Trendon Watford Injury News & Updates
Keep up with the latest injuries from the Wizards vs 76ers game today with our National Basketball Association injury report.Nov 26, 2025
Out for at least two weeks
Watford (adductor) will be re-evaluated in two weeks, Noah Levick of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
ANALYSIS
Watford went down during Tuesday's blowout loss to the Magic, and he's since been diagnosed with a left adductor strain. The injury is likely to keep the forward sidelined until the middle of December. With Watford out of action, the 76ers are likely to turn to Dominick Barlow and Justin Edwards to help pick up the slack in the frontcourt.
Nov 25, 2025
Won't return vs. Magic
Watford has ruled out for the rest of Tuesday's game against Orlando due to a left adductor strain, Derek Bodner of AllPHLY.com reports. He recorded eight points (2-2 FG, 4-4 FT), one rebound and one assist in 11 minutes before exiting.
ANALYSIS
Watford has been shut down for the rest of the night, but he'll have a few days to recover before his team's next matchup Friday against Brooklyn. Jabari Walker and Johni Broome could pick up a few additional minutes in the second half Tuesday in Watford's absence.
Nov 25, 2025
Exits early Tuesday
Watford went to the locker room during the second quarter of Tuesday's game against the Magic due to an apparent groin injury, Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
Watford departed with 4:07 remaining in the half after looking to suffer the injury while bringing the ball up the court. He can be considered questionable to return until further notice.
Nov 23, 2025
Strong showing from second unit
Watford logged 19 points (7-12 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 4-5 FT), nine rebounds, seven assists, one block and one steal across 26 minutes off the bench during Sunday's 127-117 loss to the Heat.
ANALYSIS
The fifth-year forward already has one triple-double this season in a start against the Raptors on Nov. 8, and Watford came within sniffing distance of another as he led the Sixers in assists on the afternoon while finishing second in points and boards. His court time and usage remain inconsistent however, even with Joel Embiid (knee) and Kelly Oubre (knee) on the shelf -- Watford had failed to score in double digits in six straight games coming into Sunday, and he'd posted a goose egg in 14 minutes against the Bucks on Thursday. Until he begins to string solid performances together, Watford will be little more than a cheap DFS option for fantasy purposes.
Nov 17, 2025
Bench role Monday
Watford is not in the starting lineup ahead of Monday's game against the Clippers, Ky Carlin of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Watford started the 76ers' past four games, even posting a triple-double in his first outing of that stretch, but will move back to the bench with Paul George (knee) entering the starting lineup for his season debut Monday. George will be on a minutes restriction early, so Watford should still have a role, though the LSU product will need to maintain a high level of play to keep earning consistent minutes as George ramps up.
Nov 8, 2025
Logs first triple-double of career
Watford finished Saturday's 130-120 win over the Raptors with 20 points (8-10 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 3-5 FT), 17 rebounds, 10 assists and one block over 37 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Watford was inserted into the 76ers' starting lineup for the first time this season, and he took full advantage of the opportunity. He led both teams with career highs in both rebounds and assists en route to the first triple-double of his five-year NBA career, and he finished third on the team in points behind Tyrese Maxey (31) and Joel Embiid (29). Watford's breakout performance Saturday should keep him in the 76ers' starting lineup, at least until Paul George (knee) is cleared to make his 2025-26 debut.
Nov 8, 2025
Starting Saturday
Watford will start in Saturday's game against the Raptors, Noah Levick of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
ANALYSIS
The fifth-year forward will get the starting nod against Toronto, pushing Jabari Walker to the bench. Over five regular-season appearances off the bench thus far, Watford has averaged 8.4 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.8 assists in 19.2 minutes per contest.
Nov 5, 2025
Scores eight in loss
Watford contributed eight points (2-4 FG, 4-5 FT), four rebounds and two assists in 19 minutes during Tuesday's 113-111 loss to the Bulls.
ANALYSIS
Watford was unable to follow up his 16/9/7 game Sunday in Brooklyn, but still was a solid contributor off the bench. With Paul George (knee) and Dominick Barlow (elbow) nursing injuries, Watford may see himself in a prominent bench role again Wednesday against Cleveland.
Oct 29, 2025
Receives 18 minutes in debut
Watford (hamstring) logged two points (1-3 FG, 0-1 3Pt), four rebounds and three assists across 18 minutes in Tuesday's 139-134 overtime win over the Wizards.
ANALYSIS
Sidelined for Philadelphia's first three games due to a tight left hamstring, Watford was cleared to make his season debut Tuesday and provided the 76ers with some reinforcement at forward while Paul George (knee) and Dominick Barlow (elbow) were both out. Watford handled a meager 8.9 percent usage rate in the contest and came up empty in the defensive categories, but he finished second to only sixth man Quentin Grimes (39 minutes) in playing time among bench players. Even so, Watford is still likely to see his minutes get cut once the likes of George, Barlow and Jared McCain (thumb) return, and it wouldn't be surprising if Watford was cut out of head coach Nick Nurse's rotation entirely.
Oct 28, 2025
Good to go Tuesday
Watford (hamstring) will play Tuesday against the Wizards, Tony Jones of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Watford is all set to make his season debut after a hamstring issue delayed him to open the campaign. He's likely to be eased back into the mix, but there is a path to minutes for him with so many injuries in the frontcourt.
Oct 26, 2025
Remaining out for Monday
Watford (hamstring) has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Magic.
ANALYSIS
Watford will miss his third consecutive contest due to left hamstring tightness, and his next opportunity to suit up will come in Tuesday's game against the Wizards. With Paul George (knee) and Dominick Barlow (elbow) also sidelined, Jabari Walker and Justin Edwards are candidates for increased minutes.
Oct 24, 2025
Ruled out for Saturday
Watford (hamstring) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Hornets.
ANALYSIS
The 24-year-old will miss his second consecutive contest due to left hamstring tightness, and his next opportunity to make his season debut will come Monday against the Magic. With both Watford and Paul George (knee) sidelined, Dominick Barlow and Jabari Walker are candidates for an uptick in playing time.
Oct 21, 2025
Listed as out vs. Celtics
Watford (hamstring) is out for Wednesday's season opener against Boston.
ANALYSIS
Watford is not ready to make his season debut Wednesday. His next chance to return from a strained hamstring is Saturday against the Hornets. Justin Edwards will be an option for an expanded role until Watford is cleared to play.
Oct 20, 2025
Goes through practice
Watford (hamstring) practiced Monday, Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
Watford missed the entire preseason with a nagging hamstring strain, but he's trending in the right direction. He's likely doubtful for Opening Night against Boston on Wednesday, but he's likely to get the green light to return shortly.
Oct 19, 2025
Limited in practice Sunday
Watford (hamstring) was a partial participant in practice Sunday, Kyle Neubeck of AllPHLY.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Watford had been sidelined from both practice and game action while managing a right hamstring injury, so his participation -- even in a limited capacity -- marks encouraging progress. The forward signed a two-year deal with the 76ers in June and is expected to serve as a depth piece in the frontcourt.
Oct 17, 2025
Return not imminent
