Takes down QB in Week 10 loss
Sweat recorded one tackle (which was a full sack), one forced fumble and one recovered fumble in Sunday's loss to Seattle.
ANALYSIS
All of Sweat's statistical output came on one play in the third quarter when he sacked Sam Darnold, forcing the QB to fumble in Seattle territory. Sweat recovered the ball himself, but the Cardinals turned the ball over on downs on their subsequent drive. Sweat is up to 8.0 sacks through nine contests, matching the total he recorded over 16 games last year.

Secures two sacks in loss
Sweat recorded four total tackles (three solo), including 2.0 sacks, while also adding a pass defensed in Sunday's 22-21 loss to the Titans.
ANALYSIS
Sweat extended his sack streak to four games in a row Sunday, getting to Cam Ward twice in the second quarter. The 28-year-old has now compiled 12 total tackles (nine solo), including 5.0 sacks, while also notching two forced fumbles and a pass defensed over five games this year.

Gets to QB in Week 4 loss
Sweat notched two tackles, including 1.0 sacks, and forced a fumble Sunday in a loss to the Seahawks.
ANALYSIS
Sweat brought down Sam Darnold on the first offensive play of the second half, which led to a Darnold fumble. However, Seattle was able to recover and ultimately ended the drive with a field goal. Through four games this season, Sweat has posted 3.0 sacks and two forced fumbles as he's been a disruptive force in the backfield.
Sep 9, 2025
Records one tackle in victory
Sweat recorded just one tackle (one solo) and one QB hit in Arizona's 20-13 win over the Saints on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Sweat signed a massive four-year, $76.4 million deal with the Cardinals back in March after he had a big Super Bowl performance with the Eagles, nothing 2.5 sacks against the Chiefs. The Cardinals are banking on Sweat keying their pass rush in 2025. He'll look to get going in Week 2 against Bryce Young and the Panthers.
Mar 10, 2025
Gets new deal in desert
Sweat is in line to sign a four-year, $76.4 million contract with the Cardinals, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Sweat cashes out on the open market following an impressive 2024 campaign with the Eagles, one capped by his 2.5-sack performance during the team's Super Bowl LIX win over the Chiefs. He's now totaled 6.0 or more sacks in five consecutive seasons and will provide a much needed boost to Arizona's defensive front. The 8.0 sacks Sweat notched during the 2024 regular season would've led the Cardinals defense, in which Zaven Collins finished No. 1 with just 5.0 sacks.
Feb 16, 2025
Totals eight sacks in 2024
Sweat registered 41 tackles (27 solo), including eight sacks, and two pass defenses across 16 regular-season appearances. He tallied 10 stops (five solo), including 2.5 sacks, across four postseason contests.
ANALYSIS
Sweat logged his second-most sacks in a season, falling three shy of his career-best 2022 campaign. This increased production came despite playing about 200 fewer defensive snaps than he did in 2023 when he played 17 regular-season games. The seven-year vet signed a one-year, $10 million deal to stay with the Eagles in September, and he'll essentially become an unrestricted free agent after this contract voids Feb. 17. Sweat has now totaled 43 sacks across the last six regular season with the Eagles, and he could stand to cash in on the free-agent market ahead of the 2025 campaign.

Back in game
Sweat (ankle) is back in Sunday's game against the Commanders, Zach Berman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Sweat went down with an ankle injury and was forced out of the game in the second quarter. The starting linebacker has now returned to the outing which bodes well for the severity of the injury.
Dec 22, 2024
Leaves game with ankle injury
Sweat suffered an ankle injury and is questionable to return against the Commanders, Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
ANALYSIS
Sweat went down with an ankle injury in the second quarter for Philly's away game. The starting linebacker's absence should give more opportunities to Jalyx Hunt and Charles Harris as long as he's sidelined.
Nov 7, 2024
Practices in full Thursday
Sweat (hip) was listed as a full practice participant on Thursday's injury report.
ANALYSIS
Sweat was limited by a hip issue during Wednesday's practice, but it doesn't appear to be severe as he was able to practice in full Thursday. Unless he suffers a setback, Sweat should be good to go against the Cowboys on Sunday. Through eight regular-season games, Sweat has logged 19 tackles (12 solo), including 5.0 sacks, and two pass breakups.
Nov 6, 2024
Picks up hip injury
Sweat (hip) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Sweat played 41 defensive snaps and recorded five total tackles, including 2.0 sacks, in Philadelphia's Week 9 win over the Jaguars; however, it appears he picked up a hip injury in the process. The veteran pass rusher will likely still play in the Eagles' Week 10 matchup against the Cowboys unless he downgrades to a DNP either Thursday or Friday.
Nov 4, 2024
Blows up backfield in win
Sweat recorded five tackles (three solo), including 2.0 sacks and two tackles for losses, and a pass defensed in Sunday's 28-23 win over the Jaguars.

