Alvin Kamara Injury News & Updates
Keep up with the latest injuries from the Saints vs Dolphins game on Sunday with our National Football League injury report.Nov 23, 2025
Getting MRI on knee
Kamara (knee) is getting an MRI on the injury he suffered during Sunday's 24-10 loss to the Falcons, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara has produced at least 1,160 scrimmage yards in each of his first eight NFL regular seasons, but that streak of 1,000-yard campaigns would be in jeopardy if the MRI results reveal an injury significant enough to warrant Kamara missing additional action. Rookie sixth-round pick Devin Neal took over as the Saints' lead back after Kamara got hurt, and Neal would presumably lead New Orleans' backfield in Week 13 at Miami if Kamara isn't available.

Ruled out Sunday
Kamara (knee) has been ruled out of Sunday's contest against the Falcons.
ANALYSIS
Kamara endured an awkward tackle in the first half that required multiple visits to the sideline tent before he went to the locker room. He'll finish Week 12 action with five touches for 15 yards from scrimmage and no TDs. Devin Neal will assume No. 1 RB duties from Kamara, but do-it-all Taysom Hill also is on hand for carries out of certain formations.
Nov 23, 2025
Hurts knee Sunday
Kamara sustained a knee injury during Sunday's game versus the Falcons.
ANALYSIS
Kamara was twisted to the turf awkwardly on a tackle in the first half, after which he visited the medical tent multiple times before going to the locker room. He combined for five touches for 15 yards from scrimmage prior to his departure. Devin Neal will take over the No. 1 RB role for as long as Kamara is sidelined.

Leaves Sunday's game
Kamara (undisclosed) went to the locker room during Sunday's game against the Falcons, John Hendrix of AthlonSports.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara was twisted up on a tackle and went to the turf awkwardly in the first half. He visited the medical tent multiple times before leaving the Saints' sideline. At the time of his exit, he notched 11 yards on three carries and hauled in both of his targets for four yards. Devin Neal will step in for Kamara for as long as the latter is out of the contest.
Nov 23, 2025
Suiting up again in Week 12
Kamara (ankle) is active for Sunday's contest against the Falcons.
ANALYSIS
Kamara has been listed with an ankle injury on Saints practice reports since early October, but he suited up for each of the team's five games before a Week 11 bye, racking up 69 touches for 282 yards from scrimmage and no TDs during that span. He'll continue to operate as New Orleans' lead runner Sunday, though backup Devin Neal did notch 14 touches for 54 total yards over the last three outings.
Nov 22, 2025
Likely to suit up Sunday
Kamara (ankle), who is officially questionable for Sunday's Week 12 matchup against Atlanta, is expected to play, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara has been dealing with a lingering ankle issue since early October, but the issue hasn't yet cost him any time. Following New Orleans' Week 11 bye, Kamara logged a trio of limited practices this week and again seems likely to play Sunday. He should continue to lead the Saints' backfield, with rookie Devin Neal serving as the team's No. 2 running back.
Nov 21, 2025
Listed as questionable
Kamara (ankle) will be listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Falcons, Luke Johnson of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara's presence on injury reports has been a constant for New Orleans since he hurt his ankle during a practice in early October. A Week 11 bye apparently didn't change anything, with the Saints now listing Kamara as questionable for a third straight game. He's yet to actually miss a game this year, and he even took a season-high 22 carries his last time out, finishing with 115 total yards on 25 touches in the Week 10 win over Carolina.
Nov 20, 2025
Reps capped Thursday
Kamara (ankle) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara hasn't been a full participant in practice since Week 7 and has carried questionable tags into the past two contests, but he has yet to miss a game this season. Even if he remains limited in Friday's session and is listed as questionable heading into Sunday's game against the Falcons, Kamara should still have a strong chance at suiting up this weekend and leading the New Orleans ground attack.
Nov 19, 2025
Still managing practice workload
Kamara (ankle) was a limited practice participant Wednesday, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara injured his ankle during practice Oct. 8 and has been listed on injury reports ever since. Any limitations are likely just a matter of maintenance, with Kamara presumably on track for his usual role after a Week 11 bye. Blowout losses have limited his rush attempts a number of times this season, but that's less likely to be a problem this week against the injury-riddled Falcons.
Nov 9, 2025
Tops 100 scrimmage yards Sunday
Kamara carried the ball 22 times for 83 yards and caught all three of his targets for 32 yards in Sunday's 17-7 win over the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
The veteran RB topped 100 scrimmage yards for the first time since Week 2, snapping a string of five straight games in which he didn't even reach 40 rushing yards. Kamara is still looking for his first TD since Week 1, but it was still an encouraging sign, as was the fact that rookie quarterback Tyler Shough got the passing game going. Kamara will get a breather during next week's bye before taking on the Falcons in Week 12.
Nov 9, 2025
Active in Week 10
Kamara (ankle) is listed as active Sunday at Carolina.
ANALYSIS
Kamara has toughed out an ankle injury for more than a month at this point, but despite being available for each of the last four games, he turned 44 touches into just 167 yards from scrimmage and no TDs, while his snap share ranged from 51 to 84 percent during that span. Since Devin Neal took over the No. 2 RB role from Kendre Miller (torn ACL) as of Week 8, the former has only seven touches for 23 total yards in two contests, so Kamara remains the top option out of the Saints backfield.
Nov 7, 2025
Listed as questionable
Kamara (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game at Carolina, Nate Atkins of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara has been listed with an ankle injury for the past month and still hasn't missed a game, including last week when he was listed as questionable. Fantasy managers will still want to keep an eye on the situation, with Devin Neal and Audric Estime being the alternatives in the New Orleans backfield.
Nov 6, 2025
Another limited session
Kamara (ankle) was limited at practice Thursday, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
For a fifth week in a row, Kamara is dealing with an ankle injury in advance of a game. In the previous four appearances, he's totaled 167 yards from scrimmage and no TDs on 44 touches. In the end, Friday's practice report will reveal whether or not Kamara enters the weekend with a designation for Sunday's contest at Carolina.
Nov 5, 2025
Remains limited by ankle injury
Kamara (ankle) practiced in a limited fashion Wednesday, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara has been playing through an ankle injury the last four games, a stretch in which he's mustered just 167 yards from scrimmage and no TDs on 44 touches. With Kendre Miller out for the season due to a torn ACL, rookie sixth-rounder Devin Neal has taken over the No. 2 role the past two contests but managed only 23 total yards and no scores on seven touches himself. There's no indication Kamara is in danger of sitting out Sunday in Carolina or even losing his grip on the top backfield job in New Orleans, but the going has been rough for him and the rest of the Saints offense of late.
Nov 2, 2025
Totals 17 yards in loss
Kamara totaled six carries for 14 yards and caught 1 of 3 targets for three yards during Sunday's 34-10 defeat to the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Kamara was completely stonewalled and had a season low in yards while also tying his season low for carries in a game. Instead, Taysom Hill led the team with 30 rushing yards on four carries. The ninth-year running back also fumbled with his final carry of the game in the fourth quarter. Kamara didn't see an uptick in usage even with rookie quarterback Tyler Shough making his first career start, as the Rams dominated the Saints in time of possession 43:53-16:07. Over the last five games, Kamara has now averaged 8.2 carries for 24.2 yards. He also hasn't scored a touchdown since Week 1. Kamara's production is well below his reputation as a bell-cow back in fantasy, and his lack of explosiveness and limited production will likely continue to limit his output going forward. The Saints next face off with the Panthers in Week 10 on Sunday.
Nov 2, 2025
Active Sunday
Kamara (ankle) is active for Sunday's game at the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Kamara has been playing through an ankle injury the last two contests and was listed as questionable for Week 9 after logging three limited practices. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported late Saturday that Kamara was in line to suit up Sunday, and the Saints have confirmed as much upon posting its inactive list. Kamara has mustered 74 yards from scrimmage and no TDs on 22 touches during the aforementioned two-game stretch and now will be working with new starting signal-caller Tyler Shough instead of Spencer Rattler moving forward.
Nov 2, 2025
In line to suit up Sunday
Kamara (ankle), who is questionable for Sunday's Week 9 matchup against the Rams, is expected to play, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara again dealt with an ankle injury throughout the week and logged a trio of limited practices. Saints coach Kellen Moore said Friday that the star running back was trending in the right direction, and it now appears likely that Kamara will suit up. However, he logged a season-low 51 percent snap share last Sunday while managing the same nagging ankle issue, so it remains to be seen if he'll have a full workload even if he does play.
Oct 31, 2025
Questionable but trending up
Kamara (ankle) is officially questionable for Sunday's game at the Rams, but Saints coach Kellen Moore said Friday that the running back is trending in the right direction, WWLAM's Jeff Nowak reports.
ANALYSIS
Moore said the same of WR Rashid Shaheed (hip) and CB Alontae Taylor (shoulder), with all three getting 'questionable' designations after limited practice participation this week. Any setbacks for Kamara would lead to more work for Devin Neal, who is alo listed with an ankle injury but seemingly on track to play.
Oct 30, 2025
Limited again Thursday
Kamara (ankle) was limited in practice Thursday, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara has played through the ankle issue the last two games, combining for 17 carries for 49 yards, five catches (on five targets) for 25 yards and no touchdowns. He avoided an injury designation in advance of both contests, so Friday's injury report may clear him for action yet again. Assuming he's available Sunday at the Rams, Kamara will be working with rookie QB Tyler Shough, who is taking over for Spencer Rattler moving forward.
Oct 29, 2025
Stays limited in practice
Kamara (ankle) practiced in a limited fashion Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
The same can be said for the only other RB on the Saints' active roster, Devin Neal, who also is tending to an ankle injury. On a positive note, both players were able to log some on-field work Wednesday and have two more chances to get back to full before the team potentially tags them with designations ahead of Sunday's game at the Rams. Kamara managed 45 yards from scrimmage on a season-low eight touches this past Sunday against the Buccaneers, while Neal didn't earn a carry and hauled in all three targets for 11 yards.
Oct 26, 2025
Held to 45 yards on eight touches
Kamara gained 21 yards on six carries and caught both of his targets for 24 yards in Sunday's 23-3 loss to Tampa Bay.
ANALYSIS
With Kendre Miller (knee) being placed on injured reserve this week, Kamara finished Sunday's contest as the only Saints' RB to record a carry. Unfortunately that did not lead to a fruitful fantasy day after New Orleans abandoned the run early, passing 51 times compared to 15 rush attempts in the one-sided loss. Kamara's lack of involvement in the passing game has been concerning through eight weeks, as he is currently on pace to finish with a career-worst 306 receiving yards. Starting QB Spencer Rattler was benched in the second half of Sunday's loss, so a potential change under center could help unlock Kamara as a receiver against the Rams in Week 9.
Oct 24, 2025
Good to go
Kamara (ankle) won't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against Tampa Bay, Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara played through the same injury the past two weeks, including taking on a season-high 84 percent share when Kendre Miller suffered an ACL tear in the loss at Chicago last Sunday. Devin Neal could get more work with time to prepare for the No. 2 role, but it's also possible Kamara is tasked with some of the snaps and touches that went to Miller in recent weeks.
Oct 23, 2025
Still limited Thursday
Kamara (ankle) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
The Saints are managing Kamara's practice reps for the third week in a row while he tends to a lingering ankle issue, but the injury isn't expected to prevent him from playing Sunday versus the Buccaneers. After top backup Kendre Miller (knee) sustained a season-ending ACL tear in last week's loss to the Bears, Kamara ended up handling a season-high 84 percent snap share, though he was limited to 28 yards on 11 carries and one yard on three receptions. Rookie Devin Neal is expected to replace Miller in the No. 2 role this weekend and may not represent as formidable of competition as Miller, but Kamara's efficiency could be a regular concern all season due to subpar quarterback play as well as a below-average offensive line that recently lost standout center Erik McCoy to a season-ending biceps injury.
Oct 22, 2025
Limited in practice
Kamara (ankle) was a limited practice participant Wednesday, Luke Johnson of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
It's an improvement from last week when Kamara also was listed with an ankle injury and started off as a non-participant. He ended up being cleared to play on the Friday injury report, and went on to handle a season-high 84 percent snap share when fellow running back Kendre Miller suffered an ACL tear in the first half. It is possible rookie Devin Neal will have more of a role this Sunday against Tampa Bay, with more time to prepare for the No. 2 RB job.
Oct 19, 2025
Modest numbers in Week 7 loss
Kamara rushed 11 times for 28 yards and brought in all three targets for one yard in the Saints' 26-14 loss to the Bears on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Kamara was stymied on the ground by a Bears defense that had been vulnerable against the run, and he uncharacteristically did next to nothing with his three catches. The versatile veteran has been held to 31 rushing yards or fewer in three straight games and hasn't recorded a rushing touchdown since Week 1, leaving his fantasy outlook bleak as a Week 8 home matchup against a tough Buccaneers run defense awaits next Sunday afternoon.
Oct 17, 2025
Cleared to face Bears
Kamara (ankle) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game at Chicago, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara even progressed to full practice participation Friday, setting him up for this usual workload come Sunday, although Kendre Miller has gotten more involved in recent weeks for reasons seemingly unrelated to Kamara's health. The 30-year-old RB took 62 percent of snaps in last week's loss to New England, with 15 touches for 76 total yards.
Oct 16, 2025
Officially limited Thursday
Kamara (ankle) practiced in a limited fashion Thursday, Luke Johnson of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Coach Kellen Moore described Kamara's absence from Wednesday's session as a maintenance plan as Kamara deals with the ankle injury that he sustained Week 5 against the Giants, according to Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com. Now that he's mixed back into some drills, Kamara is trending in the right direction, but it remains to be seen if he'll be able to avoid a designation ahead of Sunday's game at Chicago.
Oct 16, 2025
Present at practice Thursday
Kamara (ankle) is present for the early portion of Thursday's practice open to the media, Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara missed practice Wednesday due to an ankle injury, the same issue that he played through in Week 6 after having logged three consecutive limited practice sessions. Coach Kellen Moore has stated that the veteran running back will be on a maintenance plan to manage the injury. To see Kamara back on the field Thursday, even if he only logs limited reps, bodes well for his chances of taking the field for Sunday's road matchup against the Bears, but he'll likely carry an injury designation into the weekend unless he's able to resume practicing in full.
Oct 15, 2025
Doesn't practice Wednesday
Kamara (ankle) didn't practice Wednesday, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara was limited in practice all of last week due to an ankle issue but still suited up this past Sunday against the Patriots, handling 62 percent of the snaps and turning 15 touches into 76 yards from scrimmage in that contest. Coach Kellen Moore told Terrell that Kamara will be on a maintenance plan for the injury for the time being, and the fact that the running back was a DNP to begin Week 7 prep doesn't mean the concern got worse, as Moore relayed to Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football. Ultimately, Kamara may need to practice fully by Friday in order to enter the weekend without a designation for Sunday's game in Chicago.
Oct 12, 2025
Tops 70 scrimmage yards in loss
Kamara carried the ball 10 times for 31 yards and caught all five of his targets for 45 yards in Sunday's 25-19 loss to the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
After dealing with an ankle injury during the week in practice, Kamara didn't seem particularly bothered by the issue as he saw at least 15 touches for the fourth time in the last five games, and produced 70-plus scrimmage yards for the third time in that span. Kamara has 314 rushing yards and a 22-122-0 receiving line on 26 targets through six contests, but a Week 1 rushing TD has been his only trip to the end zone so far. He'll look to end his scoring drought in Week 7 against the Bears.
Oct 12, 2025
Ready to go for Week 6
Kamara (ankle) is active for Sunday's game against the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
A limited participant in practice throughout the week due to the ankle injury, Kamara took a questionable tag into the weekend but never seemed at major risk of missing Sunday's contest. Now that he's confirmed as available for the Week 6 contest, Kamara should continue in his usual role as the Saints' lead option out of the backfield. Though Kamara's name has popped up in trade rumors as the 1-4 Saints navigate what looks to be a rebuilding season, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported Saturday that the 30-year-old back told general manager Mickey Loomis that he would like to remain with the franchise for the duration of his career. The Saints are expected to honor Kamara's request and hold on to him ahead of the Nov. 4 trade deadline, even though multiple contending teams would likely be in the market for his services.
Oct 11, 2025
In line to play Sunday
Kamara (ankle), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Patriots, is expected to play, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara told Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune that he injured his ankle last Sunday versus the Giants, which left him limited in practice Wednesday through Friday and questionable for Week 6 action. Ultimately, Kamara's status for Sunday's contest will be confirmed about 90 minutes before a 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff, but even if he's active, there's a chance he cedes some snaps to his primary backup Kendre Miller.
Oct 10, 2025
Listed as questionable
Kamara (ankle) is questionable for Sunday's game against New England, Ross Jackson of WWL Louisiana reports.
ANALYSIS
Early reports suggested Kamara hurt his ankle during Wednesday's practice, but he clarified Thursday that the injury initially occurred during a win over the Giants on Sunday. That may also explain why Kendre Miller took on so much of the rushing workload, especially late in the game. This week, Kamara was a limited practice participant Wednesday through Friday, with Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football suggesting that the veteran RB is on track to play. There is some risk that Kamara's workload looks more like Week 5 than Weeks 1-4, but he'll presumably still start if he's declared active ahead of the 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff.
Oct 9, 2025
Remains limited in practice
Kamara (ankle) practiced in a limited fashion Thursday, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Initial reports indicated Kamara hurt his ankle at Wednesday's practice, but he clarified Thursday that he's "feeling good" and actually suffered the injury this past Sunday against the Giants, per Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune. In the Week 5 win, Kamara logged season lows in offensive snap share (56 percent) and touches (12) on his way to just 55 yards from scrimmage. Ultimately, Friday's practice report will unveil whether or not he enters the weekend with a designation for Sunday's game versus the Patriots.
Oct 9, 2025
Seen at practice Thursday
Kamara (ankle) was present at practice Thursday, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The Saints had a scare at Wednesday's session when Kamara injured his ankle and went down as a limited participant. It's unclear if he maintained that activity level or upgraded to full, but Thursday's practice report will reveal that info. Kendre Miller is on hand in the event Kamara is at all inhibited Sunday against the Patriots.
Oct 8, 2025
Injures ankle at practice
Coach Kellen Moore said Kamara hurt his ankle in practice Wednesday, Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football, Kamara officially was limited Wednesday, and Moore added that it's a "little something." Kamara's status thus bears watching as the week goes on to get a sense of his odds to suit up Sunday against the Patriots. If Kamara is inhibited or sidelined this weekend, Kendre Miller would take on an expanded role in the Saints offense.
Oct 5, 2025
Held in check in Week 5
Kamara carried the ball eight times for 27 yards and caught four of six targets for 28 yards in Sunday's 26-14 win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
The 55 scrimmage yards were a season low for Kamara, but it's the third time in five games to begin the season that he's failed to reach 60. The veteran back is struggling to make an impact, as defenses haven't had much reason to fear the Saints' passing attack, but they could begin to loosen up for Kamara after QB Spencer Rattler hit Rashid Shaheed for an 87-yard TD in Sunday's win. Kamara will try to rebound in Week 6 against the Patriots.
Sep 28, 2025
Logs moderate outing Week 4
Kamara tallied 15 rushes for 70 yards and gathered in four of five targets for two yards during Sunday's 31-19 loss against the Bills.
ANALYSIS
Kamara had his second-most productive rushing output of the season and averaged over 4.2 yards per carry for the second time this year. The 30-year-old had been shouldering the bulk of the rushing workload with 50 of the team's 79 carries over the first three games, but RB2 Kendre Miller closed the gap with a season-high 11 rushing attempts for 65 yards Sunday. This may have been part of the Saints' offensive gameplan, as the team logged more rushing attempts (34) than passing attempts (28) for the first time this season. Kamara will look to record his first 100-yard rushing performance of the season next week, facing a Giants defense that's allowed a league-worst 6.1 yards per carry through 4 weeks.
Sep 21, 2025
Stymied in blowout loss
Kamara rushed 18 times for 42 yards and caught one of two targets for 14 yards in Sunday's 44-13 loss to the Seahawks.
ANALYSIS
Kamara was stifled by Seattle's defensive front from the get go, resulting in the tailback's worst per-carry average (2.3 YPC) in a single game since Week 7 against the Broncos last season (1.4 YPC). It was surprising to see the 29-year-old used so sparsely as a receiver in such a lopsided loss; perhaps the 38-6 deficit at halftime sucked the competitiveness from New Orleans' sideline. Kamara remains the focal point of a struggling Saints offense despite posting his first dud through three weeks. Fantasy managers can expect heavy involvement from the dual-threat RB in a tough road matchup against Buffalo next Sunday.
Sep 14, 2025
Tops 100 scrimmage yards in loss
Kamara carried the ball 21 times for 99 yards and caught all six of his targets for 21 yards in Sunday's 26-21 loss to the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
After needing a touchdown to salvage his Week 1 performance, Kamara topped 100 scrimmage yards for the first time in 2025 in Week 2. The veteran RB needed volume to get though, as his longest run went for only 15 yards. Kamara remains the centerpiece of the Saints' offense under new head coach Kellen Moore, and he could have a big day through the air in Week 3 against a Seahawks defense that has given up 159 combined receiving yards to the Steelers' Jaylen Warren and the 49ers' Christian McCaffrey to begin the season.
Sep 7, 2025
Gets into end zone against Cards
Kamara carried the ball 11 times for 45 yards and a touchdown and caught both his targets for 12 yards in Sunday's 20-13 loss to Arizona.
ANALYSIS
The veteran RB showed he had plenty of juice left in the tank on the Saints' only TD of the game, an 18-yard scamper early in the second quarter, but Kamara otherwise didn't find much running room. Kellen Moore's new offense leaned heavily on the passing game as Spencer Rattler attempted a career-high 46 passes, but that may not be a detriment to Kamara's production given his proven ability as a receiver. He'll look to make an impact again at home in Week 2 against the 49ers.
Sep 3, 2025
Set for workhorse role again
Saints coach Kellen Moore said Wednesday that Kamara will take most of the team's carries, with other running backs ready to step up when there's a chance, Erin Summers of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
It's what fantasy managers want to hear four days before the season opener, even if there's nothing surprising or unexpected about Moore's quot. Kendre Miller won the No. 2 RB job this summer, but he didn't necessarily do enough to earn a big Week 1 role, more or less defaulting into his depth chart spot after rookie Devin Neal missed much of the summer with a hamstring injury. Miller and Neal could get more involved as the season progresses, but Kamara figures to take well over half of the snaps and touches this Sunday against San Francisco.
Aug 23, 2025
Makes it through preseason healthy
Kamara concluded the preseason without making an appearance.
ANALYSIS
Fantasy managers are just fine with that, after Kamara made it through training camp without any report of injury troubles or missed time. The Saints used some of their other starters in multiple preseason games, which allowed RB Kendre Miller to get a bunch of first-team work. Miller thus stands as the favorite to enter Week 1 against Arizona as Kamara's top backup, although it's a fluid situation, with rookie Devin Neal just recently coming back from a hamstring injury and Clyde Edwards-Helaire perhaps competing for a small role.
Aug 17, 2025
Won't play vs. Jacksonville
Kamara is no longer in uniform and is not in line to play in Sunday's preseason game against the Jaguars, Erin Summers of the Saints' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
It's the second week in a row that Kamara was suited up for pre-game warmups but did not participate in the team portion. With Kamara and Devin Neal (hamstring) sidelined, the Saints' backfield will be led by Kendre Miller, Cam Akers and Clyde Edwards-Helaire. Kamara's last chance to see preseason action will be Saturday against the Broncos.
Aug 17, 2025
Could play against Jacksonville
Kamara is in uniform and participating in pre-game warmups ahead of Sunday's preseason game against the Jaguars, Ross Jackson of WWL Louisiana reports.
ANALYSIS
Jackson notes that Kamara also suited up prior to the Saints' preseason opener against the Chargers but didn't end up playing. Even if Kamara does play, he'll likely be limited to one or two offensive series, leaving the bulk of the backfield snaps to Kendre Miller, Cam Akers and Clyde Edwards-Helaire.
Aug 5, 2025
Won't play Sunday
Saints coach Kellen Moore said Tuesday that Kamara will not suit up for Sunday's preseason opener against the Chargers, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara has enjoyed a clean bill of health throughout training camp, but it's no surprise to see New Orleans' take a cautious approach to starting running back's preseason participation. Moore said the rest of the Saints' running backs will suit up versus Los Angeles, though, so the preseason opener could shed some light on the Saints' backfield pecking order behind Kamara. Rookie sixth-rounder Devin Neal (hamstring) seems likely to sit out Sunday, but all of Kendre Miller, Cam Akers and Clyde Edwards-Helaire will get a chance to flash.
Jun 10, 2025
Back on the field
Kamara (groin) participated in Tuesday's minicamp practice.
ANALYSIS
Kamara, who missed the last three games of the 2024 regular season with a groin injury, hadn't been participating in the Saints' voluntary workouts this offseason, but his activity during Tuesday's mandatory minicamp session demonstrates that he's moved past the issue. While there's no doubt that Kamara slots in as the team's No. 1 back as the coming campaign approaches, it remains to be seen how the rest of the New Orleans backfield depth chart will shake out prior to Week 1. For now, the top candidates for complementary work behind Kamara (who recorded 228 carries and 68 catches in 14 contests last year) are Kendre Miller, Devin Neal and Clyde Edwards-Helaire.
Jun 5, 2025
Not at voluntary OTAs
Kamara (groin) hasn't been participating in the Saints' voluntary workouts this offseason, Matthew Paras of the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara missed the last three games of the 2024 regular season with a groin injury, but he's presumably past the issue, a notion that will be confirmed when he next takes the field with his teammates, which may arrive when the Saints hold their mandatory minicamp June 10-12. When available, Kamara remains entrenched as the team's No. 1 back, but Paras suggests that the backfield pecking order behind that isn't settled. In the running for slotting behind Kamara are Kendre Miller, Devin Neal and Clyde Edwards-Helaire, while Velus Jones, Xazavian Valladay and Marcus Yarns are also in the depth mix for now.
Jan 5, 2025
Inactive as expected Sunday
Kamara (groin) is inactive for Sunday's Week 18 matchup against the Buccaneers, the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara was fully expected to miss his third consecutive game to close out the season Sunday, and that is now official. In the star running back's absence -- and that of Kendre Miller (concussion) -- versus Tampa Bay, Clyde Edwards-Helaire, who gained 30 yards on seven touches in his Week 17 team debut and was promoted from the practice squad Saturday, could serve as the de facto lead back while Jamaal Williams and Jordan Mims rotate in for complementary snaps.

