Move to IR official
The Broncos officially placed Dobbins (foot) on injured reserve Saturday, per the NFL's transaction log.
ANALYSIS
There was worry that Dobbins' foot injury would require an IR stint, and while that has come to pass, he's now slated to miss at least the rest of the regular season after undergoing surgery on his foot, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. There's also the potential that Dobbins is healthy by the Super Bowl, if the Broncos happen to advance that far, but for as long as Dobbins is sidelined, rookie RJ Harvey will pace the team's backfield, while Tyler Badie and Jaleel McLaughlin are on hand for complementary roles.

Could be healthy by Super Bowl
Dobbins, who will be placed on injured reserve due to a foot injury, may be ready to return in February if the Broncos advance to Super LX, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Getting all the way to the final game of the 2025 season may be difficult without Dobbins after he suffered a foot injury during a Week 10 win against the Raiders. The nature of the injury reportedly isn't a fracture but is a small ligament tear, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. While Dobbins is slated for surgery, rookie RJ Harvey is poised to lead the Broncos backfield moving forward, with Tyler Badie and Jaleel McLaughlin filling in behind him.

Set for stint on IR
The Broncos are slated to placed Dobbins on injured reserve, as the running back needs foot surgery that may end his season, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins' 2025 campaign now is in peril due to the hip-drop tackle that he endured during Denver's Week 10 win against the Raiders. The team has yet to make the move to IR official, but if he indeed is out for the rest of the campaign, he'll finish it with 153 carries for 772 yards and four touchdowns and 11 catches (on 14 targets) for 37 yards. RJ Harvey is poised to lead the Broncos backfield for the foreseeable future.
Nov 14, 2025
Out Sunday, and possibly longer
Dobbins, who has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Chiefs, is believed to be sidelined for the foreseeable future due to a significant foot injury, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Rapoport, Dobbins is still working through his options, and while there's been no final determination, IR remains a possibility for the running back. In his looming absence, 2025 second-rounder RJ Harvey is poised to lead Denver's backfield, with Tyler Badie and Jaleel McLaughlin slated to work behind him in complementary roles.
Nov 14, 2025
Still not practicing
Dobbins (foot) remained sidelined at practice Friday, Chris Tomasson of The Denver Gazette reports.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins hasn't practiced this week and is trending toward being ruled out later Friday, per Tomasson. If that ends up being the case, 2025 second-rounder RJ Harvey would be in line to lead Denver's backfield Sunday against the Chiefs, with Tyler Badie and Jaleel McLaughlin available to work in complementary roles.
Nov 13, 2025
Another DNP on Thursday
Dobbins (foot) didn't practice Thursday, Zac Stevens of DNVR Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins has been a non-participant in Denver's first two practices of Week 11 preparations, and he's unlikely to suit up Sunday against the Chiefs considering Chris Tomasson of The Denver Gazette reported Tuesday that Dobbins could be in line for a multi-week absence. If Dobbins is indeed ruled out on Friday's injury report, that would pave the way for rookie second-round pick RJ Harvey to take over as Denver's lead back while Tyler Badie and Jaleel McLaughlin play complementary roles.
Nov 12, 2025
Not practicing
Dobbins (foot) didn't practice Wednesday, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Neither player nor team has said much about the injury, but Dobbins' absence comes as no surprise after Chris Tomasson of The Denver Gazette reported that the running back is a candidate for injured reserve. Dobbins was injured during the second half o a 10-7 win over the Raiders last Thursday, leaving RJ Harvey and Tyler Badie as Denver's healthy RBs. Jaleel McLaughlin could also have a role this Sunday against the Chiefs if Dobbins isn't available.
Nov 11, 2025
Could land on IR
The Broncos are viewing Dobbins as a potential candidate for injured reserve after he sustained a left foot injury in Thursday's 10-7 win over the Raiders, Chris Tomasson of The Denver Gazette reports.
ANALYSIS
According to Tomasson, the Broncos are still complementing the next steps for Dobbins, who was recently sent in for a second medical opinion on the injury he suffered on an apparent hip-drop tackle in the third quarter of the Week 10 win. Though the Broncos have a longer turnaround than normal in advance of Sunday's game against the Chiefs, Dobbins looks to be at significant risk of being sidelined for the first time all season. Until the Broncos solidify an estimated timeline for Dobbins' return from the injury, any decision on a potential IR stint for the running back will be put on hold. Rookie RJ Harvey is the next man up for touches and snaps out of the Denver backfield and should be considered worthy of at least a cursory pickup in shallower leagues where he's still available while Dobbins' status is muddled.

Injures foot in Week 10
Dobbins suffered a foot injury during Thursday's 10-7 win against the Raiders and is getting a second opinion, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins left the field after an apparent hip-drop tackle at the end of a two-yard run in the middle of the third quarter and missed the next three drives before returning late in the fourth quarter to help seal the victory with six more carries to run out the clock. Overall, he had 18 rushes for 77 yards and caught his only target for seven yards, while No. RB RJ Harvey combined for six touches for 18 total yards. The Broncos don't play again until Sunday, Nov. 16 versus the Chiefs, so a diagnosis and potential prognosis should be known well before that point.
Nov 7, 2025
Productive in low-scoring win
Dobbins rushed 18 times for 77 yards and brought in his only target for seven yards in the Broncos' 10-7 win over the Raiders on Thursday night.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins put together a solid showing in the divisional clash, despite the fact he appeared to miss some time while being looked at by trainers on the sideline at one point. The veteran back was in on Denver's final drive and gained 12 yards on his final two carries to seal the victory, so there doesn't appear to be any injury concerns for Dobbins coming out of the contest. Dobbins has exceeded 60 rushing yards in four consecutive games and nine of his 10 contests overall, and he should once again play a significant role when the Broncos host the Chiefs for a Week 11 divisional showdown on Sunday, Nov. 16.
Nov 2, 2025
Leading rusher in win
Dobbins carried the ball 15 times for 61 yards and caught his only target for minus-2 yards in Sunday's 18-15 win over the Texans.
ANALYSIS
The veteran back led the Broncos in rushing on the afternoon, but once again he saw rookie RJ Harvey deliver a big play, this time a 27-yard TD reception from Bo Nix early in the fourth quarter that sparked a comeback. Dobbins has gone four straight games without a score of his own, putting a cap on his fantasy value, but he's still produced 695 rushing yards and four touchdowns through his first nine games with Denver. Dobbins should be busy again in Week 10 against the Raiders.
Oct 26, 2025
Rushes for over 100 yards in win
Dobbins took 15 carries for 111 yards and caught both of his targets for 10 yards in Sunday's 44-24 win over Dallas.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins took full advantage of Dallas' porous rush defense Sunday, rumbling for his second 100-plus yard rushing game this season. Fantasy managers will be annoyed to see rookie backup RJ Harvey gobble up three touchdowns on just eight total touches, as even just one of those scores going to the starter would have elevated his fantasy score from good to great. Touchdown vultures aside, Dobbins has been as steady as they come leading Denver's rushing attack in 2025, maintaining a stellar 5.0 per-carry average through eight starts.
Oct 19, 2025
Efficient on 14 carries
Dobbins took 14 carries for 81 yards while losing one yard on his only reception in Sunday's 33-32 win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins responded well from his worst outing of the season against the Jets last week (14-40-0), averaging 5.8 yards a carry while leading his team in rushing against the Giants. The veteran starter was held out of the end zone in consecutive games for the first time this season, which is the only negative takeaway from Sunday's win. Backup RJ Harvey poached a receiving touchdown on his only reception, but he generated zero rushing yards on four attempts as this backfield continues to belong to Dobbins. The Ohio State product checks in as a safe starting option in fantasy for Week 8 in a soft matchup against the Cowboys next Sunday.
Oct 12, 2025
Stymied by Jets defense
Dobbins carried the ball 14 times for 40 yards and failed to bring in his only target in Sunday's 13-11 win over the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Denver's entire backfield struggled to find running lanes Sunday, with no tailbacks finishing with a per-carry average higher than 3.0 yards in the win. Dobbins still comfortably led the Broncos with 14 rushing attempts, 12 more than rookie backup RJ Harvey. This was easily Dobbins' worst fantasy score of the season after providing managers with five weeks of consistent RB2 production. The veteran starter has an excellent opportunity to get back on track in Week 7 against the Giants, who currently are surrendering 128.8 rushing yards per game thus far this season.
Oct 5, 2025
Grinds out solid effort Sunday
Dobbins rushed 20 times for 79 yards and a touchdown and brought in his only target for five yards in the Broncos' 21-17 win over the Eagles on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins remained the clear lead back, with rookie RJ Harvey logging only four carries. The former toughed out a difficult matchup on the ground, with his long run on the afternoon a modest 17 yards. Dobbins recorded his fourth rushing touchdown in five games on a two-yard run early in the fourth quarter, while his yardage total was his third highest of the campaign and fourth over 75 yards already in 2025. Dobbins has played a minimal role in the passing game so far, but his secure role in the ground attack gives him an appealing fantasy floor heading into a favorable Week 6 matchup in London against the Jets next Sunday.
Sep 29, 2025
Ends drought for new club
Dobbins rushed 16 times for 101 yards and caught his only target for four yards in Monday's 28-3 win over Cincinnati.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins made Swiss cheese of the Bengals defense Monday, averaging 6.3 yards per carry while helping his team dominate the time of possession battle (+15:56). The bruising back also ended a drought dating back to the 2022 season of Denver failing to produce a 100-yard rusher. The only blemish on the 26-year-old's night was the lack of a touchdown, ending the scoring streak he started the season with at three games. Dobbins will face a stiffer test Week 5 when the Broncos visit the Eagles on Sunday, but fantasy managers should start their hot asset regardless.
Sep 21, 2025
Rumbles for 83 yards plus TD
Dobbins carried the ball 11 times for 83 yards and a touchdown while catching one pass for no gain in Sunday's 23-20 loss to the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
While his new team couldn't secure the victory, Dobbins was able to have a strong game against his former club. The bruising tailback accrued nearly all of his production on an impressive three-play drive to open the second half, where he took three consecutive carries for 66 yards all the way to the end zone. Dobbins finished the contest with nine more rushing attempts than backup RJ Harvey, cementing his status as Denver's No. 1 option out of the backfield. The 26-year-old Dobbins will attempt to extend his current scoring streak to four games when the Broncos host the Bengals on Monday Night Football in Week 4.
Sep 14, 2025
Dominates backfield touches
Dobbins rushed the ball 14 times for 76 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 29-28 loss to the Colts. He added one reception on two targets for nine yards.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins continued to work clearly as the top back in Denver, tallying 15 touches compared to six for RJ Harvey. Dobbins was also the more effective back, highlighted by long runs of 23 and 18 yards. The primary negative to his performance came near the goal line, as he was stuffed from the one-yard line on two separate drives before finally scoring from five yards away early in the third quarter. While those were lost opportunities for Dobbins, he has found the end zone in each of Denver's first two games while combining to rush for 138 yards.
Sep 7, 2025
Works ahead of Harvey
Dobbins rushed the ball 16 times for 63 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 20-12 win over the Titans.
ANALYSIS
Denver's backfield was one of the more interesting to monitor in Week 1, and Dobbins ultimately out-touched R.J. Harvey 18-7. Dobbins was largely held in check by the Titans' defense, though he did manage 12 carries for 51 yards in the second half -- highlighted by a 19-yard touchdown scamper midway through the fourth quarter to secure victory for the Broncos. Positive game script likely tilted usage in Dobbins' direction, but he looks to be the lead back by at least a small margin for the time being.
Aug 10, 2025
One touch in preseason opener
Dobbins did not log a rush attempt and brought in his only target for four yards in the Broncos' 30-9 preseason win over the 49ers on Saturday night.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins' only touch of the night came on Denver's first possession, one play after his first target of the night fell incomplete but was wiped off the books by an illegal use of hands penalty against San Francisco. Dobbins was the only one of the top four backs on Denver's depth chart not to log a carry -- RJ Harvey, Audric Estime and Jaleel McLaughlin combined for 18 rush attempts -- but the veteran is almost certain to open the campaign in a prominent role and could certainly see more action in Denver's second preseason contest next Saturday night at home against the Cardinals.

Comfortable in Payton's offense
Broncos coach Sean Payton said Monday that Dobbins has made a swift transition into Denver's offense, Nick Kosmider of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Payton noted the importance of Dobbins signing in June, rather than right on the eve of training camp. He had six weeks to get up to speed before camp and reportedly took most of the first-team reps during the first few practices (per Jon Heath of Broncos Wire). Dobbins and second-round pick RJ Harvey now figure to compete for the lead role, possibly battling into the season, while the likes of Audric Estime, Jaleel McLaughlin, Tyler Badie and Blake Watson are fighting to hang on to roster spots. Dobbins' experience and passing-down skills could keep him in a significant role even if Harvey impresses early on.

Signing one-year deal with Broncos
Dobbins agreed to terms Tuesday on a one-year, $5.25 million contract with Denver, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins racked up a career-high 1,058 scrimmage yards and nine total touchdowns across 13 regular-season appearances with the Chargers in 2024, and he now joins rookie RJ Harvey atop the depth chart of the Broncos' revamped backfield. An MCL sprain forced Dobbins to miss four games during his one-year stint with Los Angeles, but after missing 2021 due to a multi-ligament knee injury, having the same issue linger into 2022 and require surgery, and then suffering a torn Achilles' tendon Week 1 of 2023, for Dobbins to average 4.6 YPC and play 13 games represents one of the most remarkable comeback seasons in recent memory. Both Dobbins and Harvey project as valuable fantasy contributors in coach Sean Payton's offense, which averaged the 10th most points per game (25.0) in the NFL last season and could make a sizeable leap with Bo Nix entering Year 2.

