Scoreless in nine minutes
Monk closed with zero points (0-5 FG, 0-2 3Pt), four rebounds and one assist over nine minutes during Monday's 116-105 loss to the Pacers.
ANALYSIS
Monk failed to score for just the second time this season, continuing what has been a frustrating campaign. Fresh off back-to-back 20+-point performances, Monk has since scored three and zero points. The Sacramento rotation is impossible to project at this point, making Monk a hard player to trust in standard fantasy leagues.
Dec 3, 2025
Scores 25 points with five assists
Monk recorded 25 points (10-19 FG, 5-8 3Pt), five assists, three rebounds and two steals in 30 minutes during Wednesday's 121-95 loss to the Rockets.
ANALYSIS
Monk notched a new season-high in points in the blowout loss, and he saw some increased opportunity to close the game with DeMar DeRozan, Zach LaVine and Russell Westbrook all getting benched down the stretch. Monk has been trending up as of late, scoring 20-plus in three of his past five games.
Dec 3, 2025
Available to play
Monk (shoulder) is available for Wednesday's game in Houston.
ANALYSIS
Monk was being listed as probable for Wednesday night's game, so there was never much doubt about his status. Monk is averaging 13.2 points, 2.2 assists and 1.8 three-pointers on the season.
Dec 2, 2025
Listed probable for Wednesday
Monk (shoulder) is questionable for Wednesday's game against Houston.
ANALYSIS
Monk missed practice Monday due to shoulder soreness, but he's still in line to play Wednesday. The veteran guard has averaged 13.2 points, 2.2 assists and 1.9 rebounds in 24.3 minutes per tilt across 18 games this season, shooting 40.2 percent from three-point land.
Dec 1, 2025
Misses practice Monday
Monk did not practice Monday due to shoulder soreness, Brenden Nunes of KHTK Sactown Sports 1140 reports.
ANALYSIS
The Kings are off until Wednesday, and the team doesn't expect the guard to miss any time. Essentially, the Kings are being cautious here. Monk produced 21 points (8-17 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 4-5 FT), six rebounds, six assists, two blocks and two steals across 34 minutes off the bench during Sunday's 115-107 loss to Memphis.
Dec 1, 2025
Hits for 21 in Sunday's loss
Monk racked up 21 points (8-17 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 4-5 FT), six rebounds, six assists, two blocks and two steals across 34 minutes off the bench during Sunday's 115-107 loss to Memphis.
ANALYSIS
It's the fourth time this season, and the second time in the last four games, that Monk has produced at least 20 points. The 34 minutes also represented his biggest workload of the season, as the 27-year-old guard stepped up in the absence of Dennis Schroder (hip). Monk has struggled to provide consistent offense from the second unit this season, but he's scored in double digits in six of the last eight games, averaging 13.6 points, 2.5 boards, 2.1 assists, 1.6 threes and 1.5 combined steals and blocks in 24.9 minutes over that stretch.
Nov 25, 2025
Busy off bench Monday
Monk amassed 22 points (9-18 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal across 26 minutes during Monday's 117-112 overtime victory over Minnesota.
ANALYSIS
Monk filled the box score Monday, crossing the 20-point marker for the third time in 2025-26. The veteran guard hasn't started a game this season, but he's been productive enough to warrant some consideration as a low-end option in most fantasy leagues. Monk has averaged 13.1 points, 2.1 assists, 1.7 rebounds and 0.9 steals 24.0 minutes per tilt in 15 games this season.
Nov 19, 2025
Remaining in bench role
Monk will be deployed off the bench Wednesday against Oklahoma City, James Ham of ESPN 1320 Sacramento reports.
ANALYSIS
This is a correction to a previous update that listed Monk in the starting lineup for Wednesday's clash. Zach LaVine remains the starting shooting guard for the Kings.
Nov 19, 2025
Drawing first start of season
Monk is starting Wednesday's game against the Thunder.
ANALYSIS
Monk put up 16 points Sunday against the Spurs, which was evidently enough to earn him his first start of the 2025-26 campaign. Zach LaVine will come off the bench due to the lineup shift.
Nov 14, 2025
Cleared to face Timberwolves
Monk (ankle) is available for Friday's game Minnesota, Sean Cunningham of Fox 40 Sacramento reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk is battling ankle soreness, but he's bringing his stay off the floor to a one-game minimum after missing Wednesday's contest against the Hawks. The swingman shouldn't have any restrictions Friday. On the campaign, Monk has averaged 14.2 points, 2.4 assists, 1.6 rebounds and 0.9 steals during 24.8 minutes per contest in nine games.
Nov 13, 2025
Iffy for Friday
Monk (ankle) is listed as questionable for Friday's game against the Timberwolves.
ANALYSIS
Monk is in jeopardy of missing his second consecutive contest due to left ankle soreness. If the veteran guard is ultimately ruled out, Nique Clifford, Keon Ellis and Devin Carter are candidates for an uptick in minutes. Over his last five outings, Monk has averaged 13.0 points, 2.2 assists and 1.8 rebounds in 25.0 minutes per game.
Nov 12, 2025
Won't play Wednesday
Monk (ankle) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Hawks, Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk was deemed questionable for the contest due to left ankle soreness, and he'll wind up taking a seat. With Zach LaVine (thigh) sidelined, Russell Westbrook and Keon Ellis could see more action. His next chance to play will come Friday against the Timberwolves.
Nov 12, 2025
Iffy for Wednesday
Monk is questionable for Wednesday's game against the Hawks with left ankle soreness.
ANALYSIS
The Kings have submitted a lengthy injury report for the second leg of this back-to-back set. Zach LaVine (thigh) has already been ruled out, and Domantas Sabonis (ribs) is questionable. If Monk isn't able to give it a go, Russell Westbrook and Dennis Schroder may have to shoulder significant workloads. Devin Carter could be more involved as well.
Nov 12, 2025
Early-season woes continue
Monk accumulated 12 points (5-12 FG, 2-5 3Pt), one rebound, two assists and one steal across 28 minutes during Tuesday's 122-108 loss to the Nuggets.
ANALYSIS
Monk has struggled to find any sort of rhythm thus far, scoring more than 15 points on just two occasions through his first nine games. Sacramento has won only three games, with head coach Doug Christie seemingly lost for answers. Monk's upside is just enough for him to be considered a hold in standard leagues. However, should things continue to go south, he could end up being expendable at some point in the near future.
Nov 4, 2025
Not listed on injury report
Monk (personal) is not listed on the injury report for Wednesday's game against the Warriors.
ANALYSIS
It looks like Monk will be back in action Wednesday night following a two-game stint on the sidelines, and if Zach LaVine (back) can't give it a go, Monk could see more shots falling his way. Through the first five games of the season, Monk has been a top-60 player with averages of 15.6 points, 2.4 assists, 2.6 triples, 1.2 steals and 0.8 blocks per contest.
Nov 2, 2025
Ruled out for Monday
Monk (personal) has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Nuggets.
ANALYSIS
Monk will miss his second consecutive game due to personal reasons. His next opportunity to play will come Wednesday against the Warriors. With the 27-year-old guard sidelined, Keon Ellis and Nique Clifford are candidates for an uptick in minutes, especially if Dennis Schroder (hip) is downgraded from questionable to out.
Oct 31, 2025
Won't play Saturday
Monk (personal) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Bucks.
ANALYSIS
Monk will miss a game for the first time this season due to a personal issue. The team will likely lean on Russell Westbrook, Keon Ellis and Devin Carter in Monk's absence.
Oct 29, 2025
Notches nine points
Monk finished Tuesday's 107-101 loss to the Thunder with nine points (3-7 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 3-4 FT), two rebounds, four assists and one steal across 26 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Monk and Keon Ellis both saw heavy workloads off the bench for the Kings, and that's likely to remain the case going forward. Although Tuesday's performance was a bit underwhelming, Monk is currently leading the Kings in nine-category fantasy value with averages of 15.8 points, 2.8 assists, 1.3 rebounds, 1.3 steals, 1.0 blocks and 1.3 three-pointers on 51.2 percent shooting from the field through four regular-season contests.
Oct 25, 2025
Hits for 20 points off bench
Monk finished with 20 points (7-14 FG, 6-9 3Pt), one rebound, three assists, two blocks and two steals in 21 minutes during Friday's 105-104 win over the Jazz.
ANALYSIS
It's too soon to tell, but Monk may developing into the true sixth man for the Kings. Monk is deserving of a starting role on paper, but the frontcourt is the only place where there is an opening, and he's not a fit there. That spot will eventually be filled by Keegan Murray, which will solidify a starting five that Monk won't be a part of. Despite the apparent demotion, he's off to a great start and still has some fantasy value.
Oct 23, 2025
Logs 19 points off the bench
Monk ended Wednesday's 120-116 loss to Phoenix with 19 points (7-13 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), one rebound and two assists across 27 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Monk's fantasy prospects became cloudy after the Kings acquired Dennis Schroder, and became even murkier with the recent addition of Russell Westbrook. Despite the competition, Monk found success with the second unit Wednesday. The team's confidence in Monk is not surprising after he logged a career-high campaign last season, and his results in the opener increase his probability of fantasy success as the season moves forward.
Oct 21, 2025
Off injury report for Wednesday
Monk (illness) isn't listed on the Kings' injury report for Wednesday's game against the Suns.
ANALYSIS
Monk will return to action in the Kings' regular-season opener after missing the team's final two preseason games due to illness. The 27-year-old guard is coming off a career-best year in 2024-25, during which he averaged 17.2 points, 5.6 assists and 3.8 rebounds in 31.6 minutes per game across 65 regular-season appearances (45 starts).
Oct 16, 2025
Sitting again Friday
Monk (illness) is out for Friday's preseason game against the Lakers, Sean Cunningham of Fox 40 Sacramento reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk is still recovering from an illness, so he won't suit up for Friday's preseason finale. He should have ample time to recover before Wednesday's 2025-26 regular-season opener Wednesday against the Suns.
Oct 15, 2025

Oct 14, 2025
Iffy for Wednesday
Monk (illness) is questionable for Wednesday's preseason game against the Clippers, James Ham of ESPN 1320 Sacramento reports.

Oct 14, 2025
Misses practice
Monk missed Tuesday's practice due to dealing with an illness, Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk's status for Wednesday's preseason game against the Clippers remains uncertain. The team has only two preseason games left before the regular-season opener against the Suns on Oct. 22.
Oct 8, 2025
Bench role Wednesday
Monk will come off the bench during Wednesday's preseason game against the Raptors, Coty Wiles of RaptorsRepublic.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk will be in the second unit with Dennis Schroder getting the start in the backcourt. Monk is working his way back from a calf injury he suffered in April. The team may be bringing him along slowly during the preseason.
Oct 7, 2025
Will play vs. Toronto
Monk (calf) has been cleared to play in Wednesday's game against the Raptors, Frankie Cartoscelli of KHTK Sactown Sports 1140 reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk suffered a calf injury in April, resulting in him missing the last four regular-season games of the 2024-25 campaign. He'll make his return to the floor during Wednesday's preseason game, which is a great sign for his squad. He played in 65 regular-season games last season, averaging 17.2 points, 3.8 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game, which were career-high numbers in all three categories while shooting 43.9 percent from the field and 32.5 percent from three-point range.
Apr 9, 2025
To be re-evaluated in two weeks
Monk Shams Charania of ESPN for a strained left calf injury in two weeks, Shams Charania reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk will miss at least the next two weeks for the Kings before having his injured left calf re-evaluated. The absence of the veteran guard is potentially a costly blow for this team, which has clinched a spot in the Play-In Tournament. Sacramento will have to lean on Keon Ellis, Devin Carter and Markelle Fultz in the backcourt.
Apr 8, 2025
Listed as out for Wednesday
Monk is out for Wednesday's game against the Nuggets with left calf soreness.
ANALYSIS
Monk will need to miss at least one game after leaving Monday's game against the Pistons with the issue, and his next chance to play comes Friday against the Clippers. Keon Ellis should handle an expanded role Wednesday, having averaged 8.3 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.3 steals in 30.9 minutes over his last 10 contests.
Apr 7, 2025
Picks up calf injury
Monk won't return to Monday's game against the Pistons after suffering a left calf injury, Brenden Nunes of KHTK Sactown Sports 1140 reports. He totaled two points (1-3 FG, 0-1 3Pt) and one assist in six minutes prior to exiting.
ANALYSIS
Monk appeared to suffer the calf injury at some point during the first quarter and was quickly ruled out by the medical staff. The extent of the injury is unknown at this time. Markelle Fultz and Devin Carter should pick up more minutes in the backcourt the rest of the way Monday in Monk's absence.
Apr 5, 2025
Puts up 17 points off bench
Monk notched 17 points (7-12 FG, 3-6 3Pt), one rebound and three assists over 23 minutes during Friday's 125-102 win over the Hornets.
ANALYSIS
Monk has been struggling with his shot of late, and the Kings need him to be at his best given that he's a key piece on offense with his scoring prowess off the bench. This was a step in the right direction, and it turned out to be Monk's best scoring performance since March 20, just before he missed three contests due to an illness. Since returning to the court on March 27, Monk is averaging 12.0 points per game while shooting 40.4 percent from the floor and 34.6 percent from three-point range over his last five contests.
Apr 1, 2025
Abysmal shooting performance
Monk totaled five points (2-14 FG, 1-3 3Pt), seven rebounds and seven assists in 29 minutes in Monday's 111-109 loss to the Pacers.
ANALYSIS
Monk struggled mightily from the field Monday, shooting just 14.2 percent on 14 shots. He made an impact on the glass and tallied seven assists, but his shooting woes and five turnovers were major factors in the Kings' narrow defeat. The 27-year-old has slid to the bench in the team's past three outings since returning from his three-game absence due to illness, averaging 10.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 3.7 assists on 37.5 percent shooting.
Mar 29, 2025
Muted impact off bench
Monk accumulated nine points (4-9 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 0-2 FT), two rebounds and two assists across 23 minutes during Saturday's 121-91 loss to the Magic.
ANALYSIS
Monk came off the bench in his second straight game since returning from an illness, and his production has taken a hit during this time. It's unclear if the Kings plan on moving the veteran guard back into the starting lineup once he's fully back up to speed, with Monk logging just 17 and 23 minutes in his past two outings, respectively. Fantasy managers should stay patient with Monk, who's still averaging a solid 18.4 points, 5.0 assists, 3.4 rebounds, 0.7 steals and 2.3 three-pointers in 31.1 minutes through 10 games this month.
Mar 28, 2025
Sees 17 minutes in return
Monk racked up 16 points (6-9 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds and two assists across 17 minutes during Thursday's 128-107 victory over the Trail Blazers.
ANALYSIS
Monk, who returned from a three-game absence due to an illness, was deployed off the bench and saw limited run Thursday. He looked sharp, obviously, and could potentially see his usual workload Saturday against the Magic with the illness seemingly behind him.
Mar 27, 2025
To be deployed off bench
Monk isn't in the starting lineup for Thursday's game against Portland, Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk was originally listed in the starting five leading up to Thursday's clash, but the team announced right before tipoff that Keon Ellis would draw the start at point guard. This could be an effort to ease Monk back into play after missing the last three games with an illness, though Sacramento hasn't commented on whether the 27-year-old will be on a minute restriction.
Mar 27, 2025
Good to go Thursday
Monk (illness) will play Thursday against the Trail Blazers, Frankie Cartoscelli of KHTK Sactown Sports 1140 reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk will make his return following a three-game absence due to illness. He'd been playing well before feeling under the weather, averaging 25.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 6.3 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.0 blocks in his last four appearances.
Mar 26, 2025
Questionable once again
Monk (illness) is questionable for Thursday's game against the Trail Blazers, Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk has been tabbed questionable for a third straight game due to illness. Monk has been downgraded to out in each of the first two contests. If the 26-year-old guard is forced to miss a fourth consecutive game, expect Keon Ellis to remain in the starting lineup.
Mar 25, 2025
Officially downgraded to out
Monk (illness) won't play in Tuesday's game versus the Thunder.
ANALYSIS
Monk will miss his third straight contest Tuesday after being downgraded from questionable to out due to an illness. Keon Ellis will likely draw another start in his absence. Monk's next chance to suit up is Thursday's matchup with Portland.
Mar 25, 2025
Questionable Tuesday
Monk (illness) has been listed as questionable for Tuesday's game against the Thunder.
ANALYSIS
Monk has missed the last two games for the Kings while battling an illness. If the veteran guard can't play Tuesday, Sacramento will likely turn to Keon Ellis and Markelle Fultz to shoulder the load in the backcourt.
Mar 24, 2025
Won't play against Boston
Monk (illness) has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Celtics, Sean Cunningham of Fox 40 Sacramento reports.
ANALYSIS
Monday will be the second straight game that Monk will miss as he battles through an illness, and he'll look to recover enough to return Tuesday against the Thunder. Keon Elliss and Markelle Fultz should see a bump in playing time and responsibilities against the defending NBA champions due to Monk's absence.
Mar 23, 2025
Questionable for Monday
Monk (illness) is listed as questionable for Monday's game against Boston.
ANALYSIS
Monk is in jeopardy of missing his second consecutive contest due to an illness. With Devin Carter also listed as questionable due to an illness, Markelle Fultz and Keon Ellis could receive an uptick in playing time against the Celtics. Over his last five appearances, Monk has averaged 21.8 points, 6.2 assists, 4.4 rebounds, 2.6 three-pointers, 1.2 steals and 1.0 blocks across 36.6 minutes per contest.
Mar 22, 2025
Out with illness
Monk is out for Saturday's game against the Bucks due to an illness.
ANALYSIS
Monk is a late addition to the injury report, and the veteran guard, who has been operating as the point guard for the Kings in recent weeks, will be sidelined. Expect rookie Devon Carter to start in his place against Milwaukee. Monk's next chance to play will come against the Celtics on Monday.
Mar 21, 2025
Season high in win
Monk accumulated 34 points (12-19 FG, 5-10 3Pt, 5-5 FT), one rebound and five assists across 34 minutes during Thursday's 128-116 loss to the Bulls.
ANALYSIS
Monk finished the loss with a team- and season-high 34 points, marking his third outing with at least 30 points over 58 regular-season appearances. The 27-year-old combo guard was also efficient from beyond the arc, and he sank at leas three triples for the 25th time on the season. Monk has scored at least 20 points in three of his last five outings, and in that five-game span, he has averaged 21.8 points, 6.2 assists, 4.4 rebounds, 2.6 three-pointers, 1.2 steals and 1.0 blocks across 36.6 minutes per game.
Mar 20, 2025
Fills box score Wednesday
Monk posted 22 points (8-18 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT), six rebounds, eight assists, one block and two steals in 39 minutes during Wednesday's 123-119 victory over the Cavaliers.
ANALYSIS
With Domantas Sabonis (ankle) and Zach LaVine (personal) sidelined, Monk stepped up with a team-high eight assists to go with a full stat line. Monk should continue handling extra usage in the interim, as Sabonis is set to miss at least another week. Over his last seven outings, Monk has averaged 17.9 points, 5.9 assists, 3.9 rebounds, 1.0 steals and 2.1 three-pointers in 33.8 minutes.
Mar 18, 2025
Leads Kings with 28 points
Monk closed with 28 points (10-17 FG, 4-8 3Pt, 4-4 FT), three rebounds, seven assists, three blocks and one steal in 36 minutes during Monday's 132-122 win over the Grizzlies.
ANALYSIS
Monk led the Kings in scoring, putting up his fourth game of the campaign with at least 28 points. Domantas Sabonis sustained an apparent right ankle during the third quarter of Monday's game against the Grizzlies and wasn't able to return, so there could be more usage heading Monk's way. In 56 regular-season appearances, Monk is on pace for a seventh-round finish in nine-category formats with 17.7 points, 5.9 assists, 3.8 rebounds, 1.0 steals and 2.2 three-pointers.
Mar 15, 2025
Tough night from long range
Monk closed with 18 points (8-18 FG, 0-8 3Pt, 2-2 FT), eight rebounds, five assists and one steal over 42 minutes during Friday's 122-106 loss to Phoenix.
ANALYSIS
The 27-year-old guard continues to have trouble finding his shooting form, and Monk has gone 0-for-13 from three-point range over the last two contests while scoring just 25 total points. It's not clear if the toe sprain that cost him three games earlier in March is still hampering him, but it's the most likely culprit. Monk will probably keep playing through the issue as the Kings fight to hang onto a spot in the Play-In Tournament, but the team has lost four straight and Domantas Sabonis' return from a hamstring strain Friday lasted only 30 minutes before he aggravated the injury. If the club's slide continues, Monk might get some time to rest and let his toe fully heal up.
Mar 12, 2025
Removed from injury report
Monk has been cleared to play in Thursday's game against the Warriors.
ANALYSIS
Monk is coming off a 21-point performance in Monday's loss to the Knicks and now will be good to go to play Thursday in San Francisco. The veteran guard is averaging career-high numbers in points (17.7), rebounds (3.8), assists (5.8) and steals (1.0), shooting 44 percent from the floor and 32.5 percent from beyond the arc.