Doubtful for Sunday
Kamara (groin) is doubtful for Sunday's game at Tampa Bay, Jeff Nowak of WWLAM FM reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara didn't practice this week, but coach Darren Rizzi said the running back will go through a workout Saturday morning to give him once last chance to prove he's healthy enough to play. Kamara mentioned wanting to play earlier this week, and he's just 50 yards away from the first 1,000-yard rushing season of his career. As much as he'd like to play, it sounds like his injury situation isn't cooperating.
Jan 3, 2025
Not practicing
Kamara (groin) doesn't appear to be practicing Friday, Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara reportedly wants to play and is just 50 yards away from his first 1,000-yard rushing season, but it seems his groin isn't cooperating and he'll likely miss another game. Kendre Miller (concussion) was also missing from the start of Friday's practice, likely leaving the Saints backfield in the hands of Jamaal Williams, Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Jordan Mims for Sunday's season finale against Tampa Bay.

DNP on Thursday
Kamara (groin) was held out of Thursday's practice, Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
The same can be said for reserve RB Kendre Miller (concussion), giving the pair just one more opportunity to mix into drills before the Saints potentially make a ruling on their statuses ahead of Sunday's season finale at Tampa Bay. Kamara hasn't taken part in any drills since suffering an adductor injury Week 15 against the Commanders, thereby threatening a third consecutive absence to end the campaign. Jamaal Williams, Jordan Mims and practice-squad member Clyde Edwards-Helaire will be the candidates to man New Orleans' backfield Week 18 if that comes to pass.
Jan 1, 2025
No practice Wednesday
Kamara (groin) didn't practice Wednesday, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara has yet to take part in drills since sustaining an adductor injury Week 15 against the Commanders. With Kendre Miller in the concussion protocol, Jamaal Williams, Jordan Mims and practice-squad member Clyde Edwards-Helaire are the healthy running backs available for the Saints. Kamara will have two more chances this week to get back on the practice field before the team potentially makes a ruling on his status for Sunday's season finale at Tampa Bay.
Dec 30, 2024
Week 18 status up to medical staff
Kamara (groin) wants to play Sunday versus Tampa Bay, but that decision will be left up to the Saints' medical staff, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara has sat out each of New Orleans' past two games due to an adductor injury. The star running back didn't practice at all last week, and he'd almost certainly have to return in at least a limited capacity this week in order to have any chance of suiting up Sunday. Kendre Miller is currently in concussion protocol, so Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Jamaal Williams and Jordan Mims could form the Saints' backfield in Week 18 if neither Kamara nor Miller is able to play.
Dec 27, 2024
Out for Week 17
Kamara (groin) has been ruled out for Sunday's contest against the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
Kamara wasn't able to practice this week due to an adductor injury and thus will miss a second consecutive game. Without Kamara's services Monday at Green Bay, Jordan Mims actually led the Saints backfield in snap share (45 percent) to Kendre Miller's 39 percent and Jamaal Williams' 18 percent. However, Miller's 10 touches went for 31 yards, Mims' nine touches equated to 32 yards, and Williams' three carries resulted in eight yards. Kamara has one more chance Week 18 at Tampa Bay to make an appearance this season.
Dec 26, 2024
No practice Thursday
Kamara (groin) didn't practice Thursday, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara has been held out of all drills since sustaining an adductor injury Week 15 against the Commanders, but interim coach Darren Rizzi told John Hendrix of SI.com on Thursday that the running back was in the midst of rehab and in "good spirits." Such comments don't exactly shed light on Kamara's prospects for Sunday's game versus the Raiders, but Friday's practice report may provide some clarity on that front. Kendre Miller, Jamaal Williams and Jordan Mims are on hand in the event Kamara requires another absence this weekend.
Dec 25, 2024
DNP on Wednesday's estimate
Kamara (groin) was estimated as a non-participant on Wednesday's practice report.
ANALYSIS
Kamara hasn't practiced since suffering an adductor injury during a Week 15 loss to the Commanders. Interim coach Darren Rizzi told Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football on Tuesday that Kamara will attempt to return this season, but it's unclear how much of a chance the running back has to play Sunday versus the Raiders. Kamara likely will need to mix into at least some drills Thursday and/or Friday to put himself on a path to do so. Kendre Miller, Jamaal Williams and Jordan Mims will man the backfield Week 17 if Kamara isn't able to.
Dec 24, 2024
Hopeful to play in Week 17
Saints interim head coach Darren Rizzi said Tuesday that Kamara (groin) is attempting to return this season and hasn't been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Raiders, Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Rizzi noted that Kamara met with him earlier Tuesday and let him know that he wants to suit up Sunday, though a decision on the running back's status isn't expected to be made until later in the week, after the Saints get a chance to see how he responds to practice work. While Kamara was sidelined for his first game of the season in Monday's 34-0 loss to the Packers, Kendre Miller stepped in as New Orleans' lead back but was limited to 31 total yards on 10 touches (eight carries, two receptions).
Dec 21, 2024
Won't play Monday
Interim coach Darren Rizzi said Saturday that Kamara (groin) has been ruled out for Monday's game at Green Bay, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
This comes as no surprise, as Kamara didn't practice during Week 16 prep following comments from Rizzi on Thursday that the running back wasn't likely to suit up. In Kamara's place, Kendre Miller is set to lead the Saints backfield Monday, with Jamaal Williams and Jordan Mims available for complementary reps. Kamara's next chance to play is Sunday, Dec. 29 against the Raiders.
Dec 20, 2024
Not practicing
Kamara (groin) isn't practicing Friday, Ross Jackson of WWL Louisiana reports.
ANALYSIS
Saints coach Darren Rizzi said Thursday that Kamara is unlikely to play Monday at Green Bay. Any form of practice participation this week would be a surprise, with the Saints preparing to have Kendre Miller and Jamaal Williams leading the way in the backfield.
Dec 19, 2024
Unlikely to play in Week 16
Interim coach Darren Rizzi said Thursday that Kamara (thigh) isn't likely to play Monday at Green Bay, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara exited this past Sunday's loss to the Commanders in the second half due to a groin issue and wasn't able to return. On Monday, Rizzi told Ross Jackson of WWL Louisiana that Kamara was dealing with an adductor injury. Rizzi's most recent comments indicate Kamara is poised to miss his first game of the season Monday, which would put Kendre Miller in a prime position out of the Saints backfield Week 16. Jamaal Williams and Jordan Mims are the other running backs on the active roster, while Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Xazavian Valladay are candidates to be elevated from the practice squad.
Dec 16, 2024
Nursing adductor injury
Saints interim head coach Darren Rizzi said Monday that Kamara (groin) has been diagnosed with an adductor injury after initial medical imaging results, Ross Jackson of WWL Louisiana reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara was forced out of New Orleans' 20-19 loss against Washington in Week 15 in the second half, and it's possible his groin injury could impact his availability for Monday night's road matchup against Green Bay on Dec. 23. If Kamara were to miss any time, second-year pro Kendre Miller and veteran Jamaal Williams would be positioned as the lead options in the Saints' backfield. Further details on Kamara's health may not be made available until later in Week 16, with New Orleans' first official practice scheduled to occur Thursday.
Dec 15, 2024
Hurts groin Sunday
Kamara sustained a groin injury during Sunday's contest against the Commanders.
ANALYSIS
Kamara brushed off an illness in order to suit up Week 15, but he paid a visit to the sideline tent in the second half before the Saints announced a new health concern for the running back. At the point of his departure, he had notched five carries for 12 yards and four catches (on five targets) for 58 yards and one touchdown. Kendre Miller likely will lead New Orleans' backfield in Kamara's stead, while veteran Jamaal Williams also is on hand for RB reps.
Dec 13, 2024
No injury designation
Kamara (illness) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Commanders, Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara returned to full practice participation Friday after an illness kept him out the previous two days. He shouldn't have any limitations come Sunday, but the Saints did get fellow running back Kendre Miller more involved in the offense during last week's win over the Giants, and they'll now be playing without starting quarterback Derek Carr (head/hand). Both developments negatively impact Kamara's fantasy projection, but he's still worth starting in most formats as the likely centerpiece of an injury-riddled offense.
Dec 13, 2024
Back at practice Friday
Kamara (illness) returned to practice Friday, Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara's return to practice after missing Wednesday and Thursday puts him on track to play Sunday against the Commanders. If Kamara is unable to go, the Saints could opt for an extended look at Kendre Miller out of the backfield. If Kamara does play, he'd figure to again be the centerpiece of the offense, with Jake Haener named as the starting QB.
Dec 12, 2024
Remains sidelined from practice
Kamara (illness) was a non-participant at Thursday's practice, Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara now has opened Week 15 prep with back-to-back absences due to an illness, giving him just one more chance to mix into drills before the weekend. Friday's injury report will reveal whether or not he's tagged with a designation for Sunday's game against the Commanders. Behind Kamara, Kendre Miller and Jamaal Williams are the next players up in the Saints backfield.
Dec 11, 2024
Dealing with illness
Kamara didn't practice Wednesday due to an illness, Luke Johnson of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
It's unclear if Kamara's ailment is something that may place him in danger of missing time, but his activity level Thursday and Friday likely will be telling for his potential to suit up Sunday against the Commanders. In two games since the Saints' Week 12 bye, he's tallied 49 touches for 198 yards from scrimmage and no TDs, so there would be plenty of work for Kendre Miller and Jamaal Williams if Kamara is inhibited or sidelined this weekend.
Dec 8, 2024
Salvages day through air
Kamara carried the ball 17 times for 44 yards and caught all five of his targets for 35 yards in Sunday's 14-11 win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
The game was a slog for both offenses, and Kamara's 44 rushing yards was his lowest total since Week 7. The star running back did catches at least four passes for the 10th straight game however, and his 64 receptions on the season leads all RBs, just ahead of De'Von Achane (63). Kamara is just 73 scrimmage yards short of reaching 1,500 for the fourth time in his career and the first time since 2020, and he needs 62 more rushing yards to hit 1,000 for the first time. He'll take aim at both marks in Week 15 against the Commanders.
Dec 1, 2024
Cracks century mark on 23 attempts
Kamara rushed for 112 yards on 23 carries while catching four of six targets for seven receiving yards in Sunday's 21-14 loss to the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Kamara churned out his third 100-plus yard rushing effort of the season on a healthy mark of 4.9 yards per carry. Inversely, the versatile back was held in check on all four of his receptions, leading to his worst performance as a receiver through 12 games. The 28-year-old's scoreless streak also reached six games, which has somewhat dampened the fantasy stud's value as the season chugs along. All that said, Kamara continues to provide strong fantasy numbers for a team that continues to drop in the standings. The same can be expected in a road tilt against the Giants next Sunday.
Nov 17, 2024
Takes back seat to Taysom
Kamara carried the ball 16 times for 67 yards and caught all four of his targets for 22 yards in Sunday's 35-14 win over the Browns.
ANALYSIS
The Saints' ground game dominated, but it wasn't Kamara leading the way as instead Taysom Hill erupted for 138 rushing yards and three TDs. It's the first time since Week 7 that Kamara hasn't reached 100 scrimmage yards, but his TD drought stands at five games. He'll get a chance to recharge his batteries during a Week 12 bye.
Nov 10, 2024
Tops 100 scrimmage yards in win
Kamara carried the ball 17 times for 55 yards and caught five of six targets for 54 yards in Sunday's 20-17 win over the Falcons.
ANALYSIS
While he had trouble breaking a big gain on the ground, Kamara led the Saints in receptions and targets on the day and reached 100 scrimmage yards for the third straight contest and the seventh time this season in 10 games. Over that three-game stretch, Kamara has churned out 277 rushing yards and 169 receiving yards, but he hasn't gotten into the end zone since Week 6. He'll look to end that scoring drought in Week 11 against the Browns.
Nov 3, 2024
Eclipses 200 total yards in loss
Kamara rushed 29 times for 155 yards and secured six of nine targets for 60 yards in the Saints' 23-22 loss to the Panthers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
With Jamaal Williams (groin) and Kendre Miller (IR, hamstring) unavailable, Kamara logged his heaviest workload of the season and made excellent use of the opportunity against a highly vulnerable defense. The versatile veteran was the Saints' leader in both rushing and receiving yards, with the former total a season high and latter tally partly the byproduct of Chris Olave exiting the game in the first quarter due to a concussion. Kamara now has at least five receptions in six consecutive games as well heading into a Week 10 home divisional matchup against the Falcons.
Nov 1, 2024
Ready for Week 9
Kamara (hand/rib) doesn't have a designation for Sunday's game at Carolina, John Hendrix of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara operated with a cap on his reps all week as he continues to tend to fractured ribs and a broken hand, but the health concerns won't stop him from being cleared ahead of a fifth consecutive contest. He's thus poised for his typical workload of 20.1 touches per game versus a Carolina defense that has allowed the most touchdowns (15) to opposing running backs in eight outings this season.
Oct 31, 2024
Another limited showing
Kamara (hand/rib) practiced on a limited basis Thursday, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara continues to be plagued by the fractured ribs he suffered Week 3 and a broken hand that he picked up Week 5. Still, he's remained the most reliable skill-position player for the Saints along the way, averaging 20.1 touches for 101.5 yards from scrimmage per game while scoring seven total TDs in eight contests. Friday's injury report will reveal whether Kamara goes into the weekend without a designation for a fifth week in a row.
Oct 30, 2024
Limited Wednesday
Kamara (hand/rib) was limited at Wednesday's practice, John Hendrix of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara has been tending to fractured ribs since Week 3 and a broken right hand Week 5, which have regularly resulted in a cap on his practice reps in the meantime. In six games during that span, he's racked up 522 yards from scrimmage and two rushing TDs on 119 touches, but he's averaged only 3.6 yards per carry and 6.5 yards per catch. Kamara has a pair of sessions remaining this week to get back to full participation or else potentially risking entering the weekend with a designation for Sunday's visit to the Panthers.
Oct 27, 2024
Shows some burst in loss
Kamara posted 10 carries for 67 yards and gathered in six of 11 targets for 55 yards during Sunday's 26-8 loss to the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Kamara added a spark to this listless Saints offense Week 8. The 29-year-old is still working his dealing with a broken hand suffered Week 5 and broken ribs suffered Week 3, but neither appeared to affect him as he logged three explosive plays Sunday. This included a team-long 37-yard reception on a screen pass and a 24-yard carry on which he fought through multiple defenders. Kamara still logged his second-fewest carries of any game this season, and he's now averaged 10.3 rushing attempts and 8.5 targets per game over the last four weeks. While his workload has taken a slight dip recently, Kamara should still play a significant role during next week's game versus the Panthers on Sunday, Nov. 3.
Oct 25, 2024
Cleared for Week 8
Kamara (hand/rib) doesn't have a designation for Sunday's game against the Chargers, Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara was a limited participant in each of the Saints' three practices this week while he managed a pair of injuries, but neither the broken right hand suffered back in Week 5 nor the broken ribs he suffered Week 3 will keep him from playing in Los Angeles. For the third straight week, Kamara will be joined in the backfield by quarterback Spencer Rattler rather than Derek Carr (oblique), who is listed as doubtful and is unlikely to play. In Rattler's first two starts under center, Kamara's efficiency has taken a big hit, with the running back carrying 20 times for 50 yards (2.5 average) and a touchdown to go with 11 catches for 38 yards (3.5 average) on 15 targets between losses to the Buccaneers and Broncos. In addition to the shaky quarterback play, Kamara's red-zone opportunities could take a hit with Taysom Hill (rib) set to return from a three-game absence to present the Saints with another option in short-yardage situations.
Oct 24, 2024
Limited again Thursday
Kamara (hand/rib) was limited at Thursday's practice, John Hendrix of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara continues to be plagued by a broken hand and rib fractures, which has resulted in back-to-back capped sessions to begin Week 8 prep. He'll thus have Friday's practice to get back to full participation or otherwise risk heading into the weekend with a designation for Sunday's contest at the Chargers. Assuming he's able to suit up, per usual, Kamara should be good for his usual 20.7 touches per game on the season.
Oct 23, 2024
Limited Wednesday
Kamara (hand/rib) was limited at practice Wednesday, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara told Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune on Wednesday that he's been playing through a broken hand the last two games and still is dealing with the broken ribs that he suffered Week 3 against the Eagles. In four outings since then, he's racked up 74 touches for 273 yards from scrimmage and two rushing TDs, displaying that he remains productive on a week-to-week basis. Kamara will have two more chances to get back to full participation this week or else possibly risk heading into Sunday's contest at the Chargers with a designation.
Oct 23, 2024
Playing through broken hand
Kamara said Wednesday that he played the past two games with a broken hand, Luke Johnson of Nola.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara still played three-fourths or more of the offensive snaps in non-blowout situations the past few weeks, with the only indication of a problem being his limited participation in practices. He signed a two-year extension with the Saints on Tuesday and thus seems unlikely to be traded even though he's a 29-year-old RB on a team that's lost five straight games.
Oct 22, 2024
Extending stay in Big Easy
Kamara and the Saints agreed on two-year, $24.5 million extension Tuesday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Days after Kamara took to X and shut down rumors he requested a trade, he doubled down on those sentiments via an extension. The dynamic back is now under contract with the Saints through 2026. The 2017 third-round pick recorded a career-low 694 rushing yards in 2023, but he has bounced back nicely through seven games this year. Kamara has already tallied 438 yards and six touchdowns on the ground, as well as 34 receptions on 43 targets for 252 yards and one touchdown.
Oct 18, 2024
Stymied in Week 7 loss
Kamara rushed seven times for 10 yards and brought in six of seven targets for 14 yards in the Saints' 33-10 loss to the Broncos on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Kamara appeared to fall victim to a perfect storm of unfavorable circumstances, with New Orleans definitely swimming upstream against adversity Thursday night. Not only was Kamara playing through a hand injury on a short week, but he was up against one of the league's better defenses through the first six weeks and facing them with his team's passing game significantly short on weapons. The collection of factors predictably led to Kamara's least productive game of the season yet, with both his rushing and receiving yardage totals qualifying as season lows. Even the additional passing game work Kamara stood to see never really materialized, but he should be in much better position overall in by the time a Week 8 road matchup against the Chargers on Sunday, Oct. 27.
Oct 16, 2024
Clear for Week 7
Kamara (hand) doesn't have a designation for Thursday's game versus the Broncos, Ross Jackson of WWL Louisiana reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara was listed as limited on all three of the Saints' Week 7 practice reports due to a hand injury, but it won't stop him from suiting up for a seventh game in a row to start the season. He's averaging 22 touches for 111 yards from scrimmage per game while scoring seven total TDs in six contests on the campaign, a workload that shouldn't be impacted by the potential season debut of Kendre Miller this week.
Oct 15, 2024
Another limited listing
Kamara (hand) was listed as a limited participant on Tuesday's walk-through practice,
ANALYSIS
With a pair of limited listings on the Saints' first two Week 7 practice reports, Kamara might need to upgrade to full participation Wednesday to avoid a questionable designation for Thursday's game against the Broncos. At this stage, the Saints haven't suggested that Kamara's status for Thursday is in peril, but even if he's available, he could still be subject to a lighter workload than normal on a short week. Kamara has played at least 70 percent in each of the Saints' last four games and handled 18 touches (13 carries, five receptions) in this past Sunday's loss to the Buccaneers.
Oct 14, 2024
Limited on Monday's estimate
Kamara (hand) was a limited participant on Monday's estimated injury report.
ANALYSIS
The Saints didn't practice Monday, but Kamara would have been limited had the team practiced. The workhorse running back has gotten at least 17 touches in every game this season, so Kamara's naturally a little banged up, but his status for Thursday's game against the Broncos doesn't appear to be in jeopardy.
Oct 13, 2024
Records 64 total yards in loss
Kamara rushed 13 times for 40 yards and a touchdown and brought in five of eight targets for 24 yards in the Saints' 51-27 loss to the Buccaneers on Sunday. He also committed a fumble recovered by New Orleans.
ANALYSIS
Kamara saw reduced rushing volume in a game where that progressively got away from the Saints during the second half, but he still co-led the Saints in receptions during rookie quarterback Spencer Rattler's first NFL start. Kamara also tallied his sixth rushing touchdown of the season on a four-yard run late in the second quarter, rounding out his fantasy day nicely. Kamara could face a more favorable game script during Thursday night's Week 7 home matchup against the Broncos.
Oct 11, 2024
Cleared to face Tampa
Kamara (hip/hand) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against Tampa Bay, Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
The Saints listed Kamara as a non-participant on Wednesday's practice estimate, after he took on a season-high 90 percent snap share in a 26-13 loss to the Chiefs on Monday. He was then a limited practice participant Thursday and Friday, apparently showing enough to avoid an injury designation for the first start of rookie QB Spencer Rattler's career. The Saints may lean on Kamara even more than usual, especially because Taysom Hill (rib) also is out this week, but the combination of Derek Carr's oblique injury and continued health struggles for the interior offensive line mean it's not the best setup for per-touch efficiency or frequent red-zone visits. The opponent, at least, appears favorable for fantasy production, although Tampa's injury-riddled defense appears somewhat healthier compared to the past few games.
Oct 10, 2024
Officially limited Thursday
Kamara (hip/hand) practiced in a limited fashion Thursday, John Hendrix of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara was absent from Wednesday's walkthrough due to hip and hand injuries, but his return one day later to a capped session bodes well for his status ahead of Sunday's game versus the Buccaneers. In the end, Friday's practice report will reveal whether or not he enters the weekend with a designation.
Oct 10, 2024
Back at practice Thursday
Kamara (hip/hand) was present at Thursday's practice, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara missed the first session of Week 4 prep, something that was replicated to begin this week, but it appears as if Wednesday's absence was more maintenance-related than anything as he tends to hip and hand injuries. Thursday's practice report will reveal how much work he was able to handle.
Oct 9, 2024
DNP on Wednesday
Kamara didn't participate in Wednesday's walkthrough due to hip and hand injuries, John Hendrix of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara was listed with hip and rib injuries the last two weeks but still was able to suit up Weeks 4 and 5. While he handled 26 touches on the first occasion at Atlanta, he fell back to 17 touches Monday in Kansas City. Considering the Saints didn't hold a full practice to begin Week 6 prep, Kamara will have two more chances to prove his health before the team potentially tags him with a designation for Sunday's contest against the Buccaneers.
Oct 7, 2024
Runs into brick wall defense
Kamara rushed 11 times for 26 yards and caught six of eight targets for 40 yards in Monday's 26-13 loss to the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Kamara was stuffed on most of his carries against a tough Kansas City defensive line in Monday's primetime matchup. The versatile tailback maintained a modest four-game streak of posting 40 or more receiving yards on his six receptions. Kamara will look for more success from a fantasy perspective in a home matchup against the Buccaneers on Sunday.
Oct 5, 2024
All set for Monday
Kamara (hips/ribs) does not carry an injury designation into Monday's game against the Chiefs, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara was a full participant in Saturday's practice clearing the way for the talented back to cleared ahead of the primetime contest. The veteran was listed with the dual hip/ribs injury last week, but that didn't seem to affect his workload as he took 26 touches for 119 total yards and a touchdown on an 81 percent snap share. It's safe to assume Kamara will once again be in a position to pile together plenty of fantasy points for managers.
Oct 4, 2024
Limited in practice again
Kamara (hip/ribs) was a limited practice participant Friday, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara was listed with the same pair of injuries last week and ended up taking 26 touches for 119 yards and a touchdown on 81 percent snap share in a loss to the Falcons. The concern for Monday's game in Kansas City isn't Kamara's health but the health of his blockers, as the Saints already have starting center Erik McCoy (groin) on injured reserve and now have three additional interior linemen missing practice due to injuries. It won't be hard for the Chiefs to get superstar DT Chris Jones in favorable matchups, which is bad news for Kamara's rushing outlook but could help his receiving volume.
Oct 3, 2024
Begins week as limited
Kamara (hip/ribs) practiced in a limited fashion Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Kamara managed a pair of limited practices last week due to the same health concerns and still was able to suit up this past Sunday in Atlanta, handling a typical 82 percent snap share and turning 26 touches into 119 yards from scrimmage and one rushing TD. His scaled-back workload Thursday likely is maintenance-related, but his status still should be monitored to ensure he's good to go for Monday's matchup with the Chiefs.
Sep 29, 2024
Finds end zone in Atlanta
Kamara carried the ball 19 times for 77 yards and a touchdown and caught seven of nine targets for 42 yards in Sunday's 26-24 loss to the Falcons.
ANALYSIS
For the fourth straight game to begin the season, Kamara topped 100 scrimmage yards, and he's already piled up six TDs (five rushing, one receiving). His 1-yard score inside the final three minutes of the fourth quarter Sunday looked like it might give the Saints the win, but a pass interference call on Paulson Adebo set up Younghoe Koo for a game-winning 58-yard field goal for the Falcons instead. Kamara will look to keep rolling in Week 5 against Kansas City.
Sep 29, 2024
Active in Week 4
Kamara (hip/ribs) is listed as active Sunday at Atlanta
ANALYSIS
After sitting out Wednesday's practice due to hip and rib injuries, Kamara closed Week 4 prep with consecutive limited sessions, which left him questionable heading into the weekend. Adam Schefter of ESPN reported early Sunday morning ET that Kamara intended to suit up, and that has come to pass. In three contests on the campaign, Kamara has been a workhorse out of the Saints backfield, averaging 23.7 touches for 139 yards from scrimmage per game while scoring five total TDs.
Sep 29, 2024
Plans to play in Week 4
Kamara (hip/ribs) is expected to play Sunday versus the Falcons, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara was able to log back-to-back limited practices to end the week and he now plans on playing in Week 4 against Atlanta. The running back will likely go through team warm ups ahead of their matchup at 1:00 p.m. ET and an official decision on his availability will come thereafter.

