Secures sack in loss
Williams recorded five total tackles (four solo), including 1.0 sacks, while also adding a forced fumble in Sunday's 34-32 loss to the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Williams broke through the Steelers' offensive line to sack Aaron Rodgers in the first quarter, and he later added a forced fumble on a tackle he made on running back Kenneth Gainwell, but Gainwell recovered the ball. The defensive lineman compiled just 37 total tackles (25 solo) in 2024, which represented his lowest total since his rookie campaign in 2019. Williams will look to build off of his Week 1 performance when the Jets travel to face the Bills in Week 2.

Returns to practice
Williams (calf) returned to practice Tuesday, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams missed nearly two weeks of action during training camp, including the Jets' preseason opener against Green Bay last week, but he's back healthy and looking to rebound from a down 2024 campaign that saw Williams record just 37 tackles (25 solo), including 6.0 sacks.
Aug 1, 2025
Considered week-to-week
Jets coach Aaron Glenn said Friday that Williams (calf) will be sidelined for "a week or two," Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams hobbled off the field Thursday and will now be sidelined for the next several practices. Jay Tufele, Byron Cowart and Phidarian Mathis will be next up for snaps with the first-team defense alongside Derrick Nnadi.
Jul 31, 2025
Dealing with calf issue
Williams suffered a calf injury during Thursday's practice, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The severity of the injury is unknown, but he was injured during individual drills and went inside for the remainder of Thursday's session. Williams was named to his third consecutive Pro Bowl last season after logging 37 tackles (25 solo), including 6.0 sacks, across 16 regular-season contests. Some may have considered it a down season for the 27-year-old after posting 12.0 sacks two seasons prior.
Jul 29, 2025
Past hamstring injury
Williams (hamstring) has been participating in training camp practices, Zachary Weinberger of ClutchPoints reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams aggravated a hamstring injury during the Jets' 2024 regular-season finale against the Dolphins, but he has been a full participant in practices to start training camp. The seventh-year defensive tackle out of Alabama has logged 11.5 sacks over the past two seasons and will anchor the Jets' defensive front that includes Will McDonald, Derrick Nnadi and Jermaine Johnson (Achilles).
Jan 5, 2025
Aggravates hamstring in Week 18
Williams suffered a hamstring injury in Sunday's 32-20 win over the Dolphins.
ANALYSIS
Williams has been dealing with a hamstring injury for weeks but was able to suit up through a questionable tag for the Week 18 finale despite not practicing at all during the week. Prior to leaving against Miami, Williams merely recorded one QB hit. He finishes the 2024 campaign with 37 tackles (25 solo), including 6.0 sacks, and 18 QB hits across 16 appearances. It was a bit of a down year for the 27-year-old in what proved to be a disappointing season for the Jets as a whole. Williams has three years left on a four-year, $96 million extension and is signed through 2027.
Jan 5, 2025
Will play against Miami
Williams (hamstring) is active for Sunday's game against the Dolphins.
ANALYSIS
Williams was unable to practice all week due to a hamstring injury, but he feels good enough to play in Sunday's regular-season finale. The 2019 first-round pick will look to register his first sack since Week 11 against the Colts.
Jan 3, 2025
Questionable for Week 18
Williams (hamstring) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Dolphins, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams logged a trio of DNPs in practice this week and has been battling the hamstring ailment for a few weeks. He was inactive for Week 16 but returned last Sunday against the Bills, playing a reduced role. With the Jets' season all but over, it's fair to wonder if the team will opt to simply sit Williams for the meaningless finale. Williams has 37 tackles (25 solo), including eight TFLs and 6.0 sacks, and 17 QB hits across 15 games this season.
Dec 29, 2024
Playing Sunday vs. Buffalo
Williams (hamstring) is active for Sunday's game against the Bills.
ANALYSIS
Williams didn't play against the Rams in Week 16 due to a hamstring injury. He was a limited participant in practice all week, but he's done enough in his recovery to be cleared to play Sunday. Williams will start alongside Javon Kinlaw at defensive tackle while Leonard Taylor, Solomon Thomas and Bruce Hector serve in rotational roles.
Dec 25, 2024
Listed as limited participant
Williams (hamstring) was estimated as a limited participant in the Jets' practice report Wednesday, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports..
ANALYSIS
Williams missed practice throughout all of last week leading to his absence in the team's Week 16 loss to the Rams but appears to be nearing his return. His status in practice on Thursday and Friday will provide more clarity about his availability for Sunday's matchup versus the Bills.
Dec 22, 2024
Inactive Sunday
Williams (hamstring) is listed as inactive for Sunday's game versus the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Williams was unable to practice all week, but he still ultimately drew a questionable designation. Unsurprisingly, he will not be able to give it a go. In his absence, Solomon Thomas, Bruce Hector and Leonard Taylor are candidates to fill in at defensive tackle next to Javon Kinlaw.
Dec 20, 2024
Could play in Week 16
Williams (hamstring) is listed as questionable ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Rams, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Despite logging three consecutive DNPs during the Jets' week of practice, Williams still has a chance to suit up in Week 16. He would be a significant loss to the Jets' defense if he's unable to play Sunday, having recorded 35 total tackles, including 6.0 sacks, through 14 games this season. Solomon Thomas is likely to step in and start alongside Javon Kinlaw on the Jets' defensive line if Williams is sidelined Sunday.
Dec 18, 2024
Not practicing Wednesday
Williams (hamstring) will not practice Wednesday, Brian Costello of the New York Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams suffered a hamstring injury during New York's win over the Jaguars in Week 15, in which he logged just one solo tackle while playing 68 percent of defensive snaps. The standout defensive tackle will have two more chances to get back on the practice field prior to Sunday's game against the Rams.
Dec 16, 2024
Suffers injury in win
Williams suffered a hamstring injury during Sunday's win over the Jaguars, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams will need further evaluation before any potential timeline is given for his return. The veteran defensive tackle has been somewhat of an ironman, only missing one game in the last three seasons. Clarity on his status for Week 16 against the Rams should come when the team releases its first practice report.