Mar 11, 2025
Doesn't return Monday
Monk didn't return during Monday's 133-104 loss to the Knicks. He finished the game with 21 points (7-18 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 4-6 FT), three assists and one rebound across 30 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Monk made his return from a three-game absence due to a right toe sprain Monday, though he exited the game in the third quarter and didn't return. When asked about his reason for going back to the locker room, Monk said in the post-game presser that his toe "just felt weird," and that he wanted to get it checked out. The Kings were already facing a heavy deficit when the 27-year-old combo guard left the game, and his comments bode well for his status ahead of Thursday's game against Golden State.
Mar 11, 2025
Heads to locker room vs. NY
Monk (undisclosed) exited to the locker room during the third quarter of Monday's game against the Knicks, Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee reports.
ANALYSIS
It's unclear why Monk left for the locker room late in the third quarter, though he can be considered questionable to return until the club provides an update. If the 27-year-old combo guard is unable to come back in the final quarter, Keon Ellis and Devin Carter are candidates for an uptick in playing time.
Mar 7, 2025
Absent from shootaround Friday
Monk (toe), who has already been ruled out for Friday's game against the Spurs, did not participate in the club's morning shootaround, Brenden Nunes of KHTK Sactown Sports 1140 reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk is set to miss his second consecutive contest due to a right toe sprain, and his absence from shootaround bodes poorly for his status ahead of Sunday's game against the Clippers. The combo guard can still be considered day-to-day moving forward. Over his last five outings since the All-Star break, Monk has averaged 13.6 points, 6.4 assists, 3.6 rebounds and 1.0 steals across 30.6 minutes per contest.
Mar 6, 2025
Sitting Friday
Monk (toe) won't play in Friday's game against the Spurs, Brenden Nunes of KHTK Sactown Sports 1140 reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk will miss his second straight game due to a right toe sprain. The team is considering him day-to-day moving forward, meaning a return Sunday against the Clippers is still a possibility.
Mar 5, 2025
Ruled out for Wednesday
Monk (toe) will not play Wednesday against the Nuggets, Chris Biderman of The Sacramento Bee reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk was initially deemed questionable, so fantasy managers can consider him day-to-day moving forward. His next chance to play comes Friday against the Spurs. With Monk out of the lineup, Zach LaVine could see more usage and guys like Keon Ellis and Markelle Fultz could be more involved.
Mar 4, 2025
Iffy for Wednesday
Monk is listed as questionable for Wednesday's game against Denver due to a right toe sprain.
ANALYSIS
Monk sustained the right toe injury in Monday's win over Dallas, though he was able to return after going to the locker room in the second quarter. The combo guard hasn't missed an outing since Jan. 14, and over his last 10 appearances, he has averaged 16.0 points, 6.4 assists, 4.2 rebounds, 1.1 steals and 0.8 blocks across 34.7 minutes per contest.
Mar 3, 2025
Gets green light to return
Monk (foot) has returned to Monday's game against the Mavericks, Chris Biderman of The Sacramento Bee reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk exited Monday's matchup after having his right foot stepped on and has since been cleared to play. He returned with 3:01 left in the second quarter and should be available to play a full complement of minutes in the second half.
Mar 3, 2025
Visits locker room
Monk went to the locker room during the second quarter of Monday's game against the Mavericks with an apparent lower body injury, Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk was spotted limping off the court and immediately went to the locker room to be evaluated further. Markelle Fultz and Keon Ellis would be leaned on in the backcourt if Monk can't return.
Feb 25, 2025
Double-doubles in win
Monk amassed 13 points (5-14 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 1-1 FT), three rebounds, 10 assists, two blocks and one steal in 31 minutes during Monday's 130-88 victory over Charlotte.
ANALYSIS
Monk racked up his fourth double-double of the season in the win as the Kings ran the Hornets out of the building. With the Kings looking to make a push for the playoffs, Monk's value should be locked in as the starting point guard. Over his last 10 games, he's averaging17.3 points, 6.1 assists, 4.0 rebounds, 1.0 steals, 1.3 blocks and 1.8 three-pointers.
Feb 14, 2025
Nears double-double in OT defeat
Monk provided 24 points (8-24 FG, 4-12 3Pt, 4-4 FT), six rebounds, nine assists, one block and one steal across 43 minutes during Thursday's 140-133 overtime loss to the Pelicans.
ANALYSIS
Monk provided a nice spark to Sacramento offensively in Thursday's high-scoring overtime contest, finishing second among Kings players in scoring, threes made and assists in a strong showcase. Monk has connected on four or more threes in nine contests, surpassing the 20-point mark in 20 outings and in two of his last five appearances.
Feb 11, 2025
Notches 17 points in win
Monk had 17 points (7-17 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 3-4 FT), three rebounds, eight assists and one block across 43 minutes during Monday's 129-128 overtime win over the Mavericks.
ANALYSIS
Monk continues to play heavy minutes for the Kings in his new role as the starting point guard. His production in February has been solid with 17.7 points, 5.7 assists, 4.3 rebounds, 1.2 blocks, 1.2 steals and 1.3 three-pointers over his last six games, but he could hit another gear once his shot starts falling -- he shot 41.7 percent from the field and 24.2 percent from beyond the arc in that stretch.
Feb 7, 2025
Pops for 21 against Blazers
Monk closed with 21 points (8-20 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 3-4 FT), seven rebounds, four assists, one block and two steals over 39 minutes during Thursday's 108-102 loss to the Trail Blazers.
ANALYSIS
The 27-year-old guard has been the bigger winner so far in the wake of the trade that sent De'Aaron Fox to the Spurs and brough Zach LaVine to the Kings. Over three games since Fox's departure, Monk has handled the starting point guard role and averaged 35.3 minutes a contest while producing 19.0 points, 5.0 boards, 4.0 assists, 1.7 threes, 1.3 steals and 1.0 blocks.
Feb 4, 2025
Big night as new point guard
Monk racked up 26 points (10-23 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 4-4 FT), eight rebounds, five assists, one block and one steal in 42 minutes during Monday's 116-114 win over Minnesota.
ANALYSIS
Getting the start at point guard following the trade that sent De'Aaron Fox to the Spurs, Monk looked very comfortable as he scored 20-plus points for the 11th time in his last 15 appearances. Over that stretch, the 27-year-old is averaging 22.5 points, 7.6 assists, 3.9 boards, 2.2 threes and 1.4 steals. With Zach LaVine expected to slot in at shooting guard, Monk figures to retain his new assignment and elevated distribution numbers. He was already on track for a career-best campaign, but Monk may not have reached his fantasy ceiling yet.
Jan 29, 2025
Team-high 21 points in loss
Monk racked up a team-high 21 points (8-18 FG, 3-9 3Pt, 2-3 FT), five rebounds, eight assists and one steal in 40 minutes during Wednesday's 117-104 loss to the 76ers.
ANALYSIS
Monk led the Kings in scoring with 21 points Wednesday, and it was his 17th game of the season with at least 20 points. Eight of those showings have come in the last 11 contests, where the veteran guard has averaged 21.9 points, 8.2 assists, 3.9 rebounds, 1.6 steals and 2.2 three-pointers. Monk has already established himself as a starter for Sacramento after beginning the season in a reserve role, but his role could grow even more if the team ultimately decides to trade away De'Aaron Fox prior to the Feb. 6 deadline.
Jan 26, 2025
Matches season-high 31 points
Monk dropped 31 points (12-21 FG, 4-8 3Pt, 3-4 FT), nine assists, three rebounds and a steal in 34 minutes during Saturday's 143-120 loss to the Knicks.
ANALYSIS
Since being promoted to the starting lineup in December, Monk has impressed to the tune of 19.5 points and 6.8 assists per game, and although his efficiency (43.8 percent from the field and 33.5 percent from deep) has taken a slight hit, he's more than making up for it in volume. He's been great as a playmaker of late as well, dishing eight or more assists in six of his last nine games. He'll look to stay hot Monday against the Nets.
Jan 23, 2025
Comes close to double-double
Monk ended with 20 points (7-15 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 4-4 FT), four rebounds, nine assists, one block and three steals in 38 minutes during Wednesday's 123-117 win over the Warriors.
ANALYSIS
Monk has been excellent for the Kings since moving to a starting role, and he's been playing at a high level in recent weeks, even taking some of De'Aaron Fox's burden as a playmaker. The numbers back that up, as Monk has dished out six or more assists in all but one of his last 10 contests. Over that stretch, Monk is averaging 22.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, 7.5 assists and 1.7 steals per game.
Jan 20, 2025
Goes for 23 points in win
Monk produced 23 points (8-15 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 4-4 FT), one rebound, four assists, one block and one steal in 30 minutes during Sunday's 123-100 win over the Wizards.
ANALYSIS
Monk filled the stat sheet admirably and posted a solid stat line across the board, ending as one of three players who reached the 20-point plateau in an easy win for the Kings. Monk has been excellent as a starter and is putting up solid numbers as a reliable scoring weapon, hitting the 20-point mark in all but one of his previous eight outings, averaging 23.6 points per game in that span.
Jan 17, 2025
Goes for 26 points
Monk had 26 points (10-19 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 4-5 FT), three rebounds, nine assists and one steal across 37 minutes during Thursday's 132-127 victory over the Rockets.
ANALYSIS
Monk finished just one assist away from recording a double-double. The former Kentucky star continues to thrive in a starting role while settling as another reliable scoring weapon alongside the Big Three of De'Aaron Fox, DeMar DeRozan and Domantas Sabonis. Monk has scored at least 20 points in all but one of his previous seven contests, averaging 23.7 points per game and shooting 45 percent from the floor in that span.
Jan 16, 2025
Good to go
Monk (groin) is available for Thursday's game against the Rockets, James Ham of ESPN 1320 Sacramento reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk will be back in action Thursday night following a brief one-game absence due to a groin injury. He's expected to return to the starting five and has scored 20 points or more in five of his last six matchups.
Jan 16, 2025
Goes through shootaround
Monk (groin) was active at shootaround ahead of Thursday's game versus the Rockets, Brenden Nunes of KHTK Sactown Sports 1140 reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk is listed as probable Thursday after missing Sacramento's previous outing due to a groin injury. While fantasy managers should look out for an official injury update to clarify Monk's status against Houston, all signs point to him being able to suit up.
Jan 15, 2025
Probable for Thursday
Monk (groin) has been listed as probable for Thursday's game against the Rockets.
ANALYSIS
Monk appears to be trending toward returning to the basketball floor for the Kings on Thursday against the Rockets. The veteran guard missed Tuesday's game against the Bucks with a groin injury but could return in Sacramento. He's currently averaging a career-high 17.2 points, 3.8 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game, shooting 43.5 percent from the field and 33.9 percent from beyond the arc.
Jan 14, 2025
Ruled out Tuesday
Monk (groin) will not play Tuesday against the Bucks, Chris Biderman of The Sacramento Bee reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk was previously carrying a questionable tag which suggests that he's day-to-day, but he will sit out his first game since Nov. 24. His next chance to play will be Thursday against the Rockets, and fantasy managers can consider him questionable for that contest. As for Tuesday, the Kings could turn to Keon Ellis and Kevin Huerter to step into larger roles.
Jan 13, 2025
Iffy for Tuesday
Monk (groin) is listed as questionable for Tuesday's game against the Bucks.
ANALYSIS
Monk is in danger of missing his first contest since Nov. 24 due to right groin soreness. The 26-year-old has carved out a significant role in the starting five this season, and if he's sidelined, Keon Ellis and Kevin Huerter are candidates for increased roles. Over his last five outings, Monk has averaged 24.0 points, 8.2 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 2.0 steals in 37.0 minutes per contest.
Jan 12, 2025
Flirts with triple-double in win
Monk closed Sunday's 124-119 win over the Bulls with 18 points (7-18 FG, 1-7 3Pt, 3-3 FT), eight rebounds, nine assists and two steals across 37 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Monk did a little bit of everything for Sacramento in the starting lineup Sunday, leading all players in assists and steals while ending as one of four players with 15 or more points and coming up one dime and one rebounds shy of a triple-double. Monk posted his sixth game of the season with at least 15 points, five rebounds and five assists while securing at least 18 points in six straight outings.
Jan 11, 2025
Continues to fill in admirably
Monk logged 22 points (9-24 FG, 3-11 3Pt, 1-1 FT), three rebounds, eight assists, one block and one steal over 37 minutes during Friday's 114-97 win over the Celtics.
ANALYSIS
Operating as Sacramento's point guard for the injured De'Aaron Fox (glute) for a third straight contest, Monk continued to fill in admirably with 22 points and eight assists to go with a full stat line Friday. The streaky Monk appears to be on a heater at the moment, as the 26-year-old is averaging 22.3 points, 7.3 assists, 4.0 rebounds, 1.4 steals and 2.7 threes across his last seven contests. If Fox is unable to suit up for the Kings on Sunday against the Bulls, Monk would figure to continue handling an expanded role as one of the team's top playmakers alongside Domantas Sabonis and DeMar DeRozan.
Jan 7, 2025
Another strong showing
Monk provided 23 points (8-25 FG, 1-9 3Pt, 6-7 FT), five rebounds, six assists and two steals over 49 minutes during Monday's 123-118 double-overtime win over the Heat.
ANALYSIS
Monk didn't have his best shooting line after needing 25 shots to score 23 points, though he still posted an impressive line in general. He's been playing at a high level of late and has reached the 20-point mark in five of his last six outings.
Jan 6, 2025
Shines with 26/12 double-double
Monk produced 26 points (9-14 FG, 5-8 3Pt, 3-3 FT), three rebounds, 12 assists, one block and four steals in 29 minutes during Sunday's 129-99 victory over Golden State.
ANALYSIS
Monk's brilliant play continued with a team-high 26 points. Although De'Aaron Fox's (hip) absence was a contributing factor, Monk's totals have been excellent, independent of Sacramento's injury report. Promoting Monk has proven to be a winning formula, and fantasy managers should expect the production to continue. He's enjoyed a great start to January, averaging 25.7 points, 8.0 assists, 2.3 rebounds and 2.0 steals over three games.
Jan 4, 2025
Delivers massive line in win
Monk registered 31 points (11-20 FG, 6-12 3Pt, 3-3 FT), two rebounds, six assists and one steal in 33 minutes during Friday's 138-133 victory over the Grizzlies.
ANALYSIS
Promoting Monk to the first unit is the shrewdest move the Kings have made this season. After toiling as the sixth man for two seasons and reserve roles elsewhere, Monk is finally getting a chance to hold down a full-time job as a starter. He's solidly outperforming the competition below him on the depth chart, and this scenario doesn't look like it will change anytime soon. He'll have ample opportunity to keep posting prolific totals despite a hist of elite talent on the roster.
Jan 2, 2025
Struggles with three-point shot
Monk closed with 20 points (5-12 FG, 0-5 3Pt, 10-10 FT), two rebounds, six assists and one steal across 32 minutes during Wednesday's 113-107 win over the 76ers.
ANALYSIS
Monk delivered an impressive stat line and reached the 20-point mark for the second time over his last three games. Even though the fact that he went 0-for-5 from beyond the arc might stand out, the truth is that Monk has been struggling with his shot since being promoted to a starting role on Dec. 1. During that 14-game span, he's averaging 16.7 points per game but is only shooting a subpar 32.7 percent from three-point range. Furthermore, his 33.9 percent from deep this season would be his lowest mark of the last five seasons if he doesn't improve it in the coming months.
Dec 31, 2024
Puts together diverse line in win
Monk logged 14 points (4-14 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 5-6 FT), seven rebounds, six assists and one steal in 36 minutes during Monday's 110-100 win over the Mavericks.
ANALYSIS
It's taken a few years for Monk to find his way back into a starting lineup, but it looks like he's now the preferred option after working with the second unit during his first two seasons with the Kings. Monk's ability to put up solid totals in a reserve role was never in doubt, but the addition of DeMar DeRozan and Kevin Huerter's streaky play has led to a permanent spot for Monk with the first unit. Monk and DeRozan seem to complement each other well, and the Kentucky product's ability to impact in multiple categories is a great bonus for the squad.
Dec 17, 2024
Impact two-way performer
Monk amassed 25 points (9-19 FG, 4-10 3Pt, 3-3 FT), six rebounds, 10 assists, three blocks and one steal in 34 minutes during Monday's 130-129 loss to the Nuggets.
ANALYSIS
Monk has scored at least 20 points in three of his last five starts, but he's been making a difference in most fantasy formats due to his contributions in other categories. He's showing he's not just a one-dimensional scorer, posting a season-high mark in blocks and dishing out double-digit dimes just for the second time in 2024-25. Monk has experienced an uptick in his fantasy value, and the numbers back him up. He's averaging 18.1 points, 4.4 rebounds, 7.3 assists and a combined 1.4 steals-plus-blocks in seven starts this season.
Dec 13, 2024
Shooting woes in win Thursday
Monk registered five points (2-11 FG, 1-5 3Pt), nine assists, four rebounds, one block and one steal over 34 minutes during Thursday's 111-109 win over New Orleans.
ANALYSIS
Monk struggled to find his rhythm from the field Thursday as he tied his season-low mark in scoring. The 26-year-old has successfully made the jump to the starting five in his last six outings, during which he has averaged 17.0 points, 6.8 assists and 4.2 rebounds while shooting 40.4 percent from deep across 33.2 minutes per game.
Dec 6, 2024
Scores 23 points Thursday
Monk had 23 points (7-16 FG, 4-9 3Pt, 5-5 FT), one rebound and five assists over 32 minutes during Thursday's 115-110 loss to Memphis.
ANALYSIS
Monk continues to produce in a starting role for the Kings, and there's no question Sacramento is riding his hot hand now. This was his fifth straight game with at least 15 points, scoring over 20 thrice in that span, and he's shooting an impressive 51.9 percent from the field in that stretch. Monk's numbers are likely to regress at some point, particularly in the efficiency department. Still, he's been showing he's worth rostering in most formats, especially now that he holds a starting role.
Dec 4, 2024
Racks up double-double in win
Monk ended with 17 points (5-10 FG, 4-8 3Pt, 3-3 FT), two rebounds, 12 assists and one steal in 35 minutes during Tuesday's 120-111 victory over the Rockets.
ANALYSIS
The Kings once again opted to start Monk over Keon Eliis, who has struggled to stay consistent. Monk has responded with two excellent games, and although Kevin Huerter is back in action, Monk will play a key role as Huerter's health improves. Monk has been the first man off the bench for the Kings frequently over his three-year tenure with the team, and he's invaluable as an offensive spark. Odds are that he'll return to that role eventually, but he is currently strutting his stuff as a starter.
Dec 2, 2024
Scores 19 points Sunday
Monk racked up 19 points (7-14 FG, 5-10 3Pt), seven rebounds, six assists, one block and one steal over 37 minutes during Sunday's 127-125 loss to San Antonio.
ANALYSIS
Monk had an impressive showing and is making a strong case to remain as the Kings' starting shooting guard going forward. Monk missed seven games between Nov. 11 and Nov. 24 due to a right ankle sprain, but he's been on a tear since returning to the hardwood. He's scored at least 19 points in his last three outings while averaging 22.3 points and shooting 48.6 percent from three in his previous four contests.
Dec 1, 2024
Gets start Sunday
Monk will enter the starting lineup in Sunday's game against the Spurs, Frankie Cartoscelli of KHTK Sactown Sports 1140 reports.
ANALYSIS
Keon Ellis will slide to the bench and Malik Monk will make his first start as a member of the Kings. In his last three games since returning from an ankle injury, the Sixth Man of the Year candidate has averaged 23.3 points, 7.0 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 1.0 blocks across 32.3 minutes per game.
Nov 30, 2024
Huge night from long range
Monk contributed a game-high 29 points (10-21 FG, 8-15 3Pt, 1-1 FT), three rebounds, nine assists and two blocks across 36 minutes off the bench during Friday's 115-106 loss to the Trail Blazers.
ANALYSIS
The eight made threes weren't just a season high for Monk -- his best previous performance was only three treys. The 26-year-old guard has been on fire since returning from a seven-game absence due to an ankle injury, and over the last three contests he's averaging 23.3 points, 7.0 assists, 4.3 threes, 4.0 boards and 1.0 blocks in 32.3 minutes a game.
Nov 28, 2024
Season-best effort in win
Monk accumulated 27 points (11-16 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 2-3 FT), eight rebounds, nine assists and one steal across 35 minutes during Wednesday's 115-104 victory over Minnesota.
ANALYSIS
Monk erupted with a season-high 27 points off the bench for the Kings on Wednesday, teasing a triple-double in the process. It was just his second game back following a seven-game absence due to an ankle injury, but Monk has created a reputation in recent years for being able to heat up in a hurry. With DeMar DeRozan still nursing a back issue, the 26-year-old guard is worth a look on all fantasy waiver wires with a short-term boost in value while the star wing is off the court. Following Wednesday's outburst, Monk is up to 13.9 points, 3.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.4 three-pointers and 0.9 steals in 25.9 minutes per game through 12 games as Sacramento's sixth man in 2024-25.
Nov 26, 2024
Delivers 14 points in return
Monk (ankle) tallied 14 points (4-12 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 4-6 FT), three assists, one rebound, one steal and one block across 26 minutes off the bench in Monday's 130-109 loss to the Thunder.
ANALYSIS
Monk had missed the previous seven games with a right ankle sprain, but he didn't face any restrictions in his return to action, with his 26 minutes essentially matching his season-long average (25.1 per game). The Kings moved Kevin Huerter to the bench and cut down his playing time to 10 minutes to accommodate Monk, who should continue to operate as Sacramento's sixth man. Look for Monk to deliver most of fantasy value in the points, three-pointers, assists and free-throw percentage categories, with the defensive numbers he offered Monday representing more of an outlier.