Listed as questionable
Kamara (hip/ribs) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game at Atlanta, Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
He managed limited practices Thursday and Friday after sitting out Wednesday. That would seem to make Kamara better than 50/50 to play, but fantasy managers will still want to prepare for the alternative ahead of a 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff this Sunday. Fellow Saints RB Jamaal Williams will take on a larger role if Kamara is inactive or limited, with rookie Jordan Mims and versatile weapon Taysom Hill also candidates to get some carries.
Sep 27, 2024
Practicing again
Kamara (hip/ribs) is practicing Friday, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara returned to practice Thursday as a limited participant after sitting out Wednesday. Another practice Friday puts him on track to play Sunday at Atlanta.
Sep 26, 2024
Officially limited Thursday
Kamara (hip/ribs) practiced in a limited fashion Thursday, John Hendrix of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara didn't take part in Wednesday's session due to a hip pointer and a rib injury, but the absence may have been maintenance-related after he handled 29 touches during the Saints' Week 3 loss to the Eagles. He thus will have one more chance to get back to full participation Friday before the team potentially marks him with a designation for Sunday's contest in Atlanta.
Sep 26, 2024
Returns to practice Thursday
Kamara (hip/ribs) took part in Thursday's practice, John Hendrix of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The Saints held Kamara out of Wednesday's session due to a rib injury and a hip pointer, so his return to drills one day later implies he's made a measure of progress in his recovery. Thursday's practice report ultimately will reveal his activity level, but there's been no indication that New Orleans' No. 1 RB is in danger of missing Sunday's game in Atlanta.
Sep 25, 2024
Misses practice Wednesday
Kamara (ribs/hip) is not practicing Wednesday, Luke Johnson of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara is dealing with ribs and hip pointer injuries, perhaps relating to the sizeable workload he handled during New Orleans' loss to the Eagles in Week 3. The veteran running back rushed 26 times for 87 yards while bringing in all three of his targets for 40 yards in the narrow loss to Philadelphia, shouldering a larger portion of touches due to Taysom Hill being sidelined with a bruised lung. Kamara will have two more chances to upgrade his participation level ahead of Sunday's pivotal divisional matchup against the Falcons. Jamaal Williams and Jordan Mims are the Saints' top backfield options behind Kamara, with Kendre Miller (hamstring) still on IR at least another week.
Sep 22, 2024
Logs 26 carries versus Philly
Kamara logged 26 rushes for 87 yards and gathered in all three targets for 40 yards during Sunday's 15-12 loss to the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
Kamara had to shoulder a bigger workload with Taysom Hill sidelined due a bruised lung. Hill was the Saints' No. 2 rushing option while taking handoffs and direct snaps out of the shotgun over the first two weeks of the season. In his absence, Kamara logged a season-high in touches, and this was his first game with over 25 rushing attempts since the 2021 season. However, the Saints logged just one rushing attempt of over 16 yards against the Eagles' defense. Kamara also didn't see nearly as many scoring opportunities compared to his four-touchdown outing last week, as the Saints ran just eight total plays from within the Eagles' red zone. He'll look to find his way back into the end zone Sunday against Atlanta.
Sep 15, 2024
Scores four times in rout
Kamara carried the ball 20 times for 115 yards and three touchdowns and caught two of three targets for 65 yards and a fourth TD in Sunday's 44-19 win over the Cowboys.
ANALYSIS
The veteran running found the end zone on runs of five, 12 and seven yards in the rout, but his receiving score was his most impressive scamper, as he took a screen pass 57 yards to the house in the second quarter. Kamara has been a perfect match for new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak's scheme, and he's topped 100 scrimmage in each of his first two games to begin the season while racking up five total TDs. He'll look to keep rolling in a Week 3 home clash with the Eagles.
Sep 8, 2024
Piles up yardage in big win
Kamara carried the ball 15 times for 83 yards and a touchdown and caught all five of his targets for 27 yards in Sunday's 47-10 win over the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
The veteran running back didn't get the contract extension he was looking for ahead of the season opener, but Kamara didn't let that affect his performance on the field. He capped his big day with a one-yard TD plunge in the third quarter. Kamara hasn't posted better than 4.0 yards per carry in a season since 2020, but if the Saints' offense is able to keep putting up numbers against tougher opponents, he could be headed for a bounce-back campaign. Kamara will face a much sterner test in Week 2 against the Cowboys.

