Rolls to 32-point night
Murphy produced 32 points (13-21 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 4-5 FT), three rebounds, four assists, one block and two steals across 38 minutes during Monday's 135-132 loss to the Spurs.
ANALYSIS
Murphy fared well on the offensive end in this one, knocking down 61.9 percent of his attempts from the field while contributing across the board. He's now put up 30-plus points in two of his last four appearances, averaging 27.3 points, 7.5 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 1.5 steals over this stretch.
Dec 7, 2025
Pops for team-high 23 in loss
Murphy ended Saturday's 119-101 loss to the Nets with 23 points (10-17 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 1-2 FT), five rebounds, five assists and two steals across 35 minutes.
ANALYSIS
The fifth-year wing led the Pelicans in scoring as he topped 20 points for the third straight game since returning from an elbow injury. In those three contests to kick off December, Murphy's averaging 25.7 points, 9.0 boards, 5.7 assists, 2.0 threes and 1.3 steals, and he'll continue to see sky-high usage given all the injuries on the New Orleans roster.
Dec 4, 2025
Nets 21 points with eight dimes
Murphy contributed 21 points (7-17 FG, 0-5 3Pt, 7-8 FT), seven rebounds, eight assists and two steals in 34 minutes during Thursday's 125-116 loss to Minnesota.
ANALYSIS
Murphy did an excellent job of putting his playmaking skills on display in this one, notching a new season high in assists while only committing two turnovers. The only knock against him Thursday was the 0-for-5 performance from three-point territory, but the New Orleans marksman should have no trouble bouncing back Saturday with a matchup against one of the worst defensive teams in the league in Brooklyn.
Dec 2, 2025
Will play Tuesday
Murphy (elbow) is available for Tuesday's game against Minnesota, Will Guillory of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Murphy is ending a two-game absence with an elbow injury. With Zion Williamson (adductor) iffy for Tuesday, Murphy could have massive usage on his plate. Murphy has averaged 19.7 points, 6.2 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.7 steals per contest in 19 games this season.
Dec 1, 2025
Iffy for Tuesday
Murphy (elbow) is listed as questionable for Tuesday's game against the Timberwolves.
ANALYSIS
Murphy is in jeopardy of missing his third consecutive contest due to a strained right elbow. If the 25-year-old swingman remains on the shelf, Saddiq Bey, Micah Peavy and Bryce McGowens are candidates for increased playing time. Over his last five outings, Murphy has averaged 19.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 2.4 steals across 35.2 minutes per game.
Nov 30, 2025
Out again Sunday
Murphy (elbow) will not suit up for Sunday's game against the Lakers.
ANALYSIS
Murphy will miss his second straight game due to the elbow issue, and for now, he should be considered questionable for Tuesday's game against the Timberwolves. Bryce McGowens will likely earn another start Sunday, while Saddiq Bey will see a massive spike in usage with Zion Williamson (hamstring) also unavailable.
Nov 29, 2025
Ruled out Saturday
Murphy (elbow) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Warriors.
ANALYSIS
Murphy will miss his first game of the season due to right elbow soreness, and his next opportunity to play will come Sunday against the Lakers. With the 25-year-old swingman joining Herbert Jones (calf), Jordan Poole (quadriceps) and Jordan Hawkins (illness) on the sidelines, Saddiq Bey, Micah Peavy and Bryce McGowens are candidates for increased playing time.
Nov 28, 2025
Questionable for Saturday
Murphy is questionable to play Saturday against the Warriors due to a sore right elbow.
ANALYSIS
Murphy is dealing with some soreness in his shooting arm, so there's a chance he'll need to skip the first leg of this upcoming back-to-back set. If Murphy is forced to join Jordan Poole (quad), Herbert Jones (calf) and Jordan Hawkins (illness) on the sidelines, that would create some massive opportunity for guys like Saddiq Bey, Micah Peavy and Bryce McGowens.
Nov 22, 2025
Goes for 25 points
Murphy provided 25 points (7-14 FG, 1-7 3Pt, 10-10 FT), three rebounds, one block and three steals over 35 minutes during Friday's 118-115 loss to the Mavericks.
ANALYSIS
Murphy is firmly entrenched as one of the most reliable scoring options for the Pelicans this season, and the forward has often hovered around the 20-point mark while also putting up solid numbers in other categories. Murphy has posted 20 or more points in seven of his last eight games, averaging 25.6 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 2.4 steals per game in his last eight contests.
Nov 20, 2025
Logs season high in loss
Murphy supplied 23 points (7-14 FG, 5-12 3Pt, 4-4 FT), five steals, three assists, two rebounds and one block across 36 minutes in Wednesday's 125-118 loss to the Nuggets.
ANALYSIS
Murphy knocked down a season-high-tying five triples and finished as New Orleans' second-leading scorer, albeit in a losing effort. The fifth-year swingman continues to provide value on both ends of the floor. He tallied a season-high five steals against Denver and has recorded at least three swipes in three straight games. The 25-year-old has also scored at least 18 points in each of his last seven outings.
Nov 16, 2025
Season-high four steals Sunday
Murphy registered 20 points (6-13 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 6-6 FT), eight rebounds, two assists and four steals across 31 minutes during Sunday's 124-106 loss to Golden State.
ANALYSIS
Murphy led the team in scoring and turned in a season-high four steals, but it wasn't enough to prevent a blowout defeat. Zion Williamson (hamstring) appears to be on the verge of returning to the court, which lead to a dip in usage for Murphy soon. In any case, Murphy has averaged a strong 19.8 points, 6.9 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.5 steals in 13 games this season, shooting 45.6 percent from the field.
Nov 15, 2025
Outstanding effort not enough
Murphy ended Friday's 118-104 loss to the Lakers with 35 points (13-21 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 6-6 FT), six rebounds and one steal across 39 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Murphy was a problem the Lakers' defense just couldn't solve, and he led the Pelicans in scoring by a wide margin in this loss. The fifth-year forward endured a bit of a slow start this season but has been on a tear of late. This was his fourth straight game with 20-plus points, and the second time he reached the 35-point mark in that span. Look for Murphy to remain as the Pelicans' undisputed go-to option on offense, especially with Zion Williamson (hamstring) sidelined and not returning until next week at the earliest.
Nov 13, 2025
Stuffs stat sheet Wednesday
Murphy accumulated 22 points (8-18 FG, 3-11 3Pt, 3-3 FT), five rebounds, five assists and one steal over 39 minutes during Wednesday's 125-117 loss to the Trail Blazers.
ANALYSIS
Murphy posted a solid stat line across the board and continues to play at a high level since that 41-point outburst in the loss to the Spurs on Nov. 8. With Zion Williamson (hamstring) out, Murphy has been forced to step up into a bigger scoring role for the Pelicans but has done a good job in that regard. He's reached the 20-point mark in four of his last five outings, averaging 23.2 points, 7.2 boards and 4.0 assists per game in that stretch.
Nov 11, 2025
Double-doubles against Phoenix
Murphy chipped in 21 points (6-14 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 7-9 FT), 10 rebounds, four assists and two steals across 33 minutes during Monday's 121-98 loss to the Suns.
ANALYSIS
Murphy was unable to repeat the 41-point outburst he delivered against the Spurs on Saturday, but he surpassed the 20-point mark for the fourth time this season. There's a strong argument to say Murphy has been the Pelicans' best player this season -- even ahead of Zion Williamson (hamstring) -- and is on a scoring tear with an average of 21.7 points per contest over his last six games while shooting 48.4 percent from the floor in that stretch.
Nov 9, 2025
Erupts for season-high 41 points
Murphy totaled 41 points (15-22 FG, 5-11 3Pt, 6-6 FT), nine rebounds, three assists and one steal over 38 minutes during Saturday's 126-119 loss to the Spurs.
ANALYSIS
Murphy delivered his best performance of the season, tallying a game-high 41 points, albeit in another loss. Despite a somewhat passive start to the season, Murphy has been easily the best fantasy asset on this Pelicans roster, averaging 17.8 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 2.9 three-pointers. Until Zion Williamson is cleared to return from a hamstring injury, look for Murphy to continue shouldering the bulk of the offensive load.
Nov 5, 2025
Just falls short of double-double
Murphy recorded 11 points (3-12 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 4-4 FT), nine rebounds, five assists, one block and two steals across 38 minutes during Wednesday's 101-99 victory over the Mavericks.
ANALYSIS
After drilling five threes in each of his past three games, Murphy cooled down quite a bit Wednesday. The star forward should see some extra shots fall his way until the Pelicans get Zion Williamson (hamstring) and Jordan Poole (knee) back into the lineup. Murphy has averaged a productive 14.9 points, 6.4 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.3 steals per contest in eight games this season, but he's shooting just 38.3 percent from the floor.
Nov 4, 2025
Drops 21 points in win
Murphy racked up 21 points (7-16 FG, 5-10 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds, three assists, one steal and one block across 37 minutes during Tuesday's 116-112 win over the Hornets.
ANALYSIS
Murphy continues to be lights out from beyond the arc, as he has hit five three-pointers in three consecutive games. The Virginia product may be playing on a bad team, but he definitely has substantial fantasy value.
Nov 2, 2025
Sinks five treys in loss
Murphy provided 19 points (7-13 FG, 5-10 3Pt), five rebounds, two assists and one steal across 32 minutes during Sunday's 137-106 loss to the Thunder.
ANALYSIS
The fifth-year wing sank five three-pointers for the second straight game, as Murphy begins to heat up from downtown. He's scored in double digits in four of six contests to begin the season, averaging 14.5 points, 6.5 boards, 3.5 assists, 2.5 threes and 1.2 steals while shooting 34.9 percent (15-for-43) from beyond the arc.
Oct 30, 2025
Poor shooting continues
Murphy finished with seven points (1-8 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 4-4 FT), seven rebounds and one steal across 32 minutes during Wednesday's 122-88 loss to the Nuggets.
ANALYSIS
Murphy couldn't get anything going in the loss, shooting under 30 percent for the second straight game. Outside of one solid performance against the Spurs, Murphy has struggled to begin the season, averaging 12.8 points, 7.3 rebounds, 1.0 steals and 1.3 three-pointers across the first four games. Look for him to bounce back sooner rather than later, making this an ideal time to buy low in fantasy leagues.
Oct 25, 2025
Notches 24 point double-double
Murphy finished Friday's 120-116 overtime loss to the Spurs with 24 points (9-18 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 3-3 FT), 10 rebounds, five assists and three steals in 46 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Following a modest box score in the Pelicans opener, Murphy excelled against the Spurs. He was dialed in on the boards, efficient from the field, and active on defense. His 46 minutes led all players in Friday's overtime loss. He'll have the weekend to recuperate before attempting to repeat that effort against Boston Monday.
Oct 23, 2025
Quiet in loss to Memphis
Murphy registered 13 points (5-15 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT), seven rebounds and three assists across 32 minutes during Wednesday's 128-122 loss to the Grizzlies.
ANALYSIS
Murphy had a rough showing in Wednesday's season-opening loss, but there were some positives to take from this. Murphy's workload was rock solid, and he finished second on the team in shot attempts behind Zion Williamson. Murphy put up a third-round valuation in nine-category leagues during the 2024-25 regular season, and fantasy managers can expect him to hit his stride shortly.
Oct 17, 2025
Scores 18 points in loss
Murphy recorded 18 points (7-14 FG, 4-8 3Pt), seven rebounds, three assists and one turnover across 23 minutes of Thursday's 132-125 preseason loss to Orlando.
ANALYSIS
Murphy will be in high demand in fantasy drafts this season after showing some serious upside during the 2024-25 regular season -- he averaged 21.2 points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.1 steals across 35.0 minutes per game in 53 appearances. Even with the Pelicans getting some healthy bodies back this season, Murphy is likely to command a ton of looks in this offense.
Oct 14, 2025
Available Tuesday
Murphy (foot) is available for Tuesday's preseason game against the Rockets, Will Guillory of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Murphy will suit up in the team's penultimate preseason game after missing the Pelicans' win over the Melbourne Phoenix on Oct. 4 due to left foot soreness. The 25-year-old wing appeared in 53 regular-season games (51 starts) in 2024-25, during which he averaged 21.2 points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.1 steals across 35.0 minutes per game.
Oct 4, 2025
Won't play Saturday
Murphy won't play in Saturday's exhibition game against Melbourne due to left foot soreness, Erin Summers of the Gulf Coast Sports & Entertainment Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Murphy will miss the second half of the club's back-to-back set against Melbourne. He posted 18 points (7-13 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three steals and one rebound across 19 minutes in Friday's win. His next opportunity to suit up in the preseason will come against the Rockets on Tuesday, Oct. 14.
Sep 22, 2025
A full go for camp
Pelicans executive vice president Joe Dumars said Murphy, who recently recovered from a torn labrum and partial rotator cuff tear in his right shoulder, has been scrimmaging non-stop for the past two weeks, Will Guillory of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Dumars added that Murphy has been operating at full speed, meaning he should be a full go ahead of training camp. Murphy is coming off a career-best 2024-25 campaign with averages of 21.2 points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 3.0 three-pointers, 1.1 steals and 0.7 blocks across 35.6 minutes per contest, though he could see slightly less usage in 2025-26 if Zion Williamson manages to stay healthy.
Mar 18, 2025
Out for remainder of season
Murphy sustained a season-ending torn labrum in his right shoulder during Monday's 127-81 loss to the Pistons, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Murphy dove for a loose ball and exited to the locker room less than a minute into the game. The 24-year-old swingman was in the midst of a career-best year, and he contributed averages of 21.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 3.0 three-pointers, 1.1 steals and 0.8 blocks across 35.6 minutes per contest in 52 regular-season games entering Monday. He also shot a fairly respectable 45.4 percent from the field and 36.1 percent from downtown. Murphy will likely undergo surgery depending on the severity of the injury, though the Pelicans are expected to provide updates whenever appropriate.
Mar 17, 2025
Won't return Monday
Murphy won't return to Monday's game against the Pistons due to a right shoulder injury, though his X-rays came back negative.
ANALYSIS
Murphy exited to locker room after diving for a loose ball less than one minute into the game. He finished with no counting stats in that minute. The 24-year-old has been an extremely reliable option for the Pelicans of late, and while he's sidelined, Jordan Hawkins and Bruce Brown will likely see an uptick in playing time.
Mar 17, 2025
Heads to locker room Monday
Murphy went to the locker room in the first quarter of Monday's game against Detroit due to a shoulder injury, Will Guillory of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Murphy looked to be in serious pain after diving for a loose ball early in the first quarter. He had his left shoulder checked on by trainers before heading to the locker room, and Jordan Hawkins should see a significant increase in playing time for as long as Murphy is sidelined.
Mar 14, 2025
Supplies 17 points in loss
Murphy registered 17 points (5-12 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 6-6 FT), five rebounds and two assists across 34 minutes during Thursday's 113-93 loss to the Magic.
ANALYSIS
The fourth-year forward remains a consistent contributor for the Pelicans. Murphy has scored in double digits in all 51 of his appearances this season, and through 12 contests since the All-Star break he's averaged 19.2 points, 5.0 boards, 3.7 assists, 2.5 threes, 0.9 steals and 0.8 blocks. While his floor is rock solid however, Murphy hasn't offered much of a ceiling of late and hasn't delivered 30 or more points since Feb. 3.
Mar 10, 2025
Stuffs stat sheet Sunday
Murphy contributed 27 points (9-21 FG, 2-9 3Pt, 7-9 FT), five rebounds, two assists and two blocks across 37 minutes during Sunday's 107-104 loss to the Grizzlies.
ANALYSIS
Murphy embraced a bigger role on offense due to the absences of CJ McCollum and Zion Williamson due to rest, and that resulted in him leading the Pelicans in scoring. Murphy has reached the 20-point mark in three of his last five appearances and is having a breakout on offense in 2024-25, averaging a career-high 21.8 points per game across 49 appearances while shooting 45.6 percent from the floor and 36.1 percent from three-point range.
Mar 7, 2025
Game-high 26 not enough Thursday
Murphy totaled 26 points (9-15 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 5-5 FT), five rebounds and two blocks across 39 minutes during Thursday's 109-97 loss to the Rockets.
ANALYSIS
The fourth-year wing led all scorers on the night, but Murphy couldn't stop Houston from pulling away in the second half. He's drained multiple three-pointers in seven of eight games since the All-Star break, averaging 19.0 points, 5.1 boards, 4.4 assists, 3.0 threes, 1.1 steals and 0.9 blocks over that stretch.
Mar 3, 2025
Posts all-around fantasy line
Murphy racked up 20 points (8-20 FG, 3-13 3Pt, 1-1 FT), six rebounds, six assists, one block and two steals over 36 minutes during Sunday's 128-121 win over the Jazz.
