Ready to play in Madrid
Chubb (foot) is active for Sunday's game against the Commanders in Madrid.
ANALYSIS
Chubb was added to the Dolphins' injury report Friday after he was a limited participant in the team's final practice of the week, resulting in him carrying a designation into Sunday. The foot issue ultimately wasn't considered serious enough to sideline the edge rusher for his first game of the season, and he's not expected to be operating with any restrictions in Madrid. Chubb heads into the Week 11 contest having recorded 28 tackles, 5.0 sacks, one fumble recovery and one forced fumble through the Dolphins' first 10 games.
Nov 14, 2025
Questionable due to foot
Chubb (foot) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Commanders, Travis Wingfield of the Dolphins' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Chubb popped up on Friday's injury report as a limited participant in practice. He played through a foot injury in Miami's Week 10 win over Bills, but it didn't hamper at practice Wednesday or Thursday. If Chubb suits up Sunday in Madrid, he'll be looking to add to his season total of 5.0 sacks.
Nov 7, 2025
Good to go vs. Bills
Chubb (foot) does not carry an injury designation ahead of Sunday's game versus Buffalo, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Chubb was limited at practice by a foot issue Wednesday and Thursday, but he was able to manage a full practice Friday and avoid carrying an injury designation into the weekend. He may have relatively few opportunities to rush the passer Sunday versus the Bills, who currently sport the most run-heavy offense in football.
Nov 5, 2025
Dealing with new injury
Chubb (foot) was a limited practice participant Wednesday, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
Chubb has been on the injury report for the last few weeks with a shoulder injury, but a foot issue limited his participation Wednesday. His outlook for Sunday's game against Buffalo is unclear.
Nov 1, 2025
Logs three tackles vs. Baltimore
Chubb registered three tackles (one solo) during the Dolphins' 28-6 loss to the Ravens on Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Chubb was cleared to play Thursday after working through a shoulder injury, and he was able to play in 41 of 56 defensive snaps. The veteran pass rusher has not recorded a sack over his last four games after logging 4.0 sacks through the first five games of the regular season. Chubb has 25 tackles (14 solo), one forced fumble and one fumble recovery through nine regular-season games.
Oct 30, 2025
Green light to play Thursday
Chubb (shoulder) is active for Thursday's game against Baltimore.
ANALYSIS
Chubb has been cleared to play Thursday after working through a shoulder injury during the shortened week. The veteran pass rusher has logged 22 combined tackles, including 4.0 sacks, along with one forced fumble and one fumble recovery through eight regular-season games.
Oct 29, 2025
Officially questionable for TNF
Chubb (shoulder) is listed as questionable for Thursday's game against Baltimore, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
Chubb ended the shortened week with a limited practice Wednesday to earn the questionable tag for Week 9. Fellow veteran defensive end Matthew Judon would be in line for an increased snap count on defense if Chubb is not cleared to play against the Ravens.
Oct 28, 2025
Upgrades to limited practice
Chubb (shoulder) was a limited participant at Tuesday's walkthrough practice, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
Chubb has taken a step in the right direction after having been listed as a non-participant on Monday's estimated practice report. The starting defensive end said Tuesday that he anticipates suiting up for Thursday Night Football against the Ravens, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports. Still, Chubb may have to resume practicing in full Wednesday to avoid being assigned an injury designation for Week 9.
Oct 27, 2025
Nursing shoulder injury
Chubb was listed as a DNP on Monday's estimated practice report due to a shoulder injury, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
Chubb likely picked up the injury during Sunday's 34-10 win over the Falcons, when he logged two tackles while playing 31 defensive snaps. The Dolphins didn't practice Monday, so his practice participation over the next two days will provide more clarity on his status for Thursday's home game against the Ravens.
Oct 7, 2025
Productive in loss
Chubb recorded two tackles (one solo) including 1.0 sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery during Sunday's 27-24 loss at Carolina.
ANALYSIS
On a second down in the middle of the first quarter, Chubb took advantage of quarterback Bryce Young being loose with the football in the backfield and then pounced on top of it to set up a Dolphins touchdown. Chubb's sack total on the season is up to 4.0, putting him on pace for a career-best year in that category.
Sep 30, 2025
Notches three stops in Week 4
Chubb recorded three tackles (all solo) in Sunday's 27-21 victory over the Jets.
ANALYSIS
It was a relatively quiet performance by Chubb after he recorded a sack in each of his first three games this season. The veteran defensive end is tied for 12th in the NFL with 3.0 total sacks on the campaign.
Sep 22, 2025
Adds sack in defeat
Chubb recorded three total tackles (one solo), including 1.0 sacks, in Thursday's 31-21 loss to the Bills.
ANALYSIS
Chubb was able to get to the quarterback for the third straight week to open the season, sacking Josh Allen in the second quarter. The 29-year-old has now registered nine total tackles (five solo), including 3.0 sacks, over three contests this season, and he'll look to make it four games in a row with a sack when the Jets come to town for Monday Night Football in Week 4.
Sep 9, 2025
Records sack in loss
Chubb recorded one tackle (one solo), including 1.0 sacks, in the Dolphins' loss to the Colts on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Chubb missed the entire 2024 season with a torn ACL but started Sunday's game and played 55 percent of the defensive snaps. Jaelan Phillips, Chubb, Chop Robinson and Matthew Judon are expected to key Miami's pass rush this season.
Jul 25, 2025
Practices Friday
Chubb (knee) participated in Friday's practice, Yianni Kourakis of WPBF News reports.
ANALYSIS
Chubb missed the entire 2024 season after undergoing surgery to repair a torn ACL, meniscus and patellar tendon that he suffered in December of 2023. He participated in OTAs in May in a limited capacity, and the veteran edge rusher has recovered enough to participate in drills in practice. Chubb will look to regain the form he had before his injury, finishing the 2023 regular season with 73 tackles (45 solo), including 11.0 sacks, two pass defenses, six forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries in 16 games.
May 28, 2025
Advancing in ACL recovery
Chubb (knee) is participating in a limited capacity during OTAs, Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Coach Mike McDaniel said Wednesday that Chubb has practiced in most sessions during offseason workouts so far. It's a promising development for him after he missed the entire 2024 season recovering from a torn ACL he suffered in Week 17 of the 2023 campaign. If available, he projects to play a major role on the edge for Miami in 2025.
Mar 5, 2025
Restructures contract with Miami
Chubb and the Dolphins agreed to a revised contract Wednesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports, Chubb's contract will be restructured to reduce his base salary, but the veteran pass rusher will still have the opportunity to earn his full $21 compensation through playtime and sack incentives. Chubb missed the entire 2024 season while recovering from surgery for a torn ACL, meniscus and patellar tendon injury that he suffered in late December of 2023, but he is expected to be fully healthy for the start of the 2025 campaign.
