Posts 33 yards in victory
Engram caught four of five targets for 33 yards in the Broncos' 22-19 win over the Chiefs on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Engram has yet to hit 50 yards receiving in a game this season and is playing less than 50 percent of the offensive snaps, as Adam Trautman is coach Sean Payton's preferred blocking tight end on early downs. Through 10 games, Engram has just 32 catches for 260 yards and one touchdown on 50 targets. He's not a recommended fantasy starter at tight end down the stretch, as the Broncos head into their Week 12 bye.
Nov 7, 2025
Two catches in Thursday's win
Engram caught two of five targets for 12 yards in Thursday's 10-7 win over the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
Engram has secured only two of eight targets over the past two games. This downturn comes after a stretch of five consecutive games with at least four catches. Engram's next opportunity to get back on track will come Nov. 16 against the Chiefs.
Nov 3, 2025
Blanked by Houston
Engram failed to secure any of his three targets in Sunday's 18-15 win over the Texans.
ANALYSIS
Engram was unable to get anything going in Week 9, as he played second fiddle to fellow tight end Adam Trautman against the Texans. The 31-year-old Engram played 51 percent of Denver's offensive snaps Sunday, reaching above a 50 percent snap share for just the second time this season. Even so, it was Trautman who saw the majority of work at tight end, playing 73 percent of snaps and catching both of his targets for 25 yards. The Denver tight end position is seemingly one to avoid for fantasy purposes, as both Engram and Trautman are not reliable options for consistent production. Those hoping Engram could have a strong year in head coach Sean Payton's system may want to look for other options at the position going forward. The veteran will remain difficult to trust for meaningful fantasy production when the Broncos host the Raiders in Week 10.

Gains 42 yards Sunday
Engram had five receptions on eight targets for 42 yards in Sunday's 33-32 win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Engram duplicated his production from a week ago on two more targets against New York's other football club in Week 7. The veteran tight end has quietly generated value for those in PPR formats by averaging 4.5 receptions in four consecutive starts. Engram will provide fantasy managers with a high floor in soft matchup against the Cowboys next Sunday.
Oct 12, 2025
Leading receiver on six targets
Engram corralled five of six targets for 42 yards while adding one rushing attempt for seven yards in Sunday's 13-11 win over the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Engram led Denver in targets, receptions and yardage in an odd victory that saw No. 1 WR Courtland Sutton finish with just one reception. The 30-year-old Engram also recorded his first rushing attempt of the season, something we haven't seen consistently from the tight end since his early years as a member of the New York Giants. Sunday's solid showing overseas comes on the heels of the veteran tight end's first touchdown of the year against the Eagles last week. Managers in need of help at the tight end position should take a serious look at a heating up Engram in Week 7 when the Broncos host the aforementioned Giants next Sunday.
Oct 5, 2025
Finds end zone in Week 5 win
Engram secured four of six targets for 33 yards and a touchdown in the Broncos' 21-17 win over the Eagles on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Engram finished second in receptions and targets on an afternoon when Bo Nix spread the ball around to nine different pass catchers overall. The veteran tight end also scored his first touchdown in a Broncos uniform on an 11-yard catch just before the halfway point of the fourth quarter, and his receiving yardage total was a new season high. Engram has played a more short-area role that may have initially been expected upon his signing with Denver this offseason, but his upside keeps him a viable consideration at what can be a difficult position for reliable fantasy production.

Practicing fully
Engram (back) practiced fully Friday.
ANALYSIS
A back issue prevented Engram from practicing and playing in Week 3, but following full practices both Thursday and Friday, the tight end is poised to return to action Monday night against the Bengals. With just four catches (on six targets) for 33 yards in his first two games with the Broncos, the early returns on Engram aren't great, but assuming his back injury is no longer an issue, he's a player capable of picking up the pace, as soon as Monday. With that in mind, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com relays that Engram indicated Friday that he feels "great" ahead of Week 4 action, while, for his part, offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi told Stevens that he believes Engram will "be getting going here real soon."
Sep 25, 2025
Back at practice Thursday
Engram (back) participated in Thursday's practice, Parker Gabriel of the Denver Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Engram missed practice all last week before ultimately being ruled out for Week 3 against the Chargers. With his return to practice Thursday, Engram should be on track to play Monday night against the Bengals. Engram has massively underwhelmed to start his Broncos career, playing just 38 percent of the offensive snaps across the first two games of the season and catching only four passes for 33 yards on six targets. He's simply not a full-time player in coach Sean Payton's offense that likes to use multiple tight ends and wide receivers.
Sep 19, 2025
Ruled out this week
Engram (back) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Engram wasn't able to practice all week, and the tight end now will look to recover from his back issue in time to suit up Monday, Sept. 29 against the Bengals. In Engram's absence this weekend, Adam Trautman figures to be next in line for added Week 3 opportunities, with Nate Adkins and Lucas Krull also on hand to mix in.
Sep 18, 2025
Misses another practice
Engram (back) remained sidelined at Thursday's practice, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Engram also missed Wednesday's session, which puts the focus firmly on what -- if anything -- the tight end is able to do Friday at practice. If Engram is limited or out versus the Chargers on Sunday, Adam Trautman would be next in line for added Week 3 opportunities, with Nate Adkins and Lucas Krull also available to mix in.
Sep 17, 2025
Misses practice with back issue
Engram missed practice Wednesday due to a back injury.
ANALYSIS
Engram managed a calf issue prior to Week 2 action, but he approached this past Sunday's 29-28 loss to the Colts without an injury designation before recording 25 of a possible 58 snaps on offense. Now that he's dealing with a new injury concern, the tight end's status will now need to be monitored as this weekend's contest against the Chargers approaches. If Engram ends up limited or out, added Week 3 opportunities would be available for Adam Trautman, as well as Nate Adkins and Lucas Krull to a lesser degree.
Sep 17, 2025
Misses practice Wednesday
Broncos head coach Sean Payton said Wednesday that Engram (undisclosed) did not practice, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Payton declined to comment on the nature of Engram's injury. The veteran tight end was forced out early during Denver's win over the Titans in Week 1 due to a calf injury, but he was able to gain full clearance in time to return Week 2 against the Colts. Engram has, however, failed to play 50 percent in either of the Broncos' two games so far this season, and he's totaled just two catches for 33 yards on four targets thus far. Even if Engram manages to gain full clearance in time for Sunday's matchup against the Chargers, fantasy managers may want to search elsewhere for options at the tight end position.
Sep 15, 2025
Plays behind Trautman in Week 2
Engram secured one of two targets for 12 yards during Sunday's 29-28 loss to the Colts.
ANALYSIS
Engram returned from the calf injury he sustained Week 1 in time to suit up Week 2 against Indianapolis, though he played only 43 percent of offensive snaps and worked behind Adam Trautman (62 percent of snaps), who brought in all three of his targets for 10 yards and a score. It's possible Engram gets more involved Week 3 against the Chargers, but even before being injured Week 1 he played just one snap on the Broncos' opening drive, as Lucas Evans of the Denver Post reports, providing reason for concern that the veteran chain-mover may not be as entrenched as the team's No. 1 tight end as expected. Fantasy managers may want to wait until Engram proves he's earned a larger snap share before relying on him as a weekly option in starting lineups.
Sep 11, 2025
Turns in full practice
Engram (calf) was a full participant in Thursday's practice, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Engram sustained a calf injury in Denver's 20-12 win over the Titans on Sunday and was limited in the team's first Week 2 practice Wednesday, but the tight end's ability to take every rep Thursday clears the way for him to suit up this weekend in Indianapolis. Before leaving in the fourth quarter of the Week 1 victory, Engram finished his Broncos debut with three catches for 21 yards on four targets while playing 26 snaps on offense.
Sep 10, 2025
Listed as limited Wednesday
Engram (calf) was listed as a limited participant in Wednesday's practice, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Engram played 26 snaps in the Broncos' season-opening win over the Titans before exiting the contest with a calf injury. While the tight end's official 'limited' listing Wednesday is encouraging, he'll presumably need to work fully by Friday in order to approach Sunday's game against the Colts without an injury designation.
Sep 7, 2025
Hurts calf in season opener
Engram (calf) is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Titans, Parker Gabriel of the Denver Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Engram injured his calf in the fourth quarter of his Broncos debut. Prior to getting hurt, the veteran tight end had three catches for 21 yards on four targets. Adam Trautman and Lucas Krull are the two remaining healthy options dressed at the position, with Nate Adkins (ankle) inactive.
Aug 23, 2025
Quiet in preseason finale
Engram failed to bring in his only target in the Broncos' 28-19 preseason win over the Saints on Saturday afternoon.
ANALYSIS
Engram was naturally part of the first-team offense over the first three drives, but he closed out his preseason in quiet fashion after making a splash with a 58-yard catch against the Cardinals last Saturday. The veteran tight end is teed up for a significant role in the Broncos' Bo Nix-led offense, beginning with their Week 1 home matchup against the Titans.
Aug 17, 2025
Big chunk gain on one catch
Engram brought in his only target for a 58-yard reception in the Broncos' 27-7 preseason win over the Cardinals on Saturday night.
ANALYSIS
The veteran offseason addition made an instant impact Saturday, recording his long gain on Denver's second play from scrimmage to get the Broncos out of the shadow of their goal posts and down to the Cardinals' 37-yard line. Engram made the connection with No. 2 quarterback Jarrett Stidham, but come the regular season, the accomplished tight end projects as one of promising second-year signal-caller Bo Nix's top targets.
Aug 5, 2025
Draws praise in camp
Broncos offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi said Tuesday that Engram has "met or exceeded" expectations in camp so far, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Engram has had an impressive camp thus far, drawing the attention of Denver's coaching staff for his versatility at the tight end position. Lombardi told reporters "He can run. He can change direction. Willing blocker. He sticks his nose in there. Complete tight end. Guy that's been really showing up in camp." The 30-year-old will enter his ninth season, and his change of scenery could provide a boost in his production. After a disappointing and injury-riddled 2024 campaign in Jacksonville, Engram immediately presents an upgrade at the tight end position, providing second-year quarterback Bo Nix with a reliable target. The veteran's skills as a receiver and blocking acumen should afford him extensive playing time in head coach Sean Payton's tight end-friendly system.
Jun 6, 2025
Building momentum with new team
Broncos head coach Sean Payton said Thursday that Engram (shoulder), who has been an active participant at OTAs, has shown "real good instincts" at practice, Aric DiLalla of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Engram said Thursday he feels "the potential is through the roof" for second-year quarterback Bo Nix, per Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site, and the veteran tight end projects to be a significant part of the young signal-caller's Year 2 development. Now fully recovered from the hamstring and labrum injuries that limited him to nine regular-season appearances with Jacksonville in 2024, Engram is entrenched as Denver's top tight end above Adam Trautman, and he's staring down a seemingly straightforward path to emerging as the No. 2 option in the passing game behind top wideout Courtland Sutton. Marvin Mims, Devaughn Vele and Troy Franklin project as complementary options and are joined by rookie third-rounder Pat Bryant, but Engram is clearly the Broncos' most proficient target outlet for short passes, even if his prime is in the past as he enters his age-31 season. Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports that Engram's usage at OTAs suggests a key role in the passing game.
Mar 12, 2025
Signing with Broncos
Engram (shoulder) is signing a two-year contract with Denver, according to agent Mike McCartney.
ANALYSIS
The Jaguars released Engram in early March, about 11 weeks after he had surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder. He may not practice this spring but should be ready by Week 1, at which point he'll be 31 years old and taking over as the top pass-catching TE in an offense that sent just 13.1 percent of its targets to the position last year (second lowest rate in the league). That number will rise considerably if Engram stays relatively healthy, although he's unlikely to match his per-game volume from the past two years in Jacksonville, where injuries to Christian Kirk and other wideouts forced extra targets in the tight end's direction.
Mar 10, 2025
Meeting with Broncos
Engram is visiting the Broncos on Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Released by the Jaguars last week, Engram is seeking a new home for what will be his age-31 season. He underwent surgery in December to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder, which may lead to limitations this offseason but shouldn't impact his Week 1 availability. The Broncos have a glaring need at tight end, where a committee approach yielded only 51 cumulative receptions for 483 yards and five TDs last season. Denver's tight ends accounted for 13.1 percent of the team target total -- the second-lowest rate in the league (Giants - 11.6 percent).
Mar 6, 2025
Cut by Jags
The Jaguars released Engram (shoulder) on Thursday, Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Engram's 2024 campaign was abbreviated due to a torn labrum in his left shoulder that required surgery in mid-December, but he also sat out Weeks 2-5 due to a hamstring injury, limiting him to nine regular-season appearances. He was modestly productive when healthy, hauling in 47 of 64 passes for 365 yards and one touchdown. Engram was heading into the final season of the three-year, $41.25 million contract that he agreed to with Jacksonville in July 2023, and the team will free up $5.98 million in cap savings with this move. The Jags will be left with Brenton Strange, Patrick Murtagh (ankle) and Shane Bowman at tight end once the new league year kicks off next Wednesday.
Dec 18, 2024
Gets surgery on shoulder
Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson said Engram underwent surgery Monday to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder, Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Engram was ruled out for the Jaguars' final four games of the season when he was placed on injured reserve Saturday, though it wasn't immediately known if he would get surgery to address the labrum tear. With the procedure now confirmed, Engram will likely be shut down from activity for a few weeks before beginning a rehab program. Pederson said he expects Engram to be a full participant when the Jaguars begin their offseason program in the spring, when the 30-year-old tight end will be heading into the final season of the three-year, $41.25 million extension he signed in July 2023. After turning in a career-best 114-catch, 963-yard season in 2023, Engram took a big step back statistically in 2024, but he was still a usable fantasy starter in PPR formats with a 47-365-1 receiving line on 64 targets over nine appearances.
