Look for him to bounce back sooner rather than later, making this an ideal time to buy low in fantasy leagues.

Dyson Daniels, Jordan Hawkins and Naji Marshall are candidates to see an uptick in minutes once the 2023-24 campaign gets underway.

Murphy sustained a meniscus injury in his left knee Tuesday and was evaluating whether he'll require surgery, but it appears likely that he'll need some sort of procedure following his diagnosis. The team reportedly has "significant concern" regarding his injury, and his return timetable will depend on what type of surgery he ultimately requires. Depending on the procedure, he could return around the start of the regular season, but the team will continue to evaluate options this week.

Murphy suffered a meniscus injury to his left knee during a workout Tuesday and will undergo further testing to decide if he needs surgery or not, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.

After a modest rookie season, Murphy excelled in Year 2. He was essentially a full-time starter and averaged 14.5 points, 3.6 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.1 steals in 31.0 minutes per game. Murphy's 3-and-D prowess was on full display, as he shot 40.6 percent on 6.3 three-point attempts per game. The potential return of Zion Williamson (hamstring) cast a shadow over Murphy's fantasy value in 2023-24, and this injury certainly doesn't help things either. With just over one month until the preseason kicks off, Murphy could be sidelined to start the regular season, but it doesn't appear like he's in danger of missing the entire campaign yet.

Murphy totaled 21 points (6-16 FG, 4-10 3Pt, 5-5 FT), four rebounds, two assists and one steal across 44 minutes during Wednesday's 123-118 play-in game loss to Oklahoma City.

The Pelicans would have likely missed the play-in tournament without Murphy's contribution this season. Without Zion Williamson (hamstring), the team needed multiple players to take on new roles, and Murphy was a difference-maker throughout. the result was a dramatic spike over his rookie numbers. In his second season with New Orleans, Murphy started 65 games, averaging 14.5 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists.

Murphy ended Friday's 113-105 victory over the Knicks with 31 points (10-21 FG, 3-10 3Pt, 8-8 FT), three rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal across 39 minutes.

Murphy did most of his damage in the first half with 20 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the field while also sinking all five of his attempts from the free-throw line. He knocked down just three of nine shot attempts in the second half but still finished with a game-high 31 points as the Pelicans took care of the Knicks at home. The shooting guard has now broken the 30-point mark in back-to-back contests while his eight makes from the foul line Friday also marked a season high.

Murphy posted 30 points (9-18 FG, 7-13 3Pt, 5-6 FT), four assists, three steals and two rebounds across 46 minutes in Wednesday's 138-131 overtime win over the Grizzlies.

In one of the stranger statistical oddities, Murphy, Herbert Jones and CJ McCollum became the second trio of teammates in NBA history to score at least 30 points and hit at least five three-pointers in the same game, after the Knicks' triumvirate of Immanuel Quickley, Obi Toppin and Quentin Grimes achieved the feat about an hour earlier in New York's 138-129 win over Indiana. Though the defensive-minded Jones' big night appears to be more of an outlier, Murphy has emerged as a consistent third piece on offense for the Pelicans behind Brandon Ingram (24 points, 13 assists) and McCollum while Zion Williamson (hamstring) has been sidelined. Murphy has reached double figures in the scoring column in each of his 17 games since re-entering the starting five March 3, averaging 19.8 points, 4.1 triples, 3.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.5 steals and 0.8 blocks over that stretch.

Murphy finished Saturday's 122-114 victory over the Clippers with 19 points (4-8 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 9-11 FT), four rebounds, one assist, two blocks and two steals in 39 minutes.

Murphy was tremendous in the victory, another in what has been a long line of strong performances. After a bumpy patch in January, Murphy has carved out a consistent role for himself, putting up first-round value over the past month. His ability to score efficiently from anywhere on the floor, while also contributing on the defensive end, makes him a key piece for the Pelicans as they look to push for the sixth seed.

Murphy produced 21 points (6-9 FG, 4-6 3Pt, 5-5 FT), three rebounds, three assists, two blocks and one steal in 38 minutes during Tuesday's 120-109 loss to Golden State.

After draining 10 threes last Saturday, he suffered a huge regression Monday night, nailing only one deep ball in seven attempts. Murphy was back on track in Tuesday's loss, going 4-of-6 from long range to record his seventh-best scoring total of the season. With Zion Williamson's (hamstring) playoff outlook in doubt, Murphy's role in the starting lineup should remain safe for now.

Murphy closed Saturday's 131-110 win over the Clippers with 32 points (11-14 FG, 10-12 3Pt), two rebounds, one assist, one block and two steals over 37 minutes.

