Top 3 NBA Player Props for May 5: Can Durant Step It Up Tonight?

Top NBA Props

The NBA Playoffs are in Round 2. To start us off, the Philadelphia 76ers host the Boston Celtics in Game 3 of their semifinal playoff series.

Then the Phoenix Suns will be the home team when they take on the West’s number one seed, the Denver Nuggets. This gives us an excellent opportunity to use the OddsTrader tool to find the very best NBA player props.

Denver Nuggets vs. Phoenix Suns

Friday, May 05, 2023 – 10:00 PM EDT at Footprint Center

When the Phoenix Suns traded for Kevin Durant, they became the favorites to win the Western Conference.

Although the Nuggets are the number one seed in the West, the NBA odds pre-playoffs favored Phoenix to win the conference. However, Denver showed that it was unwise to overlook them when they took a 2-0 lead at home against the Phoenix Suns in their round two playoff series. Tonight’s game is in Phoenix and I would expect it to look a lot different.

Kevin Durant (Phoenix Suns)

Devin Booker has been the star of the show so far for the Phoenix Suns but if the Suns are to get this win tonight, they’re going to need better play from Kevin Durant, who is averaging 27.9 points per game over the course of the playoffs.

Durant has gone over tonight’s point prop total in three of his last four games. He did only have 24 points in the Suns’ Game 2 loss against the Nuggets, but he will be ready to get back on track with a strong performance tonight. With the Suns being back at home, we can expect the best from them with their season on the line. Our first player prop for the evening is Kevin Durant Over 28.5 points.

NBA Prop Pick: Kevin Durant Over 28.5 Points (-135) at Caesars Sportsbook

Boston Celtics vs. Philadelphia 76ers

Friday, May 05, 2023 – 07:30 PM EDT at Wells Fargo Center

The Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers take the floor for a pivotal Game 3. The series is currently tied 1-1. The Boston Celtics blew out the 76ers in Game 2. How will these teams fare when they take the court tonight?

Jayson Tatum (Boston Celtics)

Jayson Tatum has been getting plenty of double-doubles these playoffs. That’s because Tatum has been very efficient on the glass, averaging 9.8 rebounds per game over the course of the playoffs.

Tatum has gone over tonight’s rebounding total in two of the last three games and in five of the eight playoff games he’s played this postseason. Tatum’s ability to grab rebounds is huge for the Celtics’ defensive effort.

I expect a good showing from the Boston Celtics and their leader Jayson Tatum tonight. Our second play is Jayson Tatum Over 8.5 rebounds.

NBA Prop Pick: Jayson Tatum Over 8.5 Rebounds (-163) at Caesars Sportsbook

James Harden has been efficient these playoffs and he has done a great job of getting his teammates involved. Harden and the 76ers face a tough test tonight when they host the Boston Celtics.

The 76ers were able to steal Game 1 behind Harden’s greatness, but it will all be for naught if they lose tonight. The Philadelphia 76ers will be counting on James Harden to make sure that situation does not arise.

James Harden (Philadelphia 76ers)

James Harden has 45 assists so far this postseason and is averaging 7.5 assists per game in these playoffs. He only has 17 turnovers and only averages 2.8 turnovers per game. This gives us an impressive 2.6 assist-to-turnover ratio.

Harden is doing a good job of taking care of the ball and getting his teammates involved; he has reached double figures in assists twice so far this postseason, and both games were 76ers wins. I expect Harden to be active in getting his teammates involved tonight. Our third player prop for the evening is James Harden Over 7.5 assists.

NBA Prop Pick: James Harden Over 7.5 Assists (-145) at Bet365
