Four grabs in Week 11 win
Sutton caught four of eight targets for 59 yards in Sunday's 22-19 win over Kansas City.
ANALYSIS
The veteran matched Troy Franklin in receptions and targets, but it was the second-year wideout who paced Denver with 84 receiving yards. Sutton has become the 1B to Franklin's 1A in the Broncos' passing game, and over the last six games he's posted a 19-284-1 line on 37 targets compared to Franklin's 25-278-4 line on 49 targets.

Three catches in Week 10 win
Sutton secured three of four targets for 24 yards in the Broncos' 10-7 win over the Raiders on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Sutton put together another quiet performance, finishing with his third sub-30-yard performance in the last five games. The veteran wideout also has four or fewer catches in four of the last five games, a stark departure from the first five games of the season, when he posted a 26-365-3 receiving line on 37 targets. Sutton should have a good chance of reverting to a higher-volume role in Week 11, however, as the Chiefs pay a visit for a critical divisional showdown on Sunday, Nov. 16.

Hauls in TD in Houston
Sutton caught just one of six targets for a 30-yard touchdown in Sunday's 18-15 win over the Texans.
ANALYSIS
The Texans' secondary did a good job of blanketing Sutton most of the afternoon, but he was able to beat Derek Stingley down the sideline for a TD late in the second quarter. Sutton snapped a four-game scoring drought with the catch, but it's the third time in nine contests he's been held to only one grab, leaving him with a 38-566-4 line on 62 targets for the season. The veteran wideout should be much more productive against a more vulnerable defense in a Week 10 home tilt against the Raiders.

Modest line as youngsters shine
Sutton finished with four receptions on six targets for 67 yards in Sunday's 44-24 win over the Cowboys.
ANALYSIS
Sutton took a back seat to Denver's younger receiving options Sunday, watching Troy Franklin, Pat Bryant and RJ Harvey collect all of Bo Nix's touchdown passes in the blowout win. The veteran starter still produced adequate receiving totals despite failing to reach the end zone, duplicating the 67.0 yards/game average he posted over his previous seven appearances. Fantasy managers are hoping Sutton can return to the end zone against the Texans in Week 9 after scoring all three of his touchdowns in Denver's first four games of the season.
Oct 19, 2025
Leading receiver on 10 targets
Sutton finished with six receptions on 10 targets for 87 yards in Sunday's 33-32 win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Sutton got back on track after being held to just 17 receiving yards against the Jets in London last week. The 29-year-old helped play the role of hero when he corralled a 22-yard pass from QB Bo Nix on the penultimate play before a game-winning field goal from kicker Will Lutz. Sutton has been providing WR2 production for fantasy managers with a 33-469-3 receiving line through seven weeks. Consider the physical wideout a plus play for next Sunday's tilt against a porous Dallas pass defense.
Oct 12, 2025
Struggles in tough matchup overseas
Sutton was held to one reception on three targets for 17 yards in Sunday's 13-11 win over the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Sutton traveled overseas to London for Sunday's international tilt, only to be greeted impolitely by Jets' CB Sauce Gardner once the game kicked off. The shutdown corner won his individual matchup against Sutton, holding Denver's No. 1 wideout to just one reception in the narrow victory. This was Sutton's second one-catch performance through six starts this season, which would be concerning if he hadn't posted WR1 numbers in his four other appearances. Sunday's dud can be written off as a bad matchup coupled with an unfavorable game script. Look for Sutton to get back to his productive ways against the Giants next Sunday.
Oct 5, 2025
Paces pass catchers in upset win
Sutton brought in eight of 10 targets for 99 yards in the Broncos' 21-17 win over the Eagles on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Sutton led the Broncos in receptions, receiving yards and targets on the afternoon, recording a team-high 34-yard catch along the way. The veteran wideout fell just short of what would have been his second 100-yard game of the campaign, but he's now posted at least 81 receiving yards in three straight contests. Sutton figures to remain Bo Nix's top target when the Broncos travel to London to face the Jets in a Week 6 clash next Sunday.
Sep 29, 2025
Leading receiver on MNF
Sutton finished with five receptions on six targets for 81 yards and a touchdown in Monday's 28-3 win over the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
Sutton stayed hot with his second trip to the end zone in as many weeks while pacing the Broncos in receiving yards on Monday Night Football. The one-catch dud in Week 2 is proving to be an anomaly after the veteran wideout posted WR1 numbers in his three other starts this year. Expect Sutton to continue operating as QB Bo Nix's favorite target in a road matchup against the Eagles on Sunday.
Sep 21, 2025
Reestablishes himself as top WR
Sutton corralled six of eight targets for 118 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 23-20 loss to the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Sutton bounced back nicely from last week's one-catch dud, ripping off a 52-yard touchdown grab while posting his first 100-plus yard performance of the season. The 29-year-old reestablished himself as Bo Nix's favorite option, finishing with four more targets than Marvin Mims and rookie Troy Franklin. Sutton will carry a healthy 13-185-2 receiving line into a Week 4 matchup against the Bengals on Monday Night Football.
Sep 14, 2025
Abysmal Week 2 showing
Sutton recorded one reception on four targets for six yards in Sunday's 29-28 loss to the Colts.
ANALYSIS
Bo Nix spread targets among the Denver pass catchers very evenly, with nine players targeted at least twice in the contest. While that was one factor in limiting Sutton's involvement, Troy Franklin also commanded nine targets to lead the team. It seems unlikely that Franklin will truly challenge Sutton for opportunity moving forward, but this was nevertheless a concerning performance for him.
Sep 7, 2025
Touchdown grab in Week 1
Sutton recorded six receptions on nine targets for 61 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 20-12 win over the Titans.
ANALYSIS
Sutton was unsurprisingly Bo Nix's favorite target and led the Broncos in targets, receptions and yards. Sutton accounted for the majority of his production on a leaping, contested 22-yard touchdown catch just before halftime. He chipped in two additional receptions that went for double-digit gains to get his 2025 campaign off to a solid start.
Aug 23, 2025
Impressive to close preseason
Sutton secured four of seven targets for 83 yards and a touchdown in the Broncos' 28-19 preseason win over the Saints on Saturday afternoon.
ANALYSIS
Sutton tied for the team lead in receptions and set the pace in receiving yards and targets on the afternoon as well. The first-team offense was supposed only be in on 8-10 plays according to head coach Sean Payton's statements earlier in the week, but a lackluster opening drive likely drove Payton to keep the first unit out there for two additional possessions. Sutton put the extra opportunity to good use, rounding out his afternoon with a 19-yard scoring grab to close out the first unit's third and final drive. Sutton heads into the 2025 season as the clear-cut No. 1 receiver in Denver's Bo Nix-led offense.
Aug 10, 2025
One grab against 49ers
Sutton caught one of three targets for two yards in Saturday's 30-9 preseason win over the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
Sutton had a quiet game with limited opportunities in Denver's first game of the preseason. Firmly entrenched as the Broncos' No. 1 wide receiver, the veteran was on the field with the starters during the first quarter of the contest. Though quarterback Bo Nix and Sutton were unable to connect much Saturday, they will look to improve upon a solid 2024 season as the chemistry continues to grow heading into the 2025 campaign. The 29-year-old wideout will have his next opportunity to lead the team's receiving corps when the Broncos host the Cardinals in Denver's second preseason game next Saturday night.
Jul 28, 2025
Signing four-year extension
Sutton and the Broncos agreed Monday to a four-year extension, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Sutton was abstaining from full-speed reps in the early days of training camp while his agents and the team hammered out a deal. He now figures to be a full participant, gearing up for Year 2 with Bo Nix after finishing 2024 with career highs for catches, targets and fantasy points.
Jul 28, 2025
Limiting reps during contract talks
Sutton and the Broncos are on the same page about the wideout being a limited practice participant while extension negotiations are ongoing, Parker Gabriel of The Denver Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Gabriel notes that contract talks are amicable, with Sutton seemingly refraining from full-speed drills due to financial caution, not as a negotiating tactic or show of displeasure. He has one season remaining on a four-year, $60.8 million contract, after topping 1,000 yards last season for the first time since 2019. Sutton got off to a slow start last year but quickly improved along with Bo Nix, averaging 6.0 catches for 80.4 yards and 0.6 TDs on 8.8 targets over the final 10 games of the regular season. Continuing with those numbers over a full season in 2025 would make Sutton one of the top picks relative to ADP, but it'll be tougher to repeat that kind of volume after the Broncos upgraded their backfield and complementary pass-catching targets in the offseason.
Jan 12, 2025
Leading receiver in wild-card loss
Sutton caught five of nine targets for 75 yards in Sunday's 31-7 wild-card round loss to the Bills.
ANALYSIS
The veteran wideout led the Broncos in catches, targets and receiving yards, although it was Troy Franklin who was on the other end of rookie QB Bo Nix's only TD pass Sunday. Sutton put together arguably the best campaign of his career in 2024, hauling in a career-high 81 passes for 1,081 yards and a career-high eight touchdowns over 17 regular-season contests, and his per-game averages soared in the second half of the year (60-804-6 over his last 10 games) once he developed stronger chemistry with Nix. Sutton is under contract for one more year, and assuming he returns to Denver in 2025, his big finish will put him in high demand at the fantasy draft table.
Jan 5, 2025
Closes regular season well
Sutton recorded five receptions on seven targets for 98 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 38-0 win over the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
The Chiefs rested several of their defensive starters, but this was still an impressive performance for Sutton. He picked up nearly half of his yardage on a 47-yard catch midway through the first quarter, and he capped off the same drive with a 10-yard reception in the end zone two plays later. With the showing, he topped 1,000 receiving yards in a season for the first time since 2019 and will remain a key part of the Denver offense in a wild-card round matchup against the Bills.
Dec 28, 2024
Grabs seventh touchdown
Sutton recorded five receptions on nine targets for 55 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 30-24 overtime loss to the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
Sutton had only one catch in the first half but came alive along with the entire Denver offense in the final two quarters. He made a leaping six-yard touchdown grab to tally his seventh score of the season late in the third quarter and later chipped in long grabs of 15, 14 and 13 yards. Sutton has at least nine targets in seven of his last nine games and remains the primary option in the Broncos' passing attack.
Dec 20, 2024
Five catches in TNF loss
Sutton brought in five of six targets for 50 yards in the Broncos' 34-27 loss to the Chargers on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Sutton finished second across the board in receptions, receiving yards and targets for the Broncos on the night. The veteran wideout saw a highly productive six-game stretch with at least six catches and 70 receiving yards in each contest snapped in Week 15 against the Colts, and although he saw a slight uptick Thursday, he still delivered relatively modest numbers for fantasy managers relying on him in playoff matchups. Sutton should have a good chance of bouncing back in a Week 17 road matchup against the vulnerable Bengals defense on Saturday, Dec. 28.
Dec 15, 2024
Salvages fantasy line with late TD
Sutton caught three of nine targets for 32 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 31-13 win over the Colts.
ANALYSIS
Sutton was quiet prior to scoring a 20-yard touchdown with 5:48 remaining in the fourth quarter. That play was enough to propel him into the team lead in receiving yards as Bo Nix threw for only 130 yards in this turnover-filled matchup. Sutton has seen at least eight targets in seven consecutive games heading into Thursday's clash with the Chargers, and this was the first time in that busy stretch that Sutton failed to reach 70 receiving yards.
Dec 3, 2024
Cracks century mark in win
Sutton brought in six of nine targets for 102 yards in Monday's 41-32 win over the Browns.
ANALYSIS
Sutton led the Broncos in both targets and receptions Monday, but he was second to Marvin Mims after the latter broke off a 93-yard touchdown in the high-scoring affair. The 29-year-old Sutton has posted three 100-plus yard performances over the last six weeks, chipping in three touchdowns over that span as well. With Denver entering a bye week, Sutton will have to wait until Dec. 15 against Indianapolis in order to continue his current tear.
Nov 24, 2024
Goes for two scores Sunday
Sutton grabbed eight receptions (10 targets) for 97 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 29-19 win over the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
Sutton was on the receiving end of both of Bo Nix's touchdown passes Sunday, resulting in his first multi-score game of 2024. The veteran wideout boosted his season line to 57-744-5 through 12 games with this dominant showing. Sutton has recorded at least 70 receiving yards in five straight contests since being held without a target back in Week 7. Fantasy managers should continue riding this wave of production into next Monday's tilt against the Browns.
Nov 17, 2024
Leading receiver in lopsided win
Sutton caught seven of eight targets for 78 yards in Sunday's 38-6 win over the Falcons.
ANALYSIS
Sutton led the team in targets, catches and receiving yards but wasn't on the receiving end of any of Bo Nix's four touchdown passes. Since being held without a catch by the Saints in Week 7, Sutton has bounced back by posting at least six catches and 70 yards in each of his last four games. With Nix surging under center, Denver's top wide receiver has turned into a reliable fantasy option ahead of a Week 12 road game against the Raiders.
Nov 10, 2024
Another TD grab in loss
Sutton brought in six of nine targets for 70 yards and a touchdown in the Broncos' 16-14 loss to the Chiefs on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Sutton led the Broncos in receptions, receiving yards and targets while also recording his third touchdown catch of the season on an impressive 32-yard grab just past the midway point of the second quarter. Sutton now has at least Sunday's 70-yard tally in three consecutive games overall, a span during which he's also drawn 30 total targets. The veteran receiver should continue playing a key role during a Week 11 home matchup against an inconsistent Falcons secondary.
Nov 3, 2024
Caps big day with TD pass
Sutton caught seven of 10 targets for 122 yards and threw a two-yard touchdown to Bo Nix in Sunday's 41-10 loss to the Ravens.