Nov 25, 2024
Returning to action Monday
Monk (ankle) is listed as available for Monday's game against the Thunder, James Ham of ESPN 1320 Sacramento reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk will snap a seven-game absence streak due to a right ankle sprain. According to Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee, the 26-year-old guard will not operate under a minutes restriction, and his return should provide a boost to Sacramento's second unit.
Nov 25, 2024
Expected to play
Monk (ankle) is expected to play Monday against the Thunder, according to NBA reporter Chris Haynes.
ANALYSIS
Monk has missed the past seven games for the Kings, so his return would provide a big boost to the franchise. According to Haynes, Monk will go through warmups with the intention of playing, so it sounds like he'll give it a go barring a setback in warmups. With Monk expected back, Kevin Huerter could see his minutes take a hit.
Nov 24, 2024
Won't play vs. Brooklyn
Monk (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Nets, Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk's availability for Sunday's game upgraded from doubtful to questionable, but he will ultimately be sidelined for a seventh straight game due to a right ankle sprain. Monk's next chance to play will be Monday against the Thunder.
Nov 24, 2024
Now questionable vs. Nets
Monk (ankle) has been upgraded to questionable for Sunday's game against the Nets.
ANALYSIS
Monk's status for Sunday's game has been upgraded twice since initially being ruled out. Even if he isn't able to play, it appears the eighth-year guard is close to returning from a prolonged absence due to a right ankle sprain.
Nov 24, 2024
Upgraded to doubtful
Monk (ankle) has been upgraded from out to doubtful for Sunday's game against the Nets.
ANALYSIS
Monk was initially listed as out, which would've marked his seventh straight absence. While he'll likely still be sidelined Sunday, Monk's upgrade to doubtful can still be viewed as a positive. Sunday's game is the first half of a back-to-back set, but Monk's status for Monday's game against the Thunder likely won't be released until Monday afternoon.
Nov 23, 2024
Won't return Sunday
Monk (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Nets, Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk will miss a sixth straight game due to a right ankle sprain. He participated in non-contact drills during Thursday's practice, and he'll have to ramp up to team drills and scrimmages before returning to action. It's unlikely Monk would be available for the second leg of the Kings' back-to-back Monday against the Thunder.
Nov 21, 2024
Present at practice
Monk (ankle) was seen at Thursday's practice in a jersey, Frankie Cartoscelli of KHTK Sactown Sports 1140 reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk has missed Sacramento's last five contests due to a right ankle sprain. While it's unclear to what extent the 26-year-old participated in practice, his presence is a good sign regardless. Still, Monk is expected to remain sidelined until at least next week.
Nov 18, 2024
Cleared for individual work
Monk (ankle) has been cleared to participate in individual on-court workouts, Law Murray of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk has been sidelined for the Kings' last four games after spraining his right ankle against the Suns on Nov. 10. He'll progress to individual workouts, and his next step will be to return to team drills and 5-on-5 work. In the nine games prior to his injury, Monk had averaged 13.6 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.9 assists over 26.9 minutes per game.
Nov 11, 2024
Slated to miss at least two weeks
Monk was diagnosed with a moderate right ankle sprain Monday and will be sidelined for at least two weeks, Sean Cunningham of Fox 40 Sacramento reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk suffered the injury during Sunday's overtime loss to the Suns in the first half and didn't return, finishing with four points, three rebounds, two assists and one steal in seven minutes. With Monk sidelined for a couple of weeks, Kevin Huerter, Keon Ellis, Doug McDermott and Jordan McLaughlin are candidates for increased roles.
Nov 11, 2024
Won't play Monday
Monk (ankle) will not play Monday against the Spurs, according to NBA reporter Chris Haynes.
ANALYSIS
Monk suffered a right ankle injury Sunday against the Suns and was unable to return. He's still being evaluated, but the Kings went ahead and ruled him out of Monday's contest. With monk sidelined, there could be more opportunities for Keon Ellis and Doug McDermott in the rotation.
Nov 10, 2024
Won't return vs. Phoenix
Monk (ankle) has been ruled out for the rest of Sunday's game against the Suns, Frankie Cartoscelli of KHTK Sactown Sports 1140 reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk limped off the court to the locker room early in the second quarter after spraining his right ankle. Given the quick announcement that he won't return, it wouldn't be surprising if Monk is sidelined for the second leg of the Kings' back-to-back against the Spurs on Monday. Keon Ellis and Doug McDermott will see an uptick in minutes off the bench in Monk's absence.
Nov 10, 2024
Heads to locker room Sunday
Monk went back to the locker room after suffering an apparent ankle injury during Sunday's game against the Suns, Duane Rankin of The Arizona Republic reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk appeared to suffer an ankle injury while running around a screen before exiting the game for the locker room. If he is unable to return, Jordan McLaughlin, Colby Jones and Doug McDermott could see extra run.
Nov 10, 2024
Leaves game with ankle injury
Monk (ankle) went to the locker room during the second quarter of Sunday's game against the Suns, Sean Cunningham of Fox 40 Sacramento reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk appeared to turn his right ankle on Mason Plumlee's foot, and the former headed back to the locker room following the injury. If Monk is unable to return to Sunday's game, Keon Ellis and Doug McDermott would figure to see more minutes off the bench.
Nov 2, 2024
Pours in 21 points
Monk finished with 21 points (9-16 FG, 3-7 3Pt), four rebounds, four assists and two steals over 38 minutes during Saturday's 131-128 overtime loss to Toronto.
ANALYSIS
Monk managed to finish in double figures in the scoring column after putting up seven and nine points in his previous two appearances. He saw a significant increase in playing time in the loss, logging a season-best 38 minutes while knocking down an impressive 56.3 percent of his tries from the field. There will continue to be plenty of competition for Monk within this Sacramento offense, but it's nice to be reminded that he's still capable of reaching the 20-point threshold.
Oct 30, 2024
Notches seven points
Monk posted seven points (2-11 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 1-2 FT), four rebounds, three assists and one block over 26 minutes during Tuesday's 113-96 victory over Utah.
ANALYSIS
Monk couldn't find his rhythm Tuesday night, but fantasy managers will at least appreciate that his usage rate remained sturdy. He's off to a quiet start this campaign, posting averages of 12.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.0 three-pointers through four outings.
Oct 23, 2024
Removed from injury report
Monk (hand) has been cleared in advance of Thursday's season opener versus Minnesota.
ANALYSIS
Monk dealt with right hand soreness in the preseason, but he appears good to go as Sacramento begins the season Thursday. Monk is expected to come off of the bench behind De'Aaron Fox, Kevin Huerter and DeMar DeRozan.
Oct 17, 2024
Won't play Thursday
Monk won't play in Thursday's preseason game against the Clippers due to right hand soreness, Sean Cunningham of Fox 40 Sacramento reports.
ANALYSIS
The Kings will be depleted in their backcourt for the preseason finale since they'll also be without De'Aaron Fox (rest). Monk will have about a week to recover since the Kings will open their 2023-24 regular season against the Timberwolves on Thursday.
Oct 13, 2024
Off injury report Sunday
Monk (personal) is not on the injury report for Sunday's preseason game against the Trail Blazers.
ANALYSIS
Monk missed Friday's preseason game against the Warriors due to personal reasons, but he is back with the team and is expected to suit up Sunday. The 2024 Sixth Man of the Year is set to reprise his prominent role off the bench coming off a career-best year, during which he averaged 15.4 points, 5.1 assists and 2.9 rebounds while shooting 44.3 percent from the field across 26.0 minutes per game in 72 regular-season appearances.
Oct 11, 2024
Still away from team
Monk (personal) is out for Friday's preseason game against the Kings, as he is still away from the team, Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee reports.
ANALYSIS
It was previously reported that Monk rejoined the team on Thursday, which may have been true, but he is again away due to personal matters. He is not expected to miss an extended period of time. The Kentucky product figures to once again be in the 6th Man of the Year conversation as the Kings' top bench option this season.
Oct 10, 2024
Rejoining team
Monk (personal) will rejoin the Kings on Thursday afternoon, Sean Cunningham of Fox 40 Sacramento reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk exited Wednesday's preseason game due to personal reasons but appears good to go for Friday's preseason matchup against Golden State. Monk should continue to be one of the league's most productive bench players this season.
Oct 10, 2024
Exits for personal reasons
Monk exited Wednesday's preseason game against the Warriors for personal reasons, and he is not expected to be away from the team for an extended period, Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk left Wednesday's contest with eight minutes left in the first half and it's now known he's not dealing with an injury. The shooting guard tallied 13 points on 4-of-7 shooting across 10 minutes prior to leaving. It's unclear how long he'll be away from the team, but his next chance to play will come Friday at Golden State.
Oct 9, 2024
Heads to locker room
Monk (undisclosed) went back to the locker room during the second quarter of Wednesday's preseason game against the Warriors, Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk headed straight back to the locker room after being subbed out, though the reason for his departure is unknown. Monk should be considered questionable to return and while he's sidelined, expect Mason Jones and Colby Jones to see more action.

Content with Sixth Man role
Coach Mike Brown said Tuesday that Monk (knee) will be the Kings' Sixth Man in 2024-25, Frankie Cartoscelli of KHTK Sactown Sports 1140 reports.
ANALYSIS
Fresh off a second-place finish for the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year Award, Monk inked a four-year, $78 million deal with the Kings this offseason. Kevin Huerter (shoulder) isn't cleared for 5-on-5 work yet, so Keon Ellis is operating as the starting shooting guard next to De'Aaron Fox. Monk is certainly talented enough to start for the Kings even when they're at full strength, but his impact off the bench is undeniable. Playing with the reserves also allows Monk to have the ball in his hands more, increasing his fantasy value.

Will stay with Sacramento
Monk (knee) intends to sign a four-year, $78 million deal with the Kings, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk continues to recover from a knee injury, but that hasn't stopped him from reaching an agreement with the Kings. The sharpshooter averaged career-high marks in points (15.4) and assists (5.1) per game en route to finishing second in the 2023-24 Sixth Man of the Year award voting. Even though Monk was expected to be a sought-after player in the open market, instead, he chose to sign with the Kings and will make the deal official once the league year begins July 1.
Apr 16, 2024
Yet to begin running
Monk (knee) has not re-commenced running amid his ongoing recovering from an MCL sprain, and he "doesn't know if a first round return is realistic goal," per Anthony Slater of The Athletic.
ANALYSIS
Sacramento must defeat Golden State on Tuesday to unlock a first-round opportunity, but Monk appears to be multiple recovery steps away from returning to game action. Behind superstar De'Aaron Fox, Keon Ellis and Davion Mitchell have absorbed work in a shorthanded backcourt.
Mar 30, 2024
Suffers sprained MCL
Monk has been diagnosed with a sprained right MCL and is expected to miss four-to-six weeks, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports.
ANALYSIS
This is a brutal blow for the Kings and it rules Monk out for the remainder of the regular season. Depending on how quickly he recovers, Monk could potentially make his return during Sacramento's postseason run. In the meantime, guys like Keon Ellis and Davion Mitchell could be asked to soak up more minutes in the backcourt. Monk will finish the regular season with averages of 15.4 points, 5.1 assists, 2.9 rebounds and 2.1 three-pointers.
Mar 30, 2024
Serious knee injury suspected
Monk is feared to have suffered a sprained MCL in his right knee during Friday's 107-103 to the Mavericks and will undergo further testing, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk suffered his knee injury after colliding with Luka Doncic early in the first quarter of Friday's contest, causing him to leave after just one minute of action. While fantasy managers should look out for an official update from Sacramento, losing the likely Sixth Man of the Year would be a big blow for the Kings' playoff hopes.
Mar 29, 2024
Won't return Friday
Monk will not return to Friday's game versus Dallas with a right knee injury. He finished with two points and one rebound in one minute.
ANALYSIS
Monk collided with Luka Doncic early in the first quarter and his right knee buckled awkwardly. Monk was able to walk off the court under his own power, but the Kings ruled him out for the remainder of the game pretty quickly. Until more is known, Monk should be considered questionable for Sunday against the Jazz.
Mar 29, 2024
Goes to locker room
Monk left Friday's game against Dallas with an apparent right knee injury and went to the locker room with 4:14 remaining in the first quarter.
ANALYSIS
Monk contested a Luka Doncic shot attempt and the Mavericks forward landed on his leg awkwardly. Monk was in obvious pain and should be considered questionable to return.
Mar 22, 2024
Pops for 20 in Washington
Monk ended with 20 points (6-13 FG, 1-7 3Pt, 7-7 FT), one rebound, four assists, one block and one steal in 29 minutes off the bench during Thursday's 109-102 loss to the Wizards.
ANALYSIS
The 26-year-old guard struggled to find his shot from the outside but still reached 20 points for the sixth time in 11 March contests. Monk is averaging 20.9 points, 5.4 assists, 4.0 boards and 2.2 threes on the month as he continues to build a strong case for the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year Award.
Mar 21, 2024
Struggles from deep Wednesday
Monk closed Wednesday's 123-89 win over the Raptors with 17 points (6-12 FG, 1-7 3Pt, 4-4 FT), two rebounds, two assists and one steal over 20 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Monk might have ended with a solid stat line across the board, but the sharpshooter had a rough outing from deep, making just one of his seven attempts from beyond the arc. There's a strong chance this was nothing more than an off night for Monk, as he's averaging 21.0 points per game while coming off the bench since the beginning of March.
Mar 19, 2024
Goes for 28 points off bench
Monk amassed 28 points (10-19 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 7-7 FT), six rebounds and six assists over 39 minutes during Monday's 121-111 overtime win over the Grizzlies.
ANALYSIS
Monk struggled from three-point range, but that didn't stop him from posting another impressive stat line, with the veteran sharpshooter now reaching the 20-point mark in three of his last five appearances. One of the most productive second-unit scorers in The Association, Monk holds substantial value in most formats due to his scoring prowess and important role in the Kings' rotation. He's averaging 21.4 points, 5.9 assists and 4.6 rebounds per game since the beginning of March.
Mar 13, 2024
Available to return
Monk (neck strain) briefly exited Wednesday's game against the Lakers during the first half, but will be available for the second half, Brenden Nunes of KHTK Sactown Sports 1140 reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk made a quick trip to the locker room after being tied up with Anthony Davis during a fastbreak but quickly returned to the Kings' bench. He'll be available to play in the closing two periods.
Mar 13, 2024
Pours in 25 points from bench
Monk provided 25 points (9-19 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 4-5 FT), five rebounds and five assists in 28 minutes during Tuesday's 129-94 victory over the Bucks.
ANALYSIS
Monk added to his resume for Sixth Man of the Year with another brilliant performance. Keegan Murray's (ankle) injury required an extra push from the bench, but Monk delivers the goods nightly. Monk and De'Aaron Fox would probably not fare as well if they were both in the first unit, and the team has implemented Monk's' role perfectly. He's versatile enough to cover three positions as a reserve.
Mar 11, 2024
Goes for 20 points Sunday
Monk racked up 20 points (8-16 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, five assists and two steals across 27 minutes during Sunday's 112-104 loss to the Rockets.
ANALYSIS
Monk struggled with his outside shot and made just two of his eight three-point attempts, but he still posted a strong stat line while reaching the 20-point mark for the third time over his last five appearances. Monk is averaging 22.8 points per game since the beginning of March and has provided a massive boost to the Kings' second unit while being a solid fantasy alternative for managers who decided to stick with him when things weren't going so well.
Mar 8, 2024
Teases triple-double off bench
Monk finished Thursday's 131-129 win over the Spurs with 18 points (6-17 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 4-4 FT), seven rebounds, nine assists, one block and one steal across 30 minutes off the bench.
ANALYSIS
The 26-year-old wing did commit six turnovers, but it was still a very impressive performance as Monk led the Kings' second unit in scoring and rebounding while tying Domantas Sabonis for the team lead in assists. Monk's produced a career-high 5.3 assists a game this season, and his overall numbers have spiked since the beginning of February -- he's averaging 19.5 points, 5.4 assists, 3.9 boards, 2.1 threes and 0.8 steals over the last 16 games.
Mar 7, 2024
Pours in 26 points
Monk produced 26 points (10-19 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 3-3 FT), five rebounds, eight assists and two steals over 32 minutes during Wednesday's 130-120 win over the Lakers.
ANALYSIS
The votes for Monk to be Sixth Man of the Year should be numerous as he continues to ball out with the Kings' second unit He played 32 minutes in the contest, holding Kevin Huerter to only two points in 12 minutes on the floor. He's also a key pivot when Harrison Barnes takes a seat, allowing for a full game's worth of production.
Mar 2, 2024
Erupts for season-high 39
Monk produced 39 points (16-29 FG, 5-8 3Pt, 2-4 FT), four rebounds, four assists and one steal over 33 minutes off the bench during Friday's 124-120 overtime victory over Minnesota.
ANALYSIS
After a fairly quiet first half, Monk poured in 35 of his points after halftime as he took over a Kings backcourt that was missing De'Aaron Fox (knee) for a second straight game. It was the best performance of the season for Monk, but he's been on an impressive roll since the beginning of February. Over the last 13 games, the 26-year-old guard has scored more than 20 points eight times, averaging 19.8 points, 4.8 assists, 3.6 boards and 2.0 threes in 28.1 minutes a contest while shooting 50.0 percent from the floor.
Feb 27, 2024
Cold from deep
Monk logged eight points (4-10 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 0-2 FT), two rebounds, seven assists and two steals over 21 minutes during Monday's 121-110 loss to the Heat. He only had one turnover as well.
ANALYSIS
Monk failed to hit a three for the third time in his past five games, continuing a slump in which he is connecting on just 13.0 percent of 4.6 threes over that span. Sacramento travels to Denver on Wednesday, and Monk delivered just six points on 2-for-11 shooting in his last contest at the Nuggets.
Feb 14, 2024
Boosts offense off bench in loss
Monk produced 22 points (9-16 FG, 0-5 3Pt, 4-4 FT), four rebounds, six assists, one block and one steal in 33 minutes during Tuesday's 130-125 loss to the Suns.
ANALYSIS
Monk led all Kings bench players in scoring to go along with a half-dozen assists and a quartet of rebounds to spark Sacramento's second unit in a losing effort. Monk has surpassed the 20-point mark in 18 contests this season, including in six of his last seven games.
Feb 10, 2024
Leads team with 23 points
Monk finished with 23 points (9-13 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT), one rebound, two assists, one block and one steal over 20 minutes during Friday's 135-106 win over the Nuggets.
ANALYSIS
Monk's total was impressive when you consider his 20 minutes of court time, which was over five minutes less than his seasonal average. If backcourt size was a non-issue, Monk would have likely overtaken Kevin Huerter in the starting lineup weeks ago, but Huerter's 6-7 frame gives the team a better defensive set despite his recent shooting struggles. Monk's sixth-man role has been critical to the team's success, and he'll try to extend his streak of double-digit scoring totals Sunday against the Thunder.
Feb 8, 2024
Colects 10 assists in loss
Monk closed Wednesday's 133-120 loss to the Pistons with 23 points (10-21 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 1-1 FT), five rebounds, 10 assists and two blocks across 34 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Monk excelled on a night where Sacramento's starting backcourt lacked much-needed firepower, and his totals kept alive a significant upward trend over the past four games. Monk suffered through seven single-digit scoring totals over the past month, but his shot volume has shot up since the beginning of February. If he can keep this streak going, he'l improve his standing among the other excellent sixth men in the conference.
Feb 3, 2024
All-around showing to lead bench
Monk contributed 22 points (7-14 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 6-7 FT), five rebounds, seven assists and one block across 34 minutes during Saturday's 123-115 victory over the Bulls.
ANALYSIS
Monk led all bench players in Saturday's contest in scoring, rebounds and assists while connecting on a pair of threes and concluding as one of two Kings players with 20 or more points in a winning effort. Monk has posted 20 or more points in two straight outings while notching at least five rebounds and five assists in five games.
Jan 30, 2024
Rough night Monday
Monk finished with three points (1-6 FG, 1-4 3Pt), three rebounds, five assists and one steal across 20 minutes during Monday's 103-94 victory over the Grizzlies.
ANALYSIS
Monk managed just three points in the win, continuing his recent struggles. He has now scored fewer than 10 points in four of the past five games, a far cry from what he was putting up only a month ago. He has been outside the top 300 over the past two weeks, making him a tough player to hold in standard formats.
Jan 17, 2024
Shooting woes surface Tuesday
Monk registered 13 points (5-16 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 1-1 FT), three rebounds, eight assists and one block across 29 minutes during Tuesday's 119-117 loss to Phoenix.
ANALYSIS
Monk might have scored in double digits for the fifth game in a row, which is always useful considering his bench role, but his upside becomes limited when he struggles from the field as much as he did Tuesday. Monk delivers most of his value through his shooting and scoring prowess, so on that note, an improvement over his 41.8 percent from the field since the start of January could be useful for fantasy managers.
Jan 15, 2024
Erupts for 28 points
Monk chipped in 28 points (9-21 FG, 4-9 3Pt, 6-10 FT), seven rebounds and seven assists over 36 minutes during Sunday's 143-142 overtime loss to the Bucks.
