Records sack in win
Nwosu finished with two solo tackles, including a sack, in Monday's 27-19 victory over the Texans.
ANALYSIS
The outside linebacker also played on more than half of the defensive snaps for the fourth week in a row. In that span, he has 15 tackles (six solo), including 5.0 sacks. Nwosu should continue to see snaps if he keeps getting to the quarterback.
Sep 26, 2025
Sees increased work Week 4
Nwosu logged five tackles (three solo) during the Seahawks' 23-20 win over the Cardinals on Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Nwosu served in a rotational role at linebacker in the two games entering Thursday's NFC West bout. However, he played a season-high 38 snaps on defense, most of which came after DeMarcus Lawrence left the game due to a thigh injury that he suffered late in the first quarter. Nwosu would be in line to start in Week 5 against the Buccaneers on Sunday, Oct. 5 if Lawrence is unable to play.
Sep 10, 2025
Logs full practice Wednesday
Nwosu (knee) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Nwosu spent the offseason recovering from knee surgery in March. He was unable to play in the preseason and was ruled out for Week 1 against the 49ers, but his ability to log a full practice Wednesday indicates that he is on track to play against the Steelers on Sunday. Nwosu was limited to just six regular-season games in 2024 due to multiple lower-body injuries and finished with 14 tackles (eight solo), including 1.0 sacks, and a pass defense.
Sep 5, 2025
Missing Week 1
Nwosu (knee) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's contest against the 49ers, Brady Henderson of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Nwosu opened the Seahawks' week of practice with consecutive limited sessions, but it now appears his knee injury will sideline him in Week 1. The veteran edge rusher has struggled with injuries over the past two seasons, missing 22 of Seattle's 34 regular-season contests. His next opportunity to take the field will come in Week 2, when the Seahawks visit the Steelers.
Sep 3, 2025
Limited in practice Wednesday
Nwosu (knee) was a limited participant in Seattle's practice Wednesday, John Boyle of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Nwosu is seemingly still working his way back from knee surgery that caused him to miss the majority of the team's training camp. While the 28-year-old will look to be good to go for Sunday's season opener versus San Francisco, if he ends up being unable to play, Derrick Hall and Connor O'Toole could be in line for increased playing time.
Aug 21, 2025
Participates in workout
Nwosu went through a workout in full pads Thursday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official website reports.
ANALYSIS
Nwosu was reinstated from the active/PUP list Sunday after spending the beginning of training camp on the sidelines while recovering from offseason knee surgery. The linebacker didn't participate in Thursday's joint practice with the Packers, but it's still a positive sign that he was able to log reps in full pads on his own.
Aug 17, 2025
Set to be activated from PUP
Nwosu (knee) passed his physical Sunday and is on track to being reinstated from the Seahawks' active/PUP list this week, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Nwosu opened training camp on the PUP list while recovering from offseason knee surgery, but he is poised to start practicing as training camp winds down. He's unlikely to play in Saturday's preseason finale against the Packers, but the 2018 second-rounder is on track to being available for Week 1 against the 49ers on Sunday, Sept. 7. Nwosu appeared in just six regular-season games in 2024 due to separate lower-body injuries and finished with 14 tackles (eight solo), including 1.0 sacks, and one pass defense.
Jul 23, 2025
Not close to returning
Nwosu (knee) is not expected to be ready to practice anytime soon, Brady Henderson of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Nwosu was placed on the active/PUP list on Thursday as he continues to recover from offseason knee surgery, but he's not close to returning to action apparently. Head coach Mike Macdonald implied Wednesday that the linebacker could be sidelined into the regular season, saying that the linebacker will be out "probably throughout the rest of camp and then we'll go from there." Nwosu dealt with a series of injuries in 2024, including knee, thigh and wrist issues, and the team will likely ensure he's back to full strength before he returns to practice.