Records first sack Sunday
Sweat notched a sack for his only tackle in Sunday's Week 4 loss to Tampa Bay.
ANALYSIS
Sweat's sack of Baker Mayfield late in the third quarter resulted in a two-yard loss. It was Sweat's first sack of the campaign, though he's been on the field plenty, having logged over half of the Eagles' defensive snaps in each of the team's first four games. Sweat is looking to extend a four-year streak of recording at least 6.0 sacks.
Mar 15, 2024
Restructures deal
The Eagles restructured Sweat's contract ahead of the 2024 season Friday, Cayden Steele of NJ.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The 26-year-old defensive end's restructured contract allows him to make up to $13 million in 2024, with $10 million guaranteed, per Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com. Sweat saw a dip in production last season compared to the previous two years, but he was still fairly impactful nonetheless. The Florida State product appeared in all 17 of the Eagles' regular-season outings, logging 43 total tackles, including 6.5 sacks. Sweat is expected to remain one of the most productive players on Philadelphia's defense in 2024.
Jan 20, 2024
Second on team with 6.5 sacks
Sweat finished his sixth NFL season with 6.5 sacks (second-best on the Eagles) and 43 tackles in 17 regular-season games.
ANALYSIS
Sweat was a larger part of the Eagles' defensive-end rotation this season, as his 71 percent snap share was a big jump over his 56 percent mark from last season. His numbers took a step back despite the extra opportunities, however, as he couldn't come close to matching his 11.0 sacks from 2022. That's largely due to a late-season slump, as Sweat had 5.5 sacks through nine games but didn't manage another until Week 18.
Oct 24, 2023
Two sacks in win
Sweat logged two tackles (two solo), which were both sacks, in Philadelphia's 31-17 win against the Dolphins on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Sweat recorded two of the Eagles' four sacks of Tua Tagovailoa on Sunday, as he helped slow down the NFL's highest scoring offense. The 2018 fourth-round pick is on pace to set a new career high for sacks and currently has 5.5 through seven games.
Oct 17, 2023
Gets to the quarterback Sunday
Sweat recorded two tackles (two solo) including a sack in Sunday's 20-14 loss at the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Sweat registered a sack for the third time in Philadelphia's last five games Sunday after beating left tackle Mekhi Becton with a sweet swim move. He should continue to play a major role on the edge for the Eagles in Week 7 versus the Dolphins.
Sep 23, 2023
Cleared for Monday
Sweat (toe) was a full participant in Saturday's practice and will play in Monday's matchup against the Buccaneers.
ANALYSIS
Sweat popped up on Thursday's injury report after logging in a limited session. He's continued to be a formidable force for the Eagles' defensive front and has registered three tackles (one solo), 1.5 sacks, six QB hits and a forced fumble through two games this year.
Sep 21, 2023
Limited on Thursday
Sweat (toe) was limited in Thursday's practice.
ANALYSIS
It's a new injury for the 26-year-old, but the limited session puts him on the right track for Monday night's Week 3 date with the Bucs. Sweat has six QB hits, 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble through two games to begin the year.
Jan 17, 2023
Not listed on injury report
Sweat isn't listed on the Eagles' injury report Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Sweat was sidelined for the regular-season finale due to a neck injury he suffered in Week 17, but the Eagles' wild-card bye proved to be beneficial. The veteran defensive end's omission from the injury report suggests he's put the issue behind him and should be full go for Saturday's divisional-round matchup against the Giants. Sweat posted a career-high 11 sacks this season and is a key piece of Philadelphia's vaunted defensive front.
Jan 6, 2023
Ruled out for Week 18
Sweat (neck) has been ruled out for Sunday's matchup against the Giants, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports.
ANALYSIS
Sweat was deemed day-to-day after being released from the hospital Sunday, but he'll ultimately be sidelined for at least one contest due to a neck injury he suffered in Week 17. The severity of the issue remains unclear, but the defensive end said on Twitter earlier this week that he plans to return prior to the end of the season.
Jan 2, 2023
Considered day-to-day
Sweat (neck) is being evaluated on a day-to-day basis after being released from the hospital Sunday, Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
Coach Nick Sirianni didn't offer much information regarding Sweat's recovery Monday, but the defensive lineman recently said on Twitter that he plans to return prior to the end of the season. His status for Sunday's game against the Giants will likely come into focus based on how much he's able to practice this week.
Jan 1, 2023
Should leave hospital tonight
Sweat (neck) is expected to be discharged from the hospital Sunday night, Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
ANALYSIS
Sweat's admittance into the hospital was believed to be precautionary, after he suffered a neck injury in Sunday's loss to the Saints. He was able to move his extremities after the hit, but he was still stretchered off the field. His ability to leave the hospital will certainly be great news for Sweat and Eagles.
