Tidjane Salaün Injury News & Updates
Keep up with the latest injuries from the Bulls vs Hornets game on Friday with our National Basketball Association injury report.Dec 5, 2025
Drops career-high 21 points
Salaun totaled 21 points (6-8 FG, 5-6 3Pt, 4-4 FT), three rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal across 22 minutes during Friday's 111-86 win over the Raptors.
ANALYSIS
Salaun made the most of a fortunate situation, scoring a career-high 21 points in just 22 minutes. He has now scored double digits in three straight games, putting himself on the radar in deeper formats. The sample size of him being below average is far greater than the recent three-game streak, meaning those in standard leagues may want to pause before running to add him.
Dec 4, 2025
Scores season-high 13 points
Salaun racked up 13 points (5-8 FG, 3-5 3Pt), four rebounds and one steal across 23 minutes during Wednesday's 119-104 loss to New York.
ANALYSIS
Salaun could be in line for a bigger role in the short term as rookie Ryan Kalkbrenner (ankle) may miss time after leaving Wednesday's game early. Moussa Diabate would slide to the starting lineup if that were to happen, but Salaun would likely inherit most of the backup minutes if not all since Mason Plumlee has logged DNPs in five straight games.
Nov 30, 2025
Recalled to parent squad
The Hornets have recalled Salaun from the team's G League affiliate Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Salaun has not appeared for the Hornets since Nov. 2, but he returns to the squad after an impressive stint with the team's G League affiliate. In nine games with the Swarm, Salaun averaged 16.2 points, 8.1 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 31.8 minutes per contest. Although Pat Connaughton (calf) remains out of the lineup, Salaun will still compete with rookies Sion James and Liam McNeeley for reserve minutes.
Nov 3, 2025
Assigned to G League
The Hornets assigned Salaun to the G League's Greensboro Swarm on Monday.
ANALYSIS
Salaun has seen a very limited role in Charlotte to open the season with 11.9 minutes per contest across seven appearances. He's likely to be a featured player during his time with the Swarm.
Oct 31, 2025
Team option picked up
The Hornets exercised Salaun's third-year team option for 2026-27 on Friday, Roderick Boone of The Charlotte Observer reports.
ANALYSIS
The Hornets spent a first-round pick on Salaun last year, so this isn't a surprise. With Grant Williams (knee) sidelined, Salaun has averaged 15.5 minutes per game over his first four outings this season.
Oct 27, 2025
Fills stat sheet in win
Salaun ended Sunday's 139-113 win over Washington with four points (1-1 FG, 1-1 3 Pt, 1-2 FT), seven rebounds, two steals, an assists and a block across 16 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Salaun is taking advantage of his extended playing time while Grant Williams (knee) is out, and Sunday marked his first all-around performance of the season. If the second-year forward continues to post statlines like these, it may be hard for head coach Charles Lee to take him out of the rotation once Williams returns.
Oct 18, 2025
Flirts with double-double in loss
Salaun posted nine points (4-9 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 0-2 FT), 10 rebounds and three assists in Friday's 113-108 loss to the Knicks.
ANALYSIS
Salaun led all reserves in points, rebounds and minutes played (29), which is very encouraging for the young forward as he clamors for a spot in the regular season rotation. If Grant Williams (knee) can not play in the team's first game, expect Salaun to take his place amongst the second unit.
Oct 10, 2025
Grabs 10 boards
Salaun logged six points (2-11 FG, 0-6 3Pt, 2-3 FT), 10 rebounds, two blocks and one steal in 29 minutes of Thursday's 122-116 preseason loss to the Thunder.
ANALYSIS
Hornets head coach Charles Lee has praised Salaun's development in training camp, and he rewarded him with a sizable workload Thursday. Salaun is still pretty erratic on offense, but his energy on the defensive side of things is a big plus to the team. Salaun is in the mix to win the backup power forward role behind Miles Bridges with Grant Williams (knee) sidelined.