Jul 17, 2025
Moves to active/PUP list
Nwosu (knee) was placed on the active/PUP list by the Seahawks on Thursday, John Boyle of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The linebacker will still be eligible to practice with the team once training camp opens and play in the first preseason game. Nwosu dealt with knee, thigh and wrist issues during the 2024 campaign and then had offseason surgery on his knee. Between those issues and a pectoral injury in 2023, he has played in just 12 games in the last two years since recording career highs in tackles (67 total, 42 solo), sacks (9.5), pass breakups (four), forced fumbles (three) and fumble recoveries (two) in 2022.
Mar 26, 2025
Underwent knee surgery
Seahawks GM John Schneider said Wednesday that Nwosu required offseason knee surgery, Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
It was reported last week that Nwosu underwent some sort of surgery, but the nature of it wasn't known at the time after he dealt with various injuries last season. Nwosu has since agreed to a restructured contract to stay with the Seahawks after appearing in just six games during the 2024 campaign. Since turning in a career-high 9.5 sacks in 2022, Nwosu has played in just 12 games over the last two seasons.
Mar 20, 2025
Had offseason surgery
Nwosu (undisclosed) needed offseason surgery after dealing with knee, thigh and wrist issues during the 2024 season, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
It's unclear what type of surgery Nwosu needed or whether it was related to one of his in-season injuries. Dugar further reported that Seahawks GM John Schneider told the Seattle Sports radio station that it was "too early to tell" if the linebacker would begin training camp on the PUP list. Nwosu recorded 14 tackles (eight solo), including 1.0 sacks, and a pass defensed in six games last season.
Jan 8, 2025
Limited by injuries in 2024
Nwosu finished the 2024 season with 14 total tackles (eight solo), including 1.0 sacks, and a pass defensed across six games.
ANALYSIS
Nwosu was limited by injuries again in 2024, dealing with a knee issue, a thigh injury and a quadriceps injury throughout the year. His 14 total takedowns this season were a career low, while he went without a forced fumble for the first time since the 2020 campaign. The linebacker has appeared in just 12 games over the last two seasons and he'll enter the final year of his contract with the Seahawks in 2025.
Dec 24, 2024
Full participant in walkthrough
Nwosu (wrist) was listed as a full participant for Tuesday's walkthrough, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Nwosu has opened the week as a limited participant in Monday's walkthrough, but he upgraded to full Tuesday as he works through a wrist injury he likely picked up during the Seahawks' Week 16 loss to the Vikings. If Nwosu can log a full practice Wednesday, he would likely avoid an injury designation heading into Thursday's game against the Bears.
Dec 23, 2024
Estimated as limited Monday
Nwosu (wrist) was a limited participant on Monday's practice estimate, Brady Henderson of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The Seahawks played the Vikings on Sunday, so the team didn't actually hold a practice a day later. Nonetheless, the veteran linebacker popped up on the injury report with a wrist injury, which puts him at risk of missing this Thursday's outing against the Bears. The coming days when Seattle actually has practice should provide a better indication of his status for the TNF game.
Dec 11, 2024
Comes back, makes tackle
Nwosu recorded one tackle in Sunday's 30-18 win over the Cardinals, his first action since Week 5.
ANALYSIS
The linebacker was activated off injured reserve Dec. 5 after missing seven games with a thigh injury. Nwosu also sat the first four games of the year with a knee issue. The seventh-year pro played on 20 snaps Sunday, the same amount that he saw in Week 5 against the Giants.
Dec 5, 2024
Activated from IR
The Seahawks activated Nwosu (thigh) off injured reserve Thursday, John Boyle of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Nwosu missed the first four games of the regular season due to a knee injury he suffered in the Seahawks' preseason finale. He returned for Week 5 against the Giants, but his return was short-lived as he suffered a thigh injury that was serious enough to warrant a stint on IR. Nwosu has been able to log full practices as of late, and now that he's off IR, he's on track to play against the Cardinals on Sunday. Nwosu's last full season was in 2022, when he logged 67 tackles (42 solo), including 9.5 sacks, four pass defenses, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries across 17 regular-season games.
Dec 4, 2024
Logs full practice Wednesday
Nwosu (quadriceps) was a John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site in Wednesday's practice, John reports.