Nov 18, 2024
Gets in backfield in loss
Williams recorded seven tackles (five solo), including 1.0 sacks and an additional tackle for a loss, in Sunday's 28-27 loss to the Colts.
ANALYSIS
The defensive tackle also played on 72 percent of the defensive snaps. Williams has 32 tackles (22 solo), including 6.0 sacks, on the year.
Oct 28, 2024
Back in sack column Sunday
Williams recorded three tackles (two solo) including 1.5 sacks during Sunday's 25-22 loss at New England.
ANALYSIS
Williams was a serious problem for the Patriots' rickety offensive line throughout the afternoon, and it manifested in the box score for his third sack of the season. He'll look to carry his momentum into Week 9 versus the Texans, though his position generally makes him a better real-life asset than he is an IDP play.
Oct 15, 2024
Logs second sack of season Monday
Williams logged three tackles (two solo), including 1.0 sacks, during Monday's 23-20 loss to the Bills.
ANALYSIS
Williams got to Josh Allen midway through the fourth quarter for a sack, and the Jets were able to hold the line on the next play to force the Bills to kick a 22-yard field goal. Williams is now up to 2.0 sacks on the season, which is third-most on the Jets behind Will McDonald (7.5) and Micheal Clemons (2.5).
Sep 20, 2024
Gets to Brissett on Thursday
Williams registered two solo tackles, including 1.0 sacks, in Thursday's 24-3 win over the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
Williams sacked Jacoby Brissett for a 12-yard loss midway through the third-quarter, which forced the Patriots to punt on the next play. It was Williams' first sack of the year, and he'll look to improve on his 5.5 sacks from the 2023 regular season. The 2019 first-round pick will look to disrupt the Broncos' offensive line in Week 4.
Sep 5, 2024
Absent from injury report
Williams (shoulder) was left off the Jets' injury report Thursday, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams had been dealing with a shoulder since mid-August, but he was not listed on the Jets' first injury report of the week Thursday and will be good to go for Monday's game against the 49ers. The 2019 first-round pick will anchor the Jets' defensive line alongside Javon Kinlaw, Jermaine Johnson and Micheal Clemons.
Aug 15, 2024
Dealing with shoulder issue
Williams missed practice Thursday with a shoulder injury, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Coach Robert Saleh said he's not concerned about Williams, so it doesn't sound like a long-term issue. Williams made all 17 starts in 2023, but his sack total dipped from 12 to 5.5 from the previous year. Williams will be looking to get after the quarterback more this season in what is still a strong Jets defense.
Jan 14, 2024
Just 5.5 sacks in 2023
Williams finished the 2023 season with 5.5 sacks among his 62 tackles (39 solo) while adding an interception among his three passes defensed.
ANALYSIS
Even with 2.0 sacks in the season finale against the Patriots, Williams finished with his lowest total in that category since his 2.5-sack rookie season in 2019. The standout defensive tackle was named to the Pro Bowl nonetheless, as Williams set a new career high in tackles and picked up his first interception in the Week 6 win over the Eagles. Williams' presence on the interior frees up the team's pass rushers on the edge, and the engine that drives New York's defense will be back in 2024.
Dec 11, 2023
Logs third sack of 2023
Williams recorded three tackles (two solo), including a sack, in Sunday's 30-6 win over the Texans.
ANALYSIS
Williams finished the game with two quarterback hits, the second of which knocked C.J. Stroud out of the game with a concussion in the fourth quarter. There was nothing malicious about the hit, but the massive difference in size between the 303-pound defensive tackle and the 218-pound quarterback led to Stroud falling back and hitting his head on the turf. Earlier in the game, Williams sacked Stroud in the third quarter, raising his season total to three sacks.
Nov 20, 2023
Doubles season sack total
Williams had six tackles (two solo), including a sack, in Sunday's 32-6 loss to Buffalo.
ANALYSIS
The sack was one of Williams' two tackles for loss Sunday. Williams has been a disruptive force on the interior with seven tackles for loss despite seeing frequent double teams, but he has just two sacks through 10 games after racking up a career-high 12 sacks last season.
Sep 18, 2023
No sacks through two games
Williams had six tackles (five solo), including two tackles for loss in Sunday's 30-10 loss to Dallas.
ANALYSIS
Williams has three tackles for loss through two games, but he's still searching for his first sack of 2023 after recording 12 sacks last season. The All-Pro defensive tackle logged between 53 and 55 tackles in each of the previous three seasons.
Sep 12, 2023
Recovers fumble in OT win
Williams registered five tackles (two solo) and a fumble recovery in Monday's 22-16 overtime win over the Bills.
ANALYSIS
Williams pounced on a Josh Allen fumble late in the fourth quarter that gave the Jets the ball in opposing territory and led to a 30-yard field goal by Greg Zuerlein. Williams is a key piece to the Jets' defensive front and was rewarded with a four-year, $96 million extension in July after posting a career-best 12 sacks in 2022. Even with the loss of quarterback Aaron Rodgers (Achilles), the Jets' defense should be able to keep games competitive, as seen in their four takeaways and five sacks on Monday. They'll hit the road in Week 2 to face the Cowboys on Sunday.
Jul 13, 2023
Receives four-year, $96M extension
The Jets signed Williams to a four-year, $96 million extension Thursday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
It includes $66 million guaranteed. The $24 million per year in new money makes Williams the NFL's second-highest-paid interior defensive lineman, trailing only Aaron Donald. Williams is coming off a career-best 12 sacks last season and has 27.5 total since being drafted No. 3 overall in 2019. Williams was a first-team All-Pro last year and even finished seventh in Defensive Player of the Year voting. He doesn't turn 26 years old until December and should remain a foundational piece for coach Robert Saleh's defense.
Apr 17, 2023
Not attending voluntary workouts
Williams is skipping the voluntary part of OTAs as he continues to negotiate a new contract, Al Iannazzone of Newsday reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams produced a career-high 12 sacks in 2022, recording 55 total tackles while deflecting four passes, forcing two fumbles and recovering a fumble over 16 contests. As a result of his massive campaign, Williams wants a contract extension ahead of 2023 and has said he will hold out of the voluntary workouts while negotiating.
