Leads team in scoring again
Cryer racked up 23 points (8-16 FG, 5-12 3Pt, 2-2 FT) and four rebounds across 38 minutes during Friday's 66-60 win over Xavier.
ANALYSIS
Cryer has now scored 18 or more points in five of his last six games for the Cougars, averaging 19.7 points per game over that stretch. For the season, the senior transfer from Baylor leads Houston in scoring by a wide margin, as his 17.8 average outpaces Emmanuel Sharp by more than six points per contest.

Tops Cougars in scoring
Cryer finished Monday's 79-48 victory over Stetson with 21 points (9-15 FG, 3-6 3Pt), one rebound, two assists and two steals over 32 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Cryer shot only 3-for-16 from three in his first two games with Houston but began to reclaim his stroke on Monday. The senior transfer from Baylor scored in double figures and shot over 40% from behind the arc in each of his last two seasons in Waco. Through three games, Cryer currently leads the defensive-minded Cougars in scoring with a 15 point-per-game average.

Picks up scoring slack in exhibition
Cryer had 21 points (7-15 FG, 5-11 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two assists and two steals across 33 minutes in Saturday's 86-47 exhibition victory over UNC Pembroke.
ANALYSIS
On a night in which point guard Jamal Shead was limited to just two points (but recorded eight assists), it was up to Cryer to lead the scoring, and he did so in an efficient manner. It was also disclosed leading up the the game that fellow transfer guard Damian Dunn is dealing with a "really bad ankle injury" and is without a return timetable, which means Cryer might have to carry even more of the scoring in the early going. The Baylor transfer averaged 15.0 ppg a season ago for the Bears.
Aug 10, 2023
Notches 16 points in Australia
Cryer scored 16 points in Houston's 93-52 win in Australia, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Cryer can certainly score in bunches, and he'll be a big part of what the Cougars do offensively. In his third year at Baylor, the guard logged 15.0 points, 2.1 rebounds and 2.0 assists on 45/41/89 shooting splits. Expect him to take another step forward in his senior season for Houston.
May 30, 2023
Returning to school
Cryer has exited the 2023 NBA Draft. Jeff Goodman of Stadium reports.
ANALYSIS
Cryer will return to college this offseason after exploring the 2023 NBA Draft process. The 6-foot-1 junior transferred to Houston this offseason after appearing with Baylor last season. Cryer, who averaged 15 points, 2.1 rebounds and two assists on 32.3 minutes per game with the Bears last season, will look to carve out a similar role with the Cougars next season.
Apr 9, 2023
Commits to Houston
Cryer committed to Houston on Sunday, per Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports.
ANALYSIS
Marcus Sasser forewent collegiate eligibility after Houston's 2022-23 season. Wanting a guard in place of their previous superstar, the Cougars decided to get Cryer. The junior averaged 15.0 points and 2.0 assists across 31 games he played during his 2022-23 season.
Apr 3, 2023
Hitting transfer portal
Cryer will enter the transfer portal, per Jeff Borzello of ESPN.com.
ANALYSIS
Cryer declared for the NBA Draft in late March, but is now exploring the portal route as well. Cryer still has his senior year of eligibility should he elect to spend another year in college, although it appears that won't be at Baylor. The guard averaged 15.0 points on 45/42/90 splits this season in Waco.
Mar 29, 2023
Will enter NBA Draft
Cryer will enter the 2023 NBA Draft, he announced on his Twitter account.
ANALYSIS
While maintaining his senior year of collegiate eligibility, Cryer will attempt to turn pro after three seasons with Baylor. The guard averaged 15.0 points across 31 games he played as a junior. Despite serving as Baylor's tertiary scorer, third to Adam Flagler and Keyonte George, Cryer did well enough to earn a spot on the 2023 All-Big 12 Third Team.
Mar 20, 2023
30 points not enough to advance
Cryer amassed 30 points (13-22 FG, 4-11 3Pt, 0-1 FT), two rebounds and one assist in 34 minutes during Sunday's 85-76 loss to Creighton.
ANALYSIS
Baylor will be disappointed to head home in the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the second straight year, but Cryer doesn't have much to hold his head down about. His 30 points were a career high and he made a bunch of big shots that kept Baylor without striking distance. With Adam Flagler and Keyonte George expected to depart, Cryer could be in position for a monster senior season should he stay with the Bears in 2023-24.