Visit with Broncos on deck
The Broncos are hosting Dobbins for a two-day visit Wednesday and Thursday, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Denver's coaching staff seems to be expressing serious interest in Dobbins, who received an unrestricted free-agent tender from the Chargers in April after racking up a career-best 194 carries for 905 yards (4.6 YPC) and nine scores across 13 regular-season games in 2024. The Broncos selected RJ Harvey in the second round of April's draft, providing the team with a potential starter boasting 4.4 speed, though at 5-foot-8, 205 pounds, the team could have some concerns about the UCF product's ability to hold up to workhorse volume at the NFL level. Dobbins has durability concerns of his own due to his injury history, but Broncos coach Sean Payton has deployed a running back tandem to great success in the past, and Dobbins' rushing style could make him a fitting complement to Harvey.
Apr 29, 2025
Receives UFA tender
The Chargers applied the unrestricted free-agent tender to Dobbins on Tuesday, Howard Balzer of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Los Angeles' application of the scarcely-used UFA tender means that Dobbins will will count toward the NFL compensatory draft pick formula if he signs with another club prior to July 21 or the first scheduled day of training camp, whichever is the later date. If Dobbins doesn't ink elsewhere before that deadline, the Chargers will receive exclusive negotiating rights with him. The 26-year-old impressed with a 195-905-9 rushing line across 13 healthy regular-season appearances in 2024, but the Bolts have since invested a first-round pick in rookie Omarion Hampton and signed Najee Harris to a one-year contract.
Jan 11, 2025
Forgettable playoff start
Dobbins (ankle) took nine carries for 26 yards and failed to bring in his lone target in Saturday's 32-12 playoff loss to the Texans.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins carried a questionable tag into Saturday's wild-card round matchup, but he did not appear limited after leading a dismal rushing attack with nine touches. Veteran backup and longtime teammate, Gus Edwards, struggled similarly (7-22-0) as the starting duo failed to set the tone against a stout Houston defensive front. The 26-year-old Dobbins is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent this upcoming offseason after producing a 195-905-9 rushing line in 13 healthy games for Los Angeles in 2024.
Jan 11, 2025
Suiting up for playoff opener
Dobbins (ankle) is listed as active for Saturday's wild-card game at Houston.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins was a limited practice participant all week due to an ankle injury, which seemingly was the result of getting tackled awkwardly near the end of the first quarter last Sunday In Las Vegas, per Daniel Popper of The Athletic. The running back was able to finish out the contest en route to 21 touches for 75 yards from scrimmage on a 65 percent snap share with position mate Gus Edwards (ankle) sidelined. Edwards himself followed an LP/LP/FP practice regimen this week before heading into the weekend without a designation. With Dobbins confirmed to be available as well, the pair likely will have close to an even split of the backfield reps in the Chargers' playoff opener.
Jan 11, 2025
Likely playing Saturday
Dobbins (ankle), who is listed as questionable for Saturday's contest against the Texans, is expected to play, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
It would have been a real surprise if Dobbins would have been unavailable for Los Angeles' playoff game, but it appears that reality won't come to fruition. Expect the team to officially confirm Dobbins' availability well before the 4:30 p.m. ET kickoff.
Jan 9, 2025
Questionable for Saturday
Dobbins is listed as questionable for Saturday's wild-card round game against the Texans.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins was deemed questionable by the Chargers after being listed as a limited practice participant Tuesday through Thursday. Meanwhile, fellow running back Gus Edwards (ankle) -- who has missed two straight games -- doesn't carry an injury designation after practicing fully Thursday. Look for added context regarding Dobbins' status to arrive closer to Saturday's 4:30 p.m. ET kickoff, but if he's limited or out versus Houston, then Edwards would be in line to see added work on early downs, with Hassan Haskins and Kimani Vidal also in the mix. Additionally, the Chargers could elect to elevate either Ezekiel Elliott or Jaret Patterson from their practice squad.
Jan 8, 2025
Another limited practice
Dobbins (ankle) remained limited at practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
The same applies to Gus Edwards (ankle), giving both running backs one more chance to practice fully ahead of Saturday's wild-card round game against the Texans. If one or both are limited or out this weekend, added snaps would be available for Hassan Haskins and Kimani Vidal, with Ezekiel Elliott and Jaret Patterson representing potential practice squad elevations.
Jan 7, 2025
Limited by ankle injury Tuesday
Dobbins was a limited participant in Tuesday's practice due to an ankle injury.
ANALYSIS
Though the Chargers never announced that Dobbins emerged from this past Sunday's 34-20 win over the Raiders with an injury, Daniel Popper of The Athletic relays that the running back appeared to hurt his leg at the end of a run late in the first quarter, and he was sporting a protective sleeve following the game. Dobbins' appearance on this week's injury report suggests that it was his ankle that he tweaked on the play in question, but his ability to practice in at least a limited fashion Tuesday bodes well for his chances of playing in Saturday's wild-card game in Houston.
Jan 5, 2025
Totals 21 touches
Dobbins rushed the ball 18 times for 63 yards in Sunday's 34-20 win over the Raiders. He added three receptions on three targets for 12 yards.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins dominated touches out of the Los Angeles backfield while the game was competitive as Gus Edwards (ankle) remained sidelined. Dobbins had moments of effectiveness despite averaging just 3.5 yards per carry, as he accounted for 30 total yards on five touches on an offensive possession early in the second quarter that resulted in a field goal. He closes the regular season with career-high marks in attempts (195) and rushing yards (905) and projects to at least split work with Edwards in Saturday's wild-card matchup against the Texans.
Jan 3, 2025
May remain top RB on Sunday
Dobbins may be the Chargers' lead running back Sunday at Las Vegas with Gus Edwards (ankle) ruled out for that contest.
ANALYSIS
Following a four-game stint on IR due to a knee injury, Dobbins returned to action this past Saturday at New England to a backfield that also didn't have Edwards' services. Dobbins handled a 53 percent snap share and turned 21 touches into 83 yards from scrimmage and one rushing TD, while reserves Hassan Haskins (35 percent, 9-40-0) and Kimani Vidal (11 percent, 5-24-0) also got in the mix. It's possible Dobbins takes on closer to the roughly 70 percent of snaps he handled prior to getting injured Week 12, in which case he'd be closer to a workhorse. Having said that, if the Steelers beat the Bengals on Saturday, the Chargers would be locked into the No. 6 seed in the AFC and could opt to scale back Dobbins' workload with his health for the postseason in mind.
Dec 28, 2024
Finds end zone in return
Dobbins ran for 76 yards and one touchdown on 19 carries against New England on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
It was a grinding effort for Dobbins as the Patriots clearly made it a priority to stop him, but Dobbins held up well in his first game back from a four-week knee injury. Not just that, but the Patriots paid dearly for focusing on the run, as Justin Herbert torched them for 281 yards and three touchdowns while completing targets to nine different pass catchers. If the Chargers feed Dobbins against the Raiders in Week 18 then he'll be a strong bet to make it two good games in a row.
Dec 28, 2024
Returning to lineup Saturday
Dobbins (knee) is listed as active for Saturday's game against the Patriots, Eric Smith of the Chargers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The return of Dobbins -- who was activated from IR on Friday after having missed four games since the Chargers' Week 12 loss to the Ravens -- arrives at an opportune juncture, with fellow running back Gus Edwards having been ruled out with an ankle issue. Prior to sustaining his knee injury, Dobbins recorded 766 yards and eight touchdowns on 158 carries (4.8 yards per carry) and added 28 catches for 134 yards in 11 contests. In his return to the lineup, the 26-year-old will have an opportunity to reclaim the lead role in a Week 17 Los Angeles backfield that will also include Kimani Vidal and Hassan Haskins. The 9-6 Chargers can clinch a playoff spot with a win Saturday.
Dec 27, 2024
Activated from IR
The Chargers activated Dobbins (knee) from injured reserve Friday.
ANALYSIS
While technically still listed as questionable, Dobbins presumably wouldn't have been activated from IR unless the team intended for him to play in Saturday's game at the Patriots. He may even handle a large workload from the jump, considering fellow Chargers running back Gus Edwards (ankle) has been ruled out. The Chargers listed Dobbins as a full practice participant Thursday, following limited listings Tuesday and Wednesday.
Dec 26, 2024
Could return to action Saturday
The Chargers list Dobbins (knee) as questionable for Saturday's game against the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
Los Angeles has ruled out Gus Edwards (ankle) for Saturday, but Dobbins' potential return would provide a lift to a Chargers backfield that currently has just two healthy options on the 53-man roster (Kimani Vidal and Hassan Haskins). After being designated for return from injured reserve Monday, Dobbins was listed as a limited participant in the Chargers' first two Week 17 practices, which represented his first on-field work since suffering an MCL sprain in his left knee during the team's 30-23 loss to the Ravens on Nov. 25. In order to be eligible to play Saturday, the Chargers would first activate Dobbins from IR ahead of Friday's 4 p.m. ET deadline for Week 17 transactions. If added back to the roster, Dobbins would presumably work as the lead option out of the backfield, while Vidal and Haskins remain in their depth roles.
Dec 25, 2024
Estimated as limited Wednesday
Dobbins (knee) was listed as limited on Wednesday's practice estimate.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins, whose 21-day practice window opened Monday, was also deemed limited Tuesday. Meanwhile, fellow RB Gus Edwards (ankle) has also logged back-to-back limited listings, which sets the stage for Thursday's session to added valuable context with regard to the possible composition of the Chargers' backfield for Saturday's game against the Patriots.
Dec 24, 2024
Practices in limited fashion
Dobbins (knee) was a limited participant in Tuesday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Los Angeles opened Dobbins' 21-day practice window Monday, but it wasn't until Tuesday that the team submitted its first Week 17 practice report. The running back is unsurprisingly operating with a cap on his reps as he works his way back from the MCL sprain he suffered Nov. 25, and he'll probably need to upgrade to full participation by Thursday for the Chargers to consider adding him back to the 53-man roster ahead of Saturday's game against the Patriots. During Dobbins' four-game absence, the Chargers have been leaning on Gus Edwards (ankle) -- who was also limited Tuesday -- as the lead option of a three-man backfield committee including Kimani Vidal and Hassan Haskins.
Dec 23, 2024
Set to return to practice
The Chargers are opening Dobbins' (knee) 21-day practice window Monday, Eric Smith of the Chargers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins has been on injured reserve since Nov. 30, and he's since missed the required four games. It's not yet clear if the veteran running back will be able to suit up Saturday against New England, and Los Angeles would need to first activate him in order for him to return to the field. Dobbins' level of participation in practice this week should shed some light on the chance of that happening. Gus Edwards has been working as the Chargers' lead back in Dobbins' absence, and though Edwards has largely struggled in the role, he did break through for 68 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries last Thursday versus Denver.
Nov 30, 2024
Lands on injured reserve
Dobbins (knee) was placed on injured reserve Saturday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Head coach Jim Harbaugh suggested earlier in the week the talented running back would be out some time, and now we know Dobbins will miss at minimum four weeks due to a knee sprain. He should be back well in time for the NFL playoffs, but fantasy managers will be without the powerful back until at least Week 17 against the Patriots. Gus Edwards and Hassan Haskins were the two backs used in the Week 12 loss to the Ravens, but that was in part because rookie Kimani Vidal wasn't active for the contest as the Chargers prefer Haskins' utility on special teams. Vidal could be poised to see the biggest leap in playing time effectively taking over Dobbins' role as an explosive option out of the backfield with Edwards operating as a bruising between-the-tackles ballcarrier.
Nov 29, 2024
Officially out against Falcons
Dobbins (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Falcons.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins will miss at least one game as expected after spraining the MCL in his left knee during Monday's 30-23 loss to the Ravens. Gus Edwards is likely to get the majority of backfield playing time against the Falcons, with Kimani Vidal and Hassan Haskins also on hand at running back. Head coach Jim Harbaugh said Wednesday that Dobbins will "miss some time" due to the injury, so it's unclear if Dobbins has a chance to return in Week 14 against the Chiefs.
Nov 27, 2024
Expected to miss time, per Harbaugh
Head coach Jim Harbaugh noted Wednesday that Dobbins is "working through something with his knee," while adding that he expects the running back to "miss some time," Eric Smith of the Chargers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Kris Rhim of ESPN, Dobbins reportedly suffered a sprained MCL during Week 12 action, and as a result the running back is expected to be out Sunday against the Falcons and then potentially week-to-week beyond that. If Dobbins is indeed unavailable this weekend, Rhim indicates that Gus Edwards would likely get the bulk of the carries versus Atlanta, a context that would result in Kimani Vidal and Hassan Haskins seeing added change-of-pace complementary reps.
Nov 27, 2024
Nursing MCL sprain
Dobbins is tending to an MCL sprain in his left knee and is expected to sit out Sunday's game against the Falcons, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. He'll be viewed as week-to-week following Sunday's contest.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins was forced out of Monday's 30-23 loss to the Ravens in the second quarter due to the knee issue and now looks set to miss his first game of the season. Before injuring his knee, Dobbins had staged a successful comeback from the torn Achilles' tendon that cut short his 2023 season, as he had played in each of the Chargers' first 11 games while accounting for 900 yards from scrimmage and eight touchdowns. In Dobbins' expected absence, Gus Edwards is poised to take over as the Chargers' lead runner, while rookie Kimani Vidal could emerge as the preferred option on passing downs. Hassan Haskins is also on hand and could also provide some relief for Edwards out of the backfield.

Not expected to play Week 13
Dobbins sustained a knee sprain in Monday's 30-23 loss to the Ravens and is likely to miss the Chargers' Week 13 game Sunday versus the Falcons, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins is no stranger to knee injuries, having previously missed the entire 2021 season after tearing the ACL, LCL and meniscus in his left knee. He also missed all but one game in 2023 due to a torn Achilles' tendon, but he had staged a successful return this season with the Chargers, having suited up in each of the team's first 11 games while averaging 4.8 yards per carry and scoring eight touchdowns. However, Dobbins now looks poised to miss time after getting hurt Monday, with Rapoport noting that the 25-year-old's status is up in the air beyond the Week 13 matchup with the Falcons. Gus Edwards is expected to step in as the Chargers' lead option on the ground this week, but rookie sixth-round pick Kimani Vidal and third-year back Hassan Haskins could also be in store for expanded roles out of the backfield.