Dec 14, 2024
Officially on IR
Engram (shoulder) was placed on injured reserve Saturday, Demetrius Harvey of The Florida Times-Union reports.
ANALYSIS
It was announced earlier this week Engram would miss the rest of the season due to a torn labrum, so this is just a transactional move by the Jaguars. The veteran has one year remaining on his contract with zero guarantees on his $14.75 million base salary, which means it's entirely possible the team could move on from Engram with the projected coaching and potential front office changes on the horizon.
Dec 13, 2024
Out for the season
Engram (shoulder) will miss the rest of the season due to a torn labrum, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Jaguars coach Doug Pederson made the announcement Friday, after the tight end missed consecutive practices. Brenton Strange figures to step in as Jacksonville's starter, just as he did earlier this season when Engram was out with a hamstring injury. Engram will have surgery soon and should be ready for Week 1 of 2025, but his future in Jacksonville is uncertain with one year remaining on his contract and no current guarantees for a $14.75 million base salary.
Dec 12, 2024
Misses practice again
Engram (shoulder) remained sidelined at practice Thursday, Demetrius Harvey of The Florida Times-Union reports.
ANALYSIS
Head coach Doug Pederson noted Wednesday that he anticipated Engram being available for Sunday's game against the Jets, but back-to-back absences from practice make the tight end's status worth tracking, nonetheless. If Engram ends up limited or out this weekend, Brenton Strange and Luke Farrell would be in line to see added snaps in Week 15.
Dec 11, 2024
Not practicing Wednesday
Engram (shoulder) won't practice Wednesday, Mia O'Brien of 1010 XL 92.5 FM Jacksonville reports.
ANALYSIS
While Engram is in line to be sidelined Wednesday, head coach Doug Pederson expects the tight end to play Sunday against the Jets. Engram -- who caught four of his six targets for 33 yards in a Week 14 win over the Titans -- has two more chances to practice ahead of the contest, but unless he works fully by Friday, he figures to head into the weekend with an injury designation.
Dec 9, 2024
Quiet against Titans
Engram recorded four receptions on six targets for 33 yards in Sunday's 10-6 win over the Titans.
ANALYSIS
Engram's six targets were good for second on the team and also marked his fifth straight game with at least that many opportunities. However, his longest catch went for just 11 yards as the Jacksonville offense struggled to generate explosive plays. Engram has now been held below 40 yards in half of his last eight games.
Dec 2, 2024
Team-high catch total in loss
Engram secured seven of nine targets for 41 yards in the Jaguars' 23-20 loss to the Texans on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Engram's catch total was a team-high figure, and the veteran tight end checked in third in targets behind wideouts Parker Washington (12) and Brian Thomas (10). Engram has at least five receptions in all but one of the seven games he's played since returning from a four-week stint on injured reserve due to a hamstring issue. Even if Mac Jones remains the starting quarterback the rest of the way in place of Trevor Lawrence (concussion), the veteran tight end's fantasy outlook should remain solid considering he's typically on the other end of high-percentage throws.
Nov 17, 2024
Does little with five catches
Engram secured five of seven targets for 28 yards in the Jaguars' 52-6 loss to the Lions on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Engram tied Brian Thomas for the team lead in receptions and targets but was a distant second in receiving yards. It was the third straight game with at least five receptions for Engram, but he's failed to top 45 receiving yards in five straight games. The veteran tight end will hope to have Trevor Lawrence (shoulder) back under center in Week 13 against the Texans following a Week 12 bye.
Nov 10, 2024
Six catches in loss
Engram recorded six receptions on eight targets for 40 yards in Sunday's 12-7 loss to the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
Engram was one of the few Jacksonville pass catchers who was able to get anything going with Mac Jones under center. He led the team in targets and was the only player to record more than a pair of receptions. The end result was still uninspiring for Engram, as he was targeted primarily in short areas of the field, limiting his ability to rack up meaningful yardage.
Nov 4, 2024
Leading receiver off 10 targets
Engram finished with five receptions (10 targets) for 45 yards in Sunday's 28-23 loss to the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
Engram led the Jaguars in receiving yards, receptions and targets in a game where the offense did not score a passing touchdown. The 30-year-old produced a solid fantasy score on the heels of his first touchdown catch of the season. The veteran tight end is now averaging six receptions for 54.5 yards over his last four games since returning from injury. Engram should be considered a reliable fantasy play heading into next Sunday's tilt against Minnesota.
Oct 27, 2024
Catches first TD of 2024
Engram caught four of five targets for 36 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 30-27 loss to the Packers.
ANALYSIS
Engram cashed in his first touchdown of the season in the second half of a narrow loss to Green Bay. The athletic tight end had participated in just three games prior to Sunday's score, marking a good time for fantasy managers in need of a tight end to pick up the veteran. Engram carries value into a Week 9 matchup against the Eagles next Sunday.
Oct 24, 2024
Increases practice activity
Engram (hamstring) was a full practice participant Thursday.
ANALYSIS
After missing four straight games with the hamstring injury from Weeks 2 through 6, Engram has suited up in both of Jacksonville's last two contests while putting together a 15-137-0 receiving line on 15 targets. He was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice, but his ability to take every rep a day later likely implies that his reps were capped to begin the week merely for maintenance purposes. Engram should be ready to operate as one of quarterback Trevor Lawrence's top targets in Sunday's game versus the Packers.
Oct 23, 2024
Begins week with limited practice
Engram (hamstring) was a limited participant in practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Engram's practice participation continues to be limited by the hamstring injury that led to a four-game absence earlier in the season, but he has looked fine on game days recently, catching all 15 of his targets across Weeks 6 and 7. Barring a setback, Engram should be available for Sunday's favorable matchup against a Packers defense that has struggled against tight ends.
Oct 20, 2024
Underwhelming yardage in win
Engram secured all five targets for 35 yards in the Jaguars' 32-16 win over the Patriots on Sunday in London.
ANALYSIS
Engram finished tied with Brian Thomas for the team lead in receptions and targets, but he was a distant second to his teammate in receiving yards. Nevertheless, the Jaguars had the luxury of not having to be overly aggressive through the air due to game script, leading to Trevor Lawrence only throwing a total of 20 times. Despite the modest production Sunday, Engram encouragingly has a 15-137 line on 15 targets over his first two games back from a hamstring injury, affording him plenty of momentum heading into a Week 8 home matchup against the Packers.
Oct 18, 2024
Cleared to play Week 7
Engram (hamstring) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Patriots, Demetrius Harvey of the Florida Times-Union reports.
ANALYSIS
Engram had a productive return from a four-week absence due to a hamstring injury in Jacksonville's 35-16 loss to the Bears this past Sunday, logging 10 catches for 102 yards. He was limited in practice Wednesday and Thursday by the same injury but has been cleared for action Sunday after a full practice Friday, sparing Engram's fantasy managers the headache of getting up early to check on his status before Sunday's 9:30 a.m. ET kickoff at Wembley Stadium in England.
Oct 17, 2024
Still limited in practice
Engram (hamstring) remained limited at practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Engram still hasn't been a full practice participant since injuring his hamstring in pregame warmups Week 2, but he finally returned to action this past Sunday and caught each of his 10 targets for 102 yards in a 35-16 loss to the Bears. He handled 62 percent snap share and 75 percent route share, playing deep into the fourth quarter without any hint of an injury aggravation/setback. Engram seems on track to play again this Sunday against the Patriots, but an injury designation remains possible given his continued limitations in practice.
Oct 16, 2024
Listed with hamstring injury again
Engram (hamstring) was a limited practice participant Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
After missing Weeks 2-5 with a hamstring injury, Engram returned for Sunday's 35-16 loss to the Bears and caught each of his 10 targets for 102 while handling 62 percent snap share and 75 percent route share. Injury reports Thursday and Friday should provide a better idea about whether his hamstring is still a concern or the Jaguars are just being cautious.
Oct 13, 2024
Eclipses century mark in return
Engram secured all 10 targets for 102 yards and lost a fumble in the Jaguars' 35-16 loss to the Bears on Sunday in London.
ANALYSIS
Engram led the Jaguars in receptions, receiving yards and targets in his return from a four-game absence due to a hamstring injury. The veteran tight end's encouraging instant chemistry with Trevor Lawrence was encouraging but not necessarily surprising given their body of work in 2023, and despite the team's overall struggles, Engram appears set to offer above-average fantasy production at the always fickle tight-end position moving forward. Engram will aim to carry over the momentum into a second straight London matchup against the Patriots in Week 7.
Oct 13, 2024
Good to go for Week 6
Engram (hamstring) is active for Sunday's game against the Bears in London.
ANALYSIS
For the first time since the Jaguars' season-opening loss to the Dolphins, Engram is slated to play after missing the previous four games while recovering from the hamstring strain he suffered during pregame warmups in Week 2. Engram still had a cap on his reps in each of the Jaguars' three practices this week, and while he's expected to reclaim a starting role in his return to the lineup, he could have his workload managed to some degree. Engram had been one of the top fantasy producers at tight end during the 2023 season, putting together a 114-963-4 receiving line on 143 targets over 17 games.
Oct 12, 2024
Expected to suit up Sunday
Engram (hamstring) is likely to play in Sunday's Week 6 contest versus Chicago in London, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Schefter's report follows an earlier report by Jordan Schultz of FOX Sports that described Engram as trending toward playing. It thus appears the tight end will end a four-game absence after injuring his hamstring during pregame warmups prior to Cleveland's second game of the campaign. Brenton Strange has been filling in for Engram as the Jaguars' starting tight end and will likely revert to a backup role Sunday.
Oct 12, 2024
Appears on track to play
Engram (hamstring), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's matchup in London against the Bears, is trending towards playing, Jordan Schultz of FOX Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Fantasy managers still must check in on the tight end's status before the 9:30 a.m. ET kickoff in London, but this seems to echo the optimism head coach Doug Pederson had regarding Engram making his return after a four-game absence. Should the veteran tight end be cleared to return, Brenton Strange would wind up operating in a reserve capacity.
Oct 11, 2024
Listed as questionable for Sunday
Engram (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Bears after practicing in a limited fashion this week, Demetrius Harvey of The Florida Times-Union reports.
ANALYSIS
Adam Schefter of ESPN relayed earlier this week that coach Doug Pederson expressed optimism that Engram would be available this weekend. However, given that the TE is officially listed as questionable, his Week 6 status won't be confirmed until the Jaguars' inactives are posted ahead of Sunday's 9:30 AM ET kickoff in London.
Oct 10, 2024
Remains limited in practice
Engram (hamstring) was a limited practice participant Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Engram was a limited participant all of last week and has now repeated that status in back-to-back practices this week. Coach Doug Pederson was optimistic Monday about Engram's chances of playing this Sunday against the Bears in London, but fantasy managers still need to treat the tight end as an unknown for the time being.
Oct 9, 2024
Logs limited practice Wednesday
Engram (hamstring) was limited at practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Engram hasn't seen game snaps since injuring his hamstring in pregame warmups ahead of Week 2 action, but Adam Schefter of ESPN relayed earlier this week that coach Doug Pederson thinks "the chances of" the tight end "getting back in here this week are pretty good." The Jaguars face the Bears in London on Sunday at 9:30 AM ET.
Oct 7, 2024
Coach optimistic for Week 6
Coach Doug Pederson said Monday that he's optimistic Evan Engram (hamstring) will be cleared to play Sunday against the Bears in London, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Engram hasn't played since injuring his hamstring in pregame warmups for Week 2, but last season's league leader in receptions among tight ends (114) is nearing a return. Brenton Strange has posted 120 receiving yards and two touchdowns over the last four games while filling in for Engram. If Pederson's optimism is backed up by full practice participation from Engram once the Jaguars begin their Week 6 preparation Wednesday, the tight end may be able to avoid the injury report altogether.
Oct 6, 2024
Missing fourth straight game
Engram (hamstring) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Colts.
ANALYSIS
Engram took a step forward in his recovery from a hamstring injury this week by logging a trio of limited practices, but the Jaguars determined that the tight end needed at least one more game off to heal up. With Engram out for a fourth straight contest, Brenton Strange should serve as the Jaguars' top pass-catching tight end. Engram's absence could also open up more looks in the short and intermediate areas of the field for Christian Kirk, who has amassed 22 targets over the past two contests.
Oct 5, 2024
Trending toward not playing
Engram (hamstring), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Colts, is not expected to play, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Engram sustained the hamstring injury during pregame warmups back in Week 2, and now it seems as if the talented tight end could be out a fourth consecutive week as a result. Brenton Strange has taken over as the clear starter in his absence tallying eight catches for 96 yards and a touchdown across 14 targets, but his target share has dipped each of the past two weeks.

Status in question for Sunday
Engram (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game versus the Colts, Demetrius Harvey of The Florida Times-Union reports.
ANALYSIS
Engram has been sidelined since he sustained a hamstring injury during pregame warmups before a Week 2 matchup with the Browns, but his ability to put together three consecutive limited practices this week has put himself on a path to return to action Sunday. His status will be confirmed, one way or another, approximately 90 minutes before a 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff, but it remains to be seen what kind of workload he can handle if he's deemed active.