Dec 24, 2024
Won't be activated off PUP list
Chubb (knee) will not be activated off the Dolphins' reserve/PUP list and will not return for the 2024 season, Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Chubb started the season on the reseve/PUP list while recovering from surgery for a torn ACL, meniscus and patellar tendon injury that he suffered in Week 17 of the 2023 season. His 21-day practice window opened Dec. 2, but he has not progressed enough in his recovery over that time to be activated off the Dolphins' PUP list. Chubb's focus will now turn towards being fully healthy for the start of the 2025 campaign.
Dec 21, 2024
Remains on PUP list for Week 16
Chubb (knee) won't play Sunday against the 49ers, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Chubb won't be activated off the PUP list prior to Week 16. He will have to be activated before Miami's Week 17 game against the Browns or Chubb would be ineligible to play this season. If Miami gets mathematically eliminated from playoff contention with a loss against the 49ers, Chubb likely won't be brought back in 2024.
Dec 20, 2024
Questionable for Week 16
Chubb (knee) was a limited participant in Friday's practice and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
Chubb was a limited participant in practice all week as he continues to progress in his recovery from surgery for a torn ACL he suffered in December of 2023. If he's not activated off the reserve/PUP list ahead of Sunday's game, his next opportunity to play would be Week 17 against the Browns on Sunday, Dec. 29.
Dec 14, 2024
Not set to return Week 15
Chubb (knee) has been downgraded to out for Sunday's matchup versus Houston, Alain Poupart of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Chubb was deemed questionable to play on Miami's injury report Friday, but the veteran pass rusher has since been ruled out. Nonetheless, he appears to be making progress toward a return after having missed the entire season up to this point while recovering from surgery to repair a torn ACL. Chubb remains on Miami's PUP list, and his next chance to be activated and suit up will come Week 16 against San Francisco.
Dec 13, 2024
Could return Week 15
Chubb (knee) is questionable to play Sunday against Houston.
ANALYSIS
Chubb hasn't yet suited up this season and remains on the Dolphins' reserve/PUP list. The veteran pass rusher was designated to return Dec. 2, but he didn't end up playing this past Sunday against the Jets. It appears Chubb is inching closer to a return, though, after logging a trio of limited practices this week, and he has a chance of taking the field for the first time on the campaign Sunday.
Dec 7, 2024
Won't play Sunday vs. Gang Green
Chubb (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Jets, Joe Schad of The Palm Beach Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Chubb was designated to return from the reserve/PUP list Monday, and he was able to participate in practice all week in a limited capacity. He wasn't able to progress enough to play Sunday, but his next chance to make his 2024 regular-season debut will be Week 15 against Houston on Sunday, Dec. 15.
Dec 6, 2024
Questionable to play vs. Jets
Chubb (knee) was a limited participant in Friday's practice and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Chubb is in the final stages of his recovery from a torn ACL that he suffered in Week 17 of the 2023 regular season. He was designated to return from the Dolphins' reserve/PUP list Wednesday, and he participated in practice all week in a limited capacity. If he's ruled out for Sunday's AFC East clash, then Chubb's next opportunity to play would be Week 15 against the Texans on Sunday, Dec. 15.
Dec 2, 2024
Inching closer to return
Chubb (knee) was designated to return from the reserve/PUP list Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
ANALYSIS
Chubb has been out tending to a torn ACL he suffered last season, but he'll now be able to practice with the team. His designation to return opens his 21-day window to practice with the team before needing to be placed on the 53-man roster.
Nov 20, 2024
Remaining on PUP list
Chubb (knee) will not return to practice this week, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Chubb is still working to return from a torn ACL suffered Week 17 last season. There has been optimism over the last couple of weeks that his return was imminent, but he'll stay sidelined for at least one more week.
Nov 7, 2024
Not returning this week
Coach Mike McDaniel said Thursday that Chubb (knee) would not return for Week 10, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
McDaniel expressed optimism earlier in the week that Chubb might be able to get back onto the practice field before Monday's game against the Rams, but he'll apparently have to sit out at least one more week as he rehabs his knee. Emmanuel Ogbah and Chop Robinson currently project as Miami's starters on the edge for Week 10.
Nov 4, 2024
Nearing return to practice
Coach Mike McDaniel said Monday that he was optimistic Chubb (knee) would be able to return to practice during the week, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
McDaniel was careful not to make any definitive guarantees to reporters Monday, but it's an encouraging sign in any case for Chubb, who has missed the first nine games of the 2024 season as he's rehabbed from a torn ACL he suffered in Week 17 of last season. The Dolphins' first official practice report of the week Thursday will give more insight into his potential availability for Week 10.
Oct 28, 2024
Return date still murky
Head coach Mike McDaniel stated Monday that Chubb (knee) coming off the PUP list isn't "on his radar right now," Omar Kelly of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Chubb has been on the shelf since suffering an ACL tear in Week 17 last season and seems to have no definitive timeline for his return. However, McDaniel did note that Chubb is "going to continue to work to get back sooner than later." With a return unlikely for Sunday's game against Buffalo, his next option would be Week 10 against the Rams.
Oct 14, 2024
Unlikely to play at Indy
Coach Mike McDaniel said Monday that he doesn't expect Chubb (knee) to return from the Dolphins' PUP list in Week 7, Travis Wingfield of the Dolphins' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Even with the benefit of a bye in Week 6, it looks like Chubb is going to have to wait at least one more game to make his 2024 season debut. Miami figures to square off against the Colts with Emmanuel Ogbah and rookie Chop Robinson as their top edge rushers.
Sep 27, 2024
Without return timetable
Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver said Friday that Chubb (knee, PUP) remains without a timetable for return, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Chubb is eligible to come off the reserve/PUP list next week, but it sounds like that's not going to happen. The 28-year-old edge rusher tore his ACL in Week 17 last season but has been taking part in defensive and positional meetings this season. Weaver said he does "feel" Chubb will play at some point this season. Jaelan Phillips, Emmanuel Ogbah and rookie Chop Robinson have paced Miami in pass-rushing snaps off the edge through three weeks.
Aug 27, 2024
Officially moved to PUP list
Chubb (knee) was placed on the Dolphins' reserve/PUP list Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Chubb continues to work his way through an ACL tear he suffered in Week 17 against the Ravens last season. He'll be forced to miss the first four games of the regular season, and the earliest he can return is Week 5 against the Patriots on Oct. 6. Across 16 regular-season games in 2023, Chubb posted 45 tackles (28 solo), including 11.0 sacks, two passes defended, six forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. Quinton Bell and Emmanuel Ogbah are the top candidates to receive extended playing time alongside Jaelan Phillips (Achilles) for as long as Chubb is sidelined.
