Jericho Sims Injury News & Updates
Keep up with the latest injuries from the Celtics vs Bucks game on Thursday with our National Basketball Association injury report.Dec 7, 2025
Comes up empty again Saturday
Sims ended with two points (1-1 FG), three rebounds, one assist and one steal in 31 minutes during Saturday's 124-112 loss to the Pistons.
ANALYSIS
Sims was a non-factor yet again, despite starting for the second straight game. In all his wisdom, head coach Doc Rivers seems to favor Sims as the replacement for Giannis Antetokounmpo (knee). Unless he knows something we don't, it doesn't seem as though it is worth the attention of fantasy managers.
Dec 5, 2025
Starting sans Antetokounmpo
Sims will start against the 76ers on Friday.
ANALYSIS
With Giannis Antetokounmpo (calf) sidelined, Sims will get the starting nod for the second time this season. Over his last five appearances (one start), the 27-year-old big man has averaged 5.2 points and 6.4 rebounds across 19.8 minutes per contest.
Dec 4, 2025
Career-best effort Wednesday
Sims finished with 15 points (7-7 FG, 1-1 FT), 14 rebounds and one assist over 30 minutes off the bench during Wednesday's 113-109 win over the Pistons.
ANALYSIS
The 30 minutes were a season high for Sims, as he took on a much larger role than usual after Giannis Antetokounmpo (calf) exited the game after just three minutes, and the fifth-year center responded by setting a new career scoring high and tying his personal best in boards. The double-double was his first of the season and first since 2022-23 with the Knicks, but Sims should see his workload increase at least a little for however long Giannis is missing from the Bucks frontcourt.
Nov 26, 2025
Back to bench Wednesday
Sims is not in the Bucks' starting lineup against the Heat on Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Sims made his first start of the season Monday against the Trail Blazers, though he played just 11 minutes and finished with zero points (0-1 FG) and one rebound. He'll come off the bench for Wednesday's tilt while Gary Trent enters the Bucks' starting five.
Nov 24, 2025
Making first start of season
Sims is in the starting lineup for Monday's game against the Trail Blazers.
ANALYSIS
Sims will join the first unit for the first time this season given the absence of Giannis Antetokounmpo (groin). Bobby Portis drew a pair of starts in Milwaukee's previous two matchups without Antetokounmpo, but it'll be Sims who gets a look Monday evening. He's averaging 2.8 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.0 assists in his last five appearances off the bench.
Nov 13, 2025
Grabs seven boards in loss
Sims recorded two points (1-2 FG), seven rebounds and two assists over 18 minutes during Wednesday's 111-100 loss to Charlotte.
ANALYSIS
After logging two DNPs, Sims sees the court for 18 minutes, presumably due to the absence of Giannis Antetokounmpo (knee). Unless injuries keep the Bucks' frontcourt from playing, Sims will likely not see the court meaningfully.
Nov 5, 2025
Sees seven minutes
Sims recorded three rebounds over seven minutes during Tuesday's 128-100 loss to the Raptors.
ANALYSIS
Although Sims is the backup center in Milwaukee, his minutes are often limited with the Bucks opting go smaller -- Bobby Portis is also utilized at center. Across five appearances, Sims has averaged 4.4 minutes per contest.
Oct 27, 2025
Limited to eight minutes
Sims accumulated two points (1-1 FG) and one block across eight minutes during Sunday's 118-113 loss to the Cavaliers.
ANALYSIS
With three regular-season games in the books, Sims has made two appearances so far with an average of 4.7 minutes per contest. At least while Myles Turner and Bobby Portis are active, there won't be many minutes available.
Jul 1, 2025
Agrees to deal with Bucks
Sims agreed to a two-year deal with the Bucks on Tuesday, ESPN's Shams Charania reports.
ANALYSIS
The deal includes a player option for the second season. Sims will compete for the backup center role in Milwaukee with Myles Turner joining the club. In 53 regular-season appearances in 2025-26, Sims produced averages of 1.8 points, 3.7 rebounds and 0.4 blocks in 11.9 minutes across 53 appearances.
Mar 17, 2025
Undergoes thumb surgery
Sims underwent surgery Monday to repair a torn ligament in his right thumb and is expected to be sidelined for approximately four weeks, Eric Nehm of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Sims popped up on the Bucks' injury report ahead of Sunday's game against the Thunder, but he still managed to play 12 minutes and log four rebounds, one assist and one block in the loss. The injury was severe enough to warrant a procedure, but Sims is expected to be fully recovered by the start of the playoffs. Sims' absence could lead to Giannis Antetokounmpo playing more at center when Brook Lopez is on the bench, as well as more minutes off the bench for Chris Livingston and Pete Nance.
Mar 16, 2025
Good to go against OKC
Sims (thumb) is available for Sunday's game against the Thunder.
ANALYSIS
Sims is working through a right thumb sprain, and head coach Doc Rivers told reporters Sunday that the injury is severe enough that surgery is considered a possibility, per Justin Garcia of Locked on Bucks. Sims will continue to play for now, but how his thumb responds Sunday will be a factor on whether he undergoes a procedure or play through the injury.
Mar 16, 2025
Questionable Sunday
Sims is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Thunder due to a right thumb sprain.
ANALYSIS
The right thumb sprain is a new injury for Sims, who has made 13 consecutive appearances for Milwaukee. The big man has averaged 2.6 points and 4.9 rebounds across 15.2 minutes per contest in that 13-game span.
Mar 14, 2025
Pulls down 11 rebounds
Sims chipped in four points (2-2 FG), 11 rebounds and one assist in 18 minutes during Thursday's 126-106 win over the Lakers.
ANALYSIS
This game was over in a hurry, allowing Sims to enjoy some garbage time to close this game out. As long as Brook Lopez is healthy, there's not much to like about Sims' fantasy appeal -- he's averaging just 15.1 minutes over his last 10 outings.
Feb 7, 2025
Good to go against Atlanta
Sims (recently traded) is available for Friday's game versus the Hawks.
ANALYSIS
Sims has been upgraded from questionable to available Friday, as the trade that sent him from the Knicks to the Bucks has been finalized. However, the 26-year-old big man is unlikely to receive significant playing time in Milwaukee's frontcourt.
Feb 7, 2025
Questionable to debut Friday
Sims (recently traded) is listed as questionable for Friday's game against the Hawks.