Sep 30, 2025
Working on efficiency
Salaun (Achilles) says the offense has slowed down for him while he has been working on improving his efficiency during the offseason, according to Sam Perley of the Hornets' official site.
ANALYSIS
Salaun was dealing with Achilles soreness during the Las Vegas Summer League, but now appears to be fully recovered. The 19-year-old forward played in 60 regular-season games during his rookie campaign, averaging 5.9 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game, shooting 33 percent from the field and 28.3 percent from beyond the arc.
Jul 19, 2025
Inactive Saturday
Salaun (Achilles) did not appear in Saturday's 109-80 Summer League win over the Thunder.
ANALYSIS
Salaun logged minutes earlier in Summer League but hasn't played since Monday's game against the Mavericks while managing right Achilles soreness. He wrapped up the 2024-25 season with averages of 5.9 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.2 assists while shooting 33.0 percent from the field and 28.3 percent from three across 60 games (10 starts).
Jul 17, 2025
Won't play vs. San Antonio
Salaun (Achilles) has been ruled out for Thursday's Summer League game against the Spurs.
ANALYSIS
Salaun is dealing with right Achilles soreness, which will keep him sidelined. The French import played 18 minutes as a starter during Monday's game against the Mavericks, finishing with six points and four rebounds. It remains to be seen whether he'll make another appearance in the Las Vegas Summer League.
Apr 14, 2025
Shooting woes in defeat
Salaun closed Sunday's 93-86 loss to Boston with five points (1-11 FG, 1-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds and two assists in 36 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Salaun had some notable performances during his rookie season in Charlotte, but he didn't finish the 2024-25 campaign on a strong note, hitting one of 11 shots attempted Sunday against the Celtics. The French import finished the year averaging 5.9 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game, shooting 33 percent from the floor and 28.3 percent from beyond the arc.
Apr 13, 2025
Starting Sunday
Salaun will be in the starting lineup for the Hornets on Sunday against the Celtics.
ANALYSIS
Salaun will get the start for Charlotte for the 10th time this season. The 19-year-old forward is averaging 6.6 points and 5.9 rebounds per game, shooting 32.8 percent from the floor and 23.8 percent from deep as a starter.
Apr 11, 2025
Back to bench Friday
Salaun won't start Friday's game against the Celtics.
ANALYSIS
Salaun started Wednesday in place of Miles Bridges (hip) and posted nine points and six rebounds in 31 minutes against the Raptors. However, even with Bridges still sidelined, he'll come off the bench Friday, as the Hornets will start KJ Simpson, Nick Smith, DaQuan Jeffries, Josh Okogie and Mark Williams.
Apr 9, 2025
Will start Wednesday
Salaun will be in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Raptors, Blake Murphy of Sportsnet.ca reports.
ANALYSIS
Salaun will be a starter for the ninth time this season. The rookie forward has averaged 6.3 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.0 steals per game in the first unit this season.
Apr 8, 2025
Nears double-double in defeat
Salaun recorded 13 points (3-7 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 4-8 FT), nine rebounds and three assists across 29 minutes during Tuesday's 124-100 loss to the Grizzlies.
ANALYSIS
Salaun led the Hornets in rebounds Tuesday, coming one board shy of his third double-double on the season. Moreover, the rookie was one of four Hornets to score in double figures against Memphis, finishing as the club's second-leading scorer behind Miles Bridges (14 points). Salaun will likely continue to receive significant minutes for the non-contending Hornets with only three regular-season games remaining.
Apr 1, 2025
Fares well in 25 minutes
Salaun supplied 12 points (4-5 FG, 3-3 3Pt, 1-2 FT), four rebounds, two assists and two blocks over 25 minutes during Monday's 110-106 win over the Jazz.
ANALYSIS
The rookie forward continues to trend in the right direction for the shorthanded Hornets. Over his last five games, Salaun has emerged on the deep-league fantasy radar, averaging 8.6 points, 7.4 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 0.6 steals and 1.0 three-pointers in 25.7 minutes.
