game, after missing the Pelicans most recent contest due to left knee soreness. His return could result in Naji Marshall receiving less run.
Nov 10, 2022
Listed questionable vs. Blazers
Nance (knee) is officially listed as questionable for Thursday night's game against Portland.
ANALYSIS
A hyperextended left knee kept Nance out of Wednesday night's win over the Bulls, but the injury is not considered overly serious, and there's hope that he'll be able to play in the second leg of the back-to-back. Prior to the injury, Nance had been playing well, averaging 13.5 points, 7.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.0 steals over his previous four contests (27.5 MPG).
Nov 9, 2022
Won't play Wednesday
Nance (knee) will miss Wednesday's game versus the Bulls, Rob Schaefer of NBC Sports Chicago reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance was listed as a question mark leading up to Wednesday's contest and was believed to be an option despite hyperextending his knee Monday. Unfortunately, he will need at least a night off and will instead look toward the second game of a back-to-back set Thursday against Portland for his next chance to dress.
Nov 8, 2022
Officially listed as questionable
Nance (knee) is questionable for Wednesdays game against the Bulls.
ANALYSIS
As expected, Nance avoided a major injury and has a chance to suit up Wednesday after leaving Monday's game against the Pacers with a knee injury. An MRI revealed no structural damage, and the big man is being listed with a left knee hyperextension. Nance is expected to receive treatment leading up to the game, but it wouldn't be surprising to see New Orleans err on the side of caution and hold him out for at least one contest to prevent further injury.
Nov 8, 2022
Could play Wednesday
Nance (knee) avoided a major injury during Monday's game against the Pacers and may be able to play as soon as Wednesday against the Bulls, Andrew Lopez of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
There was initial concern that Nance suffered an ACL or meniscus injury, but testing in the locker room during Monday's game ruled those out. More tests will presumably be done Tuesday and Wednesday with the hopes the big man can get back on the court against the Bulls.
Nov 7, 2022
Suffers knee injury vs. Pacers
Lance left Monday's game against Indiana due to injury and has been diagnosed with a left knee hyperextension, Andrew Lopez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance went to the locker room immediately after suffering the injury, per Lopez, and he failed to return to the game. The Pelicans have yet to disclose a timeline for Nance's return, but Naji Marshall and Trey Murphy could be in line for expanded roles if Nance is unable to go Wednesday in Chicago.
Nov 5, 2022
Packs stat sheet
Nance provided eight points (3-4 FG, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, two assists, one block and three steals in 27 minutes during Saturday's 124-121 overtime loss to the Hawks.
ANALYSIS
Nance wasn't overly impressive in the scoring department, but he contributed in nearly every other category. He's registered a block in three of his last five contests and has shot the basketball with efficiency to start the 2022-23 campaign.
Nov 3, 2022
Excels against former team
Nance notched 11 points (5-8 FG, 1-2 FT), eight rebounds, five assists, one block and four steals across 31 minutes during Wednesday's 120-117 overtime loss to the Lakers.
ANALYSIS
Nance appeared to find some extra motivation against the team with which he began his NBA career, as he registered an excellent all-around stat line that included a season-best four thefts. The forward posted a two-point, 1-for-5 dud against Phoenix on Oct. 28, but he's rebounded with two strong performances during which he's gone 12-for-17 from the field while averaging 13.0 points, 8.5 boards, 4.0 dimes and 2.5 steals. Nance's versatility gives him low-end fantasy relevance, but he's been inconsistent on a game-to-game basis.
Oct 30, 2022
Solid outing off bench Sunday
Nance supplied 15 points (7-9 FG, 1-1 3Pt), nine rebounds, three assists and one steal across 23 minutes during Sunday's 112-91 win over the Clippers.
ANALYSIS
Nance struggled badly against the Suns the last time out, but he delivered a bounce-back performance that could very well be categorized as his best outing of the campaign -- he only missed two shots from the field and posted his highest-scoring mark to date. Nance has now scored in double digits in three of his last four appearances.
Oct 14, 2022
Cleared for preseason finale
Nance is available for Friday's preseason finale against the Hawks, Jim Eichenhofer of the Pelicans' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance has been dealing with foot soreness that kept him out of Wednesday's exhibition, but he'll return to action during Friday's preseason finale. If healthy, the athletic big man could carve out a solid depth role behind Zion Williamson and Jonas Valanciunas, especially with Jaxson Hayes (elbow) expected to miss the start of the regular season.
Oct 13, 2022
Questionable for preseason finale
Nance (foot) is questionable to play in Friday's game against the Hawks.
ANALYSIS
Nance is one of four Pelicans players listed as questionable, joining Brandon Ingram (toe), Zion Williamson (ankle) and Dyson Daniels (ankle) with such status. If he is unable to go on Friday, Nance will next have the opportunity to see the floor in the Pelicans' regular season opener in Brooklyn on Oct. 19.
Oct 12, 2022
Remains sidelined Wednesday
Nance (foot) won't play in Wednesday's preseason game against the Heat, Andrew Lopez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance continues to deal with right foot soreness, so he won't appear in Wednesday's game as he works to get back to full health for the regular season. His next chance to get preseason reps in will be Friday against Atlanta if his foot feels better by then.
Oct 11, 2022
Deemed questionable for Wednesday
Nance is considered a question mark for Wednesday's preseason game against the Heat due to right foot soreness, Erin Summers of Bally Sports New Orleans reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance should play a healthy role in New Orleans' rotation when the regular season arrives, so the staff has little reason to rush him into action if his foot is still sore Wednesday. However, more clarity on his status should surface ahead of the opening tip.
Oct 1, 2022
Agrees to two-year extension
Nance agreed to a two-year, $21.6 million contract extension with the Pelicans on Saturday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance compiled 7.3 points and 4.3 boards over 20.2 minutes per game in his nine appearances with the Pelicans last season after a trade sent him to the club in February. He is now locked in with the team through 2024-25 and appears set for a key bench role again this season.
Apr 16, 2022
Double-doubles off bench
Nance finished Friday's 105-101 win over the Clippers with 14 points (7-8 FG, 0-2 FT), 16 rebounds, four assists, one block and one steal over 24 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Nance was efficient from the field en route to 14 points and grabbed a game-high 16 rebounds, notching his first double-double of the campaign. The Clippers came out of halftime sporting a small-ball lineup, and after the Pelicans coughed up their double-digit lead, they adjusted by essentially benching Jonas Valanciunas and running with Nance as the primary center. Nance's versatility countered the Clippers' small-ball lineup perfectly, but Valanciunas will likely return to his usual role during the first-round matchup against the Suns.
Apr 4, 2022
Puts up 10 and 8 in loss
Nance amassed 10 points (4-7 FG, 2-2 3Pt), eight rebounds, two assists and one block in 28 minutes during Sunday's 119-100 loss to the Clippers.
ANALYSIS
This was a rather unremarkable stat line for Nance, but he did see 28 minutes of action -- easily his most since coming back from the knee injury that sidelined him from early January through late-March. Nance could get some extended looks in the week ahead as the Pelicans prepare for the postseason, and he looks to have settled in as the first big man off the bench behind Jaxson Hayes and Jonas Valanciunas. Willy Hernangomez was a DNP-CD on Sunday for the third straight game.
Mar 30, 2022
Active Wednesday
Nance (knee) is active for Wednesday's game against Portland, Daniel Sallerson of the Pelicans Radio Network reports.
ANALYSIS
As expected, the forward will be available to play for the Pelicans on Wednesday after missing the team's previous matchup against the Lakers with a knee injury. Nance is currently averaging 6.9 points and 5.6 rebounds per game this season.
Mar 29, 2022
Probable at Portland
Nance (knee) is probable for Wednesday's game against the Trail Blazers.
ANALYSIS
Nance sat out on the second night of a back-to-back Sunday against the Lakers but should return Wednesday. He's played 18 and 19 minutes, respectively, in his two return games. It's possible his workload gets increased Wednesday.
Mar 27, 2022
Ruled out Sunday
Nance (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Lakers, Erin Summers of Bally Sports New Orleans reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance was doubtful ahead of Sunday's matchup, so his status doesn't come as a significant surprise. Naji Marshall and Herbert Jones should see additional run against the Lakers.