Oct 3, 2024
Churns out limited practice
Engram (hamstring) was a limited practice participant Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Engram hasn't played since Week 1, but with two straight limited practices to begin Week 5 prep, he's putting himself in a position to put an end to his three-game absence Sunday versus the Colts. In order to avoid being listed as questionable heading into the weekend, however, Engram will likely need to upgrade to full participation in Friday's practice.
Oct 2, 2024
Returns to limited practice
Engram (hamstring) was limited at practice Wednesday, Demetrius Harvey of The Florida Times-Unionreports.
ANALYSIS
Engram, who last saw game action Week 1, was unable to practice last week, so his return to Wednesday's session -- albeit in a limited capacity -- offers hope that the tight end could return to action Sunday against the Colts. Engram has two more chances to increase his participation level ahead of the contest, though he'll presumably need to practice fully by Friday in order to avoid a Week 5 injury designation.
Sep 27, 2024
Ruled out this week
Engram (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Texans.
ANALYSIS
Engram, who last saw game action in Week 1, will thus target a potential return to action Oct. 6 against the Colts. In his continued absence, Brenton Strange is once again slated to lead the Jaguars' TE corps this weekend.
Sep 27, 2024
Unlikely to play against Houston
Speaking with the media Friday, coach Doug Pederson said Engram (hamstring) is doubtful to play Sunday against the Texans, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Injured in pregame warmups ahead of Week 2, Engram hasn't practiced since and remains a question mark ahead of Week 5 against the Colts. Brenton Strange has started in Engram's place each of the last two weeks, reeling in five of 11 targets for 77 yards and one touchdown. Strange remains a fringe TE1 or TE2 for fantasy purposes for however long Engram is sidelined.
Sep 26, 2024
Misses another practice
Engram (hamstring) remained sidelined at practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Engram also missed Wednesday's session, which sets the stage for Friday's practice to be pivotal in terms of the tight end's chances of suiting up Sunday against the Texans. If Engram is forced to miss another contest, Brenton Strange would once again be in line to see added opportunities in Jacksonville's passing offense this weekend.
Sep 25, 2024
Misses practice Wednesday
Engram (hamstring) didn't practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Coach Doug Pederson acknowledged Tuesday that it'll be a close call on whether Engram will be able to play against Houston on Sunday, Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com reports. The tight end last saw game action in Week 1, and if he remains sidelined versus the Texans this weekend, Brenton Strange would be in line to continue to see added opportunities in Jacksonville's offense.
Sep 24, 2024
Status for Week 4 uncertain
Coach Doug Pederson said Tuesday "it'll be close" when asked whether Engram (hamstring) will be ready to retake the field for Sunday's divisional matchup against the Texans, Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Engram has missed back-to-back games due to a hamstring injury and now faces a short week of rest to try and get healthy in time for Sunday's pivotal road matchup against Houston. The veteran tight end hasn't yet resumed practicing in any capacity since injuring his hamstring during a Week 2 pregame warmup. With Engram unavailable during Monday's 47-10 loss to the Bills, Brenton Strange started at tight end and hauled in two of five targets for 12 yards and a touchdown, the second score of his career.
Sep 21, 2024
Out ahead of Monday's contest
Engram (hamstring) will not play in Monday's game against the Bills, Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
This felt like the unfortunate conclusion for Engram's opportunity to play in Week 3 given the tight end had not practiced at all during the week. Brenton Strange will once again operate as the team's starter and will hope to build on his career outing from last week when he tallied 65 yards on three catches.
Sep 21, 2024
Not trending towards playing
Head coach Doug Pederson suggested Saturday that Engram would not play in Monday's contest against the Bills, Demetrius Harvey of The Florida Times-Union reports.
ANALYSIS
The Jaguars will list their official final injury report later in the day, but this shouldn't be a surprising development for fantasy managers given Engram has failed to practice at any point this week. Expect Brenton Strange to once again fill in for Engram, if he's inevitably ruled out. The second-year tight end tallied 65 yards on three catches as the emergency fill in last week.
Sep 20, 2024
Remains non-participant Friday
Engram (hamstring) didn't practice Friday.
ANALYSIS
Engram has missed Jacksonville's first two practices in preparation for Monday's game against the Bills after getting hurt in pregame warmups ahead of the team's Week 2 loss to the Browns. Brenton Strange filled in atop Jacksonville's tight end depth chart and posted 65 receiving yards in Engram's absence. While Engram will have one more chance to take the practice field Saturday before Jacksonville publishes its Week 3 injury report, his fantasy managers should start lining up alternatives, as Engram appears to be trending toward another absence.
Sep 19, 2024
Misses practice Thursday
Engram (hamstring) didn't practice Thursday, Demetrius Harvey of The Florida Times-Union reports.
ANALYSIS
After suffering a hamstring injury in pregame warmups, Engram missed this past Sunday's loss to the Browns. According to Harvey, head coach Doug Pederson acknowledged prior to Thursday's session that Engram is "a little bit further away," and the tight end's inability to take any reps doesn't inspire much early confidence that he'll be ready to play Monday against the Bills. Engram has two more chances to log some practice activity before the Jaguars post their final Week 3 injury report Saturday.
Sep 16, 2024
Week 3 status TBD
Coach Doug Pederson noted Monday that there's a degree of optimism with regard to Engram's hamstring issue, but acknowledged that it may be a "week-to-week" deal for the tight end.
ANALYSIS
Though Engram was not among the Jaguars' initial inactives prior to Sunday's loss to the Browns, he suffered a setback during warmups and was then deemed out by the team ahead of kickoff time. For now, Pederson indicated that the Jaguars will have to "see where (Engram) is this week," but at this stage the tight end's status for the next Monday's tilt against the Bills is cloudy. If Engram is unavailable in Week 3, Brenton Strange and Luke Farrell would once again be in line for added snaps.
Sep 15, 2024
Hurts hamstring, won't play
Engram suffered a hamstring injury in pregame warmups and won't play Sunday against the Browns.
ANALYSIS
Engram is active for the contest and wasn't on the Jaguars' Week 2 injury report, but he'll end up sitting out Sunday after suffering the untimely injury. Luke Farrell and Brenton Strange are left as Jacksonville's available tight ends.
Sep 8, 2024
Nearly blanked in Week 1 loss
Engram brought in one of four targets for five yards in the Jaguars' 20-17 loss to the Dolphins on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
The veteran tight end came into Week 1 with sky-high expectations due to a pair of offseason departures and his own career-best 2023, but Engram's Week 1 production was an undeniable dud. Trevor Lawrence flashed the most chemistry with newcomers Gabe Davis and Brian Thomas in the loss, and the entire air attack was ineffective as the second half unfolded. Engram will aim to revert to his typically more voluminous workload during a Week 2 visit from the Browns next Sunday.
Aug 23, 2024
Pair of touchdown grabs
Engram recorded a catch on all four of his targets for 28 yards and two touchdowns in Friday's 31-0 preseason win over the Falcons.
ANALYSIS
Engram played on two drives, both of which came with Trevor Lawrence. With Christian Kirk (calf) sidelined, Engram was Lawernce's favorite target and caught touchdown receptions of five and six yards. He has failed to top four trips to the end zone in the regular season since his rookie campaign in 2017, but this usage could suggest he'll be a favorite target in the red zone in 2024.
Aug 16, 2024
Impresses in joint practices
Engram was a standout during Jacksonville's final joint practice with the Buccaneers on Thursday, Zach Goodall of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Engram connected with quarterback Trevor Lawrence on a deep ball during the final day of joint practices with Tampa Bay, per Goodall. The veteran tight end is coming off a career-best 2023 campaign in which he tallied a 114-963-4 receiving line across 17 regular-season contests, and he remains slated for an integral role in Jacksonville's receiving game. Former top wideout Calvin Ridley departed for Tennessee in free agency, though the Jaguars added veteran Gabe Davis and rookie first-round pick Brian Thomas to the wide receiver corps. Trevor Lawrence isn't slated to play in Saturday's preseason game against Tampa Bay, meaning Engram will also likely sit out. That will make his final chance to log exhibition action Aug. 23 versus the Falcons.
Jan 7, 2024
Draws 13 targets
Engram recorded 10 receptions on 13 targets for 79 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 28-20 loss to the Titans.
ANALYSIS
Engram led the team in targets and receptions, marking the third time he's been targeted at least 10 times in his last five games. He didn't post a particularly impressive yardage total with the opportunity, though he did manage his fourth touchdown of the season on a 14-yard catch early in the final quarter. Engram ends the season with an impressive 114 receptions and is penciled into a key role with the Jaguars again in 2024.
Jan 1, 2024
Paces pass catchers in win
Engram secured all six targets for 60 yards in the Jaguars' 26-0 win over the Panthers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Engram led the Jaguars in receptions and receiving yards in a low-volume day for the C.J. Beathard-helmed passing game. Engram now has at least Sunday's reception and yardage totals in four of the last five games, sending him into a key Week 18 road matchup against the Titans with plenty of momentum.
Dec 24, 2023
Generates 14 targets in loss
Engram corralled 10 of 14 targets for 95 yards in Sunday's 30-12 loss to Tampa Bay.
ANALYSIS
Engram generated a season-high mark of 14 targets as the Jaguars played catch up for nearly the entirety of Sunday's loss. The athletic tight end's strong season continues with a season receiving line of 98/824/3 through 15 games. Engram has reached double-digit targets with 95 receiving yards for the second time in three weeks. Jacksonville did lose quarterback Trevor Lawrence (shoulder) to an injury unrelated to the high-ankle sprain he was already playing through, so Engram could be receiving passes from backup C.J. Beathard against the Panthers next Sunday.
Dec 18, 2023
Reverts to modest production
Engram had four receptions on six targets for 28 yards in Sunday's 23-7 loss to the Ravens.
ANALYSIS
Engram reverted back to his usual form after going off for a combined 20 receptions, 177 yards and three touchdowns over his previous two contests. While that sort of production was unrealistic to expect to continue, fantasy managers were likely hoping for a gradual regression to the mean as opposed what transpired Sunday. Perhaps Engram can meet somewhere in the middle when the Jaguars visit the Buccaneers next Sunday.
Dec 10, 2023
Two more scores
Engram recorded 11 receptions on 12 targets for 95 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 31-27 loss to the Browns.
ANALYSIS
Engram benefitted from the absence of Christian Kirk (groin) and Jacksonville playing from behind to command a season-high 11 targets. He had primarily short gains, though his longest reception went for 23 yards. Engram also found the end zone from 10 and two yards away, and he's now tallied three touchdowns in his last two games after failing to do so for the first 11 contests of the campaign. He'll draw a difficult matchup in Week 15 against the Ravens, though volume should be on his side with Kirk still sidelined.
Dec 5, 2023
Scores first TD of 2023
Engram caught all nine of his targets for 82 yards and a touchdown in Monday's 34-31 overtime loss to the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
Engram scored his first touchdown of the season on a 22-yard catch in the second quarter to put the Jaguars ahead 14-7. The touchdown came on a pass thrown by Trevor Lawrence (ankle), who later left the game in the fourth quarter. Engram accounted for four of C.J. Beathard's nine completions in two drives after Lawrence's injury, so the productive tight end figures to remain heavily involved in the Week 14 game plan against the Browns.
Nov 26, 2023
Modest output on eight targets
Engram caught five of eight targets for 49 yards in Sunday's 24-21 win over the Texans.
ANALYSIS
Engram actually led the Jaguars in targets but posted another modest stat line. He leads the team with 64 catches and is just two targets shy of Christian Kirk's team lead with 82, but Engram has a pedestrian 524 receiving yards and has yet to score a touchdown heading into a Week 13 home game against the Bengals on Monday Night Football.
Nov 19, 2023
Remains short-area target
Engram recorded four receptions on six targets for 29 yards in Sunday's 34-14 win over the Titans.
ANALYSIS
Engram kept his typical role in the Jacksonville offense, as he finished tied for second on the team in targets. However, he was limited to short areas of the field, with his longest gain of the day going for 13 yards. That usage is nothing new, as Engram now has under 50 receiving yards in five of his last six contests.
Nov 13, 2023
Held in check Sunday
Engram caught four of seven targets for 12 yards during Sunday's 34-3 loss to the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
Quarterback Trevor Lawrence threw for just 185 yards in the blowout loss, with Christian Kirk being the lone notable producer with six catches for 104 yards. Engram finished second on the team in targets but was unable to do much with those looks, setting a season low in yardage and tying a season low in receptions. The Week 11 matchup with Tennessee should present a more favorable outlook for Jacksonville's offense.
Oct 29, 2023
Ten catches in Week 8 win
Engram caught all 10 of his targets for 88 yards and lost a fumble in Sunday's 20-10 win over the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Engram has seen plenty of volume throughout the season, but the tight end has yet to find the end zone while doing most of his damage near the line of scrimmage. He led the Jaguars in receiving yards in this game and set a season high in that category, but Engram also lost a fumble in the red zone. Heading into Jacksonville's Week 9 bye, the tight end has 51 catches for 434 yards on 61 targets.
Oct 20, 2023
Five receptions in Week 7 win
Engram secured five of seven targets for 45 yards in the Jaguars' 31-24 win over the Saints on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Engram finished second in receptions and receiving yards for the Jaguars on the night with his sixth tally of at least five catches on the campaign. The veteran tight end has been capped at 67 receiving yards this season as far as a single-game high, and he'll likely serve in a similar complementary role again in a Week 8 road matchup against the Steelers on Sunday, Oct. 29.