Mar 30, 2025
Available Sunday
Salaun (ankle) is available for Sunday's game against New Orleans.
ANALYSIS
Salaun will shake off a questionable tag due to the right ankle injury and suit up in his fourth consecutive contest Sunday. The rookie first-round pick has made eight appearances this month, averaging 7.4 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists across 19.8 minutes per contest.
Mar 29, 2025
Questionable for Sunday
Salaun is questionable for Sunday's game against New Orleans with a right ankle issue.
ANALYSIS
The Hornets will be extremely shorthanded Sunday, so if Salaun is able to shake off this questionable tag, he could see a sizable workload. Over his last three appearances, Salaun averaged 9.0 points, 8.7 rebounds, 0.7 assists and 0.7 three-pointers.
Mar 24, 2025
Enters rotation Sunday
Salaun (ankle) registered seven points (3-4 FG, 1-2 3Pt), five rebounds, one assist and one steal across 25 minutes in Sunday's 122-105 loss to the Heat.
ANALYSIS
Salaun made his first appearance for the Hornets since March 8 and his first at any level since March 14, as he had been playing for the G League's Greensboro Swarm before briefly missing time due to a right ankle sprain. The rookie first-round pick had previously been assigned to the G League after falling out of the rotation earlier this month, but the Hornets opened up a spot on the second unit for Salaun on Sunday while Josh Green (shoulder) and Josh Okogie (hamstring) sat out and while two-way player Wendell Moore was inactive as he approaches his limit of active games at the NBA level. Moore can make just four more appearances for the Hornets this season, but Salaun may need both Green and Okogie to continue to miss games in order to take hold of a permanent rotation spot.
Mar 23, 2025
Good to go vs. Miami
Salaun (ankle) is available for Sunday's game against Miami.
ANALYSIS
Salaun will return to game action after having been on the shelf since March 10 due to the sprained right ankle. The rookie first-round pick could see a bump in minutes during his return due to Josh Green (shoulder) being sidelined. Over his last five outings, Salaun has averaged 6.4 points and 4.0 rebounds while shooting 47.6 percent from the field across 16.6 minutes per contest.
Mar 22, 2025
Likely to play against Miami
Salaun (ankle) is listed as probable for Sunday's game versus the Heat.
ANALYSIS
Salaun hasn't played for the Hornets since March 8 due to a right ankle sprain but is expected to return to action Sunday. If the rookie is upgraded to available, he will likely operate as one of Charlotte's primary bench options in the forward rotation.
Mar 21, 2025
Won't play Friday
Salaun (ankle) has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Thunder.
ANALYSIS
Salaun made his last appearance in the G League on March 15 due to the sprained right ankle. However, the rookie first-round pick hasn't played at the NBA level since March 8, so his absence shouldn't cause any major waves in the rotation.
Mar 19, 2025
Listed out for Thursday
The Hornets recalled Salaun (ankle) from the G League's Greensboro Swarm on Wednesday, but he's listed as out for Charlotte's game against the Knicks on Thursday.
ANALYSIS
The rookie first-rounder continues to deal with a sprained right ankle, but his move back to the parent club suggests he may not be far off from returning. Salaun can be deemed day-to-day ahead of Friday's tilt against the Thunder. Wendell Moore should continue serving as a regular member of Charlotte's rotation until Salaun is healthy.
Mar 3, 2025
Perfect from field in double digits
Salaun recorded 10 points (3-3 FG, 3-3 3Pt, 1-3 FT) and two rebounds over 15 minutes in Monday's 119-101 loss to Golden State.
ANALYSIS
Salaun shot the ball well off the Charlotte bench in Monday's outing, shooting a perfect mark from the field and from deep while leading all Hornets bench players in scoring in a double-digit showing. Salaun reached double figures for the seventh time this season, connecting on three or more threes for the fourth time.
Mar 1, 2025
Set to play against Washington
Salaun (ankle) is available for Saturday's game versus the Wizards.
