Starts in preseason opener
Jones (groin) served as a starter during Saturday's preseason opener against the Jaguars.
ANALYSIS
Jones was labeled as day-to-day due to a groin injury early in training camp, but he resumed participating in individual drills in late July and was ultimately able to suit up for Saturday's preseason opener. He has nearly a month until Pittsburgh's Week 1 matchup against the Jets on Sept. 7, and he's slated to serve as a starter on the Steelers' offensive line once the regular season gets underway.

Participates in practice
Jones (groin) participated in individual drills in training camp Wednesday, Mike DeFabo of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Jones has been dealing with a groin injury that has kept him day-to-day in training camp. The 23-year-old didn't participate in any full-contact drills but was dressed in pads and uniform, according to Alan Saunders of SteelersNow.com. The team looks to be taking a cautious approach with the third-year pro who is expected to start at left tackle to start the season.

Working through lower body injury
Jones is dealing with a lower body injury, Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
ANALYSIS
Head coach Mike Tomlin said Sunday that Jones is day to day as he works his way back form a lower body injury. The team will look to get the 2023 first-round pick back soon as he is expected to serve as the starting left tackle during the upcoming campaign.

Kicking over to left tackle
Speaking with the media Tuesday, Steelers GM Omar Khan said Jones will start the offseason at left tackle, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Since being selected with the No. 14 overall pick in the 2023 Draft, Jones has played just 129 snaps at left tackle and over 1,800 at right tackle. With 2024 first-rounder Troy Fautanu (knee) expected to have a normal offseason after dislocating his kneecap in Week 2 last season, Jones is ticketed for left-tackle duties, with Fautanu manning the right side for Pittsburgh.

Left tackle heads to Pittsburgh
The Steelers selected Jones in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft, 14th overall.
ANALYSIS
The Steelers traded a fourth-round pick to jump from the 17th pick to the 14th, cutting off the Jets in the process. The Jets could have used Jones, as the Georgia product is a prototypical modern left tackle. While he's not huge at 6-foot-5, 311 pounds, Jones has good reach (34 and 3/4-inch arms) and exceptional athleticism (4.97-second 40-yard dash). Jones has room on his frame to add a bit more weight if necessary, and he clearly has athleticism to spare. Jones should send incumbent left tackle Dan Moore to the bench early on.