Aug 26, 2024
Will miss start of season
Chubb (knee) will remain on the PUP list to start the season, head coach Mike McDaniel stated Monday, Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Chubb has been on the active/PUP list since camp opened as he continues to work his way back from an ACL tear suffered in Week 17 last season. His extended stay on the physically unable to perform list will force him to miss at least the first four games of the 2024 campaign, although it's not clear if he'll be healthy enough to return at that point.
Jul 18, 2024
Shifts to PUP list
The Dolphins placed Chubb (knee) on the active/PUP list Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Chubb is working his way back from a right ACL tear suffered in Week 17 last season, so it's likely that his recovery will drag into the early portions of the 2024 campaign, at the least. Miami also placed fellow linebackers Jaelan Phillips (Achilles) and Cameron Goode (kneecap) on the PUP ahead of training camp, a reminder that this pass-rush unit will likely be significantly depleted to begin the year.
Mar 19, 2024
Restructures deal with Miami
The Dolphins have restructured Chubb's (knee) contract in order to create additional salary cap space, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Per the report, the move converts $13.8 million of Chubb's base salary into a signing bonus, which creates $11 million in cap space for the Dolphins. Given that Chubb is recovering from a torn ACL that he suffered in Week 17 last season, it's unclear if he'll be ready for Miami's season opener, which also applies to fellow linebacker Jaelan Phillips (Achilles). With that in mind, the team recently added Shaquil Barrett to the mix via free agency. In 16 regular-season games in 2023, Chubb racked up a career-high 73 tackles and 11 sacks.
Jan 6, 2024
Shifts to IR
Chubb (knee) was placed on injured reserve Saturday, Daniel Oyefusi of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Miami's star edge rusher sustained a torn right ACL in last Sunday's loss to the Ravens, so it's no surprise that he's been moved over to IR. The Dolphins will be without their phenomenal pass rush duo of Chubb and Jaelan Phillips (Achilles) for the remainder of the season, which gives both Andrew Van Ginkel and Cameron Goode chances to start in the team's linebacker corps down the stretch.
Jan 1, 2024
ACL tear confirmed
Chubb tore his ACL during Sunday's Week 17 loss to Baltimore, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Chubb went down with Miami trailing by 30 late in the fourth quarter and appeared to be in significant pain. It was reported after the game that the Dolphins feared an ACL tear, and that diagnoses has now been confirmed. As such, Chubb's season is over, and he finishes with a career-high 74 tackles (45 solo), including 11.0 sacks -- his most since his 2018 rookie campaign. Melvin Ingram and Cameron Goode are leading candidates to absorb Chubb's role moving forward for Miami.
Dec 31, 2023
Feared to have torn ACL in loss
Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reported after the Dolphins' 56-19 loss to the Ravens that there is concern among team officials that Chubb tore his ACL.
ANALYSIS
Chubb sustained the knee injury on a non-contact play with three minutes left in the game. He was carted off the field and his season would be over if the reports are confirmed by an MRI. If Chubb's season is indeed done, Melvin Ingram and Cameron Goode are the leading candidates to start at weakside linebacker for Miami's season finale against Buffalo.
Dec 31, 2023
Exits game with knee injury
Chubb (knee) is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Ravens, Travis Wingfield of the Dolphins' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Dan Hanzus of NFL.com notes that Chubb appeared to sustain a noncontact knee injury and was carted off the field. The nature of his injury doesn't look good for his chances to play in the Dolphins' regular-season finale against the Bills. Chubb finished the game with six tackles (three solo).
Dec 25, 2023
Strong showing in close victory
Chubb notched four tackles (three solo) and 1.5 sacks during Sunday's 22-20 win over Dallas.
ANALYSIS
Chubb is on an impressive two-game streak, having tallied three sacks versus the Jets in Week 15, and his strong showing was exactly what Miami needed to emerge victorious Sunday. The Dolphins will have to rely on Chubb to continue his momentum to close out the regular season, with a tough Week 17 matchup at Baltimore coming up, then a key divisional contest against the Bills closing out Week 18.
Dec 18, 2023
Produces three sacks in win
Chubb logged seven tackles (five solo), including three sacks, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery in the Dolphins' 30-0 win versus the Jets on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Chubb had a dominant outing Sunday as he recorded a new season-high sack total. The 2018 first-round pick has nwo compiled a career-best 64 tackles (39 solo), with 9.5 sacks, in 14 games played this season.
Nov 6, 2023
Gets sack in fourth straight game
Chubb recorded three tackles (two solo) including a sack and forced a fumble in Sunday's 21-14 loss to Kansas City.
ANALYSIS
Chubb registered in the sack column for the fourth game in a row and forced a fumble for the third time in his last four games Sunday in Frankfurt. He has shown an outstanding nose for the ball over Miami's latest stretch of games, and he'll line up against a pass-happy Las Vegas offense in Week 11 following the Dolphins' bye in Week 10.
Oct 30, 2023
Records sack in third straight game
Chubb registered three tackles (two solo) including a sack in Sunday's 31-17 win over the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
Chubb got to Mac Jones on a first-down play at the end of the third quarter that ultimately led to a three-and-out. Chubb is now up to five sacks on the season and leads the Dolphins' defense in that category. He'll look to pad to his total in Week 9 against Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs in Germany.
Oct 24, 2023
Pair of sacks in loss
Chubb registered seven tackles (five solo), including two sacks, while forcing a fumble in Sunday's 31-17 loss to the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
Chubb was able to get to Jalen Hurts twice Sunday night, stripping the ball from him in the first quarter. The linebacker is now up to four quarterback takedowns on the year, three of which have come over the last two contests. Chubb will look to extend his sack streak to three straight games in Week 8 versus the Patriots, a team he recorded a sack against in Week 2.
Oct 17, 2023
Tallies another sack
Chubb recorded six tackles (four solo) and one sack during Sunday's 42-21 win over the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
Chubb has racked up 27 tackles (18 solo), two sacks and one forced fumble through six appearances this season. As a pillar of Miami's defense, Chubb will try to take advantage of a Week 7 matchup against an Eagles offense that struggled to move the ball Week 6 against a tough Jets' defensive front.
Sep 19, 2023
First sack of season
Chubb notched seven tackles, one sack and one forced fumble during Sunday's 24-17 win over New England.
