Prosper and fellow rookie first-round pick Dereck Lively will both get looks on the top unit to begin the preseason, joining Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving and Grant Williams. The latter three players are locked into starting roles to begin the regular season, but Prosper and Lively will have to earn their spots through their performance in the preseason. While the Mavericks' willingness to give Prosper an opportunity to prove he's worthy of a starting gig is a positive development, he's unlikely to emerge as a major fantasy contributor as a rookie while high-usage players like Doncic and Irving are both available. Even if one or both Doncic and Irving miss time, Prosper profiles as more of a 3-and-D forward who's not expected to be asked to shoulder a heavy burden on the offensive end.

Prosper amassed 18 points (7-12 FG, 4-4 FT), five rebounds, one assist and one steal in 29 minutes during Friday's 112-91 Summer League win over the Pacers.

Prosper has improved his scoring output throughout the Summer League but continues to be inconsistent with his outside shot. However, his primary path to playing time as a rookie will likely be on the defensive end, as he brings impressive size and instincts.

Prosper tallied 17 points (3-7 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 8-10 FT), 10 rebounds, three assists and one steal in 33 minutes during Wednesday's 98-96 overtime Summer League win over Golden State.

Prosper had his best offensive game of the Summer League, as he was efficient from the outside and earned numerous trips to the free-throw line. While his defensive abilities will likely be the reason he sees minutes early on, the rookie forward could see wide-open looks from the three-point line due to the defensive attention that Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving will receive.

Prosper recorded 10 points (2-8 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 6-9 FT), seven rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block in 24 minutes during Monday's 111-103 Summer League win over the 76ers.

Prosper is still very raw on offense, as he struggled with his efficiency. While he is unlikely to receive a major role for the Mavericks right out the gate, his defensive potential is exactly what Dallas needs next Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic long-term.