ANALYSIS
Murphy has been cold from the field over his last 10 games, hitting 37.5 percent of his shots. He's still been productive on the stat sheet, however, averaging 18.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, 5.8 assists, 1.0 steals, 0.6 blocks and 2.9 three-pointers in 36.9 minutes per game. He'll almost certainly continue to be a focal point of the offense the rest of the way.
Mar 1, 2025
Sniffs double-double
Murphy ended with 10 points (3-8 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds, eight assists, one block and one steal over 35 minutes during Friday's 125-108 loss to the Suns.
ANALYSIS
Murphy embraced a bigger role in the playmaking department due to the absences of players such as CJ McCollum and Zion Williamson due to rest, and he finished just two assists away from recording a double-double. A do-it-all forward who can leave his mark on both ends of the court on a regular basis, Murphy is averaging 21.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, 5.8 assists and a combined 1.5 steals-plus-blocks across 11 appearances in February.
Feb 25, 2025
Leads New Orleans in victory
Murphy produced 24 points (9-21 FG, 3-10 3Pt, 3-4 FT), four rebounds, four assists, two blocks and two steals over 36 minutes during Tuesday's 109-103 victory over the Spurs.
ANALYSIS
Murphy recorded a game-high 24 points, marking his 25th outing with 20-plus points this season. The fourth-year pro has been a bright spot during a lackluster 2024-25 campaign for the Pelicans, and he has yet to score in single digits through 42 regular-season appearances. Murphy also recorded multiple blocks and steals for just the third time this season Tuesday, and he is on pace to average career highs in both swipes (1.2) and swats (0.7).
Feb 21, 2025
Hits four threes Friday
Murphy finished Friday's 111-103 loss to the Mavericks with 20 points (7-19 FG, 4-8 3Pt, 2-2 FT), six rebounds, six assists and two steals over 36 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Murphy wasn't all that efficient from within the arc Friday, but he connected on 50 percent of his three-point attempts and was responsible for four of the Pelicans' three-pointers in the loss. Murphy is enjoying a career year in his fourth NBA season, and over his last 10 outings he has averaged 25.2 points on 50.3 percent shooting (including 46.3 percent from three on 8.2 3PA/G), 5.8 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 1.1 steals over 37.6 minutes per game.
Feb 14, 2025
Sniffs triple-double in win
Murphy closed with 18 points (4-17 FG, 1-9 3Pt, 9-12 FT), 11 assists and nine rebounds over 44 minutes during Thursday's 140-133 overtime victory over the Kings.
ANALYSIS
Murphy posted his second double-double of the season while leading the Pelicans in assists, albeit in an off night shooting the rock. Additionally, the 24-year-old tied Jose Alvarado as the club's second-leading scorer behind CJ McCollum (43 points). Through six outings during February, Murphy is averaging 24.3 points, 6.7 assists, 5.7 rebounds and 3.2 three-pointers across 37.2 minutes per contest.
Feb 11, 2025
Hits four threes against OKC
Murphy chipped in 23 points (7-15 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 5-5 FT), seven rebounds, five assists and one steal in 34 minutes during Monday's 137-101 loss to Oklahoma City.
ANALYSIS
Murphy is having arguably the best season of his career for the Pelicans. The talented 22-year-old drained four of his seven attempts from beyond the arc in Monday's loss to the Thunder, leading New Orleans with a game-high 23 points. He's averaging career-high numbers across the board during the 2024-25 campaign, with 22.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.2 steals per game.
Feb 9, 2025
Drops 20 in Saturday's loss
Murphy recorded 20 points (7-18 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 3-4 FT), six rebounds, seven assists and two steals over 38 minutes during Saturday's 123-118 loss to the Kings.
ANALYSIS
The fourth-year forward has produced 20-plus points in five straight games and drained multiple three-pointers in seven straight, although Murphy's production hasn't been enough to help the Pelicans end their eight-game losing streak. During those seven contests, Murphy is averaging 26.9 points, 5.1 boards, 5.0 assists, 4.3 threes and 1.4 steals while shooting 55.3 percent from the floor and 49.2 percent from long distance.
Feb 6, 2025
Flirts with double-double in loss
Murphy closed with 25 points (9-16 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 5-5 FT), five rebounds, nine assists and one block over 32 minutes during Wednesday's 144-119 loss to the Nuggets.
ANALYSIS
Murphy was Brandon Ingram's (hamstring) replacement for much of the season, and Ingram's trade has given Murphy the keys for the long term. Murphy has certainly earned the role, often ending the night with the team's high score and the ability to pop off for huge numbers on any given evening. Murphy recently enjoyed two consecutive 40-plus point totals after dropping off slightly Wednesday evening.
Feb 4, 2025
Erupts for 41 points
Murphy finished Monday's 125-113 loss to the Nuggets with 41 points (13-21 FG, 8-12 3Pt, 7-7 FT), three rebounds, three assists, one block and two steals in 38 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Murphy matched his career-best mark of 41 points and is officially on a heater -- over his last three games, Murphy has been the No. 1 overall producer in nine-category fantasy value with 37.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.3 steals and 7.0 three-pointers on 70.7 percent from the field. It's quite clear that he's becoming the focal point of this offense.
Feb 1, 2025
Close to matching career-high mark
Murphy chipped in 40 points (15-20 FG, 8-12 3Pt, 2-3 FT), five rebounds, four assists and one steal in 39 minutes during Friday's 118-116 loss to the Celtics.
ANALYSIS
Murphy led the way for the Pelicans on offense in a game where they didn't have Zion Williamson (illness) and where Dejounte Murray suffered a season-ending torn Achilles. Murphy was so good offensively in this game that he ended just one point shy of tying his previous career-high scoring mark, established against the Trail Blazers on March 12, 2023. Murphy should embrace a bigger role on offense moving forward given how depleted the Pelicans are.
Jan 30, 2025
Leads all scorers despite loss
Murphy amassed 32 points (13-17 FG, 5-9 3Pt, 1-1 FT), six rebounds, four assists and one steal across 39 minutes during Wednesday's 137-136 loss to the Mavericks.
ANALYSIS
Murphy continues to serve as arguably the Pelicans best player, scoring at least 20 points for the seventh time in his past 10 appearances. A lengthy ankle-related injury to Brandon Ingram has afforded Murphy a regular starting spot. Over the past month, he has delivered outstanding numbers, putting up 23.4 points, 5.9 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 3.1 three-pointers and 2.4 combined steals and blocks in 37.2 minutes per game.
Jan 25, 2025
Scores 22 points in defeat
Murphy had 22 points (7-14 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 7-9 FT), six rebounds and four assists over 33 minutes during Friday's 139-126 loss to the Grizzlies.
ANALYSIS
Murphy has been playing at a high level in recent weeks, and he's growing more and more comfortable in a prominent role on offense due to the absence of some of the team's most prolific scoring weapons, such as Zion Williamson (illness) and Brandon Ingram (ankle). Murphy missed three games in early January due to an ankle injury but has looked impressive since returning to the hardwood six games ago, averaging 25.2 points, 6.7 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.0 blocks per game in that stretch.
Jan 15, 2025
Pours in 32 in road win
Murphy recorded 32 points (9-20 FG, 2-13 3Pt, 12-12 FT), six rebounds, four assists, one block and three steals over 37 minutes during Tuesday's 119-113 win over the Bulls.
ANALYSIS
The fourth-year forward has produced back-to-back performances with 30-plus points since returning from an ankle injury that cost him three games. Injuries have been the only thing standing between Murphy and a true breakout campaign -- he's suited up for only 25 of the Pelicans' 41 games this season, but he's scored in double digits and drained multiple three-pointers in each appearance while averaging 21.5 points, 4.8 boards, 3.2 threes, 2.8 assists and 1.2 steals.
Jan 12, 2025
Leads offense in return to lineup
Murphy supplied 30 points (10-17 FG, 5-10 3Pt, 5-5 FT), seven rebounds and four assists over 39 minutes during Sunday's 120-119 loss to Boston.
ANALYSIS
Murphy returned Sunday after missing the last three games with an ankle injury, lifting New Orleans offensively while leading all players in scoring and finishing as one of two players with five or more threes in a close defeat. Murphy matched his season-high total in threes made, doing so on four occasions so far this year. He has now surpassed the 30-point mark in three contests, all three of those occurrences taking place over his last six appearances.
Jan 11, 2025
Set to return Sunday
Murphy (ankle) is available for Sunday's game versus the Celtics.
ANALYSIS
Murphy will return to action Sunday after missing New Orleans' previous three contests due to a sprained left ankle. Murphy is averaging 23.8 points, 4.9 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.2 steals in 34.7 minutes across his last 10 appearances.
Jan 9, 2025
Another absence coming
Murphy (ankle) is out for Friday's game versus the 76ers.
ANALYSIS
Murphy will miss his third straight contest Friday due to a left ankle sprain. Murphy's next chance to suit up is Sunday's matchup with Boston.
Jan 8, 2025
Won't suit up Wednesday
Murphy (ankle) will miss Wednesday's game against Portland.
ANALYSIS
Murphy will end up missing both games of this back-to-back set and should be considered questionable to return Friday against the 76ers. With Zion Williamson (rest) also out, Brandon Boston and Javonte Green could be line for more run Wednesday.
Jan 6, 2025
Won't suit up for Tuesday
Murphy (ankle) has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Timberwolves.
ANALYSIS
Murphy is considered day-to-day with a mild left ankle sprain that he sustained during Sunday's win over Washington. His next chance to play will come Wednesday against Portland. With the 24-year-old forward sidelined, Brandon Boston and Jordan Hawkins are candidates for increased roles.
Jan 6, 2025
Considered day-to-day
Pelicans coach Willie Green said Monday that Murphy (ankle) is day-to-day, Erin Summers of the Gulf Coast Sports & Entertainment Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Murphy tweaked his left ankle during Sunday's game against the Wizards and was diagnosed with a mild sprain. However, he's considered day-to-day and will likely have a questionable tag for Tuesday's game versus Minnesota. If he's unable to play, Jordan Hawkins and Brandon Boston could step into larger roles.
Jan 5, 2025
Won't return Sunday
Murphy (ankle) has been ruled out for the rest of Sunday's game against the Wizards, Will Guillory of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Murphy was helped off the floor late in the third quarter after turning his left ankle while attempting to grab a rebound. Jordan Hawkins and Brandon Boston will take on larger roles off the bench for the rest of Sunday's game due to Murphy's injury.
Jan 5, 2025
Exits game due to ankle injury
Murphy went to the locker room in the third quarter of Sunday's game against the Wizards due to a left ankle injury, Will Guillory of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Murphy appeared to turn his left ankle while going after a rebound and needed to be helped off the court. It's the same ankle that he injured before Christmas, though he was able to play through the issue. Brandon Boston and Jordan Hawkins should see more minutes off the bench during the fourth quarter if Murphy is unable to return.
Jan 1, 2025
Leads all scorers in loss
Murphy finished with 34 points (11-24 FG, 5-15 3Pt, 7-7 FT), four rebounds, three assists and one steal over 39 minutes during Wednesday's 119-108 loss to the Heat.
ANALYSIS
Murphy led all scorers, tallying at least 30 points for the second time in the past three games. The Pelicans continue to deal with multiple injuries, allowing Murphy to slide up in the offensive pecking order. He has been cooking over the two weeks, averaging 26.1 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.1 steals and 4.0 three-pointers. If and when New Orleans are able to get healthy bodies back on the floor, it will be interesting to see what Murphy's role looks like given his recent form.
Dec 31, 2024
Drains four from deep
Murphy provided 18 points (6-10 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, six assists and three steals in 38 minutes during Monday's 116-113 loss to the Clippers.
ANALYSIS
Murphy continues to be a force to be reckoned with from beyond the arc, as he's hit three or more three-pointers in 12 of the Pelicans' last 13 games. He's hit at least four or more from deep in five of the previous nine games, making him a serious threat from distance.
Dec 26, 2024
Available for Thursday
Murphy (ankle) has been cleared to play Thursday against Houston, Erin Summers of the Gulf Coast Sports & Entertainment Network reports.
ANALYSIS
This lines up with what was reported earlier in the day, as Murphy was said to be trending in the right direction. He's averaging 22.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.0 steals over his last six appearances.
Dec 26, 2024
Plans to play Thursday
Murphy (ankle) plans to play in Thursday's game versus the Rockets, Mark Haynes of The Sacramento Observer reports.
ANALYSIS
Murphy is officially listed as questionable for Thursday's contest due to a left ankle injury. While Murphy appears on track to suit up against Houston, fantasy managers should look out for an official injury report to update his status.
Dec 25, 2024
Iffy for Thursday
Murphy (ankle) is questionable for Thursday's game against the Rockets, Jim Eichenhofer of the Pelicans' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Murphy didn't finish Sunday's game against the Nuggets due to a left ankle injury and may be sidelined Thursday for the first time since Nov. 27. If Murphy can't play, Jordan Hawkins and Brandon Boston would be candidates for increased usage.
Dec 24, 2024
Considered day-to-day
Murphy (ankle) will be day-to-day going forward, the Pelicans announced Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Murphy sustained a left ankle injury during Sunday's game against the Denver Nuggets and was unable to return, but he escaped with a mild sprain. Fantasy managers should consider him questionable for Thursday's game against the Rockets.
Dec 22, 2024
Won't return against Denver
Murphy (ankle) has been ruled out for the rest of Sunday's game against the Nuggets.
ANALYSIS
Murphy injured his left ankle late in the third quarter, and he will not return for the rest of Sunday's game. Javonte Green and Brandon Boston will pick up some playing time off the bench due to Murphy's injury.
Dec 22, 2024
Exits game due to ankle injury
Murphy (ankle) headed to the locker room in late in the third quarter of Sunday's game against the Nuggets, Will Guillory of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Murphy turned his left ankle while attempting to grab a rebound, and went to the locker room after consulting with a trainer. Brandon Boston and Javonte Green should see more playing time off the bench for as long as Murphy is sidelined.
Dec 22, 2024
Leads Pels with 26 points
Murphy accumulated a team-high 26 points (11-18 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 1-1 FT), six rebounds, two assists and two blocks in 38 minutes during Saturday's 104-93 loss to New York.
ANALYSIS
Only two other Pelicans even scored in double digits on the night against a tough Knicks defense. Murphy has scored more than 20 points in four of five games since returning to the starting lineup from a brief two-game stint on the second unit, and over that stretch the fourth-year forward has averaged 23.2 points, 4.8 boards, 3.2 threes, 2.4 assists, 1.0 blocks and 0.8 steals while shooting 50.0 percent from the floor.
Dec 20, 2024
Leads New Orleans in blowout loss
Murphy had 28 points (10-17 FG, 4-6 3Pt, 4-5 FT), three assists, two rebounds and one steal over 36 minutes during Thursday's 133-113 loss to the Rockets.
ANALYSIS
Murphy delivered a stellar performance while setting a season-high mark in points, albeit in a losing effort. The 24-year-old is on pace to average a career-high 18.7 points per game, and he should continue to see increased opportunity on the offensive end with Brandon Ingram (ankle) and Zion Williamson (hamstring) sidelined. Over his last five outings, Murphy has averaged 21.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.8 steals and 0.8 blocks across 36.8 minutes per contest.
Dec 13, 2024
Scores 21 points Thursday
Murphy amassed 21 points (6-13 FG, 3-9 3Pt, 6-7 FT), four rebounds and one steal over 40 minutes during Thursday's 111-109 loss to the Kings.
ANALYSIS
Even though CJ McCollum was the Pelicans' leading scorer in this tight loss Thursday, there's no question Murphy made his presence felt as well. He seems to have recovered the starting role and has scored at least 20 points in his previous two outings with the first unit, so expect Murphy to continue having a sizable role on offense for the time being. That shouldn't be surprising given how depleted the Pelicans are at the moment, though. Murphy is also on a roll of four straight games with more than 15 points, averaging 20.3 points and shooting 53.1 percent from the field in that span.
Dec 9, 2024
Posts 25 points in starting role
Murphy chipped in 25 points (8-16 FG, 4-10 3Pt, 5-5 FT), six rebounds, five assists, one block and one steal in 38 minutes during Sunday's 121-116 loss to the Spurs.
ANALYSIS
Murphy slid into the starting lineup with Brandon Ingram (ankle) sidelined and produced his best scoring total of the season. It's a spot he may occupy for some time, as Ingram's ankle strain is reportedly serious, adding to the Pelicans' litany of injury absences. Murphy has also been a member of the injury report this season, but his fantasy stock should get a big boost if he can stay healthy.
Dec 8, 2024
Back in starting lineup Sunday
Murphy will enter the starting lineup in Sunday's game against the Spurs, Will Guillory of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
With Brandon Ingram (ankle) sidelined indefinitely, Murphy will slot into the starting five. The 24-year-old forward has started in nine of 11 possible matchups thus far, during which he has averaged 17.3 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists across 32.6 minutes per game.