ANALYSIS
Nwosu was set to return from injured reserve for Week 13 against the Jets after logging a full practice Friday. However, the Seahawks opted to take the cautious route and kept him on IR for this past Sunday's game. Nwosu's full practice Wednesday indicates that the 2018 second-round pick is trending towards playing against the Cardinals on Sunday.
Nov 30, 2024
Not quite ready
Updating a previous report, Nwosu (quadriceps) will not return in Week 13 against the Jets, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
While Nwoso was a full participant in Friday's practice, he's not ready to return to game action just yet. The veteran does appear to be nearing his first game action since Week 5, and he'll now set his sights on a potential Week 14 return at Arizona.
Nov 29, 2024
Set to return for Week 13
Nwosu (quadriceps) was a full participant in Friday's practice and does not carry an injury designation ahead of Sunday's game against the Jets, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports.
ANALYSIS
Nwosu has been on the Seahawks' injured reserve since straining his quadriceps in Week 5 against the Giants. He was designated to return from IR on Wednesday, and after starting the week with consecutive limited practices, Nwosu finished off strong with a full practice Friday. His lack of an injury designation indicates that the Seahawks should activate Nwosu off IR ahead of Sunday's game.
Nov 27, 2024
Limited Wednesday
Nwosu (quadriceps) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Nwosu's 21-day practice window to return from injured reserve opened Wednesday, and his limited participation was his first practice since suffering a quadriceps strain in Week 5 against the Giants. Nwosu will likely need to log multiple full practices before being reinstated off IR.
Nov 27, 2024
Designated to return from IR
The Seahawks designated Nwosu (quadriceps) to return from injured reserve Wednesday, John Boyle of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Nwosu has been on injured reserve since Oct. 10 after suffering a significant quadriceps strain in Week 5 against the Giants. While he will return to practice this week, head coach Mike Macdonald said Monday that Nwosu is not expected to play this Sunday against the Jets. Nwosu will thus focus on being ready for the Seahawks' Week 14 contest against the Cardinals on Sunday, Dec. 8. Since signing a three-year, $45 million extension with the Seahawks in July of 2023, Nwosu has played in just seven regular-season games due to multiple injuries.
Nov 25, 2024
Expected to practice this week
Nwosu (quadriceps) is expected to return to practice this week, Brady Henderson of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The linebacker has been on injured reserve since suffering the injury in Seattle's Week 5 loss to the Giants. To open Nwosu's 21-day practice window, the Seahawks will need to designate him to return from IR. Even if that happens, Seattle coach Mike Macdonald does not expect him to be ready in time for Sunday's matchup with the Jets, per Curtis Crabtree of Fox 13 Seattle.
Oct 10, 2024
Dealing with significant injury
Nwosu (thigh) is dealing with a "pretty intense quad strain" according to Seahawks' general manager John Schneider, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Nwosu was placed on injured reserve with a thigh injury Thursday, which is now understood to be a quadriceps issue. Schneider added that the linebacker is "going to miss some time here," so it's unclear if the minimum four weeks on IR will be enough. In the meantime, Trevis Gipson will likely see an increase in workload while Nwosu is unavailable, beginning on Thursday Night Football against the 49ers.
Oct 10, 2024
Placed on IR
Nwosu (thigh) was placed on Seattle's injured reserve list Friday, John Boyle of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Nwosu will now be out for at least four weeks as he nurses a thigh injury that was suffered during last Sunday's game against the Giants. As a result, linebacker Trevis Gipson should see some elevated opportunities as Seattle takes on the Rams this week.
Oct 8, 2024
Expects to go to IR
Nwosu is expected to be placed on Seattle's injured reserve list as he nurses a thigh injury, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
The thigh issue Nwosu picked up during Sunday's game versus the Giants is evidently severe enough that it will probably keep him out for at least four weeks. In his stead, Trevis Gipson would be in line for an uptick in reps on the edge.
Oct 7, 2024
Won't play in Week 6
Head coach Mike Macdonald told reporters Monday that Nwosu (thigh) won't make it back in time for Thursday's matchup against the 49ers, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Nwosu made his 2024 debut in Sunday's loss, playing just 20 defensive snaps before sustaining a new injury that's expected to hold him out of the Seahawks' Week 6 contest. The USC product was able to record three total tackles in his limited time on the field, and both Dre'Mont Jones and Derick Hall (foot) could see increased snaps with Seattle's first-team defense in Nwosu's stead.