Won't return Monday
Dobbins (knee) has been ruled out for the remainder of Monday's Week 12 contest against the Ravens.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins was injured in the first half and wasn't able to reenter the game. He finished Monday's matchup with six carries for 40 yards and three catches (on five targets) for 19 yards. Gus Edwards has taken over lead back duties for Los Angeles in Dobbins' absence.
Nov 25, 2024
Questionable to return to MNF
Dobbins hurt his knee in Monday's Week 12 game against Baltimore and is questionable to return, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins' injury occurred in the first half. He headed to the locker room with a trainer and subsequently was given a chance to return. If Dobbins can't make it back into the contest, Gus Edwards likely will work as Los Angeles' top running back.
Nov 18, 2024
Two touchdowns in win
Dobbins registered 11 carries for 56 yards and two touchdowns, including the game winner, in Sunday's 34-27 victory over the Bengals. He also caught his lone target for three yards.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins was bottled up until the team's final play when the talented running back bounced an inside zone far left for a 29-yard touchdown with the Bengals likely expecting the Chargers to sit on the ball for a cheap game-winning field goal as time expired. While the 25-year-old did score another touchdown earlier in the day to effectively secure a solid fantasy day, it's worth noting that score only came after Hassan Haskins was given two carries at the one yard line, failing to punch it in either time. Haskins also vultured a touchdown against his former team, the Titans, last week, and Gus Edwards once again saw a decent amount of snaps (six carries, 27 yards), so there appears to be a weird situational platoon backfield at play despite Haskins' ineffectiveness in particular.
Nov 10, 2024
Cedes time to Edwards in win
Dobbins tallied 15 carries for 50 yards in the 27-17 win over the Titans on Sunday. He also caught all three of his targets for five yards.
ANALYSIS
Gus Edwards made his return after missing the previous four games with an ankle injury and immediately assumed his platoon role with Dobbins, finishing the day with 10 carries for 55 yards. To make matters worse for Dobbins' fantasy managers, the Chargers appeared to do the former Titan running back, Hassan Haskins, a solid by giving him a cursory one-yard touchdown plunge after Dobbins carried the ball four times for 19 yards and even saw a target on the 95-yard touchdown drive that effectively iced the game. There should be plenty more opportunities for an offensive explosion next week when the Chargers take on the Bengals' woeful defense.
Nov 3, 2024
Finds end zone again Sunday
Dobbins rushed 14 times for 85 yards and two touchdowns and brought in both targets for 20 yards in the Chargers' 27-10 win over the Browns on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins had his share of struggles finding running room, but he broke off a 34-yard run with just under six minutes remaining to give his efficiency a boost. Dobbins logged a touch on all four plays in that same march, capping it off with a seven-yard touchdown run that served as his third score in the last four games. Dobbins' yardage total was his fourth highest of the season overall, and he also carries a six-game streak with multiple receptions into a Week 10 home matchup against the Titans.
Oct 27, 2024
Gets 21 touches, TD in Week 8 win
Dobbins rushed 17 times for 57 yards and a touchdown while catching four of seven targets for 11 yards in Sunday's 26-8 win over the Saints.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins scored his fourth rushing touchdown of the season on a one-yard run in the second quarter. He tied for the team lead in targets with Will Dissly, but Ladd McConkey keyed LA's passing offense by catching all six of his targets for 111 yards and two touchdowns. Dobbins has a high touch floor as the clear lead back for the Chargers heading into a Week 9 road game against the Browns.
Oct 22, 2024
Stays busy in loss
Dobbins rushed 14 times for 40 yards and brought in all three targets for 26 yards in the Chargers' 17-15 loss to the Cardinals on Monday night.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins once again paced the Chargers' backfield in carries and rushing yards, although he surprisingly found running room at a premium against what had been a vulnerable Cardinals defense. The veteran running back also tied a season high in receptions while posting his second-highest total of receiving yards, making it a reasonably productive outing overall. Dobbins next takes aim at the struggling Saints in a Week 8 home matchup on Sunday.
Oct 13, 2024
Over century mark in total yards
Dobbins carried the ball 25 times for 96 yards and a touchdown in the 23-16 win over the Broncos on Sunday. He also caught both of his targets for six yards.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins was effectively held in check as he averaged under four yards a carry, but quarterback Justin Herbert was brilliant in the first half helping the offense expand a three-score lead that seemed insurmountable Sunday. Perhaps more importantly, Dobbins easily set a season high in carries, in part because of the game script, but this was also the first game without Gus Edwards (ankle), who was placed on injured reserve Saturday. Rookie Kimani Vidal will likely get more involved as the weeks progress (four carries 11 yards plus two catches for 40 yards and a touchdown), but Dobbins appears to have a significant lock on the backfield at the moment.
Sep 29, 2024
Limited production against Chiefs
Dobbins rushed the ball 14 times for 32 yards in Sunday's 17-10 loss to the Chiefs. He added three receptions on four targets for 30 yards.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins maintained his stronghold on the Chargers' backfield, out-touching Gus Edwards 17-6. His efficiency disappeared, however, as he was held to two or fewer yards on nine of his 14 carries. He's now been bottled up for a combined 76 yards on 29 rush attempts in his last two games, though he's faced two of the better run defenses in the league after squaring off against Pittsburgh in Week 3. Dobbins should continue to have volume on his side when the Chargers return to the field in Week 6, and he'll have a better chance of turning in improved efficiency.
Sep 22, 2024
Not able to build off big workload
Dobbins carried the ball 15 times for 44 yards and also caught all three of his targets for 10 yards in the 20-10 loss to the Chargers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins' platoon backfield partner, Gus Edwards, saw just three carries in this one as the gameplan seemed reliant on Dobbins' shiftiness to make yardage out of nothing. While he was excellent against first contact, the overall offense clearly seemed outmatched against the Steelers, and that became increasingly more apparent after Justin Herbert left in the second half due to an ankle injury. It likely won't get a whole lot easier against the Chiefs next week, especially if star rookie tackle Joe Alt misses time after he suffered a lower-body injury late in the loss.
Sep 15, 2024
Stellar encore in Week 2
Dobbins rushed 17 times for 131 yards and a touchdown and brought in his only target for no gain in the Chargers' 26-3 win over the Panthers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Any thoughts of Dobbins' spectacular Week 1 performance against the Raiders, which was fueled by 46- and 61-yard runs, having been an outlier were dispelled by the explosive back Sunday, with the 2020 second-round pick putting together a similarly spectacular effort that included another 40+ yard run. Dobbins' game-long run of 43 yards, which resulted in a touchdown just before the two-minute warning in the first half, served as the highlight of his day, but he consistently gained solid yardage while recording 88 yards on his other 16 totes. Dobbins was actually outpaced by one-time Ravens backfield mate Gus Edwards by one carry, but it's clear through two weeks there's plenty of room for two backs to be productive on head coach Jim Harbaugh's run-centered attack. Dobbins will look for a third consecutive 100-yard game when Los Angeles faces off with the Steelers on the road in Week 3.
Sep 8, 2024
Electric in season debut
Dobbins tallied 10 carries for 135 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 22-10 win over the Raiders. He also caught all three of his targets for four yards.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins had separate runs of 46 yards and 61 yards in the second half as the run-centric offense finally wore down the Raiders across the final 30 minutes of the contest. The fifth-year running back saw fewer carries than Gus Edwards (11 for 26 yards), but it was clear the scheme called for Dobbins to take the majority of rushes outside, and he also saw an overwhelming majority of the targets out of the backfield. While the 2020 second-round pick was chased down on both of his long runs, his clear burst and acceleration felt reminiscent of his early years with the Ravens before a series of serious knee injuries ruined his career trajectory. Dobbins could be poised for another heavy workload against a Panthers defense that allowed 47 points in Week 1.

Healthy heading into Week 1
Dobbins looked healthy in training camp heading into Sunday's season opener against the Raiders, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins tore his Achilles in Week 1 of 2023 with the Ravens and missed the rest of the season, but he has healed up and looked spry in camp with the Chargers. Popper believes Dobbins will contribute regularly as a pass catcher, and Dobbins still has the speed to beat defenders to the edge in the running game. Dobbins is expected to begin his Chargers tenure in a timeshare with Gus Edwards. Both running backs previously played under Chargers offensive coordinator Greg Roman in Baltimore.
Aug 10, 2024
Not in line to play Saturday
Dobbins isn't slated to play in Saturday's preseason opener against the Seahawks, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The same goes for fellow key RB Gus Edwards, which sets the stage for Kimani Vidal, Isaiah Spiller, Jaret Patterson and Elijah Dotson to handle backfield work versus Seattle on Saturday. Dobbins' next chance to see exhibition action will be Aug. 17 against the Rams.

Practicing in full pads
Dobbins (Achilles) is participating in Day 1 of Chargers training camp Wednesday, Kris Rhim of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins, notably, will avoid having to begin training camp on the PUP list, confirming that he's truly healthy after having suffered a torn Achilles in Baltimore's regular-season opener in 2023. It more remains to be seen whether Dobbins has lost a step, as the torn Achilles tendon only represents the most recent hurdle in the gauntlet of severe injuries he's dealt with in his NFL career, also including a torn ACL, torn LCL and severe hamstring strain. Still, Dobbins has built up some traction this offseason, he could be set for a significant role alongside former Ravens teammate Gus Edwards in a familiar rushing scheme led by offensive coordinator Greg Roman, as long as he's still able to impress as a rusher.
Apr 30, 2024
Feels 100 percent
Dobbins (Achilles) said he feels 100 percent healthy entering the offseason program, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
"I've had these injuries, and it's been a storm," Dobbins said. "But I think the storm is over with, and I think I'm going to take off now. There's going to be no setbacks, and the 'injury prone' thing will be gone out of the window." Since being drafted in the second round in 2020, Dobbins has missed a whopping 43 games to various significant injuries, including a torn ACL, torn LCL, severe hamstring strain and a torn Achilles' tendon. To say the "injury prone" stuff is out the window is a bit of wishful thinking by Dobbins, as his body has yet to cooperate with him up to this point. Dobbins is still just 25 years old, but the injuries have piled up on him. He and Gus Edwards are expected to key new Chargers OC Greg Roman's run-first offense.

Should be ready for training camp
Dobbins (Achilles), who agreed to terms with the Chargers on Thursday, "should be" ready for training camp according to GM Joe Hortiz, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Tom Pelissero of NFL Network relayed last month that Dobbins -- who suffered a torn Achilles in Baltimore's regular-season opener in 2023 -- has been cleared for football activities, with previous reports having noted that the running back had resumed running this offseason. Based on the assessment of Hortiz on Thursday, Dobbins is still working his way back from his injury, but if the 2020 second-rounder is able to return to form, he and Gus Edwards (who also came over from the Ravens in free agency) have a chance to provide an effective 1-2 punch in the Chargers' backfield in 2024 under the guidance of offensive coordinator Greg Roman, who both players worked with in Baltimore.

Slated to join Chargers
Dobbins (Achilles) is in line to sign a one-contract with the Chargers, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
A second-round pick of the Ravens in 2020, Dobbins had two of his first four pro seasons cut short due to an ACL tear in 2021 and then a torn left Achilles in Week 1 of the 2023 campaign. In his 24 career appearances, he's averaged a robust 5.8 yards on 234 carries, gathered in 27 of 35 targets for 177 yards and scored 13 total touchdowns. Orthopedic surgeon Dr. Neal ElAttrache penned a letter to NFL teams in late March that Dobbins had received medical clearance to participate in football activities, but his new contract will be contingent on a physical. Once the move west to L.A. becomes official, Dobbins will join forces with former teammate Gus Edwards at the top of the RB depth chart, giving him some sway in fantasy working alongside QB Justin Herbert.

Meeting with Kansas City
Dobbins (Achilles) is visiting the Chiefs on Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins met with the Chargers last week, shortly after orthopedic surgeon Dr. Neal ElAttrache notified NFL teams that the running back has medical clearance for football activities. The 25-year-old is coming up on the seven-month mark since suffering an Achilles' tear in Baltimore's Week 1 win over Houston, with Schefter's report Tuesday morning suggesting Dobbins is expected to sign a contract soon.
Mar 28, 2024
Lines up visit with Chargers
Dobbins (Achilles) is visiting Los Angeles on Thursday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins, who was recently medically cleared for football activities, is coming off a left Achilles tear after previously missing all of 2021 and about half of the 2022 season due to a torn ACL and proceeding issues. That medical history undercuts otherwise impressive career numbers for Dobbins, who has averaged 5.8 yards per carry and scored 13 touchdowns since entering the NFL in 2020 as a second-round pick by the Ravens, but only suited up for 24 games in that span. Reuniting with offensive coordinator Greg Roman could make the most sense as a landing spot for Dobbins, but it's possible he doesn't garner more interest than a potential prove-it deal. The Chargers and Roman signed Gus Edwards,a former Baltimore backfield mate of Dobbins, early in free agency.
Mar 26, 2024
Clear for football activities
Orthopedic surgeon Dr. Neal ElAttrache wrote in a letter to NFL teams Tuesday that Dobbins (Achilles) has received clearance to take part in football activities, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins suffered a torn left Achilles back on Sept. 10 and underwent surgery to repair it on Sept. 15, meaning he's a little less than seven months removed from that sequence of events. Tuesday's news comes on the heels of Dobbins posting a video in late February of him running on turf and then a treadmill. He's expected to visit teams in the near future, but any signing will be subject to a physical, so he isn't in the clear health-wise just yet. Since the Ravens selected him in the second round of the 2020 Draft, Dobbins has been dynamic when available, averaging a robust 5.8 yards per carry with 12 touchdowns in his 234 rushes in 24 games. However, his medical chart includes a torn ACL in addition to the aforementioned Achilles injury, so he may be resigned to a prove-it deal wherever he ends up.

Posts rehab videos
Dobbins (Achilles) posted a video Thursday that shows him running on turf and then a treadmill.
ANALYSIS
Meanwhile, GM Eric DeCosta told reporters Tuesday that the Ravens plan to discuss new contracts with both Dobbins and Gus Edwards. The former is still rehabbing the Achilles' tear that ended his 2023 campaign after Week 1, while the latter is nearly four years older but just set career highs for carries (198), rushing yards (810) and rushing TDs (13). Edwards also averaged a career low 4.1 YPC, to be fair, after running for 5.0 or better in each of his previous NFL seasons. The rumor mill connects Baltimore with big-name RBs scheduled for agency like Derrick Henry and Saquon Barkley, but DeCosta made sure to mention Dobbins, Edwards, Justice Hill and Keaton Mitchell (torn ACL), with the latter two still under contract in Baltimore. Re-signing Dobbins or Edwards wouldn't necessarily preclude adding a bigger name, particularly in Dobbins' case given the poor track record of RBs coming back from Achilles injuries and the accompanying likelihood he'll have to settle for a contract without much guaranteed money. Officially makes way to IR
The Ravens officially placed Dobbins (Achilles) on injured reserve Tuesday, Clifton Brown of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
This move is merely procedural after Dobbins tore his Achilles during the Ravens' Week 1 win against the Texans, thereby ending his campaign. Baltimore will move forward with some combination of Gus Edwards and Justice Hill out of the backfield, while Melvin Gordon is a candidate to be elevated from the practice squad.
Sep 11, 2023
Surgery date set
Dobbins (Achilles) is scheduled to undergo surgery Friday to address his season-ending injury, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins suffered a season-ending Achilles' tear during Sunday's win over the Texans. The 24-year-old was entering the final year of his rookie deal, and he is currently set to hit free agency at the end of the 2023 season. With Dobbins done for the year, Baltimore's backfield looks set to be led by Gus Edwards and Justice Hill, the latter of whom scored twice Week 1. Experienced veteran Melvin Gordon is also expected to be brought up from the practice squad.

Suffers season-ending Achilles' injury
Coach John Harbaugh confirmed Sunday that Dobbins has a torn Achilles and will miss the rest of the season.
ANALYSIS
With Dobbins out for the rest of the campaign, Gus Edwards and Justice Hill are next up for the team's carries going forward, while Melvin Gordon and Owen Wright are candidates to be elevated from Baltimore's practice squad ahead of Week 2 action..