ANALYSIS
Keegan Murray left this game with a hip contusion and wasn't able to return, so Monk stepped up in a big way off the bench. This was his 12th game of the season with at least 20 points, and his second-highest scoring game of the campaign. He's been hot in January with averages of 18.4 points, 6.1 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 2.6 three-pointers, and he's been generating buzz as a Sixth Man of the Year contender.
Jan 13, 2024
Pops for 15 off bench
Monk accumulated 15 points (5-17 FG, 0-7 3Pt, 5-6 FT), one rebound, four assists, one block and two steals over 27 minutes off the bench during Friday's 112-93 loss to the 76ers.
ANALYSIS
The 25-year-old guard was the only member of the Kings' second unit to score in double digits. Monk has provided at least 15 points in seven of the last nine games, averaging an impressive 17.9 points, 6.1 assists, 2.6 boards, 2.6 threes, 1.0 blocks and 0.9 steals in 28.4 minutes a night over that stretch as he builds his case for the Sixth Man of the Year Award.
Jan 11, 2024
Hits 20-point mark off bench
Monk notched 20 points (6-13 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 7-7 FT), four rebounds, four assists and two blocks over 30 minutes during Wednesday's 123-98 victory over Charlotte.
ANALYSIS
Monk didn't have his best shooting performance and missed four of his five attempts from beyond the arc, but that might be the only blemish in his game in recent weeks. He has scored in double digits in six of his last eight appearances, reaching the 20-point mark four times and 18.3 points per game in that stretch. Monk is also shooting a strong 40.7 percent from three-point range this season, a figure that would rank as a career-best mark if he's able to maintain it throughout the entire campaign.
Jan 9, 2024
Leads bench with near double-double
Monk ended with 20 points (9-15 FG, 2-6 3Pt), two rebounds, nine assists, two blocks and one steal in 28 minutes during Tuesday's 131-110 victory over the Pistons.
ANALYSIS
Monk recorded nine assists in a game for the third time in his last four games, and he was one assist away from registering his second double-double on the year. He's been a streaky shooter at times this season, but he's had a good start to the New Year. Over his last five games, Monk is averaging 16.8 points, 2.0 rebounds, 6.8 assists, 1.0 blocks and 1.0 steals over 29.3 minutes per game.
Jan 6, 2024
Near double-double in win
Monk recorded 15 points (6-16 FG, 3-9 3Pt, 0-1 FT), one rebound, nine assists and one steal over 32 minutes during Friday's 135-130 win over the Raptors.
ANALYSIS
Monk has registered nine assists in each of his last two games, though he hasn't reached the double-digit mark since Nov. 8 against the Trail Blazers. Monk continues to provide a spark for the Kings' bench and is a candidate for the Sixth Man of the Year award. Over his last five games, Monk is averaging 20.0 points on 54.5 percent shooting (including 48.6 percent from three), 3.2 rebounds and 6.6 assists over 30.0 minutes per game.
Jan 4, 2024
Steps up late in season high
Monk produced 37 points (12-20 FG, 7-13 3Pt, 6-8 FT), three rebounds, nine assists, one block and two steals in 46 minutes during Wednesday's 138-135 double-overtime win over the Magic.
ANALYSIS
Monk led all players in Wednesday's contest in threes made while tallying a team-high and season-high scoring mark and ending one assist short of a double-double. Monk, who stepped up late in the game to send it into overtime, has connected on five or more threes in three games this year while scoring 30 or more points for the first time of the year.
Jan 1, 2024
Goes for 27 points
Monk totaled 27 points (10-13 FG, 4-5 3Pt, 3-3 FT), five rebounds and five assists in 21 minutes during Sunday's 123-92 victory over the Grizzlies.
ANALYSIS
Monk was brilliant on offense Sunday and rarely missed a shot from the field en route to his best scoring showing of the campaign. Monk has scored in double digits in six of his last eight appearances, averaging 14.0 points per game and shooting 36 percent from deep in that span.
Dec 29, 2023
Extended playing time in win
Monk finished Friday's 117-110 win over the Hawks with 15 points (6-10 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 1-1 FT), eight assists, four rebounds, one steal and one block over 31 minutes.
ANALYSIS
With starting shooting guard Kevin Huerter exiting Friday's contest with a hand injury, Monk's 31 minutes was his most since Dec. 14 against the Thunder. His 18 points was his most since Dec. 16 and was the first time since Dec. 11 that he shot 50 percent or better from the field. Depending on the severity of Huerter's injury, Monk should see extended playing time -- either from the bench or in a starting role -- if Huerter is to miss extended time with his injury.
Dec 26, 2023
Cleared to play
Monk (foot) is available for Tuesday's game against the Trail Blazers.
ANALYSIS
Monk has been upgraded from questionable to available and will play Tuesday after missing Saturday's loss to Minnesota. Over his last 14 appearances, Monk has averaged 15.4 points, 5.0 assists and 2.4 rebounds in 26.7 minutes per game.
Dec 25, 2023
Trending upward
Monk (foot) is questionable to play Tuesday against Portland.
ANALYSIS
Monk has dealt with right foot irritation for the past week, which forced him to miss Saturday's lost the Timberwolves. Chris Duarte and Trey Lyles operated with enlarged workouts Saturday, while Keon Ellis would be another candidate to help fill the void if Monk can't suit up Tuesday.
Dec 23, 2023
Officially out Saturday
Monk (foot) has been ruled out of Saturday's game against Minnesota, Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee reports.
ANALYSIS
The Kings downgraded Monk from questionable to doubtful prior to warmups, but now he's officially getting the night off. Saturday's game is the second leg of a back-to-back set, so the Kings will use this opportunity to get Monk's lingering foot issue some rest. Kevin Huerter, Chris Duarte and Keon Ellis are all candidates to see increased run.
Dec 23, 2023
Downgraded to doubtful
Monk (foot) has been downgraded to doubtful for Saturday's game against Minnesota.
ANALYSIS
Saturday's game is the second leg of a back-to-back set, and Monk has been battling irritation in his right foot for a few days. With Monk expected to sit, Kevin Huerter could be more involved for the Kings. Chris Duarte and Keon Ellis are candidates to see more run as well.
Dec 23, 2023
Iffy for tail end of back-to-back
Monk is questionable for Saturday's game against the Timberwolves with right foot irritation, Frankie Cartoscelli of KHTK Sactown Sports 1140 reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk's been on the injury report for the last two games with foot irritation and has been deemed questionable once again Saturday. Considering the Kings are on the second night of a back-to-back, Monk could be at higher risk of sitting. However, he's played 20 and 25 minutes in the last two games. If Monk misses Saturday's game, Davion Mitchell and Chris Duarte would likely be in line for more action while Colby Jones could crack the rotation.
Dec 22, 2023
Cleared to play
Monk (foot) has been cleared for Friday's game against the Suns.
ANALYSIS
No surprise here, as Monk already stated his intentions to play against the Suns after the morning shootaround. Monk has cooled off in recent games, and he's coming off a dud on Wednesday in which he scored 10 points on 3-of-10 shooting in 25 minutes.
Dec 22, 2023
Plans to play Friday
Monk (foot) is listed as questionable, but he plans to play Friday against the Suns, Mark Haynes of the Sacramento Observer reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk played through the foot issue Wednesday, totaling 10 points, five assists and two rebounds in 25 minutes, but he was sidelined for Thursday's practice, putting his status in doubt. Monk has yet to miss a game this season but is going through a slump right now, averaging just 12.8 points on 39.3 percent shooting over the Kings' past five games.
Dec 21, 2023
Misses practice Thursday
Monk (foot) didn't participate in Thursday's practice, Frankie Cartoscelli of KHTK Sactown Sports 1140 reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk continues to deal with foot irritation but has yet to miss a game this season. However, his absence from practice is a bad sign of his availability for Friday's matchup with Phoenix.
Dec 20, 2023
Good to go Wednesday
Monk (foot) is available for Wednesday's game versus the Celtics.
ANALYSIS
Monk has been upgraded from questionable to available Wednesday despite dealing with a right foot injury. Monk has been one of the NBA's best bench players this season, averaging 17.1 points, 5.5 assists and 2.3 rebounds in 27.3 minutes across his last 10 appearances.
Dec 20, 2023
Dealing with foot irritation
Monk is questionable for Wednesday's game against Boston due to right foot irritation.
ANALYSIS
Monk is a late addition to the injury report, which is never a good sign. If he can't suit up, Keon Ellis, Davion Mitchell, Chris Duarte and Sasha Vezenkov would be candidates for increased roles.
Dec 17, 2023
Posts 18 points in victory
Monk contributed 18 points (6-16 FG, 4-12 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, eight assists and one block over 26 minutes during Saturday's 125-104 win over the Jazz.
ANALYSIS
With De'Aaron Fox (shoulder) sidelined, Monk posted a solid number as a fill-on amid struggles from Keon Ellis after he failed to produce as Fox's replacement. Monk has emerged as one of the best sixth men in the league, and he's flexible enough to spell Fox, Kevin Huerter or Harrison Barnes off the bench.
Dec 11, 2023
Suiting up Monday
Monk (illness) is available Monday against Brooklyn, Frankie Cartoscelli of KHTK Sactown Sports 1140 reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk has appeared in all 20 of Sacramento's contests thus far, and his perfect attendance will continue Monday. Monk has delivered 19.2 points, 3.0 rebounds and 3.6 assists in 28.4 minutes over his last five games, while raining in 3.4 threes per game at 48.6 percent shooting from deep.
Dec 10, 2023
Dealing with illness
Monk is questionable for Monday's game against the Nets due to an illness.
ANALYSIS

Dec 5, 2023
Lights it up from deep off bench
Monk racked up 21 points (7-14 FG, 5-9 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds, five assists and two steals in 32 minutes during Monday's 127-117 loss to the Pelicans.
ANALYSIS
Monk led all bench players in Monday's game in scoring while connecting on a game-leading five threes and handing out a handful of assists in a losing effort. Monk has recorded at least 20 points in six games this season, including in three of his last four outings. He has connected on five or more threes in two games this year.
Dec 3, 2023
Pours in 26 points from bench
Monk closed Saturday's 123-117 victory over Denver with 26 points (9-14 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 4-4 FT), three rebounds, four assists and two steals in 28 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Monk continued to distinguish himself as Sacramento's sixth man during the win, logging his fifth consecutive double-digit total from the bench. Monk has been a pure scorer throughout his career, and while his secondary stats are rarely going to jump off the page, he can inflict swift damage when his shot is dialed in.
Nov 30, 2023
Active off bench despite loss
Monk recorded 15 points (3-8 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 7-7 FT), four rebounds and two assists across 28 minutes during Wednesday's 131-117 loss to the Clippers.
ANALYSIS
Monk continues to make a steady impact off the bench for the Kings, and despite his role, his scoring prowess is enough to make him relevant in fantasy, particularly for managers who are in dire need of a scoring punch. Monk has scored at least 15 points in three games in a row while netting in double digits in six of his last seven appearances.
Nov 29, 2023
Sinks basket to clinch win
Monk had 21 points (8-15 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal over 26 minutes during Tuesday's 124-123 victory over the Warriors.
ANALYSIS
Monk's late basket clinched the win as well as a berth in the quarterfinals of the In-Season Tournament, for the Kings, sealing the Group win with a 4-0 record. Although Monk's successes are a bit unpredictable, his multi-position eligibility in most fantasy formats make him a valuable commodity despite playing in the second unit for most of the season.
Nov 18, 2023
Approaches double-double off bench
Monk closed with 20 points (7-11 FG, 6-9 3Pt), four rebounds, eight assists and one steal over 26 minutes during Friday's 129-120 win over San Antonio.
ANALYSIS
Monk was held to a season-low three points during Wednesday's win over the Lakers, but he bounced back with an efficient showing from the floor Friday to score at least 20 points for the third time this year. He's been reliable in multiple areas recently, averaging 14.2 points, 7.0 assists and 4.4 rebounds in 26.4 minutes per game over his last five appearances.
Nov 16, 2023
Struggles in win
Monk contributed three points (1-8 FG, 1-5 3Pt), five rebounds, five assists and one steal in 21 minutes during Wednesday's 125-110 victory over the Lakers.
ANALYSIS
Monk failed to score in double figures Wednesday after doing so in each of his previous three appearances. While the 25-year-old guard struggled with his outshot shot against the Lakers, he is shooting 35.1 percent on 5.7 three-point attempts per game on the season. Monk has solidified himself as Sacramento's sixth man.
Nov 14, 2023
Stays productive in Fox's return
Monk provided 13 points (4-8 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds, four assists, one steal and one block across 26 minutes in Monday's 132-120 win over the Cavaliers.
ANALYSIS
Monk saw a slight downturn in playing time after logging 30- and 29-minute workloads in the Kings' last two contests, but he still maintained a healthy role as the team's sixth man while point guard De'Aaron Fox (ankle) made his return from a five-game absence. Though the Kings are likely to keep Monk on the second unit, he should retain utility in 12-team leagues if he's able to stick in a consistent 25-to-30-minute role. He's averaging 14.2 points, 5.4 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 triples in 23.9 minutes over his first nine contests this season.

Provides offensive spark in win
Monk ended with 23 points (4-16 FG, 0-7 3Pt, 15-19 FT), six rebounds, 10 assists and one steal in 30 minutes during Wednesday's 121-118 overtime win over the Trail Blazers.
ANALYSIS
Monk didn't have the best shooting night, but his aggressive play earned him a whopping 19 free-throw attempts, draining 15 of them. He also excelled as a ball distributor, outdoing Keon Ellis and Davion Mitchell as the primary absorber of De'Aaron Fox's (ankle) missing output.
Nov 4, 2023
Brings energy off bench
Monk recorded 18 points (6-13 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 3-4 FT), three rebounds, seven assists and one block in 26 minutes during Saturday's 107-89 loss to Houston.
ANALYSIS
Monk was one of the few productive players for the Kings in a game where the offense struggled massively, and while he won't be able to replace De'Aaron Fox (ankle) when he's out, at the very least, he brought energy off the bench at a time where the starters looked outmatched. Monk's offensive ability is well-known around the league, and even though he's tipped to remain a bench option for the foreseeable future, his elite three-point shooting and solid offensive game make him valuable in most formats.
Nov 2, 2023
Logs 16 points from bench
Monk ended Wednesday's 102-101 loss to the Warriors with 16 points (5-9 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 3-3 FT), three rebounds, two assists and two blocks in 25 minutes.
ANALYSIS
the Kings elected to start Davion Mitchell in place of De'Aaron Fox.(ankle), but Monk stepped in early and helped to absorb some of Fox's missing output. Mitchell is more suited to the point guard role, but Monk is a multi-dimensional slasher who can fit into a few different spots in Sacramento's rotation.
Oct 30, 2023
Pours in 22 points
Monk racked up 22 points (7-17 FG, 4-9 3Pt, 4-5 FT), three rebounds and three assists across 25 minutes during Sunday's 132-127 overtime win over the Lakers.
ANALYSIS
This was Monk's best performance of the young season after averaging 9.5 points in his previous two outings. The Kings are going to put more on Monk's plate offensively in the short term, as De'Aaron Fox is expected to miss some time with an ankle sprain.
Oct 20, 2023
Impressive off bench Thursday
Monk finished with 23 points (9-19 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds, eight assists and a block across 29 minutes off the bench in Thursday's 116-113 preseason win over the Jazz.
ANALYSIS
Monk saved his best performance for the final game of the preseason, as he carried the Kings to victory with an impressive outing, leading the team in both points and assists. Kevin Huerter is slated to open the season as the Kings' starting shooting guard, but Monk should see steady minutes off the bench as an offensive option that can play multiple positions. For what is worth, he averaged 13.5 points per game while coming off the bench in his 77 appearances during the 2022-23 reegular season, and he figures to have a similar role this time around.
Oct 9, 2023
Dishes out four dimes
Monk compiled two points (0-4 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 2-3 FT), four assists, two rebounds and one steal in 15 minutes during Sunday's 112-99 preseason loss to the Raptors.
ANALYSIS
Monk saw his fair share of playing time to begin the preseason, and he finished second on the team in assists despite coming off the bench. The 25-year-old's production remained relatively steady during his first year with the Kings last season, as he averaged 13.5 points, 3.9 assists and 2.6 rebounds in 22.3 minutes per game over 77 appearances.
Apr 30, 2023
Flirts with double-double in loss
Monk provided 14 points (4-14 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 4-5 FT), nine rebounds and four assists in 31 minutes during Sunday's 120-100 loss to the Warriors in Game 7 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals.
ANALYSIS
Monk's playoff contributions were critical to the Kings's success, and the Kentucky product was one of the best sixth-men in the quarterfinals. Monk averaged 19.0 points, 5.4 rebounds and 4.0 assists in the series against the Warriors. The 25-year-old has one more year on his contract with the Kings, and after beating out Davion Mitchell and Terence Davis for bench minutes, his place in the second unit should be on solid ground next season.
Apr 29, 2023
Goes for 28 points in win
Monk posted 28 points (8-14 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 9-10 FT), seven rebounds, four assists, two blocks and one steal across 32 minutes during Friday's 118-99 win over the Warriors in Game 6 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals.
ANALYSIS
Outside of a subpar four-point performance in Game 3, Monk has been outstanding in the series and has scored in double digits in each of the other five games, including posting back-to-back games with at least 20 points in the last two. Monk is averaging 19.8 points per contest while shooting 35.5 percent from deep in the series.
Apr 27, 2023
Goes for 21 points off bench
Monk notched 21 points (6-14 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 8-10 FT), five rebounds, three assists and two steals over 29 minutes during Wednesday's 123-116 loss to the Warriors in Game 5 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals.
ANALYSIS
Monk didn't have the most efficient outing Wednesday, but he still ended as one of the Kings' top scorers in this heartbreaking loss. Monk has been a reliable scoring weapon for Sacramento, clearing the 15-point plateau off the bench in four of the five contests of the series so far. Game 6 will be played Friday at Chase Center.
Apr 18, 2023
Scores 18 points off bench
Monk racked up 18 points (6-15 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 3-4 FT), six rebounds, three assists and one block in 31 minutes during Monday's 114-106 win over the Warriors in Game 2 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals.
ANALYSIS
Monk struggled with his efficiency and wasn't able to replicate his 32-point explosion from Game 1, but he still provided quality production off the bench. Despite operating as a reserve, Monk has seen starter-level playing time, while Keegan Murray has been held to under 20 minutes in each of the first two games of the opening-round series.
Apr 15, 2023
Brilliant from bench
Monk registered 32 points (8-13 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 14-14 FT), three rebounds and two assists in 29 minutes during Saturday's 126-123 victory over the Warriors in Game 1 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals.
ANALYSIS
Monk did a little bit of everything in the Game 1 win, providing significant offensive muscle throughout. Most notably, he was perfect from the charity stripe, converting 14 free-throw attempts. A leg injury hampered Monk's production toward the end of the season, but he had a run of five straight double-digit scoring performances during the final two weeks of in-season play. If Game 1 is any indication, Monk could be the second-best producer for the Kings moving forward.
Apr 9, 2023
Available to play
Monk (leg) will be available to play Sunday against the Nuggets, Chris Biderman of The Sacramento Bee reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk is back after a one-game absence, so he should see his usual minutes with the reserves. With Monk active, Terence Davis and P.J. Dozier won't play as much.
Apr 8, 2023
Status uncertain Sunday
Monk (lower leg) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Nuggets.
ANALYSIS
Monk missed Friday's game with soreness in his left leg and is at risk of also missing Sunday's tilt. If that were to be the case, Terence Davis and Davion Mitchell (knee) could see more action off the bench.
Apr 7, 2023
Downgraded to out
Monk (left lower leg soreness) has been ruled out against the Warriors on Friday.
ANALYSIS
Monk was upgraded to available from questionable on Friday evening, so this downgrade comes as a surprise to fantasy managers. He will join Kevin Huerter (knee), De'Aaron Fox (ankle) and Domantas Sabonis (ankle) on the sidelines. With Monk out, we could see Davion Mitchell and Terence Davis get significant run against the Warriors.
Apr 7, 2023
Gets the green light
Monk (leg) will be available to play Friday against the Warriors according to John Dickinson of 95.7 The Game San Francisco.
ANALYSIS
The Kings will be without De'Aaron Fox (ankle), Domantas Sabonis (ankle) and Kevin Huerter (knee), so Monk will likely have the keys to the offense Friday night. There's no telling what his minutes will look like though, as the Kings are not playing for much in this contest with homecourt advantage locked up.
Apr 6, 2023
Questionable Friday
Monk is questionable to play Friday versus the Warriors due to some soreness in his left lower leg.
ANALYSIS
Davion Mitchell (knee), Kevin Huerter (leg) and De'Aaron Fox (ankle) are also questionable for Friday's game, and if all these guys are forced to the sidelines, Terence Davis and P.J. Dozier would be slated for some major minutes. Monk managers can expect to get official word on his status closer to Friday's tip.
Apr 5, 2023
Drops 17 points in return
Monk totaled 17 points (6-9 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 3-4 FT), two rebounds, three assists and two steals across 23 minutes during Tuesday's 121-103 victory over New Orleans.
ANALYSIS
Monk returned from a one-game absence, leading the bench with 17 points in just 23 minutes. He added a pair of steals for good measure, making this fruitful evening for anyone who happened to squeeze him into their roster. While he does present as a viable 12-team option on most nights, his minutes do tend to fluctuate based on the productivity of others. The Kings are but assured the third seed, meaning they may opt to rest a couple of big names down the stretch. Should that be the case, Monk could land a more sizeable role, boosting his overall fantasy appeal.