Mar 27, 2022
Unlikely to play Sunday
Nance (knee) is doubtful for Sunday's contest against the Lakers, Christian Clark of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance returned to action Thursday for the first time since Jan. 7 and has appeared in each of the Pelicans' last two contests. However, the big man will likely get the night off during the second half of New Orleans' back-to-back set Sunday. Jonas Valanciunas (foot) is questionable as well, so the Pelicans' frontcourt depth may be tested against the Lakers.
Mar 25, 2022
Limited run in return
Nance totaled nine points (3-6 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds and one block over 18 minutes during Thursday's 126-109 victory over the Bulls.
ANALYSIS
Playing his first game for the Pelicans and seeing his first action since Jan. 5, Nance was understandably given a fairly light workload in his return from knee surgery. The veteran big will likely see a similar role for the remainder of the season, but he could put some pressure on Jaxson Hayes for minutes at power forward if Nance rounds into form quickly.
Mar 24, 2022
Making Pels debut Thursday
Nance (knee) will make his Pelicans debut Thursday against the Bulls.
ANALYSIS
Nance will presumably be on a minute restriction for at least a few games. After Thursday, the Pelicans head into a Saturday/Sunday back-to-back set versus the Spurs and Lakers, respectively, so it's possible the big man could be held out of one of those contests. Fantasy managers should at least keep tabs on the situation overall, as Nance could be an interesting late-season add if he can eventually trend towards minutes in the upper-20s.
Mar 23, 2022
On track to make Pels debut vs. CHI
Nance (knee) is on track to make his Pelicans debut Thursday night against the Bulls, Andrew Lopez of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
It's been a while since we've received any updates on Nance, who underwent surgery on his right knee back on Feb. 10, just days after he was shipped to New Orleans from Portland. After ramping up in recent days, Nance is expected to play Thursday, but he'll likely be limited for at least a few games. After Thursday, the Pelicans head into a Saturday/Sunday back-to-back, so it's quite possible the big man could be held out of one of those contests.
Feb 10, 2022
Timeline estimated at six weeks
Nance will undergo surgery on his right knee Friday and is expected to need up to six weeks of recovery time, Andrew Lopez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Based on that timeline, Nance's knee surgery sounds like an arthroscopic procedure rather than a reconstructive one, therefore giving him a chance to make a late-season return. Given that Nance hasn't played since Jan. 5 and has a history of knee problems, there's a good chance he needs more than six weeks to regain conditioning and get back to full speed before making his debut for the Pelicans, who acquired him Tuesday as part of the blockbuster deal that also sent CJ McCollum to New Orleans. Once healthy, Nance should factor into the rotation at power forward or center, though the extent of his role could be determined by whether or not Zion Williamson (foot) is available to play by that point.
Feb 9, 2022
To undergo knee surgery
Nance (knee) is expected to undergo knee surgery later this week, Christian Clark of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance hasn't played since Jan. 5 and this knee surgery will likely keep him off the court for the near future. The 29-year-old will have to wait for his Pelicans debut until the final stretch of the campaign or even next season if the surgery does indeed shut him down for the year.
Feb 9, 2022
Out Thursday
Nance (knee) is out Thursday against the Heat.
ANALYSIS
Nance is set to be re-evaluated soon. He's been out since early January with right knee inflammation. The next time he plays, he'll be debuting for his new team, the Pelicans. After a ramp-up period, it seems possible Nance could match the numbers he was accumulating with the Blazers, where he averaged 6.9 points, 5.6 rebounds, 20 assists and 1.0 steals in 23.2 minutes.
Feb 8, 2022
Dealt to Pels with McCollum
Nance (knee) was traded to the Pelicans on Tuesday, along with CJ McCollum and Tony Snell, in exchange for Josh Hart, Tomas Satoransky, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Didi Louzada, a protected 2022 first-round pick and two future second-round picks, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
A knee injury has sidelined Nance for more than a month, but the Pelicans are hoping he can continue to progress and eventually provide value down the stretch as they push for a playoff -- or play-in tournament -- spot in the Western Conference. After joining the Blazers via free agency this past summer, Nance never truly settled into a consistent role, and his numbers dropped off across the board relative to last season in Cleveland. In 37 appearances for the Blazers, Nance averaged 6.9 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.0 steals and shot just 30.6 percent from three.
Feb 6, 2022
Re-evaluation on tap after setback
Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups said that Nance (knee) had a "little setback" earlier Sunday and will be re-evaluated, Jay Allen of NBC Sports Northwest Rip City Radio 620 reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance has missed 17 consecutive games due to right knee inflammation, but he appeared to be on the cusp of a return after Portland upgraded him to questionable before ruling him out ahead of Friday's 96-93 loss to the Thunder. He then proceeded to sit out the second half of the back-to-back set Saturday in a 137-108 loss to Milwaukee, with Billups providing an explanation behind Nance's continued absence when he met with the media Sunday. Based on Billups' comments, Nance can probably be ruled out for the Trail Blazers' upcoming Tuesday/Wednesday back-to-back set versus the Magic and Lakers, respectively, but how much time the 29-year-old misses beyond that will hinge on just how serious his setback was.
Feb 5, 2022
Out Saturday
Nance (knee) remains out Saturday against the Bucks.
ANALYSIS
Nance hasn't played since Jan. 5, but it seems like he's on the verge of making a return. His next chance to do so is Tuesday against the Magic.
Feb 4, 2022
Still out
Nance (knee) will not play in Friday's matchup with the Thunder, Jay Allen of NBC Sports Northwest Rip City Radio 620 reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance drew a questionable designation after missing the Trail Blazers' last 15 games. However, his return will have to wait at least one more game, with his next chance to suit up coming Friday versus the Thunder.
Feb 3, 2022
Questionable for Friday
Nance (knee) is listed as questionable for Friday's contest against the Thunder, Jay Allen of NBC Sports Northwest Rip City Radio 620 reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance suffered his knee injury early in January and it seems that the forward is finally nearing his return. After missing the Trail Blazers' last 15 games, Nance could see limited action behind Robert Covington if he is able to play. Portland plays Milwaukee on Saturday, so if Nance is unable to play Friday he could be available for the second end of the back-to-back.
Jan 23, 2022
Likely out until February
Nance (knee) is reportedly dealing with a bone bruise in his right knee and is likely to be sidelined until at least the early part of February, Danny Marang of BlazersEdge.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Citing Brian Windhorst of ESPN.com, Marang writes that Nance is expected to be sidelined for around a month with the knee injury he first sustained Jan. 5. With Portland having yet to provide a concrete update on where Nance stands in his recovery, fantasy managers shouldn't count on him playing at any point during the Trail Blazers' upcoming four-game week. Robert Covington should continue serving as Portland's starting power forward for the duration of Nance's absence.
Jan 22, 2022
Remains out Sunday
Nance (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Raptors, Casey Holdahl of the Trail Blazers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance will be sidelined for a ninth straight game due to right knee inflammation. His next chance to suit up will be Tuesday against the Timberwolves.
Jan 20, 2022
Will sit again Friday
Nance (knee) will not play Friday against the Celtics, Blazers studio host Jamie Hudson reports.
ANALYSIS
This will be eight straight absences for Nance, who continues to battle inflammation in his right knee. He hasn't appeared overly close to returning at any point in the last two weeks, but the team looks to be handling his status on a game-by-game basis.
Jan 18, 2022
Out again Wednesday
Nance (knee) has been ruled out for Wednesday's contest against the Heat, Casey Holdahl of the Trail Blazers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance will miss a seventh straight game due to right knee inflammation. His next chance to return is Friday against the Celtics.
Jan 16, 2022
Won't play Monday
Nance (knee) won't play Monday against the Magic, Casey Holdahl of the Trail Blazers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance will miss a sixth straight game due to right knee inflammation. His next chance to return is Wednesday against the Heat.
Jan 14, 2022
Out Saturday
Nance (knee) is out Saturday against the Wizards, Casey Holdahl of the Trail Blazers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance is out for a fifth straight game, and the Blazers remain extremely shorthanded overall. His next chance to return is Monday against the Magic.