Torn Achilles' feared
Dobbins is feared to have suffered a torn Achilles' in Sunday's game against the Texans, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
The Ravens ruled the running back out for the rest of the contest, and initial reports suggest that he could miss extended time, pending the result of an MRI. If Dobbins is indeed sidelined beyond Week 1, Gus Edwards and Justice Hill are next up for the team's carries, with Melvin Gordon and Owen Wright candidates to be elevated from the practice squad.
Sep 10, 2023
Exits Sunday's game
Dobbins was forced out of Sunday's game against the Texans with an ankle injury, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Hensley, Dobbins wasn't able to put any pressure on the affected leg as he headed into the Ravens' locker room. In his absence, Gus Edwards and Justice Hill are next up for the team's carries.
Sep 8, 2023
No limitations for Week 1
Coach John Harbaugh said Friday that Dobbins has no snap count limitations for Sunday's game against the Texans, Ryan Mink of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins spent a large chunk of training camp "holding in" due to his desire for a new contract. He never received one and got a late start to practice. Now more than a full year removed from ACL surgery and healthy off of last year's scope, Dobbins looks positioned for a particularly big workload against Houston with the Ravens installed as heavy home favorites. This is a great matchup for the 24-year-old back.
Aug 23, 2023
Set to miss preseason finale
Dobbins isn't in line to play in Saturday's preseason finale against the Buccaneers, Ryan Mink of the Ravens' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins, who is entering his contract year, missed the Ravens' mandatory minicamp in June and then didn't participate in the team's first 14 practices of training camp, said Wednesday that he's had "good conversations" with general manager Eric DeCosta about his future. While Dobbins acknowledges that he wasn't 100 percent healthy at the end of the 2022 season, he believes that his speed is different in 2023 compared to last season and feels "amazing" as the coming season approaches. Come Week 1, look for Dobbins to lead Baltimore's backfield, with Gus Edwards and Justice Hill in the mix for complementary touches and either Melvin Gordon or Keaton Mitchell on hand in reserve.
Aug 21, 2023
Not slated to play Monday
Dobbins isn't in line to play in Monday's preseason contest against the Commanders, Brian Wacker of The Baltimore Sun reports.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins returned to team drills during this past Friday's practice, but it appears as though the Ravens plan to play it safe with their top back versus Washington. In that event, Dobbins' final opportunity to see preseason snaps will arrive Saturday against the Buccaneers.
Aug 18, 2023
Progresses to team drills Friday
For the first time this summer, Dobbins participated in team drills at Friday's practice, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins ended his "hold-in" earlier this week and started practicing Monday following his activation from the PUP list. He'd been limited to individual work up until Friday. With 23 days until the Ravens' Week 1 opener, Dobbins will have plenty of time to get his legs underneath him and carry the load as the team's lead back.
Aug 14, 2023
Looks good in return to practice
In his return to practice Monday, Dobbins participated in individual drills, while also circling out of the teams' backfield to catch several passes, Clifton Brown of the Ravens' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
On the heels of missing 14 training camp practices and this past Saturday's preseason opener against the Eagles, the running back was activated off the PUP list Monday after passing his condition test, per Jamison Hensley of ESPN. Following Monday's light practice, coach John Harbaugh noted "we'll probably ramp him up a little bit this week and work him in there and try to be smart in how we do it, but he'll be fine. He's 100% healthy. He looks good, [and] he's been training hard, so he's ready to go." While it remains to be seen if Dobbins logs any preseason action, now that he's back on the field, the 2020 second-rounder will look to cement his status as the top option in a Baltimore backfield that also includes Gus Edwards, Justice Hill, Melvin Gordon and Keaton Mitchell.
Aug 14, 2023
Makes practice debut
Dobbins (undisclosed) is participating in practice Monday, Ryan Mink of the Ravens' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins has been activated from the active/PUP list and is participating in his first practice session of training camp, meaning he could be available for next Monday's preseason game against the Commanders. The 24-year-old missed Baltimore's preseason opener, in addition to the first 14 practices of training camp, but he still has just under a month to get up to full speed before Sept. 10's regular-season opener against the Texans. Dobbins has been in attendance at team meetings, but on-field reps will be extremely valuable for the expected leader of a backfield also housing Gus Edwards, Justice Hill, Melvin Gordon and Keaton Mitchell.
Aug 14, 2023
In line to return to practice
Dobbins (undisclosed) is on track to be activated from the active/PUP list Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
When the move is made official the running back will be eligible to return to practice ahead of the Ravens' next preseason contest, next Monday against the Commanders. Once he's fully up to speed, Dobbins is in line to head a running back corps that also includes Gus Edwards, Justice Hill, Melvin Gordon and Keaton Mitchell.

Ready to practice soon?
Coach John Harbaugh said Tuesday that he expects Dobbins (undisclosed) to be back at practice "very soon," Jeff Zrebiec of The Baltimore Sunn reports.
ANALYSIS
Harbaugh said "the ball is in [Dobbins'] court" for a second time in as many weeks, essentially confirming that the running back's absence is related to his contract even though he's technically on the PUP list with an unspecified injury. The 24-year-old is in the final year of his rookie deal and presumably wants an extension, with his absence from practice this summer leaving Gus Edwards, Justice Hill and Melvin Gordon as the veteran options in Baltimore's backfield.
Aug 2, 2023
No timetable for return
Coach John Harbaugh spoke with Dobbins (undisclosed/PUP) Tuesday night, but at this point there's no timetable for the running back's return to practice, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Jamison Hensley of ESPN.comrelays that in terms of Dobbins' continued absence, Harbaugh acknowledged that "there comes a point in time when it does become a concern. He wants to be out there and he needs to be out there." In addition to dealing with an unspecified injury, Dobbins has expressed frustration with his contract situation, not an uncommon theme these days among some of his fellow NFL running backs. As long as the 2020 second-rounder remains unavailable, Gus Edwards, Justice Hill and Melvin Gordon are on hand to absorb Baltimore's backfield duties.

Watching practice from sideline
Dobbins (undisclosed) is an observer at Friday's practice, Brian Wacker of The Baltimore Sun reports.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins remains on the PUP list with an unspecified injury, though his frustration with extension negotiations is rumored to be a factor after he told reporters in June that "the business side is very hard" and "it's never just roses and daisies". The 24-year-old is entering the final year of his rookie contract and his first year under OC Todd Monken, who likely will call fewer rushing plays than former OC Greg Roman but could also given Dobbins more of an opportunity to catch passes. Behind Dobbins in the backfield, Baltimore has veterans Gus Edwards, Melvin Gordon, Justice Hill and undrafted rookies Keaton Mitchell and Owen Wright
Jul 26, 2023
No update on injury
Ravens coach John Harbaugh told reporters Wednesday that they'd have to ask Dobbins (undisclosed) if they want to know about his status, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The Ravens recently placed Dobbins on the active/PUP list -- which is only allowed with players that are injured or ill -- but there's also been speculation that the running back's continued absence is related to frustration with contract negotiations. Dobbins even hinted at it in June when he missed minicamp, one day after Harbaugh had attributed the absence to a soft tissue injury. Some combination of both is possible, of course, i.e., he could have a minor injury that he'd normally practice through but doesn't want to take the risk without a new contract. Whatever the case, Dobbins finished 2022 strong and enters the final year of his rookie contract essentially unchallenged as Baltimore's lead back. The options behind him are Gus Edwards, Melvin Gordon, Justice Hill and two undrafted rookies (Keaton Mitchell, Owen Wright).
Jul 21, 2023
Placed on active/PUP list
The Ravens placed Dobbins (undisclosed/knee) on the active/PUP list Friday, Ryan Mink of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins was held out of June minicamp with a soft tissue injury, and he appears to still be working his way back to 100 percent. The Ravens are expected to be cautious with the 2020 second-round pick, who missed the entire 2021 campaign after tearing his ACL during training camp and was never able to hit his stride in 2022. The state of his current injury remains unclear, but Dobbins is eligible to practice and/or play at any point during the preseason.
Jun 16, 2023
Frustrated with contract
Dobbins (undisclosed) declined to comment on reports he missed June minicamp due to a soft tissue injury and suggested Thursday that he's frustrated with his contract situation, ESPN's Jamison Hensley reports. "The business side is very hard. It's very different," Dobbins told WJZ-TV on Thursday. "You saw with Lamar [Jackson]. It's never just roses and daisies."
ANALYSIS
Coach John Harbaugh cited an unspecified soft tissue injury earlier in the week to explain Dobbins' absence from practice, while the running back seems to be saying his contract was a factor. They both said he'll be back on the field for training camp, with Dobbins making it clear he hopes to sign an extension in the interim as he enters the final season of his rookie contract. The 24-year-old has averaged 5.9 yards on 226 carries since the Ravens selected him 55th overall in the 2020 Draft, but he's missed more games (27) than he's played (23) and has caught only 25 passes. Dobbins should be at least somewhat more active as a pass catcher under new offensive coordinator Todd Monken, who told reporters Thursday that he's excited to see Dobbins on the field and knows the Ravens "certainly are better with him" out there. Dobbins was with the team during minicamp despite not practicing and said he'd ideally like to spend the rest of his career with the Ravens, but things could become more tenuous if he still do