Apr 4, 2023
Good to go against Pelicans
Monk (lower leg) is available for Tuesday's game versus New Orleans, James Ham of ESPN 1320 Sacramento reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk has been upgraded from questionable to available Tuesday with left lower leg soreness. He is averaging 13.6 points, 3.8 assists, 3.0 rebounds in 22.0 minutes across his last 10 appearances.
Apr 4, 2023
Partakes in shootaround Tuesday
Monk (lower leg) participated in morning shootaround Tuesday, Chris Biderman of The Sacramento Bee reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk sat out Sunday's game and was listed as questionable for Tuesday due to left lower leg soreness, but things seem to be trending in the right direction for his return ahead of Tuesday's affair. The team should clarify his status ahead of the 8 p.m. ET opening tipoff, but Monk should slot in as a prime scoring option off the bench again if given the green light.
Apr 3, 2023
Questionable Tuesday
Monk (leg) is questionable for Tuesday's game in New Orleans.
ANALYSIS
Monk sat out Sunday's game with some soreness in his leg, which resulted in some extra minutes for Kessler Edwards and Terence Davis. If he's out again, it'll be more of the same, but we'll get official word on Monk's status closer to Tuesday's tip.
Apr 2, 2023
Late scratch Sunday
Monk won't play against the Spurs due to lower leg soreness, Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk wasn't on the Kings' injury report for Sunday's matchup, and the team didn't indicate before tipoff that he was in danger of sitting. However, his absence could lead to additional minutes for Terence Davis and Davion Mitchell.
Apr 1, 2023
Pops for 20 points off bench
Monk ended with 20 points (8-12 FG, 4-7 3Pt), two rebounds, five assists, one block and one steal across 25 minutes during Friday's 138-114 win over the Trail Blazers.
ANALYSIS
After three straight single-digit performances, Monk has now scored at least 10 points in three consecutive contests, including back-to-back games with at least five assists. Monk's 20 points Friday tied De'Aaron Fox, Domantas Sabonis and Keegan Murray for the team high and marked his highest-scoring output since he dropped a career-high 45 points against the Clippers on Feb. 24.
Mar 30, 2023
Scores 19 points off bench
Monk accumulated 19 points (6-12 FG, 5-9 3Pt, 2-2 FT), six rebounds, six assists and one steal across 22 minutes during Wednesday's 120-80 victory over the Trail Blazers.
ANALYSIS
Monk got hot from deep and finished with a team-high 19 points off the bench. Coming into the contest, the sharpshooter was shooting just 31.3 percent over his past four appearances, so it was certainly a solid bounce-back performance against the lowly Trail Blazers. Across 14 March appearances, Monk has averaged 12.1 points and 4.1 assists in 21.0 minutes.
Mar 28, 2023
Scores 12 points off bench
Monk finished Monday's 119-115 loss to the Timberwolves with 12 points (4-13 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 4-4 FT), one rebound and three assists across 27 minutes.
ANALYSIS
After a run of seven double-digit scoring outings over eight games, Monk failed to reach that plateau in three straight contests heading into Monday's matchup. He struggled with his shot again and failed to hit a three-pointer, but he still got back into double figures thanks to a perfect night at the free-throw line. Monk's inconsistent scoring production makes him a risky fantasy play during the final weeks of the regular season.
Mar 25, 2023
Gets ejected Saturday
Monk was ejected from Saturday's game against the Jazz, Sean Cunningham of Fox 40 Sacramento reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk was fouled when attempting a dunk, but there was no call, and he went straight to argue with the official, so the ejection was the only way to go. He ends his night with eight points, a rebound, an assist, a steal and a block across 10 minutes off the bench.
Mar 21, 2023
Scores 15 points in loss
Monk posted 15 points (4-15 FG, 3-12 3Pt, 4-5 FT), three rebounds, three assists and one steal in 24 minutes during Monday's 128-120 loss to the Jazz.
ANALYSIS
Monk didn't have his best shooting performance and was woeful from beyond the arc, but he still posted a decent stat line based on his volume. Monk has been playing well of late and has scored in double digits in all but one of his last eight appearances, putting up 14.6 points per game off the bench in that span.
Mar 16, 2023
Strong from deep in balanced game
Monk chipped in 12 points (3-11 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 3-4 FT), five rebounds and six assists in 29 minutes during Thursday's 101-96 victory over Brooklyn.
ANALYSIS
Monk led the Kings bench in scoring and rebounds while leading the team in assists to go along with a team-high-tying mark from three. Monk has posted at least 10 points, five rebounds and five assists in five games this year.
Mar 16, 2023
Scores 19 points off bench
Monk racked up 19 points (6-10 FG, 5-8 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, three assists, one block and one steal over 24 minutes during Wednesday's 117-114 win over the Bulls.
ANALYSIS
Monk sank at least five triples for just the third time this season and scored in double figures for the fourth time over his past five appearances. During that stretch, the veteran sharpshooter is averaging 14.6 points, 3.8 assists, 3.2 rebounds, 1.0 steals and 0.6 blocks in 20.2 minutes with 55/61/77 shooting splits.
Mar 12, 2023
Helps lead balanced attack in win
Monk contributed 18 points (5-10 FG, 4-6 3Pt, 4-5 FT), four rebounds, five assists, one block and two steals in 25 minutes during Saturday's 128-119 victory over Phoenix.
ANALYSIS
Monk was one of seven players in double figures during Saturday's win, and the balanced group helped to chip away at a Phoenix advantage throughout the second half, resulting in a decisive win. Monk had now recorded three consecutive double-digit scoring totals.
Mar 10, 2023
Reemerges with 19 points Thursday
Monk finished Thursday's 122-117 victory over the Knicks with 19 points (6-10 FG, 4-6 3Pt, 3-3 FT), five rebounds, five assists and one block across 20 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Monk went wild with a 45-point performance Feb. 24, but he came into Thursday averaging just 8.4 points on 42.3 percent shooting over his subsequent five contests. The veteran guard bounced back with a solid all-around effort against New York, knocking down four triples and finishing with a 19/5/5 line. Monk has shown the ability to put up big numbers at times this season, but his fantasy viability has been shaky lately due, in part, to inconsistent playing time. Over his past six games, he's averaging a modest 18.3 minutes.
Feb 25, 2023
Erupts for 45 points in win
Monk ended with 45 points (15-24 FG, 6-12 3Pt, 9-10 FT), two rebounds and six assists across 41 minutes during Friday's 176-175 double-overtime win over the Clippers.
ANALYSIS
With 45 points in the double overtime thriller, Monk surpassed his previous career high of 41 points which he set back in April of 2022. Monk has been outstanding for the Kings and fantasy managers lately, posting top-80 value in 9-category leagues over his last 10 games with 18.7 points, 3.8 assists, 2.9 rebounds, 0.9 steals and 2.0 three-pointers.
Feb 24, 2023
Scores 15 in return
Monk logged 15 points (6-10 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 2-4 FT), three rebounds and two assists across 21 minutes during Thursday's 133-116 win over the Trail Blazers.
ANALYSIS
Monk (right ankle sprain) returned from a two-game absence and picked up right where he left off. However, his minutes were cut short Thursday due to the lopsided score. Prior to getting hurt, Monk was consistently seeing minutes in the mid-to-high 20s and was a reliable source of points, three-pointers and assists for fantasy managers. Look for that trend to continue.
Feb 21, 2023
Will play Thursday
Monk (ankle) practiced Tuesday and said he'll be ready for Thursday against the Blazers according to Jason Anderson of the Sacramento Bee.
ANALYSIS
The shooting guard missed the final two games before the All-Star break but was able to get plenty of rest this week. Prior to the injury, Monk was seeing minutes in the 20s and provided fantasy managers with plenty of points, three-pointers and assists. His return will mean less minutes and touches for Terence Davis.
Feb 13, 2023
Will be re-evaluated after break
Monk (ankle) won't play Tuesday against the Suns and will be re-evaluated after the All-Star break, Kings media member Frankie Cartoscelli reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk suffered the right ankle sprain against the Mavericks on Friday and was unavailable Saturday. He's now been ruled out for Kings' final game before the All-Star break, but there doesn't appear to be too much concern with the injury, as head coach Mike Brown said Monday that he doesn't expect Monk to be out too long. Terence Davis, who exploded for 22 points off the bench in Sacramento's previous contest, figures to be the primary beneficiary of Monk's absence.
Feb 13, 2023
Doesn't practice Monday
Monk (ankle) didn't practice Monday, James Ham of ESPN 1320 Sacramento reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk sustained an ankle injury Friday against the Mavericks and was unavailable for Saturday's rematch. He was able to get some shots up Monday despite not practicing, but it's unclear whether he'll suit up Tuesday against the Suns. If the 25-year-old is held out Tuesday, he'll have a week and a half to rest during the All-Star break.
Feb 11, 2023
Sitting out Saturday
Monk (ankle) will miss Saturday's game versus the Mavericks.
ANALYSIS
Monk departed Friday's game versus the Mavericks with an ankle injury and was unable to return, so it's not big surprise that he'll sit out a game just 24 hours later. Monk's next opportunity to rejoin the starting five arrives Tuesday against the Suns. His absence should leave some spare backcourt minutes for other guards in the rotation.
Feb 10, 2023
Will not return
Monk will not return to Friday's game against the Mavericks due to an ankle injury, Kings reporter Matt George reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk recorded eight points (3-7 FG, 0-2 3PT, 2-2 FT), two rebounds four assists and one block across 15 minutes before exiting the game. His status for Saturday's second leg of a back-to-back set against Dalls is now looking uncertain.
Feb 7, 2023
Scores 20 points off bench
Monk closed with 20 points (6-12 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 4-4 FT), one rebound and two assists over 22 minutes during Monday's 140-120 win over Houston.
ANALYSIS
Monk has been on a tear of late and continues to produce off the bench, reaching the 20-point mark for the second time this month while extending his streak of double-digit scoring games to six contests. The veteran is averaging 13.5 points per game off the bench this season, which is a similar figure to the numbers he posted last season with the Lakers while holding a starting role.
Feb 5, 2023
Leading scorer off bench in loss
Monk provided 16 points (7-13 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, three assists and one steal in 24 minutes during Sunday's 136-104 loss to New Orleans.
ANALYSIS
Monk led all Kings players in scoring, coming off the bench with a 15-point showing during Sunday's blowout loss. Monk has scored 15 or more points in three of his last five outings.
Feb 2, 2023
Racks up 22 points off bench
Monk racked up 22 points (8-13 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 4-4 FT), three rebounds, five assists and three steals over 33 minutes during Wednesday's 119-109 victory over the Spurs.
ANALYSIS
Monk had a solid first half with eight points on 3-of-6 shooting from the field to go along with two assists and two steals. However, the shooting guard really found his legs after the break, knocking down five of seven field goal attempts for another 14 points, 10 of which came in the fourth quarter to help Sacramento close out the Spurs. Monk's 22 points on the night were the most he's scored in a contest since Dec. 28 and he's now shot above 60 percent from the floor in three straight.
Jan 30, 2023
Strong two-way effort Monday
Monk closed Monday's 118-111 overtime win over the Timberwolves with 19 points (9-14 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 1-1 FT), two rebounds, five assists and three steals in 32 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Monk had his best game in over a month, producing on both ends of the floor in the overtime victory. After a strong start to the season, Monk has cooled over the past month, sitting outside the top 200 in standard formats. His playing time has flip-flopped from game to game, ranging from 11 minutes, all the way up to the 32 which he saw Monday. He is someone to monitor moving forward but managers don't need to be scrambling to the wire to add him based on this effort.
Jan 24, 2023
Approaches triple-double in win
Monk supplied 13 points (5-9 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 1-1 FT), nine rebounds and eight assists over 24 minutes during Monday's 133-100 victory over the Grizzlies.
ANALYSIS
Monk was one of six Kings to finish with double-digit scoring in the contest, but his most impressive work came in other areas. The reserve guard grabbed a season-high nine boards and tied his top mark of the campaign with eight assists to help Sacramento to a sizable victory. Monk had been struggling mightily entering the contest, averaging just 4.5 points, 3.8 dimes and 2.5 rebounds while shooting a miserable 20.7 percent from the field over his previous four contests.
Jan 19, 2023
Limited impact off bench
Monk closed with two points (1-9 FG, 0-3 3Pt), three rebounds, two assists and one block across 11 minutes during Wednesday's 116-111 victory over the Lakers.
ANALYSIS
Although Monk saw a slight uptick in field-goal attempts during Wednesday's matchup, he was inefficient from the floor and scored below 10 points for a second consecutive game. He's logged single-digit scoring totals in four of his eight appearances this month and has averaged 9.1 points, 3.6 assists and 3.0 rebounds in 18.5 minutes per game during that time.
Jan 8, 2023
Left off injury report
Monk (calf) isn't on the injury report for Monday's game versus the Magic, Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk should be good to go Monday after missing the previous game with left calf soreness. His return should result in decreased playing time for Kevin Huerter and De'Aaron Fox.
Jan 7, 2023
Out Saturday
Monk (calf) is out Saturday against the Lakers, James Ham of ESPN 1320 Sacramento reports.
ANALYSIS
Saturday marks Monk's first absence of the season. More minutes could be in store for Davion Mitchell and Terence Davis.
Jan 7, 2023
Misses practice again
Monk (calf) didn't participate in Saturday's practice an is a game-time decision against the Lakers, Brenden Nunes of The Sacramento Bee reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk's injury isn't considered to be serious, but his absence from practice two days in a row isn't a good sign of his availability. If he can't suit up Saturday, his next chance to play is Monday's game versus Orlando.
Jan 7, 2023
Officially questionable Saturday
Monk (calf) is considered questionable for Saturday's game versus the Lakers.
ANALYSIS
Monk didn't participate in practice Friday, but his questionable designation suggests he could avoid missing action. The team should update his status at some point on game day.
Jan 6, 2023
Sits out practice Friday
Monk didn't partake in practice Friday due to left calf soreness, James Ham of ESPN 1320 Sacramento reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk's status for Saturday's clash with the Lakers is unclear, but the team's injury report later in the day should provide a clearer picture of his chances of suiting up. If he can't go, Terence Davis and Davion Mitchell could be among the candidates to see some minutes.
Jan 3, 2023
Active Tuesday
Monk (shoulder) is active Tuesday against Utah, Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee reports.
ANALYSIS
Although being tabbed questionable with a shoulder injury, Monk will be available for the Kings on Tuesday. The guard is averaging 14.6 points and 3.9 assists so far this year.
Jan 2, 2023
Questionable Tuesday
Monk is questionable for Tuesday's contest against Utah due to right shoulder soreness, Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk has appeared in each of Sacramento's first 35 games this season but is uncertain for Tuesday's matchup against the Jazz. If the Kentucky product is unable to suit up, his next chance to take the floor comes Wednesday against the Hawks.
Jan 1, 2023
Set to play Sunday
Monk (wrist) will be available for Sunday's game at Memphis.
ANALYSIS
Monk was added to the injury report with some soreness in his wrist, but he'll be available Sunday and extend his streak of consecutive games played to 67. Monk is coming off of a nine-point showing in 19 minutes off the bench Friday against Utah, but prior to that he erupted for 33 points in 30 minutes in a win over Denver.
Dec 31, 2022
Added to injury report
Monk is listed as questionable for Sunday's meeting with Memphis due to soreness in his right wrist, Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk is in danger of missing his first game of the season Sunday with wrist pain. If he were to sit, Terence Davis would be in line for an expanded workload.
Dec 29, 2022
Explode for season-high 32 points
Monk notched 33 points (12-21 FG, 4-8 3Pt, 5-6 FT), two rebounds, three assists and one steal across 30 minutes during Wednesday's 127-126 victory over Denver.
ANALYSIS
Monk was tremendous in the victory, popping for a season-high 32 points. After failing to score more than 16 points in five straight games, this was a welcome sight for anyone patient enough to sit tight. His role is relatively secure, despite coming off the bench, making him a viable target in 12-team leagues, especially for anyone in need of points and triples.
Dec 24, 2022
Posts strong stat line in loss
Monk supplied 16 points (4-11 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 6-6 FT), five rebounds, four assists and two steals in 27 minutes during Friday's 125-111 loss to the Wizards.
ANALYSIS
Monk wasn't very efficient from the field, but he was still able to finish third on Sacramento with 16 points. The veteran guard made his mark elsewhere as well, notching five boards, four dimes and a team-high two steals. Monk has been a bit up-and-down this season, but he's on pace for career-best per-game averages in points (14.3) and assists (4.0).
Dec 15, 2022
Efficient from long range
Monk registered 24 points (6-13 FG, 5-10 3Pt, 7-8 FT), three rebounds and three assists in 33 minutes during Wednesday's 124-123 victory over the Raptors.
ANALYSIS
Monk came off the bench once again Wednesday, but he played a season-high 33 minutes and knocked down a season-high five shots from three-point range. He's scored 20-plus points in four of his last nine appearances and has averaged 17.8 points, 3.3 assists and 2.7 rebounds in 24.6 minutes per game during that time.
Dec 14, 2022
Solid numbers off bench
Monk closed Tuesday's 123-103 loss to Philadelphia with 16 points (4-10 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 7-7 FT), three rebounds, four assists and one steal in 24 minutes off the bench.
ANALYSIS
He was the Kings' second-leading scorer on the night behind Domantas Sabonis' 22, but the team was never really in the game, getting blown out 80-55 in the first half. Monk has dropped 16 or more points in five of the last eight games and failed to score in double digits only once, averaging 17.0 points, 3.4 assists, 2.6 boards, 2.0 threes and 0.9 steals over that stretch.
Dec 10, 2022
Lackluster outing
Monk amassed nine points (4-8 FG, 1-5 3Pt) and one rebound over 22 minutes during Friday's 106-95 victory over the Cavaliers.
ANALYSIS
Monk let down fantasy managers who may have been expecting an expanded role for the guard with De'aaron Fox (foot) sidelined Friday. However, Sacramento opted to give Matthew Dellavadova the majority of backup point guard minutes. Monk has averaged 14.5 points and 4.0 assists in 22.5 minutes per game across 24 appearances.
Dec 8, 2022
Scores in double digits again
Monk provided 16 points (7-19 FG, 1-7 3Pt, 1-1 FT), six rebounds and one assist across 29 minutes during Wednesday's 126-113 loss to the Bucks.
ANALYSIS
Monk has been a consistent performer off the bench for Sacramento, scoring in double digits in five straight contests while reaching the 20-point mark thrice in that span. The six-year guard is having a career-best season off the bench for the Kings, averaging 14.8 points per game while shooting 52.1 percent from the field. That figure improves to 18.3 points per tilt when factoring his last 10 outings.
Dec 5, 2022
Leads team off bench
Monk finished with a team-high 20 points (8-16 FG, 3-9 3Pt, 1-1 FT) and added five assists, two rebounds and two steals across 24 minutes in Sunday's 110-101 win over the Bulls.
ANALYSIS
On a night that the Kings' starting backcourt of De'Aaron Fox and Kevin Huerter combined to shoot 10-for-32 from the field and 3-for-18 from downtown, Monk stepped up to fill the scoring void. Though he continues to fill a bench role for Sacramento, Monk has routinely provided an excellent scoring burst off the bench with four 20-plus-point performances in his last six outings. He's supplemented the point production with at least four assists in four of those games and at least one steal on five occasions.
Dec 1, 2022
Posts another big scoring output
Monk produced 20 points (6-9 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 5-6 FT), four rebounds, six assists and two steals in 20 minutes during Wednesday's 137-114 victory over Indiana.
ANALYSIS
Monk took only nine shots Wednesday but still finished second on the team with 20 points. It was his fifth game of 20-plus points this season, three of which have come over his past four contests. Monk has shot very well over that stretch, making 60.7 percent of his field-goal attempts , including 37.5 percent of his three-point tries.
Nov 29, 2022
Explodes for team-high 30 points
Monk recorded 30 points (12-17 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 4-4 FT), one rebound, eight assists and one steal across 30 minutes during Monday's 122-117 loss to the Suns.
ANALYSIS
Monk put up a point per minute for his best scoring effort of the season, eclipsing his 27-point performance just five days earlier. The sharpshooter also tied a season high with eight assists in his best game of the campaign. Monk's scoring has been somewhat inconsistent this season, but he's nonetheless on pace for career-best marks of 14.3 points and 4.3 dimes per contest.
Nov 24, 2022
Season-high 27 points off bench
Monk closed Wednesday's 115-106 loss to Atlanta with 27 points (12-18 FG, 3-7 3Pt), four assists and two steals over 26 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Monk provided a big spark off the bench for the Kings on Wednesday, racking up 15 first-half points on 7-of-9 shooting and later going 3-of-3 for seven points in the fourth quarter. He shot 66.7 percent from the field in the contest, matching his best shooting percentage in a game this season while also recording a game and season-high 27 points. Despite the excellent night from Monk, the Kings still saw their seven-game winning streak come to an end after falling too far behind early.
Nov 20, 2022
Ejected from Sunday's game
Monk was ejected from Sunday's game against the Pistons in the fourth quarter after being assessed his second technical foul, Mike Curtis of The Detroit News reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk shoved Killian Hayes following a layup in the fourth quarter and was tossed from the matchup since he was issued his second technical foul. Prior to his departure, he posted eight points (3-6 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three assists, two steals and a rebound in 19 minutes. It seems unlikely that his ejection will lead to a suspension, so he'll likely be available Tuesday in Memphis.