Jan 12, 2022
Out again Thursday
Nance (knee) is out Thursday against the Nuggets, Jamie Hudson of KOIN 6 News Portland reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance will miss a fourth straight game with right knee inflammation. With Cody Zeller (knee) also out, the Blazers will be quite shorthanded in the frontcourt.
Jan 7, 2022
No structural damage in knee
Nance (knee) underwent an MRI that revealed no significant damage in his knee.
ANALYSIS
Nance injured the knee in the third quarter of Wednesday's game and this is great news as there was worry that the injury was much more serious. The 29-year-old is set to be reevaluated in one week.
Jan 6, 2022
Out Friday
Nance (knee) has been ruled out for Friday's game against Cleveland, Jamie Hudson of KOIN 6 News Portland reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance was forced out of Wednesday's game against the Heat due to a knee injury and that injury will keep him out Friday as well. Robert Covington and Nassir Little figure to see more opportunities in his absence.
Jan 6, 2022
Suffers knee injury
Nance won't return to Wednesday's game against the Heat due to a right knee injury, Jamie Hudson of KOIN 6 News Portland reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance sustained the injury during the second half and headed straight for the locker room. He posted nine points (1-4 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 6-6 FT), two rebounds, two assists and two steals in 27 minutes before his exit.
Jan 5, 2022
Available Wednesday
Nance (COVID-19 protocols) is available for Wednesday's game against the Heat, Jay Allen of NBC Sports Northwest Rip City Radio 620 reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance was originally labeled doubtful for Wednesday's contest due to the COVID-19 protocols, but he won't end up missing any time at this point. The 28-year-old has started the past 10 games and averaged 8.6 points, 7.7 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.3 steals in 30.3 minutes during that stretch.
Jan 4, 2022
Doubtful Wednesday
Nance is doubtful for Wednesday's game against the Heat due to health and safety protocols, Jason Quick of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance has yet to miss a game this season, but that streak will presumably end Wednesday. He's started the past 10 games with averages of 8.6 points, 7.7 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.3 steals. Assuming he's out, Robert Covington will likely slide into the starting five.
Dec 30, 2021
Stuffs stat sheet in loss
Nance ended with 14 points (6-13 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 1-2 FT), nine rebounds, nine assists and three steals over 32 minutes during Wednesday's 120-105 loss to the Jazz.
ANALYSIS
Nance made his eighth straight start, lining up at center with Jusuf Nurkic in COVID-19 protocols. The 6-foot-7 Nance held his own in the role, leading all Portland players with nine rebounds. He also led the team in assists (nine) and steals (three) to round out a fantastic final stat line. Nance's production has been frustrating from a fantasy perspective this season, but his stock could be on the rise with the move into the starting lineup. He isn't likely to evolve into a high-output scorer, so his value is tied to his ability to contribute across multiple categories.
Dec 22, 2021
Trail Blazers-Nets postponed
Nance and the Trail Blazers won't play the Nets on Thursday after the NBA postponed the game due to Brooklyn not having the league-required eight available players for that contest.
ANALYSIS
As a result of the postponement, fantasy managers in weekly leagues will get just one game out of Nance, who supplied 10 points (4-5 FG, 2-3 3Pt), six rebounds, four steals and two assists in 28 minutes during Tuesday's 111-97 loss to the Pelicans. Nance and the Trail Blazers will return to action Monday against the Mavericks.
Dec 20, 2021
Grabs 11 boards Sunday
Nance accumulated two points (1-3 FG, 0-1 3Pt), 11 rebounds, two assists, two blocks and two steals over 29 minutes during Sunday's 105-100 victory over Memphis.
ANALYSIS
Nance continues to run with the starter unit, turning in another serviceable performance. Since being promoted, Nance has been able to slowly increase his productivity, giving us reason to add him in most 12-team leagues. He is yet to fully embrace the new role but if you need some boards and defensive numbers, Nance could be the solution to your problems.
Dec 12, 2021
Moving into starting role
Nance is slated to start at power forward Sunday against the Timberwolves, Jason Quick of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
He'll join the lineup as a replacement for the slumping Robert Covington, who will be moved to the bench after averaging just 6.0 points per game while shooting 35.3 percent from the floor and 25 percent from downtown. Though Nance (28.6 percent mark form three-point range) doesn't provide much of a threat from downtown, he'll offer a similar defensive-minded presence as Covington and is capable of guarding multiple positions. Expect the move to the top unit to come with at least a slight upgrade in the 20.3 minutes per game Nance had been averaging heading into Sunday.
Nov 18, 2021
Posts another strong effort in win
Nance provided 16 points (6-9 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), nine rebounds, three assists, one block and three steals over 25 minutes during Wednesday's 112-107 victory over Chicago.
ANALYSIS
Nance was the only Portland reserve to score in double digits in the contest, and he ranked second among all players on the club with nine boards. The versatile veteran has struggled to find his niche through the first part of the season, but he has looked better over his past two games, averaging 15.5 points, 7.0 boards, 2.5 dimes and 1.5 steals over the pair of contests. Perhaps the best indication that he is trending up lies in his playing time -- Nance has logged at least 20 minutes in five straight games after failing to hit that mark in nine of his first 11 contests to begin the campaign.
Nov 16, 2021
Perfect from field in win
Nance finished Monday's 118-113 victory over Toronto with 15 points (7-7 FG, 1-1 3Pt), five rebounds and two assists across 23 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Nance hasn't been much of a factor offensively this season, as he came into Monday's contest averaging only 5.6 points on 4.4 field-goal attempts per game. However, he got into a groove against the Raptors and tied his season high with seven attempts from the field en route to a campaign-high 15 points. The low minutes and volume have thus far made Nance a non-factor in fantasy, so he'll likely remain on the waiver wire unless he's able to earn more court time.
Nov 11, 2021
Plays 27 minutes in loss
Nance closed with 13 points (6-7 FG, 1-2 3Pt), five rebounds and three assists in 27 minutes during Wednesday's 119-109 loss to the Suns.
ANALYSIS
Before managers go running to the waiver wire, we need to factor in that Jusuf Nurkic (eight points, six rebounds and three assists) played just 19 minutes due to early foul trouble. Nance is a proven per-minute beast but to this point, has been unable to carve out a meaningful role. If he were to inch his playing time up over 20 minutes per night, he would be a name to consider picking up. As of right now, he is only a positive contributor in deeper fantasy formats.
Oct 30, 2021
Grabs 10 boards in Friday's win
Nance produced three points (1-2 FG, 1-2 FT), 10 rebounds and two assists in 16 minutes during Friday's 111-92 victory over the Clippers.
ANALYSIS
Nance is yet to find his footing in Portland and despite being an every night part of the rotation, his role is certainly not what we had envisaged. He has a proven ability to be a standard league contributor but as of right now, the playing time is simply not sufficient. He can be left for those in deeper formats.
Aug 27, 2021
Shipped to Portland
Nance was sent to Portland on Friday as part of a three-team sign-and-trade that brings Lauri Markkanen to Cleveland and Derrick Jones to Chicago, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Markkanen is the biggest name on the move, as he'll join the Cavaliers and sign a four-year, $67 million contract. Meanwhile, Nance will move from a crowded depth chart to what should be a much more fantasy-friendly situation with the Trail Blazers. Jusuf Nurkic and Robert Covington project to start at center and power forward, respectively, but Nance will likely be in line to serve as the first big man off the bench. The former Wyoming standout has always been a strong per-minute fantasy player, but his role was typically inconsistent with the Cavs, though he was able to see more minutes over the last two seasons with Kevin Love missing extensive time due to injury. Fantasy-wise, Nance isn't elite in any one area, but he offers a well-rounded profile with few weaknesses. He's averaged at least 1.0 steal per game in five straight seasons, including a career-high 1.7 per game in 2020-21.
May 4, 2021
Shut down for season
Nance (thumb) was officially ruled out for the remainder of the season after the Cavaliers signed Anderson Varejao to a 10-day contract Tuesday, Chris Fedor of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
Since Varejao is joining the roster on a hardship exception, the Cavaliers would have to rule out four players for the remainder of the season to satisfy the league's conditions and open up an extra spot. Cleveland had already shut down Taurean Prince (ankle) and Dylan Windler (knee), and now Nance and Matthew Dellavedova (neck) will also be sidelined for the final two weeks of the season. Nance, who is recovering from a fractured right thumb, should be back to full health well in advance of the 2021-22 season.