ANALYSIS
Sims is questionable to make his Bucks debut after having been traded to Milwaukee on Wednesday. The big man will likely see a slight bump in playing time compared to the 10.8 minutes per game he averaged with the Knicks, and he should provide valuable depth at the center position behind Brook Lopez (knee).
Feb 5, 2025
Headed to Milwaukee via trade
The Knicks traded Sims to the Bucks as part of a trade that sent Khris Middleton to Washington and Kyle Kuzma to Milwaukee, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Sims will provide center depth for the Bucks behind Brook Lopez. Sims hasn't averaged more than 16 minutes per game in any of his four seasons in New York, and he averaged just 1.6 points and 3.3 rebounds across 10.8 minutes with the Knicks this season. Given the Bucks' current roster, Sims shouldn't be expected to see a significant bump in playing time. However, Milwaukee is expected to be active ahead of Thursday's trade deadline, which could potentially open more opportunities for Sims.
Jan 20, 2025
Returns to bench
Sims will come off the bench for Monday's game against the Hawks.
ANALYSIS
This is an expected move with Karl-Anthony Towns (thumb) returning from a two-game absence. Sims doesn't always crack the rotation when Towns is active for New York.
Jan 17, 2025
Starting against Minnesota
Sims is starting in Friday's game against the Timberwolves, Ian Begley of SportsNet New York reports.
ANALYSIS
With Karl-Anthony Towns (wrist) out Friday, Sims will get the start at center for the Knicks. Sims has averaged 6.0 rebounds, 4.0 points and 1.0 assists in 19.1 minutes over four games as a starter this season, and Precious Achiuwa should also play a significant role off New York's bench against Minnesota.
Jan 15, 2025
Starting sans Towns
Sims will start in Wednesday's game against the 76ers, Steve Popper of Newsday reports.
ANALYSIS
Sims will start for the injured Karl-Anthony Towns (thumb) on Wednesday. Sims has averaged 5.7 rebounds, 2.7 points and 1.3 assists in 17.9 minutes over three games as a starter this year.
Jan 15, 2025
Available Wednesday
Sims (back) is available for Wednesday's game against the 76ers, Steve Popper of Newsday reports.
ANALYSIS
After being upgraded to probable, Sims will fight off lower back spasms to suit up for the Knicks on Wednesday. With Karl-Anthony Towns (thumb) out, Sims would appear to be in line for a spot start at center, although New York could elect to deploy Precious Achiuwa in its first unit with superstar big man Joel Embiid (foot) sidelined for Philadelphia.
Jan 15, 2025
Upgraded to probable
Sims (back) is probable for Wednesday's game against the 76ers.
ANALYSIS
Sims and Karl-Anthony Towns (thumb) were both listed as questionable initially, but Towns has been downgraded to doubtful, while Sims has been upgraded to probable. Sims drew a spot start in Towns' stead against the Magic on Jan. 6 and posted four points, 10 rebounds, two assists and a block in 29 minutes.
Jan 14, 2025
Questionable for Wednesday
Sims (back) is questionable for Wednesday's game against the 76ers.
ANALYSIS
After being a late scratch ahead of Monday's loss to the Pistons, Sims is in danger of missing consecutive games Wednesday due to lower back spasms. If the 26-year-old big man can't play, the Knicks would likely look to lean on Karl-Anthony Towns (thumb) if he's available, and Precious Achiuwa would handle New York's backup center role against Philadelphia.
Jan 13, 2025
Late scratch Monday
Sims will not play against the Pistons on Monday due to back spasms, Ian Begley of SportsNet New York reports.
ANALYSIS
Sims was a late addition to Monday's injury report due to back spasms, and they appear serious enough for him to miss Monday's game. His absence won't impact the Knicks' rotation that much as he was a healthy DNP in New York's last two games.
Jan 8, 2025
Shifts back to bench
Sims will come off the bench for Wednesday's game against Toronto.
ANALYSIS
Sims delivered four points and 10 rebounds in a spot start Monday against Orlando, but he'll return to a reserve role Wednesday with Karl-Anthony Towns (knee0 active. Sims had played fewer than four minutes in five consecutive appearances before the start.
Jan 7, 2025
Crashes glass in loss
Sims had four points (2-4 FG), 10 rebounds, two assists and one block over 29 minutes during Monday's 103-94 loss to the Magic.
ANALYSIS
Sims had to shoulder the load for Karl-Anthony Towns (knee) during Monday's game against the Magic. Although he couldn't replace what Towns does offensively, Sims did crash the glass, recording double-digit rebounds for the second time this season.
Jan 6, 2025
Making spot start
Sims will start Monday's game against the Magic, Steve Popper of Newsday reports.
ANALYSIS
Sims will take over down low in the absence of Karl-Anthony Towns (knee), but Sims has averaged a mere 3.5 rebounds, 2.0 points and 1.0 assists in two games as a starter this season. Fantasy managers should turn to Precious Achiuwa for a more appealing streaming option Monday.
Dec 30, 2024
Fails to score in win
Sims produced one rebound over two minutes during Monday's 126-106 win over the Wizards.
ANALYSIS
Sims logged minutes for just the second time in the past four games, both of which have been no more than two minutes. With Karl-Anthony Towns and Precious Achiuwa healthy, Sims' role is basically non-existent at this point.
Dec 9, 2024
Retreats to bench Monday
Sims will come off the bench in Monday's game against the Raptors, Blake Murphy of Sportsnet.ca reports.
ANALYSIS
With Karl-Anthony Towns returning from a one-game absence, Sims will slide back to the bench. The big man posted one assist across only six minutes in the starting lineup during Saturday's loss to Detroit. Sims will likely play an insignificant role off the bench while competing for minutes with Precious Achiuwa.
Dec 7, 2024
Starting Saturday sans KAT
Sims is in the Knicks' starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Pistons, Stefan Bondy of The New York Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Sims will make his second start of the 2024-25 regular season Saturday due to Karl-Anthony Towns (knee) being sidelined. Sims has yet to score more than 10 points in a game this season, but he should give the Knicks plenty of energy on both ends of the floor.
Dec 2, 2024
Pulls down 13 boards
Sims supplied four points (2-2 FG), 13 rebounds, two assists and one steal in 23 minutes during Sunday's 118-85 win over the Pelicans.
