Handles light minutes in return
Edgecombe (calf) recorded seven points (3-6 FG, 1-4 3Pt), two rebounds, two assists and two steals across 21 minutes in Sunday's 142-134 double-overtime loss to the Hawks.
ANALYSIS
Edgecombe made his return after sitting out Philadelphia's prior three games while managing a left calf issue, but he seemingly had some restrictions in place. The 21 minutes he received were by far his fewest of the season, as he had logged at least 32 minutes in each of his previous 15 appearances. Edgecombe should eventually return to a 30-plus-minute role once he gets fully ramped up, but the rookie No. 3 overall pick appears to have settled in as more of a supporting player for Philadelphia after he wowed fantasy managers with a 34-point performance on 31.2 percent usage in his NBA debut back on Oct. 22. Since then, Edgecombe is averaging 13.8 points, 5.7 boards, 4.1 assists, 1.7 three-pointers and 1.3 steals in 36.0 minutes per contest while shooting 39.8 percent from the field and 78.1 percent from the charity stripe.

Cleared to play Sunday
Edgecombe (calf) is available and starting Sunday against the Hawks, Austin Krell of OnPattison.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Edgecombe will return from a three-game absence due to a left calf injury, though he'll be on an unspecified minutes restriction, according to Adam Aaronson of PhillyVoice.com. With the rookie back in action, Quentin Grimes will retreat to the bench.
Nov 29, 2025
Questionable for Sunday
Edgecombe (calf) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Hawks, Adam Aaronson of PhillyVoice.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Edgecombe continues to nurse a left calf injury. Even though he's missed the last three games, the rookie out of Baylor might be available to play Sunday, though a decision will be made closer to Sunday's tipoff. Edgecombe is averaging 15.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game this season.
Nov 27, 2025
Remains out Friday
Edgecombe (calf) is out for Friday's game against the Nets.
ANALYSIS
Edgecombe seems to be moving in the right direction toward returning to action, but Friday's game comes too soon for him. The rookie out of Baylor will miss a third straight game, and that means Quentin Grimes should continue to start at shooting guard next to Tyrese Maxey in the backcourt. Edgecombe's next chance to play will come against the Hawks on Sunday.
Nov 26, 2025
Practices Wednesday
Edgecombe (calf) practiced Wednesday, Noah Levick of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
ANALYSIS
It's an encouraging sign amid the rookie first-rounder's recovery from calf tightness. With the 76ers back in action Friday against the Nets, the team may not officially update his injury designation until Thursday. For now, Edgecombe can be tentatively considered questionable.
Nov 24, 2025
Ruled out vs. Magic
Edgecombe (calf) won't play in Tuesday's game against the Magic, Adam Aaronson of PhillyVoice.comreports.
ANALYSIS
Left calf tightness is costing Edgecombe a second straight game. The rookie first-rounder will be trying to recover in time for Friday's matchup against Brooklyn. Jared McCain played a season-high 26 minutes in Sunday's loss to Miami, setting him up as a strong streaming option for Tuesday.
Nov 23, 2025
Won't play Sunday
Edgecombe (calf) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Heat, Adam Aaronson of PhillyVoice.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Edgecombe will miss his first game of the season due to left calf soreness. The rookie has started all 15 contests for the 76ers, averaging 15.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.3 steals in 37.3 minutes per game. In his absence, Quentin Grimes is a likely candidate to join the starting lineup Sunday.
Nov 22, 2025
Questionable for Sunday
Edgecombe is questionable for Sunday's game against the Heat due to left calf tightness, Austin Krell of OnPattison.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Edgecombe must have tweaked his calf during Thursday's win in Milwaukee, and now he's in danger of missing Sunday's game. We'll have a better idea on his status based on his activity level at Sunday's shootaround, but if he's not able to give it a go, that would open up minutes for Quentin Grimes, Justin Edwards and Eric Gordon.
Nov 21, 2025
Second double-double of season
Edgecombe accumulated 12 points (5-14 FG, 2-4 3Pt), 10 rebounds and three assists over 38 minutes during Thursday's 123-114 overtime victory over the Bucks.
ANALYSIS
The rookie out of Baylor posted an impressive line -- even if his shooting numbers were subpar -- en route to his first game with at least 20 points since late October. Edgecombe has done a good job of adjusting to opposing defenses, but he's making strides of late. He's now scored at least 14 points in three games in a row.
Nov 20, 2025
Stuffs stat sheet in loss
Edgecombe ended Wednesday's 121-112 loss to the Raptors with 21 points (8-20 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 4-5 FT), six rebounds, four assists, two blocks and three steals over 37 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Edgecombe didn't have a great shooting night but more than made up for it on the defensive end, tying his career-highs in steals and blocks. The 2025 first round pick continues his fantastic rookie campaign, averaging 15.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 1.4 steals, 0.5 blocks and 2.0 threes.