Jan 11, 2023
Wants extension after 12-sack year
Williams finished the 2022 season with 12.0 sacks, 55 tackles (35 solo), four passes defensed, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery in 16 games.
ANALYSIS
Williams' career high sack total is even more impressive when you consider that he accrued it while rushing from the interior. The Jets picked up his fifth-year option for 2023, but Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports that Williams is hoping to get a long-term deal done by April. Williams can't quite demand Aaron Donald money ($31.7 million per year), but he's the league's premier source of interior pressure after Donald and is seeking to become the second-highest paid defensive tackle at more than $21 million per year.
Dec 23, 2022
Makes early impact in return
Williams (calf) totaled two solo tackles, one sack, one pass defensed and a forced fumble in Thursday's 19-3 loss to the Jaguars.
ANALYSIS
After missing the previous game, Williams made an immediate impact, ending Jacksonville's first drive with a strip-sack of Trevor Lawrence to set the Jets up with an instant red zone opportunity. New York ended up settling for a field goal and it was all Jaguars after that, but Williams' ability to pick up where he left off prior to getting injured is a small silver lining for the Jets. The sack was Williams' 12th in 14 games.
Dec 22, 2022
Good to go for TNF
Williams (calf) has been ruled active ahead of Thursday's game against the Jaguars.
ANALYSIS
Williams will return after a one-game hiatus due to a calf injury. The fourth-year defensive tackle has recorded 47 tackles and a career-high 11 tackles over 13 games this season, so his return will be a major boost alongside fellow starting defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins.
Dec 22, 2022
On track to play Thursday
Williams (calf), who is listed as questionable for Thursday's game against the Jaguars, is in line to play, Connor Hughes of SNY.tv reports.
ANALYSIS
Confirmation on Williams' status will be made available when New York releases its inactive list 90 minutes prior to the 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff. Before missing his first game of the season in last week's loss to the Lions, the standout defensive tackle compiled 47 tackles, 11 sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery through 13 appearances.
Dec 21, 2022
Officially questionable
Williams (calf) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice and is officially listed as questionable for Thursday's matchup against the Jaguars, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Head coach Robert Saleh said Tuesday that Williams would be a game-time decision Thursday, so his questionable designation comes as no surprise, though the 2019 first-round pick's return to full participation Wednesday is certainly an encouraging update. Williams sat out Week 15 due to the calf issue, so his potential return would be a major boost against a budding Jacksonville offense. The defensive tackle has 47 tackles, 11 sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery across 532 defensive snaps this year.
Dec 20, 2022
Will be game-time decision
Head coach Robert Saleh said Tuesday that Williams (calf) will be a game-time decision ahead of Thursday's matchup against Jacksonville, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams sat out Week 15 due to the issue, but Saleh said Williams is trending in the right direction, though the defensive tackle's availability likely won't be known until kickoff. The 2019 first-round pick has 11 sacks this season, so his potential return would be a significant boost to the Jets defense.
Dec 19, 2022
Limited on Monday's estimate
Williams (calf) was a limited participant on Monday's practice estimate.
ANALYSIS
Williams is looking to make his return Thursday against the Jaguars after sitting out the Week 15 loss to Detroit. With the Jets sitting just outside postseason position, the star defensive lineman will do all he can to limit his absence to one game. Williams has been a consistent source of interior pressure with 11.0 sacks this season.
Dec 19, 2022
Gearing up for potential return
Williams (calf) appears likely to be able to return to the field in Week 16 against the Jaguars, Al Iannazzone of Newsday reports.
ANALYSIS
Head coach Robert Saleh said Monday that Williams' "arrow is pointing up" and he has a real shot at playing Thursday versus Jacksonville. The defensive tackle missed his first contest of the year in Week 15 and will look to limit his absence to just one game and return for Week 16.
Dec 18, 2022
Could play Thursday vs. Jaguars
Coach Robert Saleh said Sunday that Williams (calf) has a chance to play Thursday versus Jacksonville, Eric Allen of the Jets' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
After sitting out his first game of the season in Saturday's loss versus Detroit, Williams is apparently truly questionable for Week 16. The budding star's presence would certainly be a welcome one as the Jets prepare to play host to a Jaguars passing attack that's been red hot as of late.
Dec 18, 2022
Confirmed inactive Sunday
Williams (calf) is listed as out for Sunday's game versus Detroit, Rich Cimini of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams will miss his first game of the season as he works to recover from a calf injury he sustained in Week 14 at Buffalo. Nathan Shepherd should see an expanded role on the defensive line in Williams' absence.
Dec 18, 2022
Not expected to play Sunday
Williams (calf) isn't in line to play Sunday against the Lions, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Official confirmation of Williams' status will arrive when the Jets' inactives are announced ahead of Sunday's 1:00 ET kickoff, but the defensive lineman's expected absence represents a hit to his team's pass rush in Week 15.
Dec 18, 2022
Game-time decision for Sunday
Williams (calf) is expected to be a true "game-time decision" ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Lions, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
The report notes Williams will go through a pre-game workout to determine whether he'll be active for Sunday's game or not. The destructive defensive tackle has been a critical part of the Jets' defensive rise throughout 2022 and might be a huge factor in the offensive output of Jared Goff and the Lions, who have been on a tear in recent weeks.
Dec 14, 2022
Not practicing Wednesday
Williams (calf) will not practice Wednesday and his status for Sunday's matchup with the Lions is up in the air, Eric Allen of the Jets' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Head coach Robert Saleh said that Williams will not practice Wednesday and that he has a 50/50 shot at playing in Week 15 against Detroit. The 24-year-old suffered calf injury in the second quarter of the Jets' Week 14 loss to the Bills and could be set to miss his first contest of the year Sunday. If Williams is unavailable, Solomon Thomas is a candidate to see additional usage on the defensive line versus the Lions.