Watford (hamstring) is not close to returning to the floor, Tony Jones of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Watford is working his way back from a hamstring injury, ruling him out Friday for the preseason finale against Minnesota. The forward appears to be doubtful for the season opener Wednesday in Boston.
Oct 14, 2025
Still not doing live work
76ers head coach Nick Nurse said Watford (hamstring) is still "a ways away" from doing live work, Adam Aaronson of PhillyVoice.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Watford is working his way back from a hamstring injury, with the team clearly not rushing his return to the floor. It's likely he won't return until the regular-season opener against the Celtics on Oct. 22.
Oct 8, 2025
Remains out of practice
Watford (hamstring) was not able to practice Wednesday, Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
Watford missed both preseason games in Abu Dhabi with his right hamstring strain. Considering he's yet to be cleared to practice, it seems unlikely that he will suit up for Friday's exhibition against Orlando.
Oct 4, 2025
Held out vs. New York
Watford (hamstring) will not play Saturday against the Knicks, Adam Aaronson of PhillyVoice.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Watford was initially considered available to play in the team's second straight preseason game against New York. However, he was seen in street clothes on the bench, as he continues to deal with a minor hamstring issue. The next chance for him to play will be Oct. 10 against the Magic.
Oct 4, 2025
Available vs. New York
Watford (hamstring) is available to play in Saturday's game against the Knicks, Adam Aaronson of PhillyVoice.com reports.
ANALYSIS
After missing Thursday's preseason opener, Watford will suit up for Saturday's matchup in Abu Dhabi. There's still a chance he doesn't see the floor, with hamstring injuries needing to be handled carefully, especially considering the team's next game won't be until Oct. 10 against the Magic.
Oct 2, 2025
Out against Knicks
Watford (hamstring) won't be available for Thursday's game against the Knicks, Adam Aaronson of PhillyVoice.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Watford is considered day-to-day due to hamstring tightness, but the 76ers won't be taking any chances in their first taste of preseason action. Watford's next chance to play comes Saturday in a rematch versus the Knicks.
Sep 27, 2025
Dealing with hamstring tightness
Watford is considered day-to-day due to hamstring tightness, Tony Jones of The Athleticreports.
ANALYSIS
Watford played the last two seasons with the Nets, making 107 appearances during that span. Despite playing in only 44 games during the 2024-25 campaign, Watford put up career-high numbers in points (10.2) and assists (3.6) while shooting 46.9 percent from the floor and 33 percent from beyond the arc. He signed a two-year deal with Philadelphia on June 30.
Jun 30, 2025
Signs with Philadelphia
Watford agreed to a two-year, $5.3 million deal with the 76ers on Monday, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Watford will provide Philadelphia with frontcourt depth after averaging several career highs with Brooklyn last season. Over 44 regular-season appearances (six starts) with the Nets in 2024-25, the 24-year-old averaged 10.2 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.6 rebounds across 20.8 minutes per game.
Apr 13, 2025
All-around performance in loss
Watford totaled 20 points (8-12 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 3-5 FT), seven rebounds, four assists, two steals and a block in 33 minutes during Sunday's 113-105 loss to the Knicks.
ANALYSIS
Watford was a bright spot for the Nets Sunday, recording an efficient 20 points and adding four assists. The fourth-year pro also produced on the defensive end, coming up with his first steals over his last eight games. Watford closed the season strong, averaging 14.8 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.2 assists in 26.2 minutes per game over his last six appearances.
Apr 8, 2025
Leads all scorers with 22 points
Watford accumulated 22 points (7-8 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 6-6 FT), three rebounds and five assists over 23 minutes during Tuesday's 119-114 victory over New Orleans.
ANALYSIS
Despite being limited to 23 minutes, Watford led the Nets in scoring Tuesday while missing just one shot. Watford has posted 12.4 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 0.3 steals and 0.3 blocks in 25.0 minutes per game while shooting 50.6 percent from the field over his last nine outings, and he should hold onto a stable role with several key members of Brooklyn's rotation currently on the shelf.
Apr 3, 2025
Starting Thursday
Watford will start in Thursday's game against the Timberwolves, Sharif Phillips-Keaton of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
The 24-year-old will draw his first start of the 2024-25 campaign due to Jalen Wilson (ankle) and Cameron Johnson (back) being sidelined. Over his last five appearances, Watford has averaged 8.0 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.8 assists across 24.4 minutes per contest.
Mar 28, 2025
Will play vs. LAC
Watford (illness) has been cleared to play in Friday's game against the Clippers, Brian Lewis of the New York Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Watford will avoid having to miss time Friday despite dealing with an illness. The 24-year-old forward is having a career year with the Nets this season, averaging career-high numbers in points (9.8) and assists (2.4) while seeing increased playing time at a career-best 19.6 minutes per game for Brooklyn.
Mar 27, 2025
Questionable for Friday
Watford is questionable for Friday's game against the Clippers due to an illness, C.J. Holmes of the New York Daily News reports.
ANALYSIS
Watford lands on the injury report due to an illness, and a decision on his status will be made closer to the 7:30 p.m. ET tipoff Friday. He's been putting up solid numbers of late, averaging 14.3 points, 2.7 rebounds and 3.2 assists across 26.3 minutes per game over his last six outings off the bench.
Mar 22, 2025
Drops season-high 26 points
Watford notched 26 points (9-14 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 6-10 FT), five rebounds, one assist and one steal over 30 minutes during Saturday's 108-103 loss to Indiana.
ANALYSIS
Watford was a man on a mission Saturday, leading the Nets with a season-high 26 points. Don't look now but Watford has scored double-digits in four straight games, averaging 16.3 points, 3.0 assists and 1.0 steals during that time. The Nets are more than happy to play around with their rotation on a nightly basis. While Watford has been playing well, there is no guarantee he will see meaningful minutes as a rule.
Mar 20, 2025
Ejected Thursday
Watford was ejected during Thursday's game against the Pacers after an altercation with Myles Turner and Andrew Nembhard in the fourth quarter, Dustin Dopirak of The Indianapolis Star reports.
ANALYSIS
Watford started shoving Turner after a Pacers bucket with 4:48 left in the game, and Nembhard also engaged in the altercation, though in the end, only Watford was ejected after being assessed two technical fouls. Watford leaves the game with a stat line of 15 points (6-11 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 2-4 FT), five rebounds, two assists and a steal across 27 minutes.
Mar 16, 2025
Off injury report Sunday
Watford (hamstring) is not listed on Brooklyn's injury report for Sunday's game against Atlanta, Brian Lewis of the New York Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Watford will return to game action after missing Saturday's loss to Boston. The 24-year-old has been held out of two of the Nets' last five outings while the club manages his hamstring injury. Over his last 10 appearances, Watford has averaged 8.6 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 0.8 steals across 20.1 minutes per contest.
Mar 14, 2025
Won't suit up Saturday