ANALYSIS
Chubb filled out the stat sheet versus the Patriots on Sunday Night Football, capping his day with a sack in the fourth quarter. The star pass-rusher could've also been credited with a half-sack on a play made by David Long, though that stat was ultimately taken away. Chubb will get a chance to take on his former team when Miami suits up against Denver in Week 3.
Mar 9, 2023
Contract restructured
Chubb agreed Thursday to restructure his contract with the Dolphins, Mike Masala of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
The Dolphins will save $14.66 million against the cap by restructuring Chubb's contract, likely by converting base salary amounts into signing bonuses. The star edge rusher could find himself in prime position to have his talents maximized in 2023, with new defensive coordinator Vic Fangio having taken the reins.
Jan 8, 2023
Will play Sunday
Chubb (ankle) is active Sunday against the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Chubb missed Week 17 against the Patriots, but he'll return to play Week 18. His ability to suit up is certainly a boon for the team's defense, as they work to secure a playoff spot with a win over the Jets.
Jan 6, 2023
Officially questionable
Chubb (ankle) is questionable for Sunday's matchup against the Jets, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
Chubb was sidelined for Miami's loss to New England due to an ankle injury that popped up late in the week, but he'll have a chance to return Sunday after submitting back-to-back limited sessions to end Week 18 prep. In his first season with Miami, Chubb has tallied 13 tackles, 2.5 sacks and a forced fumble across seven appearances.
Jan 5, 2023
Logs limited session Thursday
Chubb (ankle) was a limited participant during the Dolphins' practice Thursday, Daniel Oyefusi of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Chubb popped up with an ankle injury during Week 17 prep that left him inactive for Sunday's loss to the Patriots. The 26-year-old was then sidelined during practice Wednesday, though he's trending in the right direction with a limited session Thursday. Chubb will now have one more opportunity to submit a full practice Friday before the crucial Week 18 matchup versus the Jets.
Jan 4, 2023
Unavailable for practice
Chubb (ankle) was held out of practice again Wednesday, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
Head coach Mike McDaniel believes that Chubb is making progress ahead of the team's Week 18 must-win regular season finale versus the Jets, but he remained off the practice field Wednesday. The 26-year-old is dealing with an ankle injury, which forced him to miss the Dolphins' Week 17 loss to the Patriots. If Chubb is unavailable Sunday, Andrew Van Ginkel would likely see an increase in usage against New York.
Jan 1, 2023
Not suiting up Sunday
Chubb (ankle) is inactive for Sunday's Week 17 contest against New England.
ANALYSIS
An ankle injury kept Chubb out of practice both Wednesday and Thursday during Week 17 prep, though he was able to log a limited session Friday. However, that wasn't enough for him to take the field Sunday versus the Patriots. Chubb will thus miss his first game of the campaign, and Andrew Van Ginkel will likely start in his place.
Dec 30, 2022
Game-time decision Sunday
Chubb (ankle) is a game-time decision to play Sunday versus the Patriots, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Chubb has been hobbled by an ankle injury all week after dealing with a hand injury in Week 16 against the Packers. Head coach Mike McDaniel expects to know Chubb's status following the team's pregame workouts in Week 17. If the linebacker can't go, Andrew Van Ginkel would likely step into a starting role at strongside linebacker versus New England.
Dec 28, 2022
Doesn't practice Wednesday
Chubb (ankle) didn't practice Wednesday, Daniel Oyefusi of the Miami Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Chubb suffered an apparent hand injury during the first half of Miami's Christmas Day loss to Green Bay, but he eventually returned to the contest. However, the sixth-year pass rusher is now dealing with an ankle injury and didn't practice to start Week 17 prep. The severity of the ankle issue remains unclear, but Chubb will have two more opportunities to practice before the Dolphins need to make a decision on his status for Sunday's matchup against the Patriots.
Dec 25, 2022
Returns to Christmas contest
Chubb has returned to Sunday's game against the Packers, after he suffered an apparent hand injury during the first half, Hal Habib of The Palm Beach Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Chubb temporarily departed Sunday's matchup versus Green Bay with an unspecified injury, but he's since returned to action with a club covering his right hand.
Dec 25, 2022
Questionable to return
Chubb is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Packers due to a hand injury.
ANALYSIS
Chubb dealt with a knee injury ahead of Sunday's Week 16 matchup, but he was able to suit up. However, he sustained a hand issue in the first quarter, and it's unclear whether he'll be able to return. If he's sidelined for the remainder of the game, Melvin Ingram and Andrew Van Ginkel are candidates to see increased playing time.
Dec 25, 2022
Playing on Christmas
Chubb (knee) is active for Sunday's game against the Packers, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
Chubb is now slated to avoid his first missed contest of the 2022-23 campaign following his limited practice Friday due to a knee issue. He'll resume operating in his usual starting pass-rushing role versus Green Bay on Sunday.
Dec 23, 2022
Questionable for Sunday
Chubb (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game versus Green Bay, Wes Hodkiewicz of the Packers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Chubb practiced, albeit in a limited capacity, on Friday, so he's likely closer to the 'probable' end of that questionable designation. The Pro Bowl edge rusher has tallied 38 tackles, eight sacks and three forced fumbles through 14 games in 2022.
Dec 6, 2022
Gets sack in second straight game
Chubb notched three tackles (two solo) and one sack during Sunday's 33-17 loss to the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
Chubb has notched a sack in back-to-back games since Miami's bye, having also brought down Kyle Allen once during Week 12's win over the Texans. The pass rusher is still getting acclimated to Miami's scheme, as he played only 58 percent of snaps during Sunday's loss to San Francisco, but he's already made an impact and could be more involved versus the Chargers in Week 14.
Nov 3, 2022
Inks five-year extension
The Dolphins signed Chubb to a five-year, $110 million extension Thursday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Miami traded a 2023 first-round pick, a 2024 fourth-round selection and running back Chase Edmonds with Denver in exchange for Chubb and a 2025 fifth-round pick Tuesday, so it's no surprise that one of the team's immediate priorities was to negotiate a new long-term contract. Per Schefter, Chubb's extension is worth $110 million with incentives that could boost the total to $111.25 million, and includes $63.2 million guaranteed. The premier pass-rusher already has 5.5 sacks through eight appearances this season, and he will get a chance to boost those numbers while joining a unit that already includes Emmanuel Ogbah, Jaelan Phillips and Melvin Ingram.