Nov 14, 2025
Scores 18 points with four treys
Edgecombe notched 18 points (6-15 FG, 4-8 3Pt, 2-2 FT), seven rebounds, three assists and one steal over 37 minutes during Friday's 114-105 loss to the Pistons.
ANALYSIS
Edgecombe had been struggling mightily in his previous five outings, converting just 27.9 percent of his shot attempts, but he snapped out of the shooting funk in this one and finished as Philly's second-leading scorer. He'll look to keep it going Monday against the Clippers.
Nov 14, 2025
Good to go
Edgecombe (back) will play in Friday's game against the Pistons.
ANALYSIS
Edgecombe was previously labeled questionable due to back spasms, but the rookie has been upgraded to available. He's yet to miss a game this season. After a hot start to the campaign, Edgecombe has cooled off significantly, as he's averaging just 8.8 points and shooting 26.5 percent from the field across his past four appearances.
Nov 13, 2025
Questionable vs. Pistons
Edgecombe (back) is questionable for Friday's game against the Pistons.
ANALYSIS
The rookie first-rounder is in jeopardy of missing his first game of the season due to a back spasm. His status could come down to a game-time decision based on Friday's pregame warmups. If Edgecombe joins Paul George (knee) on the sidelines, Quentin Grimes could be in line for a spot start at shooting guard.
Nov 10, 2025
Struggles with shot in loss
Edgecombe provided 11 points (3-9 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 4-6 FT), six rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal across 32 minutes during Sunday's 111-108 loss to the Pistons.
ANALYSIS
Edgecombe turned heads after scoring 34 points in his NBA debut, but he's cooled off lately as opposing defenses have begun to plan against him. The former Baylor standout is in the midst of a cold stretch where he's failed to reach the 15-point mark in four straight games. In that stretch, Edgecombe is averaging 10.3 points and 7.0 rebounds per game while shooting 30 percent from the field in that four-game stretch. He'll continue to have upside as a starter in the backcourt next to Tyrese Maxey, but fantasy managers should be cautious about what he might bring to the table based on his recent struggles.
Nov 6, 2025
Underwhelms in loss
Edgecombe racked up seven points (3-14 FG, 0-5 3Pt, 1-2 FT), four rebounds and four assists across 37 minutes during Wednesday's 132-121 loss to Cleveland.
ANALYSIS
Edgecombe posted season-lows in points and field goals made Wednesday, and was unable to make a three-pointer. Despite the lackluster performance, Edgecombe is still having a phenomenal rookie season, averaging 17.6 points, 5.6 rebonds, 4.8 assists, 1.4 steals, 0.3 blocks and 2.3 threes made, so look for him to bounce back Saturday against the Raptors.
Nov 4, 2025
Posts first NBA double-double
Edgecombe totaled 12 points (4-12 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 11 rebounds, four assists and two steals in 38 minutes during Tuesday's 113-111 loss to Chicago.
ANALYSIS
Edgecombe struggled to find his footing from the field, but he made up for it by turning in his first career double-double. He paced the Sixers in rebounds, beating his previous season high of seven rebounds Oct. 22 against Boston. Edgecombe's scoring production has cooled off a bit over his last few appearances, but he's still finding ways to make an impact.
Nov 2, 2025
Collects three steals
Edgecombe finished with 16 points (6-12 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds, three assists and three steals in 33 minutes during Sunday's 129-105 win over Brooklyn.
ANALYSIS
Edgecombe turned in another solid night in the scoring column, sinking 50.0 percent of his tries from the field while drilling two triples for a second straight appearance. He also bounced back on the defensive end, leading Philly in steals after failing to record a steal in his previous matchup Friday against Boston. Edgecombe will look to continue this hot start to his rookie campaign Tuesday in Chicago.
Oct 28, 2025
Drops 26 in win
Edgecombe ended Monday's 136-124 win over Orlando with 26 points (10-17 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 4-4 FT), seven assists, four rebounds, a steal and a block across 39 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Edgecombe has had a blistering start to his NBA career thus far, averaging 25.0 points, 6.0 assists, 5.7 rebounds, 1.7 steals and 0.7 blocks on 50/40/75 shooting splits. Philadelphia has also gone 3-0 to start the season, which can largely be attributed to the rookie's success. Look for Edgecombe to uphold his high level of play Tuesday against the Wizards.