Feb 28, 2023
Plays 40 minutes in win
Cryer notched 15 points (5-15 FG, 3-10 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds and two assists in 40 minutes during Monday's 74-68 victory over Oklahoma State.
ANALYSIS
Cryer played every minute for the first time this season, as he had to carry a bigger role with leading scorer Keyonte George (ankle) sitting out and reserve guard Langston Love (eye) forced out early Monday. However, the Bears' starting point guard, who averaged 14.6 points while attempting 10.0 field-goal attempts per game over the previous seven contests, recorded one of his least efficient shooting performances of the season. However, Cryer has still shot 45.4 percent from the field overall and 42.2 percent from beyond the arc this season. Therefore, Cryer could still be in line for a significant jump in scoring should George and Love both remain sidelined during Saturday's regular-season finale versus Iowa State.
Feb 12, 2023
23 points Saturday
Cryer closed Saturday's 72-68 victory over TCU with 23 points (8-11 FG, 4-6 3Pt, 3-3 FT), three rebounds, two assists and one steal over 36 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Cryer recorded his most points in a game since his 28-point outing Nov. 20 against UCLA. The 6-foot-1 junior was also highly efficient from the floor despite coming off a foot injury in Baylor's previous game Wednesday against Oklahoma. Cryer has now averaged 14.4 points, 2.2 rebounds and 2.0 assists while serving as the Bears' third-leading scorer behind Adam Flagler and Keyonte George, with the latter two posting 28 and four points Saturday, respectively. Expect these three to continue forming a three-headed scoring attack for the Bears moving forward.
Feb 11, 2023
Good to go against TCU
Cryer (foot) is in the starting lineup for Saturday's game versus TCU.
ANALYSIS
Cryer is available Saturday after suffering a foot injury in his previous game. The junior guard is averaging 14.0 points, 2.1 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 30.9 minutes across 21 contests this season.
Feb 10, 2023
Questionable Saturday
Cryer (foot) is a game-time decision for Saturday's game versus TCU, Eric Kelly of KWKT Fox 44 reports.
ANALYSIS
Cryer is in danger of missing Saturday's game due to a foot injury he suffered against Oklahoma. If he's unable to suit up, his next chance to play will be Monday's matchup with West Virginia.
Feb 9, 2023
Suffers foot injury
Cryer suffered a foot injury during Baylor's 82-72 win Wednesday versus Oklahoma, according to Kurtis Quillin of KCENNews.
ANALYSIS
After defeating Oklahoma, Baylor's head coach Scott Drew could not give any information concerning Cryer. He will have an availability status that is questionable before the team plays its next game, currently scheduled Saturday at TCU. Dale Bonner or Langston Love are expected to be part of Baylor's starting lineup if Cryer must sit out against Texas Christian.
Jan 29, 2023
Increased shooting production
Cryer chipped in 20 points (6-13 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 6-6 FT), two rebounds and one assist across 36 minutes during Saturday's 67-64 win over Arkansas.
ANALYSIS
Cryer finished as Baylor's second-leading scorer behind freshman Keyonte George. The junior shooting guard saw his offensive role take a slight dip after coming back from a concussion in early January, attempting an average of 7.6 field goals across the following five games. However, Cryer has now logged double-digit field-goal attempts in each of the past three games, scoring six, 22, and 20 points across these contests. He, George and Adam Flagler should continue to serve as the Bears' top scoring options moving forward.
Jan 18, 2023
Perfect from beyond the arc
Cryer supplied 18 points (5-7 FG, 4-4 3Pt, 4-7 FT), four rebounds and one assist in 29 minutes during Tuesday's 81-74 win over Texas Tech.
ANALYSIS
Cryer posted his fourth double-digit scoring outing across his five appearances during Big 12 play. The 6-foot-1 junior has also been on a hot streak from deep, hitting all but one of his nine three-point tries across the past two games. Cryer now ranks third on the team in points per game (14.2) behind frontcourt-mates Keyonte George (17.7) and Adam Flagler (16.0). Cryer does lead this trio in field-goal percentage (46.9), and he narrowly sits third in field-goal attempts (10.8) behind George (13.3) and Flagler (11.8). However, he doesn't provide as much value on the boards (2.2) or as an offensive distributor (2.1 assists), making his fantasy value strictly contingent on scoring moving forward.
Jan 5, 2023
Choppy in first game back
Cryer had 13 points (3-9 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 6-6 FT), one rebound and two assists over 34 minutes during Wednesday's 88-87 loss to TCU.