Apr 27, 2021
Likely done for season
The Cavaliers are expected to shut Nance down for the remainder of the season after he fractured his right thumb in Sunday's 119-110 loss to the Wizards, ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
When the Cavaliers announced Nance's injury, the team didn't formally rule the forward out beyond Monday's loss to the Raptors, instead relaying that he would be re-evaluated on a daily basis while undergoing a series of treatment and rehabilitation. This latest report offers a more definitive plan for Nance, who will likely face a multi-week recovery even if he elects to forgo surgery. Given that the 21-40 Cavaliers are a long shot to secure a spot in the play-in tournament for the final two seed positions in the Eastern Conference postseason, there's little incentive to have Nance play through the injury over the final three weeks of the regular season. Assuming that plan doesn't change, Nance will finish his sixth NBA campaign with averages of 9.3 points (on 47.1 percent shooting from the field), 6.7 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.7 steals and 1.2 three-pointers in 31.2 minutes per game over 35 appearances.
Apr 26, 2021
Diagnosed with fractured thumb
Nance sustained a fractured right thumb during Sunday night's loss to Washington and will not play Monday against Toronto.
ANALYSIS
In an official release, the Cavs said Nance will "undergo a series of treatment and rehabilitation" while noting that he will be re-evaluated on a daily basis. The implication is that Nance doesn't have a firm timetable, but given the severity of the injury, it's likely that he'll miss several games down the stretch. The reserve big man averaged 5.8 points, 5.0 boards and 1.5 steals over his last six games since returning from an illness.
Apr 22, 2021
Scores 10 points in return
Nance had 10 points (4-7 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 0-2 FT), four rebounds, one assist and one steal in 22 minutes during Wednesday's 121-105 victory over the Bulls.
ANALYSIS
Nance was back on the court for the Cavaliers after missing the previous game due to personal reasons. He played only 22 minutes in the victory, although garbage time may have been a factor here. He is not yet back to full speed after a lengthy layoff due to illness, making him a risky addition in competitive leagues. That said, his upside in steals alone makes him worth a look, especially for streaming purposes.
Apr 20, 2021
Not on injury report
Nance (personal) is not listed on the injury report ahead of Wednesday's game against the Bulls.
ANALYSIS
A personal matter kept Nance out of Monday's loss in Detroit, but his absence from the report implies that he's rejoined the team and will be available Wednesday night. In three games since returning from an illness that cost him seven contests, Nance averaged only 5.0 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.3 steals in 23.7 minutes.
Apr 18, 2021
Listed out Monday
Nance (personal) is listed as out for Monday's game against Detroit.
ANALYSIS
A personal matter will keep Nance out as the Cavs finish up a quick, two-game road trip. Dean Wade and Isaiah Hartenstein could pick up increased minutes in Nance's absence.
Apr 14, 2021
Steals four in return
Nance posted five points (1-7 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 3-4 FT), four steals, two rebounds and one assist in 19 minutes during Wednesday's win over the Hornets.
ANALYSIS
The 28-year-old returned to the court Wednesday after missing the previous eight games due to an illness. Nance was averaging 11.6 points, 7.6 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.2 three-pointers over his previous 10 games before going down with an illness. The sixth-year forward should provide solid production in rebounds, steals and field-goal percentage the rest of the way, though his scoring may be sporadic now that Kevin Love is healthy for the Cavaliers.
Apr 13, 2021
Returning to action Wednesday
Nance (illness) is expected to be available Wednesday against the Hornets, Chris Fedor of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
The 28-year-old hasn't seen the court since March 27 due to an illness, and he's poised to retake the court Wednesday at Charlotte. Nance started the previous eight games before the absence, but he should work off the bench now that Kevin Love is healthy for the Cavaliers.
Apr 13, 2021
Practices Tuesday
Nance (illness) went through practice Tuesday but remains questionable for Wednesday's game in Charlotte, Marla Ridenour of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance had been battling an illness for the better part of the last two weeks, but his return to practice is a major step in the right direction. Coach JB Bickerstaff stopped short of clearing Nance to play Wednesday, however, so the Cavs will likely wait to see how his body feels following Tuesday's session. With Kevin Love back in action, Nance figures to primarily work off the bench once he's cleared to play.
Apr 10, 2021
Could play Wednesday
Nance (illness) has returned to basketball-related activities and could play Wednesday against the Hornets, Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com reprots.
ANALYSIS
Nance has been dealing with a tough illness that's caused rapid weight loss, but he's on the verge of a return. Once he's back, he could join the starting five. However, that could also depend on the status of Jarrett Allen (concussion).
Apr 9, 2021
Still out Saturday
Nance (illness) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against Toronto.
ANALYSIS
Nance has been dealing with a non-COVID-19 illness that has reportedly caused him to sustain "rapid weight loss" over the last week. With Jarrett Allen (concussion) also unavailable Saturday, Kevin Love and Dean Wade should start for Cleveland against the Raptors.
Apr 7, 2021
Ruled out Thursday
Nance (illness) will not play in Thursday's game against the Thunder, Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance did not make the trip to Oklahoma City with the team, as he remains home while battling an undisclosed, non-COVID-19 illness. Fedor reports that Nance has sustained "rapid weight loss" over the last week, but the Cavs have indicated that he's moving in the right direction. Given the circumstances, it wouldn't be a surprise if Nance ends up missing a few more games while working his way back into basketball shape.
Apr 7, 2021
Sits out another practice
Nance (illness) did not participate in Wednesday's practice, Evan Dammarell of SB Nation reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance's illness is not COVID-19-related, but he's already missed the last four games and appears on course to miss a fifth Thursday at Oklahoma City. With Jarrett Allen's (concussion) status also in doubt, the Cavs will likely continue to start Kevin Love and Dean Wade up front.
Apr 5, 2021
Out yet again Monday
Nance (illness) will not play Monday against San Antonio.
ANALYSIS
Nance is not on the COVID-19 list, but he's apparently battling a rather severe illness, as this will be his fourth straight absence. The Cavs will also be without Jarrett Allen (concussion), so expect Dean Wade and Kevin Love to do much of the heavy lifting up front.
Apr 2, 2021
Out vs. Heat
Nance (illness) is out for Saturday's game against the Heat, Chris Fedor of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance will be sidelined for a third straight game as he recovers from an illness. Kevin Love and Dean Wade should be expected to start in the frontcourt again.
Mar 31, 2021
Will miss another game
Nance (illness) will not play in Thursday's game against Philadelphia.
ANALYSIS
An illness kept Nance out of practice Wednesday, and it will now cause him to miss a second consecutive game. There's a chance the Cavs could get Kevin Love (calf) back Thursday, but even if that's the case, he'd likely face a strict minutes limit. Expect Isaiah Hartenstein and Dean Wade to once again handle a large portion of the minutes up front.
Mar 31, 2021
Misses Wednesday's practice
Nance (illness) did not participate in Wednesday's practice, Tom Withers of the Associated Press reports.
ANALYSIS
An illness kept Nance out of Monday's loss to Utah, and it looks like he's at risk of missing a second straight contest Thursday against the Sixers. Jarrett Allen (concussion) also sat out Wednesday, so the Cavs may end up starting Isaiah Hartenstein and Dean Wade for a second straight game.
Mar 29, 2021
Ruled out Monday
Nance (illness) won't play Monday against the Jazz, Chris Fedor of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance is dealing with an illness that is unrelated to COVID-19 and will be unable to take the court against Utah. Lamar Stevens, Isaiah Hartenstein and Dylan Windler could see increased run in Nance's absence.
Mar 29, 2021
Questionable for Monday
Nance is questionable for Monday's game against the Jazz due to an illness.
ANALYSIS
The 28-year-old wasn't initially listed on Monday's injury report, but he's now questionable due to the unspecified ailment. Nance has averaged 12.4 points, 9.0 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.6 steals in 30.4 minutes over the past five games, so it would be a significant loss for Cleveland if he's sidelined.