Nov 20, 2022
Upgraded to available
Monk (mouth) is available for Sunday's matchup against the Pistons, James Ham of ESPN 1320 Sacramento reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk missed Saturday's practice and was initially listed as questionable following a dental procedure, but the sharpshooter won't miss any game action. Last time out, Monk came off the bench and scored a season-high 26 points (11-19 FG) in 28 minutes, marking his second game with at least 20 points this season.
Nov 19, 2022
Questionable Sunday
Monk is questionable for Sunday's game against the Pistons after having a dental procedure, Sean Cunningham of ABC 10 Sacramento reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk was unable to participate in Saturday's practice as he recovers from the procedure, leaving his availability up in the air for Sunday. If he were to miss, Terence Davis would be in line to see an expanded workload.
Nov 18, 2022
Goes off for 26 points Thursday
Monk finished with 26 points (11-19 FG, 4-9 3Pt), four rebounds and two assists over 28 minutes during Thursday's 130-112 victory over the Spurs.
ANALYSIS
Monk nearly matched De'Aaron Fox (28 points) for team high-scoring honors despite coming off the bench and playing four fewer minutes. Monk got to his season-high point total on the strength of an efficient shooting performance that included a 4-for-9 mark from three-point range. He's been somewhat inconsistent this season but has now scored double-digit points in seven of his past eight contests.
Nov 9, 2022
Available Wednesday
Monk (groin) is available for Wednesday's game against Cleveland, James Ham of ESPN 1320 Sacramento reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk was questionable ahead of Wednesday's matchup due to right groin soreness, but the Kings will be at full strength against the Cavaliers. Over his last three appearances, he's averaged 19.3 points and 5.3 assists in 27.3 minutes per game.
Nov 8, 2022
Deemed questionable Wednesday
Monk is listed as questionable for Wednesday's game against Cleveland due to right groin soreness.
ANALYSIS
Monk likely picked up the injury sometime during his season-best 24-point performance against the Warriors on Monday. If the guard is unable to give it a go Wednesday, Terence Davis will presumably see an uptick in minutes versus the Cavs.
Nov 8, 2022
Impressive off bench Monday
Monk provided 24 points (7-16 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 7-7 FT), six rebounds, four assists and one steal over 31 minutes during Monday's 116-113 loss to the Warriors.
ANALYSIS
Monk can get hot on any given game, and while his efforts were not enough to lift the Kings to a victory against the reigning champions, at least it'll go down as his best scoring output of the season. It's hard to trust Monk in standard formats due to his bench role, but he seems to be trending in the right direction and has now scored at least 15 points in each of his last three contests.
Nov 3, 2022
Scores 19 off bench
Monk finished with 19 points (8-13 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 1-1 FT), seven assists and one block in 22 minutes during Wednesday's 110-107 loss to Miami.
ANALYSIS
Monk bounced back with a solid effort off the bench on Wednesday night after going just 2-of-9 from the field in his previous contest. The Kings shooting guard recorded seven first-half points on 3-of-6 shooting, but it was in the third quarter when he really made his presence felt, either scoring or assisting for field goals on four consecutive possessions after entering the game for Kevin Huerter. Monk has now scored in double figures in three of his last five games.
Oct 24, 2022
Blossoms in win
Monk produced 16 points (6-15 FG, 4-10 3Pt), seven rebounds, eight assists and three steals over 29 minutes during Sunday's 130-125 loss to Golden State.
ANALYSIS
Monk boomed after a cold two games to begin the season. Although he benefitted from Davion Mitchell picking up three fouls in his first foul minutes of action, Monk's production was excellent. It could prove wise to bear with Monk as he adjusts to a new offense. His usage is a trend to monitor.
Oct 14, 2022
Starting Friday
Monk is starting at shooting guard in Friday's preseason game against the Lakers, James Ham of ESPN 1320 Sacramento reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk is gettin the starting nod over Kevin Huerter (ankle). He is expected to provide a spark off the bench and add backcourt depth once the regular season tips off.
Jun 30, 2022
Signs with Kings in free agency
Monk and the Kings agreed to terms on a two-year, $19 million contract Thursday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk was one of a flurry of transactions to break just as free agency began Thursday night, and he'll cash in after playing last season on a prove-it deal with the Lakers. The 2017 lottery pick fared well in LA, averaging a career-high 13.8 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 0.8 steals in 28.1 minutes per game. He'll enter a less-chaotic environment in Sacramento, where he'll primarily compete with 2021 first-rounder Davion Mitchell for minutes at both guard spots.
Apr 8, 2022
Drops 24 points in loss
Monk logged 24 points (8-17 FG, 3-9 3Pt, 5-6 FT), seven rebounds, four assists, two blocks and one steal in 37 minutes during Thursday's 128-112 loss to Golden State.
ANALYSIS
Los Angeles played without most of its regular starters in the contest, handing players like Monk and Talen Horton-Tucker (40 points) the reigns on offense. Monk registered his best scoring effort since March 29 and handed out a team-best four assists. The fifth-year guard is averaging 17.9 points, 4.6 dimes, 3.4 boards and 2.5 three-pointers over his past eight games.
Apr 6, 2022
Logs only 18 minutes
Monk recorded seven points (3-7 FG, 1-2 3Pt), three rebounds and five assists over 18 minutes during Tuesday's 121-110 loss to the Suns.
ANALYSIS
Monk has helped the Lakers through some difficult times this season, but he's had a lot of trouble finding scoring opportunities recently. His primary problem is shot volume, as he's attempted only 16 shots over the past two games. He also took a seat early in Tuesday's loss, which is another contributing factor to his sagging fantasy production.
Apr 3, 2022
Scoring regression continues
Monk had 11 points (5-9 FG, 1-3 3Pt), three rebounds and six assists in 33 minutes during Sunday's 129-118 loss to the Nuggets.
ANALYSIS
Despite logging his third start in the past four games, Monk's numbers have taken a hit recently. He's come in handy amidst the Lakers' plethora of injury losses and is one of a few players to absorb LeBron James' production when he is absent. Although he can pop with a big number in that injury scenario, his performances over the past two games show how volatile his fantasy usage can be.
Apr 3, 2022
Starting Sunday
Monk will start Sunday's game against the Nuggets.
ANALYSIS
With LeBron James (ankle) sidelined, Monk will draw his 32nd start of the season. As a starter, he's averaged 16.7 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.2 assists in 32.2 minutes per game. While Monk will draw the start in place of James, Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook will likely benefit the most from the All-Star captain's absence.
Apr 1, 2022
Coming off bench Friday
Monk isn't starting Friday's game against New Orleans, NBA writer Marc Stein reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk started in each of the last two matchups and averaged 21.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists in 32.0 minutes per game. However, he'll retreat to the bench since LeBron James is back in action Friday.
Mar 29, 2022
Starting Tuesday
Monk will start Tuesday's game against the Mavericks, Bill Oram of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk gets the nod with LeBron James (ankle) sidelined. As a starter this month, he's averaged 14.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.2 steals in 31.2 minutes.
Mar 28, 2022
Hits for 23 off bench
Monk notched 23 points (9-17 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 3-3 FT) and six assists over 29 minutes off the bench during Sunday's 116-108 loss to the Pelicans.
ANALYSIS
Playing his third straight game with the second unit, Monk continues to be one of the few Lakers giving a consistent effort as the team tries to cling to a spot in the play-in tournament. The 24-year-old has produced back-to-back games with 23 points, and over the last 14 contests he's averaging 15.5 points, 3.6 assists, 3.4 boards, 2.4 threes and 1.1 steals.
Mar 21, 2022
Moves to bench
Monk will come off the bench Monday against the Cavaliers, Mike Trudell of the Lakers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk started the past 11 games for the Lakers and averaged 14.5 points, 3.5 assists and 1.2 steals in 31.2 minutes during that stretch, but he'll step out of the lineup Monday in Cleveland. He should still be involved off the bench while Wenyen Gabriel starts in his place.
Mar 14, 2022
In starting five
Monk (shoulder) is starting Monday's game against the Raptors, Ryan Ward of LakersNation.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk was previously listed on the Lakers' injury report as probable due to shoulder soreness, and the team has since cleared him to play. He's averaging 16.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.4 steals over his last seven games, all starts.
Mar 14, 2022
Likely available Monday
Monk (shoulder) is probable for Monday's contest against the Raptors.
ANALYSIS
Monk has been listed as probable with the shoulder issue before each of the last two contests as well, but he hasn't missed any time. Over his last seven contests, he's averaged 16.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.4 steals in 33.0 minutes per game.
Mar 13, 2022
Will start Sunday
Monk (shoulder) will start Sunday's game against Phoenix, Jovan Buha of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk was probable coming in so his status was never truly in much jeopardy. The Kentucky product is coming off of back-to-back 20-point games against Houston and Washington.
Mar 12, 2022
Probable again
Monk (shoulder) is probable for Sunday's game against the Suns, Kyle Goon of The Orange County Register reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk will presumably continue to fight through the sore shoulder. In his past six appearances, he's averaged 16.5 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.5 steals in 34.0 minutes.
Mar 12, 2022
Notches 20 points again
Monk (shoulder) poured in 21 points (8-12 FG, 5-7 3Pt) and added four assists and three rebounds across 30 minutes Friday in the Lakers' 122-109 win over the Wizards.
ANALYSIS
Monk hit the 20-point mark for the second game in a row and seems to have re-emerged as a reliable secondary scorer behind LeBron James after a downward slide to conclude February. Through his first six outings in March, Monk is averaging 16.5 points and 3.2 treys on 47.5 percent shooting from the field.
Mar 10, 2022
Probable for Friday
Monk is probable for Friday's game against the Wizards due to a sore right shoulder.
ANALYSIS
Monk logged significant minutes in Wednesday's loss to the Rockets and despite the injury tag, he's expected to be available against Washington. If Talen Horton-Tucker (ankle) is ruled out again, Monk could see another heavy workload. He posted 20 points, six rebounds, one assist and two steals across 40 minutes against Houston.
Mar 9, 2022
Cleared to play
Monk (calf) has been cleared to play Wednesday against Houston, Kyle Goon of Southern California News Group reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk was listed as probable coming in, so his status was never in too much jeopardy. With Talen Horton-Tucker (ankle) sidelined, Monk could see a slightly larger role.
Mar 8, 2022
Dealing with calf injury
Monk is probable for Wednesday's contest against the Rockets due to a right calf contusion.
ANALYSIS
Monk totaled 17 points (8-22 FG, 1-7 3Pt), five rebounds, four assists and three steals during Monday's loss to the Spurs, but he presumably picked up a calf injury as well. However, barring a setback, the fifth-year wing will likely be available Wednesday. Monk has scored in double figures in four straight games and has averaged 14.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.8 steals in 33.5 minutes during that stretch.
Mar 1, 2022
Joins starters
Monk will start Tuesday's game against the Mavericks.
ANALYSIS
Coach Frank Vogel is going with LeBron James at center, opening a spot in the backcourt for Monk. He's struggled lately but has generally played well as a starter. In his 19 nods this season, Monk has averaged 17.5 points on 13.4 shots, 3.9 rebounds and 3.1 assists in 32.7 minutes.
Feb 28, 2022
Hits rock bottom in loss
Monk had zero points (0-5 FG, 0-2 3Pt), one rebound, one assist, one block and two steals over 24 minutes during Sunday's 123-95 loss to New Orleans.
ANALYSIS
Monk was terrible as the Lakers suffered yet another humiliating loss in front of their loyal fans. After appearing to have carved out a consistent role earlier in the season, Monk has fallen off a cliff over the past month. While he has managed to throw in a handful of promising performances, his production is simply far too sketchy for him to be considered a must-roster player outside of deeper formats.
Feb 25, 2022
Coming off bench Friday
Monk isn't starting Friday's game against the Clippers, Mike Trudell of the Lakers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk started in eight of his nine appearances leading up to the All-Star break, and he averaged 17.0 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.2 assists in 31.3 minutes per game during that time. However, Austin Reaves will make his first career start Friday.
Feb 17, 2022
Diverse line in starting role
Monk posted 13 points (5-12 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 1-2 FT), five rebounds, two steals and one assist across 29 minutes Wednesday in the Lakers' 106-101 win over the Jazz.
ANALYSIS
After a one-game stint on the bench, Monk moved back to the top unit Wednesday, replacing Avery Bradley (knee). Assuming Bradley's injury isn't a major one, Monk could be headed to the bench when the Lakers return to action Feb. 25 against the Clippers, but the latter could be in store for an elevated role nonethless. Anthony Davis exited Wednesday's contest with a right ankle sprain that is expected to sideline him for at least two weeks, so Monk could be one of several players called on to fill some of the vacated usage on the offensive end coming out of the All-Star break.
Feb 16, 2022
Rejoins starting lineup
Monk will start Wednesday's game against the Jazz, Ryan Ward of LakersNation.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk came off the bench Saturday against Golden State and will return to the starting five for the final game before the All-Star break with Avery Bradley (knee) out. Monk has averaged 17.8 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 3.4 assists in 30.6 minutes over the past five games.
Feb 12, 2022
Shifts to bench
Monk will come off the bench Saturday against the Warriors, Dan Woike of the Los Angeles Times reports.
ANALYSIS
After seven consecutive starts, Monk will come off the bench while Russell Westbrook and Avery Bradley start in the backcourt. In Monk's past five appearances off the bench, he's averaged 12.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.2 steals in 27.2 minutes.
Feb 6, 2022
Scores team-high 29 points
Monk closed with 29 points (11-20 FG, 4-8 3Pt, 3-4 FT) and two assists across 39 minutes during Saturday's 122-115 overtime victory over New York.
ANALYSIS
Monk scored 20-plus points for the third time over his last four games. During that stretch, he has averaged 22.5 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.8 assists in 35.3 minutes per game. While the scoring production was nice, Monk failed to contribute elsewhere, as the return of LeBron James took away the majority of his playmaking opportunities. Either way, he's solidified a steady role for himself and will look to stay hot against the Bucks on Tuesday.
Feb 4, 2022
Tallies big fantasy line Thursday
Monk recorded 21 points (8-19 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 2-4 FT), seven rebounds and seven assists in 33 minutes during Thursday's 111-110 loss to the Clippers.
ANALYSIS
Monk started in spite of lingering groin soreness and finished as the Lakers' second-leading scorer in the loss. The fifth-year guard added a team-leading seven assists and grabbed seven rebounds in one of his finest all-around performances of the season. Monk is averaging 18.8 points, 6.0 boards, 4.0 dimes and 3.8 three-pointers over his past five games.
Feb 3, 2022
Cleared to play
Monk (groin) is starting Thursday against the Clippers, Harrison Faigen of SBNation.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk was able to play through left groin soreness Wednesday against Portland, and after being listed as probable earlier in the day, it's no surprise that he'll suit up for this one. He's averaging 14.3 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.0 steal over his last seven contests.
Feb 3, 2022
Probable Thursday
Monk (groin) is probable for Thursday's game against the Clippers, Harrison Faigen of SBNation.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk played through his left groin soreness Wednesday against the Trail Blazers, and it appears likely that he'll be able to do so once again during the second half of the back-to-back set. Since LeBron James (knee) is doubtful, Monk will likely be in line for additional usage once again.
Feb 2, 2022
Available, starting Wednesday
Monk (groin) is available and starting Wednesday versus Portland, Mike Trudell of the Lakers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk is dealing with soreness in his left groin, but it's not a surprise he'll play through the issue given he was considered probable. The 23-year-old is coming off a 33-point, 10-rebound and five-assist performance Sunday against the Hawks and should continue to be a major factor offensively with LeBron James (knee) still sidelined.
Feb 1, 2022
Probable Wednesday
Monk is probable for Wednesday's matchup against the Trail Blazers due to left groin soreness.
ANALYSIS
Monk missed Friday's game with the injury but returned Sunday with an electric 33-point, 10-rebound, 5-assist effort against the Hawks. With LeBron James (knee) doubtful Wednesday and possibly out for an extended period, Monk should continue seeing increased usage. As a starter this season, he's averaging 18.2 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.1 assists in 33.0 minutes.
Jan 30, 2022
Sets season-high with 33 points
Monk amassed 33 points (12-19 FG, 8-14 3Pt, 1-2 FT), 10 rebounds and five assists across 38 minutes during Sunday's 129-121 loss to the Hawks.
ANALYSIS
Monk set a season-high 29 points against the Hawks earlier in the month and reset it against them in Sunday's contest. Monk hit a mind-blowing eight three-pointers in the loss and was the Lakers' unquestioned offensive engine, as the team played a third consecutive game without LeBron James (knee). Monk is dealing with a groin injury himself, and it kept him from Friday's loss to the Hornets. Overall, there's a positive correlation between Monk's production and a James absence, which should be kept in mind while the All-Star is sidelined.
Jan 30, 2022
Will start Sunday
Monk (groin) will start Sunday's contest against the Hawks, Kyle Goon of The Orange County Register reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk was sidelined for Friday's loss to Charlotte due to left groin soreness, but as expected, he will be available Sunday. As a starter this season, he's averaged 16.9 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.9 assists in 32.6 minutes per game.
Jan 29, 2022
Likely to play Sunday
Monk (groin) is probable for Sunday's game against Atlanta, Mike Trudell of the Lakers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk was unavailable Friday against Charlotte due to left groin soreness, but he appears to be trending toward a return following a one-game absence. He's averaged 12.3 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 27.8 minutes per game across his last six appearances.
Jan 28, 2022
Won't play Friday
Monk has been ruled out for Friday's contest against the Hornets with left groin soreness, Kyle Goon of The Orange County Register reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk started Thursday's contest and totaled 11 points, five assists, four rebounds and two steals in 31 minutes. However, he appears to have picked up a groin injury as well and will be sidelined for at least one game. His next chance to suit up will be Sunday in Atlanta.
Jan 28, 2022
Inefficient in spot start
Monk contributed 11 points (3-13 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 4-4 FT), four rebounds, five assists and two steals over 31 minutes during Thursday's 105-87 loss to the 76ers.
ANALYSIS
Monk moved back into the starting lineup after Lebron James was earlier ruled out due to a knee injury. Despite shooting just 3-of-13 from the floor, it wasn't all doom and gloom for Monk. The playing time was encouraging and the fact he attempted the third-most shots on the team bodes well for his short-term future. Until we get word the James is returning to the lineup, Monk should be held in all standard formats.
Jan 27, 2022
Enters starting five
Monk will start Thursday's game against the 76ers, Mike Trudell of the Lakers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The 23-year-old will make his 12th start of the season Thursday with LeBron James (knee) not suiting up in Philadelphia. Monk has averaged 17.5 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.0 blocks while shooting 49.6 percent from the field across those contests.
Jan 25, 2022
Drills six triples in win Tuesday
Monk chipped in 22 points (7-13 FG, 6-12 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds, two assists and one steal across 28 minutes during Tuesday's 106-96 win over Brooklyn.
ANALYSIS
Monk found his rhythm in the victory, helping power the Lakers to a much-needed victory. After a hot stretch of games, Monk has cooled of late but this is certainly a step in the right direction for anyone invested in him. His role appears to be off the bench, something that needs to be considered when evaluating his projected value. As of right now, he remains a 12-team asset, albeit one who offers value in points and triples only.
Jan 17, 2022
Set for bench role
Monk isn't starting Monday's game against the Jazz, Kyle Goon of The Orange County Register reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk is coming off a sluggish four-point performance Saturday against Denver, so the Lakers have elected to go with a new look. Trevor Ariza enters the starting five at small forward, pushing Avery Bradley to shooting guard.
Jan 8, 2022
Continues sizzling streak
Monk finished with 29 points (11-20 FG, 7-12 3Pt), four rebounds, three assists and two steals in 35 minutes during Friday's 134-118 win over Atlanta.
ANALYSIS
Monk has been outstanding since moving to the starting lineup and has given the Lakers the boost they've been needing in the scoring column with Russell Westbrook underperforming and Anthony Davis (knee) sidelined. Since moving to the starting five, Monk has scored 22 or more points in four of six appearances and is averaging 22.2 points while shooting 55.4 percent from the field and 49 percent from deep in that stretch.
Jan 5, 2022
Drills six threes in win
Monk notched 24 points (8-15 FG, 6-11 3Pt, 2-4 FT), four rebounds, four assists, one block and one steal over 37 minutes during Tuesday's 122-114 win over the Kings.
ANALYSIS
Monk's production depends on a productive shooting night, and Tuesday's game was an excellent example of his value when his shot heats up. He drew his fifth consecutive start and averaged 20 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists heading into Tuesday's game. Monk was also on a red-hot run, averaging a scorching 56.3 percent from the floor over his four previous starts.
Dec 30, 2021
Productive despite loss
Monk registered 15 points (6-9 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 1-1 FT), three rebounds, one assist and one steal over 31 minutes during Wednesday's 104-99 loss to the Grizzlies.
ANALYSIS
Monk started for the second game in a row following his 25-point effort against the Rockets, and while he couldn't reach the 20-point mark for the third appearance in a row, at least he was efficient from the field while ending as the Lakers' third-best scorer. The former Kentucky standout has scored in double digits in five of his eight appearances this month.