Murphy provided 10 of his team's 21 three-pointers in an absolute thrashing of the Clippers. While it Murphy's tour-de-force seems a bit uncommon, he completed nine-three pointers against the Trail Blazers only two weeks ago. The Pelicans are barely clinging to a playoff berth, but they would be far worse off without Murphy, who has been an incredibly effective placeholder for Zion Williamson (hamstring).

Murphy (toe) is available to play Saturday against the Clippers.

Murphy was trending toward being available, so this shouldn't surprise fantasy managers who have rostered the former Virginia standout. In his last 10 appearances, Murphy has averaged 18.7 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.3 steals over 36.0 minutes.

This is unfortunate for the Pelicans, as Murphy has been on a tear from beyond the arc. Over the past 11 games, the sharpshooter has averaged 3.8 three-pointers per game. If he's unable to play Saturday, the Pelicans could turn to Josh Richardson and Naji Marshall to pick up the slack.

Murphy finished with 19 points (7-14 FG, 4-8 3Pt, 1-1 FT), two rebounds, one assist and four steals in 33 minutes during Thursday's 115-96 victory over the Hornets.

Murphy's defensive prowess was on full display Thursday as he set a new season high with four steals. After a brief hiatus from the starting lineup at the end of February, the second-year wing has drawn 10 straight starts and scored in double figures during each of those contests, averaging 18.7 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.3 steals and 0.8 blocks across 36.1 minutes. During that stretch, he's shooting 49.2 percent from the field and 44.3 percent from deep.

Murphy provided 17 points (6-12 FG, 3-9 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds and one block in 31 minutes during Tuesday's 119-84 win over the Spurs.

Murphy scored double-digits for the ninth straight game, continuing what has been a resurgence of sorts. After a period in which he failed to score more than nine points in four of five games, Murphy has steadied, putting up top-25 value over the past two weeks. While his value is primarily built around being an efficient yet low-volume scorer, he can chip in on the defensive end from time to time, making him a must-roster player moving forward.

Murphy fell back to earth following his 41-point performance against the Trail Blazers on Sunday, but he still tied for the second-highest scoring total on the team during Tuesday's loss while also matching his highest steal mark of the season. The 22-year-old has started six consecutive matchups and has averaged 20.7 points and 4.5 rebounds in 37.0 minutes per game during that time.

Murphy totaled 41 points (13-20 FG, 9-14 3Pt, 6-6 FT), seven rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal in 30 minutes during Sunday's 127-110 win over the Trail Blazers.

Murphy was unstoppable Sunday and carried a shorthanded Pelicans team to victory with an impressive shooting display. This 41-point outing was an outlier, but it's worth noting Murphy has scored at least 15 points in each of his last five outings while averaging 15.4 points per game since the beginning of February.

Murphy racked up 15 points (5-12 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 3-4 FT), four rebounds, two assists and one block in 41 minutes during Saturday's 110-96 loss to Oklahoma City.

Murphy's overall stat line looks decent, but his shooting wasn't accurate, and he was particularly woeful from three-point range after making just two of his seven attempts. Regardless of the shooting woes, Murphy keeps finding ways to produce and has scored in double digits in nine of his last 10 starts.

Murphy supplied 16 points (5-9 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 3-3 FT), six rebounds, two assists, two blocks and one steal across 38 minutes during Wednesday's 113-106 victory over Dallas.

While Murphy produced only five points in the first half on 2-of-3 shooting from the field, he did establish his presence on the defensive end with four rebounds, two blocks and a steal. He started to find his stroke after the break, going 3-of-6 from the floor, including 3-of-4 from beyond the arc, for another 11 points in the second half as the Pelicans took care of the Mavericks at home. Murphy has now scored at least 15 points in three straight since being inserted into the starting lineup and has knocked down at least three three-pointers in all four games this month.

Murphy tallied 17 points (6-11 FG, 4-9 3Pt, 1-1 FT), five rebounds, four assists, two steals and two blocks across 37 minutes in Monday's 123-108 loss to the Kings.

While replacing Josh Richardson (personal) in the starting five for the second game in a row, Murphy once again delivered a strong all-around line in elevated minutes. Richardson's absence isn't believed to be a long-term one, and he could be back as soon as Wednesday's game against the Mavericks, but Murphy's performance of late provides plenty of justification for head coach Willie Green to keep the second-year wing in the starting five. Even if Murphy maintains his starting role when Richardson is back in action, however, he's likely to see a reduction in the 37.5 minutes per game he's averaged over the past two contests.

Murphy logged 15 points (6-14 FG, 3-9 3Pt), two rebounds, two assists and one steal across 38 minutes during Friday's 108-99 loss to the Warriors.