Not playing in preseason finale
Kamara isn't suited up for Sunday's exhibition contest against Tennessee, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara returned to practice Tuesday after dealing with back tightness for about a week. The running back missed the Saints' second preseason game against San Francisco last weekend and won't play in the finale of the exhibition slate Sunday, so he'll finish the preseason with the two carries for three yards he tallied in New Orleans' opener against Arizona on Aug. 10. All signs point to Kamara being ready to go as the Saints' No. 1 running back in Week 1 against Carolina on Sept. 8.
Aug 20, 2024
Returns to practice
Kamara (back) returned to practice Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Albeit a lighter practice, according to Matthew Paras of NOLA.com, Kamara's return is certainly a positive sign. He had been sidelined since Aug. 13 with back tightness. Given the veteran back's status as the team's No. 1 option in the backfield, it would not be surprising to see head coach Dennis Allen continue to exercise caution with his availability going forward in preseason competition.
Aug 18, 2024
Sitting out against 49ers
Kamara (back) won't play in Sunday's preseason game against the 49ers, John Hendrix of Sports Illustrated reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara is in attendance but won't be seeing the field, as the coaching staff has little reason to deploy the veteran running back in this exhibition game while Kamara works his way back from back tightness that has kept him from practicing in the lead-up to this second preseason game. Kamara's unlikely to dress for the Saints' Aug. 25 preseason finale against the Titans, but the team hasn't given any indication that his regular-season availability could be affected by this injury.
Aug 16, 2024
Still missing practice
Kamara (back) remained sidelined at practice Friday, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Luke Johnson of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, Kamara left practice earlier this week with back tightness, so at this stage the running back should be considered day-to-day. With that in mind, it doesn't seem likely that Kamara will appear in Sunday's preseason game against the 49ers.
Aug 14, 2024
Remains sidelined Wednesday
Kamara (back) is not practicing Wednesday, Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara will miss a second consecutive day of practice due to back tightness. Coach Dennis Allen downplayed the severity of Kamara's situation Tuesday, so it doesn't appear the veteran running back is dealing with anything that will keep him from practicing for too long. If Kamara's back tightness keeps him off the field for Sunday's preseason game against the 49ers, though, it could pave the way for Jamaal Williams to start, especially with Kendre Miller (hamstring) still a non-participant.
Aug 13, 2024
Dealing with back injury
Coach Dennis Allen said Kamara didn't practice Tuesday due to back tightness, John Hendrix of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Prior to Tuesday's session, Kamara participated in walkthrough, so he wasn't without some activity, and Allen told Luke Johnson of The New Orleans Times-Picayune afterward that the running back's situation is "not a big deal." Kamara handled six offensive snaps during this past Saturday's preseason win at Arizona, but it's unclear if the current concern will impact his availability for Sunday's exhibition at San Francisco.
Aug 11, 2024
Two carries in preseason opener
Kamara rushed twice for three yards and did not draw a target in the Saints' 16-14 preseason win over the Cardinals on Saturday night.
ANALYSIS
The veteran running back was in on the first two possessions with the rest of the healthy members of the Saints' first-team offense and recorded a five-yard gain on the first play from scrimmage. Kamara isn't expected to need much preseason action to prepare for what will be his eighth NFL campaign, so it remains to be seen if he'll be back on the field for a road exhibition matchup versus the 49ers on Sunday, Aug. 18.
Jul 23, 2024
Reports for training camp
Kamara, who skipped the final day of minicamp back in June, is present for training camp Tuesday, Luke Johnson and Matthew Paras of NOLA.com report.
ANALYSIS
Kamara skipped the final day of June's mandatory minicamp due to apparent dissatisfaction with his current contract, but he won't risk incurring fines by skipping training camp. The veteran running back, who turns 29 this Thursday, is effectively heading into the final year of his contract, as there's little conceivable scenario wherein the Saints take on the $29 million cap hit he's due in 2025. Kamara has now put together three straight seasons with a 4.0 or worse YPC mark, but he's kept his fantasy value afloat via work in the receiving game, having tallied 75 receptions through just 13 games last year. He again projects for a high-usage role in 2024, with Kendre Miller and Jamaal Williams behind him on the depth chart.
Jun 13, 2024
Skips final minicamp practice
Kamara did not participate in New Orleans' final practice of mandatory minicamp Thursday, though he was present at team facilities, Jeff Duncan of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara's absence Thursday appears to be contract related, as he currently has two years remaining on his deal with the Saints. Luke Johnson of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports that while Kamara is seeking an extension with the team, not much progress has been made. The veteran running back has surpassed 1,000 yards from scrimmage in seven consecutive seasons, and his versatility remains instrumental to this offense. However, as he heads into his age-29 season, New Orleans could hesitate to re-up on a long-term commitment. Any time missed by Kamara this offseason will open reps up for 2023 third-round pick Kendre Miller as well as incumbent backup Jamaal Williams.
Jun 11, 2024
Reports for minicamp
Kamara (ankle) participated in the initial practice of the Saints' mandatory minicamp Tuesday, Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara wasn't present for most of the team's offseason program, but he showed up for the first of the final three sessions, indicating he's healthy after sitting out Week 18 due to an ankle injury. While he managed to surpass 1,000 yards from scrimmage for the seventh consecutive campaign in 2023, his output (1,160) marked the lowest of his career, partly due to missing the first three games due to a suspension. He'll again have to contend with Jamaal Williams and even Taysom Hill for short-yardage and goal-line work, but Kamara doesn't have much more competition for reps to speak of. As a result, Kamara should be poised for his usual busy role in New Orleans' new-look scheme under offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak.
May 5, 2024
Role safe following NFL Draft
Kamara (ankle) is in a strong position to maintain his role in New Orleans' offense after the team did not pick a running back in the 2024 NFL Draft, instead signing Jacob Kibodi as an undrafted free agent.
ANALYSIS
The Saints added two running backs by this point of last offseason, bringing in veteran free agent Jamaal Williams and third-round pick Kendre Miller for depth behind Kamara. The latter running back still shouldered the majority of work out of the backfield with 180 carries for 694 yards and five touchdowns. He also played a significant role in the passing game with 75 receptions for 466 yards. This versatility speaks to Kamara's importance in what was an extremely limited offense. Williams unsurprisingly played much more sparingly as a short-yardage back, and he should function in a similar role in 2024. Taysom Hill has always been used as a swiss army knife who, at times, operates as a rushing quarterback out of the shotgun. But, Hill's usage has never threatened Kamara's production in the past. Instead, his biggest obstacles to seeing another heavy workload in 2024 would be whether or not Miller starts to see more opportunities or if Kamara continues to struggle with injuries, as he did miss the 2023 seaso
Jan 12, 2024
Second in catches among RBs
Kamara (ankle) finished the 2023 season with 694 yards and five touchdowns on 180 rushing attempts, as well as 75 catches on 86 targets for 466 yards and one touchdown.
ANALYSIS
Despite sitting out the first three games of the season due to a suspension and missing the finale with an ankle injury, Kamara finished just one catch shy of Breece Hall's league-leading total among running backs. Kamara's 6.2 yards per catch were a career low, though, and he posted the second-lowest YPC mark of his seven-year career at 3.9, suggesting that the 28-year-old running back is starting to slow down. There's a potential out in his contract this offseason, and the Saints will probably try to rework Kamara's deal rather than take on a nearly $19 million cap hit in 2024. Any change in situation would likely negatively impact Kamara's fantasy value, as his volume's more likely to go down than up, even with the ankle injury expected to be healed well before the 2024 campaign.
Jan 7, 2024
Inactive in Week 18
Kamara (ankle) is listed as inactive Sunday versus the Falcons.
ANALYSIS
Kamara's Week 17 was abbreviated due to a sprained ankle, which didn't allow him to log a snap after halftime last Sunday at Tampa Bay. He then didn't practice at all during Week 18 prep before coach Dennis Allen called him a game-time decision for this Sunday's contest on Friday, per Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune. The tide began to turn against Kamara suiting up following a report from Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football on Sunday morning that the running back wasn't expected to play, and that has come to pass. With Kamara sidelined for the first time since Week 3, he'll yield the Saints backfield to Jamaal Williams, while Kendre Miller (ankle) and Jordan Mims are available behind him.
Jan 7, 2024
Looks unlikely to play Sunday
Kamara (ankle) isn't expected to play Sunday against the Falcons, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara didn't practice this past week, with previous reports suggesting that the running back was viewed as a game-time decision for the contest. Confirmation of Kamara's Week 18 status will arrive once the Saints' inactives are posted 90 minutes prior to Sunday's 1 p.m. ET kickoff, but if he is indeed unavailable, Jamaal Williams would be a candidate to serve as New Orleans' lead back, while Taysom Hill, Kendre Miller (ankle/illness) and practice-squad call-up Jordan Mims would also be in the mix for added snaps versus Atlanta.
Jan 7, 2024
Trending toward game-time call
Kamara (ankle) remains listed as questionable for Sunday's matchup with the Falcons and is viewed as a game-time decision, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Saints head coach Dennis Allen suggested as much after Friday's practice, but at this stage, Kamara may be more likely than not to sit out the regular-season finale after he was listed as a non-participant on each of the Saints' three practice reports this week. Kamara will presumably be put through a pregame workout before the Saints make a determination if he's fit to play through the ankle sprain, but even if the running back is deemed active ahead of the 1 p.m. ET kickoff, he could handle a more limited role than usual. Jamaal Williams would serve as New Orleans' lead back if Kamara isn't available Sunday, while Taysom Hill, Kendre Miller (ankle) and practice-squad call-up Jordan Mims could also be in the mix for carries behind Williams.
Jan 5, 2024
Listed as questionable
Kamara (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Atlanta, with coach Dennis Allen suggesting Friday that the running back will be a game-time decision, Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
"Alvin is one of the guys so valuable to our team, we'll take it all the way up to game time," Allen said. The running back wasn't able to return to last week's win over Tampa Bay after spraining in his ankle in the second quarter, and he didn't practice Thursday or Friday. It doesn't look great right now, but Kamara will at least be given a shot heading into the weekend, shaping up as a potential game-time call ahead of the Saints' 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff. Jamaal Williams will fill in as the lead back if Kamara isn't healthy enough to give it a go even with a playoff spot on the line.
Jan 4, 2024
Still not practicing Thursday
Kamara (ankle) isn't participating in Thursday's practice, Luke Johnson of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
The sprained ankle kept Kamara sidelined for the entire second half of this past Sunday's 23-13 win over the Buccaneers, and he's thus far taken no tangible steps forward in his recovery from the injury through the Saints' first two Week 18 practices. He'll have one more chance Friday to get in some on-field reps before the Saints decide whether Kamara carries a designation into Sunday's game against the Falcons. If Kamara is out or available only in a limited capacity this weekend, Jamaal Williams and Taysom Hill could see heightened roles in the Saints' ground attack.
Jan 3, 2024
Officially DNP on Wednesday
Kamara (ankle) officially was a non-participant at Wednesday's practice, John Hendrix of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara didn't play after halftime of this past Sunday's win in Tampa Bay due to an ankle injury, which coach Dennis Allen called a sprain of unknown severity Monday. With no on-field work to begin Week 18 prep, he'll now have two more sessions this week to put himself on a path to suiting up for Sunday's must-win game against the Falcons. If Kamara is inhibited or sidelined this weekend, he'll yield most of the backfield reps to Jamaal Williams.
Jan 3, 2024
Not spotted at practice Wednesday
Kamara (ankle) wasn't seen during the media-access portion of Wednesday's practice, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara made an early exit from this past Sunday's win at Tampa Bay due to an ankle injury, which coach Dennis Allen confirmed to be a sprain one day later, per John Hendrix of SI.com. The severity of the issue isn't known, but it appears to be keeping Kamara off the field for the first session of Week 18 prep. Wednesday's practice report ultimately may confirm as much.
Jan 1, 2024
Severity of ankle sprain uncertain
Saints head coach Dennis Allen didn't clarify the severity of Kamara's ankle sprain but said the running back was rehabbing the injury Monday, John Hendrix of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara suffered an ankle sprain in Sunday's victory over Tampa Bay and wasn't able to play in the second half. The Saints need a win over Atlanta on Sunday to have a chance of qualifying for the postseason, but it's uncertain if Kamara will be able to suit up for the contest. His chances of playing should become clearer as Week 18 prep unfolds, and if Kamara isn't able to take the field, Jamaal Williams would likely take over the bulk of the work in the Saints' backfield.
Dec 31, 2023
Exits Sunday with ankle injury
Kamara has been ruled out for the rest of Sunday's game against the Buccaneers with an ankle injury, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara carried 10 times for 45 yards and caught two passes for four yards in the first two quarters of the game but remained in the locker room at halftime to get the ankle injury checked out. The Saints initially listed Kamara as questionable to return shortly after the third quarter started, only for him to be ruled out for the rest of the game shortly thereafter. New Orleans will likely turn to Jamaal Williams and Taysom Hill as its primary rushers for the rest of the day.
Dec 31, 2023
Active as expected Sunday
Kamara (illness) is active for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers.
ANALYSIS
The star running back was reported to be trending toward suiting up Saturday night, and his active status is now official. While his availability is certainly welcome news for fantasy managers counting on the versatile veteran in their leagues' critical postseason matchups, it's worth noting Kamara is coming off his most inefficient rushing day of the season -- he garnered 19 yards on nine carries against the Rams in Week 16 -- and faces a Buccaneers defense that's yielded just 64.3 rushing yards per contest in the last three games.
Dec 31, 2023
Expected to play Sunday
Kamara (illness) is slated to play in Sunday's game at Tampa Bay, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara sat out Friday's practice due to an illness, clouding his status for Week 17. Following Schefter's report, though, Kamara won't be included on the Saints' inactive list that'll be posted about 90 minutes before Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff. Thus, there's a good chance he'll handle his typical workload, which has equated to 89 touches for 418 yards from scrimmage and three rushing TDs in five games since the team's Week 11 bye.
Dec 29, 2023
Questionable due to late-week illness
Kamara (illness) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Tampa Bay after missing practice Friday, Brooke Kirchhofer of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara was an end-of-week addition to the injury report and now has two days to recover before the Saints play a game they need to win to have a realistic shot at making the playoffs. If Kamara ends up inactive ahead of the 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff this Sunday, the Saints likely will turn to Jamaal Williams for most of the backfield snaps, with Kendre Miller (ankle - questionable) and/or James Robinson (practice squad) potentially getting some snaps of the bench. A Kamara absence might also allow Taysom Hill to get more carries, though that's far from a sure thing given his recent lack of involvement in the New Orleans offense.
Dec 29, 2023
Feeling sick Friday
Kamara missed Friday's practice due to an illness, Brooke Kirchhofer of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
No word yet on whether the Saints view Kamara's illness as a significant threat to his availability for Sunday's matchup with Tampa Bay. The veteran RB wasn't listed on the injury report Wednesday or Thursday.
Dec 22, 2023
Inefficient in Week 16 loss
Kamara rushed nine times for 19 yards and brought in five of six targets for 16 yards in the Saints' 30-22 loss to the Rams on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
The game eventually tilted away from the running game for the Saints, and while Kamara did tie for second in receptions on the night, he averaged only 3.2 yards per grab. He also found precious little running room on a carry total that tied his season low. Despite the disappointing results during a critical week of the fantasy season, Kamara should still be a must-start option in a critical Week 17 road matchup against the Buccaneers on New Year's Eve.
Dec 17, 2023
Churns out 110 total yards in win
Kamara rushed 16 times for 66 yards and caught all five of his targets for 44 yards in Sunday's 24-6 win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Kamara finished with the most carries, rushing yards and catches among players from either team, and only Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton (63) had more receiving yards in this defensive battle. The versatile running back was leaned on heavily in the absence of wide receivers Chris Olave (ankle) and Michael Thomas (knee). Kamara's 21 touches marked his highest total since Week 8, and he eclipsed 100 scrimmage yards for the sixth time this season. His significant involvement as both a rusher and a pass catcher should give Kamara a high floor Thursday against the Rams.
Dec 10, 2023
Subpar outing salvaged by TD
Kamara recorded 12 carries for 56 yards and one touchdown and three catches (on five targets) for minus-11 yards during Sunday's 28-6 victory against the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
On a day in which the Saints mustered just 207 yards of offense, Kamara's output wasn't much of a surprise, with his 45 yards from scrimmage marking his fewest of the season by a large margin (70 yards against the Bears back in Week 9 marked his previous low). He also extended his TD streak to two games, with his nine-yard scamper to the end zone in the first quarter doubling as his sixth score overall. New Orleans didn't have the services of Taysom Hill (foot/hand) on Sunday, so reserve running back Jamaal Williams handled 11 carries for 43 yards. Kamara will look to get back on track against the Giants next Sunday.
Dec 3, 2023
Scores twice in Week 13 loss
Kamara rushed 14 times for 51 yards and two touchdowns and brought in six of eight targets for 58 yards in the Saints' 33-28 loss to the Lions on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Kamara was able to put a bow on a productive fantasy day with two- and one-yard touchdown runs in the second half, and he also enjoyed an elevated pass-catching role with the Saints down both Rashid Shaheed (thigh) and Michael Thomas (IR-knee). The veteran back has no fewer than four catches in seven straight contests, and he's cleared the 50-yard mark on the ground in back-to-back games. Kamara next takes aim at an inconsistent Panthers run defense in a Week 14 home divisional clash.
Nov 26, 2023
Garners 119 total yards in loss
Kamara rushed 15 times for 69 yards and secured four of five targets for 50 yards in the Saints' 24-15 loss to the Falcons on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Kamara led the Saints in rushing yards as usual and also had some solid contributions in the passing game with the Saints down Michael Thomas (IR-knee) to open the game and then losing both Chris Olave (concussion) and Rashid Shaheed (thigh) during the contest. Kamara's rushing yardage total was his second highest of the campaign, and Sunday also marked his first time recording double-digit carries since Week 8. With a Week 13 home matchup against the high-powered Lions on tap, Kamara could play an even more pivotal role than usual if New Orleans' receiving corps is as depleted as it was at game's end Sunday.
Nov 12, 2023
Plenty of work as pass catcher
Kamara rushed the ball nine times for 42 yards in Sunday's 27-19 loss to the Vikings. He added seven receptions on seven targets for 33 yards.
ANALYSIS
Kamara led the team in carries and was efficient with his limited volume on the ground. However, the Saints were chasing points the entire game, tilting a bulk of his work toward the air. Kamara didn't deliver splash gains, but he did manage at least 75 total yards from scrimmage for the sixth time in his first seven games of the campaign.
Nov 5, 2023
Season-low 70 scrimmage yards
Kamara rushed nine times for 26 yards and caught four of five targets for 44 yards in Sunday's 24-17 win over the Bears.
ANALYSIS
Kamara's inability to find running room against Chicago's stout run defense wasn't too surprising, but his modest receiving production was disappointing considering the Bears came into this game having allowed the most receiving yards and receiving touchdowns in the league to running backs. While Kamara finished just two receiving yards shy of Chris Olave's team-leading total, the running back tied his second-lowest target total of the season, and Kamara's 70 scrimmage yards marked his lowest total in six appearances. He should remain involved as both a rusher and a pass catcher in Week 10 against the Vikings on the road.
Oct 29, 2023
Tallies two touchdowns in win
Kamara rushed 17 times for 59 yards and one touchdown to go along with four receptions (on five targets) for another score during Sunday's 38-27 victory versus Indianapolis.
ANALYSIS
Kamara scored multiple touchdowns for the first time in 2023 during this season-best performance for the Saints' offense. While the 28-year-old didn't play nearly as big of a role in the passing game, he still logged a touchdown both on the ground and through the air for the eighth time in his seven-year career. Meanwhile, backup running backs Jamaal Williams and Kendre Miller combined for 40 yards on nine carries. Kamara also totaled over 100 yards for the third game in a row, and his heavy workload in this offense has continued to make him a consistent RB1 for fantasy. He should expect to see 20-plus touches for the sixth game in a row versus Chicago on Sunday, Nov. 5.
Oct 26, 2023
Logs full practice Thursday
Kamara (illness) practiced in full Thursday, Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
One day removed from not practicing due to an illness Wednesday, Kamara was able to handle every practice rep, putting him on a path to resume his role as the Saints' workhorse running back. In four appearances this season, he's averaged 26 touches for 109.5 yards from scrimmage per game while scoring one TD on the ground.
Oct 26, 2023
Back practicing Thursday
Kamara (illness) was spotted on the field during the media-access portion of Thursday's practice, Luke Johnson of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara missed the Saints' first Week 8 practice Wednesday after falling ill, but his presence on the field a day later bodes well for his chances of being available Sunday in Indianapolis. The Saints' second injury report of the week will be released later Thursday and will reveal whether Kamara was a full or limited participant in his return to practice.
Oct 25, 2023
Comes down with illness
Kamara didn't practice Wednesday due to an illness, John Hendrix of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
In a Saints offense that has yet to find its footing under quarterback Derek Carr, Kamara has been a constant in his four appearances to date, racking up 104 touches for 438 yards from scrimmage and one rushing TD. While Kamara is dealing with an illness at the moment, it at least is making its presence felt in the middle of the practice week and not immediately before a game. In any case, Kamara's status will be something to monitor as the weekend approaches to get a sense of his potential to play (or not) Sunday at Indianapolis.
Oct 20, 2023
More elevated volume Thursday
Kamara rushed 17 times for 62 yards and brought in 12 of 14 targets for 91 yards in the Saints' 31-24 loss to the Jaguars on Thursday night. He also recorded a two-point conversion catch.
ANALYSIS
Kamara easily led the Saints in rushing and receiving yardage, with the latter total and his reception tally both serving as season highs. Kamara has eclipsed 60 rushing yards in each of his last three games and seeing what is arguably the most robust game-to-game volume of his career on the ground, while his 35 receptions through four contests put him on pace to blow past the career-high 83 he recorded back in 2020. Kamara's backfield mate Jamaal Williams returned in Thursday's game from a stint on injured reserve due to a hamstring issue, but Kamara still notably outpaced him by 12 carries. The division of labor between the two will be something to monitor during the Saints' Week 8 road matchup against the Colts on Sunday, Oct. 29.
Oct 15, 2023
Sees extensive usage again
Kamara accrued 19 carries for 68 yards and hauled in seven of eight targets for 36 yards during Sunday's 20-13 defeat to the Texans.
ANALYSIS
Kamara accounted for all but six of New Orleans' 25 total rushing attempts, and he's now averaged 17 carries through his first three games this season. He also factored prominently into the passing game for the second time in three weeks, tying with wideout Chris Olave and do-it-all tight end Taysom Hill for a team high in receptions. Kamara's workload has likely benefited due to the absence of No. 2 running back Jamaal Williams (hamstring). But, Kamara still has not seen many red-zone scoring opportunities, as the Saints cross the Texans' 20-yard line just twice in this loss. The 28-year-old has now averaged 3.6 yards per carry in each of the past two games, and this lack of explosiveness could limit his opportunities for touchdowns - especially if Williams returns from IR in time for Thursday's matchup versus Jacksonville.
Oct 8, 2023
Another heavy workload
Kamara rushed 22 times for 80 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 34-0 win over the Patriots. He added three receptions for 17 yards.
ANALYSIS
Kamara dominated touches out of the New Orleans backfield, and he now has at least 24 touches in each of his two games this season. Efficiency was a different story, as his longest gain on the ground was 10 yards and that mark rose to 12 yards as a receiver. However, he managed a strong fantasy performance after finding the end zone for the first time this season from two yards away early in the second quarter. While he hasn't shown much explosiveness, Kamara should be featured heavily once again with Jamaal Williams (hamstring) sidelined for at least one more week.
Oct 1, 2023
Logs 24 touches in season debut
Kamara rushed 11 times for 51 yards and brought in 13 of 14 targets for 33 yards in the Saints' 26-9 loss to the Buccaneers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Suiting up for the first time in 2023 following the completion of his three-game suspension, Kamara was put right to work as both runner and receiver. The versatile star had no threat to his lead-back role, with Taysom Hill the next-closest player to him in rushing work with a modest four carries. Meanwhile, Kamara appeared to be a primary beneficiary of Derek Carr's physical limitations due to an AC joint sprain, easily leading the team in receptions and targets. The massive workload right out of the gate was certainly encouraging from a fantasy perspective, and Kamara's playmaking ability should once again be given plenty of chances to surface in a Week 5 road matchup against the Patriots.
Sep 25, 2023
Back from suspension
Kamara was officially reinstated from his suspension Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
ANALYSIS
With Kamara having completed his three-game suspension to start the season, the running back is now on track to join the Saints' backfield Sunday against the Buccaneers. With Jamaal Williams (hamstring) on IR and set to miss at least three more games, Kamara figures to immediately step into a key role in his looming return, with fellow RBs Tony Jones and Kendre Miller also candidates to log touches in Week 4.
Aug 13, 2023
Five touches to begin preseason
Kamara (suspension) rushed three times for 14 yards and caught both of his targets for 21 yards in Sunday's 26-24 preseason win over the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Kamara racked up five touches as New Orleans' starting offense went 80 yards in 12 plays before scoring a touchdown on its first drive with new quarterback Derek Carr. The star tailback then handed over backfield duties to Jamaal Williams, who finished with nine carries for 28 yards. Considering he will be suspended for the first three games of the regular season, it's conceivable that Kamara gets more action next Sunday versus the Chargers, even though the Saints won't want to overexert their long-time playmaker.
Aug 13, 2023
In uniform Sunday
Kamara and the rest of the Saints' healthy offensive starters are expected to play in Sunday's preseason opener against the Chiefs, John Hendrix of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara was suspended for the first three games of the 2023 regular season due to his role in a February 2022 incident in Las Vegas, but that won't prevent him from getting some preseason work in. While the superstar running back will likely be available, he'll presumably only play a series or two.
Aug 4, 2023
Gets three-game suspension
The NFL is suspending Kamara for three games for his role in a Feb. 2022 incident, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
The punishment was announced two days after Kamara flew to New York to meet with league commissioner Roger Goodell. The 28-year-old will be able to practice with his teammates until the start of the regular season and will then be eligible to rejoin them ahead of Week 4. His upcoming absence, which has long been expected, leaves Jamaal Williams as the Saints' lead back for September, with rookie third-round pick Kendre Miller and Eno Benjamin also candidates to have roles.
Aug 2, 2023
Meeting with Goodell
Kamara is flying to New York on Wednesday to meet with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara anticipates being punished by the league for his role in a Feb. 2022 incident, even after he he saw felony battery charges dropped in July when he plead no contest to a misdemeanor charge of breach of peace. Now wants to tell Goodell his side of the story before the NFL determines the size of his fine and/or length of his suspension. Back at Saints training camp, any missed practices for Kamara will leave more first-team reps for Jamaal Williams, and possibly some for rookie Kendre Miller as well. There's a better-than-decent chance the NFL announces a suspension for Kamara at some point in the coming weeks/months.
Jul 31, 2023
Wants to meet with Goodell
Kamara plans to meet with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell regarding his offseason arrest and potential suspension, ESPN's Katherine Terrell reports.
ANALYSIS
The running back hopes to avoid a lengthy suspension from the league after felony charges were dropped in July when he plead no contest to a misdemeanor charge of breach of peace. A suspension of some sort remains the most likely outcome, but at this point it's hard to know when the decision will be made or exactly how many games Kamara will miss.
Jul 25, 2023
Still waiting on possible ban
Saints coach Dennis Allen said Tuesday that he doesn't know if or when Kamara will be suspended, Jeff Duncan of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
A suspension has long been expected for Kamara's involvement in a Feb. 2022 incident, and it could be coming fairly soon after the running back agreed July 11 to plead no contest to a misdemeanor in exchange for having felony charges dropped. Then again, the NFL isn't always quick to decide these things even after a legal case wraps up, so the Saints will need to be prepared for various scenarios this summer. They signed Jamaal Williams in March and then drafted Kendre Miller in the third round in April, devoting significant resources to backfield depth for the first time since Kamara's first couple years in the league.
Jul 11, 2023
Pleads no contest to lesser charge
Kamara has agreed Tuesday to plead guilty to a lesser misdemeanor charge stemming from his alleged participation in a 2022 incident in Las Vegas, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara had been arrested in February of 2022 on suspicion of felony battery resulting in substantial bodily harm, but by agreeing to plead guilty to a misdemeanor his felony charge now vanishes. David Charns of Vegas 8 News reports that Kamara will be required to pay $100,000 to the victim for medical bills and take part in community service. The NFL could still decide to subject Kamara to discipline in the form of a suspension or fines during the 2023 season, but dropping from a felony charge to a misdemeanor could mean his potential punishment will be reduced, if the league does decide on one. Heading into his age-28 season, Kamara looks set to share backfield work with Jamaal Williams and rookie third-round pick Kendre Miller (knee).
Mar 15, 2023
Gets new running mate in backfield
Kamara has added competition for carries this coming season after Saints agreed to sign free agent Jamaal Williams on Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Kamara's overall production stagnated as he dealt with numerous lingering injuries throughout the 2022 campaign, logging 1,387 total yards on 280 touches across 15 regular-season games. However, he still accounted for the vast majority of the Saints' carries at running back, as the team sorely lacked depth in the backfield and across the offense as a whole. This figures to change following the addition of Williams. The 224-pound bruiser served as the No. 2 back behind Aaron Jones in Green Bay for four seasons. Across 17 regular-season games with Detroit in 2022, Williams finished with 262 carries for 1,066 yards and a franchise-record 17 touchdowns. The 27-year-old Williams should once again fall into a complementary role in New Orleans while playing behind Kamara. The Saints' No. 1 running back is still set to begin trail July 31 after he was charged with conspiracy to commit battery and substantial bodily harm stemming from a February 2022 incident. Therefore, Kamara's availability for the beginning of the

Trial set for July 31
Kamara has pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to commit battery and substantial bodily harm stemming from a Feb. 2022 incident, Michael Baca of NFL.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The report relays that Kamara's trial is set for July 31, with Patrick Magee of the New Orleans Times-Picayune noting that the timing of the scheduled proceedings could impact the running back's attendance at training camp practice. With regard to Kamara's status for the coming season, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport suggests that in the event that Kamara is found guilty, discipline from the league would likely come in 2023. In 15 games with the Saints during the 2022 campaign, Kamara carried 223 times for 897 yards and two TDs to go along with 57 catches for 490 yards and a pair of receiving scores.
Jan 8, 2023
Season high rushing yards Week 18
Kamara posted 23 carries for 107 yards and gathered in one of two targets for three yards during Sunday's 10-7 defeat to Carolina.
ANALYSIS
Kamara closed out his 2022 campaign with his second 100-yard rushing game of the season. He also matched his season high for rushing attempts, and he finished with three games of 20 or more carries over the final four weeks of the regular season. Over 15 contests, Kamara recorded 223 carries for 897 yards and two rushing touchdowns to go along with 57 receptions (on 77 targets) for 490 yards and two receiving touchdowns. While he didn't come close to matching his usual standard as a scorer, the 27-year-old running back still accumulated over 1,300 total yards for the sixth time in as many seasons. Kamara also started the 2022 campaign hampered by a rib injury, though he still handled 280 touches. These are both encouraging signs for his status as one of the top fantasy running backs heading into the 2023 campaign.