Nov 1, 2022
Moving on to Miami
The Broncos agreed to trade Chubb to the Dolphins on Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
According to Schefter, Chubb and a 2025 fifth-round pick will be moved for a 2023 first-round, 2024 fourth-round selection and running back Chase Edmonds. Chubb currently is playing out the fifth-year option on his rookie contract and will join Emmanuel Ogbah, Jaelan Phillips and Melvin Ingram to form a formidable pass rush in Miami. In 49 career games, Chubb has 33 tackles for loss, 26 sacks and six forced fumbles. Schefter adds that the Dolphins are expected to work out a long-term extension with Chubb, though that could hinge on how the edge rusher fares in his initial action with Miami.

Records 2.5 sacks in loss
Chubb recorded seven tackles (four solo), 2.5 sacks and one forced fumble in Thursday's 12-9 loss to the Colts.
ANALYSIS
Chubb's 2.5 sacks were the most of any Broncos defender in the contest, and his seven total tackles were tied for the second most. It appears that the veteran linebacker is ready to lead the Denver defense after missing all but seven games in 2021. Chubb will have a chance to build upon his early success in Week 6 when the Broncos visit the Chargers.
Sep 15, 2022
Kicks off year with two sacks
Chubb notched five tackles (four solo), two sacks and one forced fumble during Monday's 17-16 loss to the Seahawks.
ANALYSIS
Chubb looks like himself after having been limited to seven games in 2021, and he operated as one of Denver's lone bright spots on defense Week 1. Multiple ankle injuries prevented Chubb from recording a single sack last season, but he will have another chance to build upon his 2022 total Week 2 versus the Texans.

Expects to rebound this season
Chubb, who finished the 2021 campaign with 21 tackles and zero sacks in seven games, believes that he's poised to bounce back this coming season, Troy Renck of Denver 7 News reports.
ANALYSIS
Unlike last summer, when the 26-year-old was hampered by an ankle issue during the offseason, Chubb approaches training camp minus any injury concerns and looks forward to rebounding in 2022. "I feel like things have been building up and building up and it's finally time to let it all out," noted the 2018 first-rounder, who earned a Pro Bowl nod in 2020. As long as he avoids any setbacks, look for Chubb to re-establish himself as a pass-rushing threat for Denver, and in turn an IDP factor, while manning a starting outside linebacker slot opposite newcomer Randy Gregory.

Activated from COVID-19 list
The Broncos activated Chubb (illness) from the reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Chubb was unavailable for Sunday's loss to the Chargers after testing positive for the virus but returned to practice Wednesday. Although the 25-year-old dealt with a shoulder injury ahead of Week 17, he wasn't listed on the injury report for Wednesday's practice session, so he should be available Saturday against Kansas City.
Dec 31, 2021
Shifts to COVID list
Chubb (shoulder/illness) was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Friday after testing positive for the virus, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Chubb was ruled out for Week 17 earlier Friday, and he's now officially moved to the COVID-19 list. Stephen Weatherly (undisclosed) is also on the virus list, potentially leaving Denver without both its starting outside linebackers for Sunday's contest.
Dec 31, 2021
Set to miss Week 17
Chubb (shoulder/illness) won't be available for Sunday's game against the Chargers with the Broncos expected to place him on the reserve/COVID-19 list later Friday, James Palmer of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Denver already has nine roster members residing on the list, which will grow to 11 with the additions of Chubb and receiver Jerry Jeudy, both of whom aren't in line to suit up this weekend. Chubb's placement on the list was foreshadowed Thursday, when he was listed as a non-participant on Denver's estimated official practice report due to an illness. With Chubb sitting out Week 17 and Stephen Weatherly also on the COVID-19 list after testing positive, Denver will turn to Malik Reed and Aaron Patrick to pick up snaps on the edge.
Dec 23, 2021
Full participant Thursday
Chubb (shoulder/ankle) was a full participant in Thursday's practice session.
ANALYSIS
Although Chubb was limited in practice Wednesday, he took a step forward Thursday and should be available Sunday against the Raiders. He's totaled 10 tackles (five solo) and a pass defense across the last four games.
Dec 22, 2021
Limited in practice
Chubb (shoulder) was limited in practice Wednesday, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports.
ANALYSIS
Chubb has been dealing with a shoulder injury for the last few weeks, while also dealing with an ankle issue that delayed his start to the season. He has been able to play through it so far, and he'll try to do it again Sunday against the Raiders.
Dec 12, 2021
Ready for Detroit
Chubb (shoulder) is active for Sunday's matchup against the Lions.
ANALYSIS
Chubb will suit up for his third consecutive game after logging a pair of limited practices during the week. He'll maintain a key role along the Broncos' defensive line, though he's managed only three tackles across his last two games.
Dec 10, 2021
Questionable with shoulder injury
Chubb (shoulder) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Lions, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Chubb dealt with an ankle injury this season, but this is the first we're hearing of a shoulder problem for Denver's 2018 first-round pick. He's been limited to three appearances this season and is still searching for his first sack after totaling 7.5 in 14 games last season.
Nov 27, 2021
Will be on pitch count Sunday
Coach Vic Fangio said Saturday that Chubb (ankle) will be on a pitch count during his first game back from injured reserve, Nick Kosmider of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Chubb suffered a minor setback early in the week, but he will be available Sunday for the first time since Week 2. While he will be on a pitch count, the 2018 first-round pick's presence should still be a big boost to Denver's defense.
Nov 26, 2021
Has minor setback Thursday
Chubb experienced a minor setback with his ankle in Thursday's practice but still has a 50-50 shot to play Sunday against the Chargers, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports.
ANALYSIS
Chubb reportedly was doing better Friday, and he still has a shot to come off of IR for Sunday's game. The team will decide by 2 p.m. Saturday, so expect more news then.
Nov 25, 2021
Could be limited Week 12
Chubb (ankle) has a 50-50 chance to play Sunday, but will be on a limited snap count if he does, Nick Kosmider of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Chubb has reportedly looked good in practice in his effort to return from IR. He's missed all but Week 2 so far this season, so it makes sense to ease him back into action.
Nov 24, 2021
Looks good in practice
Chubb (ankle) has looked and felt good in practice this week according to head coach Vic Fangio, George Stoia III of The Denver Gazette reports.
ANALYSIS
Chubb was designated to return from IR on Nov. 22 and subsequently returned to practice with the team Monday. With a 21-day window to return, Chubb does not need to be rushed back, but he could suit up as soon as Sunday against the Chargers.
Nov 22, 2021
Receives return designation
Chubb (ankle) was officially designated to return from injured reserve Monday, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Chubb is back at practice Monday, which officially opens the 21-day practice window during which he can be activated from injured reserve. The 25-year-old has been sidelined since undergoing ankle surgery after Week 2, and it's unclear how much practice time he'll require before being cleared for game action.
