Even so, Haliburton has settled in as a steady source of dimes, triples and steals while keeping his turnovers lower than most of the league's ball-dominant guards.

Haliburton has a favorable matchup as he looks to bounce back Friday against a Bulls squad allowing the most points per game (123.2) in the league.

There had been speculation of a back injury, something that may have been limiting his output. Based on his recent efforts, his health may also be trending in the right direction.

This was a terrific performance by Haliburton, but games like this have been few and far between this campaign unlike the 2023-24 season. Through the first 18 games, he's on pace to shoot a career-low 39.2 percent from the field and 32.9 percent from beyond the arc with averages of 16.8 points, 8.8 assists, 3.4 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 2.8 three-pointers.

A performance like this was long overdue, and it bumps up his season averages to 16.7 points, 8.3 assists, 4.3 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 2.1 three-pointers. His fantasy managers are likely breathing a little easier after this eruption.

Haliburton's numbers have been all over the map to begin the year, but he's strung together four straight double-digit assist totals after a slow start in the category. He lifted his field goal percentage to 38.2 percent thanks to the strong showing, but that's almost 10 points below his result from last season. Haliburton's past successes suggest his shot will even out eventually, but at least his assist numbers are generating fantasy value.

While the 11 assists are nice, his overall production has been massively underwhelming. The hope is that this is just a funk that he can work his way out of. However, there could come a point very soon when this becomes a worrying trend.

This hasn't been the start of the season Haliburton would've wanted, as he also struggled in the win over the Pistons on Wednesday, tallying 15 points but going a meager 1-for-9 from three-point range. The star floor general is way too talented to continue struggling at this rate for an extended period, so fantasy managers shouldn't be overly concerned with these subpar outings. Still, Haliburton needs to bounce back quickly to avoid this slump to becoming something more significant.

T.J. McConnell will replace him in the starting five Wednesday.

The Pacers exercised Haliburton's fourth-year option for 2023-24 on Wednesday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.

This move comes as no surprise as Haliburton figures to be the Pacers' No. 1 option for the foreseeable future. Indiana sent Domantas Sabonis to Sacramento at the trade deadline to acquire the 2020 first-round pick, and Haliburton went on to average 17.4 points, 9.5 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 1.9 steals across 34 games with the Pacers last year. During that stretch, he shot 47.9 percent from the field and 39.7 percent from three (5.4 attempts per game).

Haliburton put up 17 points (7-14 FG, 2-5 3PT, 1-1 FT), 10 assists, four rebounds and two steals in Sunday's 134-126 loss to Brooklyn.

Haliburton picked up his 25th double-double of the season and his third game of at least 17 points and nine assists in his last four. The second-year guard has averaged 17.5 points, 9.6 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game since being traded from Sacramento to Indiana.

The second-year guard continues to thrive in Indiana after being traded from Sacramento at the deadline. Haliburton is finishing the campaign on a high note, averaging 21.5 points, 9.7 assists, 4.5 boards, 2.2 threes and 2.0 steals over the last six games.

Haliburton finished with 21 points (7-12 FG, 3-4 3PT, 4-4 FT), eight rebounds, five assists and two steals in Tuesday's 131-122 loss to Philadelphia.

Haliburton has gotten off to a nice start in April. The second-year guard is putting up 24.5 points on 66.7 percent shooting from the field and 54.5 percent from deep compared to just 14.7 points on 45 percent from the field and 34.8 percent from deep.

Haliburton closed Sunday's 121-117 loss to the Pistons with 19 points (6-13 FG, 0-5 3Pt, 7-8 FT), nine rebounds, 17 assists and two blocks across 39 minutes.

Haliburton matched his career-high 17 assists, falling one rebound shy of a triple-double. Haliburton struggled from beyond the arc, but he's been scorching hot from three of late. Haliburton will be a top-10 point guard in fantasy drafts next season.

Haliburton had 30 points (10-11 FG, 6-6 3Pt, 4-4 FT), one rebound, two assists and three steals over 26 minutes before fouling out of Friday's 128-123 loss to the Celtics.

Haliburton didn't offer too much outside of his scoring figures, but this was the best shooting performance he's had in his NBA career so far after needing just 11 shots to reach the 30-point mark. The former Kings point guard endured a slump in March but that seems to be in the past now, and he's recorded 25 or more points in two of his last three contests, a span in which he's also notched two double-doubles.