Mar 28, 2021
Posts another strong stat line
Nance finished Saturday's loss to the Kings with 17 points (6-12 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 3-6 FT), nine rebounds, five assists and two steals across 34 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Nance fell just short of his third straight double-double, but he continued his stretch of strong all-around play and has tallied exactly 17 points in each of his past two contests. Since returning from a 12-game absence March 3, the 28-year-old has posted per-game averages of 11.6 points, 7.6 boards, 3.0 dimes and 1.5 steals.
Mar 27, 2021
Stars against former squad
Nance tallied 17 points (7-13 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 10 rebounds, five assists and a blocked shot across 27 minutes in Friday's loss to the Lakers.
ANALYSIS
Playing against the team that drafted him in 2015, Nance led Cleveland in scoring in the contest and registered his second straight double-double. The sixth-year forward has been up and down since returning from a fractured finger March 12, compiling three double-doubles as well as a pair of four-point duds. He appears to be trending upward, however, and is worth rostering in most fantasy formats.
Mar 25, 2021
Delivers double-double in win
Nance had 14 points (5-11 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 14 rebounds, five assists, two steals and one block in 34 minutes during Wednesday's 103-94 win at Chicago.
ANALYSIS
It's the fifth double-double of the season for the 28-year-old, who bounced back after putting up only four points and five rebounds Monday against Sacramento. Nance should continue to start at power forward while Kevin Love (calf) remains sidelined.
Mar 19, 2021
Steals three in loss
Nance finished with seven points (3-8 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 1-2 FT), four rebounds, three steals and one assist in 33 minutes during Friday's loss to the Spurs.
ANALYSIS
The 28-year-old has now started four out of five games since returning from a 12-game absence due to surgery on a broken finger. Since returning to the lineup, Nance is averaging 10.8 points, 6.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.0 three-pointers while shooting 55 percent from the field over his last five games. There are many teams around the NBA interested in acquiring the sixth-year forward before the trade deadline on Mar. 28, but as long as he is a Cavalier, he will continue to produce consistent three-pointers and steals along with low-end points and rebounds.
Mar 18, 2021
Puts up 18 and 10
Nance had 18 points (7-8 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 10 rebounds, four assists, two steals and a block in Wednesday's win over Boston.
ANALYSIS
Coming off of a strong effort against Miami on Tuesday, Nance followed up with another gem, notching his first double-double since Jan. 22 in 37 minutes of action. Injuries derailed Nance's encouraging start to the season, but he could be looking at big minutes going forward if Kevin Love continues to struggle to move past his calf injury.
Mar 17, 2021
Productive in return to starting five
Nance accumulated 14 points (5-10 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 3-4 FT), nine rebounds, four assists, one steal and one block in 38 minutes during Tuesday's 113-98 loss to the Heat.
ANALYSIS
With Kevin Love (calf) sitting out once again, Nance was afforded a spot in the starting five and he looked much more like the player we saw earlier in the season. There has been no indication as to whether Love will have an extended layoff but nonetheless, Nance should now be added in all formats despite there being a small element of uncertainty.
Mar 16, 2021
Back in starting five
Nance will start Tuesday's game against the Heat.
ANALYSIS
With Kevin Love (calf) out again after returning for two games and playing 12 minutes, Nance will re-join the starting five. Across Nance's past five starts, he has averaged 4.2 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 25.0 minutes.
Mar 14, 2021
Limited production in loss
Nance finished with four points (2-7 FG, 0-3 3Pt), four rebounds, one assist and one steal in Sunday's loss to Atlanta.
ANALYSIS
Nance moved to the bench after starting Friday's game, and while his role was relatively unimpacted, he wasn't able to do much with his 26 minutes. Keep an eye on the status of Kevin Love, who departed Sunday's game early in the first quarter due to discomfort in his troublesome calf. If Love misses more time -- a distinct possibility -- Nance could pick up increased value as Cleveland enters a four-game week.
Mar 14, 2021
Moving to bench Sunday
Nance will come off the bench for Sunday's game against the Hawks, Kelsey Russo of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance made his return from injury Friday night in New Orleans and immediately entered the starting five at small forward with Darius Garland (groin) injured. Garland will return to action Sunday, so he'll start alongside Collin Sexton in the backcourt, while Isaac Okoro and Kevin Love join Jarrett Allen in the frontcourt. Nance finished Friday's game with 11 points, four rebounds, one assist and one block in 28 minutes.
Mar 13, 2021
Scores 11 in return
Nance tallied 11 points (4-8 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 1-2 FT), four rebounds, one assist and one block in 28 minutes during Friday's loss to the Pelicans.
ANALYSIS
Nance (finger) made his return to the court after missing the previous 12 games after having surgery on his left finger. He showed no signs of rust, scoring double-digit points for the 11th time this season. Nance was averaging 9.3 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.9 steals, and 1.3 three-pointers in 19 games before going down with injury, and he should produce similar numbers the rest of the way.
Mar 12, 2021
In starting lineup
Nance will start at small forward in Friday's game against the Pelicans, Chris Fedor of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
The Cavs have opted to go especially big with the return of Kevin Love, as Nance will start alongside both Love and Jarrett Allen. It remains to be seen if this will be Cleveland's strategy going forward or if they are simply tinkering around with options.
Mar 11, 2021
Set to return Friday
Nance (finger) will play Friday versus New Orleans, Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance is set to make his first return to action since suffering a fractured finger Feb. 6, barring any setbacks. He averaged 9.3 points, 6.8 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.9 steals in 33.4 minutes per game across 19 appearances before getting hurt. When Kevin Love (ankle) returns, however, Nance likely won't see so much playing time.
Mar 11, 2021
Expected back vs. Pelicans
Nance (finger) is likely to play Friday against the Pelicans, Evan Dammarell of FearTheSword.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance has been sidelined since Feb. 6, when he exited the Cavs' blowout loss to the Bucks with a fractured finger on his left hand. Before getting hurt, Nance started in 18 of his 19 appearances and averaged 9.3 points, 6.8 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.9 steals in 33.4 minutes per game. His playing time and production could take a hit when Kevin Love (calf) returns. But until then, Nance might be able to pick up right where he left off.
Mar 6, 2021
Expected back after break
The Cavaliers anticipate that Nance (finger) will be ready to play in their first game after the All-Star break March 12 at New Orleans, Chris Fedor of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance has been sidelined since Feb. 6, when he exited the Cavs' blowout loss to the Bucks with what was later diagnosed as a fractured finger on his left hand. He underwent surgery two days later and has made rapid progress in his recovery, shedding the cast on his injured hand just over a week ago. He's since been cleared to take part in shooting workouts, and he plans to use the All-Star break to get his conditioning back in order and work his way into game shape following a month-long layoff. Assuming his surgically-repaired hand presents no issues when the Cavaliers reconvene for full-contact practice next week, Nance should be ready to rejoin the lineup against the Pelicans without any restrictions. Before getting hurt, Nance started in 18 of his 19 appearances and averaged 9.3 points, 6.8 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.9 steals and 1.3 three-pointers in 33.4 minutes per game, but his playing time and production could take a hit in the second half with Kevin Love (calf) also believed to be close to a return fr

Sheds cast, does shooting workout
Nance (finger) is no longer in a cast and was doing a pregame shooting workout alongside Kevin Love (calf) before Wednesday game against the Rockets, Chris Fedor of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance has been sidelined since Feb. 8 while recovering from surgery on a broken finger. Being able to go through a shooting workout is a good sign for an on-time recovery. Nance is expected to return in late March.
Feb 8, 2021
Undergoes successful surgery
Nance (finger) underwent successful surgery Monday and is expected to miss the next six weeks.
ANALYSIS
Nance was initially given a timetable of 4-to-6 weeks following surgery, but the Cavs announced after the procedure that the forward would remain out for approximately six weeks. Cleveland also noted that Nance "will undergo a period of rest and rehab," as expected.
Feb 7, 2021
Set for surgery Monday
Nance is expected to undergo surgery Monday to address the fractured finger on his left hand, Chris Fedor of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
As Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported earlier Sunday, Nance is expected to miss 4-to-6 weeks after sustaining the injury in Saturday's loss to the Bucks. The Cavaliers are also likely to remain without Kevin Love (calf) for the team's five-game road trip that begins Monday in Phoenix, leaving Taurean Prince and Cedi Osman in line to absorb most of the available minutes at power forward.