ANALYSIS
This was the fifth game of Sims' career with at least 13 rebounds, and he finished one board shy of his career high. He took advantage of some garbage time in this blowout win, eclipsing 20 minutes for just the second time this campaign.
Nov 15, 2024
Starting sans KAT
Sims will start Friday's game against the Nets, James L. Edwards III of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
With Karl-Anthony Towns (knee) a surprise scratch, Sims will make his first start of the season. Sims played 24 minutes during the season-opening loss to Boston, posting four points, nine rebounds and two blocks, but he's seen 16 or fewer minutes in every game since. He made 11 starts last season, averaging 4.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and 0.8 blocks in 22.7 minutes per game during those contests.
Nov 5, 2024
Minimal impact so far
Sims is averaging 1.3 points, 4.2 rebounds and 0.5 blocks per game across six appearances off the bench this season.
ANALYSIS
Sims was expected to contend for a spot in a depleted frontcourt without Mitchell Robinson (ankle) and Precious Achiuwa (hamstring), but such hasn't been the case. The Knicks have played Karl-Anthony Towns at center and have elected to go with forwards at center in small-ball lineups rather than handing Sims heavy minutes. Thus, Sims shouldn't be rostered in any format, and his playing time will be even more scarce once Robinson or Achiuwa are ready to return to the hardwood.
Oct 18, 2024
Not starting vs. Wizards
Sims is not in the starting lineup for Friday's preseason game against the Wizards, Kristian Winfield of the New York Daily News reports.
ANALYSIS
The Knicks have shifted their entire starting unit for this preseason finale, and Sims will head back to the bench since head coach Tom Thibodeau has decided to roll what figures to be his starting lineup for the regular-season opener at Boston next Tuesday. Sims is competing with Precious Achiuwa for the backup center role behind Karl-Anthony Towns while Mitchell Robinson (ankle) is sidelined.
Oct 15, 2024
Receives start vs. Hornets
Sims will enter the starting lineup in Tuesday's preseason game against the Hornets, James L. Edwards III of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Sims will enter the starting lineup with the club deciding to rest its normal starters Tuesday. The 25-year-old is expected to serve as the Knicks' third-string center behind Karl-Anthony Towns (rest) and Precious Achiuwa until Mitchell Robinson (ankle) returns to game action. Sims will likely struggle to find consistent playing time when Robinson does make his return.
Oct 13, 2024
Returns to action
Sims (ankle) will return to play during Sunday's preseason game against the Timberwolves.
ANALYSIS
Sims suffered an ankle sprain Wednesday against the Wizards but he will be able to play in Sunday's contest. Sims will likely see a limited role backing up Karl-Anthony Towns.
Oct 9, 2024
Suffers sprained ankle
Sims exited Wednesday's 117-94 preseason win over the Wizards after sustaining a sprained ankle, Kristian Winfield of the New York Daily News reports.
ANALYSIS
Sims' night was over right after it started, suffering the injury in his second minute of play. The center didn't record any counting stats. The severity of the sprain is unclear, but his next chance to play will come Sunday against the Timberwolves.
Jun 29, 2024
Knicks pick up team option
The Knicks have picked up Sims' $2.1 million team option Saturday, Stefan Bondy of The New York Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Sims will return to the Knicks for at least one more year. This comes amid uncertainty around Isaiah Hartenstein's future with the club, as the Knicks have reported interest in bringing the big man back. Sims appeared in 45 regular-season games last year, during which he averaged 2.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, 0.6 assists and 0.4 blocks across a career-low 13.0 minutes per game
May 18, 2024
Rare appearance in loss
Sims racked up one rebound, one assist and one block across four minutes during Friday's 116-103 loss to the Pacers in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
ANALYSIS
Sims played four minutes of garbage time as the Knicks were soundly beaten by the Pacers. Known for playing his stars' heavy minutes, even in losses, common sense prevailed with Tom Thibodeau closing with his second unit. Despite another ankle injury to Mitchell Robinson, Sims has been unable to carve out a consistent role, something that doesn't bode well for his future when looking beyond this season.
Apr 30, 2024
Good to go Tuesday
Sims (shoulder) is available for Tuesday's Game 5 agains the 76ers.
ANALYSIS
Sims has been upgraded from probable to available Tuesday despite dealing with right shoulder inflammation. However, the 25-year-old big man has yet to receive any playing time in the first four games of the series.
Apr 29, 2024
Likely to play in Game 5
Sims is probable for Tuesday's Game 5 against the 76ers due to right shoulder inflammation.
ANALYSIS
Sims hasn't appeared in the first four games of the Knicks' first-round series, but he's dealing with a shoulder issue ahead of Game 5. While he'll likely be able to suit up, Sims is unlikely to see much playing time, even if Mitchell Robinson (ankle) misses another contest.
Apr 14, 2024
Back to bench
Sims won't start Sunday's game against the Bulls.
ANALYSIS
Sims drew a spot start Friday and posted two points, four rebounds and a block in 23 minutes during a win over the Nets. However, Isaiah Hartenstein (Achilles/rest) has been cleared to return following a one-game absence and will reclaim his spot as the starting center. Sims may fall out of the rotation completely, as Mitchell Robinson figures to operate as the primary backup.
Apr 12, 2024
Draws start at center
Sims is starting Friday's game against the Nets, Fred Katz of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Sims hasn't been a part of the Knicks' rotation of late, but he'll get an opportunity to show what he can do Friday. Mitchell Robinson and Precious Achiuwa should also factor into the mix at center.
Feb 29, 2024
Moves back to bench role
Sims is not in the starting lineup to face the Warriors on Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Sims has been experiencing an uptick in minutes with the recent absences of Isaiah Hartenstein and the fact that Mitchell Robinson is out for the rest of the season with an ankle injury. However, now that Harteinstein is back and available, Sims will return to his role as the backup center. The former Texas standout is averaging 3.6 points, 5.9 rebounds and 0.8 blocks per game in February.
Feb 27, 2024
Blocks tow shots Tuesday
Sims closed Tuesday's 115-92 loss to the Pelicans with seven points (3-3 FG, 1-3 FT), seven rebounds, three assists and two blocks in 30 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Sims moved into the starting lineup after Isaiah Hartenstein was ruled out as the Knicks continue to manage him through his recent Achilles injury. Outside of the seven rebounds and two blocks, Sims didn't offer much for managers. With Hartenstein likely to return against the Warriors on Thursday, Sims would once again fall off the fantasy radar.
