He'll have to look for a fresh start elsewhere, but after his tumultuous playoffs, he may have to settle for a league-minimum deal this offseason.

While he has been doing a lot of talking in the media, his on-court play has left a lot to be desired. Should the Grizzlies have any chance of erasing the 3-1 deficit, Brooks is going to have to be much better than this. Based on what we saw from him throughout the regular season, that feels unlikely.

Brooks was assessed a Flagrant 2 foul and got ejected during the second half of Game 3 against the Lakers on Saturday, Mark Medina of NBA.com reports.

Memphis sat Desmond Bane (foot), Jaren Jackson (calf) and Tyus Jones (foot) on the second night of a back-to-back, which allowed Brooks to take 24 shots, only trailing Ja Morant. The former second-round pick had 30 points, nine rebounds and six assists in his last three games combined, making Wednesday's performance even more impressive. With the Grizzlies nearly locked into the two seed, there may be more rest coming that could give Brooks opportunities like he had Wednesday.

Brooks continues to take a ton of ill-advised shots, a trend that is all too familiar at this point. You would think he would take the hint after his first shot of the game cannoned off the side of the backboard, but alas, that was not the case. He continues to be a better-than-average wing defender, basically, all that is keeping him on the floor. If we have learned anything from watching Brooks over the past couple of years, it's that he will continue to shoot the ball no matter what. Based on his volume, he can be streamed in for points and triples, assuming efficiency is low on your list of priorities.

Brooks picked up his 18th technical foul of the season in Monday's 112-108 win over the Mavericks, triggering an automatic one-game suspension unless the NBA elects to rescind the foul, Damichael Cole of The Memphis Commercial Appeal reports. He tallied nine points (3-9 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five assists, four rebounds and one steal.

Brooks drew his NBA-leading 18th technical foul with 7:26 remaining in the third quarter, when officials whistled him for taunting after a dunk. It's the latest in a long line of infractions for Brooks, who was already suspended for a March 5 loss to the Clippers after picking up his 16th technical of the season in the Grizzlies' preceding contest. The 27-year-old was also fined $35,000 after shoving a camera person in a March 15 loss to the Heat. With Brooks now in line to miss Wednesday's game against the Rockets, the Grizzlies will be without their top perimeter defender and one of their top secondary scoring options, but his loss should be offset to some degree by the potential return of Ja Morant, who has completed his eight-game suspension and could be ready to play versus Houston if he's fully reconditioned.

Efficiency has been an issue for Brooks throughout his career and even more this season, but that hasn't deterred him from continuing to put up shots with reckless abandon. Head coach Taylor Jenkins may have less patience with Brooks needing 19 shots to get 19 points if the team was at full strength, but with Ja Morant (personal) having now missed five games in a row and facing an uncertain timeline for a return, the veteran wing looks as though he'll have license to keep firing away from deep. Brooks is averaging 13.5 points, 3.5 assists, 3.3 rebounds, 2.3 three-pointers and 1.0 steals in 31.8 minutes while appearing in four of the five games since Morant exited the numbers, and those numbers are enough to make him a useful player in 12-team points leagues and in category leagues in which managers are punting field-goal percentage.

Brooks finished Thursday's 131-110 win over the Warriors with 14 points (6-15 FG, 1-7 3Pt, 1-1 FT), four rebounds, six assists, one block and one steal across 34 minutes.

Brooks delivered an improved performance Thursday, ending with 14 points while matching his season high with six assists. Despite his shooting woes, Brooks continues to play heavy minutes for the Grizzlies. His shortcomings make him a hard player to trust, even in slightly deeper formats. However, if you can overlook his percentages, he typically does enough to be streamed in for points and threes.

Brooks racked up eight points (3-10 FG, 2-5 3Pt), three rebounds, two assists and one steal across 33 minutes during Friday's 113-97 loss to Denver.

Brooks certainly stirred the pot in this game, getting into it with both Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic. He picked up his 16th technical foul in the process, and that will result in a one-game suspension Sunday against the Clippers. Luke Kennard and John Konchar are candidates to pick up the slack in his absence.

The Grizzlies secured a comfortable 15-point win over the Bulls on Tuesday, but Brooks didn't do much as a scorer and missed 10 of his 12 shots from the field. The veteran guard has scored in single digits in each of his last four contests while shooting a meager 27 percent from the field in that span.