ANALYSIS
Salaun has been upgraded from questionable to available Saturday after missing Charlotte's previous two contests. With Seth Curry (back) out, Salaun should operate as one of the Hornets' top options off the bench.
Feb 28, 2025
Questionable to play Saturday
Salaun (ankle) is listed as questionable for Saturday's game against the Wizards.
ANALYSIS
Salaun has missed two straight games due to a right ankle sprain, and he's in jeopardy of missing a third Saturday. He averaged 6.8 points and 4.8 rebounds across 22.8 minutes per game across his nine outings prior to his most recent injury. Luckily for the Hornets, DaQuan Jeffries returned Thursday from a four-game absence due to a knee sprain, and he and Moussa Diabate will serve rotation behind Mark Williams at the center position if Salaun is not cleared to play.
Feb 26, 2025
Out with ankle sprain
Salaun (ankle) is out for Thursday's game against the Mavericks.
ANALYSIS
A right ankle sprain will cost Salaun a second straight game Thursday. The rookie first-rounder's next chance to suit up for the Hornets arrives Saturday against the Wizards. Jusuf Nurkic did not see the court in Tuesday's loss to the Warriors, and DaQuan Jeffries (knee) remains iffy to play, therefore Moussa Diabate appears to have a clear path to backup center duties in Charlotte's rotation.
Feb 25, 2025
Out with ankle sprain
Salaun will not play Tuesday against the Warriors due to a right ankle sprain.
ANALYSIS
This appears to be a new injury for Salaun, and he'll be joining a crowded injury report. With Salaun unavailable, there could be more minutes available for guys like Josh Green, Wendell Moore and Seth Curry.
Feb 11, 2025
Solid all-around performance
Salaun racked up 16 points (4-10 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 6-9 FT), five rebounds, one block and two steals over 27 minutes during Monday's 97-89 loss to the Nets.
ANALYSIS
Salaun logged 27 minutes in Monday's loss to the Nets and was one of only three players for Charlotte to score in double figures. The rookie big man finished with 16 points, well over his average in that department of 5.3 points per game and one point off his career-high total of 17. The French import may continue to see more time on the floor if he can keep up this kind of production off the bench for the Hornets.
Feb 6, 2025
Logs 22 minutes in return
Salaun (illness) tallied 10 points (3-8 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 3-4 FT), four rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block across 22 minutes Wednesday in the Hornets' 112-102 loss to the Bucks.
ANALYSIS
Salaun hadn't played with the G League's Greensboro Swarm or the Hornets for the past week due to an illness, but he made a timely return to action Wednesday for a Charlotte squad that was without seven players due to injury. Though the rookie first-round pick showed well during his time on the court, he'll be a prime candidate to see his minutes get cut once the Hornets get healthier and are able to incorporate trade-deadline pickup Dalton Knecht into the rotation.
Feb 4, 2025
Good to go Wednesday
Salaun (illness) isn't on the injury report for Wednesday's game versus the Bucks.
ANALYSIS
Salaun will return to action Wednesday after missing time due to an illness. The rookie forward is averaging 4.0 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 16.7 minutes across his previous 10 appearances for Charlotte.
Feb 3, 2025
Downgraded to out
Salaun (illness) is out for Monday's game against the Wizards.
ANALYSIS
An illness will hold Salaun out of action Monday, and his next chance to return comes Wednesday against the Bucks. The rookie first-rounder hasn't appeared for the Hornets since Jan. 17, so his absence is unlikely to have a major impact on Charlotte's rotation against Washington.
Feb 3, 2025
Doubtful for Monday
Salaun (illness) is doubtful for Monday's game against the Wizards.
ANALYSIS
Salaun is fresh off a G League stint and hasn't seen any NBA action since Jan. 17.