Feb 27, 2024
Gets starting nod
Sims is in the starting five for Tuesday's game versus the Pelicans, Fred Katz of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Sims will replace Isaiah Hartenstein (Achilles) in the starting lineup Tuesday. Sims is averaging 4.0 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.0 blocks in 24.6 minutes across his last five starting appearances.
Feb 22, 2024
Not starting Thursday
Sims isn't starting Thursday's game against the 76ers.
ANALYSIS
Sims drew back-to-back starts for the Knicks heading into the All-Star break, but he'll retreat to the bench as the team resumes play Thursday. Over his last five appearances off the bench, he's averaged 2.6 points and 3.6 rebounds in 14.2 minutes per game.
Feb 13, 2024
Gets 29 minutes in return
Sims (illness) started at center and tallied four points (2-3 FG) and seven rebounds across 29 minutes in Monday's 105-103 loss to the Rockets.
ANALYSIS
The 29 minutes were a season high for Sims, who took on a big workload in his return from a three-game absence while usual starting center Isaiah Hartenstein (Achilles) missed a second straight game and while Precious Achiuwa logged most of his minutes at power forward in place of the injured Julius Randle (shoulder). Sims could draw another start Wednesday in Orlando if Hartenstein remains out, though Sims will likely see his minutes drop back into the teens -- if he doesn't fall out of the rotation entirely -- following the All-Star break, when Hartenstein should be ready to play with little or no restrictions.
Feb 12, 2024
Draws start Monday
Sims is in the starting lineup for Monday's game against Houston, Fred Katz of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Sims will make his eighth start of the season with Taj Gibson representing his primary backup off the bench Monday. Precious Achiuwa is also a candidate to log minutes at center with Isaiah Hartenstein (Achilles) sidelined for a second consecutive game.
Feb 12, 2024
Officially suiting up
Sims (illness) is available for Monday's game against the Rockets, Fred Katz of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Sims missed the last three games due to an illness, but he was probable ahead of Monday's game and has officially been cleared to return. Isaiah Hartenstein (Achilles) has been ruled out, so Sims could see increased run against Houston.
Feb 11, 2024
Likely to play Monday
Sims (illness) is probable for Monday's game against the Rockets.
ANALYSIS
Sims missed the last three games due to an illness, but he will likely return to the lineup Monday. Sims could be in line for extended minutes with Julius Randle (shoulder) out of the lineup, especially if Isaiah Hartenstein (Achilles, questionable) is unable to go.
Feb 10, 2024
Won't play Saturday
Sims (illness) will not play in Saturday's game against the Pacers, Fred Katz of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The Knicks will be very thin up front, so Taj Gibson will draw the start at center. Sims is day-to-day and should be considered questionable for Monday versus Houston.
Feb 9, 2024
Iffy for Saturday
Sims (illness) is listed as questionable for Saturday's game versus the Pacers.
ANALYSIS
Sims is in danger of missing his third straight contest Saturday due to a non-COVID illness. With Mitchell Robinson (ankle) and Isaiah Hartenstein (Achilles) out, Taj Gibson and Precious Achiuwa could receive increased playing time.
Feb 8, 2024
Ruled out for Thursday
Sims (illness) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against Dallas, Fred Katz of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Sims will be unavailable for a second consecutive game due to a non-COVID illness, and his absence leaves the Knicks particularly shorthanded following Thursday's trade deadline. Taj Gibson will likely continue to see increased playing time against the Mavericks.
Feb 7, 2024
Questionable for Thursday
Sims (illness) is listed as questionable for Thursday's game versus the Mavericks.
ANALYSIS
Sims is in danger of missing his second straight contest Thursday due to a non-COVID illness. If Sims is ruled out, Taj Gibson will likely continue to receive increased playing time behind Isaiah Hartenstein.
Feb 6, 2024
Out due to illness
Sims won't play in Tuesday's game against the Grizzlies due to an illness.
ANALYSIS
Sims is a late scratch, joining Julius Randle (shoulder), OG Anunoby (elbow) and Quentin Grimes (knee) on the sidelines. New York's depth will be tested once again, but Memphis also remains shorthanded.
Jan 27, 2024
Moves back to bench
Sims isn't in the starting five for Saturday's game versus the Heat.
ANALYSIS
Isaiah Hartenstein will replace Sims in the starting lineup Saturday. Sims is averaging o.4 points in 3.0 minutes across his last five appearances coming off the bench.
Jan 24, 2024
Career-high four blocks Tuesday
Sims registered six points (3-4 FG), four rebounds, two assists and four blocks in 27 minutes during Tuesday's 108-103 victory over Brooklyn.
ANALYSIS
With Isaiah Hartenstein (Achilles) sidelined, Sims made his first start since Dec. 18 and responded by setting a new career high in rejections while playing a season-high 27 minutes. The 2021 second-round pick has had trouble even cracking the Knicks' frontcourt rotation since Precious Achiuwa came over from Toronto in the OG Anunoby trade, but if Sims can start providing a consistent presence on defense, his workload should begin to increase again.
Jan 23, 2024
Officially starting against Nets
Sims is in the starting lineup in Tuesday's game versus Brooklyn.
ANALYSIS
Sims will replace Isaiah Hartenstein (Achilles) in the starting five Tuesday. Sims is averaging 3.6 points and 2.8 rebounds in 15.4 minutes across his last five starting appearances.
Jan 23, 2024
Expected to start Tuesday
Sims is expected to start Tuesday's contest against the Nets, Fred Katz of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Isaiah Hartenstein (Achilles) is listed as questionable but trending in the wrong direction, and if he's ruled out, Sims would move into the starting lineup. Sims made five straight starts from Dec. 11-18 after Mitchell Robinson (ankle) suffered a long-term injury, but the former saw over 20 minutes of playing time just once during that stretch. Previous Achiuwa would also likely see increased minutes off the bench if Hartenstein is ruled out.
Jan 10, 2024
Sees action in garbage time
Sims played the final 7:24 of Tuesday's 112-84 win over the Trail Blazers, finishing with one rebound, one steal and one turnover.
ANALYSIS
Sims was sidelined for about a week and a half in December due to a right ankle sprain, but he's been active for each of the team's last six games. After a brief run as the Knicks' starting center prior to suffering the ankle injury, Sims now finds himself out of the rotation entirely, as Isaiah Hartenstein has graduated to the top unit, while the newly acquired Precious Achiuwa has been serving as Hartenstein's primary backup. Sims has appeared in each of the last four games, though all of those contests have been blowouts in which he didn't leave the bench until the outcome was already decided.