Oct 15, 2023
Keeps busy in Week 6 win
Engram brought in all seven targets for 41 yards in the Jaguars' 37-20 win over the Colts on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Engram led the Jaguars in receptions by a comfortable margin as Trevor Lawrence (knee) threw for only 181 yards at 6.0 yards per attempt. The veteran tight end now has seven catches in three of the last four contests, and he's already up to 44 targets through six games, putting him on pace to surpass last season's 98. Engram next takes aim at the Saints defense in a Week 7 road matchup, although it remains to be seen if he'll be operating with Trevor Lawrence (knee) or C.J. Beathard as his quarterback in that contest.
Oct 8, 2023
Just 28 yards Week 5
Engram caught four of eight targets for 28 yards during Sunday's 25-20 win over Buffalo.
ANALYSIS
The 29-year-old tight end tied for the team lead in targets but had a long reception of nine yards and finished with his lowest yardage total of the season. It's the third straight game with exactly eight targets for Engram, and if that trend continues, he should continue to have a decent fantasy floor even as the tertiary option in Jacksonville's passing game.
Oct 1, 2023
Makes seven grabs
Engram caught seven of eight targets for 59 yards in Sunday's 23-7 win over the Falcons.
ANALYSIS
Engram trailed only wideout Christian Kirk for Jacksonville's team lead in catches, targets and receiving yards. The tight end has hauled in at least five passes in all four games this season, garnering eight looks in three straight weeks. However, Engram is yet to find the end zone, something he'll strive to change in Week 5's game against the Bills in London.
Sep 24, 2023
Leads air attack in loss
Engram brought in seven of eight targets for 67 yards in the Jaguars' 37-17 loss to the Texans on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Engram led the Jaguars' pass catchers across the stat sheet with his second straight solid performance. The veteran tight end recorded season highs in receptions and receiving yards while also tying his high-water mark in targets, as he essentially continues in the same robust role he enjoyed in 2022. Engram's next opportunity to build on his early-season momentum comes in a Week 4 matchup versus the Falcons in London.
Sep 17, 2023
Six catches in Week 2 loss
Engram caught six of eight targets for 57 yards in Sunday's 17-9 loss to the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Engram has 11 catches through two weeks after averaging just over five catches per game last season, with 73 in 17 appearances. The 29-year-old tight end has a consistent role in Jacksonville's Trevor Lawrence-led passing game ahead of the team's Week 3 home game against Houston.
Sep 10, 2023
Five grabs in Week 1 win
Engram caught all five of his targets for 49 yards in Sunday's 31-21 win over the Colts.
ANALYSIS
It was a strong start to the season for the tight end, who gained more than half his yards on a 26-yard grab in the third quarter that helped set up a Jacksonville field goal. Engram set new career highs in catches and receiving yards last year, and the 29-year-old's role doesn't appear to have changed much in 2023. He'll look to stay productive in Week 2 against Kansas City.
Jul 16, 2023
Agrees to three-year deal
Engram agreed to a three-year, $42.5 million contract with the Jaguars on Sunday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Engram sat out the Jaguars' offseason program after being assigned the franchise tag for $11.35 million, but the two sides reached a long-team deal that gives the 2017 first-round pick job security and a hefty raise before Monday's 4 p.m. ET deadline. The 28-year-old joined Jacksonville on a one-year deal ahead of the 2022 campaign and finished with 73 receptions for 766 yards -- both career highs. With Calvin Ridley now in town and Travis Etienne fully healthy, Engram's target share might drop a bit, but the tight end is still expected to be a vital part of Jacksonville's passing attack in 2023.
Jul 16, 2023
Expected at camp
Engram likely will report to training camp even if he doesn't get a long-term deal before the Monday deadline, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Engram sat out the offseason program after the Jags assigned him a franchise tag for $11.35 million. He's hoping for a long-term deal before 4 p.m. ET on Monday but apparently will sign the tag and report to camp even if it doesn't happen. Engram signed a one-year, $9 million contract with the Jaguars last offseason and finished his first year in Jacksonville with career highs for catches (73) and receiving yards (766). He'll turn 28 a week before the 2023 season begins and has missed only two games over the past three seasons after sitting out 14 his first three years in the league.
Apr 17, 2023
Won't be at voluntary workouts
Engram is not in line to participate in the initial stage of the Jaguars' voluntary offseason workout program, Demetrius Harvey of The Florida Times-Union reports.
ANALYSIS
At this stage, the tight end has yet to sign his franchise tag with Jacksonville, with the two sides having until July 17 to potentially come to terms on a contract extension, something that GM Trent Baalke has noted that he hopes to see occur. If not, assuming Engram signs his franchise tender with the Jaguars, the 2017 first-rounder would be in line to earn $11.35 in 2023. The 28-year-old is coming off a 2022 campaign (his first with the team) in which he caught a career-high 73 passes for 766 yards and four TDs in 17 games.
Mar 6, 2023
Gets franchise tag from Jaguars
The Jaguars have assigned the franchise tag to Engram, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
ANALYSIS
This was already the expectation, but it's now slated to occur after the sides were unable to come to an agreement on a long-term deal ahead of Tuesday's tagging deadline. They'll now have until mid-July to keep discussing a deal. Engram had a career year in Jacksonville last season with 73 catches for 766 yards and four touchdowns.
Mar 2, 2023
Expected to get the franchise tag
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Jaguars are expected to assign the franchise tag to Engram.
ANALYSIS
Jaguars GM Trent Baalke said earlier in the week that Engram was going to be back with the team in 2023, whether it was via the franchise tag or on a long-term deal. The tag gives the Jaguars more time to talk with Engram's camp to hammer out an extension. If Engram plays on the tag, it will pay him a guaranteed $11.345 million.
Jan 21, 2023
Held in check
Engram recorded five receptions on six targets for 31 yards in Saturday's 27-20 loss to the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Engram remained heavily involved in the Jaguars' offense, and he closed the season with at least six targets in five of his last eight games. He didn't do much with his opportunity in Saturday's loss, though he did manage receptions of 16 and 10 yards. Engram recorded a career-best 73 receptions and 766 yards across 17 games in the regular season, and that should help him land a fairly substantial deal in free agency this offseason.
Jan 15, 2023
Paces Jags in receiving yards
Engram recorded seven receptions on 11 targets for 93 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 31-30 wild-card round win over the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Engram racked up double-digit targets for the third time in his last six games and took advantage to put up big gains of 24, 21 and 16 yards. He also began Jacksonville's comeback effort with a nine-yard touchdown catch just before halftime. Engram has been a boom-bust option -- he's topped 100 yards in three of his last six games but has under 30 yards twice in that span -- of late but the Jaguars' offense will likely have to take to the air often with likely potential matchups against the Chiefs or Bills in the AFC divisional round.
Jan 8, 2023
Bounces back with four catches
Engram caught all four passes for 27 yards during Saturday's 20-16 win against the Titans.
ANALYSIS
After managing just one reception during a Week 17 win at Houston, Engram bounced back somewhat in a regular-season finale in which quarterback Trevor Lawrence threw for 212 yards. With the help of two 100-yard performances Weeks 14 and 16, Engram also ended the campaign with career bests in catches (73) and receiving yards (766). The Jaguars clinched the AFC South with this Week 18 win, so he and his teammates will focus on hosting a wild-card round matchup next Saturday, Sunday or Monday.
Jan 1, 2023
Quiet in Week 17
Engram caught one pass for 16 yards on two targets against Houston on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Engram was red-hot going into Sunday's game, but the Jaguars passing game was mostly dormant in the 31-3 blowout victory. Jacksonville didn't have much reason to display their full playbook against a toothless opponent in a meaningless game, so hopefully Engram can get cooking again when the Jaguars face Tennessee for the AFC South title in Week 18.
Dec 22, 2022
Late-season surge continues in win
Engram secured seven of eight targets for 113 yards in the Jaguars' 19-3 win over the Jets on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Engram comfortably paced the Jaguars in receptions, receiving yards and targets, continuing what has been a remarkable late-season breakout. The veteran tight end now has two 100-yard efforts in the last three games, putting together an elite 26-337-2 line on 33 targets over that span. Given his emergence and the Jaguars' ongoing postseason push, Engram figures to once again play a critical role in a Week 17 road matchup against the Texans a week from Sunday.
Dec 18, 2022
Leads team with eight catches
Engram recorded eight receptions on 10 targets for 62 yards in Sunday's 40-34 win over the Cowboys.
ANALYSIS
Engram's sudden jump in involvement in the Jacksonville offense continued, as he tallied double-digit targets for the second consecutive week. That helped him lead the team in receptions, though he managed an inefficient 6.2 yards per target. Despite having long stretches with little production this season, Engram has seemingly emerged as a trustworthy option at tight end in the closing weeks of the season.
Dec 11, 2022
Shreds Titans in victory
Engram recorded 11 receptions on 15 targets for 162 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 36-22 win over the Titans.
ANALYSIS
Engram had seen 14 targets combined across his last four games entering Sunday's matchup against Tennessee, but he suddenly became Trevor Lawrence's favorite target. Engram found the end zone on receptions of 12 and 21 yards to bring his touchdown total on the season to four. He was also potent with big plays, tallying four catches of 15 yards or more. Engram has topped 30 receiving yards in only six of 13 games this season, so despite the standout performance, it's difficult to project a duplicate effort in the near future.
Dec 4, 2022
Gets into end zone during loss
Engram brought in five of seven targets for 30 yards and a touchdown in the Jaguars' 40-14 loss to the Lions on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Engram was second in receptions, receiving yards and targets to Christian Kirk, making it a somewhat atypical afternoon for the veteran tight end. Engram also recorded a three-yard scoring grab late in the third quarter, only his second touchdown of the season. Engram does now have multiple catches in six of the last eight games, but the fact he's topped 50 receiving yards on just three occasions caps his overall upside going into a tough Week 14 road matchup against the Titans.
Nov 28, 2022
Hauls in lone target
Engram caught his lone target for four yards during Sunday's 28=27 win against the Ravens.
ANALYSIS
Engram played 81 percent of the Jaguars' offensive snaps but was minimally involved in the passing game. The 28-year-old caught 19 passes for 231 yards and a touchdown from Weeks 5 to 8, but he has only five catches for 26 yards across the past three games.
Nov 14, 2022
Quiet in Kansas City
Engram caught three of four targets for 14 yards during Sunday's 27-17 loss to the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Engram had a four-yard touchdown catch nullified by a penalty during the third quarter but otherwise played a minor role in the passing game. The 28-year-old didn't appear bothered by the back injury he suffered last week and played 88 percent of the offensive snaps. He has only four catches for 22 yards over the past two games and will enter the Jaguars' Week 11 bye with 36 receptions for 352 yards and one touchdown on the season.
Nov 11, 2022
Cleared for Week 10 action
Engram (back) doesn't carry an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Chiefs after practicing fully Friday.
ANALYSIS
Per Adam Stites of USA Today, Engram played a season-low 55 percent of the Jaguars' snaps in last Sunday's win over the Raiders and was seen on the sideline receiving treatment on his back during that contest. In the process, Engram caught just one of his two targets for eight yards. Now that he's logged a full practice ahead of Week 10 action, Engram will be available versus Kansas City and the tight end is a bounce-back candidate in the absence of any in-game setbacks. Prior to his quiet effort last weekend, Engram had racked up 19 catches for 231 yards on 29 targets and a TD over his previous four games.
Nov 10, 2022
Logs another limited practice
Engram (back) remained limited at practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
After having logged back-to-back limited practices, Engram presumably will need to practice fully Friday in order to avoid an injury designation for Sunday's game against Kansas City. The tight end is coming off a one-catch effort in Week 9, but overall he's compiled a 33-338-1 line on 47 targets through nine games.
Nov 9, 2022
Limited practice Wednesday
Engram (back) was limited at practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Per John Shipley of SI.com, coach Doug Pederson previously called Engram day-to-day, but noted that the tight end should be fine for this weekend's game against Kansas City. In this past Sunday's 27-20 win over the Raiders, Engram caught just one of his two targets for eight yards, while logging a season-low 55 percent snap share and being spotted on the sideline receiving treatment on his back, according to Adam Stites of USA Today.

Should be fine for Week 10
Coach Doug Pederson said Monday that Engram, who briefly left Sunday's win over the Raiders due to a back injury, is considered day-to-day and should be fine for Week 10, John Shipley of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Engram caught one of two targets for eight yards during the contest, but after securing his only reception, he left the field pointing to his lower back. It appears the talented tight end has avoided a major injury, but fantasy mangers are still encouraged to monitor Engram's status throughout the week.
Oct 30, 2022
Tallies first touchdown
Engram recorded four receptions on six targets for 55 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 21-17 loss to the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
Engram led the Jaguars in receptions and yards, highlighted by a 22-yard touchdown to open the scoring in the first quarter. It was his first time in the end zone and his fourth reception of 20 or more yards for the season. Engram has quietly emerged as a consistent producer, as he's tallied at least four receptions in four consecutive games and has also topped 50 receiving yards three times in that span.
Oct 23, 2022
Four catches against former team
Engram caught four of seven targets for 67 yards in Sunday's 23-17 loss to the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Engram came two yards short of his season high, but it wasn't enough to beat the Giants team with which the tight end spent his first five seasons before leaving for Jacksonville in free agency. He's still searching for his first touchdown as a Jaguar heading into a Week 8 home game against the Broncos.