Feb 2, 2025
Rejoins parent club
The Hornets recalled Salaun (illness) from the G League's Greensboro Swarm on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Salaun is not listed on the injury report for Monday's game against Washington, so he'll presumably be available to play after he wasn't available for either of the Swarm's matchups with the Capital City Go-Go on Friday and Saturday while battling an illness. The rookie first-round pick has been a member of the Charlotte rotation for much of the season, but he was sent to the G League on Jan. 18 after his playing time at the NBA level had begun to trend down.
Jan 18, 2025
Sent to G League
The Hornets assigned Salaun to the G League's Greensboro Swarm on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Salaun will likely be in the G League for only a short stint. The rookie forward is averaging 4.0 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 16.7 minutes across his last 10 NBA outings.
Jan 16, 2025
Minimal role in victory
Salaun accumulated zero points (0-2 FG, 0-2 3Pt), one rebound and one assist in 14 minutes during Wednesday's 117-112 victory over the Jazz.
ANALYSIS
Salaun has failed to score in back-to-back games. Across his last 10 outings, the rookie forward is averaging 4.5 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 17.7 minutes. Salaun is shooting just 30.8 percent from the field and 25.0 percent from three over that span.
Dec 30, 2024
Struggles again in loss
Salaun supplied three points (1-6 FG, 1-3 3Pt), eight rebounds and two assists across 17 minutes during Monday's 115-108 overtime loss to the Bulls.
ANALYSIS
Salaun scored fewer than five points for the fourth time in the past seven games, continuing his slow start to the season. Despite playing meaningful minutes on most nights, Salaun has been unable to take any significant strides forward. Through the first 29 games of his career, Salaun is averaging just 4.9 points and 4.3 rebounds in 19.2 minutes per game.
Dec 13, 2024
Good to go Friday
Salaun (ankle) is available for Friday's game versus the Bulls, Roderick Boone of The Charlotte Observer reports.
ANALYSIS
Salaun has been upgraded from questionable to available Friday after missing Charlotte's previous two contests with a sprained left ankle. The rookie forward has struggled with his efficiency this season, shooting 32.7 percent from the field and 29.4 percent from three.
Dec 12, 2024
Iffy to face Chicago
Salaun (ankle) is questionable for Friday's game against the Bulls.
ANALYSIS
The rookie is dealing with a left ankle sprain and has missed each of Charlotte's previous two games, but the questionable tag is a step in the right direction toward a potential return. Prior to the injury, Salaun had started six games in a row for the Hornets, averaging 7.7 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.3 steals across 25.5 minutes per game
Dec 8, 2024
Remains out Sunday
Salaun (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Pacers.
ANALYSIS
Salaun sprained his left ankle during the first quarter of Thursday's loss to the Knicks and will miss both halves of Charlotte's back-to-back set. With Miles Bridges (knee) also sidelined, Josh Green and Cody Martin have handled increased roles. Salaun's next chance to suit up will come Friday in Chicago.
Dec 6, 2024
Ruled out to face Cleveland
Salaun (ankle) is out for Saturday's game against the Cavaliers, Roderick Boone of The Charlotte Observer reports.
ANALYSIS
Salaun suffered an ankle sprain in the first quarter of Thursday's game against the Knicks, and the rookie will miss the team's upcoming contest against the Cavs. The severity of the sprain hasn't been determined yet, but Salaun's next chance to play will come against the Pacers on Sunday in the second leg of a back-to-back set. Expect Josh Green. DaQuan Jeffries and Cody Martin to see more time while Salaun is out.
Dec 5, 2024
Won't return vs. Knicks
Salaun has been ruled out for the rest of Thursday's game against New York after being diagnosed with a left ankle sprain.
ANALYSIS
Salaun injured his ankle during the first few minutes of Thursday's clash, and the team was quick to shut him down for the rest of the night. Look for Josh Green, Cody Martin and Nick Smith to pick up additional minutes in the frontcourt in Salaun's absence.
Dec 5, 2024
Heads to locker room
Salaun (ankle) headed to the locker room during the first quarter of Thursday's game against the Knicks, Steve Popper of Newsday reports.