Feb 7, 2021
Headed for month-long absence
Nance was diagnosed with a fractured finger on his left hand following Saturday's 124-99 loss to the Bucks, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. He'll likely need surgery to address the injury, and he's expected to miss 4-to-6 weeks.
ANALYSIS
Nance returned to the starting lineup Saturday after missing the previous three games with a sprained right wrist, but he ended up hurting his opposite arm in the blowout loss to Milwaukee. He played 23 minutes in the loss, finishing with four points (2-3 FG, 0-1 3Pt), five rebounds and one assists. Based on the timeline provided by Wojnarowski, Nance looks like he'll be sidelined through the All-Star break, and since Kevin Love (calf) is on track to return before him, Nance may have to settle for a reserve role once he's cleared to play again. Love is expected to remain sidelined through the Cavs' five-game road trip that begins Monday, however, so look for Taurean Prince and Cedi Osman to handle nearly all the minutes at power forward in the short term.
Feb 6, 2021
Back in action Saturday
Nance (wrist) is available for Saturday's game versus Milwaukee, Chris Fedor of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
The 28-year-old sat out the last three games with a sprained right wrist, but he'll return to the court Saturday. Nance is likely to rejoin the starting lineup, which would push Taurean Prince back to the bench.
Feb 6, 2021
Considered questionable
Nance (wrist) is listed as questionable for Saturday's matchup with the Bucks, Chris Fedor of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
While he is listed as questionable, the team is apparently optimistic about Nance's chances of returning. He has missed the team's last three games due to a sprained list. Should he ultimately get the green light, look for Taurean Prince to slide back to a reserve role.
Feb 4, 2021
Ruled out Friday
Nance (wrist) won't play Friday against the Bucks.
ANALYSIS
Nance did some shooting Thursday, but he missed practice due to his sprained wrist. He'll miss a third consecutive game Friday, while Taurean Prince could see an increased role once again.
Feb 4, 2021
Shoots but doesn't practice
Nance (wrist) did some shooting Thursday but did not practice, Tom Withers of the Associated Press reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance has missed two straight games due to a sprained wrist. Given how little he did during Thursday, it would be a surprise if he was available Friday against the Bucks.
Feb 2, 2021
Won't play Wednesday
Nance (wrist) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Clippers.
ANALYSIS
The 28-year-old will be sidelined for the second consecutive contest due to a sprained right wrist. Taurean Prince is poised to receive another start in Nance's absence for Cleveland.
Feb 1, 2021
Listed as out Monday
Nance (wrist) is listed as out for Monday's contest against the Timberwolves, Kelsey Russo of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance missed a pair of games last week with a sprained right wrist, but he played in each of the last two contests, most recently logging 32 minutes in Sunday's loss to the Timberwolves. It looks like he may have aggravated the injury over the weekend, which could explain why Nance shot a combined 2-of-12 from the field over the last two games.
Jan 31, 2021
Grabs 16 boards Sunday
Nance tallied two points (1-3 FG), 16 rebounds and four assists in a loss to Minnesota on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Though he took only three shots in his 32 minutes, Nance found a way to contribute by collecting a season-high 16 boards and handing out four assists. The sixth-year forward has scored exactly two points in each of his last three games to bring his season scoring average down to 9.6 points per contest, but he remains a hold in most fantasy leagues due to his ability to make an impact in multiple areas. On the season, he is averaging 6.9 boards, 3.3 assists and 0.6 blocks while ranking second in the league with 2.1 steals per game.
Jan 29, 2021
Slated to start Friday
Nance (wrist) is starting Friday against the Knicks, Chris Fedor of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance was questionable heading into Friday's contest due to a sprained right wrist, but the Cavaliers are expecting him to return against the Knicks. It's not yet clear whether he could face any limitations following his two-game absence.
Jan 28, 2021
Questionable Friday
Nance (wrist) is questionable for Friday's game against the Knicks.
ANALYSIS
Nance has missed the past two games due to a sprained right wrist, though he could return as soon as Friday. If he sits out again, Dylan Winder and Taurean Prince should be in line for extra run.
Jan 27, 2021
Out vs. Pistons
Nance (wrist) is out Wednesday against the Pistons, Austin Carr of Fox Sports Ohio reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance will miss a second straight game with a sprained right wrist. Cedi Osman and Taurean Prince remain candidates to see extra run, and Dylan Windler could get in on the action as well.
Jan 27, 2021
Questionable for Wednesday
The Cavaliers list Nance (wrist) as questionable for Wednesday's game against the Pistons, Tom Withers of the Associated Press reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance's sprained right wrist sidelined him for Monday's 115-108 loss to the Lakers, marking his first absence of the season. Withers notes that Nance was spotted on the Cleveland bench Monday with a brace on the wrist, so he could be closer to doubtful than questionable for Wednesday's contest. In the event Nance sits out a second straight game, Taurean Prince would likely pick up another start.
Jan 25, 2021
Listed out with sprained wrist
Nance is listed as out for Monday's game against the Lakers due to a sprained right wrist.
ANALYSIS
Nance appeared to tweak the wrist during Sunday's blowout loss to Boston, and it will now cost him at least one contest as the Cavs head into a four-game week. Nance's absence could lead to more minutes for Jarrett Allen, Taurean Prince, Andre Drummond or JaVale McGee.
Jan 23, 2021
Records double-double
Nance recorded 15 points (7-11 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 1-1 FT), 10 rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal in a 125-113 win Friday versus Brooklyn.
ANALYSIS
It was Nance's first double-double since his season opener on Dec. 23. With Kevin Love (calf) out for nearly a month, Nance stepped in to average 11.9 points and 6.4 rebounds across 14 starts. Nance's value is expected to take a hit once his injury-prone teammate returns.
Jan 20, 2021
Stuffs stat sheet Wednesday
Nance registered 15 points (5-10 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 2-4 FT), eight rebounds, five assists and four steals across 45 minutes in Wednesday's double-overtime win over the Nets.
ANALYSIS
Nance was one of seven Cleveland players that scored in double digits here, but he made his presence felt on both ends of the court -- he delivered his sixth double-digit scoring performance over his last seven games while also tying his season-best mark in steals. Nance is averaging 13.3 points per game during that aforementioned seven-game stretch.
Jan 9, 2021
Fills stat sheet Saturday
Nance posted 17 points (6-11 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds, two assists, four steals and a block across 40 minutes in Saturday's 100-90 loss against the Bucks.
ANALYSIS
Nance has started all but one game this season, and he has benefited from the fact that Kevin Love (calf) and has dealt with injury woes during the first few weeks of the campaign. Nance has scored in double digits in all but three of his starts, though, and he has been doing enough to remain valuable in category-based leagues -- that trend will continue as long as he is able to remain in the starting lineup.
Jan 8, 2021
Perfect from field in win
Nance tallied 18 points (7-7 FG, 4-4 3 Pt), four assists, three rebounds and three steals in 35 minutes during Thursday's 94-90 win over Memphis.
ANALYSIS
Nance couldn't miss and put up a new season high in scoring as a result. His previous best had been 13 points. The Wyoming product is now averaging 9.6 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game this year.
Jan 6, 2021
Contributes 10 points in loss
Nance scored 10 points (4-7 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 1-6 FT) to go with three rebounds, one assist and one steal across 33 minutes in a 105-94 loss to Orlando on Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Nance seems to be more comfortable as he nears the rim, shooting 3-for-4 on field goals inside the paint, but hasn't stopped the forward from attempting the most three-point tries per game of his career. Since moving into a starting role in Cleveland this season, the 28-year-old is averaging his most assists of his career at 4.9 per outing, surpassing his 2018 mark of 3.2 assists per contest. Nance will need to take care of the ball as he's turning it over at the highest clip of his career, but isn't a concern yet at just 1.6 turnovers per game.
Jan 2, 2021
Grabs 11 rebounds
Nance tallied nine points (3-10 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 11 rebounds, six assists and three steals across 37 minutes in Saturday's 96-91 win over the Hawks.