Dec 6, 2024
Sparks bench with 19 points
Murphy ended Thursday's 126-124 win over Phoenix with 19 points (7-11 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds and two assists in 34 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Murphy retreated to the bench Thursday due to the return of Brandon Ingram and Herbert Jones. Murphy still managed to play 34 minutes and led the Pelicans' reserves in scoring, and it appears he should have some meaningful playing time in a reserve role moving forward. Through 10 regular-season games (nine starts), Murphy is averaging 17.5 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.3 assists over 32.6 minutes per game.
Dec 5, 2024
Moving back to bench
Murphy is not in the starting lineup for Thursday's game against the Suns, Will Guillory of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The Pelicans will have Brandon Ingram and Herb Jones back in the starting lineup, so Murphy will head to the bench. This will be the first time Murphy comes off the bench this season.
Dec 1, 2024
Shooting woes continue
Murphy ended with 11 points (3-14 FG, 3-9 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, two assists and one steal over 29 minutes during Sunday's 118-85 loss to the Knicks.
ANALYSIS
Murphy was off the mark from the field in Sunday's blowout loss, and he's struggled to find a rhythm after missing the first 10 games of the season due to a hamstring injury. The 24-year-old sharpshooter is converting just 30.3 percent of his threes and averaging a career-worst 1.5 turnovers across eight games, but he's softening the blow a bit for fantasy managers by putting up a career-high 17.8 points and 5.4 rebounds in 31.9 minutes per contest. The injury-riddled Pelicans figure to continue to give Murphy the green light from downtown while the team is missing Brandon Ingram (calf) and Zion Williamson (hamstring), and the forward should continue to see a boost in usage while the two stars are sidelined.
Nov 29, 2024
Scores 21 points in return
Murphy finished with 21 points (8-23 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 3-4 FT), nine rebounds, one block and one steal over 38 minutes during Friday's 120-109 loss to the Grizzlies.
ANALYSIS
Murphy scored at least 20 points for the third consecutive game, albeit on inefficient shooting. Although his numbers have been decent since making his season debut, Murphy continues to be eased back into the rotation, having missed two of the last five games. Across seven games, he is averaging 18.7 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.4 three-pointers in 32.4 minutes per game. He should continue to play a key role for the Pelicans, with an increased workload potentially just over the horizon.
Nov 29, 2024
Will suit up Friday
Murphy (knee) is available for Friday's game versus the Grizzlies.
ANALYSIS
Murphy will return to game action after missing Wednesday's loss to Toronto due to a left knee bone bruise. The 24-year-old has missed significant time this season due to a right hamstring strain and a knee injury, and it wouldn't come as a surprise if he operates under a minutes restriction on Friday. In six regular-season outings, Murphy has averaged 18.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 0.7 steals and 0.7 blocks across 31.5 minutes per game.
Nov 28, 2024
Questionable for Friday
Murphy (knee) is questionable for Friday's game against the Grizzlies.
ANALYSIS
Murphy may miss a second straight game due to a left knee contusion. He's one of four Pelicans listed as questionable, so it's currently unclear what their rotation will look like. If Murphy is cleared, he may face limitations.
Nov 27, 2024
Downgraded to out
Murphy (knee) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Raptors, Christian Clark of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Murphy and Brandon Ingram (calf) have both been downgraded from questionable to out, but Dejounte Murray is cleared to make his return from a lengthy absence and CJ McCollum is available again. Javonte Green and Brandon Boston are candidates for elevated roles again, especially if Jordan Hawkins (back) is downgraded to out.
Nov 26, 2024
Back on injury report
Murphy is questionable for Wednesday's game against the Raptors due to a left knee contusion.
ANALYSIS
After missing 10 straight games to start the season, Murphy has appeared in six of the last eight matchups, with his only absences coming during the second half of back-to-back sets. The sharpshooter appears to have found a groove over his past two appearances, totaling 48 points (18-36 FG, 7-20 3Pt), 10 rebounds, eight assists, two blocks and a steal in 78 minutes.
Nov 26, 2024
Pours in 24 points
Murphy had 24 points (9-19 FG, 2-11 3Pt, 4-7 FT), six rebounds, four assists, one block and one steal in 40 minutes during Monday's 114-110 loss to Indiana.
ANALYSIS
Making just his sixth appearance of the campaign, Murphy scored 24 points for the second game in a row and seems to have found his stride. He's averaging 22.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.0 steals and 3.0 three-pointers in his last three outings, but his usage could come down soon with Dejounte Murray (hand) targeting a Wednesday return and with Brandon Ingram (calf) considered day-to-day.
Nov 23, 2024
Scores team-high 24 points
Murphy ended with 24 points (9-17 FG, 5-9 3Pt, 1-2 FT), four rebounds, four assists and one block in 38 minutes during Friday's 112-108 loss to the Warriors.
ANALYSIS
Murphy was impressive in his return to the starting lineup after a one-game absence due to injury management, and he led the Pelicans in scoring while posting a season-high output in that category. Murphy has scored at least 17 points in his last three outings, and he should continue to hold a steady role on offense as long as the Pelicans remain depleted due to the absences of players such as Zion Williamson (hamstring), CJ McCollum (thigh) and Dejounte Murray (hand).
Nov 21, 2024
Absent from injury report
Murphy (hamstring) isn't listed on the injury report for Friday's game against the Warriors.
ANALYSIS
Murphy will be ready to suit up for Friday's matchup after being held out of the second half of a back-to-back Wednesday against the Cavs. He's appeared in four matchups so far this season, averaging 15.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 27.8 minutes.
Nov 20, 2024
Won't play Wednesday
Murphy (hamstring) will not play Wednesday against the Cavaliers.
ANALYSIS
Murphy is being held out for the second leg of this back-to-back set. In Tuesday's 132-91 loss to Dallas, he recorded 19 points (5-13 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 7-7 FT), five rebounds, one assist and two steals in 29 minutes . With Brandon Ingram (ankles) also sidelined, Brandon Boston, Javonte Green and Jeremiah Earl-Robinson are likely to see massive workloads.
Nov 20, 2024
Scores 19 points in return
Murphy amassed 19 points (5-13 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 7-7 FT), five rebounds, one assist and two steals in 29 minutes during Tuesday's 132-91 loss to Dallas.
ANALYSIS
Murphy returned to the lineup after missing the previous game as part of his post-injury management plan, scoring a team-high 19 points. The Pelicans are barely treading water right now as they wait for their stars to get back on the floor. Murphy should continue to be a solid source of points and threes, even once the supporting cast returns.
Nov 18, 2024
Will play Tuesday
Murphy (hamstring) isn't listed on the injury report for Tuesday's game against the Mavericks.
ANALYSIS
As expected, Murphy will return to action Tuesday after resting during Saturday's loss to the Lakers, which was the second leg of a back-to-back set. Murphy has scored in double figures in all three of his appearances this season, averaging 14.3 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 27.3 minutes. With CJ McCollum (thigh), Herbert Jones (shoulder), Jordan Hawkins (back), Dejounte Murray (hand), Zion Williamson (hamstring) and Jose Alvarado (hamstring) all still sidelined, Murphy should have the green light versus Dallas.
Nov 16, 2024
Sitting out Saturday
Murphy won't play in Saturday's game versus the Lakers due to right hamstring injury management.
ANALYSIS
Murphy will sit out the second leg of New Orleans' back-to-back Saturday due to a hamstring injury that forced him to miss the beginning of the 2024-25 campaign. Murphy should be able to suit up for Tuesday's matchup with Dallas.
Nov 12, 2024
Looks rusty in season debut
Murphy finished Monday's 107-105 loss to Brooklyn with 12 points (4-14 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds and two blocks across 26 minutes.
ANALYSIS
It wasn't difficult to tell that Murphy was seeing his first action of the 2024-25 campaign after sitting the first three weeks with a right hamstring injury. However, it was encouraging to see him score in double figures despite his shooting struggles, and he made an unexpected contribution on the defensive end by swatting two shots. It's worth noting that Murphy logged 26 minutes after it was reported he would be on a 20-minute cap Monday night, so the team must've felt comfortable enough with his health to keep him on the floor for a few additional minutes.
Nov 11, 2024
Playing Monday on capped minutes
Murphy will be limited to 20 minutes of playing time Monday against the Nets, Brian Lewis of the New York Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Murphy strained his right hamstring during training camp in early October, which caused him to miss the entire preseason and the Pelicans' first 10 games of the 2024-25 regular season. Even with injuries to Zion Williamson (hamstring), Dejounte Murray (hand), CJ McCollum (thigh), Jordan Hawkins (back) and Herbert Jones (shoulder), however, Murphy will be brought on slowly and operate under a minutes restriction Monday. Murphy appeared in 57 games (23 starts) for the Pelicans during the 2023-24 regular season and averaged 14.8 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.2 assists over 29.6 minutes per game.
Nov 11, 2024
Available to play
Murphy (hamstring) is available for Monday's game against the Nets.
ANALYSIS
Murphy was previously upgraded to probable, so this news isn't a big surprise. With the amount of injuries in New Orleans, it's very likely that Murphy steps into a high-usage role right away. It's unclear if he'll have any minutes restrictions, however.
Nov 10, 2024
Officially probable
Murphy (hamstring) is probable for Monday's game against the Nets.
ANALYSIS
Murphy is on track to make his season debut Monday, as he said Sunday that he'll suit up versus Brooklyn. This is great news for the Pelicans, who will still be without Zion Williamson (hamstring), Dejounte Murray (hand), CJ McCollum (thigh), Jordan Hawkins and Herbert Jones (shoulder) for at least a few more weeks. Given all the injuries, Murphy will likely slide into the Pelicans' starting lineup eventually, but he may face some restrictions at first.
Nov 10, 2024
Says he'll make season debut Monday
Murphy (hamstring) is officially listed as questionable for Monday's game against the Nets, but he said Sunday that'll make his season debut, Christian Clark of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
This is great news for the Pelicans, who will still be without Zion Williamson (hamstring), Dejounte Murray (hand), CJ McCollum (thigh), Jordan Hawkins and Herbert Jones (shoulder) for at least a few more weeks. Given all the injuries, Murphy will likely slide into the Pelicans' starting lineup eventually, but he may face some restrictions at first.
Nov 9, 2024
Targeting Monday for season debut
Murphy (hamstring) has a target of Monday's game versus the Nets to make his season debut, NBA reporter Chris Haynes reports.
ANALYSIS
Murphy has missed the first 10 games of the 2024-25 campaign due to a strained right hamstring. While the 24-year-old forward will likely be eased back into the rotation, there should be plenty of minutes up for grabs with Zion Williamson (hamstring), Jordan Hawkins (back), Herbert Jones (shoulder), CJ McCollum (thigh) and Dejounte Murray (hand) all dealing with injuries.
Nov 8, 2024
Won't play against Orlando
Murphy (hamstring) has been downgraded to out for Friday's game versus the Magic, Erin Summers of Bally Sports New Orleans reports.
ANALYSIS
Murphy has been downgraded from doubtful to out Friday due a strained right hamstring that has kept him sidelined for the beginning of the 2024-25 campaign. Murphy's next chance to suit up is Monday's matchup with Brooklyn.
Nov 7, 2024
Unlikely to play Friday
Murphy (hamstring) is listed as doubtful for Friday's game versus the Magic.
ANALYSIS
Murphy has yet to play this season while recovering from a strained right hamstring. Although Murphy is unlikely to suit up Friday, his status being listed as doubtful instead of out is a good sign that he is nearing a return to action.
Oct 24, 2024
Out at least two more weeks
The Pelicans announced Thursday that Murphy (hamstring) has progressed through the first phase of rehabilitation, has been cleared to begin the return-to-play conditioning phase of the rehab process and will have his status updated in approximately two weeks.
ANALYSIS
Murphy continues to deal with a right hamstring strain and will miss at least the first two weeks of the regular season. Until Murphy is officially cleared to return Jordan Hawkins and Javonte Green should continue to receive increased playing time.
Oct 22, 2024
Still not cleared for contact
Murphy (hamstring) said Tuesday he's making steady progress with his rehab but hasn't been cleared for sprinting or physical contact, Will Guillory of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Murphy suffered a right hamstring strain at the beginning of October and was given a three-week return timetable, giving him a slight chance to be ready for the regular-season opener. However, it appears he's still at least a week away from being cleared for game action and will likely miss multiple contests. In Murphy's absence, Jordan Hawkins should see more minutes off the bench to begin the campaign.
Oct 21, 2024
Agrees to four-year extension
Murphy (hamstring) and the Pelicans agreed to a four-year, $112 million extension Monday, NBA writer Marc Stein reports.
ANALYSIS
Murphy is currently recovering from a hamstring strain and is questionable for Opening Night on Wednesday against the Bulls. Locking him up to a new contract was seemingly a no-brainer for the franchise, as Murphy's floor spacing will be crucial to their success. During the 2023-24 regular season, Murphy made 57 appearances with averages of 14.8 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 3.0 three-pointers.
Oct 3, 2024
Out at least three weeks
The Pelicans announced Thursday that Murphy has been diagnosed with a right hamstring strain and will be re-examined in approximately three weeks.
ANALYSIS
Murphy strained his right hamstring during Wednesday's training camp practice. The 24-year-old forward's status for the beginning of the regular season is now in question. Murphy is expected to compete with Herbert Jones for backup forward minutes when healthy.
Apr 22, 2024
Goes for 21 points in Game 1 loss
Murphy notched 21 points (8-18 FG, 5-12 3Pt), four rebounds, two assists, three blocks and one steal across 44 minutes during Sunday's 94-92 loss to Oklahoma City in Game 1 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals.
ANALYSIS
Murphy extended his streak of games scoring in double figures to 14 appearances (12 starts), and he ended up as New Orleans' leading scorer in this Game 1 loss while carrying the team at times in the second and third quarters. Murphy can get hot in any moment of a game, but even if that doesn't happen, he sees enough touches to make a consistent impact on offense. Expect Murphy to remain in the first unit -- while experiencing a slight uptick in his usage rate -- as long as Zion Williamson (hamstring) remains out.
Apr 19, 2024
Running with first unit
Murphy is starting Friday's Play-In Game against the Kings.
ANALYSIS
The Virginia product will join the starting lineup due to the absence of Zion Williamson (hamstring). Murphy is averaging 22.2 points, 6.6 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.2 steals in his last five starts and figures to have plenty of chances to make an impact with Williamson sidelined.
Apr 14, 2024
Back to bench
Murphy will come off the bench in Sunday's regular-season finale against the Lakers, Ryan Ward of LakersNation.com reports.
ANALYSIS
With Brandon Ingram (knee) returning from a lengthy absence, Murphy will shift back to a reserve role. He has averaged 13.8 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.9 assists across 26.5 minutes in 33 games off the bench this season.
Apr 12, 2024
Excels with 27 points
Murphy provided 27 points (7-14 FG, 6-12 3Pt, 7-8 FT), five rebounds and four assists in 45 minutes during Thursday's 135-123 victory over the Kings.
ANALYSIS
Murphy followed up Tuesday's explosive 31 points against Portland with another superb total on the road. Murphy has scored in double-digits for nine straight games, but the imminent return of Brandon Ingram (knee) will send Murphy's numbers back to normal levels. Although Murphy missed a lot of action this season, he has a shot at being the presumptive starter ahead of Herbert Jones in the playoffs once Ingram returns.
Apr 10, 2024
Busts out for game-high 31
Murphy had 31 points (9-17 FG, 5-12 3Pt, 8-8 FT), eight rebounds, three assists and two steals over 38 minutes during Tuesday's 110-100 victory over Portland.
ANALYSIS
Murphy was making his ninth straight starts, but he'd scored more than 16 points only once in the prior eight, a 21-point effort against the Suns on April 1. The third-year forward has averaged 15.9 points, 7.5 boards, 2.9 assists, 2.8 threes and 1.3 steals during his stint in the starting five, but even if Brandon Ingram (knee) returns to the lineup Thursday in Sacramento, Murphy should still hang onto a significant workload in the Pelicans' frontcourt.
Apr 8, 2024
Struggles from field Sunday
Murphy accumulated 13 points (4-13 FG, 3-10 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, two assists and one steal across 39 minutes during Sunday's 113-105 win over the Suns.
ANALYSIS
Murphy struggled badly from the field and needed 13 shots to score 13 points, and overall, this performance was below the numbers he's been delivering in recent weeks. Murphy should remain a reliable fantasy asset in a favorable matchup against the Trail Blazers on Tuesday.
Apr 4, 2024
Scores 14 points, ejected late
Murphy recorded 14 points (3-7 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 6-7 FT), seven rebounds, two assists and one steal in 37 minutes before getting ejected from Wednesday's 117-108 loss to the Magic.
