Brown secured five of seven targets for 57 yards and a touchdown during Jacksonville's 31-27 loss to the Bengals on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Brown finished second on the team in terms of receiving yards behind Parker Washington (5-76-0 on five targets), outproducing both Brian Thomas (4-49-0 on 12 targets) and Travis Hunter (3-22-0 on six targets). While both Thomas and Hunter should be locks to pace Brown in receiving production on a weekly basis going forward, he has now racked up over 50 yards in back-to-back weeks to open the regular season. As the No. 3 receiver in Jacksonville, Brown appears a fair fantasy option for teams in need of a fill-in due to injuries or bye weeks. He'll look to keep up his consistency Week 3 against the Texans.

Solid showing in Jags debut
Brown caught three of four targets for 52 yards and rushed twice for six yards during Sunday's 26-10 win over the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
The 25-year-old worked as Jacksonville No. 3 wideout behind Travis Hunter and Brian Thomas and tied for third on the team in targets and receptions while finishing second in receiving yards. Brown joined the Jaguars on a one-year, $10 million deal in March after breaking out in the 2024 playoffs for the Commanders, and he should have a decent chance at a career year in 2025 after posting career highs with 30 receptions for 308 yards last season. That doesn't necessarily mean he'll have much fantasy relevance while operating as Jacksonville's No. 3 wide receiver, however.

Jaguars coach Liam Coen said Brown missed Sunday's preseason game at New Orleans because of stiffness in his lower body. With Travis Hunter (upper body) also banged up, the Jags turned to Parker Washington and Austin Trammell for first-team WR snaps alongside Brian Thomas. Brown's workload in the regular season will partially depend on how much the Jags want to use Hunter, and, to a lesser extent, Washington.

Per Shipley, Brown made a pair of explosive plays during Tuesday's session and then kept up his momentum Thursday, while "having the best day of any of the wide receivers and showing good chemistry" with starting QB Trevor Lawrence. As the coming campaign approaches, Brown is slated to play a key role in a wideout corps that is led by ascending second-year pro Brian Thomas and also includes WR/CB Travis Hunter, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Beyond that high-profile 1-2 punch, Brown is projected to work as the team's No. 3 option at wide receiver, a context that could land him on the fantasy radar in deeper formats, in particular if Hunter is eased into the offense to any degree as a rookie.

Headed to Jacksonville
Brown and the Jaguars reached agreement Monday on a one-year, $10 million contract, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
It's a large contract relative to Brown's production -- at least if the initial figures prove semi-accurate -- but it perhaps shouldn't be a total surprise in light of his performance during the 2024 playoffs. After averaging 0.9 catches for 12.4 yards in 63 career regular-season games, Brown exploded for a 14-229-1 receiving line on 18 targets during Washington's three-game playoff run. He's a 2021 third-round pick with 4.46 speed and only 25 years old, so there's reason to think Brown can help the Jacksonville offense even though he's unlikely to draw a lot of targets. The Jaguars recently released WR Christian Kirk and TE Evan Engram, leaving WRs Brian Thomas, Gabe Davis (knee) and Parker Washington and TE Brenton Strange as the top returning pass catchers from last season.

Brown was involved in all aspects of the Commanders' offense Sunday, even adding a passing attempt that missed the mark. The fourth-year wide receiver played 25 of the Commanders' 58 offensive snaps in the contest, well behind fellow wideouts Terry McLaurin (53) and Olamide Zaccheaus (40). In 16 games this season, Brown recorded 30 receptions on 40 targets for 308 yards and a touchdown, adding three carries for 26 yards. The 27-year-old is set to hit the market as an unrestricted free agent this offseason, so it remains to be seen if he'll return to Washington in 2025.

Neither did Olamide Zaccheaus, who seems to be Brown's primary competition for the No. 2 receiver spot after Jahan Dotson was traded to the Eagles last week. Dotson mostly worked the slot during Washington's first two preseason games while Zaccheaus and Brown split perimeter snaps with the first-team offense. One possibility is moving Zaccheaus to the slot and keeping Brown on the perimeter, although that wouldn't necessarily give Brown all the playing time in two-wide sets. Jamison Crowder and rookie third-round pick Luke McCaffrey could also enter the mix despite not getting playing time with the starting offense this preseason. Regardless of how the snaps shake out, it'll be surprising if any of the team's WRs besides Terry McLaurin see more than a handful of targets per game.

All three receptions came from QB Jayden Daniels on the opening drive, but Brown rotated with Olamide Zaccheaus while Terry McLaurin and Jahan Dotson played nearly all the first-team snaps. Coach Dan Quinn suggested all the roles are up for grabs behind McLaurin, leaving Dotson, Brown, Zaccheaus and Luke McCaffrey to compete for playing time. Brown has done well this preseason with five catches for 74 yards on six targets, but he might end up in a rotation even if he's a Week 1 starter for the first time since his 2021 rookie season.