Dec 30, 2023
Available for Saturday
Sims (ankle) is available for Saturday's game against the Pacers.
ANALYSIS
Sims has been sidelined since Dec. 18 with a right ankle sprain, but he'll return a couple days before his initial target date. Isaiah Hartenstein has played well as New York's starting center, so presumably, Sims will pick up the backup center minutes that Taj Gibson has been soaking up.
Dec 20, 2023
Out at least a week
Sims is expected to miss 1-2 weeks due to a right ankle sprain he suffered against the Lakers on Monday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Sims was initially deemed questionable for Wednesday's contest against Brooklyn but will now miss at least a week of action. With Mitchell Robinson (ankle) out for an extended period, Isaiah Hartenstein and Taj Gibson will likely be relied on to play extended minutes at center.
Dec 19, 2023
Questionable for Wednesday
Sims (ankle) is questionable to play Wednesday against Brooklyn.
ANALYSIS
Sims' questionable designation is good news in the context of suffering a sprained right ankle less than 24 hours ago. He appears to be day-to-day, but his status for Wednesday is firmly in doubt. Isaiah Hartenstein could be in line for a huge workload if Sims can't suit up.
Dec 18, 2023
Exits with ankle sprain
Sims has been ruled out for the remainder of Monday's game against the Lakers due to a right ankle sprain.
ANALYSIS
Sims went down in the first half with the injury, and the team quickly announced that he'd been shut down for the rest fo the night. Look for Isaiah Hartenstein and Taj Gibson to get looks at center in Sims' absence.
Dec 11, 2023
Grabs seven boards in start
Sims produced two points (1-2 FG), seven rebounds and one assist in 21 minutes during Monday's 136-130 win over the Raptors.
ANALYSIS
Sims moved into the starting lineup, replacing Mitchell Robinson (ankle) who looks set to miss at least two months of action. Despite starting, Sims was outplayed by Isaiah Hartenstein. It does feel as though the Knicks are going to continue with Sims as the starter, making him someone to consider in deeper formats.
Dec 11, 2023
Gets starting nod Monday
Sims is in the starting lineup for Monday's game against Toronto, Blake Murphy of Sportsnet.ca reports.
ANALYSIS
Sims will make his first start of the season after logging just 25 total minutes across nine appearances thus far. Monday marks the beginning of Mitchell Robinson's 8-to-10 week absence due to ankle surgery, while Isaiah Hartenstein is active but will remain with the second unit. Sims' athleticism and rim-running style would constitute a new twist to the Knicks' offense, but it's unclear if he can provide sustainable two-way play in a larger role.
Nov 23, 2023
Recalled to Knicks
Sims was called up from the G League to the NBA on Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Sims has been getting spot run with the Knicks, but he's unlikely to play a meaningful role unless Mitchell Robinson or Isaiah Hartenstein suffer an injury.
Oct 18, 2023
Top rebounder in starting lineup
Sims tallied two points (1-2 FG), 10 rebounds, three assists, three blocks and one steal over 32 minutes in Tuesday's 123-110 preseason loss to Boston.
ANALYSIS
Sims got the starting nod due to other Knicks players resting in Tuesday's preseason contest, finishing as the only player in the contest to reach double figures in rebounds in the loss. Sims set a preseason-high in rebounds Tuesday, now averaging 1.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.3 blocks over three preseason contests.
Oct 17, 2023
Gets starting nod
Sims is in the starting five for Tuesday's preseason game against the Celtics, Stefan Brondy of The New York Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Sims will replace Julius Randle (rest) in the starting lineup Tuesday. Sims averaged 3.4 points and 4.7 rebounds in 15.6 minutes across his 52 appearances for the Knicks last season.

Fully recovered
Sims has no injury designation to start training camp, Ian Begley of SportsNet New York reports.
ANALYSIS
Sims underwent right shoulder surgery in late April, but he's healthy in time for a pivotal Knicks training camp. The 24-year-old is a surprise candidate to absorb some of Obi Toppin's vacated minutes at power forward for the Knicks this season.
Apr 27, 2023
Out for remainder of playoffs
Sims underwent season-ending surgery on his right shoulder Wednesday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Sims had already missed the last three games due to right shoulder soreness, so his absence won't affect the Knicks' playoff rotation. The procedure will require five months of recovery on rehabilitation. Sims averaged 3.4 points and 4.7 rebounds in 15.6 minutes across 52 appearances, including 16 starts, in 2022-23.
Apr 25, 2023
Remains out for Game 5
Sims (shoulder) has been ruled out for Wednesday's Game 5 against the Cavaliers.
ANALYSIS
Sims will miss a third straight game due to right shoulder soreness. He wasn't part of the Knicks' postseason rotation while healthy, so his prolonged absence shouldn't have an impact.
Apr 22, 2023
Remains out for Game 4
Sims (shoulder) won't play in Game 4 versus the Cavaliers on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Sims will miss his second straight game with right shoulder soreness. His next chance to suit up is Game 5 on Wednesday.
Apr 21, 2023
Won't play Friday
Sims has been ruled out for Friday's Game 3 against the Cavaliers due to a sore right shoulder.
ANALYSIS
Sims hasn't played in either of the first two games of the series, so his absence shouldn't impact the Knicks' postseason rotation.
Mar 16, 2023
Called up to parent club
Sims was recalled by the NBA Knicks on Thursday after a brief G League stint.
ANALYSIS
Sims was assigned to the Westchester Knicks earlier Thursday and will return to the NBA following Westchester's game against Fort Wayne. The center has not appeared in an NBA game since March 3 and shouldn't factor into the team's rotation.
Mar 16, 2023
Sent to G League
The Knicks assigned Sims to the Westchester Knicks of the G League on Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Sims hasn't played in the NBA since Mar. 3, after starting in 14 games earlier in the season. However, he should see increased opportunities in the G League.
Feb 24, 2023
Not starting Friday
Sim isn't starting Friday's game against the Wizards.
ANALYSIS
With Mitchell Robinson (thumb) back in the mix, Sims will retreat to a bench role after starting 14 straight games. Across 30 games as a reserve, Sims has averaged 3.5 points, 4.3 rebounds and 0.6 blocks in 12.3 minutes.