Oct 6, 2024
Leaves game early
Nwosu (thigh) has exited Sunday's game against the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Nwosu was making his 2024 debut after missing the first four weeks due to a knee injury. Now, he's suffered a new injury, which has him questionable to return in the second half.
Oct 4, 2024
Past knee injury
Nwosu (knee) has no injury designation ahead of Sunday's game against the Giants, Corbin K. Smith of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Nwosu appears to be past his knee injury after logging back-to-back limited practice sessions Wednesday and Thursday. However, head coach Mike Macdonald told reporters Friday that Nwosu may not make his debut in Week 5, despite not having an injury designation, per Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune. If Nwosu doesn't suit up Sunday, expect Derick Hall to serve as Seattle's top weakside linebacker.
Oct 2, 2024
Limited at walkthrough
Nwosu (knee) was estimated to be a limited participant at the Seahawks' walkthrough Wednesday, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Nwosu has been sidelined for the first four games of the season with an MCL sprain that he suffered in late August and he'll look to officially participate at practice Thursday. If he's forced to miss the team's Week 5 matchup with the Giants, Derick Hall and Tyrice Knight would be candidates to see extra snaps at linebacker.
Sep 28, 2024
Won't play Week 4
Nwosu (knee) has been ruled out ahead of Monday's game against Detroit, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Nwosu has missed the first four games of the regular season due to an MCL sprain he suffered in late August. With Boye Mafe (knee) also ruled out for Monday's game, Derick Hall and Dre'Mont Jones will both see more snaps with the first-team defense.
Sep 26, 2024
Doesn't practice Thursday
Nsowsu (knee) was listed as a DNP on the Seahawks' injury report Thursday, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Nwosu has yet to appear in a regular-season game due to a left MCL sprain he sustained in Seattle's preseason finale. He's at risk of missing a fourth consecutive game unless he's able to see the practice field in at least a limited capacity this week. Derick Hall (hip) has started at linebacker in Nwosu's absence, and the former has accrued nine tackles (five solo), including 3.0 sacks, over the first three games of the regular season.
Sep 20, 2024
Still out Week 3
Nwosu (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's matchup with Miami, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Nwosu suffered a left MCL sprain in Seattle's preseason finale and hasn't yet been able to suit up in the regular season. He didn't practice in any capacity this week, so it's not surprising that he's been deemed out for Sunday. Derick Hall has been seeing increased work in Nwosu's stead, but Hall is questionable to play Week 3 due to a hip injury.
Sep 18, 2024
Remains absent from practice
Nwosu (knee) did not participate at Seattle's practice Wednesday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Nwosu has been forced to miss the team's first two games of the season while he continues to recover from an MCL sprain he suffered in the preseason. He'll look to return to practice in some capacity prior to the end of the week.
Sep 11, 2024
Not expected to play Sunday
Nwosu (knee) won't play Week 2 against the Patriots, Corbin K. Smith reports.
ANALYSIS
Nwosu is still recovering from a sprained MCL suffered in the Seahawks' final preseason game against the Browns. He was originally given a 2-to-6-week recovery timeline, which is just over two weeks old. Assuming he doesn't play Sunday, the USC product's next opportunity will be Week 3 against the Dolphins.
Sep 9, 2024
Didn't play Sunday
Nwosu (knee) was inactive for Sunday's 26-20 win over the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
Nwosu is still recovering from a sprained MCL, which was originally given a 2-to-6-week recovery time two weeks ago. If he happens to be on the shorter end of the timeline, he could return as soon as Sunday against the Patriots. His practice status throughout the week should give more clarity on how realistic of a possibility that is.