ANALYSIS
The veteran wideout produced the Broncos' only TD of the afternoon, just not in the way anyone likely expected. Sutton has erupted for back-to-back 100-yard performances, posting a combined 15-222-0 line on 21 targets, and he'll try to get back into the end zone himself for the first time since Week 6 in next Sunday's road tilt against Kansas City.
Oct 28, 2024
Reaches century mark Sunday
Sutton caught eight of 11 passes for 100 yards in Sunday's 28-14 win over the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
In rookie quarterback Bo Nix's best performance yet, Sutton broke out for his first 100-yard game of the season, and a season high in receptions. Nix may have made it a point of emphasis to get the ball to Sutton after the fifth-year wideout went without a target the week before against the Saints, but given the results, he isn't likely to be forgotten about again. Sutton could be in line for big numbers again in Week 9 against a Ravens secondary that has struggled all year and which just got torched for a 7-99-2 line by the unheralded Cedric Tillman, and a 5-79-0 line by former Bronco Jerry Jeudy.
Oct 18, 2024
Surprisingly blanked in big win
Sutton did not draw a target during the Broncos' 33-10 win over the Saints on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
The Broncos' No. 1 wideout was shockingly uninvolved in a game during which his team enjoyed a solid amount of offensive success, although Sutton did draw a target late in the first quarter that didn't end up in the box score due to the Saints' defensive holding penalty on the play. Given he'd drawn an impressive 47 targets from Bo Nix over the first six games, Thursday can safely be chalked up as an outlier for Sutton, who'll be well-positioned for a bounce-back performance during a Week 8 home matchup against the Panthers on Sunday, Oct. 27.
Oct 13, 2024
Makes impressive TD grab
Sutton finished with four receptions (six targets) for 53 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 23-16 loss to the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Sutton made his mark on this contest when he fully extended to catch a 37-pass from Bo Nix for a highlight reel touchdown. It was the 28-year-old Sutton's second touchdown through six games after the veteran snagged 10 scores in 2023. Denver's offense is starting to show some life as Nix continues to develop under center, giving Sutton modest fantasy appeal against the Saints in Week 7 on Thursday Night Football.
Oct 6, 2024
Held quiet on five targets
Sutton recorded two receptions on five targets for 32 yards in Sunday's 34-18 win over the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
Sutton led the Broncos' wide receivers in targets, though Javonte Williams and Jaleel McLaughlin were used heavily as pass catchers and diminished Sutton's volume. His most impactful contribution was a 24-yard reception midway through the fourth quarter to set up a touchdown to Josh Reynolds on the next play. Sutton has had reliable targets early this season, but he has yet to reach 70 yards in a game.
Sep 29, 2024
Scores the game's only touchdown
Sutton caught three passes for 60 yards and one touchdown on nine targets against the Jets on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Between the brutal matchup and the rain, Sutton can be forgiven for only catching three of his nine targets. That his touchdown was the only one scored in the game is another reason to give Sutton big props for his three catches, and hopefully as quarterback Bo Nix gains experience the Broncos can more consistently unleash Sutton's considerable talents. The Raiders in Week 5 almost have to be an easier matchup than the Jets were Sunday.
Sep 22, 2024
Paces pass catchers in win
Sutton brought in seven of 11 targets for 68 yards in the Broncos' 26-7 win over the Buccaneers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Sutton led the Broncos in receptions, receiving yards and targets on the afternoon, with the first two totals also serving as season highs. The veteran wideout had unsurprisingly seen his numbers drop while working with rookie signal-caller Bo Nix over the latter's first two career games, but the 12th overall pick's improved performance Sunday encouragingly lifted Sutton up the most of any Denver pass catcher. The battery mates will aim to carry over the momentum into a Week 4 road matchup against the Jets.
Sep 15, 2024
Another unproductive day
Sutton recorded one reception on four targets for 26 yards in Sunday's 13-6 loss to the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Sutton was an afterthought in Sunday's defeat, as he finished fifth on the team in targets. His lone reception came midway through the third quarter on a deep pass down the sideline. Positively, he was also targeted in the end zone, but Bo Nix's pass was picked off. It's been a concerning start to the season for Sutton as he has only five receptions and 64 yards on 16 targets through two contests.
Sep 8, 2024
Limited to 33 percent catch rate
Sutton had just four receptions off of 12 targets for 38 yards in Sunday's Week 1 loss to the Seahawks.
ANALYSIS
Bo Nix's start to his career in Denver did not go well as a passer (no touchdowns and two picks), and Sutton fell victim to the effects of the rookie rollercoaster to kick off the regular season. The veteran wideout has the skills to produce big fantasy totals, but he will require improved quarterback play to do so. Those invested in Sutton should not lose faith in the wideout ahead of next Sunday's tilt against New England.
Aug 30, 2024
Significant role on tap in 2024
Sutton is set to be the Broncos' unquestioned No. 1 wide receiver for the 2024 campaign and has made improvements to his game this offseason, Nick Kosmider of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Entering the 2024 season, Sutton will look to operate as Denver's top receiver while serving as a reliable target for rookie quarterback Bo Nix. According to Kosmider, the veteran often "looked like Nix's security blanket at times during training camp." A developing connection between Sutton and Nix would serve the 28-year-old wideout well for fantasy purposes, as his elevated role in the offense should lead to consistent opportunities. Head coach Sean Payton understands Sutton's impact on the Broncos' success, stating "I would say he is important, and I think he knows that." While becoming more comfortable in Payton's system, the 6-foot-4, 216-pounder has worked to fine-tune his technique as a receiver, stating "I feel like this year, so far, I have been seeing so much more of an improvement in my route detail and my route technique." Based on his skill development and comfort within the scheme, Sutton figures to be a key piece of Denver's passing attack this season.
Aug 19, 2024
Links up with Nix for 23-yard catch
Sutton caught his only target for 23 yards in Sunday's 27-2 preseason win over the Packers.
ANALYSIS
Sutton's lone contribution came on the team's second drive, as rookie quarterback Bo Nix connected with the veteran wide receiver to get down to the four-yard line. Nix threw a touchdown pass to Tim Patrick two plays later. Sutton's set to operate as the top target for whomever plays under center for the Broncos come the regular season, and he's unlikely to get significant playing time in next Sunday's preseason finale against the Cardinals. While Nix has yet to be officially named the starter for the regular season, all signs certainly seem to be pointing that way given how well the 12th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft has played in the preseason.
Aug 11, 2024
Catches passes from two QBs Sunday
Sutton caught two of three passes for 35 yards in Sunday's 34-30 preseason win over the Colts.
ANALYSIS
Sutton caught one pass apiece from Jarrett Stidham and Bo Nix, as both quarterbacks got a chance to work with Denver's first-team offense. The Broncos' wide receiver depth chart is unsettled behind Sutton, but the five-time 700-yard receiver is poised to operate as the team's top option in the passing game after hashing out a contract dispute earlier in the offseason. Nix is expected to start the next preseason game against the Packers, and Sutton will likely play alongside the rookie first-round pick as they look to build chemistry prior to the regular season.
Aug 11, 2024
Set to play in preseason opener
Sutton is warming up to play with the first-team offense ahead of Sunday's preseason opener against the Colts, Ryan McFadden of The Denver Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Most of the Broncos' starters are slated to play in the team's first preseason contest, though they're unlikely to see more than a series or two. Sutton is looking to build a rapport with a new QB this season, as Russell Wilson has headed off to Pittsburgh. Jarrett Stidham is making the start behind center Sunday in Denver's first preseason game, while rookie Bo Nix is lined up to start next Sunday versus Green Bay. It's not yet clear which of the two signal-callers will start Week 1 of the regular season, so Sutton will look to establish chemistry with both as the exhibition slate progresses.
Jul 25, 2024
Gets contract restructure
Sutton and the Broncos agreed Thursday to restructure his contract, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Sutton previously was scheduled for $13.6 million and $14 million in the final two years of his contract. There was talk of a training camp holdout, but it never seemed especially likely and the Broncos have now placated their No. 1 receiver by adding $1.5 million in incentives for the upcoming season, per Chris Tomasson of The Denver Gazette. While TD regression is highly likely after Sutton scored on 10 of his 90 targets last year, he can make up for it with added volume in other areas of the field. The Broncos had a highly unusual offensive distribution last year, ranking 27th in pass attempts (513) but first in RB targets (153).
Jul 23, 2024
Slated to participate in camp
With regard to Sutton's status for training camp, coach Sean Payton noted Tuesday that the wideout will "be here and ready to go," Chris Tomasson of The Denver Gazette reports.
ANALYSIS
There had been some speculation that Sutton's contract status could impact his training camp participation, but it appears as though Denver's top wide receiver will be out there with his teammates once practices commence. As the coming season approaches, Sutton tops a wide receiver corps that no longer includes Jerry Jeudy, which sets the stage for Josh Reynolds, Marvin Mims, Tim Patrick and Troy Franklin to compete for slotting behind Sutton as the summer progresses.
Jun 13, 2024
May still consider holdout
Sutton is still unhappy with his contract and suggested Tuesday that he might consider holding out from training camp, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.
ANALYSIS
It would be unusual for a player to report to June minicamp (the first mandatory team activities of the year) and then hold out for the start of training camp. Sutton revealed earlier this week that he had minor ankle surgery in the offseason and was away from the team during OTAs as a result, but it sounds like displeasure with his contract may also have been a factor. While most of his Tuesday comments reflected optimism about eventually reaching an agreement, Sutton also said negotiations "are at a stalemate in a sense.". He has two years remaining on his contract, scheduled for $13.6 million in compensation this season ($2 million) and $14 million next year (none guaranteed). Sutton's comments suggest he wants a contract extension, but it won't be shocking if he ultimately settles for an adjustment that adds guaranteed money without adding years. Meanwhile, there's no indication of his ankle still being a problem.
Jun 11, 2024
Had offseason surgery, feels good
Sutton said Tuesday he underwent ankle surgery earlier this offseason and was away from the team during OTAs as a result of his rehab, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Sutton added that he feels healthy for the beginning of June minicamp, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports. It was presumed that Sutton's absence during OTAs related mostly to ongoing talks on a contract extension, which he said Tuesday are still at a "stalemate." Currently, the No. 1 wideout still has two years remaining on his deal with Denver, but with only $2 million in guarantees.
Jun 6, 2024
To attend minicamp
Sutton said Thursday he will attend Denver's mandatory minicamp after having skipped voluntary OTAs, Parker Gabriel of The Denver Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Sutton trained privately and away from the team during OTAs, but he'll be present for the start of mandatory offseason activities next week. The wideout still appears to desire a new contract, as only $2 million is guaranteed of the roughly $27.6 million remaining on his current deal, which ties him with the Broncos for the next two season. Following the trade of Jerry Jeudy to the Browns earlier this offseason, Sutton is positioned as the clear top target for whoever starts at QB this season, making him an especially key factor for Denver's offense. Behind Sutton on the depth chart are Josh Reynolds, Marvin Mims, Tim Patrick (Achilles) and Troy Franklin.
Apr 19, 2024
No concern about OTA absence
Broncos GM George Paton suggested Thursday that he isn't worried about Sutton's absence from voluntary offseason workouts, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports. "It's 100 percent voluntary," Paton said. "It's the first week of the offseason program. I've talked to Courtland. He's in a good place, and I'll just leave it at that."
ANALYSIS
Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported Tuesday that Sutton's absence from voluntary OTAs is related to wanting a new contract. The wideout has two years and approximately $27.6 million remaining on his current deal, with only $2 million of that guaranteed. It's not the type of situation with especially high risk for a holdout, and Sutton looks to be especially important for Denver's offense after the team traded WR Jerry Jeudy to Cleveland in the offseason. It's not yet clear who will start across from Sutton at wide receiver, nor is it clear who will get the nod under center Week 1. The Broncos still have a lot to work out this spring and summer, with the upcoming NFL Draft presumably being a piece of that puzzle.
Apr 16, 2024
Not at voluntary OTAs
Sutton wants a new contract and hasn't reported to voluntary OTAs, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Sutton has two seasons remaining on a four-year, $60 million extension, scheduled for a $13 million base salary in 2024 ($2 million guaranteed) and then $13.5 million in 2025 (no guarantees). He scored a career-high 10 touchdowns in 16 games last season, though 90 targets were his fewest since 2020 -- the year he suffered an ACL tear Week 1 -- and he still hasn't come close to matching his career-high 1,112 yards from 2019. The 28-year-old won't necessarily hold out from mandatory team activities later this spring, but the situation is at least worth keeping an eye on until he gets an extension or contract adjustment, or otherwise reports to the Broncos. There's been no indication of his Week 18 ankle injury lingering into the offseason, with the main concern at this point being the lack of a starting-caliber QB on Denver's roster. The team also appears thin at wide receiver, where the starting job across from Sutton could end up going to any of Josh Reynolds, Marvin Mims, Tim Patrick (Achilles) or Brandon Jo
Jan 10, 2024
Catches one pass in loss
Sutton played 28 snaps on offense and caught one of four targets for two yards in Sunday's 27-14 loss to the Raiders before departing with an ankle injury.
ANALYSIS
Though the ankle injury spelled an early end to his final appearance of the season, the veteran wideout will presumably be fully healthy for Denver's offseason program. Sutton finished the 2023 campaign with team highs in both catches (59) and receiving yards (772) while also scoring a career-high 10 touchdowns in 16 appearances. The 28-year-old operated as the team's No. 1 receiver and a focal point of their passing game, leading Denver with 90 targets and 48.3 receiving yards per game. Sutton's fantasy outlook heading into 2024 will hinge on how Denver elects to address the quarterback position, as the team is expected to part ways with Russell Wilson in the offseason.