ANALYSIS
Cryer logged double-digit points for the eighth time this season after missing the previous two games with a concussion. However, this was largely due to his season high in three-throw attempts, as he was rather inefficient from both behind the three-point line and from the floor overall. Cryer does rank second on the team in field-goal attempts with 12.1 per game, though he's third in scoring (14.7) behind backcourt-mates Adam Flagler (16.2) and Keyonte George (16.4). These three should continue to carry Baylor's primary scoring duties as the team progresses through Big 12 play.
Jan 4, 2023
Returns to lineup
Cryer (concussion) is in the startling lineup for Wednesday's game versus TCU.
ANALYSIS
Cryer will replace Dale Bonner in the starting lineup Wednesday after missing the last two games with a concussion. The junior guard has started in all 10 of his appearances this season.
Jan 3, 2023
Able to practice
Cryer (concussion) is able to practice, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Cryer is no longer part of concussion protocol. Currently, he has questionable availability before the Bears host TCU on Wednesday.
Dec 31, 2022
Out Saturday
Cryer (concussion) will remain out during Saturday's showdown with Iowa State, John Werner of the Waco Tribune-Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Cryer will miss his second consecutive game as the result of a concussion. The 6-foot-1 junior has started in 10 games this season, logging 14.9 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.2 assists on 30.1 minutes per game. Dale Bonner will likely continue to start in his place.
Dec 30, 2022
Uncertain to play Saturday
Cryer (concussion) will most likely be a game-time decision to suit up Saturday against Iowa State, John Werner of the Waco Tribune-Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Cryer missed Wednesday's contest due to a concussion and there's a chance he might not be ready to go for Saturday as well. If he's unable to suit up, expect Dale Bonner to take his place in the rotation.
Dec 28, 2022
Out Wednesday
Cryer won't play in Wednesday's game against Nicholls State due to a concussion.
ANALYSIS
Although it's unclear when the injury took place, Cryer is reportedly in concussion protocol. In his absence, Dale Bonner is getting the starting nod once again.
Dec 19, 2022
Unimpressive vs. Washington State
Cryer amassed six points (2-7 FG, 2-5 3Pt), one rebound and two assists across 30 minutes during Sunday's 65-59 victory over Washington State.
ANALYSIS
Cryer logged fewer than 10 points on a 28.5 field goal percentage. He will try redeeming himself before 2023. Langston Love is expected to be a backup again.
Dec 16, 2022
Anticipates playing this weekend
Head coach Scott Drew said Friday that Cryer (back) will play Sunday against Washington State, John Werner of the Waco Tribune-Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Cryer was held out of the Bears' previous matchup versus Tarleton State due to a back issue, but he's now in line to limit his absence streak to just one game following coach Drew's comments Friday. The 6-foot-1 guard will likely reclaim his usual starting spot this weekend against the Cougars.
Dec 7, 2022
DNP vs. Tarleton State
Cryer (back) did not play during the Bears' 80-57 win Tuesday versus Tarleton State.
ANALYSIS
An injured back prevented Cryer from participating in the Bears' latest game. He will try to return when they host Washington State on Dec. 18.
Dec 6, 2022
Not starting Tuesday night
Cryer (back) isn't starting Tuesday night for the Bears.
ANALYSIS
Cryer had started every other game this season for Baylor, and has been a prolific scorer with 16.5 points-per-game. However, he'll be kept out the Bears' game with Tarleton State with a back. In Cryer's absence, Langston Love should see increased minutes.
Nov 30, 2022
Leading scorer in blowout loss
Cryer produced 19 points (7-14 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT), one rebound, three assists and one steal in 35 minutes during Tuesday's 96-70 loss to Marquette.
ANALYSIS
Cryer was the Bears' best offensive performer in this uncharacteristically lopsided loss, as the team was held to a season low in points after falling behind 51-25 at halftime. The junior guard also led Baylor in field-goal attempts ahead of freshman Keyonte George (12), though he tied his season high in turnovers (three). Cryer has led his team in scoring (17.9) while splashing 38.9 percent of his 7.7 three-pointers per game. He'll look to play a similarly important offensive role this Friday against 14the-ranked Gonzaga.