Loses work to Hill
Kamara rushed the ball 16 times for 74 yards in Sunday's 20-10 win over the Eagles. He added one reception for seven yards.
ANALYSIS
Despite positive game script, Kamara saw a downtick in involvement as Taysom Hill racked up 14 rushing attempts. Kamara's loss of usage was further underscored by his continued lack of involvement as a receiver, and he has now failed to record more than two receptions in four consecutive games. Positively, Kamara was efficient with his opportunity on the ground by averaging 4.6 yards per carry, highlighted by gains of 15 and 12 yards. All told, he now has at least 80 total yards in three consecutive games.
Dec 30, 2022
Ready for Sunday
Kamara (personal/quadriceps) doesn't have a designation for Sunday's game in Philadelphia, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
After he didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday due to a combination of a personal matter and a quad issue, Kamara returned to the field Friday and logged a full session. Afterward, coach Dennis Allen relayed to Rod Walker of The Times-Picayune that Kamara "looked good out there today, and he'll be ready to go this weekend." The preceding has come to pass, setting Kamara up to continue leading the Saints backfield Week 17.
Dec 30, 2022
Returns to practice
Kamara (personal/quadriceps) returned to practice Friday, Luke Johnson of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara was absent Wednesday and Thursday due to a combination of a personal matter and a quad injury. However, coach Dennis Allen put any concerns about his availability for Week 17 to rest Friday, telling Rod Walker of The Times-Picayune that the running back "looked good out there today, and he'll be ready to go this weekend." It's not yet known if Kamara will have a designation for Sunday's game at Philadelphia, but Friday's practice report will reveal as much.
Dec 29, 2022
Remains absent from practice
Kamara (quadriceps/personal) wasn't spotted at Thursday's practice, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
It's unclear whether the quad issue or the personal matter is what's preventing Kamara from taking the field Thursday, as it was the latter concern that kept him away from the New Orleans facility entirely Wednesday. Whatever the case, he'll be listed as a non-participant for the second practice in a row, making Friday's session an all-important one in deciding his status for Sunday's game in Philadelphia. If Kamara isn't cleared to play this weekend, the Saints would be left with David Johnson and Eno Benjamin as their available running backs, though the jack-of-all-trades Taysom Hill is likely to factor into the equation in some capacity regardless of whether Kamara is available or not.
Dec 28, 2022
DNP due to personal reasons, quad
Kamara didn't practice Wednesday due to personal reasons and a quad injury.
ANALYSIS
Coach Dennis Allen said earlier Wednesday that Kamara was a non-participant due to a "personal issue," according to Erin Summers of the Saints' official site. However, the team also listed Kamara with a health concern, so his status will be one to monitor as the week continues. Fortunately for Kamara, he'll have chances to log some drills Thursday and/or Friday before New Orleans potentially hands him a designation for Sunday's contest at Philadelphia.
Dec 24, 2022
Reaches milestone in win
Kamara tallied 20 carries for 76 yards and one touchdown and hauled in two of four targets for 34 yards during Saturday's 17-10 win over the Browns.
ANALYSIS
Kamara carried the Saints' option rushing attack with versatile quarterback Taysom Hill for the second week in a row. The running back's production benefited from Saturday's blustery weather conditions along with a depleted New Orleans receiving corps, as the team attempted just 15 passes compared to 39 total rushes. Kamara also posted the final touchdown of the game with a four-yard carry late in the third quarter. This score marked the sixth-year back's 72nd touchdown of his career, tying him with wide receiver Marques Colston for the most career touchdowns in Saints history. Kamara has now 20 carries in back-to-back games for the first time this season, and his added value in the receiving game should ensure him plenty of touches over the final two regular-season games.
Dec 23, 2022
Could be headed for heavy usage
New Orleans could lean more heavily on the Kamara-led ground attack in Saturday's game against the Browns due to a forecast in Cleveland that includes frigid temperatures and sustained winds of almost 30 miles per hour, John DeShazier of the Saints' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
With 32 pass attempts per game, the Saints have already ranked in the bottom half of the league this season, but the poor weather and the absence of two key receivers in Chris Olave (hamstring) and Jarvis Landry (ankle) could prompt New Orleans to skew even more run-heavy than usual. Moreover, the Browns defense has proven to be more vulnerable against the run, as the unit surrenders 133.1 rushing yards per game, tied for the eighth-worst mark in the league. Coming off a 21-carry, 91-yard effort in the Week 15 win over the Falcons, Kamara should be busy again Saturday, as should Taysom Hill. Though he's listed as a tight end, Hill essentially served as the primary backup to Kamara last week, as he carried seven times for 30 yards in addition to throwing for 80 yards and a touchdown on two pass attempts.
Dec 18, 2022
Tops 100 total yards in win
Kamara posted 21 carries for 91 yards and caught both of his targets for 13 yards during Sunday's 21-18 win over the Falcons.
ANALYSIS
Kamara looked like his old self coming off the Saints' Week 14 bye. The 27-year-old accumulated more than 100 total yards for the first time in his last six games, as he posted his third-most touches of the season. With Mark Ingram (knee) set to miss the remainder of the season on IR, Kamara easily paced New Orleans in rushing attempts ahead of swiss-army-knife Taysom Hill (seven) and new No. 2 back David Johnson (four). While Kamara was kept out of the end zone for the sixth straight game, this significant uptick in usage is an encouraging sign for his production moving heading into Week 16's matchup against Cleveland's porous rush defense, which has allowed 5.0 yards per carry this season.
Dec 5, 2022
Stifled in another loss Week 13
Kamara tallied 12 carries for 26 yards and caught two of three targets for 11 yards during Monday's 17-16 defeat versus the Buccaneers.
ANALYSIS
Kamara continued to underperform expectations, averaging less than four yards per carry for the sixth game in a row. While the five-time Pro Bowler was limited by three of the league's best rushing defenses in his previous three outings, he did not manage to break a run longer than five yards against a Buccaneers defense that allowed 4.6 yards per carry coming into Week 13. Kamara also posted his worst receiving stat line of the season despite quarterback Andy Dalton's solid performance Monday night. The running back has been forced to operate behind a banged-up offensive line recently, and this unit should have some time to recover during New Orleans' upcoming bye Week 14.
Dec 1, 2022
No listing Thursday
Kamara (undisclosed) wasn't listed on Thursday's injury report.
ANALYSIS
Kamara's last snap in this past Sunday's loss at San Francisco was a lost fumble at the goal line, which resulted in the running back visiting the sideline tent and continuing to don pads in the waning minutes of the contest. No injury was reported at the time or in its aftermath, and now he's avoided the Saints' initial practice report of Week 13. Kamara thus is in line to remain the team's primary backfield option, especially with Mark Ingram (foot, limited Thursday) dealing with a new health concern.
Nov 27, 2022
Coughs up ball twice against SF
Kamara was limited to 13 rushing yards on seven carries and 37 receiving yards on six receptions (seven targets) Sunday. He also lost two fumbles in a 13-0 loss to San Francisco.
ANALYSIS
Kamara coughed up the ball on the Saints' first and last offensive drives, effectively hamstringing the offense in a winnable contest. The latter fumble was especially tough to swallow for fantasy owners, as the ball was punched out at the goal line as the back was fighting for a potential touchdown. To add insult to injury for Kamara's fantasy managers, the star player was seen being treated in the medical tent following the aforementioned play, John Hendrix of SI.com reports. The 27-year-old remained in pads and returned to the sidelines for the final couple minutes of garbage time. It wouldn't be surprising to see Kamara pop up on the injury report this week ahead of next Monday's tilt against the Buccaneers.
Nov 25, 2022
No injury designation
Kamara (illness) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game at San Francisco, New Orleans Football Network reports.
ANALYSIS
The Saints listed Kamara as a full participant Friday after he missed practice Thursday, though multiple reporters said the running back left early Friday. Coach Dennis Allen doesn't expect the illness to impact Kamara on Sunday, with the Saints apparently confident enough to leave their lead runner off the final injury report. Backup Mark Ingram, who missed the past three games with a knee injury, is listed as questionable.
Nov 24, 2022
DNP due to illness
Kamara was absent from Thursday's session due to an illness, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara wasn't spotted at the media-access portion of the Saints' second practice of Week 12, and the reason for the DNP now is known. He doesn't have much time to get past the bug ahead of Sunday's game at San Francisco, but he at least has one more opportunity to participate in drills Friday before the team potentially gives him a designation. With Mark Ingram (knee) back on the field as limited this week, he could be New Orleans' lead runner Sunday if Kamara is at all inhibited.
Nov 20, 2022
Solid performance in win
Kamara notched 12 carries for 42 yards and reeled in four of five targets for 47 yards during Sunday's 27-20 win over the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Kamara bounced back following two of his worst outings of the season. While his rushing average remained below 3.6 yards per carry for the fourth straight game, Kamara recorded double-digit carries for the first time since his three-touchdown performance against the Raiders in Week 8. The versatile back also tied tight end Juwan Johnson as the Saints' second-leading receiver behind wideout Chris Olave, as quarterback Andy Dalton had a resurgent passing performance against the Rams. Kamara will look to notch just his fourth touchdown of the season next week against San Francisco.
Nov 13, 2022
Another quiet game
Kamara rushed the ball eight times for 26 yards in Sunday's 20-10 loss to the Steelers. He added three receptions for 19 yards.
ANALYSIS
Kamara turned in his second consecutive disappointing performance and his lowest yardage total of the season. That was due in part to a season-low eight rushes, but Kamara also struggled to find room to operate as both a rusher and receiver. His longest gain of the day went for 14 yards on the ground, but he was otherwise bottled up. The Saints' offense has gone stagnant of late with Andy Dalton under center, which will continue to make it difficult for Kamara to consistently produce moving forward.
Nov 9, 2022
No suspension expected this year
Kamara is unlikely to be suspended this season with his trial date scheduled for March 1 in connection to an alleged assault this past February, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
The league office has declined to suspend Kamara even with video evidence and seemingly intends to wait until the legal process plays out before considering a suspension and/or fine. That's not a definite, but it does seem more likely that the running back misses time next season.
Nov 8, 2022
Disappoints in primetime
Kamara rushed the ball nine times for 30 yards in Monday's 27-13 loss to the Ravens. He added three receptions on four targets for 32 yards.
ANALYSIS
Kamara struggled to get going on the ground, as he matched his lowest carry total of the season and was also held for his fewest yards. He seemed to be getting on track in the second and third quarters when he picked up chunk gains of 10, nine and six yards, but the Saints couldn't stick with the running game due to game script. The bigger disappointment was Kamara's lack of involvement through the air, as his three receptions were his lowest mark since Week 3. Andy Dalton failed to get the Saints' offense on track and only Chris Olave surpassed three receptions in the matchup.
Oct 30, 2022
Scores three TDs
Kamara rushed 18 times for 62 yards and a touchdown while catching 9 of 10 targets for 96 yards and two more scores in Sunday's 24-0 win over the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
Kamara broke his touchdown drought in spectacular fashion. He opened the scoring with a three-yard rush during the first quarter, then barreled through a number of Raiders defenders on a 16-yard touchdown catch later on. Shortly after halftime, he again struck through the air, scoring from 36 yards. In doing so, he posted new season highs in all major receiving categories. His huge performance Sunday gives Kamara's stock a nice boost ahead of Week 9's Monday night matchup versus the Ravens.
Oct 20, 2022
Compiles 18 touches in loss
Kamara rushed 11 times for 49 yards and brought in seven of nine targets for 56 yards in the Saints' 42-34 loss to the Cardinals on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Game script helped limit Kamara's rushing touches overall, and he picked up three of his seven catches on the Cardinals' final drive. The versatile veteran also typically found running room at a premium, as outside of his game-long 17-yard rush, he netted just 32 yards on his 10 other carries. Nevertheless, Kamara did out pace backfield mate Mark Ingram by seven carries and now has 19 receptions over the last three games alone, giving him plenty of upside ahead of a Week 8 home matchup against the Raiders a week from Sunday.
Oct 16, 2022
High-volume in losing effort
Kamara rushed 19 times for 99 yards and caught six of nine targets for 25 yards in Sunday's 30-26 loss to the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
Kamara churned out his second consecutive strong fantasy performance playing behind fill-in starting quarterback Andy Dalton. While it is currently unclear who will be under center for New Orleans next week -- or on a given drive -- it has become crystal clear that the team's star running back is getting healthier. The 26-year-old played in back-to-back games for the first time this season, averaging 159.0 yards from scrimmage over that span. It is fortunate timing for fantasy managers that Kamara looks healthy, as the Saints have a quick turnaround in a Thursday matchup with Arizona to kick off Week 7.
Oct 9, 2022
Nears 200 total yards
Kamara rushed the ball 23 times for 103 yards in Sunday's 39-32 win over the Seahawks. He added six receptions on six targets for 91 yards.
ANALYSIS
Kamara has missed two of the Saints' first four games due to a rib issue, but he showed no ill effects against Seattle. He wasn't able to find the end zone but still delivered a few splash plays, highlighted by a 54-yard catch and run that set up a touchdown two plays later. Also of note was the volume that Kamara handled, as his 29 touches were 12 more than he had seen in a previous game this season. While he began the campaign by splitting the backfield with Mark Ingram, Kamara looks to be in line to handle something closer to a workhorse role moving forward.
Oct 9, 2022
Making return Sunday
Kamara (rib) is active for Sunday's game against the Seahawks.
ANALYSIS
The rib injury conspired to sideline Kamara for two of the Saints' last three games, but after a trio of limited practices this week, New Orleans' top running back has been cleared to return to action. With top wideout Michael Thomas (foot) sidelined, Kamara could absorb some of the vacated targets in the passing game, though he'll have to make due at quarterback with Andy Dalton, who is filling in for Jameis Winston (back/ankle) for the second straight week.
Oct 9, 2022
Expected to play Sunday
Kamara (ribs), who's listed as questionable, is expected to play Sunday against the Seahawks, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara has missed two of the last three games, but he's expected to play against Seattle despite being limited at each practice this week. Fantasy managers should still confirm Kamara's status ahead of Sunday's 12:00 PM ET kickoff, especially after the star running back was a late scratch ahead of Week 4. With Latavius Murray and Tony Jones no longer with New Orleans, Mark Ingram and Dwayne Washington are in line to serve as the top backups behind Kamara.
Oct 7, 2022
Questionable for Week 5
Kamara (ribs) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Seattle after practicing on a limited basis Wednesday through Friday this week, Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara missed two of the past three games, including last week in London after following the same practice routine (limited participation every day). Mark Ingram and Latavius Murray both topped 40 percent snap share in the loss to Minnesota, but with Murray now gone to the Broncos, the Saints might turn back to Tony Jones as the complement to Ingram if Kamara can't play. The Saints will release their inactive list around 11:30 a.m. ET on Sunday, and they've already revealed that it'll include WR Michael Thomas (O - foot) and likely QB Jameis Winston (D - back/ankle).
Oct 6, 2022
Limited again practice
Kamara (ribs) was limited at Thursday's practice, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara continues to operate with limitations on his practice reps, with just one more opportunity to bump up to full before the Saints potentially give him a designation for Sunday's game against the Seahawks. For what it's worth, he's confident that he'll be able to play this weekend, telling Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com on Wednesday that he's "feeling great, healthy, ready to roll," and he's "going to be out there." If Kamara gains clearance to play, he may have to share touches out of the backfield with Mark Ingram, but the former still has averaged 14.5 touches per game in his two appearances this season.
Oct 5, 2022
Another limited practice
Kamara (ribs) practiced in a limited fashion Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Like he did last week prior to being inactive this past Sunday versus the Vikings in London, Kamara has a cap on his practice reps. He'll have opportunities to bump up to all activity Thursday and Friday, after which the Saints may give him a game-day designation for Sunday's contest against the Seahawks. Mark Ingram again would be the main beneficiary if Kamara is limited or out this weekend, with Dwayne Washington and Tony Jones the other running backs on New Orleans' active roster.
Oct 5, 2022
Present at practice Wednesday
Kamara (ribs) took part in practice Wednesday, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Despite logging three limited practices during Week 3 prep, Kamara was unavailable for this past Sunday's loss to the Vikings in London due to a rib injury. His activity level Wednesday isn't known, but if he handles all the reps, he'll be in line to lead the Saints backfield moving forward.
Oct 2, 2022
Inactive Sunday
Kamara (ribs) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
With Kamara inactive, look for Mark Ingram to head the Saints' running back corps versus the Vikings, with Dwayne Washington and Latavius Murray on hand to work in complementary roles. Kamara's next chance to suit up will arrive in Week 5, when New Orleans faces the Seahawks.
Oct 2, 2022
Not in line to play Sunday
Kamara (ribs) is not slated to play Sunday against the Vikings, Stacey Dales of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara's status for the contest will be officially confirmed upon the release of the Saints' inactives ahead of Sunday's 9:30 ET kickoff, but it looks like the team's Week 4 rushing game is in line to be led by Mark Ingram.

Officially questionable
Kamara (ribs) is listed as questionable on Friday's injury report, John Hendrix of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara is questionable for Sunday's contest against the Vikings after having logged a trio of limited practices this week. Meanwhile, the Saints already have Jameis Winston (back/ankle/hip) listed as doubtful and Michael Thomas (foot) ruled out, so the team can scarce to lose another playmaker of Kamara's level. If Kamara is able to suit up, he could benefit from increased target volume in Thomas' absence, likely catching passes from Andy Dalton.

Limited again in practice
Kamara (rib) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Kamara has had his reps capped in both of the Saints' first two practices of Week 4, but at this stage, the team hasn't suggested that the rib injury will keep the running back sidelined for Sunday's game against the Vikings like it did during the Week 2 loss to Tampa Bay. In his return to action last weekend at Carolina, Kamara handled a 70-percent snap share and turned his 17 touches (15 carries, two receptions) into 73 yards from scrimmage. In other news related to Kamara, David Charns of 8 News Now Las Vegas relays that the running back has had his latest court date stemming from his February arrest on a battery charge pushed back to Nov. 9. Given the multiple delays in the court proceedings, it's looking increasingly unlikely that a resolution on the legal matter will come before the end of the season, which lessens the risk of Kamara having to serve a suspension in 2022.