Injures ankle Sunday
Sutton exited Sunday's game against the Raiders due to an ankle injury, Ryan McFadden of The Denver Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Prior to being forced out of the contest, Sutton had caught one of his four targets for two yards. While he is sidelined, Jerry Jeudy, Marvin Mims, Brandon Johnson and Lil'Jordan Humphrey are available to handle the Broncos' Week 18 wideout duties.
Jan 5, 2024
Cleared to play in season finale
Sutton (concussion) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
Sutton's lack of injury designation suggests he has cleared the NFL's five-step concussion protocol. He missed the Week 17 win over the Chargers and was limited in practice Wednesday but upgraded to full participation Thursday and Friday. Sutton caught 10 touchdown passes from Russell Wilson in 15 games prior to getting injured, but he'll have Jarrett Stidham as his quarterback for the season finale with Wilson benched.
Jan 4, 2024
Practices fully Thursday
Sutton (concussion) was a full participant in practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Sutton sat out the Broncos' Week 17 win over the Chargers after suffering a concussion in a Week 16 loss to New England, but he appears to be working toward a return to action for this Sunday's season finale in Las Vegas. After practicing in limited fashion Wednesday, Sutton demonstrated progress by taking every rep Thursday, indicating that he's been cleared for contact. Before getting the green light to play Sunday, Sutton will still need to get clearance from an independent neurologist prior to being removed from the five-step concussion protocol, something that could happen Friday or Saturday.
Jan 3, 2024
Returns to limited practice
Sutton (concussion) was limited at practice Wednesday, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Sutton didn't practice at all last week before being ruled out for Broncos' Week 17 win over the Chargers. The wideout's return to a limited session Wednesday has him trending in the right direction ahead of Sunday's season finale against the Raiders, but with Denver eliminated from playoff contention the team has little incentive to play Sutton this weekend if there's any doubt about his status as Week 18 action approaches.
Dec 29, 2023
Ruled out for Week 17
Coach Sean Payton said Friday that Sutton (concussion) won't play Sunday against the Chargers, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Sutton departed in the first half of this past Sunday's loss to the Patriots and eventually was diagnosed with a concussion. He proceeded to miss practice both Wednesday and Thursday before the Broncos made a decision on his availability for Week 17. With Sutton sitting out Sunday, the Broncos' receiving corps will be paced by Jerry Jeudy, with Brandon Johnson, Lil'Jordan Humphrey and potentially Marvin Mims (hamstring) mixing in behind him.
Dec 28, 2023
Misses another practice
Sutton (concussion) remained sidelined at practice Thursday, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Sutton thus has one more chance to practice ahead of Sunday's game against the Chargers. If he's unable to gain clearance to play this weekend, Jerry Jeudy, Marvin Mims (hamstring/LP on Thursday), Brandon Johnson and Lil'Jordan Humphrey would profile as QB Jarrett Stidham's top WR targets in Week 17.
Dec 27, 2023
Not able to practice
Sutton (concussion) didn't practice Wednesday, Ryan McFadden of The Denver Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Sutton's absence is to be expected less than 72 hours after he suffered a concussion in the first half of Sunday night's loss to the Patriots. He'll catch passes from Jarrett Stidham rather than Russell Wilson if he clears the concussion protocol in time for a matchup with the Chargers this Sunday.
Dec 24, 2023
In concussion protocol
Head coach Sean Payton confirmed Sunday that Sutton has been placed in concussion protocol, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Sutton was forced out of Sunday's primetime contest early in the first half, and it's confirmed the touchdown target has been placed in concussion protocol. Expect the team to provide more details throughout the week.
Dec 24, 2023
Ruled out for rest of game
Sutton (head) will not return to Sunday's game against the Patriots, James Palmer of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Sutton was evaluated for a head injury in the first half of Sunday's contest in the first half, and it turns out his night has come to an early end. It remains to be seen if he will miss any further time, but he will have to clear the league's concussion protocol before taking the field again.
Dec 24, 2023
Undergoing concussion check
Sutton is being evaluated for a possible head injury, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.
ANALYSIS
No further details were immediately available, but it remains to be seen if Sutton will return to Sunday's contest. His status will be updated again when more details are available.
Dec 17, 2023
Records 71 yards
Sutton recorded five receptions on six targets for 71 yards in Saturday's 42-17 loss to the Lions.
ANALYSIS
Sutton has been productive primarily by reaching the end zone this season. While he failed to do so Saturday, he led the team in receptions and tallied four receptions that went for double-digit gains. Sutton's performance marked the fourth time he's topped 70 yards this season but for only the second time in six games since Denver's Week 9 bye.
Dec 10, 2023
Seventh TD in last eight games
Sutton caught three of four targets for 62 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 24-7 win over the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Most of Sutton's production came on a sensational 46-yard touchdown catch in the third quarter, which he made with one hand despite being interfered with. It was the 10th touchdown catch of the season for Denver's top receiver, who has scored in seven of his last eight games. Sutton will look to build on his recent success in Saturday's Week 15 matchup with the Lions.
Dec 3, 2023
Scores ninth touchdown
Sutton recorded two receptions on seven targets for 77 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 22-17 loss to the Texans.
ANALYSIS
Sutton led the Broncos in targets but spent much of the game squandering his opportunity. That changed late in the third quarter when he made an acrobatic 45-yard touchdown grab, just reaching the front pylon as he was touched down. Sutton has now found the end zone in six of his last seven games and nine times on the campaign, even though he's topped 75 receiving yards in a game only three times this season.
Nov 26, 2023
Three grabs in Sunday's win
Sutton caught three of six targets for 61 yards in Sunday's 29-12 win over the Browns.
ANALYSIS
Russell Wilson only attempted 22 passes on the day as the Broncos lead wire to wire, but Sutton still paced the team in receiving yards and nearly extended his touchdown streak to six games with a 31-yard gain on the opening drive that saw him pushed out of bounds at the Cleveland three-yard line. Samaje Perine scored instead on the next play. While Sutton's TD streak is over, he remains the team's top receiving option with a 48-560-8 line on 68 targets through 11 contests heading into a Week 13 clash with the Texans.
Nov 20, 2023
Catches game-winning TD
Sutton hauled in four of his five targets for 66 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 21-20 victory over the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
Sutton made the play of the game when he leaped over his defender after running a corner route to grab a lob from Russell Wilson for the game-winning score. The QB/WR duo have already connected in the red zone a whopping eight times this season, resulting in all eight of Sutton's touchdowns through nine games. The 28-year-old has still yet to eclipse the century mark in receiving yards in any game this year, which might suggest that the wideout's current high ranking in fantasy is being inflated by an unsustainable touchdown rate. Cautions aside, Sutton should continue to be deployed confidently in fantasy lineups, even with a tough matchup against the Browns looming next Sunday.
Nov 13, 2023
Scores in fourth straight
Sutton recorded eight receptions on 11 targets for 53 yards and a touchdown in Monday's 24-22 win over the Bills.
ANALYSIS
Sutton remained Russell Wilson's favorite target, as no other pass catcher on the team saw more than four opportunities. Even with a long gain of 30 yards, Sutton managed to average only 6.6 yards per catch. He overcame the lack of big-play ability with a spectacular toe-tapping seven-yard touchdown reception midway through the first quarter. Sutton has now found the end zone in four consecutive games but has topped 50 receiving yards only twice in that span.
Oct 30, 2023
Nabs sixth TD in upset win
Sutton had two receptions on three targets for 29 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 24-9 win over Kansas City.
ANALYSIS
The Broncos entire receiving corps saw a dip in volume Sunday as Russell Wilson attempting just 19 passes in Sunday's win. Sutton's two catches actually tied fellow starter Jerry Jeudy for the most receptions from Denver's wideouts Sunday. The good news for fantasy is that both players were able to cash in touchdowns despite seeing fewer targets than usual. Sutton's late touchdown to seal victory for his club was his sixth of the season, tying his previous best from 2019 in eight fewer games. The veteran receiver will now receive some extra recovery time as Denver enters its bye in Week 9, resuming play against the Bills on Monday Night Football in Week 10.
Oct 22, 2023
Scores in win
Sutton caught all six of his targets for 76 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 19-17 win over the Packers.
ANALYSIS
Sutton led Denver in all major receiving categories. His performance was highlighted by an 18-yard touchdown during the third quarter. Through seven appearances, Sutton has now found the end zone five times, giving him good value ahead of Week 8's game versus the Chiefs.
Oct 12, 2023
Bounces back with TD grab in loss
Sutton secured four of six targets for 46 yards and a touchdown in the Broncos' 19-8 loss to the Chiefs on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Sutton's modest reception, yardage and target totals all led the Broncos on the night, and he was also the only one on his squad to visit the end zone. The veteran wideout's 11-yard scoring grab in the fourth quarter was a highlight-reel catch, with Sutton securing the ball with his right hand and keeping his feet inbounds while falling and being smothered by Chiefs cornerback Jaylen Watson. Sutton has somehow manage to mostly sidestep the malaise that's hung over the Broncos for most of the season, already recording three touchdown receptions after not having eclipsed two since 2019 and posting at least four catches in four of six games. Sutton's next opportunity to add to his solid start comes in a Week 7 home matchup against the Packers on Sunday, Oct. 22.
Oct 9, 2023
Held to one catch Sunday
Sutton had one reception on three targets for 13 yards in Sunday's 31-21 loss to the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Sutton couldn't create separation against the Jets' secondary, failing to record a reception until late in the fourth quarter. It would wind up being the veteran wideout's lone reception in an overall forgettable performance. Sutton was providing consistent fantasy value with three touchdowns in the four games prior to Sunday's dud. Luckily he won't have much time to dwell on his down performance as the Broncos play on Thursday against the Chiefs in Week 6.
Oct 1, 2023
Has TD in three of four games
Sutton caught three of five targets for 27 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 31-28 win over Chicago.
ANALYSIS
Sutton actually tied Jerry Jeudy for the team lead in both targets and catches, as Denver erased a 21-point deficit despite running only 47 offensive plays to Chicago's 66. The 6-foot-4 Sutton has caught a touchdown in three of four games in 2023, and he has already surpassed last season's total of two touchdowns in 15 games. He'll look to build on this hot start in Week 5 against the Jets.
Sep 24, 2023
Busy day in blowout loss
Sutton brought in eight of 11 targets for 91 yards and a touchdown in the Broncos' 70-20 loss to the Dolphins on Sunday. He also lost two fumbles.
ANALYSIS
Sutton led the Broncos in receptions, receiving yards and targets on a day when Denver simply had no chance of keeping up with a juggernaut of a Dolphins offense. The veteran wideout's performance was one of the few positives for head coach Sean Payton's squad, although his two fumbles did lead to Miami touchdowns, albeit when the game was essentially out of reach. Sutton partly atoned with a 12-yard scoring grab and also set new season highs across the stat sheet. The 27-year-old has looked like a smooth fit in Payton's system thus far, and his fantasy prospects are bright going into a favorable Week 4 road matchup against the Bears.
Sep 17, 2023
Nabs five receptions Sunday
Sutton caught five of seven targets for 66 yards in Sunday's 35-33 loss to Washington.
ANALYSIS
Sutton finished with the most targets ahead of fellow starter Jerry Jeudy, but it was rookie Marvin Mims (2-113-1) who stole the show as the fantasy standout for Denver on Sunday. The veteran wideout still put together a decent fantasy game after logging his first touchdown of 2023 last week. Sutton retains his high fantasy floor heading into a Week 3 matchup against the Dolphins next Sunday.
Sep 10, 2023
Finds end zone in Week 1 loss
Sutton brought in four of five targets for 32 yards and a touchdown in the Broncos' 17-16 loss to the Raiders on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Sutton couldn't benefit much from the absence of Jerry Jeudy (hamstring), but he did salvage his day from a fantasy perspective with a five-yard touchdown grab. The veteran saw quarterback Russell Wilson spread the ball around to 10 different players, although he did co-lead the team in targets with tight end Adam Trautman. Wilson and the rest of the offense are likely to become more productive the more they acclimate to new head coach Sean Payton's offensive concepts, so Sutton could have a chance to improve his overall production in a Week 2 home matchup against the Commanders, irrespective of Jeudy's availability.
Aug 25, 2023
Impressing at camp
Offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi said the team has been "real impressed" with Sutton during training camp and added that the Broncos will rely on him a lot in the upcoming campaign, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.
ANALYSIS
After what was a disappointing year for Sutton in 2022, it appears the Broncos are committed to utilizing the veteran receiver in a significant role this season. An increased reliance on Sutton in the passing game could become a matter of necessity to start the season as fellow wideout Jerry Jeudy (hamstring) is set to miss several weeks after an injury suffered during practice Thursday. The 27-year-old is set to headline Denver's receiving corps while Jeudy is on the mend, with rookie Marvin Mims potentially stepping into the No. 2 role for the time being. If the Broncos' offense can turn things around in 2023, Sutton could be headed toward a bounce-back year for fantasy purposes.
Aug 16, 2023
Back in action
Sutton (undisclosed) participated in Wednesday's practice, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Sutton worked out on a side field during Monday's practice, but he's back in action Wednesday, with DiLalla noting that the wideout has been having a strong training camp. As the coming season approaches, Sutton, Jerry Jeudy and Marvin Mims are slated to lead Denver's WR corps. On the heels of a 2022 campaign in which he logged a 64-829-2 line on 109 targets in 15 contests, Sutton's fantasy upside in 2023 hinges largely on starting QB Russell Wilson engineering a bounce-back campaign.