Dec 11, 2022
May make quick recovery
Williams (calf) is day-to-day according to head coach Robert Saleh, Connor Hughes of SNY.tv reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams suffered a calf injury and was unable to return to Sunday's 20-12 loss to the Bills. He was able to record his 10th sack of the season before exiting, and any kind of extended absence would have certainly been a blow to the team's defense. However, it appears he may have a chance to suit up Week 15 against the Lions.
Dec 11, 2022
Done for Week 14
Williams (calf) will not return Sunday against the Bills, Brian Costello of the New York Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams suffered the injury in the second quarter, and he will not return in the second the half. His absence will be a definitive blow to the Jets' defense and especially their pass rush while he is out. Solomon Thomas and Nathan Shepherd should continue to see increased opportunities for the remainder of the game.
Dec 11, 2022
Exits with injury
Williams (calf) is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Bills.
ANALYSIS
Williams went down with an apparent non-contact injury during the second quarter, but he was still able to walk off under his own power before heading into the medical tent, according to Matt Parrino of The Syracuse Post-Standard. The 24-year-old recorded his 10th sack of the season before exiting Sunday's contest, so his absence would be a major loss for the Jets defensive line. With Williams sidelined, expect Solomon Thomas and Nathan Shepherd to step up into bigger roles alongside Sheldon Rankins.
Dec 6, 2022
Dominant performance in defeat
Williams recorded five tackles (four solo), including three tackles for loss and one sack, as well as a pass defended in Sunday's 27-22 loss to the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
Williams posted his ninth sack of the season when he brought down signal-caller Kirk Cousins for an eight-yard loss in the third quarter. He also interrupted a short pass intended for tight end T.J. Hockenson early in the first quarter. The 24-year-old has truly emerged as one of the league's most disruptive defensive linemen this season, as he's already set new career highs in sacks and passes defended (three) through just 12 games played in 2022. Williams will likely need to post another all-around dominant performance to help the Jets come away with their second win of the season against Buffalo in Week 14.
Nov 27, 2022
Quiet in Week 12 win
Williams had one solo tackle and a quarterback hit in Sunday's 31-10 win over the Bears.
ANALYSIS
Williams had his quietest game of the season, but the rest of New York's defense picked up the slack, holding the Bears without a point on their last eight drives. The 2019 first-round pick will look to bounce back in Week 13 against the Vikings.
Nov 20, 2022
Sack total up to career-high eight
Williams had five tackles (three solo) and one sack in Sunday's 10-3 loss to New England.
ANALYSIS
Williams produced one of New York's six sacks of Patriots quarterback Mac Jones. The Jets' defense put forth a heroic effort but the offense and special teams didn't pull their weight, as New York scored only three points and allowed the game-winning touchdown on a punt return in the final minute. Williams' sack bumped his season total to eight, establishing a new career high in his fourth NFL season.
Nov 7, 2022
Sacks Allen in statement win
Williams had two tackles (one solo) and a sack in Sunday's 20-17 win over the Bills.
ANALYSIS
Williams' sack was his seventh of the season, tying his career high mark from 2020. He needed 13 games to reach that total in his second NFL season, but the 2019 third overall pick is enjoying a breakout campaign in his fourth year, having accrued his seven sacks in only nine games.
Oct 31, 2022
Logs another sack Sunday
Williams tallied five tackles (three solo) and one sack during Sunday's 22-17 loss to the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
Williams notched his sixth sack of the season Sunday as he brought down Patriots quarterback Mac Jones for a 10-yard loss in the third quarter. The 24-year-old defensive tackle also logged a season-high 58 defensive snaps, and he also played over 70 percent of the Jets' defensive snaps for the first time in 2022. Williams is now on track to record the first double-digit sack campaign of his career, barring any injuries moving forward.
Oct 16, 2022
Brings down Rodgers twice
Williams totaled five tackles (four solo), two sacks and three quarterback hits in Sunday's 27-10 win over the Packers.
ANALYSIS
The Jets' defense led the way on a slippery Sunday at Lambeau Field. New York's defensive line created pressure throughout, and Williams led the way by sacking Aaron Rodgers twice. Williams is up to five sacks through six games. He briefly exited after getting poked in the eye but was able to return and continue wreaking havoc in the Green Bay backfield.
Oct 3, 2022
Earns sack in win
Williams recorded six tackles (three solo) and a sack in Sunday's 24-20 win over the Steelers.
ANALYSIS
Williams recorded a sack in his third-straight game Sunday, bringing him to a total of 2.5 on the season. He also added another quarterback hit along the way. The 24-year-old's six tackles brings him to 14 on the season. He'll look to keep his sack streak going Sunday against the Dolphins.
Sep 26, 2022
Notches sack in Week 3
Williams (foot) had four tackles (two solo) and a sack in Sunday's 27-12 loss to the Bengals.
ANALYSIS
Williams provided interior pressure on Joe Burrow and brought down the quarterback once, but Burrow frequently eluded the defensive tackle by moving outside the pocket. With 1.5 sacks through three games, Williams is on pace to challenge his 2020 career high of 7.0 sacks.
Sep 25, 2022
Good to go Sunday
Williams (foot) is in line to play Sunday against the Bengals, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams exited last Sunday's game against Cleveland with a foot injury, but he was able to log limited practice sessions on both Wednesday and Thursday, while he practiced in full Friday. He'll remain a starter on the Jets' defensive line during Sunday's contest against the Bengals, whose offensive line has given up a league-high 13 sacks.
Sep 23, 2022
Expected to play Sunday
Williams (foot) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Bengals, but he's expected to play, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams logged back-to-back limited practices after leaving the team's Week 2 win over the Browns due to a foot injury. However, he was a full participant Friday and appears to be trending in the right direction for Sunday. Across the first two games of the season, the fourth-year defensive tackle has recorded four tackles, one pass defense and half a sack across 70 defensive snaps.