Brooks has been suspended for one game -- Sunday against the Raptors -- for striking Donovan Mitchell in the groin during Thursday's loss to the Cavaliers.

Efficiency has been a major flaw in his game, currently going at just 39.7 percent from the floor for the season. He is outside the top 200 in standard formats, putting him firmly in the streaming conversation, as opposed to being must-roster.

Brooks posted nine points (4-17 FG, 1-4 3Pt), six rebounds, three assists and one steal in 31 minutes before fouling out of Friday's 122-121 loss to the Lakers.

Brooks is shooting a career-worst 39.8 percent from the field on the year, and Friday's effort only dragged his efficiency down further. Brooks' contributions in multiple categories keep him on the fantasy radar in some formats, but he's far from a must-start, and his shooting woes can be challenging to overcome. Brooks is shooting just 32.3 percent from the field, 18.8 percent from three-point range and 62.6 percent from the free-throw line over his last five appearances.

The 26-year-old remains a steady source of secondary offense for the Grizzlies despite a couple hiccups at the end of December. Brooks has scored at least 15 points in 12 of his last 16 games, averaging 17.3 points, 2.9 boards, 2.6 assists and 2.3 threes over that stretch.

Brooks was unimpactful in the victory, continuing to cede touches to the returning Desmond Bane. Now barely inside the top 200 for the season, Brooks is looking more and more like a specialist only, especially in competitive leagues. His 17.3 points per game can be valuable but his lack of peripheral numbers combined with woeful percentages means he can certainly do more harm than good.

Ja Morant needed 19 shots to score 19 points, but Brooks stepped his game up on offense and carried the Grizzlies to victory here. This was a huge bounce-back effort for him, as he was coming off four straight games in which he couldn't surpass the 16-point plateau while struggling massively with his shot. One game is not going to erase all the recent struggles, but this was certainly a step in the right direction.

The Memphis forward hit six threes in the contest, which matched a season high, though his effort fell short as the Grizzlies were still unable to claw their way back late. It was Brooks' third game this season with 30 or more points while he also made a season-high six free throws in the contest.

He was also able to impact the game as a distributor and rebounder, matching season-high assist and rebound totals.

Brooks produced 19 points (4-16 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 8-8 FT), four rebounds, three assists and a blocked shot across 26 minutes in Saturday's 111-103 win over the Warriors.

A perfect 8-for-8 from the charity stripe helped save Brooks' stat line amidst a sub-par shooting night. Brooks' offensive output has fluctuated widely over most of the season, and the two-game set against the Warriors was a perfect example of his unpredictability. He'll continue to hold down the starting role at small forward, but expectations for Brooks should be tempered despite his appearance in Memphis' first unit.

Brooks turned in 13 points (6-14 FG, 1-3 3Pt) and an assist across 29 minutes in Monday's 122-99 loss to the Suns.

Shot volume is the key to success for Brooks, and while he achieved that with 14 attempts, he didn't hit enough to be fully relevant. Brooks is rarely going to give you a lot in the ancillary categories and is almost entirely dependent on a good night of shooting from the field. If he faces a team that is poor in defending the perimeter, he'll be slightly more effective due to increased opportunity from beyond the arc.

He's best viewed as a two-category contributor (points and three-pointers) in 12-team leagues.

No one can complain about Brooks' recent four-game stretch, where he's averaged 19.0 points, 2-5 assists, 2.3 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game.

Brooks has passed the 20-point mark in six games already, and he has accomplished that feat in two of his last four contests. Brooks can be effective both as a second-best or third-best scoring option, and while he's capable of putting up big numbers on a nightly basis, his lack of consistency certainly conspires against his upside.

He entered the half with nine points and little chance to surpass his previous scoring high (24), but that role during the third quarter was what he needed in more ways than one. In particular, Brooks shook off a dry spell in which he shot 30.2 percent across his previous five games.

Since Ja Morant returned from a Grade 2 left ankle sprain Jan. 16, Brooks has predictably took a back seat as a scorer for the Grizzlies, and his poor shooting over the last four games has further undermined his offensive production. He's averaging 10.3 points on 31.3 percent shooting from the field and 25 percent shooting from downtown in those contests.

