Catches TD in win
Smith accrued six carries for 19 yards and reeled in three of four targets for 31 yards and one touchdown during Friday's 45-21 victory against Temple.
ANALYSIS
Smith scored his first touchdown since Week 1 Friday, an 11-yard receiving touchdown in the first quarter. He also received six carries, his most in a game since Week 9. He is not likely to feature much in the Tigers' bowl game with Blake Watson's firm grasp on the backfield.

Leads backfield in win
Smith had 18 carries for 115 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday's 56-14 win over Bethune Cookman. He also caught two passes for three yards.
ANALYSIS
Smith led the Tigers' backfield Saturday with Jevyon Ducker (undisclosed) unable to go. Smith played quite well, rushing for over 100 yards and scoring twice. Ducker may return next week, so it will be interesting to see what share of the backfield Smith has when he does.

Listed as co-starter for season opener
Smith has been listed as a co-starter for Saturday's season opener against Bethune-Cookman, Frank Bonner II of The Daily Memphian reports.
ANALYSIS
Memphis has listed a trio of running backs as co-starters for Saturday's season opener, including Jeyvon Ducker, Smith and Blake Watson. Smith, a 5-foot-9 sophomore, appeared in nine games last season, totaling 29 carries for 135 yards and two touchdowns. Smith has also shown his ability to contribute in the passing game as well, tallying four receptions for 58 yards in 2022.

Scores in blowout win
Smith rushed seven times for 55 yards and a touchdown and caught one pass for 14 yards in Saturday's 59-0 win over North Alabama.
ANALYSIS
Smith had just 49 rushing yards heading into Saturday's game, but was given a larger role versus the subpar FCS opponent. Smith set season highs in carries and yards and scored the first touchdown of his career Saturday. With Brandon Thomas out for the season, Smith may see a slight increase in his role, but still will have to compete for carries with Asa Martin and Jeyvon Ducker. While next Saturday's regular season finale at SMU is a good matchup for the Tigers' backfield, Smith's role remains uncertain.