Sep 18, 2022
Leaves with injury
Williams (foot) is questionable to return Sunday against the Browns, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams' absence will be felt as a primary piece of the team's defensive line. While he is out, Nathan Shepherd and Jamien Sherwood will likely see increased opportunities.
Mar 2, 2022
Jets exercise fifth-year option
The Jets will exercise Williams' fifth-year option for 2024, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams produced similarly in 2021 compared to his sophomore campaign a year prior, and it's not a major surprise New York will be picking up the option for an additional year. The third overall pick of the 2019 NFL Draft, Williams still has the potential to be a defensive anchor if he can get back on an upward trajectory next season.
Jan 14, 2022
Plateaus in third year
Williams finished with 53 tackles (36 solo), six sacks and three passes defensed in 2021.
ANALYSIS
Williams' production over 15 appearances in his third season was similar to the 55 tackles and seven sacks he posted in two fewer games as a sophomore. The third-overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft hasn't become a dominant force a la Aaron Donald, but Williams is a solid player in his own right. New York will have a decision to make this offseason regarding whether to exercise Williams' fifth-year option for 2023, but he'll be on the team in 2022 regardless.
Jan 5, 2022
Removed from COVID-19 list
The Jets activated Williams (undisclosed) from the reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Williams was dealing with a shoulder issue before landing in the NFL's COVID-19 protocols, but it's unclear how his stint away from the team impacted the injury. The 2019 first-round pick hasn't suited up since Week 15, when he played a season-low 22 defensive snaps due to the shoulder problem. However, when healthy, the defensive tackle has been extremely productive this season, totaling 48 tackles and six sacks across 13 appearances.
Dec 26, 2021
Enters COVID protocols
Williams (undisclosed) was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Williams was already questionable for Sunday against the Jaguars with a shoulder injury, but now that's he on the COVID list he's definitively out. In his absence, Nathan Shepherd will likely step up into the starting role and try to provide a pass rush for the Jets' defensive line.
Dec 20, 2021
May play Week 16
Coach Robert Saleh said Monday that Williams (shoulder) "looks good" and could play Sunday against the Jaguars, Connor Hughes of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams aggravated his shoulder injury during Sunday's loss to the Dolphins and was unable to return, but he may not end up missing additional time. The 24-year-old's participation at practice later this week should provide a better idea regarding his outlook versus Jacksonville.
Dec 19, 2021
Unlikely to return
Williams (shoulder) is doubtful to return Sunday against the Dolphins.
ANALYSIS
Williams came into Sunday dealing with a shoulder injury. Whether this is something new or an aggravation of the injury is unknown. With Williams off the field, Nathan Shepherd should see a healthy amount of snaps, and Jonathan Marshall possibly seeing an uptick as well.
Dec 15, 2021
No limitations Wednesday
Williams (shoulder) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice session, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams underwent an MRI on his shoulder Monday after he sustained an injury in Sunday's loss to the Saints. However, the issue isn't believed to be serious, and the defensive tackle should be able to play through the injury Sunday against Miami.

Expects to play through injury
Williams had an MRI on his shoulder Monday, and he expects to be able to play through the injury, Al Iannazzone of Newsday reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams suffered the injury while making a tackle early in the third quarter of Sunday's loss to the Saints. The third-year pro was able to return to the contest sporting a shoulder harness and finished with three tackles across 34 defensive snaps. If Williams is going to play through the injury, then he will likely have to continuing wearing the harness, but the good news is that it didn't appear to negatively impact his performance.
Dec 12, 2021
Returns to action
Williams (shoulder) has returned to Sunday's game against the Saints, Connor Hughes of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams was injured early in the third quarter while making a tackle. However, he was able to return while wearing a shoulder harness, as reported by Brian Costello of the New York Post.
Dec 12, 2021
Suffers shoulder injury
Williams is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Saints due to a shoulder injury, Andy Vasquez of The Bergen Record reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams brought down Alvin Kamara on a third-down run early in the third quarter, though he appeared to suffer the injury on that play. He was seen walking to the locker room, but no determination has been made as to his availability for the rest of the game. Williams made one stop prior to his exit.
Nov 8, 2021
Effective against Colts
Williams totaled eight tackles (seven solo) in Thursday's 45-30 loss to Indianapolis.
ANALYSIS
Williams was limited to just two tackles in last week's win over Cincinnati, but he racked up a season-high eight tackles against the Colts. Across his three appearances since the Jets' Week 6 bye, he's totaled 14 tackles (13 solo), a sack and a pass defense.
Oct 3, 2021
Leads sack party in upset win
Williams totaled seven tackles (six solo), two sacks and a tackle for loss in Sunday's 27-24 overtime win over the Titans.
ANALYSIS
Williams racked up two of the Jets' seven sacks as the Jets' pass rush feasted against a shaky Titans offensive line. With 3.5 sacks over the last two games, Williams has turned things around dramatically after looking nearly invisible over the season's first two contests.
Sep 27, 2021
Finally shows up with 1.5 sacks
Williams had four tackles (three solo), 1.5 sacks and a tackle for loss in Sunday's 26-0 loss to Denver.
ANALYSIS
There were few positive takeaways for the Jets as they fell to 0-3 in shutout fashion, but Williams' performance was one. Williams had totaled just five tackles without a sack through the first two games, as he was still finding his footing after missing camp with a broken foot. He finally regained a form more reminiscent of last season's seven-sack campaign in this one, and the Jets will need Williams to keep generating pressure from the interior given their lack of pass rush on the outside.
Sep 8, 2021
Absent from injury report
Williams (foot) isn't listed on the Jets' Wednesday injury report heading into the season opener against the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
Williams had surgery to repair a broken foot in early May, but his absence from the injury report confirms expectations that he would be all systems go by the time the season came around. After a pedestrian rookie season, the third overall pick in the 2019 draft broke out with seven sacks over 13 games in 2020, and Williams should continue to provide much-needed interior pressure for a Jets defense that will struggle to generate an outside pass rush in the wake of Carl Lawson's season-ending Achilles tear.