Shooting woes for Brooks hit a new low point as he went for a season low of three points while the team was still able to sneak out its fifth win in a row. The 24-year-old forward has never been a particularly dead-eyed shooter, but things have taken a turn for the worse so far this season as he's at 36.9 percent from the floor at 30.5 percent from downtown through 13 games. The 22 minutes for Brooks also marked a season low and that trend could continue if the shooting doesn't improve.

Brooks got off to a strong start this season and averaged 19.2 points per game over his first five appearances, but he has cooled off since then and has scored 13 points or fewer in five of his seven subsequent contests. What's even more worrisome is perhaps the fact that he is shooting just 35.2 percent from the field and 29.3 percent from three-point range during that seven-game stretch.

Brooks should remain Memphis' go-to player on offense while Ja Morant (ankle) remains out, but he needs to improve his shooting numbers. Over his last five appearances, he's made just 38.7 percent of his shots and 31.3 percent of his three-point attempts.

Brooks has settled as Memphis' go-to guy on offense in absence of Ja Morant (ankle), and he has embraced that role -- he has scored 20 or more points in his last two games while reaching that feat four times already. Brooks also played more than 30 minutes for the first time since Dec. 28, and he should continue to be one of the Grizzlies' main scoring threats in the short-term scenario.

He has been struggling with his shot of late, as Brooks had made just 34.2 percent of his field-goal attempts prior to this game, but his performance could be the confidence booster he's been looking for in recent days.

During this stretch, Brook's peripheral stats have been solid, averaging 3.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.3 steals in addition to his 11.0 points. He's remained aggressive, launching 13.7 shots (6.0 threes) per contest, but without Ja Morant (ankle) in the fold, defenses have been able to key in on Brooks, which has made it harder for him to get clean looks off.

Dating back to last season, Brooks has scored 15 or more points in 13 of his last 16 appearances, a total he'll have to keep up for Memphis to collect wins without Ja Morant or Jaren Jackson in the short-term.

Brooks totaled 16 points (7-14 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 1-1 FT), six assists, four rebounds and two steals in 33 minutes of Wednesday's 131-119 loss to the Spurs.

Shooting 50.0 percent from the field is a nice start to the season for Brooks. The assist total was even more eye-popping, as the 24-year-old averaged just 2.1 per game last season. A step forward in that category would mean a similar increase in fantasy value, as well.

Brooks scored 17 points (6-13 FG, 5-8 3Pt, 0-1 FT) across 20 minutes in Saturday's preseason loss to the Hawks.

Brooks contributed little in the way of peripheral stats (one rebound, one assist, one steal), but he paced the team in scoring while going 5-of-8 from beyond the arc. The fourth-year guard appears locked into a starting role and could be a strong source of three-pointers this season. Over the four-game exhibition slate, Brooks averaged 16.5 points and 2.5 treys per contest.

Now a mainstay in the starting lineup, Brooks really turned things on in the Orland bubble, whee he averaged 20-1 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.7 assists. He also played an average of 33.1 minutes per game in the nine-contest restart. The 2017 second-round pick is poised to have a breakout year alongside Ja Morant and can be found near the end of 12-team drafts.

Expect Brooks to be a regular name in the team's starting lineup once the regular season begins next week.

Brooks saved his best game for last as the Grizzlies secured themselves a spot in the play-in tournament. After an indifferent few games, he was able to find his offensive rhythm and the Grizzlies will be hoping he can maintain the shooter's touch against the Trail Blazers. He may also be tasked with defending Damian Lillard and so he will be a crucial part of the outcome, whether good or bad.

Brooks' 25 points were a team-high, but he needed 26 attempts to get there, and he took some ill-advised shots at key points in the second half. The former Oregon stand out added two assists and three steals to his final line.

Brooks had struggled through the first two scrimmages, but he finally found his stroke Tuesday, hitting eight of 12 field goal attempts, including four from beyond the arc. The Oregon product did turn the ball over four times, however. Expect Brooks to start at shooting guard when seeding games begin.

Brooks hasn't topped the 15-point plateau in four straight games, but the most worrying stat is the fact that he is shooting just 33.9 percent from the field and 26.1 percent from three-point range during that four-game stretch. He will try to turn things around Tuesday at home against the Magic.

All of the Grizzlies starters suffered a downward slide in production in the blowout loss. Aa Memphis tries to hang on to a playoff spot, Brooks has ramped up production at the tight time while the team deals with the loss of Jaren Jackson (knee) and Brandon Clarke (quad). With a stellar 32-point game against the Kings and a 24-point showing against the Lakers recently added to his resume, Brooks is an excellent upside target down the stretch.