Oct 17, 2022
Five catches in Week 6
Engram caught five of six targets for 40 yards in Sunday's 34-27 loss to the Colts.
ANALYSIS
Engram has seen increased involvement recently, catching 11 of 16 targets for 109 yards over the past two weeks. The former Giants tight end has yet to find the end zone as a member of the Jaguars, but given the lack of tight end depth around the league, Engram's recent uptick in usage gives him appeal in deeper formats.
Oct 9, 2022
Season-high 10 targets
Engram had six receptions (10 targets) for 69 yards in Sunday's 13-6 loss to the Texans.
ANALYSIS
Engram turned in his best fantasy line of the season after posting a pair of duds in Weeks 3 and 4 (two combined catches for 25 yards). The athletic tight end lived up to that label, showing burst on a couple of impressive catch and runs. The 27-year-old has 19 receptions for 168 yards and no touchdowns through five games as the Jaguars' starting tight end. Perhaps this strong game could get Engram going heading into a matchup against the Colts next Sunday.
Oct 3, 2022
One reception Sunday
Engram caught his lone target for 16 yards during Sunday's 29-21 loss to the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
The 28-year-old was a prime candidate to be more involved in the passing game Sunday with Zay Jones (ankle) sitting out, but the offense as a whole struggled in large part due to Trevor Lawrence's five giveaways. Engram played 74 percent of the offensive snaps but now has only two receptions on four targets for 25 yards over the past two weeks.
Sep 26, 2022
Minimal production Week 3
Engram caught one of three targets for nine yards and rushed once for zero yards during Sunday's 38-10 win against the Chargers. He also caught a two-point conversion.
ANALYSIS
Engram appeared to have his first touchdown of the season late in the first half, but the catch was ruled incomplete upon review. The 28-year-old played 76 percent of Jacksonville's offensive snaps but wasn't a factor in the passing game during the blowout victory, as Trevor Lawrence honed in on wideouts Christian Kirk and Zay Jones to great success. Engram now has 12 catches for 83 yards through the first three weeks of the season.
Sep 19, 2022
More involved Sunday
Engram caught seven of eight targets for 46 yards during Sunday's 24-0 win against the Colts.
ANALYSIS
Engram once again worked as the Jaguars' primary tight end and led the team with eight targets, though the yardage was limited since most of his action came underneath. The 28-year-old has caught 11 of 12 targets for 74 yards through the first two weeks of the season.
Sep 12, 2022
Catches four passes Week 1
Engram caught all four of his targets for 28 yards during Sunday's 28-22 loss to the Commanders.
ANALYSIS
Engram tied for fourth on Jacksonville in targets and unsurprisingly operated as the team's clear No. 1 tight end. The 28-year-old wasn't significantly involved in the passing game, as wideouts Christian Kirk and Zay Jones combined for 21 targets on Trevor Lawrence's 42 pass attempts. Engram will need to become more involved if he's to be anything more than a touchdown-reliant fantasy option this year.
Aug 27, 2022
Sitting out preseason finale
Engram is not in line to play in Saturday's preseason finale against the Falcons, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports.
ANALYSIS
Engram is among the Jaguars' key players sitting out the contest and the tight end's next game action will occur in Week 1 against the Commanders. At that time, Engram is slated to serve as Jacksonville's top tight end, with Chris Manhertz, Dan Arnold and Luke Farrell in the depth mix at the position.
Aug 4, 2022
Not playing Thursday
Engram won't play in the Hall of Fame Game against the Raiders on Thursday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Participants in this exhibition rarely trot out starters, so this comes as no surprise. Along with Engram, fellow tight end Chris Manhertz won't suit up, leaving Dan Arnold, Luke Farrell, Grayson Gunter and Gerrit Prince available to the Jags at the position.
Mar 14, 2022
Joining Jaguars
Engram is slated to sign a one-year deal with the Jaguars, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Schefter, Engram's looming pact is a fully-guaranteed $9 million deal that could reach $10 with incentives. The 27-year-old, who caught 46 of his 73 targets for 408 yards and three TDs in 15 games for the Giants in 2021, now figures to be a key target for Jacksonville's young franchise QB, Trevor Lawrence. In that context, Engram appears poised to see an uptick in targets in 2022, with a corresponding boost in his fantasy output a plausible outcome should he avoid injuries and maintain a higher level of consistency in the process.
Jan 11, 2022
Modest season in Year 5
Engram caught 46 of 73 targets for 408 yards and three TDs in 2021.
ANALYSIS
The 23rd overall pick in 2017, Engram has been a disappointment in New York, though his modest production in 2021 can hardly be blamed on him. He'll be a free agent after the season, and he's likely to ply his wares elsewhere in 2022. There's still a ton of physical talent here (4.42 40), but Engram's focus has been inconsistent, and he's not much of a blocker.
Jan 3, 2022
Catches one pass
Engram caught one of his two targets for 12 yards Sunday against the Bears.
ANALYSIS
Engram actually led the team in receiving in the process, underscoring how brutal the Giants passing offense has been of late. Jake Fromm will take over for Mike Glennon in Week 18, but it's unlikely he makes a significant difference.
Dec 29, 2021
Finds end zone in loss
Engram caught four of five targets for 17 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 34-10 loss to the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
Engram's score was the Giants' only touchdown in the blowout loss to the Eagles, saving his fantasy day. The veteran tight end now has just three touchdowns on the season. With New York's offense being led by a either Mike Glennon or Jake Fromm, it is hard to have confidence in Engram to have much of an impact in a Week 17 matchup with the Bears.
Dec 22, 2021
Catches four passes in loss
Engram caught four of five targets for 33 yards in Sunday's 21-6 loss to the Cowboys.
ANALYSIS
Engram's underwhelming season continue in Week 15, as he failed to see the end zone for the fifth straight week. In that same stretch, however, the veteran tight end is averaging five targets per game. The opportunities have been there, but they are just not resulting in much fantasy production. Engram will likely continue to struggle going forward in a bad offense, making him hard to trust in the fantasy playoffs. The Giants get a matchup with the Eagles in Week 16.
Dec 14, 2021
Catches one pass
Engram caught one of four targets Sunday for eight yards.
ANALYSIS
Engram is an inconsistent player stuck in a terrible passing game.
Dec 5, 2021
Makes four catches
Engram recorded four receptions on five targets for 61 yards in Sunday's 20-9 loss to the Dolphins.
ANALYSIS
Engram was able to take advantage of several absences among the Giants' receiving corps to lead the team in receiving yards. He overcame a largely dysfunctional Giants offense to record four double-digit gains, ranging from 10 to 18 yards. Though he hasn't posted exceptional numbers, Engram has found a consistent role in the offense by recording at least three receptions in seven of his nine games this season.
Nov 28, 2021
Makes three catches
Engram caught three passes for 37 yards on six targets against Philadelphia on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
The efficiency was less than sparkling, but there's perhaps encouragement to be found in the fact that Engram's six targets were the second-highest total for the Giants on Sunday, trailing only Kenny Golladay's seven targets. The Giants passing game might need to lean on Engram again when they head to Miami in Week 13, especially if slot receivers Sterling Shepard and Kadarius Toney miss that game with their respective quadriceps injuries. The question of whether Engram and Daniel Jones can capitalize is of course very different, and not one that invites confidence.
Nov 24, 2021
Catches two passes
Engram caught two of five targets for 12 yards in Monday's 30-10 loss to the Buccaneers.
ANALYSIS
Engram played on 90 percent of the team's offensive snaps Monday, the most of any Giants pass catcher. The team struggled moving the ball through the air against Tampa Bay, and Engram wasn't able to get much going after scoring a touchdown in each of his previous two games. The 6-foot-3, 240-pound tight end will look to bounce back when the Giants host the Eagles in Week 12.
Nov 7, 2021
Finds end zone again
Engram recorded three receptions on three targets for 38 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 23-16 win over the Raiders.
ANALYSIS
Engram tied for second on the team with only three targets, an indication of how little the Giants took to the air Sunday. However, he was efficient with his targets, highlighted by a 30-yard touchdown reception to cap the team's first offensive possession. Engram has now found the end zone in each of his last two games and has benefited from the New York's banged up receiving corps. That could change moving forward however, as the Giants head into a Week 10 bye that will presumably allow them to get healthier.
Nov 2, 2021
Scores in defeat
Engram caught three of four targets for 15 yards and a touchdown in Monday night's 20-17 loss to the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Engram didn't get involved until the second half, but he put the Giants ahead with a five-yard touchdown catch to begin the fourth quarter. That marked the tight end's first trip to the end zone this season. Although usually hard to rely on, Engram's stock could benefit from New York's other offensive skill-position players being so banged up in advance of Week 9's matchup versus the Raiders.
Oct 30, 2021
All clear for Monday
Engram (calf) was not listed on the injury report ahead of Monday's game against the Chiefs, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Engram was never in any serious jeopardy of missing Monday's game and has an opportunity to build on his season-high marks from last week with Kenny Golladay (knee) and Saquon Barkley (ankle) once again unable to play. This could also be a showcase contest for the 2017 first-round pick given the ever-increasing trade rumors surrounding Engram as the team once again limits through a disappointing campaign.
Oct 29, 2021
Still limited by calf injury
Engram (calf) remained limited in practice Friday, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Engram missed the first two games of the season due to his injured calf, but he has suited up for every game since, despite frequent appearances on Big Blue's injury report. With trade rumors swirling around him heading into the Nov. 2 trade deadline, Engram will have an opportunity to entice potential suitors with a strong performance Monday against a Chiefs defense that has allowed a league-high 575 yards to tight ends through seven games.
Oct 28, 2021
Dealing with calf issue
Engram was limited by a calf injury at Thursday's practice, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Engram was absent from Wednesday's unofficial session, but he jumped back into some drills for the start of Week 8 prep Thursday. He'll have two more practices to prove his health ahead of Monday's visit to Kansas City. If he's available, Engram could see more work than usual due to the banged-up nature of the Giants' skill positions. WRs Kenny Golladay (knee) and Kadarius Toney (ankle) and RB Saquon Barkley (ankle) didn't practice Thursday, while WR Sterling Shepard (hamstring) and TE Kaden Smith (knee) were limited like Engram.
Oct 28, 2021
Spotted at practice Thursday
Engram (undisclosed) practiced Thursday, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The tight end didn't take the practice field Wednesday, so his participation in Thursday's session suggests that he's trending in the right direction in advance of Monday night's game against Kansas City. The Giants' upcoming injury report will reveal Engram's participation level, but he'll presumably need to practice fully by the end of the week in order to avoid a Week 8 injury designation.
Oct 27, 2021
Absent from practice Wednesday
Engram (undisclosed) is not participating in Wednesday's practice, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports.
ANALYSIS
Engram is inside team facilities with the training staff to begin Wednesday's session, so it would appear that he's dealing with an undisclosed injury. With the likes of Saquon Barkley (ankle), Kenny Golladay (knee) and Sterling Shepard (hamstring) all having missed time recently, Engram has logged four straight games with at least three catches. The tight end will benefit from a bit of extra time to get healthy before Monday's road matchup against the Chiefs.
Oct 24, 2021
Tallies six receptions
Engram recorded six receptions on eight targets for 44 yards in Sunday's 25-3 win over the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
Engram led the team with six receptions, as he benefited from the absence of Kenny Golladay (knee), Sterling Shepard (hamstring) and Kadarius Toney (ankle). He worked primarily in the short areas of the field but did manage an 18-yard gain late in the first quarter to push the Giants deep into Carolina territory. Engram now has at least three receptions in each of his last four games, though his ability to rack up targets will be hurt as the team's receiving corps gets healthier.
Oct 24, 2021
Suiting up Week 7
Engram (calf) is active for Sunday's game against the Panthers, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Engram has been hindered by a calf injury all season, but after sitting out Weeks 1 and 2, he's suited up for each of the last four contests. His production has been less than inspiring -- 14 catches (on 21 targets) for 127 yards and no TDs -- but he should be a key part of the game plan in a skill-position group without Saquon Barkley (ankle), Kenny Golladay (knee), Sterling Shepard (hamstring) and Kadarius Toney (ankle). Engram's key competition for looks will come in the form of Darius Slayton (hamstring), Dante Pettis, John Ross (hamstring) and fellow tight end Kyle Rudolph.
Oct 24, 2021
Expected to play Sunday
Engram (calf), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Panthers, is expected to play, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Engram got back on the practice field Friday after missing Thursday's practice, which also suggests he'll be able to play. That being said, fantasy managers will still need to double check Engram's status prior to Sunday's 1 p.m. ET kickoff.
Oct 22, 2021
Questionable against Carolina
Engram (calf) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Panthers, Zack Rosenblatt of NJ Advance Media reports.
ANALYSIS
Engram got back on the practice field Friday after missing Thursday's practice, which is a good sign for his potential availability, but fantasy managers will still need to double-check his status prior to kickoff Sunday. Kyle Rudolph would climb to the top of the Giants' tight end depth chart if Engram can't go, but there's little reason to expect him to make much of the opportunity considering Rudolph was a non-factor during Engram's two-game absence to begin the season.
Oct 22, 2021
Returning to practice Friday
Coach Joe Judge said Engram (calf) will practice Friday, Zack Rosenblatt of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.
ANALYSIS
Engram was unable to practice Thursday due to the calf injury, but he'll return to the field a day later. The 27-year-old should have a chance to suit up this weekend against Carolina, even if he only ends up practicing in a limited fashion Friday.