Dec 29, 2021
Goes for 25 in spot start
Monk logged 25 points (7-14 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 8-8 FT), two rebounds, two assists, two blocks and one steal across 40 minutes during Tuesday's 132-123 victory over Houston.
ANALYSIS
Monk made his third start to the season and was productive once again, as he was coming off a 20-point effort off the bench against the Nets on Christmas. He's reached the 20-point mark six times this season and two of those games have come following a five-game absence earlier this month.
Dec 28, 2021
Starting Tuesday
Monk will start Tuesday's game against the Rockets, Mike Trudell of the Lakers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk had 20 points (8-13 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 1-1 FT), four rebounds, three assists and one block over 35 minutes Saturday in his return from a five-game absence, and he'll now make his third start of the season. The 23-year-old should continue to see a heavy workload with the Lakers still dealing with multiple key absences.
Dec 26, 2021
Scores 20 off bench
Monk notched 20 points (8-13 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 1-1 FT), four rebounds, three assists and one block over 35 minutes during Saturday's 122-115 loss to the Nets.
ANALYSIS
On a night when virtually every Laker not named LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony struggled to get anything going, Monk provided a nice effort in 35 minutes of action off the bench. While it ultimately wasn't enough, it was a nice reminder that Monk is capable of heating up at a moment's notice and providing fantasy value in points and threes when the minutes are there. The game marked Monk's return to action after he missed five straight games due to COVID-19 protocols.
Dec 25, 2021
Cleared for Christmas
Monk (COVID-19 protocols) has been cleared to play in Saturday's Christmas matchup with the Lakers, Dan Woike of the Los Angeles Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk will return from the NBA's health and safety protocols. Look for him to resume his role as a spark off the bench for the Lakers.
Dec 22, 2021
Out again Thursday
Monk (COVID-19 protocols) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Spurs, Andrew Greif of the Los Angeles Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk will miss a fifth straight game while in the COVID-19 health and safety protocols. His next chance to take the court will come Saturday against the Nets.
Dec 20, 2021
Out for fourth straight game
Monk (COVID-19 health and safety protocols) is listed as out for Tuesday's game against the Suns.
ANALYSIS
Monk, who entered the health and safety protocols Dec. 14, will be sidelined for a fourth straight game. He should be nearing the end of his quarantine period, but Monk is far from a lock to gain clearance for Thursday's game against the Spurs.
Dec 19, 2021
Still in protocols Sunday
Monk (COVID-19 protocols) is out Sunday against the Bulls.
ANALYSIS
There was some confusion regarding Monk's status in protocols, but he'll ultimately remain out Sunday. His next chance to suit up is Tuesday against the Suns.
Dec 17, 2021
Remains in COVID-19 protocols
Monk (COVID-19 protocols) won't play in Friday's contest against the Timberwolves, Mike Trudell of the Lakers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk, who had reportedly tested out of health and safety protocols Thursday, will miss his second straight game Friday. The situation surrounding Monk's status remains unclear, but in his absence, Austin Reaves and Wayne Ellington are expected to have increased roles once again.
Dec 16, 2021
Tests out of protocols
Monk (Covid-19) has tested out of the league's health and safety protocols, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk had been placed into the NBA's health and safety protocols Tuesday evening and has been joined by Dwight Howard, Talen Horton-Tucker, Russell Westbrook and Avery Bradley since then. Monk is the only one out of them who has tested out of protocols and could be in line to potentially start Friday with Westbrook not expected to play.
Dec 16, 2021
Won't play Friday
Monk (COVID-19 protocols) has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Timberwolves, Ryan Ward of LakersNation.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk and Dwight Howard will remain sidelined for a second straight game due to the league's health and safety protocols. Austin Reaves and Kent Bazemore could see additional run Friday.
Dec 14, 2021
In protocols, out Wednesday
Monk is in COVID-19 protocols and is out Wednesday against the Mavericks, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk and Dwight Howard entered protocols Tuesday evening. With Monk unavailable, more minutes could be in store for Austin Reaves and Kent Bazemore.
Dec 1, 2021
Pops in LeBron's absence
Monk recorded 22 points (8-16 FG, 6-10 3Pt), four rebounds and four assists in 33 minutes during Tuesday's 117-92 win over the Kings.
ANALYSIS
Monk hit a season-high six three-pointers -- nicely clearing his previous high of four made threes. With LeBron James entering COVID-19 protocols prior to Tuesday's contest, Monk should be in a position for increased usage going forward. He's been a more consistent part of the rotation since mid-November, and he was averaging 11.7 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists in his last 11 games leading up to Tuesday's effort.
Nov 25, 2021
Leads bench in scoring
Monk supplied 17 points (6-11 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT), eight rebounds, an assist and a steal over 34 minutes in a 124-116 win over the Pacers on Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Monk had his best scoring performance in nearly two weeks. He is seeing a career high in minutes per game (23.0), but still fluctuates as a scorer, evident from hitting double figures in just 4-of-7 prior contests. He referred to LeBron James (39 points) as the "Jordan of his generation" postgame, perhaps a savvy method of trying to earn even more playing time in Los Angeles.
Nov 14, 2021
Pours in 16 off the bench
Monk posted 16 points (6-10 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four assists and two rebounds across 27 minutes in Sunday's 114-106 win over the Spurs.
ANALYSIS
The Lakers have limped through the opening weeks of the season with a litany of injury woes, forcing role players like Monk to step up. Monk is excelling as one of the first guys on the bench for the Lakers and has ended up leading the team in scoring on more than one occasion.
Nov 11, 2021
Goes off for 27 points Wednesday
Monk tallied 27 points (10-13 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 3-4 FT), six rebounds, three assists and a blocked shot across 35 minutes Monday in a 120-117 overtime win over Miami.
ANALYSIS
This was the second time in the last three games that Monk led the Lakers in scoring, but his performance Wednesday had a much different feel than the modest 13-point effort he posted in the team's blowout loss to Portland last Saturday. Monk drilled an efficient 10-of-13 shots from the field against the Heat, including 4-of-7 from beyond the arc. After scoring a combined three points over four games between Oct. 29 and Nov. 4, Monk has suddenly settled into a groove, notching double-digit scoring in each of his past three contests.
Nov 7, 2021
Paces Lakers in ugly loss
Monk totaled 13 points (5-11 FG, 3-7 3Pt), four rebounds, three assists, one steal and one blocked shot over 22 minutes in Saturday's loss to Portland.
ANALYSIS
Monk's performance was far from extraordinary, but his 13 points were enough to lead the Lakers in a contest that they trailed by 31 points after three quarters. The shooting guard's point total was his second highest of the campaign, and Monk was able to convert from beyond the arc for the first time in five games. Prior to Saturday, Monk had been falling out of the rotation, averaging only 12.5 minutes over his previous four contests.
Oct 29, 2021
Available off bench
Monk (illness) has been cleared to play in Friday's game versus the Cavaliers and will come off the bench, Mike Trudell of the Lakers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
With Lebron James (ankle) back in the starting lineup, Monk will return to his reserve role against Cleveland. He started the previous two games that James was sidlined.
Oct 29, 2021
Dealing with non-COVID illness
Monk is probable for Friday's contest against the Cavaliers due to common cold symptoms, Ryan Ward of LakersNation.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk, who is expected to draw the start Friday, landed on the injury report ahead of the game with an illness. If he is unable to suit up, Austin Reaves, Kent Bazemore and Avery Bradley will all be candidates to see increased run against the Cavaliers.
Oct 27, 2021
Starting again Wednesday
Monk will make another start Wednesday against the Thunder, Jovan Buha of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
With LeBron James (ankle) missing a second straight game, Monk will remain in the starting lineup as the Lakers finish out a back-to-back set. Monk finished Tuesday's overtime win over the Spurs with 17 points (6-15 FG, 4-10 3Pt, 1-2 FT), three assists, one rebound and one steal in 39 minutes.
Oct 27, 2021
Season-high 17 points
Monk scored 17 points (6-15 FG, 4-10 3Pt, 1-2 FT) while adding three assists, a rebound and a steal across 39 minutes in Tuesday's overtime win over the Spurs.
ANALYSIS
Monk moved into the starting lineup due to the absence of LeBron James (ankle) and responded well, finishing as the third-best scorer on the team en route to a season-high mark in points. He has scored in double digits in each of his last two games and while the uptick in fantasy upside will last as long as he stays in the starting five, he is still a capable streaming option in most formats due to his scoring ability.
Oct 26, 2021
Joining starting five
Monk will start Tuesday's game against the Spurs, Mike Trudell of the Lakers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
LeBron James (ankle) won't play Tuesday, and Monk will receive the start in his place. The 23-year-old has averaged 8.3 points, 2.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 steals in 19.0 minutes across the first three games of the season, but he should see more run Tuesday.
Oct 19, 2021
Available Tuesday
Monk (groin) is available for Tuesday's opener against the Warriors, Broderick Turner of the Los Angeles Times reports.
ANALYSIS
This news isn't a surprise given that Monk was initially probable. He could be the first guard off the bench for the Lakers to provide a scoring punch.
Oct 18, 2021
Listed as probable for Tuesday
Monk (groin) is listed as probable for Tuesday's regular-season opener against the Warriors, Kyle Goon of The Orange County Register reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk made seven threes through his first two exhibitions games with the Lakers, but he was sidelined for the remainder of the preseason with a groin injury. If the 6-foot-3 guard is available, he will likely draw the start at shooting guard with Wayne Ellington (hamstring) and Talen Horton-Tucker (thumb) ruled out for the regular-season opener.
Oct 17, 2021
Practices Sunday
Monk (groin) was an active participant during team practice Sunday, according to Dan Woike of the Los Angeles Times.
ANALYSIS
The updated injury status suggests Monk could be available Tuesday versus Golden State. If so, Wayne Ellington's likely injury-related absence (hamstring) would allow the Kentucky graduate to start that day.
Oct 9, 2021
Won't play Sunday
Monk is dealing with a right groin strain and won't play in Sunday's preseason game against the Suns, Jovan Buha of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
This is the first mention of a groin issue for Monk. With three preseason games over the span of just five days beginning Sunday, it would seem that the Lakers are likely just exercising caution with Monk, who is expected to have a role off the bench during his inaugural season with Los Angeles.
Oct 6, 2021
Scores team-hgih 18 points
Monk finished Wednesday's preseason loss to Phoenix with 18 points (7-11 FG, 4-7 3Pt) and three assists.
ANALYSIS
Monk was one of the few bright spots for the Lakers in Sunday's exhibition opener, and that was again the case Wednesday, as he led the team in scoring, made field goals and made three-pointers in just 22 minutes of action. It's no secret that Monk can heat up in a hurry, and he's already making a strong case to earn consistent minutes off the bench for Frank Vogel during the regular season.
Oct 3, 2021
Drops 15 points in 21 minutes
Monk finished Sunday's preseason opener against the Nets with 15 points (6-12 FG, 3-6 3Pt), two rebounds, one assist and one block.
ANALYSIS
Making his Lakers debut, Monk had an impressive showing in 21 minutes off the bench, finishing with team highs in points, made field goals, field goal attempts and made threes. It's unclear exactly how large of a role Monk will have during the regular season, but the Lakers will certainly value his microwave scoring ability off the bench. As of now, Monk figures to compete with Kent Bazemore, Wayne Ellington, Talen Horton-Tucker and Kendrick Nunn for backcourt minutes.
Sep 29, 2021
Open to any role with Lakers
Monk said he's open to starting or coming off the bench for the Lakers this season, Andrew Greif of Lakers Nation reports. "I don't care if I start or come off the bench," Monk said. "I'm here to be the best Malik I can be for the Lakers."
ANALYSIS
There wasn't much of an expectation that Monk would compete for a starting spot, but it's nonetheless encouraging that he's seemingly open to accepting whatever role comes his way. The 2017 lottery pick had an up-and-down four seasons in Charlotte, but he showed several flashes of being able to heat up in a hurry as a scorer. He'll likely work in a bench role for most of 2021-22 as part of a re-tooled Lakers roster around LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Monk closed last season with averages of 11.7 points, 2.4 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 2.0 made threes (40.1% 3Pt) across 42 appearances.
Aug 3, 2021
Joining up with Lakers
Monk agreed to terms Tuesday on a deal to join the Lakers, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
The details haven't been released, but it's likely a one-year deal at close to the minimum for Monk, who comes over after four years in Charlotte. The former Kentucky star appeared to turn a corner last season, but a foot injury knocked him out for all of April and he was unable to get back on track over the final few weeks of the season. Over a 16-game stretch from Jan. 30 through March 3, Monk averaged 16.9 points and 3.0 made threes per game while shooting 46.3 percent from the field and 43.6 percent from three. He'll bring much-needed shooting and instant offense to an extremely top-heavy Lakers roster.
Aug 1, 2021
Heads to open market
The Hornets announced Sunday that Monk won't be tendered a qualifying offer, making him an unrestricted free agent.
ANALYSIS
Meanwhile, Charlotte will tender a qualifying offer to Devonte' Graham, and that move coupled with the team's selection of another shooting guard James Bouknight with the No. 11 overall pick in the Thursday's draft makes the decision to move on from Monk relatively unsurprising. After he was also a No. 11 overall selection in 2017, Monk failed to live up to the expectations that come with being a lottery pick. Over 233 regular-season appearances for Charlotte in his four years in the NBA, Monk averaged 9.1 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 17.8 minutes per game while shooting 40.3 percent from the field and 33.9 percent from three-point range. He'll look to find work as a reserve guard for another team as he heads to free agency.
May 9, 2021
Good to go Sunday
Monk (ankle) has been cleared to play in Sunday's game against the Pelicans.
ANALYSIS
Monk departed Friday's win over Orlando after tweaking his troublesome right ankle, but it doesn't look to be anything too serious, which is a major sigh of relief for the Hornets. The high-scoring guard missed 15 straight games in April with a sprained ankle, but since returning on May 1 against Detroit he's averaged 11.0 points, 4.0 assists, 2.3 rebounds and 2.8 threes (44.0% 3Pt).
May 9, 2021
Questionable Sunday
Monk (ankle) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Pelicans.
ANALYSIS
Monk was added to the injury report Sunday afternoon due to soreness in his right ankle. He had to leave Friday's game due to the ankle injury, and it remains unclear if he'll be available.
May 8, 2021
Off injury report
Monk (ankle) is off the injury report for Sunday's matchup against the Pelicans.
ANALYSIS
Monk left Friday's game due to an ankle injury, but it won't prevent him from playing Sunday. In his four appearances prior to Friday, he averaged 11.0 points, 4.0 assists and 2.3 rebounds in 24.8 minutes.
May 7, 2021
Won't return Friday
Monk won't return to Friday's game against the Magic due to right ankle soreness.
ANALYSIS
Monk came off the bench in Friday's contest and totaled three points (1-4 FG, 1-4 3Pt) in nine minutes. However, he suffered an ankle injury in the second half and was ruled out shortly after. It's not yet clear whether Monk will be able to return Sunday against the Pelicans.
May 6, 2021
Strong offensive performance
Monk scored 20 points (7-16 FG, 6-11 3Pt) with seven assists and four rebounds in a 120-99 loss to the Bulls on Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Monk scored in double figures for the third time in his last four games since returning from an extended absence (15 games) due to an ankle injury. The guard had an efficient performance from behind the arc, as he made 5-plus triples for the sixth time this season. Monk has averaged 11.0 points, 4.0 assists and 2.3 rebounds across his last four games.
May 1, 2021
Set to return Saturday
Monk (ankle) will be available for Saturday's game against the Pistons.
ANALYSIS
Monk will return to the court after missing the last 15 games due to a sprained right ankle. It's unclear at this time whether he'll be on any sort of minutes restriction, but it wouldn't be a surprise considering the extended absence stretching back to Apr. 1. With LaMelo Ball (wrist) also set to return, fewer opportunities will be available for Brad Wanamaker and Devonte' Graham.
May 1, 2021
Planning on returning Saturday
Monk (ankle) is planning to return Saturday against the Pistons, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk was initially questionable on the injury report, but it's apparently more likely that he plays than not. Monk saw 21.7 minutes per game before suffering the injury, and he may be on a minutes limit during his return. With both Monk and Ball (wrist) expected to play, fewer minutes could be available for Brad Wanamaker, Devonte' Graham and the Martin twins.
Apr 30, 2021
May return Saturday
Monk (ankle) is questionable for Saturday's contest against the Pistons.
ANALYSIS
A sprained right ankle has forced Monk to miss 15 straight games. If he makes his return Saturday, he could have a limited workload given the long layoff. LaMelo Ball (wrist) is also questionable to make his return Saturday following a 21-game absence.
Apr 27, 2021
Could return soon
Monk (ankle) is expected to test his sprained ankle during workouts Thursday or Friday, Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer reports.
ANALYSIS
The explosive-scoring guard will miss his 14th and 15th straight games as the Hornets play a Tuesday/Wednesday back-to-back, but there's hope that he could return as soon as Saturday's home matchup against Detroit. His status for that contest will depend on how the ankle performs later this week. Prior to the injury, Monk had emerged as a valuable scorer off the bench, averaging 16.2 points on 48.3 percent shooting over a 15-game span from Feb. 22 through March 26.
Apr 27, 2021
Remains without timetable
Monk (ankle) will not play Tuesday against the Bucks, and he remains without a clear timetable.
ANALYSIS
Back on April 2, the Hornets intimated that Monk was expected to miss roughly two weeks, but his absence is now nearing four weeks, as he last took the court on April 1 in Brooklyn. The team has provided virtually no updates, so it's very much unclear when the high-scoring guard might return to game action. Monk had scored in double figures in four straight games before the injury, averaging 18.3 points on 52.8 percent shooting during that stretch.
Apr 24, 2021
Out again Sunday
Monk (ankle) will not play in Sunday's matchup with the Celtics.
ANALYSIS
Monk's absence will mark his 13th consecutive game missed due to a sprained right ankle. Thus, the 23-year-old will have to wait until Tuesday's tilt with the Bucks for a potential return.
Apr 23, 2021
Still out Saturday
Monk (ankle) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against Cleveland.
ANALYSIS
Monk will be sidelined for the 12th straight contest while nursing a sprained right ankle. The 23-year-old's next chance to take the court will arrive Sunday against the Celtics.
Apr 21, 2021
Out Thursday
Monk (ankle) is out Thursday against the Bulls.
ANALYSIS
A sprained right ankle will keep Monk out for an 11th straight game. He should still be considered day-to-day ahead of Friday's game against the Bulls.
Apr 19, 2021
Out again Tuesday
Monk (ankle) has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Knicks.
ANALYSIS
The 23-year-old hasn't seen game action since April 1 due to a right ankle sprain and won't return to the court Tuesday. Monk's next chance to play will come Thursday at Chicago.
Apr 17, 2021
Still out Sunday
Monk (ankle) won't play Sunday against the Trail Blazers.
ANALYSIS
Monk hasn't played since April 1 due to a sprained right ankle, and he'll remain out for a ninth straight game Sunday. His next chance to play arrives Tuesday against the Knicks.
Apr 15, 2021
Remains sidelined
Monk (ankle) will remain out for Friday's game against the Nets.
ANALYSIS
Back on April 2, head coach James Borrego said that Monk's sprained right ankle would sideline him at least two weeks, and the fourth-year guard doesn't seem to have made much notable progress since being shut down. Until the Hornets upgrade Monk to doubtful or questionable on future injury reports or until news surfaces indicating that the 23-year-old has returned to practice, fantasy managers shouldn't view his return as imminent.
Apr 2, 2021
Likely out at least two weeks
Monk (ankle) is expected to miss at least two weeks, Rod Boone of The Hive Vibes reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk left Thursday's game against the Nets due to a sprained right ankle, and it's serious enough to keep the microwave scorer out at least two weeks. In his absence, the Hornets may turn to Caleb Martin, Cody Martin and Brad Wanamaker for extra help in the backcourt.
Apr 2, 2021
Out Friday
Monk is unavailable for Friday's game at Indiana with a right ankle sprain.
ANALYSIS
The 23-year-old suffered the injury Thursday against the Nets after entering the contest managing soreness in his right foot. Monk will miss at least one game, and his next chance to take the court will arrive Sunday at Boston.
Apr 1, 2021
Leaves Thursday's game
Monk left late in Thursday's game against Brooklyn due to an apparent right foot injury, Malika Andrews of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk had missed the last two games due to a sore right foot, but he was able to play 22 minutes Thursday in which he tallied 11 points, three rebounds and four assists. It seems as though he may have aggravated the foot injury he had been dealing with during the previous two games. His status for Friday's game against Indiana is very much in question.
Apr 1, 2021
Will play Thursday
Monk (foot) will play Thursday against Brooklyn.
ANALYSIS
Monk will return from a two-game absence due to a sore foot. The 22-year-old had been in a good rhythm prior to the injury, as he posted averages of 20.7 points on 57.1 percent shooting, 2.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 2.7 triples and 1.3 steals per game in his last three outings.
Mar 31, 2021
Deemed probable for Thursday
Monk (foot) is listed as probable for Thursday's game against the Nets.
ANALYSIS
The high-scoring guard appears set to make his return following a two-game absence, though Monk was also probable heading into Tuesday's win over Washington before being ruled out roughly an hour before tip. If he does, indeed, play, Monk should return to his role as the Hornets' first guard off the bench with Devonte' Graham moving back into the starting lineup in the wake of LaMelo Ball's wrist injury. In his last appearance Friday against Miami, Monk went for 32 points in 26 minutes, with 26 of his points coming in the first half.