Nov 22, 2021
Returning to practice
Chubb (ankle) will return to practice Monday according to head coach Vic Fangio, Nick Kosmider of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Chubb injured his ankle back in a Sept. 19 matchup against the Jaguars and has been on IR since Sept. 22. It was subsequently reported he underwent arthroscopic surgery to remove a bone spur that would keep him out 6-to-8 weeks. Chubb is nearing the end of that timeline. Now that he's back on the practice field, he'll try to return Sunday against the Chargers.
Sep 23, 2021
Undergoes successful surgery
Chubb's ankle surgery went very well and the veteran should be 100 percent when he returns to the field this season, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Broncos' coach Vic Fangio told reporters the arthroscopic procedure was a "roaring success." Chubb will likely be sidelined for the next six to eight weeks as he recovers from Wednesday's ankle surgery. While the 25-year-old linebacker misses time, Malik Reed is expected to fill in at outside linebacker.
Sep 22, 2021
Lands on IR
The Broncos placed Chubb (ankle) on injured reserve Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
As expected, Chubb lands on IR after undergoing surgery to remove a bone spur from his foot. He will be forced to miss at least weeks with the move, but he will likely be sidelined longer as a typical timeline for recovery is 6-8 weeks. Malik Reed is expected to step in at outside linebacker while Chubb is out.
Sep 21, 2021
Will undergo ankle procedure
Chubb will undergo an arthroscopic procedure on his ankle Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Dr. Robert Anderson in Green Bay will conduct the surgery to remove a bone spur from Chubb's foot. According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, the recovery timeline for this type of injury is typically 6-to-8 weeks, meaning Chubb will likely land on injured reserve. Chubb has played just 17 snaps this season. Malik Reed is expected to step in as the starting outside linebacker while Chubb is out.
Sep 20, 2021
Hoping to avoid IR
The Broncos are not considering the short-term injured reserve for Chubb (ankle), but continue to evaluate their options, Troy Renck of Denver 7 News reports.
ANALYSIS
Chubb aggravated his ankle in Sunday's victory over the Jaguars. He missed Week 1 due to the same injury, so it looks like he may have rushed back a little early. Look for the Broncos to exercise caution with him going forward.
Sep 19, 2021
Ruled out of Sunday's game
Chubb (ankle) won't return to Sunday's game against Jacksonville.
ANALYSIS
Considering he missed Week 1 with the injury and left so early in this one, this is definitely not a good sign. Jonathon Cooper's playing time looks secure, at least for the remainder of Week 2.
Sep 19, 2021
Injures ankle Sunday
Chubb is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Jaguars with an ankle injury.
ANALYSIS
Chubb entered the game with a questionable tag due to an ankle problem, so this appears to be an aggravation of the same injury. Rookie Jonathon Cooper should step in for the 25-year-old once again.
Sep 19, 2021
Cleared for Week 2
Chubb (ankle) is listed as active ahead of Sunday's contest against the Jaguars.
ANALYSIS
Chubb was considered a game-time decision leading up to Week 2, but he will officially make his 2021 debut in Jacksonville. The 25-year-old tallied 42 tackles and 7.5 sacks in 14 games for the Browns in 2020, but his season ended abruptly after injuring his ankle. Sunday's contest will mark his first game action since Week 14 last year.
Sep 19, 2021
Game-time decision
Chubb (ankle) is viewed as a game-time decision for Sunday's game against the Jaguars, Ian Rappaport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Rappaport notes that the linebacker, who logged 42 tackles and 7.5 sacks in 14 games last season, is trending in the right direction after missing Denver's season opener. However, a final call on Chubb's Week 2 status is set to arrive as Sunday's 1:00 ET kickoff approaches.
Sep 17, 2021
Listed as questionable for Sunday
The Broncos listed Chubb (ankle) as questionable for Sunday's contest against the Jaguars, George Stoia III of The Denver Gazette reports.
ANALYSIS
Chubb was limited in practice throughout the week and will likely be a game-time decision Sunday. If the 25-year-old is inactive for Week 2, expect rookie seventh-round pick Jonathon Cooper to see extended playing time.
Sep 15, 2021
Logs limited practice
Chubb (ankle) was a limited practice participant Wednesday, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Chubb only logged one limited practice prior to being inactive in Week 1 against the Giants. His availability earlier in the week bodes well for his chances to take the field for the first time this season against Jacksonville in Week 2. Chubb will look to get in at least one full practice to solidify his status in the coming days.
Sep 12, 2021
Inactive in Week 1
Chubb (ankle) is inactive for Sunday's Week 1 matchup against the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Chubb had offseason ankle surgery and then tweaked his other ankle during training camp, the latter primarily responsible for saddling him with a questionable tag coming into Sunday. The Broncos will be cautious with their 2018 first-round pick with a long season ahead of them. Rookie seventh-round pick Jonathon Cooper is in line to fill in at Chubb's weak-side linebacker spot against New York.
Sep 12, 2021
Considered game-time call
The Broncos are viewing Chubb (ankle), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's contest against the Giants, as a game-time decision, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Citing sources, Rapoport suggests that the Broncos will more than likely err on the side of caution and hold Chubb out Week 1 to ensure his ankle is closer to 100 percent for the final 16 games of the regular season, but a formal call on the edge rusher's status will likely be decided after he goes through a pregame workout. If Chubb is sidelined, Malik Reed would most likely start at the outside linebacker spot opposite Von Miller.
Sep 10, 2021
Questionable for Week 1
Chubb (ankle) will be listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Giants, per coach Vic Fangio, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Chubb was unable to practice Wednesday but got in a limited session Thursday. If Chubb's ankle injury ends up sidelining him for the season opener, Jonathan Cooper would likely get the start at weakside linebacker opposite Von Miller.
Sep 9, 2021
Returning to practice Thursday
Chubb (ankle) is expected to practice in a limited capacity Thursday, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Chubb sat out Wednesday's practice, but coach Vic Fangio expects the 2018 first-round pick to return to practice Thursday, albeit not at full participation. While Chubb is trending in the right direction, he's not as healthy as he'd hoped to be heading into Sunday's season opener against the Giants.
Sep 8, 2021
Misses practice Wednesday
Chubb (ankle) missed practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
After practicing on Monday and appearing on track to play Week 1, Chubb suffered a setback that forced the linebacker to miss practice Wednesday. Coach Vic Fangio stated the other day that he believes Chubb will be good to go for the season opener, but it's still possible the 25-year-old could be limited against the Giants.