Haliburton totaled 25 points (9-19 FG, 4-9 3Pt, 3-4 FT), three rebounds, 13 assists, two blocks and two steals across 40 minutes during Monday's 132-123 loss to the Hawks. He also had four turnovers.

While Haliburton wasn't overly efficient Monday, he logged a strong offensive effort, in addition to elite facilitating. Haliburton had failed to exceed 10 points in five of six prior contests -- so the productive outing was a welcome sight. Haliburton remains sporadic from deep, but he knocked down four threes against Denver in a January meeting and will face the Nuggets against Wednesday.

Haliburton (back) has been cleared to play Thursday against Memphis.

As expected after he moved from questionable to probable earlier in the day, Haliburton has been given the green light to take the floor. With Malcolm Brogdon (rest) out, Haliburton could be looking at another high-minute, high-usage night as the Pacers play out the string on a lost season. Haliburton is coming off of a 13-point, 15-assist, three-steal effort against Sacramento on Wednesday night.

Haliburton, however, was perfect in that department, supplying 15 assists and zero turnovers. Don't be surprised if Indiana looks to get him some rest moving forward.

There's no reason for fantasy managers to panic, as these types of games are quite few and far between for Haliburton, who has looked excellent overall since moving away from Sacramento. On a positive note, he handed out at least eight assists for a fifth straight game. A softer matchup is in store Friday when the Pacers face the Rockets.

Haliburton tallied 19 points (8-17 FG, 3-5 3Pt), 10 assists, three steals and two rebounds across 37 minutes Saturday in the Pacers' 119-108 win over the Spurs.

With Malcolm Brogdon (concussion) sidelined for the front end of a back-to-back set, Haliburton shifted over from shooting guard to point guard and was able to come away with his fifth double-double in 12 games since joining the Pacers. Indiana has already ruled Brogdon out for Sunday's game in Atlanta, so Haliburton could once again benefit from an uptick in his scoring and assist chances as the Pacers' primary playmaker out of the backcourt.

Tuesday's effort was Haliburton's 11th game as a member of the Pacers, and he continues to put on strong performance after strong performance. It was his seventh time reaching at least 20 points and his sixth time reaching nine assists, plus his seventh game with multiple steals. At this point, he's clearly a nightly threat for 20 points, 10 dimes and two swipes on efficient shooting, making him one of the best guards in fantasy basketball.

Haliburton posted 15 points (5-11 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 4-4 FT), seven rebounds, 11 assists and three steals over 37 minutes during Sunday's 133-123 loss to Washington. He also had four turnovers.

Haliburton struggled from beyond the arc and is shooting just 25 percent from deep over his past three contests. Over 37 minutes, Haliburton logged a team-worst minus-18, as Indiana's defense was carved up by Washington. He'll look to pilot a win Tuesday against Cleveland.

Haliburton finished with 21 points (7-16 FG, 3-10 3Pt, 4-6 FT), three rebounds, six assists, two blocks and three steals over 40 minutes during Wednesday's 122-114 overtime victory over the Magic.

Haliburton scored 20-plus points for a third consecutive game and for the sixth time over his last eight contests since being traded to Indiana. He also registered multiple steals and multiple blocks in the same game for just the fourth time during that campaign. As a Pacers, the second-year guard has averaged 20.4 points, 9.6 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 2.1 steals in 38.3 minutes per game.

His historically significant night was marred by six turnovers, but that's a far cry form his polished average of 2.4 per night. Freshly 22 years old, Haliburton is returning massive dividends on his ADP.

Haliburton ended Sunday's 128-107 victory over the Celtics with 22 points (8-12 FG, 4-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, nine assists, one block and one steal in 35 minutes.

Haliburton knocked down tough shots throughout the contest, while also doing so efficiently alongside his typical distributing prowess. His presence has yielded a strong resonating factor on Indiana's offensive -- with team three-point shooting climbing from 33.2 to 33.5 over just six games with Haliburton in the lineup. The Pacers now enter a four-game week against porous defenses in Orlando, Detroit and Washington.

