Houser announced he intends to enter the NCAA transfer portal, Pete Thamel of ESPN.com reports.

After two years with Michigan State, the redshirt freshman quarterback will look for a new opportunity at a different program. Houser completed 58.6 percent of his passes for 1,137 yards, six touchdowns and five interceptions this season.

Houser was 26-for-41 passing for 245 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions during Saturday's 24-21 victory against Indiana. He also had seven rushes for 11 yards.

Houser threw for three scores on the day, connecting with tight end Maliq Carr on a 36-yard strike with just over a minute to playto put the Spartans up for good. Despite turning the ball over twice, the redshirt freshman quarterback threw for a career-high 245 yards to go with his first career three-touchdown performance. Houser will look to build on this performance in the Spartans' season finale against Penn State on Friday.

Houser was 12-for-24 passing for 92 yards during Saturday's 38-3 loss to Ohio State. He also had seven rushes for six yards.

A tough Ohio State defense held Houser and the Michigan State offense in check all day, limiting the Spartans to under 200 total yards. Houser has thrown just one touchdown in his last four games, though an easier matchup against Indiana on Saturday will provide the redshirt freshman with an opportunity to turn things around.

Houser was observed taking starter reps during warmups for Saturday's game against Ohio State, Chris Solari of the Detroit Free Press reports.

According to reports, House was first in the quarterback rotation followed by Andrew Schorfhaar. The redshirt freshman should get the starting nod after finishing with 165 yards and one touchdown in last week's victory.

Houser was 13-for-20 passing for 165 yards and one touchdown during Saturday's 20-17 victory versus Nebraska. He also had 10 rushes for 13 yards.

Houser split snaps with true freshman quarterback Sam Leavitt, with each throwing a touchdown in Michigan State's win over Nebraska. Despite this share in snaps, Houser had the vast majority of pass attempts on the day, with Leavitt attempting just two throws. Houser's touchdown came on an 11-yard pass to Christian Fitzpatrick in the second quarter, giving the Spartans a 10-7 lead over the Cornhuskers. The Michigan State quarterback situation will certainly be one to monitor heading into a tough matchup against Ohio State.

Michigan state interim coach Harlon Barnett said Houser will start in Saturday's game versus Nebraska but will cede some snaps to Sam Leavitt, Chris Solari of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Houser completed 12-of-22 passes for 117 yards in last week's contest versus Minnesota. Due to his lackluster performances, Houser will split some snaps with Sam Leavitt.

The redshirt freshman quarterback has played at least 40 snaps in the last three games, completing 57.5 percent of his passes for 354 yards go along with two touchdowns and one interception. More news will surface in regards to who will get the starting job as the week progresses.

Houser unsurprisingly struggled in just his second start, as he faced one of college football's best defenses. The redshirt freshman showed encouraging signs in his first start of the season when he totaled three touchdowns (two through the air and one on the ground) against a solid Rutgers defense in Week 7. Houser and the Spartans' entire offense will look to bounce back on the road at Minnesota this coming Saturday.

Houser was 18-for-29 passing for 133 yards and two touchdowns during Saturday's 27-24 loss versus Rutgers. He also had eight rushes for 27 yards with one touchdown.

Houser performed well during his starting debut. The redshirt freshman wasn't asked to do much as a passer, averaging just 4.6 yards per attempt, but he did cap off two well-managed scoring drives with touchdown passes of 13 and four yards in the first and third quarters, respectively. Houser also provided added benefit with his legs, including a 12-yard touchdown run for his longest carry of the day. Houser's three incompletions on his final four passes of the game did contribute to Michigan State blowing a 24-6 lead in the second half. Nevertheless, Houser's all-around encouraging debut should keep him in as the starting quarterback for what will be a difficult matchup versus the in-state rival Wolverines this coming Saturday.

The freshman is in line to make his first career start for Michigan State as they take on Rutgers on Saturday. Houser has seen limited playing time, but has logged 158 passing yards and one interception in four game appearances this season.

Noah Kim will start at quarterback against Central Michigan on Friday, Matt Charboneau of The Detroit News reports.

With Kim announced as Michigan State's starting quarterback, Houser is in line to be the team's backup. Houser completed 1-of-2 passes for 2 yards to go along with one rush for 13 yards in 2022.