Oct 21, 2021
Joins team's growing injury list
Engram was listed as a non-participant in Thursday's practice due to a calf injury, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Along with Engram, Sterling Shepard (hamstring) was a new addition to Thursday's injury report, meaning that the team's top tight end, top running back and top four receivers were either non-participants or limited participants in the Giants' penultimate practice of the week. While Engram's lack of reps Thursday is clearing a discouraging sign for his chances of playing Sunday against the Panthers, he would be able to quell at least some of the concerns about his availability by returning to the field Friday as a limited or full participant. If Engram can't play Week 7, Kyle Rudolph would likely step in as the Giants' starting tight end.
Oct 17, 2021
Disappointing production Sunday
Engram secured three of five targets for 24 yards in the Giants' 38-11 loss to the Rams on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Despite the Giants being down multiple receivers and Saquon Barkley (ankle), Engram failed to make any notable impact and drew a disappointingly low number of targets. The 27-year-old has now seen his catch total fall below that of the previous game in each of the last two contests, a trend he'll hope to reverse versus the Panthers at home in Week 7.
Oct 3, 2021
Five catches against Saints
Engram caught five of six targets for 27 yards and rushed once for minus-3 yards in Sunday's 27-21 overtime win over New Orleans.
ANALYSIS
Engram tied with Saquon Barkley for third on the team in targets but struggled to get open downfield, with the tight end's longest gain going for just eight yards. Given his persistent struggles with drops and lack of explosiveness since returning from a calf injury, Engram will be tough to trust against the Cowboys in Week 5.
Sep 26, 2021
Loses fumble in debut
Engram caught two of six targets for 21 yards and lost a fumble in Sunday's 17-14 loss to the Falcons.
ANALYSIS
Engram made his season debut after previously being sidelined with a calf issue. The tight end made a couple of grabs, but Engram otherwise wasn't very effective, even on a day when starting wideouts Darius Slayton and Sterling Shepard both suffered hamstring injuries. To make matters worse, Engram coughed the ball up in the second quarter, starting his season on a sour note. The veteran will aim for improvement in Week 4 versus the Saints.
Sep 26, 2021
Making season debut
Engram (calf) is active for Sunday's game against the Falcons, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Engram's season debut was delayed due to a calf injury that he sustained in the Giants' exhibition finale on Aug. 29. He didn't even make it back to the practice field until Monday, but he already was the first tight end in drills as of Wednesday before putting together three limited sessions in a row. On Friday, Engram told Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com that he put together a "great" week of preparation, and he'll indeed ditch his designation Sunday for the first time during the current campaign. With Kenny Golladay (hip) gaining clearance to play through his own health concern, Daniel Jones will be operating with his entire offensive arsenal.
Sep 26, 2021
Looking good to play
Engram (calf) is expected to make his 2021 debut Sunday afternoon against the Falcons, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The tight end never quite progressed to full participation, but he did say Friday that he'd had a "great" week of practice and should be ready for the game on Sunday. With Engram out of the lineup the past two weeks, Kyle Rudolph handled 74 percent snap share and seven targets, while Kaden Smith got 47 percent share and two looks. Engram is officially listed as questionable this week, though he can probably be viewed as 'probable' at this point.
Sep 24, 2021
Deemed questionable, but optimistic
Engram (calf) believes he's ready to return for Sunday's game against Atlanta, but the Giants have him listed as questionable on the final injury report, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Engram said a "great" week of practice has him ready for his season debut, though the Giants listed him as a limited participant Wednesday through Friday. He does seem more likely than not to play, albeit in a potential timeshare now that the Giants have Kyle Rudolph, who has seven targets and 74 percent snap share through two weeks. The team even has a competent No. 3 TE in Kaden Smith, though his role (47 percent of snaps) is on even thinner ice than Rudolph's once Engram is back in the mix. It remains to be seen if that will happen this Sunday, with the Giants releasing their inactive list approximately 90 minutes before the 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff. WR Kenny Golladay (hip) is the other prominent player listed as questionable, while RB Saquon Barkley and WR Kadarius Toney don't have injury designations for the game.
Sep 24, 2021
Looking good at practice
Engram (calf) is practicing again Friday and seems to be on track for Sunday's game against Atlanta, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Given that he missed the first two games of the season, Engram likely will be listed as questionable even if the Giants expect him to play. It's still too soon to count on that outcome, considering Engram remained limited at practice Wednesday and Thursday. An upgrade to full participation Friday would create far more confidence about his status for Sunday, with Engram hoping to rejoin the lineup in time for a favorable matchup against a Falcons defense that's given up eight passing TDs already.
Sep 23, 2021
Limited again at practice
Engram (calf) was limited at practice Thursday, Zack Rosenblatt of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.
ANALYSIS
Engram has ramped up his activity level this week as he prepares for his potential season debut, logging capped sessions to date. He even served as the No. 1 tight end during drills Wednesday, implying the Giants are getting close to clearing him for game action. Friday's injury report could give some insight into whether Engram's return to play is near.
Sep 22, 2021
Officially limited Wednesday
Engram (calf) was a limited practice participant Wednesday, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports.
ANALYSIS
Engram got back on the practice field this week, managing showings both Monday and Wednesday. In the first session, he was the second tight end in drills, while he bumped up to No. 1 in the second one, per Tom Rock of Newsday. Clearly, Engram is trending in the right direction to make his season debut Sunday against the Falcons, but there's a chance a decision on his availability comes down to the wire.
Sep 22, 2021
Another showing at practice
Engram (calf) took part in practice Wednesday, Tom Rock of Newsday reports.
ANALYSIS
Since missing his second game in a row to begin the campaign last Thursday, Engram has been a participant in back-to-back sessions. On Monday, he was the second tight end in drills, while he bumped up to his typical No. 1 spot Wednesday. If the preceding is any indication, he's setting himself up for his season debut Sunday against the Falcons. But Engram likely will have to get through Week 3 prep unscathed to do so.
Sep 20, 2021
Practicing Monday
Engram (calf) is participating in drills Monday, Paul Schwartz of the New York Post reports.
ANALYSIS
The Giants aren't hosting a full padded practice Monday, but it's nonetheless encouraging to see Engram handling drills after he was listed as a non-participant in every practice during the first two weeks of the season. The tight end will work to continue ramping up his workload, with a possible eye toward making his season debut versus the Falcons in Week 3.
Sep 15, 2021
Ruled out for TNF
Engram (calf) has been ruled out for Thursday's game at Washington, Zack Rosenblatt of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.
ANALYSIS
Engram has been a non-participant in every practice through two weeks, and he's no lock to be ready when the Giants start preparing for their Week 3 game against the Falcons on Sept. 26. With Engram out of the lineup Week 1, replacement starter Kaden Smith went without a target on 48 percent snap share, while Kyle Rudolph technically came off the bench but finished with five targets and 77 percent of snaps.
Sep 14, 2021
Still missing from practice
Engram (calf) remained on the sidelines for Tuesday's walkthrough practice session, Zack Rosenblatt of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.
ANALYSIS
Engram has logged a pair of DNPs to open Week 2, which doesn't bode well for his chances of making the quick turnaround to suit up for Thursday's clash with Washington. He still has one more chance to get in some work Wednesday before a determination of his status for the game should surace.
Sep 13, 2021
Non-participant Monday
Engram (calf) was listed as a non-participant on Monday's practice estimate, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The Giants just held a walkthrough Monday, but Engram would not have been able to participate had they held a practice. With a short turnaround before Thursday's game against Washington, Engram looks likely to miss a second consecutive contest to open the season, though he's yet to be ruled out at this point.
Sep 10, 2021
Out for Week 1
Engram (calf) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against Denver, Zack Rosenblatt of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.
ANALYSIS
With no practice participation this week, Engram seems unlikely to make it back for a Thursday game against Washington in Week 2. There is some good news for the G-Men, however, with fellow tight ends Kyle Rudolph (foot) and Kaden Smith (knee) both cleared to play Sunday. They're the only healthy tight ends on the roster, but New York does carry two fullbacks (Elijhaa Penny, Cullen Gillaspia) and also has a first-round pick (Kadarius Toney) in the No. 4 WR role.
Sep 10, 2021
Works in individual drills
Engram (calf) participated in individual drills during Friday's practice, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports.
ANALYSIS
At this stage, it's generally expected that Engram won't be available for Week 1 action, but it's possible that he could progress enough in the coming days to have a chance to suit up for the Giants' second game, next Thursday against Washington.
Sep 9, 2021
Idle for another practice
Engram (calf) didn't participate in Thursday's practice, Tom Rock of Newsday reports.
ANALYSIS
For the second day in a row, Engram was relegated to working out on a side field and didn't mix into team drills. Giants head coach Joe Judge has yet to make an official call on Engram's status for Sunday's season opener versus the Broncos, but the tight end looks to be trending toward sitting out Week 1. Kyle Rudolph, who is managing a foot injury of his own but is expected to play Sunday, looks poised to handle the bulk of the tight-end reps sans Engram.
Sep 8, 2021
No practice Wednesday
Engram (calf) didn't practice Wednesday, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
At Monday's session, there was a glimmer of hope that Engram was taking a step in the right direction by catching passes in pads. But his calf issue contained him to a side field with the Giants' training staff Wednesday, giving him just two more practices to prove his health. If Engram is unable to go Sunday against the Broncos, Kyle Rudolph (foot, limited) and Kaden Smith (knee, limited) are the prime candidates to cover for him at tight end.
Sep 8, 2021
Won't practice Wednesday
Engram (calf) isn't in line to practice Wednesday, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports.
ANALYSIS
The report adds that the tight end will work with the Giants' training staff while his teammates practice Wednesday, and then his status will be revisited Thursday. At this point, Engram looks iffy, at best, for Sunday's season opener against the Broncos.
Sep 6, 2021
Some activity Monday
Engram (calf) was in pads and caught passes prior to Monday's practice, Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post reports.
ANALYSIS
That's not to say Engram actually will participate in the session, but it's a good sign that he's making progress through the left calf injury that he suffered in the Giants' exhibition finale on Aug. 29. Still, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported earlier Monday that Engram has a slim chance to suit up for Week 1 against the Broncos, so his status throughout preparation for that game in the coming days will be worthwhile to monitor. If Engram is unable to give it a go Sunday, New York may have to rely on Kyle Rudolph (foot) and Kaden Smith at tight end in the opener.
Sep 6, 2021
Unlikely to play Week 1
Engram (calf) is a long shot to play in Sunday's season opener against Denver, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
ANALYSIS
The Giants aren't quite ready to rule Engram out but seem to be preparing for a Week 1 absence after he injured his calf in the final preseason game. Kyle Rudolph (foot) and Kaden Smith are the other tight ends on New York's 53-man roster, with the former also uncertain for Week 1 as he works his way back from offseason foot surgery. It stands to reason that the team will lean on three-wide formations out of the gate, though the Rudolph acquisition this offseason hinted at a desire to use more multi-TE sets.
Sep 3, 2021
Not doing much at practice
Engram (calf) hasn't done much on the practice field this week, Dan Duggan of The Athletic.
ANALYSIS
Duggan adds that Engram was having a good summer prior to injuring his calf in the final preseason game. The tight end has been a repeated disappointment for both fantasy managers and the Giants, but he just turned 27 and stills ranks among the league's fastest players at his position. That said, he'll likely lose a bunch of last year's snaps to Kyle Rudolph, who also looks questionable for Week 1 in the aftermath of offseason foot surgery. Engram wore full pads for Thursday's practice, but he was then limited to side work with the training staff, according to Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record. Giants coach Joe Judge called it a "down day" for the tight end, noting that Engram likely will be held out through the weekend at the very least, per John Fennelly of Yahoo. The team will release its first injury report Wednesday, ahead of next Sunday's opener against the Broncos at the Meadowlands.
Aug 31, 2021
Uncertain for Week 1
Coach Joe Judge acknowledged Tuesday that he isn't sure if Engram (calf) will be ready for Week 1, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
judge used the team "gray area" when discussing Engram and his recent calf injury, noting that the Giants will need to see how the tight end progresses later this week. For the time being, Engram and Kyle Rudolph (calf) both look shaky for Week 1 against Denver, potentially leaving Kaden Smith as the starting tight end. Engram hurt his calf during Sunday's preseason loss to the Patriots, exiting in the first half after catching two of three targets for 22 yards.
Aug 30, 2021
Set for tests on calf injury
Engram is undergoing tests to determine the severity of his calf injury, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
With just under two weeks left until the Giants' season-opener, the timing of the tight end's injury is problematic. If his Week 1 status ends up being in question, Kaden Smith could see his profile in the team's offense expand, given that Kyle Rudolph is currently dealing with a foot issue that clouds his status heading into the coming campaign.
Aug 29, 2021
Suffers calf injury
Engram won't return to Sunday's preseason game versus the Patriots due to a calf injury, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Engram was evaluated by the Giants' training staff on the sideline before favoring his left leg as he was escorted to the locker room. Prior to his exit Sunday, he gathered in all three of his targets for 22 yards. Engram will have exactly two weeks to heal up in advance of the team's season opener Sunday, Sept. 9 against the Broncos.
Aug 27, 2021
Back at practice
Engram (undisclosed) returned to practice Friday, Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports.
ANALYSIS
Engram had worked on the side with the Giants' training staff during Thursday's joint practice with the Patriots, but the tight end's return to the field Friday suggests that he has a chance to see action in the team's preseason finale Sunday against New England. Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com previously noted that the Giants' healthy starters would play at least a half versus the Patriots, but it's possible that Engram could potentially be held out for precautionary reasons, given his recent on-field limitations.