Haliburton finished with two points (1-4 FG, 0-3 3Pt), 11 assists, eight rebounds and two steals across both legs of the Rising Stars competition at All-Star Weekend.

Haliburton wasn't overly aggressive offensively, but he did dish out 11 assists, which were the most among all contestants. The 21-year-old also notched a game-high two steals during the championship matchup, but his efforts weren't enough as Team Barry escaped with a two-point victory.

Haliburton currently ranks sixth in total assists, situated behind Russell Westbrook and above Nikola Jokic, Luka Doncic, Lamelo Ball and Darius Garland. It's safe to say Haliburton is keeping good company heading into the All-Star break.

Haliburton continues to show that he's a high-level facilitator when given the opportunity, but he also drilled six three-pointers and extended his streak to five consecutive games with at least one steal. The recent addition has hit the ground running in Indiana, having played 40 and 41 minutes, respectively, in his first two games since coming over from Sacramento. With Malcolm Brogdon (Achilles) still sidelined and without any concrete timetable whatsoever, there's a strong chance Haliburton functions as the Pacers' top offensive option for most of the remainder of the regular season.

Fantasy-wise, it's somewhat of a lateral move for Haliburton, though he could function as the Pacers' No. 1 option over the final two months of the regular season in the event Brogdon -- who's played in only two games since Christmas -- is shut down.

The Kings were missing De'Aaron Fox (ankle) for the fifth straight contest, again opening things up for Haliburton on offense. His scoring output was significantly below the 38 points he poured in Saturday but still led the team in a blowout loss. Haliburton is most effective when Fox sits out, but he has proven to be a strong fantasy asset no matter the situation with per-game averages of 14.4 points, 7.2 assists, 3.9 boards, 2.1 three-pointers and 1.6 steals on the campaign.

Haliburton put up a career-high 38 points (11-19 FG, 5-9 3Pt, 11-12 FT) and added seven assists, three rebounds and three steals across 40 minutes Saturday in the Kings' 103-101 loss to the 76ers.

With De'Aaron Fox (ankle) missing a fourth consecutive game, Haliburton once again benefited from elevated usage, though he was able to capitalize on the extra opportunity Saturday after combining for only 18 points on 7-for-23 shooting from the field between the previous two contests. Expectations for Haliburton should remain somewhere between the two extremes moving forward, though he'll see a downturn in both his field-goal and free-throw attempts regardless whenever Fox is able to return to the lineup. All told, Haliburton has mostly been able to build on his promising rookie season, as he's mostly maintained his shooting splits from a year ago despite upping his scoring and assists average by 1.3 and 1.9 per game, respectively.

Haliburton amassed seven points (2-9 FG, 0-5 3Pt, 3-3 FT), five rebounds, seven assists, one block and one steal in 27 minutes during Tuesday's 128-75 loss to the Celtics.

Haliburton had a rough night offensively and there was little that went right for him, though at least he salvaged his fantasy day with decent contributions in the other categories outside of scoring. Haliburton and the entire Kings offense will try to bounce back when facing the Hawks on the road Wednesday.

In each of his last five appearances, Haliburton has recorded at least eight assists.

Haliburton led Sacramento in scoring in the contest, and he was efficient by making half of his field-goal attempts. The second-year guard has stepped up his scoring since mid-December, registering 20-plus points in seven of his 14 contests. Haliburton is also working as the Kings' top distributor, leading the team with 6.9 assists per game on the campaign.

Despite not possessing similar averages across all of the 2021-22 Kings season, Haliburton is their primary contributor concerning both statistical categories. Fantasy managers should consider him an elite option until further notice.

Haliburton wasn't efficient with his shot in the win, but he did well as a distributor with a team-leading 10 dimes. Though De'Aaron Fox continues to be listed as the team's starting point guard, Haliburton has emerged as the team's top distributor, averaging 6.6 dimes per game to Fox's 5.1.

In the four games the Kings have played without floor general De'Aaron Fox (COVID-19 protocols), Haliburton is posting per-game averages of 23.5 points, 11.3 dimes, 4.3 boards, 2.8 three-pointers and 2.0 steals.

Haliburton chipped in 24 points (8-18 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 6-7 FT), four rebounds, 11 assists and three steals across 41 minutes during Monday's 113-98 loss to Golden State.