Watford (ankle) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against Boston, Lucas Kaplan of NetsDaily.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Watford will miss his second outing over the club's last four due to left hamstring injury management. His next chance to play will come in the second half of the club's back-to-back set during Sunday's matchup against Atlanta. Jalen Wilson and Day'Ron Sharpe are candidates for an uptick in playing time due to Watford, Noah Clowney (ankle) and Nic Claxton (rest) being sidelined.
Mar 11, 2025
Available vs. Cleveland
Watford (hamstring) has been cleared to play Tuesday against the Cavaliers, Sharif Phillips-Keaton of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Watford missed Monday's win against the Lakers while nursing a hamstring issue, but he'll return to the floor for the Nets on Tuesday in Cleveland. The 24-year-old forward is averaging a career-high 9.1 points to go along with 3.4 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game while shooting a career-low 45.5 percent from the floor this season.
Mar 9, 2025
Not playing Monday
Watford has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Lakers due to left hamstring injury management, Erik Slater of ClutchPoints.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Watford has missed 37 games this season due to a hamstring injury that he suffered during training camp in early October. He's played in 13 of 15 games since the beginning of February, and while he'll miss Monday's game, he could be available for Tuesday's bout against Cleveland. Noah Clowney and Jalen Wilson stand to see increased minutes off the bench due to Watford's absence.
Mar 5, 2025
Nabs double-double in defeat
Watford ended with 12 points (4-8 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 3-4 FT), 10 rebounds, five assists and three steals over 23 minutes during Tuesday's 127-113 loss to San Antonio.
ANALYSIS
Watford recorded his first double-double of the season Tuesday, marking his seventh such outing over his four-year career. The 24-year-old also tied his career-high mark in steals, and he has racked up multiple swipes in five of his 25 regular-season appearances. Watford has appeared in six outings since the All-Star break, reaching the double-digit mark in points during four of them.
Mar 3, 2025
Available for Tuesday
Watford (hamstring) will be available for Tuesday's game against the Spurs.
ANALYSIS
Watford sat out the second leg of Brooklyn's back-to-back Saturday for precautionary reasons, but he'll likely see his usual minutes Tuesday. Watford is averaging 10.1 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 0.9 steals over his last 10 appearances.
Mar 1, 2025
Won't play against Detroit
Watford is out for Saturday's game versus the Pistons due to left hamstring injury management, Erik Slater of ClutchPoints.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Watford will sit out the second leg of Brooklyn's back-to-back Saturday for precautionary reasons. Jalen Wilson and Day'Ron Shapre could receive increased playing time in his absence. Watford's next chance to suit up is Tuesday's matchup with San Antonio.
Feb 22, 2025
Takes over in fourth quarter in win
Watford supplied 16 points (7-13 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 2-3 FT), one rebound and six assists over 24 minutes during Saturday's 105-103 win over the 76ers.
ANALYSIS
It was surprising to see Watford take over as Brooklyn's primary ball handler late in the game, with 11 of his 16 points coming during the fourth quarter of a tight contest. His six assists also represented the team high Saturday, marking Watford's new season best in the process. The 24-year-old's fantasy arrow is pointing up a bit, with averages of 14.4 points, 3.6 assists, 2.4 rebounds and 0.8 steals in 22.4 minutes over his last five games, and Watford could continue to see an uptick in playmaking duties while D'Angelo Russell (ankle) is sidelined.
Feb 13, 2025
Another solid showing off bench
Watford logged 18 points (7-8 FG, 4-4 FT), one rebound, two assists, one block and three steals across 24 minutes during Wednesday's 100-96 victory over Philadelphia.
ANALYSIS
Watford tied his season-high scoring mark with a very efficient performance, as he missed just one of his shots from the field, and he also did a good job of filling out the stat sheet. Watford has scored in double digits in each of his last three games, and he's going through one of his most productive stretches of the campaign now that the All-Star break is right around the corner.
Feb 11, 2025
Season-high four assists in win
Watford contributed 13 points (4-8 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds and four assists in 20 minutes during Monday's 97-89 victory over the Hornets.
ANALYSIS
Watford showed off his skills as a distributor during Monday's win against the Hornets. He finished with four assists against Charlotte, halfway to his career-high total (8). The 24-year-old big man is averaging a career-high 8.4 points per game to go along with 3.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists per contest for Brooklyn.
Feb 6, 2025
Cleared from injury report
Watford (hamstring) is off the injury report for Friday's game against the Heat.
ANALYSIS
After being rested on the second half of Brooklyn's back-to-back Wednesday against the Wizards, Watford is set to be available Friday. The 24-year-old is still working his way back from an extended absence with a hamstring injury, but he should still play a meaningful role from Brooklyn's bench against Miami. Over three games since returning, Watford has averaged 6.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 0.7 steals in 17.4 minutes.
Feb 5, 2025
Will be rested Wednesday
Watford (rest) will not play Wednesday against the Wizards.
ANALYSIS
Wednesday's game is the second leg of a back-to-back set, and Watford just returned from a 21-game absence Tuesday. During that game against the Hornets, Watford finished with nine points (4-9 FG, 1-2 3Pt), four rebounds and two assists across 18 minutes. He'll be a name to monitor in deeper formats, especially if the Nets unload some veterans at the deadline.
Jan 30, 2025
Puts up nine points in return
Watford (hamstring) tallied nine points (4-9 FG, 1-2 3Pt), four rebounds and two assists across 18 minutes Wednesday in the Nets' 104-83 win over the Hornets.
ANALYSIS
Brooklyn was without six players due to injury heading into Wednesday, but the return of Watford following a 21-game absence due to a hamstring strain helped restore some depth in the frontcourt. He initially entered the game as a backup at power forward, but he ended up seeing most of his minutes in the second half as center Nicolas Claxton's backup after Day'Ron Sharpe suffered a hamstring injury in the second quarter and was ruled out for the rest of the contest. Even if Noah Clowney (ankle) is back in action for the Nets' next game Saturday in Houston, Sharpe's likely absence for that contest should pave the way for Watford to stick around in the rotation.
Jan 28, 2025
Off injury report for Wednesday
Watford (hamstring) is off the Nets' injury report for Wednesday's game against the Hornets, Erik Slater of ClutchPoints.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Watford has missed Brooklyn's last 21 outings due to a left hamstring strain, though he is set to return to game action Wednesday. With the Nets missing several of their key contributors, including Cam Thomas (hamstring), Noah Clowney (ankle) and Cameron Johnson (ankle), Watford could be in line for significant playing time moving forward. However, it also wouldn't be surprising if the 24-year-old operates under a minutes restriction in his first game back on the court.
Jan 27, 2025
Gearing up for return
Watford (hamstring) is expected to return to game action either Wednesday against the Hornets or Saturday against the Rockets, Erik Slater of ClutchPoints.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Watford will miss his 21st consecutive contest Monday due to a left hamstring strain. However, he is seemingly closing in on a return to game action within the Nets' next two matchups. Head coach Jordi Fernandez said Friday that the 24-year-old is considered day-to-day at this point, per Sharif Phillips-Keaton of USA Today, though it wouldn't be surprising if Watford remains limited as the club works him back to full playing form.
Jan 26, 2025

