Carted off Sunday
McKivitz (undisclosed) left Sunday's 47-24 loss to the Cardinals early, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
ANALYSIS
McKivitz required a cart to get to the locker room after he walked off the field in the second half with an undisclosed injury. The offensive lineman had been nursing a minor knee injury according to Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com, but it's unclear if he suffered a knee injury or something else. With San Francisco's season officially over, McKivitz will now shift his focus to rest and recovery.

Inks new deal with San Francisco
The 49ers re-signed McKivitz to a one-year, $7 million contract Friday, per AMDG Sports.
ANALYSIS
The 27-year-old will remain a 49er for the immediate future after agreeing to a new, one-year deal Friday. McKivitz has spent all four years of his career in San Francisco, making 45 appearances and starting 22 games. The veteran tackle also started all 17 of the 49ers' games in 2023, so he'll likely have the opportunity to start once again in 2024.

Cleared to play Week 11
McKivitz (ankle) doesn't have an injury designation and has been cleared to play in Sunday's Week 11 game against the Bucs, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
ANALYSIS
McKivitz has started all nine games at right tackle for San Francisco. He'll see plenty of Shaquil Barrett and Joe Tryon-Shoyinka off the edge for the Bucs Sunday.

Dealing with ankle injury
McKivitz suffered an ankle injury in Sunday's 34-3 win over the Jaguars, David Lombardi of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
It's unclear when McKivitz sustained the injury, but head coach Kyle Shanahan said Monday that the right tackle is considered "day-to-day" after he "got his ankle rolled up on and has knee soreness". If McKivitz is forced to miss any game action moving forward, both Matt Pryor and Jaylon Moore are potential candidates to step into a starting role.

Slated to start at right tackle
Offensive line coach Chris Foerster confirmed Wednesday that McKivitz will be the 49ers' starting right tackle to begin 2023, David Lombardi of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
McKivitz, a 2020 fifth-round pick, has appeared in 28 games (five starts) over his first three NFL seasons. However, he finds himself in line for a more prominent role during Year 4 with Mike McGlinchey now in Denver. McKivitz signed a two-year extension in March, so he's under contract through 2024.

Lands extension
McKivitz re-signed with the 49ers on Thursday.
ANALYSIS
McKivitz was set to become a restricted free agent, though he opted to sign a two-year extension with the 49ers instead of trying to find a deal elsewhere. Since being selected in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL Draft, he has appeared in 28 games and made five starts.

Back to active roster
McKivitz (knee) was returned to the 53-man roster Saturday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
McKivitz' return should bolster the 49ers' offensive line depth. The third-year pro has been out since Week 4, when he drew that start for Trent Williams at left tackle, who was nursing an ankle injury at the time.

Nearing return from IR
San Francisco designated McKivitz (knee) to return from its injured reserve list Monday ahead of Sunday's game versus the Chargers, Josh Dubow of The Associated Press reports.
ANALYSIS
Once McKivitz returns to practice, the 49ers will have a 21-day window to activate him before they would have to place him back on their injured reserve list for the season. When he's ready to play again, he'll add depth behind starters Trent Williams and Mike McGlinchey on the offensive line.

Heads to IR
The 49ers placed McKivitz (knee) on injured reserve Saturday, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
McKivitz sprained his MCL during the team's Week 4 win over the Rams and will be forced to miss at least four games after landing on injured reserve, though he's expected to remain out for 6-to-8 weeks. With Trent Williams (ankle) also out, the 49ers appear to be extremely shorthanded at left tackle moving forward.

Officially ruled out
McKivitz (knee) was ruled out Friday for Sunday's matchup against the Panthers, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
ANALYSIS
McKivitz suffered a knee injury in Week 4 that is expected to sideline him for multiple games. It's little surprise he was ruled out for Sunday's game against the Panthers as a result, but with Trent Williams (ankle) also out, the 49ers are shorthanded at left tackle.

Sustains sprained MCL
McKivitz (knee) suffered a sprained MCL during Monday's 24-9 victory over the Rams that'll likely sideline him multiple weeks, Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
ANALYSIS
McKivitz, who started at left tackle in place of Trent Williams (ankle) on Monday against Los Angeles, is expected to be out 6-to-8 weeks while he recovers from the sprained MCL he suffered in Week 4. While Williams is also expected to miss a few more games, second-year tackle Jaylon Moore is in line to command a starting role on the 49ers' offensive line for the time being.

Won't return Monday
McKivitz (knee) was ruled out for the remainder of Monday's game against the Rams.
ANALYSIS
McKivitz lined up as the 49ers' starting left tackle with Trent Williams expected to sit out multiple weeks due to a high ankle sprain. As a result, Jaylon Moore will step in for the remainder of this divisional matchup.

Earns extension
McKivitz re-signed with the 49ers on a one-year deal Thursday.

Actived from COVID-19 list
McKivitz was activated from the reserve/Covid-19 list Friday, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
McKivitz missed the team's Week 15 matchup against the Cowboys but has since passed through the league protocols. He should return to his backup role as a guard along the 49ers' offensive line in their Week 16 matchup Saturday against the Cardinals.

Shifts to COVID-19 list
The 49ers placed McKivitz on the reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday, Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
ANALYSIS
McKivitz was placed on the list after having tested positive for the virus, or coming into close contact with someone who had. The rookie out of West Virginia will hope to clear league protocols in time for Sunday's game against the Cowboys.