Aug 14, 2023
Doesn't practice Monday
Sutton (undisclosed) worked out on a side field Monday instead of participating in practice, Zac Stevens of DNVR Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Sutton caught three of five targets for 35 yards in Friday's preseason opener against Arizona, but he may have been dinged up over the course of the game. While the cause of Sutton's absence has yet to be identified, it wouldn't be surprising if he sat out Denver's next preseason game against the 49ers on Saturday to ensure he's healthy for the regular season, which is less than a month away.
Aug 4, 2023
Slims down, looking quick
Sutton lost a little weight in the offseason and has been praised by coaches for improving his releases off the line of scrimmage, James Palmer of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Sutton is one of the many Broncos looking to rebound after a disappointing 2022, though in his case it's been a multi-year slump ever since he put up 1,112 yards in 2019 and then tore his ACL in 2020. While it was easy to make excuses when he managed only 776 yards in 2021 -- his first year back from the severe knee injury -- it's discouraging that he put up a similar stat line in 2022 even after the Broncos traded for QB Russell Wilson. Granted, Wilson was from the best version of himself last year, in part because the Broncos were regularly outcoached under Nathaniel Hackett's mis-leadership. The hiring of Sean Payton offers realistic hope for a rebound, but Sutton nonetheless has lost much of his luster as a fantasy prospect after finishing last year slow at the same time fellow Broncos wideout Jerry Jeudy was on a tear. Jeudy thus tends to go about 4-5 rounds ahead of Sutton in fantasy drafts, with both potentially rising now that injuries have thinned out the team's previously deep WR room, which could c
Jan 8, 2023
Breaks scoring drought in finale
Sutton secured three of seven targets for 33 yards and a touchdown in the Broncos' 31-28 win over the Chargers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Sutton was able to cross the goal line for the first time since Week 4 on a 20-yard scoring grab early in the fourth quarter. The 2018 second-round pick missed two games with injuries and also was naturally affected by Russell Wilson's significant growing pains in his first Broncos campaign, but Sutton still finished with a solid 64-829-2 line on 109 targets across 15 contests. The fifth-year pro should be a critical factor in any improvement Wilson displays in 2023, potentially under the purview of a marquee head coach with significant offensive pedigree such as Sean Payton.
Jan 1, 2023
Four grabs in loss
Sutton caught four of six targets for 44 yards in Sunday's 27-24 loss to the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Sutton had yet another underwhelming fantasy day even as the Broncos kept pace with the Chiefs on Sunday. His six targets were the second-most of any Denver receiver behind Jerry Jeudy The wideout failed to find the end zone in the contest, and he only has one touchdown on the season that he scored in Week 4 against Las Vegas. Needless to say, the 2022 season will be one to forget for the 27-year-old. Sutton and the rest of the offense have a lot to work on to try and meet the expectations set forth ahead of this season as they look toward the 2023 campaign. Before that, the veteran will have the opportunity for a bounce-back performance when the Broncos host the Chargers in Week 18.
Dec 30, 2022
No designation for Sunday
Sutton (hamstring) doesn't have a designation for Sunday's game in Kansas City, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Sutton picked up a hamstring injury Week 13 at Baltimore and sat out the next two games as a result. He was able to return this past Sunday at the Rams, hauling in five of seven targets for 64 yards on a 79 percent snap share. Fellow wide receivers Jerry Jeudy (ankle) and Kendall Hinton (hamstring) are questionable for Week 17 action, so if one or both sit out Sunday, Sutton could be in line for even more targets.
Dec 29, 2022
Stays limited in practice
Sutton (hamstring) will be a limited participant in Thursday's practice, Jeff Legwold of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Sutton hasn't graduated to full practice activity since suffering his hamstring injury in the Broncos' Week 13 loss to Baltimore, but it didn't prevent him from putting an end to a two-game absence and playing Christmas Day in Los Angeles. In the Broncos' 51-14 loss to the Rams, Sutton played 79 percent of the snaps on offense and finished with five catches for 64 yards on seven targets. The Broncos haven't indicated that Sutton suffered a setback with the hamstring in that game, and his continued participation in practice in any capacity suggests he's trending toward suiting up this weekend in Kansas City.
Dec 28, 2022
Logs limited practice
Sutton (hamstring) was limited at practice Wednesday, Ellie Kinney of the Broncos' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The sample applies to fellow wide receivers Jerry Jeudy (ankle), and Kendall Hinton (hamstring), with the trio's status worth monitoring as Sunday's game against the Chiefs approaches. Sutton was back in action in Week 16 after missing two games with a hamstring issue and logged a 79 percent snaps share in Denver's 51-14 loss to the Rams, so it's possible that his Wednesday limitations were maintenance-related.
Dec 25, 2022
Gains 64 yards in return
Sutton (hamstring) caught five of seven targets for 64 yards in Sunday's 51-14 loss to the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Fantasy managers welcomed Sutton back after a two-week layoff due to a bum hamstring. The 27-year-old performed well and didn't appear to suffer any setbacks in the blowout loss. Sutton could be in line for heavy usage if the Broncos have to play catch up with Patrick Mahomes and Kansas City's high-powered offense on New Year's Day.
Dec 25, 2022
Active for Sunday's game
Sutton (hamstring) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Sutton, who last suited up in Week 13, was able to practice in a limited fashion all week and he'll be back in action Sunday to work alongside fellow starting wideout Jerry Jeudy in a game that also marks the return of QB Russell Wilson, who was held out of Week 15 action due to concussion issues. In the absence of any in-game setbacks versus Los Angeles, Sutton is poised to reclaim a key role in Denver's offense after having recorded a 52-688-1 line on 89 targets through 12 contests to date.
Dec 23, 2022
Optimistic about playing Sunday
Sutton (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Rams, but he said Friday he's in a good position to play, Parker Gabriel of The Denver Post reports. ""Yeah, I think if everything goes the way we want it to go and it keeps trending in the right direction like we want it to, it'll be nice to be able to go out there, play on Sunday and help the team," Sutton said.
ANALYSIS
Coming off two straight absences due to the hamstring injury, Sutton took part in each of Denver's three Week 16 practices, albeit as a limited participant on every occasion. The lack of a full practice prevented Sutton from approaching the contest without a designation, but he seems likely to get cleared ahead of Sunday's 4:30 p.m. ET kickoff, provided he experiences no setbacks over the next 48 hours. If Sutton suited up Sunday, it would mark the first time that both he and fellow starting wideout Jerry Jeudy played on a full-time basis since Week 8 (Jeudy played one snap before departing a Week 10 loss to Tennessee). Denver isn't left with much established depth behind the two wideouts, as the team is down to Brandon Johnson, Freddie Swain, Jalen Virgil and Montrell Washington as their other options at receiver with Kendall Hinton (hamstring) already ruled out for the Week 16 game.
Dec 23, 2022
Questionable for Sunday's game
Sutton (hamstring) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Rams, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Sutton -- who last saw game action in Week 13 -- has been able to practice all week, which appears to bode well for his chances of suiting up this weekend, but his status will need to be confirmed prior to Sunday's 4:30 ET kickoff. If available, Sutton would be in line to reclaim a key role in Denver's offense opposite fellow WR Jerry Jeudy. Through 12 contests prior to his injury, Sutton compiled a 52-688-1 line on 89 targets.
Dec 23, 2022
Practices again Friday
Sutton (hamstring) practiced Friday, Jeff Legwold of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Sutton's participation level will be clarified when Denver's injury report comes out later Friday, but he has participated to some extent in every practice leading up to Sunday's game against the Rams. The wide receiver appears set to make his return, as is quarterback Russell Wilson (concussion).
Dec 22, 2022
Set for another limited practice
Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hackett said Sutton (hamstring) will be a limited participant in Thursday's practice, Jeff Legwold of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Sutton's reps will be capped for the second day in a row while he works back from a hamstring injury, but the fact that the wideout remains on the field in any capacity continues to bode well for his chances of ending his two-game absence Sunday against the Rams. Before deciding whether Sutton carries a designation into the Christmas Day game, the Broncos will wait and see if the receiver can increase his activity during their final practice of the week Friday.
Dec 21, 2022
Returning to practice
Coach Nathaniel Hackett indicated that Sutton (hamstring) will return to a limited practice Wednesday, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Hackett previously noted that the Broncos are "definitely hoping" that Sutton is able to play against the Rams on Sunday, with the wideout's return to practice Wednesday representing a step in the right direction toward that potential outcome. Sutton, who last suited up for game action in Week 13, didn't practice at all last week.
Dec 19, 2022
Could return in Week 16
Coach Nathaniel Hackett noted Monday that the Broncos are "definitely hoping" Sutton (hamstring) is able to play Sunday against the Rams, Aric DiLalla of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Sutton, who last suited up in Week 13, didn't practice last week, but if the wideout is able to take the field in the coming days, it's possible that he could return to the lineup this weekend. Prior to his injury, Sutton had put together a 52/688/1 stat line (on 89 targets) through 12 contests.
Dec 16, 2022
Not slated to play Sunday
Sutton (hamstring) won't play Sunday against the Cardinals, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com and Parker Gabriel of The Denver Post report.
ANALYSIS
The same goes for Kendall Hinton (hamstring), which sets the stage for Jerry Jeudy to lead the Broncos' Week 15 wideout corps, with Brandon Johnson, Jalen Virgil, Montrell Washington and Freddie Swain also in the mix to catch passes this weekend from QB Brett Rypien, who will be filling in for Russell Wilson (concussion).
Dec 15, 2022
Still not practicing
Sutton (hamstring) didn't participate in Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Before giving Sutton a designation for Sunday's game against the Cardinals, the Broncos will wait and see if the receiver can log any reps during their final Week 15 practice Friday. However, with Sutton having sat out last week's loss to the Chiefs and not practicing in any fashion yet this week, his chances of suiting up versus Arizona don't seem promising. In addition to Sutton, the Broncos could be down another key receiver in Kendall Hinton, who also sat out for the second day in a row Thursday due to a hamstring injury.
Dec 14, 2022
Missing another practice
Sutton (hamstring) isn't practicing Wednesday, Troy Renck of Denver 7 News reports.
ANALYSIS
Sutton missed Sunday's 34-28 loss to the Chiefs in which Jerry Jeudy scored a trio of touchdowns. QB Russell Wilson suffered a concussion during the contest and isn't practicing Wednesday, but he might still make it back before Sutton.
Dec 9, 2022
Won't play Sunday
Sutton (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Chiefs, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
With Sutton unavailable, Kendall Hinton and Brandon Johnson are candidates to log added WR snaps for the Broncos this weekend alongside Jerry Jeudy (ankle). Sutton will now target a potential return to action in Week 15 against the Cardinals.
Dec 8, 2022
Misses another practice
Sutton (hamstring) remained sidelined at practice Thursday, Ellie Kinney of the Broncos' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Coach Nathaniel Hackett previously noted that Sutton -- who also missed practice Wednesday -- is unlikely to play Sunday against the Chiefs. If he is ruled out for the contest, Kendall Hinton and Brandon Johnson would be in line to log added WR snaps for Denver in Week 14.
Dec 7, 2022
Unlikely to play this week
Coach Nathaniel Hackett said Sutton (hamstring) won't practice Wednesday and is "not looking good" for Sunday's matchup with the Chiefs, Nick Kosmider of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Sutton didn't play in the second half of Sunday's 10-9 loss to Baltimore, leaving Jerry Jeudy, Kendall Hinton and Brandon Johnson as Denver's top three wide receivers. Jeudy played limited snaps his first game back from an ankle injury but now looks like the favorite to lead Denver in targets Sunday against the Chiefs.
Dec 5, 2022
Deemed 'day-to-day' by Hackett
Coach Nathaniel Hackett termed Sutton (hamstring) "day-to-day" Monday, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Sutton exited Sunday's 10-9 loss at Baltimore with a hamstring injury, leaving him without a catch on his only target on a 43 percent share of snaps. On Monday, Mike Klis of 9 News Denver reported that Sutton was slated for an MRI and potentially in danger of missing multiple games. While the results of the exam aren't known, Hackett's comment seems to indicate Sutton avoided the worst-case scenario. Sutton's status will be monitored in advance of Sunday's contest against the Chiefs, but any sort of absence for him would result in additional reps for Brandon Johnson, Montrell Washington and Jalen Virgil behind Jerry Jeudy and Kendall Hinton.
Dec 5, 2022
Could face multi-game absence
Sutton is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Monday, and the Broncos have some concern that he could miss multiple games after exiting the team's Week 13 loss to the Ravens with a hamstring injury, Mike Klis of 9 News Denver reports.
ANALYSIS
Not only did Sutton disappoint fantasy managers by going without a reception across his 23 snaps on offense in Sunday's 10-9 loss to Baltimore, but he looks as though he could be at risk of missing time during the fantasy playoffs on account of the hamstring issue that sidelined him for the entire second half of the contest. The Broncos won't have an update on Sutton until the results of his MRI are available, but the team could be forced to rely on some combination of Montrell Washington, Brandon Johnson and Jalen Virgil to pick up reps in three-receiver sets alongside Jerry Jeudy and Kendall Hinton if Sutton's injury sidelines him for any length of time.
Dec 4, 2022
Picks up hamstring injury
Sutton is questionable to return Sunday against the Ravens due to a hamstring injury.