Jan 24, 2025
Remains out for Saturday
Watford (hamstring) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Heat, Sharif Phillips-Keaton of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Watford will miss a 20th straight game for the Nets while dealing with a left hamstring strain. Even though he's been out for an extended period of time, the 24-year-old might be back sooner rather than later, as he is being considered day-to-day moving forward, which is a good sign for Brooklyn.
Jan 22, 2025
Still out Wednesday
Watford (hamstring) remains out for Wednesday's game against the Suns.
ANALYSIS
Watford has been sidelined for five weeks with a left hamstring strain, and the Nets haven't provided any clear updates regarding where exactly he stands in his recovery. Even if he's deemed ready to play at some point in the near future, Watford isn't certain to take on a regular spot in head coach Jordi Fernandez's rotation.

Jan 13, 2025
Still out for Tuesday
Watford (hamstring) has been ruled out for Tuesday's matchup versus Portland, Brian Lewis of the New York Post reports.
ANALYSIS
Watford will miss his 14th consecutive contest due to a left hamstring strain, and his next chance to suit up will come Wednesday against the Clippers. With the 24-year-old sidelined, Tosan Evbuomwan and Jalen Wilson should continue to see a bump in minutes.
Jan 11, 2025
Won't return Sunday vs. Utah
Watford (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Jazz.
ANALYSIS
Watford has been sidelined since Dec. 16 due to a left hamstring strain, and he hasn't quite progressed enough in his recovery to return Sunday. His next opportunity to play will be Tuesday against the Trail Blazers.
Jan 4, 2025
Out at least another week