Feb 8, 2023
Minutes climb back up Tuesday
Sims collected eight points (4-5 FG, 0-1 3Pt), nine rebounds, two steals and one assist in 35 minutes in Tuesday's 102-98 win over the Magic.
ANALYSIS
Sims' playing time had been trending down even while he's maintained a spot in the starting five in place of the injured Mitchell Robinson (thumb), but the second-year big man out of Texas saw a big uptick in minutes Tuesday after playing no more than 27 in any of his previous five outings. The elevated run was a byproduct of backup center Isaiah Hartenstein accruing five fouls in just 13 minutes of court time, so Sims could easily see his minutes dip dramatically Friday in Philadelphia. Before running into foul trouble Tuesday, Hartenstein had handily outproduced Sims while playing more minutes in each of the previous four contests, despite continuing to come off the bench.
Feb 4, 2023
Zero impact despite start
Sims produced one rebound, two assists, one block and one steal in 21 minutes during Saturday's 134-128 overtime loss to the Clippers.
ANALYSIS
Sims remained in the starting lineup but was once again benched down the stretch. Despite his aforementioned role, Sims has been outplayed by Isaiah Hartenstein of late. He has failed to score in three straight games, adding basically nothing in terms of supporting stats. Hartenstein is clearly the preferred option right now, with Sims a non-factor, even in deeper formats.
Jan 29, 2023
Double-digit boards in loss
Sims finished with six points (3-3 FG), 10 rebounds, one block and one steal in 27 minutes during Saturday's 122-115 loss to the Nets.
ANALYSIS
Sims remained in the starting lineup Saturday, walking away with a modest fantasy line, including 10 rebounds. Despite being handed the starting position with Mitchell Robinson (thumb) out, Sims doesn't offer a lot in terms of overall value. He should be viewed as a streaming option across all standard leagues, at least until he can demonstrate a more well-rounded skillset.
Jan 23, 2023
Stays hot from field
Sims finished with 10 points (5-5 FG), seven rebounds, three assists and one block across 33 minutes during Sunday's 125-116 loss to the Raptors.
ANALYSIS
Sims was perfect from the field for a second straight game, as he's now 11-for-11 in his last two matchups. He also made an impact on the boards by collecting five of seven rebounds on the defensive end. Sims should continue to see his name in the starting lineup until Mitchell Robinson (thumb) returns from injury.
Jan 21, 2023
Perfect from the field in start
Sims finished with 12 points (6-6 FG), eight rebounds and two steals over 28 minutes during Friday's 139-124 loss to the Hawks.
ANALYSIS
Sims got the starting nod in place of injured Mitchell Robinson (thumb) and did an excellent job while on the court. He came close to a double-double in 28 minutes of playing time and nailed every one of his shot attempts while also adding a couple of steals. While it's a small sample size and while he didn't play 30-plus minutes yet, the 24-year-old center is someone to keep an eye on to see if he continues starting and playing with similar efficiency in Robinson's absence.
Jan 20, 2023
Earns starting nod
Sims will enter the starting five for Friday's game against the Hawks.
ANALYSIS
Sims will get the first crack at the starting center job with Mitchell Robinson out at least three weeks with a broken thumb. However, the Knicks will likely run more of a rotation at the five with Isaiah Hartenstein and Obi Toppin also vying for center minutes. Sims is a solid streaming option considering his strong per-36 output of 10.1 points, 12.1 rebounds and 1.8 blocks.
Dec 5, 2022
Recalled Monday
Sims was recalled by the Knicks on Monday.
ANALYSIS
After a brief one-game stint with the Westchester Knicks, Sims has been called back up by the team's parent club. The Texas product has averaged 4.5 points and 4.8 rebounds across 13.6 minutes per game throughout his first 16 appearances in the NBA this season.
Dec 2, 2022
Efficient in G League stint
Sims posted 20 points (8-9 FG, 2-2 FT), seven rebounds, three blocks and one assist in 23 minutes during Thursday's 141-100 win over the Skyhawks.
ANALYSIS
Sims had all three of Westchester's blocks in their blowout win Thursday. With Sims already being recalled to the NBA, his short stint was likely done to receive extra reps while having a minimal role in the Knicks' rotation.
Dec 1, 2022
Called up to NBA
Sims will return to the NBA following a one-game stint with the Westchester Knicks.
ANALYSIS
Sims has been a fringe rotation player for a majority of the 2022-23 season with the NBA Knicks but has infrequently stepped down to the G League just to get more in-game action. In 15 NBA games, Sims has averaged 4.7 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.0 blocks in 13.9 minutes per game
Dec 1, 2022
Assigned to G League
The Knicks assigned Sims to the Westchester Knicks of the G League on Thursday, Fred Katz of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Sims was assigned to the G League alongside Miles McBride on Thursday. Sims is averaging 4.7 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.0 blocks in 13.9 minutes across 15 games in the NBA this season, including two starts. Sims will likely be recalled for Saturday's game against Dallas.
Nov 29, 2022
Perfect from field
Sims finished with six points (3-3 FG), six rebounds and one assist across six minutes during Tuesday's 140-110 victory over the Pistons.
ANALYSIS
Sims failed to see any action in New York's last contest Sunday against the Grizzlies, but he made the most of his chances in Tuesday's win. He's shot well down low when given the chance so far this season, knocking down 75.6 percent of his attempts while collecting 4.9 rebounds over 15 games. The problem for Sims is that he's stuck behind both Mitchell Robinson and Isaiah Hartenstein on the depth chart.
Nov 19, 2022
Notches second double-double
Sims supplied 10 points (4-7 FG, 2-2 FT), 10 rebounds and three blocks across 27 minutes in Friday's 111-101 loss to the Warriors.
ANALYSIS
Sims finished with a double-double for the second time in three games and is now averaging 6.6 points, 7.3 rebounds, 1.4 blocks, 0.7 steals and 0.7 assists in 21.1 minute per game while shooting 77.8 percent from the field since entering head coach Tom Thibodeau's rotation over the past seven contests. The impending return of Mitchell Robinson (knee) will eventually muddy the picture at center, so Sims may only be worth a short-term hold for fantasy managers who have been streaming him for big-man stats. Looking ahead, it's unclear if Thibodeau intends to keep Sims as part of a three-man rotation at center that includes Robinson and Isaiah Hartenstein, or if one of Sims and Hartenstein will lose out on a regular spot.