ANALYSIS
Sutton failed to haul in his only target before suffering the hamstring injury. The Broncos placed KJ Hamler (hamstring) on IR this week, so if Sutton is unable to return, Kendall Hinton, Brandon Johnson and Montrell Washington would be candidates for increased snaps behind Jerry Jeudy.
Dec 4, 2022
Good to go Sunday
Sutton (illness) is active for Sunday's game against the Ravens, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Sutton was added to the Broncos' injury report with a questionable designation after an illness prevented him from practicing Friday. The 27-year-old showed good progress when he was re-evaluated Saturday, however, and he's now been cleared to take the field Sunday. Expect Sutton to step back into his usual starting role for the Broncos, though he could get some more competition for targets with fellow wideout Jerry Jeudy (ankle) making his return from a two-game absence.
Dec 3, 2022
Optimism for Sunday
Sutton, who is currently listed as questionable with an illness, progressed well Saturday and is trending towards playing Sunday against the Ravens, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports.
ANALYSIS
The Broncos didn't change the injury status of their star wide receiver and also promoted wide receiver Brandon Johnson to the active roster, but it still sounds as if Sutton is progressing to the point where he would be available for Sunday's contest. Expect more information to trickle out prior to the 1:00 p.m. afternoon kickoff.
Dec 2, 2022
Questionable due to illness
Coach Nathaniel Hackett said Sutton is questionable for Sunday's game in Baltimore due to an illness, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hackett specifically referred to the ailment as a "stomach bug," so Sutton's status will be one to watch closely as Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff approaches. Fortunately, the early start affords fantasy managers plenty of options to pivot to if Sutton is unavailable. However, if he is able to suit up, Sutton will be the clear No. 1 wide receiver for quarterback Russell Wilson and the Broncos offense, especially with Jerry Jeudy (ankle) also questionable and KJ Hamler (hamstring) ruled out.
Nov 27, 2022
Leading receiver in Week 12 loss
Sutton caught six of eight targets for 75 yards in Sunday's 23-10 loss to the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
Sutton accounted for more than half of Russell Wilson's 142 passing yards. The 6-foot-4 wide receiver has totaled 66 or more yards in each of his last three appearances, but Sutton's stuck on just one touchdown in a low-octane Denver offense. He'll remain an integral part of the offense in Week 13 against the Ravens regardless of fellow wide receiver Jerry Jeudy's (ankle) status.
Nov 20, 2022
Steps up in absence of Jeudy
Sutton recorded five catches on seven targets for 80 yards in Sunday's 22-16 loss to the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
Russell Wilson spread the ball around, as seven Denver pass catchers drew multiple targets. However, Sutton led the way in targets, receptions and yards while posting his highest yardage total since Week 3. Two of his five catches went for more than 20 yards, also marking the first time he's managed multiple big plays in a game since Week 2. Sutton managed that production in the absence of Jerry Jeudy (ankle), and he should be the top pass catcher once in Week 12 against Carolina assuming Jeudy remains sidelined.
Nov 13, 2022
Matches season-high 11 targets
Sutton recorded six receptions on 11 targets for 66 yards in Sunday's 17-10 loss to Tennessee.
ANALYSIS
Jerry Jeudy (ankle) exited the game on Denver's first offensive play, which opened up the path for Sutton to dominate targets. He largely did so, matching his season-high in targets while nearly doubling everyone else in the offense. His efficiency was less inspiring, as he averaged only six yards per target and his longest catch of the day went for 17 yards. Sutton entered the game having recorded 50 total yards combined across his last three contests, so this performance was a step forward. However, with only one touchdown and one 100-yard effort, his season has been a disappointment to this point.
Nov 1, 2022
Musters one catch Sunday
Sutton notched one catch (on four targets) for 13 yards during Sunday's 21-17 win against the Jaguars.
ANALYSIS
Despite leading Broncos wide receivers in snap share (95 percent), Sutton extending his quiet stretch to three games, a span in which he's compiled a 6-50-0- line on 16 targets. Russell Wilson hasn't stopped looking Sutton's way, but connections are few and far between after putting together a 29-417-1 line on 46 targets through the first five contests of the campaign. With a bye week on tap Week 9, Sutton and Wilson now will turn their focus to a Week 10 road matchup with the Titans, who currently boast the 24th-ranked pass defense (254.7 yards per game).
Oct 23, 2022
Can't get going
Sutton recorded three receptions on nine targets for 23 yards in Sunday's 16-9 loss to the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Sutton saw plenty of opportunity with Brett Rypien under center, but the pair struggled to get on the same page. He was also covered closely for much of the game by Sauce Gardner -- including on a shot in the end zone that could have tied the game late in the fourth quarter. Sutton has seen at least seven targets in all but one of seven games this season and had produced relatively consistently until the last two contests when he's combined to post only 37 yards.
Oct 18, 2022
Lacks opportunity in loss
Sutton recorded two receptions on three targets for 14 yards in Sunday's 19-16 loss to the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Sutton entered the game having seen a minimum of seven targets, though he failed to reach half that mark in Monday's loss. Unsurprisingly, he also posted season-low marks in receptions and yards in a generally poor performance. While it's likely a safe bet that Sutton will bounce back in Week 7 against the Jets, the current state of Denver's offense makes it difficult to rely upon any player to consistently produce.
Oct 7, 2022
Solid numbers in loss
Sutton secured five of 11 targets for 74 yards in the Broncos' 12-9 overtime loss to the Colts on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Sutton's reception, receiving yardage and target totals led the Broncos on the night, but what would have been his most critical catch, a would-be game-winning touchdown grab in overtime on fourth down, didn't materialize. Sutton has demonstrated plenty of early chemistry with Russell Wilson, however, having drawn 47 targets through five games and parlaying them into a 29-417-1 line. Sutton and the rest of the air attack will look to finally get in sync during the extra time afforded them ahead of a Week 6 Monday night road divisional showdown versus the Chargers.
Oct 2, 2022
Gets into end zone against Raiders
Sutton caught five of seven targets for 52 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 32-23 loss to the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
The wide receiver got the Broncos on the board in the first quarter with a five-yard TD grab, his first score of the season. Sutton's 52 yards were his lowest total in four games, however, and his seven targets tied for fewest as well. With Russell Wilson growing more comfortable in the offense and Javonte Williams (knee) potentially set to miss time, Sutton could have a much bigger role in Week 5 against the Colts.
Sep 26, 2022
Leads team with 97 yards
Sutton finished with nine receptions (10 targets) for 97 yards in Sunday's 11-10 win over San Francisco.
ANALYSIS
This was an ugly offensive game for Denver, and Sutton was one of the few players to have notable fantasy days. Fellow starting wideout, Jerry Jeudy (ribs), wasn't at full strength, so Sutton saw heavy usage for the second week in a row. The 26-year-old has put together a strong start to the season, accruing 20 receptions (28 targets) and 291 yards through three games. Sutton could increase his stock further if Russell Wilson can find his large-framed wideout the end zone for the first time this season in a soft matchup against Las Vegas next Sunday.
Sep 18, 2022
Catches seven passes in win
Sutton caught seven of 11 targets for 122 yards in Sunday's 16-9 win over the Texans. He added one rush for five yards.
ANALYSIS
Sutton's 11 targets and seven catches led the Broncos in both categories. The connection developed this offseason between Sutton and Russell Wilson was on full display Sunday. Unfortunately, Denver's offense struggled through most of the contest, as was the case in Week 1. The veteran wideout could have had a bigger day for fantasy purposes had he kept his foot inbounds on a two-yard touchdown grab in the first quarter that was ultimately overturned. Nonetheless, Sutton's volume was a promising sign going forward, as the offense will likely continue to iron out the kinks as the season progresses. Additionally, fellow wideout Jerry Jeudy exited the game with a rib injury, so Sutton could be leaned on heavily once again if Jeudy misses time. The 6-foot-4 receiver will have a chance to build upon his solid performance when the Broncos host the 49ers in Week 3.
Sep 13, 2022
Four catches in Wilson's debut
Sutton caught four of seven targets for 72 yards in Monday's 17-16 loss to Seattle.
ANALYSIS
Sutton had just one catch for 30 yards on two targets as the Broncos took a 17-13 deficit into the locker room, but he was more involved in the second half as Russell Wilson started to look downfield more often. Both Sutton and Jerry Jeudy caught four of seven targets, but running back Javonte Williams saw the most volume in the passing game with 11 catches for 65 yards on 12 targets. Sutton doesn't look like the clear top weapon in Seattle's passing game, but the 6-foot-4 receiver should serve as a key target for Wilson on a weekly basis, including Week 2 against the Texans.
Aug 27, 2022
Not in line to play Saturday
Sutton isn't expected to play in Saturday's preseason contest against the Vikings, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Both Sutton and Jerry Jeudy weren't in uniform ahead of Saturday's 9:00 p.m. ET kickoff, meaning KJ Hamler (knee), who is in line to get his first game action since Week 3 last season, and Montrell Washington should serve as Denver's top options at wide receiver in preseason Week 3. Sutton thus will turn his focus to a Week 1 matchup against new quarterback Russell Wilson's old team the Seahawks on Monday, Sept. 12.
Aug 20, 2022
Not in uniform Saturday
Sutton and most other starters aren't in uniform for Saturday's preseason game at Buffalo, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The list of players not in uniform includes Jerry Jeudy, Javonte Williams, Melvin Gordon and KJ Hamler (knee), while QB Russell Wilson is in uniform but not expected to play. Tight end Albert Okwuegbunam is one of the more notable players suited up for the game, and this could be his second straight week seeing action while most starters are held out. Offensive coordinator Justin Outten recently said Wilson won't play this preseason, so it shouldn't be any surprise if Sutton and Jeudy are held out as well.
Aug 10, 2022
Practices fully
Sutton (shoulder) returned to a full practice Wednesday, Ellie Kinney of The Broncos' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Coach Nathaniel Hackett noted Tuesday that the wideout was working though "a little shoulder thing." The minor nature of the issue was confirmed by Sutton's return to practice Wednesday and the 26-year-old can now resume building his on-field chemistry with new franchise QB, Russell Wilson. With Tim Patrick (knee) set the miss the coming season, Sutton and Jerry Jeudy profile as the Broncos' clear-cut top options at wide receiver, with the duo's fantasy prospects bolstered by the likelihood that they'll see steady volume and benefit from the signal-caller upgrade that Wilson represents.
Aug 9, 2022
Dealing with shoulder issue
Though Sutton (shoulder) was present for Tuesday's practice, he didn't participate in wide receiver or team drills, Ellie Kinney of the Broncos' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Afterward, coach Nathaniel Hackett relayed that the Broncos' starting wideout is working though "a little shoulder thing." With that in mind, consider Sutton day-to-day ahead of Saturday's preseason opener against the Cowboys.
Aug 3, 2022
Needs to step up in 2022
Sutton will remain one of Denver's top options in the passing game following Tim Patrick's season-ending knee injury Tuesday, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Sutton will likely need to elevate his level of play next season after Patrick suffered a torn ACL during Tuesday's practice. The latter was one of the team's emotional leaders, as well as one of the Broncos' most reliable and consistent pass catchers. In Patrick's absence, Sutton will almost certainly need to improve as a playmaker in order to help the offense take a step forward in 2022. The 26-year-old finished the 2021 campaign with 58 catches for 776 yards and two touchdowns in 17 games. Teammate Jerry Jeudy should also look to step up next season, while KJ Hamler profiles as the No. 3 wideout on the depth chart moving forward.
Mar 20, 2022
Restructures deal with Denver
The Broncos converted $10.5 million of Sutton's contract into a signing bonus Sunday to create $7.875 million in salary cap room, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Sutton inked a four-year, $60.8 million extension with the Broncos in November, and it didn't take long for the team to rework the deal in order to create some cap space. The 26-year-old caught 58 of 98 targets for 776 yards and two touchdowns in 17 games last season, and his outlook for 2022 is on the rise since Denver will have a major upgrade at quarterback following the acquisition of Russell Wilson.
Jan 12, 2022
Quiet in season finale
Sutton caught one of three targets for 13 yards while also completing his only pass for 16 yards in Saturday's 28-24 loss to the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Sutton ended the season in underwhelming fashion, much like his production throughout 2021. The 26-year-old finished the season with 58 catches for 776 yards and just two touchdowns. While many felt that Sutton had the potential for a big year, an ineffective passing game and shaky quarterback play contributed to his lack of success. In November, the veteran wideout signed a four-year, $60.8 million contract with the Broncos, so it is clear that the team sees him as a big part of their future. The Broncos could look to free agency or the draft in order to address their quarterback woes, as neither Teddy Bridgewater or Drew Lock appear to be the long-term answer at the position. An upgrade at quarterback could be what helps to take this offense to the next level and make Sutton a fantasy star. With Sutton, Jerry Jeudy, Tim Patrick and Noah Fant, the Broncos have an attractive group of pass catchers that may very well attract a high-level free agent signal caller to Denver.
Jan 2, 2022
Three grabs against Bolts
Sutton caught three of five targets for 60 yards in Sunday's 34-13 loss to the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
With Jerry Jeudy and Tim Patrick both unable to clear the COVID-19 protocols in time to suit up Sunday, Sutton was the Broncos' top wideout and put together his best yardage total since Week 7. The team's passing game could be at full strength, including the return of Teddy Bridgewater (concussion), in Week 18 against Kansas City however, which would likely limit Sutton's upside.