ANALYSIS
Watford has made only one appearance since Dec. 8. His next chance to suit up will come Thursday in Milwaukee, but he can be considered doubtful for that game.
Dec 28, 2024
Won't play Sunday
Watford (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Magic, Erik Slater of ClutchPoints.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Watford has missed five straight games with a strained left hamstring and was slated for re-evaluation roughly one week after Dec. 19. There has yet to be an update on Watford's recovery, and he's listed as out on the Nets' initial injury report for Sunday's contest. It's unclear how close he is to returning, but his next chance to play will come Wednesday against Toronto.
Dec 19, 2024
Out at least another week
The Nets announced Thursday that Watford has been diagnosed with a left hamstring strain and his status will be updated in approximately one week, Meghan Triplett of YES Network reports.
ANALYSIS

Dec 18, 2024
Won't play Thursday
Watford (hamstring) will not play Thursday against the Raptors, Meghan Triplett of YES Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Watford is considered day-to-day with soreness in his left hamstring. He did not play in the second half of Monday's loss to Cleveland, but it's unclear if he'll be ready in time for Saturday's game against the Jazz. Jalen Wilson and Noah Clowney could see a bump in minutes in the meantime.
Dec 16, 2024
Won't return vs. Cavs
Watford has been ruled out for the remainder of Monday's game against Cleveland due to left hamstring soreness, Brian Lewis of the New York Post reports. He recorded eight points (2-3 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 3-3 FT) in 10 minutes before departing.
ANALYSIS
The Cavs were in command by the time Watford exited, so his presence shouldn't be missed during the final quarter and a half of play. Jalen Wilson and Noah Clowney will be in line for more opportunities down the stretch of Monday's matchup.
Dec 1, 2024

ANALYSIS
Watford looked to be on track to make his debut this past Friday against the Bulls, but after being cleared to play, he was downgraded to out after not responding as well to a pregame workout as the Nets had hoped. The 23-year-old has seemingly avoided a major setback, but Watford may need to turn in a full practice before the Nets sign off on him playing. Watford has scored in double digits in six of the last eight games and has averaged 13.1 points, 4.4 boards, 1.4 assists and 1.1 threes in 23.6 minutes a contest over that stretch while shooting 57.1 percent from the floor and 47.4 percent (9-for-19) from beyond the arc.
Apr 1, 2024

Watford finished with 21 points (8-11 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 4-7 FT), two rebounds, one steal and one block over 34 minutes in Monday's 133-111 loss to Indiana.
ANALYSIS
Watford led all bench players in Monday's contest in scoring while connecting on a team-high mark from the field and ending as one of two players with 20 or more points in his best offensive performance of the year. Watford set a new season high in scoring, surpassing the 20-point mark for the first time. Watford previously tallied a season-high point total March 25 when he posted 19 points, now having recorded at least 10 points in five straight outings off the bench.
Mar 31, 2024
Leads bench in near double-double
Watford notched 15 points (7-10 FG, 1-2 3Pt), eight rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal over 29 minutes in Sunday's 116-104 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers.
ANALYSIS
Watford led all bench players in Sunday's contest in scoring while hauling in a team-high rebound total and ending two boards shy of a double-double to provide a spark off the Brooklyn bench. Watford has recorded 15 or more points in five games this season while setting a new season high in rebounds in the loss. He has tallied at least 10 points and five rebounds in seven appearances off the bench.
Mar 26, 2024
Scores season-high mark Monday
Watford chipped in 19 points (7-10 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 3-5 FT) and seven rebounds in 21 minutes during Monday's 96-88 win over Toronto.
ANALYSIS
The Nets didn't have their best offensive performance, as evidenced by the fact they only scored 96 points, but Watford made his presence felt off the bench with his best scoring mark of the season. Watford might gain a more significant role if the Nets are eliminated from playoff contention, but for now, he should remain a bench alternative with limited fantasy upside.
Feb 28, 2024
Goes for 14 points off bench
Watford had 14 points (4-10 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 6-6 FT) and seven rebounds over 19 minutes during Tuesday's 108-81 loss to the Magic.
ANALYSIS
Watford is not the most consistent performer and doesn't have a steady role in the rotation, but he's making a solid case for more minutes off the bench in a Nets team that doesn't have a clear direction with a few weeks left in the regular season. Watford has scored in double digits in each of his last three bench appearances in which he's logged double-digit minutes.
Feb 15, 2024
Leading scorer off bench Wednesday
Watford closed Wednesday's 136-86 loss to the Celtics with 15 points (5-7 FG, 2-2 3Pt, 3-3 FT), two rebounds and one assist over 26 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Watford saw extended playing for the second time in three games as the Nets saw themselves down by as many as 56 points in Wednesday's loss. He and Mikal Bridges were the only two Brooklyn players to score in double-digits. Watford is averaging 6.0 points across 12.1 minute per game this season, and doesn't figure to get more playing time following the All-Star break.
Feb 9, 2024
Strong performance off bench
Watford closed with 15 points (5-13 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 5-5 FT), six rebounds, two assists and two blocks in 26 minutes during Thursday's 118-95 loss to Cleveland.
ANALYSIS
Watford doesn't have a big role off the bench for the Nets, but he was trusted into a more prominent workload here, and he delivered by posting one of his best scoring marks of the campaign. It was just the second time he reached the 15-point plateau, and while he might see decent minutes off the bench going forward, he doesn't contribute enough to be a valuable asset in most fantasy formats outside of extremely deep leagues.
Dec 15, 2023
Dishes out six dimes
Watford posted eight points (4-10 FG, 0-1 3Pt), four rebounds, six assists and two blocks over 22 minutes during Thursday's 124-101 loss to the Nuggets.
ANALYSIS
Watford matched his second-highest minutes total of the season Thursday and put together a versatile stat line that included season-high marks in assists and blocks. He's played double-digit minutes in four consecutive appearances, averaging 7.8 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 17.5 minutes per game.
Nov 17, 2023
Plays 10 minutes in loss
Watford chipped in four points (2-3 FG), two rebounds and one assist across 10 minutes during Thursday's 122-115 loss to Miami.
ANALYSIS
Watford has appeared in six of the Nets' last nine games. During that stretch, he's played double-digit minutes four times. In those contests, he's averaged 9.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.0 steals in 17.5 minutes per game. Those are solid per-minute stats, but his role is too inconsistent to trust in fantasy, especially given Ben Simmons (hip) may return to action soon.
Nov 8, 2023
Recalled from G League
Watford was recalled from the G League's Long Island Nets on Wednesday, NBA freelance journalist Billy Reinhardt reports.
ANALYSIS
Watford had a brief stint in the G League, as he'll rejoin the parent club a few hours after being assigned to Long Island. He's unlikely to be a significant part of Brooklyn's rotation.
Nov 2, 2023
Well-rounded production off bench
Watford recorded 11 points (4-6 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, four assists and one steal across 14 minutes during Wednesday's 109-105 win over the Heat.
ANALYSIS
Watford wasn't part of the Nets' rotation over the first three games of the season, but he saw double-digit minutes Wednesday and contributed in multiple areas. Part of his uptick in playing time may have been due to Spencer Dinwiddie (ankle) being unavailable, and even though Watford had an encouraging performance, it seems unlikely that he'll be able to maintain consistent minutes once the team is healthier.
Oct 12, 2023
Solid from free throw line in win
Watford posted 12 points (3-5 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 6-7 FT), five rebounds, two assists and one steal over 16 minutes during Thursday's 135-103 preseason win over Ra'anana.