Sep 7, 2021
Returned to practice Monday
Chubb (ankle) returned to practice Monday and appears on track to play in Sunday's season opener against the Giants, Jeff Legwold of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Chubb tweaked his ankle during training camp, but it wasn't suspected to be serious as it wasn't the same ankle that he had offseason surgery on. He was sidelined all of last week but returned to practice Monday. When asked if Chubb would be available for the season opener, coach Vic Fangio said "I think so". The 25-year-old has recorded 20.5 sacks across 34 contests in his first three seasons in the NFL.
Sep 2, 2021
Misses Thursday's practice
Chubb missed Thursday's practice due to an ankle injury but is expected to be available Week 1 against the Giants, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Chubb underwent surgery on his ankle in May but returned to full health during training camp. However, coach Vic Fangio revealed Thursday that the 2018 first-rounder tweaked his other ankle in practice last week and has been held out as a precautionary measure. However, the team's coaching staff doesn't seem concerned about Chubb's Week 1 availability.
Aug 18, 2021
Wants to play in preseason
Chubb (ankle) says he is "98 percent healthy," Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Chubb asserts that he is nearing a full recovery from the procedure he underwent in May to remove a bone spur from his ankle. The fact that the 25-year-old has avoided any setbacks in camp thus far is a promising sign as he aims to repeat as a Pro Bowl linebacker this season. According to Stevens, the 6-foot-4, 275-pounder wants to play in the preseason in order to test his ankle. Chubb's next opportunity to do so comes on Aug. 21 when the Broncos visit the Seahawks in Week 2 of the preseason.
Jul 27, 2021
Ready to kick off camp
General manager George Paton said Tuesday that Chubb (ankle) is ready for the start of training camp, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Chubb was forced to sit out OTAs after undergoing a May ankle procedure, but he appears to have avoided any setbacks in his recovery and is now back to full health. That said, coach Vic Fangio did note that Chubb's conditioning isn't currently ideal due to the time he missed earlier in the offseason, per Stevens. Of course, the star pass rusher will have plenty of time to ramp up and return to top form ahead of Week 1.
Jun 16, 2021
On track for camp
Coach Vic Fangio said Chubb (ankle) is expected to be ready for the start of training camp, though his conditioning will be monitored early on, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports.
ANALYSIS
The 24-year-old missed OTAs after undergoing minor ankle surgery in May, and he's on track for the start of camp as previously expected. Chubb missed the final two games of 2020 due to an injury to the same ankle, so the Broncos will exercise caution early in camp.
May 22, 2021
Undergoes minor ankle surgery
Chubb underwent surgery on his ankle earlier this week and is expected to miss OTAs, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports.
ANALYSIS
The surgery appears to be relatively minor as Chubb is still expected to be ready for training camp, but it's a concerning development given it's the same ankle which forced the pass rusher to miss the final two games of last season. The 24-year-old not surprisingly had his fifth-year option picked up by the Broncos earlier this offseason, locking him in with the team for at least the next two seasons.
Apr 30, 2021
Fifth-year option picked up
The Broncos have exercised Chubb's fifth-year option, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Chubb is now signed with Denver through the 2022 campaign, which gives the team added time to negotiate a long-term deal. The soon-to-be 25-year-old rebounded nicely after suffering a torn ACL in 2019, earning his first Pro Bowl in 2020 while racking up 7.5 sacks. If he and Von Miller (ankle) can both stay healthy during the 2021 season, Chubb should see opportunities to build upon his sack total.
Mar 26, 2021
Good to go for 2021
Chubb has recovered from ankle injury, Nick Kosmider of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Chubb was forced to sit out of the final two games of the 2020 campaign due to an ankle injury, but prior to that, the 24-year-old compiled 42 tackles (26 solo), 7.5 sacks and one forced fumble in his 14 games. With a healthy season ahead of him and Von Miller returning to Denver as well, Chubb will aim to tally more sacks opposite his teammate.
Jan 17, 2021
Finishes with 7.5 sacks
Chubb completed the 2020 season with 42 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks and a forced fumble.
ANALYSIS
Chubb rebounded nicely after missing all but four games in 2019 with a torn ACL, spurred by a monster 2.5-sack performance in Week 4 against the Jets. The junior pass rusher earned his first Pro-Bowl bid even with his Batman, Von Miller, sidelined for the season with an ankle injury. An ankle injury of his own robbed Chubb of the final two games of the season and his bid to total double-digit sacks for the first time since his rookie year, but -- with a full and healthy offseason ahead of him -- he should make a go of it in 2021 whether Miller, Malik Reed or an offseason acquisition is opposite him.
Jan 3, 2021
Inactive for regular-season finale
Chubb (ankle) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Raiders, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports.
ANALYSIS
Chubb will conclude his 2020 campaign with back-to-back missed games due to a lingering ankle injury. Jeremiah Attaochu and Derrek Tuszka will be candidates to handle increased roles against the Raiders, with Chubb unavailable.
Jan 1, 2021
Tagged questionable to face Raiders
Chubb (ankle) was a limited practice participant Friday, and he's considered questionable for Sunday's game against Las Vegas, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Chubb couldn't go last week against the Chargers, having been held out for the first time all season after suffering an in-game ankle injury Dec. 19 in a blowout loss to Buffalo. The 2018 No. 5 overall draft choice wants to close out the season on the field with his teammates. Chubb did, however, also acknowledge his status is up in the air, saying it's "going to be 50-50" that he suits up against Las Vegas.
Dec 31, 2020
Practice status improves
Chubb (ankle) submitted a limited practice session Thursday, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
After sitting out 12 times in 2019 because of an ACL tear in his left knee, Chubb missed his first game of the season last Sunday against the Chargers. The 2018 No. 5 overall draft choice is in a better situation than he was this time last week when he had just been forced to miss a second straight practice. With his first Pro Bowl nod in hand, Chubb can further solidify his status for a Week 17 matchup against the Raiders by improving once more to full participation in Friday's practice.
Dec 30, 2020
Not practicing Wednesday
Chubb (ankle) didn't practice Wednesday, Troy Renck of ABC Denver7 reports.
ANALYSIS
Chubb missed last week's game due to the same ankle injury, and it's still bothering him at this point. He'll have two more practice sessions to heal up before Sunday's season finale against the Raiders. If Chubb sits again, Anthony Chickillo will likely continue to fill in at weak-side linebacker.
Dec 26, 2020
Won't play versus Chargers
Chubb (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's game versus the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Chubb was initially listed as questionable Friday, but he won't travel with the team and will sit out Week 16. The third-year linebacker has posted a team-high 7.5 sacks through 14 games. Jeremiah Attaochu likely will slot in at weak-side linebacker in Chubb's place Sunday.