ANALYSIS
The rookie forward got injured during a fast break when Josh Hart tried to cut him off. Even though he remained in the game to shoot free throws, he fouled Jalen Brunson to exit the game, and it remains to be seen if he'll be able to return. If he doesn't, then Josh Green would be a candidate to see more minutes at power forward.
Dec 3, 2024
Strong on glass in double-double
Salaun supplied 10 points (4-10 FG, 2-6 3Pt), 10 rebounds and two steals over 26 minutes during Tuesday's 110-104 loss to the 76ers.
ANALYSIS
Salaun was a solid presence in the paint Tuesday, finishing as one of two Hornets players with a double-digit rebound total while ending as one of four players in double figures in scoring in a double-double outing. Salaun set a new season high in rebounds in the loss while recording his first double-double of the season thus far.
Nov 25, 2024
Starting Monday
Salaun will start Monday's game against the Magic.
ANALYSIS
With Grant Williams (knee) done for the year, Salaun will move into the starting lineup. The rookie's previous two starts weren't great, as he totaled four points, 16 rebounds and three assists in 40 minutes, but the Hornets are going to have to live with some growing pains given their current injury situation.
Nov 22, 2024
Solid production off bench
Salaun had seven points (2-4 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT) and two rebounds over 13 minutes during Thursday's 123-121 overtime win over the Pistons.
ANALYSIS
In his last five games since moving back to the bench, Salaun is averaging 4.8 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 14.8 minutes. However, the rookie forward has been struggling with his efficiency, shooting just 31.6 percent from the field over that span.
Nov 12, 2024
Retreats to bench Tuesday
Salaun will come off the bench in Tuesday's game against the Magic.
ANALYSIS
After Grant Williams' season-high 17 points in Sunday's loss to Philadelphia, he will get the start over Salaun for Tuesday's NBA Cup matchup. The rookie started in the club's last two games with Miles Bridges (knee) out, though Salaun totaled only four points to go along with 16 rebounds and three assists while shooting a combined 2-for-11 from the field across a total of 40 minutes.
Nov 5, 2024
Limited again Monday
Salaun accumulated five points (2-10 FG, 1-7 3Pt), two rebounds, one assist and one steal across 22 minutes during Monday's 114-93 loss to Minnesota.
ANALYSIS
Despite logging meaningful minutes, Salaun continues to deliver modest production, at best. It's been an underwhelming start to his rookie season, although he has at least been able to carve out a regular spot in the rotation. The Hornets seem destined for another disappointing season, meaning there could come a time when they opt to lean into Salaun a little more. It is worth keeping an eye on his role as the season progresses.
Oct 25, 2024
Will be available Friday
Salaun (finger) has been upgraded to available for Friday's game against the Hawks.
ANALYSIS
The rookie did not suit up during the club's Opening Night due to the finger injury, and while chances are he wouldn't be available Friday, he'll suit up and should see minutes off the bench. This would be Salaun's debut in The Association.
Oct 24, 2024
Dealing with finger injury
Salaun is listed as questionable for Friday's game versus the Hawks due to a left finger sprain.
ANALYSIS
Salaun injured his finger despite not logging any minutes during Wednesday's regular-season opener. The rookie forward's potential absence shouldn't affect Charlotte's rotation.
Oct 18, 2024
Grabs 14 boards Thursday
Salaun amassed seven points (2-11 FG, 2-7 3PT, 1-2 FT), 14 rebounds, two assists and one block in 32 minutes during Thursday's 121-116 preseason loss to the Pacers.
ANALYSIS
Salaut shifted to the bench, allowing Seth Curry to slide into the starting lineup. Although his shot was not falling, Salaun found other ways to contribute, hauling in an impressive 14 rebounds. His role remains somewhat uncertain, but could certainly increase as the season progresses. He is not worth drafting in standard leagues but should the Hornets opt to lean into their youth at any point, he could pop up on the radar.
Oct 17, 2024
Not starting Thursday
Salaun is not in the starting lineup for Thursday's preseason game against the Pacers.