ANALYSIS
Murphy, Herbert Jones and Dyson Daniels were all ejected with seven seconds left in the loss after having words with an official. It's highly unlikely any will face suspension, but fines could be on the way. Murphy has cooled down from his scoring outbursts earlier in the month, averaging 14.1 points on 36.4 percent from the field and 34.5 percent from deep across his past seven games.
Apr 1, 2024
Solid scoring Monday
Murphy racked up 21 points (7-14 FG, 4-10 3Pt, 3-4 FT), six rebounds, four assists and two steals over 32 minutes during Monday's 124-111 loss to the Suns.
ANALYSIS
Murphy and Zion Williamson (30 points) were the only Pelicans to exceed 15 points Monday, while Murphy accounted for four of New Orleans' 11 made threes as a team. The Pelicans managed to shoot 40.7 percent from beyond the arc, but the low volume could be a true issue for the team's offensive upside. Murphy can be a catalyst, however, and he has now knocked down at least three triples in five of his last seven games.
Mar 28, 2024
Sets season high in victory
Murphy recorded 15 points (4-13 FG, 2-9 3Pt, 5-5 FT), 11 rebounds, five assists and two steals over 39 minutes in Thursday's 107-100 win over Milwaukee.
ANALYSIS
Murphy hauled in a team-high and season-high rebound total to go along with a handful of assists and a pair of steals while posting one of two double-doubles for the Pelicans in a winning effort. Murphy has hauled in 10 or more boards in two games this season, the other such performance occurring Feb. 25 when he hauled in a previous season high of 10 rebounds. Murphy, who has handed out at least five assists in five games, posted his first double-double of the campaign in the victory.
Mar 25, 2024
Held in check
Murphy totaled eight points (1-12 FG, 0-9 3Pt, 6-8 FT), eight rebounds, two assists, four blocks and one steal across 32 minutes during Sunday's 114-101 victory over the Pistons.
ANALYSIS
This was a quiet showing for Murphy, as he took a backseat while Zion Williamson erupted for 36 points. But with Brandon Ingram (knee) expected to miss a couple weeks, better days are likely head for Murphy.
Mar 22, 2024
Modest performance in start
Murphy ended with 14 points (4-11 FG, 4-9 3Pt, 2-2 FT), eight rebounds and three assists across 30 minutes during Friday's 111-88 victory over Miami.
ANALYSIS
Murphy shifted into the starting lineup, replacing Brandon Ingram who will miss at least two weeks due to a knee injury. This alone makes Murphy a must-roster player, despite the fact he was not at his best Friday. With that said, he still managed four triples, more than enough for anyone who added him. The Pelicans suit up again Sunday, when they will face the Pistons in what should be a favorable matchup.
Mar 22, 2024
Enters starting lineup
Murphy is starting Friday's game against the Heat.
ANALYSIS
Murphy will enter the starting five in Brandon Ingram's (knee) place, and he could remain with the first unit until Ingram is cleared for play. The Virginia product is coming off an impressive 21-point performance Thursday night in Orlando and has shown plenty of scoring ability this season.
Mar 22, 2024
Leads Pels in scoring Thursday
Murphy ended Thursday's 121-106 loss to Orlando with 21 points (6-10 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 6-7 FT), three rebounds and one steal in 29 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Murphy has stepped into a larger role on offense since mid-February and has played 28-plus minutes in each of his last 15 games. He's taken advantage of the increased opportunity, and since Feb. 14, Murphy is averaging 16.9 points on 45.6 percent shooting (including 39.7 percent from three on 9.1 3PA/G), 5.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.1 steals over 31.3 minutes per game.
Mar 19, 2024
Moves to bench
Murphy will come off the bench for Tuesday's game versus at the Nets.
ANALYSIS
Herbert Jones (hip/back) is returning from a one-game absence, so this is an expected move. Murphy fared well in his spot start Saturday against the Trail Blazers, finishing with 20 points (7-13 FG, 4-8 3Pt, 2-2 FT), six rebounds and five assists in 35 minutes.
Mar 17, 2024
Drops 20 points in spot start
Murphy racked up 20 points (7-13 FG, 4-8 3Pt, 2-2 FT), six rebounds and five assists in 35 minutes during Saturday's 126-107 victory over the Trail Blazers.
ANALYSIS
Murphy moved into the starting lineup, replacing Herbert Jones who was ruled out due to a back injury. Jones suffered the injury in Friday's win over the Clippers, taking a hard fall in the process. While Murphy should be rostered in all formats, he could see a small bump should Jones be forced to miss more time moving forward.
Mar 16, 2024
Starting against Portland
Murphy will start Saturday's game against Portland, Christian Clark of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
This is an expected move with Herbert Jones (back) out of the lineup. As a starter this season, Murphy holds averages of 14.4 points, 5.1 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.1 steals and 3.1 three-pointers.
Mar 11, 2024
Shines off bench Sunday
Murphy had 28 points (10-18 FG, 6-13 3Pt, 2-2 FT), seven rebounds and two assists in 30 minutes during Sunday's 116-103 win over the Hawks.
ANALYSIS
Murphy not only looked impressive off the bench Sunday, but he led the Pelicans in scoring on a night where Zion Williamson and CJ McCollum were the only starters who reached double-digit points. Murphy might be stuck on a bench role if everyone is fit on the Pelicans roster, but that doesn't mean he doesn't carry fantasy upside. He's averaging 22.2 points per game while shooting 52.9 percent from the field and 48.1 percent from three over his last five games off the bench.
Mar 6, 2024
Explodes for 10 threes vs. Raps
Murphy posted 34 points (11-17 FG, 10-14 3Pt, 2-4 FT), six rebounds, one assist and one steal across 29 minutes during Tuesday's 139-98 victory over the Raptors.
ANALYSIS
Murphy was a one-man, three-point barrage in Tuesday's win, with his 10 threes tying a career high and his 34 points representing a season best. He's scored 25-plus points and hit six or more threes in three of his last four games and has provided a spark for the Pelicans' bench.
Mar 1, 2024
Stays hot in season-best outing
Murphy finished Friday's 129-102 win over the Pacers with 28 points (8-14 FG, 6-12 3Pt, 6-9 FT), seven rebounds, one assist and two steals across 28 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Murphy led all players in Friday's contest in threes made while leading all bench players in scoring and rebounds to go along with a pair of steals in a well-balanced performance in a blowout victory. Murphy, who tallied a new season high in scoring, has been red hot for New Orleans as of late, posting at least 25 points and seven rebounds in two of his last three contests. He has now connected on six or more threes in four appearances.
Feb 28, 2024
Shifts back to bench
Murphy won't start Wednesday's game against the Pacers.
ANALYSIS
Murphy will rejoin the reserves for Wednesday's contest after a four-game stint with the starters. In 24 games off the bench this season, Murphy is averaging 12.1 points and 3.6 rebounds.
Feb 28, 2024
Good to go Wednesday
Murphy (calf) is available for Wednesday's game against the Pacers.
ANALYSIS
Murphy, Zion Williamson (foot), Brandon Ingram (ankle) and CJ McCollum (ankle) are all good to go after being considered game-time decisions. Murphy has been playing well recently and is coming off a 26-point (9-14 FG, 6-11 3Pt) performance against the Knicks on Tuesday, but he figures to see a reduced role with the Pelicans at full strength Wednesday.
Feb 28, 2024
Lands on injury report
Murphy is questionable for Wednesday's game against the Pacers due to an undisclosed injury.
ANALYSIS
Brandon Ingram (ankle), Zion Williamson (foot) and CJ McCollum (ankle) were all listed as questionable on the initial injury report, but Murphy was added an hour later. It's unclear what Murphy is dealing with, but the Pelicans are in danger of being extremely shorthanded versus Indiana.
Feb 27, 2024
Leads all scorers in win
Murphy accumulated 26 points (9-14 FG, 6-11 3Pt, 2-3 FT), seven rebounds, four assists and one steal across 36 minutes during Tuesday's 115-92 win over the Knicks.
ANALYSIS
Murphy tallied at least 20 points for just the fourth time all season, leading all scorers with 26 points including six triples. In what has been a disappointing season, Murphy could be someone to consider adding should he be available. He has played at least 30 minutes in five straight games, producing on both ends of the floor.
Feb 24, 2024
Falls short as fill-in
Murphy logged five points (2-12 FG, 1-7 3Pt), six rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal over 32 minutes during Friday's 106-95 loss to the Heat.
ANALYSIS
Murphy earned a spot in the starting lineup for a second time amid Brandon Ingram's (illness) absence. The Virginia product regressed after scoring 13 points as a replacement, and it was his weakest performance as a member of the starting five. Murphy is a consistent contributor with the second unit but is just below the cusp of fantasy viability.
Feb 22, 2024
Starting against Houston
Murphy is in the starting lineup to face the Rockets on Thursday, Christian Clark of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Murphy will enter the starting lineup with Brandon Ingram sidelined due to an illness. He's averaging 15.2 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.7 assists across 27.3 minutes per game in a starting role this season.
Feb 15, 2024
Defensive whiz against Wizards
Murphy finished Wednesday's 133-126 win over Washington with 13 points (3-9 FG, 3-9 3Pt, 4-4 FT), five rebounds, three assists, two blocks and three steals over 31 minutes off the bench.
ANALYSIS
The five combined steals and blocks were a career high for the third-year forward, but Murphy has been active on the defensive end of late and has produced five of each over the last three games. His inconsistent role makes him tough to deploy in DFS, but he's proving to be useful in deeper season-long formats. Over the last nine games (including three starts), Murphy is averaging 12.3 points, 3.6 boards, 2.4 threes, 0.9 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.8 blocks.
Feb 12, 2024
Retreats to bench
Murphy isn't starting Monday's game against the Grizzlies.
ANALYSIS
Murphy filled in for Zion Williamson during Saturday's win against the Blazers, but he'll return to his usual role Monday evening. Murphy is averaging 9.3 points and 2.7 rebounds in his last three appearances as a reserve.
Feb 11, 2024
Scores 24 points as fill-in
Murphy amassed 24 points (7-10 FG, 5-8 3Pt, 5-6 FT), five rebounds, two blocks and one steal in 30 minutes during Saturday's 93-84 victory over Portland.
ANALYSIS
The Pelicans chose to use caution with Zion Williamson (foot) in the back-to-back, sending Murphy to the first unit for the sixth time this season. The Virginia product has fared well when called upon to fill in for Williamson, although his meniscus injury denied him the ability to take over for the All-Star at the beginning of the season. Murphy's seasonal numbers have taken a dive after an encouraging sophomore campaign, and his future success will largely depend on the overall health of New Orleans' starting lineup.
Feb 10, 2024
Available to face Portland
Murphy (knee) is available to face Portland on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Murphy has been bothered by a knee issue of late, but the wing will be available for this contest, and given the team's lack of available players, he might find himself in a starting role. Murphy is averaging 10.5 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game since the start of January.
Feb 10, 2024
Questionable versus Portland
Murphy is listed as questionable for Saturday's game versus the Trail Blazers due to left knee tendinitis.
ANALYSIS
Murphy's knee issue has him in danger of missing his first contest since Jan. 27. If the third-year forward is unable to suit against Portland, Jordan Hawkins and Herbert Jones are candidates to receive increased playing time.
Feb 5, 2024
Returns to bench
Murphy isn't starting Monday's game against the Raptors, Blake Murphy of Sportsnet.ca reports.
ANALYSIS
Murphy drew a pair of spot starts while Herbert Jones recovered from a right adductor injury, but he'll retreat to the bench Monday evening now that Jones has been given the green light to return. The 23-year-old put up 15 points in 28 minutes during his last appearance as a reserve Jan. 29 against Boston.
Jan 31, 2024
Starting Wednesday
Murphy will join the starting five for Wednesday's game against the Rockets, Christian Clark of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Murphy will make his fourth start of the campaign, capitalizing on Herbert Jones (thigh) and Zion Williamson (foot) sidelined. In his other three starts, Murphy is averaging 15.0 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists.
Jan 30, 2024
Scores 15 points off bench
Murphy closed with 15 points (6-14 FG, 3-10 3Pt) and four rebounds in 28 minutes during Monday's 118-112 loss to Boston.
ANALYSIS
Murphy returned to a bench role after a spot start against the Thunder on Jan. 26 and not playing against the Bucks on Jan. 27, but he still posted a solid stat line. Even though playing off the bench limits his fantasy upside, it's worth noting Murphy is getting enough touches on offense, regardless of the role, to remain an asset in most fantasy formats. He has scored in double digits in four of his last six appearances, averaging 12.0 points per game in that span.
Jan 27, 2024
Rejoins reserves
Murphy will come off the bench for Saturday's game against the Bucks, Christian Clark of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
With Zion Williamson (foot) back in action, Murphy will slide back to the second unit after getting a spot start Friday. Before Friday's game, Murphy had scored in double digits in five of his last seven appearances.
Jan 26, 2024
Starting Friday
Murphy is in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Thunder.
ANALYSIS
Murphy is set to replace Zion Williamson (foot) in the starting lineup. He has averaged 19.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists across 26.4 minutes in two games as a starter this season.
Jan 24, 2024
Scores 14 in win
Murphy totaled 14 points (6-14 FG, 2-10 3Pt, 0-1 FT), four rebounds and two assists over 25 minutes during Tuesday's 153-124 victory over Utah.
ANALYSIS
The Pelicans had little trouble generating offense Tuesday, and Murphy finished with his third double-digit scoring total over his last four appearances. He wasn't particularly efficient from the perimeter Tuesday, but he had enough volume from inside the arc to make an impact. Over his last four outings, he's averaged 12.8 points and 3.5 rebounds in 23.8 minutes per game.
Jan 15, 2024
Available to play
Murphy (knee) is good to go for Monday's game against Dallas, Will Guillory of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Murphy was given the night off Saturday against Dallas for the second leg of a back-to-back set, but he'll return along with CJ McCollum, Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram. Murphy has struggled in January so far, as he's shooting 34.2 percent from the field and 32.3 percent from beyond the arc through four games.
Jan 14, 2024
Likely to return Monday
Murphy (knee) is probable for Monday's game against the Mavericks.
ANALYSIS
Murphy missed Saturday's game against Dallas due to a knee issue but will likely be able to return for Monday's rematch. Most of the Pelicans' key players will also likely be back in action, so Murphy should see a relatively normal workload if he's cleared to suit up Monday.
Jan 13, 2024
Out against Dallas
Murphy (knee) will not be available for Saturday's game against the Mavericks, Grant Afseth of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Murphy will join Brandon Ingram (Achilles), Zion Williamson (rest) and CJ McCollum (ankle) on the sidelines for the second leg of this back-to-back set. The Pelicans will miss Murphy's floor spacing, so it's likely that Jordan Hawkins plays a prominent role Saturday.
Jan 13, 2024
Questionable to face Dallas
Murphy is questionable to face the Mavericks on Sunday due to left knee tendonitis.
ANALYSIS
Murphy logged 28 minutes in Friday's 125-113 loss to the Nuggets, racking up six points (2-9 FG, 2-8 3Pt), three rebounds, four assists and two steals. He's been finding ways to produce regardless of whether he starts or comes off the bench, but his absence might affect the team's depth given his two-way contributions.
Jan 12, 2024
Will be available
Murphy (knee) will be available for Friday's game against the Nuggets, Will Guillory of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Murphy will shed his probable tag after he was initially considered questionable to suit up. CJ McCollum (ankle), Zion Williamson (quad) and Brandon Ingram (Achilles) are also good to go.
Jan 12, 2024
Likely to suit up against Denver
Murphy (knee) is now listed as probable for Friday's game versus the Nuggets.
ANALYSIS
Murphy has been upgraded from questionable to available Friday despite dealing with left knee tendinitis. With most of New Orleans' regulars expected to play, Murphy will likely be the team's first option off the bench at the forward position.
Jan 11, 2024
Iffy for Friday
Murphy is questionable for Friday's game against the Nuggets due to left knee tendinitis.
ANALYSIS
Murphy missed three games to begin the month due to his knee injury, but he's been back in action over the last three matchups. During that time, he's averaged 10.0 points, 4.0 assists and 2.7 rebounds in 21.7 minutes per game. If he's available, he could take on a slightly larger role than usual since several of the Pelicans' starters are questionable for Friday's matchup.
Jan 10, 2024
Moves to second unit
Murphy will return to the bench for Wednesday's game against the Warriors.
ANALYSIS
This is an expected move with Zion Williamson (quadriceps) returning from a one-game absence. Murphy fared well in his fill-in start Sunday against the Kings with 11 points, five assists, two rebounds, one steal and three triples in 24 minutes.
Jan 7, 2024
Enters starting lineup
Murphy is in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against Sacramento.