Aug 3, 2023

Watford will join the Nets after spending the first two seasons of his career with the Trail Blazers. In 2022-23, he averaged 7.4 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 19.1 minutes across 62 appearances. Watford will likely compete for a depth role in Brooklyn's forward rotation.
Jun 30, 2023
Let go by Portland
Watford was waived by the Trail Blazers on Friday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Watford has been a productive reserve over the last two seasons in Portland, finishing with averages of at least 7.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 0.5 steals and 18.0 minutes per game in both campaigns. However, he's been let go to start free agency and will look for new opportunities elsewhere. The undrafted product out of LSU has started 22 of his 110 NBA appearances and figures to land at least a two-way deal this summer.
Apr 9, 2023

Watford (ankle) is good to go for Sunday's game against the Warriors.

Apr 9, 2023
Probable Sunday
Watford (ankle) is probable for Sunday's game against the Warriors.
ANALYSIS
Watford should continue to power through the ankle issue, and with Drew Eubanks (ankle) status up in the air for Sunday's game, Watford could again draw the start at center. Check back for official word on his status closer to tip-off.
Apr 8, 2023

Apr 7, 2023
Listed as probable
Watford (ankle) is listed as probable for Saturday against the Clippers.
ANALYSIS
Despite the Blazers missing so many players recently, Watford's minutes have been held in check. He still produced a quality line on Thursday versus the Spurs, scoring 16 points with six rebounds, three assists and one block in 20 minutes.
Apr 7, 2023
Solid production in return
Watford registered 16 points (7-12 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 2-2 FT), six rebounds, three assists and one block in 20 minutes during Thursday's 129-127 loss to the Spurs.
ANALYSIS
Watford returned to the starting lineup following a one-game absence, and despite solid production, he played only 20 minutes. With the Trail Blazers essentially shutting down most of their regulars, Watford has drawn a start in each of his past nine appearances, averaging 12.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.0 steals in 26.4 minutes during that stretch.
Apr 6, 2023
Good to go Thursday
Watford (ankle) is available for Thursday's game against the Spurs.
ANALYSIS
Watford has been upgraded from questionable to available and will suit up after missing Portland's previous contest. He figures to draw another start at power forward alongside Drew Eubanks with Portland resting a litany of regulars again. Over his past nine appearances (seven starts), Watford has averaged 11.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.2 steals in 26.8 minutes per game.
Apr 5, 2023
Listed as questionable
Watford (ankle) is questionable for Thursday's game against the Spurs.
ANALYSIS
Watford is in danger of missing a second straight game due to a right ankle sprain. If that's the case, Drew Eubanks (back) would likely draw the start at center, while John Butler and Jabari Walker would be candidates for increased roles off the bench.
Apr 4, 2023
Will be held out Tuesday
Watford (ankle) will not play Tuesday against Memphis according to Casey Holdahl of the Trail Blazers' official site.
ANALYSIS
Watford played the previous two games for Portland, but he saw limited minutes. The Blazers have been evaluating several different players and it's likely that we see guys like Jabari Walker and John Butler Jr. get a big opportunity Tuesday.
Apr 3, 2023
Questionable Tuesday
Watford (ankle) is questionable for Tuesday's game against the Grizzlies.
ANALYSIS
Watford has been playing through the ankle issue the past few games, which could explain why he hasn't logged major minutes despite Portland missing so many key players. We'll get official word on Watford closer to Tuesday's tip, but with him playing banged up, he's a somewhat risky target in fantasy hoops.
Apr 2, 2023
Posts 15 points while banged up
Watford closed with 15 points (6-8 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 3-5 FT), three rebounds and two assists over 19 minutes during Sunday's 107-105 win over the Timberwolves.

Mar 30, 2023
Upgraded to questionable
Watford (ankle) is questionable for Friday's game against the Kings.
ANALYSIS
Watford has missed two consecutive games with a sprained right ankle but may have a chance to return Friday. If he's able to go, Nassir Little and Kevin Knox could less action. However, with four starters out for Portland, there should be plenty of opportunities for whoever suits up.
Mar 29, 2023
Out Wednesday
Watford (ankle) will not play Wednesday against the Kings.
ANALYSIS
This will be the second straight game on the sidelines for Watford, which should result in ample minutes for Nassir Little and Kevon Knox. Watford's next chance to play will come in a rematch with the Kings on Friday.
Mar 28, 2023
Unlikely to play Wednesday

Watford produced 21 points (9-16 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), nine rebounds, five assists, two blocks and one steal over 35 minutes during Wednesday's 127-115 victory over Utah.
ANALYSIS
Watford filled in once again for Jerami Grant (thigh) and came one rebound shy of his fourth double-double of the season. The LSU product has only averaged 6.6 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists this season, but he immediately becomes fantasy -relevant when an injury occurs for Portland.
Mar 22, 2023

Watford has scored in double figures in six straight appearances (two starts) and is averaging 11.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.5 steals in 30.0 minutes during that stretch.

ANALYSIS
Watford struggled from the field, but he was able to record his third double-double of the season. His 10 rebounds were the most he's pulled down in a game since mid-December. The young backup has seen plenty of opportunity lately, but now that Jusuf Nurkic (calf) is back, fantasy managers will want to keep an eye on the minutes distribution over these next few games.

Operates as playmaker Tuesday
Watford chipped in two points (1-4 FG, 0-1 3Pt), seven rebounds, seven assists and two steals in 23 minutes during Tuesday's 123-105 loss to the Warriors.
ANALYSIS
Watford continues to play around 20 minutes per night with Jusuf Nurkic (calf) and Justise Winslow (ankle) out, and while he's been an inconsistent scoring threat, he's showcased a versatile skill set that warrants some fantasy intrigue. Over his last 10 appearances, the second-year big man has averaged 8.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 21.6 minutes while shooting 60.0 percent from the field.
Feb 24, 2023
Strong performance in loss
Watford logged 15 points (6-7 FG, 3-4 FT), three rebounds and four assists across 19 minutes during Thursday's 133-116 loss to the Kings.
ANALYSIS
Watford missed just one shot from the field en route to his first double-digit scoring effort since Feb. 4. Over his past 10 appearances, the backup big man is averaging 8.8 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 21.7 minutes per game. As long as Jusuf Nurkic (calf) and Justise Winslow (ankle) remain out, Watford should have a clear path to 20 minutes a night.
Feb 13, 2023
Available Monday
Watford (ankle) will be available to play Monday against the Lakers.
ANALYSIS
Watford could see quality minutes in this one with Jerami Grant (concussion) unavailable, so he could be someone to consider rolling the dice on in daily fantasy leagues. Matisse Thybulle, Cam Reddish and Nassir Little could also qualify as potential deep league streamers with Grant watching from the sidelines.