Nov 15, 2022
Lights it up in blowout win
Cryer closed Monday's 95-62 win over Northern Colorado with 20 points (8-16 FG, 4-9 3Pt), four rebounds, two assists and one steal in 32 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Cryer notched a game high in points while hitting 50 percent of his field-goal attempts and 44.4 percent of his three-pointers. The junior guard also did not hurt his team with only one turnover, and he chipped in four defensive boards. Through three starts this season, Cryer has increased his field-goal attempts per game by just over 3.5, though his shooting overall efficiency has fallen from 47.6 to 37.5. The first-time full-time starter will have an opportunity to take on a larger scoring role this season, and he'll look to maintain this consistency while taking on a tough Virginia squad at the Roman Main Event in Las Vegas on Friday
Nov 7, 2022
Productive on scoreboard
Cryer recorded 16 points (5-11 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 3-3 FT), one rebound, one assist and one steal in 20 minutes during Monday's 117-53 victory over Mississippi Valley State.
ANALYSIS
Cryer missed a significant portion of the 2021-22 season after fracturing both of his feet, but he was fully cleared for all basketball-related activities in September. He played a sizable role for Baylor during Monday's regular-season opener and should see his playing time increase once the Bears are in some more competitive matchups.
Sep 12, 2022
Cleared for full workouts
Baylor head coach Scott Drew said Monday that Cryer (foot) has been fully cleared for all basketball-related activities, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
After playing a limited role as a true freshman on Baylor's 2020-21 title-winning team, Cryer was expected to serve as a focal piece in the Bears backcourt in 2021-22, but he was limited to just 19 appearances after fracturing both of his feet and requiring surgery. Before the injuries surfaced, Cryer had performed at a high level, averaging 13.5 points and 2.7 triples while converting at a 47.6 percent clip from the field. Now healthy again, Cryer is poised to start at shooting guard during his junior season, forming one of the Big 12's top backcourt tandems with point guard Adam Flagler.
Jun 28, 2022
Looking to recover by August
Cryer (foot) remains unable to participate in basketball related activities and will not be ready until roughly August, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Cryer received surgery to repair fractures in both feet in March and is continuing to rehab them. As a sophomore, Cryer averaged 13.5 points, 1.7 assists and 1.5 rebounds, and will try and be fully recovered by August.
Mar 25, 2022
Underwent foot surgery
Cryer (foot) announced via Twitter that he received surgery to repair fractures in both feet.
ANALYSIS
Cryer was forced to miss 13 of the last 14 games for Baylor as a result of his ongoing foot injuries. The 6-foot-1 sophomore appeared in 19 games this season, averaging 13.5 points, 1.5 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 0.8 steals on 25.8 minutes per game. Cryer expects to have plenty of time to prepare for the upcoming season.
Mar 16, 2022
Will miss first weekend of tourney
Cryer (foot) will be out for the first weekend of the NCAA Tournament, Jeff Goodman of WatchStadium.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Cryer has been out with a foot injury for the majority of the last month. When in the lineup he has been fantastic off the bench, averaging 13.5 PPG. If Baylor were to win and advance to the Sweet 16, it's not a sure thing he would be available the next weekend or even potentially the Final Four. James Akinjo and Adam Flagler will continue to play huge minutes.
Mar 10, 2022
Slated to sit Thursday
Cryer (foot) is in a boot and not in uniform for warmups ahead of Thursday's game versus Oklahoma, Niki Lattarulo of KCEN News reports.
ANALYSIS
Cryer was deemed a game-time decision leading up to the contest, but the presence of a boot on his right foot would seemingly rule him out of contention to make his return for the Bears' first contest of the Big 12 tournament. It remains to be seen if his status will change at all as the Bears advance, but it's certainly a loss in the scoring column with the sophomore unavailable.
Mar 10, 2022
Game-time
Cryer (foot) will be a game-time decision for Wednesday's Big 12 Tournament game against Oklahoma, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
A foot issue has kept Cryer off the court in 10 of Baylor's last 11 games. While he appears nearly set to return, his official status may not become clear until pre-game warmups.
Mar 4, 2022
Likely out until Big 12 Tournament
Coach Scott Drew said Friday that Cryer (foot) likely won't be available until the Big 12 Tournament at the earliest, Jack Allen of KXXV reports.
ANALYSIS
Drew said that Cryer remains day-to-day and is officially considered a game-time decision for Saturday's matchup against Iowa State, but his status doesn't sound encouraging. If he's officially sidelined against the Cyclones, Adam Flagler and Dale Bonner should continue to see increased run.