Aug 16, 2021
Activated from PUP
Williams (foot) was activated from the PUP list for Monday's practice, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams returns to practice as a limited participant, with nearly four weeks to ramp up and prepare for the regular-season opener against Carolina on Sept. 12. He's arguably the most important player for the New York defense, recording 55 tackles and seven sacks in 13 games last season as a 22/23-year-old. Williams then broke his foot in the spring and had surgery in early May, missing offseason practices and the first three weeks of training camp. He's unlikely to play this preseason but should have time to get ready for Week 1.
Aug 11, 2021
Nearing return
Coach Robert Saleh said Williams (foot) will go through "a mock practice" on Friday and should return next week, Al Iannazzone of Newsday reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams can still be considered on track for the Jets' regular-season opener against the Panthers on Sept. 12, barring any setbacks. It remains to be seen whether Williams will end up handling any preseason action, however. Given that he's still on the PUP list, it seems all but assured that Williams will at least sit out Saturday's exhibition matchup against the Giants.
Aug 2, 2021
Working on the side
Williams (foot) is running to the side at Monday's practice, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams, who Cimini reports is roughly two weeks away from a full return, still appears to be completely on track in his recovery. The 2019 first-round pick may not end up seeing preseason action in the coming weeks, but the Jets expect him to be available to kick off the regular season.
Jul 28, 2021
Should be ready for Week 1
Williams (foot) is expected to be available for the regular-season opener, per coach Robert Saleh, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams won't see much, if any, preseason action as he recovers from foot surgery, but the 2019 third-overall pick should be good to go once the games start to count. He's coming off a promising sophomore season, in which Williams notched seven sacks over 13 appearances. Williams is expected to resume practicing before New York's second preseason game.
Jul 23, 2021
Enters camp on PUP list
The Jets have placed Williams on the Active/PUP list, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
No surprise here, as Williams underwent surgery to repair a broken bone in his foot in early-May. He was expected to be sidelined 10-12 weeks, which would lead to a potential return in the coming weeks. The 23-year-old has emerged as one of the best players on the Jets' defensive front by accumulating 83 tackles and 9.5 sacks across 26 games with the team.
May 7, 2021
Out at least two months
Williams underwent surgery to repair a broken bone in his foot and will be out the next 10-to-12 weeks, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
The surgery means Williams will miss all of OTAs and June minicamp, but coach Robert Saleh believes the defensive end should be healthy in time for training camp. In two seasons with the Jets, the 23-year-old has emerged as one of the best players along the team's defensive front registering 83 tackles and 9.5 sacks across 26 games.
May 4, 2021
Breaks bone in foot
Williams likely will need surgery after breaking a small bone in his foot, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
The surgery, assuming it happens, would come with a recovery estimate of 8-to-10 weeks, ruling Williams out for OTAs and June minicamp. He'd still have a shot to be ready for the start of training camp, though the Jets might ease him into practice even if he seems healthy again. Williams looked the part of a No. 3 overall pick in his second pro season, finishing 2020 with 55 tackles and seven sacks in only 13 games.
Dec 23, 2020
Officially placed on IR
Williams (neck) was placed on IR on Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
This move was just a formality, as it came out earlier in the day that Williams would miss the season's final two games to heal up from a neck injury. Williams suffered the injury after taking a hit to the head in Sunday's win over the Rams, but he picked up his fifth sack in the last seven games prior to his exit, building up momentum at the end of his second NFL season.
Dec 23, 2020
Done for season
Williams (neck) will miss the Jets' final two games of the season, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
The team plans to place Williams on IR, a move that could become official later Wednesday. The No. 3 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft thus finishes his second campaign as a pro with 55 tackles and seven sacks in 13 games, numbers that gave the 6-foot-3, 303-pound defensive lineman a degree of IDP utility in 2020.
Dec 20, 2020
Enters concussion protocol
Coach Adam Gase said that Williams entered concussion protocol Sunday, Connor Hughes of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
New York delivered a spirited 23-20 victory over the heavily favored Rams to end a winless 2020 campaign, but the upset didn't come without an injury to one of the team's defense stalwarts. Williams has been emerging as a pocket disruptor in his second pro campaign, collecting his seventh sack of the season Sunday after generating just two a year ago. The Alabama product has also produced more than double the number of QB hits compared to his 2019 output. Looking forward, Williams will have to clear the NFL's five-step concussion protocol if he is to be activated for a Week 16 game against Cleveland.
Dec 20, 2020
Takes hit to head
Williams is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Rams because of a head injury, Connor Hughes of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams absorbed an accidental hit in the head from a teammate, rendering Nathan Shepherd as the next man up at defensive end for the time being. The 2019 No. 3 overall draft choice had racked up three tackles and a sack prior to his second-half departure. He's been heating up of late, with four sacks over his past five appearances.
Nov 30, 2020
Disrupts pocket in loss to Dolphins
Williams registered seven tackles, 1.5 sacks and two pass defections during Sunday's 20-3 loss to Miami.
ANALYSIS
Three QB hits against the Dolphins marked a single-game career high for the 2019 No. 3 overall draft choice. This breakthrough may have been foreseeable from Williams, as he has been finding ways to reach the quarterback with greater frequency over his past four appearances. He has three sacks in a quarter-season sample size since Week 7, after recording just two sacks over his first six appearances of 2020. Williams has bounced back nicely from a hamstring injury that held him out Week 9 against New England, with as many tackles the past two outings as he's had in any two-game stretch all season.
Nov 29, 2020
Wreaks havoc in loss
Williams recorded seven tackles (four solo), 1.5 sacks, a tackle for loss, two passes defensed and three quarterback hits in Sunday's 20-3 loss to Miami.
ANALYSIS
Williams' strong effort was a silver lining as the Jets fell to 0-11. The third overall selection from the 2019 draft consistently got into Miami's backfield and made life difficult for Ryan Fitzpatrick. Williams is up to five sacks on the season, including three in his last four games.
Nov 20, 2020
Cleared for Sunday's game
Williams (hamstring) won't carry an injury tag into Sunday's game versus the Chargers.