Brown had a 42-yard gain on the third play of the game, catching a perfectly thrown deep pass from rookie QB Jayden Daniels. Brown continued playing well into the second quarter and caught a 13-yard pass from third-string QB Jeff Driskel on an afternoon when Terry McLaurin was the only Washington wideout to be pulled from the game at the same time as Daniels. Probable No. 2 receiver Jahan Dotson also played throughout the first half, and rookie third-round pick Luke McCaffrey got each of his three targets after halftime. Brown thus seems to be in the mix for a top-three role, primarily competing with Dotson, McCaffrey and Olamide Zaccheaus for playing time behind McLaurin.

The 2021 third-round pick is in the final year of his rookie contract and hoping to impress a new coaching staff after catching only 29 passes over his first three seasons. It sounds like the new coaches have taken notice, perhaps giving Brown a chance to compete with Luke McCaffrey, Olamide Zaccheaus and others for the third and fourth spots at wide receiver. Incumbent starters Terry McLaurin and Jahan Dotson still top the depth chart and figure to take the lion's share of WR targets.

ANALYSIS
The 2021 third-round pick had a quiet year apart from his 35-yard, game-tying touchdown in the final minute of an eventual loss to the Seahawks on Nov. 12. Brown had just two catches for seven yards the rest of the season and played more snaps on special teams than offense in each of Washington's final five games. He'll need to compete for a roster spot in 2024, the final year of his rookie contract.

ANALYSIS
Brown finished fifth on the team in receiving and tied for fourth in targets, again working with Terry McLaurin and Adam Humphries as part of Washington's regular trio for three-wide sets. Curtis Samuel (groin) can return from IR as soon as Week 4, but while he eventually figures to take a lot of Brown's snaps, it isn't yet clear when Samuel will be ready. Washington does have Cam Sims as an option for perimeter snaps if Brown can't get going soon, but even if he isn't seeing many targets, the rookie's speed could be useful. He'll get a tough matchup next, traveling to Buffalo in Week 3.

Handles every-down role
Brown caught just one of four targets for a two-yard loss in Sunday's 20-16 loss to the Chargers, but he did play 93 percent of Washington's snaps on offense.
ANALYSIS
The rookie third-round pick actually tied Terry McLaurin for second on the team in targets, as QBs Ryan Fitzpatrick and Taylor Heinicke combined for only 21 pass attempts in a game where Washington emphasized Antonio Gibson but got smashed in the possession battle anyway. While the rookie didn't exactly shine in his regular-season debut, Brown did have a solid grip on the No. 2 receiver role from a playing time standpoint, with Cam Sims poaching just two snaps all afternoon. Of course, Brown could be demoted to third or fourth on the depth chart once Curtis Samuel (groin) returns from injured reserve (at some point Week 4 or later). For now, Washington will host the Giants on Thursday in Week 2, likely starting Heinicke at QB and Brown as the No. 2 wideout.

ANALYSIS
Samuel has filled a few different roles over the years, and in Washington he was expected to be the No. 2 receiver, likely taking a lot of perimeter snaps given that slot specialist Adam Humphries also is on the team. Samuel's absence could lead to more touches for Humphries and satellite back J.D. McKissic, but Brown and Sims are more likely to benefit in terms of snap count. Brown is a rookie third-round pick, while Sims is a fourth-year pro who started 10 games last season but averaged just 4.5 targets in those contests. Washington hasn't announced whether Sims or Brown will be the main replacement for Samuel at wide receiver in Sunday's opener against the Chargers.

Brown had mixed results in his second professional game. He began the contest with a drop -- albeit on a tough opportunity -- but he bounced back to record a 29-yard catch over cornerback Darius Phillips. With Curtis Samuel (groin) still sidelined, Brown had valuable reps with presumed starting quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick. Though he may start the season in a reserve role, Brown figures to have the chance to enter three-receiver sets at some point in the campaign.

Brown caught two of four targets for 16 yards in Thursday's preseason loss to New England.
ANALYSIS
The rookie third-round pick had a seven-yard gain late in the first quarter on a completion from QB Taylor Heinicke, who then missed Brown on a deep pass on the very next snap. The two later hooked up for nine yards on a 3rd-and-3 shortly before halftime, setting up Washington's first TD of the night. All in all, it was a solid first showing for Brown, especially given that none of Washington's other wide receivers had big games. He might even get some reps as the No. 2 receiver if Curtis Samuel (groin) continues to miss time.