Jan 2, 2022
Suits up Sunday
Sutton (illness) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Chargers, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Sutton, whom coach Vic Fangio indicated earlier in the week could potentially land on the reserve/COVID-19 list, approached the contest officially listed as questionable, but he's available Sunday after all. With Jerry Jeudy (illness) and Tim Patrick (illness) currently on the COVID list, Sutton -- whose production of late has been modest -- is a bounce-candidate versus Los Angeles, given that he seems likely to see his share of Week 17 targets while heading a wideout corps that also includes Kendall Hinton, Diontae Spencer, Seth Williams and Travis Fulgham.
Jan 1, 2022
In line to travel with team
Sutton (illness) has been cleared to travel with the Broncos in advance of Sunday's game against the Chargers, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
ANALYSIS
Sutton, who coach Vic Fangio previously indicated could land on reserve/COVID-19 list, is officially listed as questionable for Sunday's contest, but Rapoport indicates the wideout is expected to play against the Chargers. If so, Sutton could be busy in week 17, with Jerry Jeudy (illness) and Tim Patrick (illness) currently on the COVID list.
Dec 31, 2021
Listed as questionable for Sunday
Sutton (illness) was added to the Broncos' injury report Friday as questionable for Sunday's game against the Chargers after being listed as non-participant in Friday's walkthrough, Aric DiLalla of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Coach Vic Fangio previously relayed that Sutton may land on the reserve/COVID-19 list, but that hasn't happened as of Friday's posted transactions. That said, both Troy Renck of Denver 7 News and Mike Klis of 9News Denver indicate that Sutton's status is pending, so his availability remains worth monitoring closely now that he's officially questionable for Week 17 action. Fellow wideouts Jerry Jeudy (illness) and Tim Patrick (illness) are currently on the team's COVID list.
Dec 31, 2021
Could land on COVID list
Coach Vic Fangio relayed Friday that Sutton (undisclosed) may land on the reserve/COVID-19 list, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
If that happens, the Broncos' wideout depth for Sunday's game against the Chargers could be depleted, with Tim Patrick (illness) already on the COVID list and Jerry Jeudy expected to be officially placed on it later Friday. As things stand, Kendall Hinton and Diontae Spencer are currently the team's wide receivers without any Week 17 availability concerns, with practice squad promotions presumably looming.
Dec 29, 2021
Minimal production in loss
Sutton caught four of five targets for 33 yards in Sunday's 17-13 loss to the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
Sutton continues to be plagued by an ineffective passing game, though his 33 yards in Sunday's contest were good for his highest total in the last seven weeks. The 26-year-old wideout is having an extremely disappointing fantasy season, having found the end zone just twice all season and averaging just under 47 yards per game. Things likely won't get any easier in Week 17 when the Broncos visit the Chargers.
Dec 23, 2021
Upgrades to full activity
Sutton (wrist) was a full participant in Thursday's practice, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Sutton's reps were capped in the Broncos' first Week 16 session Wednesday, but his ability to upgrade to full activity a day later clears the way for him to play Sunday against the Raiders. With Teddy Bridgewater (concussion) ruled out for the contest, Sutton will be drawing targets this week from Drew Lock, who will be making his first start of thee season after previously coming on in relief of an injured Bridgewater on three other occasions. The quarterback change can't hurt Sutton's fantasy outlook, as he's been held to two or fewer receptions in each of the Broncos' last seven games after averaging 5.4 catches through the first seven contests.
Dec 22, 2021
Limited session Wednesday
Sutton (wrist) was listed as a limited practice participant Wednesday, Rachel Gossen of the Raiders' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Sutton's name popped up on the Broncos' fairly lengthy Week 16 injury report Wednesday, though it remains to be seen if his listed wrist issue is anything that might impact his status for this weekend's game against the Raiders. In this past Sunday's 15-10 loss to the Bengals, Sutton logged a 92 percent snap share, en route to catching just two passes for 12 yards.
Dec 19, 2021
Can't produce with seven targets
Sutton recorded two receptions on seven targets for 12 yards in Sunday's 15-10 loss to the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
Sutton led the team with seven targets, but he managed to finish only fourth on the team in both yards and receptions. Notably, he was targeted only twice in the second half with Drew Lock the primary quarterback after Teddy Bridgewater exited with a concussion. Regardless of who is under center in Denver, Sutton has been a large disappointment across the last seven games as he has yet to record more than two receptions or top 40 yards in that span.
Dec 14, 2021
Quiet in win
Sutton caught one of two targets for nine yards in Sunday's 38-10 win over the Lions.
ANALYSIS
Anyone hoping for a bounce back performance from Sutton in a favorable matchup against the Lions will be forced to wait another week. The wideout's one-catch performance Sunday was his latest in a string of disappointing fantasy days. In fact, since Jerry Jeudy's return in Week 8, Sutton is averaging roughly 19 receiving yards per game and has failed to have more than two catches in any of the last six contests. The 26-year-old is proving be extremely hard to trust with the fantasy playoffs ahead. Sutton's next three matchups against the Bengals, Raiders and Chargers make for a tough schedule down the stretch, so fantasy managers may want to look elsewhere.
Dec 7, 2021
Catches two passes in loss
Sutton caught two of six targets for 15 yards in Sunday's 22-9 loss to the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Sutton continued his streak of disappointing performances, making it four straight games with under 30 receiving yards. His six targets tied fellow wide receiver Jerry Jeudy, but it was running back Javonte Williams who saw a team-high nine targets against the Chiefs. The 26-year-old wideout is struggling to produce for fantasy, and he has become very difficult to trust each week with the Broncos' continued struggles through the air. Week 14 presents a possible bounce-back spot for Sutton, as the Broncos will host the Lions.
Nov 28, 2021
Quiet in Sunday's win
Sutton caught two of three targets for 17 yards in Sunday's 28-13 win over the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
None of the Broncos' big three wideouts reached 30 receiving yards in the game, as Denver's defense and running backs carried the day. Sutton has now gone three straight games with three targets or fewer and under 30 yards, making him a risky option in Week 13 against Kansas City.
Nov 22, 2021
Agrees to four-year extension
The Broncos and Sutton agreed to terms Monday on a four-year, $60.8 million contract extension, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Sutton's deal reportedly includes $34.9 million in guarantees. Denver inked fellow starting wideout Tim Patrick to a three-year extension just three days ago, and the team now finalizes its receiving corps for the foreseeable future by locking up Sutton, who tore his ACL in 2020 but has returned to full health. Though Sutton has struggled to produce in recent weeks, with just five catches for 78 yards and zero scores in his last three appearances, the 2018 second-round pick has flashed No. 1 potential and big time playmaking ability in his career, including a sophomore season with over 1,000 receiving yards. After a Week 11 bye, Sutton will get a chance to bounce back with a matchup against the Chargers.
Nov 15, 2021
Continues to disappoint
Sutton secured two of three targets for 29 yards in Sunday's 30-13 loss to the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
Sutton struggled to get anything going against Philadelphia, and the wideout ended the contest with just under a nine percent target share in the Broncos' passing game. Fellow wide receivers Jerry Jeudy and Tim Patrick saw more targets than Sutton, but neither did much with their extra opportunities. Since Jeudy rejoined the lineup, Sutton has been an underwhelming player for fantasy and has seemingly taken a backseat to the other options in the Broncos' offense. Teddy Bridgewater's play in 2021 doesn't appear to be strong enough to support multiple pass catchers for fantasy, so it is possible that the veteran will continue to struggle to achieve consistent production. The 26-year-old will look to bounce back following the team's Week 11 bye.
Nov 9, 2021
Catches one pass in win
Sutton caught one of two targets for nine yards in Sunday's 30-16 win over Dallas.
ANALYSIS
On a day when the Broncos offense had surprising success against the Cowboys, Sutton was unable to get anything going. The wideout's two targets were the second-lowest of any Broncos pass catcher. On the other hand, teammate Jerry Jeudy saw a team-high eight targets in the contest. One would expect the target share to even out as the season progresses, but Jeudy's return means that Sutton may have games where he is less involved than fantasy managers would hope for. The 26-year-old will look to bounce back when the Broncos host the Eagles in Week 10.
Oct 31, 2021
Only two catches in Sunday's win
Sutton caught two of four targets for 40 yards in Sunday's 17-10 win over Washington.
ANALYSIS
The Broncos had what seemed to be a great matchup for their passing game against a vulnerable Washington secondary, but Sutton -- or any other Denver receiver -- wasn't able to take advantage. It's the third time this season the fourth-year wideout's been held to 40 yards or less, but Sutton may need to be a lot more productive in a Week 9 clash with the Cowboys.
Oct 21, 2021
Five grabs in Week 7 loss
Sutton secured all five targets for 68 yards in the Broncos' 17-14 loss to the Browns on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
The star wideout tied with Noah Fant for second on the team in receptions, and his yardage total, fueled by a team-high 31-yard grab, easily paced either club on the night. Sutton did see a notable drop from the 14 targets he'd logged Week 6 against the Raiders, but it wasn't unexpected on a night when Teddy Bridgewater only put up 33 attempts and targeted nine different players. Sutton will look to bounce back with a bump in his overall numbers against the vulnerable Washington secondary in a Week 8 home matchup a week from Sunday.
Oct 17, 2021
Draws 14 targets
Sutton caught eight receptions for 94 yards and one touchdown on 14 targets against Las Vegas on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
It wasn't the most efficient effort for Sutton (57.1 percent catch rate, 6.7 yards per target), but the fact that Teddy Bridgewater looked Sutton's way on 28.6 percent of Denver's pass attempts is a testament to his workhorse-level talent at receiver. Other than a three-target game in Week 1, Sutton has drawn heavy usage in 2021, and now he heads into his seventh game with 471 yards and two touchdowns to his credit. Sutton been impressive in his return from his 2020 knee injury, to the point that the imminent return of Jerry Jeudy (ankle) might not harm Sutton's bottom line too much. The Broncos head to Cleveland for Week 7.
Oct 10, 2021
Suits up Sunday
Sutton (ankle) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Sutton suffered a sprained ankle during practice Friday, but he'll give it a go Sunday, which is a big boost for a Denver pass-catching corps that is minus WRs Jerry Jeudy (ankle) and KJ Hamler (knee) along with TE Albert Okwuegbunam (hamstring), who are all on IR. As long as his ankle holds up, Sutton and Tim Patrick should head the team's wideout corps in Week 5, with tight end Noah Fant also slated to be a key target for QB Teddy Bridgewater.
Oct 9, 2021
Sunday status TBD
Sutton suffered a sprained ankle during practice Friday that Mike Klis of 9News Denver describes as not overly serious.
ANALYSIS
Sutton's ankle issue did, however, result in him being added to Denver's Week 5 injury report Friday and he approaches Sunday's game against the Steelers listed as questionable. With that in mind, Klis notes that Sutton will make the trip to Pittsburgh with his teammates, but his game status will hinge on how he feels Sunday morning. Fortunately for those considering the Broncos' top wideout in fantasy lineups, the team kicks off at 1:00 ET this week.
Oct 8, 2021
Added to injury report Friday
Sutton rolled his ankle in practice Friday and will be listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Steelers, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.
ANALYSIS
We'll track Sutton's status as Sunday's 1:00 ET kickoff approaches, but if he's unable to suit up this weekend, Tim Patrick would profile as Denver's top wideout in Week 5, with Jerry Jeudy (ankle) and KJ Hamler (knee) both on IR. Also in the team's wideout mix are Kendall Hinton, David Moore and Diontae Spencer (chest/questionable).
Oct 4, 2021
Quiet in loss
Sutton caught three of eight targets for 47 yards in Sunday's 23-7 loss to the Ravens.
ANALYSIS
It was a rough day in the office for Sutton and the Broncos, as the team struggled to get much going on offense throughout the contest. The wideout's eight targets were the second highest of any Denver pass catcher. Despite the lackluster fantasy day, Sutton remains the focal point of a passing attack that has been depleted by injuries so far in 2021. The 6-foot-4, 216-pounder will look to get back on track in Week 5 when the Broncos visit the Steelers, a game which may feature Drew Lock at quarterback after starter Teddy Bridgewater was forced from Sunday's loss with a concussion.
Sep 27, 2021
Limited in blowout win
Sutton recorded five receptions on five targets for 37 yards in Sunday's Week 3 win over the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Sutton couldn't follow up his impressive Week 2 performance, though that was largely because of game script. Teddy Bridgewater attempted only 25 passes as the Broncos led comfortably for much of the game. Sutton did the majority of his work in short areas of the field, as his longest catch of the day went for 14 yards and was his only reception that went for 10 or more yards. Despite the down performance, Sutton continues to play a major role in the offense, and he could see more opportunity in a Week 4 matchup against Tennessee.
Sep 23, 2021
Full practice on tap
Sutton (hip) is set to practice fully Thursday, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The wideout's reps were limited Wednesday after he apparently picked up the hip injury coming out of last week's win over Jacksonville, but the return to full practice should clear the way for Sutton to suit up Sunday against the Jets. With Jerry Jeudy (ankle) ruled out ahead of Week 2 before being moved to injured reserve, Sutton operated as the clear top target in the Denver passing game in the win over Jacksonville, logging nine receptions for 159 yards on 12 targets.
Sep 22, 2021
Limited with hip injury
Sutton (hip) was a limited practice participant Wednesday, Ryan O'Halloran of The Denver Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Sutton is coming off a monster game one week after fellow Broncos wideout Jerry Jeudy suffered a high ankle sprain. The 6-4 wideout caught nine of 12 targets for 159 yards last week, seeing a league-high 249 air yards in Denver's blowout of the Jaguars. While he may have gotten banged up in the process, Sutton's participation Wednesday -- even on a limited basis -- suggests he's on track to play Week 3 against the Jets.