Mar 2, 2022
Will be game-to-game for ROS
Coach Scott Drew said that Cryer (foot) will be evaluated on a game-by-game basis for the rest of the season, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Cryer has not played in a game since Feb. 16 due to a foot injury. Even as Baylor has worked themselves into a possible No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament, it would still be a big blow if they could not have their second-leading scorer (13.5 PPG) return at some point. The further Baylor is able to advance into March, the better chance of getting back one of the best sixth men in the entire country as they look to defend their title.
Feb 28, 2022
Out Monday
Cryer (foot) will not play Monday against Texas, John Werner of the Waco Tribune-Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Cryer will miss his fourth straight game with a foot injury that has forced the sophomore to miss nine total games now. He will see his final opportunity to return before the end of the regular season on Saturday against Iowa State.
Feb 28, 2022
Not warming up Monday night
Cryer (foot) was not seen warming up pregame and is unlikely to play Monday night against Texas, Christina Huang of The Daily Texan reports.
ANALYSIS
Cryer has missed eight of the last nine games for Baylor while nursing a foot injury. The guard has been a significant contributor in a bench role for the Bears this season, averaging 13.5 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.8 assists over 25.8 minutes per game. If he is unable to play Monday, Cryer's next opportunity to return will come in the regular-season finale against Iowa State on Saturday.
Feb 28, 2022
Game-time decision Monday
Cryer (foot) is a game-time decision for Monday's matchup with Texas, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Cryer has not played since Feb. 16 while nursing a foot issue, but he'll once again have a shot to play Monday. The sophomore has taken a huge leap in year two, raising his per game averages across the board. His return will be a welcomed one as Baylor has the Big 12 tournament on the horizon.
Feb 26, 2022
Does not play Saturday
Cryer (foot) did not play Saturday against Kansas.
ANALYSIS
Cryer was ultimately held out of the starting lineup and didn't even see the floor, meaning he's now missed three games in a row and eight of Baylor's last nine. His next chance to return to action will come Monday on the road against the Longhorns.
Feb 25, 2022
Game-time decision Saturday
Cryer (foot) is a game-time decision for Saturday's matchup with Kansas, Niki Lattarulo of KCEN News reports.
ANALYSIS
Cryer has missed two consecutive games and six of seven contests while nursing the foot issue, but he seems to be closing in on a return and could possibly be back Saturday. Dale Bonner will once again be in line for an increased role off the bench.
Feb 21, 2022
Confirmed out Monday
Cryer (foot) will miss Monday's game against Oklahoma State, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Cryer was not expected to be available coming into Monday's game and will remain day-to-day going forward. The guard has been dealing with a nagging foot injury that has kept him out of six of the last seven for Baylor. His next opportunity to retake the floor will come Saturday in a big matchup against Kansas.
Feb 21, 2022
Set to sit Monday
Cryer (foot) isn't expected to play Monday against Oklahoma State, Jordan Majewski of SBNation.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Cryer returned from a five-game absence and played 15 minutes Wednesday against Texas Tech, but he then sat out Saturday's matchup with TCU. It appears the foot injury remains bothersome, leading to what is likely to be his second straight absence Monday.
Feb 19, 2022
Won't play Saturday
Cryer won't play in Saturday's game against TCU.
ANALYSIS
Cryer played 15 minutes in his return to the floor earlier this week but is still dealing with some foot discomfort and will take another rest Saturday. He is considered day-to-day and could retake the floor as soon as Monday on the road at Oklahoma State.
Feb 17, 2022
Only 15 minutes in return
Cryer totaled six points (2-5 FG, 2-4 3Pt) and one assist across 15 minutes during Wednesday's 83-73 loss to Texas Tech.
ANALYSIS
Cryer was making his return following missing the last five games with a foot injury. He was a bit limited, but Cryer will continue to be more productive as he gets more comfortable. He has been the sixth man of the year thus far in the Big 12 and will look to help Baylor bounce back on Saturday against TCU.
Feb 16, 2022
Expected to play Wednesday
Cryer (foot) is warming up and is expected to play in Wednesday's game against Texas Tech, John Werner of the Waco Tribune-Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
This is great news for the Bears, as Cryer has been out since Jan. 25 with a nagging foot injury. The sophomore has been a key piece of the team's offense this season averaging 13.9 points per game.
