Logs productive outing in Week 13
Allar completed 17 of 26 passes for 292 yards and two touchdowns during Friday's 42-0 win against Michigan State.
ANALYSIS
Allar recorded one of his best statistical performances of the season to bounce back after his roughest outing the year versus Michigan followed by an injury-shortened outing against Rutgers in Week 12. The sophomore quarterback tied his season high for yards per attempt, and he tossed multiple touchdown passes for the sixth time in 12 games this season, hitting running back Kaytron Allen and tight end Tyler Warren for scores within the 10-yard line. Allar could've had an opportunity for another touchdown in the third quarter, but redshirt freshman backup Beau Pribula came in for a two-yard rushing touchdown before taking over for the remainder of this blowout win. Across 12 starts for the Nittany Lions this season, Allar completed 61.3 percent of his passes for 2,336 passing and 23 touchdowns to just one interception to go along with 69 rushing attempts for an additional 170 yards and four scores.

Available against MSU
Allar (undisclosed) is available for Penn State's game Friday at Michigan State.
ANALYSIS
Allar is expected to be Penn State's starting quarterback Friday, a fortunate circumstance after he was observed not throwing the ball during his team practice Tuesday. Allar will look to get back on track after having failed to log more than 100 passing yards during each of his last two games, against Michigan and Rutgers respectively.
Nov 21, 2023
Not throwing in practice
Allar (undisclosed) was observed in uniform but was not throwing the ball during practice Tuesday, Audrey Snyder of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Coach James Frankin previously set the expectation that Allar will be playing this Saturday against Michigan State but his non-participation draws a question mark on his status. More news will surface regarding his availability as the week progresses.

Expected to play Saturday
Coach James Franklin indicated Monday that Allar (undisclosed) is expected to play in Saturday's game against Michigan State, On3.com reports
ANALYSIS
Allar suffered an undisclosed injury during last week's game against Rutgers. The sophomore quarterback seemed to avoid serious injury and is expected to be active for the season finale against the Spartans.
Nov 18, 2023
Likely avoids serious injury
Penn State coach James Franklin said that he doesn't believe Allar suffered a significant injury in Saturday's game versus Rutgers, Tyler Donohue of 247Sports.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Allar played almost all of Saturday's contest, as backup quarterback Beau Pribula attempted just one pass. In total, Allar completed 6-of-13 passes for 79 yards to go along with three rushes for 28 yards on the ground. While the sophomore signal-caller isn't expected to have suffered a significant injury, more should be known about his status for Week 13's matchup with Michigan State in the coming days.
Nov 12, 2023
Late touchdown salvages poor outing
Allar completed 10 of 22 passes for 70 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 24-15 loss versus Michigan. He also had 10 rushes for 49 yards with one touchdown.
ANALYSIS
Allar logged a disappointing performance for the second time in Penn State's two biggest games of the season. The sophomore starter had his worst outing of the season during the crushing Week 8 loss to Ohio State. But, he logged back-to-back strong showings with seven total touchdowns over the last two weeks against Maryland and Indiana. It ultimately appears that he and the Nittany Lions wideout don't have strong enough connections to square off against the best opponents on their schedule, as Allar logged a career lows in both passing yards and yards per attempt. An eight-yard passing touchdown with two minutes remaining did help salvage his paltry stat line, but there's no denying this poor passing offense but a significant cap on Allar's fantasy value. He'll look to finish off the year with better performances against Rutgers and Michigan State.

Dices up Terps defense
Allar was 25-for-34 passing for 240 yards and four touchdowns during Saturday's 51-15 victory versus Maryland. He also had four rushes for 39 yards.
ANALYSIS
Allar and the Nittany Lions' offense rolled through their opponent for the second week in a row. The sophomore signal-caller and receivers still didn't connect on many explosive passes; but, he capped off four long scoring drives with short touchdown passes, including drives of eight, eight, 12 and 13 plays. Allar's improved passing stat lines are encouraging following his season-worst performance against Ohio State's elite defense in Week 8. He'll now have to go up against another of the best defensive units in the nation when Penn State welcomes Michigan in Week 11.