Nov 16, 2022
Records double-double
Sims ended Tuesday's 118-111 victory over Utah with 11 points (5-7 FG, 1-1 FT), 13 rebounds, two assists and one steal in 25 minutes.
ANALYSIS
The former Texas product got things done off the bench in Tuesday's win, enjoying his best game of the season. With Mitchell Robinson (knee) out, Sims will continue to see more time.
Nov 13, 2022
Continues perfect shooting Sunday
Sims registered eight points (4-4 FG), eight rebounds and one assist in 25 minutes during Sunday's 145-135 loss to the Thunder.
ANALYSIS
Sims made all four shots he attempted and has now made all 11 of his tries on the year. He set season-highs in points and rebounds Sunday. The 24-year-old is averaging 2.9 points and 3.0 rebounds in 11.0 minutes across eight appearances.
Nov 11, 2022
Not starting Friday
Sims will not start Friday's game versus the Pistons.
ANALYSIS
Sims was initially tabbed as the starter at the five for Friday's contest, but it appears head coach Tom Thibodeau changed his mind. Instead, Isaiah Hartenstein will get a look with the starting five.
Nov 8, 2022
Offers little in spot start Monday
Sims registered four points (2-2 FG), four rebounds and one block over 17 minutes during Monday's 120-107 victory over the Timberwolves.
ANALYSIS
Sims shifted into the starting lineup at the expense of Isaiah Hartenstein, but failed to produce anything of note. This was an intriguing move by the coaching staff, something that may have simply been a tactical decision. To be clear, Sims is not a player to target outside of the deepest formats.
Nov 7, 2022
Running with first unit
Sims is in the starting lineup for Monday's game against Minnesota.
ANALYSIS
Sims will draw his first start of the 2022-23 campaign after seeing limited playing time so far this season. He's logged just 11 total minutes, two points and two rebounds over three games.
Oct 6, 2022
Questionable to return Friday
Sims (groin) is questionable to play in Friday's preseason game versus the Pacers, Ian Begley of SportsNet New York reports.
ANALYSIS
Simms will miss two consecutive preseason games with a groin injury he has been dealing with since the beginning of training camp. Without receiving much action in the preseason, it will be hard for the second-year center to crack the Knicks' rotation once the regular season rolls around. Sims' next chance to play will be next Wednesday against Indiana.
Oct 4, 2022
Ruled out Tuesday
Sims (groin) will miss Tuesday's pre-season matchup with the Pistons, Ian Begley of SportsNet New York reports.
ANALYSIS
Sims has been dealing with injury since the beginning of training camp, but it appears that his groin is a lingering issue. It is unclear how much time he will miss, but his next chance will be on Friday versus Indiana.
Oct 3, 2022
Questionable for Tuesday's contest
Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau said Monday that Sims (groin) is questionable for Tuesday's exhibition game against the Pistons, Fred Katz of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Sims had been dealing with general aches and pains to start training camp, but he's now being listed with a groin injury. The Knicks will likely play it safe with the reserve big man during the preseason, but it's unclear if the issue will impact his availability for the regular season.
Oct 1, 2022
Misses practice
Sims missed Saturday's practice due to general aches and pains, Fred Katz of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
It does not sound like Sims is dealing with anything serious, just the usual soreness from training camp ramping up. Barring any setbacks, he should presumably be ready for the team' season opener. He is not expected to be in the rotation once the season kicks off, but will be available off the bench for frontcourt depth if needed.
Oct 1, 2022
Misses practice
Sims missed Saturday's practice due to general aches and pains, Fred Katz of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
It does not sound like Sims is dealing with anything serious, just the usual soreness from training camp ramping up. Barring any setbacks, he should presumably be ready for the team's season opener. He is not expected to factor heavily in the rotation once the season kicks off but will be available off the bench for frontcourt depth if needed.
Jul 7, 2022
Back with Knicks on three-year deal
Sims and the Knicks agreed Thursday to a three-year contract, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Sims was drafted 58th overall by the Knicks last season and saw meaningful action as New York dealt with frontcourt injuries. He appeared in 41 games (five starts) and averaged 2.2 points and 4.1 rebounds in 13.5 minutes. Per 36 minutes, he averaged 5.8 points, 11.0 rebounds (4.0 offensive), 1.4 blocks and 1.4 assists. Sims will be competing for backup center minutes with Isaiah Hartenstein.
Apr 11, 2022
Pulls down 14 rebounds
Sims registered six points (3-4 FG), 14 rebounds, one assist and two steals in 39 minutes during Sunday's 105-94 victory over the Raptors.
ANALYSIS
Sims didn't register impressive scoring figures but was a dominant force on the glass, and in fact, the 14 rebounds represented a season-high mark for him. He pulled down at least nine rebounds in each of the final three games of the regular season, starting each one of them. He ended the season with averages of just 2.2 points and 4.1 rebounds per game, though, as he only saw an expanded role down the stretch when the Knicks were out of the playoff race.
Apr 7, 2022
Gritty performance despite loss
Sims finished Wednesday's 110-98 loss to the Nets with 10 points (4-6 FG, 2-6 FT), 13 rebounds, two assists, three blocks and one steal in 35 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Sims notched the first double-double of his career Wednesday, Despite being listed as a power-forward, Sims operates as an undersized center at 6-foot-9, but his 250-pound frame makes him an imposing force inside. Per-36 minutes, Sims is averaging 10.9 rebounds and 5.8 points on 76.1 percent shooting from the field.
Apr 6, 2022
Will start for Robinson
Sims will start Wednesday's game against the Nets, Fred Katz of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
With Mitchell Robinson (illness) ruled out, Sims will move into the lineup at center for his first start since March 25. The rookie out of Texas has averaged 3.1 points and 5.3 rebounds over his last 12 appearances (19.0 MPG).
Mar 27, 2022
Back to bench
Sims will come off the bench during Sunday's contest against the Pistons.
ANALYSIS
With Mitchell Robinson (back) back in the starting lineup, Sims will operate off the bench. Before drawing back-to-back starts, the rookie had averaged just 2.6 points and 6.0 rebounds in 19.2 minutes per game over his previous five games.
Mar 26, 2022
Solid yet unspectacular Friday
Sims had six points (3-3 FG), seven rebounds, two assists and one block over 28 minutes during Friday's 111-103 victory over Miami.