Jan 1, 2023
Taken to hospital
Sweat was transported to a local hospital after suffering a neck injury in Sunday's game against the Saints.
ANALYSIS
Sweat does have movement in all of his extremities, so his trip to the hospital is likely precautionary. The injury occurred on an attempted tackle of Adam Prentice, which saw Sweat lunge head first into Prentice's side. Brandon Graham is now the only healthy pass rusher active for the Eagles on Sunday.
Dec 20, 2022
Posts two sacks Sunday
Sweat recorded six tackles (five solo), including two sacks, during Sunday's 25-20 win over Chicago.
ANALYSIS
Sweat his hot streak of bringing down opposing quarterbacks, recording both of his sacks on just one drive in the fourth quarter. The fifth-year defensive end has been a key component of the Eagles' top-ranked pass rush, recording a career-high 9.5 sacks over 14 games this season as well as six over the last four weeks. Sweat should have a chance to continue adding to this impressive total as the Cowboys are forced to devote attention across the Eagles' deep defensive line.
Dec 6, 2022
Picks up two sacks
Sweat recorded four tackles (two solo) and two sacks in Sunday's 35-10 victory over the Titans.
ANALYSIS
Sweat has now recorded four sacks in his last four games and has 6.5 on the season. The 25-year-old did his damage on just 27 defensive snaps (49 percent). He will look to stay hot when the Eagles travel to New York for their Week 14 matchup with the Giants.
May 24, 2022
Back to full strength
Sweat (illness) is now 100 percent after being rushed to the hospital due to having an artery open up in January, Jimmy Kempski of PhillyVoice.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Sweat missed the Eagles' playoff game against the Buccaneers in January after undergoing an emergency procedure due to a serious medical matter. Details of what the issue was were unknown at the time, but Sweat has since healed and believes he could have played the next week if they had a game. The four-year pro set career highs across the board last season and figures to be an integral part of the Eagles' defensive line next season.
Jan 31, 2022
Career-best season in 2021
Sweat (illness) totaled 45 tackles (19 solo), 7.5 sacks, a forced fumble and four pass defenses in 16 games during the 2021 season.
ANALYSIS
Sweat recorded career-best marks in tackles, sacks and pass defenses despite missing the Eagles' regular-season finale and wild-card loss. Although the 24-year-old took a step forward in 2021, he underwent an emergency procedure to address a serious medical matter in early January, so his offseason availability isn't yet clear.
Jan 16, 2022
Won't play Sunday
Sweat (illness) is inactive for Sunday' playoff game against the Buccaneers.
ANALYSIS
Per Adam Schefter of ESPN, Sweat underwent an emergency procedure Tuesday to address a serious medical matter. Though the report notes that Sweat improved every day to the point that he came close to playing Sunday, he wasn't quite ready to suit up. In the pass rusher's absence, Ryan Kerrigan, Milton Williams and Tarron Jackson are candidates to see added snaps.
Jan 14, 2022
Questionable for Sunday
Sweat (illness) is questionable for Sunday's contest against the Buccaneers, Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
ANALYSIS
Sweat was inactive for the Eagles' regular season finale with an illness, and it appears he hasn't shaken the aliment yet. Zangaro reports that the fourth-year defensive end continues to have abdominal pain due to the illness, but he was able to return to team facilities Friday, which is a step in the right direction. If he's unable to suit up for the wild-card matchup against Tampa Bay, Ryan Kerrigan would likely be the next man up.
Jan 8, 2022
Inactive Saturday
Sweat (coach's decision) is inactive Saturday against the Cowboys.
ANALYSIS
Sweat will get the night off, since the Eagles have a playoff spot already locked up. Ryan Kerrigan will likely see an increase in opportunity against the Cowboys.
Dec 8, 2021
Leads Eagles in sacks
Sweat logged three tackles (one solo) and 1.5 sacks in Sunday's 33-18 win over the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Sweat hasn't been very productive in the tackles column recently, but he reached the quarterback for the first time since Week 8 during Sunday's victory. Across the last five games, he's totaled just seven tackles (three solo) and 1.5 sacks.
Nov 14, 2021
Playing against Denver
Sweat (concussion) is active for Sunday's game against the Broncos, according to Tim McManus of ESPN.com.
ANALYSIS
Having Sweat as active isn't surprising, as he was widely expected to clear the concussion protocol in the buildup to this game. This means Ryan Kerrigan will revert to a reserve role, with Sweat taking most of the snaps at defensive end.