Dealing with sprained ankle
Watford is
ANALYSIS
Watford tweaked his ankle over the weekend but it doesn't look like it will cost him any time. With that said, the Blazers are heading into a three-game week that begins with a back-to-back, so the forward's status is worth keeping an eye on. Watford has played at least 16 minutes in six straight games and could see a slight uptick going forward after Portland sent out Josh Hart and Gary Payton II at the trade deadline.
Feb 3, 2023
Solid outing in increased role
Watford chipped in 21 points (9-12 FG, 2-2 3Pt, 1-1 FT), three rebounds, five assists and one steal over 30 minutes during Friday's 124-116 win over the Wizards.
ANALYSIS
The second-year pro out of LSU played over 20 minutes in his third consecutive contest Friday. Watford stepped up without starting Center Jusuf Nurkic (calf), putting in his first twenty-point game of the 2022-2023 season. Friday was an efficient and well-rounded performance, and Watford is worth a speculative add in fantasy leagues while the situation in Portland shakes out.
Feb 2, 2023
Resurfaces in rotation
Watford finished Wednesday's 122-112 win over the Grizzlies with five points (2-6 FG, 1-1 3Pt), three rebounds, two assists and one block in 22 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Watford has now logged 20-plus minutes in both of his past two appearances, which he's sandwiched around the Trail Blazers' 129-125 win over the Hawks on Monday, when he didn't leave the bench at all in a coach's decision. It's no coincidence that Watford's elevated playing time in the two games came when Jusuf Nurkic didn't play or exited early due to a recurring left calf injury. Nurkic was spotted in a walking boot following Wednesday's contest and appears unlikely to play Friday in Washington, which likely sets Watford up for at least a short-term opportunity to stay in head coach Chauncey Billups' rotation. Drew Eubanks should get the first chance to start in Nurkic's stead and remains a preferred speculative pickup in fantasy over Watford.
Jan 18, 2023
Remains an afterthought
Watford had two points (1-1 FG) over two minutes during Tuesday's 122-113 loss to the Nuggets.
ANALYSIS
Watford saw two minutes of garbage time Tuesday, continuing what has been a hugely disappointing season. After showing flashes during his rookie campaign, including scoring double-digits in 12 of his final 13 games, Watford has struggled to carve out a consistent role. He has played no more than five minutes in four consecutive games and is clearly on the outside looking in when it comes to meaningful minutes.
Dec 17, 2022
Will play against Rockets
Watford (Achilles) will play Saturday against the Rockets, Jamie Hudson of KOIN 6 News Portland reports.
ANALYSIS
Watford had been deemed as probable, so his availability here shouldn't be a major surprise. He's averaging 5.6 points and 4.2 rebounds across 17.5 minutes per game this season.
Dec 17, 2022
Listed as probable
Watford is considered probable for Saturday's contest against the Rockets due to left Achilles soreness.
ANALYSIS
Watford's injury designation indicates he is trending towards playing, but that will not likely be confirmed until closer to tip-off. He could be in line for a bigger role than usual if Jerami Grant (back) ultimately gets ruled out, as he is listed as questionable.
Dec 17, 2022
Records double-double in loss
Watford supplied 16 points (5-8 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 4-5 FT), 11 rebounds, six assists and two steals over 24 minutes during Friday's 130-110 loss to the Mavericks.
ANALYSIS
Watford got some extra minutes and had one of his best fantasy performances of the season Friday night. His 16 points and 11 boards gave him his second double-double on the year and he matched his season high with six assists. The backup forward shot the ball efficiently and also grabbed two steals, the most he's had in a game since early November. While this kind of opportunity may not continue next game, at least we know he's capable of being a relevant fantasy producer when given the minutes.
Dec 16, 2022
Will suit up Friday
Watford is available for Friday's matchup against Dallas.
ANALYSIS
As expected, Watford will be available after initially being listed as probable with Achilles soreness. Over his past 12 appearances (two starts), the backup big man has averaged 5.6 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 18.1 minutes per game.
Dec 15, 2022
Probable Friday
Watford is probable for Friday's game at Dallas due to left Achilles soreness.
ANALYSIS
Watford has held a consistent bench role since making his season debut in early November. Over his past five appearances, he's averaged 3.2 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 12.6 minutes.
Dec 4, 2022
Shifting back to bench
Watford will return to the bench for Sunday's game against the Pacers, Dustin Dopirak of the Indy Star reports.
ANALYSIS
With Josh Hart back from injury, Watford will head back to the bench after a two-game stint as a starter. In those two contests, the LSU product logged a 10-point, 10-rebound double-double against the Lakers and nine-point, 14-rebound effort against the Jazz.
Dec 1, 2022
Logs double-double as starter
Watford posted 10 points (4-6 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 10 rebounds and one assist over 31 minutes during Wednesday's 128-109 loss to the Lakers.
ANALYSIS
Watford logged his first start of the campaign due to the absence of Josh Hart (ankle). Watford responded with his first double-double since his final game of last season while tying his season high in scoring. He's been a non-factor in fantasy this season and has remarkably failed to block a single shot over 226 total minutes, so there's no need to pluck him off the waiver wire yet even if he remains in the starting unit for additional contests.
Nov 30, 2022
Joins starting five
Watford is in the starting five for Wednesday's game against the Lakers, Casey Holdahl of the Trail Blazers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Watford will replace Josh Hart (ankle) in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game. Watford is averaging 5.1 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 16.3 minutes across 12 games this season.
Nov 6, 2022
Solid in debyt
Watford recorded nine points (2-7 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 5-6 FT), four rebounds and one assist in 16 minutes during Saturday's 102-82 loss to the Suns.
ANALYSIS
A hip injury has kept Watford out of action, and although his shot looked a little rusty, he was able to mic it up and contribute in limited action. His role is yet to be determined, but as he improved he should rise into the second unit.
Nov 5, 2022
Could debut Saturday
Watford (hip) is probable for Saturday's game against the Suns, Aaron J. Fentress of The Oregonian reports.
ANALYSIS
Watford's strained right hip has prevented him from making his season debut, but that could change Saturday. In 18.1 minutes per game last season, he averaged 7.6 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.7 assists. The sophomore may struggle to see that sort of run this season behind a relatively crowded frontcourt, but he figures to garner center minutes if Jusuf Nurkic or Drew Eubanks suffer an injury.
Nov 4, 2022
Downgraded to out
Watford (hip) won't play in Friday's game versus the Suns.
ANALYSIS
Watford was previously listed as doubtful for Friday's contest due to a hip flexor strain. The rookie big man has yet to make his NBA debut and will have to wait until at least Saturday against the Suns to do so.
Nov 3, 2022
Doubtful Friday
Watford is doubtful for Friday's matchup against the Suns, Casey Holdahl of the Trail Blazers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Watford has been held out of the entirety of the young 2022-23 campaign due to a hip flexor strain, but is listed as doubtful for Friday. Although he may not be likely to suit up, being listed as doubtful is an encouraging sign nevertheless.
Nov 1, 2022
Won't play Wednesday
Watford (hip) is out for Wednesday's game versus the Grizzlies, Casey Holdahl of the Trail Blazers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Watford has yet to make his season debut as he is still dealing with a hip flexor strain. Watford's next opportunity to play is Friday versus the Suns, although there is no exact timetable for his return.
Oct 28, 2022
Remains out Friday
Watford (hip) is listed as out for Friday's game against the Rockets.
ANALYSIS
Watford will remain sidelined Friday as he continues to work his way back from a hip flexor strain. His next chance to make his 2022-23 debut will be next Wednesday against the Grizzlies.
Oct 25, 2022
Out again Wednesday
Watford (hip) is listed as out for Wednesday's game versus the Heat.
ANALYSIS
Watford has not yet made his season debut due to a right hip flexor strain. Watford's next opportunity to play will be Friday versus Houston. The second-year forward will compete with Justise Winslow and Drew Eubanks for bench minutes in the frontcourt when he returns.
Oct 24, 2022
Won't play Monday
Watford (hip) is listed as out for Monday's game against the Nuggets.
ANALYSIS
Watford will remain out for the second half of a back-to-back set with the right hip flexor strain that has thus far prevented him from making his 2022-23 debut. The second-year forward handled a significant role in the Portland frontcourt following the All-Star break as a rookie, but he may not be a lock for the rotation when healthy now that the Trail Blazers are at better health at power forward and center at this early stage of the new season.
Oct 22, 2022
Out Sunday
Watford (hip) is out Sunday against the Lakers.
ANALYSIS
Watford's right hip flexor strain will continue to delay his season debut. His next chance to play arrives Monday against the Nuggets.
Oct 20, 2022
To remain out Friday
Watford (hip) won't play in Friday's game against the Suns, Casey Holdahl of the Trail Blazers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Watford wasn't available for Wednesday's opener due to a right hip issue, and he'll remain sidelined for Friday's tilt with Phoenix. His next chance to make his season debut will be Sunday against the Lakers.
Oct 18, 2022
Officially out Wednesday
Watford (hip) won't play in Wednesday's game against the Kings, Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee reports.
ANALYSIS
Watford has been dealing with a hip injury dating back to the preseason, and as a result, the forward will officially miss the season opener. Watford will presumably be tabbed day-to-day leading up the the team's next contest Friday against the Suns.
Oct 11, 2022
Re-aggravates injury Tuesday
Watford (hip) exited Tuesday's preseason game versus the Warriors, Aaron J. Fentress of The Oregonian reports.
ANALYSIS
Watford aggravated the right hip flexor that caused him to miss Portland's first two preseason games. The second-year forward's status for the regular-season opener on Oct. 19 is uncertain. Watford is in line to be one of the team's top frontcourt options off the bench this season.
Oct 6, 2022
Set to return Thursday
Watford (hip) will start Thursday's exhibition game against Maccabi Ra'anana, Sean Highkin of BleacherReport.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Watford missed Portland's first two preseason games due to a hip injury, but it appears he's had enough time to recover as he joins the starting five for Thursday's exhibition. The second-year forward figures to be a valuable part of the Blazers' frontcourt rotation in 2022-23 after averaging 13.6 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.0 blocks per game in five Summer League appearances.
Oct 4, 2022
Remains out Tuesday
Watford (hip) will remain out Tuesday versus the Jazz, Casey Holdahl of the Trail Blazers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
This will be Watford's second straight absence this preseason due to a lingering hip injury. His next chance to take the floor is Sunday versus the Kings.
Oct 3, 2022
Sitting Monday
Watford (hip) won't play in Monday's preseason game against the Clippers, Casey Holdahl of the Trail Blazers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
It's unclear as to when Watford may have picked up the injury, but the team will hold him out of a meaningless exhibition while he recovers. He figures to be re-evaluated Tuesday morning to determine his availability for Tuesday's preseason matchup with Utah.