Coach John Harbaugh suggested the injury occurred earlier this offseason, saying he'd thought Dobbins would be ready for June minicamp and still expects him to be fine for the start of training camp in late July, per Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic. The 24-year-old has another breakout opportunity ahead in the final season of his rookie contract, after an ACL tear cost him all of 2021 and led to mid-season arthroscopic surgery in 2022. Dobbins looked like his old self once he recovered from the procedure en route to 505 total yards in five games (including playoffs) while averaging 6.6 YPC. He's locked in as the lead runner in Baltimore and should see more targets under new offensive coordinator Todd Downing, though Gus Edwards is still around to poach some carries while Justice Hill and Keaton Mitchell are candidates to handle passing situations.
Jan 16, 2023
Tops 100 scrimmage yards in loss
Dobbins rushed 13 times for 62 yards while catching four of five targets for 43 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 24-17 wild-card round loss to the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins managed to stretch the ball over the goal line on his two-yard touchdown catch to get the Ravens on the board in the second quarter. He was also Baltimore's most effective option on the ground, finishing with one more carry than Gus Edwards and eight more rushing yards than quarterback Tyler Huntley. After two surgeries on his knee, Dobbins finally looks to have regained pre-injury form, which will make the 2020 second-round pick out of Ohio State an enticing fantasy option in 2023 as the lead back in a run-first Ravens offense that's likely to be quarterbacked by Lamar Jackson (knee).
Jan 15, 2023
Set to face Bengals
Dobbins is listed as active for Sunday's playoff opener against the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
As is top tight end Mark Andrews, after both players were rested during Baltimore's regular-season finale last weekend. In his return to action Sunday, look for Dobbins to lead his team's backfield versus Cincinnati in a matchup in which the Ravens figure to lean heavily on their ground game in the continued absence of top QB Lamar Jackson (knee).
Jan 8, 2023
Confirmed inactive
Dobbins (rest) is inactive for Sunday's game in Cincinnati.
ANALYSIS
TE Mark Andrews and G Kevin Zeitler also are inactive after not having injury designations for the game. Other starters may be rested as well in preparation for the wild-card round, and QB Tyler Huntley (shoulder) joins QB Lamar Jackson (knee) on the inactive list. Dobbins, Andrews and Zeitler will be back for the playoffs; the real question is whether Jackson and/or Huntley will be.
Jan 8, 2023
Slated to rest for Week 18
The Ravens are expected to hold Dobbins out for rest purposes in Sunday's regular-season finale against the Bengals, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Though Dobbins doesn't carry an injury designation for the contest, the Ravens are inclined to err on the side of caution with the running back, who returned from injured reserve Week 14 and has logged double-digit carries in each of the team's subsequent four games. Dobbins should take back the lead role out of the backfield during the wild-card round of the playoffs, but in his expected absence for Week 18, Gus Edwards is in line to serve as the Ravens' top option on the ground. Meanwhile, Justice Hill and Kenyan Drake should re-enter the mix for change-of-pace roles behind Edwards.
Jan 1, 2023
Leads backfield with 93 yards
Dobbins rushed 17 times for 93 yards and was not targeted in the passing game in Sunday's 16-13 loss to Pittsburgh.
ANALYSIS
This Steelers-Ravens rivalry game lived up to the billing, producing a physical low-scoring bout. Dobbins did his part by churning out big chunks on the ground despite facing six-man defensive fronts at times. Head coach John Harbaugh stuck with the hot hand after fellow back Gus Edwards (three carries for two yards) struggled early in the contest. It will be important to monitor the result of the Bengals' game on Monday, as the Ravens will still have a chance to play for the division crown next week if they lose to the Bills. If Baltimore enters Week 18 with nothing meaningful to play for, it wouldn't be surprising to see the oft-injured Dobbins' playing time limited in preparation for postseason play.
Dec 24, 2022
Splits workload Saturday
Dobbins carried the ball 12 times for 59 yards and failed to catch his only target in Saturday's 17-9 win over the Falcons.
ANALYSIS
The third-year back handled one more carry than Gus Edwards but was outgained by the veteran 99 yards to 59 on a cold day that saw the Ravens lean heavily on their ground game. Dobbins has seen between 12 and 15 touches in all three games since returning from a knee injury, and with Baltimore having locked up a playoff spot Saturday, his workload will likely remain capped in Week 17 versus the Steelers. He reached 120 rushing yards in each of those first two games however, so he might still be productive even on that volume.
Dec 21, 2022
Not on injury repor
Dobbins isn't listed on Wednesday's injury report as the Ravens prepare for a home game against Atlanta on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
The Ravens listed Dobbins as 'rest/knee' Tuesday before returning him to full practice participation Wednesday. He's topped 100 rushing yards in both of his games since returning from injured reserve, but with only 28 carries total and while playing less than half of Baltimore's offensive snaps in both games. It is possible Dobbins gets more work down the stretch, and Sunday's matchup with the Falcons should help out.
Dec 20, 2022
No practice for maintenance
Dobbins (rest/knee) didn't practice Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
The decision to list him as 'rest/knee' suggests this is just about maintenance for Dobbins, who has stepped back in as the team's lead runner with back-to-back 100-yard games off of injured reserve. His workloads have been modest, however, with Dobbins doing his damage on 28 carries total while playing less than half the snaps in both games. It remains to be seen if his workload will grow as the Ravens fight for playoff position the next few weeks. Either way, he should be fine for Saturday's matchup with Atlanta.
Dec 17, 2022
Extremely efficient against Browns
Dobbins rushed the ball 13 times for 125 yards in Saturday's 13-3 loss to the Browns. He added one reception for three yards.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins led Baltimore in carries for the second consecutive week, and he nearly doubled Gus Edwards' seven rushing attempts. Dobbins was also extremely efficient with his opportunity, ripping off gains of 37, 25 and 16 yards to account for the majority of his production. In two games since returning from injured reserve, Dobbins has racked up 245 rushing yards on 28 carries.
Dec 11, 2022
Excellent showing in return
Dobbins recorded 15 carries for 120 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 16-14 win over the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins was activated off injured reserve prior to Sunday's game and was active for the first time since Week 6. He split carries with Gus Edwards fairly evenly, though Dobbins ultimately led the way with two greater rushing attempts. Dobbins was also the far more efficient back, ripping off a long gain of 44 yards while also finding the end zone on a four-yard rush late in the first quarter. Dobbins isn't likely to completely take over the backfield in Baltimore due to the shaky strength of his knee, though the fact that he was trusted with 15 carries is a positive sign for his workload moving forward.
Dec 10, 2022
Activated off IR
Dobbins (knee) was activated off injured reserve Saturday, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins is now eligible to make his return this week against the Steelers after missing the team's past six games. However, even if the third-year back does make his return, he would likely see a limited role while splitting carries with Gus Edwards and Kenyan Drake. With Lamar Jackson (knee) potentially missing time, Dobbins and the ground game will be relied upon more in order to take pressure off of Tyler Huntley against a stout Pittsburgh defense.
Dec 8, 2022
Looking good in practice
Offensive coordinator Greg Roman noted Thursday that Dobbins (knee) "is looking good" in his second week of practice since being designated him to return from IR, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
"I really think that time off and what he was able to take care is going to make a big impact on his effectiveness," Roman said of Dobbins, who last suited up in Week 6. "We're excited about having him back." It remains to be seen if Dobbins is officially activated ahead of Sunday's game against the Steelers, but if he is, the 2020 second-rounder could well be eased back into the mix in 14, with Gus Edwards, Kenyan Drake and Justice Hill also in the Ravens' backfield corps.
Dec 2, 2022
Not ready to play this week
Dobbins (knee) won't be activated from IR in advance of Sunday's game against the Broncos, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
That said, coach John Harbaugh indicated that Dobbins could play as soon as Week 14 against the Steelers. In the meantime, Gus Edwards is slated to lead the Ravens' backfield this weekend, with Kenyan Drake and Justice Hill in line to continue to work in complementary roles.
Dec 1, 2022
Unlikely to be activated Week 13
Dobbins (knee) practiced Thursday for the second day in a row, but the Ravens aren't expected to activate him from injured reserve ahead of Sunday's game against the Broncos, Jonas Shaffer of The Baltimore Sun reports.
ANALYSIS
Baltimore officially designated Dobbins for return from IR on Wednesday, thereby opening a 21-day window in which he can be evaluated for a return to the 53-man roster. Because he's not currently a member of the roster, however, the Ravens don't have to disclose the extent of Dobbins' practice activity, though Shaffer's report would seem to suggest that the running back is being eased back into drills slowly after missing the past six weeks while recovering from an arthroscopic procedure on the same left knee in which he suffered an ACL tear last August. Assuming he experiences no setbacks with his knee while ramping back up, Dobbins could return to the lineup Week 14 or 15, but the Ravens look set to proceed with Gus Edwards, Kenyan Drake and Justice Hill as their active running backs for this Sunday's contest.
Nov 30, 2022
Returns to practice
Dobbins (knee) is practicing Wednesday, which opens his 21-day window to return from injured reserve, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
As promised by coach John Harbaugh earlier this week, Dobbins has been designated to return from injured reserve. He hasn't played since Week 6 while recovering from arthroscopic surgery on the same left knee in which he suffered an ACL tear last August. With the minor surgery seemingly going well, Dobbins should rejoin Baltimore's backfield within the next few weeks, possibly as soon as this Sunday against the Broncos. It's unclear how he'll split work with Gus Edwards and the team's other RBs, at least initially, but Dobbins typically has been viewed as the lead back in Baltimore when healthy.
Nov 28, 2022
Return window slated to open
Per coach John Harbaugh, Dobbins (knee) will return to practice this week, opening the window for the running back to return from injured reserve, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins has been sidelined since Week 6 after having surgery to remove scar tissue from his knee. The Ravens will have 21 days to add Dobbins back onto the roster, so he could be available as soon as Week 13 against the Broncos. Even if he's given the green light to play against Denver, Dobbins will likely be eased back in while Gus Edwards, Kenyan Drake and Justice Hill continue to see playing time in Baltimore's backfield.
Nov 3, 2022
Few weeks away from returning
Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said Thursday that Dobbins' recent left knee scope was a "smashing success," but the running back is still about 3-to-4 weeks away from a return from injured reserve, Jonas Shaffer of The Baltimore Sun reports.
ANALYSIS
Harbaugh acknowledged that there was more scar tissue in Dobbins' knee than expected, so even with the benefit of a bye Week 10, the 23-year-old may need to spend more than the requisite four games on IR. Dobbins is first eligible to return to action Week 13 against the Jaguars, though his availability for that contest will be contingent on his knee responding well to practice, whenever he's deemed ready to resume on-field work. For the time being, Gus Edwards (hamstring) -- who won't practice Thursday -- will continue to headline the Baltimore backfield, with Kenyan Drake and Justice Hill serving as Edwards' top complements.
Oct 22, 2022
Predictably placed on IR
Dobbins (knee) shifted to injured reserve Saturday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
This felt like the expected conclusion given Dobbins is expected to have his knee scoped following yet another knee injury. Perhaps more crucially for fantasy managers, Gus Edwards (knee) was activated off the PUP list Saturday, which means the bruising tailback immediately could insert himself into a backfield committee previously occupied by the uninspiring duo of Kenyan Drake and Justice Hill.
Oct 21, 2022
Expected to have knee scoped
Dobbins is expected to undergo an arthroscopic knee procedure next week that could sideline the running back 4-to-6 weeks, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins already has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Browns, but it looks like his absence will extend beyond Week 7. As long as he's unavailable, look for Kenyan Drake and Justice Hill to see added backfield touches, with Mike Davis in reserve and Gus Edwards (knee) a candidate to factor in once he's activated from the PUP list.
Oct 21, 2022
Ruled out for Sunday
Dobbins (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Browns after not practicing this week.
ANALYSIS
With Dobbins out and thus targeting a potential return to action this coming Thursday against the Buccaneers look for Kenyan Drake to see an expanded workload in Week 7, with Justice Hill mixing in, Mike Davis in reserve and Gus Edwards (knee, PUP list) a potential activation ahead of Sunday's contest.
Oct 21, 2022
Missing third straight practice
Dobbins (knee) is not practicing Friday, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins hasn't practiced in any capacity since his surgically repaired left knee tightened up versus the Giants in Week 6, and at this point it would be surprising if he's active for a significant role versus the Browns on Sunday. Friday's official practice report will provide Dobbins with an official game designation, but if he can't go the Ravens will lean on Kenyan Drake, Justice Hill and perhaps Gus Edwards (knee, currently on the PUP list) to handle increased backfield roles against Cleveland.
Oct 20, 2022
DNP on Thursday
Dobbins (knee) was a non-participant at practice Thursday, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins didn't play in the second half of the Ravens' Week 6 loss at the Giants after his surgically repaired left knee tightened up. He hasn't practiced in the interim, which isn't a great sign that he'll be available Sunday versus the Browns. In the end, the team could clear up Dobbins' status when it releases Friday's injury report, but Kenyan Drake, Justice Hill and even Gus Edwards (knee, currently on the PUP list) could be beneficiaries this weekend and beyond.
Oct 19, 2022
Misses practice Wednesday
Dobbins (knee) didn't practice Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Per Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com, Dobbins' knee tightened up during Sunday's 24-20 loss to the Giants, so the running back's status will be worth tracking ahead of this weekend's game against the Browns. A return to practice on Dobbins' part Thursday would presumably put him on track to suit up this weekend, but if he's out or limited against Cleveland, Kenyan Drake and Justice Hill would be candidates to see added touches in Week 7, while Gus Edwards could potentially join the mix if he's activated from the PUP list in the coming days.
Oct 16, 2022
Knee tightens up Sunday
Dobbins' knee tightened up during Sunday's 24-20 loss to the Giants, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
As a result, Kenyan Drake led the Ravens' rushing attack in the second half of the game en route to logging 10 carries for 119 yards and a TD. Dobbins, who finished the contest with seven carries for 15 yards, missed all of last season due to a knee injury, so his status will be worth closely monitoring ahead of next weekend's game against the Browns. Meanwhile, Justice Hill missed this Sunday's game with a hamstring injury and Gus Edwards (knee) is progressing but still on the PUP list.
Oct 10, 2022
Just eight carries in win
Dobbins (chest) rushed eight times for 44 yards and was not targeted in the passing game in Sunday's 19-17 win over Cincinnati.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins saw his usage inexplicably halved coming off of his strongest game of the season last week. The 2020 second-round pick missed Wednesday's practice with a chest injury before being fully cleared later in the week, and there were no post-game reports of any aggravation to either his chest or surgically-repaired knee. While this could be written off as a strategic decision, it doesn't explain why recent free-agent addition, Kenyan Drake, seemed to take over as the primary back in the fourth quarter and the entire final game-winning drive. Dobbins' fantasy managers are hoping for more than eight touches against the Giants next Sunday.
Oct 6, 2022
Turns in full practice
Dobbins (chest) was a full participant in Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
His ability to take every rep at Thursday's session likely confirms that his absence from Wednesday's session was for maintenance purposes. With Dobbins expected to gradually increase his usage and workload in the weeks to come now that he's returned from the knee surgery that sidelined him for all of 2021 and the first two contests of the current season, the Ravens could continue to cap his practice reps early on in weeks to ensure he's at optimal health heading into game days. Dobbins will once again headline the Ravens' backfield Sunday against Bengals, but it's unclear who might be complementing him. Justice Hill (hamstring) was his top understudy the past two weeks but looks to be trending toward sitting out Sunday, while Gus Edwards (knee) returned to practice Wednesday but may need another week or two to ramp up before the Ravens activate him from the PUP list.
Oct 6, 2022
Present for practice Thursday
Dobbins (chest) returned to practice Thursday, Jonas Shaffer of The Baltimore Sun reports.
ANALYSIS
It remains to be seen if the Ravens list Dobbins as a limited or full participant, but his return to the field Thursday after missing Wednesday's practice bodes well for his chances of continuing to lead the team's ground game this weekend against the Bengals.
Oct 5, 2022
Held out with chest injury
Dobbins missed Wednesday's practice with a chest injury.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins was slow to get up at one point in a 23-20 loss to the Bills this past Sunday, but he ended up playing down the stretch after Justice Hill left with a hamstring injury. Dobbins scored a pair of TDs early in the game but ultimately finished with modest yardage totals (13 carries for 41 yards and four catches for 22). Dobbins is more likely than Hill to play Sunday night against the Bengals, but the Ravens will need some kind of contribution from Mike Davis or Kenyan Drake, and they might even need a replacement for Dobbins if his chest injury doesn't improve throughout the week.
Oct 2, 2022
Pair of TDs in loss
Dobbins rushed 13 times for 41 yards and a touchdown and secured all four targets for 22 yards and another score in the Ravens' 23-20 loss to the Bills on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Playing in his second game of the season following a year-plus absence due to a gruesome August 2021 knee injury, Dobbins saw his touch count bump up after a quiet season debut in Week 3. The third-year back paced the ground attack in carries and made his first two trips to the end zone since the 2020 season, scoring on a one-yard shovel pass and a four-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. Dobbins unsurprisingly found running room mostly at a premium against a tough Bills defense -- outside of his game-long 16-yard run, he gained 25 yards on his other 12 carries -- but his ability to handle a heavier workload and his solid amount of involvement in the passing game were both very encouraging for fantasy managers. Dobbins' next opportunity to continue rounding into form comes in a Week 5 Sunday night divisional battle against the Bengals.
Sep 29, 2022
Practices fully Thursday
Dobbins (chest) practiced fully Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins, who made his season debut in Week 3 against the Patriots after returning from a major knee injury, was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice due to a chest injury, but his full participation Thursday paves the way for the 2020 second-rounder to play Sunday against the Bills. After being limited to 27 snaps and seven carries in his return to action this past weekend, Dobbins could see an uptick in touches in Week 4, with Justice Hill -- who logged six carries for 60 yards versus New England -- also poised to be a factor in the Baltimore's backfield mix versus Buffalo.