Aug 26, 2024
Sustains MCL sprain
Nwosu is expected to miss two-to-six weeks after suffering a sprained MCL during Saturday's preseason finale, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Nwosu has been riddled with injuries recently, as the 27-year-old outside linebacker missed the Seahawks' final 11 games last season due to a torn pectoral and will now miss the beginning of Seattle's 2024 campaign. The USC product has been the Seahawks' most productive pass rusher when on the field, recording 9.5 sacks during his last full season in 2022. Expect both Derick Hall and Boye Mafe to see more reps with the Seahawks' first-team defense while Nwosu recovers from his sprained MCL.
Aug 25, 2024
Dealing with knee issue
Nwosu exited Saturday night's preseason win over the Browns with a knee injury and will undergo further testing, Brady Henderson of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
"Not sure yet," coach Mike Macdonald said. "We'll probably know more in the next couple days." Following a career-best 9.5 sacks in 2022, Nwosu suffered a torn pec in Week 7 last season and missed the remainder of the year, finishing with just 2.0 sacks across six contests. Losing Nwosu for any length of time would be an issue for Seattle's pass rush.
May 22, 2024
Taking part in OTAs
Nwosu (pectoral) participated in OTAs Wednesday, Brady Henderson of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Nwosu suffered a torn pec in Week 7 and missed the remainder of the season. He's already stated he expects to be a full participant for the start of training camp, and the veteran appears to be on track in his recovery. Nwosu tallied a career-best 9.5 sacks in 2022 and inked a three-year, $45 million extension last summer. He'll be counted on to help key Seattle's pass rush in his third season with the team in 2024.
Apr 10, 2024
Expects to be ready for camp
Nwosu (pectoral) indicated Wednesday that he "absolutely" expects to be ready for the start of training camp, Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune reports.
ANALYSIS
Nwosu is coming off a season-ending torn pectoral that he suffered this past October, but the edge rusher appears to be progressing well and barring any setbacks, the 27-year-old is poised to reclaim his key role in the Seahawks' defense this coming season. Prior to his injury, Nwosu -- who racked up a career high 9.5 sacks in 2022 -- recorded 16 tackles and two sacks in six regular-season games last year.
Mar 26, 2024
On track for Week 1
General manager John Schneider said Tuesday that Nwosu (pectoral) is expected to be ready for the start of the regular season, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Nwosu missed all but the first six games of the 2023 campaign due to a torn pectoral, and while it's unclear whether he'll be ready for the start of training camp, there seem to be no concerns about his Week 1 availability. When healthy, Nwosu's presence should provide Seattle's pass rush with a boost it sorely missed in 2023.
Oct 26, 2023
Heads to IR
Nwosa (pectoral) was placed on injured reserve Thursday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The 26-year-old edge rusher out of USC suffered a pectoral injury during Seattle's Week 7 win over the Cardinals, and he's set to undergo season-ending surgery, making it no surprise that he's now been placed on IR. Nwosa has started all 23 games he's appeared in for the Seahawks over the last two years, recording 82 total tackles, 16 tackles for loss and 11.5 sacks.
Oct 25, 2023
Set to undergo surgery
Head coach Pete Carroll announced that Nwosu (pectoral) is officially set to undergo season-ending surgery, Michael-Shawn Duggar of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Nwosu suffered the injury during last week's win against the Cardinals and is now confirmed to be undergoing surgery that will keep out for the remainder of the season. The Seahawks are now expected to sign free agent Frank Clark, who alongside Derick Hall, should fill in at linebacker for Nwosu.
Oct 23, 2023
Requires season ending surgery
Nwosu is expected to undergo season-ending surgery on his injured pectoral, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Nwosu injured his pectoral during Seattle's win against the Cardinals on Sunday and is now expected to miss the remainder of the season. The 2018 second-round pick has logged 16 tackles (12 solo), including two sacks, in six games and Derick Hall should now replace him at linebacker.
Oct 23, 2023
Likely to miss Week 8
Coach Pete Carroll said Monday that Nwosu is likely to miss at least one game with a pectoral strain, Brady Henderson of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
After sustaining a strained pectoral in Sunday's game versus Arizona, Nwosu seems to be trending towards sitting out his first game of the season in Week 8. Seattle's injury reports during the week will give a clearer indication of his availability.
