San Antonio's plan all along was for Wembanyama to appear in two games before resting up for the regular season. To be clear, there is no injury to report. Wembanyama ended his Summer League in style, scoring 27 points with 12 rebounds, three blocks and a steal over 27 minutes Sunday.

Wembanyama bounced back from a mediocre first performance in a big way, scoring in a much more efficient manner. The French big man was able to find his shot from deep as well as in the mid-range, where he made an impressive pull-up jumper early in the game. Wembenyama was a force defensively once again, collecting three blocks and a steal while altering many more shots at the rim. There is some speculation that this could be the last Summer League game for Wembanyama, but nothing has been confirmed to this point.

Wembanyama recorded nine points (2-13 FG, 1-6 3PT, 4-4 FT), eight rebounds, three assists and five blocks in 27 minutes of Friday's 76-68 Summer League win over Charlotte.

This was a messy game from start to finish, and Wembanyama seemed to struggle with Charlotte constantly throwing double teams at him. Despite the poor shooting and muted fantasy line, Wembanyama still showed plenty of flash with his playmaking and ability to dribble with his immense 7-foot-4 frame.

Wembanyama (rest) is on the Spurs' Summer League roster for Las Vegas, Andrew Lopez of ESPN.com reports.

Wembanyama's first opportunity to see action will come in Friday's Summer League game against the Hornets. While the French phenom is expected to play, San Antonio may opt to bring him along slowly and limit his minutes initially.

Wembanyama won't join the Spurs in Sacramento to begin Summer League play in early July, Don Harris of News 4 San Antonio reports.

Although Wembanyama will be sidelined for the California Classic, he'll join the team for the NBA 2K24 Summer League in Las Vegas, which begins July 7. The rookie's role in the Summer League remains to be seen, but he'll presumably see some game action once the Spurs arrive in Las Vegas. The 19-year-old was one of the best prospects in recent memory prior to being drafted by San Antonio at No. 1 overall, and he should immediately have a prominent role for the Spurs once the regular season gets underway.