Mar 30, 2021
Won't play Tuesday
Monk (foot) was downgraded from probable to out for Tuesday's game against the Wizards.
ANALYSIS
It's the second consecutive contest the 23-year-old was initially considered probable before eventually being ruled out. Monk's next chance to take the court will come Thursday at Brooklyn.
Mar 29, 2021
Expected back Tuesday
Monk (foot) is listed as probable for Tuesday's game against Washington.
ANALYSIS
A sore foot kept Monk out of Sunday's loss to Phoenix, but he's on track to return to availability off the bench Tuesday night. Monk will look to pick up where he left off Friday against Miami, when he erupted for 26 points in the first half on his way to 32 points (12-17 FG, 5-9 3Pt) in 26 minutes.
Mar 28, 2021
Ruled out Sunday
Monk (foot) will not play Sunday against Phoenix.
ANALYSIS
Monk went from being listed as probable for Sunday's game to out within a day's time due to soreness in his right foot. Caleb Martin, Jalen McDaniels and Brad Wanamaker will be in line for slightly increased roles with Monk on the sidelines.
Mar 28, 2021
Downgraded to doubtful
Monk (foot) was downgraded to doubtful for Sunday's game against the Suns.
ANALYSIS
The 23-year-old was originally considered probable for Sunday's contest, but he's now unlikely to take the court. According to Sam Perley of the Hornets' official site, coach James Borrego said Caleb Martin, Jalen McDaniels and Brad Wanamaker should see increased run with Monk expected to be sidelined.
Mar 27, 2021
Likely to play Sunday
Monk is dealing with right foot soreness and is listed as probable for Sunday's matchup with the Suns as a result.
ANALYSIS
Monk shined off the bench in Friday's victory over the Heat by contributing 32 points (12-17 FG, 5-9 3Pt, 3-3 FT). It appears he also came out of the contest with a right foot issue. Still, his probable designation indicates he is still on track to suit up, but his staus should certainly be monitored.
Mar 27, 2021
Scores 32 off bench
Monk had 32 points (12-17 FG, 5-9 3Pt, 3-3 FT) off the bench in Friday's win over the Heat.
ANALYSIS
Monk was the game's leading scorer, as he caught fire early on and never looked back. The former Kentucky standout scored 24 of his 32 points in the first half, hitting 8-of-11 field goals and five three-pointers through the first two quarters. The 2017 first-round pick is capable of heating up at a moment's notice, but for fantasy purposes he typically doesn't provide much outside of points and three-pointers.
Mar 25, 2021
Strong performance in easy victory
Monk recorded 19 points (7-10 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 3-3 FT), four assists, three rebounds and two steals in 24 minutes during Wednesday's 122-97 win over the Rockets.
ANALYSIS
The Hornets made easy work of the Rockets, and Monk was able to shine in the blowout win. It's the second straight game in which he's seen at least 24 minutes. His workload should continue to be elevated with LaMelo Ball (wrist) sidelined for at least four weeks. Wednesday's performance was the second time Monk recorded at least 19 points and four assists this season.
Mar 23, 2021
Minutes on the rise in victory
Monk ended with 11 points (5-15 FG, 1-6 3Pt), three assists, one rebound and one steal in 27 minutes during Monday's 100-97 victory over San Antonio.
ANALYSIS
After seeing his playing drop since the All-Star break, Monk could be about to land himself a sizeable role moving forward. LaMelo Ball (wrist) could miss the remainder of the season and if Monday's minutes' allocation is anything to go by, Monk's could move back into the standard league conversation. His value is typically reliant on his scoring and so he is not going to be for everyone. That said, points are generally a tricky category to bolster, making him a potential streaming option for just about any team.
Mar 18, 2021
Scores 16 in blowout loss
Monk totaled 16 points (4-9 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 7-9 FT), three rebounds, two assists and two steals in a 129-104 loss to the Nuggets on Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Monk was held scoreless through three quarters before scoring 16 in nine fourth-quarter minutes. The guard hasn't been playing as much since the All-Star break, averaging just 17.2 minutes per game. Monk is averaging 13.2 points per game on the year but doesn't add many rebounds or assists, so he doesn't offer much fantasy consideration on a Hornets' team that has several capable guards.
Mar 14, 2021
Scores 16 points off bench
Monk had 16 points (6-10 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds, an assist, a steal and a block across 19 minutes off the bench in Saturday's win over the Raptors.
ANALYSIS
Monk has been a reliable scoring threat for the Hornets of late and while he's yet to start a game this season, he continues to produce on a nightly basis and remains a capable fantasy asset due to his scoring ability. He has scored 15-plus points in seven of his last eight games and is averaging 19.6 points per game while shooting 49.6 percent from the field in that span.
Mar 2, 2021
Effective off bench again
Monk tallied 19 points (7-13 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 2-4 FT), two rebounds and two assists across 27 minutes in Monday's loss to Charlotte.
ANALYSIS
Monk just missed reaching the 20-point mark for the fifth straight game, but he still led Hornets reserves with 19 points and converted over half of his attempts from the field. Over his past five games, Monk has scored 22.8 points per contest while shooting 51.9 percent from the field.

Snatches win with clutch effort
Monk finished Sunday's 127-126 victory over Sacramento with 21 points (8-17 FG, 0-7 3Pt, 5-5 FT), five rebounds and four assists.
ANALYSIS
Monk missed all seven of his three-point attempts Sunday, but he made up for the misses by coming through when it mattered most, converting a three-point play with 1.4 seconds on the clock to guide Charlotte to a one-point win. The clutch shot and free throw put Monk over the 20-point mark for the fourth straight game, and he is averaging 23.8 points on 51.5 percent shooting over that stretch. He contributes little in the way of assists or defensive stats, but Monk deserves a look in fantasy leagues as an emerging source of points and triples.

Stays hot off bench
Monk scored 25 points (9-16 FG, 5-11 3Pt, 2-4 FT) and corralled five rebounds in a loss to the Warriors on Friday.
ANALYSIS
Monk has been scoring at a torrid rate of late, totaling 20 or more points in three straight contests. Over that stretch, he has shot 53.1 percent from the field and drained an average of 4.7 three-pointers per game. Monk doesn't contribute much in the way of peripheral stats, but he can get hot for stretches and help fantasy managers looking for scoring and treys. However, he has hit only 40 percent of his field-goal attempts over his career, so his affinity for the deep shot is something to be wary of.
Feb 25, 2021
Impressive off bench once again
Monk posted 29 points (10-21 FG, 5-10 3Pt, 4-4 FT), three assists, two rebounds and a steal across 28 minutes off the bench in Wednesday's win over the Suns.
ANALYSIS
Monk was one of three Charlotte players that reached the 20-point mark, but he surprisingly led the team offensively despite coming off the bench. Monk clearly has the talent to light up the scoreboard on any given night and is undoubtedly going through a productive stretch, as he has reached the 20-point plateau in three of his last four appearances off the bench despite not playing more than 31 minutes in any of those contests.
Feb 23, 2021
Scores 20 points off bench
Monk had 20 points (7-12 FG, 4-8 3Pt, 2-4 FT) and six rebounds across 24 minutes off the bench in Monday's loss against the Jazz.
ANALYSIS
Monk enjoyed an excellent performance -- he played the third-fewest minutes but still managed to reach the 20-point mark for the second time in his last three contests. Monk is certainly capable of putting up huge scoring numbers, but he's been very consistent on a game-to-game basis and needs to improve in that department to experience an uptick in his upside -- although the fact that he is coming off the bench regularly also puts a hard cap on his upside.
Feb 15, 2021
Plays well in Graham's absence
Monk had 23 points (7-13 FG, 5-6 3Pt, 4-5 FT), four rebounds and two assists across 31 minutes Sunday in a 122-110 loss to the Spurs.
ANALYSIS
Devonte' Graham exited Sunday's game with a knee injury, which allowed Monk over 30 minutes of playing time for only the third time this season. Monk stepped up with 23 points, an 18-point improvement from a previous injury return Graham made Friday. Monk may see more of this elevated playing time if Graham's injury requires him to sit out.
Feb 8, 2021
Adds 14 points off bench
Monk added 14 points (6-11 FG, 2-5 3Pt), five assists, four rebounds, two blocks and two steals over 26 minutes off the bench in Monday's win over the Rockets.
ANALYSIS
Monk set season-highs with his points, steals, blocks and assists. Monk has now attempted double-digit shot attempts in five of his last six games and has shot 40 percent or better in four of those six games. In that six-game span, Monk is averaging 16.3 points and 3.5 rebounds while shooting 47 percent from the floor.
Feb 7, 2021
Plays significant role off bench
Monk recorded 11 points (4-11 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 1-1 FT), seven rebounds and one assist over 32 minutes in Sunday's 119-97 win over the Wizards.
ANALYSIS
Monk was limited to just six points Friday, but he had a prominent role in Sunday's comfortable victory over Washington. He brought in a season-high seven rebounds against the Wizards and has now topped 10 points in four of the last five games.
Feb 3, 2021
13 points off bench
Monk had 13 points (4-10 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds and one assist in 28 minutes during Wednesday's 118-111 loss to the Sixers.
ANALYSIS
The 23-year-old was coming off a 36-point performance Monday and continue to operate as Charlotte's top scorer off the bench with Terry Rozier (ankle) unavailable. Monk should remain in that role until Rozier is cleared to retake the court.
Feb 1, 2021
Career night in OT win
Monk scored a career-high 36 points (11-18 FG, 9-13 3Pt, 5-5 FT) while adding five rebounds and two assists in 40 minutes off the bench during Monday's 129-121 overtime win over the Heat.
ANALYSIS
With Terry Rozier (ankle) sidelined, Monk saw a significantly increased role and absolutely erupted. Not only did he establish a new personal best in scoring, the fourth-year guard also set a Hornets franchise record for points by a bench player. Rozier's injury isn't considered serious, but if he isn't able to return for Wednesday's tilt against the 76ers, Monk could see big minutes and elevated usage once again.
Jan 31, 2021
Delivers season-high 18 points
Monk had 18 points (7-16 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 1-1 FT), two rebounds and two assists during Saturday's 126-114 win over the Bucks.
ANALYSIS
It's only the second time this season the 22-year-old played more than 14 minutes, and he saw the bump in playing time Saturday since Terry Rozier exited at halftime with an ankle sprain. Monk could see increased run off the bench should Rozier be forced to miss additional time.
Jan 29, 2021
Totals six points off bench
Monk recorded six points (2-4 FG, 2-4 3Pt), two assists and one steal over 14 minutes in Friday's 108-105 win over the Pacers.
ANALYSIS
Monk has had a relatively inconsistent role for Charlotte over the beginning of the season, but he's now played 14 minutes off the bench in each of the past two contests. The 22-year-old converted on two of his attempts from beyond the arc during Friday's narrow victory over Indiana.
Dec 29, 2020
Not on injury report
Monk (head) is not on the injury report ahead of Wednesday's contest against the Mavericks.
ANALYSIS
Monk sat out Tuesday's practice due to a headache, but he's expected to be fine for Wednesday's action. That said, he's yet to make it off the bench.
Dec 29, 2020
Sits out Tuesday's practice
Monk did not practice Tuesday due to a migraine headache, Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk has not played in any of the Hornets' first three games, and a missed practice Tuesday won't help his chances of working his way into the rotation. Consider the former Kentucky standout questionable for Wednesday's matchup against Dallas.
Dec 28, 2020
Not in rotation
Monk is not in the Hornets' rotation to begin the season.
ANALYSIS
The 2017 lottery pick showed some flashes last season before being hit with a drug-related suspension that ended his season in February. Monk also dealt with COVID-19 early in December, and he's yet to see the floor in any of the Hornets' first three games. It's possible Monk is still working his way back up to full speed, but for the time being he appears to be on the outside of the regular rotation. When asked about Monk on Saturday, coach James Borrego was fairly vague in his response. "Great attitude -- he's getting in better shape, he's looked really good in practice, he's doing everything he can," Borrego said.
Dec 15, 2020
Makes preseason debut
Monk scored two points (1-6 FG, 0-3 3PT) and had three assists in 11 minutes of Monday's 112-109 preseason loss to Toronto.
ANALYSIS
The biggest news here is that Monk made his preseason debut after returning from a positive COVID-19 test. The guard is coming off a season posting career highs in points, but his value takes a hit between ramp up time after his late start to preseason and the fact that playing time may be scarce after the Hornets selected LaMelo Ball in the 2020 draft.
Dec 14, 2020
Not on injury report
Monk is not on the Hornets' injury report ahead of Monday's preseason game against Toronto.
ANALYSIS
Monk returned to the Hornets last week after a positive COVID-19 test, but he was held out of Saturday's game for conditioning purposes. All indications are that the former Kentucky standout will be available Monday night.
Dec 12, 2020
Plays 3-on-3 at shootaround
Monk (illness) played some 3-on-3 during Saturday's shootaround but will remain unavailable for Saturday's preseason contest against the Raptors, Rick Bonnell of The Charlotte Observer reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk, who tested positive for coronavirus but is now back with the team, was testing his conditioning during 3-on-3. There will be a workout for him Sunday and it's unclear if he'll be able to play in Monday's game against the Raptors.
Dec 10, 2020
To join team Saturday
Monk (illness) has been medically cleared from COVID-19 and will re-join team activities Saturday, Rod Boone of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk is doing individual workouts until the weekend, and he'll likely be out for Saturday's preseason opener against the Raptors. Monk saw 21.3 minutes per game last season but could have a hard time finding that role in 2020-21 given the additions of LaMelo Ball and Gordon Hayward.
Dec 9, 2020
Expected back Thursday or Friday
Monk (illness) is expected to begin working out with the team either Thursday or Friday, Jack Duffy of Sports Illustrated reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk is recovering from COVID-19, so he's working through protocols before joining his teammates. He may be limited in the preseason, but he should be good to go for the regular season.
Dec 4, 2020
Tests positive for COVID-19
Coach James Borrego said on Friday that Monk tested positive for COVID-19, Rod Boone of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Coach Borrego said during a media briefing Friday that Monk is asymptomatic and has not practiced the last few days after testing positive. The fourth-year shooting guard will presumably miss most of the preseason for Charlotte, but may be ready for the start of the regular season depending on his recovery.
Sep 28, 2020
Refocused heading into 2020-21
Hornets coach James Borrego told the Charlotte Observer that Monk is "more emotionally and mentally engaged" than ever before.
ANALYSIS
The Hornets have been out of the spotlight for so long that it's easy to forget Monk was slapped with a suspension back in February for a violation of the league's drug policy. The details have remained mostly under wraps, but Monk has since taken responsibility for the suspension and vowed to use it as a lesson in maturity. "I did it. I took my consequences for it," Monk said of the suspension. "I think I'm making up for it right now. I'm in a great place with my mind and my body. The responsibility now is even bigger for me to stay like this, instead of swerving off a little bit." The former Kentucky standout has had an up-and-down start to his NBA career. After struggling through most of his first two years in the league, Monk was beginning to show flashes of the athleticism and microwave scoring ability that endeared him to fans and talent evaluators alike at the college level. From Jan. 20 through Feb. 22, Monk averaged 17.8 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists over a 12-game sample, hitting 46.5 percent
Jun 8, 2020
Reinstated during hiatus
Monk has been reinstated by the NBA following a drug-related suspension in February, Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk was suspended indefinitely on Feb. 26 -- roughly two weeks before the league suspended the regular season. Few details regarding the nature of Monk's violation have emerged, but the Hornets announced Monday that the former Kentucky standout has officially been reinstated. The Hornets will not be among the 22 teams heading to Orlando next month, however, so Monk will have to wait until the start of the 2020-21 season to return to action.
Feb 26, 2020
Suspended indefinitely
Monk has been suspended indefinitely for violating the league's anti-drug program, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk will remain suspended until he's determined to be in compliance with the program. In his absence, Cody Martin is a candidate to see increased run. The suspension comes at an unfortunate time for Monk, who was enjoying one of his best stretches of the season, averaging 17.0 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists over his past 13 games (28.0 minutes per tilt).
Feb 25, 2020
Gets the start
Monk scored eight points (4-13 FG, 0-4 3Pt), while tacking on three assists, a rebound and a steal in 27 minutes during Tuesday's 119-80 loss to the Pacers.
ANALYSIS
The combination of Devonte' Graham resting and Monk having scored at least 15 points in his prior six contests made Tuesday's bust especially disappointing for Monk shareholders. A volatile in and of himself, Monk is sometimes also at the mercy of one of the league's worst offenses in Charlotte. He will have a chance to bounce back in a fantasy-friendly match when the Knicks come to town on Wednesday.
Feb 25, 2020
Will start Tuesday
Monk will start Tuesday's game against the Pacers.
ANALYSIS
With the Hornets resting Devonte' Graham, Monk will get the nod in the backcourt alongside Terry Rozier. After struggling through much of last season and the beginning of this season, Monk has had a resurgence of late, averaging 17.8 points on 46.9 percent shooting over his last 12 contests. He's been even better over his last six games, posting 20.0 points and 4.2 rebounds in 29.5 minutes, with a 51/44/83 shooting line.
Feb 21, 2020
Scores 25 again
Monk produced 25 points (7-13 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 9-9 FT), six rebounds and three assists in 30 minutes during Thursday's 103-93 win over the Bulls.
ANALYSIS
Monk has scored exactly 25 in consecutive contests. Moreover, he has made 38-of-69 shots from the field while averaging just over 20 points per game across the last five tilts. Monk has also reached double figures in scoring in 10 of the last 11 games, and the 22-year-old guard is certainly worth adding in most formats in case he continues to regularly provide impressive scoring performances.
Feb 13, 2020
Efficient 25 points in victory
Monk posted 25 points (10-20 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, three assists, two blocks and one steal in 32 minutes during Wednesday's 115-108 victory over the Timberwolves.
ANALYSIS
Monk has carved out a sixth-man role in the Hornets' rotation lately, seeing 28.0 minutes per game across the past 10, averaging 17.3 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists. Considering the Hornets are well out of playoff contention and have been moving away from playing veterans, Monk should continue to occupy this role for the remainder of the season as long as he remains passably efficient.
Feb 11, 2020
Thriving in sixth-man role
Monk scored 17 points (5-10 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 5-6 FT) while adding three rebounds, three steals and an assist in 29 minutes off the bench during Monday's 87-76 win over the Pistons.
ANALYSIS
The third-year guard has found a consistent role in recent weeks as the Hornets' top weapon off the bench. Over the last nine games, Monk is averaging 16.4 points, 3.6 boards, 2.3 assists and 1.4 threes while seeing 27.6 minutes a night, and Monday's steals were a new career high. If he can add some defensive value to his emerging offense, Monk will be firmly on the fantasy radar even in shallower formats.
Feb 5, 2020
Productive outing off bench
Monk generated 19 points (8-13 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 1-2 FT) to go with six rebounds and a blocked shot over 31 minutes Tuesday in the Hornets' 125-110 loss to the Rockets.
ANALYSIS
The 2017 first-round pick has turned in the best run of his career over the past seven games, averaging 16.0 points (on 45.1 percent shooting from the field), 3.9 boards, 2.6 assists and 1.1 three-pointers in 27.3 minutes. Monk looks like the Hornets' top guard off the bench at the moment, though Charlotte is believed to be listening to offers on the 22-year-old as Thursday's trade deadline nears. In the event he remains in Charlotte once the deadline passes, Monk should continue to see a steady amount of playing time on the second unit.
Jan 24, 2020
Career-high 31 points
Monk racked up 31 points (10-17 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 8-9 FT), five rebounds, five assists, a steal and a block across 32 minutes during the Hornets' 116-103 loss to the Bucks on Friday.
ANALYSIS
Monk scored 20 points (8-13 FG) on Monday, and again found his stroke on Friday. Monk also had a great block on Ersan Ilyasova shortly before halftime. As good as he looked, the story remains the same for Monk, as he will have to maintain production to warrant fantasy attention.
Jan 21, 2020
Explodes for 20 points
Monk had 20 points (8-13 FG, 0-3 3PT, 4-6 FT), two assists, one rebound and one block in 22 minutes off the bench during Monday's 106-86 loss against the Magic.
ANALYSIS
Monk had one of his best scoring perfomances of the season since he reached the 20-point mark for just the third time in the current campaign, but he hadn't scored in double digits since Dec. 29 and even counting this performance, he is still shooting just 40.0 percent from the field and 21.1 percent from deep during the current month. The third-year shooting guard has struggled badly this season and at this point, Monk needs to improve both his consistency and efficiency to have any sort of fantasy value moving forward.
Dec 20, 2019
Off injury report
Monk (hip) is not on the injury report ahead of Saturday's game against the Jazz, Rick Bonnell of The Charlotte Observer reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk bruised his left hip during Wednesday's game, but it's nothing that will keep him out Friday. This month, he's averaging 8.6 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 17.8 minutes.
Oct 11, 2019
Doesn't play in second half
Monk was held out of the second half of Friday's preseason game against Philadelphia due to a toe injury, Rick Bonnell of The Charlotte Observer reports.
ANALYSIS
Monk has been dealing with a sore right toe throughout camp, and it popped back up during Friday's matchup. He'll be considered day-to-day until further notice.