Oct 26, 2025
Posts 15/6/8/1/3 in win
Edgecombe supplied 15 points (6-15 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), six rebounds, eight assists, one block and three steals across 40 minutes during Saturday's 125-121 victory over the Hornets.
ANALYSIS
Sixers rookie VJ Edgecombe continued his impressive start to the season by contributing across the board in Saturday's win. He finished second behind Tyrese Maxey (9) with eight assists while leading Sixers with three steals. Edgecombe looks locked in as Philadelphia's starting shooting guard, and he'll get another opportunity to dazzle against the Magic on Monday night.
Oct 22, 2025
Nets 34 points with full line
Edgecombe popped off for 34 points (13-26 FG, 5-13 3Pt, 3-6 FT), seven rebounds, three assists, five triples, one steal and two turnovers in 42 minutes during Wednesday's 117-116 season-opening win over Boston.
ANALYSIS
Wow, what a debut. Edgecombe's 34 points accounted for the third-most ever scored by a rookie in his NBA debut, and he joined the great Allen Iverson as the only rookies in 76ers' history to record 30 points in their first NBA game. This also came against a capable defensive team in a tight game, so Edgecombe is clearly going to be a pivotal part of Philly's offense this season. Congrats if you snagged him towards the later rounds on draft day.
Oct 17, 2025
Rips away five steals in win
Edgecombe racked up 26 points (10-18 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 4-4 FT), six rebounds, three assists, five steals and one turnover in 34 minutes during Friday's preseason win over the Timberwolves.
ANALYSIS
It's worth noting that this stat line came against the Timberwolves B Team, with Minnesota resting most of their key guys, but Edgecombe was impressive nonetheless. He did an excellent job of disrupting passing lanes and he showed a lot of hustle on offense, but most importantly, the rookie looked ready. He should see meaningful minutes right away for Philadelphia.
Oct 17, 2025
Good to go Friday
Edgecombe (hip) will play in Friday's preseason game against Minnesota, Adam Aaronson of PhillyVoice.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Edgecombe's hip soreness was never considered serious, so this isn't a surprise. That being said, the 76ers may exercise caution with his minutes since this is the preseason finale.
Oct 10, 2025
Won't play Friday
Edgecombe (hip) will not play in Friday's preseason game against the Magic, Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
ANALYSIS
The 76ers will be taking a cautious approach with the rookie. He did not practice Thursday, but he went through Friday's morning shootaround and remains listed as day-to-day with soreness.
Oct 9, 2025
Dealing with hip soreness
Edgecombe did not practice Thursday due to hip soreness, Tony Jones of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Edgecombe will be re-evaluated Thursday evening, and his status for Friday's preseason game against Orlando will be updated accordingly. Edgecombe has generated a ton of buzz throughout training camp and coach Nick Nurse said Wednesday that he could be in the starting lineup for Opening Night alongside Tyrese Maxey and Quentim Grimes if the team decides to roll with three guards.
Oct 4, 2025
Drops 10 in loss
Edgecombe finished with 10 points (3-9 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 3-3 FT), one rebound, two assists and one block across 24 minutes during Saturday's 113-104 loss to the Knicks.
ANALYSIS
The promising young rookie cracked double digits in the scoring column, even though he struggled with his shooting. However, he has shown flashes of brilliance with his athleticism and could make an impact in his first season in Philadelphia.
Oct 2, 2025
Plenty of run in preseason opener
Edgecombe tallied 14 points (4-13 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 5-5 FT), six rebounds and three assists in 30 minutes during Thursday's 99-84 preseason loss to the Knicks.
ANALYSIS
Edgecombe made a nice impression in his first NBA game action, also leading the team in minutes Thursday. With Jared McCain (thumb) likely to miss the onset of the regular season, Philadelphia will likely want to take a long look at Edgecombe during the preseason as an option for an expanded role. The rookie first-rounder should offer the 76ers disruptive defense no matter what his role is, as he averaged 2.1 steals per game over 33 contests for Baylor in 2024-25.
Oct 2, 2025
Starting preseason opener
Edgecombe will start Thursday's preseason opener against the Knicks.
ANALYSIS
The 76ers do have some injuries, but they won't be wasting any time here. The No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, Edgecombe will immediately jump into the starting lineup following a standout Summer League and a great start to training camp.
Jul 18, 2025
Done for Summer League
Edgecombe (rest) has been ruled out for Friday's Summer League game against the Nets, Adam Aaronson of PhillyVoice.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Edgecombe's time in the Las Vegas Summer League has come to an end. The Baylor product filled up the stat sheet in his last outing, finishing with 15 points, six rebounds, four assists, three steals and one block against the Wizards. The No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft has a chance to carve out a significant role right out of the gate in the 2025-26 NBA season.