Starts week limited
Kamara (ribs) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice, John Hendrix of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara played through his rib injury Week 3 versus Carolina, but he was limited to 73 scrimmage yards on 17 touches, while Mark Ingram saw five touches and scored New Orleans' only rushing touchdown. If Kamara can improve his practice level over the next two days, he could be closer to 100 percent form and thus more effective during Sunday's contest against the Vikings in London.
Sep 25, 2022
Struggles in return
Kamara (ribs) rushed 15 times for 61 yards while catching two of seven targets for 12 yards and losing a fumble in Sunday's 22-14 loss to the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
Kamara suited up after sitting out in Week 2 but appeared to be far from 100 percent. His first-quarter fumble near midfield was returned for a touchdown by Carolina's defense, and Kamara watched Mark Ingram punch in a five-yard touchdown in the third. Jameis Winston has shown much less interest in checking down to Kamara compared to previous Saints quarterbacks, as Kamara has just 19 receiving yards on the season heading into the Week 4 London game against the Vikings.
Sep 25, 2022
Returning to action Sunday
Kamara (ribs) is listed as active Sunday at Carolina.
ANALYSIS
After maintaining limited sessions during the entirety of Week 3 prep, Kamara will miss just one game as a result of a rib injury. While he handled a 63 percent share of the offensive snaps in the season opener, he was given only 12 touches, which he turned into 46 yards from scrimmage. There's a chance he yields some reps to Mark Ingram and perhaps Dwayne Washington out of the Saints backfield, but Kamara still should receive a majority share of the team's RB workload.
Sep 24, 2022
Expected to play Sunday
Kamara (ribs) is listed as questionable, but he's expected to play Sunday against the Panthers, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara sat out during the team's Week 2 loss to Tampa Bay due to a rib injury, but he's on track to return Sunday after logging limited practices throughout the week. However, fantasy managers should still confirm his status ahead of Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff. If available, Kamara may be limited following his one-game absence, but he'll likely still be a top-tier option against Carolina's poor run defense.
Sep 23, 2022
Listed as questionable again
Kamara (ribs) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game at Carolina, Luke Johnson of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara was listed as questionable ahead of last week's game against Tampa Bay but never seemed likely to play, and he ultimately was inactive while Mark Ingram and Tony Jones took over the backfield. This week, Kamara has a real shot, following limited practices Wednesday through Friday. If he ends up missing another week, Ingram would be the preferred fantasy play over Jones, who got just four touches on 34 snaps in the loss to Tampa (Ingram got 12 touches on 25 snaps). There's also the possibility of Kamara playing but in a limited role, something the Saints won't necessarily reveal ahead of the 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff this Sunday.
Sep 22, 2022
Remains limited at practice
Kamara (ribs) was limited at practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Kamara maintained his activity level from Wednesday and will have another opportunity to bump up to full before the Saints issue their final Week 3 injury report. He's looking to keep his DNP streak to one game, which may be confirmed as soon as Friday.
Sep 21, 2022
Limited in return to practice
Kamara (ribs) practiced in a limited capacity Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Kamara was able to log just one limited practice last week before the Saints deemed him inactive for this past Sunday's contest against the Buccaneers. The team may take a cautious approach as it prepares for this Sunday's road matchup with the Panthers, but the sixth-year running back has two more opportunities this week to get back to a full session.
Sep 21, 2022
Back at practice Wednesday
Kamara (ribs) took part in Wednesday's practice, Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara managed just one limited showing during Week 2 prep before the Saints made him inactive for this past Sunday's game against the Buccaneers. His activity level to begin this week isn't known yet, but he at least appears to be putting himself on a path to play Week 3 at Carolina. Wednesday's injury report will unveil how much work Kamara was able to handle.
Sep 18, 2022
Sitting out Week 2
Kamara (ribs) is listed as inactive Sunday against the Buccaneers, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara opened Week 2 prep with a limited session, only to end it with back-to-back absences Thursday and Friday due to a rib issue. As Sunday's 1 p.m. ET kickoff approached, his status became more and more murky, and the Saints ultimately will keep him in street clothes. In Kamara's stead, Mark Ingram (ankle) should get the first chance to work out of the team's backfield, but he was limited in practice Wednesday through Friday. Behind Ingram, Dwayne Washington (hamstring) and Tony Jones are the next backs up for New Orleans. On a fortunate note for the Saints, Adam Schefter of ESPN relays that the team doesn't consider Kamara's injury a multi-week concern, so the 27-year-old should have a good chance at making it back in action for New Orleans' next game Sept. 25 at Carolina.
Sep 18, 2022
Not expected to play
Kamara (ribs) remains listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers but isn't expected to play, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Official confirmation of Kamara's Week 2 status will arrive upon the release of the Saints' inactive list 90 minutes prior to the 1 p.m. ET kickoff. Assuming Kamara ends up being out, Mark Ingram (ankle), if active, should see an expanded workload Sunday along with Tony Jones.
Sep 18, 2022
Not expected to play Sunday
Kamara (ribs) is listed as questionable, but he isn't expected to play Sunday against the Buccaneers, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara was a limited participant Wednesday but didn't practice Thursday or Friday, putting him in serious doubt for Week 2. Backup RB Mark Ingram (ankle) is also questionable, but he's expected to play Sunday, so he'll be in line for a hefty workload as New Orleans top running back.
Sep 16, 2022
Questionable for Sunday
Kamara (ribs) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Tampa Bay, Rod Walker of NOLA.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara opened the week as a limited participant but now appears truly in doubt for Sunday after missing practice Thursday and Friday. Backup RB Mark Ingram (ankle) also is listed as questionable this week, though seemingly with better odds to play after managing limited practices Wednesday through Friday. Behind those two, the Saints have Tony Jones and Dwayne Washington (questionable - hamstring) as their other RBs on the roster.
Sep 16, 2022
Not spotted Friday
Kamara (ribs) doesn't appear to be practicing Friday, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
It's a sign he's in danger of missing Sunday's game against the Bucs, now missing back-to-back practices after a limited session Wednesday. Mark Ingram (ankle) will fill in as the starter if Kamara can't play, assuming the 32-year-old can play after limited practices Wednesday and Thursday.
Sep 15, 2022
Spectator for Thursday's practice
Kamara (rib) was in attendance for Thursday's practice but isn't participating in drills, Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara's presence on the sideline Thursday comes after he was a limited participant in the Saints' first Week 2 practice session Wednesday due to the rib injury he sustained during last Sunday's win over the Falcons. While the downturn in activity isn't the most welcome sign for Kamara, it's conceivable that the Saints intended to give him some extra maintenance Thursday before having him return to the field Friday in some capacity. With that in mind, Kamara's activity at Friday's practice will bear watching, but unless he's a full participant in the session, he may head into this weekend's matchup against the Buccaneers with an injury designation.
Sep 14, 2022
Limited to start week
Kamara (rib) was a limited practice participant Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Any kind of participation is a good sign for Kamara's availability Week 2 against Tampa Bay. He played 62 percent of offensive snaps in the season opener but was held to 46 scoreless yards on 12 touches in a game where the Saints' wide receivers led the charge. Any limitations in Week 2 could benefit Mark Ingram, though he also was a limited participant Wednesday (with an ankle injury).
Sep 12, 2022
Dealing with rib issue
Saints head coach Dennis Allen said Monday that Kamara picked up a rib issue during Sunday's win over Atlanta, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
While dealing with the issue, Kamara still rushed nine times for 39 yards and hauled in three of four targets for seven yards during Sunday's win. It wasn't the superstar running back's prototypical production, but he didn't appear too limited either. Allen said Monday, "I think he's going to be fine." Either way, it's certainly something worth monitoring ahead of Week 2.
Sep 11, 2022
Quiet in Week 1 win
Kamara rushed nine times for 39 yards and brought in three of four targets for seven yards in the Saints' 27-26 win over the Falcons on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
The Saints were down by a 16-7 margin at halftime and 23-10 going into the fourth quarter, which certainly conspired to limit Kamara's opportunities on the ground. The versatile star also surprisingly saw jack-of-all-trades Taysom Hill vulture four rush attempts that he parlayed into 81 yards and a touchdown, although Kamara still outpaced backfield mate Mark Ingram by five carries. There naturally should be much more productive days ahead for Kamara, with the next opportunity coming in a tough Week 2 NFC South matchup against the Buccaneers next Sunday.
Aug 26, 2022
Three touches in preseason finale
Kamara rushed twice for 19 yards and caught his only target for five yards in Friday's 27-10 preseason win over the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Kamara got limited action in his first appearance of the preseason but looked spry as usual. The main drawback surrounding the 27-year-old running back's 2022 campaign is the looming possibility of a suspension due to an offseason incident in Las Vegas, but with the verdict on that subject looking increasingly likely to be put off until after the season, Kamara could turn into a fantasy draft day steal given his role as the focal point of the Saints offense both on the ground and through the air.
Aug 26, 2022
May play in preseason finale
Kamara appears set to play in Friday's preseason game against the Chargers, Luke Johnson of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
The vast majority of the Saints' top skill-position players are suited up ahead of Friday's 8:00 p.m. ET kickoff, including Jameis Winston, Kamara, Mark Ingram and Jarvis Landry. Assuming Kamara gets some run in the team's exhibition finale, it likely won't be more than a series or two before he hands off the backfield to the likes of Tony Jones and Abram Smith.
Aug 19, 2022
Unlikely to play
Kamara and fellow running back Mark Ingram aren't expected to play in Friday's preseason game against Green Bay, Rod Walker of The Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
The Saints figure to rest most key players, including their top two running backs, both of whom sat out the preseason opener. The real competition is behind Kamara and Ingram for the No. 3 spot -- a role that often came down to special teams under former head coach Sean Payton.
Aug 15, 2022
May not be suspended this year
Kamara's legal case won't necessarily impact his availability this season, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports (per Field Yates of ESPN).
ANALYSIS
Schefter says it's looking "more and more likely" that the assault chargers against Kamara won't lead to a suspension in 2022. That's partially because court dates keep getting pushed back, with the most recent postponement being from Aug. 5 to Sept. 29. It's not clear how much of that, if any, is an intentional strategy by Kamara's lawyers. The case reportedly involves video evidence that shows Kamara punching a man multiple times, but the NFL often prefers to let legal situations play out in court before ruling on a league suspension. It does seem like something that will cost Kamara at least a game or two -- and quite possibly more -- at some point in the not-so-distant future, and he isn't totally out of the woods as far as 2022 is concerned.
Aug 1, 2022
Court date confirmed
Kamara's hearing regarding a battery charge has been rescheduled for Thursday, Sept. 29, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Earlier Monday, Terrell reported that Kamara's imminent court date was pushed back another two months to October, the third time this hearing was delayed. Kamara faces misdemeanor and felony battery charges for an incident in early February in Las Vegas. Until the legal process plays out, the NFL likely will wait to make a decision on any sort of punishment.
Aug 1, 2022
Hearing pushed back again
A hearing for a battery case involving Kamara has been pushed back by at least two months to October or later, ESPN's Katherine Terrell reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara is facing misdemeanor and felony battery charges, with evidence reportedly including video that shows him punching the victim multiple times. The NFL has used the commissioner's exempt list in the past to keep players off the field while legal situations play out, but in this case the league seems more inclined to wait out the process. Kamara is still in danger of being suspended at some point, but it might not be until later this season or even 2023. The hearing has now been pushed back three times.
Jul 1, 2022
No timeline for league ruling
Per Ross Jackson of USA Today, there's no clear timetable for when Kamara could potentially face NFL discipline stemming from his February arrest following an altercation in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
The report suggests that the league will wait for the legal process to wrap up before making any determination. Kamara's next hearing is currently scheduled for early August, Amie Just of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports, though Jackson notes that if the case goes on beyond that juncture, the process could extend into the regular season. There's been speculation that the running back could be facing a six-game suspension from the NFL down the road, and in the event that Kamara misses any time, Mark Ingram, Tony Jones, Dwayne Washington, Devine Ozigbo and Abram Smith are currently next up on the Saints' backfield depth chart.
Apr 25, 2022
Legal hearing postponed
Kamara's legal case pending in Las Vegas has been pushed back to Aug. 1, Amie Just of NOLA.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara is facing two battery-related charges as a result of a February incident at a Las Vegas establishment. It's not clear if this delay in the legal process will impact Kamara's availability for the start of Saints training camp in late July.
Mar 11, 2022
Contract restructured
By converting $10.47 million of what Kamara was in line to be paid this coming season into a signing bonus, the Saints have created $8.37 million in salary cap space for 2022, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Ross Jackson of The USA Today, restructuring the terms of Kamara's deal frees up much-needed cap space for the team as free agency approaches. Jackson also notes that a court hearing related to Kamara's battery case, stemming from the running back's arrest last month following an alleged altercation in Las Vegas, has been pushed back to April 25. The 26-year-old finished the 2021 season with 240 carries for 898 yards and four TDs in 13 games to go along with 47 catches (on 67 targets) for 439 yards and five receiving scores.
Feb 7, 2022
Court date set for March
Kamara is scheduled to make his first appearance in court March 8 following his arrest Sunday in Las Vegas on a charge of battery resulting in substantial bodily harm, David Charns of 8 News Now Las Vegas reports.
ANALYSIS
Following his appearance for the NFC squad in the Pro Bowl on Sunday, Kamara was taken into police custody after his alleged involvement in an incident that occurred at a Las Vegas casino and night club early Saturday morning. Citing the police report from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Mike Triplett of ESPN.com relays that video surveillance at the Cromwell Casino at Drais After Dark Club showed Kamara punching a man approximately eight times before some of the running back's associates stomped the man several more times on the ground. Kamara was released from jail after posting bail Sunday, and his initial court appearance scheduled for Monday was later cancelled. Kamara and the Saints have yet to make a statement about his arrest, and both the team and NFL may wait for the legal process to play out before determining if the running back faces a fine or suspension.
Feb 6, 2022
Arrested on battery charge
Kamara was taken into custody by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department on Sunday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. The running back is the suspect in a battery that occurred in a Las Vegas night club Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Kamara participated in the Pro Bowl earlier in the day Sunday. A press release from the police department indicates that Kamara was taken into custody without incident and booked for battery resulting in substantial bodily harm. The investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
Jan 9, 2022
Tops 150 total yards
Kamara rushed the ball 30 times for 146 yards in Sunday's 30-20 win over Atlanta. He added two receptions for 16 yards.
ANALYSIS
Kamara was the centerpiece of the Saints' offense, particularly after Taysom Hill suffered a foot injury that pushed Trevor Siemian into action. The end result was a career-high 30 rushing attempts for Kamara and his highest yardage total on the ground for the campaign. Kamara relied primarily on volume to produce, though he highlighted his effort with gains of 27 and 13 yards to turn in an efficient performance. The primary thing missing from Kamara's performance was a trip to the end zone, a common theme for the season as he tallied only nine total touchdowns -- 12 fewer than his mark in 2020. The Saints will presumably look to upgrade their offense during the offseason, which would have the chance to benefit Kamara's fantasy outlook from an efficiency perspective.
Jan 2, 2022
Productive against Panthers
Kamara carried the ball 13 times for 32 yards and caught five of six targets for 68 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 18-10 win over the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
It was a rough day for Kamara on the ground, as Taysom Hill ended up leading New Orleans in rushing, but the running back found success through the air and capped his performance with a 12-yard TD grab in the fourth quarter. It's the seventh time this season Kamara has reached triple-digit scrimmage yards in a game, and he could be poised for big numbers again in Week 18 against the Falcons as the Saints try to sneak into the playoffs.
Dec 28, 2021
Held in check
Kamara rushed 13 times for 52 yards while catching two of four targets for seven yards during Monday's 20-3 loss to the Dolphins.
ANALYSIS
Despite the seemingly favorable matchup with Miami, Kamara was not set up to succeed considering he was working with a fourth-string rookie quarterback behind a patchwork offensive line. However, it was still confusing that the Saints didn't feed him the ball more often given the massive struggles New Orleans had throwing the ball with Ian Book. In any case, the entire offense should find easier sledding in Week 17 against Carolina if either of Taysom Hill (COVID-19) or Trevor Siemian (COVID-19) is able to gain medical clearance in time.
Dec 26, 2021
Emergency quarterback
Kamara is the Saints' emergency quarterback Monday night should something happen to Ian Book, Peter Schrager reported on the Fox Sunday morning pregame show.
ANALYSIS
The Saints should have been expected to be creative with Kamara to begin with, so don't be surprised if the Saints roll out a few direct snaps to Kamara in the game.
Dec 19, 2021
Just 31 yards on 13 touches
Kamara was held in check Sunday, recording just 18 yards on 11 carries while catching two of six targets for 13 yards in a 9-0 win over the Buccaneers.
ANALYSIS
The Saints were missing several key players all over its offensive lineup, so Tampa Bay's defense was keyed in on Kamara in this low-scoring matchup. The star tailback looked to be operating at full capacity in his impressive return from a knee injury last week (145 total yards and a touchdown), so this rough outing can't be attributed to poor health. For what its worth, fellow back Mark Ingram didn't fare any better against the Buc's dominant rush defense (nine carries for 10 yards), and no New Orleans player averaged more than 3.0 yards per carry. Kamara's fantasy managers that are moving on in the fantasy playoffs will hope for a bounce-back game against the Dolphins next Monday.
Dec 12, 2021
Carves up Jets in return
Kamara (knee) rushed 27 times for 120 yards and a touchdown while catching four of five targets for 25 yards in Sunday's 30-9 win over the Jets.
ANALYSIS
The Saints had no qualms about feeding Kamara in his first action since Week 9, as he racked up 94 yards on 16 first-half touches, including a 16-yard touchdown run to take a 10-3 lead 3:42 before halftime. Kamara's workload remained steady in the second half, but his bid for a second touchdown from the 1-yard line was stuffed in the fourth quarter, and Taysom Hill took it in himself on the next play. While finding running room will be tougher in Week 15 against the stingy Tampa Bay front, but Kamara's elite receiving ability out of the backfield coupled with his rushing volume will keep him a must-start fantasy option if healthy.
Dec 10, 2021
To take on usual role Sunday
Coach Sean Payton indicated Kamara should be able to handle his typical workload in Sunday's road game against the Jets, Mike Triplett of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
In his return from a four-game absence this weekend, Kamara may be operating out of the backfield without Mark Ingram and Ty Montgomery due to the pair testing positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively. If the preceding comes to pass, Kamara's primary competition for snaps will be special teamer Dwayne Washington, second-year pro Tony Jones and fullback Adam Prentice. Kamara acted as the Saints' lead runner Weeks 1 through 9, when he averaged 22.3 touches for 105 yards from scrimmage per game while scoring seven TDs in eight contests.
Dec 8, 2021
Full practice participant at last
Kamara (knee) was a full practice participant Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Since he first appeared on Saints injury reports back on Nov. 10 due to what was eventually termed an MCL sprain, Kamara has missed four consecutive contests. With a long-awaited return to all activity now in the rearview mirror, the development coincides with Mark Ingram's placement on the reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday due to a positive test for the virus. There's a small chance Ingram gets through the necessary protocols and is cleared to play Sunday at the Jets, but Kamara may have reached full health at a perfect time to take on close to his usual workhorse role. In eight contests prior to the knee injury, Kamara averaged 22.3 touches for 105 yards from scrimmage per game while scoring seven total TDs.
Dec 8, 2021
Likely practicing , could play
Kamara (knee) is expected to practice Wednesday and could return for Sunday's game against the Jets, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
It would be good timing for the Saints after Mark Ingram landed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday afternoon. Kamara last played in a game Nov. 7 against Atlanta (Week 9), with his subsequent absence due to a knee sprain opening up playing time for Ingram, Ty Montgomery and Tony Jones at various points over the past month.
Dec 2, 2021
Sitting out again Thursday
Kamara (knee) is listed as inactive Thursday against the Cowboys.
ANALYSIS
When Kamara was able to receive limited listings on all three Week 13 injury reports, there was a glimmer of hope that he'd be able to see his first game action since Week 9. However, following a report from Ian Rapoport and Jane Slater of NFL Network early Thursday, Kamara was considered unlikely to suit up. Kamara thus will yield the Saints backfield to Mark Ingram, who is back after missing one contest due to swelling in his knee. With Tony Jones a healthy scratch, wide receiver Ty Montgomery, fullback Adam Prentice and special teamer Dwayne Washington are available for any RB reps that don't go to Ingram.
Dec 2, 2021
On track to sit out Week 13
Kamara (knee), who is listed as questionable for Thursday's game against the Cowboys, won't be available to play, Ian Rapoport and Jane Slater of NFL Network report.
ANALYSIS
An official word on Kamara's status won't come until the Saints release their inactive list 90 minutes prior to Thursday's 8:20 p.m. ET kickoff, but fantasy managers should prepare for the star running back to miss a fourth consecutive contest. Heading into Thursday, Kamara appeared to have a decent chance of playing this week after he was listed as a limited participant on practice reports issued Monday through Wednesday, but the Saints may have wanted him to upgrade to full activity before clearing him to return from an MCL sprain. Meanwhile, Mark Ingram practiced fully throughout the week and looks on track to recapture a three-down workhorse role out of the New Orleans backfield after a bout with knee inflammation prevented him from playing in the Saints' Thanksgiving Day loss to the Bills.
Dec 1, 2021
Questionable for Week 13
Kamara (knee) is listed as questionable for Thursday's game against the Cowboys.
ANALYSIS
Kamara maintained limited listings on all three of the Saints' Week 13 injury reports as he attempts to make his way back from an MCL sprain that has forced him to miss the past three contests. At the same time, Mark Ingram (knee) was a full participant Monday through Wednesday and is ready to handle as many backfield reps as needed if Kamara has to sit out a fourth consecutive game. The Saints will reveal Kamara's availability about 90 minutes before Thursday's 8:20 p.m. ET kickoff.
Nov 30, 2021
Another limited showing
Kamara (knee) was limited at Tuesday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Kamara earned the same listing on Monday's injury report, but on a positive note he at least has maintained his activity level on back-to-back days after missing the past three games due to a sprained MCL. Meanwhile, Mark Ingram (knee) again practiced in full Tuesday, putting himself in a better spot to be the Saints' lead runner Thursday against the Cowboys. If Kamara doesn't do enough to be cleared for his first game action since Nov. 7, Ingram will be just that Week 13.
Nov 30, 2021
Practicing again Tuesday
Kamara (knee) is taking part in practice again Tuesday, Katherine Terrell of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara has participated in three days straight, placing him on a path toward rejoining the action Thursday after sitting out the past three games. We should get a better feel for his status when the team releases its official injury report for the big Thursday night showdown with the Cowboys.
Nov 29, 2021
Limited in Monday's practice
Kamara (knee) was a limited participant in Monday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Mike Triplett of ESPN.com previously reported that Kamara was back on the field for the Saints' unofficial practice session Saturday, but Monday marked the first time he appeared on New Orleans' practice report as a limited or full participant since Nov. 17. He missed one game prior to that date and two after due to an MCL sprain, but he could have a realistic shot at putting an end to his three-game absence Thursday against the Cowboys. In order to suit up this week, Kamara may need to maintain at least limited participation in practice sessions Tuesday and Wednesday, and even if he does, there's a chance he ends up ceding more work than normal to Mark Ingram (knee), who practiced fully Monday after joining Kamara on the inactive list for the team's Thanksgiving Day loss to the Bills. Along with the presence of Ingram, Kamara's Week 13 fantasy outlook is further affected by a change at quarterback. Trevor Siemian is expected to move into the backup role to clear the way for the more mobile Taysom Hill, who w
Nov 28, 2021
Practices Sunday
Kamara (knee) took part in the media-access portion of practice Sunday, Mike Triplett of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Sunday's session is unofficial, as the Saints won't release a Week 13 injury report until Monday due to their next game taking place Thursday against the Cowboys. But it's a decent sign that both Kamara and Mark Ingram (knee), who also sat out a Week 12 loss to the Bills, are trending in the right direction. Kamara's presence is particularly notable considering he hadn't practiced since spraining his MCL back in Week 9, missing the Saints' last three games in the process.
Nov 24, 2021
Won't return Thursday
Kamara (knee) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Bills.
ANALYSIS
This news isn't a total shock after Kamara was unable to step foot on the practice field Monday through Wednesday due to his MCL sprain. He'll thus miss a third consecutive contest, likely handing over starting duties to Mark Ingram yet again. However, Ingram sandwiched two limited listings around a DNP on Tuesday's practice report due to a knee issue of his own, leaving him questionable for Thursday. If Ingram is unable to give it a go, Tony Jones is next up on the depth chart, with Dwayne Washington and wide receiver Ty Montgomery in reserve as options out of the Saints backfield.
Nov 24, 2021
Ruled out for Thanksgiving
Kamara (knee) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Bills.
ANALYSIS
The writing was on the wall here after Kamara wasn't seen at Wednesday's final practice ahead of the primetime matchup. The star back will miss a third straight game and set his sights on a return in Week 13 against the Cowboys. Meanwhile, Mark Ingram is questionable for the game with a knee injury, while Tony Jones and Dwayne Washington wait in the wings to take on more of a workload.
Nov 24, 2021
Not seen at practice
Kamara (knee) isn't present for the media-access portion of Wednesday's practice, Amie Just of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara thus seems likely to miss a third straight game when the Saints host the Bills on Thursday night, and now there's some question if fellow RB Mark Ingram (knee) will play. Ingram reportedly was present for the start of Wednesday's practice but then left while media members were still present. Tony Jones and Dwayne Washington are the team's healthy running backs, with the latter predominately a special teams player throughout his time in New Orleans.