Sep 19, 2021
Explodes for 159 yards
Sutton recorded nine receptions on 12 targets for 159 yards in Sunday's Week 2 win over Jacksonville.
ANALYSIS
Sutton was the clear leader among the Broncos' receiving corps, commanding a target on 12 of the team's 34 pass attempts. He delivered an explosive performance, highlighted by gains off 55, 33 and 16 yards. The only thing missing was a trip to the end zone. After limited production in Week 1, Sutton recorded his first 100-yard receiving game since Week 10 of the 2019 season.
Sep 12, 2021
Quiet in opening week
Sutton recorded one reception on three targets for 14 yards in Sunday's Week 1 win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Sutton was on the field for a regular-season contest for the first time since Week 2 of the 2020 season. Perhaps understandably, he wasn't as involved as could typically be projected and managed his only reception partway through the second quarter. The Broncos should be in a positive game script for much of their Week 2 matchup against Jacksonville, so volume may not be on Sutton's side once again even in the absence of Jerry Jeudy (ankle).

Showing strong progress
Coach Vic Fangio relayed that Sutton has taken a step forward in recent weeks regarding the rehab of the torn ACL he suffered early in the 2020 season, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Sutton's first game action in nearly a year came against the Rams in Denver's preseason finale. In that game, the wideout totaled 27 yards and a touchdown, while also proving himself as a favorite target of Teddy Bridgewater. Since that contest, Fangio said, "I think the last two weeks, he's really turned the corner and he's looking more like himself." If Sutton is at full strength and not showing hesitation following his injury, the fourth-year wide receiver will likely be one of favorites to lead the team in targets this season along with Jerry Jeudy. The 6-foot-4, 216-pounder has both the size and speed that make him very tough for opposing defenders to cover. Sutton may have convinced the coaching staff that he is ready to start the season strong, and he will look to prove that on the field when the Broncos visit the Giants in Week 1.

Returns to field
Sutton logged two receptions on three targets for 27 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's preseason game against the Los Angeles Rams.
ANALYSIS
Though Sutton progressed from individual to team drills early in training camp, this served as his first return to game action since Week 2 of the 2020 season. He quickly established himself as one of Teddy Bridgewater's favorite targets, as he recorded receptions of 19 and eight yards -- the latter of which went for a touchdown. The results of the contest were certainly encouraging, but most importantly it appears that Sutton will be ready to go for Week 1 of the regular season against the Giants thanks to his work in the final preseason contest. Sutton may be on a snap count early in the campaign, though there has been no formal decision in that regard.

Ready for Saturday's game
Sutton (knee) remains on track to play in Saturday's preseason game against the Rams, James Palmer of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Sutton said it's the last step in his lengthy rehab process coming back from the ACL tear he suffered last September. He's been participating in team drills at training camp since late July, putting him on track for Week 1 all along. The biggest question at this point is whether Sutton or Jerry Jeudy will be QB Teddy Bridgewater's favorite target.
Aug 22, 2021
On track to play in preseason finale
Coach Vic Fangio relayed that Sutton (knee) is slated to play in Denver's preseason finale this coming Saturday against the Rams, Ryan O'Halloran of the Denver Post reports.
ANALYSIS
With the 25-year-old bouncing back from an ACL tear that limited him to one game on 2020, we suspect that Sutton's anticipated lone preseason appearance won't be extensive. As Week 1 approaches, the 2018 second-rounder already locked into a starting wideout job along with Jerry Jeudy, with the duo profiling as the favorites to lead the Broncos in targets this year, regardless who starts at QB for the team.
Aug 21, 2021
Likely sitting Saturday
Sutton (knee) is likely to sit out Saturday's preseason game against Seattle, 9News' Mike Klis reports.
ANALYSIS
Sutton previously declared that he would play in one of Denver's two remaining preseason games, so he evidently plans to suit up for the third preseason game. According to Klis, the Broncos would prefer to play Sutton on a grass field rather than Seattle's turf. The Broncos play at home against the Rams in their preseason finale, so Sutton might test out his knee in that setting.
Aug 19, 2021
Will play this week or next
Sutton (knee) said he will play in one of the Broncos' remaining two preseason games, Nick Kosmider of The Athletic reports. "We're still taking about it," Sutton said Thursday. "Figuring which one we want to do, but definitely going to play in one of them."
ANALYSIS
Either way, Sutton is on track for Week 1 against the Giants. His one preseason appearance figures to be brief, with the 25-year-old coming back from an ACL tear and already locked in for a starting job. Sutton and Jerry Jeudy are the favorites to lead Denver in targets this year, but the team has plenty of other mouths to feed, including TE Noah Fant, WRs KJ Hamler and Tim Patrick and RBs Melvin Gordon and Javonte Williams. The offensive line also looks solid, while Drew Lock and Teddy Bridgewater are said to be neck and neck for the starting assignment at quarterback.
Aug 17, 2021
Could play this week
Coach Vic Fangio said that it's possible Sutton (knee) could play in Saturday's preseason game against the Seahawks, Troy Renck of Denver 7 News reports.
ANALYSIS
It remains to be seen if that happens, but either way Sutton continues to progress, with the report adding that Fangio is looking for the wideout -- who's bouncing back from an ACL tear that limited him to one game in 2020 -- to take big step forward in next few weeks. With that in mind, Sutton appears to be on track to be a go for Week 1 action against the Giants.
Aug 8, 2021
Returning to form
As training camp progresses, Sutton (knee) "appears to be regaining his Pro Bowl form of two seasons ago," according to Kyle Newman of The Denver Post.
ANALYSIS
Sutton is returning from an ACL tear that limited him to one game in 2020. While the 2018 second-rounder's reps have been managed by the team as he works his way back, offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur notes that Sutton has made "steady progress, and now you're seeing him make plays." It remains to be seen if/when Sutton, who logged 1,112 yards on 72 catches with six TDs in 2019, will see any preseason game action, as is hoped, but once he's fully up to speed, the 25-year old is in line to lead a talented 1-2 punch at wideout in Denver along with Jerry Jeudy, while KJ Hamler and Tim Patrick compete for the No. 3 slot on the team's WR depth chart.
Jul 28, 2021
Participates in 7-on-7s
Sutton (knee) participated in team drills Wednesday, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
It's a tangible step forward after he was limited to individual drills during the offseason program. Sutton already revealed that he's scheduled to play in one of Denver's three preseason games, though he did mention Wednesday that he'll have a brace over his surgically repaired knee when the Broncos start contact work at training camp, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com. Wednesday's practice was the first of camp, with players going through 7-on-7s in shorts and helmets. It is possible Sutton is limited or absent when contact work begins, given that he's coming back from an ACL tear.
Jul 27, 2021
On track for preseason appearance
Sutton (knee) said Tuesday that he feels "close to 100 percent" and is scheduled to play in one of Denver's three preseason games, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Sutton says he wants to play in all three games, while the Broncos plan to limit him to one (presumably brief) appearance. He was a partial participant in spring practices and may now be limited to kick off training camp, but the 25-year-old wideout seems confident he'll bounce back from his ACL tear in time to play in an August exhibition. Sutton enters his fourth NFL season as the relative veteran among a talented group of young pass catchers, joined by WRs Jerry Jeudy, KJ Hamler and Tim Patrick as well as TE Noah Fant. Meanwhile, Drew Lock and Teddy Bridgewater will compete for the starting QB job.
Jul 21, 2021
Could be eased into camp
Sutton (knee) was limited to individual drills in spring practices and may have his workload managed at the start of training camp, Ryan O'Halloran of The Denver Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Sutton said in May that he was on track for training camp, and Broncos coach Vic Fangio backed that up in mid-June when he said the wideout wasn't likely to be placed on the PUP list. Coming back from ACL and MCL tears suffered in Week 2 last year, Sutton will be about 11 months removed from surgery when the Broncos kick-off their season Sept. 12 at the Giants. The 25-year-old is in the fourth and final season of his rookie contract, playing in a Denver offense that looks solid at every position besides quarterback. Barring a late trade acquisition, the Broncos will have Drew Lock and Teddy Bridgewater competing for the starting QB job this August.
Jun 15, 2021
Should avoid preseason PUP list
Coach Vic Fango indicated Tuesday that he doesn't anticipate Sutton beginning training camp on the PUP list, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Sutton sustained ACL and MCL tears last September but was already running routes in early March and stated in mid-May that he was hoping to be ready for training camp. It certainly sounds like he's on a path to make that a reality, though it will still be worth monitoring his status when training camp fires up next month. He and Jerry Jeudy figure to give the Broncos a dangerous 1-2 punch at wide receiver as Sutton looks to return to his 2019 level of production, when he posted 72 catches for 1,112 yards and six touchdowns on 125 targets.
May 17, 2021
Expects to be ready for camp
Sutton (knee) said Monday that "the game plan" is to be ready for training camp, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Sutton, who missed all but one contest last season after tearing his left ACL and MCL, said he feels "really good" at this stage of his recovery, per Stevens. Entering the fourth and final season of his rookie contract, Sutton appears set to serve as one of Denver's clear top targets alongside 2020 first-round pick Jerry Jeudy. The likes of Noah Fant, KJ Hamler, Tim Patrick and Albert Okwuegbunam (knee) will also all demand targets, as will tailbacks Melvin Gordon and Javonte Williams, but Sutton is talented enough that his position atop the pecking order won't be challenged, as long as he's healthy. It may be fair to question whether Drew Lock or Teddy Bridgewater are capable of providing enough volume to feed such a crowded receiving corps, however.
Mar 5, 2021
Already running routes
Sutton (knee) has already resumed running routes while rehabbing from a torn ACL, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Sutton continues to inspire confidence in his recovery process. He initially suffered ACL and MCL tears in his left knee Sept. 20 before undergoing surgery in October. As long as the 25-year-old is able to continue avoiding any setbacks he should be cleared for practice by the time training camp rolls around, and it's possible that he could get limited work in during the offseason program. Sutton will join the most crowded receiving corps of his career as he enters the fourth and final season of his rookie deal, with Jerry Jeudy, Noah Fant, Tim Patrick (ankle) and KJ Hamler (concussion) all vying for targets. If the Broncos end up upgrading from Drew Lock, as it's been rumored the team wishes to do, Sutton could also have to adjust to a new situation under center.
Feb 1, 2021
On track in rehab process
Sutton's rehab from ACL surgery is on track, with the wideout hoping to be ready for the beginning of next season, Ryan O'Halloran of The Denver Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Sutton injured his knee Sept. 20, had surgery about a month later, and has been been jogging as part of his rehab routine since Jan. 14. He mentioned the possibility of some limited participation in the offseason program, though he may not be cleared to practice until training camp. Entering the fourth and final season of his rookie contract, Sutton may need to adjust to a new quarterback, as the Broncos are rumored to be seeking an upgrade on Drew Lock.
Jan 14, 2021
Showing progress
Sutton (knee) showed himself jogging via his official Twitter account.
ANALYSIS
There was a ton of hope that Sutton could push himself into a borderline top ten receiver in the league for his junior season. It didn't work out that way as he missed the opener against Tennessee with a shoulder injury and went down with an ACL tear in Week 2, just three catches in to the season. 2021 will be enormous for Sutton. Not only will it be a contract year for the SMU product, but how he helps lead a very young offense could determine the path of the franchise and which players (and coaches) will be around in 2022. Showing signs of recovery just four months after going down in Pittsburg is a step in the right direction.
Sep 21, 2020
Going on injured reserve
The Broncos placed Sutton (knee) on injured reserve Monday, Ryan O'Halloran of The Denver Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Such a move was expected after Sutton sustained ACL and MCL tears in his left knee during Sunday's loss to the Steelers. The loss was a double whammy to the Broncos offense after Drew Lock picked up a rotator/labral issue in his right shoulder in the same game. With the QB out for at least the next two games, Denver will turn to Jeff Driskel under center, and all of Jerry Jeudy, Tim Patrick, KJ Hamler, DaeSean Hamilton, Diontae Spencer and Tyrie Cleveland (hip) to cover for Sutton. After entering the campaign with so much promise, Sutton concludes his third year as a pro with just one appearance, three catches and 66 yards on his ledger.
Sep 21, 2020
Done for the year with ACL tear
Sutton suffered a torn ACL and MCL during Sunday's loss to the Steelers and will miss the rest of the 2020 season, Brandon Krisztal KOA NewsRadio 850 AM & 94.1 FM reports.
ANALYSIS
Sutton's season-end injury is devastating news for Denver's offense, and the development is further exacerbated by the expectation that Drew Lock (shoulder) will miss two to six weeks, per Mike Klis of 9News Denver. The third-year wideout missed Week 1 due to a shoulder injury, so his 2020 campaign will come to a premature end after just three catches for 66 yards in a single game. Sutton was hugely impressive in 2019 and will no doubt remain an integral part of the Broncos' offensive plans for the future, but for the rest of the season rookie Jerry Jeudy will get a chance to show what he can do as the team's No. 1 wideout. Tim Patrick DaeSean Hamilton stand to handle starting roles in three-receiver sets.
Sep 21, 2020
Serious injury feared
The Broncos fear that Sutton suffered a significant knee injury during Sunday's loss to the Steelers, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Sutton will undergo an MRI to confirm the severity of his injury Monday, though Rapoport notes that the possibility of missing the entire season is currently in play. The third-year pro had also been dealing with a shoulder issue prior to injuring his knee Sunday. With Drew Lock (shoulder) also set for an MRI on his sprained AC joint, the Broncos could be forced to proceed with a deeply depleted aerial attack against the Buccaneers in Week 3.