ANALYSIS
Despite New Orleans announcing Saturday that Murphy would remain on a restriction of 20-to-25 minutes Sunday, he will slot in with the starters in place of Zion Williamson (quad). Murphy has boomed on occasion but hasn't settled into a rhythm yet this season. Naji Marshall and Larry Nance will likely play key roles off the bench.
Jan 6, 2024
Remains on minutes restriction
Murphy will be on a 20-25 minutes restriction for Sunday's game versus the Kings, Christian Clark of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Murphy played 17 minutes against the Clippers after missing the previous three games with a right knee injury. Murphy underwent surgery on the same knee in the offseason, so the Pelicans are treating it cautiously.
Jan 6, 2024
Struggles in return
Murphy had three points (1-9 FG, 1-6 3Pt), two rebounds, one assist and one block in 17 minutes during Friday's 111-95 loss to the Clippers.
ANALYSIS
Murphy sat out the Pelicans' last three games due to a knee issue. He showed some rust in Friday's loss when he missed eight of his nine shots and shot 16.7 percent from beyond the arc. Murphy was productive in December before his knee injury and averaged 14.8 points on 47.2 percent shooting (including 42.3 percent from three), 4.0 rebounds and 1.7 assists over 27.0 minutes per game last month.
Jan 5, 2024
Will be available
Murphy (knee) will be available for Friday's game against the Clippers, Christian Clark of The New Orleans Times-Picayunereports.
ANALYSIS
Murphy will be back in the mix after missing the past three games for the Pelicans. He's been solid in 12 appearances this season, posting averages of 14.8 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 2.8 three-pointers.
Jan 4, 2024
Questionable for Friday
Murphy (knee) is questionable for Friday's game against the Clippers, Christian Clark of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Murphy has missed the last three games due to a knee issue, and he's been diagnosed with left knee tendinitis. It's not yet clear whether he'll be available for Friday's matchup, but if he's sidelined, Jordan Hawkins and Dyson Daniels will likely see increased run for the Pelicans.
Jan 3, 2024
Ruled out against Minnesota
Murphy (knee) won't play in Wednesday's game versus the Timberwolves and remains day-to-day moving forward, Christian Clark of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Murphy will miss his third straight game Wednesday after being downgraded from questionable to out with left knee soreness. Jordan Hawkins and Dyson Daniels will likely continue to see extended minutes in his absence. Murphy's next chance to suit up is Friday's matchup with the Clippers.
Jan 3, 2024
Questionable for Wednesday
Murphy (knee) is questionable for Wednesday's game versus Minnesota.
ANALYSIS
Murphy has missed the past two games for the Pelicans, but he remains day-to-day. If he's unable to return Wednesday for the second leg of this back-to-back set, the Pelicans could turn to Jordan Hawkins again. On Tuesday versus the Nets, Hawkins scored 11 points with one assist, two blocks and a pair of three-pointers in 26 minutes.
Jan 2, 2024
Out Tuesday
Murphy (knee) will not play Tuesday against Brooklyn, Erin Summers of Bally Sports New Orleans reports.
ANALYSIS
Murphy's next opportunity to take the court will be the back half of the Pelicans' back-to-back Wednesday against Minnesota. CJ McCollum will be leaned on, while Naji Marshall should be in-line for a 20-minute workload with Jordan Hawkins joining the rotation as well.
Jan 1, 2024
Questionable for Tuesday
Murphy (knee) is questionable for Tuesday's game against the Nets, Jim Eichenhofer of the Pelicans' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Murphy missed Sunday's win over the Lakers and is in danger of missing another contest Tuesday due to left knee soreness. He had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee this offseason and didn't make his season debut until Dec. 1, so the Pelicans will presumably be cautious with the sharpshooter moving forward.
Dec 31, 2023
Inactive Sunday
Murphy will not play Sunday against the Lakers, Mike Trudell of Spectrum SportsNet.
ANALYSIS
Despite having two full days of rest, Murphy will not suit up Sunday due to left knee soreness. He has exceeded a 25-minute workload just five times this season, with three occasions coming to New Orleans last four games, but it's unclear if his surgically-repaired left knee is feeling the fatigue or if Sunday's absence is more maintenance related. Regardless, Jordan Hawkins was recalled from New Orleans' G League affiliate Sunday morning, so he'll likely factor in the rotation alongside enlarged roles for Naji Marshall and Herb Jones.
Dec 30, 2023
Added to injury report
Murphy is questionable for Sunday's game against the Lakers due to left knee soreness.
ANALYSIS
Murphy saw his playing time drop to 23 minutes Thursday against the Jazz, though it's unclear if this was a result of the injury. His availability should come into focus following morning shootaround and pregame warmups.
Dec 29, 2023
Limited contributions Thursday
Murphy racked up six points (2-8 FG, 2-7 3Pt), one rebound and two assists in 23 minutes during Thursday's 112-105 win over the Jazz.
ANALYSIS
Coach Willie Green deployed a 10-man rotation Thursday, notably giving Larry Nance (ribs) 25 minutes in his return from injury. Murphy struggled with his shot and did practically nothing on the boards and defense, making this a bit of an outlier performance. Given what we saw last year, Murphy should be rostered in standard fantasy leagues, but the Pelicans' dense and shockingly healthy rotation may cap his upside in the immediate future.
Dec 24, 2023
Scores 14 points off bench
Murphy ended Saturday's 106-104 loss to the Rockets with 14 points (4-11 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 3-3 FT), six rebounds and two steals across 34 minutes.
ANALYSIS
The Pelicans didn't have a good offensive showing, but Murphy made his presence felt off the bench, as he continues to make an impact in the second unit. Murphy has scored in double digits in all but one of his 10 appearances while averaging 16.1 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 0.7 steals per game.
Dec 23, 2023
Not starting Saturday
Murphy is not in the starting lineup to face the Rockets on Saturday, Lachard Binkley of TheDreamShake.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Murphy will head back to the bench with Zion Williamson (illness) ready to start. Murphy is averaging 14.9 points per game while shooting 39.6 percent from three-point range across eight bench appearances this season.
Dec 22, 2023
Paces team in scoring
Murphy supplied 28 points (10-16 FG, 6-10 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, three assists, one block and one steal across 28 minutes during Thursday's 123-104 victory over the Cavaliers.
ANALYSIS
Murphy made his first start of the season during Thursday's matchup with Zion Williamson (illness) sidelined. Murphy had an efficient showing from the floor en route to a season-best scoring total, just the second time this season that he's surpassed the 20-point mark. He missed the start of the year while recovering from offseason knee surgery but has been productive upon his return, averaging 16.3 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 25.6 minutes per game.
Dec 21, 2023
Starting against Cavaliers
Murphy will start against the Cavaliers on Thursday, Christian Clark of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Zion Williamson is sitting out Thursday due to illness, allowing Murphy to make his first start of the campaign. Murphy has fared well through eight games with the Pelicans, posting averages of 14.9 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 2.4 three-pointers.
Dec 20, 2023
Rough night Tuesday
Murphy recorded seven points (2-6 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 3-3 FT) and three rebounds in 21 minutes during Tuesday's 115-113 loss to the Grizzlies.
ANALYSIS
Murphy was a non-factor in the loss, continuing his recent stretch of modest performances. Despite being in the top 110 over the past two weeks, much of his value comes from a lack of turnovers and efficient, yet low-volume scoring. He remains a must-roster player but perhaps managers are going to have to scale back their expectations moving forward.
Dec 14, 2023
Huge effort off bench Wednesday
Murphy racked up 27 points (7-10 FG, 6-7 3Pt, 7-8 FT), six rebounds, four assists, one block and two steals in 33 minutes off the bench during Wednesday's 142-122 victory over the Wizards.
ANALYSIS
The points, boards, assists and threes were all season highs for Murphy, who didn't make his 2023-24 debut until the beginning of December as he completed his recovery from offseason knee surgery. The 23-year-old forward has scored in double digits in all five games since his return, and he's been especially impressive from long distance, averaging what would be career highs with 3.2 threes a game and a 43.2 percent mark from beyond the arc.
Dec 8, 2023
Leads Pels in scoring Thursday
Murphy accumulated 14 points (5-13 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds and one assist across 22 minutes during Thursday's 133-89 loss to the Lakers.
ANALYSIS
The Pelicans struggled badly on offense, and the fact that Murphy led the team in scoring over the likes of Zion Williamson, CJ McCollum and Brandon Ingram tells how things unfolded for New Orleans. Murphy has made just three appearances this season but has shown he will be an important piece for the team regardless of whether he starts or not. He has scored at least 14 points in each of those contests.
Dec 3, 2023
Available Monday
Murphy (rest) isn't listed on the injury report ahead of Monday's In-Season Tournament quarterfinal matchup against the Kings.
ANALYSIS
Murphy made his season debut on Friday against the Spurs and got the night off on Saturday for rest purposes, but he will be available for Monday's game against the Kings. Murphy scored 18 points across just 22 minutes in his season debut and he will be an important piece for the Pelicans moving forward, but his minutes will likely remain limited for the next few games.
Dec 2, 2023
Out Saturday
Murphy will not play in Saturday's game in Chicago for rest purposes.
ANALYSIS
Murphy made his season debut Friday and recorded 18 points (7-13 FG, 4-10 3Pt), three rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal over 22 minutes. With Saturday's contest being the second night of a back-to-back set, it is not surprising to see him out. Look for the Pelicans to continue easing him back into the swing of things in the immediate future.
Dec 2, 2023
Sparks bench in return
Murphy accumulated 18 points (7-13 FG, 4-10 3Pt), three rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal over 22 minutes during Friday's 121-106 victory over the Spurs.
ANALYSIS
Murphy missed New Orleans' first 19 games of the season due to a knee injury before making his campaign debut Friday. The third-year guard didn't appear to have much rust, knocking down seven of his 13 field-goal attempts en route to 18 points, though all four of Murphy's triples came after halftime, so perhaps he needed a couple quarters to find his shooting stroke. Murphy averaged 14.5 points and 2.6 three-pointers across 31.0 minutes per contest last season, and he should see his playing time trend upward from Friday's 22 minutes as he continues to get back into game shape.
Dec 1, 2023
Available Friday
Murphy (knee) is available for Friday's game against the Spurs.
ANALYSIS
Murphy was questionable for Friday's matchup due to his knee injury but indicated Thursday that he planned to suit up, so it isn't very surprising to see him upgraded to available. After missing the first 19 games of the year, it wouldn't be surprising to see him face a minutes restriction against San Antonio.
Nov 30, 2023
Questionable for Friday
Murphy (knee) is questionable for Friday's game against the Spurs, Erin Summers of Bally Sports New Orleans reports.
ANALYSIS
There's optimism that Murphy could make his season debut Friday against San Antonio, and he went through Thursday's practice session. The Pelicans will likely see how Murphy fares in the hours leading up to Friday's tipoff, but it wouldn't be surprising to see him suit up against San Antonio. However, if he's given the green light, it's certainly possible he faces a minutes restriction.
Nov 30, 2023
Could return Friday
Murphy (knee) could make his season debut as early as Friday against the Spurs, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Murphy has spent the first several weeks of the regular season continuing his recovery process from offseason knee surgery, but he was listed as doubtful for Wednesday's game against Philadelphia rather than being immediately ruled out. Friday's matchup is the first leg of a back-to-back set, so the Pelicans may manage his workload in some way if he's cleared to suit up against San Antonio. However, Murphy appears to be closing in on his return following a lengthy absence to begin the year.
Nov 29, 2023
Remains sidelined
Murphy (knee) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the 76ers.
ANALYSIS
Murphy's absence shouldn't come as a surprise considering his doubtful tag. However, Wednesday's tilt marked the first time Murphy had been listed as anything other than out this season. He'll have another chance to make his return from an offseason surgery Friday against San Antonio, but the matchup is the first leg of a back-to-back.
Nov 28, 2023
Upgraded to doubtful
Murphy (knee) has been upgraded to doubtful for Wednesday's game against Philadelphia.
ANALYSIS
Murphy is trending in the right direction to return to action in the near future. The 23-year-old underwent a partial meniscectomy and received a biologic injection in his left knee in early September, with a recovery timeline of 10-12 weeks. Thursday represents the 12-week mark, and while Murphy is unlikely to return before, there is potential for him to suit up Wednesday against the 76ers or Friday against the Spurs.
Nov 26, 2023
Remains out Monday
Murphy (knee) will not play Monday at Utah, Christian Clark of NOLA.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The Pelicans have not provided much information on Murphy, who's yet to play this season after undergoing surgery on his left knee back in early September. Earlier this month, Murphy was spotted shooting around at practice without noticeable limitations, but it looks as though the team is taking caution with his return-to-play plan. Murphy was initially given a 10-to-12-week timetable, which would imply that he could be ready to return at some point in the next week or two. His next chance to debut will arrive Wednesday against the 76ers.

Gets shots up at practice
Murphy (knee) remains without a firm timetable to return to game action, but he was participating in shooting drills at practice Monday, Pro Pels Talk reports.
ANALYSIS
The Pelicans ruled Murphy out for Tuesday's matchup against the Mavericks, and it remains unclear when he'll make his debut, but the Virginia product appears to be moving in the right direction as he works back from a procedure on his left knee. Murphy was initially given a 10-to-12-week timetable after undergoing surgery on Sept. 7, so if that estimation holds up he could be back on the floor sometime before the end of the month.
Oct 19, 2023
Team option exercised
The Pelicans exercised Murphy's (knee) fourth-year team option for 2024-25 on Thursday, Andrew Lopez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Murphy is set to stay in New Orleans through 2024-25. The 23-year-old forward is expected to miss the first few weeks of the regular season while recovering from left knee surgery but should be a significant part of the Pelicans' rotation when available.
Sep 7, 2023
Likely out at least 10-12 weeks
Murphy (knee) underwent a successful partial meniscectomy and received a biologic injection in his left knee Thursday, and he's expected to return to basketball activities in 10-12 weeks.
ANALYSIS
Murphy suffered his meniscus injury during a workout Tuesday and spent the last few days with the team's medical staff evaluating whether he'd need surgery. The team determined the need for a procedure Wednesday, and he'll shift his focus toward his recovery process following Thursday's surgery. The 23-year-old will be unavailable for the start of the regular season while recovering, but it's possible he's in the mix to return around mid-November. Dyson Daniels, Jordan Hawkins and Naji Marshall are candidates to see an uptick in minutes once the 2023-24 campaign gets underway.
Sep 6, 2023
Evaluating surgical options
Murphy (knee) is dealing with at least a slight meniscus tear and is evaluating surgical options, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Murphy sustained a meniscus injury in his left knee Tuesday and was evaluating whether he'll require surgery, but it appears likely that he'll need some sort of procedure following his diagnosis. The team reportedly has "significant concern" regarding his injury, and his return timetable will depend on what type of surgery he ultimately requires. Depending on the procedure, he could return around the start of the regular season, but the team will continue to evaluate options this week.
Sep 5, 2023
Suffers meniscus injury
Murphy suffered a meniscus injury to his left knee during a workout Tuesday and will undergo further testing to decide if he needs surgery or not, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
After a modest rookie season, Murphy excelled in Year 2. He was essentially a full-time starter and averaged 14.5 points, 3.6 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.1 steals in 31.0 minutes per game. Murphy's 3-and-D prowess was on full display, as he shot 40.6 percent on 6.3 three-point attempts per game. The potential return of Zion Williamson (hamstring) cast a shadow over Murphy's fantasy value in 2023-24, and this injury certainly doesn't help things either. With just over one month until the preseason kicks off, Murphy could be sidelined to start the regular season, but it doesn't appear like he's in danger of missing the entire campaign yet.

Posts 21 points in loss
Murphy totaled 21 points (6-16 FG, 4-10 3Pt, 5-5 FT), four rebounds, two assists and one steal across 44 minutes during Wednesday's 123-118 play-in game loss to Oklahoma City.
ANALYSIS
The Pelicans would have likely missed the play-in tournament without Murphy's contribution this season. Without Zion Williamson (hamstring), the team needed multiple players to take on new roles, and Murphy was a difference-maker throughout. the result was a dramatic spike over his rookie numbers. In his second season with New Orleans, Murphy started 65 games, averaging 14.5 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists.
Apr 8, 2023
Goes for game-high 31 points
Murphy ended Friday's 113-105 victory over the Knicks with 31 points (10-21 FG, 3-10 3Pt, 8-8 FT), three rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal across 39 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Murphy did most of his damage in the first half with 20 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the field while also sinking all five of his attempts from the free-throw line. He knocked down just three of nine shot attempts in the second half but still finished with a game-high 31 points as the Pelicans took care of the Knicks at home. The shooting guard has now broken the 30-point mark in back-to-back contests while his eight makes from the foul line Friday also marked a season high.