Continues to miss practice
The Saints listed Kamara (knee) as a non-participant in Tuesday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Since Tuesday is likely to be the Saints' most rigorous practice session of the week with the team facing a quick turnaround for their Thanksgiving Day game against the Bills, Kamara's inability to take any reps suggests he'll be in line for a third straight absence Thursday. Before giving Kamara a designation this week, the Saints will see what both he and Mark Ingram (knee) are able to do during Wednesday's workout. Ingram wasn't able to take any reps during Tuesday's practice either, leaving Tony Jones and special-teams contributor Dwayne Washington as the healthy backs on the New Orleans roster.
Nov 22, 2021
Not yet practicing
The Saints listed Kamara (knee) as a non-participant on Monday's estimated practice report.
ANALYSIS
While New Orleans didn't hold a formal practice one day after its 40-29 loss to the Eagles, Kamara's estimated listing means that he wouldn't have been on the field if the Saints held a workout. The Saints facing a quick turnaround Week 12 with a Thursday night matchup against the Bills, so Kamara could be hard pressed to put an end to his two-game absence due to an MCL sprain. He hasn't practiced in any capacity since last Wednesday; he was a limited participant that day and then didn't practice either of the next two days, seemingly hinting at a setback. Mark Ingram would be in line to serve as New Orleans' lead back once again if Kamara is ruled out for Thanksgiving Day.
Nov 19, 2021
Ruled out
Kamara (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's game in Philadelphia.
ANALYSIS
Kamara returned to practice Wednesday in limited fashion but then was held out Thursday and Friday. Mark Ingram figures to lead the New Orleans backfield again, though he could have more competition for snaps if Tony Jones (IR/ankle) is moved back to the active roster after returning to practice Wednesday. Last week, Ingram took 18 touches for 108 yards and a score on 85 percent of snaps, while Ty Montgomery left with a finger injury after taking a handful of backfield snaps in the first quarter. Montgomery is out this week, along with Kamara, leaving Ingram, special teamer Dwayne Washington and possibly Jones as the Saints' backfield options.
Nov 19, 2021
Not seen at practice
Kamara (knee) doesn't appear to be practicing Friday, Amie Just of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara returned Wednesday as a limited participant before dropping back to DNP on Thursday. He now seems unlikely to play Sunday against the Eagles, pending the Saints' final injury report Friday afternoon.
Nov 18, 2021
Doesn't practice Thursday
Kamara (knee) didn't practice Thursday, Amie Just of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
The Saints held Kamara out of Week 10 prep and game action due to a sprained MCL, but he seemed to make some progress through the issue by practicing in a limited capacity Wednesday. His downgrade to no activity one day later may be the result of the team managing his reps, but it also could indicate a setback with his health. Without confirmation one way or another, Kamara's situation bears watching as the week goes on, with either Friday's injury report or coach Sean Payton himself touching on his top running back. Mark Ingram is set to lead New Orleans' backfield if Kamara is unable to suit up Sunday at Philadelphia.
Nov 18, 2021
Downgrades to no practice activity
Kamara (knee) isn't present for the open portion of Thursday's practice and will be listed as a non-participant on the Saints' official report, Amie Just of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
After he returned to practice Wednesday as a limited participant, Kamara's absence from the Saints' team workout a day later hints at a possible setback in his recovery from an MCL sprain, which kept him from playing in last week's loss to the Titans. Head coach Sean Payton will likely address Kamara's situation later Thursday or Friday, but at this stage, the star running back looks to be far from a lock to make it back in the lineup for Sunday's game in Philadelphia. Mark Ingram would likely be in store for a three-down role and a good deal of touches as New Orleans' lead back if Kamara is ultimately sidelined for a second straight contest.
Nov 17, 2021
Limited in return to practice
Kamara (knee) practiced in a limited fashion Wednesday, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
One week removed from logging no practice reps before sitting out this past Sunday at Tennessee due to a knee sprain, Kamara got back on the field during the first session of Week 11 prep. It's no surprise that he had a cap on his activity, and he'll now have two more chances to bump up to full before week's end. There was another positive development in the Saints backfield Wednesday with Tony Jones (ankle) returning to practice, thus opening his 21-day window in which to be activated from IR. In any case, if Kamara makes the requisite progress this week and is cleared to play, he'll resume his status as the team's No. 1 RB.
Nov 17, 2021
Returns to practice
Kamara (knee) returned to practice Wednesday, Luke Johnson of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
He'll presumably be a limited participant after missing practice last week and being ruled out for Sunday's eventual loss to the Titans. Even so, Kamara's participation suggests he has a shot to return for the Week 11 matchup with Philadelphia on Sunday.
Nov 12, 2021
Ruled out
Kamara (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Titans, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
A report earlier this week suggested his knee sprain is considered mild, but Kamara nonetheless stands to miss at least one game after sitting out practice Wednesday through Friday. The Saints are left with Mark Ingram as their probable lead back, with special teamer Dwayne Washington and practice-squad members Lamar Miller and Josh Adams available in reserve. Ingram is an intriguing Week 10 fantasy option given the workload potential, while Kamara will hope to make it back next Sunday (Nov. 21) for a Week 11 contest in Philadelphia.
Nov 12, 2021
No return to practice
Kamara (knee) isn't present for the open portion of Friday's practice, Mike Triplett of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
With Kamara seemingly missing a third consecutive practice as he recovers from a mild knee sprain, Mark Ingram will prepare to take over the lead role Sunday in Tennessee. The Saints could still make Kamara a game-time decision and give him another two days to show improvement, but it isn't yet clear if that's what they're thinking. Dwayne Washington is the third tailback on the active roster, while Lamar Miller and Josh Adams are signed to the practice squad but could be promoted Friday or Saturday.
Nov 11, 2021
Idle for another practice
Kamara (knee) didn't participate in Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
With consecutive absences from practice to begin Week 10 prep while he manages a sprained knee, Kamara's status will bear watching heading into the Saints' final workout of the week Friday. Though Kamara's knee injury has been characterized as mild, the Saints may want to see him take part in practice on at least a limited basis to feel good about his chances of playing Sunday against the Titans. Mark Ingram would likely step into a lead role for the Saints in the event Kamara is sidelined for his first game of the season.
Nov 10, 2021
Dealing with mild knee sprain
Kamara was held out of practice due to a knee injury, James Palmer of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara's health concern is considered a mild sprain, per Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football. As a result, the Saints likely are exercising caution with their top skill-position player, but Kamara's status will be one to watch closely as the team continues through Week 10 prep. If Kamara is at all limited this weekend, Mark Ingram likely would be the biggest beneficiary, with Dwayne Washington on hand to aid the backfield.
Nov 10, 2021
Not at practice
Kamara isn't practicing Wednesday, Katherine Terrell of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
It remains to be seen if the star running back is injured, getting rest or missing practice for another reason. Kamara and the Saints head on the road to face Tennessee this Sunday.
Nov 7, 2021
Tops 100 total yards
Kamara rushed 13 times for 50 yards and one touchdown while catching four of seven targets for 54 yards during Sunday's 27-25 loss to the Falcons.
ANALYSIS
Fantasy managers can largely thank the Saints' late comeback bid for Kamara's productive day. Not only was he kept out of the end zone until late in the fourth quarter, but he and Mark Ingram shared the backfield workload almost evenly up until that point. In the end, Kamara's 20 combined targets and carries ended up being just six more than Ingram's, as it's clear that New Orleans is trying to lighten the load for the 5-foot-10 running back who averaged nearly 25 combined targets and carries per week before the Saints traded for Ingram ahead of Week 8. While Kamara will still remain among the busiest running backs in the league even if he continues to cede some work to Ingram, fantasy managers probably shouldn't expect him to return to the gaudy usage he had during the first half of the year.
Oct 31, 2021
Finds pay dirt in upset
Kamara rushed 19 times for 61 yards and one touchdown while catching three of four targets for 15 yards during Sunday's 36-27 win over Tampa Bay.
ANALYSIS
While most teams have avoided testing the Buccaneers' stout run defense, the Saints had no problem giving Kamara the rock despite limited success. Meanwhile, Mark Ingram received just six carries, which he took for 27 yards. It's possible Ingram's role grows as he gets further acclimated with the Saints' current offense, but the Saints' may also lean on the run game with Jameis Winston (knee) potentially sidelined for multiple weeks. Fortunately, a Week 9 matchup with Atlanta is not a daunting matchup for New Orleans regardless of whether Trevor Siemien or Taysom Hill (concussion) gets the start.
Oct 25, 2021
Shines as pass-catcher in MNF win
Kamara rushed 20 times for 51 yards and caught 10 of 11 targets for 128 yards and a touchdown in Monday's 13-10 win over Seattle.
ANALYSIS
Kamara became the fastest man in NFL history to reach 3,000 rushing yards and 3,000 receiving yards, doing so in his 66th game. He topped 100 receiving yards in the first half alone, highlighted by a 13-yard touchdown catch in the final minute before halftime. Neither offense got much going on a rainy Seattle evening, but Kamara nonetheless willed the Saints to victory while no teammate eclipsed 40 scrimmage yards. The versatile running back will likely continue to do most of his damage as a pass-catcher in Week 8, as running room will be hard to come by against the stout Tampa Bay front.
Oct 3, 2021
Career-high 26 carries
Kamara rushed 26 times for 120 yards during Sunday's 27-21 overtime loss to the Giants.
ANALYSIS
After entering the year with one game with at least 20 carries, Kamara has now topped that mark three times through four weeks with Sunday's 26 carries representing a career high. Now that Tony Jones (ankle) is possibly set to miss time, Kamara probably won't be losing carries to anyone anytime soon. While his relatively low usage in the passing game (by his standards) isn't ideal, the fact that Kamara has room to grow in that area could be viewed as a positive for his upside in games moving forward, starting with a Week 5 road matchup against Washington.
Sep 26, 2021
Featured prominently in victory
Kamara rushed 24 times for 89 yards and caught three of four targets for 29 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 28-13 win over the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
Kamara struggled to find running room against a much-improved Patriots defense, but the volume combined with his usual contributions as a receiver produced a solid line. It's been a bit of a slow start for the dual-threat back in 2021, as his 3.3 yards per carry and 6.2 yards per catch are both the lowest of his career. A drop off was to be expected following Drew Brees' retirement, but fantasy managers are hoping to see some improvement considering the draft capital it cost to acquire the star player. Kamara will look to take advantage of a favorable matchup against the Giants next Sunday.
Sep 19, 2021
Stifled by Panthers
Kamara carried the ball eight times for only five yards and caught four of six targets for 25 yards in Sunday's 26-7 loss to the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
The anticipated showdown between Kamara and Christian McCaffrey never materialized as the Saints' offense as a whole has no success moving the ball. The New Orleans running back still led the team in catches, targets and, incredibly, scrimmage yards with a mere 30. Things may not get easier for Kamara in Week 3 as he looks to rebound, as the Saints will be on the road in New England.
Sep 12, 2021
Gets 23 touches
Kamara rushed 20 times for 83 yards while catching three of four targets for eight yards and one touchdown during Sunday's 38-3 victory over Green Bay.
ANALYSIS
While Kamara was ultimately held in check by his standards, he was clearly the centerpiece of the offense as Jameis Winston played off him to throw five touchdowns. Not only did Kamara secure one of them on a tough screen pass near the goal line, the running back also picked up a number of key first downs along the way that kept possessions alive. Meanwhile, Tony Jones played a smaller role than Latavius Murray did the past couple of years, as nearly half of his 11 carries were at the end of the fourth quarter as the Saints were running out the clock. With one of the highest usage rates in the league, Kamara should remain a top fantasy play on the road in Week 2 against Carolina.
Sep 1, 2021
Game moved to Jacksonville
Kamara and the Saints will play their Week 1 game against the Packers in Jacksonville, Amie Just of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
It's a change that benefits Green Bay, with the Saints essentially losing a home game at the Superdome, instead playing outdoors in what likely will be hot weather. Kamara is still a strong RB1 play in all formats, but it is possible he plays a few less snaps than usual if it's a hot day in Jacksonville.
Aug 27, 2021
Saturday's game cancelled
In a statement released Friday, it was announced that Saturday's scheduled preseason game between Kamara and Saints and Cardinals has been canceled due to the impending impact of Hurricane Ida.
ANALYSIS
Per ESPN's Mike Triplett, the contest was previously scheduled to kick off seven hours earlier than originally scheduled Saturday, but a decision was subsequently made to cancel the Saints' preseason finale. The team is next slated to face Green Bay in Week 1 of the regular season.
Aug 27, 2021
Game moved up to 1 p.m. ET
Kamara and the Saints are now scheduled to faced the Cardinals at 1 p.m. ET on Saturday in their preseason finale, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
The game has been moved up seven hours to avoid a possible hurricane headed toward New Orleans. Kamara didn't play in the first two preseason games and isn't likely to play in the third, but he seems to have enjoyed a healthy summer while operating as the centerpiece of an offense that won't have WR Michael Thomas (ankle) for the early part of the season. Kamara should see plenty of targets from Jameis Winston, who coach Sean Payton has named as his starter for the Sept. 12 opener against Green Bay.
Aug 23, 2021
Unlikely to play Monday
Kamara isn't expected to play in Monday's preseason game against the Jaguars, John Hendrix of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Coach Sean Payton revealed late last week that certain unnamed starters who didn't play in the exhibition opener would make an appearance in preseason Week 2. Kamara was among those players, but because he isn't suited up in pregame warmups he doesn't seem like a candidate to take the field Monday. Payton is on the brink of revealing the Saints' starting quarterback for Week 1, and when that decision is made a key skill player like Kamara likely won't risk getting nicked up in the preseason finale Saturday versus the Cardinals.
Aug 20, 2021
Candidate to play Monday
Kamara may play in Monday's preseason contest against the Jaguars, Amie Just of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
The Saints kept Kamara on the sideline in the team's first exhibition, but coach Sean Payton noted Friday that certain starters who didn't play in that game will suit up Monday. Kamara is the top name among those candidates, and if he does he'll be working behind and with Jameis Winston, who is getting the start at quarterback over Taysom Hill. Considering Kamara doesn't need much run, he likely won't play much more than New Orleans' first possession.
Aug 14, 2021
Not dressed Saturday
Kamara won't play in Saturday's preseason game at Baltimore, Katherine Terrell of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
If he does play this preseason, it likely will be just one brief appearance. Kamara is locked in as a first-round fantasy pick, and while there may now be some questions about the quality of the Saints offense, there's no doubt who will be the centerpiece of it come Week 1.
Jul 8, 2021
Ready for training camp
Teammate Latavius Murray said Kamara looked like his usual self at June minicamp, Sam Shannon of the Saints' official website reports. "Alvin being Alvin," Murray said. "The same player that he's been over the last few years, and I'm sure he'll continue to be."
ANALYSIS
Kamara was under the spotlight last summer, eventually signing a five-year, $75 million extension one day before the Saints' season opener. Despite dealing with a hip issue around that same time, he went on to play 15 straight games before missing Week 17 on the COVID-19 list, finishing the regular season with career highs for rushing yards (932), total yards (1,688) and touchdowns (21). A repeat of that last number would be a tough ask under any conditions, and there's also some concern that Kamara could lose targets/catches in the post-Brees era, especially if dual-threat Taysom Hill beats out Jameis Winston for the starting QB job. On the other hand, Kamara is one of the best running backs in the league, and the Saints return all five starters to what's consistently been a top-10 offensive line. Even with a degree of uncertainty for a second straight offseason, Kamara's floor/ceiling combination makes him a solid choice in the first half of the first round of fantasy drafts.
Jan 17, 2021
Nets over 100 yards in loss
Kamara rushed 18 times for 85 yards and caught three of six targets for 20 yards in Sunday's NFC divisional round loss to the Buccaneers.
ANALYSIS
Kamara reached the century mark in combined yards in consecutive playoff performances, but he was unable to hit pay dirt this time around as the Saints ultimately fell to their division rivals. The dual-threat back finished the regular season with a combined 1,688 yards and a whopping 21 total touchdowns, both of which were new career highs. There is no questioning Kamara's talent and status as one of the game's best fantasy performers, but quarterback Drew Brees' retirement decision this upcoming offseason may affect the superstar back. Even with Brees' steep drop-off in arm strength and overall effectiveness in his age-42 season, he still boosted Kamara's value as a receiving threat on short and intermediate routes out of the backfield. In the four games that Brees missed this season, Kamara averaged just 2.5 receptions, 12.8 receiving yards and no touchdowns with backup and potential replacement Taysom Hill. The Saints could go in another direction whenever the first-ballot Hall of Famer decides to hang 'e
Jan 10, 2021
Tops 100 yards in Sunday's win
Kamara rushed 23 times for 99 yards and a touchdown and secured both of his targets for 17 yards in the Saints' 21-9 win over the Bears on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
The All-Pro back failed to get much going on the ground, with a quarter of his production coming on a 25-yard gainer. Still, he chipped away at the Bears defense all afternoon with a robust 23 carries and finished the contest with over 100 scrimmage yards and a touchdown. Kamara will face a tough test in next week's NFC divisional round when New Orleans hosts a Tampa Bay defense that allowed a league-low 60 rushing yards per contest in the regular season.
Jan 9, 2021
Activated off COVID list
Kamara (illness) was activated off the reserve/COVID-19 list Saturday, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara seemed to indicate via his official Twitter account earlier in the week that this would be a possibility, so the official designation isn't entirely surprising. The star back will miss just one game after testing positive for COVID-19 and thus is set to play in the team's wild-card matchup against the Bears.
Jan 7, 2021
Expects to play Sunday
Kamara (illness) posted a message on his official Twitter account Thursday that appears to indicate he's on track for Sunday's wild-card round against the Bears.
ANALYSIS
Kamara missed the Saints' season-finale against the Panthers after being placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list as a result of testing positive for the virus, and though he currently remains on the reserve list, it appears that the star running back expects to be available versus Chicago. Sunday morning appears to represent the earliest possible date that Kamara could return to the team, given that he would not have been eligible to play had the Saints' wild-card game been scheduled for Saturday, so a final word on his status will likely still come down to the wire. Latavius Murray would stand to handle the bulk of New Orleans' backfield reps if Kamara were unable to gain full clearance.
Jan 1, 2021
Could return for wild-card game
Kamara's eligibility for the wild-card round of the playoffs could depend on whether the Saints are scheduled to play Saturday (Jan. 9) or Sunday (Jan. 10), Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
With two tests for COVID-19 coming back positive, Kamara can't play in Sunday's game against the Panthers. He won't be eligible for a game until 10 days after Dec. 31 -- when he initially tested positive -- and that's only if he remains asymptomatic and receives medical clearance. There is some chance the Saints won't even play in the first round of the playoffs, but it requires three games going in their favor to create a three-way tie at 12-4 atop the NFC.
Jan 1, 2021
Out this week, could miss playoff game
Kamara has been placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list and won't play in Sunday's game against the Panthers, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
With multiple tests coming back positive, Kamara may not be eligible to play in the wild-card round of the playoffs. There is still some chance for the Saints to get a bye week, so they'll likely give Latavius Murray a sizable workload this Sunday against the Panthers. Murray put up back-to-back games with triple-digit yardage and multiple TDs when Kamara missed Weeks 7 and 8 of 2019.
Jan 1, 2021
Tests positive for coronavirus
Kamara tested positive for COVID-19 and now is waiting on results from a follow-up test, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
If the second test also comes back positive, Kamara will be ruled out for Sunday's game against the Panthers and unlikely to return for the wild-card round of the playoffs. Latavius Murray will fill in as the lead back if Kamara misses any games. Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports that the star running back hasn't shown any symptoms and says he's feeling healthy, perhaps giving the Saints some hope the initial test was a false positive.
Dec 25, 2020
Performance for the ages in win
Kamara rushed 22 times for 155 yards and six touchdowns while also bringing three of five targets for 17 yards in the Saints' 52-33 win over the Vikings on Friday.
ANALYSIS
As the eye-popping stat line indicates, Kamara put together a record-setting performance for a national audience that will go into NFL annals as one of the most prolific in league history. In fact, only one other player -- the legendary Ernie Nevers back in 1929 -- had ever scored six touchdowns in a game before Kamara accomplished the feat Friday. The fourth-year pro also set a new single-game career high in rushing yardage for good measure while scoring from 40, one, five, six, seven and three yards out, with at least one touchdown in each quarter. Kamara will now look to follow up the spectacular effort by gaining the 68 rushing yards he needs to reach the 1,000-yard mark for the first time when he faces the Panthers in a Week 17 road matchup.
Dec 20, 2020
Catches TD pass in Brees' return
Kamara carried the ball 11 times for 54 yards and caught three of six targets for 40 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 32-29 loss to Kansas City.
ANALYSIS
With Drew Brees back under center instead of Taysom Hill, the Saints' offensive scheme returned to normal, and Kamara hauled in his first receiving TD since Week 10 -- Brees' last appearance before injuring his ribs. No matter who's been at QB he's been productive however, topping 90 combined yards in three straight games, and he's now reached 1,500 scrimmage yards on the season for the third time in his career. Kamara will look to keep rolling in Week 16's clash with a Vikings defense that just surrendered 162 yards and two touchdowns to David Montgomery.
Dec 18, 2020
Set up for big game
Kamara figures to be busy during Sunday's game against Kansas City, playing in a Saints offense with Drew Brees (ribs) at quarterback and Michael Thomas (ankle) out of the lineup, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara had a rushing touchdown and seven receptions in last week's loss to the Eagles, but he otherwise put up mediocre numbers with Taysom Hill at quarterback. Kamara averaged 14.2 PPR points in Hill's four starts, down from 27.4 per game in nine appearances with Brees under center. Kamara was even better during a six-game stretch when the Saints had Brees but not Thomas, averaging 28.7 PPR points and 9.7 targets. The dual-threat back returns to high-end RB1 status now that Brees is back, facing a Chiefs defense that's given up the eighth-most rushing yards (102.7 per game) and eighth-most receiving yards (67.6) to running backs.
Dec 13, 2020
Productive in loss
Kamara carried the ball 11 times for 50 yards and a touchdown and caught seven of 10 targets for 44 yards in Sunday's 24-21 loss to the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
For the first time since Taysom Hill replaced Drew Brees (ribs) under center, Kamara was featured heavily as a receiver, but he still fell short of 100 scrimmage yards for the sixth straight game. He could see high target volume again in Week 15, regardless of who's at quarterback, as the Saints host Patrick Mahomes and the high-octane Kansas City offense.
Dec 6, 2020
Breaks off long run, scores TD
Kamara registered 88 rushing yards and one touchdown on 15 carries, adding two receptions for nine yards during Sunday's 21-16 win against Atlanta.
ANALYSIS
Kamara's passing-game upside has been severely depleted without Drew Brees (ribs) available at quarterback, as he's now been held under 10 receiving yards in three consecutive games with Taysom Hill as the starter. A 37-yard run in the second-quarter helped spark Kamara's afternoon, while an 11-yard TD scamper at the 9:01 mark of the third quarter sealed a solid fantasy day from the three-time Pro Bowler. Even with the score, Kamara's recent fantasy production falls short of typical lofty heights. A Week 14 return for Brees seems possible, however, a welcomed announcement for those with investment in Kamara.
Dec 4, 2020
Good to go Sunday
Kamara (foot) doesn't have a designation for Sunday's game at Atlanta.
ANALYSIS
After being listed as limited on the first two practice reports of Week 13, Kamara capped the week with a full season, paving the way for him to suit up Sunday. With Taysom Hill directing the offense in place of Drew Brees (ribs) the last two games, Kamara has been splitting the backfield reps with Latavius Murray, compiling 25 touches for 97 yards from scrimmage and one TD to the latter's 34-211-2 line. It'll be interesting if Kamara will be able to swing the pendulum in his favor this weekend.
Dec 3, 2020
Puts in another limited practice
Kamara (foot) practiced in a limited fashion Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Kamara has put together back-to-back limited sessions as he continues to deal with a foot injury, an issue that has contained him to less than 50 percent of the offensive snaps over the last two games. During that span, he's totaled 25 touches for 97 yards from scrimmage and one TD, while Latavius Murray has gone off for 34-211-2, respectively. The breakdown between Kamara and Murray may be the Saints' reality until the former gets past his current health concern.
Dec 2, 2020
Limited by foot injury
Kamara (foot) was listed as limited on Wednesday's practice report.
ANALYSIS
Kamara continues to manage a foot injury, which has resulted in less than 50 percent of the snaps on offense in back-to-back games. He's totaled 25 touches for 97 yards from scrimmage and one TD during that stretch, while Latavius Murray has accounted for 34 touches, 211 total yards and two TDs. It remains to be seen when Kamara will regain the majority of RB snaps for the Saints, but his availability for game days doesn't seem to be in question.
Nov 29, 2020
Touches reduced in big win
Kamara registered 54 rushing yards on 11 carries, also hauling in one of two targets for minus-two receiving yards during Sunday's 31-3 win against the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
New Orleans jumped out to a 17-0 halftime lead, allowing coach Sean Payton the luxury of reducing his Pro-Bowl running back's workload. Kamara has averaged just 10.3 rush attempts per game over the past four weeks, with each contest resulting in a New Orleans win by at least 14 points. He's only had more than 13 carries in a game twice all season, granted, but his receiving production has certainly taken a hit the past two weeks. He has just one catch over a pair of Taysom Hill starts. With Drew Brees as his starting quarterback Weeks 1 through 10, Kamara averaged 7.4 receptions and 72 receiving yards per game. Possibly without Brees until Week 15, Kamara enters a Week 13 matchup against a Falcons defense that is tied for the third-most receiving TDs allowed to opposing backs (four).
Nov 27, 2020
Good to go
Kamara (foot) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game in Denver.
ANALYSIS
The Saints have limited Kamara's practice workloads while he deals with a foot injury, but there was never any question he'd be ready for Sunday. He had his worst fantasy performance of the season in Taysom Hill's first start at quarterback, but Kamara did still score a touchdown to avoid a total dud.
Nov 26, 2020
Puts in limited showing Thursday
Kamara (foot) was listed as limited on Thursday's injury report.
ANALYSIS
While Kamara has yet to elevate to full activity this week, there's not much worry about his availability for Sunday's game at Denver, whose defense has conceded 132.1 yards from scrimmage per game and eight touchdowns to running backs through 10 contests.
Nov 25, 2020
Logs limited practice
Kamara (foot) was limited at Wednesday's practice, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
For the third time in four weeks, the Saints are capping Kamara's practice reps in some form. During that three-game stretch, he tallied 42 touches for 192 yards and five touchdowns, bringing him to 12 scores in 10 contests this season. Kamara will aim to bump up to full participation by the end of the week.
Nov 22, 2020
One TD, but no catches Week 11
Kamara registered 45 rushing yards and one touchdown on 13 carries, and he was unable to haul in his lone target during Sunday's 24-9 win against the Falcons.
ANALYSIS
Kamara notched a three-yard TD run with 1:46 to go in the first half, but Taysom Hill sapped the running back's value by providing New Orleans' other two rushing scores on the afternoon -- both coming from inside Atlanta's 10-yard line. It will be worth monitoring the three-time Pro Bowler's passing-game involvement moving forward, as he had registered an incredible 7.4 receptions per game with Drew Brees (ribs) as his starting quarterback. Kamara remains an all-world talent, but the Saints are simply not operating the same offense with Hill under center. A foot injury also hampered Kamara during the practice week, providing an alternative explanation for his reduced workload. Next is a matchup against the Broncos, who have allowed just 45 receptions and one receiving TDs to opposing backs this season.
Nov 20, 2020
Removed from injury report
Kamara (foot) will play in Sunday's game against the Falcons, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara returned to practice Friday as a full participant after missing the first two sessions of the week. The Saints are expected to start Taysom Hill at quarterback, with Drew Brees (thumb) officially ruled out for at least three games. The offense likely will feature more run plays in Brees' absence, though it could be Hill rather than Kamara who gets the extra rush attempts.
Nov 19, 2020
Doesn't practice Thursday
Kamara (foot) was a non-participant at Thursday's practice, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara was absent from the start of practice both Wednesday and Thursday, but after being limited in the first session he didn't log any reps at all in the most recent one. Fortunately for Kamara, he has one more practice to prove his health ahead of Sunday's contest against the Falcons. If the Saints ultimately decide to rest Kamara, Latavius Murray is next up for work out of the backfield.
Nov 19, 2020
Not seen at practice
Kamara (foot) wasn't spotted at the portion of Thursday's practice open to the media, Amie Just of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara kicked off Wednesday's session in a similar fashion, but he still received a 'limited' tag once the Saints released their first Week 11 injury report. Thursday's report ultimately will reveal whether or not he was able to practice.
Nov 18, 2020
Nursing foot injury
Kamara (foot) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Kamara briefly appeared in danger of missing Wednesday's session entirely, as Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports that he missed the portion of practice open to the media, so it's relieving to see that the star running back got on the field in at least a limited capacity. The Saints are preparing to roll without Drew Brees (chest) under center for at least two weeks, and Tre'Quan Smith (concussion) could be in danger of missing Sunday's divisional contest against the Falcons, so Kamara may see a chance to take on an even larger offensive role than normal if he's able return to full health.
Nov 18, 2020
Not spotted at practice
Kamara (undisclosed) was not present at the portion of Friday's practice open to the media, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
The Saints are missing two key players at Wednesday's practice, with both Kamara and Drew Brees (chest) sidelined. Brees is set to miss at least two weeks due to the severity of his injuries, but reason for Kamara's absence may not be revealed until the team's first injury report of the week is released.
Nov 15, 2020
Scores three TDs against 49ers
Kamara carried eight times for 15 yards and two touchdowns while adding seven catches (on eight targets) for 83 yards and an additional touchdown during Sunday's 27-13 win over the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
Kamara averaged just 1.9 yards per carry against a tough San Francisco defensive front but was excellent yet again as a receiver while leading the team in targets, catches and receiving yards. He scored two short touchdowns in the second quarter and later added another to give him 11 for the season. Although Kamara hasn't been quite as effective with his rushes this season as he has in years past, his efficacy as a pass catcher and near the goal line has him among the top fantasy running backs. He could take on an even larger role in the coming weeks if Drew Brees (ribs) is sidelined, with his next chance to do so coming Sunday against the Falcons.
Nov 9, 2020
TD salvages modest production
Kamara rushed nine times for 40 yards and a touchdown, adding five receptions (six targets) for nine yards in Sunday's 38-3 win over Tampa Bay.
ANALYSIS
The Saints went up big on the Buccaneers early and did not look back. Drew Brees spread the ball around to a career-high 12 receivers, which is part of the reason Kamara only received 14 touches. The lopsided game script allowed New Orleans to milk the clock in the second half, and they used the bruising Latavius Murray (10 carries for 39 yards) to accomplish that while keeping Kamara healthy. The 25-year-old was averaging 10.1 receptions per game prior to Sunday's contest, but the return of star wideout Michael Thomas (five receptions for 51 yards) could cut into the dual-threat back's target share down the stretch. That said, Kamara will remain a focal part of New Orleans' offense both as a rusher and a receiving threat out of the backfield heading into a soft matchup against the 49ers on Sunday.
Nov 5, 2020
Practices in full Thursday
Kamara (foot) practiced fully Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Kamara made a surprise appearance on Wednesday's injury report, being listed with what was termed a bone bruise in his foot. He later clarified the reason for his limited practice, telling John Sigler of USA Today, "You ever stub your toe on the corner of a bedpost or something?" By elevating to a full participant one day later, Kamara has proved that the issue isn't serious and should be ready for his usual volume Sunday at Tampa Bay, whose Bucs contained him to a season-low 67 yards from scrimmage to go with two TDs back in Week 1.
Nov 4, 2020
Listed as limited Wednesday
Kamara (foot) was listed as limited on Wednesday's injury report.
ANALYSIS
Kamara was absent from the portion of the session open to the media, but he must have got in some work after doors closed for the running back to receive a 'limited' tag. The issue is considered a bone bruise in his foot, which he clarified isn't serious. Speaking to John Sigler of USA Today, Kamara said, "You ever stub your toe on the corner of a bedpost or something? That's kind of what I'm dealing with." Kamara also noted he intends to participate in Thursday's practice, so there doesn't seem to be too much worry regarding his ability to play. Still, the next two days of work will be telling for his odds to suit up Sunday at Tampa Bay.
Nov 4, 2020
Tending to bruised foot
Kamara was absent from Wednesday's practice, Amie Just of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports. According to Mike Triplett of ESPN.com, Kamara has a bone bruise in his foot that isn't deemed to be serious.
ANALYSIS
Kamara has been a force this season, accruing at least 100 yards from scrimmage in six consecutive games. That said, he hasn't reached the end zone in three straight, and now he's tending to a foot issue. Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football noted Kamara is merely getting some rest at the moment, but his situation will need to be monitored as the week goes on to ensure he's available Sunday night at Tampa Bay.
Nov 1, 2020
Big day as receiver
Kamara carried the ball 12 times for 67 yards and caught nine of 13 targets for 96 yards in Sunday's 26-23 overtime win over the Bears.
ANALYSIS
Without Michael Thomas (hamstring) and Emmanuel Sanders (COVID) in the lineup once again, Kamara was the favorite option for Drew Brees, leading the Saints in receptions, receiving yards and targets in addition to being the team's leading rusher on the afternoon. As was the case last week, however, he was kept out of the end zone, with Jared Cook and Taysom Hill catching Brees' TD passes in this one. Kamara has amassed triple-digit scrimmage yards in six straight games, but he faces a tough challenge next week against a Buccaneers defense that held him to 67 combined yards -- albeit with two two touchdowns -- back in Week 1.
Oct 25, 2020
Garners 148 total yards in win
Kamara rushed 14 times for 83 yards and brought in all eight targets for 65 yards in the Saints' 27-24 win over the Panthers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
With Michael Thomas (ankle/hamstring) and Emmanuel Sanders (illness) both out of action, Kamara had significantly elevated fantasy expectations heading into the contest. He certainly delivered a strong all-around performance, albeit one that may have fallen short of the higher range of outcomes one would have envisioned with his aforementioned pair of teammates out of action. Kamara did tie Marquez Calloway for the team lead in receptions and checked in second in receiving yards, and he tied his season best in rushing yards while hitting the eight-catch threshold for the fifth time in six contests. Kamara will look to continue offering similar production in a Week 8 battle against the Bears that Sanders is already slated to miss and that Thomas reportedly could also sit out.
Oct 12, 2020
Nearly 120 scrimmage yards
Kamara rushed 11 times for 45 yards and caught eight of his 10 targets for 74 yards in Monday night's 30-27 overtime win against the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Kamara posted his second-lowest rushing total while not scoring for the first time through five games this season. The tailback also dropped a couple catchable passes, but Kamara's total of eight receptions nonetheless made for another productive performance through the air. In fact, compared to just two such rushing outings, Kamara has topped 70 receiving yards on three occasions thus far. On the back of almost 120 scrimmage yards Monday, the dual-threat dynamo now enters New Orleans' Week 6 bye.
Oct 4, 2020
Scores seventh TD in win
Kamara rushed 19 times for 83 yards and a touchdown and caught three of four targets for 36 yards in Sunday's 35-29 win over the Lions.
ANALYSIS
Kamara tied the game at 14 apiece with a one-yard touchdown in the second quarter, but he took a back seat to Latavius Murray (two rushing touchdowns) and Tre'Quan Smith (two receiving touchdowns). Murray finished with 14 carries to Kamara's 19 as the Saints continued to employ a run-heavy approach in Michael Thomas' (ankle) absence. With seven touchdowns through four games, Kamara should remain locked in as an RB1 at home against the Chargers in Week 5, regardless of Thomas' status.
Oct 4, 2020
Game slated to proceed
The reported positive COVID-19 test of one of Kamara's teammates was re-run and came back negative, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
As a result, the Saints and Lions remain slated to play Sunday at 1:00 ET. Kamara is thus in line to start at running back for New Orleans in Week 4.
Oct 4, 2020
Potentially exposed to COVID-19
Kamara was one of four players who sat near Michael Burton, who tested positive for COVID-19, on the plane ride to Detroit on Saturday, NBC Sports Pro Football Talk reports. He's among seven players who underwent supplemental COVID-19 testing.
ANALYSIS
The Saints learned late Saturday that Burton tested positive after arriving in Detroit. Kamara and seven other players who were near Burton are awaiting test results, according to the report. With the news of Burton's positive test, it's possible that Sunday's game between the Saints and Lions could be postponed to Monday or Tuesday, or moved past Week 4.
Sep 28, 2020
Monster receiving performance
Kamara rushed just six times for 58 yards but corralled 13 receptions (14 targets) for 139 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 37-30 loss to the Packers.
ANALYSIS
Kamara did his best Michael Thomas (ankle) impression with his teammate forced to sit this one out due to injury. The dynamic back did most of his damage after the catch, including a 52-yard touchdown scamper in which he broke four tackles after receiving the ball near the line of scrimmage. After a a down year slowed by injury in 2019, Kamara is looking more like the top-five fantasy player we saw in his first two seasons in the NFL. The 25-year-old became just the second player in NFL history to rush for three touchdowns and catch three touchdowns through his team's first three games (per ESPN). There is a chance that Thomas returns for Week 4's matchup against the Lions, but if he is forced to sit out, Kamara should be in line to post WR1 numbers again after averaging 11.5 receptions and 117 receiving yards in the two games sans Thomas.
Sep 21, 2020
Two touchdowns in defeat
Kamara rushed 13 times for 79 yards and two touchdowns in Monday night's 34-24 loss to the Raiders. He also caught all nine of his targets for 95 yards.
ANALYSIS
Kamara was dynamic in the absence of top wideout Michael Thomas, as he led the Saints in all major receiving categories while benefitting from the team trailing most of the second half. The tailback also dazzled on the ground, improving greatly on his mere 16 rushing yards in Week 1. Just like in the season opener, however, Kamara again scored twice, with Monday's scores both coming from inside of five yards. As one of the league's most dangerous playmakers, Kamara should remain a big threat whether or not Thomas is available in Week 3 versus the Packers, but he sports extra upside in the passing game if his teammate is sidelined again.
Sep 13, 2020
Finds end zone twice in win
Kamara carried the ball 12 times for 16 yards and a touchdown and caught five of eight targets for 51 yards and a second TD in Sunday's 34-23 win over the Buccaneers.
ANALYSIS
The running back celebrated his new contract extension in style, finding the end zone twice in a 90-second span during the second quarter to give the Saints a lead they wouldn't relinquish. Kamara's overall yardage total was below his usual standards, but he could gain a lot more real estate in Week 2 against a Raiders defense that got gashed for 134 scrimmage yards and two TDs by Christian McCaffrey in its opener.
Sep 12, 2020
Also locks in massive extension
Kamara signed a five-year, $75 million extension Saturday which includes just over $34 million in guarantees, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
The move comes only seconds after Vikings running back Dalvin Cook reportedly agreed to a five-year extension in the range of $62 million. It's a massive windfall for Kamara given the running back market in past seasons, although with a number of major backs already locked in to new deals, it makes sense why the Saints were so aggressive in re-signing its star running back. Kamara missed multiple practices during the latter stages of training camp with a minor back issue, one which was reportedly perceived as a holdout of sorts, but that was quickly denied by the running back according to Mike Triplett of ESPN.com. Expect the newly minted $75 million man to be a major fantasy asset Week 1 in a major divisional tilt against the Buccaneers.
Sep 8, 2020
Extension on tap
Kamara and the Saints are "extremely close" to coming to terms on a contract extension, which player and team are expected to finalize before New Orleans' season opener Sunday versus the Buccaneers, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Heading into the final year of his rookie deal in 2020, Kamara's contract status has been a hot topic in training camp, though the running back himself indicated that his recent four-day unexcused absence from practice wasn't due to any dissatisfaction with his current deal. In any case, a long-term deal with the Saints would erase any lingering concern about Kamara entertaining a holdout or being traded ahead of Week 1, a development that would likely have many fantasy managers feeling better about the first-round pick they invested into the 25-year-old. Kamara is on track to continue heading the Saints' ground game in 2020 while serving as one of the NFL's most prolific receivers out of the backfield, and he'll once again have the luxury of working behind a top-tier offensive line.
Sep 7, 2020
Denies notion of holdout
Kamara said "I ain't never held out in my life" when asked Monday about his recent four-day unexcused absence from practice, Mike Triplett of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara avoided questions regarding his negotiations with the Saints about a new contract, affirming that his focus is on Sunday's divisional tilt against the Buccaneers. Additionally, coach Sean Payton said he's "confident that at some point we'll get this [contract] done," but he declined to offer any further details. It doesn't appear as though the three-time Pro Bowler is entertaining the idea of any sort of holdout as he enters the final year of his rookie deal. It has also been reported that Kamara sought treatment for a minor back issue during his previous absence, though he's now resumed fully participating in practice.
Sep 2, 2020
Tended to minor back issue
Kamara, who returned to practice Wednesday, recently had an injection to help calm some joint inflammation in his back,Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Per the report, the issue is "not considered a big deal at all," a notion supported by Kamara's return to work Wednesday. Assuming his back doesn't flare up again, the main story line regarding Kamara going forward will be the state of his contract negations. On that topic, Field Yates of ESPN relays via coach Sean Payton that the team is "actively negotiating a contract with (the running back) and his agent" and is "focused on him being a part of (the game) plan for Week 1."
Sep 2, 2020
Back at practice
Kamara returned to practice Wednesday, Amie Just of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
The Saints' top running back -- who is looking for a new deal -- didn't participate in the team's last three practice sessions, but as expected, he returned to the field Wednesday. Meanwhile, ESPN's Mike Triplett notes that following a "rift in the negotiations," the two sides "are not that far apart" on a long-term contract extension for Kamara. While it was previously assumed that Kamara's absences were tied to his contract situation, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler adds that the 2017 third-rounder has been receiving treatment for a minor back issue of late. Though a trade still can't be entirely ruled out, things seemed to have settled down to the point that it appears probable that Kamara will be on the field for the Saints in their regular-season opener.
Sep 2, 2020
Making progress toward extension
Kamara and the Saints are "not far apart" in contract negotiations, according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com.
ANALYSIS
Kamara has quickly become the center of attention in the NFL, with his absence from practice initially attributed to an epidural injection in his back but then revealed to be unexcused. The Saints can fine him up to $200,000 for the absences, so he'll return to practice Wednesday while his agent continues negotiations for a contract extension. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network believes the gap between the two sides isn't all that large, noting that the recent fines can be cancelled out by the new contract. Jeff Duncan of The Athletic reports the Saints are open to a trade and would want a first-round pick in return, though Duncan also acknowledges that the team's preference is to work out a long-term deal with Kamara.
Sep 1, 2020
Will be fined for absence
Kamara will be fined $200,000 for his unexcused absences through the last four days of practice, Josina Anderson of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara's absence was attributed to an epidural shot in his back by Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, which seemed to put the blame on an injury, but the fact that he's being fined confirms that his days off were unexcused by the team. The 25-year-old is expected to rejoin teammates on the field Wednesday, and Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that Kamara and the team will continue to discuss a potential new contract.
Sep 1, 2020
Plans to practice Wednesday
Kamara is expected to return to practice Wednesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara has not participated in practice since Friday due to a contract-related dispute, so if he does rejoin teammates Wednesday it could indicate that he and the team have made some progress in talks. The star running back's evident decision to resume practicing comes following a report by Josina Anderson of ESPN that the Saints would be open to trading Kamara if the two sides can't agree on a long-term deal.
Sep 1, 2020
Potentially being shopped
The Saints are open to trading Kamara, Josina Anderson reports.
ANALYSIS
The news from Anderson is purely speculative at this point, but given Kamara's recent "contract-related" absences from Saints practice, it's certainly a situation to monitor closely. If Kamara was traded, Latavius Murray would likely vault into a starting role, with pass-catching specialist Ty Montgomery backing him up.
Aug 31, 2020
Absence contract-related
Kamara's absence from practice since Friday is believed to be contract-related, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Schefter, Kamara's absence is believed to be unexcused. With Week 1 on the horizon, this is a situation worth closely monitoring, but Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football does encouragingly note that contract "talks between Kamara and the Saints have grown closer." While Kamara is not at practice, added first-team reps will be available for his top backup, Latavius Murray.
Aug 31, 2020
Missing practice
Kamara (undisclosed) has been absent from practice since Friday, Mike Triplett of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Per the report, coach Sean Payton declined to clarify whether the running back's absence is injury or non-injury related. Triplett added that Payton chose not to provide details on any of his player's injuries Monday, so until further details are available, we'll consider Kamara day-to-day.
Aug 20, 2020
Expected to handle full workload
When asked if Kamara is expected to "carry a Kamara type load" in 2020, offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael acknowledged, "Well, I think that, you know, obviously it's still early. And as we progress along here through the training camp, you know, as we get closer, we'll start putting together some game plans. But obviously, like every year, we expect him to be a big part of those game plans."
ANALYSIS
After posting career lows in total yards (1,330) and total touchdowns (6) in 2019, it was revealed that Kamara played through an MCL tear. It should be noted that Kamara's touches per game last season were nearly identical to those he posted in 2018, and it was clear that the difference in the two campaigns was a lack of explosiveness and big plays. If he's fully healthy in 2020, Kamara should push for the 1,573 total yards and 11 total touchdowns he averaged in his first two years in the league.
Aug 11, 2020
Reveals severity of 2019 injury
Kamara played through an MCL tear last season, Master Tesfatsion of Bleacher Report reports.
ANALYSIS
He hurt his knee Week 6 and missed the next two games, with the Saints' injury reports also listing an ankle issue. Kamara then rejoined the lineup after a Week 9 bye and went on to play the final eight games of the regular season, averaging 5.0 yards per carry but only 5.4 per reception. He said in March that he was back at full strength, noting that he'd played most of the 2019 campaign "on one leg, at 75 percent." The versatile running back is now entering the final season of his rookie deal, but he told Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football he isn't worried about his contract situation.
Mar 11, 2020
Feeling healthy again
Kamara says he's back at full strength after playing "on one leg... at 75 percent" in 2019.
ANALYSIS
Kamara dealt with ankle and knee injuries in October, missing two games before a conveniently timed Week 9 bye. He then churned out 4.9 yards per carry but just 5.2 per catch over the final seven games of the regular season, and he scored four of his six touchdowns in Weeks 16 and 17. The 2017 third-round pick should bounce back from the least impressive season of his pro career, now entering the final year of his rookie contract. Of course, a holdout could be around the corner if the Saints don't sign Kamara to an extension soon.
Nov 7, 2019
Back to full health
Kamara (knee/ankle) practiced fully Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Shortly after Kamara told Amie Just of The New Orleans Times-Picayune that he's "ready to play" Sunday against the Falcons, the Saints revealed he upgraded from limited participation Wednesday to all activity one day later. With his knee and ankle injuries in the rearview mirror, Kamara can turn his focus to an Atlanta defense that has allowed 128.9 yards from scrimmage per game and nine touchdowns to running backs in eight contests this season.
Nov 7, 2019
Positive outlook for Week 10
Kamara (ankle) is expected to be ready to play Week 10 against the Falcons.
ANALYSIS
Kamara received commendations for the quality of his practice session Wednesday, per Mike Triplett of ESPN.com, though the running back was officially listed as a limited participant. That's been the case on multiple occasions in past weeks, and Kamara ended up not suiting up, but it's looking like this week could be different. After two absences and a bye week, Kamara will face an Atlanta defense that's giving up 3.9 YPC to opposing running backs.
Nov 6, 2019
Limited following bye week
Kamara (knee/ankle) was a limited practice participant Wednesday, Luke Johnson of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara was limited on the two injury reports prior to logging his second straight absence in the Saints' last contest Week 8 against the Cardinals. While his current standing doesn't appear to indicate he's progressing in his recovery from his injuries, he'll have two more chances to prove his health this week. Latavius Murray is on hand in the event Kamara requires another Sunday off.
Oct 27, 2019
Sidelined again Sunday
Kamara (ankle/knee) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Cardinals, Amie Just of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
With a Week 9 bye up next, the Saints can play it safe with Kamara and his pair of health concerns with the second half of the campaign in mind. Kamara again will yield lead-back duties to Latavius Murray, who went off for 150 yards from scrimmage and two rushing TDs on 32 touches last Sunday in Chicago.
Oct 27, 2019
Trending down for Sunday
Kamara (ankle) isn't expected to play Sunday against the Cardinals, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara received the questionable tag after practicing in a limited fashion Thursday and Friday, but it looks as though he'll miss his second straight game. Latavius Murray lines up for another sizable workload -- he had 27 carries last week -- assuming Kamara is ultimately inactive.
Oct 25, 2019
Listed as questionable
Kamara (ankle/knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Cardinals, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara's limited practice participation Thursday and Friday gives him a realistic shot to play, though he may come down to a game-time decision ahead of the 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff. Latavius Murray would be in line for another massive workload if Kamara is declared inactive for a second straight week. Meanwhile, Drew Brees (thumb) also is listed as questionable and tight end Jared Cook (ankle) has been ruled out.
Oct 25, 2019
Practicing again Friday
Kamara (ankle/knee) participated in the media-access portion of Friday's practice, Mike Triplett of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara returned to practice Thursday as a limited participant, giving him a shot to suit up for Sunday's game against Arizona. It remains to be seen how the Saints list the star running back on their final injury report Friday afternoon.
Oct 24, 2019
Upgrades to limited practice
Kamara (ankle/knee) was a limited practice participant Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Per Amie Just of The New Orleans Times-Picayune, Kamara kicked off the session without a brace or sleeve on the affected knee. Later in the part of practice open to the media, Kamara hauled in a pass from Drew Brees (thumb), according to Katherine Terrell of The Athletic. The activity was enough for Kamara to upgrade from Wednesday's DNP label, but he likely still has to make more progress to get the all-clear for game action. Friday's injury report will have the final word on his odds to suit up Sunday against the Cardinals.
Oct 24, 2019
Seen at Thursday's practice
Kamara (ankle) was at Thursday's practice without a brace or sleeve on his knee, Amie Just of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara is dealing with a pair of injuries at the moment, but this development may be the key to his ability to suit up this weekend. Thursday's practice report will reveal his level of participation, if any, as he aims to miss just one game due to his health concerns.
Oct 23, 2019
Still not practice Wednesday
Kamara (ankle/knee) didn't participate in practice Wednesday, Amie Just of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara is tending to a high ankle issue and a knee injury simultaneously, hence the reason for his continued absence. He'll likely need to get on the practice field in some capacity this week in order to have a chance to suit up Sunday against the Cardinals, especially after Latavius Murray went off for 150 yards from scrimmage and two TDs on 32 touches during a Week 7 win at Chicago. Meanwhile, Drew Brees was limited Wednesday, so the Saints offense slowly but surely is getting back to 100 percent.
Oct 18, 2019
Ruled out for Week 7
Kamara (ankle/knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's game in Chicago, Amie Just of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara struggled while playing through an ankle injury last week and picked up a knee ailment somewhere along the way. He was held out of practice each day this week, casting doubt on his status even beyond Week 7. The Saints will turn to Latavius Murray as their lead back Sunday, with Dwayne Washington and Zach Zenner on hand in reserve.
Oct 18, 2019
Not seen at practice
Kamara (ankle/knee) isn't on the field for the media-access portion of Friday's practice, Mike Triplett of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara could theoretically make an appearance later in the session, but most signs point toward an absence for Sunday's game in Chicago. He was held out of practice Wednesday and Thursday, leaving Latavius Murray as the lead running back.
Oct 17, 2019
Sits out another practice
Kamara (ankle/knee) didn't participate in Thursday's practice, Amie Just of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara hasn't ruled himself out from playing Sunday in Chicago, but he'll likely need to log some practice activity Friday to have a decent chance at suiting up. The high-ankle and knee issue have kept him sidelined during the Saints' first two sessions of Week 7, leaving first-team work for backup running back Latavius Murray. The Saints would likely turn to Murray to handle the bulk of the backfield snaps if Kamara can't play against the Bears, with Dwayne Washington and Zach Zenner on hand as depth options.
Oct 16, 2019
Can't practice Wednesday
Kamara (ankle/knee) did not practice Wednesday, Amie Just of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara suffered a knee injury Week 6 versus the Jaguars and came into the contest dealing with a high ankle issue, per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. The star running back has expressed some optimism that he'll be available Sunday against the Bears, but he'll almost certainly need to practice in some capacity Thursday and/or Friday for any chance of taking the field Week 7. In the event that Kamara is forced to miss any time, Latavius Murray would likely draw the start for New Orleans. The team also opted to sign Zach Zenner as a reserve option Wednesday.