Aug 26, 2021
Dealing with minor injury
Engram worked with the training staff during Thursday's joint practice with the Patriots, Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports.
ANALYSIS
He's seemingly bothered by a minor injury, with a limited practice Wednesday and now an absence Thursday morning. The Giants reportedly planned to play Engram for at least the first half of Sunday's preseason finale against New England, but it's no longer clear the tight end will be able to play. Engram otherwise has been healthy this summer, yet was held out of the Giants' first two preseason games.
Aug 22, 2021
To see action in preseason Week 3
Engram is slated to play at least the first half of next Sunday's preseason finale versus the Patriots, Paul Schwartz of the New York Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Kept out of the Giants' first two exhibitions to date, Engram now is poised to get some in-game reps before the regular season. He'll be doing so with Daniel Jones, Sterling Shepard and Darius Slayton, but it remains to be seen if Saquon Barkley (knee) and Kenny Golladay (hamstring) will do enough this week to be given the all-clear by the team.
Mar 17, 2021
Gets salary guarantee
Engram's $6.01 million salary for 2021 is now fully guaranteed, Zack Rosenblatt of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.
ANALYSIS
Engram will be working under a fifth-year option, which was guaranteed for injury only until the start of the league year at 4 p.m. ET on Wednesday. He's still one of the fastest tight ends in the league, but between injuries, drops and poor blocking, Engram hasn't lived up to his first-round billing. The Giants could eventually give TE Kaden Smith more snaps if Engram's 2020 woes carry over to 2021.
Jan 3, 2021
Quiet in win over Cowboys
Engram caught two of his four targets for 17 yards during Sunday's 23-19 win over the Cowboys.
ANALYSIS
Engram tied for second on the team in targets, though his four looks were well behind team-leader Sterling Shepard's 10. He recorded a long gain of 14 yards but managed a short pickup with his other grab and later dropped a pass on what could've been a big play. Engram was held to 35 yards or less in nine of his 16 appearances this season but still finishes with 654 yards, one touchdown and a Pro Bowl nod. Moreover, he could find himself playing in the postseason if the Eagles defeat Washington on Sunday night.
Jan 1, 2021
Fine for Sunday
Engram (calf) isn't on the injury report for Sunday's game against Dallas, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports.
ANALYSIS
Neither is WR Sterling Shepard (rib), but slot man Golden Tate (calf) is listed as doubtful. The Giants' struggling passing game figures to go through Engram, Shepard and Darius Slayton, just as it has all season.
Dec 31, 2020
Another limited practice
Engram (calf) was limited at Thursday's practice, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Engram has made it through a season relatively unscathed for the first time in four years as a pro, but he hurt his left ankle in the fourth quarter of this past Sunday's defeat at Baltimore. So far this week, his practice reps have been capped, but Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com noted Engram seemed to be "more involved" Thursday than he was at Wednesday's session. Friday's practice report will provide a sense of Engram's odds to play Sunday versus the Cowboys.
Dec 30, 2020
Limited Wednesday
Engram (ankle) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Engram was spotted working on the side with trainers Wednesday, per Dan Duggan of The Athletic. The Giants appear optimistic about Engram's chances of suiting up against the Cowboys on Sunday, but it's possible that he could first need to upgrade to practicing in full.
Dec 30, 2020
Set to practice
Engram (ankle) will practice in some capacity Wednesday, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Per the report, coach Joe Judge has expressed a degree of optimism that Engram will be able to play Sunday against the Cowboys, a notion supported by the tight end's presence of the practice field Wednesday.
Dec 28, 2020
Looking iffy for Week 17
Coach Joe Judge said Monday that he's "optimistic" about the health of Engram (ankle), but he noted that the tight end still has to meet with team doctors, Ralph Vacchiano of SportsNet New York reports.
ANALYSIS
Engram injured his left ankle in the fourth quarter of last Sunday's 27-13 loss to Baltimore, hauling in seven of 10 targets for 65 yards before leaving the field. The 26-year-old is just one game away from logging the first full season of his career, but it looks like he can't be considered a lock to suit up for Sunday's upcoming must-win game against the Cowboys. Kaden Smith will work as the Giants' top tight end if Engram can't go.
Dec 27, 2020
Hurt late in loss
Engram (ankle) secured seven of 10 targets for 65 yards during Sunday's 27-13 loss to Baltimore. He went down holding his left ankle late in the fourth quarter, per Madelyn Burke of WFAN.
ANALYSIS
Engram attracted double-digit targets for the fourth time this season, tying his second-greatest receiving output of the campaign with his 65-yard Week 16 performance. He and Sterling Shepard were the clear top targets, and there's reason to believe that trend will continue given Engram's average of 7.6 targets per game over his past five outings. The first-time Pro Bowl tight end did seemingly hurt his ankle in the late stages of Sunday's loss, and that will be a situation to monitor as the Giants progress towards a 2020 regular-season finale against the Cowboys.
Dec 24, 2020
Puts in full practice
Engram (calf) was a full participant in Thursday's practice, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The calf issue limited Engram's participation in Wednesday's practice and throughout the Giants' sessions last week, but his return to full activity Thursday clears the way for the tight end to play Sunday in Baltimore. Engram's 95 targets on the season are good for third among all tight ends this season, but a poor 6.0 yards per target average has diminished some of the value of all those looks he's received.
Dec 23, 2020
Limited Wednesday
Engram (calf) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Engram's calf issue also limited him in practice last week, but he suited up versus the Browns over the weekend without issue. As such, there's no real reason to worry about Engram's status for Week 16 as long as he can continue logging at least limited practices. Golden Tate (calf) was injured at practice Wednesday, so it's possible that there could be additional targets available during Sunday's game against the Ravens.
Dec 22, 2020
Plays 43 snaps
Engram caught four of seven targets for 46 yards Sunday against the Browns.
ANALYSIS
He was nursing a calf injury heading into the game, but it didn't seem to affect his workload. He'll remain involved in the offense, but there's not a ton to go around given the state of quarterback play.
Dec 20, 2020
Playing Sunday, as expected
Engram (calf) is listed as active Sunday versus the Browns, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
As was expected, Engram will be out there after injuring his knee at Friday's practice, which led to a questionable designation for Week 15. Kaden Smith (knee) also is available for when the Giants utilize two-TE sets, but Engram is the pass catcher of the position group. While he has just three games of more than 60 yards this season, Engram draws a Cleveland defense that has conceded the fifth-most touchdowns (nine) to tight ends this season.
Dec 19, 2020
Likely playing Sunday night
Engram (calf) is expected to play Sunday against the Browns, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The Giants needed a bit of good news after it was reported earlier in the day Daniel Jones was unlikely to play in the marquee matchup Sunday night against the Browns. Engram popped up on the injury report late in the week with a calf injury, but the 26-year-old tight end certainly seems to be trending in the right direction to play. Engram is on pace to set career-highs in receptions and receiving yards despite an inefficient season overall.
Dec 18, 2020
Late addition to injury report
Engram (calf) was added to the Giants' injury report Friday, listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Cleveland, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports.
ANALYSIS
The timing suggests Engram got hurt during practice Thursday or Friday, leaving his availability in question for the Sunday night matchup with Cleveland. Giants QB Daniel Jones (hamstring/ankle) and backup TE Kaden Smith (knee) also are listed as questionable, so there are a lot of variable to sort out, and a late kickoff (8:20 ET) won't make things any easier on fantasy managers.
Dec 15, 2020
Modest game against Cardinals
Engram caught two of his four targets for 18 yards against the Cardinals Sunday.
ANALYSIS
The Giants offense was bad generally, and all the pass catchers were dragged down by it. Engram should continue to see regular targets and is capable of making big plays when he's not dropping passes or inadvertently tipping them to defenders.
Dec 6, 2020
Opportunity shrinks
Engram recorded four receptions on eight targets for 32 yards in Week 13 against the Seahawks.
ANALYSIS
Engram led the Giants in targets and yards, but was limited in opportunity given that Colt McCoy attempted only 22 passes. He worked exclusively in short areas of the field, as his longest reception went for 11 yards. Although the team still managed to earn a victory, Engram also had a key error as a pass directed his way deep in Seahawks' territory bounced off his hands and resulted in a turnover. If Daniel Jones (hamstring) remains out for Week 14 against Arizona, Engram and the rest of the Giants' pass-catchers will likely remain unreliable.
Nov 29, 2020
Posts first 100-yard game
Engram caught six of nine targets for 129 yards and lost a fumble during Sunday's 19-17 win over the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
Engram nearly doubled his previous season high in receiving yardage thanks in large part to a season-long 53-yard gain. He also tied his high mark for receptions as he accounted for over half the team's receiving output on the day. The majority of Engram's production came before Daniel Jones (hamstring) suffered an injury and, despite next Sunday's inviting matchup with a porous Seahawks pass defense, his fantasy value could suffer if Colt McCoy starts under center.
Nov 17, 2020
Two catches in divisional win
Engram secured two of his three targets for 15 receiving yards during Sunday's 27-17 win against the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
The receiving corps ruled the roost for New York on Sunday, as Darius Slayton, Sterling Shepard and Golden Tate finished first, second and third on the team in targets, amassing 13 combined receptions for 184 yards. Engram endured a quiet outing after logging five or more catches in each of his preceding three appearances entering Sunday, as he had amassed 16 receptions for 155 yards and a touchdown on a plentiful 29 targets Weeks 7 through 9. Following the Giants' bye, Engram will face a Bengals defense Nov. 29 that has so far surrendered the third-most receiving yards to opposing tight ends on the season (583).
Nov 8, 2020
Nabs first TD of 2020
Engram caught five of his 10 targets for 48 receiving yards and one touchdown during Sunday's 23-20 win against Washington.
ANALYSIS
Engram got out to an inconsistent start to the 2020 campaign, posting an impressive 65-yard outing Week 2 against the Bears, but otherwise recording 35 or fewer receiving yards in five of his first six outings of the year. The fourth-year tight end has been much more consistent with 5.3 catches and 51.7 receiving yards per game over his past three outings, plus he finally broke through with his first TD of 2020 against Washington on Sunday. With it still yet to be determined if Golden Tate will earn his way back into the coach's graces after his disgruntled comments regarding his offensive role last week, Engram may continue to garner a steady target share Week 10 against Philadelphia.
Nov 3, 2020
Bounces back well
Engram caught five of 10 targets for 61 yards in Monday night's 25-23 loss to the Buccaneers. He also rushed once for nine yards.
ANALYSIS
Engram rebounded relatively well from his costly drops in Week 7's defeat. In fact, the tight end made a season-long catch of 30 yards, and earlier came very close to scoring his first receiving touchdown of the campaign. The 26-year-old has now seen at least nine targets in consecutive weeks, helping him post two of his three best yardage totals to date. That uptick in production bodes well ahead of Sunday's game against Washington.
Oct 23, 2020
Key drop in loss
Engram brought in six of nine targets for 46 yards in the Giants' 22-21 loss to the Eagles on Thursday night. He also rushed twice for three yards.
ANALYSIS
The athletic tight end's final numbers were certainly serviceable, as he tied Sterling Shepard (toe) for the team lead in receptions and paced the Giants in targets. However, one of three looks Engram couldn't convert into a catch looms large of this narrow defeat, as his failure to bring in a perfectly thrown pass from Daniel Jones on third down with 2:14 remaining forced New York to punt the ball back to Philadelphia. The Eagles would go on to put together a game-winning drive, marring the fifth-year tight end's second-best statistical performance of the campaign. Engram also remains without a touchdown, so he'll look to atone for that and his ill-timed drop against the Buccaneers in a Week 8 Monday night showdown on Nov. 2.
Oct 18, 2020
Pair of grabs in win
Engram secured two of three targets for 30 yards in the Giants' 20-19 win over the Washington Football Team on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
The athletic tight end continued to underwhelm Sunday, although some of the blame has to be laid at the feet of quarterback Daniel Jones. Engram has logged just five total targets over the last two contests, although he salvaged his fantasy day to an extent in Week 5 with a rushing touchdown. Engram has now posted 35 or fewer receiving yards in four consecutive contests, leaving fantasy managers hoping for a much-needed resurgence in a Week 7 Thursday night battle versus an Eagles team that's been susceptible to tight ends all season.
Oct 11, 2020
Gets into end zone Sunday
Engram caught one of two targets for 16 yards and gained nine rushing yards and a touchdown on two carries in Sunday's 37-34 loss to the Cowboys.
ANALYSIS
The tight end opened the scoring for the Giants midway through the first quarter on a reverse, taking the pitch from Daniel Jones and eluding Everson Griffen for a three-yard score, Engram's first visit to the end zone this season. Unfortunately, he saw little action afterwards. After seeing a season-high 10 targets in last week's loss to the Rams, his lack of activity as a receiver was a disappointment, but Engram will look to earn a more consistent role in Week 6 against Washington.
Oct 4, 2020
Does little with big volume
Engram caught six of 10 targets for 35 yards in Sunday's 17-9 loss to the Rams.
ANALYSIS
He led the Giants in targets on the afternoon as Daniel Jones was forced to get rid of the ball quickly, but Engram wasn't able to do much with the volume. The fourth-year tight end has only 131 receiving yards through four games and has yet to find the end zone, but that could change in Week 5 against a reeling Cowboys defense that's allowed a touchdown to a TE in each of its last three contests.