Murphy was reinserted into the starting lineup with Josh Richardson (personal) out, and he made the most of his extended playing time by scoring his most points since Feb. 10. The second-year wing is now averaging 13.4 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.0 steals across 47 starts this season.

Murphy is in the starting lineup for Friday's game versus the Warriors, Christian Clark of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.

Murphy will replace Josh Richardson (personal) in the starting unit Friday. The second-year forward is averaging 13.4 points, 3.6 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.0 steals in 30.3 minutes across his 46 starts this season.

Murphy will come off the bench for Thursday's game against Toronto.

Murphy will make his first appearance with the reserves since Nov. 25 as Coach Willie Green will instead opt to start Josh Richardson. Murphy has come off the bench 10 times this season, averaging 10.8 points and 4.1 rebounds across 25.1 minutes.

Murphy closed with two points (0-6 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds and one steal across 20 minutes during Wednesday's 120-102 loss to the Lakers.

Murphy had scored in double figures in his five appearances ahead of Wednesday's matchup, but he saw decreased playing time against the Lakers and failed to convert any of his field-goal attempts during the loss. Over seven outings in February, he's averaged 15.3 points and 3.6 rebounds in 30.6 minutes per game.

Murphy finished Friday's 118-107 loss to the Cavaliers with 17 points (7-13 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 1-2 FT) and four rebounds in 34 minutes.

Zion Williamson (strained right hamstring) will be re-evaluated after the All-Star break, so Murphy will continue seeing an uptick in minutes and usage. He came into Friday's game on a heater, averaging 22.3 points, 4.7 three-pointers, 4.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists over his previous three games, leading the Pelicans in 9-category value in that stretch.

Murphy finished with 30 points (9-11 FG, 6-8 3Pt, 6-7 FT), four rebounds, two assists and one steal in 36 minutes during Sunday's 136-104 victory over the Kings.

Murphy led all players in Sunday's game in threes made en route to setting a season-high scoring mark with a 30-point showing. Murphy has tallied 20 or more points in two straight games.

Murphy recorded 21 points (7-12 FG, 4-9 3Pt, 3-3 FT) and five rebounds across 28 minutes during Saturday's 131-126 victory over the Lakers.

Murphy was efficient from the field and ended up as one of New Orleans' best scorers in this comeback win, as he reached the 20-point plateau for the first time since Dec. 28. Don't expect Murphy to be one of New Orleans' biggest scoring weapons on a regular basis, however, as he's averaging just 12.4 points per contest across 18 outings since the calendar flipped to January and has scored more than 15 points just six times in that span.

Murphy finished with 14 points (6-11 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 1-1 FT), three rebounds, two steals and one assist across 32 minutes in Tuesday's 122-113 loss to the Nuggets.

For the second game in a row, Murphy reached the teens in scoring while knocking down at least half of his shot attempts and chipping in at least one steal. Though his production in the past two games isn't anything eye-popping, Murphy has at least provided some hope that he can retain some utility in 12-team category leagues even with Brandon Ingram having returned to action following an extended absence. Murphy could find it more difficult to hold down a regular 30-minute role once Zion Williamson (hamstring) is playing again, however.

Murphy ended Saturday's 113-103 loss to the Wizards with 10 points (4-11 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 1-1 FT), two rebounds, two blocks and one steal in 27 minutes.

Murphy continues to do a lot of standing around for the Pelicans, providing nothing but frustration for his managers. While he has been a top 110 player over the past month, the majority of his value comes from his lack of turnovers and high efficiency from the free throw line. He is fine to have on a 12-team roster but given he has been unable to break out, even with key pieces out, his long-term value remains questionable.

Murphy put together a solid fantasy line, built primarily on his efficiency from the floor. He has now scored at least 15 points in four of his past five games, reversing a trend that saw him dropped in a number of standard formats. While not the flashiest player around, his role is relatively secure at this point, making him a must-roster player, especially for anyone in need of an efficient scorer.

Murphy logged 19 points (6-11 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 4-4 FT), two rebounds, two assists, one block and two steals over 35 minutes during Friday's 116-110 win over Detroit.

Murphy drilled three triples and was aggressive on the offensive end, as Friday marked his second time in January attempting eight shots from deep. He's also managed to record at least one block and one steal in each of his last three games.

Murphy accumulated 15 points (7-11 FG, 1-4 3Pt), six rebounds, one assist, one block and three steals across 34 minutes during Wednesday's 125-114 loss to the Celtics.