Haliburton again functioned as the team's lead ball-handler in the absence of De'Aaron Fox (COVID-19 protocols). The second-year guard has thrived in the role, notching double-digit assists in three straight contests and averaging 24.0 points over that span. Fox's return timeline is currently unclear, and it stands to reason that Haliburton has a strong chance of continuing to produce beefed-up numbers for as long as the team's regular point guard remains out of commission.

The Kings bounced back from an ugly loss to Memphis on Friday, shooting 50.5 percent as a team and draining 14 of their 26 attempts from beyond the arc. On the season, he's putting up 12.1 points, 5.3 assists, 3.9 rebounds, 1.9 steals, 0.8 blocks and 1.6 threes per game with a 45/38/77 shooting line.

Given that he's only converting at a 26.3 percent rate from downturn during that span -- a far cry from his 40.5 percent season-long rate -- Haliburton probably has more scoring upside than he's shown since re-entering the starting five. Fox is expected to miss at least two more games, so Haliburton should continue to deliver elevated production through the weekend.

Haliburton recorded 23 points (9-20 FG, 4-9 3Pt, 1-2 FT), nine assists, five rebounds, three steals and one block in 40 minutes during Tuesday's 127-118 loss to the Nets.

Tuesday's performance was one of Haliburton's best of his career. He matched his career high in points and steals while managing to hand out nine dimes to just one turnover. This month, the rookie now has five 20-point efforts.

Haliburton is a do-it-all guard, averaging 12.4 points, 5.2 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game this season and has a bright future in the league.

The Kings started DaQuan Jeffries at the three, and Haliburton was usually his direct pivot in the second unit. The rookie was easily the better option on Sunday, and the Kings look their best when Fox and Haliburton are running together. The Kings continue to tinker with their lineup as they try to find an ideal frontcourt situation, and Haliburton is sometimes at the mercy of Harrison Barnes' placement in the lineup. However, Haliburton can play three positions, giving him ample opportunity to log significant time.

Haliburton had 14 points (6-12 FG, 2-6 3Pt), seven assists and three rebounds in Saturday's loss to Orlando.

With De'Aaron Fox (knee) sitting out, Haliburton was able to make his second start of the season, and while he provided another balanced line, it was somewhat of a disappointment that he saw only 27 minutes. Nonetheless, Haliburton has scored in double-figures in five straight games, and he's averaging 17.2 points, 5.2 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 1.6 steals in that span, while shooting 57.9 percent from the field and 56.7 percent from three (6.0 3PA/G).

Haliburton has been a steady source of offensive production for the Kings, and he has scored in double digits in all but five games to date -- very consistent numbers for a rookie that has come off the bench in all but one of his appearances this season.

Haliburton has been effective for the Kings early in his rookie season, and he posted his first career double-double in Friday's win over Toronto despite coming off the bench. He was inefficient from the perimeter against the Raptors, but he had his third double-digit scoring total in the last four games and was still a key offensive force in the win.

Haliburton led Kings reserves with 31 minutes and 16 points, joining all five of Sacramento's starters with double-digit scoring. However, he made an even bigger impact on the defensive end with a career-high four blocks to go along with a pair of thefts. The 6-foot-5 guard shouldn't be expected to emerge a consistent shot-blocking threat -- he entered Friday with only six swats over 13 games --- but the rookie has grabbed a prominent role among the Kings' second unit by showing that he can consistently contribute on offense.

Haliburton and the Kings will not play Sunday and Monday against the Grizzlies after the games were postponed, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.

As of now, Friday's game against the Knicks will go on as scheduled, but the Kings will not play their Sunday-Monday back-to-back due to COVID-19 contact tracing within the Grizzlies organization.

If Fox is forced to miss time, Haliburton is likely to receive an uptick in playing time and could make a solid claim for rookie of the year honors.

Haliburton was quiet in his professional debut, playing 20 minutes off the bench in Friday's loss. There has been some talk he could be in the starting lineup for the Kings come opening night. Whether or not he supplants Buddy Hield remains to be seen; however, he should find himself in a sizeable role right out of the gate no matter his designated title. While he is not a must-roster player at this stage, he is worth keeping an eye on moving forward, especially if you value assists and steals.