ANALYSIS
Nance filled up some ancillary categories despite a frigid night from the floor. He connected on only 30 percent of his shots but did an admirable job of protecting the rim. The versatile forward will enjoy an enhanced role while Kevin Love (calf) recovers from injury.
Dec 29, 2020
Plays 43 minutes
Nance scored nine points (4-11 FG, 1-6 3PT) to go along with six rebounds, three assists, four steals and two blocks across 32 minutes in Tuesday's loss to the Knicks.
ANALYSIS
Nance had topped 30 minutes in two of his first three games this season, though that number jumped to a massive 43 minutes Tuesday. He didn't do all that much with the extra run however, as as he shot poorly away from the rim to cap his scoring upside. Defensively, Nance has been strong to start the season, as he now has multiple steals in every contest and has racked up four blocks in as many games.
Dec 27, 2020
Starting at small forward
Nance will start Sunday's game against the Sixers in place of Isaac Okoro (foot).
ANALYSIS
The Cavs will go with a massive front line Sunday, as Kevin Love (calf) returns to start alongside Nance and Andre Drummond. Nance had a monster game starting in Love's place on opening night, but he came back down to earth Saturday in Detroit, finishing scoreless with seven rebounds and two steals in 24 minutes off the bench.
Dec 26, 2020
Shifts to bench Saturday
Nance will come off the bench Saturday against the Pistons, Rod Beard of The Detroit News reports.
ANALYSIS
The 27-year-old started the season opener and put up 13 points (5-9 FG, 1-1 3PT, 2-2 FT), 13 rebounds, eight assists, three steals and two blocks, but he'll move to the bench with Kevin Love (calf) making his season debut. Love will be on an unspecified minutes restriction, so Nance should still see plenty of opportunities off the bench.
Dec 24, 2020
Nears triple-double in win
Nance had 13 points (5-9 FG, 1-1 3PT, 2-2 FT), 13 rebounds, eight assists, three steals and two blocks in Wednesday's win over the Hornets.
ANALYSIS
Starting in place of the injured Kevin Love (calf), Nance had one of the better all-around games of his entire career, missing a triple-double by just two assists. He'll likely sink back to a slightly reduced role off the bench once Love returns, but this was an extremely encouraging debut for the sixth-year big man.
Dec 23, 2020
Starting in Love's spot
Nance will start at power forward for Wednesday's season opener against the Hornets, Chris Fedor of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
With Kevin Love (toe) sidelined, Nance will draw the start. Across 10 starts last season, Nance averaged 14.6 points, 10.4 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.5 steals and 0.7 blocks in 35.5 minutes.
Dec 22, 2020
Could start in Love's place
If the Cavs are without Kevin Love (calf) for Wednesday's opener against the Hornets, Nance would start in his place, Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com reports.
ANALYSIS
While Love has not been ruled out, the Cavs are preparing as though he will not be available, per head coach J.B. Bickerstaff. So it looks as though Nance will be in line to start to next to Andre Drummond, making him a rather appealing play in DFS contests. "It's best to just move Larry in that spot and increase his minutes and workload," Bickerstaff said Tuesday. "Obviously, if Kevin is out, we will have to play some small ball. But I think to start games and the majority of the minutes, I think it's a good thing to just move Larry because he's got a similar skill set, his ability to pass the ball and all those things. And he's a good player."
Dec 15, 2020
Won't travel for games
Nance (jaw) won't travel with the team for Wednesday and Friday's preseason games against the Knicks, Eric Woodyard of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance took a blow to the face during Monday's preseason game against the Pacers, and while the extent of the injury isn't known, he'll miss the remaining preseason contests for Cleveland. The 27-year-old power forward could make his return for the regular season opener Dec. 23 against Charlotte.
Dec 14, 2020
Takes shot to jaw
Nance has been ruled out for the second half of Monday's game against the Pacers due to a jaw injury, Chris Fedor of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance took a shot to the face, and while the extent of the injury is not yet known, the Cavs will exercise caution by holding him out.
Dec 14, 2020
Starting Monday's contest
Nance is in the starting lineup for Monday's preseason game against the Pacers, Spencer Davies of BasketballInsiders.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The 27-year-old played 17 minutes off the bench and had seven points (3-5 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 1-3 FT), 10 rebounds, two assists and one block, but he'll join the starting five for the second exhibition contest. Nance should see some more minutes Monday with Kevin Love (Achilles) and Cedi Osman (ankle) unavailable.
Mar 10, 2020
Has solid line in loss to Bulls
Nance finished with 16 points (6-6 FG, 2-2 3Pt, 2-4 FT), six assists, four rebounds, two steals and one block in 32 minutes during Tuesday's loss to the Bulls.
ANALYSIS
Tristan Thompson was out in this one after being poked in the eye in their last game, clearing the way for Nance to see a little extra run. He's played well lately, putting up per-game stats of 11.7 points, 8.0 boards, 3.4 assists, 1.7 steals and 1.1 triples, while shooting 49.3 percent from the field over the last two weeks of play. Those numbers are good for a spot inside the top 70 of nine-category leagues. The Cavaliers have struggled to maintain a fully healthy frontcourt since acquiring Andre Drummond (calf), and Nance has clearly benefited from that. Now that Drummond is back on the court, Thompson's eventual return will make this situaion murkier.
Mar 9, 2020
Double-doubles in huge minutes
Nance provided 19 points (7-13 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT) and 10 rebounds in 43 minutes Sunday in the Cavaliers' 132-129 win over the Spurs.
ANALYSIS
The Cavaliers welcomed back one key piece of their frontcourt back from injury in Andre Drummond (calf), but Tristan Thompson's (eye) first-half exit coupled with the extra period opened up plenty of run for Nance as the team's third big man. Nance's path to a consistent 25-minute role may be more of a challenge if Drummond, Thompson and Kevin Love are all available for the Cavs' next game Tuesday in Chicago, but the 27-year-old still looks worthy of holding until his role begins to stabilize a bit. Nance may be helped if the Cavs are willing to deploy him more frequently at small forward, something that new coach J.B. Bickerstaff has seemingly been more receptive to than former bench boss John Beilein.
Mar 7, 2020
Back to bench as Thompson returns
Nance will come off the bench Saturday against the Nuggets, Spencer Davies of BasketballInsiders.com reports.
ANALYSIS
With Tristan Thompson (knee) back in the starting five, Nance will come off the bench. Across Nance's past five games as a reserve, he's averaged 9.8 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.2 steals in 26.2 minutes.
Mar 3, 2020
Teases triple-double Monday
Nance scored 16 points (7-17 FG, 2-6 3Pt) while adding eight rebounds, eight assists and two steals in 39 minutes during Monday's 126-113 loss to the Jazz.
ANALYSIS
Getting another start with both Andre Drummond (calf) and Tristan Thompson (knee) in street clothes, Nance set a new season high in assists en route to a very productive night. The 27-year-old is averaging 14.3 points, 9.7 boards, 4.7 assists, 2.3 threes and 1.7 steals over his last three starts, making him a strong DFS option any time he finds himself in the larger role.
Mar 2, 2020
Gets spot start
Nance is starting at power forward Monday against the Jazz, Spencer Davies of BasketballInsiders.com reports.
ANALYSIS
With both Andre Drummond (calf) and Tristan Thompson (knee) unavailable, Nance will join the starting five Monday. He's started eight games this season, posting averages of 13.9 points, 10.1 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.1 steals in 34.6 minutes during those contests.
Feb 27, 2020
Strong showing versus 76ers
Nance notched 13 points (6-9 FG, 1-1 3Pt), 15 rebounds, three assists and one steal in 31 minutes during Wednesday's 108-94 win over the 76ers.
ANALYSIS
Nance was one of five Cavaliers to earn at least 30 minutes, while Andre Drummond (calf) was held out of this one. Nance, like Tristan Thompson, has somewhat surprisingly been able to remain useful despite the midseason trade for Drummond. If Drummond sits out Friday's tilt against the Pelicans, Nance could be in line for another 30-plus minutes.
Feb 25, 2020
Productive showing off bench
Nance produced 16 points (8-11 FG), eight rebounds, two assists and two steals across 32 minutes in Monday's 125-119 overtime win over the Heat.