Murphy had been held to 13 total points over his last two contests combined heading into Wednesday's clash, but he managed to find success in Boston. He posted an efficient shooting night, and he also led his team with three steals. Muphy has now scored in double figures in three of his last five matchups.

Murphy racked up seven points (3-7 FG, 1-4 3Pt), two rebounds, one assist and one block in 25 minutes during Saturday's 127-117 loss to the Mavericks.

Murphy came up short again Saturday, managing just seven points despite sticking in the starting unit. Early fouls limited him to just 25 minutes, although he wasn't having a sizeable impact even without the fouls. It appears as though he will remain a starter for the foreseeable future, making him a viable asset in 12-team formats. His production of late may indicate otherwise, resulting in him being dropped in a few spots. If that is the case in your league, he is certainly worth considering.

Murphy (ankle) will play in Saturday's game against the Grizzlies, Andrew Lopez of ESPN.com reports.

He is probably worth holding in standard leagues, at least until Brandon Ingram (toe) returns, although his ceiling does appear somewhat capped given the depth of the Pelicans roster.

He's averaging 12.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.6 assists in December while shooting 43.4 percent from the field and 38.7 percent from deep, and while those numbers are solid to keep him rostered in most formats, his playing time and opportunities to contribute will decrease once either Williamson or Ingram return to the hardwood.

Murphy ended with 15 points (5-8 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 4-5 FT), four rebounds, one assist and two steals in 28 minutes during Thursday's 126-117 victory over San Antonio.

Murphy had been cold before his past two outings, shooting 30.6 percent from the field and 29.2 percent from three from Dec. 9 through Dec. 17. While he's still a modest 2-for-6 from distance over the past two games, he's a much improved 57.1 percent from the field. Fantasy managers should continue rostering Murphy, though once Brandon Ingram (toe) and Zion Williamson (COVID-19 protocols) are back, he may have fewer opportunities.

Murphy ended with 13 points (3-6 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 6-6 FT) and five rebounds over 28 minutes during Monday's 128-119 loss to the Bucks.

Murphy didn't score a ton from the field, knocking down just three total shots, but he made up for it by getting to the free-throw line and matching his season-high output with six makes. Murphy typically does most of his damage on the defensive end of the floor for fantasy purposes, racking up 1.6 blocks-plus-steals per game, but he's infused some additional scoring in his second season (up to 12.2 points per game from 5.4 as a rookie) to garner more fantasy interest. However, Murphy's production has checked up a bit of late and figures to really stall once Brandon Ingram (toe) rejoins the fold.

Murphy racked up zero points (0-7 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 0-1 FT), two assists, one block and one steal in 25 minutes during Tuesday's 121-100 loss to the Jazz.

Murphy failed to score in the loss, missing all seven of his shot attempts. As a player who has been added in the majority of leagues, this will certainly leave a sour taste in the mouths of those who snapped him up. With that said, he has shown enough thus far this season for this to be written off as simply a bad night. The Pelicans will face off against the Jazz again Thursday, where Murphy will look to get things back on track.

Murphy posted 17 points (6-15 FG, 5-12 3Pt), three rebounds, two assists, one block and two steals over 33 minutes during Friday's 117-99 win over the Spurs.

Murphy continues to play a large role on the shorthanded Pelicans. Murphy is averaging 15.7 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.4 steals in 10 games as a starter this season. Notably, across his last three contests, Murphy is connecting on 41.9 percent of 10.3 three-point attempts per game.

Murphy registered 26 points (8-17 FG, 6-12 3Pt, 4-4 FT), five rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal across 37 minutes during Wednesday's 126-108 win over the Raptors.

Murphy came off the bench and did most of his damage in the second quarter on 4-of-6 shooting from the field for 12 points, including 3-of-5 from beyond the arc. He chipped in another 11 points in the second half while also grabbing up three rebounds in the final quarter as the Raptors failed to keep pace with a red-hot Pelicans offense. Murphy has now recorded three 20-point games in a row after previously failing to reach that mark in all but one game this season.

The Virginia product has now put up 20 or more points in back-to-back contests on 14-for-27 from the field.

Murphy isn't quite a must-own player in fantasy yet, but he's shown considerable improvement this season with per-game averages of 11.9 points, 4.8 boards, 1.5 assists, 2.3 triples and 1.0 steals.

Granted the team was without a couple of regular pieces but even when healthy, he has looked right at home running with the starters. Quite clearly, he should be added everywhere right now.

Even fantasy managers in standard leagues should add Murphy to their watchlist.

Either way, Murphy will be a name worth monitoring in deeper fantasy leagues.

Murphy projects to compete with Josh Hart, Garrett Temple and Naji Marshall for minutes off the bench.
