The streaky second-year wing is on the upswing again. The 3-20 Wizards should remain committed to a starting role for the 2023 No. 7 overall pick amid his growing pains, and Coulibaly remains a strong source of defensive stats for fantasy managers alongside decent production across the board while handling big minutes.

Coulibaly contributed 17 points (6-13 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 4-5 FT), five rebounds, four assists, one block and one steal across 28 minutes during Sunday's 140-112 loss to the Grizzlies.

Coulibaly posted a gem of a fantasy line Sunday and continues to break out for the Wizards in his second NBA campaign. It was a dreadful showing on offense by Coulibaly, who was totally off the mark Thursday and failed to make a single field goal, but he did record three steals to somewhat salvage his night. While Coulibaly put together an encouraging start to the season, he's now shooting a miserable 21.7 percent from the field and 15.4 percent from downtown over his last seven games, a cold spell in which he's averaging 6.9 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.7 steals in 34.6 minutes per contest. However, the minutes should remain somewhat high for the 2023 No. 7 overall pick as he tries to find his identity offensively on the reeling Wizards, who have now lost 16 straight games as they continue to rebuild.

Coulibaly ended with three points (1-6 FG, 1-4 3Pt), four rebounds, one assist and one steal across 31 minutes during Wednesday's 121-96 loss to the Clippers.

Following a promising start to the season in his first nine games, Coulibaly is beginning to struggle a bit lately. Over his last eight games, Coulibaly is averaging 9.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.4 steals per contest while shooting just 39.1 percent from the field during this period. The 20-year-old former No. 7 overall pick is still playing a prominent role in Washington's rotation, however, averaging 35.5 minutes per game during this time. Despite the current cold spell, his disruptive defense and ability to contribute across the board should help him maintain significant minutes for the Wizards moving ahead.

Coulibaly finished Sunday's 115-103 loss to the Pacers with 17 points (4-9 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 7-8 FT), six rebounds, four assists, two blocks and one steal in 38 minutes.

This was a terrific showing for Coulibaly, as his breakout season continues. With 14 regular-season games under his belt, he's averaging 14.3 points, 5.9 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 0.8 blocks, 1.3 steals and 1.1 three-pointers. His ability to contribute to every category has made him a valuable fantasy asset.

Coach Brian Keefe said that Coulibaly (head) will not operate under a minutes restriction in Friday's matchup against the Celtics, NBA reporter Bob Manning reports.

Through the first four games of the 2024-25 regular season, Coulibaly is averaging 18.8 points on 59.1 percent shooting, 5.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.5 steals across 34.0 minutes per contest.

The 19-year-old rookie is on a bit of a heater, scoring in double digits in five straight games while producing his first career double-double and shooting 40.0 percent (8-for-20) from three-point range. Coulibaly is averaging 13.2 points, 5.8 boards, 2.0 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.6 threes over that brief stretch with an eye-popping 60.5 percent shooting from the floor, and while he still has plenty to work on -- he's also shooting 46.2 percent from the free-throw line over those five games -- he's flashing the upside that compelled the Wizards to scoop him up with the seventh overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft.

Washington lost this game by a whopping 45 points, but the rookie was one of the few bright spots. With his ability to chip in across the board, Coulibaly offers some impressive versatility in fantasy basketball. Through four December games, Coulibaly has averaged 12.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.8 steals and 1.0 three-pointers.

Coulibaly logged 14 points (6-10 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 1-1 FT), three assists, three steals and a rebound through 28 minutes in Wednesday's 131-126 loss to the 76ers.

Coulibaly has consistently seen heavy minutes this season, especially as of recently. Since missing the Milwaukee game Nov. 24 due to a knee injury, the rookie forward has averaged 9.0 points, 3.6 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 1.8 steals and 0.4 blocks over 29.0 minutes. He and Corey Kispert lead the charge amongst the second unit for the Wizards, and as he develops through his first season, expect Coulibaly's role to potentially increase moving forward.

Coulibaly cooled off against the Knicks, but despite the dud, it's notable that he still played 31 minutes on the night. He's played at least 28 minutes in four straight contests, averaging 11.5 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.8 steals, 0.8 blocks and 1.8 three-pointers in that span. It's clear that he's earning the trust of the coaching staff.

Coulibaly amassed 20 points (8-12 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 0-1 FT), seven rebounds, three assists and four steals in 34 minutes during Sunday's 102-94 loss to the Nets.

Coulibaly had scored in double digits in just two of his previous eight appearances, including nine points in his first start back on Oct. 30, but he destroyed those numbers and recorded his best outing of the season here. Coulibaly is still raw to log heavy minutes on a regular basis, but he seems to be improving and is a player worth watching as the season progresses, particularly in dynasty and keeper formats.

Coulibaly hit double-digit scoring for the first time in his young career, despite logging his second-fewest minutes of the season. His game is raw but Coulibaly is an intense defender, so his 7-foot-2 wingspan not fueling more steal and block production in his rotation role is peculiar.

Coulibaly isn't in the starting five for Wednesday's game versus the Hawks.

Mike Muscala will replace Coulibaly in the starting lineup Wednesday, with Daniel Gafford (ankle) still out. Coulibaly has flashed his defensive potential already this season and should be one of Washington's first options off the bench at the forward position.

Coulibaly will start Monday's game against the Celtics.

Daniel Gafford is sidelined, and the Wizards are opting for a small lineup with Tyus Jones, Jordan Poole, Deni Avdija and Kyle Kuzma surrounding Coulibaly, who'll be making his first regular-season start in the NBA. Across his first two games, the rookie has averaged 1.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 2.0 blocks in 18.5 minutes, but he figures to see an uptick in playing time and production versus Boston.

Coulibaly had three points (1-3 FG, 1-1 3Pt), four rebounds, three assists and three blocks over 23 minutes in Wednesday's 143-120 loss to the Pacers.

Coulibaly, the seventh overall pick of the 2023 NBA Draft, didn't get into the scoring mix Wednesday but did lead the team in blocks. He did also have three turnovers, the second-most on the team behind Jordan Poole, but that's to be expected for a rookie. He'll continue to get meaningful minutes off the bench and will look to build off his NBA debut Saturday when the Wizards host the Grizzlies.

Coulibaly continues to struggle with his efficiency, but he has certainly flashed his defensive potential. The No. 7 pick in the 2023 NBA Draft will likely come off the bench to start his rookie year for Washington.

Coulibaly did most of his damage at the rim, as he is yet to find his shot in this year's Summer League. Despite his shooting struggles, he was able to impact the game on the defensive end, consistently making opposing players take tough shots. Coulibaly also hit a clutch shot down the stretch that sealed the win, he continues to have flashes of great play.

Though Coulibaly's closing stat line is uninspiring, most of his contributions came from outside of the box score. He consistently guarded the Pacers' best player, which was mostly Bennedict Mathurin, who finished the contest 9-of-21 from the field and 3-of-10 from beyond the arc. Considering Coulibaly is a long-term project for the Wizards, growing pains are to be expected. However, he showcased some flashes of his sky-high ceiling Saturday, especially on the defensive end, and should continue to see plenty of Summer League action.