ANALYSIS
Williams practiced Wednesday for the first time since suffering a hamstring injury in a Week 8 loss to the Chiefs, and he upgraded to full participation Friday, clearing him for Sunday's game. The 2019 first-round pick has recorded three sacks and eight quarterback pressures this year, and he'll aim to make rookie Justin Herbert uncomfortable in the pocket Sunday.
Nov 16, 2020
Aiming to practice this week
Coach Adam Gase said Monday that he hopes Williams (hamstring) is able to practice with limitations Wednesday, Brian Costello of the New York Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams suffered a hamstring injury in the Week 8 loss to the Chiefs, and it appears he'll have a chance to return after three weeks of recovery. However, if he's not ready or the Jets opt to take a cautious approach, Nathan Shepherd or John Franklin-Myers will pick up the reps at defensive end.
Nov 9, 2020
Can't go for MNF
Williams (hamstring) is inactive heading into the Jets' matchup against New England on Monday night.
ANALYSIS
The 2019 No. 3 overall draft choice was designated as doubtful Saturday after being unable to participate in practice at all throughout the week. Williams had exited last Sunday's loss to Kansas City with a hamstring issue, though he was able to return to action Week 8. With the issue remaining bothersome to the point that Williams is not able to go against New England, Nathan Shepherd will now see an increase in usage at defensive end.
Nov 7, 2020
Deemed doubtful
The Jets have listed Williams (hamstring) as doubtful for Monday's game against the Patriots, Brian Costello of the New York Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams was unable to practice all week and it seems that he will need a quick turnaround in health to have any chance of suiting up Monday night. Nathan Shepherd (back) would presumably replace him at defensive end, but it should be noted that he is listed as questionable.
Nov 5, 2020
DNP to start week
Williams (hamstring) did not practice Thursday, Andy Vasquez of The Bergen Record reports.
ANALYSIS
Coach Adam Gase said Williams' lingering injury will be taken day by day, and that the second-year pro's status for Week 9 remains uncertain. Fellow defensive linemen John Franklin-Myers (knee) and Nathan Shepherd (back) are also banged up.
Nov 2, 2020
Hamstring remains bothersome
Williams (hamstring) suffered a hamstring injury during Sunday's loss to the Chiefs and could miss some practice time, Connor Hughes of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The 22-year-old exited Sunday's contest due to the hamstring injury and was able to return, but the injury still proves bothersome. Williams may be limited or absent from practice this week, but he should at least have a chance to play Week 9 given he already played through the injury.
Nov 1, 2020
Right back in against KC
Williams (hamstring) was briefly removed from Sunday's matchup against the Chiefs but he has since returned to action, Connor Hughes of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The Alabama product has been made available at the onset of the fourth quarter, as Kansas City will likely try to grind the clock from here on out, in possession of a three-possession lead. Williams and the Jets have kept the Chiefs' potent ground attack in check through three quarters, limiting the team to under 30 rushing yards.
Nov 1, 2020
Hamstring issue pops up again
Williams (hamstring) is questionable to return to Sunday's matchup against the Chiefs.
ANALYSIS
The 2019 No. 3 overall draft choice was dealing with a hamstring issue heading into a Week 6 trip to Miami, but he was able to suit up for more than 60 percent of the defensive snaps during that contest. Williams made it through last week's 18-10 loss to Buffalo with no issue either, but he's once again beleaguered by a hamstring issue in the midst of a visit to Arrowhead Stadium. Should Williams be unavailable to return, Nathan Shepherd would be in line for more opportunities at defensive end.
Oct 18, 2020
Active as expected
Williams (hamstring) will suit up in Sunday's game against the Dolphins.
ANALYSIS
It was reported earlier Sunday that Williams was on track to play after preparing in practice in a limited capacity. Now healthy, Williams will assume his usual starting role across the Jets' defensive line. The Alabama product has logged just 19 tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble this year.
Oct 18, 2020
On track to play
Williams (hamstring), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Dolphins, is expected to play, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams' status will be confirmed with the release of the Jets' inactive list, which is expected to be revealed around 11:30 a.m. ET. After a disappointing rookie season in 2019, Williams has shown improved production through the Jets' first five contests of 2020, logging 19 tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble.
Oct 16, 2020
Deemed questionable for Sunday
Williams (hamstring) is considered questionable for Sunday's game versus the Dolphins.
ANALYSIS
Williams was able to practice all week, albeit in a limited capacity, so he appears to have a good chance to play in Sunday's divisional contest. If he ends up sitting out, Kyle Phillips and Nathan Shepherd will both handle increased duties at defensive end.
Oct 14, 2020
Limited to begin week
Williams was limited in Wednesday's practice due to a groin injury, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams appears to have sustained a groin injury during Sunday's loss to the Cardinals, in which he handled 55 percent of defensive snaps and logged three tackles (one solo). Other than a Week 2 performance against the 49ers in which he notched two sacks, Williams has been quiet through the first five games of the season.
Oct 5, 2020
Charges dropped
Williams had his felony weapons charges dismissed Monday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams' attorney, Alex Spiros, said that "this case was nothing more than a technical issue with the storing of the firearm, which is why the government gave [Williams] nothing more than a ticket." The league isn't expected to intervene at this time. Expect the 2019 first-round pick to continue starting at defensive end where he's piled up 16 tackles and two sacks through four games.
Sep 20, 2020
Two sacks in blowout loss
Williams recorded seven tackles (four solo) and two sacks in Sunday's 31-13 loss to the 49ers.
ANALYSIS
Williams' strong play was one of the few silver linings for the Jets as they suffered a second consecutive resounding defeat to open the season. After an underwhelming rookie season in which he was bothered by a high ankle sprain, Williams is starting to show the talent that prompted New York to draft him with the third overall pick in 2019.
Jun 25, 2020
Bothered by ankle last year
Defensive coordinator Gregg Williams said (Quinnen) Williams was seriously impacted by a high-ankle sprain last year, Brian Costello of the New York Post reports.