Nursing ankle injury
Kamara is dealing with an ankle issue that will limit him in practice this week, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Pelissero would specify that it's a "high ankle issue" that Kamara is dealing with, which is usually more serious than a normal ankle injury. Kamara battled through the ankle injury as well as a knee issue during Sunday's win over Jacksonville, limiting his rushing output to just 31 yards. The 2017 third-round pick still thinks he has a shot to play in Sunday's game against the Bears, but his status for Sunday seems murky at this point in the week. Latavius Murray would be in line for an uptick in his workload should Kamara sit out.

Officially active in Week 6
Kamara (ankle) is officially active for Sunday's Week 6 tilt against the Jaguars, Amie Just of NOLA.com reports.
ANALYSIS
As expected, Kamara will be available without any reports of limitations in Week 6 against the Jaguars. Latavius Murray will continue to act as his complement, but at present, there's no expectation he'll have to take on a larger role than usual.

In line to play Week 6
Coach Sean Payton told Melanie Collins of CBS that Kamara (ankle) will be active Sunday at Jacksonville.
ANALYSIS
The Saints won't confirm as much until 90 minutes before Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff, but Kamara is expected to play through the ankle that he tweaked at Thursday's practice. Assuming no setbacks before or during the game, he could have a banner day against a Jaguars defense that has conceded a league-high 5.6 yards per carry to running backs this season.

Expected to play Sunday
Kamara (ankle) is expected to play Sunday at Jacksonville barring a setback, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. He participated in Saturday's walk-through. He's listed as questionable on the official injury report.
ANALYSIS
Kamara wasn't trending in the right direction for Week 6, as he went from a limited participation at Thursday's practice to a DNP on Friday. However, this report sounds like he improved Saturday. Still, a decision on his availability won't come until approximately 90 minutes before Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff.

Receives 'questionable' designation
Kamara (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game at Jacksonville, Amie Just of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara isn't trending in the right direction for Week 6, downgrading from limited participation at Thursday's practice to a DNP on Friday. The development may have been implemented to preserve Kamara's ankle for game day, but a decision on his availability won't come until approximately 90 minutes before Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff. The next players up in the Saints' backfield are Latavius Murray and Dwayne Washington.

Not seen at practice Friday
Kamara (ankle) and Latavius Murray (non-injury) weren't present Friday at the media-access portion of practice, Mike Triplett of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara was a mid-week addition to the injury report, showing up Thursday as a limited participant with an ankle injury. An absence for Sunday's game in Jacksonville would leave Murray as the lead back, assuming his own missed practice isn't related to anything that might threaten his game availability. The Saints also have Dwayne Washington on hand in the backfield.

Listed with ankle injury
Kamara was listed as limited on Thursday's injury report with an ankle injury, Luke Johnson of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Kamara becomes the next elite running back to deal with a health concern, but on a positive note he at least got in some work Thursday. He'll have one more practice to make his presence felt this week, at which point the Saints will tab him with a designation for Sunday's game at Jacksonville. Note that Latavius Murray and Dwayne Washington are the only other RBs on the Saints' depth chart.