Dec 25, 2020
Questionable as expected
Chubb (ankle) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Chargers, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Coach Vic Fangio previously indicated the 24-year-old is expected to be a game-time decision, so it's no surprise to see him listed as questionable. Chubb's status may not receive additional clarity until the Broncos release their list of inactives about 90 minutes before Sunday's 4:05 p.m. ET kickoff.
Dec 24, 2020
Likely to be game-time decision
Chubb (ankle) worked off to the side during Thursday's practice, and his status for Sunday's contest against the Chargers will "go down to the wire" per coach Vic Fangio, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Chubb was knocked out of last Saturday's game versus Buffalo with the ankle injury, and he missed practice entirely Wednesday. His ability to do some work Thursday -- though he was restricted to light jogging and stretching -- at least gives him a chance to be ready for Sunday's divisional clash. Jeremiah Attaochu and Derrek Tuszka could see more playing time if Chubb is ultimately unable to suit up.
Dec 24, 2020
Sidelined Thursday
Chubb (ankle) won't practice Thursday, Jeff Legwold of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Coach Vic Fangio noted that "maybe" Chubb can practice Saturday before the team heads for Los Angeles. With that in mind, Chubb's status for Sunday's game against the Chargers is unclear at this stage. Jeremiah Attaochu and Derrek Tuszka are are listed as Chubb's backups on Denver's posted depth chart.
Dec 23, 2020
Not practicing Wednesday
Chubb (ankle) isn't practicing Wednesday, Jeff Legwold of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Chubb was knocked out of last week's loss to the Bills with this injury, and it's still bothering him as the Broncos begin preparations for Sunday's game against the Chargers. Anthony Chickillo would be in line for an expanded role as the weakside linebacker if Chubb's unable to heal up by game day.
Dec 19, 2020
Leaves with ankle injury
Chubb is questionable to return to Saturday's game against the Bills due to an ankle injury, Ryan O'Halloran of The Denver Post reports.
ANALYSIS
The 24-year-old had one tackle before the injury was announced late in the third quarter. The Broncos are trailing 41-13 in the closing stages of the fourth quarter, so the team is likely to be cautious about putting Chubb back on the field.
Nov 24, 2020
Gets to quarterback in victory
Chubb finished with five tackles (four solo), one sack and one tackles for loss Sunday against Miami.
ANALYSIS
Chubb was able to register a sack for the first time since Week 8 and now sits with 6.5 sacks on the season through 10 games. He's also recorded 30 tackles (22 solo) and a forced fumble so far in 2020.
Oct 27, 2020
Sack total reaches 4.5
Chubb had two tackles (one solo) and one sack during Sunday's loss to the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
The 24-year-old went without a sack in the first three games of the season, but he now has a sack in each of the past three contests. Chubb has 17 total tackles, 4.5 sacks and one forced fumble in six games.
Oct 2, 2020
Rounding into form
Chubb recorded five tackles and his first 2.5 sacks of the seasons during Thursday's 37-28 win over the Jets.
ANALYSIS
The Broncos have lost a host of heartbreakers in recent seasons and so it looked like more of the same with two minutes remaining, the Broncos up by two and the Jets driving at midfield. Facing fourth and short, Sam Darnold dropped back, clutched and was swallowed up by Chubb's second sack of the game. Melvin Gordon sealed the game with a touchdown on the very next play and the game was over. Chubb is in the unenviable position of trying to ease back from a torn ACL without the likes of Von Miller (ankle) and Jurrell Casey (bicep) to take the pressure off. He took a big step against a banged-up Jets front Thursday, but will have a tougher task trying to bring down Cam Newton in Week 5.
Sep 5, 2020
Might play limited snaps Week 1
Head coach Vic Fangio said Chubb (knee) may be limited against the Titans in Week 1, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports. "He's not 100 percent," Fangio said. "Might be a pitch count but it's not a conditioning pitch count."
ANALYSIS
Chubb isn't fully healthy after tearing his ACL in Week 4 last season, but he's healthy enough to get on the field in some capacity. He averaged 60 snaps per game in 2019 before the injury, and he could lose a hefty chunk of that work to start the season. Von Miller appears ready to handle a full workload on the opposite side, though, so Jeremiah Attaochu and Malik Reed will compete for the snaps Chubb leaves behind.
Aug 29, 2020
Ices knee during practice
Chubb (knee) said after Saturday's practice that his early exit was just precautionary, Troy Renck of ABC Denver7 reports.
ANALYSIS
Chubb was spotted wearing ice on his knee on the sideline, but his comments after practice suggest this issue is nothing major. Still, it's worth monitoring Chubb's participation in practice next week with the season around the corner.
Aug 18, 2020
Working in contact drills
Chubb (knee) participated in contact drills during Tuesday's practice, Nick Kosmider of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The 2018 first-round pick has rehabbed the torn ACL he sustained in Week 4 last year. Not only did Chubb return to contact drills, but he also performed at a high level opposite Von Miller, teaming up to give the second-team offense a headache. This could be a menacing tandem yet again in 2020. When Chubb and Miller played all 16 games in 2018, they combined for 26.5 sacks.
Jun 25, 2020
Making impressive progress
Chubb (knee) was shown making explosive cuts in a workout video posted to his personal Twitter account Monday, Troy Renck of TheDenverChannel.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Chubb is shown in the video making sharp cuts, utilizing burst, and employing flexible leverage, all without the use of a knee brace. The 24-year-old is by all accounts making significant progress in his recovery from the second ACL surgery on his left knee, an injury which limited him to just four contests in 2019. Having exploded with 12 sacks as a rookie in 2018, avoiding any setbacks in his recovery would make Chubb one of the top rebound candidates for the 2020 campaign.
Jun 15, 2020
Moving at full speed
Chubb (knee) is apparently moving at full speed and ready to go for 2020 according to Grant Gordon of NFL.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Chubb suffered a partially torn ACL in Week 4 of the 2019 season. He was looking to follow up a highly successful rookie campaign, but it was ultimately cut short. However, he seems on track to to give it another go in 2020, barring any setbacks. He will presumably look to surpass the 12 sacks he managed in 2018.
Jun 11, 2020
Optimistic for Week 1
Defensive coordinator Ed Donatell said Thursday that he's optimistic about the chances of Chubb (knee) being ready to go for Week 1, Troy Renck of Denver 7 News reports.
ANALYSIS
Chubb is by all accounts recovering well from the partially torn ACL he sustained Week 4 last season, and he's already resumed running without issue. It still looks as though the star pass rusher is on track to participate in training camp activities, which would in turn bode well for his odds of kicking off the regular season without significant restrictions.