Sep 28, 2022
Listed with chest injury
Dobbins is listed as a limited participant in Wednesday's practice with a chest injury, Jonas Shaffer of The Baltimore Sun reports.
ANALYSIS
Better that than a knee injury, after Dobbins finished his rehab from an ACL tear this summer and made his season debut in the Week 3 win over New England. The Patriots held him to 23 yards on seven carries and 17 yards on two catches (43 percent snap share), while Justice Hill took six carries for 60 yards on 48 percent of snaps. Assuming the chest injury isn't serious, Dobbins should get at least a couple more touches than last week when the Ravens host the Bills on Sunday.
Sep 25, 2022
Nine touches in Week 3 debut
Dobbins (knee) rushed seven times for 23 yards and secured both targets for 17 yards in the Ravens' 37-26 win over the Patriots on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins made his long-awaited return from his August 2021 knee injury and actually paced the Ravens' running backs in carries. Game script eventually tilted more towards the passing attacks late and Lamar Jackson also paced all Baltimore players with 11 carries, but Dobbins is likely to get a bump in opportunity in a Week 4 home showdown against the Bills.
Sep 25, 2022
Returns to action
Dobbins (knee) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins, who is bouncing back from a major knee injury that he suffered during Baltimore's 2021 preseason finale, participated fully in practices last week, but he was made inactive in Week 2 against the Dolphins as the team elected to proceed cautiously with the running back. With another week's worth of full practice participation under his belt, the 2020 second-rounder is now slated to make his season debut, though it's plausible he'll be eased back into the mix some in terms of snaps and carries, with Mike Davis and Justice Hill on hand to spell Dobbins and work in complementary roles in Week 3.
Sep 24, 2022
Expected to make season debut
Dobbins (knee) is expected to play Sunday against the Patriots, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins fully practiced for a second straight week and is expected to play in his first regular season game since his rookie campaign, when he totaled 152 touches for 925 yards and nine touchdowns. The 2020 second-round pick suffered a major knee injury during Baltimore's 2021 preseason finale, and the Ravens have remained cautious with the running back despite encouraging advancements in his rehab. Dobbins may be limited during his first game, but his potential return would still be a significant boost to the Ravens' run game, which has struggled through the first two games of the season. Fantasy managers should still wait for confirmation on Dobbins' status ahead of Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff before locking him into lineups.
Sep 23, 2022
Listed as questionable for Week 3
Dobbins (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Patriots after practicing fully this week.
ANALYSIS
While the running back is trending in the right direction after practicing fully for the second straight week, coach John Harbaugh fell short of confirming that Dobbins will be in uniform Sunday, per Ryan Mink of the Ravens' official site. "(He's) working hard, I'm happy how he's working," Harbaugh said of Dobbins, who is working his way back from a major knee injury that he suffered during Baltimore's 2021 preseason finale. "We have certain parameters that we're looking at and things like that, and it's not going to be too long." Fortunately for those considering Dobbins in Week 3 fantasy lineups, the Ravens kick off at 1:00 ET on Sunday. If the 2020 second-rounder ends up behind held out again, however, Kenyan Drake, Mike Davis and Justice Hill would once again be in line to handle the team's backfield duties.
Sep 21, 2022
Another full practice
Dobbins (knee) practiced fully Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins -- who continues to work his way back from a major knee injury that he suffered during Baltimore's 2021 preseason finale -- participated fully in practices last week, but was made inactive for the team's Week 2 contest against the Dolphins. The running back's continued full participation Wednesday demonstrates that he continues to progress toward a return to game action, but at this stage of the week the Ravens have yet to declare one way or the other whether Dobbins will be in uniform Sunday against the Patriots. If he remains out or limited this weekend, Kenyan Drake, Mike Davis and Justice Hill would once again see added work in Week 3.
Sep 19, 2022
Still week-to-week
Coach John Harbaugh said Monday that Dobbins (knee) remains week-to-week, Jonas Shaffer of The Baltimore Sun reports.
ANALYSIS
Harbaugh declined to offer any information about Dobbins' chances of playing Week 3 versus New England, so the 2020 second-round pick still remains without a solid return timetable. Though Dobbins managed to resume practicing in full last week, the Ravens continue to take a cautious approach to his return from a serious left knee injury. That said, as long as Dobbins can continue looking good in practices without any setbacks, he could convince Harbaugh and Baltimore's coaching staff that Week 3 is an opportune time for this 2022 debut.
Sep 18, 2022
Inactive Sunday
Dobbins (knee) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Dolphins.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins was able participate fully in practices this past week, but the Ravens are electing to ease the running back into the mix given that he's bouncing back from a major knee injury that he suffered during the team's 2021 preseason finale. In his continued absence, Kenyan Drake, Mike Davis and Justice Hill are in line to handle Week 2 backfield duties, an arrangement that led to Drake logging 11 carries in Baltimore's season-opening win over the Jets, while Davis and Hill both recorded two rushing attempts. Drake thus should continue see his share of touches Sunday against Miami, making him a Week 2 fantasy lineup option for those in deeper formats or in need of short-term help at running back.
Sep 18, 2022
On track to sit out Week 2
Dobbins (knee) remains questionable ahead of Sunday's game against the Dolphins, but the Ravens plan to exercise caution and hold him out from playing this week, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins participated fully in practices this week and has experienced no apparent setbacks with the surgery he underwent last September on his left knee, which addressed ACL, LCL and meniscus damage in addition to damage to his hamstring. Still, the Ravens likely want to see Dobbins get in some more on-field reps before clearing him to make his season debut, which is now expected to come Week 3 at New England. The Ravens will likely officially rule Dobbins out for Sunday's contest with the release of their inactive list 90 minutes prior to the 1 p.m. ET kickoff, clearing the way for Kenyan Drake to lead a backfield rotation that includes Justice Hill and Mike Davis.
Sep 18, 2022
Status for Week 2 uncertain
Dobbins (knee) wants to play Sunday versus the Dolphins but it appears unlikely that the Ravens will give him clearance for Week 2, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
It appears that Dobbins isn't expected to play Week 2, though he could still have an opportunity to convince Baltimore's coaching staff pre-game. In any case, an official word on Dobbins' status will be revealed 90 minutes prior to Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff time. Even in the event that the 2020 second-round pick is given a chance to make his season debut Week 2, it seems likely that he would end up on a snap count. Kenyan Drake, Mike Davis and Justice Hill are available to handle backfield snaps if Dobbins can't go.
Sep 16, 2022
Practices fully, but questionable
Though he was listed as a full practice participant this week, Dobbins (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Dolphins.
ANALYSIS
Normally a week of full practice sessions would result in a player heading into his team's upcoming contest minus an injury designation, but with Dobbins working his way back from a major knee injury that he suffered during the Ravens' 2021 preseason finale, the team so far has fallen short of declaring him available for Week 2 action. Per Jonas Shaffer of the Baltimore Sun, Dobbins said Friday that he feels "amazing," but with regard to whether he'll suit up versus Miami, the running back noted, "We'll see." If he does make his season debut this weekend, some sort of snap count is plausible for Dobbins, with Kenyan Drake, Mike Davis and Justice Hill also available to handle backfield touches for Baltimore.
Sep 15, 2022
Another full practice
Dobbins (knee) practiced fully Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Back-to-back full sessions have Dobbins trending in the right direction ahead of Sunday's game against the Dolphins. That said, it's still plausible that the running back -- who suffered a season-ending ACL tear before the start of the 2021 campaign -- ends up officially listed as questionable by the Ravens ahead of Week 2 action. Friday's final injury report of the week is thus destined to determine whether Dobbins heads into the weekend carrying an injury designation or fully cleared to play.
Sep 14, 2022
Trending toward playing Week 2
Dobbins (knee) was a full practice participant Wednesday, putting him on track to play in Sunday's game against Miami, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins was a limited participant all last week, and while some reports called him a game-time decision, he never seemed especially likely to play. It could come down to a game-time call again this week, or at least the Ravens may want to create that appearance. If so, a 1 p.m. ET kickoff makes things easier on fantasy managers.
Sep 11, 2022
Inactive Sunday
Dobbins (knee) is officially inactive for Sunday's game against the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Though Dobbins, who suffered a season-ending ACL tear before the start of the 2021 campaign, was able to practice in a limited fashion this past week, the Ravens will play it safe here, with the running back's next chance to suit up arriving next weekend against the Dolphins. As a result, Mike Davis, Kenyan Drake -- who the team signed Aug. 31 -- and Justice Hill are available to handle the team's backfield duties versus the Jets, with some form of time-share likely in play. Per Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, look for Davis to start, though the Ravens figure to employ a backfield rotation in Week 1 that also includes Drake and Hill, a context that makes Davis and Drake options for those scrambling for Week 1 RB help.
Sep 11, 2022
Not in line to play Sunday
ESPN's Dianna Russini relays that Dobbins (knee) is not in line to be active for Sunday's season opener against the Jets.
ANALYSIS
The report indicates that the running back wants to give it a go, but it looks like the team will play it safe in Week 1, setting the stage for Mike Davis, Kenyan Drake and Justice Hill to handle Baltimore's backfield duties versus the Jets.
Sep 11, 2022
Appears likely to sit Week 1
Dobbins (knee), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's season opener versus the Jets, is considered a game-time decision but is "unlikely to play," a source tells Dianna Russini of ESPN.
ANALYSIS
The source notes that Dobbins is "going to try" to give it a go in pregame warmups, but even if he feels fine physically following his morning workout, the Ravens could still be inclined to err on the side of caution and hold him out for Week 1 while he builds back to 100 percent after undergoing surgery Sept. 7, 2021 to repair a torn ACL in his left knee. Dobbins was a limited participant in all three of the Ravens' practices this week, so the team may want to see him log a full workout before clearing him for his season debut. If Dobbins does in fact find himself on the inactive list Week 1, Mike Davis would be the leading candidate to draw the start in what could be a backfield committee that may also include Justice Hill and Kenyan Drake.
Sep 9, 2022
Listed as questionable
Dobbins (knee) remained limited at practice Friday and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Jets.
ANALYSIS
It's hard to know if the Ravens truly are unsure about his availability or are hoping to benefit from gamesmanship. Either way, a 1:00 ET kickoff is good news for fantasy managers, leaving no shortage of alternatives if Dobbins lands on the inactive list. Ravens QB Lamar Jackson seemed to hint at that outcome earlier in the week, while coach John Harbaugh was more optimistic, describing Dobbins as "ascending quickly" after Friday's practice. It isn't only Dobbins' status for Sunday that's a question mark; there's also uncertainty about how snaps and touches will be divided if he doesn't play. Mike Davis was first through the RB rotation throughout the preseason, followed by Justice Hill, but recent signing Kenyan Drake could also have a role.
Sep 8, 2022
Limited again Thursday
Dobbins (knee) remained limited at practice Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Per Kevin Eck of the Ravens' official site, head coach John Harbaugh noted Wednesday that Dobbins -- who suffered a season-ending ACL tear before the start of the 2021 campaign -- is "ascending quickly." With that in mind, clarity on Dobbins' Week 1 status could arrive once Friday's injury report is posted. If Dobbins is out or limited Sunday against the Jets, Mike Davis, Kenyan Drake and Justice Hill would be next up for touches in Baltimore's backfield.
Sep 7, 2022
Starts with limited practice
Dobbins (knee) was a limited practice participant Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Per Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com, Ravens coach John Harbaugh said Dobbins is "ascending quickly", while QB Lamar Jackson said he hoped the running back would be out on the field in "a couple of weeks." A 'limited' designation on the first official injury report of the season was to be expected, considering Dobbins was activated from the PUP list Aug. 8 (but seemingly still hasn't been cleared for contact). If he misses the opener against the Jets this weekend, Baltimore will rely on Mike Davis, Justice Hill and Kenyan Drake in the backfield (Davis being the favorite to start).
Aug 31, 2022
Status for Week 1 remains unknown
Coach Jim Harbaugh said that Wednesday's signing of Kenyan Drake isn't a sign that Dobbins (knee) won't be ready for the Ravens' regular-season opener Sunday, Sept. 11 at the Jets, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports. "J.K. has looked better every day," Harbaugh added. "His quickness is kind of back."
ANALYSIS
After Baltimore activated Dobbins from the active/PUP list on Aug. 8, he didn't exhibit his typical burst on the field right away, but as Harbaugh noted the third-year running back has looked more explosive in practice of late. The Ravens won't have the serves of Gus Edwards (knee) for at least the first four games of the upcoming campaign, as he resides on the reserve/PUP list, so Drake's addition can be seen more as providing depth for a team that boasts a run-heavy scheme. A better indication of Dobbins' Week 1 availability could emerge when Harbaugh must post injury reports, starting next Wednesday. If Dobbins ends up being limited or even out in the opener, Mike Davis, Drake and Justice Hill are the other current members of Baltimore's backfield.
Aug 29, 2022
Still uncertain for season opener
Ravens coach John Harbaugh said Monday that he doesn't know if Dobbins (knee) will be ready for Week 1 against the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Harbaugh made similar comments a week and a half ago and hasn't said much else about the running back since he was removed from the PUP list Aug. 8. Dobbins has increased his activity level over the past three weeks but still needs to be cleared for contact before the Ravens can truly evaluate his readiness in practice. With Gus Edwards (ACL) ruled out for the first four weeks already, there's an opportunity for Mike Davis and Justice Hill to be involved in the Baltimore offense early in the season.
Aug 17, 2022
Not a lock for Week 1?
Coach John Harbaugh said Wednesday that it's too early to know if Dobbins (knee) will play Week 1, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
It's what we expect any coach to say, though that doesn't mean it isn't accurate. Harbaugh said Dobbins is making good progress, albeit with significant hurdles remaining, including a return to contact work in practice. A preseason appearance seems highly unlikely for the 23-year-old RB, working his way back from an ACL tear suffered last August (during a preseason game).
Aug 15, 2022
Taking baby steps in practice
Dobbins (knee) lined up and ran plays during Monday's practice, albeit without defenders on the field, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
It's progress from his recent participation in individual drills, moving Dobbins a step forward to an actual 11-on-11 practice. He was activated from the PUP list last Monday (Aug. 8) and isn't likely to play in the preseason, but a return for Week 1 seems tentatively on track. Ravens coach John Harbaugh thought Dobbins looked better Monday than he did last week, per Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic.
Aug 15, 2022
Going through individual drills
Dobbins (knee) didn't practice over the weekend but is back on the field for individual drills Monday, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
While he still hasn't progressed to full-team work, Dobbins at least seems to be avoiding setbacks so far. An appearance this preseason might be asking to much, but he at least has a shot to be ready Week 1. The Ravens don't have much else behind him, with Mike Davis the favorite for the No. 2 role in the increasingly likely event Gus Edwards (knee) isn't ready for the season opener. Dobbins and Edwards both suffered ACL tears before Week 1 last year.
Aug 9, 2022
Starts with indiviidual drills
Dobbins (knee) did individual drills Monday at his 2022 practice debut, staying on the field for nearly 90 minutes, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins had been pressuring the team to remove him from the PUP list since the start of training camp and finally got his wish Monday afternoon. "I thought he looked pretty good in individual (drills)," Ravens coach John Harbaugh said afterward. "You guys saw him moving around, running the ballhandling drill. That will be the first step. Maybe we add a little bit more every day and kind of see how he handles it, and see how the knee responds. But it seems like it's so far so good." With nearly five weeks to go before Baltimore's regular-season opener, Dobbins seemingly has put himself on the right track to play, while backfield mate Gus Edwards (also coming back from an ACL tear) remains on the PUP list and is trending the other direction.
Aug 8, 2022
Activated from PUP list
Dobbins (knee) has passed his physical and has been removed from the PUP list, Ryan Mink of the Ravens' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Per the report, Dobbins, who suffered a season-ending knee injury last year on Aug. 28, figures to be eased into action by the Ravens, likely starting with individual drills. When 100 percent, Dobbins profiles as the team's lead back, while Gus Edwards is a candidate to be next in line for backfield touches when he returns from a knee injury of his own. In the meantime, Mike Davis, Justice Hill, Corey Clement, Tyler Badie and Nate McCrary are also on hand to compete for depth chart slotting.
Aug 7, 2022
Set to undergo evaluation Monday
Dobbins (knee) will undergo an evaluation Monday to determine if he can be activated of the active/PUP list, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
As Jonas Shaffer of The Baltimore Sun previously reported, Dobbins has been in a hurry to resume practicing but has remained on the PUP list through the first two weeks of training camp. However, he could return as soon as Monday if his evaluation goes as planned. Dobbins still profiles as the lead back once he's ready with Mike Davis, Justice Hill and Corey Clement currently as the top healthy options and Gus Edwards (knee) still behind on his rehab. Dobbins, a 2020 second-round pick, ran 134 times for 805 yards (6.0 yards per carry) and nine touchdowns as a rookie and was set for an expanded role last year before tearing his ACL during a preseason contest.
Aug 4, 2022
Eager to practice, still on PUP
Coach John Harbaugh relayed Thursday that Dobbins (knee) remains in a hurry to resume practicing, Jonas Shaffer of The Baltimore Sun reports.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins remains on the PUP list after more than a week of training camp, though he said at the very beginning that he felt he was ready for practice. The Ravens are holding him back, albeit with Harbaugh acknowledging multiple times that Dobbins is ahead of Gus Edwards in the rehab process. Both suffered ACL tears, and while Dobbins' reportedly was accompanied by other damage in his knee, it's Edwards who seems to be a bit behind rehab expectations. Dobbins still profiles as the lead back once he's ready, as the healthy options at Baltimore training camp right now are Mike Davis, Justice Hill, Corey Clement and Nate McCrary -- not the most inspiring bunch unless you're prioritizing coverage and blocking on special teams units.
Jul 27, 2022
Wants to practice ASAP