Bounces back in near upset
Allar completed 20 of 31 passes for 210 yards, three touchdowns and one interception during Saturday's 33-24 victory over Indiana. He also had eight rushes for five yards.
ANALYSIS
Allar responded with one of their better offensive performances after showing little life against Ohio State last week. The sophomore quarterback logged one touchdown in the first half with a nine-yard pass to tight end Khalil Dinkins, as the Nittany Lions led just 17-14 at halftime. Allar continued to rely on his tight ends in the second half, hitting Theo Johnson for a 16-yard score in the third quarter. Penn State's passing offense has heavily relied on its tight ends this season, as top Johnson, Dinkins and Warren have accounted for 10 of the team's 19 receiving touchdowns this season. However, Allar finally found success going deep when he hit top wideout KeAndre Lambert-Smith for a 57-yard touchdown to go up 31-24. This marked the team's second reception of 40-plus yards this season. Allar and the Nittany Lions will look for some more explosiveness against Maryland in Week 10.

Scores late TD in loss
Allar completed 18 of 42 passes for 191 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 20-12 defeat against Ohio State. He also had seven rushes for -23 yards.
ANALYSIS
Allar and the Nittany Lions offense was nearly shut out aside from two field-goal conversions, but the sophomore signal-caller managed to lead a late touchdown drive with his team down 20-6 late in the fourth quarter. This was certainly the worst performance of Allar's young career, as he logged a season low in completion percentage (42.9 percent) while also netting negative rushing yards for the first time this year. Allar was not solely responsible for the struggles of Penn State's offense, as the team's wideouts once again failed to gain much, if any, separation from the opposing defensive backs. While Allar still has not committed a turnover this season, he's only averaging 206.4 passing yards per game. Penn State's capped passing offense will likely continue to limit his fantasy value moving forward. That being said, the Week 9 matchup against Indiana could yield a big bounce-back spot for Allar and the entire Nittany Lions team.

Tallies four scores in big win
Allar completed 16 of 23 passes for 162 yards and three touchdowns during Saturday's 63-0 victory against Massachusetts. He also had three rushes for one yard with one touchdown.
ANALYSIS
Allar and the Nittany Lions rolled just as expected over the Minutemen, as the quarterback logged four total touchdowns for the second time this season. The sophomore starter's longest completion came on a wide-open touchdown pass over the middle that allowed tight end Theo Johnson to walk into the end zone for a touchdown. Allar still has yet to really air it out this season, as he's now averaged just 6.9 yards per attempt this season. His above-average passing efficiency (65.2) is encouraging, but he'll likely need to have the best game of his young career during the upcoming matchup against Ohio State.

Sloppy outing at Ryan Field
Allar was 18-for-33 passing for 189 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 41-13 win over Northwestern. He also had eight rushes for four yards with one touchdown.
ANALYSIS
Allar bounced back after he went just 8-for-14 for 91 yards in the first half. The sophomore signal-caller opened the second half with a rushing touchdown from the one-year line followed by a two-yard passing touchdown to running back Nicholas Singleton near the end of the third quarter. Allar's performance against Northwestern was far from the impressive, virtuoso outing that Penn State fans have been looking for out of their young quarterback, who has been somewhat up-and-down with a 64.6 completion percentage and merely 6.9 yards per attempt so far this season. However, he's now totaled 11 touchdowns through five starts, and the team's wide receiver corps seems like it has yet to truly find its footing this season. Allar should have a chance to put up some more notable numbers when Penn State takes on Massachusetts following its bye Week 6.

Scores four TDs in rout
Allar completed 25 of 37 passes for 166 yards and four touchdowns during Saturday's 31-0 win against Iowa. He also had eight rushes for 22 yards.
ANALYSIS
Allar doubled his touchdown passes this season during this outing, hitting tight end Tyler Warren twice in the third quarter to go along with red-zone completions to Khalil Dinkins and KeAndre Lambert-Smith in the second and fourth quarters, respectively. All four of these touchdown passes traveled less than 10 yards through the air, as the sophomore quarterback piloted numerous long scoring drives while playing in wet, rainy conditions Saturday night. Penn State also didn't need many over-the-top plays on offense since its defense forced four turnovers from Iowa's lifeless offense. Allar's 4.5 yards per attempt are not impressive, but his command of the offense combined with a strong connection with Lambert-Smith (right receptions, 66 yards) is an encouraging sign for his team's success heading into the remainder of Big Ten play.