ANALYSIS
Sims remained in the starting lineup despite the return of Mitchell Robinson, ending the night with a serviceable fantasy line. It is unclear if this move is going to stick moving forward or if it was simply a way of easing Robinson back into things. If he does hold down the starting role, Sims could be someone to grab in deeper formats.
Mar 23, 2022
Getting first career start
Sims will start Wednesday's matchup against the Hornets, Ian Begley of SportsNet New York reports.
ANALYSIS
Sims will get the first start of his career with Nerlens Noel (foot) and Mitchell Robinson (back) sidelined. He's been a consistent part of the rotation since late February. In the six games that he's seen at least 20 minutes, Sims has averaged 4.5 points and 7.7 rebounds.
Mar 14, 2022
Generates team-high rebound total
Sims ended Sunday's 110-107 loss to the Nets with six points (3-3 FG), 10 rebounds, two assists and one block over 23 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Although Sims scored only six points, he was a rebound magnet during his season-high 23 minutes on the floor. The 2021 second-round draft pick usually has minimal impact, but we could see more of Sims as the team's playoff hopes dwindle.
Feb 28, 2022
Steps in as backup center
Sims recorded zero points (0-1 FG), 10 rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block across 18 minutes in Sunday's 125-109 loss to the 76ers.
ANALYSIS
Prior to the All-Star break, the two-way rookie out of Texas had appeared in only two of the Knicks' last eight games, but he was a surprise inclusion in head coach Tom Thibodeau's rotation for both of the first two contests of the second half. On Sunday, Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News reported that Nerlens Noel is dealing with plantar fasciitis in his left foot that had left him available only in emergency for the past two contests, so Sims could end up losing hold of his role as Mitchell Robinson's top backup once Noel is healthy. Though Sims brought some energy off the bench Sunday, neither he nor Robinson had any answer for Joel Embiid, who made 27 trips to the free-throw line while both Knicks centers fouled out despite playing fewer than 20 minutes apiece.
Jan 4, 2022
Good to go Tuesday
Sims (COVID-19 protocols) is available for Tuesday's game against the Pacers.
ANALYSIS
Sims was considered questionable due to conditioning concerns after clearing the health and safety protocols, but he's ready to go after sitting out five games. Most of New York's frontcourt is available, so he's unlikely to have a significant role going forward.
Jan 3, 2022
Clears COVID-19 protocols
Sims cleared the NBA's health and safety protocols Monday, Fred Katz of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Sims landed in COVID-19 protocols Christmas Day and has been sidelined since. It's unclear if he will be available for Tuesday's contest against the Pacers. However, he's only played double-digits minutes three times this season, so his potential availability shouldn't impact the Tom Thibodeau's rotations.
Dec 25, 2021
Out Christmas Day
Sims is in the NBA's health and safety protocols and will not play in Saturday's Christmas Day matchup with the Hawks.
ANALYSIS
Sims's absence means Mitchell robinson, Taj Gibson, Julius Randle and Obi Toppin will be the only frontcourt players available for the Knicks, as Nerlens Noel (COVID-19 protocols) is also out.
Dec 24, 2021
Plays 22 minutes off bench
Sims ended Thursday's 124-117 loss to Washington with six points (3-3 FG) and six rebounds across 22 minutes.
ANALYSIS
The rookie's stat line was nothing remarkable, but it's notable that he served as the No. 2 center behind Mitchell Robinson -- who fouled out in 25 minutes -- with Nerlens Noel in COVID-19 protocols. Meanwhile, Taj Gibson saw only seven minutes of action off the bench, finishing with two points and three rebounds. Sims hasn't shown nearly enough to warrant attention in most fantasy leagues, but he's had some explosive performances in the G League, so he's a player to monitor for dynasty formats.
Dec 4, 2021
Won't play Saturday
Sims (illness) is out Saturday against the Nuggets.
ANALYSIS
Sims will miss a second consecutive game due to a non-COVID illness. His absence shouldn't impact the Knicks' rotation.
Dec 4, 2021
Labeled as game-time call
Sims (illness) is considered a game-time decision for Saturday's matchup against the Nuggets, Steve Popper of Newsday reports.
ANALYSIS
Sims missed Thursday's loss to the Bulls due to a non-COVID illness, and coach Tom Thibodeau isn't yet sure whether the 23-year-old will be able to play Saturday. If he's held out once again, Taj Gibson could see an uptick in playing time.
Dec 3, 2021
Listed as questionable
Sims (illness) is questionable for Saturday's contest against the Nuggets.
ANALYSIS
Sims was sidelined for the Knicks' 119-115 loss to the Bulls on Thursday due to a non-COVID illness. Barring injuries, the backup big man hasn't been a part of New York's rotations this season, so his status shouldn't impact fantasy managers' decision making.
Dec 2, 2021
Won't play Thursday
Sims (illness) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Bulls.
ANALYSIS
Sims is dealing with a non-COVID illness and will be unable to suit up Thursday. Taj Gibson could see a slight uptick in usage.
Dec 2, 2021
Questionable Thursday
Sims is questionable for Thursday's game against the Bulls due to a non-COVID illness.
ANALYSIS
Sims didn't appear in Tuesday's loss to the Nets, and his status for Thursday's matchup is in jeopardy due to an illness. If he's held out, Taj Gibson could see a slight uptick in playing time.
Oct 10, 2021
Logs 13 rebounds across 26 minutes
Sims recorded seven points (3-6 FG, 1-2 FT), 13 rebounds, three steals, one assist and one block across 26 minutes during a 117-99 preseason win Saturday against the Wizards.
ANALYSIS
Sims' most recent stat line is a promising indication of what he could provide professionally. Though there are better options, they do not eliminate his chances to play during the upcoming NBA season. The Knicks have multiple injury-prone big men (such as their primary center Mitchell Robinson) and could benefit from having a serviceable rebounder like Sims.
Aug 8, 2021
Filling two-way spot
The Knicks signed Sims to a two-way contract Sunday.
ANALYSIS
The No. 58 overall pick in this year's draft will fill one of the Knicks' two two-way spots in 2021-22, allowing him to freely move between the NBA team and New York's G League affiliate in Westchester throughout the season. With all of Mitchell Robinson, Nerlens Noel and Taj Gibson ahead of him on the depth chart at center, Sims likely won't have many opportunities to play meaningful minutes for the Knicks as a rookie.
