Monday's performance can likely be chalked up to an off night, which Washington has been susceptible to this season. The fourth-year forward is averaging a career-high 15.1 points per game, but he's scored 20-plus points 13 times and fewer than 10 points eight times.

Though Ball's potential absence for additional games beyond Saturday could provide a mild short-term boost for Washington's fantasy outlook, expect some inconsistency and inefficiency from the fourth-year big man, who is shooting 44.6 percent from the field for the season.

That versatility is quite valuable, and Washington remains a capable performer in all formats. He's averaging 15.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.2 blocks and 1.1 steals per game in nine January appearances.

While this could be viewed as a bit of a sell-high opportunity, managers may simply want to wait things out to see if he can maintain solid production moving forward.

Washington put together another encouraging performance Monday, continuing to turn things around after what had been a rough stretch over the previous two weeks. He has now scored at least 20 points in two straight games, although more importantly, has shot at least 60 percent from the floor in both. Prior to his recent stretch, he had failed to shoot better than 40 percent in seven of nine games. If he was dropped in your league, adding him is not the worst idea in the world given he does have a proven ability to put up consistent top-100 production.

After failing to impress for three straight games, Washington put together one of his better stat lines of the season. Without Anthony Davis (foot) in the lineup, the Lakers showed vulnerabilities inside and Washington took advantage. The imminent return of Miles Bridges may impede continued success for Washongton, but for now he is entrenched in the starting lineup.

Washington returned to the lineup after missing the previous game due to personal reasons but was unable to find his rhythm on the offensive end. Poor efficiency is something that has plagued him for the majority of the season, dragging his value outside the top 100. Thankfully, he has been a steady source of peripheral numbers, somewhat salvaging what has been an underwhelming season thus far.

The Hornets power forward finished the first half with 14 points on 4-of-8 shooting, including 3-of-5 from three-point range while adding four assists and four rebounds. However, Washington would only knock down three more shots for another 10 points in the second half on 3-of-8 shooting as Ball exited the game with an ankle injury and the Pacers stormed ahead down the stretch. It was Washington's fourth time this season breaking the 20-point mark and his second time hitting four threes, but his effort would fall short as the Hornets lost their ninth game out of their last 10.

After Cam Thomas gave the Nets a two-point lead with just under two minutes to go, Washington came right back down court to knock down a three and put the Hornets back up 92-91. However, that would be the last lead of the game for Charlotte, as Kevin Durant took things over and dealt the Hornets their fourth-consecutive loss. Washington has now scored in double figures in eight of 10 games this season, while his four blocks on the evening were a season-high.

Washington was terrible in the loss, shooting a woeful 2-of-15 from the floor. After a nice stretch of performances, he has now come crashing back to earth. Given his checkered past, some managers may be quick to pull the trigger on a buy-low trade. He is still adjusting to his new role and so there are likely going to continue to be some ups and downs over the coming weeks. Patience is the key here but if you think his manager could be a little trigger-happy, throw a trade out to see what happens.

Washington led the way once again for the Hornets, continuing to reward those managers who stayed patient through what was a mediocre first week. Coming off a 31-point explosion, his offensive game has come on in leaps and bounds, turning him into a threat from anywhere on the floor. Finally, in a position to succeed, it appears as though Washington could be primed for a breakout campaign.

Washington was electric in the win Saturday, pouring in a season-high 31 points. After being viewed as a bit of a breakout candidate this season, Washington has taken a few games to get going. While this was clearly his best game thus far, he has scored in double-digits in five of six games, while chipping in with contributions on both ends of the floor.

Washington finished with 17 points (5-14 FG, 4-8 3Pt, 3-4 FT), five rebounds, one assist and one steal across 38 minutes during Wednesday's 134-131 overtime loss to New York.

Foul trouble and blowout losses have led to Washington seeing relatively limited minutes, but coach Steve Clifford leaned on the forward during Wednesday's close effort. Washington's rebounding (4.5 per game) isn't quite what fantasy managers were hoping for, and he's struggled a bit from the field (42.6 percent), but his 45.8 percent mark from distance is fantastic. Ultimately, Washington is expected to be a relatively low-usage option, but he's shown two-way upside.

Washington closed with 17 points (7-12 FG, 3-4 3Pt), seven rebounds, four assists and three blocks in 30 minutes during Wednesday's 129-102 victory over the Spurs.

Washington was tremendous in the win, bringing comfort to those who were able to secure his services. With the Hornets down on troops, Washington could finally be about to break out after a couple of underwhelming campaigns. As long as he can log upwards of 28 minutes per night, he should be able to flirt with middle-round value thanks to a well-balanced fantasy skillset.

With the exception of LaMelo Ball (ankle), it sounds like every other player was able to get in some work during Friday's practice session. It's possible that Washington will draw another questionable tag ahead of next Wednesday's regular-season opener against the Spurs, but his return to practice is certainly encouraging in terms of his availability moving forward.

With that being said, his defensive contributions are typically enough to buoy his value enough to make him a must-roster player across most formats.

Washington has been a reliable starter for the Hornets since he stepped in for Gordon Hayward (ankle) just before the All-Star break. He's averaging 9.9 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 26.6 minutes per game this season.

Kelly Oubre had started each of the past three games in place of the injured Gordon Hayward (ankle), so Washington's move to the top unit Tuesday may have just been designed to better counter the Timberwolves' sizable frontcourt of Karl-Anthony Towns and Jarred Vanderbilt.

But Washington could see fewer minutes once Gordon Hayward (ankle) returns to action sometime after the break.

If McDaniels and Hayward remain out for Wednesday's contest against the Bulls, Washington will be a likely candidate for an increased role once again.