Nov 12, 2021
Expects to play Sunday
Sweat (concussion) is listed as questionable but is expected to clear concussion protocols and play in Week 10 against the Broncos,Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Nov 11, 2021

Nov 2, 2021

ANALYSIS
Sweat played only 28 defensive snaps in the blowout win but made his time on the field could with his first multi-sack performance of 2021. He has 27 tackles (10 solo), 3.5 sacks and one pass defensed through eight games.
Sep 18, 2021
Inks extension
Sweat and the Eagles have agreed on a three-year, $40 million extension, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
The deal will keep Sweat in Philadelphia throughout the 2024 season. The fourth-year defensive end drew rave reviews from teammates throughout training camp and is expected to be a breakout candidate in 2021. He recorded six sacks in 2020 while playing just 38 percent of defensive snaps.
Aug 27, 2021
Breakout on tap?
Sweat has been one of the stars of training camp, Martin Frank of Delaware News Journal reports.
ANALYSIS
Coming off a season in which he logged six sacks while playing just 38 percent of defensive snaps, Sweat was already looking at more playing time before Derek Barnett came down with a shoulder injury. The fourth-year vet has drawn rave reviews from his teammates all preseason and could be in line for a breakout in 2021.
Feb 5, 2021
Best season of career
Sweat (wrist) had 38 tackles (24 solo), six sacks, two defensed passes and three forced fumbles across 14 games in 2020.
ANALYSIS
Sweat managed career-high marks across the board before landing on IR due to a wrist injury Week 15. He was expected to return in the event of an Eagles postseason run, however, which should mean good things for his chances of being ready for the (tentative) start of offseason workouts. He'll be entering the final year of his rookie deal in 2021.
Dec 26, 2020
Goes to injured reserve
Sweat (wrist) was placed on injured reserve Saturday.
ANALYSIS
The 2018 fourth-round draft choice contributed two sacks against the Saints as Philadelphia pulled off a Week 14 upset, but he had to exit in the first quarter of last Sunday's loss to Arizona. Now confirmed out for three games given his IR designation, Sweat won't make another appearance this season unless the Eagles reach the playoffs.
Dec 23, 2020
Set to miss a few weeks
Sweat (wrist) will not suit up against the Cowboys on Sunday and is expected to miss multiple weeks, James Palmer of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Sweat appears to be in danger of missing the final two games of the regular season, but it sounds like his injury is something that could allow him to return for the playoffs, in the event that the Eagles make it to the postseason. Genard Avery and Vinny Curry will both be candidates for increased roles as long as Sweat remains sidelined.
Dec 20, 2020
Injured wrist Sunday
Sweat was forced out of Sunday's game versus the Cardinals with a wrist injury.
ANALYSIS
Sweat went directly to the locker room in the first quarter, possibly to undergo an X-ray. The third-year defensive end is a fierce pass rusher with six sacks this season. Vinny Curry likely will see an uptick in usage behind starter Brandon Gram and Derek Barnett moving forward.
Dec 15, 2020
Two sacks on Sunday
Sweat recorded five tackles (four solo), two sacks and a forced fumble across 25 defensive snaps in Sunday's win over the Saints.
ANALYSIS
Sweat caused headaches for Taysom Hill all day, taking down the quarterback during the contests, one of which resulted in a fumble that was recovered by the Eagles. He is now third on the team in sacks with six to go along with 38 tackles (24 solo) on the year.
Oct 6, 2020
Notches third sack
Sweat had two tackles and a sack during Sunday's 25-20 win over the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
Sweat played a season-low 37 percent of defensive snaps Sunday, but that didn't stop him from adding to his sack total. The 23-year-old has 10 tackles (seven solo), three sacks and one forced fumble through Week 4.
Jan 22, 2020
Flashes pass-rushing ability
Sweat recorded 21 tackles, four sacks and a pass breakup over 16 regular-season games in 2019.
ANALYSIS
In his second pro season, Sweat displayed a strong pass-rushing presence with 15 quarterback pressures. The 22-year-old logged 355 defensive snaps, barely trailing Vinny Curry (398), although both were in reserve roles behind Brandon Graham and Derek Barnett. Curry will be a free agent in March while both Graham and Barnett are under contract in 2020, so Sweat will likely work in a pass-rushing role again next year.
Aug 19, 2019
Back at practice
Sweat (knee) returned to practice Monday, Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
ANALYSIS
Sweat sat out Sunday's practice due to an undisclosed knee injury and now appears back to full health. The second-year pro is competing for a rotational role in Philadelphia's defense.
Aug 18, 2019
Out for Sunday's practice
Sweat was unable to participate in Sunday's practice and is considered day-to-day with a knee injury, Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
ANALYSIS
It's unclear how Sweat picked up the injury, but it's likely that it's nothing serious, as evidenced by his day-to-day designation. Expect the team to give a clearer picture on Sweat's status in the coming days leading up to Thursday's preseason game. With the Florida State product out, Eli Harold could see an increase in reps.