ANALYSIS
The Alabama product missed two games in September with an ankle injury and a third game in December due to a stinger. He finished his rookie campaign with 28 tackles, 2.5 sacks and six QB hits on 512 defensive snaps, making nine starts in 13 appearances. It was a disappointing effort by the standards of a No. 3 overall draft pick, but it sounds like the Jets have huge expectations for the 22-year-old Williams now that he's fully healthy.
Mar 6, 2020
Off-field issues surface
Williams was arrested Thursday night for allegedly carrying a gun through LaGuardia Airport, Larry Celona and Vincent Barone of the New York Post reports.
ANALYSIS
According to reports, Williams was allegedly arrested for criminal possession of a weapon. According to Port Authority officials, the 2019 first-round pick allegedly had a permit for the weapon, but it was licensed in Alabama, not in New York.
Jan 26, 2020
Limited impact as rookie
Williams finished his rookie campaign with 28 tackles and 2.5 sacks in 13 games played.
ANALYSIS
New York was certainly hoping for more out of the third overall selection from the 2019 draft, but Williams was never quite able to get to 100 percent as a rookie. He dealt with a calf injury leading up to the season and injured his ankle in Week 1, keeping him off the field until Week 5. If he can get through the offseason healthy, look for Williams to make a much greater impact on the interior of New York's defensive line in his second season.
Oct 6, 2019
Ready to go Sunday
Williams (ankle) is officially active for Sunday's game at Philadelphia.
ANALYSIS
Coach Adam Gase said early in the week that Williams was "good to go" barring a setback, so it's not a major surprise to seem him playing Sunday. The rookie first-round pick has been sidelined since suffering the left ankle sprain in Week 1.
Oct 4, 2019
Questionable Week 5
Williams (ankle) is considered questionable for Sunday's game against the Eagles.
ANALYSIS
Williams was a limited practice participant this week but appears likely to play as coach Adam Gase said Monday that he's "good to go" barring a setback. The rookie first-round pick seemed to avoid that as he practiced each day, so he should see his first game action since suffering the injury Week 1.
Sep 30, 2019
On track for Sunday
Coach Adam Gase said Williams (ankle) is "good to go" for Sunday's game versus the Eagles barring a setback, Brian Costello of the New York Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams hasn't played since Week 1 but benefited from the bye week to get healthy. Although he rookie may be a limited participant to start the practice week, he looks in line to suit up for Week 5's game. Williams likely won't be a starter in this contest with Steve McLendon still in the fold, but he'll be an important early-down option against the Eagles who just racked up 176 rushing yards against the Packers.
Sep 23, 2019
Targeting Week 5 return
Coach Adam Gase said Monday that Williams (ankle) is trending in the right direction to play Week 5 against the Eagles, Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams has yet to retake the field since suffering an ankle injury Week 1 versus the Bills. He'll benefit from extra time to get healthy before facing off against the Eagles, with the Jets on bye Week 4.
Sep 22, 2019
No-go for road clash
Williams (ankle) is officially listed as inactive for Sunday's game against the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
The rookie was doubtful coming into the game after he was unable to practice in any session during the past week. Luckily for the defense, fellow DT Steve McLendon (hip) will be active, so he'll get the start. With the Jets on bye next week, Williams will have two weeks to get healthy ahead of Week 5's game versus the Eagles.
Sep 20, 2019
Unlikely to play Sunday
Williams (ankle) is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game versus the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
Williams will miss his second straight game, and it doesn't seem like he's making progress after sitting out all three practices this week. The Jets have a bye next week, so the rookie first-round pick has two weeks to get healthy for Week 5's game versus the Eagles.
Sep 19, 2019
No practice Thursday
Williams (ankle) is not participating in Thursday's practice, Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams has yet to resume practicing since suffering an ankle injury Week 1. Even if the rookie first-round pick is able to participate Friday he may be a long shot for Sunday's tilt against the Patriots. Folorunso Fatukasi is in line to serve as the team's backup nose tackle as long as Williams remains sidelined.
Sep 18, 2019
Absent from practice field
Williams (ankle) didn't participate in Wednesday's practice, Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports.
ANALYSIS
Although Williams is sitting out, coach Adam Gase said he's "trending" toward practicing Thursday. Even if Williams is able to practice, he still may be an inactive for Sunday's game versus the Patriots. The Jets have yet to see what Williams -- their third-overall pick in April's draft -- can bring to the table, as he's only played 24 defensive snaps thus far.
Sep 14, 2019
Ruled out
Williams (ankle) has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Browns.
ANALYSIS
Not only did the Jets lose starting quarterback Sam Darnold for multiple games due to mononucleosis, starting middle linebacker Curtis Mosley (groin) and Williams will also miss the prime-time contest Monday. Expect the Jets to use a variety of linemen to fill in for the 2019 first-round pick.
Sep 12, 2019
Absent from practice Thursday
Williams (ankle) didn't participate in Thursday's practice, Connor Hughes of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams suffered an ankle injury Week 1 versus the Bills and has yet to resume practicing. He'll have two more opportunities to retake the practice field ahead of Monday's tilt against the Browns. If Williams is unable to go Week 2 expect Folorunso Fatukasi to step in as the team's backup nose tackle.
Sep 11, 2019
Making progress
Williams (ankle) won't practice Wednesday but coach Adam Gase said he's "progressing very fast," Ralph Vacchiano of SportsNet New York reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams didn't record a stat in his NFL debut, which was effected by an ankle injury in the second half. Steve McLendon is still the team's starting nose tackle, but the Jets hope Williams will be able to practice in some capacity by Saturday.
Sep 8, 2019
Exits with ankle injury
Williams (ankle) is questionable to return to Sunday's game versus the Bills, Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams hadn't made a tackle in his NFL debut at the time of his departure. The rookie first-round pick's absence depletes the depth of the Jets' defensive front, but he was still working as a backup nose tackle to Steve McLendon. If he doesn't return, expect his practice status to be monitored in the upcoming week.