Jul 16, 2025
Won't play Wednesday
Edgecombe (rest) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Mavericks, Tony Jones of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Edgecombe will rest during the second game of a back-to-back during the Las Vegas Summer League. The Baylor product is coming off a well-rounded performance in Tuesday's win against the Wizards, where he finished with 15 points, six rebounds, four assists, three steals and one block in 30 minutes on the floor. The next chance for the No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft to return will be Friday against the Nets.
Jul 15, 2025
Strong second half in SL win
Edgecombe finished with 15 points (4-14 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 6-6 FT), six rebounds, four assists, three steals and one block over 30 minutes in Tuesday's 74-58 Summer League win over the Wizards.
ANALYSIS
Edgecombe was held scoreless in the first half but found his rhythm after the break, finishing with 15 points. The No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft had missed the past four games with a sprained left thumb, so just his return to the floor is an encouraging sign for the 76ers. The athletic specimen averaged 15.0 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 2.1 steals while shooting 43.6 percent from the field and 34.0 percent from beyond the arc in 33 games at Baylor last season.
Jul 15, 2025
Good to go Tuesday
Edgecombe (thumb) will play in Tuesday's Summer League game against the Wizards, Adam Aaronson of PhillyVoice.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, Edgecombe will return to action following a four-game absence due to a sprained left thumb. The 19-year-old recorded 28 points (13-26 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 1-3 FT), 10 rebounds, four assists, two blocks and one steal across 30 minutes during his debut in Philadelphia's Salt Lake City Summer League loss to the Jazz on July 5.
Jul 12, 2025
Remaining out Saturday
Edgecombe (thumb) has been ruled out for Saturday's Summer League game against the Hornets, Kyle Neubeck of AllPHLY.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Edgecombe will miss his third straight game this summer due to a sprained left thumb. However, there is optimism that the No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft will return at some point during Summer League. His next opportunity to suit up will come in Tuesday's matchup against the Wizards.
Jul 9, 2025
Diagnosed with thumb sprain
Edgecombe has been diagnosed with a left thumb sprain, and he has been ruled out for Thursday's Las Vegas Summer League game against the Spurs, Ky Carlin of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Edgecombe missed back-to-back Summer League contests in Salt Lake City after suffering what was initially deemed a left thumb contusion. Further testing revealed he's dealing with a sprain. Edgecombe excelled in his lone appearance in Salt Lake City, logging 28 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, two blocks and a steal, so don't be surprised if the 76ers play it safe with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. His next chance to play will come Saturday against the Hornets. Per Carlin, Edgecombe has continued to participate in on-court workouts during his absence.
Jul 8, 2025
Ruled out Tuesday
Edgecombe (thumb) won't play in Tuesday's Summer League game against the Grizzlies, Kyle Neubeck of AllPHLY.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Edgecombe will miss his second consecutive outing due to a left thumb contusion, though the No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 Draft remains day-to-day. His next chance to suit up will come Thursday against the Spurs.
Jul 7, 2025
Won't play Monday
Edgecombe has been ruled out for Monday's Summer League matchup against the Thunder due to a thumb contusion, Tony Jones of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Edgecombe will sit out Monday's contest, though his absence is just expected to be a precautionary measure by the 76ers. The 19-year-old can be considered day-to-day moving forward, and his next chance to suit up will come Tuesday against the Grizzlies.
Jul 5, 2025
Makes debut for 76ers
Edgecombe recorded 28 points (13-26 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 1-3 FT), 10 rebounds, four assist, one steal and two blocks across 30 minutes of Saturday's 93-89 Summer League loss to the Jazz.
ANALYSIS
The No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, Edgecombe is set to be the featured player for the 76ers for the duration of the Summer League, unless the team pulls him early. His role during the regular season will likely be much different, however, as usage will be hard to come by alongside the likes of Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and Paul George.
Jun 25, 2025
Lands with Philadelphia
Edgecombe was selected by the 76ers with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.
ANALYSIS
Edgecombe joins a 76ers team that began the 2024-25 season with playoff aspirations but ended up with the No. 3 pick after an injury-riddled campaign. The Baylor product impressed in his lone year in Waco, averaging 15.0 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 2.1 steals while shooting 43.6 percent from the field and 34.0 percent from three-point range in 33 games. Widely considered one of the most athletic prospects in the draft, the 19-year-old has the physical tools to transition well to the NBA. He'll be surrounded by a strong core featuring Joel Embiid (knee), Tyrese Maxey (finger), Paul George (thigh) and Jared McCain (knee), all of whom missed time last season and will look to lead a bounceback effort in 2025-26.