Oct 22, 2023
Dealing with pec strain
Nwosu suffered a pectoral strain in Sunday's 20-10 win over the Cardinals, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Nwosu exited the victory in the second half, failing to return to the contest. The severity of the linebacker's injury will likely be updated in the coming days.
Oct 22, 2023
Questionable to return
Nwosu is considered questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Cardinals due to a pectoral injury.
ANALYSIS
Nwosu tallied two tackles (one solo) and one QB hit before exiting the game. It remains to be seen if he can return. Derick Hall and Darrell Taylor would be candidates to replace him on the edge if he cannot.
Oct 3, 2023
Six tackles, two sacks in win
Nwosu recorded six tackles (four solo), including two sacks, while also forcing a fumble in Monday's 24-3 win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Nwosu registered a season-high six takedowns while also getting to the quarterback for his first two sacks of the year. Seattle had a field day overall, compiling 11 sacks as a team and if they can keep getting consistent pressure moving forward, Nwosu will continue to be a beneficiary.
Jul 24, 2023
Lands three-year extension
The Seahawks signed Nwosu to a three-year extension Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
The extension keeps Nwosu in Seattle through the 2026 season and is worth up to $59 million with $32 million guaranteed. Signed to a two-year, $19.055 million deal ahead of the 2022 campaign, Nwosu had a career year in Seattle last season, registering 9.5 sacks, 12 TFLs, 26 quarterback hits, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. The 26-year-old will again key Seattle's pass rush off the edge.
Jan 20, 2023
Enjoys breakout season in Seattle
Nwosu posted 67 tackles (42 solo), 9.5 sacks, four pass breakups, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries across 17 regular-season games in 2022.
ANALYSIS
Nwosu totaled 9.5 sacks over the previous two seasons with the Chargers, but he broke out in Seattle's system while averaging a career-high 51 defensive snaps per game. The 2018 second-round pick just turned 26 years old, so he may not have hit his peak yet. Nwosu has just one year left on his contract in Seattle, so he'll be a candidate for an extension this offseason.
Dec 6, 2022
Notches third two-sack game
Nwosu posted four solo tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble in Sunday's 27-23 win over the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Nwosu recorded his third two-sack performance in five weeks, and he has extended his career high to nine sacks in his first season with the Seahawks. His previous career high is five sacks, so this is a significant breakout at in his fifth NFL season. At just 25 years old, Nwosu certainly has room to grow, but this has been an excellent season for IDP purposes.
Nov 8, 2022
Back-to-back two-sack games
Nwosu recorded four tackles (three solo), including two sacks, during Sunday's 31-21 win over the Cardinals.
ANALYSIS
Sunday's contest versus Arizona accounted for the second consecutive game where Nwosu amassed two sacks, as he did so in Week 8 against the Giants. The 25-year-old is now up to an impressive 40 tackles, seven sacks, three passes defensed, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery through Seattle's first nine games this season, and he'll look to keep his effective 2022 campaign rolling into Sunday's matchup against the Buccaneers in Germany.
Oct 31, 2022
Notches two sacks
Nwosu recorded six tackles (five solo) and two sacks in Sunday's 27-13 win over the Giants.
ANALYSIS
Nwosu has tied his career high through just eight games, as he has posted five sacks thus far. The fifth-year linebacker is proving he's a dependable pass-rusher. However ,he has averaged 4.5 tackles per game, so he doesn't provide high fantasy value unless he gets to the quarterback.
Sep 22, 2022
Logs full practice Thursday
Nwosu (shoulder) was listed as a full participant on the Seahawks' injury report Thursday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Nwosu appeared to suffer an unspecified shoulder injury during Sunday's loss to San Francisco. The linebacker logged four tackles and one pass defended while he saw fewer snaps than in Week 1 potentially due to the injury. With Nwosu back at practice fully, it's likely that his snap count will see an uptick Sunday against the Falcons.