Apr 6, 2023
Pops for 30 points, adds three steals
Murphy posted 30 points (9-18 FG, 7-13 3Pt, 5-6 FT), four assists, three steals and two rebounds across 46 minutes in Wednesday's 138-131 overtime win over the Grizzlies.
ANALYSIS
In one of the stranger statistical oddities, Murphy, Herbert Jones and CJ McCollum became the second trio of teammates in NBA history to score at least 30 points and hit at least five three-pointers in the same game, after the Knicks' triumvirate of Immanuel Quickley, Obi Toppin and Quentin Grimes achieved the feat about an hour earlier in New York's 138-129 win over Indiana. Though the defensive-minded Jones' big night appears to be more of an outlier, Murphy has emerged as a consistent third piece on offense for the Pelicans behind Brandon Ingram (24 points, 13 assists) and McCollum while Zion Williamson (hamstring) has been sidelined. Murphy has reached double figures in the scoring column in each of his 17 games since re-entering the starting five March 3, averaging 19.8 points, 4.1 triples, 3.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.5 steals and 0.8 blocks over that stretch.
Apr 2, 2023
Breakout season continues
Murphy finished Saturday's 122-114 victory over the Clippers with 19 points (4-8 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 9-11 FT), four rebounds, one assist, two blocks and two steals in 39 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Murphy was tremendous in the victory, another in what has been a long line of strong performances. After a bumpy patch in January, Murphy has carved out a consistent role for himself, putting up first-round value over the past month. His ability to score efficiently from anywhere on the floor, while also contributing on the defensive end, makes him a key piece for the Pelicans as they look to push for the sixth seed.
Mar 29, 2023
Regains stroke in loss
Murphy produced 21 points (6-9 FG, 4-6 3Pt, 5-5 FT), three rebounds, three assists, two blocks and one steal in 38 minutes during Tuesday's 120-109 loss to Golden State.
ANALYSIS
After draining 10 threes last Saturday, he suffered a huge regression Monday night, nailing only one deep ball in seven attempts. Murphy was back on track in Tuesday's loss, going 4-of-6 from long range to record his seventh-best scoring total of the season. With Zion Williamson's (hamstring) playoff outlook in doubt, Murphy's role in the starting lineup should remain safe for now.
Mar 26, 2023
Drills 10 threes in blowout
Murphy closed Saturday's 131-110 win over the Clippers with 32 points (11-14 FG, 10-12 3Pt), two rebounds, one assist, one block and two steals over 37 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Murphy provided 10 of his team's 21 three-pointers in an absolute thrashing of the Clippers. While it Murphy's tour-de-force seems a bit uncommon, he completed nine-three pointers against the Trail Blazers only two weeks ago. The Pelicans are barely clinging to a playoff berth, but they would be far worse off without Murphy, who has been an incredibly effective placeholder for Zion Williamson (hamstring).
Mar 25, 2023
Will play Saturday
Murphy (toe) is available to play Saturday against the Clippers.
ANALYSIS
Murphy was trending toward being available, so this shouldn't surprise fantasy managers who have rostered the former Virginia standout. In his last 10 appearances, Murphy has averaged 18.7 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.3 steals over 36.0 minutes.
Mar 25, 2023
Expected to play Saturday
Murphy (toe) said he is "feeling fine" and expects to play in Saturday's matchup with the Clippers, Will Guillory of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Murphy was initially listed as questionable for Saturday's game with irritation in his left great toe but appears to be good to go. In his last 10 appearances, Murphy has averaged 18.7 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.3 steals over 36.0 minutes.
Mar 24, 2023
Questionable for Saturday
Murphy is questionable for Saturday's game versus the Clippers due to left great toe irritation.
ANALYSIS
This is unfortunate for the Pelicans, as Murphy has been on a tear from beyond the arc. Over the past 11 games, the sharpshooter has averaged 3.8 three-pointers per game. If he's unable to play Saturday, the Pelicans could turn to Josh Richardson and Naji Marshall to pick up the slack.
Mar 24, 2023
Records four steals in win
Murphy finished with 19 points (7-14 FG, 4-8 3Pt, 1-1 FT), two rebounds, one assist and four steals in 33 minutes during Thursday's 115-96 victory over the Hornets.
ANALYSIS
Murphy's defensive prowess was on full display Thursday as he set a new season high with four steals. After a brief hiatus from the starting lineup at the end of February, the second-year wing has drawn 10 straight starts and scored in double figures during each of those contests, averaging 18.7 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.3 steals and 0.8 blocks across 36.1 minutes. During that stretch, he's shooting 49.2 percent from the field and 44.3 percent from deep.
Mar 21, 2023
Puts up quiet 17 points
Murphy provided 17 points (6-12 FG, 3-9 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds and one block in 31 minutes during Tuesday's 119-84 win over the Spurs.
ANALYSIS
Murphy scored double-digits for the ninth straight game, continuing what has been a resurgence of sorts. After a period in which he failed to score more than nine points in four of five games, Murphy has steadied, putting up top-25 value over the past two weeks. While his value is primarily built around being an efficient yet low-volume scorer, he can chip in on the defensive end from time to time, making him a must-roster player moving forward.
Mar 15, 2023
Scores 20 in defeat
Murphy amassed 20 points (7-14 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 2-3 FT), three rebounds, one assist, one block and three steals over 38 minutes during Tuesday's 123-108 loss to the Lakers.
ANALYSIS
Murphy fell back to earth following his 41-point performance against the Trail Blazers on Sunday, but he still tied for the second-highest scoring total on the team during Tuesday's loss while also matching his highest steal mark of the season. The 22-year-old has started six consecutive matchups and has averaged 20.7 points and 4.5 rebounds in 37.0 minutes per game during that time.
Mar 13, 2023
Posts career-high 41 points
Murphy totaled 41 points (13-20 FG, 9-14 3Pt, 6-6 FT), seven rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal in 30 minutes during Sunday's 127-110 win over the Trail Blazers.
ANALYSIS
Murphy was unstoppable Sunday and carried a shorthanded Pelicans team to victory with an impressive shooting display. This 41-point outing was an outlier, but it's worth noting Murphy has scored at least 15 points in each of his last five outings while averaging 15.4 points per game since the beginning of February.
Mar 12, 2023
Woeful shooting in loss
Murphy racked up 15 points (5-12 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 3-4 FT), four rebounds, two assists and one block in 41 minutes during Saturday's 110-96 loss to Oklahoma City.
ANALYSIS
Murphy's overall stat line looks decent, but his shooting wasn't accurate, and he was particularly woeful from three-point range after making just two of his seven attempts. Regardless of the shooting woes, Murphy keeps finding ways to produce and has scored in double digits in nine of his last 10 starts.
Mar 9, 2023
Efficient scoring in win
Murphy supplied 16 points (5-9 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 3-3 FT), six rebounds, two assists, two blocks and one steal across 38 minutes during Wednesday's 113-106 victory over Dallas.
ANALYSIS
While Murphy produced only five points in the first half on 2-of-3 shooting from the field, he did establish his presence on the defensive end with four rebounds, two blocks and a steal. He started to find his stroke after the break, going 3-of-6 from the floor, including 3-of-4 from beyond the arc, for another 11 points in the second half as the Pelicans took care of the Mavericks at home. Murphy has now scored at least 15 points in three straight since being inserted into the starting lineup and has knocked down at least three three-pointers in all four games this month.
Mar 7, 2023
Shines again as starter
Murphy tallied 17 points (6-11 FG, 4-9 3Pt, 1-1 FT), five rebounds, four assists, two steals and two blocks across 37 minutes in Monday's 123-108 loss to the Kings.
ANALYSIS
While replacing Josh Richardson (personal) in the starting five for the second game in a row, Murphy once again delivered a strong all-around line in elevated minutes. Richardson's absence isn't believed to be a long-term one, and he could be back as soon as Wednesday's game against the Mavericks, but Murphy's performance of late provides plenty of justification for head coach Willie Green to keep the second-year wing in the starting five. Even if Murphy maintains his starting role when Richardson is back in action, however, he's likely to see a reduction in the 37.5 minutes per game he's averaged over the past two contests.
Mar 4, 2023
Scores 15 points in start
Murphy logged 15 points (6-14 FG, 3-9 3Pt), two rebounds, two assists and one steal across 38 minutes during Friday's 108-99 loss to the Warriors.
ANALYSIS
Murphy was reinserted into the starting lineup with Josh Richardson (personal) out, and he made the most of his extended playing time by scoring his most points since Feb. 10. The second-year wing is now averaging 13.4 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.0 steals across 47 starts this season.
Mar 3, 2023
Gets starting nod
Murphy is in the starting lineup for Friday's game versus the Warriors, Christian Clark of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Murphy will replace Josh Richardson (personal) in the starting unit Friday. The second-year forward is averaging 13.4 points, 3.6 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.0 steals in 30.3 minutes across his 46 starts this season.
Feb 23, 2023
Not starting Thursday
Murphy will come off the bench for Thursday's game against Toronto.
ANALYSIS
Murphy will make his first appearance with the reserves since Nov. 25 as Coach Willie Green will instead opt to start Josh Richardson. Murphy has come off the bench 10 times this season, averaging 10.8 points and 4.1 rebounds across 25.1 minutes.
Feb 16, 2023
Lackluster results in defeat
Murphy closed with two points (0-6 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds and one steal across 20 minutes during Wednesday's 120-102 loss to the Lakers.
ANALYSIS
Murphy had scored in double figures in his five appearances ahead of Wednesday's matchup, but he saw decreased playing time against the Lakers and failed to convert any of his field-goal attempts during the loss. Over seven outings in February, he's averaged 15.3 points and 3.6 rebounds in 30.6 minutes per game.
Feb 11, 2023
Scores 17 in 34 minutes
Murphy finished Friday's 118-107 loss to the Cavaliers with 17 points (7-13 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 1-2 FT) and four rebounds in 34 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Zion Williamson (strained right hamstring) will be re-evaluated after the All-Star break, so Murphy will continue seeing an uptick in minutes and usage. He came into Friday's game on a heater, averaging 22.3 points, 4.7 three-pointers, 4.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists over his previous three games, leading the Pelicans in 9-category value in that stretch.
Feb 5, 2023
Sets season high in 30-point game
Murphy finished with 30 points (9-11 FG, 6-8 3Pt, 6-7 FT), four rebounds, two assists and one steal in 36 minutes during Sunday's 136-104 victory over the Kings.
ANALYSIS
Murphy led all players in Sunday's game in threes made en route to setting a season-high scoring mark with a 30-point showing. Murphy has tallied 20 or more points in two straight games.
Feb 5, 2023
Strong effort Saturday
Murphy recorded 21 points (7-12 FG, 4-9 3Pt, 3-3 FT) and five rebounds across 28 minutes during Saturday's 131-126 victory over the Lakers.
ANALYSIS
Murphy was efficient from the field and ended up as one of New Orleans' best scorers in this comeback win, as he reached the 20-point plateau for the first time since Dec. 28. Don't expect Murphy to be one of New Orleans' biggest scoring weapons on a regular basis, however, as he's averaging just 12.4 points per contest across 18 outings since the calendar flipped to January and has scored more than 15 points just six times in that span.
Feb 1, 2023
Offers supplemental scoring
Murphy finished with 14 points (6-11 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 1-1 FT), three rebounds, two steals and one assist across 32 minutes in Tuesday's 122-113 loss to the Nuggets.
ANALYSIS
For the second game in a row, Murphy reached the teens in scoring while knocking down at least half of his shot attempts and chipping in at least one steal. Though his production in the past two games isn't anything eye-popping, Murphy has at least provided some hope that he can retain some utility in 12-team category leagues even with Brandon Ingram having returned to action following an extended absence. Murphy could find it more difficult to hold down a regular 30-minute role once Zion Williamson (hamstring) is playing again, however.
Jan 29, 2023
Passive performance again in loss
Murphy ended Saturday's 113-103 loss to the Wizards with 10 points (4-11 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 1-1 FT), two rebounds, two blocks and one steal in 27 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Murphy continues to do a lot of standing around for the Pelicans, providing nothing but frustration for his managers. While he has been a top 110 player over the past month, the majority of his value comes from his lack of turnovers and high efficiency from the free throw line. He is fine to have on a 12-team roster but given he has been unable to break out, even with key pieces out, his long-term value remains questionable.
Jan 20, 2023
Scores efficient 18 points in loss
Murphy racked up 18 points (7-9 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), six rebounds, two assists and one block across 40 minutes during Friday's 123-110 loss to Orlando.
ANALYSIS
Murphy put together a solid fantasy line, built primarily on his efficiency from the floor. He has now scored at least 15 points in four of his past five games, reversing a trend that saw him dropped in a number of standard formats. While not the flashiest player around, his role is relatively secure at this point, making him a must-roster player, especially for anyone in need of an efficient scorer.
Jan 14, 2023
Contributes across board
Murphy logged 19 points (6-11 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 4-4 FT), two rebounds, two assists, one block and two steals over 35 minutes during Friday's 116-110 win over Detroit.
ANALYSIS
Murphy drilled three triples and was aggressive on the offensive end, as Friday marked his second time in January attempting eight shots from deep. He's also managed to record at least one block and one steal in each of his last three games.
Jan 12, 2023
Back in double digits
Murphy accumulated 15 points (7-11 FG, 1-4 3Pt), six rebounds, one assist, one block and three steals across 34 minutes during Wednesday's 125-114 loss to the Celtics.
ANALYSIS
Murphy had been held to 13 total points over his last two contests combined heading into Wednesday's clash, but he managed to find success in Boston. He posted an efficient shooting night, and he also led his team with three steals. Muphy has now scored in double figures in three of his last five matchups.
Jan 8, 2023
Battles foul trouble Saturday
Murphy racked up seven points (3-7 FG, 1-4 3Pt), two rebounds, one assist and one block in 25 minutes during Saturday's 127-117 loss to the Mavericks.
ANALYSIS
Murphy came up short again Saturday, managing just seven points despite sticking in the starting unit. Early fouls limited him to just 25 minutes, although he wasn't having a sizeable impact even without the fouls. It appears as though he will remain a starter for the foreseeable future, making him a viable asset in 12-team formats. His production of late may indicate otherwise, resulting in him being dropped in a few spots. If that is the case in your league, he is certainly worth considering.
Dec 31, 2022
Active Saturday
Murphy (ankle) will play in Saturday's game against the Grizzlies, Andrew Lopez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Murphy suffered a right ankle sprain in Friday's game and was limited to just 20 minutes in the contest. However, he made it through warmups without any setbacks and was given the green light to suit up.
Dec 31, 2022
Questionable vs. Grizzlies
Murphy is questionable for Saturday's game against the Grizzlies due to a right ankle sprain, Jim Eichenhofer of the Pelicans' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Murphy totaled eight points, two rebounds and a steal in 20 minutes during Friday's win over the 76ers, but he sustained an ankle injury during the victory. If he's sidelined against Memphis, Devonte' Graham and Dyson Daniels could see increased run.
Dec 31, 2022
Quiet in limited minutes
Murphy logged eight points (3-4 FG, 2-2 3Pt), two rebounds and one steal in 20 minutes during Friday's 127-116 win over Philadelphia.
ANALYSIS
Murphy remained in the starting lineup but was relatively quiet after a couple of encouraging performances. He was limited to just 20 minutes as the coaching staff went with the defensive upside of guys like Jose Alvarado and Dyson Daniels. He also appeared to suffer a leg injury during the third quarter, although there has been no word as to whether that limited him down the stretch. He is probably worth holding in standard leagues, at least until Brandon Ingram (toe) returns, although his ceiling does appear somewhat capped given the depth of the Pelicans roster.
Dec 29, 2022
Looks sharp in return
Murphy produced 21 points (6-8 FG, 5-6 3Pt, 4-5 FT), three rebounds and four assists over 27 minutes during Wednesday's 119-118 victory over the Timberwolves.
ANALYSIS
Murphy missed the Pelicans' last matchup Monday against the Pacers while recovering from an illness, but he looked like his usual self in Wednesday's win. He was particularly impressive from beyond the arc, where he scored 15 of his 21 points. Murphy has now put up 20-plus points in back-to-back matchups.
Dec 28, 2022
Rejoins starting five
Murphy is in the starting lineup for Wednesday's matchup with the Timberwolves, Christian Clark of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Murphy will rejoin the starting lineup after missing Monday's game with an illness. He is averaging 14.2 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.0 steals in 30.2 minutes across his last five games.
Dec 28, 2022
Available Wednesday
Murphy (illness) is available for Wednesday's matchup against Minnesota, Andrew Lopez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
As expected, Murphy will return to action Wednesday following a one-game absence due to an illness. Brandon Ingram (toe) and Herbert Jones (COVID-19 protocols) both remain out, so Murphy should be in store for a sizable role against the Timberwolves. Over his past 14 appearances (13 starts), Murphy has averaged 14.2 points, 4.1 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.3 steals in 31.0minutes.