Feb 16, 2022
Game-time call Wednesday
Cryer (foot) is a game-time decision Wednesday against Texas Tech, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Cryer is working his way back from a foot injury but it remains uncertain if he will be available Wednesday. The key contributor will test things out during warmups before a decision is made on his availability. If Cryer sits again, it'll be James Akinjo, Adam Flagler and Dale Bonner as the main backcourt options for the Bears.
Feb 12, 2022
Could be back next week
Cryer (foot) could return in about a week if the pain in his foot subsides, Jeff Goodman of WatchStadium.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Cryer's return would be big for Baylor as they would regain a key depth piece. When he does return some of the other reserves may lose the added time they've had with Cryer out.
Feb 12, 2022
Out again Saturday
Cryer (foot) will not play Saturday against Texas, Talia Goodman of Field of 68 reports.
ANALYSIS
Cryer is reportedly in line to miss a fifth straight game as he continues to deal with a foot injury. He has been considered a game-time decision in each of Baylor's last two contests, so Cryer could be getting close to a return. Baylor's next game comes Wednesday against Texas Tech.
Feb 12, 2022
Game-time call Saturday
Cryer (foot) will be a game-time decision Saturday against Texas, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Cryer has been trending towards a return but has still missed four straight games. He is dealing with a foot injury and the likes of Dale Bonner and Adam Flagler have seen added minutes as a result. Cryer's status figures to be confirmed during warmups ahead of Saturday's noon eastern tipoff.
Feb 9, 2022
Set to sit Wednesday
Cryer (foot) isn't expected to play Wednesday at Kansas State, Derek Young of Rivals.com reports.

Feb 9, 2022
Game-time call Wednesday
Cryer (foot) is a game-time decision Wednesday against Kansas State, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
The sophomore guard has not played since Jan. 25 due to a foot injury. Cryer has a chance to return Wednesday, however, and will test things out in pregame. Even if Cryer is able to return Wednesday, he may not be ready to play heavy minutes right away. His status will be determined closer to tipoff.
Feb 5, 2022
Ruled out Saturday
Cryer (foot) will not play Saturday against Kansas, CJ Moore of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Cryer is set to miss his third straight game while nursing the foot injury. The sophomore guard is averaging 13.9 points, 1.7 assists and 1.6 rebounds in 26.4 minutes per game off the bench this season. His next chance to return is Wednesday against Kansas State.
Feb 4, 2022
Considered game-time call
Cryer (foot) will be a game-time decision for Saturday's contest versus Kansas, John Werner of the Waco Tribune-Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Cryer has been held out of the last pair of games due to the foot issue and his status remains on the fence for Saturday as well. The sophomore's pain tolerance level will be tested before the staff makes a determination on his status.
Jan 31, 2022
Out Monday
Cryer (foot) won't play in Monday's game against West Virginia.
ANALYSIS
Cryer will miss a second straight matchup with a lingering foot injury, as the guard was a late scratch for the Bears' game versus Alabama last Saturday. With Adam Flagler (knee) also out, Dale Bonner is a prime candidate to see increased run against the Mountaineers on Monday.
Jan 31, 2022
Will be game-time decision
Cryer (foot) will be a game-time decision ahead of Monday's contest against West Virginia, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Cryer was sidelined for Saturday's loss to Alabama due to foot injury and may be sidelined for a second straight game. If he's unable to suit up, Dale Bonner will likely see an increased role off the bench again.
Jan 29, 2022
Late scratch Saturday
Cryer has been ruled out for Saturday's game versus Alabama due to a foot injury.
ANALYSIS
Cryer's absence from action was released just before the opening tip. The return of James Akinjo should soften the blow of Cryer's absence a little bit, with Akijo taking his spot in the starting five.
Jan 29, 2022
Moves to bench
Cryer will come off the bench Saturday against Alabama, Austin Hannon of The Crimson White reports.
ANALYSIS
Cryer moves back to a bench role after getting a spot start against Kansas State on Tuesday. His role is unlikely to suffer much, however, as Cryer has averaged 28 minutes per game in conference play.
Jan 25, 2022
Back in starting lineup Tuesday
Cryer was listed on the Baylor Men's Basketball official Twitter account before Tuesday's game against Kansas State.
ANALYSIS
Cryer was listed in the starting lineup Tuesday with James Akinjo likely out while nursing a tailbone injury. Cryer is set to make his third start of the season. The sophomore guard is averaging 13.9 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 26.4 minutes per game this season for the Bears.