Sep 20, 2020
Going for MRI on Monday
Sutton (knee) is scheduled to go for an MRI on Monday and there is concern that his injury could be significant, Mike Klis of 9News reports.
ANALYSIS
Sutton exited Sunday's game against the Steelers after hurting his knee, and the results of Monday's MRI should shed light on a possible timetable for the return of Denver's No. 1 wide receiver. Quarterback Drew Lock will also be going in for an MRI on his sprained AC joint, though there's already a preliminary timeline of 2-6 weeks for the latter's absence.
Sep 20, 2020
Won't return to Sunday's contest
Sutton (knee/leg cramping) won't return to Sunday's game against the Steelers, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Prior to his exit from Sunday's game, Sutton -- who had been dealing with a shoulder issue -- caught three of his six targets for 66 yards. The Broncos will finish the day with a wideout corps comprised of Jerry Jeudy, KJ Hamler, Tim Patrick and DaeSean Hamilton.
Sep 20, 2020
Listed as active Sunday
Sutton (shoulder) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Steelers, Ryan O'Halloran of The Denver Post reports.
ANALYSIS
A sprained AC joint in his shoulder kept Sutton on the sideline in Week 1 against the Titans, but he's progressed to the point that he'll give it a go Sunday. It remains to be seen if the Broncos intend to hand their top wideout his normal allotment of snaps in his 2020 season debut, but assuming no in-game setbacks, Sutton - who logged a 72/1,112/6 stat line last year - will look to continue to build his on-field chemistry with second-year QB Drew Lock, while maintaining his status as a frequently-targeted option in Denver's passing game.
Sep 20, 2020
In line to suit up
Sutton (shoulder) is slated to suit up Sunday against the Steelers, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports.
ANALYSIS
Sutton's Week 2 status will be officially confirmed upon the release of the team's inactives in advance of Sunday's 1:00 ET kickoff, but Denver's top wideout is now poised to make his 2020 season debut.
Sep 20, 2020
Good chance to play in Week 2
Sutton (shoulder) has "a good chance to play" Sunday against the Steelers, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, but the Broncos still plan to evaluate the wideout before the contest to make sure his AC joint has healed enough to do so.
ANALYSIS
Fortunately for those considering Sutton in Week 2 lineups, the Broncos kick off at 1:00 ET on Sunday. Denver's top wideout sat out this past Monday's game against the Titans, leaving Jerry Jeudy (eight targets), Tim Patrick (five targets) and DaeSean Hamilton (three targets) to head the team's wide receiver corps in Week 1.
Sep 18, 2020
Set to be game-time call
Sutton (shoulder) is expected to be a game-time decision Sunday against the Steelers, coach Vic Fangio said Friday on KOA NewsRadio.
ANALYSIS
The wideout was a limited participant at practice Wednesday and Thursday, and it appears he'll finish the week working in the same capacity. Sutton sat out the season opener after suffering an AC joint sprain in his right shoulder last week, but he may be able to return for Week 2. The 24-year-old is likely to be considered questionable when Friday's official injury report is posted later in the day.
Sep 17, 2020
Another limited practice
Sutton (shoulder) was a limited practice participant Thursday, Ryan O'Halloran of The Denver Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Sutton's reps were also capped Wednesday, as the wideout continues to work back from the sprained right shoulder that sidelined him for the Broncos' season-opening loss to the Titans. Prior to Thursday's session, coach Vic Fangio said that Sutton checked out fine in Wednesday's practice, but the wideout is still being viewed as questionable for Sunday's game in Pittsburgh, according to Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site. Sutton will likely carry an injury designation into the weekend.
Sep 16, 2020
Set for limited practice
Coach Vic Fangio said Wednesday that Sutton (shoulder) will be a limited participant in Wednesday's practice, Troy Renck of Denver 7 News reports.
ANALYSIS
Sutton's limited Wednesday session marks his first return to the practice field since suffering a sprained AC joint in his shoulder last Thursday. The start wideout wasn't able to suit up Week 1, but the fact that his status came down to a game-time decision bodes well for his chances of returning against Pittsburgh on Sunday.
Sep 15, 2020
May not practice Wednesday
Broncos head coach Vic Fangio said Tuesday that he hopes Sutton (shoulder) can do more work in practice by the end of the week, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports.
ANALYSIS
While Fangio didn't specify what exactly Sutton's practice activity will look like while he tends to an AC joint sprain his right shoulder, the coach's comments suggest the receiver likely won't be in line for anything more than limited participation in the team's first session of the week Wednesday. Sanders sat out the Broncos' 16-14 loss to the Titans on Monday, which left Jerry Jeudy, Tim Patrick and DaeSean Hamilton as the team's starting receivers. Jeudy emerged as quarterback Drew Lock's top target while Sanders was inactive, posting four receptions for 56 yards on eight looks.
Sep 14, 2020
Taking seat Monday
Sutton (shoulder) is listed as inactive Monday against the Titans, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
After making a catch at Thursday's practice, Sutton stayed on the ground for a bit and went to the locker room shortly thereafter. An MRI revealed an AC joint sprain in his right shoulder, which didn't allow him to practice Friday or Saturday and left Sutton a game-time decision for Week 1. Earlier Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported Sutton wasn't expected to play, but Adam Schefter of ESPN later noted he made attempts to suit up and is "really close." Alas, Sutton and KJ Hamler (hamstring) won't be out there for the Broncos' opener, meaning Drew Lock's options at wide receiver will be rookie first-rounder Jerry Jeudy, Tim Patrick, DaeSean Hamilton and Diontae Spencer and Tyrie Cleveland.
Sep 14, 2020
Unlikely to face Titans
Sutton (shoulder) is not expected to suit up for Monday's game against Tennessee, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Sutton is nursing a sprained AC joint in his shoulder sustained during practice last week, and it looks as though he'll need more time to recover before retaking the field. Rapoport notes that Sutton would suit up Monday were the Broncos in a must-win scenario, a hint that he shouldn't remain sidelined for too long. If the Broncos' top wideout is indeed forced to sit out versus Tennessee, expanded targets will be made available for rookie first-round pick Jerry Jeudy, in addition to Tim Patrick and DaeSean Hamilton. The official word on Sutton's availability will likely come down to a game-time decision.
Sep 12, 2020
Game-time decision Monday
Sutton (shoulder) is "truly questionable" according to coach Vic Fangio, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports.
ANALYSIS
Sutton did some light work on the sidelines during Saturday's practice, but he wasn't wearing a helmet during the portion open to the media. It seems as if Sutton's status could completely depend on the mobility of his sprained shoulder following Monday's walk through. It's worth noting, Fangio did suggest rookie KJ Hamler was "closer to the doubtful side of questionable" so there's at least some separation of availability within the injury designation that could give fantasy managers some hope in regards to Sutton. If the star wide receiver is ruled out ahead of Monday's contest, expect the Broncos to rely heavily on the likes of Jerry Jeudy, Tim Patrick and DaeSean Hamilton.
Sep 11, 2020
Won't practice Friday
Coach Vic Fangio relayed that Sutton (shoulder) won't practice Friday, but noted the wideout is expected to return to a limited session Saturday, Jeff Legwold of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
As Monday night's season opener against the Titans approaches, Sutton is considered day-to-day with a sprained AC joint in his shoulder. If Denver's top wideout is out or limited at all in Week 1, added targets would be available for rookie starter Jerry Jeudy, as well as returnees Tim Patrick and DaeSean Hamilton.
Sep 10, 2020
Sprained AC joint in shoulder
Sutton is considered day-to-day with a sprained AC joint in his shoulder, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports.
ANALYSIS
As Klis points out, it could have been worse, but now the Broncos' top wideout has to be considered questionable for Monday night's season opener against the Titans. If Sutton is out or limited at all in Week 1, added targets would be available for rookie starter Jerry Jeudy, along with Tim Patrick and DaeSean Hamilton.
Sep 10, 2020
MRI on shoulder scheduled
Sutton will undergo an MRI on the shoulder he injured during Thursday's practice, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Sutton was unable to finish Thursday's session after hurting himself while making a catch. The wideout's status must now be carefully monitored as Monday night's game against the Titans approaches. If Sutton is limited or out in Week 1, added looks would be available for rookie starter Jerry Jeudy, as well as Tim Patrick and DaeSean Hamilton.
Sep 10, 2020
Exits practice early
Sutton (undisclosed) was forced out of practice early Thursday, Troy Renck of Denver 7 News reports.
ANALYSIS
Per the report, the Broncos' top wideout "stayed down for moment" after making a catch in practice. He then "shook his right shoulder a little bit" before heading to the locker room with a trainer. Look for an update on Sutton's status no later than when the team's Thursday injury report is posted.
Aug 28, 2020
Poised to reprise key role
Nick Kosmider of The Athletic calls Sutton the "best player on the Broncos offense right now."
ANALYSIS
Kosmider mentions this in the context of the attention being paid to promising first-rounder Jerry Jeudy, whose presence should help open things up for Sutton, who was targeted an average of 9.3 times over the course of his final three games in 2019. With an offseason that won't include any preseason action, Sutton's pre-existing chemistry with Drew Lock "figures to be something (the second-year signal-caller) will lean on heavily at the start of the season." Sutton logged a 72/1,112/6 stat line last year, numbers he appears poised to match or exceed, with improved an improved team context (in terms of QB play and added offensive weapons) in mind.

Acquires supporting cast in draft
The Broncos doubled-up on wide receiver during the first two rounds of the draft, adding Jerry Jeudy of Alabama and KJ Hamler of Penn State to complement Sutton, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports.
ANALYSIS
Sutton took a huge step in Year 2, flashing the ability to outmuscle defenders for the deep ball and make contested catch-and-runs like a true WR1. He struggled a bit, however, following the trade of Emmanuel Sanders, which enabled defenses to double- and triple-team him regularly with no established options opposite him. Though his targets per game were nearly identical before and after the Sanders trade, Sutton averaged 80.6 yards on 5.1 catches per game with Sanders on the roster as compared to 62.7 yards on 4.0 catches per game without him. Catching passes from two quarterbacks making their professional debuts certainly didn't help, but Sutton came into this offseason needing reinforcements in the receiving corps. Early draft picks at a player's own position typically spells doom, but Jeudy's technical prowess and Hamler's sub-4.3-40 speed will more likely help Sutton, freeing him up for one-on-ones which he has shown the ability to dominate.

Snags four passes in win
Sutton caught four of eight targets for 52 yards during Sunday's 16-15 win over the Raiders. He temporarily left the game with a head injury, but returned, Brandon Krisztal of KOA Colorado reports.
ANALYSIS
The Broncos weren't doing much at all on offense early on when Sutton skied for a big 19-yard reception between two defenders early in the second quarter, kick-starting a field-goal drive. Sutton ended 2019 with 72 catches for 1,112 yards and six touchdowns. His full value is not reflected in the numbers as he drew 13 defensive penalties this season, second-best in the league, but he slowed down the stretch as teams endeavored to take him away with Denver lacking other established weapons. He was held under 55 yards in four of his last six games and only topped 100 yards twice during the season. Expect him to make strides in 2020 with more of a rapport built with Drew Lock and a stronger WR2 high on Denver's shopping list.
Nov 27, 2019
Not on injury report
Sutton (ankle) doesn't appear on the Broncos' Week 13 injury report, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Sutton tweaked his ankle during this past Sunday's 20-3 loss to the Bills, a game in which he caught just one pass (on eight targets) for a season-low 27 yards. The issue was downplayed afterward and his absence from Wednesday's injury report ensures that Sutton will be available Sunday against the Chargers. The Broncos' undisputed top pass catcher will look to prove that his Week 12 dud was an outlier, a reasonable exception regardless of who serves as the Broncos' QB this weekend.
Nov 25, 2019
Tweaks ankle Sunday
Coach Vic Fangio said Sutton tweaked his ankle during Sunday's 20-3 loss at Buffalo, but the wide receiver is "fine," Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Fangio's terminology indicates Sutton aggravated a previous injury, which may be the lower-body issue that limited his reps at one Week 6 practice. As such, Sutton's activity level bears watching as he and the Broncos prepare for Sunday's divisional matchup with the Chargers.
Oct 13, 2019
Delivers in the clutch
Sutton caught four of eight targets for 76 yards during Sunday's 16-0 win over Tennessee, a game in which fellow top target Emmanuel Sanders left at halftime with a knee injury.
ANALYSIS
Sunday wasn't a banner day for Denver's offense, but Sutton came up twice in the clutch, first in the second quarter with a 41-yard reception down the sideline to move the Broncos from deep in their territory to within range for what was the team's second field goal of the day. He stepped up again during Denver's last full drive in the fourth quarter, converting a third down with an 18-yard catch over the middle to set up another Denver field goal. Sutton has been Denver's most dynamic target this season with at least 75 yards in four of six games and an impressive 15.9 yards per catch. If Sanders is out Thursday against Kansas City, Sutton will need to carry the load.
Sep 20, 2019
Cleared to play Sunday
Sutton (ribs) does not carry an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Packers, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Zac Stevens of BSNDenver.com notes that coach Vic Fangio confirmed Friday that Sutton is "fine" despite missing Thursday's practice with sore ribs. "He just had a little bit of discomfort yesterday after getting one of his weekly lifts in. We were cautious with it and luckily he's fine." Two games into the 2019 season, Sutton has hauled in 11 of his 15 targets for 160 yards, while starting opposite Emmanuel Sanders. Looking ahead, as long as he stays healthy, Sutton should continue to see decent volume in Denver's Joe Flacco-helmed passing attack.