Sep 21, 2022
Picks up injury
Nwosu (shoulder) was listed as a limited participant on the Seahawks' injury report Wednesday, John Boyle of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Nwosu is dealing with an unspecified shoulder injury following Sunday's 27-7 loss to the 49ers, in which he tallied four tackles and one pass defended. The 25-year-old did play a smaller percentage of his team's defensive snaps (71 percent) in Week 2 compared to Seattle's season opener (89 percent), though it's unclear if this was due to any physical limitations related to his shoulder. Nwosu signed a two-year, $20 million deal as a free agent with the Seahawks this offseason, and he figures to play a prominent pass-rushing role when healthy this season.
Sep 13, 2022
Excellent debut
Nwosu recorded seven tackles (three solo), a sack, a pass breakup and a forced fumble in Monday's 17-16 win against the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
Nwosu played 59 of 66 defensive snaps (89 percent). He and Darrell Taylor (54 snaps) are the top edge rushers, but Nwosu had the more impressive stat line as Taylor failed to post a stop. Nwosu should have some IDP appeal moving forward, but it's worth noting his career highs are 40 tackles and five sacks.
Aug 20, 2022
Two stops in loss
Nwosu posted two solo tackles -- one for a loss -- in Thursday's 27-11 preseason loss to the Bears.
ANALYSIS
Nwosu arrived in Seattle after posting 9.5 sacks and 13.0 tackles for loss over the last two seasons with the Seahawks. He signed a two-year, $20 million contract, so he should have a secure role on the edge in 2022. The Seahawks have a solid set of edge rushers with Nwosu, Darrell Taylor and rookie second-round pick Boye Mafe, and they'll be key to assisting the team's young secondary.
Mar 16, 2022
Lands two-year deal
Nwosu agreed to a two-year, $20 million contract with the Seahawks on Wednesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Nwosu appeared in all 17 games for the Chargers in 2021, and he recorded 40 tackles (24 solo), five sacks, an interception, four pass defenses, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery. The 25-year-old should have a chance to carve out a significant role in Seattle's defense next year.
Jan 18, 2022
Caps off excellent season
Nwosu finished his breakout 2021 campaign with 40 tackles (24 solo), five sacks, four passes defended, two forced fumbles and one interception.
ANALYSIS
It took until Year 4 for the 2018 second-round pick to finally emerge as a full-time starter and while Nwosu didn't put up gaudy numbers opposite Joey Bosa, the USC product was clearly a difference maker defensively. The 25-year-old will become an unrestricted free agent this offseason, but given the obvious favor of head coach Brandon Staley and the Chargers' second-most cap space, expect to see the pass-rushing linebacker get a significant extension at some point this offseason.

Two sacks in win
Nwosu tallied two tackles (two solo) along with two sacks and a forced fumble in the 41-22 win over the Bengals on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Nwosu recorded two of the Chargers six total sacks, increasing his season sack total to four. In addition, the young linebacker also forced and recovered his own fumble early in the first quarter, setting the tone for the remainder of the game. After recording his second forced fumble of the season, the 24-year-old gets an easier matchup against the Giants next Sunday.

Goes to injured reserve
Nwosu (knee) was placed on injured reserve Sunday, Gilbert Manzano of The Orange County Register reports.
ANALYSIS
The 23-year-old Nwosu suited up 13 times for the Chargers in 2020, establishing new career highs in tackles (33), QB hits (11), sacks (4.5) and pass deflections (two) during his third pro campaign out of USC. He had already been confirmed out for Week 16, but now Nwosu's season officially comes to an end given the fact that the Chargers have been eliminated from playoff contention.

Sidelined for Week 16
Nwosu (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's game versus the Broncos.
ANALYSIS
Nwosu was absent from the practice field all week, and he'll miss his second game of the season as a result. Through 13 games, Nwosu has recorded career highs in tackles (33) and sacks (4.5). Isaac Rochell is expected to start at defensive end in Nwosu's place Sunday.

Returning Week 13
Nwosu (shoulder) is active for Sunday's game against the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
The 23-year-old was expected to be sidelined three weeks after suffering the AC join sprain Nov. 22, but he'll be back the the field after missing only one game. Nwosu has only three tackles while playing a minor defensive role in his previous three games.