Jan 22, 2022
Back to bench role
Cryer will return to a bench role for Saturday's game against Oklahoma.
ANALYSIS
Cryer made a spot start for the Bears against West Virginia on Tuesday and poured in a season-high 25 points but will yield his starting spot back to James Akinjo in Akinjo's return to action. Cryer has played no more than 32 minutes off the bench this season, so it's unlikely he will reach the 34 minutes he played Tuesday again Saturday.

Game-high 25 points in start
Cryer recorded 25 points (8-16 FG, 5-9 3Pt, 4-4 FT), two rebounds and one assist over 34 minutes during Tuesday's 77-68 victory over West Virginia.
ANALYSIS
There was little doubt that Cryer was going to be able to step up with James Akinjo out with injury. Coach Scott Drew has given the sophomore the green light to fire whenever he sees fit. If Akinjo is forced to miss more time Cryer will be a great play in all formats. Baylor will take on Oklahoma on Saturday next.

Gets spot start on Tuesday
Cryer is in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against West Virginia.
ANALYSIS
Cryer will make just his second start of the season as James Akinjo may or not be available on Tuesday due to an undisclosed injury. Cryer has been on of the most productive sixth men this season, averaging 13.1 points and 2.7 three-pointers per contest.
Jan 17, 2022
Puts in 18 points off the bench
Cryer closed with 18 points (5-12 FG, 4-9 3Pt, 4-4 FT), one rebound, two assists and one steal in 32 minutes during Saturday's 61-54 loss to Oklahoma State.
ANALYSIS
Cryer led all Bears in scoring, but it wasn't enough to avoid dropping a second straight game at home. The sophomore has been one of the best sixth men all season, averaging 13.1 points and 2.7 three-pointers in 25.7 minutes per contest. He has a chance to start Tuesday's game against West Virginia with James Akinjo dealing with an undisclosed injury.

Notches 15 points off bench
Cryer ended Saturday's 76-64 victory over TCU with 15 points (5-10 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 1-3 FT), three rebounds and two assists in 28 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Cryer has slowed down over the last month after a torrid start to the season from a shooting perspective. This 15-point effort Saturday was his highest scoring game since Dec. 4. Cryer will look to continue to provide a spark off the bench going into Tuesday's game against Texas Tech.
Jan 2, 2022
Scores 13 with three steals
Cryer (foot) ended Saturday's 77-72 victory over Iowa State with 13 points (5-8 FG, 3-5 3Pt), one rebound and three steals across 20 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Cryer returned to action following a two-game absence and looked impressive, as he left his mark both as a scorer and on defense as well. The sophomore has scored in double digits in just two of his last six contests.

Slated to play Saturday
Coach Scott Drew said Cryer (foot) will play Saturday against Iowa State, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Cryer missed the last two games due to a foot injury but will be back in action Saturday. Across his five appearances prior to his layoff, the sophomore averaged 9.4 points in 25.2 minutes per game.

Ends up sitting Tuesday
Cryer (foot) did not take the court Tuesday against Northwestern State.
ANALYSIS
Prior to the contest, it was reported that Cryer would be available despite missing a Dec. 20 matchup to rest a foot injury that was surgically repaired this offseason. Baylor jumped out to a 28-point lead in the first half, however, so the team ultimately didn't feel the need to deploy its top sixth-man. The Bears next take on an undefeated Iowa State squad on New Year's Day, which will mark exactly two weeks since Cryer last saw live game action.
Dec 28, 2021
Back in action Tuesday
Cryer (foot) will take part in Tuesday's game versus Northwestern State, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Cryer will ultimately miss just one game due to his foot issue and figures to handle a sizable workload assuming his conditioning is up to speed. After a hot start to the season, Cryer cooled off over his last five games, averaging 9.4 points, 1.6 assists and one steal per contest over the last five. Perhaps the time off to heal his foot will pay dividends with his shooting stroke.
Dec 20, 2021
Not playing Monday
Cryer isn't playing Monday against Alcorn State due to a foot injury, John Werner of the Waco Tribune-Herald reports.
ANALYSIS
Cryer is apparently sitting out as a precautionary measure for a foot injury he suffered during the offseason. He'll now have a full extra week to rest up before the next game against Northwestern State on Dec. 28.
Dec 6, 2021
Another 20-point outing
Cryer chipped in 20 points (7-14 FG, 4-9 3Pt, 2-4 FT), one rebound and one assist across 24 minutes during Saturday's 99-54 victory over UAPB.