Dec 27, 2022
Practices Tuesday, should play
Head coach Willie Green said Murphy (illness) practiced Tuesday and will be listed as probable for Wednesday's matchup against the Timberwolves, Andrew Lopez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Murphy was sidelined for Monday's game against the Pacers after being a late addition to the injury report with an illness. However, after practicing Tuesday, it appears like the second-year wing will return to action Wednesday. Before his absence, he had scored in double figures in four of his past five appearances and posted 14.2 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.0 steals during that stretch.
Dec 26, 2022
Ruled out Monday
Murphy (illness) has been ruled out of Monday's game against the Pacers, Will Guillory of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Murphy was originally listed as questionable after being a late addition to the injury report Monday, so his absence is not really surprising. This means the Pelicans will be extremely shorthanded to face Indiana due to a plethora of absences, and Murphy being out will likely translate in more minutes for the likes of Devonte' Graham and Jose Alvarado. Murphy's next chance to play will come Wednesday against Minnesota.
Dec 26, 2022
Dealing with illness
Murphy is questionable for Monday's game against the Pacers due to a non-COVID illness, Jim Eichenhofer of the Pelicans' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Murphy was a late addition to the injury report Monday due to an illness, which doesn't bode well for his availability against Indiana. Brandon Ingram (toe) and Herbert Jones (COVID-19) have already been ruled out, Zion Williamson (rest) is doubtful and Dyson Daniels (illness), Larry Nance (Achilles) and Murphy are all questionable, so New Orleans may be extremely shorthanded against the Pacers.
Dec 24, 2022
Puts up 23 points in win
Murphy accumulated 23 points (8-13 FG, 5-8 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds, one assist and two steals in 40 minutes during Friday's 128-125 overtime win over the Thunder.
ANALYSIS
Murphy is settling well as a starter and has been enjoying more and more opportunities of late with both Zion Williamson (COVID-19) and Brandon Ingram (toe) out, and that would explain why he's scored in double digits in four of his last five outings. He's averaging 12.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.6 assists in December while shooting 43.4 percent from the field and 38.7 percent from deep, and while those numbers are solid to keep him rostered in most formats, his playing time and opportunities to contribute will decrease once either Williamson or Ingram return to the hardwood.
Dec 23, 2022
Plays well in Zion's absence
Murphy ended with 15 points (5-8 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 4-5 FT), four rebounds, one assist and two steals in 28 minutes during Thursday's 126-117 victory over San Antonio.
ANALYSIS
Murphy had been cold before his past two outings, shooting 30.6 percent from the field and 29.2 percent from three from Dec. 9 through Dec. 17. While he's still a modest 2-for-6 from distance over the past two games, he's a much improved 57.1 percent from the field. Fantasy managers should continue rostering Murphy, though once Brandon Ingram (toe) and Zion Williamson (COVID-19 protocols) are back, he may have fewer opportunities.
Dec 20, 2022
Decent effort Monday
Murphy ended with 13 points (3-6 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 6-6 FT) and five rebounds over 28 minutes during Monday's 128-119 loss to the Bucks.
ANALYSIS
Murphy didn't score a ton from the field, knocking down just three total shots, but he made up for it by getting to the free-throw line and matching his season-high output with six makes. Murphy typically does most of his damage on the defensive end of the floor for fantasy purposes, racking up 1.6 blocks-plus-steals per game, but he's infused some additional scoring in his second season (up to 12.2 points per game from 5.4 as a rookie) to garner more fantasy interest. However, Murphy's production has checked up a bit of late and figures to really stall once Brandon Ingram (toe) rejoins the fold.
Dec 14, 2022
Drops a donut in loss
Murphy racked up zero points (0-7 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 0-1 FT), two assists, one block and one steal in 25 minutes during Tuesday's 121-100 loss to the Jazz.
ANALYSIS
Murphy failed to score in the loss, missing all seven of his shot attempts. As a player who has been added in the majority of leagues, this will certainly leave a sour taste in the mouths of those who snapped him up. With that said, he has shown enough thus far this season for this to be written off as simply a bad night. The Pelicans will face off against the Jazz again Thursday, where Murphy will look to get things back on track.
Dec 7, 2022
Solid showing from downtown
Murphy notched 20 points (6-13 FG, 4-9 3Pt, 4-4 FT), five rebounds, five assists, one block and one steal across 35 minutes during Wednesday's 104-98 win over Detroit.
ANALYSIS
Murphy scored 12 of his 20 points from beyond the arc and recorded a block for the fourth time in five games. He's responded well since returning from a foot injury Nov. 25, averaging 19.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.7 steals over his last six appearances.
Dec 3, 2022
Good volume
Murphy posted 17 points (6-15 FG, 5-12 3Pt), three rebounds, two assists, one block and two steals over 33 minutes during Friday's 117-99 win over the Spurs.
ANALYSIS
Murphy continues to play a large role on the shorthanded Pelicans. Murphy is averaging 15.7 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.4 steals in 10 games as a starter this season. Notably, across his last three contests, Murphy is connecting on 41.9 percent of 10.3 three-point attempts per game.
Dec 1, 2022
Third straight 20-point game
Murphy registered 26 points (8-17 FG, 6-12 3Pt, 4-4 FT), five rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal across 37 minutes during Wednesday's 126-108 win over the Raptors.
ANALYSIS
Murphy came off the bench and did most of his damage in the second quarter on 4-of-6 shooting from the field for 12 points, including 3-of-5 from beyond the arc. He chipped in another 11 points in the second half while also grabbing up three rebounds in the final quarter as the Raptors failed to keep pace with a red-hot Pelicans offense. Murphy has now recorded three 20-point games in a row after previously failing to reach that mark in all but one game this season.
Nov 29, 2022
Strong in spot start
Murphy amassed 20 points (7-13 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 4-4 FT), six rebounds, one block and two steals across 37 minutes during Monday's 105-101 win over the Thunder.
ANALYSIS
Murphy entered the starting lineup in place of Brandon Ingram (toe) and made a big impact in the scoring department. He shot 53.8 percent from the field and totaled 20 points, falling just two points shy of tying his season-high of 22 points Oct. 25 against Dallas. The Virginia product has now put up 20 or more points in back-to-back contests on 14-for-27 from the field.
Nov 28, 2022
Starting Monday
Murphy is starting Monday's contest against the Thunder, Christian Clark of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
With Brandon Ingram (toe) on the sidelines, Murphy will officially make his eighth start of the season. The Virginia product has averaged 13.4 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.3 assist across 29.7 minutes during his time as a starter this season. Murphy figures to fall back to his bench role once Ingram returns to the lineup.
Nov 26, 2022
Top scores with 21 points
Murphy notched 21 points (7-14 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 6-7 FT), three rebounds, one assist and one steal over 26 minutes during Friday's 132-111 loss to the Grizzlies.
ANALYSIS
Murphy came off the bench to score a team-high 21 points, a lone high point on what was a disappointing night. After spending time on the sideline with an injury, Murphy could now be the beneficiary of an injury to Brandon Ingram. Ingram lasted just 18 minutes before exiting with a sprained toe. If he is to miss time, Murphy is the logical choice to step into the starting lineup. Based on what we have seen thus far, Murphy makes for a speculative add in 12-team leagues.
Nov 25, 2022
Will return Friday
Murphy (foot) will play in Friday's game versus the Grizzlies, Mark Haynes of Sideline Sources reports.
ANALYSIS
Murphy will play Friday after missing the last two games due to a foot injury. Murphy is averaging 11.3 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.0 steals in 27.1 minutes across 16 games this season.
Nov 24, 2022
Listed questionable
Murphy (foot) is questionable for Friday's game at Memphis.
ANALYSIS
A foot injury has kept Murphy out of the last two games, and the Pels will wait to see how he feels at shootaround Friday before making a final call on his status. The second-year sharpshooter out of Virginia is hitting 42.9 percent of his 5.3 three-point attempts per game thus far.
Nov 23, 2022
Won't play against San Antonio
Murphy (foot) is out for Wednesday's game against the Spurs.
ANALYSIS
Murphy has been downgraded to out for Wednesday's game due to a foot injury. His next opportunity to play will be Friday's game against the Grizzlies.
Nov 22, 2022
Deemed doubtful for Wednesday
Murphy (foot) is doubtful for Wednesday's matchup against the Spurs, Paul Garcia of ProjectSpurs.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Murphy missed his first game of the season Monday due to a foot injury and will likely be sidelined again. Devonte' Graham, Naji Marshall and Dyson Daniels all played 20 minutes off the bench during the team's blowout win over Golden State, so if Murphy remains out, look for that trio to see similar work against San Antonio.
Nov 21, 2022
Unavailable Monday
Murphy (foot) is out for Monday's contest against the Warriors, Andrew Lopez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The Virginia product will officially miss his first game of the season. Naji Marshall and Dyson Daniels both emerge as candidates to receive additional playing time. Murphy's next chance to return to New Orleans' lineup comes Wednesday in San Antonio.
Nov 21, 2022
Likely a game-time decision
Jim Eichenhofer of the Pelicans' official siteMurphy (foot) will go through warm-ups before determining whether or not he will play Monday against the Warriors, Jim Eichenhofer reports.
ANALYSIS
Murphy avoided any serious injury after stepping on Sam Hauser on Friday and will be a game-time decision Monday. With Zion Williamson (foot) likely to play, Murphy would be expected to revert back to his bench role if active.
Nov 20, 2022
Deemed questionable for Monday
Murphy (foot) is questionable for Monday's matchup against the Warriors, Jim Eichenhofer of the Pelicans' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Murphy left Friday's game due to right foot soreness, but he appears to have avoided a serious injury and could suit up Monday. The second-year forward had started three straight games with Zion Williamson (foot) sidelined, but if available, Murphy will likely revert to a bench role against Golden State with Williamson expected to play following a three-game absence.
Nov 19, 2022
Avoids serious injury
Pelicans coach Willie Green said Saturday that all testing done on Murphy's foot came back clean, and he'll be day-to-day with a right foot contusion, Andrew Lopez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Murphy exited Friday's game against the Celtics due to right foot soreness but has avoided any long-term injury. With Zion Williamson (foot) likely to return to the lineup Monday, Murphy will likely return to the bench even if he does play.
Nov 18, 2022
Will not return
Murphy will not return to Friday's game against the Celtics due to right foot soreness, Erin Summers of Bally Sports New Orleans reports.
ANALYSIS
Murphy had accumulated just one rebound and one assist across 12 minutes before exiting the contest. The severity of the injury is unknown, but his status for Monday's matchup with the Warriors is certainly up in the air.
Nov 17, 2022
Impactful in another start
Murphy ended with 19 points (7-9 FG, 5-6 3Pt), 10 rebounds, one assist, one block and three steals over 25 minutes during Wednesday's 124-110 win over Chicago.
ANALYSIS
Murphy stayed hot from beyond the arc in this one, scoring 15 of his 19 points from deep. He's knocked down eight of 12 attempts from deep over his last two contests and has shown that he can be a key contributor on the offensive end. Murphy was also able to secure his first double-double of the season by collecting 10 rebounds, a new season best. Murphy's time with the starting lineup may be coming to an end shortly, as Zion Williamson (foot) is targeting a return sometime during New Orleans' current homestand, which spans two more games.
Nov 16, 2022
Modest numbers in spot start
Murphy provided 13 points (5-11 FG, 3-6 3Pt), two rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal in 25 minutes during Tuesday's 113-102 win over the Grizzlies.
ANALYSIS
With Zion Williamson (foot) in street clothes, Murphy slipped into the starting five but otherwise didn't see a noticeable change in his workload or production. The second-year wing is showing some growth this season however, averaging 11.6 points, 4.3 boards, 2.2 threes and 0.9 steals in 28.4 minutes a night, all big increases on his rookie numbers.
Nov 15, 2022
Joins starting five
Murphy is in the starting lineup Tuesday against Memphis.
ANALYSIS
Murphy will make his first start since Nov. 2. It'll be his fifth start of the season thus far, and across his previous four starts, Murphy averaged 15.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 36.5 minutes.
Nov 11, 2022
Records 16 points Thursday
Murphy had 16 points (5-11 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 3-3 FT), three rebounds, one assist and three blocks over 31 minutes during Thursday's 106-95 loss to the Trail Blazers.
ANALYSIS
Murphy not only led New Orleans reserves in scoring in the contest, he finished second overall on the team behind Zion Williamson. This was his highest scoring performance since he put up 22 against Dallas on Oct. 25, and it was a nice bounce-back after he produced just two points in his previous game. Murphy isn't quite a must-own player in fantasy yet, but he's shown considerable improvement this season with per-game averages of 11.9 points, 4.8 boards, 1.5 assists, 2.3 triples and 1.0 steals.
Nov 5, 2022
Logs 28 minutes despite relegation
Murphy supplied 10 points (3-7 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 1-1 FT), four rebounds, four assists and two steals across 28 minutes during Friday's 114-105 victory over the Warriors.
ANALYSIS
Murphy moved back to the bench Friday, making way for the returning Brandon Ingram and Herb Jones. Despite the shift, Murphy was able to produce serviceable numbers on both ends of the floor. This was encouraging for anyone who opted to hold onto him, and a sign that he could continue to have 12-team value moving forward.
Nov 4, 2022
Back to bench Friday
Murphy will operate off the bench during Friday's game against the Warriors.
ANALYSIS
Murphy started four consecutive contests in a row in the absence of Herbert Jones (knee) and Brandon Ingram (concussion), but both forwards will return to the starting lineup Friday, sending Murphy back to his usual bench role. In three appearances as a reserve, the second-year forward has averaged 13.3 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals in 28.0 minutes per game.
Oct 27, 2022
Third-year team option picked up
The Pelicans exercised Murphy's third-year team option for 2023-24 on Thursday, Andrew Lopez of ESPN.comreports.
ANALYSIS
Murphy will become a restricted free agent after the 2024-25 season, so the Pelicans still have two more years of team control. After struggling during his rookie season, Murphy has performed well so far this season. Through four games, he is averaging 15.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.0 steals in 30.0 minutes. Most impressively, Murphy is shooting 62.9 percent from the field and 68.4 percent from three on 4.8 attempts per game.
Oct 25, 2022
Drops team-high 22 points Tuesday
Murphy closed Tuesday's 113-111 victory over Dallas with 22 points (8-8 FG, 4-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds, one assist and one steal over 36 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Murphy stepped up for the Pelicans, going 4-of-4 from beyond the arc, leading them to an improbable victory. It's been an impressive start to the season for Murphy, validating the decision many took by snapping him up late in drafts. Granted the team was without a couple of regular pieces but even when healthy, he has looked right at home running with the starters. Quite clearly, he should be added everywhere right now.
Oct 25, 2022
Starting Tuesday
Murphy is starting Tuesday's game against the Mavericks.
ANALYSIS
As expected, with Herbert Jones (knee) out, Murphy gets the nod on the wing. He saw 40 minutes in Sunday's overtime loss to the Jazz and posted 16 points, nine rebounds and one assist.
Oct 24, 2022
Scores 16 points despite loss
Murphy amassed 16 points (6-11 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 1-1 FT), nine rebounds and one assist over 40 minutes during Sunday's 122-121 overtime loss to the Jazz.
ANALYSIS
Murphy has been playing off the bench in each of New Orleans' first three contests but has delivered encouraging numbers, scoring in double digits in two of those games while also shooting an impressive 51.9 percent from the field and 60 percent from three-point range. Don't be surprised if he gets more playing time in the coming games with both Brandon Ingram (head) and Zion Williamson (hip) dealing with injuries.
Oct 20, 2022
Encouraging performance Wednesday
Murphy ended with 16 points (5-7 FG, 4-6 3Pt, 2-3 FT), nine rebounds, two assists and one block over 24 minutes during Wednesday's 130-108 win over the Nets.
ANALYSIS
Murphy flirted with a double-double in the win, despite shifting to the bench. After an encouraging preseason, it was good to see him putting up meaningful numbers when it counts. His playing time figures to be capped at about 24 minutes per night, limiting his overall upside. With that said, he should be able o do enough in that time to warrant consideration in standard formats.
Oct 19, 2022
Removed from starting lineup
Murphy is not in the starting five for Wednesday's season opener versus the Nets.
ANALYSIS
Murphy started and played 22 minutes in last Friday's preseason finale versus the Hawks. However, the returns of Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram have sent Murphy back to his bench role.
Oct 13, 2022
Another strong effort Wednesday
Murphy managed 15 points (5-11 FG, 4-9 3Pt, 1-1 FT), four rebounds, two blocks and one assist in 24 minutes during Wednesday's preseason loss to the Heat.