ANALYSIS
Salaun started against the Knicks on Tuesday, but the rookie will make way for Seth Curry, who will get the nod at shooting guard alongside Brandon Miller and LaMelo Ball in the backcourt. Salaun should see decent minutes off the bench, though, as this is the Hornets' preseason finale before the regular-season opener against the Rockets on Oct. 23.
Oct 16, 2024
Heavy playing time vs. Knicks
Salaun tallied 13 points (5-13 FG, 3-8 3Pt) and eight rebounds across 37 minutes during Tuesday's 111-105 preseason loss to the Knicks.
ANALYSIS
Salaun was inserted into the starting five for Seth Curry on Tuesday, and the former got an extended look with a game-high 37 minutes of playing time. The rookie first-round pick is expected to come off the bench for the start of the 2024-25 regular season, but Salaun could earn more minutes -- and possibly a spot in the starting rotation -- if he outplays Josh Green (rest) and Cody Martin early on.
Oct 15, 2024
Receives start vs. Knicks
Salaun will enter the starting lineup for Tuesday's preseason game against the Knicks.
ANALYSIS
The rookie will replace Seth Curry in the starting five, marking Salaun's first start of the preseason. The 19-year-old is expected to come off the bench this season, though if injury concerns arise for Josh Green (rest) or Cody Martin (wrist), Salaun will likely see an uptick in playing time.
Oct 11, 2024
Posts 13 points from bench
Salaun totaled 13 points (5-12 FG, 3-10 3Pt), five rebounds, an assist and a steal across 24 minutesin Thursday's 119-94 win over the Grizzlies.
ANALYSIS
Salaun will probably see a lot of time in the preseason. The first-round pick has an excellent chance to remain on the roster and avoid a G League post thanks to previous pro experience in France. The power forward enters a crowded depth chart and will play behind Miles Bridges this season.
Oct 6, 2024
Debuts with 11 points off bench
Salaun finished Sunday's preseason game against the Knicks with 11 points (4-8 FG, 3-5 3Pt) and one rebound in 22 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Making his NBA debut, Salaun held his own off the bench, draining three triples on his way to finishing as one of five Hornets players to score in double figures. The No. 6 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft is one of the biggest mysteries in the class, and it's unclear just how much of a regular role the 19-year-old will have when the regular season begins. For now, he's a player to keep an eye on in deeper leagues and dynasty formats.
Jul 13, 2024
Scores eight points Saturday
Salaun logged eight points (3-7 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 2-4 FT), seven rebounds and one assist in 14 minutes of Saturday's 94-90 Summer League win over the Knicks.
ANALYSIS
Selected with the No. 6 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, Salaun is considered a long-term bet on upside for the Hornets. In the short term, the Hornets could utilize his wingspan, athleticism and defensive energy off the bench. While playing for Cholet in France in the 2023-24 season, the forward averaged 9.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 1.0 assists.
Jul 1, 2024
Out of Hornets minicamp
Salaun will be unavailable for the Hornets' minicamp due to a minor laceration near his knee.
ANALYSIS
The No. 6 overall pick in the 2024 draft is expected to miss the club's minicamp in Sacramento on Tuesday, but he will likely be available for Summer League. The 18-year-old played for Cholet in France in the 2023-24 season, during which he averaged 9.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 1.0 assists across 22.7 minutes per game.
Jun 26, 2024
Selected No. 6 by Charlotte
Salaun has been selected with the No. 6 pick by the Hornets in the 2024 NBA Draft.
ANALYSIS
Salaun, out of French team Cholet, is an athletic power forward with a clean shooting stroke, and he's gifted at creating offense off the ball. He's also a gritty defender, but the 18-year-old does have room to grow as a ball handler. However, he'll find himself in a crowded forward rotation, competing for minutes with the likes of Brandon Miller, Grant Williams and potentially Miles Bridges, if Bridges comes back as a free agent. It's not an ideal situation for the rookie Salaun in terms of fantasy hoops.