Sep 27, 2020
Quiet day in loss
Engram secured three of five targets for 22 yards in the Giants' 36-9 loss to the 49ers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Engram's day is accurately encapsulated by his underwhelming stats, which were particularly disappointing on a day when the Giants were missing Saquon Barkley (knee) and Sterling Shepard (toe). The fourth-year tight end was reportedly looking very explosive during training camp after missing the second half of last season with a foot injury, but he's now averaging just 8.7 yards per grab on his 11 receptions through three games. Engram will look to better his numbers across the board versus the Rams in Week 4 road battle.
Sep 20, 2020
Registers 65 yards versus Bears
Engram caught six of eight targets for 65 yards in Sunday's 17-13 loss to the Bears.
ANALYSIS
Engram was targeted just once in the first half, but QB Daniel Jones turned to him when trying to put together a comeback. The fourth-year TE ended up leading the team in receptions, targets and receiving yards. This increase in usage came after Sterling Shepard (toe) and Saquon Barkley (knee) left the game. Barkley may be done for the year with a torn ACL, but Shepard's injury doesn't appear to be as serious. When Shepard returns, the two could battle for targets.
Sep 14, 2020
Dismal in opener
Engram caught two of seven targets for nine yards in Monday night's 26-16 loss to the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Engram dropped his first target, then narrowly missed a wide-open touchdown shortly after, failing to connect with quarterback Daniel Jones from two yards out. The tight end ultimately got in the catch column with a couple grabs late, but it overall was a disappointing season debut. On the bright side, Engram trailed only Saquon Barkley and Darius Slayton in targets, and Week 2's meeting with the Bears could offer a more even matchup, raising hopes for a rebound.
Aug 25, 2020
Showing no sign of injury
Engram has looked "as explosive as ever" during training camp, according to NJ.com's Art Stapleton.
ANALYSIS
Stapleton isn't the only beat writer to take notice of Engram, with Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com confirming that the tight end was the star of Monday's practice. Coach Joe Judge and teammate Sterling Shepard also provided glowing reviews, all but confirming that Engram has shown no ill effects from the Lisfranc injury that ended his 2019 season. He's averaged at least 4.1 catches and 48.1 yards per game in each of his three pro seasons, but the combination of injuries (14 missed games) and disappointing touchdown production (12 TDs, 27 red-zone targets in 34 games) has held Engram back from a true breakout. The Giants seem to think this will be the year when he finally puts it all together.
Aug 10, 2020
Set to practice
Engram is ready for training camp after a "very strong and very aggressive rehab" from surgery to repair a Lisfranc sprain in his left foot, Matt Lombardo of The Newark Star-Ledger reports. "Each and every day I was just trying to find ways to get better," Engram said Monday.
ANALYSIS
Engram has been saddled with injuries during his three-year career, with 2019 serving as the low point. Appearing in just eight games, he still managed to tally 44 catches (on 68 targets) for 467 yards and three touchdowns. Following his December surgery, Engram progressed to on-field work at full speed by June and seemingly is set to participate in practice later this week.
Jul 31, 2020
Could be eased into camp
Engram (foot) has been out on the field doing work, but coach Joe Judge suggested he isn't sure if the tight end will be a full go at the start of training camp, Ralph Vacchiano of SportsNet New York reports.
ANALYSIS
Engram downplayed the severity of his Lisfranc injury back in December after surgery, and he's been doing full-speed agility work since at least last June. Judge's uncertainty about the situation doesn't necessarily mean the tight end will have any limitations, but it will be worth keeping an eye on once the Giants start for practicing for real in mid-August. The Giants chose to keep Engram off the PUP list, making him eligible for all activities.
Jul 29, 2020
Ready for practice
Engram (foot) is healthy for the start of training camp, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports.
ANALYSIS
Engram had Lisfranc surgery in December, but he indicated at the time that he wasn't dealing with a "full-blown tear", and he seems to have avoided the lengthy rehab process we're currently seeing with Eagles wideout Alshon Jeffery. In any case, the Giants picked up the fifth-year option on Engram's rookie contract, keeping him under team control through 2021. He's been a solid fantasy starter throughout his career in terms of per-game production, but injuries limited the tight end to 19 appearances over the past two years.
Jun 29, 2020
Putting in on-field work
Engram (foot) posted a video on his personal instagram Monday of himself working on his footwork in a variety of drills,Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Engram was limited to eight games in 2019 due to a left knee injury and later a Lisfranc injury in his left foot, the latter of which required surgery in mid-December. Without the benefit of on-field workouts this offseason, his recovery was reported to be on pace but wasn't entirely known until Monday's post. In April, the Giants picked up the fifth-year option on Engram's contract, keeping him in New York for the next two seasons. For his career, he's averaged 7.1 YPT and scored 12 touchdowns on his 247 targets.
Apr 29, 2020
Giants pick up fifth-year option
The Giants are picking up Engram's (foot) fifth-year option for 2021.
ANALYSIS
The 25-year-old missed eight games last season and underwent surgery to address the Lisfranc injury in his left foot in December, but it's not a surprise to see the Giants elect to pick up the option for 2021. Engram finished the season with 44 catches for 467 yards and three touchdowns prior to being shut down, and he figures to be one of Daniel Jones' top targets in 2020. Engram was seen running on a treadmill Wednesday as he continues his recovery from the procedure.
Apr 29, 2020
Seen running on treadmill
Engram (foot) was spotted running on a treadmill Wednesday, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports.
ANALYSIS
It's unclear whether Engram is still using his walking boot in non-workouts, but regardless this is a positive progression in Engram's rehab from a late-December Lisfranc surgery to his left foot. The speedy tight end is still waiting word whether his fifth-year option will be picked up, although it seems like all but a foregone conclusion the 2017 first-round pick will be extended given his immense production through three seasons.
Feb 28, 2020
Still using walking boot
Engram (foot) remains in a walking boot and isn't expected to practice until training camp, Ryan Dunleavy of the NY Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Engram had surgery Dec. 20 to address a Lisfranc injury in his left foot, and while he said the ligament wasn't completely torn, he nonetheless faces a lengthy rehab process. The 23rd overall pick from the 2017 draft has averaged 4.5 catches for 51.9 yards and 0.35 touchdowns per game through three seasons, playing in 34 of a possible 48 contests. The Giants have a couple months before they need to decide on a fifth-year option, but it should be an easy enough decision to do so at the expected price of approximately $6 million. Fellow Giants tight end Rhett Ellison (concussion) reportedly is considering retirement, while Kaden Smith could be in the mix for the No. 2 job after he caught 30 of 42 targets for 267 yards and three TDs over the final six weeks of 2019. With a new coaching staff in place, the Giants can start their offseason program as soon as Apr. 6.
Dec 18, 2019
Surgery on tap Friday
Engram will undergo surgery Friday to repair the Lisfranc injury in his left foot, Ralph Vacchiano of SportsNet New York reports.
ANALYSIS
Placed on injured reserve Tuesday, Engram finished his third pro season with 44 catches (on 68 targets) for 467 yards and three touchdowns. Considering the extent of his injury wasn't divulged until Wednesday, it's no surprise he was unable to get back on the field after picking it up Week 9 against the Cowboys. Engram told Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site that he expects to be "more than ready" by training camp, but it remains to be seen whether his activity in the offseason program will be impacted.
Nov 6, 2019
Gets second opinion on foot injury
Engram (foot) is set to receive a second opinion on his injury from foot specialist Dr. Robert Anderson, who will review the results of the MRI the tight end underwent following Monday's 37-18 loss to the Cowboys, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
The fact that the tight end underwent an MRI is new information, as coach Pat Shurmur only noted in his media session Tuesday that Engram was dealing with a "little bit of a sore foot" in the aftermath of the Week 9 game. With Engram sitting out Wednesday's practice, there's reason to believe his injury might be more serious than the Giants initially seemed to let on. Expect Shurmur to provide another update on Engram's situation after practice concludes Wednesday.
Oct 20, 2019
Back in the game Sunday
Engram (undisclosed) returned to Sunday's contest against the Cardinals, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports.
ANALYSIS
Engram was removed for a spell in the fourth quarter after he seemed to get poked in the eye by Cardinals pass rusher Terrell Suggs. No matter, Engram was cleared to reenter the game following an evaluation, which will give him a chance to better his one catch (on four targets) for six yards.
Oct 20, 2019
Leaves Sunday's contest
Engram left Sunday's game against the Cardinals to be evaluated for an injury, Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports.
ANALYSIS
Engram may have been poked in the eye on the fourth-quarter play in question. After his removal from the game, he was in significant discomfort, per Leonard, so Engram may be hard-pressed to return. Rhett Ellison is the next player up at tight end for the Giants.
Oct 18, 2019
Cleared to face Cards
Engram (knee) will play in Sunday's game against the Cardinals, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Engram missed just one game with an MCL sprain, returning to practice as a full participant throughout the week. He'll face a Cardinals defense that's given up a league-high 599 yards and seven touchdowns to tight ends.
Oct 16, 2019
Practices without limitations
Engram (knee) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports.
ANALYSIS
Engram sat out New York's loss to the Patriots in Week 6 due to a sprained MCL in his left knee, and he now appears back to full health. Barring any setbacks, Engram is on track to suit up Sunday versus a Cardinals defense that's consistently struggled to cover the tight end position. Star running back Saquon Barkley (ankle) also practiced in full Wednesday and is trending towards availability Week 7.
Oct 14, 2019
Thinks he'll play Week 7
Engram (knee) said he's "pretty optimistic" that he'll be ready to play Sunday against the Cardinals, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
After spraining the MCL in his left knee in an Oct. 6 loss to the Vikings, Engram was unable to make it back for the Giants' loss to the Patriots on Thursday Night Football in Week 6. With additional time to recover, Engram looks to be in a better place physically to begin Week 7 preparations, as he was able to take part in individual drills during a light practice Monday. The Giants will see what he's able to do in their official practice sessions Wednesday through Friday before making a more definitive ruling on his status for the matchup with Arizona.
Oct 14, 2019
Does individual drills
Engram (knee) is going through individual drills at Monday's practice, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports.
ANALYSIS
Recovering from an MCL sprain, Engram managed just one limited practice last week (Tuesday), ultimately being ruled out on the final injury report for Thursday's loss to the Patriots. His ability to practice in any capacity Monday suggests the tight end has a shot to return for a Week 7 matchup with the Cardinals on Sunday.
Oct 9, 2019
Out for Week 6
Engram (knee) is ruled out for Thursday's game against the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
Engram faced a short week of recovery after sustaining an MCL sprain Week 5 versus the Vikings, so it's not very surprising that he'll miss Thursday's tilt. With Saquon Barkley (ankle), Sterling Shepard (concussion) and Wayne Gallman (concussion) also ruled out, the Giants' offense will be forced to make due without multiple skill-position starters versus New England's formidable defense. Engram will focus his attention on a potential Week 7 return versus Arizona.
Oct 8, 2019
Officially limited Tuesday
Engram (knee) was listed as a limited participant in Tuesday's practice, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Reportedly nursing a MCL sprain of his left knee coming out of Sunday's 28-10 loss to the Vikings, Engram's availability for the Week 6 matchup with the Patriots on Thursday night is in question. The fact that he was able to fit in some on-field work two days ahead of the game can be viewed as a positive sign, though Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com noted that Engram "didn't look great" while running routes early in Tuesday's session. After practice concluded, coach Pat Shurmur didn't offer much assurance that Engram would be ready to go by Thursday, merely stating "we'll see," when asked about the tight end's status for the contest, per Ralph Vacchiano of SportsNet New York.

Completing individual drills
Engram (knee) was present for the Giants' practice Tuesday and was seen running routes and participating in individual drills, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Adam Schefter of ESPN relayed earlier Tuesday that Engram suffered a sprained MCL in his left knee during Sunday's loss to the Vikings, clouding the tight end's availability for a Thursday night matchup with the Patriots in Week 6. The fact that Engram was on the field in some capacity Tuesday offers some more encouragement about his outlook for this week, as does the fact that he was wearing a protective wrap over the knee rather than a brace, per Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com. That said, Raanan noted that Engram "didn't look great" while moving around, and the 25-year-old's activity may not even be enough to constitute limited participation in Tuesday's practice. Another update on Engram should be available when practice concludes, but if he can't go in Week 6, Rhett Ellison would be in store for an enhanced role at tight end.

Looking iffy for Week 6
Engram (knee) is dealing with a sprained MCL and may not be available to play Thursday against the Patriots, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Already down star running back Saquon Barkley (ankle) for a second straight game, the Giants came out of Sunday's 28-10 loss to the Vikings with worrisome injuries to three other skill-position players in Engram, wideout Sterling Shepard (concussion) and tailback Wayne Gallman (concussion). With a quick turnaround for the Week 6 matchup, the Giants look at major risk of being without all four banged-up players, which could significantly hinder rookie signal-caller Daniel Jones in a tough matchup. If Engram is in fact ruled out Thursday, Rhett Ellison -- the Giants' top blocking tight end -- could be pressed into a more pronounced role as a pass catcher.

Dealing with knee injury
Engram was projected to be a non-participant on Monday's injury report, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The Giants have a short week of preparation for Thursday's game against the Patriots and didn't actually practice Monday, but it's still an alarming sign that Engram was estimated as a non-participant. The 25-year-old caught six of 11 targets for 42 yards and played 58 of 69 snaps in Sunday's loss to the Vikings. Engram figures to have a slim chance of playing Thursday unless he can progress to limited participation within the next two days.