ANALYSIS
Murphy has been excellent in exhibition play and is making a case to see sixth-man minutes. In his three appearances, he's averaged 16.7 points on 54.5 percent shooting, 4.3 threes, 4.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.0 blocks in 25.6 minutes. Even fantasy managers in standard leagues should add Murphy to their watchlist.
Oct 9, 2022
Huge performance in win
Murphy tallied 27 points (10-15 FG, 7-10 3Pt), eight rebounds and three assists in 27 minutes in a 111-97 win Sunday in San Antonio.
ANALYSIS
Murphy was questionable with a foot injury for Sunday's game but ended up starting and putting together his best performance of the preseason. His shooting skills were on display as he made seven three-point shots. The 22-year-old started just one game for the Pelicans last season but is likely to receive an increased workload over the 13.9 minutes he averaged as a rookie. He's 9-for-14 from beyond the arc in two preseason games while playing at least 26 minutes in both contests.
Oct 9, 2022
Starting against Spurs
Murphy (foot) is starting Sunday's preseason game against San Antonio, Christian Clark of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Murphy dealt with right foot soreness ahead of Sunday's exhibition matchup, but he'll be able to play through the issue as a member of the starting five. He tallied eight points, three assists, a rebound and a steal in 26 minutes during his first appearance of the preseason.
Oct 8, 2022
Questionable Sunday
Murphy is questionable for Sunday's exhibition against the Spurs due to right foot soreness.
ANALYSIS
Murphy has appeared in one preseason game, posting eight points, three assists, one rebound and one steal in 26 minutes. Even if he sits out Sunday, there's no indication his injury is severe enough to put his status for Opening Night in question.
Oct 8, 2022
Turns in solid showing
Murphy finished with eight points (3-7 FG, 2-4 3Pt), one rebound, three assists, one steal and one block in 26 minutes during Friday's preseason game against the Pistons.
ANALYSIS
Murphy filled in well for Herbert Jones (ribs), putting together an efficient performance from the field and leading the starters with 26 minutes. While he figures to fill a bench role for the Pelicans heading into the 2022 season, he's shown early on that he can produce when called upon. Murphy continued to show his promise during the Las Vegas Summer League by dropping 30 points in 33 minutes against Atlanta.
Oct 7, 2022
Starting Friday
Murphy will start Friday's exhibition contest against the Pistons.
ANALYSIS
Murphy missed Tuesday's exhibition game with a foot injury, but he returned to practice Thursday and will be good to go Friday. With Herbert Jones (ribs) sidelined, Murphy gets elevated to the starting lineup for his first preseason action.
Oct 7, 2022
Likely to play Friday
Murphy (foot) said that he plans on playing in Friday's preseason matchup with the Pistons, Erin Summers of Bally Sports New Orleans reports.
ANALYSIS
Murphy missed Tuesday's preseason game with a foot injury, but he did return to practice Thursday. The second-year forward mentioned that he sat out Tuesday due to precaution. This is a good sign that Murphy will not miss any regular season action.
Oct 6, 2022
Returns to practice Thursday
Murphy (foot) practiced Thursday but is still questionable for Friday's preseason game against the Pistons, Andrew Lopez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
While Murphy missed Tuesday's preseason game with a foot injury, his return to practice is a good sign for his status moving forward. If he does not play Friday, his next potential preseason appearance will be Oct. 12 versus the Heat.
Oct 4, 2022
Out for Tuesday's preseason opener
Murphy (foot) has been downgraded to out for Tuesday's preseason game versus the Bulls, Andrew Lopez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Murphy was initially considered to be a game-time decision before being listed as out Tuesday. While his foot soreness may prove to be a lingering issue, there is no indication that this is anything more than preseason precaution.
Oct 4, 2022
Questionable to play Tuesday
Pelicans coach Willie Green said Murphy (foot soreness) is a game-time decision for Tuesday's preseason game versus the Bulls, Andrew Lopez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Murphy went through shootaround Tuesday but experienced some soreness. The second-year forward is looking build off of his rookie year in which he averaged 5.4 points, 2.4 rebounds and 0.6 assists in 13.9 minutes over 62 games. It is unclear how much time Murphy will miss with this injury, but it likely will not keep him out of regular season action.
Jul 12, 2022
Goes off for 30 in LVSL victory
Murphy finished Monday's Las Vegas Summer League game against Atlanta with 30 points (10-18 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 7-9 FT), six rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block in 33 minutes.
ANALYSIS
As a second-year player who played a meaningful role for New Orleans last season, Murphy is the clear alpha dog on this Pelicans summer roster, and that was explicitly clear Monday night. The Virginia product knocked down three three-pointers and worked his way to the line nine times in a game the Pels eventually won by 28 points. Murphy will likely step into a slightly larger role in the rotation next season, but the Pelicans are bringing back most of their major piece on the wing, so he'll still play behind Herbert Jones and Brandon Ingram.
Apr 16, 2022
Gets hot from deep
Murphy had 14 points (4-7 FG, 4-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds and two assists across 24 minutes during Friday's 105-101 victory over the Clippers.
ANALYSIS
Murphy hit two threes during a 10-0 run in the fourth quarter that gave the Pelicans a 101-94 lead. The rookie made three three-pointers total in the final frame and connected on at least four in the same game for just the fourth time this season. The unlikely hero will look to stay hot against the Suns during Round 1 of the playoffs.
Apr 13, 2022
Shifts to bench Wednesday
Murphy will come off the bench for Wednesday's play-in game against the Spurs, Erin Summers of Bally Sports New Orleans reports.
ANALYSIS
With the Pelicans going back to their usual starters after resting several of them for Sunday's regular season finale, Murphy will head to the bench as Brandon Ingram (hamstring) and Herbert Jones rejoin the starting five. In his lone start of the season Sunday, the rookie totaled 15 points, six rebounds, one assist and two steals across 27 minutes of action.
Apr 10, 2022
Will start finale
Murphy will start Sunday's game against the Warriors, Pelicans broadcaster Erin Summers reports.
ANALYSIS
With several regulars out, including Brandon Ingram (hamstring) and Herbert Jones (lower leg), the Pelicans will turn to a younger starting five featuring Murphy on the wing. The rookie out of Virginia has mostly played a small role off the bench this season, but he's picked up more minutes over the last month and should be set for a notable leap in playing time Sunday. Back on March 11, Murphy saw a season-high 28 minutes and posted 32 points, nine rebounds and two assists in a loss to Charlotte.
Mar 28, 2022
Pops for 21 off bench
Murphy ended Sunday's 116-108 victory over the Lakers with 21 points (7-12 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 3-3 FT) and four rebounds in 25 minutes off the bench.
ANALYSIS
The rookie forward had scored only 23 points in his prior five games combined, but Murphy nearly matched that output Sunday as he helped the Pelicans put together a huge comeback win against one of the teams they're battling for a spot in the play-in tournament. He's only scored in double digits four times all year, but three of those performances have come in the last nine contests, a stretch during which he's averaging 10.6 points, 3.2 boards, 2.1 threes and 1.4 assists in 19.4 minutes.
Mar 12, 2022
Explodes for 32 points off bench
Murphy posted 32 points (12-20 FG, 7-12 3Pt, 1-2 FT), nine rebounds and two assists over 28 minutes during Friday's 142-120 loss to the Hornets.
ANALYSIS
Murphy was recalled to the Pelicans on Wednesday and put on a show Friday. The rookie had played fewer than five minutes in each of his last five appearances at the NBA level, but with CJ McCollum (COVID-19 protocols) and Brandon Ingram (hamstring) both sidelined, he garnered an increased role off the bench and didn't disappoint. Before Friday, Murphy had scored in double figures just once -- 12 points against the Pistons on Feb. 1 -- and had grabbed a season-high six rebounds on three separate occasions. Given his career-high performance, the two-way player out of Virginia figures to have earned an increased role down the stretch.
Mar 9, 2022
Recalled to New Orleans
Murphy was recalled to the Pelicans on Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Murphy has played fewer than five minutes in each of his last five appearances for the Pelicans. However, the rookie may see an increased role off the bench Wednesday if Brandon Ingram (hamstring) is sidelined for a second consecutive contest.
Feb 2, 2022
Solid performance off bench
Murphy totaled 12 points (2-5 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 6-6 FT) and five rebounds across 15 minutes during Tuesday's 111-101 win over the Pistons.
ANALYSIS
Murphy made his first appearance Tuesday after a seven-game absence due to COVID-19 protocols. He was technically available for Monday's contest as well, but he didn't see the court, which hasn't been unusual for the rookie. However, Murphy made his presence felt off the bench against the Pistons by scoring a career-high 12 points to go along with five boards. He's only averaging 4.0 points and 2.2 rebounds in 12.8 minutes per game, but he may get some extra looks in the second half of the season if New Orleans falls further out of the playoff picture.
Jan 31, 2022
Available Monday
Murphy (COVID-19 protocols) will be available for Monday's contest against the Cavaliers, Will Guillory of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Murphy has missed the last six games due to the NBA's health and safety protocols. While he's available, it's unclear how much playing time the rookie will actually get. He's averaging just 12.8 minutes per game across 36 appearances, but the Pelicans have already ruled Brandon Ingram (ankle) out and Josh Hart (knee) is questionable, so there may be an opening for him to garner a larger role than usual.
Jan 30, 2022
Clears protocols
Murphy (COVID-19 protocols) doesn't appear on the Pelicans' injury report ahead of Monday's game in Cleveland.
ANALYSIS
Murphy was placed in the league's health and safety protocols Jan. 24, but his absence from the injury report implies that he's not only been cleared to rejoin the team, but also indicates that the Pelicans have no concerns about his conditioning. While Murphy is on track to suit up Monday, he wasn't part of the rotation prior to missing time and may not get minutes, especially if one or both of Brandon Ingram (ankle) and Josh Hart (knee) -- who are listed as questionable -- are able to play.
Jan 24, 2022
Latest to enter protocols
Murphy entered the NBA's COVID-19 protocols Monday, Pelicans broadcaster Erin Summers reports.
ANALYSIS
Murphy recently returned from a G League assignment and was initially expected to be available for Monday's game against the Pacers, but he'll now be unavailable for most, if not all, of the team's four-game Week 15 schedule. The rookie out of Virginia has not been a part of coach Willie Green's regular rotation of late.
Jan 24, 2022
Back from G League
Murphy was recalled from the G League on Monday.
ANALYSIS
The rookie out of Virginia was sent down to Birmingham to play in the Squadron's game against the Austin Spurs on Sunday, which he finished with 33 points, 11 rebounds and three assists. He had a strong summer league and preseason, but Murphy hasn't made much of an impact at the NBA level this season. Prior to the G League assignment, he'd appeared in only two of the Pelicans' last nine contests.
Jan 16, 2022
Non-factor in loss
Murphy closed with one steal across two minutes during Saturday's 120-105 loss to the Nets.
ANALYSIS
Murphy has played just eight minutes over his last three appearances for the Pelicans. The rookie first-round pick will likely get sent to the G League to get some extended run soon if he remains out of the Pelicans' rotation for much longer.
Dec 27, 2021
Fails to score in 15 minutes
Murphy produced zero points (0-6 FG, 0-6 3Pt), five rebounds and two assists over 15 minutes during Sunday's 117-112 loss to the Thunder.
ANALYSIS
Murphy did himself no favors in the loss, going 0-of-6 from the floor in an uninspiring performance. There have been calls for him to see more playing time with the Pelicans highly unlikely to make the playoffs. His time may eventually come but based on what we have seen thus far, he is a long way off being anywhere close to a 12-team asset.
Dec 14, 2021
Back with parent club
Murphy was recalled to the Pelicans on Tuesday, Andrew Lopez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Murphy tallied 18 points, 11 rebounds and six assists during Birmingham's win over Memphis on Monday. However, the rookie is struggling to carve out a role with the Pelicans and is averaging just 4.5 points and 2.2 rebounds across 14.0 minutes.
Dec 8, 2021
Recalled to New Orleans
Murphy was recalled to the Pelicans on Wednesday, Andrew Lopez of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Murphy tallied 18 points and seven rebounds during Birmingham's win Tuesday. Now back with New Orleans, the rookie first-round pick will likely assume his usual backup forward role.
Dec 6, 2021
Scoreless in 15 minutes
Murphy closed with zero points (0-6 FG, 0-4 3Pt), six rebounds and one steal across 15 minutes during Sunday's 118-108 loss to Houston.
ANALYSIS
After strong showings in Summer League and the preseason, Murphy was a late-round target in many drafts, but he's failed to deliver any tangible results. Entering Sunday, he'd hit at least one three-pointer in five straight games, but the Virginia product isn't seeing enough run to warrant fantasy attention in most leagues.
Oct 26, 2021
Another poor showing Monday
Murphy closed with just six points (2-4 FG, 2-4 3Pt), three rebounds and one steal in 20 minutes during Monday's 107-98 victory over Minnesota.
ANALYSIS
Despite playing consistent minutes off the bench, Murphy has been unable to make the most of his opportunity. Coming off an impressive preseason, the hope was that he could be a legitimate scoring threat on a team crying out for points production. For now, he can be safely left on the wire in standard leagues; however, fantasy managers will want to keep an eye on his production moving forward.
Oct 21, 2021
Plays 18 minutes in NBA debut
Murphy logged six points (2-7 FG, 2-5 3Pt) and two assists in 18 minutes during Wednesday's 117-97 loss to Philadelphia.
ANALYSIS
Murphy was dominant during the preseason and averaged 17.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 29.5 minutes per game across four appearances. The first-round pick came off the bench in his professional debut Wednesday, but he still saw ample playing time and led the team's bench players in scoring. If the 21-year-old is able to recapture some of his preseason production, it wouldn't be surprising to see him carve out a larger role for the Pelicans.
Oct 11, 2021
Draws first start of preseason
Murphy is starting Monday's preseason game against the Jazz.
ANALYSIS
Murphy has been unstoppable through his team's first three exhibitions, and he'll be rewarded with a start Monday evening. It'll be difficult to keep the first-round pick out of Utah's starting rotation if he continues to play at such a high level.
Oct 9, 2021
Keeps strong play up Friday
Murphy posted 17 points (4-12 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 6-6 FT), 10 rebounds, two assists and one steal in 31 minutes during Friday's 121-85 preseason loss to the Bulls.
ANALYSIS
The 17th overall pick in this year's draft continues to make a case for the starting lineup. In three preseason games, the sharpshooting wing has averaged 19.3 points on 57.7 percent shooting from distance, plus 7.3 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 30.1 minutes.
Oct 6, 2021
Goes off again
Murphy finished Wednesday's preseason game against the Magic with a game-high 20 points (7-13 FG, 6-9 3Pt), six rebounds and one assist.
ANALYSIS
Two nights after going off for 21 points and six three-pointers against the Timberwolves, Murphy followed up with another impressive performance in a team-high 29 minutes off the bench. New head coach Willie Green continues to speak highly of the rookie out of Virginia, who's already making a strong case to be a prominent factor in the Pelicans' regular-season rotation.
Oct 4, 2021
Fantastic from three
Murphy recorded 21 points (7-16 FG, 6-10 3Pt, 1-2 FT) and six rebounds during Monday's preseason loss to Minnesota.
ANALYSIS
The rookie provided an instant spark offensively off the bench, as Murphy finished with a fantastic performance from three. Murphy is reportedly competing for a sporting start in the Pelicans' opening night lineup, and if he continues to knock down shots from the perimeter consistently this preseason, it's possible he could work his way into the starting five for new head coach Willie Green. Either way, Murphy will be a name worth monitoring in deeper fantasy leagues.

Impressing in practice
Murphy could be in the mix for a spot in the starting lineup, Christian Clark of NOLA.com reports.
ANALYSIS
New head coach Willie Green said Thursday that his starting lineup is still to be determined, but he did not rule out the possibility of the rookie being a part of that group. Green noted that Murphy "shot the lights out" at practice, so it appears his red-hot stroke in Summer League has carried over thus far. Regardless of how the starting five ultimately shakes out, Murphy looks to be in line for a sizable role in Year 1. For fantasy purposes, he's not worth drafting in most leagues, but he could eventually attain relevance as a three-point specialist.

Drains six threes in debut
Murphy finished Monday's summer league win over the Bulls with 26 points (9-15 FG, 6-9 3Pt, 2-2 FT), nine rebounds and two assists.
ANALYSIS
It was an extremely impressive debut for the No. 17 overall pick, who was billed as one of the best sharpshooters in the 2021 NBA Draft. The hope is that Murphy will be ready to contribute right away for a team in desperate need of three-point shooting -- especially after losing Lonzo Ball in free agency. Murphy projects to compete with Josh Hart, Garrett Temple and Naji Marshall for minutes off the bench.