ANALYSIS
The Cavaliers were back to full strength in the frontcourt as Kevin Love (Achilles) returned from a one-game absence, but that didn't stop Nance from seeing a good deal of playing time off the bench. Nance's minutes were pushed up in part because of the overtime period, but coach J.B. Bickerstaff also gave him some run at small forward to prop up his playing time. Don't expect Nance to see much action behind Cedi Osman and Kevin Porter at that position moving forward, but if the 27-year-old can find a path to around 25 minutes per game, he'll retain utility in 12-team leagues.
Feb 22, 2020
Starting Saturday
Nance will start at power forward in place of Kevin Love (Achilles) against the Heat on Saturday, Kelsey Russo of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance has averaged 35.6 minutes per game in his seven starts thus far this season, well above his season average of 25.1 minutes. He scored a season-high 23 points in his most recent start in the final game before the All-Star break.
Feb 13, 2020
Career night in spot start
Nance scored a career-high 23 points (8-11 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 5-5 FT) while adding 12 rebounds, three steals, two assists and two blocks in 35 minutes during Wednesday's 127-105 win over the Hawks.
ANALYSIS
The Cavs' frontcourt dominated all night, as three different Cleveland bigs (Nance, Andre Drummond and Tristan Thompson) each came up with double-doubles. Nance could have trouble finding minutes after the All-Star break, however, depending on the health of Kevin Love's Achilles.
Feb 12, 2020
Starting Wednesday
Nance is in the starting lineup for Wednesday's contest against Atlanta, Angel Gray of Fox Sports Ohio reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance will take the injured Kevin Love's (Achilles) spot in the starting five Wednesday. In six previous starts, Nance averaged 13.0 points and 10.3 rebounds across 35.7 minutes per game.
Feb 10, 2020
Only 20 minutes Sunday
Nance amassed just two points (1-6 3Pt, 0-3 3Pt) and four rebounds in 20 minutes during Sunday's 133-92 loss to the Clippers.
ANALYSIS
Nance failed to have an impact Sunday, something that may become all too familiar. The addition of Andre Drummond as well as the retention of Kevin Love are both big negatives when analyzing Nance's fantasy outlook. He had been trending in the right direction prior to the trade deadline but for now, he appears as though he might be a drop in standard leagues.
Feb 5, 2020
Double-double plus five dimes
Nance notched 14 points (6-11 FG, 2-6 3Pt), 10 rebounds, five assists and one steal in 32 minutes during Wednesday's 109-103 loss to the Thunder.
ANALYSIS
Nance was one of six Cavaliers to earn at least 30 minutes, and the 27-year-old veteran provided his eighth double-double through 43 appearances this season. Nance has made almost as many threes this season (43) as he did through his first four years combined (46), and he's shooting a career-best 35.7 percent from deep. Still, he has taken a step back overall compared to last year.
Feb 5, 2020
Expected to come off bench
Nance is expected to come off the bench Wednesday against the Thunder, Kelsey Russo of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
To counter Steven Adams, coach John Beilein will give John Henson the start. Even though Nance is coming off the bench, he should still see an increase in workload given the absence of Tristan Thompson (quad).
Feb 3, 2020
Gets start Monday
Nance will start Monday against the Knicks, Joe Gabriele of the Cavaliers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance will join the starting five Monday in place of the injured Tristan Thompson (quad). In five starts this season, Nance is averaging 12.0 points, 10.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 34.4 minutes.
Jan 28, 2020
Nears triple-double
Nance went off for 17 points (6-10 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 4-4 FT), 11 rebounds, seven assists and two steals in 26 minutes during Tuesday's 125-111 loss to the Pelicans.
ANALYSIS
Nance matched his career high in assists while collecting his seventh double-double through 39 appearances this season. Four of those double-doubles have taken place across the last five games, as Nance has turned things up a notch here in January after struggling mightily in December.
Jan 26, 2020
Third straight double-double
Nance had 15 points (7-11 FG, 1-3 3PT), 11 rebounds and four assists in 24 minutes off the bench during Saturday's 118-106 loss against the Bulls.
ANALYSIS
Nance has been one of Cleveland's main contributors off the bench and he has recorded three straight double-doubles -- he is averaging 16.3 points and 11.0 boards while shooting an impressive 64.7 percent from the field during that stretch. He will attempt to extend that strong run of play Monday at Detroit.
Jan 23, 2020
Logs 22 points, 12 boards
Nance amassed 22 points (10-14 FG, 2-2 3Pt), 12 rebounds and three assists in 28 minutes during Thursday's 124-112 loss to the Wizards.
ANALYSIS
Nance finished with a season high in scoring while recording his fifth double-double through 36 appearances in 2019-20. It's unlikely he matches his career-best double-double total from last season (18), but Nance has posted consecutive double-doubles heading into Saturday's matchup versus an injury-riddled Bulls front court.
Jan 21, 2020
Notches double-double
Nance recorded 12 points (5-9 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 1-4 FT), 10 rebounds and a steal in 27 minutes during Monday's loss to the Knicks.
ANALYSIS
Nance finished with his fourth double-double of the season and first since Nov. 27th. Although he continues to hold a rotational role, Nance's largely been unimpressive in terms of his statistical contributions. Overall, the 26-year-old's offering just 8.0 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 24.3 minutes per game.
Jan 17, 2020
Drops 16 points Friday
Nance ended with 16 points (7-8 FG, 2-2 3Pt, 0-2 FT), six rebounds and two steals in 24 minutes during Friday's 113-109 loss to the Grizzlies.
ANALYSIS
Nance had his best game in almost two months, a period during which he has battled numerous injuries. Tristan Thompson was ejected which afforded Nance an opportunity late in the game. Despite the upside, Nance is typically struggling to see enough minutes to have any real fantasy value. He remains a stash in 12-team leagues as we wait for any potential trades.
Jan 15, 2020
Scoreless in return
Nance (knee) played 19 minutes in Tuesday's 128-103 loss to the Clippers, finishing with zero points (0-1 FG, 0-1 3Pt), four assists, three rebounds and one steal.
ANALYSIS
Nance was back in the mix off the bench after missing the previous six games, but he was mostly ineffective during his time on the floor. The big man was playing under a minutes restriction, though he wasn't too far under his season average of 24.1 minutes per game.
Jan 14, 2020
Available with minutes restriction
Nance (knee) will play Tuesday against the Clippers but will be limited to about 24 minutes, Chris Fedor of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance was considered probable with left knee soreness so it's not a major surprise he'll be suiting up, but the Cavaliers will ease him back into action after missing the last six games. The 27-year-old is averaging 8.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 24.3 minutes this season, so the minutes restriction won't significantly alter his regular workload.
Jan 14, 2020
Expected back Tuesday
Nance (knee) is probable for Tuesday's game against the Clippers, Kelsey Russo of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance has been sidelined for the last six games while dealing with a left knee injury, but the Cavs should get him back for Tuesday's clash. With Kevin Love getting the night off, there should be plenty of opportunities for minutes between Nance and Alfonzo McKinnie.
Jan 13, 2020
Could return during road trip
The Cavaliers are hopeful that Nance (knee) will be able to return sometime during the current road trip, which concludes Saturday against Chicago, Chris Fedor of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance hasn't played since Jan. 2 against the Hornets after suffering a left knee injury, though the team is optimistic of his chances for a return within the next few contests. The Cavs have already ruled him out for Monday's clash against the Lakers and have announced that he'll likely sit again Tuesday, meaning his next opportunity to gain clearance will come Friday in Memphis.
Jan 13, 2020
Ruled out Monday
Nance was ruled out for Monday's game against the Lakers.
ANALYSIS
Nance has missed the past five games with left knee soreness, and he'll require at least one more absence prior to being ready to return. John Henson and Alfonzo McKinnie will likely see increased roles while Nance is sidelined.
Dec 27, 2019
Available to play Friday
Nance (knee) is active for Friday's game against Boston, Chris Fedor of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
Nance will reportedly return to the court following an one-game absence due to left knee soreness. The 2015 first-round pick will presumably continue to back-up starter Tristian Thompson at the center position Friday. Nance is currently averaging 8.6 points and 7.2 rebounds over 27 appearances.
Dec 26, 2019
Questionable for Friday
Nance (knee) is questionable for Friday's game against the Celtics.
ANALYSIS