Dobbins (knee) believes he's ready to practice but for Wednesday will remain limited to on-field workouts after practice, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The Ravens want to take things a bit slower than Dobbins, who said last week that he hoped to avoid the active/PUP list. The Ravens placed him on it ahead of training camp, but it sounds like he'll be coming off soon to rejoin his teammates at practice. He seems to be ahead of fellow running back Gus Edwards, who suffered an ACL tear a couple weeks after Dobbins did. Ravens coach John Harbaugh recently said he wasn't sure if Edwards would be ready for Week 1.
Jul 22, 2022
To open camp on PUP list
Dobbins (knee) has been placed on the active/PUP list by the Ravens, Clifton Brown of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The same applies to fellow running back Gus Edwards, who, like Dobbins, is bouncing back from a torn ACL that he suffered prior to the start of the 2021 regular season. Both players can come off the PUP list at any time during training camp, though neither has a concrete timetable for a return to practice. While there's been some speculation that Dobbins is no lock to be ready for Week 1 action, for his part the 2020 second-rounder -- who profiles as the Ravens' top backfield option when healthy -- recently declared that he's sure he'll be ready to play by that time.
Jul 18, 2022
May not be ready for Week 1
Dobbins (knee) hasn't dealt with any setbacks in his rehab process but nonetheless is uncertain to be ready for Week 1, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
The reporting last year largely focused on Dobbins' ACL tear after he injured his knee late in the preseason, with the timing of the incident seemingly giving him a good chance to be ready for Week 1 of 2022. The problem is that he also injured his LCL and meniscus, potentially extending the rehab timeline, though he did have surgery only two weeks after his initial injury. Teammate Gus Edwards is rehabbing from a "clean" ACL tear with no additional significant damage reported, which means he could return to action before Dobbins despite suffering his injury two weeks later. Neither participated in spring practices, where Baltimore's backfield snaps were left in the hands of veteran offseason addition Mike Davis and a bunch of young, inexperienced players (Tyler Badie, Nate McCrary, Ricky Person). A healthy Dobbins would still be the leader of the group, assuming he eventually regains his rookie-year form (6.0 YPC, nine TDs on 134 carries). For what it's worth, Dobbins is much more optimistic about his injury
Jun 16, 2022
Not ruled out for camp
Ravens coach John Harbaugh said Dobbins (knee) and fellow running back Gus Edwards (knee) have "a chance" to be ready for the start of training camp, though the coach is "more hopeful" for the beginning of the regular season, Sarah Ellison of the Ravens' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Also mentioned in the same group by Harbaugh was LT Ronnie Stanley, who missed most of the past two seasons after breaking his ankle. Dobbins suffered an even more serious injury, with his ACL tear in August accompanied by LCL damage. Harbaugh said all three players are on schedule in their respective rehab processes, but that could put Dobbins behind the others nonetheless, as Edwards suffered his ACL tear just two weeks later with no reported damage to other ligaments.
Mar 28, 2022
May open camp on PUP list
Coach John Harbaugh said Monday there's a "chance" that Dobbins (knee) begins training camp on the PUP list, Jonas Shaffer of The Baltimore Sun reports.
ANALYSIS
Harbaugh said both Dobbins and Gus Edwards (knee), who each missed the 2021 campaign due to torn ACLs, could need to start training camp on the PUP list. "We'll probably play it safe a little bit with those guys and take our time and just bring them along for the season," Harbaugh said. Dobbins still appears on track to return to full health in time for the start of the 2022 campaign, and there's not yet any indication that his recovery has run into any sort of setback. The fact that the Ravens have avoided any notable running back additions during free agency would appear to speak to the team's confidence in both Dobbins' and Edwards' recoveries.
Mar 2, 2022
Progressing toward return
GM Eric DeCosta relayed Wednesday that he's "very confident" that Dobbins (knee) is "going to come back and really flourish this year."
ANALYSIS
While it remains to be seen when Dobbins -- who tore his ACL last August -- will be full go, DeCosta notes that the Ravens "are very, very confident that (the 2020 second-rounder) will come back and be the type of player that he was two years ago." Once Dobbins re-establishes the soundness of his knee, he'll look to reclaim his role in a Baltimore backfield that also has Gus Edwards (knee) and Justice Hill (Achilles) -- who are also bouncing back from injuries -- currently under contract for the coming season.
Sep 9, 2021
Surgery successful
Dobbins underwent successful surgery to repair his torn ACL on Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins is expected to make a full recovery, and the timing of his injury should allow the starting running back to be ready by the start of next season if he avoids any setbacks. With fellow running back Gus Edwards sustaining a potentially serious knee injury of his own in practice Thursday, the Ravens are perilously thin in the backfield heading into the season.
Aug 30, 2021
Moves to injured reserve
The Ravens placed Dobbins (knee) on injured reserve Monday, Ryan Mink of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins sustained a season-ending ACL tear during Saturday's preseason game against Washington, so his shift to IR doesn't come as any sort of surprise. The transaction officially rules him out for the 2021 campaign. With Dobbins out of the picture this season, Gus Edwards appears slated to kick off Sept. 13's season opener against the Raiders as Baltimore's backfield leader, with Ty'Son Williams and Justice Hill (ankle) also available to share the workload. The Ravens may also still consider adding further running back depth.
Aug 29, 2021
Season-ending ACL injury
An MRI confirmed that Dobbins has suffered a season-ending torn ACL, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
With that, look for Dobbins to head to IR in the coming days. Meanwhile, Gus Edwards is slated to open the 2021 season as Baltimore's lead rusher, with Ty'Son Williams and Justice Hill (ankle) also in the mix for the team's backfield touches.
Aug 29, 2021
Injury likely season-ending
Dobbins is undergoing an MRI on his left knee, but the expectation is that the running back suffered a season-ending injury in Saturday's preseason game against Washington, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, it is feared that Dobbins tore his ACL, but either way it looks like the Ravens are bracing to lose their top back for an extended period. Gus Edwards is thus poised to open the 2021 season as the team's lead rusher, with Ty'Son Williams and Justice Hill (ankle) also in the mix for backfield touches.
Aug 29, 2021
Concern regarding knee injury
There's concern that Dobbins may have sustained a major left knee injury during Saturday's preseason game against Washington, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
While coach John Harbaugh declined to comment on his level of concern regarding the second-year back's injury after the contest, he did relay that Dobbins is set to undergo tests Sunday, noting "we'll see where we're at, at that point in time." Though a timetable for 2020 second-rounder is pending the results of the medical evaluations he's slated to undergo, Zrebiec speculates that even if the Ravens "get good news Sunday on Dobbins, he's going to miss extensive time." In such a scenario, Gus Edwards would be in a position to open the 2021 season as the team's lead back, with Ty'Son Williams, Justice Hill (ankle) also in the mix for backfield touches.
Aug 28, 2021
To undergo tests Sunday
Coach John Harbaugh said after Saturday's preseason win at Washington that Dobbins (knee/leg) will "get tested tomorrow, and we'll see where we're at, at that point in time."
ANALYSIS
Dobbins remained on the field for a spell at the end of a two-yard gain on a screen pass. He required assistance to reach the sideline tent and eventually needed a cart to get to the locker room. Following Sunday's examination, the Ravens likely have a better idea of the extent of his injury, which currently is murky. If Dobbins is sidelined for any length of time, Gus Edwards figures to be the team's No. 1 running back in those contests, with some combination of Justice Hill (ankle) and Ty'Son Williams mixing into one of the NFL's most run-oriented offenses.
Aug 28, 2021
Taken to locker room after injury
Dobbins (knee/leg) was carted to the locker room after his early exit from Saturday's preseason game against Washington, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Trainers helped Dobbins off the field and toward the medical tent, where he spent a few minutes before being sent off on a cart for the locker room. He's done for the day after making brief appearances in each of Baltimore's three preseason games, wrapping things up in the worst way possible. If Dobbins isn't ready for the regular-season opener, Gus Edwards will lead Baltimore's backfield in a friendly road matchup with Las Vegas.
Aug 28, 2021
Exits with potential knee injury
Dobbins was helped off the field after suffering an apparent left leg/knee injury during the first quarter of Saturday's preseason game against Washington, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins stayed down on the field at the end of a two-yard gain on a screen pass. He limped off with his arms around trainers after a couple minutes, and presumably will be held out for the rest of the game. With Justice Hill (undisclosed) already out, the remaining Baltimore RBs are Gus Edwards, Ty'Son Williams and Nate McCrary.
Aug 21, 2021
Four carries Saturday
Dobbins ran for eight yards on four carries in Saturday's preseason game against Carolina.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins and Gus Edwards both saw four carries, giving Baltimore's two lead running backs a chance to work a bit on their rhythm with the regular season approaching. With no Mark Ingram around it could provide a viable breakout platform for Dobbins after running for 805 yards and nine touchdowns on 134 carries last year (6.0 YPC).
Aug 14, 2021
No running room against Saints
Dobbins rushed three times for no gain and wasn't targeted in the passing game in Saturday's 17-14 win over the Saints.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins was stuffed for a one-yard loss on 4th-and-1 to end Baltimore's second drive and couldn't get going in his limited action, though not having Lamar Jackson by his side may have cut into Dobbins' effectiveness in his limited action. The Ravens' starting running back will look to up his production in Week 2 of the preseason against the Panthers.
Aug 10, 2021
Gets co-starter tag for preseason opener
Dobbins is listed as a co-starter alongside Gus Edwards for the Ravens' preseason opener against the Saints.
ANALYSIS
The expectation throughout the offseason has been that Dobbins would be the clear-cut lead back for the Ravens, but this depth chart puts that into some question. Edwards was extended during the offseason and clearly has a valuable function in the offense that will not disappear. Dobbins still projects to be the starter and the No.1, and it's important to note that this is merely a preseason depth chart. That said, Edwards' role must be seriously considered when analyzing Dobbins' workload for the upcoming season.
Jun 8, 2021
Improving as pass catcher
Head coach Jim Harbaugh indicated Tuesday that Dobbins has made significant progress as a receiver in the passing game, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins displayed explosiveness as a runner last season (6.0 YPC) but appears to be targeting additional reps by enhancing his abilities as a receiver in the passing game. The second-year back saw his workload increase down the stretch last season, averaging 12.8 carries for 82.5 yards and 1.2 rushing touchdowns per game over his final six games played, which could signal a breakout sophomore campaign for him. However, the Ravens just committed to Gus Edwards for another two seasons as well, so Dobbins is set to have competition for reps for seasons to come.
Jan 17, 2021
TD streak broken in playoff loss
Dobbins ran the ball 10 times for 42 yards, hauling in three of five targets for 51 yards during Saturday's 17-3 divisional-round loss to the Bills.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins came into the AFC playoff matchup having posted eight rushing scores over his past seven outings, but Buffalo held the rookie back without a TD despite him receiving three red-zone carries. As was a prevailing trend over the latter stages of the season with Mark Ingram a frequent healthy scratch, Baltimore deployed Gus Edwards and Dobbins in equal measure on the ground as each back garnered 10 rush attempts Saturday night. The rookie from Ohio State closed out the campaign with double-digit rush attempts over seven of his final eight games of the season, racking up an astronomical 6.0 yards per carry during that span. The 22-year-old plays in as a vital part of the Ravens' ground attack looking ahead to 2021, after he totaled 805 yards and nine TDs on 134 carries in the regular season.
Jan 10, 2021
Continues scoring streak
Dobbins rushed nine times for 43 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 20-13 wild-card win over the Titans. He also caught his only target but lost six yards.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins was once again efficient on the ground despite not racking up the yards overall. His four-yard touchdown to start the third quarter gave the Ravens their first lead of the game, one they wouldn't relinquish. In finding the end zone, the rookie has now scored at least once in each of his last seven games, putting Dobbins in fantastic form ahead of the AFC divisional round.
Jan 3, 2021
Erupts to close regular season
Dobbins rushed the ball 13 times for 160 yards and two touchdowns in Week 17 against the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins had a relatively quite first half, logging eight rushes for 45 yards. However, he had a big role in closing out the Ravens' victory, racking up touchdowns of 72 and four yards. After failing to command double-digit rushing attempts in the team's first six games, Dobbins has exploded in his final nine contests by racking up 651 rushing yards and seven touchdowns on the ground. He'll enter the Ravens' playoff matchup as the team's lead back.
Dec 27, 2020
Solid effort despite brief exit
Dobbins rushed 11 times for 77 yards and a touchdown and failed to bring in his only target in the Ravens' 27-13 win over the Giants on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins was forced briefly from the game in the second half with a chest injury, and although he returned to the contest, he did not log any additional touches. The rookie put some good work in for the day, however, scoring his seventh touchdown of the season on a two-yard run in the first quarter and also boosting his overall numbers with a game-long 25-yard run. Dobbins will head into a Week 17 road battle versus the vulnerable Bengals defense with at least 70 rushing yards in three of his past five contests and a five-game rushing TD streak.
Dec 27, 2020
Back in the game
Dobbins who exited Sunday's game against the Giants with a chest injury, was able to return to the contest, Jonas Shaffer of The Baltimore Sun reports.
ANALYSIS
Now that he's back in the mix, Dobbins will resume sharing the Ravens' Week 16 running back duties with Gus Edwards.
Dec 27, 2020
Leaves Sunday's game
Dobbins was forced out of Sunday's game against the Giants with a chest injury.
ANALYSIS
Prior to his exit from the contest, Dobbins logged 11 carries for 77 yards and a TD. In his absence, Gus Edwards will head the Ravens' Week 16 backfield.
Dec 20, 2020
Leads backfield again
Dobbins carried the ball 14 times for 64 yards and a touchdown in Week 15 against the Jaguars. He added one reception for 17 yards.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins paced the Ravens' backfield, though Gus Edwards still commanded nine carries to eat into his workload. His longest rush came on the fifth play from scrimmage, when he racked up 11 yards along the left side of the offensive line. Dobbins continued to rush well throughout the first half, ripping off runs of seven, eight, and nine yards on two seperate drives before plunging into the end zone from two yards away to cap the latter. He has now hit pay dirt in four consecutive games, and will head into a Week 16 matchup against the Giants with a seemingly secure workload.
Dec 15, 2020
Finds end zone again
Dobbins rushed 13 times for 53 yards and a touchdown in Monday night's 47-42 win over the Browns. He also ran in a successful two-point conversion.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins led the Ravens in rushes, with Gus Edwards' seven marking the next most from a running back. Although Edwards also scored twice while accumulating 49 yards on the ground, Dobbins was still impressive Monday. With a one-yard touchdown during the third quarter, the rookie has now scored in three straight games, garnering double-digit carries in each of those outings as well. Such success has Dobbins' value rising as the end of the season approaches, and in Week 15 he's rewarded with a matchup against a Jaguars defense that's allowed the third-most rushing yards league-wide thus far.
Dec 8, 2020
Notches TD against Cowboys
Dobbins collected 71 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries during Tuesday's 34-17 win against Dallas.
ANALYSIS
Baltimore dominated the Cowboys' porous rush defense, with Gus Edwards (101), Lamar Jackson (94) and Dobbins helping the Ravens become the second team since the start of last season to have three different players hit 70-plus rushing yards in a game, per NFL Research. The return of Mark Ingram from the reserve/COVID-19 list did not have a notably detrimental impact on Dobbins' workload, with the veteran garnering just six carries against the Cowboys. Dobbins has fielded double-digit carries in four of his past games, as the Ravens head into a Week 14 matchup against a Cleveland defense that held Derrick Henry to 60 yards and zero TDs over 15 carries Sunday.
Dec 6, 2020
Backfield back at full strength
The Ravens will have a fully stocked backfield Tuesday against the Cowboys following the activation of Mark Ingram (illness) from the reserve/COVID-19 list, which could impact Dobbins' workload.
ANALYSIS
Since Baltimore's Week 7 bye, Ingram has missed three of five games and earned just nine touches. Meanwhile, Dobbins has been active four times en route to 53 touches for 255 yards from scrimmage and one TD; Gus Edwards has played in all five contests, with 49 touches for 210 total yards and three scores; and Justice Hill similarly has logged time in each one on his way to 12 touches for 43 total yards. The Ravens aren't afraid to use multiple backs from week to week, but Dobbins and Edwards seem the most likely to come out on top in terms of snaps and touches among the aforementioned quartet Tuesday.
Dec 4, 2020
Activated from reserve/COVID-19 list
Dobbins was activated off the reserve/COVID-19 list on Friday.
ANALYSIS
The Ravens released their transaction report Friday and Dobbins is now back on the active roster. The Ravens have multiple practice opportunities remaining before Tuesday's game against the Cowboys, which should give Dobbins time to prepare. It's worth noting as well that Mark Ingram was not among those activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list, so that could be one less player to compete with for carries when it comes to Dobbins. Look for Dobbins and Gus Edwards to be Baltimore's primary running backs Tuesday.
Dec 3, 2020
Week 13 status to be determined
Coach John Harbaugh said that Dobbins did not play Wednesday as part of a "medical decision," Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com "Are they physically ready to go play in a game like that without practice? Those are all the things that doctors take into consideration," Harbaugh said in reference to Dobbins and Mark Ingram.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins was not activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list ahead of Wednesday's loss to the Steelers despite being eligible after clearing the minimum isolation period. However, Baltimore kept both Dobbins and Ingram out, and Harbaugh alluded to a lack of practice time playing a role. The Ravens haven't commented on Dobbins' status for Tuesday's game against the Cowboys, but if he's able to practice in the coming days, it could be enough to get him activated.
Dec 2, 2020
Not available for Wednesday game
Dobbins (illness) won't be activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list ahead of Wednesday's game against the Steelers, Michele Tafoya of NBC Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Tafoya added that Mark Ingram (illness) won't be activated from the list either, with Kimberley A. Martin of ESPN relaying that neither running back flew with the team to Pittsburgh on Tuesday night. With both Dobbins and Ingram sidelined, Gus Edwards is in line to start Week 12, and he should take on the bulk of the carries while fourth-stringer Justice Hill to works as the top change-of-pace option out of the backfield. Assuming Dobbins doesn't experience any setbacks in his recovery from the coronavirus and is able to test negative for COVID-19 in the upcoming days, he should have a chance at returning to action in the Ravens' Week 13 matchup with the Cowboys on Dec. 8.