Struggles in first conference game
Allar completed 16 of 33 passes for 208 yards during Saturday's 30-13 win against Illinois. He also had six rushes for 24 yards.
ANALYSIS
Allar showed his inexperience while facing the first true test of his young career. After completing 78 percent of his passes through the first two weeks of the season, the 6-foot-5 sophomore logged just one completion longer than 20 yards when he hooked up on a 33-yard connection with Liam Clifford, setting up a field-goal conversion for Penn State late in the second quarter. Allar was also not involved in the Nittany Lions' lone passing touchdown, as running back Trey Potts completed the 11-yard touchdown pass that put the team up 23-7 during the third quarter. Allar's youth combined with the lack of a true WR1 among his receiving corps appears like it could curb his passing production moving forward. He'll now face an arguably even tougher test this coming Saturday at home against Iowa.
Sep 12, 2023
Lighter workload in blowout
Allar was 22-for-26 passing for 204 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 63-7 win versus Delaware. He also had five rushes for 27 yards with one touchdown.
ANALYSIS
Allar and the Nittany Lions tore through the Blue Hens' defense, putting up 35 points in the first half. Therefore, it's not surprising that the team chose to pull their budding starting quarterback after he found the end zone for a one-yard rushing score to begin the second half. Allar has now gone 43-for-55 passing for 529 passing yards and four touchdowns to go along with one rushing score across two starts this season. So, far he's lived up to expectations, though Allar and Penn State will see some tougher competition over the next two weeks with a road game versus Illinois on Saturday followed by a primetime matchup versus Iowa in Happy Valley.

Lives up to expectations Week 1
Allar completed 21 of 29 passes for 325 yards and three touchdowns during Saturday's 38-15 victory against West Virginia.
ANALYSIS
Allar has been heralded as the quarterback capable of taking the Nittany Lions' offense to another level heading into his true sophomore campaign. The 6-foot-5 signal-caller fit the bill in his starting debut, as he showcased elite arm strength and throwing ability both in the pocket and while on the run. Penn State does boast one of the country's best running back duos with Nicholas Singleton and Kaytron Allen, and Allar isn't expected to make a significant impact in the running game himself. Yet, he seems primed to put up prolific numbers while passing to balanced, though somewhat unproven, receiving corps including returning wideouts KeAndre Lambert-Smith (four receptions, seven targets, 123 yards, two touchdowns) and Harrison Wallace (seven receptions, eight yards, 72 yards) along with transfers Malik McClain (four receptions, four targets, 58 yards, one touchdown) and Dante Cephas (one reception, two targets, 22 yards).
Sep 2, 2023
Officially starting opener
Allar will start the season opener versus West Virginia, Richard Scarcella of the Reading Eagle reports.
ANALYSIS
There was little doubt who would be under center for the first snap of the 2023 season for the Nittany Lions, but that is now officially the case. Allar is expected to lead a talented Penn State team that is viewed by many as a potential College Football Playoff candidate.
Nov 7, 2022
Two TD passes in relief
Allar was 9-for-12 passing for 75 yards and two touchdowns during Saturday's 45-14 victory over Indiana. He also added three rushes for 11 yards.
ANALYSIS
Allar took over under center with the Nittany Lions already up 31-7 midway through the third quarter. The talented freshman signal-caller went on to complete two passing touchdowns of one and four yards to fellow second-stringers Harrison Wallace III and Theo Johnson in the fourth quarter. Allar has now been inserted during garbage time in five of Penn State's last eight games, and he's unlikely to threaten sixth-year senior Sean Clifford for the team's starting job heading into this coming Saturday's contest versus Maryland.
Oct 16, 2022
Steps in during loss
Allar completed five of 10 passes for 37 yards during Saturday's 41-17 defeat against Penn State.
ANALYSIS
Allar entered during the fourth quarter after starting quarterback Sean Clifford exited with an undisclosed injury. As a result, the freshman signal-caller finished out the remainder of this blowout loss. Allar has now completed 17 of his 29 passes for 200 yards and a touchdown while largely playing in mop-up duties over five games this season, though he would be next in line to start if Clifford is unable to suit up for next week's home matchup with Minnesota.