Named MVP of LVSL final
Watford finished with 19 points (7-15 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 2-4 FT), seven rebounds, three steals, two assists and one block across 27 minutes Sunday in the Trail Blazers' 85-77 win over the Knicks en route to claiming MVP honors for the final game of the Las Vegas Summer League.
ANALYSIS
Watford missed the final eight games of the his rookie season in 2021-22 due to a bone contusion of his left femur, but he received full medical clearance well in advance of the Trail Blazers' summer slate. The second-year forward appeared in five total summer league games, averaging 13.6 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.0 blocks in 28.8 minutes per contest.
Apr 9, 2022
Out for finale
Correcting a previous update, Watford is out for Sunday's finale against the Jazz.
ANALYSIS
Watford will miss an eighth straight game to conclude the year. He began seeing a strong uptick in minutes when the Blazers began tanking, and that was taken to another level when Watford was elevated to the starting lineup. In his final 13 appearances, he averaged 15.4 points, 6.7 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.0 blocks in 31.5 minutes.
Apr 9, 2022
Off injury report
Watford (leg) is off the injury report for Sunday's game against the Jazz, Jamie Hudson of KOIN 6 News Portland reports.
ANALYSIS
After seven straight absences, Watford should be able to return for the final game of the season. He's started the past nine matchups he's appeared in, averaging 15.8 points, 6.2 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.0 blocks in 32.0 minutes.
Apr 8, 2022
Won't play Friday
Watford (leg) has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Mavericks.
ANALYSIS
Watford hasn't played since March 26. His final chance to return this season will come Sunday against Utah.
Mar 27, 2022
Will be reevaluated in one week
An MRI revealed Watford "sustained a bone contusion to his left femur" after hyperextending his left knee during Saturday's contest against the Rockets, Jamie Hudson of KOIN 6 News Portland reprots.
ANALYSIS
Before the injury, the rookie totaled 15 points (7-11 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 1-2 FT), 10 rebounds, five assists and two steals across 30 minutes. Hudson relays that the Blazers will reevaluate Watford in a week, but with only two weeks remaining in the regular season, it's possible the dynamic big man has played his last game of the campaign. In his absence, Elijah Hughes, Drew Eubanks and Greg Brown (eye) are all candidates for increased roles.
Mar 27, 2022
Carried off with injury
Watford was carried to the locker room with an apparent left leg injury, Casey Holdahl of the Trail Blazers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Watford dropped a double-double in Saturday's contest, but he left it with a few minutes to go as a result of his injury. His status will be updated when more details are available.
Mar 22, 2022
Stuffs stat sheet in win
Watford posted 13 points (5-9 FG, 3-6 FT), three rebounds, four assists, two blocks and three steals in 30 minutes during Monday's 119-115 victory over the Pistons.
ANALYSIS
Watford grades as a two-way negative contributor -- especially defensively -- but he's a fantasy darling for his statistical production. Portland's full rotation is tough to gauge, as Justice Winslow (achilles) returned Monday, but Josh Hart (knee/load management) sat. When given ample run, Watford is a roster candidate in standard leagues and an under-the-radar league winner.
Mar 15, 2022
Feast again
Watford finished with 22 points (9-19 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), nine rebounds, two assists and four blocks across 39 minutes during Monday's 122-113 loss to Atlanta.
ANALYSIS
Watford is a volume scorer at the power forward position. He's now accumulated at least 22 points in each of his last three outings. Watford is worth a look in most standard leagues, but the eventual return of Justice Winslow (achilles) looms.
Mar 13, 2022
Posts career-best point total again
Watford chipped in 27 points (11-16 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 5-5 FT), six rebounds, three assists and two steals over 38 minutes during Saturday's 127-118 victory over the Wizards.
ANALYSIS
Watford scored a then career-best 22 points against Utah on Wednesday, and he was rewarded by moving into the starting lineup for Saturday's contest against Washington. The rookie big man responded by outdoing his previous effort, going off for 27 points on an efficient shooting line to help Portland snap a six-game skid. Watford's recent play could lead to additional chances to start, especially with Jusuf Nurkic (foot) uncertain to return by the end of the campaign.
Mar 10, 2022
Posts career-high point total
Watford ended Wednesday's 123-85 loss to the Jazz with 22 points (6-14 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 9-9 FT), three rebounds and one block in 29 minutes.
ANALYSIS
There wasn't much for Portland to celebrate in the blowout loss, but Watford was certainly a bright spot, as he tallied a career-high and team-leading 22 points. That total included a perfect 9-for-9 performance from the charity stripe as well as the big man's second three-pointer in as many games. Watford has hit double-digit scoring in four straight contests and is averaging 14.5 points, 7.8 boards, 3.3 assists, 1.0 three-pointers and 1.0 blocks over that stretch.
Mar 9, 2022
Back to bench Wednesday
Watford will come off the bench Wednesday against the Jazz, Jay Allen of NBC Sports Northwest Rip City Radio 620 reports.
ANALYSIS
Watford made the first start of his NBA career Monday against Minnesota and had 11 points (4-8 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 2-2 FT), seven rebounds and three assists in 30 minutes, but he'll return to the bench with Elijah Hughes (illness) available and starting. Watford should still figure into Portland's rotation as a reserve since Justise Winslow (Achilles) remains out.
Mar 7, 2022
Making first career start
Watford will start Monday's game against Minnesota, Blazers radio host Jay Allen reports.
ANALYSIS
Watford has held down a consistent role in the frontcourt since early January, but this will be his first NBA start. The LSU product is coming off of his first NBA double-double Saturday against the Wolves, when he finished with 12 points, 14 rebounds, four assists and a block in 32 minutes.
Mar 6, 2022
Nabs first career double-double
Watford finished with 12 points (3-8 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 6-8 FT), 14 rebounds, four assists and one block across 32 minutes Saturday in the Trail Blazers' 135-121 loss to the Timberwolves.
ANALYSIS
Watford continues to come off the bench after Portland shut center Jusuf Nurkic (foot) down following the All-Star break, but the undrafted rookie has now picked up more minutes than Nurkic's replacement in the starting five -- Drew Eubanks -- in both of the past two games. After recently having his two-way deal converted to a three-year standard contract, Watford is seemingly a greater part of Portland's future plans than Eubanks, who is playing on his second 10-day contract with the club. With that in mind, Watford could eventually move into a starting role, but so long as he gets the greater share of minutes in the frontcourt, he'll be someone worth keeping an eye on in 12-team leagues and deeper.
Mar 3, 2022
Posts well-rounded effort in loss
Watford had 13 points (5-12 FG, 2-2 3Pt, 1-2 FT), seven rebounds, six assists and one block across 30 minutes during Wednesday's 120-90 loss to Phoenix.
ANALYSIS
Watford came off the bench Wednesday but logged the second-most minutes on the club in the lopsided defeat. The 21-year-old earned the extended playing time -- his most of the campaign -- with a diverse stat line that included season highs in points and assists. Watford hasn't yet posted numbers worthy of fantasy relevance, but he should see ample opportunity down the stretch with Jusuf Nurkic out multiple weeks due to a foot injury.
Feb 21, 2022
Upgraded to standard NBA deal
Watford agreed Monday with the Trail Blazers to terminate his two-way contract in order to sign a four-year, $5.8 million standard contract, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
According to Wojnarowski, the final two years of Watford's contract are non-guaranteed, but the new deal should nonetheless allow the rookie big man to stick around in Portland through at least the 2022-23 campaign. Despite going undrafted out of LSU this past summer, the 6-foot-8, 237-pound Watford has able to make a strong early impression at the NBA level. He settled in as the primary backup to starting center Jusuf Nurkic once the calendar flipped to 2022, averaging 5.5 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 15.5 minutes per game while shooting 60.4 percent from the field over his 24 appearances since the beginning of January.
Feb 14, 2022
Flirts with double-double
Watford chipped in nine points (4-7 FG, 1-1 3Pt), 10 rebounds, five assists and one steal in 23 minutes during Monday's 122-107 win over Milwaukee.
ANALYSIS
Watford nearly secured his first double-double of the 2021 campaign, and he managed to log 20 or more minutes for the fourth time in the last six games. He'll continue to sit behind Jusuf Nurkic going forward but it wouldn't be surprising to see him get plenty of opportunities due to a lack of depth at center for Portland.
Feb 8, 2022
Available Tuesday
Watford (ankle) is available for Tuesday's matchup against the Magic.
ANALYSIS
As expected, Watford will be available for reserve center minutes. Since the start of January, he's averaging 5.4 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 14.9 minutes.
Feb 7, 2022
Probable vs. Orlando
Watford is listed as probable for Tuesday's game against the Magic due to a right ankle injury, Casey Holdahl of the Trail Blazers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Watford has been battling an ankle issue of late but hasn't missed any game time. Barring any last-minute setbacks, expect the LSU product to be available Tuesday evening.
Feb 4, 2022
Good to go
Watford (ankle) will be available for Friday's contest against the Thunder, Casey Holdahl of the Trail Blazers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Watford has been nursing an ankle injury recently but will play through it Friday. He has averaged 7.0 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 steals across 15.8 minutes over the previous five games.
Feb 3, 2022
Questionable Friday
Watford (ankle) is questionable for Friday's game against the Thunder.
ANALYSIS
Watford has been bothered by an ankle injury lately, but it hasn't caused him to miss time. Over the past five games, he's averaged 7.0 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 steals in 15.8 minutes.
Feb 2, 2022
Active Wednesday
Watford (ankle) is available to play Wednesday against the Lakers, Jamie Hudson of KOIN 6 News Portland reports.
ANALYSIS
Watford was originally deemed questionable with an ankle injury he suffered during Monday's game against the Thunder. However, the injury doesn't appear to be too serious and Watford will likely resume a normal workload Wednesday.
Feb 1, 2022
Questionable vs. Lakers
Watford is questionable for Wednesday's matchup against the Lakers due to a sprained right ankle, Casey Holdahl of the Trail Blazers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Watford has been seeing backup center minutes due to Portland's injured frontcourt. If he's forced to sit out, Robert Covington would presumably cover backup minutes at the five.
Jan 30, 2022
Three blocks in 22 minutes
Watford produced 10 points (5-6 FG, 0-1 3Pt), two rebounds, two assists and three blocks in 22 minutes during Sunday's 130-116 loss to Chicago.
ANALYSIS
While the Blazers did hit 18 threes and shoot nearly 52 percent as a team, there weren't many positive takeaways from the blowout loss. However, Watford continues to emerge as a semi-intriguing backup center behind Jusuf Nurkic. The LSU product has now played double-digit minutes in 12 of the last 13 games, reaching the 20-minute plateau three times during that stretch. His three blocks Sunday marked a new career high.
Jan 26, 2022
Takes control of backup center job
Watford tallied two points (1-2 FG, 0-1 3Pt) and five rebounds in 14 minutes off the bench Tuesday in the Trail Blazers' 109-107 loss to the Timberwolves.
ANALYSIS
The undrafted rookie out of LSU has appeared in each of Portland's last 12 games, averaging 4.4 points, 3.5 rebounds and 0.9 assists in 13.3 minutes. He could make for an intriguing pickup the event Jusuf Nurkic misses time at any point, but for now, Watford isn't likely to see his role expand. Watford at least seems to have a solid grip on the backup center job, as Larry Nance (knee) is without a clear timeline for return, while Cody Zeller (knee) looks in danger of missing the rest of the regular season after undergoing surgery Tuesday.
Jan 2, 2022
Out of protocols
Watford (COVID-19) has exited health and safety protocols, Casey Holdahl of the Trail Blazers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Watford has reportedly cleared protocols after missing the past three games. Watford is currently averaging 1.8 points across nine outings.
Dec 24, 2021
Enters protocols
Watford entered COVID-19 protocols Friday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Watford and Dennis Smith entered protocols simultaneously, prompting the Blazers to re-test the entire roster. Portland's next game is Monday against the Mavericks.