Chance to play Wednesday
Dobbins (illness) and Mark Ingram (illness) will be eligible to play Wednesday against the Steelers, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
The game was postponed again from Tuesday to Wednesday, potentially providing the pair of running backs the chance to rejoin the active roster ahead of the contest. The fact it's now possible doesn't definitively mean it will happen, especially given how quickly the situation has evolved. Regardless, the return of Dobbins or Ingram would be a big boost for the Ravens who will already be without quarterback Lamar Jackson (illness).

Tests positive for COVID-19
Dobbins (illness) will be placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list after testing positive Monday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins and position mate Mark Ingram (illness) have both tested positive for COVID-19 following Sunday's 30-24 loss to the Titans, which resulted in Baltimore's team facilities being shut down Monday. The news leaves Gus Edwards and Justice Hill as the Ravens' only running backs heading into a primetime Thanksgiving Day contest against the Steelers, so Ty'Son Williams could be a candidate to bump up from the practice squad. Dobbins led Baltimore's backfield against Tennessee (15 carries for 70 yards), and he appeared to have been making a case for a bellcow role, but the rookie second-round pick will now be forced miss time until he's able to gain full medical clearance.

Leads Ravens' backfield
Dobbins rushed the ball 15 times for 70 yards and a touchdown in Week 11 against the Titans. He added two receptions for 15 yards.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins matched his career-high mark in carries, leading the Ravens backfield in workload even with Mark Ingram healthy. He took advantage of his opportunity, consistently picking up chunks of yardage to average 4.7 yards per carry. Dobbins was also trusted near the goal-line, punching in a touchdown from two yards away late in the second quarter. It was his first time finding the end zone since Week 1, and also his second-highest yardage total on the ground in his career. Even if workload remains in his favor, Dobbins will face a tough matchup in Week 12 against the Steelers.

Impacted by Ingram return
Dobbins had five carries for 13 yards against the Patriots and added a one-yard reception.
ANALYSIS
Mark Ingram's return muddled the backfield rotation Sunday and Dobbins production was impacted as a result. He played fewer than 50 percent of the snaps for the first time since Week 6 and his carries dropped to the single digits for the first time since then as well. Dobbins has just one game with over 50 yards and has not scored a touchdown since the season opener. With Ingram back, Dobbins may be ticketed for frustrating workloads down the stretch.

Held in check by Colts
Dobbins carried the ball 12 times for 30 yards and caught both his targets for five yards in Sunday's 24-10 win over the Colts.
ANALYSIS
The Ravens' ground attack as a whole averaged only 2.9 yards a carry on the afternoon, but unlike Lamar Jackson and Gus Edwards, Dobbins wasn't able to boost his production with a touchdown. The rookie's workload in Week 10 will largely depend on whether Mark Ingram (ankle) is ready to rejoin the lineup.

Should help fill in for Ingram
Dobbins and Gus Edwards are expected to take on elevated roles Sunday in Indianapolis with Mark Ingram (ankle) listed as doubtful for the contest, Daniel Oyefusi of The Baltimore Sun reports.
ANALYSIS
While Ingram was sidelined during last week's loss to the Steelers, both Dobbins and Edwards enjoyed productive days while splitting the backfield work. Dobbins and Edwards both received 16 touches apiece, but the former played 54 snaps and accrued 121 yards from scrimmage, while the latter played 26 and put up 87 yards. Though Edwards should remain heavily involved in the Ravens' ground attack Week 10, Dobbins' ability to contribute both as a ballcarrier and as a pass catcher gives him the greater fantasy upside of the two backs.

Breakout day against Steelers
Dobbins registered 113 rushing yards on 15 carries, adding one catch for eight yards during Sunday's 28-24 loss to Pittsburgh.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins hadn't been handed more than nine carries in a game this season entering Sunday, but with Mark Ingram inactive (ankle) the rookie churned out more than double his previous career high in rushing yardage (48). Both Dobbins and Gus Edwards enjoyed success on the ground against Pittsburgh's stout front seven, splitting the carries 16-15 and racking up a combined 200 yards. Ingram only has two games with more than 35 rushing yards this season, but it's likely the reigning Pro Bowler regains some share of the workload once he's able to get back in the fold. That return may not come next Sunday either, as Ingram been diagnosed with a high-ankle sprain -- an injury that often requires a multi-week recovery. Week 9 presents a challenging matchup regardless of who is shouldering the RB carries, as Baltimore heads into a showdown with the Colts' third-ranked rush defense.

Could see larger opportunity
Dobbins carried nine times for 28 yards and caught two of four targets for one additional yard during Sunday's 30-28 win over the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins' stats were nothing to write home about but Mark Ingram left the game with an ankle injury, opening the door for the rookie to take on double-digit touches for the first time in his young career. The extent of Ingram's injury remains to be seen, but he will have an extra week to heal as the Ravens go on bye before returning to face the Steelers in Week 8. If the veteran is forced to miss any action, Dobbins and Gus Edwards would both stand to benefit from a fantasy perspective, though the team seems likely to continue its backfield-by-committee approach.

Garners four touches in Week 5
Dobbins carried once for 34 yards and caught all three of his targets for 21 yards Sunday in the Ravens' 27-3 win over the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
Even with the Ravens controlling the game from start to finish, coach John Harbaugh elected not to find more work for the rookie, whose 18 snaps were fewer than fellow running backs Gus Edwards (25) and Mark Ingram (19). Dobbins was efficient with his opportunities and is now averaging 7.9 yards per carry and 7.3 yards per target on the season, but he shouldn't be counted on to see his role dramatically increase in the near future. So long as Ingram, Edwards and Dobbins are all healthy, the Ravens seem content to roll out a three-man backfield committee, which caps the fantasy upside of all parties.

Minimal impact Sunday
Dobbins had five carries for 16 yards and one catch for two yards Sunday against the Football Team.
ANALYSIS
The rookie was more involved than he had been in recent weeks, seeing more than two carries for the first time since the season opener. Still, it was just five carries for Dobbins on 21 snaps while Lamar Jackson, Mark Ingram and Gus Edwards all saw at least seven attempts. Edwards' rushes seem to be coming at Dobbins' expense as he has out-carried Dobbins in three straight weeks. It's no longer just that Baltimore's deep running back rotation puts a cap on Dobbins' carry ceiling, it's also that Dobbins may be at the bottom of the pecking order for carries right now. The Ravens host the Bengals in Week 5.

Leads team in receiving
Dobbins rushed once for six yards and caught all four of his targets for 38 yards in Monday night's 34-20 loss to the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins saw next to no involvement on the ground as Baltimore trailed for most of the game, resulting in all three of the team's tailbacks finishing with under 40 rushing yards. To his credit, though, Dobbins made an impact through the air, actually leading the Ravens in receptions and receiving yards. Although his modest totals won't wow anyone, the rookie at least salvaged some production in an awful offensive outing. Furthermore, Week 4's matchup against Washington figures to favor a Baltimore rebound, which could offer more opportunities to the team's backfield.

Low usage Sunday
Dobbins had two carries for 48 yards Sunday against the Texans. He added one 13-yard reception on one target.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins' usage was surprisingly low Sunday after his impressive two-touchdown debut in Week 1. He played 20 snaps, which the same amount as Gus Edwards, but Edwards had 10 carries for a team-high 73 yards. The Ravens have deployed a fairly even backfield rotation thus far with Mark Ingram leading the way with 48 percent of the snap share while Dobbins has played 43 percent of the snaps and Edwards checking in at 35 percent. Dobbins did not see his first carry until midway through the third quarter. The rookie has plenty of talent, but consistent volume could be hard to come by with the Ravens using such a deep running back rotation, not to mention Lamar Jackson's contributions to the run game as well.

Scores twice in NFL debut
Dobbins ran for 22 yards and two touchdowns on seven rush attempts during Sunday's 38-6 win against the Browns.
ANALYSIS
Veteran Mark Ingram may have garnered 10 of Baltimore's 21 running back carries, but Dobbins was the benefactor of the ever-valuable goal-line carry, scoring on touchdown plunges of two and three yards during Sunday's contest. Ingram was handed two red-zone carries after ranking 10th in the category during 2019, but Dobbins handled both of Baltimore's RB rush attempts within the 5-yard line. If Dobbins can gradually overtake Ingram for first-team snaps, he has potential to become a fantasy superstar for a Ravens offense that last year set the NFL record in team rushing yards (3,296). Heading into Week 2, Dobbins and Ingram are expected to split reps against a Texans defense that surrendered 166 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown to Kansas City on Thursday night.

Should have Week 1 role
Dobbins should be active for Sunday's game against Cleveland, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The Ravens' PR staff put Dobbins fourth on the depth chart, which led to a bit of concern that the rookie might be lightly used -- or even inactive -- in the season opener. Zrebiec says he'd be "shocked" if Dobbins is a healthy scratch, adding that the depth chart posted on the team website means nothing. The longtime Ravens beat writer also mentions that Dobbins has seen a lot of practice reps on special teams, alleviating one potential source of concern. Mark Ingram is still expected to be the starter, but it sounds like Dobbins will mix in for some touches out of the backfield.

Listed at bottom of depth chart
Dobbins is listed as the No. 4 running back on Baltimore's depth chart.
ANALYSIS
Fellow 2020 draft pick Patrick Queen is listed as a starter at inside linebacker, so it can't be said that the Ravens are universally deferring to veterans on their initial depth chart. However, reports from training camp suggested Dobbins was both busy and impressive on the practice field, and coach John Harbaugh said last week that he expects the rookie to have a significant role on offense. In all likelihood, Dobbins is still in line to take some carries Week 1 against the Browns, presumably mixing in behind starter Mark Ingram. Just to be safe, fantasy managers should check back Sunday morning after inactive lists are released, as there's a decent chance Baltimore will have one of its four running backs among the healthy scratches. Gus Edwards and Justice Hill are the other options, but it is possible Dobbins could be the scratch if the offensive gameplan revolves around Ingram while the other two guys are scheduled for significant work on special teams. Either way, Ingram is the smarter fantasy choice fo

Gearing up for Week 1 role
Coach John Harbaugh said Tuesday that he expects Dobbins to have a significant role on offense, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Harbaugh generally lets his coordinators and position coaches make decisions on playing time, but there's no doubt he has a pretty good idea how things will break down. While Mark Ingram is expected to remain the starter, it's certainly possible Dobbins gets more work than Gus Edwards did last season. Everything coming out of training camp on the second-round pick has been positive, including reports on his work as a pass catcher. It's hard to say if Dobbins will get five carries or 15 in the season opener against Cleveland, but it does seem pretty clear he'll be involved in the offense.

Turning heads as pass-catcher
Dobbins has been impressing as a pass-catcher in training camp, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The rookie out of Ohio State has been making highlight-reel worthy plays on a daily basis, according to Zrebiec, and some of his most impressive work has been in the passing game. Dobbins has made acrobatic catches in the end zone on back-to-back days and seems to be making a smooth transition overall. The Ravens ran the ball a league-high 596 times in the regular season in 2019, and even if Mark Ingram remains the nominal starter at running back, there is room for Dobbins to carve out a significant role in this offense. And given the early camp impressions, it seems Dobbins is primed to make the most out of those opportunities.

Envisioned as three-down back
GM Eric DeCosta indicated Wednesday that he foresees Dobbins as a "three-down back," Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Dobbins may not immediately fill that three-down role as a rookie in 2020 with Mark Ingram hanging around, but Ingram's contract would allow the team to part ways with the veteran following the 2020 season should the front office choose to do so. That would clear the path for Dobbins, who would only have to beat out 2019 fourth-round pick Justice Hill and Gus Edwards to lay claim to a full workload. In a highly explosive Ravens offense, that could position Dobbins as a yearly fantasy stud.