Brooks has topped the 20-point mark in each of his last three games, and he seems to be getting hotter for the stretch run of the regular season. His 41.7 percent from the field during that three-game stretch isn't ideal, but the talented shooting guard has been producing enough to avoid his poor percentages -- at least for now.

Brooks registered 32 points (12-22 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 5-5 FT), two rebounds, one assist and one block in 40 minutes during Friday's 104-101 loss against the Kings.

Brooks topped the 30-point plateau for the third time this season but his value here was mostly tied to what he did scoring the rock. That has been the case through most of the season, as the shooting guard -- who signed a contract extension with the Grizzlies earlier this month -- is averaging a career-best 15.6 points per game in 2019-20.

Brooks scored in excess of 20 points for the first time this month, a feat he achieved 10 times during January. Over the past two weeks, he is outside the top-350 and so this was a welcome sight for those that may have been holding him in competitive leagues. The 26 shot attempts were a season-high and although he converted on only nine, perhaps this is the start of a nice stretch for Brooks.

That's two single-digit scoring efforts in a row after going seven-straight games of double figures beforehand. Outside of these two duds, Brooks has made himself into one of the best surprises of the fantasy season, leaping onto the standard-league scene after producing a value that only a 30-team-leaguer could love in 2018-19's injury-riddled season. The 24-year old is posting career-highs across the board, and, after signing a new, three-year contract extension just a few days ago, Brooks has become an integral part of the Grizzlies' future.

Brooks agreed to a three-year, $35 million with the Grizzlies on Wednesday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.

Brooks had somewhat of a quiet game in Wednesday's win over the Mavericks with 13 points (5-14 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), six rebounds, two assists and two steals, but he's in the midst of a breakout season for the Grizzlies and is set to remain with the team for the near future. The 24-year-old has started every game this season and entered Wednesday averaging 16.1 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 0.9 steals in 28.3 minutes.

Brooks offered 15 points (7-15 FG, 1-3 3Pt), five assists, four rebounds and one block across 30 minutes Monday in the Grizzlies' 96-82 win over the Pistons.

After four consecutive 20-plus-point outings, Brooks has managed 25 points combined in his last two games, but he at least made up for it Monday by contributing in other areas. The rebound, assist and block production all exceeded Brooks' season-long averages, so the solid all-around showing doesn't look particularly sustainable. That said, Brooks is still worth holding in 12-team leagues for fantasy managers looking to make up ground in points and three-pointers.

Brooks filled it up in terms of scoring, though he did almost nothing else. This is his fourth straight showing with 20-plus points, and while the minimal production in most of the other categories (apart from threes) is fairly typical, he is averaging career highs in scoring, rebounding, assists, steals, threes and blocks while shooting a career-best percentage from deep and at the charity stripe.

The third-year guard is averaging 23.0 points per game while shooting 44.4 percent from deep during that six-game stretch, but he will endure a tough road matchup against the Celtics on Wednesday.

Brooks had 26 points (9-16 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 4-4 FT), two rebounds and one assist in 28 minutes during Friday's 113-109 victory over Cleveland.

Brooks kept his foot on the gas Friday, scoring a team-high 26 points including four triples. He has been a top-60 player over the past two weeks, putting together arguably the best stretch of his career. The production is likely to regress at some point but until that happens, Brooks should be added in all 12-team leagues.

He is potentially becoming a viable fantasy asset, as the scoring uptick is accompanied by versatile stats on a night-to-night basis. The Grizzlies are 12-0 when he scores 20 or more points.

Someone must have told Brooks to shoot more, or maybe he just took it upon himself, but he has attempted at least 19 shots in three of his past four games. He had not attempted that many field goals in a single contest all season until this recent run.

Brooks delivered his second-highest scoring output of the season, and he has been scoring at a high rate of late -- he is averaging 20.8 points on 48.2 shooting from the field and 46.2 percent from three-point range during his last five outings. Undoubtedly, this has been his hottest stretch during what has been a career-year for the third-year guard so far.

Brooks (shoulder) is available Saturday against the Jazz.

Despite some right shoulder soreness, Brooks will be good to go Saturday. Across the past five games, he's averaging 13.0 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 27.8 minutes.