Won't play against Bills
Nwosu (shoulder) has been ruled out of Sunday's game against the Bills.
ANALYSIS
Nwosu was considered an IR candidate after being handed a three-week recovery after injuring his AC joint in Week 11. However, he has avoided IR for now and may have a chance to beat the initial timeline as a result. His absence hurts the Chargers' defensive line, though, as Melvin Ingram (knee) was placed on IR on Friday. Isaac Rochell is expected to start opposite Joey Bosa until Nwosu returns.

Should miss three weeks
Nwosu sprained the AC join in his shoulder during Sunday's win over the Jets and is expected to miss about three weeks, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
ANALYSIS
If that timeline is confirmed, the Chargers likely will place Nwosu on injured reserve to clear up a roster spot. The third-year defensive end is dependable depth behind starters Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram, and Isaac Rochell may absorb that role until Nwosu can return.
Nov 22, 2020
Done for the Day
Nwosu (shoulder) will not return to Sunday's contest against the Jets.
ANALYSIS
With Nwosu having been downgraded to out, Isaac Rochell will handle the majority of rotational snaps behind Melvin Ingram and Joey Bosa.

Injures shoulder
Nwosu (shoulder) is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Jets.
ANALYSIS
Nwosu has only handled a rotational role on defense since Jacksonville's Week 6 bye. If he's unable to return Sunday, Isaac Rochell stands to see an uptick in snaps.

Ready to rock
Nwosu (undisclosed) was Gilbert Manzano of The Orange County Register from Wednesday's injury report.
ANALYSIS
Nwosu suffered an undisclosed injury during Week 5's loss to the Saints, but it appears the USC product took advantage of the extra week of rest. Nwosu has racked up 15 tackles (nine solo), two sacks and two pass break ups through five games this season, so he'll likely assume his usual starting role at defensive end for Sunday's game against Jacksonville.

Leaves late with injury
Nwosu picked up four tackles (three solo), one sack and two quarterback hits in the 30-27 overtime loss to the Saints. He left early in the fourth quarter with an undisclosed injury and did not return.
ANALYSIS
It's unclear how serious the injury was considering the Saints had just two more offensive possessions the rest of the game, neither of which Nwosu was available to play. The third-year linebacker had been filling in as an edge rusher with Joey Bosa limited throughout Monday and Melvin Ingram (knee) currently on IR. The Chargers have a bye entering Week 6 which might allow for a host of injured players, including Nwosu, to make a return for Week 7.

Disappointing second season
Nwosu piled together 31 tackles (23 solo), two sacks and a forced fumble throughout the 2019 season.
ANALYSIS
The time is ticking on Nwosu becoming a valuable member of a burgeoning Chargers defense. The 2018 second-round pick saw his snap total increase by a marginal amount this year, but a paltry two sacks despite the increase in playing time is a bit of a worry. There isn't a lot that stands in the way of Nwosu once again securing a starting outside linebacker role in 2020, but he'll need to be significantly more productive in order to garner a long-term contract.

Ready to face Vikings
Nwosu (ankle) is active for Sunday's game against the Vikings.
ANALYSIS
Nwosu will avoid missing the first game of his career after being limited in practice all week. The 22-year-old has recorded 30 tackles and two sacks this season in a situational role.

Ready to rock
Nwosu (abdomen) wasn't listed on the Chargers' injury report for Wednesday's practice, suggesting he's fully healthy.
ANALYSIS
The USC product had been reportedly dealing with a sore abdomen, and was likely sidelined for rest purposes in the first place. Now that he's fully healthy, Nwosu is excepted to start along side Thomas Davis at outside linebacker for Week 1's showdown against the Colts.

Nursing abdominal injury
Nwosu was sidelined at Tuesday's practice due to an abdominal injury, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Nwosu had wrap around his abdomen as he sat out practice. He is reportedly just sore, so it makes sense for the team to let him rest in order to avoid a lingering issue. The 22-year-old suited up for all 16 games as a rookie on the Chargers last year including three starts. He is currently projected to start opposite Thomas Davis at outside linebacker come Week 1.