ANALYSIS
Cryer was able to bounce back from a couple poor shooting outings with his fourth game scoring at least 20 points this season. Despite making just one start this season, Cryer is averaging 15.4 points and 2.9 three-pointers in 25.0 minutes per contest. He has to be considered among the best sixth man's in the country.
Nov 20, 2021
Leads the way in first start
Cryer posted a game-high 21 points (8-12 FG, 5-9 3Pt), four rebounds, one assist, and a steal in the win over Stanford on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Cryer got his first start of the season in place of Adam Flagler (hand). He continued to prove to coach Scott Drew that he deserves a lot of playing time each night. Cryer is now averaging 18.5 points, 3.5 three-pointers, 3.0 assists, and 1.3 steals per contest. It's going to be extremely hard to keep him out of the starting five even with Flagler returns healthy if Cryer keeps producing like this.
Nov 20, 2021
Starting Saturday
Cryer is starting Saturday's game against Stanford.
ANALYSIS
Cryer came off the bench in each of his first three appearances of the season, and he's coming off back-to-back games with 20 points. Adam Flagler (hand) isn't in the starting lineup Saturday.
Nov 17, 2021
Team-high 20 points off bench
Cryer logged 20 points (7-9 FG, 5-7 3Pt, 1-1 FT), two rebounds, two assists and two steals over 24 minutes during Monday's 89-60 victory over Nicholls.
ANALYSIS
Cryer has been explosive through two games off the bench this season, averaging 16.5 points, 3.5 three-pointers, and 2.5 assists per contest. It will be more telling what his usage is in upcoming games against quality opponents like Stanford, Arizona State, and Villanova.
Nov 13, 2021
Puts in 13 off bench
Cryer ended Friday's 87-60 victory over Incarnate Word with 13 points (5-10 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 1-1 FT), two rebounds and three assists over 22 minutes.
ANALYSIS
Cryer was the team's top scorer off the bench, something that has a chance to become a theme this season. The injury to Langston Love leaves Cryer as easily the top backcourt option off the bench for the Bears. Baylor's starting rotation appears to be pretty solidified, but Cryer should still see 20-25 minutes most nights.
Oct 21, 2021
Cleared for full activity
Cryer (foot) was cleared for full basketball activities Thursday, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Cryer underwent offseason foot surgery in early September but was never in doubt to miss the beginning of the season. His return completes the Bears' backcourt depth as he should hold a sizeable role behind James Akinjo at point guard. The 6-1 sophomore's playing time was capped at just under 10 minutes per game last season due to the Bears' incredible depth. However, with Jared Butler, MaCio Teague and Davion Mitchell all moving on, Cryer will be able to see heftier usage in year two.
Sep 23, 2021
Not returning until late October
Cryer (foot) is not expected to return until the end of October at the earliest, according to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports.
ANALYSIS
Cryer underwent offseason surgery so his absence shouldn't be a surprise, though Baylor now has a clear idea of when he'll be able to return to action. Cryer was a reserve on last season's National Championship team, averaging 3.4 points across 9.9 minutes per game.
Sep 3, 2021
Offseason foot surgery
Cryer underwent offseason foot surgery but is expected to be ready to begin the 2021-22 season, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Cryer was a reserve on last season's National Championship team, averaging 3.4 points across 9.9 minutes, but barely getting off the bench in the postseason run. The team's entire backcourt has turned over, however, leaving an open shooting guard spot up for grabs with Arizona transfer James Akinjo presumably manning the point. Cryer will have to compete with four-star freshman Langston Love for minutes -- a predicament that gets much more difficult if he's missing practice due to rehab.
Dec 22, 2020
Team-high 15 points off bench
Cryer notched a team-high 15 points (4-7 FG, 4-6 3Pt, 3-4 FT) while adding two assists and two steals in the win over Arkansas Pine-Bluff on Monday.
ANALYSIS
Cryer got 25 minutes as Baylor was able to cruise against a weaker opponent. The freshman has done a good job providing a spark off the bench this season, averaging 9.2 points, 2.4 three-pointers, and 1.2 steals in 17.4 minutes per contest. He is also shooting 60 percent from behind the arc. Cryer will be battling Adam Flagler for backcourt minutes off the bench behind the star trio of Davion Mitchell, Jared Butler, and MaCio Teague. Baylor will take on Central Arkansas next Tuesday.
